Reviews of Albuquerque Little Theatre
Good venue.. Nearly every seat is a good seat! Plenty of parking, well-lit, too. Great staff and volunteers. AND they were asking the patrons what shows they wanted to see next season. Very nice.
Check out the Emmy given to Vivienne Vance for her character Ethel Mertz in I Love Lucy. After Vivienne passed, Vivienne's family gave her Emmy to the theater because that's where she got her start. The theater folks recognized her talents and gave her lots of support and encouragement.
Loved this venue! We watched The Vanities on a Sunday matinee performance. Staff were very friendly and kindly provided masks to those who did not read you were required to wear one. Overall, cute venue with every seat in the house a good one!
Always a great show loved it we saw vanity 😊 …
Lovely old procinium theater with a 490 seat house. This 90 plus year old theater is a trip through history. Productions are of good quality. I enjoy attending shows here almost as much as I love being in them.
Cool historic site! Old photos and paintings. Friendly staff which are mostly volunteers. Plenty of parking and seats. Good shows throughout the year. Masks are required for everyone's safety.
We have been attending shows at the Albuquerque Little Theater for 50 years, the last show we went to which was called Death Trap and was a very good show unfortunately we froze the entire time we were there, us and several other patrons asked about turning up the heat and we're told it was already at 77° which is absolutely not true or the Albuquerque Little Theater needs to get an HVAC company over there to check their thermostat, the next time we go to a show we'll make sure and take our heavy jackets.
Great place to see small but very well performed and set play. Definitely a must see place if you’re a fan of Theater.
I had SUCH a great time here watching The Addams Family Musical (it was great, btw) The space is very large and I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of parking that was present. They have tables for sitting before and after the show which I thought was perfect for theater goers...the only thing that was lacking was the amount of bathrooms in the place. For such a big space, there were not very many stalls. I had to run for the bathroom while the play was still going on, just to avoid the lines. Overall, great place though! Can't wait to see Annie!!
Such a cool theater, with great history. Catch a show if u have the opportunity.
Saw vanities. The ladies did a great job. It was a lovely evening.
Had so much fun. The complete works of Shakespeare was hilarious 😂 …
Always good shows. Saw 2018 season opener - Pride and Prejudice and loved it, of course. Any seat in the house is great and you can't go wrong!
Even though it is a little theater it feels like a very big theater. I went to go see a Christmas Carol on Christmas Eve I really loved the play. The restrooms was very clean. The lobby was very clean also. Everybody that worked there was very polite. If I had any money to donate to this Little theater I would have it is a very good theater to go watch plays, concerts, Opera, musicals and ballets. I had a great time at this little theater. I would definitely go back for the next event.
A wonderful place of history, held together by a wonderful team. Every performance I have seen there has been brilliant. Definitely a landmark of Albuquerque.
Our favorite place for theater in Albuquerque. Great staff & fun entertainment
Received tickets for Barefoot in the Park from my work. Before the show, one of the employees came out and explained how they were protecting the audience and cast from COVID. I thought that was an amazing addition. The play good! Quality acting, fun and upbeat. We'll diffidently for back to see some shows in the fall.
Great venue! Decent amount of seat room for those of us with hips😊. Friendly staff. Newly renovated beautiful bathrooms. Saw "Murder on the Orient Express ". Have seen the movies and TV show. Read the book. This screenplay was fantastic! Recommend that everyone in this area go see it! You will not be disappointed! This was my first time there, I'll be back.
Just saw Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged). Very funny show. I had a blast. The acting was great too.
Awesome place in Albuquerque. Please go see a play here
This is the best venue in Albuquerque! Not to take anything away from the others, but I love this little theater for it's quaintness, history and the spirit of the people who run it. Every performance I have seen there has been good. Bravo!
Saw a terrific production of Father of the Bride. ALT always delivers exceptional productions and this show is no different. They are using great precautions in this era of Covid-19. Get back out there and support local theater!
First time here. Food was better than expected
Great fun! Never been disappointed! It will be even better as soon add the new bathrooms are installed. Its not super fancy, but has great charm. Be sure to come on time, as it's no fun to be "that late person" who has to crawl over others to get to your seat.
Alt has been a mainstay of community theater for nearly 90 years. As fresh today as it has always been, my wife and I regularly enjoy great mysteries, musical, & comedy. Highly recommended! If you've attended recently nd couldn't hear well using their hearing loop, it's fixed now. Someone had simply turned the volume down for some unknown reason!
