You can't beat this venue. Easy to park, if you go early you can eat at saggio's, frontier, or any of the other close locations. Every show I've seen there's not a bad seat in the house. The greeters are friendly, and you can sometimes by really cute merchandise. I loved coming here when I was in college and will continue to come here throughout my life!

Went to see To Kill A Mockingbird at Popejoy Hall. The shuttle system was GREAT from the G Lot with friendly, helpful, professional drivers. Efficient service. The entrance to the hall was a little difficult to find, but the staff were helpful and patient. I was seated in the nosebleed section, but it was a surprisingly good view and easy listening. They do offer hearing buds that were good for one member of my party. The seats were cramped and not very comfortable and it was a little cold. All in all, though, it was a good experience.

My sister and I went to watch "To Kill a Mockingbird" last night! I was impressed by the actor's ability to capture the essence of the story. I truly felt like I was watching the book unfold. Popejoy Hall was very nice and well kept, I gave 4 stars because it was a bit on the colder side. My only suggestion is bring a warm jacket, and get there about 30-45 minutes early. Parking is $8, but it is limited.

Many many years of experience. Saw "Fiddler" Opening night. Row H center. Very tall man somewhat obstructed my view. It happens. Show was great. Cast political statement at the end was inappropriate. Free parking in G lot is quick and easy both ways. Lucky to have arts of any kind in ABQ.

Saw The Illusionists w my adult daughter. Wonderful show, staff was friendly and competent. No problem finding seats. No concessions available during the intermission other than water. I suppose it keeps the place cleaner

What a great venue! The seats were comfy and the sound was outstanding. We saw "To Kill a Mockingbird" and although Richard Thomas starred as Atticus, all of the performances were top notch!

This was my first time attending a show and I was pleased with the performance. I was especially grateful for the comfort of the seats. Too often, halls like this have uncomfortable seating with limited leg room. That was not the case.

Performance was great. Audio was good. Staff was orderly and well attentive. I only wish that the patons seated had enough class and respect for the performers that they didn't talk throughout the event.

The Nutcracker Ballet by the New Mexico Ballet Co. was beautiful. There wasn't a bad seat in any part of Popejoy Hall. Although I was surprised at how small it was, I had expected a much larger auditorium, for a city, the size of Albuquerque. Still, it was perfect. We had a great night, ballet, and a great dinner afterwards.

Performance was great, a few snobby patrons that are feeling entitled, of which can be easily ignored. However, the 2 hour wait to get out of that parking structure can make life unpleasant. It is an event on the campus. Getting the UNM police or security to make traffic flow better would be an excellent idea for events that are popular.

If you live in the Albuquerque area, it is a must see venue. Go see a play, musical or a great musical group. It's a beautiful place to visit.

5 out of 10 stars. The staircase shakes and makes a noise when you walk down to get to the restrooms. A lot of the interior near the fine arts academic advisement offices seem quite outdated with wood paneling and old laminated tiling all throughout the hallways. The bathrooms need remodeling as well. Green chairs are quite comfortable though! I expect upgrades in the near future. Especially considering that the University is a money magnet. 💰

My daughter, Heather, and I went to the Doo Wopp concert on April first, at Popejoy. I have over 1,200 CDs of music from my teenage and young adult years. (50s and 60s). My daughter grew up listening to much of this music with me. This concert was a Christmas gift from Heather. The fact that she put such time and effort to choose a gift close to my heart meant a GREAT deal to me. I wanted the concert to be significant and meaningful to both of us. At the time, I didn't realize how much a part the Popejoy hall would play in our wonderful evening. The hall has 1,985 seats. I estimated during the show that the place was at least 97 percent full. However, the lobby allowed more than enough room for all the concert goers. Getting into the theater itself required some patience, but there was little pushing or shoving. Once inside the theater, Heather and I had no idea where our seats were located, having never been there previously. Before I could get concerned, a bevy of female ushers approached the entering crowd and anyone who needed assistance got help immediately. The seats themselves were comfy. I can vouch for that because I am 6'4" tall. Heather and I were seated in the back. As I looked around the entire venue, including the stage, I realized there was not a bad seat in the house. The stage was unobstructed and a clear view appeared available to anyone in the main seating area. I can't speak for those in the balcony. With appropriate lighting and excellent temperature control, all that was finally needed technically was an excellent sound system to complete the requirements for a thoroughly enjoyable evening. I need not have worried as the sound was neither too loud nor too wimpy. There were no screeching microphones or any kind of flies in the soup to spoil a very rewarding night. The performers were true Broadway veterans. However, that wouldn't have mattered much if the all the elements mentioned beforehand weren't in place. Even getting to the bathrooms during the intermission was quick and easy because of their close placement to the theater and the number of restrooms available. OK. So, yes; I am one of those people who say, "Why use one word when 10 or 20 will do?" I went into considerate detail because I think the staff at Popejoy and future attendees deserve nothing less. Had the staff been rotten at their jobs, I would have excoriated them with same amount of scrutiny as the above review. As you know by now, I highly recommend Popejoy auditorium as a venue and now you know why. RRH

