Reviews of The Aurora Fox Arts Center
This was the first performance I've seen here in decades and the charm and intimate setting made the show that much more fun. Snacks and drinks were for sale in the lobby before the show and during intermission which was a nice treat. If you want a fun experience at a historic venue I would definitely recommend a visit to The Aurora Fox Theater.
Tonight was my first time attending The Aurora Fox Arts Center, we saw The Jedi Handbook, it was SO good! Definitely a performance I would see again and recommend others see. Looking forward to seeing more performances here.
We saw The Jedi Handbook. Great production and cool venue. The show was family friendly and I wish those with tiny kids would have gotten a babysitter.
The lobby was too small for the size of the gathering of the Miscast ticket holders, so it was uncomfortable waiting to be seated. Once you are seated though, you are immersed into.the show.
If you get the chance to check out Miscast next year, I highly recommend it. Such a fun mixup of performances with a wonderful cast and crew raising money to support a program that helps Denver actors with their medical bills.
What a great showing of Freaky Friday! "The mom" was absolutely hilarious! Fastest musical I've ever seen...not as in short, but as in so entertaining time just flew by. I didn't want it to end. Wife and daughter were in tears they were laughing so hard. "ADAMMM!" Sorry, you had to be there. Try to get there for this one. Great for kids too, say maybe best for understanding the storyline would be 12 and up.
What an amazing date night. There wasn't a bad seat in the house and they had snacks. The production was super good. The kids really put there all in it. The center does a wonderful job of representing Aurora! Can't wait to go back!
Just seen another amazing production at the Fox! The all female cast was excellent! The coffee and snacks were still on point. I sat in the exact same great seats and am still excited to go back.
Janae Burris was hysterical! If you get the chance to see her live, don't miss it!! I was in tears laughing so hard. If you don't get the opportunity to see her live, watch out for her one woman comedy show "Long Overdue!" when it gets televised! You'll be glad you did!!!
Was a lovely venue and a fun experience overall!
Queens Girl in the World was a great show and actress. Socially distant seating and skipped intermission due to Covid. Didn't have to touch anything unnecessarily. Had free water since bar was not open. Very nice experience. Very thankful to have this place.
The show was great.......Actors were great and this show was great. Only playing until 12/15/21
What a surprise! I went here on a field trip with my child and we pulled up to a very unassuming theater only to have a lovely music and story show with members of the Colorado Symphony. It was such an intimate setting with a very kid friendly cast. I highly recommend this place
This theatre is exactly what you would expect going to a small community theatre in Aurora. As long as you accept it for what it is, you won't be disappointed.
The amenities here are somewhat lacking. The chairs in the theatre itself are oddly small. There are no cup holders either. The lobby got pretty packed before they let everyone into theatre. The drink prices were much more reasonable than any of the downtown theatres though ($4 for a basic wine or beer versus the $6+ downtown),
We saw American Idiot here and really enjoyed the show itself. They did start it about 5-10 minutes late, which I guess is normal for this theatre. We weren't in a rush to start watching it right at 7:30 so it didn't really bother us.
One thing that I thought was a nice touch: we got an email the day of the show from Ignite Theatre, thanking us for choosing them, telling us when we could arrive, and letting us know where to park. It even included a link to the little parking map on their website, highlighting the best parking locations.
Considering the production value and ticket prices, we'll definitely return.
Great local theater that doesn't shy away from controversial topics. I recently saw HOODED OR BEING BLACK FOR DUMMIES and I really enjoyed how they were able to weave together humor and social and racial issues in a really powerful way. The theater is small, but it is great for really connecting with the actors on stage. Do yourself a favor and catch a show and support local theater!
Great Theater Experience!
The Aurora Fox never ceases to amaze. They put on high quality productions every time. It is a nice intimate theater to see a play. Some plays and musicals make you laugh, cry or think and some do all three.
