Reviews of Village Theatre
Had a hilarious time at Village Theater. I went to opening night of Improvised Clue and had such a wonderful time. Wadsworth is a delight greeting everyone! Parking is free in the Pencil Loft Parking Deck, it's just a hassle with the new QR code parking system in place. (Not their fault.) Make sure to park in the garage where the leasing office sign is.
Solid group of funnies for an evening show! Improv is hard and I really appreciate these talented folks putting themselves out there to enjoy themselves and to challenge themselves to put joy out in the world. I had a great time and would come back again!
Pretty Talented Folks!
Great experience. Much better than other places I've been to in Atlanta!
Hope they find a new space soon.
Love this place - awesome variety of shows. You'll definitely have a great time.
Great laughs last night! Watched the 5th Circuit sketch comedy show last night. Laughed the whole time! Also got to attend the Q&A with President Trump on his 100th day - he's working on the Canadian boarder Wall to keep out the white walkers haha
beer and tickets are well priced!
Their big show is the main draw, but their improvs are not to be missed. Make a point if you come for the early show of the evening to stay around for the 9 or 10 pm shows following. It is worth your time. It's also set in a good location for restaurants that make it an overall nice experience. Come early, grab a good meal nearby in walking distance, and slide-in for finishing drinks and an amazing show or two or three.
White Label Creative Space is an awesome location for any event. The owner is a great business person to deal with.
I performed in a comedy show here and it was awesome! Thus I will assume all the shows are awesome! And if you're awsome, it might be the place for you. If your not awesome, its a great place for some awesomeness to rub off on you. Main theatre looks to seat 100+, beer and wine bar with standard snacks, and lots of parking in the deck.
Great comedy club. I had the chance to watch some improv by a number of different groups. They had different skill levels, but I think that added to the variety.
It was a good time overall. I would definitely go again, especially considering how affordable it was ($5 at the time of this review).
This place is great. A night out is inexpensive, fun and hilarious. The performers are excellent and the venue is comfortable (with easy parking).
If you are considering taking classes, I recommend it 100%. Improv comedy is a great way to help unlock some of your own potential. It has helped me think quicker in demanding situations and come up with ideas that are outside of the box.
Whether you're looking for a boost in the workforce, want some new funny friends or just an evening of laughs, Village Theatre is the right place.
First visit to Village Theatre last night & thoroughly enjoyed spending date night laughing alongside my partner as competing teams did their best improv comedy based on audience suggestions. The theatre is small but not cramped and I appreciated their craft selection. We will definitely be returning.
Buy the all night ticket you can't go wrong 😁. Small but quaint surroundings, very personable atmosphere. They welcome you and a great wait staff. The comedy is Improv and so spot on. I've been twice now and will definitely be back for round three …
I used to (and still) love coming here for shows on the weekends. Great low-key way to spend a Friday or Saturday night- the performers were consistently hilarious, cool atmosphere and also ridiculously reasonable beer/wine prices. Every time I came to a show I kept saying "That looks like a lot of fun- I want to do that!". So- signed up and started with the level 1 class. I could tell you how much I love the classes, but the fact that I've kept going and just finished level 4 says a lot. The instructors are great, the classes super-fun, and it's been great getting to know my fellow classmates. Some people take the classes because they want to be better speakers, they want to meet people, etc.- all valid reasons for taking an improv class. But I do it because its just so damned fun. Highly recommend this place.
Great venue for comedy shows. The staff is very friendly & the bar was great as well!
The location is great for activities like this. They have many shows that are funny and the owner is great. $15 for all night passes, any amount of shows. Usually not needed to buy tickets online. Parking is in the back for free for visitors in the garage.
I have been taking classes at the Village Theatre for the last year and they are a top notch place. If you are interested in seeing shows, the level of talent here is second to none. There are a ton of guest teams to supplement the already awesome house teams that no matter what your interest, there is a show for you. Prices are reasonable with no in house show more than about $10. Beer and wine starts at $5. Can you beat it? Heck no. If you are interested in classes, the teaching staff here really is WAY above grade. They are professionally trained at some of the greatest theaters in the country. This is more than a theater, it is a family. The only difference is this is a family that you actually WANT to spend the holidays and spare time with.
An absolutely wonderful place. The staff was as friendly and humorous as you could imagine. Everyone that we saw here were all having a wonderful time, including myself. They sell snacks like candy, chips, and gelato ice cream. And yes they serve alcohol along with sodas and water. Overall the experience here was wonderful.
The Friday night improv was super fun. The people were super funny, creative. Atmosphere is very laid back. Participators get free drinks.