The best venue in Albuquerque for quality entertainment. I have been attending Popejoy for over 50 years. UNM and the foundation have made a concerted effort to keep this facility updated and in great condition all those years.

Located on the campus of UNM. Very nice auditorium. Great shows coming back from covid protocol's. Seating in the "pit" doesn't feel secured to the floor but a good visual overall.

The musical Hairspray was fantastic! The building was nice, seating comfortable, and the ushers were helpful. Buses were available to take us from the parking lot to Pope Joy we're efficient. Great idea!

Awesome facility. Absolutely atrocious staff. They have to be the rudest, most pretentious collection of individuals they could find. Luckily, the facility is amazing. Fantastic acoustics. The best place to take in a concert.

The theater is OK. The show, Mariachi Christmas, was a little odd. A lot of narration and an increasingly odd presentation as it went on. The devil and an angel fighting over indigenous souls? Really? A bit of ballet that seemed like some embedded Nutcracker? I also had a couple seated next to me that wouldn't stop texting. I left at intermission

Amazing performance of Hairspray! They added in personal touches to highlight being in NM which added to the show. Only continual negative is parking. The price of the garage went up (why?) Parking in the A lot is even more expensive. Only other option is to ride a shuttle and park off-site? If it weren't for parking, this would be a five star review.

It has been my experience that any of the seats have very good views. The acoustics also seem fine. We enjoy attending some of the concerts that they have here. The are always people that direct you if you have any problems finding your seat. Best suggestion is to park and let the bus take you there because the parking there costs and it's not great in our experience.

This venue is amazing! There are a couple of levels of seating, but really there's not a bad spot in the entire place! The grand hall is absolutely stunning and the entry is beautiful and reminiscent of old world style ballrooms. I absolutely love the beautiful stage and the plush seats! We sat for a very long perfprmamce and I was comfortable the whole time! Even the bathrooms are elegantly done with beautiful hardwood and updated touch free wash stations. The show we saw was Mean Girls, it was absolutely wonderful and entertaining and so amazing how beautifully it was performed! The only drawback was the directions for arrival. It was dark, I am not familiar with the area, and there were road blocks at different entrances making navigating with Maps a challenge. The parking garage was $7 but so close and very spacious. We were able to park within 300ft of the front doors to the Hall. It was a great experience and we will definitely look forward to seeing more performances!

Popejoy is a wonderful place to see a show. The staff have always been courteous and effective during my attendance. The facilities are excellent, and the auditorium itself is well designed. My one caution would be to avoid tickets on the extreme edges of the seating plan; otherwise, there aren't really any bad seats in the whole place. Parking is very easy and safe if one is willing to pay the event fee for the UNM Central parking structure, a short walk away across a campus plaza.

I normally have the cheap seats in the middle or the back. However this last time we had seats in the orchestra section. The view was great until a big guy took his seat in front of me. Not enough pitch of the floor in this section.

Pope Joy Hall was very conscientious about screening everyone regarding Covid-19 vaccination records and matching it up to our picture and driver's license. Afterward we were given a orange wristband for verification that we have passed inspection. Everyone wore a mask and kept it on through the entire performance. Experience was excellent for my first time back as a season subscriber. Thank you Pope Joy Hall for protecting our health and making it a wonderful night out.

This was my first outing with such a large group of people. Everyone is masked and as we entered the building we are instructed to show our vaccine cards and a photo ID. I do not feel totally safe, but it is either this situation or stay home. The play was Mean Girls, it was fun.