I've seen nearly every production offered in the nearly year and a half I've lived here and have never been disappointed. Moreover, the production quality, acting, directing, and venue are all superb. ALT does a diverse season of shows, there is not a bad seat in the house, (check out the beautifully renovated lobby and bathrooms), and the prices are very reasonable for such professional quality theatre.
So nice to have live plays back again. Father of the bride was great. They have taken great care to keep audiences and actors safe.
Our whole family just watched Murder On the Orient Express. It was a great performance, with an extremely clever modular transforming set for the train. Everyone loved it including adults, kids, and teens. Great seats up in the front row of the balcony!
ALT is simply awesome. This small, local, live theater/stage play venue impresses with its dedication to keeping its audiences captivated with great entertainment. There isn't a "bad seat" in the place... and the staff and team are constantly making improvements. Plenty of easy parking and moments away from great local restaurants... it's a perfect way to top off an evening. From casual to formal, everyone is welcome... ALT is just good, clean entertainment. Go! Enjoy!
By far the Best theatre company in town. The acting is always phenomenal, the singing is heavenly and the costumes and set are always seamlessly gorgeous. I have seen many shows here and have yet to see one I do not like or one that disappoints. Although I do wish they would involve the community youth more in casting of shows. This is the company to which I compare all other theatre to. Long live ALT!!!
A delightful theatre!!! I saw Dracula last year and the Adam's family this year. Professional staff and wonderful performances. They have restrooms outside and a large parking area. Get here early at least by thirty minutes. Wheelchair accessible from the street San Pasquale.
Love going to see plays there..I don't like that we still have to wear masks..But yes will be going back!!
OMG, what an amazing performance. We just saw Mama Mia and it blew me away; you'd have thought the cast and crew we high paid NYC professionals. This is a must see performance. Plus, the Albuquerque Little Theater is a terrific venue ... WOW
I never knew this place even existed, but was excited when given the chance to see a play there. The rendition of A Christmas Carol I thought was going to be cheesy turned into an unexpected miracle of joy and was fun. I love live theater and have loved it for many years ever since high school when I got to be a set person. The set was one piece and I never expected to see clowns in A Christmas Carol but was pleasantly surprised to do so. Thank you Albuquerque Little Theatre for an unexpected glorious time.
Season ticket holder and for good reason, every show is fabulous! There have been some that I haven't been too excited about seeing, but I've enjoyed every single one. Right now they are in the middle of capital renovations so it will only get better! Very reasonably priced also!!
Ever wanted to sit in orchestra but could not afford it ? This place is for everyone. I enjoyed high class theatre experience in the second row. The expressions are so clear from here. We watched pride and prejudice. You can come down in casual clothes. No one cares. The business is theater and entertainment and not what you wear or do. Do give it a try and feel proud of this community of artists as they keep this theater alive with their nominally priced amazing performances. Thank you so much alt!!!!!!
Just left dancing in the aisles production of MAMA MIA!
ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!! Spectacular sets, over the top TALENTED PERFORMERS! Such a TERRIFIC night out, lots of fun and the historic theater is really wonderful. Thank you John & Amy Poland for a great date night. Amy ROCKED THE HOUSE!
I saw "Pride and Prejudice" with my sister and friends last fall. Stunning performance!! The play was well organized and definitely worth the price of the tickets! I would love to attend another show soon.
We go here often. High quality productions, and very reasonably priced. Never a bad experience, always a great time. Yes, the restrooms are small -- that's the way they were built in the 1930s, so it's authentic, as is the rest of this historic building. I've found the management to be quite friendly.
Always makes for a great evening out experience.
This is a delightful theater for stage productions. It has a very intimate feel, in spite of seating about 500 people. There isn't much of a lobby, but the seats are comfortable and we'll situated. The last production I saw did have less than ideal audio production, making it difficult at times to understand the dialog, but overall, this is a great place to see stage productions.
Always reasonably priced. Leg room tight if you have leg problems definitely get isle seat. They are finally working on bathrooms. One 2 stall bathroom for women is inadequate. Intermission mile long line so you have to miss some of the play in order to get in bathroom.
Albuquerque Little Theatre, located in Old Town has been in operation for almost 90 years. They offer about 7 plays throughout the year and do a nice job. The play now being performed, It's a Wonderful Life, was a fine production with everyone, especially the lead, making all of us believe that we do have a wonderful life. The next production, Shrek The Musical, should also be fun for the family, but ALT sometimes produces adult themed dramas so check with the box office when buying tickets.
