Janis Taylor
This iconic theatre built in 1927 is opulent, grand and especially wonderful at Christmastime. They did a series of holiday movies for a minimal ticket price and I enjoyed it immensely. Just being in the theatre was a great experience but we also got a vintage cartoon to kick things off, a MOST entertaining man playing the Wurlitzer organ which rises from the floor and a sing along! Plus the concession stand serves beer, wine and cocktails. So. Much. Fun. I hope to return soon and hope this theatre is around for many generations to come.

I had my first experience at the Alabama Theatre and it was amazing! If you've never been, find a reason to go. I loved the Fab Four of course, but I would go back just to see the theatre again. It was beautiful and I loved all the details in the architecture and decor. I highly recommend this venue!
Helen Maldonado
My daughter took me for a Christmas movie! My dad had a store downtown and I took dancing lessons right next door! So my sister and I frequented the Alabama Theater! Still as beautiful as ever!!
Kirsten Peterson
Such a beautiful building. Everyone visiting Birmingham and all who live here must see it and take in all it's beauty. We saw Styx and it was a great concert. Acoustics are great no matter where you sit.
Sonya Ross
Date night with myself. Wonderful show with the Fabulous Four Band(Beatles).
Balcony seat Row P was perfect . Not a bad seat in the house. My second time. My first visit was in the 1st grade in 1965A.D.
Ryan Herrin
Theater is gorgeous at around 100 years old. I was worried that I wouldn't have leg room, (I'm 6'5" and a mountain of a man) but I thought it was comfortable. Try to go to a performance with the Wurlitzer organ. It's unlike anything at your local multiplex.
Janan Downs
I love the Alabama Theatre! My love for this goes back over 55 years and I have been to many events and movies. This is one of my favorite places. This holiday season my family saw Christmas Vacation and Elf.
Donita Rigsby
Zach Williams, We The Kingdom, and Cain Put On A 5 Hour Show That Will Last A Lifetime! I'm Truly Blessed & Honored To Be A Part Of Being Able To Go With A Lifelong Friend To Our First Christian Concert And Have An Experience Of Our Lifetime & To Be Able To Eat With & Talk One on One VIP With Zach Williams!
David Horton
Wow, what a place. Seeing "Swan Lake" on my first time there was a big plus. If you go it is worth seeing the art and the architecture
Linda Selvidge
Beautiful venue, especially at Christmas- really enjoyed the Fab Four concert there!
John Gray
Well a great place to watch Christmas movies. The restoration is beautiful it's good to see it come back to life.
Keith Britt
I first went to the theater when my family moved down to Birmingham 33 years ago. It was a wreck. It needed a ton of restoration work yet you could see the 'bones' were there for a beautiful facility if the money and effort could be raised. I was 30 years old then. Now I'm 63. What an incredible difference has occurred over the years. The theater is absolutely incredible. They have restored it to it's original splendor of it's creation in 1927!
The occasion for our visit tonight was a viewing of the Christmas classic WHITE CHRISTMAS. The movie remains the same which is timeless but the pre-show entertainment of the Vestavia Hills High Rockettes was beyond my expectations and was just wonderful! And the playing of the still incredibly impressive WURLITZER 'Big Bertha' organ by the house organist was worth the admission price alone!
My greatest compliments to everyone who put the evening together as they made it a lifelong memory for all of us there! The evening was a joy and highlight of the season!
Graham
Just another great old time theater trying to avoid being shut down, I great place to catch a movie and a groovy place to catch a concert, forever will it shine, live long and prosper Alabama Theatre in all your glory!!
Guy Carter
Building lifetime memories with my daughter Stacy & grandkids singing Christmas Carols with the Wurlitzer & watching the timeless Christmas Vacation in the Truly Magnificent Alabama Theatre. My first visit there was to see the Beatles movie a Hard Days Night there in 1964 with my uncle Eddie (84) & late brother Scotty.
Billy Carver
Absolutely stunning and manages to keep a southern charm. The sound is amazing and the staff was great. We had plenty of parking options and bathrooms downstairs / upstairs.
The seating was VERY cramped absolutely no elbow room but perfect aside from that
Anna Smith
Went to go see White Christmas and loved the experience! Such a beautiful and historical place!
Sonja D Long
I have been able to visit this beautiful theater more than once.
Seeing Gone With The Wind on the big screen was magic ✨
I am however disappointed that the Neon Sign that graced the front of the building was sold for scrap????? It has the most hideous update. It's cold.
The first impression and the glow of Neon can not be duplicated by the artificial plastic cheap welcome we now are forced to witness.
So much for authentic experience.....but once moving through the front doors it's forgotten.
I hope you have the opportunity to experience all that this wonderful venue has to offer.
BLESSED
Alison Garza
Absolutely beautiful! We went for the Christmas movies and the kids loved it. Only con was that the place was packed and they had only one concession stand open, so the line was really long. Otherwise great experience and we will definitely do it again!
Jill King
I absolutely love The Alabama Theatre! It’s so beautiful! I’m never disappointed!
Ann Lichty
The Theater was, very clean, well staffed with friendly, helpful glad people. Waiting to help you!
J Johnson
The Alabama Theater is a beautiful old theater that has been restored. It's a great place for a concert or movie. The only caveat is that if you are 6 foot or taller or a bigger person, do not try to sit in the upper two balconies. The seats and legroom are very small in those areas.
Litha P
Each time I go. I always enjoy myself. People there are friendly and professional.
John Gray
The Alabama theater is a great place to watch Christmas movies they've done a great job restoring the place it's wonderful.
Kristina Black
I grew up going to the Fox in Atlanta, and this place has a very similar vibe in aesthetics and acoustics. The clientele is way more relaxed, which is good and bad. Way less snooty than the Fox, but they also weren't savvy enough to politely shut up when the first act came on.
LT Sams
Great time,
The organ and organist were fantastic.
The venue was a tribute to the arts.
latonya megginson
Beautiful place. But the seating there is to be desired. Very uncomfortable
Alicia Jackson
It was my first time being there My Grandson class went too A play there I really admire the elegance of the building. Some of the women from our church has plans too go back for a Christmas play. Really excited.
Celia Hay
Went to see a showing of "White Christmas" and the whole evening there was so entertaining and enjoyable! The whole place is awesome and the staff is so polite. Can't wait to visit again.
Victor Hardy
Such a beautiful theatre. Always a great time here. Ushers are so friendly as are all those involved in making your experience great!
Ronald Redd
My wife and I loved this theatre. The atmosphere and the ushers were awesome. Be sure to get there early for your big night, there is only one way in so it could take some time. There are several bars inside, so you don't have to go to the first one you see. We loved this place and intend to see more shows here, when available.
chris walker
I loved everything about it. The street art was amazing the murals were excellent and the signage was informative. It could've been more clean around the location but still it was beautiful. Will be going back after covid to go on the inside and enjoy it all over again.
Camellia Kirk-Wilder
This was an amazing experience. My husband and I took our daughter and grandson to see "Home Alone " on the big screen, and the organist and the sign along was Devine.
Ben Stage
Good times, always entertaining watching movies here. We rotate Elf, Die Hard, and Christmas Vacation, and they added Smokey and the Bandit earlier in the year!
Miguel Patiño
A must see in Birmingham area. A very well renovated and mantenied theatre with spectacular decorations. Is part of the city cultural heritage.
