Reviews of Brandywine Zoo
An intimate, pleasant zoo in the north part of the city. If you have kids, definitely take them here if you can. If you don't, I still recommend coming here anyway, because it is a enriching and beautiful experience. You won't have to spend a lot of time here. It is not that hard to navigate the zoo, and will not take that long. If you come here in the winter months, admission is free, and you don't need to buy a ticket. The process of coming in is actually quite easy and simple. The downside is that not all the animals are here in the winter months, but a lot of them still are present. This collection includes the adorable and quite lovely red pandas, always a highlight. I have to say that my favorite moment of my trip to the zoo was probably the condor, a graceful and somber creature that I was able to get quite close to. It is large, and every majestic feather glistens darkly in the sunlight. There is a little white ruffle across the neck, and there is an exotic--yet familiar somehow--majesty to this bird that by itself make the trip worthwhile. Whatever your interest, I hope that you will find something worthwhile and compelling here. If you're in Wilmington and you have some time to spare, definitely come here, especially if you have kids.
Visited the Zoo on new year day, it was free entry with a guided tour. It's a small zoo but definitely interesting for little ones. Guides did a really good job taking us through the zoo and explaining each of the birds and animals, while answering our questions as well. The zoo has a good parking space and restroom. I will visit the place again.
Such a cute little zoo. The red pandas are adorable! We were fortunate enough to go around the animal’s feeding time so they were a bit more active than usual. I loved that the admission was inexpensive as well.
If you’re in downtown Wilmington looking for a short trip away from the brick and mortar, the Brandywine Zoo is close, small and accessible. As Zoos go, this one is teeny tiny- made even more so by the removal of the birds from their exhibits. But we walked to the zoo, stopping at a small playground, strolling along the canal, and crossing the stone bridge to get there. The walk was picturesque and refreshing. The half hour we took to walk the zoo from one end to another was just enough for our legs to rest and for us to experience this community’s vision for a local zoo. Also timed perfectly for a toddler’s attention span.
A small zoo. Good enough for small kids. The petting zoo was well maintained.
We went on a weekday; wasn't crowded.
AZA members enter for free.
The zoo is stroller and wheelchair friendly.
The staff were friendly.
There's ample parking outside.
Nice little small zoo and when we visited it was also free. Not sure if that always the same. Sadly it was raining that day so most of the animals where inside. I can see in the summer it can be really nice. They have picknick tables and a covered area
Small, but very cute zoo. It was my first visit and I really enjoyed it. Red pandas and lemurs were so adorable. Combined with a walk through the Brandywine park, it's a great time. Rose garden was definitely the highlight, absolutely beautiful. A must see!
Even though this zoo is small, it is lovely! I rarely see a zoo with the animals so up close. It was quite the treat. The lemurs are adorable and the goats are so friendly. Red panda was my favorite! You should definitely go as it is very affordable too.
Cute animals. Very inexpensive.I took my nephew to his first zoo visit. Will come again
This is a sweet little zoo that is perfect for young children and toddlers. It's small enough that you can visit all the animals in one hour, and a little one can run back and forth between the red pandas and the lemurs a dozen times without exhausting their grownups. There is a small amphitheater, an animal ambassador area, and a woodsy area for children to play in. There's even a Little Free Library stocked with animal-themed books! The reptile exhibit is very small, but it's still quite exciting.
This is an excels spot to visit with small children, and if you live locally, the annual family membership is absolutely worth it.
Great little zoo! We were in the area (we're originally from Maryland) and decided to stop by on the way home before lunch. My kids (4 and 7) loved seeing the animals and I was surprised how many animals they actually have for being such a "small but mighty" zoo. We got to see alot of activity because of feeding times and it wasn't super crowded today like Google had suggested it would be. We were there about 40-45 min. *No pictures this time unfortunately*
Lovely little zoo! Had a great time. The gift shop has plenty inside to bring home souvenirs and the snack bar was good as well with very reasonable prices. Was definitely worth the drive from northern New Jersey. I would visit again - there is a great variety of animals here.