ALT has survived over the years despite it's age. Old theatres are in constant need of repairs and improvements. In the last few years a new stage floor, much-needed new drapes on the stage and a new sound system have greatly improved the viewing experience. They're currently in the process raising money to redo the bathrooms on the main level and build new bathrooms on the balcony level. Regular theater goers, especially the ladies, will appreciate that.
ALT consistently offers a wide range of theatre experiences, so if you don't see one you like now, there very well be several others you will enjoy.
The performances are always first rate. Saw Amadeus last evening and it was one of the best I've seen. Mario Cabrera, who played Antonio Salieri was outstanding. This performance should not be missed.
Here's a lovely gem! This is the third oldest continuously operational theater this side of the Mississippi. That's 89 years! The seats are comfy and I'm usually worried about that at 2m (6'3"). There's ample room for knees and the armroom is generous. Nearby dining makes a show into an entire evening. Ticket prices are far too low and the quality of the productions are comparably above average. Bring your friends to a fabulous time that everyone will thoroughly enjoy.
This was beyond spectacular, truly amazing experience! Cannot wait to go back with my family!
Packed house for an excellent performance of Father of the Bride. Super Covid conscientious - requires vax card and fulltime masking by all audience members.
Great theater, nice old place. Bathrooms need updating but they are working on that. Vivian Vance's Emmy is in a case in the lobby. Her main role was Ethel Mertz on I Love Lucy. Productions there are excellent.
This venue is a gem. It is an intimate and comfortable venue for 7-8 local theater productions with a mixture of dramas, comedies and musicals. They are working on many improvements to the venue. The talent is surprisingly good.
Every show is beyond fantastic. The cast is always phenomenal, the staff is friendly... Albuquerque's premier theatre! Don't pass an opportunity to attend a show at ALT!
Saw Shrek, The Musical at the ALT. Pretty good performance in an great historical theater. They are working their way through upgrades but the building is still 90+ years old so it has some expected problems (can get warm if you have a full house).
This season we have seen Pride and Prejudice, Footloose, and A Wonderful Life. All of them have been wonderful. It's been a great night of a dinner out then a play. Come out and support Albuquerque Theatre.
We saw It's a wonderful Life. Great performance! However if anyone has seen the the movie, they'd know that the play would not be a great pmace to bring small children. I know even my 9 year old wouldn't be the best audience. Fortunatly, the patrons with small children quickly learned and left the audience. But, what a waste of money, seats and time. FYI....
Great local theatre, especially now that the bathrooms have been updated. Note that the building is old and the seats are small.
This is a review of the Box office ticket sales girl Paulette. I called in to purchase tickets for little shop of horrors. This will be my first time seeing a show and purchasing tickets for a show. , and I am not familiar with the process. Unfortunately she was very annoyed with my lack of knowledge, and reiterated information in annoyed and arrogant spirit and tone. It was unfortunate because she just assumed I knew what she meant, and when I asked again, it really perturbed her, and it came across. I think she is burned out, and does not need to deal with the public any longer. She's not happy in this position, and it shows. What I felt was not helped served, or welcomed to the theatre, but that she restrained herself to have to put up with me and my ignorance. It was not a good 1st encounter with Albuquerque Little Theatre. I just think she is in the wrong position, her personality is probably better suited in another position, because she does not enjoy helping people in the box office, and it definitely shows. Paul.
Thank you for responding, it shows you care. Changing my star review. Paul
This is Albuquerque's oldest live theater and after all these years they still know how to out on a good shoe!
We saw Mary Poppins and really enjoyed the show. The costumes, cast, choreography, and singing we're so well done. Amazing for community theater actually!
Attended a very good production last night, "Amadeus". You know the story. The cast did a great job. I would really like to see it again and will. I've got the DVD.
This is a community gem, entering its 80th season or something around that. They put on so many shows every year, with community members, young and old. It's always so much fun to spend an evening or afternoon at the ABQ Little Theatre!
We have been season ticket holders for years and have thoroughly enjoyed each performance. We have a lot of great talented actors here in Albuquerque!!!
Mama mia Sunday performance was just delightful way to enjoy our weekend!
Performance was outstanding and shout out for new bathrooms just beautiful!@@
Consistently great performances. My wife and I love amateur theater and this is the best. We drive from Los Alamos to see performances several times a year.
