Reviews of ZooTampa at Lowry Park
K D
Such a fun place, my kids love it every-time we go. You buy a ticket once and it’s good for as many times back in the year that you want to come. It’s the perfect size park for kids to be able to do everything and see everything there without being too much. A nice fun day trip. There’s also two splash pads for when it gets hot, which is perfect ! Easy to navigate and the staff is always helpful when you need assistance. They have several rides. Some for little kids and some for bigger, as well as face painting & jungle gyms for the kids to play on as well. My family loves it.

Absolutely loved it here. Great experience and was well worth the money. You can spend many hours here. We spent about 3 hours here. Tons of different animals here and you can tell the zookeepers love their jobs and the animals. They have many backstage experiences as well for an additional cost. Tons of different shows to go see as well in the different regions of the world. Tons of food and beverage spots around the park so if you are in need of something they have it. Parking is free and overall we had a great time here!

We had a blast at this place. My boys were mesmerized by the the range of animals. Mommy, Daddy, and Auntie enjoyed the numerous beverages carts around the zoo. I give this place 5 stars but many of the animals were inside due to the chilly weather. Not the Zoo's fault but we didn't see the whole park. It's still deserves 5 stars based off what we saw.

This Zoo has some of the best natural habitats for their animals that we've seen. The staff is also great. The safari is worth the wait as well. We spent most of the day here and still didn't make all of the exhibits. The manatees are great to see up close. The water ride was such a blast for the kids that they went twice! We can't wait to come back again soon.

It's a little pricey, but worth it. The zoo has a very good layout with great views of the animals. Plus it has more kids activities and kid friendly rides than any other zoo I've ever been to. The safari ride is long enough to be enjoyable, but short enough that it doesn't drag on. The water ride is obviously fun when it's hot. There's a kids splash area but the primates and manatees are definitely the highlight, in my opinion.

We have year passes to the zoo. My family members meet here at least once a month.
The cousins love to play at the kid water park area, and the playground toward the middle of the park, past the carousel. My son has been coming here since he could walk. We have so many good memories here. I’ll put on the Zoo Show and he watches an episode before we go here, he gets so excited to see all the different animals.
We have pictures of him growing up visiting this park. The food is pricey and not the best quality, so we pack healthy snacks for our toddlers before we go. We bought the zoo cup, and would recommend others do so as well, free refills and it’s worth it if you’re going to spend the better part of a day here. We also try to go during the weekdays so there’s no wait for rides, open parking, and less people in the park generally.

We were really impressed with this zoo and it’s habitats! The manatee area was amazing and knowing they also rehabilitate etc is just awesome. The whole Florida section was great showcasing all the wildlife our state has. The layout and highly shaded walkways are well thought out and executed, not like some other zoos I’ve been to. They had a large variety of animals broken into regions as well as a lot of extra attractions and rides for children, which I’m sure parents will appreciate.

Absolutely loved this zoo; not to big and not too small but just right! It is also well maintained and the animals seem content and look very healthy. The staff was very friendly. What’s great for family with younger kids is that there is a area designated as Children’s Zoo.
I absolutely love the photos. You are asked to do various poses then they add animals to them when edited. If you purchase 4 or more it’s $10 per photo. I purchased 2 prints send all 5 photos on flash drive for $64 plus tax. The photos turned out beautiful and definitely get your money’s worth. I paid $20 for 1 photo at Bush Garden and quality was not as nice.
Great experience and would visit again if I return to Tampa. Oh, and I went around 3pm on a Wednesday and most were leaving so to me a great time to go because not crowed.