Really a beautiful zoo. The animals look so well cared for and loved. All the staff we met seemed to really love their job and the animals! A nice way to spend a Saturday morning. Ordering tickets on line was so easy and the price is great!
We hosted my 6yo's birthday at the Brandywine Zoo. The zoo is perfect for birthday parties, it's a really manageable size with light crowd levels. It was too chilly for the "animal encounter" in the birthday package so a zoo educator took the kids on a tour of the zoo. They loved it! All we had to do was show up with cupcakes, the wonderful staff took care of everything else. So easy and fun and different.
Great fun on warm New Year's Day. So mild that the lemurs played outdoors.
Lovely little zoo. Especially loved the Madagascar exhibit with tortoises, lemurs, and little monkeys all living together and the very stoic capybara.
Well im not sure what you call it yes it has animals in cages but literally its so small i had to just stop n think did i miss a walk off way but nope its really that small, dont get me wrong its a nice place , nice environment, friendly staff, well kept animals besides 1 large bird kinda limps on his left leg , but over all its not that bad just dont think its a zoo zoo its like a animals housing complex or something, thumbs up tho , its a nice spot for a stop for kids i think, or just moms with small kids 🙂👍
Cute little zoo! Perfect size for anyone with kids who have a short attention span. They have a good variety of animals and a little cafe and gift shop. Would definitely recommend a membership.
Brandywine Zoo is a quaint little niche type of zoo. It is very clean with a very polite staff. Situated across from Brandywine Park, up on a hill area. It is wheelchair accessible, but eat your Wheaties, lol. They have a variety of small animals, such as lemurs, monkeys and a serval cat. There is a petting zoo, but is currently closed as of this review. You can still observe the goats and chickens. There is a snack shop here and a theater for shows, but there aren't currently any shows. If you want a small zoo type experience for about an hour or so, then this is for you. Make sure to go online and purchase your tickets for the time slot you would like. Enjoy your visit. Oh, I almost forgot, stop by and see the honeybees. It is neat to see inside if the hive.
Veeeery small zoo, but the variety of animals you don't usually see in your typical zoo were great! We were there about an hour with taking our time. I would have given 5 stars but the $7 per adult was pretty steep considering alot of zoos are donation encouraged and not mandatory
Visited the Brandywine Zoo with family and daughter's friend. Had a great time with very little crowd watching the condor warm himself by spreading his large wings, the lemurs running and playing in the new Madascar exhibit, the toucan catching seeds flipped from the tip of his bill and the two Pudos which are the world's smallest deer.
This probably would've been 4-stars, but it's winter and most of the animals are indoors and not visible. Yes, that's my fault, but I can only rate based on my experience. It's also free from Dec to Feb, so you can't really complain. It was a nice but brief thing to do.
I been several times and usually take kids. Stroll through the zoo and walk / run and play up and down monkey hill. Tell the kids about my old days riding my bike in the neighborhood.
The Brandywine Zoo is on the smaller side as far as Zoo's go. It's about the size of a city block and houses a surprisingly large number of animals. The Staff there is always friendly and eager to interact with the visitors and animals. I have been there a few times and each time I was able to catch some sort of feeding or live animal demonstration that seem almost personal due to the size of the zoo. Don't forget to pack a lunch and you can take advantage of the park outside of the zoo along the Brandywine River there are picnic tables scattered about and a nice trail that wraps around the area. I gave it 3 stars because of its size and cost to enter. In my opinion it is definitely worth checking out if you have not been I know my family and I plan on returning.
It was a cute tiny zoo. Kids under 3 are free. Adults were $7. Beautiful park surrounds the zoo. Our favorite animal was squeekers the bobcat
I always love going to this zoo and taking my daughter to see the animals. It's never crazy busy during the week and if you go around lunch time It's when they feed some of the animals and that's when you will be able to see the ones that hide the most. The staff are always kind and helpful and the front reception people/gift shop people are exceptionally helpful and nice. It's handicapped accessible throughout the zoo and there are a decent amount of cool animals there. I highly recommend for people with small kids and for people who like a nice little walk.
