Reviews of Jones Hall for the Performing Arts
Samuel Hooper
A surprisingly pleasant concert hall with a decent acoustic. They have the ability to lower the hexagonal acoustic buffers, closing off the upper balcony level, for lower capacity and more intimate chamber music or recitals. The auditorium itself is stylish and has retained its 1960s character through recent renovations. Good and catering options are limited at present due to COVID-19, but are the usual overpriced concert fare. One annoying quirk is that they check tickets at the outer doors to the building rather than the doors to the auditorium, so be prepared to stand in a line outside in whatever weather Houston happens to be serving up on the day.
Mr Beasley
The seats all have the same numbers on them in different sections and the section numbers are at the back of the theater. We and many other people were in the wrong seats as a result. The seating people could have helped, but they didn't understand it either. Every other theater in the USA and Europe I've been to has had this figured out.
The acoustics were good. The conductor of the John Williams selections however, actually said, "we're going to play all the lesser known pieces." Ugh. People come for the popular music. Not what the conductor likes. The titles was, "The BEST of" not, "lesser known of..." we just came for the music, but there were people in Star Wars and Harry Potter outfits there. One cute part was when the conductor used a little girl's wand to conduct. He should have let her do it, the orchestra didn't need him. They were excellent. The choir backing up the orchestra was amazing. Also, I'm disabled and it was a long walk up. The ticket takers said there was no elevator, but there was.

This place is amazing. Nestled amongst the sky scraper buildings of downtown Houston. Seats were comphy enough. The view was good. Even from the balcony. Would have liked sound system in balcony as to better hear what’s on stage. But it was still good !!! Saw the blue man group. Fantastic show.

First time here for a symphony. We bought tickets for the 10am morning symphony which was great!! I didn't realize so many people brought their kids to experience the symphony. One crying baby still didn't ruin my experience. I would definitely like to experience it at night. Clean restrooms however I didn't venture upstairs as the concert we attended was downstairs. Will definitely be back!!

Beautiful building, great staff, no real handicap parking close by. And the handicap bathroom is down a lot of stairs. There didn't seem to be ramps to get to the different levels. We had a difficult time getting to our seats. The seats were comfortable with plenty of arm room.
Natalie Walder
A wonderful experience for my first time watching a spectacular symphony orchestra. Parking wasn't a hassle as there were parking lots within a short walking distance. The food was delicious and to top it off they served the renowned Katz coffee. The auditorium is cozy and nearly every seat has a great view of the stage area. The seats aren't as comfortable but they do recline somewhat. After 30 mins my body started to feel stiff but that could also be due to aging 😅 I will definitely come back again soon.
Rob & Anna Blake
Absolutely stellar experience. We watched Cirque de la symphonie, featuring a quick change artist, a clown, two aerialists, and a strongman act. The orchestra and the performances were amazing! The preorder process for food was quick and easy, and we conveniently got food ready to go for intermission (not to mention the fabulous brownie). The facility is amazing, and we thank our friend Stephanie who gifted us with tickets!
Sherrie Benson
Here for Andres Orosco Estrada's farewell concert! The music and chorus singing was so beautiful to listen to! They performed Gustav Mahler's Resurrection and it was divine!
Ms. Stephanie Ellis
Out on the town to see Black Violin Artist. All I can really say, is catch their tour. The show was phenomenal. Everyone Vibing to the sound of art. WOW. I'm going to Austin just to catch the show again.
TM Graphics
We loved it! The one thing I would advise it to stay out of seats section B in the balcony G7 G6 G5 because they are blocked by a railing making it difficult to see. But it's a beautiful theater and the show was great!
Donna Eidlebach
STOMP was awesome!! Parking was great, seats were awesome, (3rd row) performance was spectacular!! Really loved the convenience of the parking to the venue, being not able to walk far. Really enjoyed this venue. 💖💕 …
Marlon McMillan
Great place. Very clean, organized and exit layouts are fantastic. This is my 3rd visit and I love the plays so far and especially the staff are super friendly and helpful.
Karen Le Sueur
Such a wonderful experience! Beautiful setting, Excellent orchestra. Fabulous choir. And listening to Handel's MESSIAH, what a glorious way to celebrate the Birth of our Lord!
Emma Fisher
Although I was way up in the gods, the sound quality was excellent, and views were surprisingly good considering. The amenities were excellent.
Mrs. T Stan
Incredible experience, I'll definitely be back!
I attended "She's Got Soul" tonight at Jones Hall. On-site staff was so helpful, patient & professional. Parking was very convenient & easy. Self-Parking in the parking garage was only $12! The parking garage is across the street from Jones Hall & underground.
Highly recommend, you won't be disappointed!
Phyllis Wilson
Dance performance was great but the directions to seating are non-existent. Not enough elevators and way too many stairs
Eddie Rivera
The recent renovations have gone a long way in improving the acoustics at Jones Hall. I've been going to the Houston Symphony for years and, to no fault of the organization, Jones Hall has had notable issues with some performances sounding "off" depending on your seat, even to a nonexpert like me. This opening week of Verdi showcased the instrumental and vocal performances well and I'm excited for what comes next.
Meghan Descontez
Went to see fantasia with my dad last Sunday. I've been to the Harry Potter symphony before and loved it. The orchestra playing the music live is amazing, while you watch such an iconic movie.
Fantasia was done a little different. The conductor actually talked to us about the different pieces of music and gave us background on the movie. Then played pieces of fantasia. I really enjoyed this because it gave me some background knowledge of the movie. The symphony again was lovely. Houston is blessed with a wonderful orchestra. There is nothing like live music. And if you have ever wanted to go, it makes a great gift or shared experience with a loved one. Put down the materialistic gifts this holiday and give the gift of an experience, live music shared together.
Kristine Bradley
I love going to the symphony! Last nights performance of Elton John and Billy Joel was super fun and amazing! I enjoy when the audience is able to sing and participate! Great for date night or night out with the girls!
I am a big patron and will come back!
HELEN WILT
Our Houston Symphony is so talented. Every performance we've been to has been beautiful. The ticket prices are very reasonable. The only complaint we have is the narrow stairway to the garage and elevator situation. My husband has mobility issues and we couldn't get on the elevator. I thought the construction that was done this summer was going to address those issues. We will still be regular patrons though.
Jacob Milam
This is a great location. I can honestly say I don't think there is a bad seat in here. They are comfortable, and one of the few places I would say is roomy enough for me, even at well over 6 ft tall. Prices can be a bit high for any of the concessions but no worse than anything like this. It was very clean and the staff was great. It's definitely a gem here in Houston.
Oliver Zauner
Stomp is still one of the best shows to me and Jones Hall is a great Theater!
Without intermission, people will start going in and out and it was much more annoying than I thought it'd be.
People moving around, doors opening, flooding the area with sunlight in a rather darkened ambience. Still, it was a great show!
Valorie Hunter
I had an AMAZING TIME!!! While patiently waiting to purchase tickets for Songs of the Earth Festival a very kind gentleman offered me his ticket!!! I was so grateful to the Lord for giving me favor. I pray that God blesses that kind man. The performance was beautifully orchestrated!!! Truly a night to remember!
Gloria Jackson
We had a wonderful time at the Disney Fantasia show. The coffee was excellent!
Phil R
The Very Merry Pops performance was nicely done. Enjoyed the mixture of symphony, symphony chorus, and soloist N'Kenge.
Connie Downs
Parking was challenging. Theater was lovely. Seats were comfortable. All men's bathrooms were out of order & their only option was port-a-potties on the street. Very unprofessional! 😡 It would have been better to have half the women's & half the men's functioning. …
Patricia Edwards
Went for a field trip with 4th graders, most of then enjoyed the Symphony.
Isaac villavicencio
Best seats are row H-k for symphony concerts. You need to arrive 10min earlier. Please don’t use your phone or read your program during the performance.
kat
I have loved this building for years! The architecture, the style, the location, the interior, everything. My husband and I go every couple years to hear the Houston Symphony. Our last attendance was for Once and it was fantastic!
Lance James
Such a lovely time for the kids and the Symphony did a great job in making the experience interactive!!!
My only recommendation would be to get a better handle on the lines for hot cocoa and Santa pics. That was a total cluster F!
Alex Yang
Came here for an orchestra concert. The stage lights were very harsh. The stage was much smaller than I expected. However acoustics are great. I had first row balcony and could hear a great sound.
Emily McDonald
Very clean. Staff was helpful to get us to direct us to our seats. Downside was the bathroom by the level I was on had only 4 stalls. The line was so long and had to rush back to my seat and the show had already started again after intermission. They also ran out of bottle water.
Andre Gobin
Great lecture and discussion by Neil deGrasse Tyson. Good venue as well, but mostly it's about Tyson.
Abraham M
Went to see an Indonesian Gamelan show but was subjected to a string quartet for 30 minutes.
Gamelan troop was great. Lot of work went into it to create the show and they let the audience come up and play with the instruments. A great treat. Thank you
The manager of Jones Hall needs to teach the staff to get off the gripe water and learn customer service. Grumpy ushers bring the mood down. If you are not seating first 8 rows. Put signs up. Not Grumpy yelling. Why reserve seats when it is open seating? Really?
I can see an average string quartet play anytime.
I say string players play to oppress themselves but all the musicians play to entertain. Very disappointing and to have family members get up to give an ovation was a disgusting act.
Ronnie & Amy from Houston, Texas
Very comfortable seats with your own arm rest. The sound quality is very good even upstairs.