Went here for the first time last week to watch Dracula the play with my wife for date night. Inside and outside of the Fox are like night and day. Inside is nice and cozy, they offer a limited bar with drinks and snacks, and it wasn't too hot or too cold inside, even as people started filling the seats. Being a bigger guy, the seats were a little small for me, and the chairs share armrests with the seats next to them. Since I am a nice guy I pretty my wife have the armrest to my left and the older woman on my right have that armrest, so I sat all night with my hands in my lap. People inside were nice and friendly. Outside was a completely different story. When myself and about a dozen others went out to smoke during intermission, a group of people walked by, obviously drunk or high, and started harassing people. There was a security guard standing right there that did nothing, he thought it was funny. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is interested in live musicals, my only advice is to get in and out, don't hang out outside unless you want a drunk guy hitting on your girlfriend.. I recommend the Fox Theater, but not the area it is located in.
I had a wonderful time at the fox and it was my first time there. And if it wasn't for Lisa Young I don't think I would have been there Lisa Young did an awesome job and the young lady who played the daughter of caroline awesome job!!! And for the rest of the cast awesome I especially liked the use of kids!!!
This was my first time visiting this theatre and I went to see The Wiz. The show was pretty good but the theater itself is very dated. From what staff was saying, the production will be going away soon. All-in-all, I'd say this would be a good place to take your children for a play.
They have put on such great show(s). A lot of talent in this theater group.
Great little theater. Awesome drink/snack prices. Long bathroom lines at intermission. May have to park where homeless people watch you if you can't find a parking spot in the theatre parking. Made me nervous to walk a block to the theatre.
Irritated that I had to stand in line when I prepurchased my ticket.
It would be easy to drive by the Fox. It rests on an electric and somewhat rundown stretch of a classic Denver East-West corridor. But to miss or dismiss the Fox is to miss a theater gem of the Rockies. From experimental immersive theater to regional theater classics, the Fox brings life and art and love and community together. The funky building just serves to remind everyone that this is one city with one theater that is bigger than the sum of it's parts.
I saw Hooded here recently and I loved it. It is so refreshing to see theater that is fresh and is not shy away from touchy subject matter. Please keep it up. I hope that the next play Life Sucks is as good.
Attended play there. Great acoustics and sight lines! Will definitely keep Aurora Fox Arts Center in mind for other performances!
This is a lovingly maintained old theater in the heart of Aurora. It is a small, intimate venue that hosts wonderful live theatre events throughout the year. Parking is sometimes a challenge, but if you are there on the weekends you can use the city lot next door.
I've seen two musicals here, and both were wonderful. The theatre troupe that is in residence here is talented and puts their own touch to the stories they portray. Their production of "Dracula", around Halloween 2016, was very well produced (the larger gent who played "the American" almost stole the show with his smarmy portrayal, as did the mousey actor playing Van Helsing).
Prices for these showings were moderate, "off-Broadway" pricing not out of line for the quality of the productions. Set pieces are imaginative, and they do a lot with the narrowish stage they have in the building.
In general, bravo for a big-city theatre experience in a small-town like venue. I await my next trip out East on Colfax for another pleasant night of theatre!
Great venue, but parking can be a bit of a challenge. My granddaughters were in a performance of Alice in Wonderland. All the girls were very talented. It was a fantastic show.
It is a nice venue and they have great shows. However, they started the show 15 minutes late and the seats are miserably uncomfortable. If you have broad shoulders, be prepared to squeeze them in!
Symphony played Gershwin here, we sat in the back of the balcony in the middle and the sound was fine. Great preformance by the symphony. Gershwin is hard to play as there are many interesting change ups. Cannot see the musicians that well from there but the view of the entire hall is great. Wesley Leffingwell was fantastic! Piano. All our thanks goes to Norman Gamboa, Conductor.
I do acting class there. It's really awesome and cool! And has lots of props.
The production of SpamAlot was wonderful and had me laughing all night long. This is a small venue and there really are no bad seats. If you like theatre you will love the productions that are produced here.
Went to see "high hat Hattie" and was not disappointed. High quality production with a ton of talent, hosted in a lovely space to boot. Some technical difficulties, but mostly minor. Great gem in the city of Aurora.
