Reviews of Miller Outdoor Theatre
Eric Yang
Great place to relax at the daytime and listen to concerts in the afternoon/night (you'd have to check out the theater schedule). There is lot of short-cut grass and many seats in the theater. This was the band "America" performing. Amazing band and amazing performance.
Keerthan
Excellent outdoor theatre! I was not fortunate enough to attend a any show here but I’m sure it would be awesome to attend one.
Huge space where you can enjoy the show sitting around anywhere. It’s a good spot for kids to play around too when there is no event.
The theatre is located on a hill with grass all around! The rail ride goes all around this spot.
cristina cabrera
It was good to be out there. The weather was great. The restroom were nice and clean. Went on the 10- 6 and a couple of restroom needed toilet paper and no hand soap. Went the next day and the same soap dispensers were not working. That's about the only thing wrong I found.
KIMBERLY QUINN
Great Concert Venue! We went to see Tab Benoit. It was a huge crowd. We had seats but the lawn/ hill was covered with people. Great night. You can bring strollers, ice chests, and wagons. My first time there. Nice location. Go early for parking.
Leticia Rodriguez
What an amazing night with friends and good Ole music "America" in concert. The hill was so nice, very breezy and gorgeous. I can't wait for the motown concert in May. Check the calendar for all the great free entertainment at Miller outdoor Theater.
Angela Pinina
One of Houston's finest givebacks to the people of this city. 🫶
Enjoy a variety of arts and entertainment throughout the year. The seating on the hill is free of charge! You are allowed to bring blankets, drinks, food/snacks and sit on the hill and experience something wonderful. A super fun date night on a budget! …

I have been to the area around Miller at Hermann a million times and it’s always been clean and maintained well. Last week I attended a concert there and really enjoyed it! The sounds carries well and it doesn’t seem like there’s a bad view in the venue. I would recommend bringing a lawn chair, blankets right on the ground also work if you have a strong back and rear. Definitely a great place to visit. Parking is the same as parking at Hermann Park.
Justin Broussard
It has been 3 decades since my dad used to take me and my brother here. And now my son. Really a Houston landmark. Fun for the entire family.

Sept 2022Update: Awesome time was had during Mexican Independence. Opened with USA Color Guard (Local Latinos) leading the Star Spangled Banner followed by The Grito and Himno Nacional Mexicano. Nice. Son Rompe Pera was the entertainment and did not disappoint with their des madre. Chidooo!! Original: Beautiful spot in Houston even when there is not a performance. Definitely recommend! This was a morning with Houston Urban Trekkers (Meetup) Good fun. Met new people
Trent Rankin
Saw a Michael Jackson replica he sounded amazing, and it was free. It was a good time

Great venue in the heart of Houston. We were visiting from out of town with our kids so decided to take in a showing of The Jungle Book. Place was packed with school kids on field trips, but lots of seating in the grass and audio was still great. Kids loved the show. Lots of restrooms for the rush after the show.
Lisa Hogan
It's always a pleasure. Great performances. Beautiful venue. All for free
Sergio Castillo
We went on a school field trip to the health museum and then had lunch at the park. The kids loved running up the big hill and seeing the refection pool. It was a nice sunny breezy day that made it even better. The traffic was rough but with so many people in the area it's expected.
Hugo Garcia Picado
Nice place to hand out. Enjoy concerts, bring a good wine and excellent food , the weather is outstanding right now. You can get tickets and sit close to the stage, or you can bring your picnic and sit in the hill. The theater sound is very good. Note: if the concerts start at 8:00 pm I strongly recommend arriving an hour to an hour and a half before, if you are sitting at the hill.
Danette Green
I really enjoyed just being in the park no problem just hard to find handicap parking.but enjoyed the ducks & ponds
Kevin Mc Donald
This place is a gem in the big city. I absolutely love taking my wife out there. We have enjoyed many evenings on the hill in our 30 year relationship.
M J
A must have experience. we continue to come back for the diversity of showings. It's always free so do consider donating.
Carmen Laffey
Great free shows. Even when the weather is not good, then click on the live stream app in the website. You should never miss a show!!
Andrew Marcinkowska
Loved coming here for free for over fifteen years. Tonight had a bit of the jazz flute.
Stephanie Fabela
We love Miller outdoor theatre! The performances there are outstanding! We are so grateful this is available to the public for free, and I enjoy taking my family to be able to appreciate the performing arts.

Amazing shows and free! (Be mindful to bring something if you can to support the programs!) Excited for the 2023 Season! Drumline was a blast this past weekend! ♥️😁 …
Debra Redd
I saw the I am King, ( Micheal Jackson) review. It was pretty well done, and their female guitarist blew out socks off😀😀she was awesome. First time I had been to one of these shows, bout hopefully not the last. …

A great place for family and friends! Attended a Motown event memorial weekend and loved it. So much space with the theatre having a great sound system. The theatre also has a concession stand that had the cheapest prices i’ve seen! The bathrooms are also clean & blaster with AC.
So bring your blanket and snacks and get ready for a great time.
Raymond Nelson
Outstanding. Very clean, well organized and great talent acquisition with Michael Jackson impersonator concert. Good very reasonably priced as well.
Victor Clark
Stunning Park had fun on the Hill
trishdesires
Always a good free time at the MOT. Awesome diverse performances, family friendly, zoo and Herman park right there and huge free parking lot on site. One of the reasons I love Houston so much!
Vicki Patton
Hi Town Get Down not what I thought it would be.
The Prince experience was extraordinary truly enjoyed it.
This time was the Drum line Live it was epic - band extraordinary - singers sounds so professional I thought I was at the Motown Review which comes in May.🤗😜🤪📯🎼🎤🎷🥁🎺 all of that and more. Would love ❤ for them to come every year!