Albuquerque Little Theater, is always a great time. Local actors, producers, and crew. It's a great night out.
“Spamalot”
On a recent visit to Albuquerque we slotted time to see the play "Spamalot" performed at the ALT as the locals call it. The performance was wildly entertaining and the theatre very relaxed. Parking is easy both in and out and they offer a good list of upcoming plays.
Love coming to see plays here. Never seen a bad performance. Everything is superb from the actors on stage to the people greeting you at the door.
Watched Grease. It was great. Highly suggest Balcony seats!!!
I often perform at this theatre as well as attend productions. Community theatre with a professional feel. Great for a night out, most shows great for kids, and not as expensive as broadway.
Went to see Grease. It was great. No bad seat, price is great.
Absolutely the best "Mama Mia" was spectacular so much energy great strong voices. The best play I have seen yet.
We went to see Pride and Prejudice. The set was excellent. Acting was very well done. Mrs. Bennett was hilarious.
Great performances with excellent actors! Nice variety of plays and musicals. Wonderful place to go for superb entertainment!
The actors were excellent. The props were wonderful. The atmosphere was very pleasant. I would go back again.
Amazing the talent that's in this city. I'm always so impressed with the quality of these shows. Singing in the rain hit it out of the ball park.
Love this place! The play was fantastic. It was a full house on a Thursday night. Get your tickets now.
ALT has all the safety procedures in place. Plus the play was just wonderful! Really funny
Just a sweet, consistently good venue in Albuquerque. ALT always does a wonderful job. They have been entertaining Albuquerque for years and years.
This is a great venue. Actors are top notch. Very enjoyable every time I attend. Highly recommended.
It's always a great way to spend an evening, or build a Christmas tradition. The plays are well done and it's nice to support a small vanue with such a long history.
Wonderful little venue with an intimate feel. Great sound system and local talent! Love the new restrooms!
Great production. Cozy venue. Wonderful historic site! Any chance you have to.attend a play here is a great opportunity.
I went for the musical "Foot loose",good scenography, actors did a great job acting and singing, the audio system failed some times. Plenty of parking spots.
Great to see live theater again! They take all the CV-19 precautions, so support local theater.
Watching Shrek The Music here made me wonder what Shrek's [Outskirts O' 'Burque] family would say about his newfound ogre love at the next family reunion.

If you haven't had a chance to experience a play here, I recommend that you do so, it's an absolute beautiful venue, great seating and wonderful entertainment
What a cast...and the design set was amazing. Our favorite movie to watch year after year and home decorating the tree!
Wonderful small theater in Old Town. They always have a variety of shows. It's an intimate theater and I've always enjoyed the performances here.
I love the idea of having the Albuquerque Little Theater in the neighborhood but they need to do something about the architecture it really really depresses me and I'm sure the neighborhood but I know it costs money
My son and I are season ticket holders. We would definitely recommend ALT's talented crew to everyone!!
We enjoy going to the plays. Great theater has old time feel but not run down.
Just a super show! The singing was good, the dancing was superb! Totally enjoyed myself.😃 …

Wonderfully historic building. Fabulous productions. Friendly helpful staff. Great place to go for entertainment.
The theater is now 90 years old! It was great fun to see live performing!
Great setting for live theater. Wonderful acting and the timing was spot on fro the presentation of RUMORS.
Good productions with great casts. Seats are too close to one another. Bathrooms definitely need help.
We are season pass holders and love the experience on date night.

Would give 5 stars except I think the should upgrade sound system like popejoy
Wonderful show, The Belle of Amherst. Excellent staff.
Watched Adams family. The whole show was amazing. First time there. Will definitely be back.
Went to see Pride and prejudice. Performance aside, which will always be variable, you get good views and courteous staff.
Needs bigger seats but everything was great.
Great place for an affordable, fun evening. Causal to dressy. Not enough bathrooms, but they are working on it!
Love the acting class for the little kids! It's fun, educational, and it gives an opportunity for the kids to express themselves freely!

Great performance. It'll be much better once the restrooms are renovated.
They have updated everything except the sound system which desperately nees to be updated. Shows are high quality and reasonably priced.
Saw "wait till dark", small theatre but outstanding performance.
ALT is a wonderful community theatre that puts on quality productions. You will not be disappointed!
Loved the musical production of Singing in the Rain! Love all their productions! Give it a 10+
Fun time...great acting. Needs a facelift, but still charming after 89 years.