Frank Benvenuto
The family and I came to Jones Hall for the Shen Yun performance. This was our first visit to Jones Hall. The venue was very nice and well organized. It was pretty easy to get help to find our seats. The sound and lighting was appropriate for the performance. During the intermission, food and drinks were available for purchase, and restrooms easy to find. Overall, coming to Jones Hall was a pleasant experience. We will look for more performances to enjoy in the future.
K Michelle
I had a great seat with a spectacular view in Orchestra Right Row C seat 117.
Karina De-Leuw
I went with some dear friends to watch Stomp. We were in the nosebleed section, but you could still clearly see ther performance. It's a beautiful theatre, just not very user friendly for those with any ailments due to the amount of stairs and distance of restrooms.
Jeannie Wood
The Cole Porter show was so enjoyable. The performers are so talented and of course the symphony was a great accompaniment. We were running a bit late but the staff ushered us to our seats just in time for the first note.
Joshua Wingate
Men’s rooms are a disaster for normal and physically impaired persons.
Steve McClendon
I think I'm being overly generous by giving them three out of five stars, but be that as it may...Who designed this place and the signs? Maybe I'm just getting old but it seemed like I wandered around a bit too much trying to find the entrance to my seat and the exit to go downstairs. They need additional exit signs. Only one elevator that I was aware of. They should have installed double doors at each entry to keep light out when people exit or enter. Forget about finding your seat in the dark as there is no illumination at the seat level.
Fernanda Mesquita
I went for STOMP! Was a great presentation. The drinks/food area is great. Only problem is parking but similar to any place in downtown
Gregory Wickliffe
Great Concert! Kudos to Texas Southern University!
Kiran Movva
I've always enjoyed Jones Hall and Houston Symphony prior to pandemic. Went for first time since pandemic last Saturday (Feb 13th). Outstanding social distancing practices in place. Vast majority off seats were blocked, allowing you probably the best viewing experience you can have. Ming Luke was the guest conductor for music illustrated presentation with Tobias using Google live brush to visualize the music. Ming is a very expressive conductor - wonderful to watch him direct. While the music was fantastic, the virtual reality movement on the side by Tobias became distracting and we tuned it out after a couple of pieces. One way to improve the experience may be to project the vr creation through holography. The monitors in the hall are way too small and very poor resolution to communicate the detail. It was very apparent the musicians loved performing for even the small audience (due to blocked seats - the show itself was sold out).
Jesse Cushman
Gorgeous theatre and the acoustics were amazing. We saw Ray Lamontagne - he was good, but the songs started to get repetitive. That said, like I said the acoustics were amazing and the venue was very cool. Side note, if you need to go to the bathroom on the first floor, it's pretty much a maze to find them.
Robbie Jansky
Awesome venue for all things performance. The acoustics and sound are amazing inside the hall the seating is very comfortable and relaxed with plenty of space. Lots of lounge area with a nice bar and Neil sitting alone cocktail tables plenty of restroom space and just overall awesome place. Great amenities. Very enjoyable experience listening to the symphony. #yourTEXASrealtor
Julianne Tran
Went to a symphony here for Tribute to John Williams. It’s my 2nd time here in a very long time. Love the conductor, shared so many stories about the legend and the performance was exceptional. Didn’t know I would like it that much.
Palmer Mena
Fantastic and iconic Houston Opera House. Always impressed by amazing acoustics in this building! A must visit for tourists in Houston
Mike Wolny
The Lecture was awesome, the performance hall was really warm inside.
Patricia Martin
The Bubble Show was awesome!! Loved it...
Trish D.
The Houston Symphony never disappoints! What a mesmerizing performance...thank you!
Don W.
Amazing atmosphere...amazing venue...amazing staff...magical evening. Easy to find. Many parking structures. Comfortable seating. Great views. If you love the arts and Jones Hall is the venue, you won't be disappointed.
Yolanda F
The theatre open house was so much fun and free. The entertainment was amazing. It happens once a year.
Saw Harlem Dance Theatre at Jones Hall. Awesome show. No bad seat in Jones Hall
Michael Loomis III
Awesome sounding venue and really convenient if you live near the core of the city. I have only seen a handful of shows here over the past 35 years but if you get a chance to see a band here...do it. Staff wasn't very helpful but oh well.
Vicky Nielsen
Wonderful symphony POPS performance. However, the facility is dated & difficult to navigate, especially restroom locations & accessibility, however remodeling plans are in motion.
evil witch
I enjoyed the concert a lot, but I must say that the "experience" of the night was to go through the entire theater to get to the nearest restroom. It was hell, and if I have to change venue for enjoying another performance that would be my one reason to do it. I don't want to think getting out of the bathroom area during an emergency. It was awful!
Lauren Sklar
We always enjoy performances at Jones Hall. We particularly loved and brought our kids to Fantasia. They both had a blast! What a neat opportunity and we are so lucky to have the Houston Symphony around.
Jason Hodge
I had my first experience at Jones hall last night, watching and listening to the Houston symphony. The performance hall is stunning. The lighting and the sound were amazing. The seats were super comfortable and even had a way to incline them just enough. I look forward to attending another event at this venue in the future.
Christopher Goff
We went for the Itzhak Perlman concert. Was very pleased with the sound. However the theater itself was BLAZING hot! Maybe the AC was acting up, but make sure not to be too layered if you're going in. Sound is incredible though. We were the back row, lower level and didn't miss a note. I hear the balcony is even better. I look forward to trying it some day!
Laurie Humble
Jones hall was great, show was okay. Saw Blue Man, it was fun but I think the older version of their show was much better. Less actual percussion now, more audience participation fluff...
Louis Riccucci
The hall was very clean. There was plenty of ushers to help you. We had a very good time with my grandson watching Stomp
Diana Maria
Houston symphony was so enjoyable and beautiful!!!! Jones hall management they need to hire more workers at the bar. The two long lines just didn’t cut it. Half of us didn’t get to purchase drinks because it was already time to go back. Waited approximately 15 minutes in line.
Diana Jean rdz
Venue is nice but...bathroom situation was crazy. We had to go downstairs, then upstairs to get to a bathroom. What the HECK??!
Jason Moreno
Jones Hall is a remarkable. The home to one of the best Symphony's in the world. Acoustic in the building is beautiful.
Kerstin Bernd-Striebeck
Jones Hall itself is a historic building where the Houston symphony plays. 4 stars bc I do not want to fault the venue on the show.
We saw Shen Yun. The performance was amazing. The message they are giving is a long commercial for a religious group. After looking more into the organization, I would not have spent my money. It is very cult like.
Anyone who wants to see the show, I would suggest doing some research on where your money goes. It is kinda scary
The attached picture is from the program.
Kelli “JaguarPaw” Connolly
The Shen Yun performance was amazing and the staff was very polite
Sarah Elliott
What a great experience! There are so many stairs!
Curtis Lucas
This visit was the first time that I have ever been to a symphony. It was an incredible experience, even though the 90's kiddy rock group, Hanson was performing. 25 years after their heyday... They showed their abilities with such a talented orchestra in the background. I am eager to return to see/hear what else is in store for me.
Elissa Saravia
Lovely location, great staff, but the parking situation is harsh. Be mindful that they do not have their own parking spaces, and will have to walk from another parking garage or space to the hall. Plan accordingly and come early.
WHITNEY NAVARRO
Just saw the Shen Yun show, and it was absolutely stunning. I also love Jones Hall. The staff are always amazing and kind. Overall, it was a great experience.
Timothy Winnes
To cold in lobby , should have let everyone up staircase on the right and closed off the left near the seats so when the doors are open all the cold air doesn't rush into the stage area. Also people who arrive 30 minutes late should he held aside and not permitted to find thier seats in a middle of the performance. They can find thier seats at intermission.
Abdul Mohamin
I loved this place. The reception is amazing and people are so helpful. Above everything, their shows are beyond expressions. I loved it. I'll be visiting this place more often now.
Chad Abney
Beautiful hall. Great acoustics.
Brian Martin
The absolute best place to watch a symphony!!!! All seats are comfy, acoustics are amazing, and the Houston Symphony.... marvelous!!!
Eunice Ramirez
Great service, nice event. We was able to get something to drink during the break. Everyone that works there is always asking if we need anything.
Amit Patel
If you have children under the age of 6 years old DO NOT GO. they are not welcomed. We were almost turned away. At $90 a ticket I think not.
Terry Thomas
Absolutely awesome. Had 2nd row seats for Black Panther and it was one of the best things I've seen/heard. Love it here!
anwar almond
The architecture and design of the facility is beautiful. All the employees are helpful.
Harold LaRue
Gorgeous venue; home to the Houston Symphony and Society for the Performing Arts.
Recent renovations have greatly improved acoustics and accessibility.
Underground Theater District parking garage has tunnel access and often offers $12 event rates.
Carl Eckhardt
Still an acoustical engineering marvel. No standing nodes or antinodes. The sound propagates to any seat in the house. You could probably hear a pin drop from the stage.
I was 9 years old the year it opened back in 1966.
I didn't attend a performance until 5 years later, and have only been there a half a dozen times up until 2022. But have never forgotten her beauty and function. It is the Carnegie Hall of the south.
Please take time to attend a performance if you the chance. It is a jewel of the bayou city.
One word of advice for only a few where this advice applies.
Old patrons should not be so easily disturbed when someone accidentally drops a personal object on the floor. It might be that person wasn't even aware that the smallest sound can amplify and travel quite a distance.