Its a nice place for Kids to roam around. Though the Cost per adult is 45.99$ and for kids above 3 years is 35.99$, they are running promotions where the Validity of this Ticket is till End of 2023. So if you haven't utilized today, you still have time to make use of it.
We saw animals like Tiger, Hippo, Rhino, African Elephant, Giraffe, Orangutan Monkey, Bear, Some Kids rides like Carousel etc...
Snacks and drinks available inside including Alcohol... They also have Safari rides. The area of this ZOO is not so big.. If you are not taking rides, you can complete everything by 2 hours max.
Alicia Lamanna
We really loved it. Went on 12/30/22 and got day passes which allows us to come back all of 2023 with the exception of some small black out dates. Well worth the money. Tigers, lemurs, many primates, kids area with splash pad, too many cool things to see to even mention. Would highly recommend going during Christmas season. Definitely will be back many times thanks to my family’s pay for a day 2023 admission
Linda Maloney
Despite the warm weather we had so much fun at the zoo. What I found interesting there were species of animals I have never seen before. There were plenty of places to get food. Activities for kids. Just had a pleasant day and will go back when it gets cooler outside
Jamie Butterweck
What a great day at the zoo, and what a great zoo to spend the day at!
The staff are wonderful and do their best to answer your questions. The signs, programs, and extra activities are extremely educational but in a super fun way.
The animals seem well cared for and appeared healthy, though they were a bit lethargic the day we were there and I dont blame them, it was in the upper 80's on December 28.
One of my favorite things about this zoo is that it isn't one of those huge and lumbering zoos, someone with mild walking disabilities, like myself, can still see everything in one visit.
We took advantage of their end of the year special and got 2022 for free (blackout dates apply) so we will definitely be going back.
TL;DR - great zoo, you should go!

