Reviews of The Bushnell Performing Arts Center
Melvin Coleman
Been there a few times now, recently saw “Aladdin”. Acoustics are good here, not great. Seating is very tight here, a bit uncomfortable, but it’s designed for maximum capacity. Staff is very nice and friendly. Nice souvenirs selection. Concessions leaves a bit to be desired, alcohol is served. Marketing and programs are always well done. The stairs are a trek if you’re seated in the balcony. The inside of the theatre, walls and tapestry are all nice and provides a great experience!

We went to see Hamilton production, and the show was amazing! Spectacular performance and lovely singing from the cast. It was everything I expected and more. The theater itself however, leaves much to be desired. The Mezzanine seats are very uncomfortable if you are over 5'7 and/or if you have wide hips. The seat sides were digging into my mom's sides and she was in pain by the end of the night. My knees hit the seats in front of us and my knees went numb because there was no space. Just made watching the show very uncomfortable, and much less enjoyable. Maybe the floor seats are better? Drinks were standard pricing and service was good.

Went to see Mean Girls at Bushnell and was amazed. Over the years I have been to Bushnell numerous times and was never disappointed. Wherever I sat, I got a good view of the play/show/concert. The acoustics were great. The venue was beautiful and clean. The most pleasant part was the staffs there. They were always very friendly, welcoming and willing to help. If you are a frequent theater goer like me, register to Bushnell’s newsletters and sometime you will get pre-booking discount or special rate.

My first visit to this theater to see Aladdin. The theater is very nice. My only complaint is that my drink cost $14 yet I literally could not taste any alcohol in it. My friend said the same. Guess next time I'll stick to the $4 water. Free parking is a major perk.

Very pretty theatre! Great spot from any seat even holding the lights in the back!! Staff is the absolute kindest! Very welcoming and very knowledgeable in where everything is. Bathrooms are very clean. They did have a little technically difficulty during the play but they broke off for a break and got everything fixed fairly quickly! Parking is all over and easy to access if you get there early!
Icon Gate Entertainment
Bushnell Theater in Hartford, CT is a pretty good place to see a show. You do feel like you're inside a historic theater. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Bathrooms were clean. Saw Shen Yun and was a great production. A bit repetitive but very colorful with some awesome moments. I really did not see all the controversy over this show. Free parking lot next to the theater is a big plus!
Jennifer Pacheco
We had balcony seats for our first visit there. Everyone was polite and knowledgeable. The sears were small but had a great view. Acoustics were good. Parking was free and the attendants were smiling and saying hi to all. Highly recommend.
annoma rukmini
Had awesome show and staff was very friendly . Helped us not just finding our seats but made us feel comfortable at location. Refreshments from liquor and snacks were available at the location. Place was clean and lighting along good sound system

Mean💞 GIRLS the musical! Took my niece on a date we both laughed & enjoyed it was highly entertaining yet fun and a diverse musical! We had a really good view sitting in Orchestra F (10 rows away from the stage) Safe originized venue friendly staff, free parking across the street with security and the area is well lit at night 👍I highly recommend you see a show at the BUSHNELL THEATRE looking forward to future events! So happy to come and support Hartford Again!👏

Went to see Aladdin last night and the performance was spectacular. The bushnell was very clean and the staff very helpful with all my questions and friendly. I saw there was parking nearby . We ate at the Cafe as we waited for the doors to open. The brownies amazing ..They have kid drinks and adult ones. There were many bathrooms . They were close by and very convenient . A well organized event.

I really want to like this place as the theater is beautiful but from my both experience watching Broadway show here the acoustic is very poor. Even I’m sitting at the fourth row of mezzanine for Hamilton I had problem hearing what the actors are singing from time to time. The Mortensen hall’s mezzanine and balcony has very little overhang making this the longest theater I have seen. You will really have a hard time enjoying the show if sitting in the last few rows.