If you are one of those prudes of whom I speak, then a little self reflection on how you arrived at such a place without your knowledge is now past due. God speed on your timely decision to fix it, and get on with your life.
I have been lucky enough to have not brought attention to myself on my visits,
but I am human.
Maria Bard
I love this place. Acoustics are awesome. Any seat is a good seat. Everything is spotless and food is not too expensive. I did not buy drinks so I can't comment on those.
Andrew “Drew” Seybt
A venerable and amazing performing arts center, I've visited since I was but a wee lad, and the august majesty it had all those years ago remains strong. They have great employees that work there who are very helpful. Some of the best performances around happen here.
Tony TOPS
Really lived the experience of Shen Yun! Took my two young adults with me and we had a great time. Well worth the experience!
Polican 93
I have been coming here for Niel Degrasse's lectures for years now. Love the venu, and the staff is always super kind to help.
The Maldonado’s
The family had a great time. We just enjoy music and there is no better place than the Jones Hall. They had vendors for food lovers, wine lovers etc. Parking is an issue, so come in advance and find a good parking. Make sure you read and understand all parking signs. If you don’t, is just better to park in a private parking or use the valet parking. In this case, I think it is worth it.
Joe Caruana
The Venue has good acoustics and comfortable seating. Sundays have free street parking and it is within easy walking distance. The public transit will also drop you close. Good pre-performance talks.
Katherine Kessler
Saw the Brian Setzer Orchestra-it was amazing! The usher helped us get better seating and was very patient as I tried to find our tickets on my phone. Great venue! Would definitely recommend and will go again
Antwain Deshaun Scourton
It was a fun experience for my first time exploring Houston
B D
Christmas program was outstanding. The hall is laid out well and it is easy to get in and out. Acoustics were good as well.
Jj Osorio
Always a pleasure to come here for concerts! Amazing place to be! Thank you for great concert Houston symphony! 👏🏼 …
Cynthia A. Azzam
All I can say is that things have changed... The hall itself is beautiful, the performances have changed; their modernization have made them not worth it for me to pay the high price and the i inconvenience.
Michael R McCarty
Today was a special day to take my son to someplace I have seen so many shows. We both enjoyed the Circus 1903 performance.
Irene Gonzalez
We went to a kids friendly event with the Houston Symphony performing and we had a blast!
Vera C
I enjoyed some performance few many times. It was a great time!
Marissa Cabrales
It was my first time visiting. Had wanted to visit here for so long. Saw the Final Fantasy performance. Had a great time. It was wonderful and the sound was incredible.
John M
I love coming here for concerts. Good sightlines throughout the auditorium. The acoustics are fabulous. Of course, the Houston Symphony is just terrific. They always play great music. The conductors are lively and engaging. It is always a great show with wonderful music. We will back again and again and again.
Leena Anneli Peltoniemi
Jones Hall rocked with the virtuoso
Itzhak Perlman playing Beethoven!
He played his 1714 Stradivarius violin, which has a sound of angels wings!
Jones Hall is still fantastic, clean and organized. Only one disappointment; the prices of drinks, coffee and food went up again.
Justin Doak
Stunning space. Stunning performances. Easily accessible by the red line! As a new resident to Houston, we are very excited about the programming and it's convenience to our neighborhood, Near Northside.
Joseph Royer
Very old, very cool. I’ve seen two performances this year and they’ve both been spectacular! The dress is generally button up and jeans minimum, but you’ll see some wear “suit and tie” dress. You will enjoy the atmosphere as much as the performance! Very much worth a visit!
Jennise Beverly-Chaffold
Went to the Harlem Urban Dance Show. Great show, easy to find seat. Show was on time, and Wonderful.
Paul Baker
Comfortable seats. Conductor Andres is always hilarious. Can often hear the older folks snickering about "the good old days" before they added big projector screens inside the hall but they update the experience and don't detract from what the orchestra is trying to do.
Jonathan Winkler
Excellent performance by the Houston Symphony. The conductor, Brett Mitchell, was remarkable in his leadership.
Mark Florenz
Great experience..saw Black Violins there..perfect sound and stage line of sight.
Amber Mayeux
The theater itself is ok but you better hope you don't have to use the restroom, it's literally in the basement! 😂 …
Jason Michael Rosado
Shen Yun. The Houston Symphony. 🍾 I have yet to be disappointed, and I am a frequent visitor. Great work Team awesome 👌 …
C Fam
The performances are Amazing! Frequented for years...Love it but,
Extremely large and always crowded Elevator is the same (one or 2), bathrooms far and unfortunately the underground parking we've used for years is now a construction site w parking underneath. Not exactly convenient for the disabled due to the crowds, limited elevator access and layout...Best advice: get there at least an hour or more early.
However, Performances are Fantastic and worth it!
Joe Cooke
Beautiful, spacious hall. Waiting on the mezzanine doors to open. Concert starts in 30 minutes. Wish you were here.
Ahmad Shaheed
Saw STOMP here and the Pit seats were worth it. Great venue, pleasant staff.
MH Durham
Excellent acoustics. Comfortable seats. However, very small few restrooms.
Christopher Gallardo
My wife and I had an incredible time and saw the Houston Philharmonic symphony orchestra live do their rendition to the sweeping film score of Jurassic Park with the film playing behind them. It was phenomenal. A lovely center and gorgeous views with modest pricing on tickets. A must see place and one of a kind experiences.
Mrs. G.
An amazing place recommend to everyone. You will definitely enjoy the Symphony night with your significant or friends.
André B.
Great experience. Wonderful performances and comfortable environment. And parking wasn’t an issue.
AD Rigmaiden
We really enjoyed the show but the rest room situation is rough. Hope they fix it soon
Oscar Escobar
The Houston Symphony is a treasure. The atmosphere is amazing and we enjoy ourselves every visit
Jane Hoyt
We enjoyed the Fantasia Event with the HOUSTON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA at JONES HALL, Very Much ❣️❣️❣️ The program was Wonderful ❣️❣️ We pre-ordered refreshments for intermission and that worked out great! We had a cheese and crackers board before the concert and it was lovely as well.
The only problem that I had was the huge staircases. I have RA. This was our 1st visit to Jones Hall. We parked in the garage and entered the underground entrance . Our seats were in the Mezzanine. Thankfully there is a lift from the Orchestra Level up to the Mezzanine, but I didn't see one between the basement and the Orchestra Level, nor did I see more than one SMALL Elevator at that!
We managed to have a great time in spite of the difficulty with the steps.
Bruce Sealy
It's nice that the seats in the balconies swivel to allow people to pass.
Sydney B
The ushers and elevator attendants were outstanding and went above and beyond to help patrons. This was my third Shen Yun attendance, and I always needed help getting to my seat without using stairs.
The staff warmly greeted me, and once I explained my difficulty with stairs, they coordinated to reseat me in a more accessible area. The older usher who sat me checked on me and others in similar situations; when the performance ended, she escorted me to the stage exit to ensure that I didn't encounter any stairs.
The elevator attendants were the sweetest older ladies who made me feel quite welcome. The ushers were elegantly efficient, ensuring minimal disturbance to the performance. At no point did I ever feel rushed or bothersome. Their level of service made a great night that much better!
Marcello Villalon
The orchestra sounds amazing and they always make such entertaining performances.
Cameron Truxal
Wow the AV experience here is top notch and I hear it’s only going to get better!
David Sherwood
Jones Hall is vast. You really want to sit on the main floor if you want to see. We were in the mezzanine tonight and it was quite far to the stage. On the other hand, the acoustics were excellent. We had no problem hearing the readings and conversation on stage. I attach a photo from our seats. There are two chairs on the stage.
Elizabeth
Saw Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix concert. It was a magical experience. The conductor encouraged everyone to clap and shout out during the concert. A lot of people came dressed in wizard robes and brought wands with them. There was also a pop up store where you could buy HP merch.
Kate
Some of the best speakers and performances I've seen have all been here! Always a memorable moment.
Keysha Berry
Went to see STOMP performance. Had a fantastic time, great seats
This is Me. Bridgett!
Had a wonderful time experiencing Black Panther with a live symphony! It gave the movie a richer experience! Seats were comfortable, temperature was great, (it was not freezing in there), and the aisles were nice and spacious. Atmosphere was nice too! I had a great time! 😊👍🏼 …
Stephanie Annor
Spent a Thursday evening here watching and listening to Black violin. The ushers are very helpful in getting you to your seats. Make sure to bring a light jacket because it gets cool. Hopefully the construction will improve in the next couple of months otherwise allow time for parking.
Ericka Kane
Most LIT PERFORMANCE the Symphony has ever hosted!!!!! Would love to see more rap artist!!!! Let's do Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, or Beyonce... I'm there for it!!!!!! FRONT ROW
C.J. H.
I've seen at least three events at Jones Hall, two of which were in 2022. It is well kept up, the staff is pleasant and professional, the bathrooms are clean, the coffee bar is great, and the shows are stunning. I would highly recommend attending an event at the hall.
Rohan Reddy
Great hall. Very beautiful, elegant and clean place with great atmosphere. Recently attended Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty in this hall. It was great experience over all. After quick ticket scan the friendly staff directed us to our seats. The bathrooms were great. And the sound of all the instruments especially the violin sounded great in the hall. All in all recommend this venue.

Houston's PREMIER performing theater for over 40 years! ❤️

I’m so grateful for our Houston Symphony. It always makes me happy and brings back the best emotions. I love it for not only playing popular masterpieces but also weaving less known pieces and developing and educating the audience! Can’t wait to go back!
