So awesome...it definitely could use some updates and up keep in the lobby area. The show was awesome. The theater part looked great. Everyone was nice. They will insist you wear a mask regardless of vaccination the whole time you're within the building. I really like the drinking fountain. We saw Shakespeare in love.

We were fortunate that the Grand Rapids Civic Theater has a production of School of Rock going while we were in town. We were able to get tickets and enjoyed and amazing show. The kids in the production were absolutely amazing. I wish we lived closer so that we could see all the productions they present. The theater is classic yet updated with all the best production equipment.

I knew the musical, Once on this Island as a teenager when we did it over 20 years ago. What this cast did was so amazing and beautiful. I haven't seen a live performance in over 10 years and I took my 8 year old. It was her first experience seeing a live performance and she wants to go to more. Your cast was so exceptional. I am so happy this was her first experience in theatre. Such talent ❤️ Thank you to the cast and crew.

I just wanted to take a moment and recognize some fantastic customer service. We had some things happen in our personal life, causing us to miss our date for Mary Poppins. Once we realized we missed the show, they helped us refund the tickets and we were able to get tickets for another day. My husband loves Mary Poppins and is excited.

I am a transgender female, I went there last night I was treated very kindly. I personally felt safe to be there and watch the show. The show was called "Once on This Island" and was absolutely beautiful. At the end everyone watching gave the amazing actors, actresses, and crew a standing ovation. Highly recommend to go to a play at the Civic Theater if your in GR or visiting the area and they have a Play going on.

Looks bigger than it really is, but seats were comfortable. Hosts revolving plays ranging from children friendly to adult only. We went to Avenue Q a while back and it was a great evening. Very funny show and good performance. Right downtown so it's an easy walk to several eateries or bars after a show if you want a full evening out. Depending on the show recommended dress is semiformal to nice casual.

TMR studios

A very quaint, vaudeville style theatre. You can tell they have put quite a bit of work into the restoration and upkeep of this historic theater. They even have old photos up of previous productions that have been on stage there. Overall, very clean but the rows of seats are a bit tight together.

The seating and theater is a bit dated but still nice, however it does get really cold. I recommend layering up during the winter. The shows are beautiful with amazing talents. Definitely worth a trip.

GRPS second graders got to see "Dragon's Love Taco's" one year ago and new second graders got to see "Elephant and Piggie." So proud of our scholars and they gave it 5 stars saying they'd love to go again some time!

Attended The Little Mermaid performance. First time in this theater (new to City). Did not know what to expect. The performance, a musical really, was SUPERB! Very high caliber. There was a live orchestra. The restored, we'll maintained theater was very nice. The volunteers we're courteous and helpful. This was a family event with many kids in attendance with their parents. They were dressed up and we'll behaved. I was concerned there for a minute. Needn't have been. Parking was easy. Just around the corner. Looking forward to the next performance. Did I mention that tickets were reasonably priced?

I really like this theatre. I always sit in the balcony, but never feel to far away, and I can always see the whole stage. The casting and acting were great, as are the variety of shows they perform. The whole facility is very clean and well kept, even though it's an old building with a lot a history. The volunteers are friendly and helpful as well.

The Little Mermaid play was put together beautifully. The actors were awesome and sounded fantastic with every song. My whole Family loved it and we all went home with smiles on our face. Even turned our 12 year old, who didn't even want to go in the first place. Watching her smile through the whole play was magical. Definitely a must see!!

I absolutely love this theater. The productions here are almost always top-notch. Especially considering it is a community theater...not equity. Their talent pool is amazing ranging from performers and production staff all the way to stage crew and musicians. Staff has always been positive and helpful.

Very nice little theater that put on good quality performances especially when most actors are volunteers. Seats are more comfortable than other theatres I've been to. Because of its size there really isn't a bad seat in the house.

The talent his places pools is amazing. I only hope one day they will get paid for their work. Go see any show, and I promise even if they show is not your style, you won't be disappointed by the talent. Not to mention this theatre is an overall experience, it really is quite beautiful. OMG, love, love this place! We participate in the school, have volunteered and gone there to watch shows! It's definitely to notch, we recently went to a Broadway show in NYC and it's pretty darn comparable! The sets costumes and talent in these shows are great!

Over a decade of shows seen here. Are all the shows themselves 5 star? No, of course not; however, they are many times such as the current My Fair Lady production. More importantly, this is a fantastic venue, replete with history and a great location with so many great dinner spots encircling it that you will be hard-pressed to pick one. The staff is friendly, the pricing is truly a value for the experience. Most shows begin at 7:30 P.M. with some weekend matinee options and productions usually run through at least a few weekends with Thursday through Sunday options at least. They also do amazing summer programs for kids and teens that are booked early and completely so if interested, look into it now. Adult acting classes are available as well. They also--little known--have terrific and unique packages for businesses a clubs that allow you to rent a very nice space with their catering or your own and you can combine it all in a package that includes tickets for you and your guests; great way to entertain clients or have a company outing or holiday party!

We have had a wonderful experience here with our kiddo. She has loved kidsplay and the staff has been phenomenal with the children and in providing help during a reconstruction time as well. I also love that the meters are free on the weekends. Only thing I think they should add is a diaper changing station or table or something to help out when a waiting parent needs to change a dirty diaper. I have had to use a sitting bench in an empty hall and it's a little silly that there is a family bathroom but no space for a baby to get changed.

This is my most favorite theater in GR! The staff/volunteers are always kind and helpful. I've about 6 shows here within a couple years. I love the shows they bring...Shrek, Sister Act,Akeelah and the Bee, Christmas Story and more. The casts usually pretty great and there are some real powerhouse singers that grace the stage. Parking is really easy. Either pay or park at a meter for me and get my steps in. I think it's great for girl's night out, kids night out and date nights. Next year I'll be a season holder for sure. Can't wait to see Steel Magnolias!

Great place to get a taste of community theaters twist of Broadway plays. Its an intimate venue with seats anywhere in the theatre you can have a great view. The local talent pool runs deep in the greater Grand Rapids area.

Our son takes classes and attends summer camp 2 yrs now. We love the education classes. He is 6 yrs old now and contines to love going. Classes fill up fast so you need to register once it opens up. Great staff!

Love going to shows here! Make sure to get there early for better parking and in case you have any issues with your tickets if you are picking them up. Nearly every show my tickets had not been properly printed or set aside.

It is a large but small theater. There is not a bad seat in the house. There are two spots for people who have large wheelchairs. I had one of them. There is a ramp to get to the bathrooms. The bathrooms are wheelchair accessible. Yea!

While the performance of A Christmas Carol at the Civic Theatre last night was terrific and the venue just wonderful, I was equally struck and disheartened by what was missing. As much as I enjoyed the holiday show, and I very much did, I was left appalled to see that it appeared to be an all-white production. In a city as diverse, smart and thoughtful as Grand Rapids, there would seem to be no good reason for that. While mid-1800's England may have been predominantly, if not entirely, white, 21st century west Michigan is not. Production companies routinely cast members of all races and backgrounds in any number of roles these days, so casting with no regard for the diverse population here seems thoughtless and questionable. Unless I see that this group has at least a consideration toward inclusiveness, I would hesitate to ever attend any other shows at this theater.

Civic does some nice productions. The location has parking close by with plenty of downtown options for before or after. My kids enjoy the kid productions. They are usually fun and well done. The lighting and sets are usually phenomenal.

The Civic Theatre is a great combination of teaching and entertainment! Year round there are camps for local kids, and at nights there are performances of new and classical plays and musicals! The facilities, both the performance hall and spaces for rehearsals and class are wonderful, and everything is kept at a reasonable price.