EDIT: Participators do NOT normally get free drinks, this was just a thing that happened my first time. It's still super fun and the comedians always meet everyone in the lobby afterwards.
Decided to take improv classes on a whim. I chose to take them at Village because the shows I had seen there were incredibly funny and entertaining and all around a great time. Classes lasted for 8 weeks, the grad show was fun, and now I'm totally obsessed and back for more! All of the instructors and performers are so accommodating and willing to help however they can. Cannot recommend this place enough.
Hilarious & awesome time. Have been back several times for their improv! Will return!
Real eclectic black box theater. Bar is nice, if not a little small, and the shows are a lot of fun! Only four stars because the power kept shutting off during our show, and it made it a little uncomfortable to be in a fully stocked theater in (unplanned) complete darkness.
Been visiting the Village Theatre crew for over 10 years and it’s hands down the best entertainment you can get for the $. I don’t think I have been to a bad show yet and always extra shows to catch. Perfect date spot, great drink selection and staff is always cool.
Great place to enjoy a comedy or improv show. They have one almost every night with a bar to get drinks as well. Shows are a great time and are pretty cheap at a price of $10. If you want a place to hang out with your friends on a weekend night, this is it.
It's so fun! All the improv shows are really different, so you can see three shows in one night and never see the same thing. They have sketch comedy, too...like SNL! But that doesn't happen all the time. Those shows are only three or so times a year, but it's worth going if you can catch it! The staff here are all performers, so if you go see a lot of shows, you may be able to talk to some of the stars!
It was my first time lol you will definitely have a good laugh. It's every Saturday 🙂. …
If you are looking to take an improv class, I'd totally recommend taking one from the Village Theater. It's an awesome way to meet people and exercise a different part of your brain.
I've taken several classes and all of the of the teachers are great.
The house teams that perform on a regular bases are great to watch as well. So definitely go and check out the various shows.
Went on our valentines date here for the Sh!tfaced Shakespeare abd omg it was incredible. Fantastic energy, wonderful acting, the show overall was one of the biggest successes for a small theater I have ever seen in my years of travel and shows. Seriously phenomenal idea, perfectly executed and I cannot wait for the next Sh!tfaced theme?!!
Went for Friday night commedy and saw one of the improv short form shows in the small theater. Staff was nice, comedy was hilarious with lots of audience involvement, and the beer was only moderately pricey. Definitely recommend this place, especially for the awesome pricing.
A fun venue for a good laugh.
Unfortunately the crowd was small but vocal.
Wow, I can't say enough good about the show 'Summer in Atlanta', which we saw the last performance of tonight at Village Theater! I'm just sad that I didn't see it till the last night, cuz now it's too late to tell all my friends how they shouldn't miss it..! I will say this though -- writer and performer Summer Adhal is definitely going places, that I'm sure of. And someday I will be saying -- "I knew her when...!"
As for the theater, my first time there, pretty cool! Nice venue, intimate setting, and even free parking right outside the theater..!
My daughter (16) and I caught an improv show at Village and really had a great night beginning to end. There was a small group celebrating a woman's birthday who'd come out that night and they handled it funny and uniquely. The glow on the woman's face was something I won't forget for a long time.
Worth mentioning-- I ordered a beer and a soda before the show for us and when the total came I said, "Oh, and a soda." He goes: "Yeah, that's for both." And I seriously said, "Man, you guys don't charge enough." It's odd to see a theater that doesn't gouge the hell out of you on drinks. A good odd.
Very funny, very fun place.
I've been going to their Thursday night show ("Danger") regularly for about a year, and it's always been a fun evening. $5 for as much improv as you can handle?! Awesome :) Lately the format has been a mixture of short-form game-scenes and long-form shows, so whether you like your improv fast and funny or thoughtful and smart, the experienced and quality cast means that you will always reliably get furious play and unpredictable content that will always make you say, with delight, "Did that just really happen?!"
The Village Theater has great eclectic programming, a good bar, and is constantly trying to teach people and foster a wider community of actors and improvisors. Definitely take some classes and improve your ability to think of things on the fly which genuinely makes life funnier and more worthwhile.
My first time going to a comedy theater like this. There were multiple comics that were doing approx 10 minute sets. A couple of them were funny; the rest...meh. Funny thing (pun) they were letting customers in for free if they entered in their underwear. All of the comics were in their underwear too.
Went on a Saturday night with my wife for Improv A**hole (name of the show) and had a great time. Everyone was extremely funny. Great option as a date or if you just want a good laugh. Its a must go if your in Atlanta.