Alex Wright
Great place to enjoy the arts. Just saw Houston symphony play Beethoven's 5th and it was awesome. Whether you live in Houston or you are driving though, this is a must experience to honor these great musicians and keep the art alive.
Slim Satire
So this was a really cool place. First time I had ever been here...the bad...it's downtown, so parking logically sucks. But I parked about two blocks away for only $5 as I couldn't find anything else. The theater is quite nice and tons of staff help guide you. No drinks in the theater did suck, but I get the logic behind it. Drinks in the waiting area weren't too frazy expensive at least... I'll be back!
Noel
My only complaint is the seat sizes. If you're over 5'10, get the Box or Grand Tier seats. The mezzanine seats have no leg room.
Omar Rivera
Went to see Selena Symphony and was it was very nIce. You can hear all instruments playing. I went in there thinking it was loud like movie theater speakers everywhere but it was relaxing. Til of course Selena's number one hits were sung and it became a dancing house party. It was great.
DQ TX
We saw the matinee symphony performances of Star Wars. It was wonderful. Comfortable seating, good sound.
Odell from da SSIPP
Nice hall for any performance.
Love how it still looks well kept after all these years. Comfy seats that recline a lil.
Michael Clayville
Jones Hall is a great space and the Houston Symphony is spectacular. Got "nose bleed" seats for the symphony performing John Williams's music to Star Wars with the movie and, even from the balcony, the sound was great though the screen was tiny. There are some seats in the balcony with obstructed views so be mindful of that. There are bars on the ground floor and balcony level with a pretty good selection of drinks.
Alex Barrientos
The Houston Symphony was excellent. Wish the sound engineer could have turned up the volume though.
BUMSPAM
Very cool Cirque show. Definitely recommend catching a show.
Steve
We went to see the matinee performance of Wands and Wizards by the Houston Symphony. It was geared toward children. The music was only outdone by the conductor's ability to engage the children and hold their attention for the 1 hour performance. It was a wonderful time for all of us.
Sabrina Moore
The show was absolutely enjoyable! From the main soloist, to the trio vocalists, guest soloist and choir, to the orchestra. The show included songs from not only Aretha, but other artists as well- Otis Redding, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, etc. Such a delight!
Dee Baker
Great Theater for shows... Saw the Blue man group and it rocked!
M Cruz
Always a great time every time we attend an event here. Never a bad seat in the house. Great sound, great views in a beautiful building.
Image taken from the mezzanine.
Courtney Barrett
Fabulous show! Love Jones Hall. Seats are very spacious with lots of foot room.
Shayla
This was our first time attending a performance at Jones Hall. It was really nice to experience the warmness of the staff and the exhibition of local dancers before we got to the featured show! The elevator attendant was very helpful and courteous in addition to the ushers and door staff.
JJ Canon
We had a great time at the Wynona Judd Christmas show. We always enjoy going to The Jones Hall of Performing Arts. Great Venue.
Tammi Tuthill
Wonderful all the time every time!!
Penguin Scott
For a building a year older than I am, it's a great place for culture and live performances. The restrooms are a bit inconvenient, but I've always loved coming here.
Derek P.
There is no valid criticisms that can be levied for this venue, or the staff. Anything brought to this stage is at the very least, top tier talent. Due to the subjective nature of personal aesthetic solicitude, one may not enjoy the programming. Luckily, I've enjoyed everything, for the past several decades. Thank you, thank you, thank you for continuing to uphold the highest standards!
Krystol Allen
Not really wheelchair friendly, but a beautiful place and awesome performances.
Loree Bynum
Beautiful venue!! Cirque Dreams Holidaze was a really fun show!
Kathleen Coleman
Dance Theatre of Harlem never disappoints with up to date monochromatic costumes and dance
Hermenegildo Luis Gasparotto
Watched the Houston Symphony performing Handel's Messiah. Outstanding as always.
James Barber
Wonderful experience. It was our first visit to Jones Hall and we will certainly be back.
Vitto Blass
A wonderful night as always, a place where you can enjoy the music, feel in a positive atmosphere.
Zachary W.
As always, a great venue to watch our wonderful Houston Symphony.
Kemi Sowunmi
Absolutely loved it
I started my summer vacation off seeing Chicago the musical and ended it seeing Inyanza Vanzant. A well enriched experience in the arts!!!
Evanjelyn Tram
Very lovely space and the staff were all kind, considerate and helpful.
Carlos Medina II
Went for my son's field trip. It was a nice venue and the orchestra was relly good
Michael Fitzgerald
First time being there and everything was so Wonderful!!!!! I will be going back soon!!!
Heli Kimhi
Great venue, the acoustic is awesome. They have a really high-quality performers
Carla Dirden
Went as a chaperone with my daughter's school..Carver Magnet. They have nice concerts but and the performers are phenomenal and inspiring and I don't even play violin my daughter does. I also I enjoyed speaking with one of the ushers named Fee.
Karen Douglas
It was Great! We saw the Alvin Alley dancers & the seats were comfy! Nice place very inviting, I would definitely return for a future performance!
Tyson Swan
Went to see STOMP, amazing show and venue.
Christy Ware
We needed a wheelchair for a member of our party. We were super early. A member of the staff assisted us and even trusted us to keep it until the show started so that she did not have to stand up. That was greatly appreciated.
Loree Waddy
Alvin Alley Dance Company performance was awesome! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Jones Hall, the temperature inside the auditorium was extremely warm. I am not happy after paying $80 for a ticket to see an excellent show only to be uncomfortable & no refund or compensation. Shame on the personnel @ Jones Hall! 😕 …
Kristen Lentz
This was my husband & I's first symphony experience & it did not disappoint. We enjoyed watching the Cirque De Symphony!
Jonathan Daniels (J0nrages)
Amazing experience with the Star Wars score playthrough. Chairs were comfortable and talent really showed by the performers. Only wish they had more beverages to use during the show.
Graham Speake
Great event. Parking underground is still bad after Harvey and you have to walk a lot. Restrooms also are a walk. Great sound.
Rachelle White
I've never been disappointed by any performance here. Excellence in art, which is rich in diversity, culture, and variety.
damaris flores
the orchestra is wonderful and the security is really tight and good i really suggest it!
Lauren R
The acoustics are fabulous. I’ve been to several symphonies and the performances are always tops. I am also a season ticket holder, there are several season ticket packages to choose from, options for everyone interested in music.
Wanda Broussard
Attend the She's got Soul at the Houston Symphony Jones Hall, Capathia Jenkins was Awesome!
Trent Cameron
Beautiful theater fort the performing arts. Haven't been let down yet. Only drawback is the lack of parking, but that's pretty much everywhere downtown.
Nisha Smith
Saw Home Alone conducted by the Houston Symphony. Simply amazing!
Walter Anderson
Awesome Disney show. When I found out it was featuring 4 vocalists I thought 'oh noooooo'. But I was pleasantly surprised. All the artists were good, but the guy who sang Ursula's part (yes the guy) stole the show and had personality for days.
...oh yeah...and the orchestra was phenomenal, too!
Michael Panagos
Not a whole lot of Jones in the hall so I felt a bit mislead but the music was nice.
Tim McKeown
A beautiful functional and comfortable auditorium for the arts! We love attending there!
Patti Casias
We went to Jones Hall to see Shen Yun! The show was AWESOME!! The only downfall was that the restrooms are not convenient, down 2 sets of stairs and up one set to get to them.
taylor johnson
Such a fun experience to see Chicago for the first time at the Jones Hall. Such a pretty building in Downtown and not a bad seat in the house!
Gary Sevy
Went to see symphony "Grinch Christmas" special. Excellent performance. Awesome idea to use the high school choir. Really added to the show.
Kevin Johnston
Gorgeous theater with a flawless performance of John Williams' "Return of the Jedi" score conducted by Brett Mitchell and the Houston Orchestra. Thank you so much for an unforgettable experience of such a legendary score performed live alongside the movie!
Samantha Bendo
These musicians worked so hard on their music and I just couldn't miss it, I've gone for three years now never once did I feel that they weren't in tone or that they missed a note, though sometimes something was wrong but that's how music works, nothing is perfect. I am looking into going for the next years too. Thank you for your amazing music.
Jerrod Henderson
Don't get there late. Some shows have no late seating.
Brenda Mellett
What a great place! We went to see Hanson String Theory with the symphony and this was a great concert. The music was wonderful and the sound in this hall was fantastic. The staff were quite nice. Parking was also pretty easy. It was a very fun night. My only complaint was a long trek to and the long lines for the ladies' bathrooms (we observed that there was no line for the men...) Jones Hall is a real gem and we will return.
Savita Saran
Love this auditorium! Sound system is great!
Tina Tisby
Alvin Ailey dance show was outstanding. The staff at Jones Hall was courteous and professional. Very nice outing!! Jones Hall was clean, and had masks available for those without one.
James P. Stancil II
An outstanding venue to watch a performance. The rows are a bit long and timely to scoot in and out of, but otherwise a great place!
Mildred Newsome
Beautiful show. Ist time in years I had been to Jones Hall. Perfect seats but I was surprised no effort to modify social distancing. Very crowded but everyone enjoyed themselves.
Ashley Limas
We had so much fun! The performance was amazing and the hall is beautiful!
chanoctexas
Great place, and the Symphony is superb. Great to be able to enjoy this delight when ever I get a chance.
