Recently saw Motown Christmas Show. My husband and I dance and sang along during the entire show. Fun and put us in the Christmas spirit. Job well done to the cast. Keep up the good work Ensemble Theater.

This is a wonderful theater. It is small, but has amazing production capabilites for its size. Pro tip: As there are only 12 rows total, the last row (L) in the center (around seats 7-10) are perfect seats with lots of leg room (I am 6'1").

Beautifully restored facility. Parking was a little vague as it was definitely up to you to find a space but that’s downtown Houston for you. Temp in the area was pretty decent. Not too cold or too hot. The first row is literally directly in your lap and even that was exciting! Got to enjoy A Motown Christmas Musical. Oh my!!! So much talent in once place. Will go to see other shows for sure. First impressions say a lot. Masks optional on the website but it was mandatory upon our entry. Temp checks too. No one checked our tickets. We were left to find our own seats. Overall, it was a great experience.

We saw the Single black female and it was SOOOO accurate lol I would definitely recommend it while it's still here! The theater was nice was well. The staff made sure everyone practiced social distancing. I would definitely enjoy another play with the company.

The play featured a Motown Christmas. The actors were superb as they wove famous songs of the 1960s with brief biographies of the singers and songwriters that produced the distinctive Motown sound. It was an enjoyable experience for all ages!

I love love LOVE The Ensemble Theatre!!!! The plays never disappoint, although it would be nice to know when there is going to be profanity, as I once attended w/ my boyfriend's parents and I became embarrassed because I wasn't aware there would be cursing and his mother was slightly offended by it. (Awkward 😬) Otherwise, I am always pleased and excited to attend. I hope to become a member soon so I can stay on top of what's next. Thank you for the young actor's program also. It's SO important to support our kids! 🥰 I am glad to see the Ensemble has withstood the Pandemic and multiple Recessions. Keep doing what you're doing, the community needs you and supports you!!! The venue was so much nicer than I expected! This is a great venue for new entertainers to debut their talents if they are looking to present themselves well in the professional manner. There is a nice foyer wherr a table can be placed to accept tickets right in front of the door leading into the theater room. Inside the theater is very spacious! It is also very close to some popular Houston restaurants (Taste Bar is approximately 5 minutes away). Great experience!

Went to the theatre for the first time. The show was incredible! Thoughtful. Great stage presence. Some distractions with a few character wardrobe but overall, talented actors and produced well. Theatre is a great location in midtown. Only issue was the audio which was poor. The production was great and it was painful to get out of a scene because of feedback.

Too Heavy for You Pockets ... Everything was beautiful from the g Staff to the host to the actors to the building to the clean restroom to the concession stands. Was a wonderful experience. Dress code is church attire.

I saw Fences, the Robert Townsend Solo Show and a third production there. It was one of the most enjoyable theater experiences I've had west of The Shubert on Broadway. A lovely reception area with bar & seating, an amazing staff, not a bad seat in the house. The assistance provided during intermission for handicap as well as special drink request was outstanding. They have made the best use of the space & resources and it's my first entertainment destination whenever my wife & I are in Houston.

Become a subscriber and have planned date nights for the year. Row C has the best leg room on the lower level. Any seat has a great view. Very intimate theater that offers top quality entertainment.

My mother took my brothers and I to productions at the ensemble as a little girl. For many years I have tried to audition here but kept missing the dates. This year I auditioned and I wasn't selected but I was soooo impressed by all that goes in at this theater. I learned so much from the staff and gained so much respect for this theater. They poured so much into us as we waited to audition and as we learned the music and choreography for our audition. I will forever support this theater and am highly impressed

Really? Be Ensemble Theater is one of the most prominent and oldest African American theaters in the south. In terms of Houston this is a must go if you are a local or you are visiting and enjoyed the theatrical Arts. I personally know a couple of the key staff members and they are all very down-to-earth and inviting. My first show that I went to was the Emmett Till story and it was absolutely phenomenal. I will never forget that day

The Ensemble is one of the best theaters in Houston. It is one of the oldest African American Theaters in the country. Geat prodution values. Thoughtful and interesting shows. They have a full season of show that are varied from comedy and musicals to well done classic theater ignored by other venues. Parking can be problematic. Its in the popular mid town area. But always a rewarding experience.