This was my first time to the Bushnell Performing Arts Center, this time for a performance by the Hartford Symphony. I have usually gone to much larger venues, so I was pleasantly surprised that even the seats in the rear orchestra were so close to the stage. No need for opera glasses or binoculars.
Free parking across the street was nice, but parking was tight with people straddling or crossing over parking lines. It was just across the street and about 2 blocks.
No long lines to get in. Staff were friendly and guided us to our seats. Even the lines for refreshments weren't all that long and moved quickly.
Discounted tickets for kids is an added bonus. I would love to see move families and children attending.
All-in-all it is a great experience.
Cydonie Brown
Feels good to watch one of my favorite musicals. The cast members were excellent. I cried at the end of the performance because I know it's the beginning of a new era.
HYPE HOWARD
Man oh man! 1st time at the Bushnell great atmosphere, comfortable and the staff was great! The energy was so positive and loving. AND the show oh my goodness 😳 the performance was great. One thing that stood out was the staff was on point and stopping people from recording. They made people respect the performance 👏 🙌 🙏🏽 👌, can't wait for my next experience. Oh and the bar tender by section 201 the Hispanic guy absolutely 💯 the great personality and just he kicked the night off great! I'm definitely going to look for him next time.
Ben Reigle
My first show being Hadestown was amazing in this beautiful theater. Helpful staff, great sound, AMAZING performance. 10/10
S Chapman
At Almost 50 this was my first show! I loved it The Bushnell is Gorgeous and Staff Amazing ( no Julia Roberts or Richard Gere 😭) However the Artists were Amazing …
Joan Vargas
We had a great time and the seats were wide enough for my plus size frame. Parking was free and a short walk from the entrance. Definitely coming back again.
Susan
If you haven't been to this incredible performing arts theatre, you are missing out on an incredible experience. The theater itself is a masterpiece with it's paired ceilings and art deco designs. Everything that comes to the theater is worth seeing and there is something for everyone from Broadway Plays to the Hartford Symphony Orchestra to Popular Hispanic Musicians to Intellectual and Cultural Speakers and Panels to Ballets and Musicals or Plays for adults and children. It is a gem for Connecticut!
Carolyn Mutcherson
Went to see Brian Culbertson and his band of musicians. the show was great! The Bushnell is very comfortable. Staff was professional and friendly. Parking was easily accessible, we parked for free in the parking garage. Haven't been in a long time, I'll definitely be going again.
Melissa Velardi
Convenient and beautiful theatre. We started seeing shows here so often that we ended up buying the Broadway Series package for 2020 (with shows moving to 2021) and renewed for 2022. It's so worth it for us. It keeps our mind open to new shows and ideas.
Logan Edmiston
Beautiful venue with incredibly friendly staff. The building is very comfortable, clean, well maintained, and well-appointed. The seats feel larger than most venues of this kind and the stairs don't seem to be as steep. As a bonus, there is free parking.
S Drz
I took my youngest daughter (a college sophomore) to see Six on closing night. As always, the staff and volunteers at the Bushnell we friendly and helpful. The show was AMAZING. We will continue to buy tickets for additional shows and concerts.
Denise Wilson
I've been coming to the Bushnell theater since I was a little girl. Now I'm a grandmother and I get to bring my grandchildren to the musical productions and to the academic lectures for enlightenment. The theater is a jewel in the midst of Hartford and I hope that we do all we can to sustain this theater so that future generations may also benefit from the productions held here.
Tangelene Ramsay
The Bushnell is a great live theater venue. The seats are comfortable with plenty of leg room. There isn't a bad seat in the house as you can see the stage clearly from anywhere.
Mary McDaniel
Saw Hadestown March 10. Show was terrific, theater was beautiful, free nearby parking was a plus. One rude bartender near the grand piano didn't ruin our night. She was unfriendly and abrupt. Put her somewhere else and get someone with a nice warm personality for that bar. Like I said, it didn't ruin the evening, but my daughter and I agreed that she was in the wrong job.
Sharon Sklar
I grew up going to the Bushnell. Top rate shows, symphony, used to see opera there. From Black Violin to Bach, a wonderful treat not to be missed. The building, stage, ceiling and multiple theaters are the pride of Hartford.
Michael Wilson
This was my first time at The Bushnell and enjoyed every second of it there. Seats are comfy and the atmosphere is quite something. Went to go see Six with my family last night and highly recommend it
t danz
All seats are good- show was fun and lively.
Sarah J
See Aladdin the with my family and it was a great experience!
Jill Bowen
Beautiful theater - I hadn't been in many years. And GREAT performance "Come From Away". I loved listening to the musical when it came out so very happy and impressed with the cast live!
Jay Therrien
A true gem, one of the most gorgeous buildings to experience a play, concert or similar live event in. We are fortunate to sit in the Orchestra section for the Broadway series, however have experienced shows from the Mezzanine and Balcony levels as well and there really isn’t a bad seat in the house. I also love how they support local arts and education, and their volunteers do a terrific job on show nights. Very family friendly environment that we have and will continue to support for years!
Gary Goulet
Always fantastic. The shows are equal to what you’d see on broadway and the beautiful theater transports you right there. Parking is plentiful on street or in the free lot. The staff is always friendly and helpful and there are many areas to get drinks and snacks and snacks. The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is the Cafe. Sadly we’ve had 2 bad experiences with the food and very limited seating / tables.
Aaron Laudermith
We had good seats and the show was excellent. We saw Hadestown. I can see going to more touring shows in the future.
Samuel Twigg
Great theater, show was fun (saw Hadestown). Only complaint was that the seats are quite narrow.
Natalie Nagy
Wonderful night at the Bushnell. Plenty of parking, super friendly staff. Great VIP access. Thank you Alton Brown for a wonderful show..we couldn't have asked for anything more..sheer perfection🙌🙌 …
Peter Marsh
Beautiful theater with fantastic sound. Saw Harry Potter in concert and despite being high up and far back everything was perfectly clear. Would definitely see another show.
H.E. R.
Stunning location. Parking was a little crazy but I was actually able to find free street parking instead of waiting an hour for a paid lot. I would 100% go back here for a show.
J M
Elaborate and beautiful art-deco theater and a Harford landmark. Inside are several small event spaces and a full concession. Seating is comfortable and spaced like most from the era. Main theater is sizable with a balcony; the mezzanine floor had a decent pitch. Home to the Hartford Symphony whose performance I attended prior to this review. Led by a conductor with boundless energy and enthusiasm for music.
Riannon Mecchi
Beautiful theater, convenient locations for bars and restrooms. The seats are VERY small.
SJ O
Very nice staff! The theatre was very clean, and despite being on the second balcony I had a relatively good view of the stage. The place was well kept, and the staff were all very polite to us when we needed help with seating. The theatre was in good condition too. Overall, a pleasant experience.
Jesse Owen
Beautiful abs historic theater with tons of offerings for all tastes. We saw Eva Schloss, Anne Frank's stepsister, speak of her experience in hiding and then in Auschwitz. Amazing!
Tara Cass
hamilton and aladdin were 2 great shows but dear evan hansen was awful. i sat all the way in the back. i had to stand up the entire show. a lot of swearing and it was just a bad show the rest of the shows are amazing dont go to deh though
Dr Sandra Scantling
Have been season ticket holders for many years and thoroughly enjoy the productions!
Tatiana Fonseca
Love the Bushnell! Beautiful theater that is very well organized and run. Lots of variety for the types of performances you can find here. Parking is free, which is a plus.
Kathy Miro
Had a great time at the bushnell we seen Pretty women.Great performance what a show. Loved the movie loved the play they did a great job
ed sagnella
Margaret at the ticket office is just a fabulous person! She was so helpful when I called in to check on seats and order tickets. Perfection!
Robert Hobby
The Salute to Vienna New year's concert was great! The dancing, the singing and of course the music were a sight and sound to experience. Very well done and greatly enjoyed.
There's not a bad seat in the house. If there is a show you think you would enjoy that is going to be held at the Bushnell it would be worth going to. Go have an experience you're sure to enjoy.
Christina Arias
I love this place to catch a show near my home. Always clean welcoming and easy to get in and out of. I usually park at Bushnell Park for free parking.
Ryan Harger
Their new digital stage backdrops are amazing! Great balance of actual movable props and new tech. If you get a chance to go see Anastasia while its playing here I definitely reccomend getting some tickets.
Jamy Stenger
Really great atmosphere and there doesn't seem to be a bad seat in the house, but the chairs are a bit narrow and parking is a challenge.
Andrew Bloom
Here with the family to see Rent. Balcony seats, third row. What a great view. This is a beautiful theater. Seats are not bad. A little tight for this big guy, but that's not their fault. I have seen Rent on Broadway. Shows here at the Bushnell are just as good and half the cost. Free parking across the street too. Nice night out.
Alice E. Ridgway
If you are lucky enough to score orchestra seats the new entrance & design mix coming in and out the doors by the bar so easy! Also that's the closest door to women's room. Parking on Buckland Street is free after 6 p.m. and it takes less time to walk there. As of this posting the parking behind the old state office building is limited. When you see the statue of Lafayette just stay to the right.
John Matkowski
Great experience at the Bushnell with the Travelers Chorale, the Bristol Brass and Wind Orchestra and the Bristol Chorale !!! Thank you for a tremendous performance and big thanks to all participants and sponsors !!!!
Michael Chmielewski
Top notch venue for all things theater related. Broadway Series is a highlight...when they include decent shows.
Justin Bradley
Beautiful theater with great views, just no room in the seat. Seriously uncomfortable for 2 1/2 hours there.
Deb Smith Boyle
We saw Joe Bonamassa, a great show, highly recommend. We had balcony seats and the view was very good. The ceiling art is amazing.
Pros: beautiful theater, free parking, security line moves quickly, friendly staff, clean venue.
Cons: seats are small, cramped, no leg or arm room, and get increasingly uncomfortable as the night goes on which really takes away from the enjoyment of the performance.
Vicky Chase
Great customer service. There's a crossing guard at the crosswalk from the parking lot, lots of tables and chairs to sit in outside and the ushers are so friendly and helpful. Clean lovely restrooms and lounge area outside the restrooms.
The theater is beautiful and the sound system is great. You're even treated to the arts in the outdoor courtyard on the big screen outside.
Richard “RQ” Q.
Beautiful older theater, some decor restorations during covid were made, so it's even more spectacular than ever. The seating is comfortable even for larger patrons. The entire staff was remarkable and very welcoming. Located near the capital building and Bushnell Park, its accessible to walks before or after. The buildings architecture is grand with plenty of memorable photo opportunities for group pictures as well
Icnonly Imagine
I’ve been here plenty of time. We highly recommend this place. Always purchase your tickets directly from them it’s much more affordable. This is a beautiful place. Give yourself plenty of time for arrival. You don’t want to miss any part of any of the events they give here.
Tree Farm Campground
Easy to navigate, seats were comfortable, able to view the stage perfectly. RENT was fantastic
Jennifer Welch
The Bushnell is such a beautiful theater. The environment enhances your experience.
Mark Dickinson
Wonderful venue, ample parking, with restaurants in walking distance. Great night out.
Bonnie Marquez
Went to see Hamilton with my daughter and son in law and my Son. Who is a huge Hamilton fan!! Pierre Jean Gonzales as Hamilton was fantastic!
I must say the entire cast was spectacular!
But next to the King, who was so funny. Mr. Gonzales was superb!!
Definitely would see it again. It was an early birthday present for my son from his sister. He nearly busted at the scenes with excitement and was singing along with them !
Thank you for an amazing show😘🤩💕
Clair Babecki
Saw Mean Girls there and loved it. Decent priced cup of wine and friendly staff.
Balcony seats were cheap but would probably spring for closer seats next time.
Christopher Sanders
A beautiful theater. Such a cool space to see a show. Staff are awesome, too.
Penny Rorrio
What can you say, it's the best in the state. Great parking, reasonable drinks, excellent staff, and we saw Hamilton. 10 stars
Tracy Pendergast
Always a wonderful experience penitence at the Bushnell!
Jill Bowen
The interior is simply gorgeous. Plus the musical Come From Away was exceptional!
S Coratella
Beautiful building and performances have always been great. Negatives are that tickets are very expensive and when I have brought my daughter they rarely have enough booster seats. If you don't have front row seats or someone tall sits in front of you it can be difficult to enjoy the show.
Erick Vargas
Beautiful, enchanted and very clean, staff is awesome and the show was awesome too, recommend it, the whole event was very well organized!!!!!!
Elizabeth Kanachovski
Manheim Steamroller. Nice venue ok show. Glad we finally saw them but maybe not again.
judd0112
Great place to see anything. Great set up. Free parking. Not a bad seat in the house
Terri Isenburg
Beautiful theater right in the heart of Hartford. Plenty of local restaurants nearby to make it a perfect dinner and theater combo.
Jeffrey Greer
A cultural gem in downtown Hartford.
Chris Latka
Love the free event parking and will choose over other city performing arts centers! Easy in and easy out of parking lot and theater. Friendly staff.
Emily Volz
I always love seeing shows here. I've seen many since I was a kid and I've never had a bad experience at the Bushnell. It's where I saw my first musical and created my love for Broadway shows. They have two beautiful theatres with very helpful staff and volunteers.
Tori Whaley
This is a beautiful but huge theater. Great place to see a show but keep in mind that the balcony is far and it's seats are cramped. Mezzanine or orchestra is the way to go.
If you have long legs, try for an aisle seat.
Also, buy a season ticket or subscription package for the best value.
Bradley Tatro
We’ve seen a few shows here and have always had a good experience. It’s easy to get to and plenty of free parking across the street. The parking lot has a couple of people who stay on site to keep an eye on it. The Bushnell has a few theaters in it. All have been well kept and the whole place is clean. I’ve always found that the staff is friendly and helpful. There’s bathrooms and they sell snacks and beverages. Overall a very good experience

Love seeing Broadway shows at this venue.