Paula “The Traveling Unicorn” Moore
I saw my first movie here when I was 3 - "Bambi". I didn't see another one there again until I was in college - "Gone With the Wind". I'm 52 now, & this theater is just as beautiful today as it's ever been. A diamond in the middle of downtown Birmingham, Alabama! I tell everyone who is coming here to try to visit Her if they can.
Karla Perry
Always such a fun experience. I love listening to the organ before the movies begin. Make sure to take time to walk around all the different levels and take in the art work before you leave.
Kathy Lynn Savage
I love the whole energy of the Theater. The architecture is incredible, acoustics are amazing, its just a wonderful experience overall!!! Saw Kip Moore last night after Devin Dawson opened, both were exceptional artists!
Cliff Anderson
Awesome theater... even the cheap seats have good acoustics and visibility.... provided the guy in front of you doesn't have a giant head.
Lisa Crymes
Highly recommend a visit to alabama theatre. Where else can you experience a Wurlitzer Opus 1783. It’s as if you are stepping back in time. The theatre often shows old movies - an amazing experience.
Nicole Tyler
A Birmingham classic! Especially at Christmas time. Love coming here for the Christmas movies. The theatre is gorgeous and well maintained.
Lance Adams
This theater is just fun!! I've been here many times over the years but most recently the Christmas movies shown each December are a relaxing, easy, entertaining way to share your favorite movies with friends, family, or a date night out. Arrive early!
Great acoustics for concerts when the sound for the show is well done. I recently saw Jack White's band, The Raconteurs, and I was impressed at how perfect the acoustics and sound were for such a loud concert.
Overall - a great experience!
Charles Scott Webster
I've been going here for at least 30 years. From children's theater in elementary school, to Christmas movies, Jim Brickman and Amy Grant, even Casablanca and Titanic. Pink Floyd laser experience and most recently JoKoy. This is one of my favorite places in Alabama.
Randy Latner
This is always such a great venue. It has the old theatre charm and there really isn't a bad seat in the house. We prefer the floor or side mezzanine seating if we get the chance to go to a concert or play. Only negative is bathrooms are either in the basement or all the way up stairs.
Christopher Shadrick
Very nice place to attend year-round, especially at Christmas time you must go at Christmas
zac spain
One of the best things to see if you're from out of town, and one of the best places to go if you're a local. I've been going here for years and nothing beats the aesthetic appeal everywhere you look, or the always polite staff. Tonight I went with my family to see the Nutcracker Ballet, and I believe it will be one of my fondest memories from now on.
Lee Hathcock
Every single visit to the beautiful Alabama Theater has been a pleasure. The show, the unimaginable presteen condition of this historical landmark, the organ music, the clean restrooms and awesome refreshments. I love it!
Brad Headley
This is the true treasure of Birmingham. What an absolutely beautiful place. There is nothing like seeing old movies in this theatre.. White Christmas, The Wizard of Oz, Sound of Music. It was like stepping back in time
Jamie Frost
Absolutely beautiful, sound was great and I was completely in love with the building n artwork
Mr V
Beautiful, classic theater that has been maintained well. Even the vestibule outside the restrooms is handsome. The place was clean, with good sound and lighting during my visit to see Postmodern Jukebox (great show by the way). Plenty of help from the unobtrusive ushers.
Diana Gonzalez
Such a beautiful theater! It's like stepping back in time. And the size is great... every seat has a good view!
Austin Smith
If you can get the seats on the mezzanine that's the best spot in my opinion. The nachos are good but people starts to stare at you after the second crunch just fyi.
Rebecca Moore
My first time & it was a beautiful venue. We saw Jackson Browne. Ticketmaster won't let me pull my tickets up or I would list my seat #'s. We sat on the bottom in the very back on the lefthand side. It was very convenient as a door was right beside us but we were the end of the row that ended shorter than the regular rows so we were the only ones I saw use that door. We could see & hear everything beautifully. The concessions moved very quickly. The bathrooms (in the basement) were very big & clean. We got there early & bar hopped (walking) beforehand. All of the ushers & employees of the Alabama Theatre were nice & helpful. I would definitely recommend this venue & plan on returning!!
Brian Reid
Absolutely amazing and beautiful theater. The sound was great while seeing Jackson Browne. The seating is perfect. To sit in such an historical place and see one of my all time favorite singers was a a great birthday gift. The parking was literally around the corner for just $8 (the Mcwaine Center).
Mary Carelli
It is an experience to see the old classic movies back on the big screen. The theater harkens back to a time when the theater was a place that captured American audiences. The organ still played before every show.
Ronald Burton
great place for seeing a movie. enjoyed watching and listening to the wurlitzer organ will be sure to let family and friends know what a jewel Birmingham has
Patrick A
A great way to spend time with family. A way to bring back your childhood movies on the big screen.
P.S. Die Hard is a Christmas movie.
Eric Oneal
Love this historic venue! Great place for a show or movie. Beautifully restored
Dana Belcher Realtor 205.910.3358
One of #BirminghamAl best iconic landmarks. It’s perfect for events and going to see classic movies. It’s right in the sweet spot of downtown, next to McWane Science center and has some great condos within east walking distance.
John Graham
Beautiful theater. Anywhere you sit you'll have a good view of the stage.
Lynn Wray Dillard (Alabama Creeks)
A national treasure that's a feast for the eyes. The staff was so kind and really fun to chat with. And the A/C is beyond efficient so take a jacket if you chill easily.
Adam West
While we weren’t here for a production or a show. My company was renting the theater for a video which our corporate was filming. The staff were exceptional and extremely accommodating to our schedule that was changing. Glenny was our main contact who was an absolute delight. She helped the out of town corporate crew with everything they needed and provided us with so much insight to the history of the theater. She gave us so much information that we had no idea about. She even took us across the street to the Lyric to give us a tour and a history lesson. If you are considering using this for any event, I would highly recommend it. A big shoutout to Glenny for all the help she gave to us during this time!!
Annette Mixon
There are no words to describe the beauty of this perfectly restored theater! The pipe organ itself is an amazing experience! A must see in Birmingham!
Daniel
Beautiful, historic theatre in downtown Birmingham. Gorgeous interior and a great variety of events. My personal favorite is the Rocky Horror Picture Show Masquerade Ball on Halloween. Definitely worth a visit.
Matt Howard
Love the Alabama Theater. Great place to watch a movie, a concert, or anything else. Very nostalgic.
Lazlow Wandschneider
It's 100 years old. So you can't compare it to any other theater. The seats are sort of cramped (minus 1 star for that) but the atmosphere is why you go there. Also before and after the show they have a concert on a huge organ that rises up out of the floor. You don't find that just anywhere.
Bruce Lollar
The Nutcracker was amazing. The Alabama was more beautiful than ever with the Christmas decorations.
Crystal Carroll
Awesome concert experience! I will definitely be back!
Katlyn
Absolutely best venue in Birmingham in my opinion! Classy atmosphere and experience. Not too big, not too small.
Lätham Woodling
This is a really neat venue. The seats are a little tight, but other than that it's great. Beautiful architecture.
Martin Santana
Beautiful old theater that's well kept. Didn't like the way the chairs are aligned one behind the other instead of misaligned for better viewing
LuckyAF FPV
Beautiful piece of Birmingham history. Built in 1927 by Paramount pictures to show silent films. But now there all kinds of shows and productions. Just check online for details!
Ashley Bowen
Went there to see John Crist. He was hilarious and the venue was absolutely beautiful!
