Reviews of The Wilbur
Had a fantastic time here! The staff were so friendly! Drink prices were a bit high, but at a venue like this, that’s to be expected so that wasn’t a shocker. I really liked the fact that they took your order when seated. I would gladly pay a bit more for a drink and not have to stand in line! All in all it was a great show and experience. I’ll definitely see more shoes here in the future.
The venue is very intimate and closed in making for a great experience with the performer albeit with not amazing sound, as there was an audible humming coming from the speakers. If you decide to go, be aware seating is very cramped and without actual theater seats, you're forced to sit in what I'd call Target style lawn chairs. The staff was friendly and attentive. I would give three and a half stars if I could.
This was my first time here. The Wilbur is a nice classic theatre. If sitting on the balcony expect to be a bit uncomfortable if you are taller than 5”4. If you are seated on the ground floor you get a nice intimate experience. You can order drinks and snacks to your table. Expect to pay $$$ for drinks. Overall, I had a good experience.
Quaint and casual venue! Easy parking, easy ticket lines. Full service bar for a few drinks! Awesome place to catch a show!
Great place to see a show, but the staff all need to get on the same page. We were told when entering the building, photos were allowed, but no flash or videos .. enjoy the show. Show started bunch of people started to take some pics, and the ushers were telling them to put their phones down, not allowed. I'm fine with no photos, but we shouldn't have been told otherwise. Communication is key... otherwise great show, great venue. The seats with tables were a bit squished, but we managed.
Show was great. Seats were good but narrow. Shame to see such a nice theatre falling into disrepair. Dust and soil are visible on the draping and railings. Not my favorite venue to see a show.
Drinks were outrageously priced and a mini bag of pretzels were $4.00. Beyond that good seats and great entertainment by Chris Tucker
One of the floor employees named Damian is very accommodating and very nice. I went to a show with an injury and he did everything he could to make sure I was comfortable during the show. All of the staff was very welcoming, great venue.
Small venue which helps with a more immersive sound. The seats aren't the most comfortable but it's not a big deal.
Great venue! Small and intimate. You get table service for drinks if your seats are on the floor. The downside is the drinks are expensive and not very strong. Overall great experience.
First experience is a lasting experience. Perfect venue for your favorite entertainers. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Seating is perfect for gathering with friends and meeting new people.
So excited to see NSP here tonight! Not impressed with the Wilbur's seating. Sat in section H, row 3. There are 10 seats crammed two rows ahead so we couldn't see the stage due to the lack of staggering. All the seats are the same height too. Not great to enjoy a show by spending it leaning around tall people.
We saw a comedy show. It was a good venue. Really not a bad seat in the place. Very old theater that could use some reno. Fairly easy to get in and out.
This venue really needs to rethink their seating arrangements over in section H. You have 10 people CRAMMED in the first row and the 6 of us 2 rows back cannot see. Definitely seems like a fire code issue considering it took them a few to figure out how to get out to go the bathroom!
Early picture ( can't use flash during performance) sold out Brian Regan comedy show , could hear and see fine . The seats are a little tight and the drinks were very expensive but we had a blast and definitely look forward to another show or concert
I have been at Wilbur twice and the experience was similar both times. The place is intimate (as others mentioned), but the sitting is very cramped, the drinks are very overpriced, and the acoustic is bad. Not my cup of tea. The staff is nice though.
Great theatre. The comedy show I was here for went without a hitch. They served wine and beer at the concession stand. Getting into and out of the building was a breeze.
This was my area in seat 1 in section H but I'm not sure I was in the exact seat I was supposed to be in lol
Also yeah the seats are not comfortable for me and I'm a slightly bulky fella but still only 5"6 and I was slightly too big to fit in it perfectly so keep that in mind as well as the seats are very close together
Very good concert. The seating was strange as the rows were not in any order. The service was terrific and nice people.
Great small venue. Interiors could use a bit of updating. Staff is great. Love going there for shows
Great location and venue for shows! Because of its age bathrooms aren't in the best location, but otherwise we had a great time. Drinks served at our seats. Even got a backstage tour. Cool, old building!
I came from Pittsburgh to see Black violin when they performed there. I was in the balcony and I have to say I could still see and experience the show perfectly. This venue was perfect for the concert! They offered (expensive) alcohol, and the staff was reasonably helpful.
However, a major concern is the seating. These seats are SMALL and stacked close. Presume that you'll have no arm room with the person next to you, that is you have to pee you'll be doing the "s'cuse me" scoots the whole way down the aisle if you're on the inside of the row. My biggest displeasure, however, was the leg room.
For anyone over 5'9" you're going to be quite uncomfortable and will likely nudge the back of whoever is sitting in front of you, OFTEN. But the experience was amazing 5/5.
Went to a comedy show, and the sound was clear. Good balcony view. Drinks were made to my order.
The viewing area was great from where I was on the ground level near the bar. However, the sound system doesn't get loudly in the area under the balconies and therefore made the show a little less enjoyable. The show was great, but any people talking or a large amount of laughter, made some of the talking from the stage impossible to hear. The prices were reasonable, but they need some speakers under the balcony for that issue.
My go-to theater to watch my favorite bands or comedians... I think I go there every month for a show! Easy process to get inside (line moves fast). The bars inside serve huge drinks so it's worth the price. And security is friendly which is rare at event venues.
Great service from workers. Show was excellent. Sound was awesome. Will return for next comedy show.
Nice classic theater. Went for Chris Tucker show. The venue floor was setup like a traditional comedy club. Seats packed VERY close together and extremely uncomfortable to sit in for 2+ hours. Performer was good and sound quality was great. Just wish the seating was more accommodating for guests. Two glasses of wine and two beers should not be sixty dollars!
Show we saw was great, but the Wilbur is tired looking. Needs a revamp. It was extremely hot inside theater. The theater itself is nice..beware that if you are on the second floor you will need to walk up like 50 stairs..
Great venue for Ninja Sex Party! Take service only. My cocktail was $24 which was pricey but to be expected for a concert venue like this.
Went and seen Gordon Lightfoot with my boyfriend and dad. Love the coziness feel of the theater and its a beautiful one at that. Only thing in the mezzanine it's quite close quarters and if you are a tall person your knees will be on your chest basically lol. But all in all i would see more shows here. I enjoyed it.
Very small older theater. Staff was helpful and friendly. Seats are VERY small
The whole night from start to finish was great! The place is clean and we'll staffed everyone was very nice and willing to help to answers any questions I had weather it was where is my seats or the bathroom, or more importantly where can I get a drink..lol This place serves strong drinks, a little pricey but like I said heavy handed pour! I got a vodka and pineapple 😋...it was so yummy! Just a tip if u don't mind the quality ask for the drink to be made with the house brand they do not always offer it (suggesting the two pricier name brands) as an option. There was table service so I never had to miss a minute of the show. I saw Tiffany Jenkins, which was amazing!
Saw Ninja Sex Party here, crowd was loving it; me included. I've never seen such an amazing performance like this using a theatre, but it def gave some Bo Burnham Words Words Words vibes, woth lighting and coreographed bits. The theatre itself stands as a beautiful peace of architecture in Boston, so if you're sick of the boring stadium life, go see a comedy show or somethin at The Wilbur.
For nostalgia this place can't be beat, it's absolutely gorgeous inside, like taking a step back in time. Seats are super cramped but it adds to the charm. Speaking of seats there is not a bad seat in the place, it's a very small theater and no matter where you sit you feel close to the stage. Bathrooms are in the basement, down several stairs so plan accordingly. The staff is exceptionally nice. They do have table service, offering drinks and snacks. Be prepared to pay about $14 for a domestic draft and about $25 for a mixed drink. If you're visiting Boston try to catch a show here.