The Miller Outdoor Theatre offer eight months of free open-air Profesional theatre to the public, the only one of its kind in the United States. Blankets and lawn chairs are welcome. Lawn chairs on the left side, blankets on the right side of the hill. Parking is a bit tricky, but public transportation is a great option. Depending on time of event, parking F & G are great choices too. Read the signs if you park on the streets. 1700 seats are available under the canopy. Sometimes Free tickets for this seats must be obtained prior to some real popular presentations. Enjoy, let me know if you would like to know more.
Lynell “Nell” Dillard
We enjoyed everything!! My Mom was wondering if the show could be taken around the U.S. so many would enjoy. I know it cost. Thank you so much for the fun. I had a long day, but still enjoyed in between resting my eyes. Smh. Sorry. Pictures of beginning and end of show.
Daddy Dice
No rain no heat good wind perfect date night
Anita B.
Watched the contemporary dance show on Friday evening with my gf Alice. We picked up food from Cool Running Bar and Grill. What a wonderful night...
Danielena Viera
This place is so nice!!! They always have a yearly program that can fit everybody!!! Love the convenio of been able to come laid down a blanket or bring beach chairs and have your own picnic while you enjoy whatever event they have. Is a nice alternative to soak culture in a very affordable and fun way
Aishia R
I absolutely love this place especially the entertainment!! The Juneteenth celebration was awesome!! Me and my girlfriends had a little picnic. I can't wait for something else so I can attend.
Sal “SAL & BEE” Galdamez
This is a real cool place near the zoo where many events happen. Kite festival, Concerts, Houston Grand Opera, Houston Symphony, Houston Ballet.
Benjamin Cohen
Saw the free show during the annual kite festival. Good seats, good views, loud speakers (prob best volume for those ppl on the hill behind the seating area), large stage.
Usiel Bawuert López Peralta
Outstanding space to enjoy the Houston symphony or whichever great guest. If you don't reach tickets, you can appreciate the event at the top of the hill where you can have a pic-nic whit your special person ❤️
Ariane Hernandez Garcia
We went picnic at front of the theatre on the evening. It was a very nice day and a wonderful concert, the sound was great. It is a good idea to visit it in company of friends and family. The restroom are clean. Try to arrive early otherwise the parking would be difficult.
Melissa Jammm
Always a good time... prefer the lawn seating... take a picnic and enjoy the show. Always diverse!
Arkoon Ali
Amazing place to come and hang out with your friends and family. They have movie nights, orchestra performances, and other showings. There is a online website that has a schedule of the upcoming events. There are chairs close to the screen, but it can be uncomfortable to sit there depending on how hot and humid it is. There is a lawn on top of a hill where you can sit and enjoy the show. Be sure to bring a blanket and some chairs to sit on the lawn. There is a nearby concession stand Incase you are hungry or thirsty.
Anna Moore
This event was really nice. There wasn't a cloud in the sky. It was a little chilly outside but it didn't keep approximately 3 plus thousands of people away. The sound for each group was amazing
Thiago Cordolino
U of H did an excellent job last night presenting Shakespeare's Cymbeline. Too notch through and through!!!
Andrea Chapman
Miller is one of those special places where you make lasting memories. With just a blanket, some snacks and surrounded by good friends you'll always have a blast, whether you pay attention to the program or not (have to admit, me and my friends were the loud, chatty ones this last time. What can I say, we're happy people). And it's experiences like this that make me come back year after year to listen to good music or watch Shakespeare being reenacted in a not so Shakespearean setting. You never know what you're gonna get but for a couple of hours you experience complete peace and a feeling of community that you don't get anywhere else.
Daniel Didok
Last night we saw the students of the Diaz Music Institute performing alongside Oscar Hernandez and it was amazing! The group is called Caliente and it is packed with talented musicians and vocalists. This was our first time sitting at Miller since COVID-19 began ravaging our community and world. People in the theater were respectful of social distancing and being an open air venue, it was much safer than an indoor concert. There is still risk as not everyone is wearing masks (given the humid Houston heat) and I would not recommend anyone who is older or immunocompromised from attending. The performance was entitled Noche Caliente, and it was apt: the performers were on fire last night!
Fernando Sanchez
Took the family to Miller outdoor to enjoy chicano fest. David Lee and Shelly Lares playing tonight. Lots of events here. Go to.milleroutdoortheatre.com to all events through out the year. Also great place to walk, run and take scenic pics around the park. The zoo is close by. Chinese tea garden , museums and much more nearby. I see alot of weddings events and quincenera eta... take there pics here. . Been coming here for almost 30 years! It never gets old! There is a huge hill at the Miller. Bring the kids and don't forget to bring cardboard. Bigger sheet the better. The kids can ride on the cardboard down the hill like a slide. Lol. Just a blast. Cheers!!
Corliss White
It was a very good concert. You could see and enjoy pretty good from the lawn. I enjoyed Frankie Avalon. He put on an awesome show. Looking forward to future events. It's really nice to have somewhere you can go for grown folks entertainment with no shuffling and enjoy. This was my first time. Didn't know or where to find some activities. Btw I'm from California.
zach reinhardt
Was not busy so it was easy and and it’s always easy out. Seats are a little hard bring a cushion. Shows are free but be selective on what you want to see.
Jeannie Rollo
It was crowded, and parking was a bit of a challenge, but we love going here!
Girasol Luna
The theater is a great place to enjoy and have family time. I took 12 young ladies to celebrate the Mexican independence and they loved it. The other thing I like is that it's close to public transportation and makes it easy to visit.
Paul St. George
I had a great experience. This was my first time to Miller after being in Houston for over 25yrs. Convenient location and there are quite a few nice restaurants within a short walking distance so you can get some food in prior to the concert. Good selection of food and beer also available at the venue. Will definitely be going back for more concerts and events.
Enjoy!!!
pasan bandara
Year spread quality entertaining events.. you can sit on the lawn and enjoy them at no cost. Perfect for music and art lovers. Very crowdy during July 4th event usually because of the fireworks..
Nichole Green
Just wanted to be outside so me and my son decided to grab early dinner and eat at the park. I loved it Happy 100th birthday
Sandra D.
Had a great time...Tab Benoit headlined & The Dirty Dozen Brass Band of New Orleans opened! Great show & F-R-E-E!🤩🥰 My only concern was the amount of time it took to switch out the set/instruments between the two performances. We opted to sit on the hill...the weather was perfect!💕💜 …
Marianne Hix
No words can describe how amazing this place is. The fact that every show is free is awesome !!! I recently celebrated it 95 years with the Houston ballet performing Don Quixote !! It was absolutely beautiful !!!!!
Trish Kessler
What great fun and Tab Benoit was great. First time at Miller Theatre beautiful ambiance. Got food there ordered Frito pie and it was just that Fritos and a little melted cheese with jalapenos no chili. Won't do that again. Will be back. Thank you for all you all do to make it happen.
swagatikanayak
We love everything Miller has to offer each year !! Summer and fall evening s are best spent enjoying the programs here .
Kessika Johnson
What great programming! We enjoyed Devon Allman Project!
Cynthia P
Very good line-up of shows featuring Houston Ballet, Houston Symphony, and Houston grand Opera all for free. You can either sit on the lawn or chairs - tickets for seats can be obtained on the day of the performance (~10 am -1 pm).
Ariel Taylor
First time I have been here and very impressed. I will definitely be coming back. Several areas to sit. If you buy tickets.BUT DONT FRET! 5 minutes before the performances they announce open seating to public who did not buy tickets. Also allows those who did buy tickets to move up if they want to. There is food, drinks, desert, and alcoholic beverages availble at the concession stand. There are spetate restrooms for men and women. If ypu want to enjoy an even and dont have money the hill has free seating. Bring ypur blanket or chair and you can watch and listen from a bit further back.
B. Amezcua
The concept is fabulous for spring and summer. Outdoor free of charche access to cultural events.
Special thanks for supporting Latino community theater (en español) for Día de los muertos (day of the dead).
Don't forget to bring a jacket if the event is at night, it can get a bit windy or chilly 🌬️
Charles Duncan
Cool place to hang out or catch a show in past years but I have to say I really miss the summer movies like Jaws or Forrest Gump being shown. Also there's a constant phrase being repeated before each show about putting a certain object on if you haven't had a certain thing, if you've been in the past year you know what I'm talking about and it's really annoying.
One other thing I will add about future developments to add an entrance-i suspect what that really means is a fence will be constructed and that your things are going to be getting checked at that entrance once that is done. This is a terrible idea. Keep the park free and open.
Marcos Morales
EVERY SHOW HERE IS FREE! go online and look up the schedule for the season. Big variety of themed shows.
Jeff Gill
Best venue for outdoor performances. Nice breeze on the hill.
Leslie Joseph
Amazing show
No matter where you sit you can see the stage !!! Absolutely love it
Jennifer Rogers
Love the show and outdoors. Great for families. Beautiful park
Just wish they had healthier selections of food. Very limited and all fried fatty foods. Not one healthy choice. Next time I'll pack my own dinner.
Patricia Henderson
Purple Experience was sooo good. If you ain't grown, leave it alone.
Supriyo Mukherjee
This is a great place to hang out with the kids. They often have different cultural events hosted that can be attended for free. Plus you can bring your own picnic basket and make it a nice family & friends event.
Er Johnson
You are 100 years old! Happy birthday Miller Outdoor Theater. Gracias por tanto :)
Gavin
It's amazing that not only is this a world class outdoor theatre and one of the largest in US but the performances are free.
Yusdel Kinder Ramos Rangel
I like the fact that all events are free. It's a really nice place, family oriented and well designed. You can enjoy the show on the assembly space or just sit on the ground.
Diego Andrade
The Latin American Symphonica was amazing. The seated area is well organized and easy to access
Steve Prats
A houston icon... The talent and presentations shown here are a tribute to the cities commitment to the arts culture and diversity.
Humberto Machado
This place offers more than just an outdoor concert area. We were at the Japanese Festival by the Herman Park and wanted to scape from the crowd. We just walked about 100 ft and there were families, kids, dogs enjoying the great weather on a Sunday. Our kids had the chance to chill play run or just simply watch the kites in the sky. Love this place.
John Burks
Managed to catch the outdoor symphony. The sun had gone down and there was a nice breeze. Wonderful evening.
Justin Thurman
A beautiful amphitheatre with a large seating area and a very well kept grass area that you can sit and view the shows. It is on top of a large hill, but it is easily accessible and has wheelchair access
Hannah Jones
It was absolutely beautiful. I had an awesome time.
D. Prince
Omg! The tribute to Whitney Houston was amazing. It was one of the best concerts I've been to in my 50 years of living. Belinda Davis did an outstanding job bringing the songs to life. Wow!! She has a beautiful voice and has never taking any lessons. Not to mention, the concert was free. I highly recommend making a donation to the theater in order to keep wonderful acts coming to the stage. My family and I love to sit on the lawn and enjoy the entertainment. A concession stand is available. Soda, popcorn, hotdogs, beer and wine are served, among other items. Plenty of parking and lots of security.
Rodolfo Viola
Amazing space not only durin performan time, you can go by and just enjoy the green grass an sun avery day
sankalp mogulothu
Awesome place to attend free events across various arts
Sharon Key
I visited for the Motown Review. Had a great time. I love they offer various talents and events for free at this venue. In April, we attended an African acrobat act. It was fun. I come each season for the various acts. Love this place. You are able to bring your own food and drinks but they also have a concession stand. I can't pass up the fresh popcorn. Great place.
Robin Deluna
I just love this place. We take my son here at least 3 times a year, and we rarely care who is playing, but they always have good entertainers. There is nothing like bringing wine, a chacuterie board, pillows, and a picnic blanket and chilling outside.
jbrian hahn
One of Houston's cultural gems. Check out the calendar weekly. There's always a great performance going on and always free.
Matloob Ali Raza
Great place to have family picnic's and do some out door activities like kite flying and ignition your rc vechiles.
Place is kept clean but public restrooms need allot of attention, no offense but government should provide sheller to homeless people as they have started living on benches in surroundings and for some it causes security concerns.
Synthia Bryan
My first time watching the shows and the performers were just awesome!! My man took me there for our first date and I loved it! I'll definitely go back with my daughter cos we both share a love for the theatre!
Supriyo Mukherjee
We love going to Miller Outdoor Theatre, especially when it is not too hot outside. They have really great shows, which are all free and culturally diverse. It is such a jewel in the heart of the city along with Hermann Park, that let's you escape the hustle so easily.
Jonathan D. Nicholas
Huge fan of this wonderful arts institution since the 1970's. I remember seeing my first opera here. Beautiful outdoor space and not a bad view anywhere...even on the hill (lawn). Take in a free performance and bring your chair, blanket, a picnic basket, and your favorite beverage. No brainer for an unforgettable date night.
Carl Perry
This place rocks. Free shows on the lawn year around. Family friendly, and a chill good time. Public bathrooms and easy to get to with the metro rail. One of the few great free events that Houston has to offer.
And it's even fun to play on the hill during the day.
Jessica Bolaños
First time back at Miller since COVID started. Lots of room on the hill to space out and enjoy the music. Just wish the concession stand had healthier food options, including for vegans/vegetarians.
Steve Nolin
Great place for a show.
Mitchell Walkinshaw
One of my favorite things about Houston. You get to see really talented performers at no cost to you. You can even bring your own food and beverages (no glass). It's a great way to spend a night out and I would recommend everyone try it.
Chris White
Wonderful evening of music from two first rate NOLA acts. More than 3 hours of fantastic entertainment under the stars.
Natalie B Raby
Always a classy place to enjoy a free concert. Very happy they've reopened since COVID.
Supriya Mothay
It's an outdoor theatre with live performances. I went when there was a Dr Seuss show and it was a very nice experience. It was summer when I went, and watching it under Stars was very beautiful.. be sure to grab a blanket abs maybe chairs if you can't squat on the floor.
Nancy Cooper
I read one time that even if you can't afford operas, ballets or plays at the normal venues where tickets are expensive Miller Outdoor provides cultural experiences so everybody can have the experience. They have performances for children, ethnic and interests for all people. Always free and available to those that can't access blanket on the hill by providing chair seating where all views are good. Our tax dollars at work for one of the best venues Houston has to offer.
Marianne Lee
It is beautiful here. The area is very well-kept and within walking distance from the zoo and museums. Checkout their website for events with free admissions.
Greg Travassos
Make sure you research the show you want to see ahead of time. If it seems like it is a popular group get there very early (like 3 hours before the show) to get your seats. Remember blankets stage right (west side), chairs stage left (eastside) if you want to sit in seats get your tickets at 10am. We went to see Illuminate and got there at about 530pm and had a hard time finding a spot. Even though we found a spot people set chairs up in front of us blocking our view. Overall it's a great park and free offering to the public May through November but just be prepared and remember....it's free
Justin Doak
Absolutely lovely outdoor theater. The lawn is in beautiful shape, the views are outstanding, the sound is sharp, and the surrounding Park is stunning. I'm very new to Houston and plan to attend as many events at this venue as I can.
Khristina Mari Ancheta
A good place to go on a friday night. The place gives out a good vibe with the nice breeze of air and a lot of greenery to enjoy the good weather while watching your free show. 👍👍 Kid friendly environment and good place to bring your fur babies too. …
Peter Santiago
So proud that Houston has such a wonderful free venue for everyone to enjoy! Perfect place to bring out of town friends and family!
Marvin Blum
Went there to enjoy sitting on a bench on the grounds, soaking up a bit of sun.
Dustin Sturgill
Such a fun place to watch a show, or just roll down a big hill. We've been bringing the family here for free entertainment since I can remember, and it never gets old. Houston is incredibly lucky to have this, thank you to everyone who puts in an effort to make this place work!
Gagan Srivastava
Great public park with lots of exciting events all year, especially spring and fall. Such as this annual kite festival.
Christy Wheeler
The MoTown show was amazing as always. We always have a great time!
Britbrat
I have absolutely always loved this place. The performances are exceptional and it is always so clean and well maintained. A great way to experience other cultures and music genres.
DeAndra Norwood - Gomez
Motown Music & More Showcase was awesome! Family tradition since 2003!
Michael Melgares
Miller outdoor is a Houston treasure. We've seen a lot of great shows there, for only the price of gas! We used to go all of the time before we had young kids (8pm shows can present a problem if you can't catch a daytime performance), but now that my kids are a bit older I'm hoping to go more often again.
They have covered seating, with tickets available for pickup. Seats that aren't claimed at the start of the show are released to anybody to didn't grab a ticket.
As long as the weather is nice, we prefer to picnic on the hill. It has a great view of the stage and makes for good family time to share food and let the kids roll around a bit when they get antsy.
We've seen so many great shows at the theater, every season there is something wonderful to watch.
Lu Lucca
Amazing place!
Great performance!
Thank You Houston for such a nice initiative to bring culture to all, permeating accessible cultural richness to many who, many times would not have the opportunity.
Charles Jackson
Had a great time at the Miller outdoor theatre this past weekend
Desiree Savory
Love going here. A great place to just hang out and enjoy the arts. Thank You!!!
Lacey Trevino
Amazing date night and family atmosphere. I love packing my picnic and sitting on the hill to watch a free play with my kiddos.
Swasti Niramaya
A super cool place to see awesome performances. You gotta have your picnic mat. Chairs, umbrella, or a tent are not allowed.
Don
Very nice environment, but it was hot :( went there around 8 pm. Bring your portable chairs and bug spray :)
Michelle Salas
Loved the St. Patrick’s day performance!
Vanessa Lobo
One of the best places in Houston where entertainment is always free ✨ I've loved going there for years, shows are of great quality and even in the hot months, there's a breeze on top of the hill.
Ravi Shanker
It was excellent. The park was so nice to walk around
Charles B.
I always enjoy the Houston Shakespeare Festival in the late summer. Always great plays. Good concerts as well. I never really go for the seats, I love sitting on the hill in the back and having a picnic.
Josephine McGill
Really great place to have lived performance for FREE. We enjoyed every time we visited.
TAMMIE INGRAM
We had a blast!! The singing, the atmosphere, and the layout is amazing. Even the bathrooms were clean. The lawn area was perfect for picnicing and the stage gave the children a chance to be up close with those actually performing. It was a fun-filled day!!
IntrepidTeach
Saw Incredible India plus some Columbian dancing while sitting on a blanket. Show was great, but the park is very dark at night, use a flashlight to find your way out.
Vinanti Mistry
Our most favorite Houston destination. They bring some of the best shows from around the world. With young children it's nice to be able to watch this performances in relaxed way. Good for exposing kids to performance without spending too much money.
Vivi y Oscar Romero
It’s a great venue. The parking lot is about 3 minuta walking from the theater. It’s a easy walk. If you sin on the hill, don’t forget to bring a picnic mat or loan chairs, and definitely some water. No glass containers.
Graviela Ponse
Here for the Festival Chicano.. Main band my favorite La Fiebre
Sam Mason
Parking was remote, but, not a long walk. Seating on the hill was crowded, so, arrive early if that's where you are sitting. Pavillion seating was good. Although the temp was warm, it wasn't uncomfortable. Visibility to stage was very good. Entertainment value was great!
Nikki Morris
First time watching something here. Staff was friendly and the place was great
Neal Elden
Had an absolute blast here. Sat on the hill....all the guests were pleasant. Really appreciate the hard work the staff puts in to make the overall experience AWESOME
Melina Guyer
It was awesome!! I'm so glad I went. And will go back for more!!
Fredy Amaya
I had a blast at the Miller outdoor theater! I had never been before so I took the family out to watch the Michael Jackson experience & it was awesome! The performance was very entertaining. I hope they come back next year.
Frankie Muniz
They very often offer free concerts and shows. A wonderful investment that earns itself as a must in Houston. It seriously is a great place to hang with friends and family. The hill makes for quite possibly the easiest way to entertain kids.
My one complaint would be the sound system, as it is often of a huge hindrance. My last experience there was the Marvin Gaye tribute show and I had to step away with how bad the sound person was handling things.
Natalia Regan
Always some fun. Always so festive. Best way to connect with the community.
Victoria Izmalkova
This place always gives exceptional opportunity and ideas for amazing evening on d budget with free performances almost all year around that never disappoint!
This time I decided to post some pics of the concession stand menu (I know everyone is always curious about the menu)
Btw if you just need water or dipping dots - there s a separate window where you can make your purchase without standing in line - nice improvement :)