Elizabeth Douglas
There’s no place like the Alabama Theatre! It truly is “the showplace of the south!” This gorgeous, historic theatre has been completely restored to the glory of its heyday. The theatre itself is spacious with tiered balconies to accommodate a large audience. They have special events - concerts, weddings, etc, in addition to a classic film series, Christmas movie season, and much more. The theatre’s 17th street sign (original to the building and removed in 1957) was recently replaced, making it even more spectacular. Concessions are inexpensive and classic, along with a bar offering mixed drinks. The opulence of this place is something that’s rare to see in today’s modern age, a throwback to stylish luxury. Visiting is a real treat, and I do so often. You’ll also find plenty of lots and street parking when you come, but do arrive early and buy tickets well before any event or movie as they sell out fast!
Martha Everett
This theater is immaculate with so many different details
BJ Smith
Was a great venue for the Dwight Yoakum concert! Beautiful building.
Asa Sargent
Fantastic and historic place. You are missing out if you have yet to visit the Alabama Theatre.
Troy Ziglar
Easy to park, staff were helpful, they need to upgrade speakers, initially was hard to hear in the cheap seats, got very warm and yes I'm physically fit. Bathrooms were outdated I don't mind retro just don't like standing Shoulder to shoulder to use the restroom.
Candace Knowles
Cute place. We went during the Christmas movie showings. We went about an hour before show time and got a parking spot across the street from the theatre.
Loyce Petrey
Great place for a concert. Tons of history. Highly recommended.
Paula Stone
Great place for the whole family. Staff was very nice. Went with my grandson’s school trip, enjoyed it very much.
Carla R
I used to go to Alabama Theater every Christmas with my Mama, daughter, sister, best friend, and a bunch of other family members and friends to see It's a Wonderful Life. The only movie my Mama ever wanted to see. She would make fresh pralines that would melt in your mouth and put them in baskets and make sure that there was enough to go around. We would meet and eat somewhere before we would all pile in cars together to ride to Birmingham to the Beautiful Alabama Theater. We always got there in time for the sing-along with the organ. The Alabama Theater is like stepping back in time with the beautiful light fixtures and the pop up organ out of the stage. It is just breathtaking.
My Mama died in October 2011 and I went a few times without her, but it's just not the same. Though a group does continue to go. I will never forget the first time I went and stepped foot inside the Alabama Theater, that memory will stay with me forever.
Beatriz Puche
This place os gorgeous. They play movies (check their website to see whichones and when) and it couldn't be any better. We went to see Casablanca on Valentine's Day and truly enjoyed the experience.
Saprina Bowman
Beautiful architecture had everyone taking pictures of the theater itself before the concert! Restrooms are downstairs, not sure if there's an accessible way to get there. Nice thing for women is that they had a sign showing there were another 22 stalls down the hall from the first women's room you find. Note for plus size people is that an old theater means tight seating.
Olivia Hand
Beautiful and historic place. Be aware though, if you are seeing a concert here the audio and sound might not be as ideal since it is a theatre. All musicals, plays and shows etc. seem to be perfect.
Zach Bryant
Had a great time at the theater. It is quite beautiful and a great atmosphere. I found myself looking around at all the details prior to the show start. My only complaint was with the entry process. The line stretched around the building and took almost 30 mins to get through the security check...they were so backed up they had to start the show 30 min late because most of the audience was still in line to get in. So you may want to get there right when the doors open.
Curt Granger
Historic, legendary, beautiful. Great sounding venue. You just have to go expereice it.
Lewus Steve
Great fun for any event but especially the holiday series
Donald Barger
Excellent venue for movies and concerts. This is a very old theatre but historic. I love going to the Alabama Theatre.
Eric Napier
Incredible historic venue. Been seeing performances here nearly 30 years. Just saw the Wizard of Oz in Technicolor. The Alabama was built by Paramount in 1927. It's an incredible journey into what "going to the theater" used to be like before Carmike, AMC and $17 popcorn. You won't regret visiting the Alabama Theater. It also has the largest pipe organ in the southeast!
Jennifer Hallman
There is so much I could say about this place. The ambiance is to die for and the organist is the best I've ever heard. Not only is he a great player, but he is a performer and very funny. I have been multiple times to see Christmas movies and various other things. I can't wait for my next trip here!
Michael Shelby
Always a great place to see a show or movie. Great staff. As beautiful as ever. Holiday movies are so fun to watch.
Darren Smith
Awesome place. Loved the ambiance of this theater. Great event.
Kim Rosser
Beautiful venue. Love the Christmas and summer movies.
Joshua Davis
Absolutely beautiful place to see a show.
Kimeisha Crum
The AL Theater is such a historic and beautiful place! It means so much to the state of AL. I decided to have my reception at The Hill Event Center @ AL Theater and it was EVERYTHING that I could ask for. Glenny Brock was a doll to work with and my guest couldn't be happier with the way the night went. Thanks to AL Theater and their sweet staff especially Glenny & Stacy for their hospitality!
SarahHutchinson 7
Saw the Hanson brothers in concert here. It was a great venue and a great show. Staff was super friendly.
gale gallager
Smaller venue than what I am used. Seems to have great seats no matter where you sit.
John Jackson
One of the most beautiful buildings I have ever been in.
I went with my wife to a concert. I can't wait to go again. I'm definitely booking a tour after Covid restrictions have been lifted.
james willis
We had so much fun. Beautiful theater. Everyone should see at least one Christmas movie here. Only complaint was the line to get drinks takes a bit longer than expected. It wasn't enough to deter me from every going back though. Will definitely see more movies here
Jody Hill
An awesome, historical venue that is perfect for movies, concerts, and more!!
Michael H
Such a Beaitiful place!! I've been going there since I was 9. Now, 50yrs later I Love it as much or more than even then. Help 'em out...go there. Also, check out the Lyric right across the street. They BOTH are wonderful, Beautiful Gems worth preserving....
Richard Bryant
This is a gorgeous theater I enjoyed it I will be returning
Phillis Anderson
Looks good inside, still. Air was circulating, made me feel comfortable.
Pam Moore
Great venue for all. Especially the Christmas series
Heather K
Was just here for the Shipt Beyond conference. Beautiful place. Reminded me of the Fox Theatre in Detroit. Stunning architecture and well taken care of.
Danny Milligan
Had a great time! Song straight no chasers in concert
katandthefids everything2cellos
Attended a great concert, the venue was very good. Merch table should have been closer to the front entrance. Sound crew should have been warned that drums and bass would overwhelm a bit much. They might have been excellent at the mixing booth but not so much elsewhere. This seems to be an ongoing issue with smaller venues. Signage should have been better to let people know there was another bar upstairs. Drinks should have lids; I've seen it at other venues, so I know it's doable.
Christy Delapaz
I took my mother who is 85 now. She lived in Birmingham when she was in 3rd grade and used to go to this theater every Saturday to watch a double feature and she said one Saturday a month she would see the Mickey Mouse Club.
The theater is beautiful. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I also would like to thank the officer's working when Jo Koy was there for assistance with letting me know when our car pulled up.
Brooks Rivers
Went there for Weird Al concert. Very nice place
Wes Watkins
This is one of the most beautiful theaters that I have ever been to. There is not a bad seat in the house. If a band you like is playing there, you better take the opportunity to go. It is an amazing experience.
Thomas Belasco
What an amazing location to see a concert. Venue was beautiful and the people were wonderful. Jason Isbell was an outstanding show.