It's a great hall and right on the UNM Campus. You can see so many different types of performances here, like the NM Philharmonic or a Broadway Show. Lots of accessible parking, restaurants, fast food and the bookstore are within walking distance.

Really nice theater, sat in dd208 and was able to see the stage very well. Good sound. Seems to me like there aren't many "bad seats" and if there were any I'd say most likely orchestra, because the seats are all level and youd likely have a head in the way, not a problem on the mezzanine

Broadway quality theater in New Mexico. Shows usually arent first year runs but as professional as NYC without the high cost. Parking right near is safe & well lit. They installed new bathrooms!

Always have quality entertainment & a great parking setup with shuttle buses. Seating is arranged so views of stage is good. Almost ALWAYS overpriced for the seats that are farther from the stage.....really have to pick your shows carefully if you are on a budget.

Shows are great but theater is not. Rows are narrow, knees almost touch another seat if you are tall. Incline is very small so you can't see well because of peoples heads. So the viewing experience is disappointing.

It’s a fun place to come see concerts and performances. But I wish there were more spacing between seating rows. And that they can use some kind of sanitizing agent instead of just wiping the instruments off with a small peace of of tissue after kids put their lips on them. But other then those 2 things It’s a fun place to check out!

This place produces wonderful sound. Good location being in the university area but hard to really point out and does not really stand out. But the inside is modern and acoustics sound great. Premier place in Albuquerque to watch performances.

I came with daughter's class for a field trip. They kept it fairly organized in keeping classes together while moving into the building and seating us, although the process was extremely slow. The seating was cramped, even sitting next to children. The performance itself was really the bright spot.

This venue is terrific! I've been 4 rows from the stage all the way up to the nose bleed section at the top of the balcony! Every seat feels intimate & as if the performance is being put on just for you. Love Popejoy and love the variety of shows available each year. Here for Albuquerque Youth Symphony Program.

Great location and variety if shows. Get there earlier as parking can be difficult. Often it is better to utilize the shuttle system but this gets hectic after the show ends due to rush to load the busses.

The hall itself is great but surrounding facilities less so. Parking is expensive and the bathrooms in the building aren't the greatest. There's lots of cute restaurants in this part of central if you wanna grab a bite before your show.

My Wife and I hold session and tickets, we enjoyed the performance at the venue very much, I'm over 50 and the only thing I don't like is that you can't drink anything, I suffer from chronic dry mouth because of medication, so because of this I have to be sneaky, I feel that they need to change some of the rules because I'm quite sure I'm not the only person who who suffers from this type of thing, 95% of the people I see in there are people in my age group and we are on medication and are not going to be m making a mess in the auditorium..this is my opinion of course I guess I might be wrong

Clean, attractive, comfortable theater. The facilities are attractive and make for a satisfying experience. The venue isn't large, parking ($7) is convenient, and the staff is friendly and considerate. A minor drawback is the distance, or lack of it between the rows. You're going to have to sit up because there isn't space to extend your legs and access to interior seats is like running an obstacle course. There are unobstructed views from every seat and the sound system allows for good hearing. Recommended.

This is a great venue - not a bad seat in the house. The university provides convenient and free parking from Lot G (University, just before Lomas). The only gripe I have is that the seats are a bit narrow. I'm not a big guy, but I find myself rubbing shoulders a bit more than I would like.

Acoustically, line-of-view, and decoratively great, spotlessly clean concert hall. Easy access from free handicapped parking structure. Elevator to lower bathroom floor and to lower balcony, but quite a few stairs to upper balcony seats. Never disappoints!

This is certainly the place to see major acts and Broadway shows in New Mexico. However, we deserve better. It's got terrible parking, it's overpriced and tacky located on the university (which is in a very ghetto area with lots of crime). The bathrooms are scattered all over the university building with graffiti and inappropriate words. It'd be really nice if there was a theatre in town that you could go to a nice dinner nearby before, then park comfortably at a classy nice place of its own.

Popejoy Hall is a wonderful treasure for Albuquerque. It has so many varied performances thst there is always something of interest to see. One problem they could easily solve--stop seating people who arrive late once the show has begun. It is rude to the performers and disrupts the viewing of many patrons. If they arrive late, then they stand at the back until intermission.