Yet another enjoyable entertaining evening at Miller Outdoor Theatre!!
Anna I.G.
Always a great place to good and enjoy good shows. I recommend showing up early and make sure you get a good spot. In theory the left side is for lawn chairs and the right side for blankets but they is always people that do what they want so going there early will ensure you get a good spot and most likely you will not have people sitting in chairs right in front of you if you opt for blankets.
Grab some board games, snacks, go with some friends and enjoy a delightful evening!
Salty Lacie
Loved it!! Can't wait to go again. We went to the Electrifying India performance and it was fantastic. We got seats in the theater but hillside seats would have been just fine. Really great for families and the whole space was just neat and clean (restrooms included!). My two littles loved it. No glass containers but you can bring a small cooler as long as it will fit under your seat. Highly recommend!
Donna
Amazing place and for free! Wow. Thank you Miller Outdoor Theater. Here's to another 95 years at least!
Simon Hebdon
Had a fabulous evening with a picnic and a free show. The ballet was first class... Get there early to get a good spot and respect the chairs on the left and blankets on the right (you might struggle to see otherwise)..
Bernardo Engelke
Great outdoor venue. I enjoy having a picnic while watching a symphony.
Isabel Berrios
Such a wonderful evening enjoying the breezy weather and jazz music live ♥️🌹 …
Jorge Flores
Great place nfl draft party was fun
JFlow Acevedo
Amazing Theathre that the city of houston has! Have been coming to this park for 20 years!
Truly enjoyed the Chicano Tejano Music festival this weeked, and it's free!
Angelica Flores
I have gone to Miller many times in my life. I love going over to catch a free show or to take my dog with me or both. Don't expect to Park right next to the theater every time but parking actually usually isn't that bad and it's free.
Edwin Gonzalez
This is a 100 year place to enjoy free concerns. What else you would need?
Shay Lofton
If you don't know about Houston's famous hill, your loss. This is a great place to enjoy a picnic with family or friends and to catch a good free show. Just beware...the parking is a beast.
Kate Dang
My favorite place in Houston ever! Come and check out their performances. To sit on the hill is one of my greatest joy. The concerts are so incredible!
Len Wehrung
Houston Symphony Summer Nights - Went Friday and Saturday nights with my wife and enjoyed it both times. Well played programs of milestone music. Lighting on the front of the stage could have been better - the front of the orchestra, as well as soloists were somewhat in the shadow.
Shirley Pinkney
Was so relaxing and not overcrowded it was good to see kids playing again and people walking their pets
Rachel Brown
Incredible venue and in a great location!
Natalie Gama
Wonderful experience on the hill with my lovely friends after visiting the Houston Museum of Natural Science right around the corner.💕 …
Kevin Joy
Saw the Houston Ballet perform here and what a spectacle! Houstonians keeping it classy. I can't wait to go back.
Alfonso Velasquez
Excellent place with a lot of different activities. The parking is difficult. Arrive early.🫤 …
Rita W Talwar
Very easy, cozy and family event place. We always enjoy going to see all community events. Great facilities too.
Barry Bell
Perhaps the best free concert Ive ever been to. Take chairs and a cooler and sit in the grass on the left looking towards the stage. Just doing blankets and you sit in the grass on the right looking towards the stage. Great venue.
Maryam Samad
Houston's Got Bollywood was the best show ever!! Soulful performances and great dances! Loved it!
Fernando Covas
Excellent venue for concerts and performances, as it allows plenty of spacing, good views of the stage throughout, and the skyline looks awesome! The lawn drains really well, so even if it's rained before a performance, the ground doesn't stay wet. Watch out for middle of summer events, as the sun and heat can get pretty dangerous. Bathrooms and food options could be better.
Victoria C
I went on Mo town night with some
co workers had a great time. They kept up with the restrooms very clean and the hills where nice and clean as well. I will be returning can't wait!
Sharon Fletcher
Seating under the Pavillion has spacious walkways making it easy to get to the very clean bathrooms! Great atmosphere that is family friendly!
Nathaniel Kewanyama
Relaxing after physical therapy. Great place to reflect on life problems and finds joy in scenery
Chandra Donaldson
Always a wonderful experience we love the concerts on the lawn this time we are Heard the Houston symphonic band they were wonderful
Norma Salazar
Lovely!! Every event is a joy!!(5 de Mayo celebration!!)
Renee L
First time attending MOT and it was pretty terrific! We brought a picnic and blanket, sat in one of the socially distanced squares, and enjoyed a bottle of wine with our meal.
No cost to attend. You can sit in covered seating at no cost if you call same day as performance when tickets are made available. But it's really quite nice to casually dine and enjoy the performance from the grassy hill. Super family friendly. Kids were playing quietly and I even saw a couple of well behaved dogs.
T S
This is a wonderful way to experience world class music with out the concern of price. Lawn seats are family friendly, kids can be kids. If you are looking for a more traditional concert experience, purchase seats in advance. Advised to not bring your dog (for the sake of barking). We are here in the Houston heat, and at the top of the hill, there has been a lovely breeze since the start. Feel free to bring your own chairs, blankets, snacks drinks and even alcohol. (No glass please)
henry cadena
Lots of fun and free events here. Great place to workout as well. I love this park
Mr. Phil
There is nothing like a free evening show at the park. There is always a wonderful mix of different people and I have yet to come across someone that was not polite. Thanks to all who support the arts! I find sitting on the hill cooler and more comfortable. Bring a picnic if you want. The snack bar is also decent and sells beer. Watch the people and enjoy the show!
Mohamed Said
The atmosphere here is full of family values.
The shows are lovely, totally free.
U can really enjoy ur night here.
Jorge Bell
Great venue. Great show . Great people for the "Motown and More" show. Will send a check to help support the organizations free concerts in the park. First time a the venue. I was visiting with family from out off town.
Yue Jiang
Great performance but there were a lot empty sites a front of me but when I got my tickets, they were far back. I think Mill needs to improve their tickets distribution mothed.
Mark Harrison
It was great. My wife and I celebrate our first date 28 years ago at the Miller Outdoor Theatre "The Ebony Opera"
PRKristyna Torres-Cruz
Always great shows and free for our community! The kids can run on the lawn and it's separate from the actual seats. Lots of bathrooms. Perfect setup.
Yvonne Rodriguez
Very relaxing and weather was perfect
Alison Kerrn
Absolutely beautiful symphony! Loved it. Parking is crazy- so many free parking spots around the park and yet it was completely packed. Recommend to get there very early to see performances. Huge lawn to sit on and several benches. Restrooms and park maps are also present.
Sylvia Rocha Flinn
We must have attended on the most perfect night! The breeze was nice, it wasn’t crowded, we got to sit in seats under the theatre’s covered area. The restrooms were clean and the ushers were friendly and happy, loved it!
Felipe Bobby “Aleister Felix” Gaspar
Enjoyable nice weather and venue
Randall ard
Quality Straight Ahead Jazz music last Saturday, great vibe , friendly people! Hippy Hill was lit!
Roberto Cordero