Very helpful, friendly staff. Beautiful old theater. Felt intimate and cozy, and acoustics were terrific.
Great show Craig Ferguson has them laughing in the aisles as usual. Only change I would make is new seats in the theater or new seat cushions. Either one because the current seats are not comfortable
Took our kiddo to his first concert last night. Staff went above and beyond. You have a great team and a great venue. Thanks!
Not a bad seat in the house. Enjoyed the place, seats are comfy. Pete Holmes is hilarious always!
the staff was extremely helpful. they enforce the proper masking rules which made me feel comfortable being in such a crowded room. and the show is awesome
Not a bad seat in the place. Service was amazing. The sound system blew me away!
Nice, older, intimate venue to see a performance. Bring your own stadium cushions and the seats may be comfortable.
The theatre is moderately comfortable. The seats were bar stools and we were packed a little close together. The best thing was that they had waitresses there to serve you drinks. They were very overpriced, but that's to be expected. Overall not a bad place to spend a couple of hours.
The Wilbur is a decent place to go for a small show. There isn't a bad view in the place at all. But the seats are tiny and cramped, you will be basically in your closest neighbors lap the entire show. The ushers are completely rude and unhelpful but the bartenders and other personnel were great. It's definitely a hit or miss type of place.
Good theater with close seating to stage. Seat space may be little small for some folks like anyone over 6’. Cheap seats are still close to stage and have far more room . Theater staff was very nice and helpful. Waitresses and bar service was very fast. Nice to be able to get out and see a show again. Our Brad Williams Comedy show had been delayed for two years, glad it wasn’t canceled.
Try the Wilbur, you will be glad you did!
A great intimate venue for a show. The seats are comfortable, the bathroom is clean (bring small bills to tip the attendant who keeps it that way), it's a beautiful building, the sound carries well from the stage to the mezzanine, drinks are permitted in the seats, but don't bring your own-bags are checked at the door, and a metal detector will find your steel vest flask. At midnight the ground floor becomes a club.
Awesome theater, a small venue but that's not a negative, it enhances the performance of the show.
Been many times. Ok venue.
If you are sitting at a table near the stage plan for a painful experience. The seats there are HORRIBLE. Everyone near me commented about being in pain after the show. I was in agony by the end of the night.
The regular theater seats further back are fine though.
We visited the Wilbur to see a live version of "Welcome to Nightvale." The show was spectacular, but the theater itslef, while it is a neat old theater, was a bit lacking.
The seating was pretty tight, especially if you're a tall person. I would say either go for seating on the floor level, which looked more like standard tables/chairs or right in the front row of the balconies if you need to extra leg room. If you're a bigger person, I would avoid the balconies all together as the seats themselves are a tight fit for such a build.
My other complaint is that it was crazy hot in there... I don't know if they just had the AC off completely or if it couldn't keep up, but it was rather uncomfortably warm for my taste, especially when kinda crammed together in tight seating and after a long day of adventuring in Boston.
I did appreciate the atmosphere of the old building and the staff was super helpful and friendly! I just think the theater itself needs a few upgrades to help make the shows even more enjoyable.
Great experience seeing both the Mike Birbiglia & GGE shows last month at this amazing old theater.
A very nice theater. We saw Nigel Ng there. Arrive early to find parking some place close by.
Lovely old building. The staff were nice. The event ticket was reasonably priced. Drinks were pricey but that's standard I guess.
Standing room only in the front for the concert I went to. The sound was loud but I was right next in front of the stage. The venue isn't huge so most seats are good.
Really nice intimate venue. Saw The Musical Box, a Genesis tribute band. Sound quality was good probably in part to the Wilbur. Sat in the mezzanine and brought binocs but didn't actually need them since we were close enough. There we're tables with wait service right in front of the stage which would be nice. Got a JD at the little bar right when we got in. Wasn't cheap but wasn't expecting it to be. Parked at the Revere hotel lot, but there was a bit of on street parking around. Really enjoyable night.
First time here, was very grateful that we got to wait inside, away from the cold. The staff was very nice, very helpful. If you are sitting in the balcony, be prepare for a long trip up tons of stairs. The bathroom in the balcony area was so small. Claustrophobic? Doesn't work for you. It was so nice and warm, no drafts. The inside could use some new paint and maintenance. Basically a nice place, would have been a 3, but the staff got them the 4th star.
Great time enjoying my favorite podcast there. The venue was quaint but accomadating and very old school inside. The door folk and ushers were EXTREMELY polite. The poor rating is coming from the price point. I had already spent 80 dollars on tickets and one drink was 21 dollars. 5 dollars for a 16.oz pland springs. C'mon y'all. I would have really enjoyed myself a lot more if I could have bought at least one drink. I guess I need a better job.
Seats and the rows are very small and cramped like Fenway. Bathrooms are in the basement which is odd. Sight lines were good and the sound was decent. Ushers and bartenders were outstanding! Very friendly and helpful.
View and sound good from even really high up. The AC and air flow needs to be turned up for the higher seats was way too hot everyone was sweating or leaving because of the poor AIr conditioning.
The venue is small so you will have a view of stage. But seating is sooo cramped its uncomfortable even for a average to petite person.
The drink prices are so overpriced its insane. My husband and I get 2 drinks each for the night and it's about $90
I only go if I really like the performer
Been to this venue a few times, upper seats are kinda cramped, floor tables are pretty good and come with drink service. Drinks are pricey, but it’s Boston, so that’s to be expected. If you’re gonna drink, just make peace with it and try not to cry while you’re settling up.
This is a nice theater. The bathrooms are right outside the mezzanine but too small for the crowds. There is a concession stand on the mezzanine floor but it's way too small and has just one employee running it. Just go down one floor and it'll be quicker. I promise
It's a decent sized theatre. Very good staff and waitresses. For table service during comedy shows, they really jam you in there and it can be pretty awkward when someone is hammered or obese or spastic sitting next to you. The drunk guy next to me spilled a full double of rum and coke when he laughed and the mess was unreal. There were several enormous people whose bodies prevented everyone else from moving at the eight people to two 10-inch tables setup. Is it sizeist to say that? I recommend sitting in balcony or regular seating if you prefer some semblance of personal space.
Beautiful theatre! I've only been here twice but both times were great experiences. From what I can tell based on my experiences & from looking around is that any seat is a good seat; it's not too big, so even in the back you can see the stage. Beautiful architecture, the ceiling is legendary. The sound is great; I've seen a comedian & a band/singer and both times there was good sound quality. They do sell alcohol that you can buy on the mezzanine and bring in with you. They have a little section in front of the stage with tables, and that area gets table service, the rest is movie theater style seating. With regard to seating it is very cramped. I am 5'6 and my legs were so cramped during the show, but it certainly isn't something that would prevent /me from going back.
I'm writing this in Sept 2021 and they're requiring proof of vaccination upon entry.
They should sell tickets over the phone because Ticketmaster fees skyrocket prices. Not doing so is so rude to patrons.
Fantastic venue for a show!
Seats are a little close up too but great show.
Nice theater with a fun show. It's a little dates and the lack of bathrooms on the balcony or main floor make it a little challenging.
Great old theater but the sound was terrible. Not the first time that the sound crew just doesn’t have it together saw al dimeola
Always a great time at Wilbur. Amazing bartender Mike on mezzanine level.
I enjoyed myself, but VIP seating too close together. The drinks were really good, & priced fairly.
Very nice old style theater with excellent acoustics. Unfortunately, it is very disorganized and chaotic. The floor seating is a complete mess of overcrowded tiny tables placed haphazardly around the place. Getting service at these tables is mythical: I've been twice and never got a drink...
Saw the Toucher and Rich Brookline 911 show and, for the most part, had a good time. However, the sound quality for the actual calls was poor at best. It was difficult to hear and combined with the laughter from the audience most of the calls were inaudible. If they have another one of these shows the text from the audio calls should be on the screen.