The Brandywine Zoo is a wonderful place to bring your toddlers. They can run around, because it isn't crowded. It doesn't have many exhibits, so if you're looking for a large selection of animals, this isn't for you. It's just a nice, cheap place to let the kids run free. The animals are generally out where you can see them, so you won't be disappointed. It only takes about 30 minutes from start to finish. That is why it's very inexpensive. We just walked the whole place a few times. If it had more exhibits, I would give it a higher rating, for family fun.
Small package, big punch! This zoo is adorable. There aren't too many animals and you can see them all. The serval was the only animal that was able to hide. Great photo opportunities. Real nice flow. Awesome for little kids. Pack a lunch and make a day of the zoo and playground. I just found out they have presentations/shows. Pleasantly surprised. 😊😊😊
Family friendly experience. We took older family members and there were enough benches for them to walk, relax, view, and then continue to the next exhibit.
We enjoy our small local zoo. It’s tiny and not much to see but the staff is always super friendly and they have special days that the kids really enjoy like the Boo at the Zoo. It’s size makes it nice to go have a picnic in the park and then visit the animals and it not taking up your entire day. Excited to see what changes are being made as they build the new enclosure.
Small but nice place to take the family. You can see the whole place in a hour. The staff were all over talking to people about the animals. Look into the yearly pass . So you can bring the kids for quick trips The is a nice park in front on it on the creek/river.
Went out to breakfast with my grandson the other day and asked him what he wanted to do today. He looked up and said that he wanted to go to the zoo. So we did. This zoo may be small, but it is a big hit with my grand kids who are two and three years old. Everyone that I have met there is super friendly and shows so much patience with the kids. They just recently had an ice cream social for members that served Woodside farms creamery ice cream. That was good stuff. I highly recommend getting a family membership, you will definitely get your monies worth.
We normally come to the area to picnic across from the zoo along the Brandywine river. The geese and ducks are pretty socialized and it is nice and scenic. As for the zoo, it's very small with a limited amount of animals. I'm ok with that because it'd be sad to see a big animal all cramped up. they do have educational events, and the staff are well informed. We went today on a Groupon deal $12 for 2 adults, 2 children, which is about half off normal prices.
Small family oriented zoo. Love letting my toddler run around and explore. Staff is friendly and attentive! They have great programs for children during the week and on the weekends! Once a month in the summer they have a family fun night with $1 admission!
Great zoo for young children. You can appreciate the care given to the animals. Good location to also hike or venture into the woods.
Cute little zoo great to take the kids that are affordable ratesnice area for picnics across the street at the Brandywine Creek. Plenty of free parking would recommend this to any young family For a nice day out.
Small zoo but perfect for toddlers. Older kids would not be so impressed. Capybara, Otters, Reptiles, Macaw, rhea, condor, fox, owl, red panda, tamarins, porcupine, some other birds/hawks, goats; concession stand has pizza, hot dogs, pretzel and snacks/sodas. Nothing fancy. Gift shop is same. 7$ per adult, kids under 3 free. Spend about an hour here. And the goose and ducks along the Brandywine river (where you park) are also entertaining.
Check their schedule for special showings too.
Staff is really awesome!
Very small zoo. Not expensive at all. I’m giving this cute mini zoo 5 stars cause it was a hit for my son because of the red pandas! We made the trip out here just for that. We still enjoyed the zoo and even got souvenirs at the gift shop.
The staff is nice and the zoo looks clean and animals look well taken care of. But it is very small and only worth it if you are a local. We spent less then an hour here, was not worth my drive an hour away.
This is a cute little zoo connected to a beautiful park. The animals appear to be well cared for. It only takes about 1/2 hour to see everything and the gift shop is not overpriced. My 8 year old had a good time.
An adorable outdoor experience for all ages! Staff is friendly and animals seem happy and well taken care of.