Emery Mitchamore (Mitchamore Insurance)
We sat in the grass on the hill and enjoyed the Dr. Seuss program.. They put on a good show and interacted with the audience during the program
Titan Capri
Great Theater! Great concert! Belinda Davis was magical!
M R
Excellent place to go alone, with a loved one or the whole family. Check calendar for shows and pick the one u like tu e most. Select tickets and pick seating. Go to your email and print them out. The day of performance make sure to arrive 15 minutes earlier. Parking is plenty and free. Suggestion: bring your own snacks and drink, preferably water. And enjoy the show. Definitely a must when season in open!!! Always great performances and fantastic time.
Pam Clayburn
Always a good time...come enjoy free ticketed events or join us on the hill...remember lawn chairs on left and blankets on the right...don't be rude and set up a lawn chair on the right...no one else around you can see
Andrea Valentine
Free event for various shows /movies. Outdoors so plan accordingly. Parking can be an issue but it’s free. Great for a picnic with entertainment.
LaToya Brooks
I absolutely love this place. I’ve been going for years. It’s a great place to catch a performance on the weekends. You can sit in the seated area but tickets( free) are needed, or you can have a nice picnic on the hill. Very family friendly and there is a concession area as well.
Johnny Talamantes
Absolutely love this place everytime we come.
Paula Riggs
I attended a free Don Quixote Ballet with orchestra. Miller outdoor theatre and the sponsors are to be commended for providing wonderful absolutely free entertainment. Bringing art to the masses.
Adrienne Louden
Absolutely my favorite place to go for the arts in Houston. Definitely a great place to celebrate culture and diversity.
Kevin Hofacker
This is an excellent outdoor theater with free events on pretty much every Friday night spring through fall. There is a large parking lot making it easy to drive to. You can get a free ticket to sit in the permanent seating area, but the majority of people choose to sit up on the hill. The hill has two sides one for blankets and one for chairs, so bring the one you enjoy! You can also bring food and drinks which I highly suggested. If you forget or just don't feel like bringing anything there is a concession stand where to can buy a range of food and drinks including alcohol. Great play to have a date or a family night!
jessamyn tate
The scenery and ambiance are magical, plus u can't beat free performances that are top notch. Within walking distance of the reflection pool and gardens/ fountains.
Latonya Chatmon
The family wanted to enjoy a day in the park for 2022"Mother's Day.It wasn't too hot and I picked out the perfect spot with four tables under a few trees and one of my aunt's put up two canapes. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We wre close to the hills and not far from a beautiful waterfall and watched the red park train pass by with passengers on it.
Galal Dawelbeit
A spectacular Independence day fireworks show along with the music of the Houston Grand Symphony and the powerful vocals of Houston's own Chelsea Cymone!! A night like no other!!!
B B
Saw Don Quixote ballet with my bestfriend. It was beautiful and the fireworks after the show was neat.
Lisa Hakemack
I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't super crowded and parking isn't bad if you get there early.
MC Glasgow
Years of memorable shows here. Great place to bring the family. Lawn chairs on the left/blankets to the right.
Paola Guerrero
Amazing..always have a wonderful time...magical hill
Tim JarheadtheForsaken Nealy
It was really cool to see all the people out there!!!
Charles W
Of all the activities the virus affected, attending events here was the one i missed the most. It was so great to get back to MOT last weekend even if it was the ballet! I always sit up on the hill on the blanket side and this performance experience was identical to my last event from 2019. I can hardly wait for the Houston Symphony performances and everything else that will be on stage this season. It is the best entertainment my money can buy!!!!
Gregory Russ
Great atmosphere. Happened to be walking my dog nearby and decided to bring my dog and listen to the chill music. So many people were out there, but everyone was mostly seated and listening attentively to the music. Will definitely head back in the future.
Joanne Courtney
My first experience was excellent. I went to see Hamlet and totally enjoyed myself. Thank you for the free event.
edwin pineda
All reserved seats are free had a great time at Son Rompe Pera show
Benjamin Nicholas
Wonderful weather (but it's not like that's the venue's doing!), and a beautiful performance professionally presented. Super kid friendly, too.
Nathan Henderson

If you live in Houston you should be a ardent follower of the outdoor theater. Top notch free programming, one of the best most underappreciated venues in Houston
Thomas Boeckers
Really like this place for the free shows! Check out their calendar.
Sehmus Ozden
A great place to relax after a busy week. The hill is so nice, very breezy, gorgeous for watching free theater, concerts and live performances.