As for The Wilbur itself, the humidity in the place was high but otherwise it was fine for an old theater.
Really cool venue close to a parking garage and tickets were reasonable. Our server was very nice. My ONLY complaint is that our seats were out in section B and they reaaaaally pack in those narrow black seats on the floor. We were all practically sitting into one another with no personal space whatsoever. And if either person in the middle two seats had to use the bathroom basically the entire 8 people had to get up. Cool show, cool decor, friendly staff, packed in like sardines. 9/10
We're going back in October and sitting in the Mezzanine, so I'll keep everyone posted. 💪🏼
My fav theater in Boston
Staff always so friendly... the atmosphere is perfect
Great small theatre to see shows. I got balcony seats . Wouldn't want to be drunk or have a fear of heights and sit there. Near Chinatown which gives lots of pre or post dinner options
The place was fairly clean and comfortable for a venue of its age. We had balcony seats and the stairs go get up there were brutal though! There was a masks at all time requirement but it wasn't enforced and many people sitting around us didn't have a mask on or were just using it as a chin strap. When we left they had us exit through a side alley which was a little sketchy but I think it was meant to divert people from exiting closely in a small space.
Intimate venue. Staff was polite and efficient. The seating is quite cozy, so you may want to arrive early to get in and settled. Waitress came to our section and took our drink orders.
Nice, small theater to go see a show. Much easier to leave compared to the Wang Theater. My only complaint is the staff and COVID protocols. Yes, I get you have to check around and make sure people have their masks on but do you have to do it every five minutes and on top of that, block the view of everyone behind you? Seriously. And then not to mention these people waving their flashlight all over the place while you're trying to enjoy the show.
Pretty decent theater but very outdated. The only bathroom is in the basement. The chairs are kind of dirty and super close together you can’t breathe. But the experience and show were great. Friendly staff. Just needs updates.
Went to Indigo Girls concert there Saturday. It’s a lovely small theater and the first floor, wheee we sat, is set up cabaret style. But they packed people in (even though there were some empty seats) and the ushers actively patrolled camera use but NOT mask violations. There was one guy near us who had his mask off nearly the whole time. I wish they did more to enforce safety protocols.
The Wilbur Theater is so amazing, and so small and intimate. The feel is amazing. It is an amazing location. They aren't the best with VIP post-show, they are amazing with pre-show VIP. Ground floor at the tables is a bit tight.
The theater is great, but $25 for rwo waters and a small bag of M&Ms is ridiculous 🙄 …
Beautiful but no elevator for my ill mamacita.
The music was great, who can't have a good time listening to Queen 🤷. Why can't we take pictures? Our ushers either did a really great job staying on top of it and the ushers near the stage did not, be more consistent, either it's ok for all or it's not😕. …
I went to a comedy show here and had a good time. The acoustics and views were fantastic even from the top balcony. I got a glimpse of other shows and they seem to invite a good roster of comedians. If you're into comedy and in the area, you'll find a good mix here.
Comedy show was great. Seats are tight if you are tall. 2 drinks in plastic cup with tons of ice $38
Loved seeing mark Normand here. Table service on the floor was great!
Wonderful theater there are no bad seats
Saw a comedy show, first time there. Sat on the floor level at a barstool table and had drinks during the show. Manageable theater, ready to find and get in and out. Friendly staff. Full covid protocols in effect the day we went. Great experience. Overall an excellent theater to catch a show.
Great venue! Small enough to be intimate. Good sound and lights. Exorbitant prices for drinks.
Thank you to the Wilbur for checking vaccinations and or test results at the door. It really took the edge off being nervous about being in public again. Thinking of the safety of your employees, the artist, and your patrons shows integrity. This will keep me coming back to your Venue.
Otherwise I've been going to this place for years. It's a great place to see a show. A little smaller than some of the other nearby buildings that creates an intimate setting while at the same time the layout balcony and architecture makes you feel like you're missing nothing. This is one of the reasons to even live in Boston.
Great show! The seating was tight and the building is very dated needs some work.
Seating is overcrowded and drinks are expensive but atleast shows make it somewhat worth it.
Great place! Beautiful building, kind and helpful staff, and very well organized events. Went to see “And That’s Why We Drink” and could not have had a better time.
Venue is beautiful and historic, but the seating is uncomfortable ans the staff is known to be unnecessarily rude sometimes.
Excellent views to the stage, great comfortable seats, good service, and just an overall excellent atmosphere for a venue. Best place to see a comedy show or any live act.
It's a great little theater. Great view and acoustics. But, It could probably use some restorative love. The staff was very quick to get the long line inside from the cold on the street.
The staff was super nice and accommodating. I didn't expect the bathroom to be in the club downstairs but it was a nice change of scenery. Drink prices are pretty expensive but they tasted good.
Great shows and nice small theatre. Only complaint is that section B is way too tight. Chairs not facing the stage really doesn’t make any sense. We were basically turned around the whole show and very uncomfortable.
Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful historic venue for comedy shows, live podcasts and more. The floor seats are angled sideways at little tables, so if you want traditional theater seats, stick with mezzanine or balcony.
Great staff. Excellent show.
Had second row seats that were packed a bit too close to each other. But still a wonderful experience with Steve Hackett.
Beautiful theater. I would recommend for the classic feel, and the acoustics carried well. However, I would not recommend sitting in section E. I was certain I got fantastic seats being front row in section E. What they fail to explain is - section E is like a cage filled with bar stools / chairs. Our seat location was great. But, getting in / out involved weaving in and out of 20+ people sucks.
This theatre is wonderful! The staff/ushers working on the floor are so kind! Good drinks, Great atmosphere, Amazing show! Cant wait to come back!
The acoustics here are marvelous. It is a great venue for this kind of a show. It's a beautiful old-fashioned stage theatre. The only downside is that there is apparently little to no accommodation for persons with any kind of mobility impairment. There are lots of stairs, and the only restrooms are in the basement, so if you're seated in the balcony or mezzanine, that's inconvenient.
Great acoustics and good in house service. We were near the front but it looked like there were no bad seats in the house.
This venue has seating up front by the stage, but the chairs are really uncomfortable. Waiters come to you for drink orders, which is very nice. Great acoustics! I have yet to see a comedy show at this venue, but I'd like to do that soon.
Have been here for several comedy shows and they have had awesome bookings! I like the theater, it's on the smaller side of the scale though so be aware that big names sell out quickly.
Great location as it is right in downtown and just a few minutes away from the Green, Orange, and Red lines.
I've only sat in the balcony and I'm happy to say it has enough of an incline so as to make the show enjoyable no matter where you sit. The seats are comfy, though I need to mention that leg space is rather limited (tall people, I feel your pain here).
Great place to see a show, nice and intimate venue
Other than very tight seating it was a very enjoyable experience. The staff was awesome and the show was amazing!
Smaller space. The chairs downstairs are not very comfortable, but I liked the layout of the room. No matter what seats you buy, you will have a nice view of the stage.
You can see GREAT entertainers at the Wilbur and acoustically, it's great. They also have drink and snack service to the seats. But It's an old building with uneven floors and the seats are uncomfortable.
Beautiful old place but unfortunately to dirty,dusty..probably never clean the chears:(
Saw a great show here. Beautiful, historic venue. We had mezzanine seats and the spacing was a little cramped, even for my able-bodied partner. Stairs down to seats were wide and non-slip though. I have a mobility impairment and a staffer was kind enough to go well out of his way to make sure I got to an accessible restroom via elevator. Am also gender-nonconforming and was seeing a show with a large LGBT fanbase with my also GNC partner, and everyone was nothing but kind and respectful.