Gina Emerson
Beautiful venue, prices are so affordable $9 movie, soda large popcorn $6. Nice alternative to the summer heat.
Alem Starling
Jo Koy 🌎 Tour...for real, like for real go watch it! And put your phone away and LIVE in the moment!!! #GhostD #ifykyk …
Shawn Price
Had a great time with the kiddos watching Christmas cartoons!
Kevin Long
A step back in time. Wonderful experience.
Samuel Tingle
Great historic theatre. Well maintained and great venues.
Christine Wilson
My husband and I attended a comedy show there. The theater is beautiful!
Lory Honnoll
A wonderful experience and will definitely be repeating in the future.
John Phillips
The facility was very nice and clean. Only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the seats are very small and squeezed together, I have more room from a seat on an airplane.
Mike Hill
This really is the "Show place of the South"!! Thank you to All that helped to restore and maintain the old girl. If you haven't been or haven't been in a while....Please try her out. The Lyric across the street is just as lovely....
Seth Campbell
My favorite venue in the Ham. I love the rustic values of the theater and the step back in time you take when you walk through the doors. Very helpful staff.
Jeff T
11-5-21 Air Supply live in concert.
Had a safe and trouble free 5-6 minute walk to and fro our hotel, the Elyton, after dark around 7pm and 9:45pm.
The theater's sign runs several stories up the front of the building and lights the area in a dynamic display of changing colors.
The historic charm found every where inside was not lost on modern comfort and amenities from climate and restrooms to stage lighting and sound.
After the show, several restaurants and lounges were open. We chose The Moon Shine rooftop bar open til midnite on this Friday evening.
Wouldn't hesitate at all to repeat this entire evening again. Bravo to the staff at the Alabama Theater and to the downtown Birmingham hotels and restaurants nearby.
Angel Garrison
Beautiful place to see a concert! The service and seating was great for me.
Jamie
Great movie. Good popcorn. Nice people at concession stand. Weird thing is you have to leave your umbrella at the door but it was still there when I left so no big deal. Good price on summer classic movies.
Matt Brown
Great show! Sal Vulcano was amazing.
Fred Lewis
Love this place. Take advantage of any opportunity to attend functions at the Alabama.
Phaydra Tice
Always love going. My daughter does competition dance and in the spring we are there almost every weekend... staff and venue are amazing
Bryant Hill
Awesome, beautiful experience. Almost like taking a trip back in time. Loved it!
Melissa Brock
It is beautiful, historic, and well maintained. I'm so happy we have this treasure in Alabama!
Keith Bridges
A blast from the past, use to go often when I was young and have not been there in probably 45 years, it was a great experience, more than I could remember from years ago.
Grant Mosier
Beautiful Theatre. Christmas Movies are must see.
Brittany Wolch
The building is absolutely stunning. It feels like your stepping back in time as soon as you enter the theatre. The cartoons , singalong and organ performance before the show is a rare and fun experience. I could just sit in this theatre for hours admiring how beautiful it is. It is such a great piece of history for this city. They have free parking in a lot across the street designated for the theatre visitors, they have plenty of security and the staff is very friendly!
Sarah MacLaughlin
The venue was absolutely gorgeous. Hanson put on an excellent concert.
Cynthia Perry
I haven't been in the Alabama Theater in over 40 years I went to my granddaughters graduation and I was amazed by how beautiful it looks
Bryan Crowson (CrowsonART Studios)
Very nice historical venue! Saw the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra perform in the Classical Mystery Tour with the faux Beatles!
Jonathan Shafer
Great spot for a wedding. Who knew? I was a big fan of the venue for the wedding I saw. The stage was also a fun spot for dancing.
I enjoyed the bar set up in the back of the theater and also thought the venue was nicely decorated.
The theater organ sounded great!
I'd go back for a show when I'm in town next.
Daniel Haas
Historic venue that’s equally as nice for a concert as it is for a Christmas movie.
Maiko Mendoza
The show was great! Entrance was a smooth process and no line to the restrooms. Only one bar in front of the main doors though, so it had a long line.
Deon Wills
This theater is Amazing!!!
Falon Hurst
An absolute beauty. I always enjoy coming here.
James Sparks
My absolute favorite place to see a live show.
Kevin Gardner
Amazingly well restored and a treat to explore and photograph. Be sure to go for a movie so you are treated to the Mighty Wurlitzer!
Curtis Kwasniewski
Amazing venue, wonderful service. If you haven't been here, you need to visit. We will be back. Beautiful building.
Casey Denson
Christmas movies every year - can't beat the experience!
Greg Jordan
Positively beautiful! I attended the JSCC graduation. It was my first time going to the Alabama Theater. I was taken with the pipe organ and the shear beauty of the auditorium.
I'm looking for a reason to go back to it now!
Andrew G
Wow! Such an amazing venue with amazing history. The staff was really friendly and they had a full service theatre with a concession stand. The organ was breath taking! Be sure to try to get in to see it.
John Ethridge
Saw Vince Gill & enjoyed every minute! He is as good as it gets when it comes to country artists!
Cedric Mason
Great places with amazing views had a nice time
Brandi !!
This theater was beautiful. Amazing detail. The best seats are Mezzanine if the floor close to the stage is not an option. I'm my opinion the Mezzanine was best seat in the building. We were from row. Could see and hear everything without tall people or being crowded. My first time here was to see the Miranda Sings tour.
Jake S.
Great historic venue. Concessions were a bit high but the sound was impressive watching a band on the lower level. Some slap back in the higher levels.
Christie Lawless
You need to go to this theater at least once if you live close to or in the Birmingham area. The interior and architecture is simply stunning. The screen is small and it doesn't get as dark as a normal theater. But it's an awesome experience, especially if they have an organist to play!
Steven Downs
We got tickets for Christmas and they're front row balcony, called dress circle, best seats ever to see Styx in 10 minutes.
April L. Butler
This beautiful, historic theatre was built in 1927 and seems to retain the splendor that was originally intended for its guests at that time. Everything from the entry-way to the bathrooms has antique finishes and fixtures. The seating is comfortable and padded, which is nice, and really most seats have a pretty decent view until you start getting into the upper part of the highest balcony, when it can be a strain to see. The concessions have a reasonable amount of snacks, candies, sodas and water, and even a small selection of alcoholic beverages. Since we've been here for a symphony orchestra concert and a dance recital, I can honestly say it's one of my favorite locations for any type of theatrical entertainment. Looking forward to our next visit!
John Bowling
Beautiful venue for the sidewalk film festival
Brittany Windham
BEAUTIFUL!! First time visiting (to my knowledge) and was blown away. Very well maintained and I LOVE the old school feel. Will definitely be planning to attend their Christmas movie shows and look for more live theater options to attend here.
Jean Jenkins
Beautiful old theatre brings back lots of great nostalgic memories. Perfect venue for a night with comedian, Jim Gaffigan!
Bruce Weaver
Great hospitality. Clean and we'll kept to be as old as it is. I really enjoyed watching the Muscle Shoals feature. Learning how the music industry started there along with competition. It was quite interesting to learn about all the musicians who had recorded there.
The last time I went was in 1977 to watch Billy Joel, I think.
Lady's of the night were walking the streets back then which seemed odd to me back then but I found out it was common.
It's a whole different atmosphere now. I'll be going back soon to see some movies.
If the staff reads this I'd like to thank you all for such a great evening.