Great place
Angelica
Excellent venue if it is not too hot or cold outside. You can bring your snacks, drinks and, have a picnic. Performances are always very professional and fun to watch.
Ben Hernandez
Beautiful performance on a beautiful night. I truly recommend attending a performance here. Especially in 2023 when they are celebrating their 100th year.
Sandra Estefania “Steff” Lazo-Herencia
I love this spot. Pack a picnic and bring your pup! There's nothing more powerful than a city willing to invest in the arts for the benefit of its citizens. Underwriting community arts and providing free access to performerming arts is invaluable to us all. We are all better for it.
Philip Chou
Great outdoor theater with green lawn
SKC Bœn¡t'à
Best outdoor free fun family fabulous festive place to hang out with friends and family
Luciano Oiticica Lemgruber
Very nice 👌. Great place 👍. …
Todd Alan Green
I have been to many shows here and have never not enjoyed it. Bring your blanket or chairs and a food and drink basket and sit on the lawn for some great free entertainment. Insiders tip: they release the seating area about 10 prior to show start so if you have tickets for the seats you need to be early or on time. If you are on the lawn and want a seat just wait until they get released. They will announce this. Enjoy!
Michael McGinity
Great performance of Shakespeare's King Lear by the Houston Shakespeare Festival team.
Free for all. So come and see this week!
shiva sahba
Is the best thing ever. The Houston symphony was amazing. It is such a li ely place even in 100° temperatures
Nicole Price
We try to come out here at least once a year for the Chicano Festival , definitely glad it came back this year! It was much needed and to see David Lee Garza it was great! I haven't had a bad experience yet
Rene
Great place to see a free concert!
Harry KQ
Great place to catch an outdoor play with yr friends while sitting on the hill. One of the best features of Houston!
Ryan Sanchez
Came here for the 99th anniversary and omg the music was amazing. We sat in the grass hill and just enjoyed the show. I can’t wait till the 100th!!
Elizabeth Mule
Miller outdoor theater is always wonderful. I have many fond. Memories of Shakespeare in the park and other performances.
Santiago El Awad
The outdoor theater is simply amazing. You have the chance to reserve tickets and seat inside the theater or simply take a blanket and sit in the park.
Perfect place for a date or to enjoy your Friday/Saturday evening!
Bex Rathbun
Great community events. Free movie nights are fun, they have even had free Shakespeare in the park. Parking can be a little difficult if you don't arrive early for such events. The venue itself is well kept, outdoors so there isn't air conditioning. There is covered seating however.
Colin Ryan
Saw America there last Friday it was a great show they redid the grass there beautiful highly recommend people make a donation to Miller outdoor theater for those wonderful free shows we received
Romales Shelton
Great family orientated entertainment center
Perla Sánchez
Great view wherever you sit. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair.
Duane Crosby
I always enjoy my time here. A great place to visit for the free concerts.
Reggie Chin
Our first time back at Miller since 2019. We saw a really entertaining show by HITS Theater. It was great to see these young performers doing a collection of songs and dance from well known musicals.
B
nice outdoor theater. free shows!
Debbie Diggles
This Theater is one of the best places in Houston. Our family has attended plays, concerts, movies etc here for years. It's always a good experience with lots of great memories! If we ever move away this is the one place I'd truly miss. Wonderful people who have kept it free so everyone can experience truly great performances!
Darren Mosier
One of my favorite places in all of Houston. Live music or shows all summer long. Bring a picnic, come early, hang out with friends and family.
Roger Paredes
I love this place because they provide a vast variety of free concerts and shows for everyone. They also do a great job of making sure it's all well organized, clean, and safe. I have gone to many events, including the symphony nights and it is always terrific!
Cameron Ptak
They put on good shows for free and if you aren't able to get a ticket, which is just a way of saving a seat they are still free, they release all unoccupied seats to anyone with out a ticket and i've always been able t get a seat, many times a very good seat. There really aren't any bad seats though. And if you would like you can also bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit on the hill the theatre is on.
SamanthaReneeA
Great place for live performances.Has a nice hill to sit on and overlook the stage. Best of all most of it , if not all is free.
Derrick Martin
Great venue ans sound was wonderful
N. Grant
Love the free events and concerts in the park! The park is also really beautiful with so many places to sit and gather with friends and family.
Sharon Guzman
Live tribute to Journey...the band did an awesome performance
fred wang
This place is great! They offer a wide-ranging variety of shows, from concerts, dance performances, musical performances, plays, movies, and more all for free. There is a covered seated area and an uncovered hill where you can bring blankets and chairs to watch from. Some performances are ticketed which means you need to go there earlier in the same day to get free tickets for the seated area. You don't need tickets for the hill area and it's first come, first serve for a spot. If you don't get a ticket for the seated area beforehand, you can still sit in the seated area as they open it up 5 minutes before the performance for everyone to grab whatever free seats are remaining.
Sonya Hollis-Roten (They call me grandma!)
I was a part of something beautiful! The dances were all based on modern and past experiences and even if I could not relate to all of the performances I felt for the performer. At times I felt like I was a part of some of the stories being told through the dance. It was a wonderful night and getting the reserved seating a breeze but be warned snack bar is so expensive.. 5 dollars for a bucket of popcorn.
RENEE WATSON
I was very disappointed that the show only lasted one hour. Also, you could sit in the purchased seating area if people didn't show up or arrived after the show had started. I hope the up coming show last more than an hour because if it doesn't it's not worth me driving all the distance fighting traffic just to see a one hour show.
Asha Chandran
Been always wanting to go here. Finally went to see Much Ado about Nothing. The show was amazing. I loved it! And the atmosphere was nice. I'm glad it was later in the evening because of the daylight heat. It was a easy night. We found parking by the zoo which was nearby, less than a 10 min walk. The theater had a lot of seating and a nice hill behind us for more seating. We didn't sit there because it's been monsoon rains these days. They have 2 ginormous fans in the theater which made me so happy cause as gross as it is, I'm a sweater. All in all would definitely go again. I used this night as a date night and it's definitely one of my top favs!
Missie Hills
I love taking my family here. You can bring a whole picnic basket with wine and beer. The shows are always great. The atmosphere is great for our toddler who can run around. Parking is always an issue of course, so we try to arrive early enough to get a spot.
Priscila F
What a nice time we had at this place.. Next time I will go there to see another performance.. I love it
Zelma Wilson-Lawrence
Love the fact that lawn seating areas were squared/ blocked off so the there was distancing between participants. It was very public, but gave you privacy as you stayed within your square seating area. I loved it.
Dion Trist
One of my favorite places to go!
Heberta Marcial
We enjoy coming here any time of the year 😍school day with the kiddos. …
L. M.
I enjoyed the event. I am an avid jazz fan and I love Kirk. The only thing was one of the speakers was giving off feedback every now and then. I enjoyed the diversity in artists.
I also ordered the funnel fries and they were good. It took a bit to get them though, but it seems ther other people received their food in a good amount of time.
Christie H
Fun hanging out with friends & family on the Lawn @ Miller Outdoor Theatre. FREE quality performances - from the Houston Symphony, various professional theatre groups, fun children's performances etc. There are Men & Women flushing restrooms & sinks there.
For the Lawn:
Bring your own blankets & cushions/lawn chairs to sit on (1 side of the Lawn is chairs only vs blankets/cushions on the other side).
Bring your own food & drinks (we pack a vino or 2 & bring a small cooler for chilled snacks/pre-mixed drinks) ❤.
And don't forget to put all your trash in the trashcans or take it with you!
Toya M
Always pleasant to go to Miller Outdoors. The kite festival was beautiful.
Itzy Villela
It's clean, very spacious, and loud whenever a performance is on stage. There is many seats. The seats are all full? No worries they is a lot of space in the back to view from the grass, if you don't mind sitting on the grass. Restrooms are always near and they even open a snack bar to grab a bite for the show.
Dianna Retzlaff
Wonderful variety of free entertainment. A gem.
Happy 100th Anniversary!
Bob Martin
I love the concerts here! And it’s free!! What more could you ask for!
Rachel Stuart
Amazing show! Fun experience! We sat on the hill. Arrived about an hour early. Had no problem parking in the zoo lot and got a good spot on the hill. We'll definitely go back!
Veronica Garcia (V. Garcia)
I brought some out of town guests to see some of the best things to experience in Houston knew they had to experience a musical at Miller Outdoor Theatre. They were impressed by concept of lawn seating on a hill. They loved that you could bring in your own picnic and that it was a dog friendly place. The sound quality was great! The actors and stage crew did an amazing job! Overall my friends were very impressed by the experiences had to offer, and the Miller Outdoor Theatre was one of their favorite stops.
Mrs. B.
Had a wonderful time picnicking on the Hill for Marian's Song Opera and the Houston Ballet! The pods are great for social distancing, they should keep that going indefinitely. In the past, you would be blanket to blanket with other visitors. I like the new measures and will definitely return for future events.
Diana Jaramillo
My family and I enjoyed amazing show, I recommend this place.
Josalyn J. Cano, Real Estate
One of my favorite places in Houston, hands down. Excellent shows and performances, they never disappoint. I suggest arriving extra early to get a better parking spot, have time to enjoy the hill, walk around, fly a kite and pick your spot either on the hill or in the seats. Ticketed events are still free- you just have to pick up your ticket at the designated time. Great for a date , hanging with friends and family outing.
Richard Ramon
Love this place. Waited for a seat under cover. No problem, lots of availability. Strong overhead fans and AC made the time quite pleasant to hear/watch the concert.
Rodney D.
What a great time to see America at Miller Outdoor Theater on a nice eve! Hadn't been there in 25 years and won't be a stranger... thank you Miller Outdoor Theater!
Dan Hines
Great time as usual. Reserved tickets and sat under the roof. It's free but you just need to reserve unless you take your last minute chances and take what if any seats are left after reserved has been seated. Sitting on the grass on the hill is a good option as well. Bring your blanket and whatever else you want. There are concessions there as well. No reservations for sitting on the hill. Parking can be hard sometimes. You can use the zoo parking for free or pay at the museum of natural science covered garage but it is small and frills kind of quick.
TREW Realty World
A very unique experience to enjoy my favorite popular music performance for free, only at the Miller Outdoor Theatre with a 99-year history.
Yi
Love it! Great theater! Of course the professional ones are better but even the high school ones are good entertainment. Occasional trouble with sound or the mike, and sitting on the grass really doesn't do justice because you can't see much, but all in all one of my favorite past times. Especially in the summer time, even though it's hot, it's bearable at that time of the night.
Lucille Garcia
The best free entertainment spot. The cheeseburger basket was top notch, really good, homemade burger patty, seasoned right, melted cheese along with seasoned fries. Awesome!
Gerardo Enrique Heras Araujo
Espectacular we went to Nella concert was really nice
Robert Thompson
Motown dancing in the streets. Great show every year, and you can't beat the price
Renita Patterson
Miller Outdoor Theater. Dancin in The Street Motown Review was fantastic, so enjoyable I went Friday night Sunday.
Serita Fenderson
If you are going to be on the hill get there early for a good spot. My show started at 8:15pm so we had people go as early as 3pm to save us a spot. It was worth it. The hill was packed by the time the show started. We brought our own food, beverages, blankets, chairs and umbrellas. Next year we will have a tent and a wagon.
Karen Wester
What a fun and cheap date night! The weather was perfect. We had a great time. Can't wait to go back.
Wini G
This is such a wonderful outdoor theatre. We're in the heart of Texas so it gets extremely hot but the design of this theatre mitigates the heat quite well. To top it off, it's nestled in a park that has a beautiful garden, zoo, and walking trails. The performances held here are epic and oftentimes free for the family.
Take a visit!
Charee Mason
This place has a lot of activities throughout the summer into the early-to-mid fall here in Houston and it's free. All of the events are free and it's a great place for families to come and listen to great music and have great entertainment and to be entertained. Just watching it on the hill at Miller Outdoor Theater is a wonderful spot to do. You can also go to seating however you must go pick up the tickets early in the morning or middle in the afternoon and be there an hour before Showtime to have good seating. Other than that everything else is great. You will have to find parking which is available across the street at the park so this is a great spot to enjoy.
Phyllis Parks
Absolutely loved Shakespeare in the park ❤️!
Seating nice and the fans made August in Houston lovely 😍 …
bryne savoy
Went to the purple experience and it was amazing. From the right distance you would Swear it was prince himself on stage.
David Prochaska
I imagined struggling to hear the stage while people talk on their phones and kids run around playing. I was really impressed. Sound was great, performance was great and it was very comfortable laying in the grass. I also loved occasionally looking up as airplanes flew over. Also, I think this is the only hill in Houston so it's good fun to run or roll down.
Roxanne Green
Wonderful weather. Perfect night to go and listen to music with friends
Juan Alvarez
Always great here. Been coming since I was a kid, sharing the experince with my kids. Always a fun time!!!!
Chana Washington
Very well maintained with good parking for disabled
Wonderful show with ample security. Thank you for bringing this jewel back.
Kevin Boyle
We have been here many times for dance and music events. It is a great outdoor venue . The acoustics are very good. Looks like they installed new seats recently. The only knock on the place is that parking is a long way off.
Cesar
Amazing place!! Highly recommend especially for people who are visiting Houston.
Ja'Milla Lomas
We went to see Wonder Woman and had a choice of seats under the roof. Although it was rather warm, we were able to feel some a/c coming from the stage.
Sound system is really good. Picture quality really good. On-site staff and security nice and a fairly good choice of concessions. Parking was excellent. No better way to spend a weeknight than at my favorite outdoor theatre. Miller is a staple!
Adam Homeyer
Doesn’t get much better than free concerts in the park! 🎭 💃🏼 🕺🏼 …
Abhijit Chakraborty
It is a nice place to visit concerts. And above all it is free. The covered seating area is free but ticketed. So if you want to sit in the covered area, you have to buy tickets on the same day in the morning. It can't be bought online. The hill is non-ticketed and a great place to relax, sitting on your picnic blankets under the open sky while enjoying the show. Overall an excellent venue to spend your Friday nights.
Donna Murray
Just randomly took a friend there and were treated to a local schools Jazz band.
They were delightful 😊. …
sheetal goel
Went here to watch the Houston Ballet. This is a great place to spend a evening when it is not to hot. They have lots of parking, restrooms and seating area. Just bring a blanket and the schedule of things happening are usually online. On a normal day without any plays this people still hangout here.