We went to see Candlebox yesterday. What a great, little, intimate venue! We loved it so much! We hope to visit again soon.
Saw Pete Holmes doing stand-up here. Beautiful building
Mostly a great experience, but beware if you are tall. The seats in the mezzanine (and possibly the entire theater) are too close together. I am 6'3 and with perfect posture my legs were squished against the seat in front of me, pushing it forward slightly. I imagine this would be the case for anyone over 6' tall.
Great show Kathleen Madigan. Though there was an obnoxious drunk lady beside me who never shut up. Feel bad for the folks in front of her.
Great small comedy club...seating in the front for food and beverages , upstairs they had a bar which served alcoholic beverages ... literally shrouded by tons of places to eat and see
Such a fun and cozy venue. I love the seat service and seating layout but the chairs themselves are very uncomfortable for a 2 plus hour show.
Very intimate setting with hardly a bad seat in the house. Good acoustics and nice stage in a beautiful building.
The infrastructure is a little older - seats are small, rest rooms are in the basement. It can get a little warm, especially in Summer.
Ushers are usually very friendly, but be advised they enforce their no-camera policy without a sense of humor. Great place for stand up comedy, singer-songwriter recitals, and similar events.
Orchestra seats are the best for the show I attended, comedy! Unfortunately the show was close to sold out and I was left to purchase balcony tickets. No elevator I could see, so if you get balcony tickets like I did, be prepared to walk up at least 4 flights or stairs worth or so it felt like to me. Overall the theatre is rustic but yet still cozy.
Great, older venue. Not a bad view at all in the entire place - intimate but holds a lot of people. Biggest downside is the seats. Yes, they're old and probably haven't been replaced in awhile, but there is VERY LITTLE leg room in between you and the seat in front of you (*see picture*) Also the seats themselves are on the smaller side. Most likely to maintain some of the historical components, but it was very uncomfortable!
Great ambience, and there really is no bad seat in the house. Beautifully maintained. If you're on the taller side or have a bad back, I would highly recommend sitting in the floor seating - because of the age of the venue, the seating is more cramped than one would hope when seated in the mezzanine or balconies; again, the seating is well-maintained, it's just smaller due to the antiquity of the venue.
We'll be back next year!
For an older venue with minimal modern amenities, this place puts on a decent show. The acoustics were good, and the theater itself is beautiful.
The seating on the other hand is a TOTAL S*#! Show. When my 5' 1" Girlfriend complains about lack of leg room..... you can imagine why "Bigger" people like myself: 6ft 215lbs; might find the seats to be the equivalent of a sardine can. 2hrs in those old rickety balcony seats was absolute torture on my body.
Great venue! Wonderful staff, and well organized!
Amazing historical theatre. Great atmosphere and aesthetics. Drinks are pricey, but they are any place like this. Definitely one of my favourite Boston spots.
We sat on the balcony. The view was great, could see the whole stage fine. The seats were small and closer together though. I know it's an old theater and I realize they must have the seats set up for maximum capacity... but I'm 6'1" - any taller and it might actually have been painful up attend.
We went here on New Year’s Eve to see a comedy show! We sat in the front row of the mezzanine area which was fantastic viewing. The venue itself is fairly small and is good for an intimate show! The staff did a great job at getting people in and out of the venue.
This theater is a gem of Boston I just wish the employees kept it cleaner. The bathrooms and bars are a bit small for the venue but otherwise everything is amazing. The theater is breathtaking when you walk in and there is not a bad seat in the house. I still felt like I was right there. I will continue to go see shows here.
Good view and audio from the front row balcony seats. Only minor negative was that there was a metal bar where they hang all the stage lights that could impede view as you look down from the front row balcony seats if the attendee was too short. Attended a stand-up comedy here.
I attended a concert here & love this intimate venue...
NOTE: my ears were happy, but my butt was bruised!
The hall is small, so all the seats have a great view.
I LOVE that fans can get up close and personal with their idols.
I mean, seriously, you can practically smell the sweat...LOVE IT.
I was on the side of the 1st floor and the seats were painful for 2 hours.
The center front rows were made of tables & stools with backs.
DRINKS: Beer was expensive...I mean even for Boston.
Really, you're just buying in bulk: two 24oz cups is $32 (4 beers).
After two beers, the bathrooms are clean and welcoming.
TIP: Floor seats are painful, so maybe bring a seat cushion.
There is a balcony, if you're willing to trade intimacy for comfort.
Absolutely wonderful time. Both comedians were halarious. The view of the stage was perfect from all areas. Drinks were pricey but not unexpectedly considering the location. Will definitely be seeing more shows here in the future
If you get tickets in the balcony, wear comfortable shoes! It's a several flight walk. All in all a nice theater with a neat vibe.
I've continuously visited this place for shows, awesome, beautiful, and there's always a great view where ever you sit.
I am disabled and the staff treated me great especially Danielle. I love going to the Wilbur. Chris Rock was awesome!!
Careful when selecting seats down front. Sometimes you'll have your back to the stage. Service was excellent!
Fantastic venue very quaint and excellent service!
Excellent place to see a show, been to a few comedy shows here, on the first and second balcony and basically every seat is great from front row to back. The seats rise high above the row in front so there are never viewing issues.
Bar can be extremely slow parsing out drinks before a show, and obviously it's very expensive. It's fairly easy to get to if you get off at Park street on the Red Line and walk there which makes a nice walk along or through Boston Common.
We went to see a comedy show at The Wilbur, and while the venue itself seems like a nice, older theater, it was so cramped in the front section / row that it was uncomfortable. The audio quality is good, and there is definitely a certain personality of the building, but I don’t think I would go out of my way to go back there. Also, drinks are EXPENSIVE. We stay at the Ritz when we stay in Boston, and drinks are less expensive through their room service than at the venue.
Good venue. The space is tight enough that every seat feels like it has a good view, even the mezzanine and balcony seats. The leg room isn't great. Drink prices are high, but that's going to be the case in any theatre.
This theater is a gem of Boston I just wish the employees kept it cleaner. The bathrooms and bars are a bit small for the venue but otherwise everything is amazing. The theater is breathtaking when you walk in and there is not a bad seat in the house. I went to see Joey Diaz and even though I was in the upper balcony I still felt like I was right there. I will continue to go see shows here.
Drinks are way over priced. Seats are extremely uncomfortable.
You walk into an old school theatre that has been kept up well. All the seating has a great view. My biggest complaint would be leg room....there isn't any...at all. If your taller than 5' 8", good luck. I saw Ron White here and it was a good time.
Went to Beth Hart March 10 and it was as epic and the staff is super friendly
Great old venue...not a bad seat in the house👍👍😊😊 …
This is a great tiny theater! I saw a stand up comedian here. It was fantastic. Overall highly recommend if you are looking for an intimate but spacious venue. Staff is friendly, seats are comfortable.
Went to see Deon Cole perform and the show was amazing, the theater has charm and a elegance that has not faded with the times. Check it out sometime!
The architecture is nice but the venue is in desperate need of renovations. Seating reminds me of Fenway park. I'm 6'2 and couldn't move my legs once sat but my 5ft wife complained about it first. Acoustics were great and we had a good view of the stage.
This is a nice medium size venue which makes one feel close to the performance. You can order drinks from your seats by signaling the waitress using an app. You can't pay through the app. The seats are chairs, and were comfortable enough for me, but I can imagine some would find them small and lacking in back support.