My husband and I held our wedding at The Bushnell in December and it was the best decision we have ever made! Domingo and his team put on a flawless event that appeared to effortlessly pull off a million tiny detailed requests! I'm not sure why there isn't a wedding there every day because it is the perfect place to accommodate events of any size while offering unique backdrops of beautiful historic decor, with all imaginable modern accommodations. I have never worked with a more dedicated group of individuals who genuinely cared about creating some of the happiest memories I will cherish for the rest of my life. The food (Max Catering) was exquisite the team ensured that we actually had a chance to eat! Based on the availability of the theatre the night of our wedding our guests were even able to take a tour behind stage during the cocktail hour while they enjoyed drinks and light refreshments. My only regret is that I haven't come up with a reason to plan another big event with this incredible team again yet.
Moises Torres
Good Broadway shows, without the travel.
Terrilee Piepul
The Bushnell theater was beautiful! I hadn't been here since I saw Lion King about 20 years ago. This time was to watch Hamilton. Unlike my previous visit when I was dropped off at the front of the Bushnell with the rest of my party, I drove and needed to find the closest parking available as I fell recently requiring ten stitches in my right knee. I asked Google to get me to the closest parking near the Bushnell... well I was in the 3rd closest. Not too bad but it was a walk. Next time I will make sure to get a parking spot right next to the theater!
Our seats were up the stairs, so half way up, I couldn't do it and went back down. It was still in the high 80's and humid af at 8pm in downtown Hartford. We were so hot from the walk there and then climbing the stairs, we sat down while the play started.
We rested and then a staff member came over to check on me. She brought us water to help cool ourselves down. She asked why we didn't take the elevator. We heard from a woman walking down the stairs earlier saying that the elevator wasn't working.
She sent us upstairs where she had another staff member escort us to our seats. Remember the seats are 16" wide and the my friend is 6'5"and 285lbs, a big tall man. He tried to get comfortable but his legs were jammed into the seat in front of him. I also wear a metal brace on my left leg and recently had 10 stitches removed from my right knee, both knees hurt a lot. So at Intermission the woman who seated us noticed he wasn't enjoying the show and she came over to speak with us. I mentioned that I had tried to change our seats but I purchased my Hamilton tickets via a broker and NOT from the Bushnell. The Bushnell had no idea of the broker's location, how much I paid for the tickets and therefore I couldn't upgrade to the lower level where handicap people sit.
She sent us down to the woman who helped us when we first arrived and she put us in more spacious seats for our legs to stretch. We missed about a half hour of the beginning of the show but finally able to enjoy the second half thanks to the wonderful staff at the Bushnell theater!
Thank you!
Lucy Fuentes
Love it! Variety of live entertainment options. Updated technology. Beautiful, spacious. Helpful staff and volunteers.
Aaliyah Miller
Great theatre for live entertainment. A wide variety of shows for all ages. I enjoy coming here and love that they offer free parking. That's hard to come by in the state with the exception of casinos.
Tesha Aiken
First time seeing a play here. Free parking! Close to freeway. Intermission beverages reasonable. Womens bathroom dated but clean.
Julie Batakis Carroll
Beautiful large theatre, and impressed with how strict their safety protocols are in summer 2022. One star off because some of the worst, distracting audience behavior ever, and no intervention from ushers. Hard to enjoy the show with people behind me carrying on full conversations, arguing about their snacks from the concession stand, and loudly singing along through all 3 hours of Hamilton.
Michael Smegielski Jr
I love what you can see at the Bushnell, not always happy with the seating. I am 6'6", 245 lb older guy and much of the seating is built for people under 6 ft. Legroom is truly an issue in most parts of the hall. However there are locations that will accommodate taller patrons. Call the box office rather than going on line and explain your situation and they will recommend seating.
Chris Thelin
Awesome theater with amazing art deco scenes on the ceiling. We saw Blue Man Group here and loved it. The show went smoothly, the seating was comfortable and had clear views of the stage, and we will definitely be going back.
Barbara Wilson
Beautiful theater. Convenient, free parking, although the spaces were very small and tight.
Sarah Ellis
We experienced The Lion King at The Bushnell and it was awesome! My only criticism was that the seats were cramped. But I'm 6'3 and used to such things. :)
Mark Lillis
The Bushnell is one of the finest auditoriums for its perfect acoustics. The art deco style and huge mural on the ceiling just make this place all the better. There are no bad seats here. Every chair has great site lines to the stage. Parking is free in the monitored lots.
Burt Rubenstein
Comfortable venue with 2 beautiful theaters. Free weekend parking. Hartford Symphony, Broadway road shows, many events.
Rodney Motta - REALTOR
Amazing. Not one bad seat in the theater. Acoustics carry the sound through the whole place. Highly recommend a show!
Chidinma Nze
The orchestra was beautiful, and the theater is a sight to see. A great experience.
Julia Oliveira
Went to see the Bert Kreischer comedy show, was amazing and staff was very professional and nice.
Laura A-O.
Love this place! We come once or twice a year because we love the intimate setting & all Hartford has to offer.
John Solury
Fantastic place for shows and musicals. A must go place.
Nathan Trefethen
Wonderful evening back at the theater! So nice to know that they are taking all the precautions needed to allow safe attendance to the shows. ‘Bands visit’ was a wonderful show with moving songs and heartfelt performances. Interesting cultural exchange that illuminated what is happening around the corner in other parts of the world. BIG shout out to Todd! The theater manager for talking with us and providing so many informative places to see and eat in the city! He is a wealth of info for the production, theater and all about town interests! He made our day and night out a special one and we had a much more enriching experience because of his friendliness and personable nature. Thanks so much to Todd and the Bushnell theater!
Jazz Click
The Bushnell center is a fabulous venue with ample seating, great services, and fantastic entertainment!
Renee Cuprak
What a beautiful venue! It is medium sized so you can see from most seats. The sound system is clear. The seats are 16" wide so don't wear bulky clothes.
Marant Colon
I went to this place for Gilberto Santarosa's concert and I had a great time. Excellent place!

Loved the cast for Hamilton it was the best afternoon I’ve ever had. Thx mom.
Donovan Maguigan
Beautiful venue. Saw Neil Gaiman here. Bar was not overpriced. Parking was a little tricky.
Kathryn Britos
Had a great experience, even in Mezzanine. Loved the Hamilton performance, and was pleased I brought my 8 year old niece to introduce her to the theater!
Linda Earley
Aladdin was simply wonderful. Lots of energy, color and humor
William Mis
Nice venue but the seats are a bit narrow.
Hugo P
Beautiful theater great architecture. Ample parking or Valet. Close to a few restaurants including one next door
Sandi Korte
What a beautiful building! Not a bad seat in the house! The staff was very friendly and super helpful. Free parking right across the street. Very very well run... Would highly recomend! Was back on the highway in a flash... It was a wonderful evening!!
Charlie CharChar
Great theater, parking is always free and it honestly is not that stressful getting in and out. The seats are comfortable and a nice size. The place it self is in great condition overall.
roberta anderson
Saw a wonderful show. Beautiful theater. Be prepared for a lot of stairs, even to get to the bathroom. Free parking.
Brian Smith
Great place for a play/show. Little pricey but still reasonable depending on what your seeing.
Francisco Rivera
It was awesome. Had lots of fun at Gilberto Santa Rosa concert!!
Nicole McAllister
Went to see Dear Evan Hansen and boy what a great show! The storyline was amazing and so relatable to real life situations. The main character had a voice that is like an angel was singing. This was my 5th time going and I always enjoy myself when I am there.
Bill Paglia-Scheff
One of the best theater experiences in CT. Pristine, beautiful, great friendly and helpful service. Just a wonderful place to see any show. We saw The Banmf Flim Festival showing. The sound was a little loud and the speech was not synced with the lips and evidently not fixable as no one did. I think it was a projector or disc issue and not an resolvable issue by the staff. Great experience overall.
len kriegsman
I knew going in I don't like rap but this show was perfect!
perfectly performed, great voices and I learned things I wasn't aware of.
if I wore a hat it would be off!
Emily Murphy
So disappointed. We had seats in the balcony but when we arrived were told it was closed. Had to stand around waiting until they decided where to put us. We got "upgraded" to the mezzanine but it was still hard to see (distance & people in front of us.) It was an hour and half long show with no intermission, we got very thirsty but the concessions were closed.
Michelle A.
My second go to place for good theater! (My first is the Garde Arts Center in NL) You can see from any seat, even though I did get complimentary tickets to see "Rent" opening night and the seats were not very good, when I do purchase my own seats I am in the middle orchestra section, and those seats are great!! Check it out for date night or any night a good play is in town!!! See you there!!!!
Tanya Bigley
It was a wonderful show loved it, the volunteers were so nice
Stephen Foldvary
Great place to see a show. It's a medium size venue so there isn't a bad seat in the house. Plenty of FREE parking right across from the theater and easy access to the highway.
Ken Morris
Love this place!!!! Wonderful customer service for I was not only helped to my seat but helped in opening the app to obtain my ticket and scan my way in, assisted with questions that I had once inside, and thanked for coming to the evenings performance. Communications about the performance came in a very timely fashion and the sight lines inside the feeder were absolutely magnificent. The seats were very comfortable, the bathrooms were clean, and there was an alternative to the elevator on the way up via stairs that I did not mind taking at all. Tons of parking for the evenings performance certainly helped, also, too. Was not very hard getting out at all. Just a few minutes waiting and I was on my way because Bushnell is located very conveniently to major highways. All in all, a magnificent show of Hamilton and excellent evening all around. Thank you, folks, and keep up the great job! Best wishes in the future!