Debi Brown
The Very Merry Pops is a family favorite. Last night's show was fantastic as usual but the male singer was stupendous! Just amazing to hear someone sing like that.
Cory Pullen
We had a wonderful time watching the Mariachi Herraderros and Mrs Infante!
Alfonso Meneses
Went to the Stomp show, very entertaining.
Meet Shah
Good place. Attended 2cellos concert there. It is an good place for performing arts events.
Rebecca Rodriguez
Ahhhhhh. A venue centrally located with parking for visual and performing arts.
Carlos Mendoza
Very nice theaters. A lot of parking lots near this venue. You can also get there by public transport.
Vanessa Martin
Bravo! The Houston Symphony put on a Fabulous Evening thanks to Andres Orozco,- Estrada he's a musical conductor/director genius he had me dancing in my seat the entire night. It started out with the World Premiere of the first African-American Composer Kyle Rivera -Bridgetower Vibrations to playful piano duet with Emmanuel Ax and Scott Holshouser, Mark Hughes on Trumpet, MuChen Hsieh on violin, ending the evening with Mark Nuccio on clarinet with Black Dog and that last Jazz piece stole the show. What a way to end the evening, yes Show stopper! The one and only Houston Symphony Thank you! Don't miss the show a Symphonic Celebration Fest through March 27th. Buy your tickets now!!!
Colleen McCoy
ALONG WITH MRS.D AND THE DANCING DOLLS,(DD4L) PUT ON A HELL OF A SHOW. IT WILL TAKE A LOT TO TOP THAT.
Christine
While old and lacking in e.g., bathroom stall locks (or enough stalls . . .) This is a lovely old building with excellent acoustics. A bit of a maze, but that's part of the fun.
Diatra James
Thank you for bringing #Common. It was an amazing show!! Hip Hop to the Symphony.
Patrick K
Another stellar performance by the Houston Symphony.
Caspar van der Sar
Great concert performance, really enjoyed the show.
Kimberly Cade-Cunningham
Went to see Home Alone. It was really nice with the Orchestra.
Raouf Naguib
The place was amazing.. simple to find, nice employees and the performance was superb.. parking may be an issue.. go early to figure out where to park and settle in your seat..
Charlene Nichols
Extremely clean and the staff is very helpful and nice. I had an amazing time and look forward to going back
Daniela Herrero
We all love Jones Hall. All the shows we have attended have exceeded our expectations. The place is always neat and there are many ushers helping you find your seats. Sound is great regardless of where you sit. It never disappoints us. Suscribe to get the programs and discounts ahead of time!
Ja'Milla Lomas
Thw Houston Symphony's production of The Black Panther, COMPLETE w TGE voice of T'Chaka and T'Challa (eeeekkkk!!!) was a truly moving and electrifying experience. I can't wait to go back for future performances.
LadyGuinevere Geffre
It's beautiful inside and comfortable seats. Red carpet. My first time to the Symphony and I can not wait to go back. The audio was very clear and surround sound was spectacular. Easy to get to and lots of places to park around there cheaper then $12.
Eldon Blount
This is a nearly perfect performance hall...the Houston Symphony Orchestra always sounds phenomenal here. The acoustics are great; you hear every instrument evenly and clearly, and there really are no bad seats.
My only (minor) complaint is getting to the restrooms is a little involved...they're located basically in the basement. Roomy and clean, just a bit of a trek to get to.
Edgar Guerrero (Leo Ikigai)
Well organized, super clean, classy and a great location. Parking is a problem but so is all of downtowns.
Angel Agustín Torres Ramos
1 best places to listen ,watch a concierto and movie at the same time
Going there to get out of the ordinary
Ruben Blanco
Beautiful Hall, the acoustics sound amazing here and I really love their strict face mask policy specially since I went with my elderly father.
Cole Taz
Visited history, first hip-hop artist to perform there.... Common was nothing short of spectacular.
Stacey
Went to see Pod Save America live at Jones Hall. I haven't been there in years. I was very impressed with the venue and love that it hasn't changed a lot over the many years.
The show was great! I live in a rural area and don't come into the city often. I was able to park nearby and felt safe the entire time. Definitely pay attention and be alert but the city seems to be much safer than in the past.
Ashlie “Ash”
My first time here was to see Boys II Men and what a show they put on with a live symphony! One of the best live performances I’ve ever seen and the atmosphere was very classy. Definitely would love to come back and check our more events.
Chad Gilbert
Excellent acoustics. Wonderful theater
walter lesueur
No bad seats, sound is perfect.
Ryan Yasa
Great performance hall! This was place was my first experience as a kid to the symphony. I have seen several performances here and love how great the staff is here at this venue. I just wish their more visuals and art around the building to make it more lively and inviting. Over all, its a great experience.
Magan Brown
Love all the improvements they're making! Enjoyed every minute of my experience!💖 …
Monique R
Great place with lots of history but seating is horrendous. The huge ledge makes it impossible to see the stage.
Susan Erni
Visiting conductor Rafael Payare was fantastic. Remarkable visiting pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet played the incredibly difficult Liszt piano concerto with ease! Bravo to both.
Oscar A.
Fantastic experience. The level of technique that the musicians possess is a privilege to be able to witness in our great city of Houston.
Cheryl James
A great venue for a play. Very elegant. The seating is good and spacious. Not a bad seat in the house..
Maria Medina
Is a clean facility. The bars placements are great.. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the stairs for the bathrooms (if you are in heels it's a killer workout)
Ty Benton
It's a nice venue. There's at least 4 levels to the building. Underground parking and the tunnels make it easy to access. Only complaint is downtown can get difficult at times due to traffic, one way streets; it's easy to lose where you're going.
Mr French
Always a great location for a quality music experience. 10/21 still requiring masks be worn inside. Parking underneath with disabled access. Some food and drinks available.
Neil Wessels
Beautiful venue with a great selection each calendar season. Like all theaters, pricing can be higher than expected but, comparably, Jones Hall events are reasonably priced and there's not really a bad seat in the house that we've experienced. Only negative is that they need more women's restroom according to my wife
Valerie Anne Shirley
We were at Jones Hall for my daughter's graduation. I worried that the parking would be difficult, but it was super easy. I'll be honest, the seating is a little tight, but the employees were very helpful and nice, clean bathrooms, etc. It is simply beautiful! This location made a special night even more special.
Samuel Smith
Beautiful performance hall with nice seating. Sound level from the orchestra was perfect. My only complaint would be that there seemed to be only one restroom that I saw for the entire auditorium causing a huge line during our intermission.
Bernadine Joplin
Loved it! Then again i simply love the theater. I love the performing arts. I remember when my neice was growing up and she was a dancer! She was a ballerina! I remember how much I enjoyed watching her performances! I will never forget that, being downtown Ann Arbor at the Power Center, watching all of them perform their recitals, it was nice. This love for Performing Arts has been w me since i was a kid.
Mike Lancaster
Great venue, with the exception of the restrooms. Just not enough capacity. Otherwise, lovely.
Suzanne Huston
Excellent acoustics. They generally bring in some incredible singers or world renowned musicians to accompany the main orchestra to make the experience delightful. I personally feel there are no bad seats to hear the music, so the choice is yours.
kui001
Always a joy to hear the Houston Orchestra. 10/10 Experience.
Karen Taylor
Love Jones Hall. I am sure there are newer, shiner and fancier places across the country, let alone the world. It is a beautiful building built in the mid 1960's. I've never been in a seat that didn't have beautiful sound and I love that there are not isles going through the seating. Everyone enters from the side, simply find the row you are on above the entry doors and you need only walk through the door to your seat. Some complain about people needing to exit during a performance, but honestly, that is rare. The intermissions allow for those needed breaks. The facility's biggest flaw, in my opinion, is the restrooms. The main restrooms are downstairs and the stairwell is narrow. There are a good amount of stalls for the ladies, but because there only three ladies rooms throughout the building, they all have very long lines and the gentleman's develop a long line as well, though theirs does clear faster. Because of this, the scheduled fifteen minute intermissions are often expanded to 20 minutes. Even so, there are always a few folks that are let in after the first song post intermission. My advise, skip the drinks and the merchandise until after the restroom, by the time you get there, you'll need to go ;)
Phi Pham
You cant not give Jones Hall a 5 star rating. We have been going here for 8 years as students (undergrad to doctoral) and loved every time we've gone here. You can hear everything even when you're on the top floor with no microphone. Food and wine is kinda pricey but that's expected.
Jake M.
Beautiful venue with fantastic acoustics. The timeline and photos displayed downstairs are pretty cool as well. Plenty of friendly staff on hand to assist with directions, help with seating, and serve the different snacks and beverages. ***Special note: no drinks allowed at your seat on symphony nights in order to respect the performance and necessary silence.
Cindy Deister
We are very happy to be close to an excellent performance venue! The staff at Jones Hall obviously works hard to provide a great experience. The offerings and pricing are varied for all ranges of patrons.
Perhaps a map or detailed signage would help with walking to the restroom. Keep up the great work!
Adanna Okoye
I came here for the first time last month to see Shen-Yen. Thought the hall was very warm and classic. It very spacious but with an intimate feel which I liked. I think it's a really good place to have an event, maybe outside of the theater itself. Maybe a holiday or cocktail party or banquet. It's also very formal, helpful, and welcoming in regards to the staff. I would definitely go see another performance here.
Nancy Alcindor
I had an awsome experience seeing the Houston symphony performing some of the best hits of the 80's. It brought many good memories to me. They did a great job and it was a pleasure to see the music conductor.