Been to dozens of shows. Tight seats and high drink prices but that's Boston for ya. Great stage views anywhere in building and they get great comedy acts
I thought the theater was beautiful. The architure and the details on the columns and celling are alluring.Be advised the seats are very small in width and close together. I am 5'3 and my knees were barreling into the seat in front of me. If you are tall or overweight it will be uncomfortable. The alcohol service consisted of 2 beers and 2 bottom shelf wines served out of a side closet at $12 a piece. ( Pregame across the street at the W for that price)
Saw Noel Fielding here. The show was amazing. Wish the seats were a little more comfortable and a bit less crowded. Very close to the stage as well!! Only big complaint was the bar. Bartender seemed inexperienced & drinks were not very good. I would like my drink to be tasty and less watery for $12. I will definitely come back to this venue though!!
The seats are definitely uncomfortable and very closely placed so not much room to move around to try and get comfortable.. The metal backing is what I found most uncomfortable. I do love the size of the theater and the staff, however the drinks are very expensive. We ordered 2 Grateful Dead and the price was $45.60 which included 20% gratuity.. I know it is Boston but come on.
Saw demetri Martin here. Great show. Venue was perfect for it. Was on the mezz and felt close enough like they were great seats. Staff was attentive and helpful.
Great Girls night out... Saw Comedian Bob Marley, and Mike Spears great view no matter where you sit!!
Went to see Bob Saget here in April of 2019 had seats in the back of the balcony but the view was fantastic. The staff members I interacted with were professional and polite and parking and food was easy to obtain. I can't wait to come back to the Wilbur
Most ridiculous prices on alcohol....5.00 for a box of m and ms and most cramped space of any theater in Boston, only reason to go is for who ever you bought a ticket for.
The balcony seats are hard as a rock but otherwise its the perfect place for a comedy show
It was a great place to have the concert!
Not a bad veiw of the stage from anywhere. But the seating arrangements are awful from the stage back no room to move without tripping over people
Great venue. Lines for the bar are long, maybe doors could open earlier so you didn't have to choose between catching the opening act and getting a drink.
Awesome selection of performers at relatively reasonable prices. Seats are a tad uncomfortable for long shows, but I've yet to find one without a great view. Happy to purchase back row upper story tickets, as it's a small theater.
Easy to get to, small venue and good selection of performances. Ticket prices are typically very reasonable. Floor seats can be a bit crowded, so I prefer front rows of the mezzanine for a great view in comfortable seats.
AWESOME shows! But the seating arrangement REALLY needs some improvement. The people who purchase the more expensive tickets (bottom level) get the worst seats - four small chairs gathered around very small tables, practically sitting in the laps of strangers. I'd rather pay a little bit more and get a comfortable seat with some elbow room.
PRO:The entertainers they get are great. 5 stars on that. The venue is small enough that you can see really well from all the seats. Easy to park and get to. Lots of bars/restaurants in the area.
CONS: The drinks are ridiculously expensive. $15 for a crap beer. The seating is so squished together you can kind of forget being comfortable and you'll definitely be way too intimate with everyone around you.
Great place but the seating is designed for 12 year old girls to sit comfortably. Seating too small, too close and too steep. Not sure where the folks with disabilities are supposed to sit - or how they would get there!
Great staff and signage. Fabulous venue
Fantastic place to see a show. There is no bad seat in the house. Bathrooms are down stairs but they have a very old elevator to take you down if your disabled. At first, I asked how I could get to the bathroom, they had no compassion and told me nothing about an elevator . I was in tears when I asked another concierge they were very accommodating. I told him and pointed out the person that didn't help me prior and he was confronted. This is a very old theater too. I would go again only for those hard to find entertainment that doesn't come to Connecticut. The theater parking is far as well. Lots of walking and no free parking. Just be prepared if you are disabled and have a card for parking, they do not take cash!!!
I like the intimate atmosphere of the theater. I also like the staff they were very friendly and helpful when I was there.
Been here a few times to see comedians and the venue is just great. Even in the balcony I was able to experience the show just fine (saw Jim Gaffigan). I also appreciate that the staff is very on point when it comes to the no cell phones rule. The show wasn't even two hours, and my millennial butt can go without Facebook for that long. Would go back anytime.
Who's Line Live was very funny but overall I found the immense amount of rules and "kick-outable" offenses as well as the extremely cramped seating to be very unappealing. Loved the show but will probably only go again if it's at a different venue. Drinks were also RIDICULOUSLY expensive. I'm talking 20 bucks for a rum & coke expensive and then the servers expect tips HA, no thanks.
The Wilbur Theatre is older and you can tell. It was smaller than I imagined it to be, so next time I won't be afraid to get tickets a little further back. all the views seem to be great. I saw a comedy show here and it was a perfect venue for it. The drink line are not very efficient though, given its age and the outlay I'm not sure there is much you could do to fix it.
This is a fun venue. I went to see Lavar Burton Live! The seat I had was under $40 and in the center of the balcony. It was an excellent seat at a relatively low price. There is a more expensive section below with table service...those seemed to be the prime seats, very close to the stage. However, the balcony was perfect for me!
Great show but theater is showing its age. Lower area is very tight with table and chairs. Balcony still has great view with nice padded seats.
Strict masking and door checks made me feel comfortable seeing The Moth performance this month. Had a fantastic time. Gorgeous theater.
Entering theater went smoothly, theater was clean, acoustics very good. Enjoyed comedy show.
Came here to see Two Dope Queens with a friend. Very well lit and efficient (we were at the back of a long line but didn't wait longer than five minutes to enter the theater). They have alcohol, including cocktails, and the cocktail waitresses are very efficient, have some handheld device to send in and track a tables' drink orders. Sound was good, lighting was good, and the sound wasn't too loud given that I was sitting near the front. Bring a cardigan or light sweater if you get cold easily like me.
The show we went to was HILARIOUS (Nick Swardson Comedy Show), but the theater it self was cramped with crummy seating so the site was overall not crazy comfortable. Drinks were fine but overpriced, not nearly enough servers to cover the amount of people there for table service.
Nice cozy theater. The size of the venue makes the whole experience seem more intimate and personalized. My only complaint were the drink prices. Would need to take out a small loan to order drinks there.
Theo Von was hysterical. The seating, however, was super uncomfortable. I’m 5’10” and my knees were smashed into the seat in front of me — not even exaggerating, I couldn’t keep my legs straight. Also, it was REALLY warm up upstairs besides being cramped. Good sounding room though. Stay to the left going upstairs to avoid waiting in the beer line if you’re not wanting beer.
I love this theater, and the staff is always helpful and polite, just wish that the seats were a little more comfortable and spaced out. I've been to two concerts there in the past year and thoroughly enjoyed the intimacy and acoustics of this old theater. Worth the visit, just be prepared for the seats.
That's all I'm leaving there.
The Wilbur is a solid theater. Seats are ok sized and comfortable enough. It's old which is cool in it's own way but every direction you go in is a very narrow walking area. I've been here 3x now and haven't had a bad viewing spot yet.
Enjoyed my birthday with my girlfriend and Chico Bean
We saw Jim Gaffigan here last evening. The staff checking us in were friendly and efficient. The balcony seats are up many flights of stairs, so anyone with walking issues may have a problem. The seats are way too small for anyone over 5' 5". The biggest downside was there is no accomodation for someone with hearing aids. The acoustics are good, but sometimes you still need some extra help and there were no options which was so disappointing. Most venues I go to now have an app that helps people with hearing issues. Hopefully they'll consider looking into that option.
Sinbad was fantastic!!! We laughed until we cried. Our seats were excellent! However, the condition of the theatre left something to be desired. The seats were stained. The bathroom stalls were in disrepair. But despite it all, knowing the condition, I would go there to see him again.
Horrible seating bathroom packed and has an attendant... No need for that. Paid 155 for two tickets to see Dave Attell..great show but had to sit sideways at the small tables to fit everyone in so, neck was sore watching the show. Would recommend paying for balcony seats better view.