I went to see Dan and Phil for their interactive introvert tour and the staff was not the most helpful when we asked for directions. Other than that the whole place was amazing and I loved the free parking right down the block
Aashna L.K. Davis
Very comfortable seats, and good view of the stage from our seats. Each floor seems to have its own food stand so that was very convenient.
Valerie Shannon
Attended the festival of laughs. Such a beautiful theater. They checked vaccination status and ID's and negative COVID-19 tests - masks kept in during performance. I was comfortable with that - the performers we're all amazing... Staff was really very nice as well. They moved that line very quickly to get us all in...
Robert J Rodgers
We saw the 1903 Circus and thoroughly enjoyed it. The theater is laid out well and plenty of accessible seating.

We saw Hamilton. Easy free parking. Excellent acoustics. Spots to sit while waiting. Overall a great experience.
Theresa Cannavo
We are a group that goes often, it's one of our get together places, very special
Avi Smith-Rapaport
Always a top notch performance without a hitch. Mean girls was a fabulous show. Well executed as usual. Aladin was fun. Many shows yearly
Nefty Morales
Always a pleasure to visit and catch a show. Alladin was awesome .
Trazy B
This is a great time. Only suggestion, revamp the aisles. Seats are way to close together.
Cole von Richthofen
Hartford and Connecticut in general are lucky to have this performing arts institution. Pro tip if you call the box office in advance they occasionally offer discounted rush tickets. I've been going here for many years seeing events from film screenings to musicals, and have loved it every time.
Mars Healey
Went to see Neil Degrasse Tyson. What a great experience!
Brendan Merritt
It's always a joy to visit the Bushnell! My wife and I have been subscribers to their Broadway Series for a few years now, and have greatly enjoyed almost every single show that they have presented. We're so glad that they have finally reopened after the pandemic, and look forward to many more shows. Their masking/vaccination policies are not unbearably burdensome, and most patrons seem to be aware of them and willing to comply.
Christian
Great place for shows. The chairs are comfortable and the spaces between them are decent. Every seat is pretty much a good view. There are also two mezzanines, one being really far back.
The orchestra seating, where I was, is not too close to the stage as it may appear. I was able to still see everything pretty clearly and well.
Great place to go just to go if you have the money and find a show you'd be interested in watching.
Taran K
Great atmosphere, many shows are over priced.
John Schultz
Awesome experience here, took my granddaughter here to see Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire with the Hartford symphony orchestra playing all the music for the movie, my granddaughter is entering fourth grade next year, and this gave her the opportunity to see all the different instruments played, so she could make a better decision as to which instrument she wanted to play (in fourth grade)
Spencer
I saw Hamilton here for the second time, it was great as always!
Vickye Ward-Lee
Congratulations to Brittany and Brendenn Colbert, Beautiful Wedding @ the Bushnell
Lexandra J
Amazing gorgeous space with pleasant and helpful staff and volunteers.
Update: The first time I saw Shen Yun. This time I watched mean girls. Both times the staff was lovely and on point. I appreciate their hard work and small gestures that make the experience that much more fun 😄 Thank you. You made the trip from Brooklyn worth it.
Amy Cap
Lion King is filled with passion, honesty, and life lessons. Talent is beyond expectations, excellent for all ages!
Theresa Lind
The upgrades are great, plenty of bathrooms and sitting areas. Parking is a challenge right now due to construction.
Guillermo Garcia
Amazing performance. Beautiful place. Enjoyed the place lots
NIDAL HAYKAL
Seats are horrible.
Kristin Lundell
Glorious, and has a variety of entertainment from Drag Queens like Katya Zamolochikova, to plays like Circus 1903, to musical explorations like STOMP. A wonderful place to support and enjoy the arts
Tamara Brown
Had a wonderful time! Can't wait to go again.
Randy Voytas
Had a great time listening to the orchestra and watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. It was a really good time and if they do the Half Blood Prince, I would definitely go.
Adam West
This theater is one of the best I have been too. The size is perfect where there is not a bad seat in the place! Also the staff was friendly, easy to navigate within and so comfortable that my 3 year old sat quietly in awe of everything he was seeing. Definitely would attend another event here!
Chet Kokiel
Convenient parking, very friendly and helpful staff, clean restrooms, overall excellent experience
Nate Rimkie
Beautiful theater with an entertaining play to watch.
Bill B
Saw The Lion King. Fabulous show and the Bushnell is beautiful. I like that they offer valet parking.
Michele Fioretti
Nice theater good prices and wonderful plays
Annabels Dad
It's a great place to see theater! I have seen quite a few fantastic Broadway shows.
If you're in the nosebleed sections you will pray that no fat people sit next to you because the seats are ridiculously small
Richard Livingston
My girlfriend and I go there about 4 times a year. Very nice and clean theater, staff is really helpfull. We have seen some incredible plays there. Plenty of parking and usually the dress is casual. I prefer going here instead of the movie theater. Highly recommend.
Craig Bassett
Saw the lion king and it was amazing ! The staff at the Bushnell were very pleasant and helpful looking forward to doing again soon.
Timothy O'Leary
Can’t go wrong with this place. An amazing theater with esthetics that would make your jaw drop. Being going since I was a child. They always bring in the best broadway shows and there isn’t a bad seat in the house. The seats are a little snug for both the tall in height and round in nature. Can’t wait when they open there doors again!
ja arias
Great iconic Hartford building
Lauri Lowell
This is a beautiful performance space! Good acoustics and sight lines. There's a huge open air parking lot across the street - very convenient.
Ron Bouchard
Great performance by the cast of Hamilton. The concessions are expensive, $4 for a bottle of soda, but we don’t have much choice.
Nathan T
The staff here are wonderful. They're always super polite and accommodating. Parking is free for shows here (I hope that never changes!) and they have such a great variety of shows that come through every year. There's a convenient 15-minute parking spot right in front of the box office if you stop by to buy your tickets in person.
David Berthiaume
Fantastic venue to see and hear any kind of musical event. We've seen musicals, plays, and symphony orchestra events and have never been disappointed. Free parking across the street and very easy to get here from Rte 84 and 91, and maybe more importantly, it's easy to get out and back on the highway. All this makes for a very enjoyable experience.
Erich Faust
Went here to see a Sunday matinee of Hello Dolly. Very well done! The actors/actresses were excellent and so were the dance numbers! I also enjoyed watching the orchestra in the pit as they played a perfect show! Looking forward to the next one.
Pavlik Mintz
The theater is beautiful. We enjoyed the show, and appreciated the attention to Covid safety.
Mik Nosmoth
One of the best performing art plays in Hartford Connecticut. Visitors come from New York Massachusetts and more to see these plays. Go enjoy one.
Mia Ginter
AWESOME show!!!! Super funny, great cast!!!
Charles Silvey
This is a beautiful theater right in the heart of the Capitol district of Hartford. Access to the theater is easy from 91 and parking for free around the theater (on most nights) is plentiful. The theater itself is gorgeous inside with a main and balcony section. The theater has a Broadway show series that gets the traveling shows as they come off Broadway or begin touring. The sound and site lines are wonderful and the pitch of the floor makes for the ability to see even with tall people in front of you. The only complaint is the space in the rows. Seats are comfortable but leg room is really tight, think economy on most airlines. Limited snacks and drinks are available for purchase at reasonable prices. Definetly will return for other shows and performances.
ARES
The show was amazing and the Bushnell was well run and organized.
Jim Zilora
Come from Away was awesome! Beautiful facility.
K A
I haven't been to too many shows, just starting my adventure 😁 So without too much to compare to, this theater was clean, had nice auditorium design. I was a little bummed I didn't know until I sat in my seat I'd be watching the understudy perform but he was great! Overall 4 stars. …
Dave Tedder Sr.
Great show wonderful theater
.
Andrew M
Great theater and good views from just about any seat. Very friendly staff and affordable cocktails.
Denise Wilson
Seeing Justice Sonia Sotomayor was a major plus for me and receiving autographed copies of two of her books was the icing on top.
I wish there had been more questions submitted for the Q&A section.
Glendon Barrow
Nice and clean. A stress free environment. The view, sound system, lighting and atmosphere was palatable.
Judy Singer
We saw Hamilton for the first time and we loved it! It was a great production and we had terrific seats .
Aaron Naveh
The place is huge, close to 3000 seats. In good shape and spotless. Access to seats is easy. excellent sound system (though I can't vouch for it's acoustics). However, too large for theater performances (we saw Hamilton) as you can get really far from the stage. Having binoculars was hrlpfull.
Eileen Driscoll
The place is great. They do an excellent job overseeing covid precautions. Was not a fan of The Band's Visit, but the Bushnell is a special and wonderful place to see any type of performance.
thomas kish
Attended a graduation here. Woukd definitely come back to see a show here. The seating is great and the acoustics are phenomal.
Erin LeCain
Love every show. Just go.
Nicole Serra
Such a phenomenal art center. The look and feel are beyond inspirational, in addition too the sound is extremely acoustically perfect and the gleaming stage would make anyone want to dance upon it. Any show would be truly worth while seeing here. Highly recommended.
Marjorie Chapski
The show was delightful, but the seats are VERY small. I admit that I am a larger woman, but not so large that I can't sit comfortably in other venue's. I was very disappointed with paying so much for a seat and having to stand for the 2nd half of the performance.
The staff was pleasant.
BessieMaeLou Bell
What is there not to love about The Bushnell? It is old and beautiful. There are a lot of stairs and limited special parking, but the venue is beautiful. They have huge parking lots across the street, so if you do not have issues with mobility, parking is not a problem. I attended a graduation there, and had it not been for the rude security employee at the end, it would have been a five star experience. Even with the crowd; the ushers, elevator operator, the guides, they were excellent. Every employee that I encountered up until the end, they were very patient and professional.
Ian Seidner
Love this space, love the place! Makes me feel like I'm back home in the Manhattans theater 🎭 district! Also, they have a great selection of different events from orchestral replays of movie music set to the actual movie to off Broadway shows of the highest caliber.
Just saw Hamilton there and it was PHENOMENAL!
Tom Rametta
Simply an amazing venue. Courteous help at every single turn. Literally. Bottom of the stairs top of the stairs, at the end of each aisle, you can't walk more than 15 ft in any direction without getting help. The architecture and gold leaf is amazing.
Acoustics are very good.
Harrison Kanarick
The show I saw, who's live anyway was great! The people working there were nice too. But there was no room at all for your legs since mine were squished to the seat in front of me. I'm only six feet!
christina costa
Love to see shows here. The only problem is the seats are tight and if someone is tall in front of you it's hard to see. It's very clean inside and out. The staff are wonderful, very helpful. Some shows can be pricey. Nice place to go for some culture and something to do.
Artur Ulatowski
Visited for a musical/theatrical show.
The sound engineers should take more time before the show to get the sound straight.
Seating was also little bit not optimal and of someone tall sat in front of you you might have to sit crooked for the whole show. Could use steeper angle on the rows.
Other than that it was nicely appointed and clean.
Easy to find and plenty of event parking
Wade Anderson
This is a huge theater, saw a Broadway show from the balcony; quite a distance to see the actors but the sound system is good so hearing was not a problem. Easy parking, good restaurants in the area--it was a fun night out.
Mary Olivieri
The production quality of the play was great. The theater is extremely beautiful however I was playing head Dodge all play with the person in front of me. They would move one way and I would have to move the opposite so I could still see the play. The seats could use updating. My mom experienced the same thing. It took away from the fun of the play and the beauty of the theater. We saw "The Wizard of Oz".
Ted G
I have never been to the Bushnell and I was quite impressed. It is a very nice facility, the main body of the theatre looks to be 1930's style with lots of art deco all over the place. The lounge on the second floor was also quite impressive with lots of ornate woodwork and carvings. The new section of the building had a distinctively 1980's feel in design but it was showing odd new carpet that gave it a today feel. Overall if there was an event that I was interested in here I would attend.
Tim Dolan
Vaccination cards required as well as masks. Clean coming out of hibernation mode but fully up to speed.
And the show was enjoyed by all is seemed.
Jay Morales Sr.
Saw the lion king, it was fun and brought back memories. Staff was great and helpful.
John Hicks
Show was good. The theater was beautiful. Parking was not that great.
KATHY FLETCHER
The nusic and costumes were fabulous.
K. Uncasville Ct