Yes, like all of the other reviews tell us, the zoo is small. They don’t pretend to be anything that they are not in any of the advertisements. The animals that are there are visible and in decent enclosures. I was disappointed to not see any of the birds that were out inside because of the avian flu.
My favorite animals were the tortoises. They were very active and it was really neat to see how they behave.
My main problem with the zoo was their snack counter. First, they have on the menu that they have chips, they do not. Don’t advertise what you do not have. Secondly, I bought a hot dog which was practically cold and undercooked. That was really gross. Also, they have a cute but very small gift shop.
We spent about an hour on site with our granddaughter. It is worth visiting but do not expect to be there long.
Love this zoo! Such friendly people and they take care of their animals well.
Very nice quiet zoo with many birds and rare animals, very friendly staff and guides
Had a great time. Perfect for the little ones. Close by, not to big and a nice variety of animals. Make sure to ask for the scavenger hunt when you enter the zoo.
Very small zoo bit you can see the community supports them. Very gorgeous habitats with many newly built habitats.
its a small but Beautiful Zoo , its clean , the staff is very nice with the Animals , we have a Blast !
There wasn't much to see, so if you're planning a zoo trip and want to make a day of it I wouldn't advise choosing Brandywine but it was a great mid day excursion. Food and gifts were VERY reasonable. I would absolutely recommend going here with elderly or small kids who get worn out quickly. If you are someone who gets EBT benefits bring your card and up to (3?) Other people for entry at $2 each.
Beautiful little zoo, great setting, nice way to spend a half hour and see some cool animals. Very clean, very easy.
Stopped by in the morning as they were just opening and loved this sweet little zoo. We went in the off season so entry was free but the weather was on our side and all the animals were outside enjoying the sunshine.
Recommend for a cute little outing!
This is a great zoo for small (think toddler) aged kids. The entrance is inexpensive and it makes for a good morning outing before naptime. We went on a Monday so it was nearly empty, and all the animals were active, (and very cute!). We had a nice time
This is a little jem of a zoo. I enjoy myself every time. Admittedly I miss the otter swimming pool of years past. Tho the updates like the lemur viewing pavilion are amazing. Keep up the good work Brandywine zoo.
Its very nice, but its so small. You could do the whole zoo in less than 30 mins. Unfortunately alot of the birds aren't out because of the avian flu, understandably but still disappointing.
Very small zoo, but fun enough and worth it for the low admission price. Just realize there are few exotic animals here.
Zoo itself have very few animals on display, but the location is good and easily you can pass 1-2 hours in the area.
My family loves this zoo. It's small, but clean and well presented. It's perfect for our 2 year old, as long visits to bigger zoos can be overstimulating and we end up leaving without seeing it all. The staff is friendly and informative. I think the prices are fair, and we are always happy to pay them knowing they keep the animals and zoo going. We like that it's near the river so we can walk before or after our trips and the picnic area nearby is convenient too. We definitely recommend the Brandywine Zoo!
Its a small zoo but a beautiful place with a river sideby. There is also a small park for kids at a walkable distance. After visiting the zoo one may take their kids there.
So much fun. I loved every moment
Great place if you've got time to kill. Can never go wrong with a zoo.
Like all zoo have good time.
Been couple of summers since my visits to this extraordinary gem at the edge of the cityscape. Location and size are well adapted to city life and it's fast pace. Including the Zoo, Brandywine River, the Park, Gardens, and Ice cream Festival, gives many options with a great balance between excitement and relaxation. Excellent staff, Terrific selection of healthy well maintained animals and exhibits.
Love our little zoo! The animals and amenities are well taken care of. There are always events for kids and even adults. It's a little gem in the city!
It's a nice zoo. It's on the small side, but they offer a lot of fun things for the kids to do.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. Yes it’s small.. but I felt like it was the perfect size for the amount of time we had a lotted. Priced fairly for the size.
Maybe we went at the perfect time/day, but there was a very small amount of people there.
Strange as it may sound, but we enjoyed it more than our recent visit to the Philly zoo.