It is a performance that I will definitely attend again.
Antonio Trejo
Beautiful place! Saw the Houston Symphony play selections of John Williams.
Hans Gonzalez
Had a fun time enjoying live theater. The food & drink offerings in the lobby were a pleasant surprise, certainly did not expect to find a pasta bar in full swing. The seating is a little dated, but comfortable enough. I look forward to seeing other performances here.
Rana Yacoub
Great location for an engagement photoshoot!
-Houston Photographer
Mike Pace
Love seeing the movies and the symphony! Even though the seats were "obstructed" it didn't take away from my experience.
Brent Marshall
A top tier auditorium featuring the highest caliber artists and ensembles and orchestras in the world. The sound is as perfect in back as it is in the front row due to the state-of-the-art accoustics. World class job in rebuilding the place. The staff are ultra professional, courteous, helpful and attentive. The different foods that were served were high caliber and exotic as well. We enjoyed the entire experience. 5 stars for sure
Julie Webb
People were nice for the most part, a bit short tempered ushers and concession workers but still group still enjoyed it overall. Seats very nice and comfortable. Walking down corridors it was neat to see the past of the theater on the walls.
R Flores
A beautiful performing arts building with friendly ushers and staff. Even if you're not a fan of the performing arts, I highly recommend coming to see the movies with live orchestra, it's an other-worldly experience! Seats are nice and comfy, and the view is nice. Only thing i recommend is don't come hungry because the price of refreshments and snacks here is through the roof!
Melissa Padilla
We are members and mostly attend Houston Symphony Pops Performances and children's performances and always enjoy Jones Hall. The theater is large and architecturally stunning. The seating is comfortable, we usually in the orchestra level and have never had a bad view. They now allow drinks in the venue, you can have your drinks waiting for you at intermission.
David Arenas
What an experience. If you haven't been you must come.
PRKristyna Torres-Cruz
Incredible orchestra, in a venue that doesn't appear to have any "bad"seating. Food is amazing, but the drink lines are insane and impossible to make it to your seat on time. Really great music by the Houston Symphony!
P Ieong
Went for the broadway symphony. Small intimate stage. The sound was beautiful. Very clean
O'Zandra
We went there to see Swan Lake. Great production!!! We sat in one of the boxes. Which had great views. The women's bathroom; however, had a long line. There were only about 3-4 stalls when there could have been 8 with the space given. I spent one of the intermission standing in line ...mister, being supportive, stood with.
Amy Goehring
This is located downtown. Parking is available one underground across the street, and one street level at the back of theater across the street. Please plan on paying about $20 cash for any event parking . If the event is more than 3 hours you are looking at $ 26
All parking is a bit of walk so you will need to dress for that.
There is dining available now inside of Jones hall. Some of the items on the menu were chicken Alfredo and Caesar salads. They also have kid friendly food such as hamburgers, pastas. Pricing between $$ to $$$$.
Acholic beverages are also available with I.D.
Inside the seats were comfortable, lighting was dim.
If you need special seating for handicap you need to make reservations and let them know as seating for this is very limited.
The acoustics and sight lines were great.
It makes for an amazing date night with tickets starting at $39.
Greg C
Great showing and beautiful sound from the orchestra! Only thing that is keeping it from 5 stars is the ushers do not know how to read what seat section you are supposed to be in! Terribly aggravating when they seat 2 people in the same seat when they work there and should know how to read our tickets. Not only did it happen to my party, but I saw it occur to 4 other parties in just 20 minutes! Need some more training for them.
Lisbet Marquez Houston City Beat
A beautiful place…auto tagged by my phone.
Alvelma Irby
Everything was very nice. Atmosphere was great. Food was great. Performance was great.
Jaden Cravens
They do a great job of security and health checks for COVID. We always love the performances and sound in Jones Hall! It is tragically empty compared to before the virus but I am glad it's open again.
Jason A.
A nice respected building with sidewalks covered by the large overhanging roof... which is its only pedestrian friendly feature. Otherwise, it is not very welcoming from the outside... little else but lots of high stone walls, and too small pavestones on the sidewalk in a color that just looks perennially dirty.
Joseph Sanders
Perennial beautiful, spacious, well managed venue.
Elizabeth Sowell
Acoustics are fantastic and seats are quite comfortable. We sat towards the back of the mezzanine in the center section and it was noticeably warmer there compared to the rest of the venue. This section is also right in front of the stage spotlights which may be the contributing factor to the temperature difference. Restroom facilities are few and far between so expect long lines at intermission.
Jamie A
I have been to many performances here and have always had a good time. The sound is good and there's not really a bad seat in the house. It could use some renovating. The seats are looking worn and the location of the restrooms are very inconvenient. I recently attended America's Test Kitchen Live. Prior to the show they had a very entertaining performance by Percussion One. What a talented group! They did a clever percussive based show with a kitchen theme. America's Test Kitchen was interesting. I wasn't sure what to expect seeing a single person instead of a show, but it was interactive and fun. I look forward to attending more shows this season.
kathy gates
We really enjoyed the show!
Jakob Goree
Wow! What an experience! We saw Viva Las Vegas, and my goodness it was amazing. The Houston symphony is truly mesmerizing. Jones Hall itself is beautiful and elegant. A night to remember for anyone who is smart enough to reserve some seats for a show.
Stephen E Robinson Jr
Love this place! Saw Drum Tao this time.
Satya Venkata Siddhardha Manchala
Beautiful ambiance and acoustics. The seats were a little short to my liking. Really intriguing ceiling design. All in all, a good place in downtown area to visit for any show/event.
Doneky Mann
Nice theatre that has performances from all over the world. Design is nice and parking isn't too much of a hassle, usually. Don't come here looking for a meal, as you will probably find something, but it won't be that good. Easy to get into, but the seat layouts are a bit confusing, as the numbers start from the middle, and not the left or the right.
εντομοφάγος
Got to watch the blue man group live after growing up watching online
DyLynn Plunkett
This was a double first for me - first time at Jones Hall and first symphony, Stravinsky's Firebird. Parking was fairly easy - $12 in a nearby garage. Had a little trouble navigating from the garage (we parked on the far side) to the hall. Employees were nice enough in giving directions to the restrooms and our seats. Had cheaper seats in the upper right section but still had a great view of the performance.
Tam Tam
My soul is so happy when I am able to enjoy to the fullest the great Houston Symphony!! ♡♡ Always a treat to come here and enjoy the beautiful sounds. Today was Clarinet solo/lead plus we get approximately 160 chorus singers for Brahms!!
Melody Hartin
We went to watch Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire performed my the Houston Symphony. When we showed, parking and entering the building was easy. My family immediately said they were hungry and I was NOT looking forward to buying food. Typically places like this have outrageously priced items. That was not the case. We enjoyed a salad, drinks, and a nice arrangeme bu t of crackers, fruit, and cheeses for a reasonable price. The performance was absolutely amazing! We can't wait to return to this venue in the near future.
Karla Savino Escalante
Super clean and very organized. The staff working there is very friendly. I went there to watch Swan Lake performed by the Houston Ballet. The performance was extraordinary. We had an amazing time. I love going to the events/performances that they
Nicolas Buthay
Great venue. Hall acoustic is very good (I am not a sound engineer, but in my humble opinion that place sounds really great). I like how they aim at many different attendee profiles, they have programs for kids, young people, grown ups, retirees... I don't go very often, but every now and then I check their calendar and there's always something interesting in the horizon.
C Ab
Let's make it one night this winter to see best performance
Charles Aulbach
Excellent venue for exceptional symphonic music. Seating is comfortable unless you sit in the center of a row because there is no middle aisle. Restrooms are down long stair ways, so if your mobility is limited, plan ahead. Staff are very helpful, but the building is not ADA friendly.
James Leatherman
The best acoustics hall in Houston. We came here to see the official "Chicago, The Musical" I've seen a few live musicals. I was very happy with this performance. The actors were incredible.
Michale Noll
Loved the questionnaire programs that children received...very great idea!
ILhan Sener
Houston Symphony which is one of the best in US deserves a better designed concert hall. Concert hall is great in terms of acoustics and capacity. But, the rest is a massive mismanagement of space. Especially, the restroom locations and accessing them could not have been any worse. What was the architect thinking of 50+ years ago?
Jia Chen
Packing garage is in walk distance with $12 event rate. The performance hall is clean and inviting. But the deco looks kind of old and size is small. The seats are comfortable. Sound effect kind of fade away if you're on lower ticket seats. Food is not that bad. Biggest complain is too few bathroom and you have to climb so much stairs to get there.
Lindsey DeLany
Has a grand and formal feeling but the theater itself seemed a bit dated. Also, there is seating behind the light and sound control area so you could have bright computer screens in front of you during a performance.
Lonestar Woodworks
This was our third visit to Jones Hall for an event. We had a very pleasant time. There's always a great atmosphere and the selection of Refreshments is always fantastic. The staff is very helpful and the seating is almost always perfect.
Ms.DEE FRANCOIS
Always A First Class Experience. The Beauty & Comfort, The Staff & Security, The Elevator Attendant All were above and beyond Professional. Houston You came through with Elegance & Grace. This was A Night to remember.
OVERALL : 100% EXCELLENT
Virginia Barriera
This is the place I been coming to hear uplifting music
Michael McGuire
Great place for a concert. Access is good, acoustics are excellent. Food prior to concert on 2nd floor is simple but tasty. Nice pasta dish as well as paninis and salads. Houston Symphony is always excellent and the performance venue shows them off to great advantage.