Best experience ive ever had in my life. It was funny, and the content and theme was amazing. The twist of drinking during the play was excellent. The 2nd show of improv was so funny. Me and girlfriend had a blast.
Can't go wrong for $10! Always enjoy my time watching improv here and the location is great for hitting up Edgewood for after show drinks or games.
The Village Theatre is a fantastic venue to see quality improv and comedy shows. All of the performers are fantastic, and the volunteers are incredibly helpful. Shows are hilarious and affordable, and they are a great way to spend a Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday evening. Also, if you have ever been interested in taking an improv class, then I highly recommend that you do so, and then you should choose the Village Theatre. Classes are a great way to meet people, gain confidence in public speaking, and improve thinking on your feet. All of the class instructors perform on the main stage, and they are highly knowledge about the inner workings of improv, and what it takes to make a great show. The Village Theatre is one of the best places in Atlanta, so don't miss out!
Nice little theatre right next to Marta station. The show I went for was funny and the actors really good. We were offered to stay for free to watch the following show, but we had other plans.
Great classes with awesome instructors. Hilarious shows. I highly recommend taking some improv classes and definitely attend some of their shows. If you're looking for friends and laughs, come to Village Theatre
What a fun time! Went to a open comedy show. Great lighting and comfortable seating. Good show and drinks. Need to go back and attend a full show.
Comedy was great. They did oversell that night so people were squished I'm and they had to add folding chairs....but the people were great especially Cassidy, she was ALWAYS coming up with something unique.
Saw sh*t faced Shakespeare. It was really funny!
The venue has a bar with a somewhat inconvenient $10 minimum for card though, so you can't really just buy one drink.
Lots of different acts and groups performing and competing make for a lively theater experience. This is a venue frequented by all ages but young hip people.are especially prominent at shows
This place is awesome and it's cheapest comedy ticket in town. They offer a wide variety of improv, sketch, and stand up comedy shows and classes. I can't wait to go back.
I came for the late night show on Sunday at 10pm. It was great, delightful improv. I felt the cast had good chemistry
Great show. Lots of talented people!!! Lady's night was totally worth it!!!! Cute place. Nice bartender as well!!!!!
Best improv comedy in Atlanta hands-down..
Cool place, really fun, and easy on the wallet. Went to see an improv show here and can't wait to see another one!
Had a great time watching improv here! They were very funny. Made for a great night out with friends.
A very comfortable and friendly theater. The improv is amazing. I wish I could think on my feet as quickly as the improv actors. I really enjoyed the show.
Great place to watch some improv and other silly shows. I always leave in stitches. Needs a better beer selection and maybe some popcorn.
Always a treat to stop in while we are in the city or on the way home from up north. We really enjoy the competitions and the comedy groups that perform here are hilarious.
Great place to see comedy and hang out. The comedians are fun and down to earth and will hang and talk at the bar. Very chill place.
Super fun shows and great beer! Definitely a fun night out. And their pricing is very reasonable.
Love this place! The shows are good and the drinks are cheap.
Great improve. I've gone a couple times now. They don't rely on vulgarity as a crutch, which is refreshing. Highly recommend.
This is a hilarious improv community! I visited from NYC and had a great time here. The shows and people are great.
Lots of comedic variety here and very affordable. Tickets are $5-$10. Hilarious show every time.
This place is hilarious. Go to one show on Saturday night and stay for all the rest of the night and it is non stop laughter mixed with drinks!!!!!
This performance was hysterical. Great laugh and well worth the money. Highly recommend Sh*it faced Shakespeare.
Highly recommend!! Fun date night, inexpensive and great quality actors.

Wow! Laughed so much! This was my second time going and I will go back again and again!! Great place!! Can't wait to go back!
Nice little theater which is rough around the edges. They put on a lot of quirky theatre and comedy shows like ladies' night.
Alternative scene, low cost productions, but nice staff and the bar serves wine in bottles and beer in party buckets. Win!
This place was great! The price was very reasonable and the improve left me in stitches. I will be recommending it to all my friends.
Had a blast at Shit Faced Shakespear. Concessions were reasonably priced and parking was not bad at all.
Pretty funny but almost all the humor is white geeky guy humor at the 3 improv shows I have seen there.
Loved it here! Had a blast and a good laugh. Definitely a place to visit while in Atlanta!
Great atmosphere. Amazing shows. Intimate setting and it has a bar
Went to Village Theater to see Sh!tfaced Shakespeare and it was excellent! Fantastic ambience..really hip spot.

Not a bad space. The acting was ok but the writing left something to be desired.