It's tiny. So anywhere in this place is basically a good seat. You could get a decent car for what a drink costs in this place, so I advice you to get sauced elsewhere. Bathrooms are a short 5 minutes away in the downstairs club area. Otherwise ok.
I really like this venue even though at times the seating can be a bit crude. It does add an intimate vibe to whatever show you are there for, which is nice, but might uncomfortable for a lengthy performance. Even then, the service to your seat is great and surprisingly timely.
Pre COVID I would of said it was an intimate setting. Just went to Chris Rock and it was too tight, too close. I’m not sure I’ll ever go there again.
Cool theatre. It is an older place that still looks old inside. The front row seating can be odd. It is all small tables and chairs with a waiter. The seats aren't all easily turned twoards the stage. There is a chance that you will have to turn your head 90 degrees for the whole show.
Staff are competent and helpful. Seating is a little tight, and overall the interior could use a new coat of paint and general freshening up. Drinks not too unreasonable and the waitresses are attentive. But the main draw is it's the major comedy theater in Boston and attracts the best comedy acts. Close to several good bars and restaurants also for pre-show.
We had a good experience. Security seemed nice and offered to show us to our seats. The stairs can be alot to take if you are in the balcony and the seats are tiny and pretty uncomfortable but overall we had a good night and would go back.
The front seats or vip section is fairly crammed and lacking leg space. The show was great and service was really good as they kept seeing if we wanted more drinks.
The Wilbur is a nice venue to watch a comedy show at but the value for money is not good. My ticket was $49 and they tacked on a $10 (20%) convenience fee. The beer line was long, and they charge $16 for a 22 oz premium beer which is 33% more expensive than Gillette Stadium.
Well the seats I had sucked but I asked could we move up the had like 2 seats open and let us move up great show there the best
This is a beautiful old theater. The balcony is steep so there really isn't a bad place in the house. You will get robbed when you buy a beer or glass of wine, but that is true of every theater in Boston. Acoustics are good.
I love it but if you have any leg back issues don't do the balcony. Will kill ya. Also didnt like the small beer selection. Not a fan of ipa & ciders. If you like those drinks you'll be good. Otherwise i really do love the place. Been there a few times over the years for different shows. Id deff go again but doing floor seats. :)
Small venue so wherever you sit you will have a nive view but I would definitely recommend getting seats on the floor because up in the balcony there is a lack of leg room. Also having floor seats will keep you closer to the bar.
Great show. Wish there was more room.
The Wilber is the place to see a show, the seating is a bit cramped but the ambiance of the theater makes up for the close quarters. Acustics are great plus they have ample speakers to hear the stage, if you're floor three you may be a bit strained on the distance but there's plenty of adult beverages to make up for it.
Show was excellent. What they don't tell you is if you sit in balcony seats is that you have a long hike up. For those that are not in A++ shape you feel like you are going to pass out when you get to the top.
I have seen a few comedians here and both times I had great seats. Reasonable prices and you can go to the ticket booth and purchase tix with no service fees which will save you a ton of money.
Lots of famous comedians have shot their specials here because it is a great venue.
Great old theater, not a bad seat in the house.
Love the concert I went to but they suck at being organized and doing meet abd greet things after the show...its awful
We saw Fluffy, Gabriel Iglesias and he was absolutely phenomenal. The Wilbur offers an intimate entertainment experience. Extremely nice experience in the city.
Beautiful old building yet easy to navigate. There is a parking structure one building over to the right (if you're facing the Wilbur from the street). For these kinds of venues, the drinks are very expensive, unsurprisingly. The stairs on the balcony seating are steep, so watch your step; not much room to move up there either. Despite this, the view was perfect, even behind a tall person. Highly recommend going tho the Wilbur if there's a show you want to see; it will definitely not be the Wilbur's fault if it sucks.
There are only stools, instead of theater seating. They are high and have backs.
Comfortable seats and fun environment!
This review is for the theater only, not the show. Parking isn't too hard to find on the surrounding streets /parking garages. Bathrooms were very clean and staff was friendly. I felt like there were too many staff members trying to help out too much. Also, get ready to play 16 dollars for a tall beer....
We went to see Monkees here last Friday and my experience was excellent from start to finish. We had a car pick us up at our house because we had some drinks. Haha!. We used President's Livery Service…would def use again. We got to the show and the venue exceeded our expectations. The venue seated about 1200 people and the sound was great. After the show the car was right there waiting for us and got us home safely. Cant wait till the next show.
Very nice atmosphere while waiting. There's a good view from the first balcony, you get good sound quality. I can only imagine better seats are phenomenal.
Historic playhouse in Boston tight quarters. Built on a grand scale very beautiful Easy to get to parking and Subway close. It was a good time Acoustics were great, and they have a full bar. In the city that means top dollar for drinks
The Wilbur is a fantastic theatre with a lovely small bar and great viewing from any seat. Its just small enough for the crowd to be intimate with the performance, and the comedic types of shows they have are wonderful
Drinks were very overpriced, but the show was great and I have no complaints on the service. The place could use a coat of paint and new seating to bring up to five stars as a mid-range venue.
This venue was perfect for the event I attended. I went to see comedian Andrew Shulz and the sound was great, views were clear, good lighting and audio and they did a phenomenal job keeping the foot traffic under control during entry and exiting.
Great theatre with lots of caracter! Great view of the stage wherever you sit.
The seats all had a good view from what I can tell. The drinks are very expensive, and once you enter there is no reentry so no way to smoke or go outside during the show.
Tightly seated, but some of the better priced acts (new and old) in Boston. Not one really bad sight line. Although I was told that seats by the bar have a little more room.
Just right security. Very attractive wait staff. Good air conditioning. I had a great time.
Friendliest security I ever met. No attitude problems at all. Don't see that much lately! Must say I was way up in the balcony and these are the smallest seats I have ever sat it. Im 300 pounds but my wife and twelve year old had to squeeze in too. The seats are jammed together, and the walk down to the bottom balcony is very very very steep. You feel like you are going to tip over. I had the end of the isle, and every time someone walked down to their seat they had to grab my arm or knee. The heat was blaring as well, made things a bit uncomfortable. Just when you thought it was safe to use the bathroom, everything in there is jammed too. Got up and personal with the guys you are peeing next to.
Other then it being super hot inside it was a great night
Drinks are pricey but should be expected. Great venue and atmosohere. Seats are a bit squished but I understand why. I go here every year for a comedy show and always have a great time.
Thank you Wilbur Theater for hosting The Moth. Your theater is beautiful and your staff are very friendly and helpful. A great place for an authentic Boston theater experience!
Cool theater. If your seats are in one of the sections in the back right or back left and they are not in the first row of those sections, you might have some trouble seeing the stage clearly, especially if you're not tall. If you're all the way at the back, the balcony above you could obscure the upper part of the stage as well.
They get excellent acts but if you are over thirty be prepared to be uncomfortable. The once venerable theater is in need of serious renovations. Access to restrooms very restrictive. They do make it easy to buy expensive liquor though.
great place for live podcasts and live comedy, been here a million times, always a good time
I saw Piff the magic dragon here. It was a great show. The theatre is old and beautiful. The upper balcony steps are very steep. There is literally not a bad seat in the house.
Had an excellent experience at the Steve Via show!!!
Big name comics and lesser knows acts alike. I recommend the table style seating on the stage level as the upper level seats are very cramped. If you are tall, prepare for your knees to be jammed up against the seat in front of you. A very old theater and very nice inside. Their newsletter has pre-sales all the time so check that out.
I'm 5'9 and my boyfriend is 5'11. Our legs were pinched and I know its an old venue but my legs started to fall asleep.
Sitting was tight and uncomfortable but I had no other problems as I read other reviews about the price of drinks and showing up early.
Got there an hour early to see Joe Rogan at 7 and it was an easy flow.