This is a great theatre. The service and the plays make for a nice date night. I enjoy coming here with my wife. Beau makes us feel like VIPs.
Saw "I Miss You Like Hell." Very well done. Many diverse and talented folks perform here in topically relevant plays. The diversity is much appreciated.
Same as always! Everyone knows the Fox, glad they committed to safety & still requiring masks as this is a small venue!
Classy. Vintage, Low Key, Professional, Excellent sound and stage and lighting and design. An all around quality asset to out city!
I recommend grabbing a beer at Peak to Peak across the street and a guacamole tostada from La Cueve down the street.
Park behind the MLK Jr. Library!
Great community theater with quality productions. #culture
This place has such a cool history, and chooses its season's shows to challenge and inspire. Top notch productions.
That theater gives you a very intimate feeling, like you are right in the action. The actors are immensely talented! I cant wait for the next play.
Just saw, Miss You Like Hell. It was so moving and timely. The acting and singing was fabulous. I highly recommend this show to everyone!

Wonderful local theater experience. Quality entertainment in a historic building.
What a lovely historic theatre! We attended a play that our granddaughter was in. Was fun to read all about the building and the neighborhood.
Love this theater! Each season is made up of unique shows and quality actors. Highly recommended!
Ok. Show was fantastic. Seats leave alot to be desired, especially when a very large person sits beside you. Seats are very small.
Hidden gem! Productions I've seen have been really good. Plus it's nice to not have to drive all the way to downtown Denver :)
This place is great. My sister and I saw a comedy play here and it was hilarious. I highly recommend this theater.
Saw "Hooded, Being Black For Dummies." It was a really good play. No complaints about the venue, but no compliments either.
This is a hidden gem. Fun theaer, intractive and every seat is great!
Serves wine and spirits. Price I just right. Lots of variety.
Experienced Hedwig for the first time. Excellent show! Singing and music outstanding! Could go back and see multiple times!!
Nice small venue.

Wonderful theater, courteous staff? Well worth visiting for any show they put on!
Very cool theatre! Retro styling makes this place very cozy. Highly recommend this venue.
Small intimate theater with a variety of productions. Recent offering, Hi Hat Hattie, a musical biography of Hattie McDaniel, excellent.
The show and cast was awesome. I really enjoyed my experience. Nice that there were concessions.
Always a great performance at reasonable prices. And now some restaurants are opening across the street and nearby to make the experience even better.
There was construction in the front. Good place to grab a quick show.
Covid policy and patron handling 5 star. Acoustics for symphony a bit deceiving.
We used this place for a production. It was wonderful! The renovation has this place looking like a real Theater.
The staff is always Friendly and accommodating. I love going to see the shows here.
Quaint atmosphere; good, friendly staff; comfortable seating; not a great location but I have been in worse areas
Saw Hedwig and the angry inch here. It was awesome. I only felt like I was in a Christopher movie a little bit.
Beautiful historical theater with talented actors. Reasonable prices and yummy concessions

We love going to the Fox... They have great talent and the shows they put on, there is something for everyone!
This is definitely one of the best Little theater spaces in the Denver Aurora area.
Cozy community theater for a play.
Especially now you need to be close to the action due to vision or hearing concerns.
Great community theater venue, and a Sublime performance of Hedwig and the Angry Inch.
A nice place to see live theater in a small venue.
Excellent " Company" play. Advertisement in the theater had reflecting glass issues.
Plays are very well done. Great to see diversity in the casts and the material.
Nice, clean, and friendly staff. Place is small but no matter where you sit you will be able to see well.
Great shows and talent brought to this unique building each season!
Actively approaching the safety of the performers and audience.
Good little theater. My son enjoyed putting on a production there.
The show was great:Twist your Dickens. great venue
Great local theatre. They do some great work
The quality productions under the lead of Helen has skyrocketed the content and takes risk with casting!
The seats are very uncomfortable. Makes it hard to enjoy the show.
