Reviews of The Huntington at The Huntington Theatre
Went to see Jo Turner's come and gone. The show was terrific. The theater after renovations is very clean and well organized. The seats are comfortable. I like that they have lights in front of each bathroom stall to show which one is empty.
NewLy Restored HuntingTon Theater! Saw the show “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone” by August Wilson. Brand new seats 💺 and ReFurbished Auditorium. Check it out!!! …
Excellent theater with good acoustics. Just saw Odyssey Opera's production of Gilbert and Sullivans's Patience here, it was terrifiic.
Just saw the Offenbach operata Le Belle Helene, done by Odyssey Opera. Wonderful performance.
Other than the narrow seats, it was a very nice theater, with a nice view from the back row.
Huntington Theatre is somewhat dated, but it is not too large and rather intimate. At the moment they play Romeo and Juliet in Shakespeare's language but in a modern setting. Think Dunkin Donuts coffee cups and baseball bats for weapons.
The play is well acted and a pleasure to watch.
I watched a play here called “Good People” back in 2012. It was an excellent production.
The Bluest Eye. If you wonder if a Toni Morrison book can be made into a play and convey the depth and power of TM's work the answer is YES.
This is the best theatre experience I've had in quite a while. I was honored to experience it. Thank you
Powerful performance by gifted actors. A "Must See" while in Boston!!
Show was good but the new seats were very uncomfortable
This is a beautiful old theater. I was surprised that when I attended a performance, the balcony was extremely hot (maybe 85F on a cool day).
went for a twosetviolin concert, wonderful experience and interior
Expensive, but worth it. Production choices and value are top notch in the city. Great stories and fabulous artists. The crews clearly work very hard to give you the best, from the designers to the backstage crew to the people who build the shows. I'm never disappointed.
Probably the premiere theater in boston for plays! And $20 student tickets
Redesign old fashioned theater with engaging, hilarious, and compelling shows. The staff here is wonderful and helpful. And the cast they bring in for each of the shows are fantastic. This is a very good area to make a night out if you can
The theater was lovely and the seats were some of the biggest theater seats I have sat in in all of the Boston theaters I have visited. The Huntington Theater is also one of the smaller theaters. I loved looking at the beautiful blue and gold decor and tasteful chandeliers. The show I saw wasn't really great, but I definitely recommend the theater itself. Hopefully the show you see is better than the one I saw.
Sound of Music was amazing. The range of their voices outstanding, blew your hair back a couple of times! Worth every penny. An afternoon spent thoroughly entertained. Thank you, keep of the good work. Looking forward to future shows.
I saw "Indecent," which was truly spectacular and a life-changing experience for me. it strikes me that every seat in the house is a good seat based on the way the stage is configured. It does not get better than this, and New englanders are so fortunate to be close by. It was an easy trip in by train and a short walk.
This is a beautiful theater building that's about to be closed for a couple of years while it's updated & upgraded.
The productions here are consistently well mounted & well acted. Though somewhat pricey, this is easily the best, though not the most innovative, company in greater Boston.
Merrily.... is the most wonderful show in years. Brilliantly staged, beautifully sung, fabulously played and miraculously directed, it is a really great Sondheim dream show. Do not miss this one.
Just saw Quixote neuvo at the theater. the place here never disappoint. But the other does his very best to bring different cultures. A few years ago was Asian-American and now it's Mexican-American. I love the pre and post-show discussions. I will continue to come to this day there for years to come.
We enjoy our membership to the Huntington Theatre Company for many years. Both locations are next to great restaurants and bars. The shows are fantastic and well prices. Membership to this is the Best deal in Downtown Boston Theatre Scene !
Intimate theatre, good acoustics, decent sized pit and dressing rooms....an enjoyable experience from the audience and performer's perspectives. The shows the resident company puts on are consistently excellent.
I LOVE Huntington Theatre Company!!! They bringing meaning to art and the form of art and theatre! So far, I have seen 2 plays by this company. They are "Guess who is coming to Dinner" and "Ether Dome". I would have to say that I really, really, LOVE "Ether Dome"! It was such an awesome play and it was well done. I wish there was more publicity on the play.I also love the fact that some of their play is at the Calderwood Pavilion. That is such a great theatre.
Great smaller theatre with beautiful architecture
Just saw a production of Merrily We Roll Along that was fantastic! Living in a smaller city now, I don't see that kind of quality very often anymore. It was restorative to my soul. Great job by the all involoved!
Beautifully done productions every time. Bad Dates, Confederacy of Dunces, and many more, perfectly staged. Great local theatre with big name actors.
Count on the Huntington Theatre for a balance of new plays and old masterpieces. For younger audiences especially, you should check out their 35 Below program, which overs $25 tickets to audience members under 35 years old. Not only do you get a bargain on tickets, but the program also includes an invitation to several wrap parties. Definitely a bargain and a good time.
The shows the Huntington put on are amazing. Every shows sits with me for some time while I work through complex emotions that the actors portrayed or I'll find myself chuckling over a joke days later.
I've seen several shows here and they've been fantastic - the scenery is very well done, there's been cool projection, and of course great acting. There's an under 35 discount too.
We attended a panel discussion here and our seats were main floor, left side, about three rows in. Because the seats were close to the door, it was quite drafty and cold (November), especially when the door was open. Also, we were quite surprised that there were numerous issues with individual speaker audio, as if this were the first time Huntington had ever done such an event, which would be hard to believe. Speakers were finally given handheld microphones instead of clip-on lapel ones, and that fixed the problem ... but it was well into the evening that the solution was found.