Beautiful theater, especially enjoyed the gorgeous lighting and ceiling in the Mortensen Hall. Staff is friendly. Concessions are very pricey, and tickets to events seem to be more expensive than other venues. They offer free parking for most events, but be ready to get stuck for 30 minutes trying to leave the lot since they do not direct traffic.
Christopher Miller
The performance was great. The quality of the sound was not great
Marla Darius
We watched a ballet that was very unique. The ballet company performed several different styles of ballet, then at the end had time for Q & A with the audience to explain the choreography, styles and inspiration. It was a nice performance and a fun night. The Bushnell staff is always kind and helpful. I enjoyed my time here with family.
Sandy
Saw Cats.....it was amazing. The building is beautiful.
Andrew Russell
Beautiful space. We had a blast performing here. What a good time.
Joyce Ferony
We have had season tickets here for many years. Broadway quality performances in a beautiful theater. There is a Nice coffee bar with food available before the shows. My daughter and I adore it here.
Natalie Shaw
We saw The Lion King and it was fantastic. Plenty of close, free parking. Souvenirs, food, and drinks were available before the performance and during intermission. However, the tickets were generated randomly online, and could not seat all of us together. Also the seating is cramped with little leg space; hoped to avoid this by purchasing the more expensive orchestra seats but did not work out as planned.
William Slattery
Wonderful place for a show! I've seen many performances here, always a pleasure.
Darryl Vanover
As a venue I'd say the bushnell is middle of the road. The acoustics aren't great, the seats get very uncomfortable as the show goes on, there's no leg or elbow room to speak of and the temperature can be stifling when the place is filled to capacity as it was during my recent visit. It's really unfortunate because it's the closest place for me to see Broadway shows but being uncomfortable greatly detracts from the reason I'm there. It's a beautiful theater and the staff are friendly and helpful and they do get a great lineup up of shows every year.
Carol Hoyer
Earlier saw Blue Man Group. Interactive and engaging. I always have a good experience here and plan to come often as possible!
Mariah Ardisson (Mini)
I always love coming here for shows! It's a beautiful theater with good free parking!
Devin Brown
Great venue to see some great touring shows!
edward visconti
Been a season ticket holder for many years, great venues with quality acts...
Mark Gabriel
The HSO is such a gem we can call our own. I was so glad to get out there with the family for the Christmas show this past weekend. I'm still ear to ear with my smile.
The staff was great, and the room is stunning.
Keith Silliman-Matthews
This is a beautiful theater with fantastic acoustics and friendly staff.
Alison Bennett
I've been to about a dozen shows at The Bushnell and have never had a single complaint. First of all, the quality of every theater performance I've seen is on par with broadway. Also the facility is clean, and well laid out- the seats are clearly marked. There is also free parking across the street from the theater which is fantastic for the theater being in the middle of a city. If you can't see a show on broadway I would recommend seeing if the show is coming to the Bushnell, many times show tour there.
Maggie Corey
All of the staff was so helpful and kind the show was hreat and the seats were comfy
calvin deBourbon
Took my very young daughter to the live action paw patrol event. She had an absolute blast! The facility was very clean and the staff professional and gave great direction. My only concern was the parking where I had wished someone was directing traffic was stuck for an hour, pay for parking
James Doten
Didn't think it was for me but thouroly enjoyed it!
Corey B
I saw Video Games Live here, and the show was amazing, and the theatre is gorgeous, but the seats OMG. I am 5'10 and could not actually sit in the seat, except with legs turned, but that led to bruises on either side of my thighs. I had to sit on the seat up in order to not be in extreme pain. I will most likely not return to see a show here, only for the seat problem.
We were in the mid-balcony area, not sure if the seats in orchestra are more comfortable or not, but be forewarned tall or slightly wide people, you will be in pain.
Dave Sundlof
Fantastic venue.
Excellent staff.
We attended Hamilton-What a performance!
Robert G.
Been here numerous times over my life. Going tonight to see the ski movie Warren Miller Productions. Beautiful place to visit. Miss the organist that use to play. He was really really good!
Adam Forstrom
The venue itself is very nice, we've seen several shows there. Parking is an absolute crapshow if it's anything popular, and if you sit in the balcony they make you wait in a ridiculous line before being allowed to go upstairs and find your seat. Apparently they don't let you up there more than half an hour prior to the show start because reasons, so you can wander around other mildly less crowded areas, but not sit down as soon, or wait in a line that isn't a line as people come from all directions and just mosey in front of people who got there first. What an unnecessary mess. This stuck in my mind despite seeing an AWESOME show
Andrea Bedell
This is a very nice place to attend concerts. The parking is located across the street from the performance center. The area is well lighted and you will have plenty of parking for any event. Inside the Bushnell the seating is very close to one another so be mindful if you are attending an event you will be shoulder to shoulder with other attendees.
Michael Wolftrand
I have been here countless times for different events and all of them have been enjoyable. The staff has always been friendly and helpful, and the sound has been perfect (to me, though I am not a sound engineer). The forum events are always interesting and entertaining! Easy parking and reasonably priced beverages. Will come back to the Bushnell as often as possible.
Elizabeth Vanover
Have seen many shows here over the years. A beautiful venue in Hartford with easy access to dining within walking distance. Ample parking directly across the street. Only negative is the seating is very tight and not very comfortable, especially during a long performance.
Aidan Butler
Beautiful theater. My wife and I used to go to NY 1-2 times per year to catch a show on Broadway, but we have a 1yr old now, so it's tough to get time away. We've been to the Bushnell several times in the past year and I'm surprised every time. If you enjoy the theater and don't feel like blowing an entire weekend and $1k, consider the Bushnell.
Dominique Ojoe
It a beautiful theater but the seats are not for tall people
Bryan Kelly
Every visit to the Bushnell is like going back in time to a bygone era. Nobody said you had to put on the Ritz and dress to the mines to enjoy a show there, but it's nice to. A beautiful venue that gets top notch performances each and every season without having to go to NYC or Boston is a real treat.
It is steeped in legacy and is a real pride of Hartford. Catching a matinee and then strolling Bushnell Park is something in which dreams are made. The staff is always pleasant. The food, drinks, and service provided by Max's Catering is second to none.
Be sure to check out there website and see what shows are playing. Even if you are only in town for the weekend, make it a point to take in the historic beauty and ambiance of The Bushnell.
Paul Swift
Bushnell Theatre. Productions Always a class Act. JOE BONAMASSA. did not. disappoint. INCREDIABLE. 🎸 IST...BLUES,JAZZ, THE DUST BOWL. HIS NEW ALBUM. CLASS BAND BEHIND HIM. WITHOUT A DOUBT ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS IN A LONG TIME. MOVE OVER CLAPTON, THERE IS A NEW SHERIFF IN EVERY TOWN ACROSS WORLD. …
Angela White
It's a lovely place with good accoustics.
Steve Buckley
Aside from a fire alarm going off and having to clear the building just before the show, the venue and staff were awesome.
Kathy Engle-Dulac
What a beautiful theater! The seats are actually comfortable. The sound crew does a VERY good job. The show...ah, the show! I was able to see RENT and it was really a great time. Thank you, Bushnell!
Mike S
Beautiful theater. Parking wasnt horrible. They usually have a great selection of plays/musicals. I always enjoy. Only negative it how close the seats are. If you have long legs like me it can get quite uncomfortable if you dont pick the right spot.
Lauren D.
Sat on the balcony, center front row, for a comedy show and had a great view. The theatre is clean. The only thing to be aware of is that the seats are very tight together so be prepared to touch thighs with the person next to you.
Scott A Switzer
I work here. Nice theater 😊 …
Richard and Nancy Austermann
Come From Away was a beautiful show. Love being able to see shows like this at this grand theater with plenty of free parking, then heading home. So lucky to have The Bushnell so close.
Looking forward to The Sound of Music later in May.
Denise Heatley
Have been there for 2 different shows (Lion King and Wild Kratts Live) and both times I was pleased with the seating and courtesy of the staff. The drinks at the Max bar were a bit expensive, but the drinks were nice and strong so I didn't feel like I was cheated.
Ami Overton
Wonderful show
Julie Christianson
Beautiful theatre. No terrible seats, though some are certainly better than others. Friendly ushers and great performances. The shows in the Broadway series are always stunning.
Michael Moore
A wonderful atmosphere for entertainment in Downtown Hartford.
Tatiana Ospina
As beautiful as the Bushnell is. I couldn't see over the people that were in front of me and there are no speakers towards the back of the theatre and I could not here anything. For all the money you pay for a seat it's not worth it if you can't see or here. It's the luck of the draw unfortunately when it comes to the seating. Just pray for a small person in front of you!
Tim Malone
They have some good shows, but the layout of this place is terrible. Why do they have the ticket booth in a separate building that is only connected via a single entrance? For large events, it becomes a bottleneck. I'm sure they have their reasons.