Gary DeGreen
Went as a family to see the Christmas Classic "White Christmas". Great way to appreciate the season, seeing a classic movie in a classic theater.
Maria Enriquez
Classical Mystery Tour … Excellent
Kelly Parham
The team at Alabama Theatre Event Hall were absolutely suburb to work with. They made my friends wedding day extra special with details of their own that we didn't even consider. They were professional, friendly, flexible, helpful, and very nice. From the security staff, the bar staff, and the house manager, everyone was awesome. Thanks so much!!! I truly recommend everyone to have their event here.
Pam Rissler
This place is beautiful. Near by parking is good.
allen mosley
Beautiful venue. They need to have more or better concessions. Had to wait too long.
Ashley Lott
Beautiful and historic, the Alabama theatre is a great place to visit. I saw the Raconteurs most recently. The dress circle is a great place to sit for both economy of price and view. Just because the venue is classy doesn't mean you can avoid the typical loud, drunk, dancing middle aged woman though ;D
Johnny Tidmore
The restoration is stunning. This special place deserved to be saved.
Ms Q
I have heard about the Alabama Theatre forever and have never been inside. This past Friday I went there for an event and was blown away with the beauty of this venue. Hands down gorgeous. Highly recommend attending events here. I'm now wanting to visit for one of their movie showings just to enjoy the atmosphere of this Birmingham Landmark.
Deborah Gates
It was nice the DD4L All 3 house 🔥🔥🔥😍😍😍 …
Rick Dykes
Such a beautiful, historic place in our city. The restoration work that has been done over the years makes this a special place. But, it the movie nights have always been special. Plan ahead, though. Certain popular movies won’t be easy to get tickets to.
David Vann
Gorgeous old time theater. Must experience.
Craig Winn
Classic and historic venue. This place will transport you to the past if the glory days with the glitz and glamor of the roaring 20’s. You can feel the nostalgia even before you walk into the building. The marquee and signage out front are just amazing. The Owner and leader are passionate about this venue and you can tell it with the details.
Melissa Veach
I love their summer movie series. This place is a must see if you come to Birmingham.
Johnny Lee
Absolutely the most gorgeous theater with amazing art deco design. Gary is awesome on the pipe organ and great for adding alongs.
Tiffany Payne
Great and beautiful venue. Just not ideal for a large dance competition. The dressing areas and backstage are a tight squeeze for 10+ studios with 300+ parents teachers and dancers all trying to move quickly.
Eric Brown
Beautiful facility! Staff was helpful and friendly. Would gladly return for other venues.
Taylor H
Saw Casablanca with my wife on Valentine's Day. Was the perfect setting to see such a classic film.
Joseph Twilley
I only came here to service the alarm, but I would very much like to bring my wife on a date here. This place brings you back to a time when craftsmanship and nostalgia were thriving. Its was like stepping back in time and in a this crazy modern time we live, I could use more of, thanks and I hope you enjoyed your experience as I did at the Alabama Theater since 1912.
Nathan Kawell
An excellent experience of old fashioned theater, best organ in town, and amazing atmosphere. Perfect place to take your family and you'll rarely be at lost to find a good event here. Also, fairly reasonably priced concessions. Highly recommend!
Derek Putnam
Nice small theater. Very intimate.
Jacob Pawelczyk
Beautiful theater in downtown Birmingham
David Gilbert
We enjoyed again “ Home Alone”. The Alabama Theater” is a treasure!
Mary Minderhout
The Alabama Theater is the oldest in Alabama. It has been beautifully restored. Starting with the lit sign outside and the entering the theatre you get the feeling you've stepped back in time. The carved wood and the acoustics that lend that regal sound makes you stop and imagine the original opening night of this majestic theatre. Then Big Bertha the organ so lovingly named rises up out of the floor. The organ master tells a little history of the theatre and organ. Then plays and we sing along on this night it was Christmas carols. As we wait for the movie White Christmas to begin the smells of the popcorn popping wafts in from the entry way. We had popcorn, soda, hotdogs, and candy for all of us on our group. The lights dim and the curtain parts to display this huge movie screen. The sound in the theatre is simply amazing. It makes other theatres wish they could be so melodious. Let me tell you if you have not experienced it for yourself you haven't experienced a real theatre ever. I can't describe how awe inspiring it is enough. This is something that you need to experience for yourself. While your there take the time to look at it and marvel at the ornate design for yourself.
Julie bryant
A truly magical place! ✨️
Doug Hicks
Great experience, love the old architecture and the organ playing before and after the show.
Darisha Crooms
Very nice Historical building. The seating wasn’t so great in the Mezzanine section. I was in attendance in a sold out show, but the way the chairs were set up, myself and many other people had to look over someone’s shoulder, in between couples or had to sit on top of their chair to actually see the stage. For the price I paid for my tickets, I was very disappointed with my seat!
John Pittman
Great venue for the Sidewalk Film Festival. I have also loved watching the occasional musical performance and classic film here as well. Great environment for entertainment
Sam Ward
Beautiful theater! Birmingham's most well known theater with the Lyric across the street too! You want to sit in the first mezzanine on one of the side wings, the view is incredible! They play a summer movie series and a series at Christmas time. I love going to see White Christmas! Also, make sure you visit the restroom lobby, it's haunted!
Catie Rice
Beautiful place. Bertha sounds absolutely magical and is so fascinating! (and that's coming from someone who is not a huge organ fan at all!) The man who plays her reminds me of someone from a classic movie. So sweet and knowledgeable.
Kassady Gibson
I absolutely love the Alabama Theater! My grandmother grew up going here, and I still feel the charm that I'm sure she experienced. It's a wonderful venue for events, photography, and their summer movie series for kids is one of my favorite things to do in the city.
Bess Griffin
My mother was 3 years old when the Alabama opened. I am glad this Birmingham landmark was preserved. I love history. Everyone needs to learn about the past.
Brenda Lynn
This place is so beautiful. They don't build places like this anymore.
Ashley Murphy
I love every experience I've ever had here! Especially at Christmas!!
johnathan elliott
Great looking venue on the inside of the theatre. The big downside is the crazy slow bar. We waited in line for over 30 minutes for a drink and missed alot of the opening act. Also, the large mixed drink are 12oz, that's with ice to the top, for $16 . How the hell can that be a large?
Amy Materson
Beautiful old venue. I would recommend going a few minutes early if you plan to take advantage of the bar or concessions, and picking up everything you need. The wait during concerts can make you miss large portions of the show.
Lisa Bennett
If you have never been GO! Big Bertha alone is worth the visit. Summer movies and Christmas movies are a family tradition that we Love.
Tom Mclemore
Awesome setting, not a bad seat in the house. Truly a hidden gem in Birmingham.
Morgan Haynes
The decor is breathtaking. When I walked in, I felt like I was in a palace. There are three or four floors, and each floor had something interesting that caught my eye. The whole building is very interesting, and it's neat to just walk around and look at everything. The movie itself was of great quality, and the Wulitzer organ was awesome and provided fun music to sing along to. It provides a great experience, and Lord willing I plan on coming back many more times. It's great for families, but keep in mind, they serve alcohol.
Dan Garnand
Very nice!
Jacqueline Cottle
Historically beautiful building. Architecture is gorgeous. I love to visit say any opportunity. I was there for Dance Foundations 2021 dance recitals.