Chairs to the left, blankets to the right.
I've seen people frustrated for not knowing this.
Great free entertainment for the whole family with free parking. You can bring your own food and drinks (even alcohol but no glass containers) but they have a concession stand that sells food and drinks as well.
Again, great place!
Carla Latin
Awesome it was so cold!!
But fun for Bri and Yours Truly!!
Mustaq Retiwala
Great Place for an outdoor picnic or a walk!
B
Great. It reminded me of when I used to perform here and visit many time. I brought my daughter for the first time. All was perfect except for the fact that before the concert the greeter decided to bring up getting vaccinated. While I respect anyones decision it is best to leave personal medical decisions out of this public venue. It is a very touchy subject for some and many do not use logic or facts when discussing. Had I not been with two 10 year olds I would have left. We were there for the event not for societies misconceptions. I say this bc the announcer decided to recommend mask for all ,"especially those unvaccinated." P.S. from THE HORSES MOUTH CDC. Since day one. Vaccinations are not 100% effective. Those vaccinated can TRANSMIT and GET the virus. Those vaccinated may not know they have Covid or Delta because it supresses your symptoms. The vaccine is only 66% effective against the Delta so let us choose words wisely and stop promoting division. EVERYONE MASK UP. FIND FACTS NOT FEELINGS NOR CLIFF NOTES. CDC SAYS IT OUTRIGHT. DO YOUR DUE DILENGENCE BEFORE SPEAKING.
Brittany LeMoine
I've been going to Miller Outdoor my whole life. Sometimes we come early to get the seats but a lot of times it's fun to just sit on the hill and have a picnic. They are always having fun shows to watch and it's always free, so we love that.
Sarah Shelly
Loved the atmosphere at the theatre! Dogs are welcome and everyone seemed to be in a good mood. Food is allowed on the lawn and parking is easily accessible. Even having handicap parking. The lawn itself is quit steep so be prepared to climb up. The acoustics were very great from where I sat.
Niki S
Went to see a jazz performance. Aside from this performance, my husband and I have been here for many picnics in the park. Bring your chairs, blankets and coolers so you can enjoy a nice performance for free on the Hill. You won’t regret it! Opt for evenings in March or October when the humidity in Houston is lower!
Lacey Castro
It's honestly a great place overall to see live entertainment. You're allowed to bring your own food, drinks, blankets, seating, and just relax with friends and loved ones at the free shows. Nice place and feels safe at night.
angel moreno
I love miller outdoor theater very nice good view from any seat. Recommend must visit.
Nidia Alberto
I hadn't been here in years but yo my surprise it was great. Sound was awesome. Amenities were clean and within distance. I didnt buy any food but if you don't bring your own cooler they sell all sorts of snacks and drinks. I'm definitely am going back.

Best place in town for an outdoor evening of relaxation, and it is free! The Houston Symphony plays the best music and we came back the second night for more. Bring blanket or chairs or both to enjoy the hill top, the sky, and of course the stage. Bring food and drinks soft or hard. Or purchase from a concession stand. Plenty of free parking spaces and I prefer to park at the zoo areas.
Kortni Bobortney
We went to see Lady Smith Black Mombazo and were pleasantly surprised with the theater. Although events are ticketed, they are always free. Lines to get tickets are long, but they move fast. Huge fans sit overhead and cool the audience even during the hottest nights (we went during August and we were STILL cool!). Patrons have the option to sit right outside of the theater where they can sit on blankets or chairs, drink wine, eat food and enjoy the shows from the comfort of the grass. We enjoyed popcorn, lemonade and chores from the concession stand which was very delicious. All in all we will be returning.
Bruce Hewitt
This is a great place to watch a concert or other event. It is FREE! Concessions are good as well.
Linda Tognini
Always a great experience especially lawn seating. It's dog friendly too. Bring a blanket, drinks and food and enjoy the show under the stars.
Joseph Zimmer
The Miller Outdoor Theater is a real gem. We love catching free outdoor shows in the summertime. I've seen the Houston symphony on multiple occasions, and Suesical the musical recently. I've also seen a funk show and a few other shows. I've been to the Miller Outdoor Theater five times in 2019. Loved every bit of it. Seating in front is free with a free ticket you can pick up at the ticket booth, next door, prior to the show. You do not need a ticket if you choose to sit up on the hill directly in front of the theater. Both seating options have their benefits. For instance, if you have young kids that don't feel comfortable sitting for hours in a chair, you may be more comfortable in the less formal hill environment. If you prefer sitting where your view has very little chance of being impeded or you simply can't get to top of the hill, you may prefer to get a ticket and sit up front. The website has a calendar of the events.
Mr. No Tengo Dinero
Cool place! Outdoor events are well done over here!
Ryan Geist
Great place to spend an evening with the family/friends for free. Just check the schedule to see performances and their times. You can get seating by showing up day off the performance and getting tickets (also free- you just have to claim in person.) Alternatively there is a large lawn area to sit/lay and enjoy the shows as well.
Suzi Bianco
I love this place. Acoustics are pretty good lighting is great after the sun goes down, and the sloped lawn is very comfortable. It just feels nice. The shows are great quality too, and very eclectic.
melanie woody
Wonderful opportunity to hear and see quality performing arts. Sit under the awning with big ceiling fans or up on the top of the hill for a great breeze. The opera we saw was translated on a screen above the stage, so it was perfect for an intro to opera! The hill is divided for blankets (on the left) and lawn chairs (on the left), so everyone can see. The Phillip Glass orchestral production of his South America-inspired symphony has become a new favorite after hearing it on the hill!
Herbert Johnson
Great night to enjoy good music and exciting dance performances at a great facility. Loving it!
Travis Inman
Houston's performing arts gem! High caliber, professional performers free! ❤️
Free Expressionz Design LLC
A great free year round venue for shows and concerts in the park. Usually have events weekly. And sitting on the hill is a must. Their website is a great source for all the info you need. Located in one of the Staples in the heart of Houston, Herman Park! Depending on the type of show parking can be packed so I'd recommend getting there 20-30 mins. Prior to showtime.
Tom Peacock
Open again!
Seating is planned to be spread out into widely spaced “pods.” But the pods are not reserved and no one enforces social distancing as the hill fills up. So the hill is really awkwardly planned open seating.
If you get the the hill two hours early and grab a pod, don't expect social distancing to be enforced. Expect to have neighbors between you and the next group. That’s just the way things flow.
Angel Fultz-Smith
I'm a native Houstonian in my 30s and up until last Friday had never been to Miller Outdoor Theatre (and this is one of many things at the park I never experienced as a child.) Often times I go to Hermann Park and wonder if I had the worst parents in the world. But, enough of my sob story.
Miller Theatre is super awesome! It's an outdoor theatre that was designed in the early 1900s and puts on free events for locals to enjoy. Events vary from concerts, ballet, comedy to movies. Events are always free to sit on the hill, and if you really want a chair, you can go to the box office the morning of events to get tickets (also free.) Honestly, I was concerned that my ability to see and hear would be restricted way up on the lawn, but the show was great. I also was worried there would be so many people, it would be uncomfortable and crowded, but nope, I was wrong. I could not have had a more pleasant time and look forward to my next experience!
Letae DeVee
Awesome venue. Went to see Dancing in the Street: The Motown Revue. People started leaving early for fear of rain, which opened up the covered seating area. Everyone sitting on the hill were encouraged to move closer to the stage, under the large awning and the show went on. Had a blast and will definitely return for future events!
Tony Nguyen
Love the shows and the fact that you can be outdoor on a hill to watch the shows. They allow you to have wine and stuff with out glass to sit back and enjoy the show. Note lawn chairs are on the left side or right. Please don't setup in the middle cause your blocking other people who are sitting on the floor, just common courteous.
Katherine Kim
If you aren't going to Miller Theatre, you are missing out! There are so many great, free performances. I love seeing Shakespeare in a setting where you can bring a picnic and watch kids and dogs react to the performance. My favorite moment may be when there was a dog on stage for the Two Gentlemen of Verona, and every pup in the place was at full attention. The audience may not be silent, but I've never had a problem hearing, and the performers are great.
Daphne C
Love the Miller outdoor theatre for so many reasons. Had the opportunity to be here several times and their productions are always amazing. Last night we went to see James and the giant peach and it was such an amazing play. I love the fact that these are great productions for free. Go the morning of the show to get free tickets, make sure you go early as they go by pretty fast, so you can be under the cover sitting and closer to the stage or bring a blanket and climb up the hill to enjoy the show under the stars either way is a great opportunity to spend some quality time with the kiddos.
Lisa Williams
This place was great. The Motown Revue was spectacular. Great time and atmosphere.....enjoyed by all attendees
Phyllis Breedlove
Great place for free entertainment. Recently went to ", Tina Turner" revue. Performance was terrific. Leaf singer, Cookie" had the sounds and the moved. Would have paid for this
Johnny Culp
Great place to take the family or a friend or a date to enjoy the free music, theater and other shows and events. Check the schedule then bring a picnic and a blanket 15 minutes before for a spot atop the hill or come earlier in the day to pick up the free tickets for the seating area. Miller is a great venue for all of Houston for cultural events.