Had a blast spending some time with my family. I saw a bunch of animals, wild animals. It was a great experience. I would recommend at least going on something like this with a friend or family. Staff were really nice. The name had changed from what it was before. They were professional at what they did. Benches are around and you can take a rest whenever you want to. Floors were kept clean and tidy. You can also grab a bite and enjoy some great safari but not this is a zoo. Restrooms are also available on site. Great experience!!!
Amy Buchanan
We got the season passes for our son's birthday. He LOVES going! Definitely worth it! His favorite is the creature shows. They have 3-4 through out the day featuring a different animal each time. We always have a good time when we go.
L K
Love being able to be a member and they do a great job doing special events/holidays along with being great during normal operating hours. Staff is great. Exhibits are well maintained and clean. Safari Pizza is really good especially on a hot day so you can beat the heat some and relax. They do have a small slash pad area for the little ones and an adult/bigger kids water ride you will get wet on that’s a lot of fun.
Mr. Barnes
My mother and I visited recently and had the best day! This zoo is amazing. Sights and events were top notch. The animals chats were good fun and informative. Food, beverages, and plenty of benches in the shade. We'll be going again and again.
marissa gulick
Always a great time! My job had our annual Christmas party here this year and we got access to the whole park for the full day, before & after our party. The zookeepers brought in animals for us to meet & learn about and we had a fantastic lunch. The Christmas lights around the park were beautiful & the staff did a great job of keeping the park clean despite the increased traffic.
Randolph J.
Free parking! Clean, family oriented, happy animals, encouraging healthy and safe ways to give back like recycling and learning about their rehabilitation program. I could go once a month, if I lived closer - not really much of a wait for anything, and it wasn’t terribly busy. It seemed to get a little more populated as the day went on. Scooter rental available, and the souvenir prices are about average. Grab an unlimited refill cup and make sure to catch a couple shows!
Zabdiel
I always look forward to visit again. Every time is as wonderful as the first time, or even better. First of all, you get the chance to view the animals from upclose and learn from them. Unlike many other zoos, they are really into conservation and promote ways to care for the species and their habitats, you'll see that most of their animals are vulnerable or endangered. Also, many of the animals at Lowry Park have babies, that alone tells you they are healthy and comfortable in their enclosures. I highly recommend it for all animal enthusiasts, specially families with children.
Dennis Phillippy
Nice zoo with lots to see. Maybe a bit on the small side but enough to keep you entertained for a couple of hours. The summer sun is brutal and unfortunately not a lot of air conditioned options. They do have a kids splash pad to help them cool down and have some fun.
LisaAnn Cooper
A great day at the zoo.
As someone who goes to many zoos in my travels, I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
I normally don't buy anything in the gift shops, but I could not resist the giraffe giraffe face tank top.
The weather was sweltering. I did appreciate the the fill up stations for the water.
Lunch was not terribly overpriced, as you might expect.. It was quality and tasty.
We only had one exhibit left, I believe it was Asia. We did not get too complete because it had begun to thunder with lightning strikes less than 10 miles away.
We were 3 generations ranging in age from 80 to 25. I recommend anyone who enjoys animals and nature to spend the day at Lawry zoo
Dianne
We visited this as part of Tampa’s City Pass while visiting the area. The City Pass is worth its money alone! The zoo was a great place to visit. We enjoyed the day and the many exhibits and animals. The layout of the park makes it easy to maneuver. There are places throughout the park to sit and refresh if needed. We would definitely visit the park again.
H H
What a great experience. The zoo has lots of interesting animals to see and fun stuff to do. There are some rides for both little ones and bigger kids, my 7 years old’s favorite is the water ride, she could not have enough of it. Parking is free and make sure you go early to have a shaded parking spot. The car does get really hot after more than half day parking there.
Anna Tallman
I LOVE THIS ZOO!!! It is a virtual gem!! My kids have been coming here their entire lives, even before we moved here, and now I'm thrilled to be so close to such an amazing place! The animals are beautiful, the grounds are stunning and extremely well kept, and the whole of the experience is one you'll come back for over and over again. This place is for everyone, all ages, credos, and walks of life. 15 out of 10, for sure.
Crystal Gilbert
I came to Florida for my birthday, it was my 1st time to the state and 1st time seeing the ocean. We bought the Zooquarium deal. It was a great deal we got into the zoo and the aquarium for about $70 and we had 7 days to use the tickets. We had a blast! I have no complaints it was worth every penny, I can't wait to come back!
Tara B.
Love this zoo. They are constantly looking for ways to enrich the lives of the animals they care for. Every employee I have encountered has always been very nice and super informative. I have a membership and make sure my grand baby gets one every year too. She absolutely loves it.
Erin Strickland
So much fun! The splash pad is awesome and the park for kids is cute. The animals all look healthy. Lots of shops. We had a great time with our 2 year old
M. Baco
Pretty good zoo! Been to lots of zoos so I have a full range of comparisons to bring to this review. They have an impressive amount of white rhinos (6-7 of them!) and have many unique bird and primate species. The kids had a blast. Tip would be that you can bring your own food and water into the zoo.
Alex Guzman
It was great! There was so much to see and do. The ticket price was a bit steep, IF you only want to use it for one day, but you can ask them to make it a year long pass, for no additional cost, and since they change things up frequently, it's absolutely worth the price since you can visit as many times as you want.
The manatee rehabilitation area is a great reminder of the fact that zoos serve in so many more ways, helping to rescue injured animals that would otherwise die, and helping to get them back to the wild.
The staff were all super friendly, and very helpful.
If I had to give one tip to anyone planning to visit it would be, download the app. It shows the schedule of events for the day, and acts as a portable searchable map showing your current location.
Marybeth Arenas
This is such a fun place for families of all ages. You get really great views of the animals and they always appear to be happy and healthy. It's big enough to make a day of it, but not so big that the younger ones will tire out too easily. There is something for everyone at Zoo Tampa.
Richard Snake
An excellent place to go with yours kids. The zoo has various animals, kids area with playground and splash pad, picnic area, restaurants, etc. The parking lot is free. The food is good, my family and I bought a large cheese pizza in a restaurant and that is just Wonderful, fries is very good too.
Lee Anne Wooten