Laura Haskovec
We love Jones Hall. It's got lots of windows, and it's easy to navigate to find your seats. The parking can be a bit tough in downtown, but the connected garage is really nice if you don't mind the price. The Light Rail drop off right there if you wanna save on the downtown driving and parking.
Terence Fisher
Jones Hall has really great theatre shows! They bring some of the best talent in the world here. The reason I'm giving this 4 stars and not 5 is because of the seating. First, the seating they have is very uncomfortable!
The seats are movie theatre style but with almost no room to relax a bit. If you aren't sitting in an erect position, your kness will be up against the seats in front of you. Also, if you're sitting next to someone you will definitely be fighting them over the small arm rest.
Not to to mention, getting to your seat is a nightmare, especially if you're in the higher areas. Elevators take you partially there, then you will have to climb steep stairs to get to your seat. But, if you can bare a couple hours of discomfort, then Jones Hall is otherwise great.
Kyle Simmons
Saw Harry Potter Order of the Pheonix. Yes they play the music and the movie. Yes it is amazing and yes, it is affordable to go. Crowed participation unlike any theater I have ever been in. My date and I loved it! Great date night activity!
Vanessa Holloway
Excellent movie enhanced by the outstanding Huston Symphony Orchestra.
The drummer was particularly impressive.
Zan Gligorov
Great place bringing many words renowned and famous people. When possible get seats in the orchestra pit for best VIP experience.
Erin K
Always a great experience going to Jones Hall. This is the view from Grand Tier Right Center Section D Row D1.
William Betton
Great place acoustics are awesome.
Ismael Ramos
What a blast the Houston Symphony Orchestra was and the circus acts done with them was a stroke of genius
Walker Hale IV
A nice performance theater in downtown Houston. Beautiful building.. Comfortable seats. Great views of the stage. Somewhat limited women's restroom capacity.
pamela fernandez
I always love going here for the Performing Arts! I just went to see the Sound of Music and I loved the production! Great singers! My whole family was wide awake for the whole show which isn't an easy feat to achieve!!
Erika Ospina
I loved it. It was a beautiful show.
Amorette Casimir
Parking a little hectic around the area. Very helpful staff. Easy to get around the theater. Great experience 👍. …
Fatima K
been here twice for Neil degrasse Tyson
Tremell
Great experience of the musical arts.
David Villarreal
The music selection and performance was one of the most exciting I have ever heard. Ended with Beethoven No. 7.
The conductor wore an untucked long shirt, plain black pants and contrasting tuxedo patent shoes while all others were in tuxedo tails. A bit unconventional.
And Jones Hall restrooms' location and size is extremely far and small. You walk down a narrow stairwell that you have to turn sideways to pass a single lane going up. It's down then up then over more. Rarely have I attended such a large venue and seen such an extemely long line out of the men's restroom.
It was truly an overall memorable experience.
Anita Lal
Just saw Shen Yun at Jones Hall. It was truly spectacular. A unique show...a unique performance...a unique experience. My parents have been wanting to see it for the past few years and I was finally able to take them for their anniversary this year. They are both in their eighties and they said it was the best show they have ever seen. That really means something as they have lived a long time so they have seen a lot of shows. This performance combines the best of ballet, gymnastics, acrobatics, folk dance, ethic dance, modern dance, musical composition, choreography, costume design, set design, and audio-visual technology. This is a must-see.
David Vise
We went to see The Wizard of Oz. The show was not bad, but it was not all that good. I should have expected something when every discount website was offering tickets at a discount. The girl who played Dorothy was only OK. She did not project well, when singing or speaking. Her rendition of Over the Rainbow was mediocre, at best. A young woman played Auntie Em. She maid no attempt to sound like an older person and lost a lot of credibility. The lady who played the wicked witch did not sound particularly evil at all. She sound quite friendly. The words were evil, but not her tone. I think the cast needs to go back to acting school.
Louis Gonzales
Houston icon in the arts. So beautiful and full with so much talent.
Brittany Zimmerman
Absolutely stunning performances.
Jordan Wollin (VegasTrader1984)
I saw Complexion Contemporary Ballet and it was an amazing performance in every way! The venue was as equally fascinating. They served food and the guy making the pasta dishes was extremely friendly an pleasing.
Monica Simmons
It is a great place to see and hear the symphony
maxine fortner
Love the music, but rude staff these days! :(
Arthur Wells
just came back from seeing Star wars empire strikes back. the most incredible experience I have ever had. I will never be able to see this movie the same way again. I'm just blown away how incredible the symphony is. highly recommend to everybody young and old.
Dale Franklin
Who ever was over the tickets did a horrible job!
T R
#Harrypotterlive was so good! If the orchestra was not on stage I would not have known it was them playing the score!!! They were awesome! Long lines for the ladies restrooms, but the venue was great!
Hung Van Doan
Saw Shen Yun here on the 26th. Loved it!!! The theater is just beautiful! Comfortable seats. Staffs were so courteous and helpful, there were many garage parking nearby that was convenient, despite the crazy downtown traffic. I parked on Louisiana almost next to the theater. Looking forward to the next show here!
Lydia Rice
No matter where you sit it is a great view. After the show you have to leave immediately. No lounging or partaking of the cafe afterwards.
dina Larenas
I attended a performance of Tao: Drum Heart with my 11 year old nephew and we had a wonderful time. The staff is very helpful and friendly. However, I believe that the layout of the building is a bit antiquated and could use remodeling. Especially because all of the restrooms are downstairs past a long corridor to get reach them; this is very inconvenient as the long lines of patrons bottleneck down the stairs during intermissions.
JaneEyre
I love attending the symphony here at Jones Hall. The music is perfection and I look forward to every visit. Restaurants are in walking distance...and in heels at that! Great way to spend a night out on the town.
ROSEANNE WILLIS
Was a wonderful performance of American /Gershwin music! 🎹🎶🎻🎼 …
Erik Bartlow
Saw Shen Yun here. Great venue. The seats in the grand tier were awesome.
Heather Nicole
I had nosebleed seats about as far back as you can get, but it was still a great experience with nice acoustics that I could hear crystal clear all the way from the back! Would love to go again.
Crystal CEE
Orchestra seats 5... venue 5... easy access to the ladies room 4.8 (less if you can't walk down the stairs and up a flight to get there)... overall.. this place is wonderful! I have been here more than 10Xs since moving to Houston and with almost 3k ppl capacity, every seat in the house has a dynamic view of the stage!
Anna
Went to see Chicago. I really enjoyed it. Amazing choreography and vocals. Bars located everywhere, food options in the back, and restrooms (which were super clean) are located downstairs. Staff was friendly.
Eliska Holmes
It was great. The elevator was slow. The view was amazing! The customer service was great!
Alejandra Maldonado
Amazing place, amazing staff and wonderful presentations.
Jenn R
Very kind people. Helped me get to my seat. I loved SHEN YUN!!!
John
The Houston Symphony has really opened my eyes and ears to how brutal orchestra can actually be. The virtuosos are simply amazing. If you love music, not a solely one genre. But music at its core, all of what it has done for mankind. You will not regret experiencing what the Houston Symphony has to offer.
Stephen
Jones Hall is a classic venue for the performing arts.
Patty Donaldson
Lovely venue for a musical show. We had tickets on the 2nd row of the balcony, but had to lean forward to see the vocalists. Because the balcony was not crowded, we moved to the back row of the lower level balcony and had marvelous seats!
Samantha Jones
Very much enjoyed an evening in Jones Hall. Was very impressed by the seats, comfortable AND they shifted forward and back to allow for persons in the aisle. Clean and spacious restroom. Crowd control much better than I expected.
Christopher Foley
Nice concert venue with good acoustics. It's not huge, which means that even upper mezzanine seats have largely unobstructed, and good views of the stage. Concessions and drinks frequently have very long lines.
Renee Rowlands
Shen Yun was vibrant and spectacular
Lisa Tynan
The Houston Symphony is phenomenal. As good, if not better, than any major city symphony in the country. If you can sit close to watch the conductor, it is a real treat- he is magnificent!
glorys9
Houston symphony was truly amazing...I wish the other conductor was there, as the guest conductor played so fast and rammed the pieces so closely together, it was a bit insulting. But the pieces were beautiful inspite of the race to the finish.
Cheyenne Peer
I love Jones hall. The shows are a bit here and there for me. I love the Broadway productions that come through and some of the other concert/performance (Stomp, Finding Neverland, and Alton Brown have been three of my all time favorites, thusfar). I love the talks afterwards, they're always fun.
I would give 5 stars, however:
* I do love the opening shows in the lobby, BUT the last couple times I've been, guests have been blocking the hand rails. It makes it very difficult for my handicappable mother to get up and down the stairs when the doors open. There was a very elderly woman who's family nearly had to carry her at a show because she couldn't support herself with just the wall.
* I know it would be an undertaking, but I wish there was a walkway through the center of the lowest level. I find it hard to get to the center as it is, and often see people climb over chairs when they've gone down the wrong row. I can't imagine how it's up to code per fire safety, but what do I know?
Meshlee Simpson
Great Hall. Not too big, not too small. Lots of ushers and lots of doors. Access to underground parking from front entrance.
Nathan Cash
Saw Hanson here with the Houstom Symphony. Great show. Symphony was incredible. 4 stars because of the price gauging for drinks. $42 for 3 drinks. Plus I couldn't tip the bartender with my card. Otherwise great time.