Lisa Elaine Hopkins
This was absolutely a beautiful theater
Brandi Baker
LOVE visiting at different seasons throughout the year with my family! On of our top traditions is POLAR EXPRESS in December! Such a nostalgic atmosphere that you truly feel the history from a time period that we never got to experience! ALSO Wizard of Oz, Cartoon Matinee, and Disney Classics, AND SING-A-LONGS with Big Bertha (pipe organ) top as our favorites at our Alabama Theather! A GREAT experience and priceless MEMORY each and every visit!
Carmen Garcia
This is one of the most beautiful theaters I've ever been in. If you go for a movie here, you will get to see the original organ that is still in use from the 1920's. A wonderful experience for the whole family.
Tiger Dog 91
Very nice, Historic theater located in the heart of Downtown Birmingham. The homeless/beggers hang around there but it's worth the trip...
Gloria Canul
The show we went so see wasn't much to talk about, but I loved the location. It was clean, the prices at concessions were reasonable, and it's a beautiful place. It was fun to go and look at the architecture. I'd recommend it.
Chris Ladd
It is very nice. Great place to have shows or any other type of gatherung.
Sean McKim
My wife and I really enjoy coming to the Alabama. I'm so glad it was saved and is still being restored to its former glory.
The Christmas movie series is always fun. Concerts sound great inside the theater.
The wurlitzer is amazing.
Hunter Collins
Went to Sidewalk Fest to see the director's cut of Midsommar. The movie was fantastic and Alabama Theater is gorgeous but the crowd was awful and unbearable, hard to enjoy the movie, I feel bad for anyone who was there to see it for the first time. Should consider getting rid of the ability to drink in the theater as it ruins the viewing experience.
Janie Graves
We attended the Cody Jinks concert last night. The building is absolutely beautiful. However, you should be prepared to climb up and down stairs to go to the restrooms. I never saw an elevator in the building (not saying there is not one), so if you have any physical limitations or use a wheel chair then you should take this into consideration. We had to pay $10.00 to park directly across the street. The building got very hot with so many people in it trying to move around. In my opinion, this is not a good place to have a concert where alcohol is served. The seating would be more comfortable if the seats were just a little larger and there was more leg room.
John McDole
Always a pleasure to visit the Alabama. One issue is that by the end of the movie we were so cold we couldn't wait to get outside. The temperature was cool when we arrived but the AC never went off, had to tuck my hands under myself to warm them. Beautiful place, a must see for out of towners but if staying for a movie long sleeves are advised. And yes, we all had long pants and shoes.
Leslie Shirley
So Beautiful! The organ is absolutely amazing!
Christy Harrison
Beautiful. Especially around Christmas.
Merrilyn Cook
This is truly a beautiful and historic landmark of Birmingham. It's a great event place, too!
Olivia Hagerty
I visited this theatre for the first time for a podcast show and found it charming. It was very decorated and pretty small compared to the theatres I’ve been to. It was in need of some detail maintenance for sure. Chipped pint here and there that was pretty noticeable. There was something wrong with my boyfriend’s chair and he had to switch to a new ome. The concessions were well priced for sure. We got a popcorn, candy, water and beer for only $14!it was hard to find parking at first because we were from out of town but we figured it out in enough time to see the show on time. Overall, a decent theatre.
Edward DeMellier
Beautiful old theater lovingly restored. The mighty Wurlitzer organ, Big Bertha, makes wonderful music. The venue hosts many different shows and concerts. The summer movie series is always fun. Catch a show, make a donation.
Em RamZee
This venue can't be beat for live performances. The acoustics are awesome. The history of the Alabama theatre adds to the charm and the ambience. I love seeing my favorite artists here. Jackson Browne was no exception. He played some of his set, but also you audience requests. Hard to believe he's been doing what he di does so well for so long. Can't wait to see him again.
Scott Seeley
Beautiful. Clean, comfortable and very helpful n friendly staff. Parking can be a pain. But totally worth the effort
Billy Focia
Very nice venue. Seats are good almost any where so dont feel like you have to pay for front row. If you want alcohol preshow, long lines: went to ron white and people where still in line till half way through the show. It was fun.
Robert Evans
Love this nostalgic theater, a visit is like a journey to the past.
Leisa Crossley (esbegirl)
I've been coming to this theatre since childhood. My first enchantment with cinema began in the seats of this place. It is truly exciting to be able to share it with my grandchildren now.
Turn off your cell phone and enjoy being transported to a different time and place.
The Theatre has been lovingly restored and is certainly a gem in the Birmingham area.
Charlotte Mizell
Beautiful as always. Clean facilities and well organized events. Staff is always welcoming and helpful.
rustyward4au1
Great venue for concerts. Sound is amazing. Go early and walk around and see the architecture.
Surrunnie Gardner
This is a very beautiful place!! I love the architectural designs on the inside of the building.
Baker Hull
Saw the original Phantom of the Opera today with LIVE ORGAN accompaniment for the whole movie . Incredible organist Tom Helms, incredible Mighty Wurlitzer!
We always go to White Christmas, have only missed a year or two the past 35 years and always enjoy the sing-along with house organist Gary Jones. It isn't Christmas season for us until we've been to The Alabama for W.C. But hearing the organ provide the sound track for a silent movie was something else. Also loved the pre-show with a few ghouls and a thundering rendition of Toccata and Fugue. The volunteers and staff were first class as always.
Definitely the top treasure in Bham.
Justin Taylor
Awesome historic movie theater. Much like the Saenger theaters, very ornate. It has become a Christmas tradition to come watch It's A Wonderful Life in the old place. Very fun, plus a bar that serves drinks and food.
Rebecca
Architecturally stunning historic theatre that I've been attending since I was a kid. There's always some event or another — concerts, movie screenings, etc. — being offered, and soaking in the atmosphere of the venue is half the fun. On my top three places to visit for out-of-towners (especially around Christmas!).
Snow Wilson
Family night. We absolutely love the movies played here. Hubby and I always attend date night at the Theater. Beautiful building, great staff, who knows how to mix a drink!! You have to visit while in town!
Jan Parks
It's always fun to see a show here... It doesn't even feel strange to me because movie theaters all used to be like this! The sound and lights are all top-notch!
Joey Amberson
Awesome, historical piece of Alabama! Love going to the movie series they have in the summer and around Christmas. The mighty Wurlitzer organ is a nice touch of uniqueness as well. Would definitely recommend anything here.
tripp wojohn
Pretty nice venue, but beware if you have any difficulty AT ALL with major amounts of stairs.
Geoffrey Rodgers
Great concert, and the Alabama Theater is a wonderful venue. I was a little confused that there were no concessions available, though. Definitely could have used some bottled water after scream singing for an hour, ha ha!
Mark Sigmund
Attending the Rocky Horror Picture Show was my first time visiting the Alabama Theater. Wow, what a beautiful building. I have been in five other Vintage Theaters throughout the Midwest, and the Alabama Theater ranks in the top five. Did not hear the organ play, but I have heard legandary accounts from other theater goers marvel upon the playing of the organ.
Emerson Oliver
This is a beautiful old theater. Love the architecture and setup. If we lived in Birmingham we would find more excuses to go. Theres no immediate parking but theres a small pay to park lot at the end of the block. There's a great coffee shop across the street near by the pay lot.