Cute but small zoo. Staff was very friendly. Looks like they plan to expand the property in the near future.
This was a perfect size zoo for a toddler. He was able to run around without a ton of people everywhere. Highlight was the goat area.
This is a small zoo, but it’s very enjoyable! The condors are incredible and all the animals are fun to watch. The new space for the lemurs is really neat and they were so fun to watch. Red pandas are my favorite and it was so great watching the two eat and wander around, and it made me so happy hearing so many other kids get excited to see the Zoos animals. Very cool that this zoo is set in a hill too. The price is totally worth it- my husband and I went on spring opening day and it was only $5 per adult. Look forward to visiting again one day- it looks like they have a new space under construction right now and I would love to see what the future holds!
My wife daughter an I wanted to do a day trip. So we were looking at zoo's, an the price difference between here an the plumbton zoo was like 30 buck. But here is the thing. For the price you CAN NOT skip this. It's kinda small but when you have little ones the size isn't what matters it's the memories you make with them an that they enjoy the animals. You got picnic tables down by the river an free parking.
Loved seeing the new exhibits and all of the renovations they've done to the zoo! The kids and I had a great time there.
Small zoo but the animals here are great! Been here a few times now. Don't expect to see big animals but the small ones are just as great. Friendly staff and animals have a great space.
This was the perfect venue for my grandson's 1st birthday. The party package was great. The staff was awesome and the animal encounter part of the party was fun for the little ones. After the party celebration, we visited the zoo and it was nice that as a group of 25 we were able to stay together since the zoo is smaller. The children loved it. If you are not having a party, I still think this is a nice place to visit for a few hours with younger children.
This is an awesome little zoo with a lot of character and a really nice layout. Lots of good stuff here for kids and adult animal lovers. The staff is knowledgeable and eager to answer questions about the animals. Highly recommend visiting and supporting the Brandywine Zoo!
Very clean little place. Very small zoo, not a place you'll be likely to spend a full day at, a couple hours might be a stretch. Animals all seem pretty lively and happy. Kids seem to enjoy the place a lot! Staff is very friendly and attentive. The otter show was the highlight of our trip! The park directly outside of the zoo is well maintained and is a great place to have a picnic lunch if you get through the zoo early.
Watch out for the ducks, they aren't shy and will steal your food!
Very cute zoo and was a treat to go somewhere on the weekend with no wait!
Very nice place for kids, also next to the great brandywine Park, nice walking trails and scenery
Such a great zoo! A small zoo with great exhibits. Very clean and we'll laid out. All of the employees were very kind, helpful, & well educated. Such a great activity if you only have a limited amount of free time. You can get through the zoo quickly or take your time and enjoy it for several hours.
It's a small zoo and you should only expect to spend an hour here, maybe an hour and a half if you take your time. It's perfect for younger kids.. but the oldest child I took here was 9 and he still had a good time. They loved petting the goats and watching the otters swim and play but when we left they agreed their favorite animal was either the bald eagle or the bobcat.
Very clean, animals are well taken care of, delightful and knowledgeable staff. Had a wonderful time, will definitely be returning soon.
For a small little zoo it was quaint and had a lot of cute animals to see. The lemurs were interesting to see. It's cheap and worth it, great place for kids.
Small and sweet zoo with polite staff. It's undergoing some construction right now but should improve it even more. There are several exhibits with smaller animals, a petting zoo with goats, a snack bar area and a seating area. This is geared for a short visit and for the younger kids. Make a longer day out of using the park by the river or the large playground just walking distance away.
A clean, small, family-friendly zoo that is geared towards children! Although it is not a large zoo, there is plenty to enjoy here if you take your time to observe each of animals and talk with your kids about them, their habitat, behaviors, etc. The zoo staff and volunteers are very helpful and polite. Because the zoo is so close to Brandywine Park, it’s perfect to combine a nice walk to admire the beautiful scenery, run around on the nearby playground, and enjoy a picnic lunch. Membership at the Brandywine Zoo also affords you 50% off admission price at the Philadelphia Zoo!