Didn't buy drinks because I'm not about paying 15 bucks for one beer.
Joe Rogan was great and I had fun.
They always bring some top notch people here to perform, but what the eff is up with the seating? A majority of it in the "orchestra" section is all small tables and awful chair seating. The tables face inward, so you have to either crane your neck to face the stage or somehow move your chair, without hitting someone in the face or spilling their drink, or just pissing someone off in general. You are literally on top of people here and it doesn't make it too comfortable for a 2 hour performance. Also, 15 dollars for a mixed drink in a plastic cup? NAHHHH
Old theatre starting to lose its charm. Years ago it was neat how "vintage' The Wilbur was with its pillowless seats + old layout but now it's clear it's time for an upgrade, or at least new seats. Only place in town decent comedy comes through.
Saw steve vai here. He was amazing
Overall a great experience. Just one complaint. It was way too hot inside the theatre
Went to see the Lost Causes of Bleak Creek on Oct 27, 2019. The event was mint. The actual theater it self was not as good. The place felt run down and abused. Eat before you go cause all they had was watered down soda/drinks and m&ms. The staff was friendly enough but not something I would plan on going to again.
There really isn't a bad seat in the house here! It does get a little cramped in some of the side areas where seats are movable, but this is a favorite spot of mine when in Boston. Just doooooo iiitttttt.... :)
The other gem in the theater district of Boston. Another nice venue. Doesn't have the concert lineup of the Orpheum. Has more comedy shows, but very intimate.
Was very happy to see the ushers monitoring and stopping people's cell phone camera use at the Keb' Mo' concert last night. People are so clueless as to how distracting their lit-up screens are to those sitting near them. One usher was also great when he came to help an older woman navigate the stairs in the darkened theater. Keb's concert was excellent! My only complaint there is their extortionate drink prices ($9 for a small Harpoon beer!).
Fun time. Small seats and the chandelier looked like it was falling down. Overall a nice theater.
I've seen Jim Jeffries, and Gabriel Iglesias here and I had a good time. Seating is a little tight but definitely worth it to see the talent.
We attend a lot of concert venues, and this was my least favorite in terms of parking and band visibility. The seats were uncomfortable and the sound was not so good. It is a very large theatre.
The Wilbur is a nice small theater. Balcony is steep so mind your steps. It works well for comedy shows and some concerts. Park 5 mins away at 660 Washington garage and get validated at theater to save $5. Paid only $12 which is great in this part of the city.
We recently went to go see Weird Al in concert here. Its a nice medium smallish space for intimate converts. We've also seem Tim Minchin, Henry Rollins and a few other things. It could use a little remodeling however.
Great theater for a comedy show. Only negative is ground level seats are tightly packed and chairs not super comfortable.
Great Hot Tuna concert Nov 26, 2021.
Acoustics were perfect at The Wilbur
I like seeing a show here but if you're over 6 feet the seats are quite uncomfortable. And it's $14 for a mixed drink....little stiff but 1 drink for a show is fine.
Great old venue. Needs some work. Eric B and Rakim. Great performance
Great old theater. Staff is wonderful. Beer is overpriced.
Great comedians as always. The seating areas are a little on the tight side but comfortable.
Beautiful, clean but 52 dollars for 2 drinks a soda and chips after already spending a couple hundred to see the show. Learned a lesson not to buy your drinks, the bartender was more interested in talking and flirting with the guy next to her instead of doing her job, the other bartender served 3 couples before she even gave us our drinks. We saw Randy Rainbow there and saw other we wanted to see at the Wilbur but all it took was poor service from the bartender to not give this a 4 or 5 star. People come for a complete experience. And btw teach your bartenders how to make drinks my long island tasted like lemonade with too much alcohol. I tried to find someone to ask for a new drink or get my money back about 15 minutes into the show and wow did they breakdown fast and leave. I did tell a staff member and all they did was apologize, Nothing was fun at the bar. Suggestion pre make the drinks listed would speed up save money and lower your cost so lower your price and you would make it up in bulk... RANDY RAINBOW WAS FANTASTIC and the seats were good everywhere and most of the staff was smiling and helping others. This is an example of all it takes is one of the staff to not be on the same page as the rest.
Small enough to see the stage from any seat with good acoustics. Not exactly enough room for a laser show but the music sounded great. The rest rooms were tiny.
Intimate venue, regardless of where your seat is you will have a great view and feel close to the performance. From comedy to rock concerts, you can't have a bad experience at The Wilbur.
Old theatre. Depression era size seats. No elevator. Alotta stairs I had to climb w a walking cast boot on my rt leg....but I did it!!!! Had to see my girl Sara Silverman! Still enjoyed being in a Historic theater such as this one. Wilber has fine accommodations for ppl who have mobility issues like myself! A+
Great theatre! Even from the balcony there aren't any bad viewing angles.
The Wilbur is a great venue for comedy and music. I've seen a lot of shows here over the years. Quick tip, if you are getting table seats on the floor... pick them by map and make sure you don't get ones that face away from the stage
Went to the Wilber for the 1st time the other night for that Gavin DEgraw show. What a beautiful theater. Small and intimate but very well maintained. Seats could be more spacious. The staff were excellent.
Well organised of crowds for getting in. Seats are very cozily arranged and rather uncomfortable. They have a full service bar but it's expensive and they don't offer many cocktails, couldn't make a Cosmo and what they did make was weak.
Intimate theatre space. Typically has great comedy shows. I'd recommend balcony over the small tables in front of the stage. It's not very comfortable down there.
Saw comedian Hari Kondabolu-- great show. The seats in the mezzanine are great in terms of view of the stage but they are not comfortable. The theatre was extremely warm in the mezzanine. Heat rises, people! You might want to be prepared to shed layers, if you're at the Wilbur in the cold season.
Nice, intimate venue with extremely convenient parking. Seats are comfortable to sit in but very cramped.
Way understaffed bar - 2 people for 100's waiting? Also it was VERY hot. All the staff were great except for the bouncer, but I guess that's his job - people can't go an hour without vaping?
The seats are too small. Not enough leg room. The staff is very nice.
Seating set up is pretty bad on the floor - chairs crammed in on top of each other. It's a serious hassle to move around. Beer options are terrible (2 choices and one of them is Coors Light?). Great selection of shows.
I've been to the Wilbur many times. The issue is making sure you pick the right seat section. If you're tall (I'm 6'2") it can be a long night if you find yourself in a section that you can't stretch your legs and you're literally on the person's lap next to you. Choose wisely. The facility was decent. The servers friendly. The drinks were a tad overpriced for soda (I had a jack and coke) but it was mostly soda for $11. With all that said, you're really going for the show you paid for and the last one I went to was Michael Che and the show was really funny. Hope this helps.
Really nice place, pretty good experience. Floor seating was tight, drinks were expensive.
A great night out in an old school theater. More atmosphere than a class M planet. Parking is close, plentiful, and expensive. Convenient T station might be your better bet. Proffesional and experienced staff.
Love this theater. Small, so mostly all good seats. Krazy phone security and stoopit Ticketmaster ticketing are annoying.
I'm 5'8 and my knees were in the backs of people in front of me. Small and close quarters, but able to see the stage. Go if you love the performance... But the place I can do without
Small and intimate venue. Has a good view from the balconies.
Great venue with friendly staff. The facility is a little dated, but thats part of the charm.
Excellent intimate venue! Loved it there I will definitely be back!
Saw Maz Jobrani here last weekend and had an awesome experience! There’s a bar inside and they can even take your order at your seat! Drinks are very decently sized and made well. Overall great experience at this venu
Saw Craig Fergerson. A
Wilbur seating style was uncomfortable , a bit haphazard, and a little to squishy. Otherwise it's a great intimate venue. I have a Walker and we did not inform them ahead of time and they we very accommodating.