Charles Jones
Beautiful, Historic and not a bad seat in the House . Excellent concessions for drinks wine and food.
clearence lee
Beautiful atmosphere and interior will visit again comfortable seating
Olivia Buchanan
Gorgeous venue! Saw a Manchester Orchestra concert here in the 3rd row and that was an amazing experience
Matt Jones
This is definitely one of my favorite things to do in Birmingham, after living here for six years. It's a beautiful palace theater . If you go for one of their movie series, go a half hour early or more, just enjoy walking around and looking at the building, the staircases, the mirrors in the lobby, and even the restrooms.
The sound could be better throughout the theater for sure, but this is a traditional hundred year old building. If you want the best sound, try to get there a little earlier and sit closer to the front on the lower level. It almost doesn't matter, because the place is just beautiful. If you are a music nerd like me, be sure to set closer to where the Wurlitzer organ rises up out of the stage floor for the pre-movie sing-along, easily best feature of the night.
They have a whole series of films which they show at Christmas, and we usually make it to two or three of them. Nothing like a night at the Alabama theatre.
Brad E.
Always fun! Their movie series are always great selections. The nostalgia there is second to none. Such a cool venue with incredible history and great entertainment. A proud part of Birmingham!
James Bennett
One of the finest places to see music in the south. I've had many a magical night here. STS9, Ben Harper, Modest Mouse have been some highlights. If you really love your live shows to sound pristine avoid the upper balcony and go for the floor or better yet the mezzanine.
Angie Lorena CV
It was a beautiful experience to go to the Alabama theatre with the whole family to watch the movie "White Christmas"
Staci Henson
Beautiful venue! Great family outing. Will definitely make this a tradition.
Brandi Chava Usher
We had a really fun time at the Grease Sing-along! We've been here numerous times. Tonight we celebrated my 15yo daughter's birthday and enjoyed every minute of it!
Pamela Richter
Other than John Travolta's team of crybabies, (he was filming part of a movie in the rain. In front of the Theater.) Complaining about the dance team's, & family and friends there to watch & participate in "The National Dance off."
Where I might add, one team danced to two Grease song's that John sang. Rather than complain, why not jump on stage and dance with the kids?
Would have brought the house down!
Rather, everyone wants to know the name of the movie so they don't waste their money to go watch it.
Sorry John, Travolta's assistance. Maybe you shouldn't be complaining about the Southern people who don't know when to get out of the way. When you are surrounded by them!
The theater is spectacular. Definitely has been kept to the theme of the time period it was built.
Very nice to see, once.
Kathryn Doornbos
No matter the event, this place always rolls out the red carpet. Incredibly ornate interiors, not a bad seat in the house and an event roster that will keep you coming back for more. The only thing that could be improved is the sound system for the movie showings (not very crisp) but usually you are here to see a movie that you know and love, so this is a minor issue. The staff here are always so excited to have you, the bar selection is complete with local beer and the experiences to be had are lifelong memory inducing.
haylee Campbell
Its so beautiful and its authentic I definitely recommend going here
Benjamin Meade
Wonderful place, wonderful experience. There's a small snack bar with limited snacks and popcorn and sodas. The interior is beautiful and worth exploring. A fantastic atmosphere and a great place for kids to visit as well, especially during the Christmas season.
Tammy Meyers
LOVED IT!!! It was beautiful and a wonderful experience. My only negative comment is the seats are very comfortable; however, there is NO arm space! Everyone had to set with their arms crossed.
Collins Batchelor
Great theater. Good service.
I do think the ushers should be more proactive about not letting people just stand in front of the stage when they didn't buy tickets for those seats.
Jason “Stretchy” Anderson
Still a beautiful theatre.
Chuck Cothren
Best concert I have been to in years. Love Vince Gill. You need to have special events like this one as the Alabama is such a fabulous and historic market of our great State.
Matthew Britt
My family loves the Alabama Theater! From romance classics on Valentines Day to Christmas favorites in December - seeing a movie there is quite a treat not to mention a live event! You'll always be warmed by the sounds of "Big Bertha" the pipe organ which is worth the price of admission. This is a can't miss opportunity!
Marcus McC
Showplace of the South! Greatest Architecture in Alabama! Historic structure with wonderful and interesting past. Now with TWO signs! Best seen at night for full effect. Truly beautiful way to be transported to times gone by.
Becky Bender
I had great experience with the manager he was so helpful making sure I was comfortable. Alot of the women working in the front were just down right rude I asked could I have a seat and wait for my husband because I can't stand long and he was parking the car. They told me no not without a ticket but the guy taking tickets ushered me to a couch to wait for my husband with the tickets. Alot of the women there have zero customer service and refer every problem to ticket Master. Still giving 4 stars be because the manager was great
George Hubbert
Great venue...balcony seating...not a bad seat in the place!
Mark Reed
This has been called by some "the most beautiful building in Alabama." The 1927 building has been lovingly restored. This means that to visit the restrooms, you must trek down the stairs to the basement. The theatre has no dedicated parking, so prepare to park on the street or in a pay lot or garage.
Food options nearby improved recently with the opening of the Pizitz Food Hall a couple of blocks away.
Jason Morgan
Amazing place and history made a great venue for the kids dance competition.
Kevin Stober
Great place to see Concerts..like Toto
lea finch
Such a special atmosphere.
Courtney Bennett
Beautiful building! Would love to come back for movies.
Carol Caffee
Theater is beautiful. Lines for an hour to buy drinks is rediculous. Band concert from the balcony meant audience blocks your view in loud talking, cell phone sharing takes away from the show. Buy lower floor tickets!
ABC 123
Good place no need to say more
Carey Daniel
Who doesn't love the Alabama Theater? Classic beauty!
Telea England
Always a beautiful day at the Alabama Theatre! Enjoyed the Christmas Movies!
Lee, Moore Sr. Founder: No Rules Internet Radio
History lives in The Magic City at The Alabama Theater !

Very beautiful theatre. The interior of the theater itself is a treat
Jody Clark
Great place to watch a show but kinda rough location with minimal parking
Patrick Weaver
Classic venue, fun and beautiful!
Larry Van Horn
Absolutely beautiful venue. All seats have a good view.
Hugh Benefield
Sidewalk Film Fest was great summer retreat in our own beautiful city. Alabama theater always host a spectacular performance. Glad I volunteered to get to see an exceptional show.
Cynthia Lindblom
Alabama Theater is the most beautiful theater! I grew up going to the movies there. Saturday matnees, popcorn, and a kiddie newsreel! I am so glad they refurbished it and it's still bringing enjoyable shows. The Muttcracker was fantastic!
Christa Lodico
Wonderful rendition of a beautiful classic
Nicolas Barrows
The Alabama Theater is always beautiful. If you ever have a chance to see a movie play or concert here take it! Its a beautiful historic venue and the acoustics are amazing
Erica Wright
Beautiful building, very well maintained and clean. Enjoyed it and a great concert!
Alissa Padgett
We attended several events at the Al Theatre this year. The best one yet was the Grease Sing Along. Concessions were available at every floor, the seats are comfy and the performance was a blast!
Miles Hudson
My favorite place to catch a show. Awesome for live performance or cinema. The intimate setting allows you to experience your favorite artists personally, or discover new favorites. Impress a date, treat someone you care about, or just have fun with friends.
Jon Manuel
Beautifully restored venue
Oriana Brown
Nice venue for the dance competition I attended. My only complaint would be the concession. I wish they had their own concession instead of allowing the dance company to manage concessions. They would probably have more options amd be more organized.