You can actually see most, if not all the animals unlike some zoos where the animals are hiding. The tiger is awesome and active. Small so toddler didn't get bored walking and lose focus. Also petting the goats was fun for my 3 year old. Park is clean, and fun without a massive crowd to tend with. Price of admission is excellent and season pass is a bargain if you plan on multiple trips.
Seems like a really nice place for families with young children, but much too small for adults to enjoy on their own. It is basically just a single walk path with animals on either side. Some of the animals are in glass cages which are hard to see into due to glare from the sun. The food is reasonably priced, and the keepers are very friendly, knowledgeable, and available.
Great zoo for the under five-year crowd. Plenty of animals to pet and can literally be walked from top to bottom in 15 mins or less. Very small zoo.
My kids are 2 and 5 and they absolutely are infatuated with this little zoo. There are multiple empty exhibits where animals used to be but I'm sure they won't be vacant long. Theres a nice sitting area with picnic tables. You can get food here or bring your own.
This is a small, what we call a 20 minute zoo. Not much to see at the zoo itsself but they do have great events throughout the year. The staff are super friendly and always happy to answer any of the hundreds of questions your kids, or you may have! Small gift shop with books, toys, t-shirts and the like. Because of its small size it's truly an educational place and surrounding areas are beautiful to explore
Very small zoo, bout half hour walk. Goat petting available
Our group was two seniors, one in a wheelchair, one adult and a four yearold. We all had a great time.
A lovely place for your family to have a great day. The staff was nice. This is such a wonderful place. I came here with my whole family. Zoo contains so many beautiful species. The area is very well managed. Thinking to visit again in the near future.
Such a small, sad zoo that I forgot to take photos. They’re known for their tiger, but that has exhibit had been closed for some time. Tiny for a zoo. I’m sure they care perfectly well for the animals, but few looked like they were doing that great. Many exhibits have so much netting that it’s tough to see much clearly. It’s fine for kids, but kids who have been to other zoos may be disappointed; set their expectations lower.
I remember coming here with my father as a child. It's small but it's so quaint and kids love it! My granddaughter really loved it! The head administrator really took time to explain many different things about the zoo to us. I really appreciated that. He was a nice man.
Great little zoo in a beautiful setting. Not a full day outing, but great for a few hours and many of the events are a lot of fun.
The price and size make this a great option for a quick afternoon dose of cute animals. I always spend most of my time petting the goats and watching the otters play. On my first trip, I was pleasantly surprised to find such a diverse selection of animals in a small zoo.
Great smaller sized zoo that we have been members of and have visited for years. Nice people there and a cool selection of animals. They are expanding some areas including the Eagle area. Probably best in spring in summer as many of the animals are housed for the cold weather.
The park is nice along the water, plenty of tables and grills. The zoo does not have a tiger. :( So disappointed! The zoo is suited for children under 6. It would make for a nice family day.
Wonderful zoo in Wilmington. Great activities for kids and you can learn a bunch about the animals they have there. I'm excited for the new expansion!
Very cute, very small Zoo. Took a couple of Grandkids, then had a picnic on the picnic tables out front. Nice relaxing time.
Great little zoo with lots of history. They are AZA accredited and take amazing care of their animals. I really recommend watching them and visiting regularly-- they are under construction with a new director and making huge waves and really wonderful changes.
We come a few times a month always just nice and relaxing
Zoo was great. The fact that we went just as they opened, all the animals were out. Easily viewed. Saw the plans for expansion-looks promising. Area is nice in general outside as well. River across the street.
Currently very small with small enclosures for the animals, though they plan to renovate and improve that. The text label for the zoo in Google Maps needs an edit so it won't be frustrating for kids - label still says there's a tiger (zoo only had a tiger for half a year in 2016).
We always love walking around here and having picnics near the water. Kids were so excited when the little Joey's were just born. New petting area. Staff os always so friendly and well educated.