Absolutely wonderful. I do not recommend the Quest option for $11.99. You will not see many animals except those on the quest. In my opinion it wasn't worth the money. The zoo itself was amazing. I took my 2 nieces and nephew and we had a blast.
Michael Mayo
Zoo tampa is definitely in my top 3 best zoos of all time. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about every animal they are in charge over. The tortoises interactions were amazing as well. The knowledge and care that go into the manatee rehab is next to none. Truly amazing work they do. We will always visit when we are in Tampa and even base trips around re visiting the zoo.
Mel W
This was a fun adventure. The zoo was really nice and the workers were very friendly. I definitely recommend this place for families. A lot of the bird enclosures were closed due to bird flu so I'm looking forward to when they open back up. I will definitely go back.
Logan Walters (Logan)
Really cool place. I have been coming here for years. Every time I come here there is always something fun to do. I would recommend coming here any time. We came here for the Christmas night and there hot coco was amazing. I would really recommend the reptile house. They have alot of cool snakes and there's huge fish. In general I would recommend this place to anyone anytime.
Kim Lewis
Love this zoo! As members I've brought guests ranging from young children to elderly family members and everyone has a great time.
These animals are loved and cared for appropriately. The manatee exhibit is a must see!
Krishna Kumar Kancharla
Visited during "Christmas in the Wild" theme which is available on select nights of December. Booked slot on the Zoo Tampa website using the "Pay for A Day Enjoy FREE admission" tickets. So, it was a Free entry for the whole family.
Had a great time especially the Kids with lights all along the Zoo both indoors and outdoors along with little cold weather.
Teresa Patterson
This zoo is perfect for families. So much to do and see that we have to return to see everything. My four-year old granddaughter loved the water park area so much it was difficult to pull her away. The safari ride is a great way to observe all the large animals and their habitats. Love this zoo!
Jim McGregor
Great place to take the kids or a date! The zoo is always a great time. Friendly knowledgeable staff, great exhibits and wonderful animals! Plus, the work they do with wildlife conservation is amazing! The animal encou ters are incredible! Gotta see the Macaws again! Careful though, they fly low! Almost took my hat off!!
Robert Walls
We had a really good time. The kids, and us, really enjoyed it.
There are plenty of animals to see, including the one we wanted to see, the Koala!
We did an animal experience, which we cannot recommend enough! The price, compared to others, was very reasonable. Which is important, because as a family of four, any price adds up fast.
Our encounter was on of the Rhino's. It was pretty amazing. Never did I think I would be able to pet a rhino! They take plenty of pictures, to include individual and group, so no need to have a camera for the encounter. Afterwards, just go to the kiosk, and they will put all of the pictures of you together, and give you a thumb drive with them to take home- or they will print them.
Mary Flores-Camacho
I was visiting from out of town. This was my second time to the zoo and was pleasantly surprised to see all of the new improvements. There is so much to keep small children entertained. From the animals, to the rides, to the splash park, it kept our 3 year old's attention. I would highly recommend this zoo.
Vince Meyers
Great day at the zoo. Come early to avoid the crowd. We particularly enjoyed The macaw flying exhibition, the Macaw Cafe was adequate but there are other choices in the park that sell pizza and chicken tenders. Manatee viewing and a small aquarium exhibit was nice too. Definitely a worthwhile experience. Buy your ticket in advance to avoid the 30 min line we experienced.
Anna Lawrence
We absolutely LOVE this zoo! We are annual pass members and this is our second year. I have kids ranging from 3-12 and they never get bored of seeing the animals! The splash pad and play area has many things to keep your littles busy on a hot day. I rated it 4/5 because I feel like the play area is often understaffed and rides often are without operators. As far as the animals go, the enclosures were recently remodeled and we love the new look! Definitely a great place for a day trip on a warm day!
Jason Fair (Nomadic Nerd Project)
Such a cute little zoo. They did the best zoo lights we've seen. The entire park was decorated for the holidays including fun family activities and performances only available during the zoo lights. It's the best we've seen in the country.
Jonathan Kehring
Zoo Tampa is the real deal of zoo’s. They have so many animals and experiences (for a fee) that you can get involved in. The staff does a good job with keeping the grounds and bathrooms clean. They have a whole inside arena for you to escape the hot sun grab something to eat and sit down to enjoy it. Prices are standard for a Zoo. My favorite was finally seeing a Komodo Dragon in person, they are one of my favorite animals that I only ever saw on TV before visiting Zoo Tampa. I was beyond excited when I seen it. I felt like a kid in the candy store! I would allowed at least 4 hours to get through everything at the Zoo. They do have limited parking even though I didn’t have an issue with parking during my visit. Zoo Tampa is a must visited. I promise, you won’t be disappointed and are guaranteed to have a great time with your family!
Jazz McCrazy
It is a wonderful small zoo. So many trees so you are not baking in the sun. There are smoking areas so it is nice for those that smoke. Loved how close you can get to the animals. If you would like a more intimate time with some animals they offer an encounter with many of them. I absolutely love that they rehab sick n injured manatees. You can see them in different stages of injury. Mind you the ultimate goal is to release them. They have soooo many birds. The only downside, n it may be because we have a hurricane looming, there were not as many animals in the exhibit's. It is definitely worth a visit. So much fun ❤
Mr. Richard
Came here with family and friends.
This was a pretty nice zoo although it seems a little less lively than it used to be a couple years ago. Water life, reptile, mammal, they’ve got almost all of it. It’s large enough that you’ll have things to see and walk around doing for well over a couple hours. I would recommend visiting.
Jenah Winkler
This zoo is fantastic there are so many animals to learn about here. I felt like the animals were very active and they they did not show any fear of people. Some of the animals that would get up very close to you which is quite a thoroughly experience For the little ones. The zoo was kept clean and tidy andThe staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the animals. They have a free safari that you can go on that was really engaging. The woman who was running our safari tour was very funny and her jokes were appropriate for all ages.
You can get barbecue chicken, Pretzels with cheese and other goodies throughout the zoo. They have a small bar section too. They have installed rides inside the zoo that look quite fun. I would have to say this is the best zoo I've ever been to. It's smaller than the zoo down in Portland but it has a lot more to offer. You get to actually see a lot of animals here I love it 🥰
Jess Probasco
We have a zoo membership and recently went for the holiday lights. They do a great job of decorating the park.
The animals are not all out at night but it was a fun experience and can’t wait to see the next event with the family.