Dan Flores
The hall itself is fine. Audiences these days are increasingly impolite. Cell phones, clapping in between movements (classical performances), and talking can be irritating issues. Drinks are expensive. But, if you're with the right person/people, it can be enjoyable.
Charles W Basden
Here each month for Houston Pops (Symphony) shows. Sound system quality varies from show to show. Getting in out of the stage-end of the lower floor is not easy. I worry about it in case there is a emergency need to exit quickly. Interior could stand a little TLC and style updates. Staff is friendly and the limited food service and bar are generally good.
Patti Westbrook
Lovely venue for the Houston Symphony. There is a restaurant that opens an hour before performances as well as a bar. Every seat is good, but we love the box seats the best!
Chantrece Mitchell
Beautiful venue! Select Middle balcony seats for a better view! Avoid the corners.
TJ Bittick
Wonderful venue except it is not very handicapped accessible. Lots of stairs with no other way to access your seating if you are in a wheelchair. Be aware and call ahead before you buy tickets.
T B
Several elevators were not working. It is not easy to know where to park. The staff, however, was gracious and kind & alcohol prices were the best of any venue we have been to.
Cyndee Frey
K.D. Lang amazing. Perfect venue
Kelli Jones
Me and my girlfriends had a wonderful time listening/watching the Houston Symphony performance of the Black Panther!!
Khristina Perry
Took my daughter to see Swan Lake. Not enough restrooms. We barely made it back to our seats in time during intermission. In fact, we were the ONLY ones in our section who actually made it back. We had to use the opposite door because door 35 was closed a bit early and you have to use the elevator to get to it. Luckily, we went in the other door.
James Xu
We love the place mainly for the performance from Houston symphony. The staffs in the facility are also very professional and polite. The parking is a little inconvenient, however due to its off-site location. You have to cross a rather busy street to get to the hall.
Derek Rowe
Great selection of music and the symphony chorus had some amazing talent. The Broadway pops concert was a lot of fun and makes me want to see more Broadway shows.
laura schaffer
Andres is amazing! The Houston symphony is top notch producing numerous recordings which are often played on NPR. For those not into hardcore classical or wanting to tempt your child into enjoying instrumental music, they also have a pops symphony and Harry Potter showings with orchestral accompaniment.
Kevin King
Saw Neil Degrasse Tyson speak here and loved every minute of it. The theater itself is okay, no center aisle means seating can be a bit annoying especially since the numbers still originate in the inaccessible center and count outwards. Food wasn't great and despite being nearly an hour early was still in short and slow supply. Lots of drinks flowing however. Intend to return again soon and will revisit if anything changes.
William Davion
The orchestra here is one of the best. They're very dedicated and offer a good mix of music for a good price. It would be nice if they updated the building though. It's very dated and is starting to show it.
Connie H
I would have given it 5🌟 last year. but they advertised a New Years special, picturing a particular concert in the ad and when you go to purchase, THAT concert was excluded. Otherwise, I go there for all of my concerts. (added Dec. 2019) This year I found a horrible issue with the restrooms and allotted time for intermission. I nearly missed returning to concert because of the lack of restrooms for the numbers of people. The line to the refreshments was so long that I missed getting something, because I had to stand in line at the restrooms in order to return before intermission was over. This needs to be addressed, especially at the Christmas season.
Courtney Fleming
A great place to see theatre or concert. The acoustics are amazing. The only drawback is that the balcony seeting comes with a built in view blocking railing. It's not terrible, just annoying af.
Grace Anthony
This is an absolutely beautiful theater, designed for optimal viewing seating (there isn't a bad seat anyplace). The staff and local performers who entertained the masses prior to the show were top notch.
Sammy Peters
Nice venue
Ridiculous prices for sodas and drinks
Terrible overpriced food
Duke Ensell
A grand facility hosting many of Houston's premier events. On going renovations going on to continue it's popularity.
F Pow
The Atmosphere is unique. The lines can be extremely long but they make the most of the space they have.
The auditorium is very large and houses many people, just make sure you know where your seats actually are (Upstairs or down) before arriving.
Arrive Early!
JR Troconis
Great acoustic, great performance, efficient ushers, however: front rows should not be used as they are too close, insufficient bathroom areas, the smell of food in the auditorium is unpleasent
Andrea Sylve
Alvin Ailey Dance Company was phenomenal!!! So happy live acts are back with necessary precautions!
Hunter Winey
Beautiful building inside and out!
Laura Marcantoni
We early to listen to the free pre concert talk which was both witty and informative, then we had a cup of dreadful coffee (the patrons can deal with overpriced and good but overpriced and dreadful is hard to swallow) before going back into the theater for a conert. And what concert: Joshua Bell performing with and directing the orchestra it was pure magic.
Daniel Ngo
This is a nice performance hall with comfortable seating and a great atmosphere. The staff are all very professional and friendly. I enjoy coming to see the Houston Symphony perform here.
Tom Muras
Parking is simple. underground and just across the street. Venue is good. Watched symphony perform and they sounded great. Restrooms are the only complaint....they seem way undersized for the size of the venue.
Y J
Seats are comfortable. But the restrooms need some serious renovation...there were only 4 stalls on the balcony 2 level. I was in line for 20 minutes.
Scott Story
Great venue...there are no bad seats in the house. The only negative is the severe lack of restroom space. It is almost impossible to use the facilties at intermission because the long lines. Other than that, a stunning performing arts center.
John Auwaerter
Musical quality was very good. Content was disappointing. From the description on your website, I was expecting more instrumentals such as string of pearls, swing, woodchoppers ball etc.
Samuel Smiley
The Houston Symphony has become (continues to be) one of the best in the world. We recently saw Augustin Hadelich do Sibelius' violin concerto--on a Strad of course. They had to make the audience sit down after 3 standing ovations, an encore and more standing ovations. Unbelievable!
robert varga
We sat through a 3 hours of one of the most spectacular live performances I have ever witnessed. The Houston Ballet performing Swan Lake and it was nothing less than phenomenal
Sharon Hoyt
Top music venue. Love the Houston Symphony Pops! Always an upbeat show! If you haven't attended buy a ticket or partial series today!
christine swaney
The Houston Symphony has a wonderful program for upper elementary students.
This year's program was the best I've been to in all my years of being associated with the program. Very engaging.
Deborah Hymer
Great concert venue. Have seen plays, symphony and Alton Brown. Not a bad seat in the house.
maribel cannon
Nice place for a live show. Had lower seats by the doors and still had good view of the stage.
John Bemis
Home of the Houston Symphony, a great facility for them. We especially enjoy the Pops series. They designed it well as it suffered no damage from Hurricane Harvey. The only drawback is the long stairs to the restrooms.
Janet atGmail
Comfortable venue, but I noticed it was very challenging to navigate for those with mobility issues. There's limited elevator space for access to facilities during the intermission and times of high traffic.
Hung Nguyen
Nice place to entertain concert. Just parking lot is a little bit confused, be sure to know which theatre you are going to since it's huge parking which can make you walk a long way, especially with toddlers and kids, if you park on the wrong side.
R DB
Show up one hour early: you can park with great ease, make your way into the building without the lines, enjoy a drink, order some food, and watch the crowds make their way in. All while you leisurely enjoy your time and not worry about arriving late.
N Haji
Excellent performance by Mr. Franz and Symphony musicians. He introduced different components and the sound waves structure. This was helpful and appropriate for the Educational Trip. Best use of time.
D/C B
The symphony played great!
Martha Andrews
Absolutely lovely experience ❤
Yvonne Wu
Good place for watch the ballet perform
Jenna Jackson
Jones Hall is a beautiful, majestic building. The Houston Symphony is a local treasure, and I attend every chance I get. Parking is reasonably priced for the area, and if you park underground it's easy to connect with Jones Hall.
Gregory Kechejian
First visit to Houston from Boston with family. Sunday afternoon performance of the HSO at Jones Hall playing Dvorak exceeded all our high expectations. Size, layout, acoustics, food, bar, service, restrooms and cosmopolitan ambience of this spectacular center for the performing arts tops any in the U.S. Completed in 1966, it remains very well maintained and contemporary by the Houston Endowment. Highlight of the trip. Thank you Houston! Greg, Fahti and Elizabeth
Perry Hicks
Houston Symphony fantastic if you haven't had achancie to go I encourage you to do so..
Stephanie Humbert
Excellent show! 👏🏾👏🏾 Common is the first hip hop artist to perform with the Houston Symphony and I was there in the front row no less!! Mind blown!🤯🤯 …
kathy Cassinelli
Would love to have bathroom access where you didn't have to go down stairs. Also there doesn't seem to have elevator access to all levels.
Bychiree White
It was a nice atmosphere and everyone had great attitudes. The performances is always wonderful as well. I definitely recommend this place to everone who love music and art performances!
Sabrina Medina
I didn't like that they made you wear mask... But overall it was a pleasant experience.
ATViroTech Inc
Great place to hold an arts venu
Jerri Fab
I love the seats. You don't have to stand everytime someone needs to get past you and they are very comfortable. However the journey to the bathroom felt like a task.
Michael XD
Nice. You will know that it is spectacular by the entrance alone.
Dona Keith
Very nice venue....shen yun there. Parking garage and eateries closeby. The Lancaster was still closed since harvey, but looking forward to staying there again. Walking distance to theatre. Other well priced and dog friendly hotels nearby as well