The Zoo was a great place! We went to the zoo but Diddid didn’t. Diddid stayed home. He said he has seen monkeys and doesn’t care to look at them again. Diddid missed a good time because we walked over the suspension bridge. But we brought Diddid some Deerhead Hot Dogs. He didn’t want 2 but we gave him 2 so he cursed at us. Diddid likes Coney Island better because they have weiners. I thought Deerhead had Weiners, but Diddid said they have no weiners. Diddid ate one hot dog and made us eat the other one. We liked it. Definitely check out the zoo! It’s well worth it.
Was a good time with kids but definitely needs more animals. To fast and small to visit. But my girls loved it.
Very nice but small zoo.But we had a very nice day.Well kept and clean.
Lovely river around. Woth walking trails plus well maintained zoo entry costs just 7 bucks. Good place to hangout, of bird photography.
Free parking
Would have have gotten 5 stars, but the misinformation about blue tongues laying eggs got me. Live babies peeps. You have to actually know about the animals before you can tell others. This is why people believe ridiculous things about snakes and lizards, you've got to make sure it's correct.
I take my kids everytime we visit Delaware. They staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They go above and beyond. The ladies in the gift shop are so kind. The toys are reasonably priced. There is a snack counter that sells churros and popsicles etc. We were able to go in and brush goats. There is a play area with logs and wooden posts with stacking rings. A good variety for the space. They have had different animals when I have gone but I don't know if they change them out regularly.
Love the red pandas and otters. My grandson and I visit frequently. Excellent parking and natural surroundings, with nice stream to sit or cool feet off at start or end of visit.
Perfect for your toddler's first zoo experiences. Almost impossible to loose kids, unless they really try to hide from you, in their neatly designed cute path.
I dont do the zoo, but I do the 68 steps across the shaky bridge. Its a nice stroll.
Fun zoo, about the size you'd expect for Wilmington but very well maintained with staff that are knowledgeable and friendly. I've visited many times and plan to keep visiting it.
Small zoo but great experience.
Small 100 year old plus zoo in Wilmington Delaware. Still a destination especially if your close to town (we were in Philly) as this is a quaint and quick visit that is worth the time. And better yet the cost is nominal at best so please make a donation or hit the gift shop to help them out. And hey oh by the way ya might just learn something too. That in an of itself makes it a good day eh 👍
Wasn't expecting much in early March. About half of the animals were gone and considering this is a really small zoo I pretty much saw goats and lamas for $5 (adult rate this time of year).
The Brandywine Zoo is a small zoo, but it has some cool animals. I've only gone once, and it was a while ago, but I remember liking it. However, the Philadelphia Zoo and other local zoos are technically better.
Nice little zoo in Wilmington, Not too many animals, but a nice little selection including a Tiger, Eagle and Sea Otters. Good size for an hour or two with kids.
Small zoo. Clean staff was friendly.
My granddaughter had a great time there so did we nice and clean and coworkers were very nice and very education9
Very small zoo, good for infants and toddlers. Highlights are the red pandas, tiger, and otters. A really inexpensive way to obtain AZA reciprocity at other zoos.
So wonderful! Different kind of small animals that I haven't seen in other zoos
Great place for kids, our family has been members for years now and we love it! Note that it is a small zoo, don't expect to get lost here.
Perfect small zoo for kids. Lemurs are the highlight, but also red pandas, a capybara and bald eagles.
Good Zoo nice and clean. Very Small. Only a handful of animlas. Good just for an hour or so. Toddler Loved the goat area!!
Free to visit through end of February and not crowded at all. Plus most of the animals are still out.
Great from the outside. Wasn't there to visit the zoo. I was there to park in lot and do some geocaching around the river.
It's a fun local place with very nice staff. Animals are enough to amuse my kids. Great focus on teaching about animals that are endangered.
Was fun first time there and during carona pandemic. Everyone was distant and nice
My favorite part of this zoo is the talking parrots and the flemmish giant rabbits. This is a small and cozy zoo but the animals are beautiful a NH d well taken care of.
A small but nice zoo.