I love seeing the different performances here. The architectural concept of the stage is so that it is safer and shaded, as well as amplifying the sound. Even if you are far away, you can still hear the sounds coming from the stage. This is amazing. It saves you from Sun and rain, and even if there is no performance, you can go and sit there and relax. Miller Outdoor Theater. Thanks! :-)
Tianlu Redmon
Went to a Houston Shakespeare Festival performance there. Great venue, lovely place to spend a summer evening in Houston.
bill roberts
Considering that all performances served here are free, it's quite amazing the theatre is well maintained. Even the restrooms are well maintained - which they are air conditioned. Parking is also free and without issue All in all, the theatre served to me a memorable experience.
Cherly Jeune
I realize that they may need to have a designated chair area and and blanket area. I say this because it was really hard to see when ppl bring chairs and your the one using a picnic blanket. Otherwise, I love it here!! People are really nice too and keep good watch over their dogs if brought
Andrew Delicata
I can't say enough about wonderful this place is. A true gem in Houston, nothing like it anywhere in the U.S. High quality programming, fantastic staff, plenty of lawn space. I just wish they had better wine for sale for purchase during intermission
Dennis B. McGuire
I had never been out here during the 15 years I lived in Houston before, from 1968-1983, but I finally made it for a couple of recent free concerts. The best deal in town! Sit on the hill on a beautiful, warm Houston night, and look at the stars and the jets flying overhead, and enjoy the show!
Jeff Boyd
Good concert by a great cover band! Easy access, very nice venue, the best I've ever seen as far as parking and getting in and out. Loved it!!!!
Laurette Arnold Huckabay
Always great entertainment here and a family atmosphere. You can bring lawn chairs or a blanket to sit on the hill or purchase tickets for covered seating. With kids, we opt for the hill. We bring a picnic meal and enjoy the outdoors while being treated to a show!
Nick Lecourias
Wonderful Performing Arts Theater.
First come first serve seating on the hill. Bring a lawn chair. You can get free seats in the auditorium if you arrive at 11:00 a.m. to acquire them. Show starts on Friday nights at 8:00p.m.
Texas Boy
Let me start of by saying it is FREE. Where else can you watch quality performance in front of a live audience for free in Houston? Please check out their schedule. I do. Now keep in mind this is an outdoor theater, so bring a blanket or chair if you are not fortunate enough to get an actual seat. Oh, btw is a great place to watch the fireworks..
Zachary Gibson
Beautiful place with plenty of sky. Normally high attendance to events, so come an hour early or RideShare if you want easy parking.
Yard chairs are optional, but we usually bring blanket or yoga mats with a picnic basket of course.
Kevin Chang
Awesome venue for free live shows in the summertime! Check the schedule on their website or fb events. Tickets are available in advance for covered seating, any leftover seats are released just before showtime. Bring a blanket or portable seats and have a picnic on the lawn. Setup chairs on the lawn stage left and blankets go stage right, so no ones view gets blocked 😁 Arrive early for a better parking spot.
Hamidreza N
Great place for night fun! Have been here many times with friends. We just sit on the hill and enjoy performances that range from ballets to orchestras, music, and plays. Bring a blanket, some snacks maybe, sit on the hill, and enjoy.
Ricky Randle
Tribute To Prince Is Totally Awesome...
Eileen B
A must for any Houstonian who loves the outdoors and the arts. An incredibly diverse stage, offering everything from opera and Shakespeare to Chinese dance and Motown blues. The perfect place to get with friends on a beautiful summer night. Bring a blanket, a picnic basket, and your favorite drinks while you sit on the hill and enjoy the best that all cultures and eras have to offer. You won't be disappointed!
Kim Montes
I don’t know why it took so long for us to discover Miller Outdoor Theatre, but once we did, it has become a favorite destination. Arrive early to get good seats. You won’t be disappointed! I love the variety of performances that reflects the diversity of Houston. Truly a treasure! Can’t wait to see more!
Zeandra Mathura
The Houston Ballet was amazing! Even though we had not gotten seats earlier in the day, after the first act, we were allowed to sit in any open seats. The quality of the dancing was as excellent as in the Wortham, great dancers, great show! Don Quixote!! The weather was nice, finding a park was easy in the parking lot. We are so grateful to have a place like Miller with top notch performances for free!
Laura Crouse
Great venue. So wonderful to have a place like this in Houston.
Sara Gonzalez
I go every year can't believe it's been 50 years already last night was great I had a blast
Nette Joseph
Omgggg😍this was my first and best experience i've ever had outdoors. …

Saw ROCO concert. Fascinating new composition, including background graphics of chess game, Checkmate
Sandra
First time here and enjoyed my time with family! Great music and great place for a fun picnic with your favorite food & drinks! Only wished the weather was cooler but it's Texas so we won't let that stop a good time 🍷🧀 🍔🍟🍕🍉 🎶 …
Adam Shepherd
I've been going to this place for years. They have some really high quality performances. The people are friendly and there is a great sense of community at every event. You will usually have to park and walk, but that is to be expected at a place like this and my experience is that traffic flow is handled very efficiently.
Grace Dewald
Best free events in Houston!!! Bring a blanket and a picnic and enjoy every possible production you can think of. Alcohol is allowed just no glass bottles. If you like a back rest you can go ahead of time and get free tickets for the covered seats. Make sure and check their website for upcoming shows or follow them on facebook. Enjoy!!
Vijay Patil
Enjoy the relaxed seating on the hillside and watch the show... And a cool evening breeze will add to the enjoyment! And as the night falls, enjoy the stars above you as well... A remarkable experience in itself!
Anthony Rodriguez
The Best Place to watch top notch shows and performances and it’s all free! A great place for the entire family. Sit son the lawn and have a family picnic.
Allie E
LOVE going to the free events. I recommend bringing snacks, drinks and a blanket to get comfortable. Furry friends are welcomed too :). If you bring a chair, I suggest sitting in the back. You can also wait 5 mins before the play / move starts to try to get free seats.
Patrick Cambron
Ohh yeah it's Miller Time Baby! Back open and ready to go with FREE entertainment, open seating with a family friendly atmosphere with beer for sale. Get to the hip before the hip gets to you!
Michael David
I'm not sure how anyone could give this less than five stars. It is free, there is world-class entertainment (again, free) and you can BYOB.
What you need to know:
Tickets are available for free up to an hour before the show.
If you get a ticket, make sure you are seated 15 minutes prior to curtain, because they will announce that any open seats are free game, at which point you can grab a seat even without a ticket.
Seating on the lawn is great (and sometimes preferable). Bring your blanket or lawn chair and pay attention to which side to sit on for either (don't be the guy that blocks peoples view with a chair on the blanket side).
Bring a picnic and drinks! The theater discourages glass for obvious reasons that it could break, so bring on the boxed wine and beer in a can!
If you are a die-hard theater snob, be aware that you are going to get helicopter flyovers to the medical center, noisy kids, and people who don't care as much as you do. Remember, this is bringing art to the people. For free...
This is one of the best things about Houston. Go to it.
Kenneth Malveaux
Had a great time at the outdoor concert which was the Philadelphia Soul Sound. Had me dancing in our row, which I have not done for a long time. The only thing was the soda I bought was 4 dollars.
Nidya Perez
Love this place! They always have something exciting going on during the summer! Love that you can choose to sit on the grassy hill or get tickets to sit in the theatre seating! Especially love Houston Symphony Summer Nights!
Nkoyo Essien
They always have great shows here and they are mostly free or at least very reasonabley priced. Great location and seating options. Very family friendly. This is one of my top 5 favourite places in Houston.
Catherine Zakes
The Miller Outdoor Theater is a great way to celebrate culture on a budget. It is family friendly and offers a wide variety of programs. Check their schedule to see what is coming up and find something to enjoy. You can also bring your own food, however I believe no glass containers are allowed.
Mija Vera
We are so lucky to have a local theater like this in our city. They host amazing diverse shows and events. Pack a blanket and a picnic to enjoy your show at dusk. Even our kid loves hanging out on the hill!
Magaly Zavala
fun outdoor theater for the whole family... seating is available but you have to show up earlier in the day to get access to covered seating or wait before the show to see if there's trending seats available. also on the hill the right side is for outlasting w blankets to sit on and to the left you can use lawn chairs. there is a concession stand and restrooms. i think it's more fun to bring a picnic also NO GLASS CONTAINERS.
Gregory 7727
Family 👪 friendly I have been here more than once. Come early for good parking. There's always something going on here. Very good atmosphere you can find events during the day or drop by for a night time concert, it's always something exciting and fun happing here see you there😁 ❤️🎉👍👍👍 …
Cristian Vivas
Great outdoors theatre with lot of outside activites
A CF
Whether you enjoy free show from the hill or the seats, you'll have a great experience. Yes, every show is completely free.
PRO TIPS ON HOW TO MILLER THEATRE:
-Bring your own food and drinks, but glass containers are not allowed.
-If you are going with a group or family and want to hangout and be social, or you're with someone you want to snuggle with, sit on the hill.
-If you want to see everything, like actor's faces, sit in the seats.
-You do not need a ticket to sit in the covered seating area. At least 5-10 minutes before shows start, they will release the seats to be occupied by people who don't have tickets. Just wait by the entrances until the announcement is made. I've never not been able to get a seat.
-If you do get tickets, when they release seats you can move and upgrade yourself sometimes by multiple rows.
-On the hill, it's picnic blankets on the right, lawn chairs on the left.