The theater is nice though. I haven't gotten a bad seat yet.
Chris Petersen
Saw The Lion King here as well as many other shows. Great performances, beautiful building. It's not Broadway quality, but then again, it's not Broadway prices either. Well worth catching a show here.
Armando Jimenez
Love Time 🫶🏻🥰✅💕☺️🎉🍾💌 love NYC 🗽 …
Dave Sprowson
Fantastic performances, great acoustics, and great seating throughout. But the overall building layout is in dire need of being updated. You may find yourself going up and down flights of stairs just to find the restrooms and some stairwells do not connect to the rest of the building.
Nancy Symski
Went to see Hamilton touring at the Bushnell. The musical was of course great, my daughter and I had already listened to the soundtrack enough to know it by heart, but seeing it was really special. I love old buildings, and it is great when they are maintained so well they retain the awesome details that make them as fabulous of an experience as when they were new. Bravo Bushnell!!
Mya Melody
Went to see Hamilton and was just amazed. We had really far seats from the stage and it was still really amazing.
Tamera Holmes
Left early because we were bored. The people in the play did as good as they could, but felt it lacked entertaining plot. It was ok.
Jeanene Violante
Aladdin was awesome, what a great performance
Chris Stagg
Great show but you always seem to be far away from the stage (We were fifth row first mezzanine) The theater is very long and narrow. I enjoyed the show even though I was far away but I did notice it.
Trazy B
Wonderfully antiquated. A great night out at the theater. The acoustics are beautiful. The only thing I would re-vamp are the seats. To cramped. You know the new generation is wider and taller.
Anita Kulakowski
Whether it's seeing a ballet, show or concert, everything is better at a grand theater, such as the Bushnell. The classic grandeur and sophistication of this timeless theater makes me nastolglic for a slower time. It always makes me happy to see families come together for an event here.
BeBePewDiePie BeBePewDiePie
Saw "The Lion King" here, and thought I was skeptical I would like the production due to the fact I am in my 30's, to my delight the show was GREAT !!! See a show here 4 a good night out. Good seats 2 a popular show can sometimes be pricey, so you have been warned ... ☺👍👍 …
Chris Rudolph
Great historical theater with incredible art deco ceiling. Top level talent and productions. Shows are back. Each production can decide if masks are to be worn.
Janet DeGreenia
Saw Hamilton. Venue was clean organized and plenty of food and drink service areas. Always a nice experience.
Junito
Hamilton show was great, theatre sound was poor. We sat in the mezzanine and at times couldn't make out what the actors were saying due to the low sound. Possibly poor speaker angling or lack of speakers. I overheard the people sitting behind and in front complain as well.
Heather Van Voorhis
Beautiful venue! Seating is amazing. Handicapped accessible. Handicapped friendly. Great free parking!
Holly Marczak
Wonderful performance, but not for young children, like the one who kicked my seat repeatedly, talked and cried continously and wouldn't stay seated throughout the 2 1/2 show. This parent would have done all a service to leave a 3 year old home.
Kelly Milam
Excellent place to see a concert. People were extremely nice. Easy in and easy out.
christopher hall
First time at this venue. Very easy to access it from the highway, avoiding city driving. Parking is in large outdoor lots a very short walk from the Auditorium. Then very easy to get back on the highway to home. There is a huge stupendous glass creation by Dale Chihuly hanging from the ceiling in the adjacent lobby!
Stately building and interior. Joe Bonamassa (the performer) commented that there were 3,000 people there, although it felt more intimate. 600+ stairs to the balcony - Keep that in mind if you need to wait for the elevator.
Frank O.
A great theatre. The size, the building, it's grand. The staff is polite, helpful & affable. We make the trip from NYC to see its great & various shows, from broadway to movies w/ symphony accompaniment, it's worth the trip.
Phillip McGhan
I've enjoyed every performance I have seen here. The seat run on the smaller side but not too uncomfortable. I've always been able to see the stage from any seat I've been in.
Andrew Graceffa
Gorgeous theater for a performance. Great acoustics and sight lines.
Victoria Schulz
Went to see a live orchestra to a Harry Potter movies and it was flawless. I've never seen a bad performance at the Bushnell and encourage everyone to see events there. I prefer sitting in the orchestra middle area for performances, but the front mezz has great seating as well.
Luis Barriento
I visit once in a while for years. The theater is getting renovations and it get better and better....
Jeanette A.
Beautiful venue and even if you end up in the way back, like I tend to, you still get a great view. Bonus to the nosebleed section? You can see all of the cool art on the ceiling way better.
Sabrina
Beautiful hall, really. Sound was great. We saw Patti Smith, lots of old people (including me) dancing. And easy, free parking right across the street.
J Harkes
I saw Hamilton and Fiddler On The Roof at the Bushnell. I appreciated the feeling that you get when you walk through those doors and the crowd moves as they travel to their seats. There is a sense of history. You move quickly past security which is good. The older demographic means you will probably wait for the elevator which can be frustrating if your seats are mezz or balcony. If youre tall it can be a little cramped but basically comfortable. The staff is very helpful which is great.
Cindy Perry
What a beautiful historical theatre!!! 1st parking was free! They also have valet parking for 12dollars.We were greeted by the ushers and very well organized manner.Great view of the show from the mezzanine.they offer a happy hour just before the show.We exited the parking lot with out the trama of a traffic jam because they opened at least 4 exits in different directions. So well organized we loved the little sandwich shop that also have wine ANF beer. Can't wait for my next show at this Hartford Treasure.
Christopher Behrens
Great venue fur seeing shows. Easy to get to. Easy convenient parking. Easy to get into the theater and easy to leave again. Easy access for handicapped. Coat check and snack stands with alcohol available.
Zoe
This was a amazing experience when I was watching Hamilton I would definitely go there again to see something else
Day Late Gamer With Will
Very expensive drinks, beautiful interior, seating is a bit antiquated but over-all a great night out
Art Diamond
Saw Hamilton. Due to COVID-19 concerns everyone wore masks. Performance met all expectations
Margaret McCaig
Reading past reviews , and yes the seats were a little close but not uncomfortable. We saw Love Letters with Ryan Oneill and Ali McGraw and it was wonderful. Will definitely go back! The only negative thing I have to say is about the audience members who left their playbills lying on the floor. It would have been nice of them to not leave such a mess for the staff to clean up.
Monique Teal
Some friends and I went there to see STOMP. It was great. The seating was a little tight in the balcony but as you get closer to the stage it widens. Prices are as expected (pricey)when going to see a show but all in all very nice.
Tony Coppola
Saw Steve Martin and Martin Short. Very funny show. Bought water bottles for$3, very reasonable. Seats were in mezzanine, they were okay. Parking was free but tough to get out after the show.
Kelly Pinkerton
American Girl Live was an excellent production! Very inspirational, great music, and the chance to meet the actresses after the show made the evening over the top for my girls. Thanks for bringing it to Hartford!
Felix Morales
Had a great time like always !! Who's line was absolutely hilarious, love every minute of it , huge fan of the show by the way I've seen every season. You guys are awesome keep doing what you do Connecticut THANKS YOU 👍👍👍👍🤣😂 …
Dave Coles
Black Violin concert at the Bushnell! Must see next time they come to Hartford!
Clari Rodriguez
Love the shows ...Beautiful place
Yvonne Fontanez
As a venue, everything seamless, organized and professional as usual
James Murch Eschert
Beautiful theater. We saw Camelot here and sat in the Mezzanine. The chart when we ordered online was deceptive because it showed us unobstructed first row but actually the whole loge was in front of us - quite a disappointment. Also it is a huge theater - really too big when compared with the typical broadway venue. I would avoid anything higher than the front of the mezzanine.
Gerry Ayotte
Patti Smith was awesome last night! She's still a great performer with a unique style and knows how to get the crowd on their feet. All her classics, Because the Night, Dancing barefoot, Twenty Fifth floor ....
Mark Haley
Bushnell Performing Arts it's always a pleasant place to visit. Despite the age of the building it has been kept in excellent condition. The staff, in my experience, is always helpful and considerate of patrons in attendance at the shows and events that are held at the Bushnell.
Larry Vigil
Need more vending machines. Line had to be cut off and many only wanted water. Bathroom lines are a joke. I would wish for larger or more bathrooms, the space is the. A little renovation. The Lion King was incredible, I highly recommend.
Judy Gil
Great musical performance ruined by rude patrons on phones constantly texting and videotaping despite announcement stating not allowed. Ushers were told and nothing really enforced by them. Probably will not attend ever again.
debs giliberto
I always enjoy the Bushnell. Easy parking, nice volunteers, good show productions.
Security has been tightened up and you have to pass through metal detectors and bag check (so no more bringing in your own bottle of water).
Prices of drinks and snacks are HIGH though. So be prepared for that if you that kind of stuff. (Wine is $11, small 8oz bottle of soda $4, water $4, box candy was $4).