T. Smith
Great place. Always a fun time. Venue is beautiful and there's a restroom on the main level for those in wheelchair/walkers, etc. Concession stand has very reasonable prices, too
Angie Sides
Saw Jackson Browne tonight the show was awesome the only thing that would have made it any better is if he could have kept playing till 5 in the morning or till the end of next week etc great show in a great venue always always always get my money's worth when I go to see a show at the Alabama theater
Amanda Jo Wright
The Alabama Theater is a beautiful historical location. It host many great events... I have never had a bad experience at the Alabama. The organ is awesome.
Richard Moon
An incredibly beautiful venue with great acoustics. Viewing is great even from the balcony. The only drawback is it's a hike from a lot of the seating areas to the restrooms.
Juana Silva
“Christmas Vacation!”
Loved every minute of our visit to watch Christmas Vacation. All of us enjoyed the historic theater, sing along with the wonderful organ and family time watching a new classic
Raymond (optikalblitz)
I have viewed a few movies here and it's a really nice facility. They show classic and modern films here from time to time with special performances on occasion. One of the most ornate and well-kept pieces of Birmingham city history.
Benjamin Williams
Beautiful theater with careful attention to detail throughout (even if showing some signs of aging). Sound from the band was uneven throughout the house; we moved seats to avoid an over-emphasized bass.
Michelle Bate
It was so good to be back in the Theater after so many years of not going. Everyone was so nice.
Courtney Franklin
Always a good time at the Alabama Theatre!
Dean Self
We enjoyed watching the movie and hearing the organ player in such a beautiful place.
Jason Baugh
Very beautiful venue! Food and drink prices not to bad.
Sharon Garrett
Alabama Symphony and Classical Mystery Tour was fantastic, loved every second.
Kat A
Excellent concert by the Piano Guys. Beautiful old theater. It is old so be prepared to walk stairs and not near as nice seats as a new theater but well worth it.
Carole Barnette
Absolutely the most beautiful decor, you must look at everything. Exquisite vintage lighting. Take your time and enjoy this venue.
Wayne Boles
Absolutely superlative. Attended our granddaughters recital there. A very historic and beautiful theater.
P A Pennington
I love the Alabama Theatre!
Any show I have ever attended has been a fantastic experience. I like the theater and the people who go to the theater and the fact that they serve adult beverages.
John Foles
As always this place is great. Do wish they had some nights for "edited" movies. This way we choose to take our kids to see good movies with out some random bad language.
Patty Kittle
It's a great theater
Stewart Pierson
Wonderful venue! Gorgeous historic location and it has been lovingly restored. Everyone in Birmingham should experience a concert here.
Joseph Doane
This is a beautiful venue to visit for any performing art that you would like to see. The seats, however, leave a bit to be desired; they obviously weren't built to support taller folks.
Kevin Webb
The Alabana is fantastic. From the architecture, the acoustics, the incredible Wurlitzer, it is a great experience no matter what type of event you see there. Highly recommended.
MD Strong
Was a great venue! Only drawback was having to park and walk..
TC Furnishings and Design
Very beautiful, historic theater! A must see!
Jessica
Beautiful detailed architecture. Historic landmark that I hope is there forever. I danced in this theater as a child and now my young family does.
Zach McAuley
They don't make them like this anymore! A beautiful theater where every show is really a great experience. In addition to concerts, they still show a lot of old movies and go some neat film series for the holidays etc.
Jason Hickey
The Alabama Theatre is on my top ten things to do in Alabama. The architecture is breathtaking and everyone should experience a movie here at least once in their life.
Niki Jordan
Beautiful place! Went to buy a beer and my license was expired by a day. Wouldn't sell it to me.. So, yeah, great law abiding establishment lol
Samantha Moats
The Alabama Theatre never disappoints; the staff is always kind and helpful. My husband and I had a great time seeing The Sandlot during this year's summer film series.
Amanda Gramstad
We had the pleasure of going to see a movie at the Alabama Theater last night. Love the atmosphere, the people working there and of course Big Bertha the organ and her organist!
Chanda Mitchell
I absolutely love going to the Alabama Theatre. Every Christmas season I go watch a movie or two because it's a great time with family for a great price. Plus the Ambiance is incredible.
Teresa Sweatt
Loved the movie Gone with the wind . my all time favorite. it needed a deep cleaning. Musty smell. Carpet has soured where so many drinks have been spilt.
Elizabeth Seyler
I went there for the Applause Competiton. This was my second time being there, it is always clean and nice. There was some cups and candy wrappers in the walkway, but other than that the place looked nice.
redheaded stepchild
Immerse yourself in the beauty of the 1920's at the Alabama Theatre. The opulence of the decor surrounds you and the shows are intimate in the 2,500 seats. This is a must for locals and visitors alike.
Holli Griffin
That movie was so hilarious
Scout McRoy
Went to the Sidewalk Festival, it was wonderful. The theater is magnificent and kept up very nicely. I'd love to go again.
Stephanie Conner
My sweet husband took me to see White Christmas and it was a wonderful experience.
Erin Belk
This is such a beautiful theatre. There’s not a bad seat in the place. So much history too. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful.
Darlene Richards
Beautiful inside and out!
Brandi Johnson
Excellent visit. Street parking was easy and they decorate the theater so beautifully at Christmas 😊. The concession stand line was pretty chaotic, but overall an excellent visit. …
Nick Dudley
The Christmas movies are a wonderful tradition. I look forward to seeing my Christmas favorites each year. Plan ahead; the shows are starting to sell out.
Jeff Berrys
Great venue. Great night with Three Dog Night!!
Will
Always an amazing event, we go every year to watch White Christmas and thoroughly enjoy it, and notice colors and sounds we didn't know were in the movie.
John Anderson
This is really cool. Old time movie theater. If you can see a film there I highly recommend this. Its a beautiful restored building.
Creed Robbins
Cool building. Cool Welcome to Night Vale show. Surprisingly and incredibly rude head usher, and I don't even care that much about customer service. I was just taken aback by how comically rude this person was, and felt compelled to mention it here.
Carla Bates
Beautiful! Went for Jefferson State College graduation. Everyone should visit this showplace at least once!!
Tipton Huffman
An amazing set of circumstances! My wou fe and I happend to walk by this theatre in August 2017. I peeked in an then stepped into the box office area to get a better look at the lobby. Local volunteer Brian Wilson was at he door and informed us that a film festival was taking place. When I asked to see the lobby he ask if we would like a tour! Wow, we wete blown away by what we saw and heard! A silent movie was playind and the original Wurlitzer accompaning it was amazing. The originaland fully restored deco interior, chandaliers, and decor were amazing. This was truely a high point of pur travels. Thsnk you Brisn!
Tommy Buchanan
If you get a chance to see someone or something you even slightly like, you must go. It's a great venue. Vince Gill was outstanding.
Jess Richardson
This space is gorgeous as other users have mentioned. Also the box office staff and house manager couldn't be more helpful. Wonderful place!
C.J. Nispel
Saw A Christmas Story. Very pretty and ornate atmosphere but felt like I was back in the womb! It was so crowded and the seating is too close quartered for me.
Blake
Went to watch White Christmas. Was an amazing opening with dancers and a talented organist.
Alex Khoury
Fun atmosphere for watching a movie. I bet a live performance would be even better. The theatre is beautiful. I'm looking forward to future events there.
J-F S
Nice, three story theater. Backstage is small, if you need a bunch of space for props. Attached to the McWayne Science museum, which also has a parking garage if needes