Absolutely love this theater! Not a bad seat in the house. (But parking is difficult. As a "single" theater goer, that discourages me from attending evening shows.)
Always enjoy the plays put on by this fabulous group. Broadway quality in Boston, and much more intimate than the bigger venues showing more mainstream shows in Boston.
"Sunday in the Park With George" last night was as good a production of this masterpiece as I've ever seen, save perhaps for the original (Mandy Patinkin in this role is a very hard act to follow).
To the car-centric reviewer who said "Parking is a pain": take the T! You are using the wrong tool (a car) and then complaining when it doesn't do the job well.
Bad dates was an excellent one-woman show the actress was phenomenal! Staff was great too gave us best deal for our seats!
We had a lovely time here and saw A Confederacy of Dunces. Parking is a pain so get there early and have a plan. The Pru is always an option but will run you about $40.
Consistently, well acted and directed plays with wonderful sets. Their play selection is a combination of well known plays as well as premiers. Often thought provoking.
Went to the play " BAD DATES
Good location for local play productions.
Great walking area, right of the green line Symphony Hall stop or Orange Line Mass Ave Station. Hopefully looking to see more plays there
Doll house, part ll. A wonderful timeless theme. How do two people negotiate living together. Superb acting. Loved it!
A very good venue to watch a show with good discounts for students. Obviously the quality of shows varies, though even poorly written shows are well acted and produced.
Percy Jackson and the lightning thief was pretty good overall. The effects don't beat a Broadway show in NYC but it's much cheaper
Small theatre where almost all of you the seats have good views of the stage. The last few performances have been really great.
Love the Huntington theater. Every show I have gone to here has been wonderful. Inexpensive student tickets are a nice bonus.
Tea at Five is featured at the Huntington Theatre Company until July 14. Go for it. Spectacular performance of Faye Dunaway portraying Katherine Hepburn.
Neuvo Quixote is wonderful theatre. Actors, staging, music, dance and costumes. Updating Cervantes to modern life was brilliant
Very clever stagecraft, often having scenery rise from the floor. They even had stairs descending into the belly of a ship in the middle of the stage once.
Quixote Nuevo was wonderful. The staging interesting, fun and inventive. The play was funny, sad, thought provoking and engaging
Loved it.
The theatre is beautiful and somehow really big but really small. Every seat seemed to be a good seat!
Wonderful old regional theater, which brings interesting productions to the Boston area. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, both paid and volunteers.
Saw Bad Dates at Huntington Theatre. Laughed so hard and so often and I'm still smiling. Phenomenal script and actor. Kudos to all!
Beautiful theater! Loved listening to Caitlin singing her Lullaby Harper Rose with Palaver Strings.
Beginning of play was geared towards a very specific audience and I could not get into it at all. The acting was good though.
The adaptation of Tartuff, which I saw a few months ago was one of the best plays have ever seen. Bad Date was also very good.
This venue puts on quality productions, and every seat is a good view of the stage. But it is due for a renovation.
Beautiful theatre, my only gripe is that the women's bathroom only has three stalls and the wait is over 10 minutes because of the line that forms during intermission.
Traditional theatre. Very beautiful. Nice visibility and good acoustics. Maintenance a bit lacking though.
Nice theater, on the small side, excellent sight lines. Production was very high quality.
Beautiful theatre and wonderful play! Very accessible as I have mobility issues.
Saw Sweat the other day, and it was awesome! Huntington always supports great theatre!
Good plays (Confederacy of Dunces was superb) and you cant beat the under 35 season pass deal.
Great regional theater at relatively speaking, reasonable prices. A Doll House Part 2 was terrific.
We've been subscribers for over 30 years, and have seen dozens of wonderful performances!
Great shows! I always love coming to see theatre here.
Great venue great play parking is difficult to find but there is a parking garage but I believe it was 25 to park
Beautiful theater with gorgeous architectural detail. Excellent sound quality.
Pretty nice theater. Seats aren't the best not too uncomfortable
We saw a great show about the issues of people in a steelmaking town after NAFTA.
Nice historic theater. Comfy chairs. Friendly staff. Bar at intermission. Beer and wine.
Great shows and a strong commitment to making theater accessible to everyone!
THis theatre has great plays. It is in a good location. The acting is excellent.
Always fun events. A great sized theater and near to a bunch of restaurants/bars
Not a bad seat in the house. Outstanding plays and first rate actors.
Great performance! Small cast, each playing the role convincingly.
Saw tartuffe, wonderful adaptation. Wish the refreshments were a bit cheaper, go on a full stomach
I've been a subscriber for several years. I enjoy the theater!
Great mix of classic and contemporary works, all done with top notch production.
Core piece of the Boston Theatre scene for good reason. Great shows, great people
It was an okay place, little bit old but the staff is so nice that they deserved the 4/5. ❤
It doesn't get any better- the performances are top quality-
Hope they find another home !
Went here as a field trip and the play was very well acted and written
Amazing theater with great showings
Huntington is one if the oldest operating theater spaces in America, and an amazing experience!
My first time going to a play. I enjoyed it and will definitely be going more often.
Very nice theatre. Clearly run by a group that cares about the location.
Beautiful old theatre. Nostalgic feel to the venue.
Just watched SWEAT with mt class and the acting along with the theatre was amazing

Great space. Very classic and easily accessible by public transport.
Broadway-quality theatre. I see 2-3 shows a season here.
An excellent theater company...a great diversity in plays and musicals

Plays are way too didactic and politically correct these days.
Lovely space-great sight lines.
