Reviews of Diamond Head Theatre

After having seen a few shows here over the years, I saw Anything Goes, one of my favorites, here. As it turns out, it was the final show in the theater's long history. It was my honor to be here.
The show itself was excellent. Minimal stage dressing, given the limited space, but at times aggressive use of that space. Singing was pretty good and really went for it. Usually, there's localizing of the eponymous song, but not here (which was fine). There was one blocking error, where one side of the theater couldn't see the actors. Pre-intermission tap number was outstanding and brought the house down... as that number should! I literally laughed and cried. So glad I went.

This is the new building recently built. The seats are comfortable with lots of leg room and relatively wide seat space. Good acoustics. Very nice all around!

The Diamond Head Theatre is now in a new building. The theatre is beautiful. (See what $25M will get you!) The seats in the theatre are super comfortable along with lots of leg room, even for me. (I'm 6' 4''!) The performance that we saw was, La Cage Aux Folles! It was excellent and they did a great job. So well done! Thank you DHT. I still miss the old DHT as I used to go there when I was a kid. Also being able to park nex door at the KCC was very helpful.

Sadly parking is limited to old theatre parking behind the old theatre and across the street at Kapiolani Community College. Otherwise it’s a beautiful new theatre with a large waiting area and a small concession stand.

Diamond Head theater is no doubt the best place to see a play in The diamond Head area. Because if you were to see a play anywhere else in that area it would be not in a theater..

Always a wonderful experience! I am excited that we will soon be able to see shows in the new theater. I recommend becoming a season subscriber to support the local arts scene and to get a good deal as well. The ticket packages can be very flexible to fit your needs.

Awesome... I thoroughly enjoyed the well made production of "Waitress" the choreography was on point, cast was fabulous! I would recommend attending all shows they have. I'm going to purchase season tickets after seeing what they did with "Waitress". Handicap accessible with available refreshments for purchase. Aloha Joseph.. You won't be disappointed.

Went to watch Murder on the Orient Express. My favourite theatre in Honolulu. Had seats at the back but it is small enough that I could enjoy the performance perfectly. There is headphones for the difficult of hearing.
The performance was excellent. Very well done and the stage props were very creative and really made it feel like I was there. Highly impressive for a small theatre.
Only negative is not a huge selection of snacks but there are some drinks. I don't think anyone goes to the theatre for the snacks though.
Will be going again soon!

The play Anything Goes was amazing! Big cast & loved the tap dancing. Wine & beer before the show. Last play to show before the new theater opens.

Beehive - Diamond Head Theatre
Wow!!! I have to bring my mother to watch this show. I can guarantee that you will know 95% of the songs in this feature. All classic 1960s music with a very well done narrative of the life of Women in the 60s... through music.
The start of the show felt a bit slow. Ok, I was at the preview, but i think it felt a little rough because the audience didn’t know how to respond. “Pulling Teeth” is how could better describe it but Artistic Director John Rampage did tell the audience that the performers were ready for the audience to play along.
As the songs started, I was bobbing my head, tapping my feet, and clapping my hands. My first cheer came when “You Can’t Hurry Love” came on... still one of my favorite songs ever. My first tear (yes, I will admit that I cry during awesome moments) came on “Will You Still Love Me” as they did it with so much affection. My heart jumped on “Where The Boys Are” because I know Connie Francis is one of my mother’s favorite artists.
My “A-Ha” moment came when “Abraham, Martin, & John.” The whole company on stage with beautiful harmony touching on some of the most significant events in the 60s and the whole history of the U.S.A. At this point I was sold.
Make time the time to get to Diamond Head Theater and watch Beehive. If you do, the final act about Woodstock, which I purposely left out, will let you know that this show is worth the price of the ticket!