2nd time seeing totally different musicians within 8 days. Enjoyed both experiences tremendously
It's a fantastic place to watch a show but the seats near the stage feel cramped and the drinks are way over priced. In my opinion $6 for a soda is way too expensive.
Had A Blast With My Middle Sister. Went to See Lisa Fischer. An Amazing Show. The Energy In that Room I can't describe. It was Magical... Her Spirit is so Clean And Clear And Uplifting. Nothing From her Days With Luther Vandross... I will see he again and I'm a New Fan all Over again... Wilbur Theatre Is A Nice Venue. Comedy Shows Are Always Off The Hook.
Watched Buckethead perform here. One can get a good view of the stage from any seat. I just didn't like the lighting. The stage was a blur and I could barely see Buckethead's fingers. But then, he's incredibly fast!
A beautiful theater that hosts various kind of events. Though the inside decor is absolutely gorgeous, the seats are not very comfortable. Still, afterall, a very Boston style theater.
Great venue for comedy shows
I see a lot here and I love it
Great concert venue. Excellent sound. Nice bar. Friendly staff.
Saw "Get The Led Out" Led Zeppelin tribute band who were phenomenal!!!
They are such a friendly venue and have also been very understanding and accommodating with any issues.
Awesome small venue..feels like your on stage
Pros: They get some great acts that aren't picked up elsewhere andthe bar has a lot of options.
Cons: older and more run down than some. Not much room to move around when trying to get to the bathroom or whatever.
Nice place. Floor is seperated into sections like stage ,A, B, C, D etc.. which for a concert isn't great but if your at the stage it's great, holds a nice little group of people
Went to see the bleak creek conversations October 27, 19. Rhett and link were amazing. Only thing was it was cramped. Was in the back row of the mezzanine and seeing the very top of the projection screen, but not a huge deal
Ive seen some great comedy shows here. Expensive drinks and tiny seats but you're always close to the stage no matter where you sit and they draw really good talent.
Nice cozy atmosphere with a lot of character.
Been to the Wilbur about a 8 or 9 times in last 3.5 years. It is always good to great experience. Parking is decent and validate with nearby lot. Drinks are reasonable. wish they served food though
Beautiful old hall, generally good sound. Many of the seats have very limited legroom. There is a bar. Restrooms are all the way in the basement, and have attendants.
Great show but seating is very tight. Near garage parking which is super convenient and the Abby Lane restaurant is across the street. Make reservations....
It's a good sized venue, but the table seating in the front center sections is awkward and uncomfortable
Too tight of a space left early and watered down drinks was whack! Both comedians were funny!!!! Great time!! But no social distances!!!!
Great shows are hosted here all year round. Easy access to many excellent restaurants and parking garages. This has become one of my favorite destinations in the city.
Quirky theater with many uncomfortable seats and seats with obstructed views. Better venues in the area but a nice size theather for an intimate show with the performer.
Oh, I love it there! We felt thisclose to Beth Hart! Concerts there are the best!!
Saw the ISLEY BROTHERS in concert! Theater was FREEZING! After all, Boston in mid-January? What else should I expect? Theater is OLD but the Isley Brother's music NEVER grows old! I NEVER took my coat or gloves off! LOVED the concert!
Drinks were fantastic! Left my phone at bar and the bartender was genuinely concerned and returned it
The Wilbur is the goto theater here in Boston for some of the biggest comedy stand up in the U.S. we go there a few times in the year and in signed up for their mailing list so every Wednesday i get an email with who is coming to the Wilbur along with a presale code so i can buy the tickets at soon as they go on sale and get good seats. Very nice environment and a must on your list of places to go to if you live in Boston. We always park at the recommended parking (Washington Street) where you can get a validation ticket for, when you leave, so your parking is reduced in price. Just don't forget to ask for your validation ticket when leaving the Wilbur.
I have been to this place a couple of times for really good shows. It is small place so sitting can be uncomfortable. it is also expensive. I am giving it a four star because the shows were really good otherwise rating would be lower.
Intimate venue. The floor seats are a little awkwardly positioned but you still have a great view of the performer. Any seat is a good seat here
Nice venue and helpful staff. The chairs are tiny on the balcony. So if you are tall or large maybe spend more and get floor seats.
The acoustics is first rate. Bathrooms are satisfactory. The venue is small and intimate and there is no need to look up at a screen.
Good venue for shows. Clean bathrooms. Efficient entry check system. Negatives: seats are tightly packed and beer is over priced.
Our seats were okay (stuck under the second level seating so difficult to see the stage) but the talent was great and drinks were offered without leaving our seat.
I love The Wilbur! I've seen a half dozen comedy shows here over the years, and while she's a little old, the building is still in great shape, and there isn't a bad seat in the house.
Beautiful old theatre. Sadly the seats in the upper balcony are incredibly bad. If you are taller than 5'9" you are likely going to be mighty uncomfortable.
Went and watched Toad the Wet Sprocket. The acoustics where amazing, and every seat is a good seat.
Beautiful and historic venue. Plenty of parking near by in local garage. Ushers could have been a bit more helpful than just pointing at the general location of our seats.
Loved the table service and drinks! Security was a bit slow to remove a drunk and disruptive patron though @Martin Sexton concert....impacted our enjoyment somewhat.
Went for a comedy show . Had a great time . The seating was set up a little tight but not bad. A little pricey with their drinks .
Love the Wilbur. Although if you're on the larger side definitely plan ahead to get ticket on the floor. Mezzanine and Balcony seats are pretty tight.
Saw Glenn Hughes last night. One of the Ushers his name is Will (don't know last name) went above and beyond. My wife forgot her ear plugs and they had none for sale. Will noticed our seats where right under the speakers and he went out of his way to find us ear plugs. There are people out there who care and do there jobs well.... Thank you Will!!! And thank you Wilbur for hiring a good person!!!
Busy place, prefer uber or parking near by. Visited to watch Russell Peters show, it was full but well managed by them. Variety of drinks available during show.
I, always, liked The Wilbur. Went to see Chris Rock, right after the infamous Will Smith incident, and he killed it.
In terms of the theaters around, it could probably be the least pleasant, but the staff was phenomenal.
Small venue in theater district. Seats are little cramped and dirty... has some old time charm for sure. Good for a comedy show.
Classic old-school theater, sounds good for music and comedy shows.
Felt very safe, even though it was close quarters. They had people walking around enforcing the mask requirement.
Small theater with floor seats that are too close to each other. The end seats on the left row 16 and behind are kinda blocked by a big heater looking thing, avoid these if possible.
Good venue with great shows. The main floor is tables and chairs meaning some people have to turn all the way around to see.
Fine establishment. Saw Tracy Morgan here and it was great.
Relatively intimate venue with his views of stage. Bar with service to your seat. Like almost everywhere in this town, muddy acoustics.
Search on entry requires removing not just metal but all objects from pockets. Especially in winter, this is a hassle.
Classic old time theater. Saw the road show for the new movie called THE BIG SICK. All the cast members. Very funny. Ray Romano was great as they all were.
The comedians their are great, but they really pack you in like sardines. Also bring cash if you have to pee, as you have to tip the bathroom attendant who neglected to swat the flys in the restroom.
Small venue, but well equipped for a comedy show or concert. Friendly staff and great organization. I'd definitely recommend!
Great venue, fantastic staff. Definitely prefer the Mezzanine seating
Wonderful little theater, even if the drinks were abhorrently expensive (like $20 for a 24oz Miller Lite)
Always like going there for shows
We had great seats but it was a bit cramped. Prices for drinks were reasonable. We did have a great time!
I wish that they had bathrooms on the top floors.
Lovely little place. Very intimate with the people on stage. Beautiful old architecture.