Small zoo but very pleasant place to entertain the kids. In the process of expanding with a Madagascar exhibit.
Smaller size. The parking not best buy nice local zoo. Can tell doing best
Nice smaller zoo with a very helpful and informed staff. Great for smaller kids that may not be able to handle a larger zoo.
It's okay for little kids. Very small zoo. Great for petting goats or watching a bird show.
Small zoo with red pandas, eagles, snakes, goats, and chicken. easy parking and convenience location.
Love this little zoo built into the side of a hill the habitats are very natural looking and you get very close to the animals, close enough to get sprayed with tiger piss. Use caution 😬 …
Good little zoo with nice assortment of animals. Snack bar was very reasonable priced
Much, much smaller than I expected. I felt bad for some of the larger animals that were in tiny cages and belong at a bigger zoo. Still.....my son had fun.
It's small, but something to do!!
Wonderful little zoo. The staff is so nice and helpful if you need it. I had an awesome time there!
Awesome Zoo to take my grandsons aged 5 and 2.. quaint, very nice array of animals and friendly staff
Went to the zoo about a yr ago. First time there and it happened to be free. The kids loved it even though it is small.
Small zoo for a quick visit. Free parking and one could talk a nice walk along the river after the visit.
Not all that big. Was able to go through it in about half an hour. It is a good starter zoo for little ones as it is not over wellming.
Small but a beautiful setting. It took about 1/2 hour to go through but it was an enjoyable, clean and worth the drive.
Small zoo with friendly informative staff. Big Bird's got nothing on the Andean Condors. Kids will love it.
It is very lovely place to go with kids.
Small enough zoo that you can take young children and not have to spend a lot of time before they tire out.
Great little zoo.
Nice place to well worth your day. Decent atmosphere you would love all the animals and birds over here. Must recommend!
This park is small with not many animals but worth it if you have small children.
Free on Sundays, and has otters. A great little diversion for a part day, without the longer drive to a place like Philadelphia zoo.
Small zoo but we'll tended to and fun for the kids with lots of information and staff to ask question of
Just a great small zoo- perfect for anyone, especially families!
Small zoo but it doesn't pretend to be anything more. Good to do a quick visit with kids.
Wonderful, small local zoo. Great for small kids and short trips!
A great little zoo. A wonderful place to bring young kids
I feel bad giving them 3 stars however if you haven't been here, don't plan an all day trip, as it will only take you 30 mins at most to visit the whole zoo.
Good place for young kids... It takes max 30 minutes to an hour to go around..but the animals are taken care well.
Fair amount of animals and low admission prices.

Loved how cute the animals there are. Its not too big great for small kids and seniors .
Nice place. Small zoo but well maintained. Pleasant experience.
Very small zoo, I’d much prefer taking the extra drive to MD or even Philly zoo
It's small, great for small kids and people with bad feet/leg.
Great!! Sunday outing.. small but we enjoyed 😉 ourselves. …
Decent little zoo. Pretty location and great hiking in the surrounding area
Perfect place for young kids. Very walkable and nothing overwhelming for them. Affordable and pleasant.
Cute little zone in the middle of downtown wilmington with capybaras, a monkey house very inexpensive admission and a lot of fun for little children.
Small zoo but rich in quality. Zoo employees are very knowledgeable, too.

A place to see some animals and great place to bring your kids
Always a fun time. Years ago took my kids, now my grandkids.
It is small but still fun and right next to the park
Under construction and got rid of a bunch of animals, but ok for a short trip.
Great little zoo just off I95.
A walk in the park that happens to have some animals one usually wouldn't see whilst walking in the park

Nice, small, you don't walk much, there isn't much to see either, for the $7 you pay, you can't ask for more. I went on Saturday and it was windy so most of the animals aren't outside 😓, what I liked the most was red pandas and very cute goats
An excellent place for young children and a very relaxing walk
I wish it had many more animals. But it is clean and cosy.
Very nice place to walk with family.👌👌❤💪
A quiet place ideal to take children