Saw the Hartford Symphony Orchestra
perform the score to the Star Wars film a New Hope. The were so excellent. What a wonderful way to make the Symphony relatable to an audience they might never see otherwise. Plan to buy tickets for Harry Potter April 6 2019.
John Loughran
Wonderful arts and venue!
kathy hayes
Gorgeous venue. Staff was very helpful. Hamilton was fantastic!
Raye Barbieri
Lovely setting and enjoyable play - covid protocols all in place and smooth as silk with the friendliest most helpful staff and volunteers anywhere!
Nicole Braun
Hamilton lived up to the hype it was made out to be. Voices amazing, lyrics awesome, choreography just so on point. I wanna know more about the man who wrote this piece. He is a genius.
A H
We saw Dear Evan Hansen here. The theater is beautiful and parking is free.
Mark Glass
A wonderful gem of a space; beautiful, amazing accoustics and history.
Word of caution, the balcony seats are smaller than the orchestra section. Big & tall will not be comfortable up there.
Dolores Cahill
Every time I see a performance I am impressed. I take every opportunity to enjoy the excellent programing offered by the Bushnell. Their Christmas concert and performances are exceptional.
William Welch
Beautiful theater with great acoustics. Some of the seating further back in the mezzanine and balcony sections aren't great for stage shows though. Free parking is a plus.
Jeffry Nieves Wood
I saw the Bianca Del Rio: Not Today Satan comedy show here. The seats were cramped, but the staff was very helpful. They showed us to our seats, and they were quick to answer questions.
Noreen Calgreen
Wonderful experience seeing the Harry Potter movie with the music being played by the Hartford Symphony Orchestra
Stephanie DelValle
Staff was wonderful and they were on point with getting everyone in and seated exactly on time.
Laurie M
Great experience at the 03-16-2022 Bonamassa show. Smooth logistics, great staff, helpful volunteers.
John
Great facilities and easy accessibility with a large parking lot across the street. The ushers and staff were incredibly friendly and helpful
Amy Tran
Beautiful building. All seats are a great view
Jeff Bassett
Always love coming to the Bushnell! Also love the Warren Miller ski movies.
Rahul K
Enjoyed live performance here.
Jonathan Lee Anderson
This art-deco masterpiece is a joy to sit in--regardless of what you are there to see. It truly is a gem within Hartford. The volunteers are polite and expedient. If you are over 6 feet tall, the seats will be cramped, but this will not deter me from going back in the future.
Samantha Sullivan
Super Clausterphobic in here! Only one elevator or you can take the 10 flights of stairs to get the balcony seats. You are like right on top of the row on front of you and the ceiling is like a foot above your head. A literally had a panic attack when I finally got to my seat. I could barely see the stage. Though there is limited space, i still feel as though they could rearrange to make it more comfortable. The building is cool and historic I guess, butbi am in no rush to return.
Jim Messina
Beautiful venue with great accoustics!
Ushers were a bit gruff but cut them some slack since they have to remind people about masking.
Mark Wolfe
We saw Joe Bonamassa there and it was a wonderful concert. Looking forward to the next event at the Bushnell
Senthil Kumaran
I’d been twice to this theatre. The seats are comfortable, audio quality is amazing. Both programs were well organized, I just love this place, no complaints.
David Gerrol
The Belden has excellent acoustics and very comfortable seating. There's not a bad seat in the house. I much prefer it to the older, but beautiful, Bushnell theater.
Diane Cardella
Beautiful theatre, convenient parking, good accoustics. Very little leg room in balcony seats. $4 for a small bottle of water!
Sheila Riley
Fantastic venue. Very safe covid protocols.
Free secure parking across the street.
Rick Rabe
We attended a wonderful concert of Ladysmith Black Mambazo. The hall is great for acoustics. Be sure to empty your pockets of things like pocket knives or you'll end up running back to you car.
Jorge Prieto
Our Daughter brought us to see The Lion King, is was surprisingly entertaining and it had it's hilarious moments. A very nice experience, defetely a must do.
S D (Sdn)
Some of the seats are not comfortable.
Peter Tuccitto
The security check lines moved quickly. The theater is very ornate and brings you back to a time long past. We went Fiddler on the roof and it was terrific!!!
Steve W
Really nice place, just surprised that the bar closes during the show...
Stephen Kriksciun
Just recently saw The Lion King here and it was unbelievable! Amazing actors Amazing Music a truly historic venue in Connecticut and Hartford specifically. We'll go there again!
James Kasdorf
Excellent venue, free parking across the street, comfortable bar for pre-concert libations.
Suzanne Graceffa
Easy parking, great options for dinner nearby, and show was fabulous.
Maya Burlingham
Great venue, free parking. Just wish the bar inside offered more bar atmosphere other than cafeteria's. Time to serve wine on a real glass!
David Karpinski
First time saw Shan Yu Chinese dancing and performing arts had great seats saw everything at the stade very clean great place to see parking was easy can't wait till next year to see the new show
Josh Caruso
Well done at the Bushnell! Great show!
Denise Primus
Luv seeing shows here. Really enjoyed the Lion King!!! Pre show happy hour drinks are the best BBC they are half the price outside
Steven Durst
The Bushnell is a great place to enjoy a concert, play or other live performance. The surroundings are elegant, the seating is comfortable, the acoustics are excellent and the views of the stage are very good, even from the mezzanine.
Chuck Weiss
The show we saw was packed, but the venue was well prepared to handle it. Interesting decor, lighting, and architecture. The location is within walking distance of great restaurants and a museum
Adrian Wolski
Great place to enjoy some beautiful music of the classical composers. The masterworks series are second to none in the state of Connecticut. Highly recommend this venue to anyone who values the classical music.
Ken E
Saw Hamilton before Christmas. Great show and wonderful environment. Recommend going early and having brunch, lunch or dinner before your show. Many choices. In par with Broadway.
Bob Norton
Leslie Odem, Jr with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra was excellent. The venue (larger of two halls) was just about full, but the Bushnell had plenty of staff there to help. Great evening.
David Gay
Sad how there were no police in the area when we got out. The Bushnell is beautiful, though! Tight seats & the view isn't great from every one of them, but we loved seeing the Lion King there!
Alexander Luna
Went to watch the comedy from my peeps in PR... Los Trapos Sucios lol it was great and the hall was beautiful all around
enrique ochoa
We love the Orchestra performance, the Cirque du Soleil show is mesmerizing. The shows are slightly different every year and the music sounds pretty awesome!
Chris Chorney
Its got history, class, good sight lines and great acoustics.
Amy Johnson
We went to see Illuminate. What can anyone say that isn't great about The Bushnell. All staff, ushers etc., are helpful and friendly. I finally got to see the glass sculpture on the 3rd floor. Pictures attached.
Marga Matheny
I was invited by friends to the symphony here. Acoutics were spectacular. The atmosphere was electric. I used to live in Connecticut. Now I remember how much I loved it here! SUCH CULTURE!
Betmarie Calixto
When I was in elementary school I sang in choir. THE best part of that was joining with all the other schools in the state to perform at the Bushnell. It was an amazing experience made only better by having my mom there. I knew exactly where she was in the packed audience when the stage rose ( top balcony to the right from my vantage point). Puerto Ricans are loud if not anything else! Watching the Nutcracker ballet there is so beautiful as well. You know that with every performance no matter the type there is a level of professionalism that is matched by very few - from the performers to the ushers. Love the Bushnell!!!!
Craig Gemmell
Awesome show! One of the best I've seen in a long time.
Steven Baily
The atmosphere was perfect the production value of Swan Lake was second to none and it's easy to get to. Parking wasn't a challenge for us but may be for others as parking is sparse in this area of Hartford.
Arthur Dutra III
Beautiful art deco theater. Well maintained, offering first rate shows and performances, excellent acoustics. Free parking close to theater. Plenty of restaurants with a short walk.
Hollie Sabetta
Besides false advertising craft beer sampling, it was a lot fun to visit and see Face of Winter, Warren Miller
Denise Chavez
The Bushnell is the larger venue; be sure to pay the money for better seats; The Belding Center is smaller, acoustically superior, any seat will do! Parking on Premises a huge plus! Skip the snack bar before the show....
Sue Hough
The Tribute Band sounded just like the Beatles, especially Paul. The second half was strange with all the psycodelic period of the Beatles
Skip Koszalka
What a great show. Glenn Miller Orchestra was excellent. The Bushnell is a wonderful venue. A bit pricey but still worth it.
Lindsay Delviscio
Had a work event and the Bushnell in September and everything was great. The food, facility, and staff were all amazing. I would definitely consider using this venue in the future for other events.
Allen Marko
Saw Dear Evan Hansen. Great show and the sound was really crisp this time.
Russell Ford
Great place to see a play. Beautiful venue, super easy parking and the neighborhood has some great restaurants you can walk to/from. Has made for several great night's out.
Julie Nelson
Venue needed additional staff. Patrons waited in long lines for coffee, water and adult beverages. This resulted in many patrons entering the theater after the show had started. Location of cafes and bathrooms are at odds with each other. Layout needs rethinking.
Mike Murphy
The building was beautiful. Great seats in the balcony section and probably not a bad seat in the place. Small concession stand sold beer and wine and snacks
Heidi Carignan
I drove my daughter and her friend to hartford to see the Dan and phil show at the Bushnell. The Bushnell had a lot of information on their site about parking and area attractions. I was pleasant surprised to find that I got parking on the street close to the venue. While they had info about city garage parking they didn't list addresses of those garages and I couldn't find an address on the hartford website. But, as I said, I was able to park on the street. I never went in the theater, just took the girls to the entrance and my friend and I went to dinner and we picked the girls up the door. The girls had a great time.
Michael Bushey
Plenty of parking the show was great.
You must place to see a Broadway show.
Drew College
Overall Great theater! Amazing shows, seats are good size, staff is friendly. Would recommend for any show!
T J
Incredibly large venue. Saw the color Purple in balcony seating. The play was amazing but I wouldn't recommend the nose bleeds.
Dale Ianni
I just saw Cats. It's a great venue overall. The seats in the Orchestra section agree comfortable and roomy but the seats in the Mezzanine section not so much.
Liz Nichols
Saw Hamilton for the second time. The play was just as good as it was in NYC. The seats are set too close. Good thing the play was so amazing I didnt have time to think how closed in I felt
J Riz
Seats are WAY to close together .. the heat in the mezzanine was unbearable ! I was sticking to the person next to me ! If the fees we pay don't go toward AC ?!? Won't go back unless they renovate. Not with the price to feel uncomfortable for 3 hours
Cheryl Winegar
Excellent experience. AZ was amazing. Food and drinks were amazing. Definitely going back.
Albie Snyder
Awesome theater. Beautiful ceiling and staff are friendly. And whenever I go there's always a trumpet player playing outside.
Nick Bennett
Classy, cheaper than Broadway, good lineup of shows, and local for us Connecticut people. The staff has always been professional and helpful.
Vicktoria Kondracki
Always an adventure and amazing sounds in the theater.. I love enjoyed every show I've ever seem there.. 5 stars.
AnnaMary Lana
The 9/11 tribute was so moving. Portland High School singers were wonderful.
Rainer Schrom