Nice place to go and relax.

Miller Outdoor is so much fun! Throughout their active season, this place boasts phenomenal FREE performances, and has covered seats for purchase in advance. I've seen so many fantastic shows here, including family-friendly entertainment, dance performances, films, and theatre. I recommend signing up for their email newsletter, so that you don't miss a thing!
Michael Gotsch
What an amazing venue. Great band (covering Queen) played that night, the entire show was very enjoyable. You can bring drinks (no glass) and whatever munchables you desire. A Houston gem!
Marnie Copeland
We love almost every event that Miller puts on. We go just about every Fri and Sat night...we have sit in the seat and we picnic on the lawn. Most every show is a high quality and thoroughly enjoyable!
Michelle Foy
Fantastic time with the family! Wonderful atmosphere and great entertainment! Suggestion: It would be great if they would incorporate large screen monitors for those who cannot see on stage due to large attendance.
Chris Coronado
On this night, watching America play their classic hits. A Houston gem.

Always Great Entertainment for All!!!
Eric Flournoy
Beautiful place for family entertainment in the heart of the city. It's located in Houston's Herrmann Park/ Museum district near the Medical center and Rice UNIVERSITY area. Usually the events are free which can at times end up being overcrowded and lead to difficulty finding parking. Case in point with yesterday's Motown tribute event. But the children and I were content with playing in the park and listening to the music from a distance. Places like this remind me of why I love my town.
Glover Gifts
Free outdoor entertainment! I'm so glad you're back! I have seen Shakespeare productions, Symphony performances, Ballets and Concerts. I love Miller Outdoor (hippie hill)!!!
Chrissy
Great place for the whole family! The shows are fun and the kids always have a fun time. Parking can be tricky but it's free. Bring chairs or a blanket if you plan to sit on the hill.
Charles Hanna
Every city needs a place like this. We've seen concerts, ballet, opera and festivals here and all of it was free. There is a way to donate, and if you are able I think you should give whatever you think it's worth. If you can't, that's 100% okay too. Just sit on the lawn and enjoy the show. There is plenty of free parking by the zoo (yes, free parking!) and the Metro train stops close by too.
Cindy Clayton
Attended the Houston Shakespeare Festival with my family last week--"As You Like It," which was on offer with HSF the first time I attended 30 years ago. Always a great time! Picnicking on the hill (and some hill-rolling by my daughter) made for some great memories.
Peaches Blount
Great show! My husband just had hip replacement surgery, and was in a wheelchair, and we were told there were no handicap seating available? So I pushed him around back of the hill, and pushed him to a place where he could see, then there was an intermission, and alot of people were leaving, so we were leaving, too, then they announced that it was just an intermission, and so we asked on the other side, and there was one available! So the last hour we sat inside! We had to park so far away! Like a mile away!? But it was fun! I think it was a little too much for my husband , tho? He's very sore today!
Barbara Giordanelli
We were here to see the Houston Symphony. What a great deal to be able to see such an awesome performance for free. We attend several Miller performances each season even though we live 25 miles away. So nice to sit on the hill and have a picnic with wine (but no glass bottles).
Rose Caruso
We came for the showing of "Singing in the Rain" which was amazing. The sound was crystal clear, the picture was easy to see even from the back, and the pitch of the hill was enough to allow everyone to see, without being so steep that you slid down. Definitely will be visiting again!
Alexandra Peacock
My favorite place in Houston. Perfect place to relax, bring kids, have date night, bring the dog, picnic, etc. all while catching a ballet, play, opera, concert, symphony, dance troupe, movie, musical, and much more. Pay for seats but I love the hill and most people prefer it! Best of all its free! Japanese gardens, reflection pond, golf course, playground, zoo, paddle boats, museums all in close walking proximity. Parking can sometimes be a headache but that's the only downside.
Virginia Barriera
I recommend this theater because it offer free concerts, movies for the entire family. Come bring your chair enjoy the stars, the moon, and fresh air while watching a nice concert.a
Jennifer Schmitt
It's free and fairly easy to get seats at the box office before the show normally so that is awesome. Unfortunately the season falls during Houston's least great season so long shows can be a little too much.
Anissa Shantele
Enjoyed an evening of entertainment, history and celebration under the stars for the Juneteenth event. The program included live music and acknowledgements about slave and black history and tradition. I was impressed. It was my first time!
Jessica Morgan
A great place to catch free shows including the Houston Symphony summer nights shows. You can bring your own picnic or buy food and drink at the concession stand. As a bonus it is right near the zoo and the museums and the bathrooms have AC.
G Lee
This is a great place for a night out with family. They have events for children and free shows, plays, live music, etc. The park surrounding the theater is also very nice for taking walks, and duck watching. Its right next to the science museum and houston zoo as well. So its perfect for a family outing and bbq.
Samantha Strahan
I watched an alternative dance performance here and it was really great! Loved sitting on the lawn!!
Paula Ransom
Stage production super.
Artist and orchestra outstanding. Lighting and stage hands fantastic 😊 …
M. Antonia Ugueto
World class free entertainment! I went last night for Exxon Mobil Summer Symphony Nights with a group of friends. We sat on the hill and took a picnic. The music was superb and the evening was wonderful. If you live in Houston you should make the effort to attend a performance.
A. Ivette Cruz
Clean and very organized. I think they should have 2 or 3 more vendors
Michelle A
I've come to Miller Outdoor Theatre for the free Houston Symphony concerts during the summer, as well as a theater show. There are two seating options at Miller Outdoor: regular ticketed seating, and the grass hill seating. I actually prefer to sit on the hill, bring a picnic blanket, drinks and snacks. It's fun to just lounge on the hill during shows, and even better when you can come with a group of friends. The shows are always entertaining with a great selection of free movies, theater shows, and concerts. During the day time, I've seen kids roll down the hill for fun!
Dot Alabi
Saw the Quintet play here - wonderful
Roshanda Johnson
Great, free fun! Sign up for the newsletter and go to the shows!
Christen Foster-Thomas
The cast and crew were phenomenal when we went to an outdoor play for the Shakespeare festival. If you're going to an event here, know that they distribute tickets the day of until 1pm at the ticket office near the restrooms. If you dont have a ticket by that time, you will have to stand in a line until they release them an hour before the show. Depending on the night, everyone can get into a seat. Many people bring their own lawn chairs or blankets and sit on the grassy knoll just behind the cement and seats. Speakers projecting for the sides of the theatre make it easy to hear from anywhere in the general area. There are two or three large fans - and I mean large - that begin running as soon as people take their seats. It provides a gentle breeze on those still evenings.
Nancy Dietrich
I went to watch a concert and had forgotten my tickets so I sat in the open seating (the grass field in front of the stage) and while it was definitely less comfortable it was still fun. Depending on when you go I would pack sun screen, bug spray and either a blanket or chairs to sit on.
Ashley Lai
One of the best outdoor theatres I have been to, Miller Outdoor Theatre has a variety of shows almost every weekend during the spring and summer. Whether you want to class it up with some opera or get down with the Motown Miller Outdoor Theatre is the perfect place to picnic with your favorite takeout and wine/beer. The hill is surprisingly comfortable without being too far away form the stage!
Paige M
Always love miller outdoor theater. Great show offerings. Beautiful building. Crowded on a Saturday night but you can hear the music from far away
Zachary Zmyslinski
Miller Outdoor Theater offers something for everyone. Truly one of the highlights in the city of Houston. From plays and concerts to replays of recent and iconic movies. All shows are free (refer to their website about obtaining tickets), either grab a seat by the stage or set up on the lawn. The concessions are reasonably priced and good quality compared to most other venues. Or you can always bring your own food and drink (no glass).
Anna moreno
I am a 4th generation Houstonian, and visit Miller often. It is a rite of passage for school aged children to visit the park and roll down the hill, and to see a show here. As you grow, you come to really appreciate the theatre and area. The last show I attended was phenomenal, Thai drummers in their American debut. The acoustics of the theatre are breath taking. It is never stuffy, even on the hottest days. Tickets are always free, but you've got to want them. You stand in line, sometimes for hours, and don't get to choose your seats. But it is always worth it. If you can't get tickets, no problem! A few minutes before showtime they allow empty seats to be filled. If that isn't your style, bring a blanket or chairs and watch the show picnic style! The theater is BYOB, but not the hill. Amazing place, and one every true Houstonian should experience at least once.
bish s
Excellent value for your money - all shows are free! And not just any shows but many internationally famous dance, music and theatre troups. All weekends during Spring and Summer are full of entertainment. The outdoor open air seating imparts an informal picnic like air which is great for taking kids too. The small cafeteria and the rest rooms are a shame though and not up to the same standard as the theatre.
Jennifer Bush
Beautiful area. Museum district and gardens in the same vicinity. Cute train for kids wrapping around the bottom of the hill. I only started to like Houston when I came to the Miller Theatre for the free Houston Symphony nights. Grab a picnic blanket, wine and cheese, and hang out with cute dogs, kids, and other music lovers.
ashlynn kelly
The Hispanic lady who cleans the bathroom, Nora, I believe her name was. She is so kind, and the bathrooms were very clean when I went in with my kids. Y’all have some amazing staff, will definitely be returning!!!
Ilana Bierman
It is one of our favorite activities during summer nights with our kids. We love the laid back atmosphere and have been to pretty good shows. Keep up the great work!❤
