Terrific intimate theatre performing by and for the people of Hawaii. Always glad I came! Mahalo nui loa

Plays written for, by, and about the people of Hawaii. This theatre is one of the stars in a constellation of excellent community theatres with performances that rival and surpass what audiences would expect of professional houses.

Small intimate live theater productions, mostly Hawaiian themes.. many local actors, all good performances.. each production left me with many new ideas to ponder and explore.. very enjoyable experience!

an excellent place to see original plays as well as established playwrights. PacRim centric with a contemporary twist, from local to New York, Samoa and back. Well directed, acted and produced pieces in an old court house building -- cool little black box theatre with a dedicated company

I VERY much enjoyed this theater, but then I prefer cozy, smaller venues like this one for simple plays.
Seating is comfortable, and you can get as close to or away from the stage as you like.
Bathrooms are nice and near the stageroom; there's a plaza outside with some seating for smoking or hanging out; plenty of affordable parking nearby; and the staff are nice too

One of the gems of local theater. A showcase for local writers writing about things Hawaiian. Intimate theater seats about 100 in historic downtown building. As you walk to the theater look around at the architecture of some of the surrounding old buildings. Cheap parking at Harbor court, one minute away.

Great plays take place at this theater. This venue, however, is very small and makes one feel claustrophobic. It does offer an intimate perspective for the audience.

Fourth time and still love it! All settings, scenes and acting are done on a stage no bigger than 8' x 8' encircled by the audience on three sides and this time the audience was interacting. What will they think of next!
Bruce
Intimate theater showcasing local work. Every seat is a good seat. Front row seats put you inches from the actors. Kumu Kahua is a hidden gem in our community that deserves enthusiastic support.

Small and intimate place for watching plays written by local authors. Well run. Very pleasant. Easy location to find. Street and garage parking nearby in historic Honolulu downtown.