Two large theatres and some ballrooms.
There was free parking across the street.
Megan Williams
Had a christmas party here and it was a beautiful space. There was lots of room for dancing and a huge dining room table. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful as well.
Melissa Fitzgerald
Very nice place, staff was very helpful and friendly.
Laura Jasak
I forgot how much I love the theater I haven't been since I was a little girl!
Christina Guadalupe Cruz
Always a positive experience here. Music was fantastic and the Orchestra is very entertaining. The theater itself is beautiful!
Jorge Gallo
Although a bit tough to navigate for bathrooms and cocktails during intermission, the Bushnell is an elegant classic theater and hosts a variety of performances that includes their "Broadway Series" bringing some of the most popular shows to the Hartford Region.
Scott Grant
Excellent Celtic Thunder Concert. Great view of the stage and sound was fantastic. Comfortable seats. Helpful staff.
Tracy Calloway
The Bushnell theater is one of hartford's Premiere landmarks. The architecture is stunning and there are several different theaters. Parking can be a bit tricky but always guarantee a fun time there
Emma MacDonald
Beautiful theatre, many amazing performances!
Marty Zase
The place is spectacular. The sound system was excellent. And the Carole King musical was names correctly: "Beautiful'.
Scott Johnson
Went there for the Banff mountain movie festival. Got seats in the balcony...had a hard time reading g the subtitle on the screen. Other than that the venue was great
Krystiana kryztastrophe
really cool atmosphere in the theatre. lobby can use some updating, nonetheless great place for events! lots of space
Jason Brzozowski
I loved the performance! Amazing! As I remembered it on YouTube perfectly!
Dianne Doyle
We loved the play but Bushnell is not a comfortable place to go to. Seats are small and area between rows is too tight. One small elevator to get to balcony.
Saudia B.
Love this theatre. The seat space is tight but every show I've seen there was beautiful.
Darren Lowe
Bushnell is a beautiful theater to enjoy Nutmeg's Nutcracker. Very excited. Such a nice small theater without feeling crammed in.

david sheppard
Beautiful theatre, first trip to an opera, re-opening night - Die Fledermaus!
Jim P
Great place to see a show. Easy parking at the capital on the weekends. Seats are a little tight if you’re tall.
Maria S. Zmijewski
The performance was amazing the staff was very very organized and helpful and friendly but we were in the balcony and the seating was terrible for a two-and-a-half-hour show and too close together no ability to even move your feet and on top of it off hot as hell
rachael frank
Nice event space, small happy hour before the show we went to, easy parking across the street, and mostly friendly staff.
Cheryl Rice
Enjoyed the show very much but don't feel things are properly marked. Very confusing to find your way around unless you keep asking the staff.
Peter Black
Seating is garbage. If you are over 6' tall this may not be the place for you. I loved the show. Drinks are over priced.
cecilia meehan
Hartford Symphony Orchestra at the Bushnell playing Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was AMAZING! They played flawlessly for almost 3 hours. A special event.