A wonderful local spot!. We are pass members, so we go often. Love watching the babies now. And the otters and baby orangutan And howler baby are sooo fun to watch play. The water splash play area is good for us older kids to cool off in.
Just a wonderful little zoo.
T R
Such a nice zoo to go to!! They have a great variety of animals and activities for kids. 45 dollars for the “pay for a day go rest of year ticket”!! Their food was good as well.
Katie Geren
The variety of animals is really cool. We had a very big party so we purchased a membership because that was the cheapest option. Honestly, it wasn’t the best for little children. A lot of the times the toddlers in our group couldn’t see into the animal enclosures. It was a fun activity for the older kids in our group.
Brianna Sukop
I always enjoy visiting the zoo. This is a great spot to relax and look at a variety of animals from different locations around the world. It is a great place to take the kids or go on a date. Plus they have food and drinks available for purchase.
Angel Oak Adventures
Membership is worth every penny for the Holiday events alone! After opening up the new area, this kid-friendly, well designed park is a treat to anyone within an hour drive for a fun day trip! Photos are from the 2022 creatures of the night.
Jessica Colon
This zoo is amazing! Free parking. I come from Chicago so admission fee wasn’t too bad and plus free parking. This zoo has a great children’s area with little rides and petting zoo which is included with admission. A lot of different types of animals that I haven’t seen before in Brookfield zoo is Chicago. Beautiful landscape and viewing areas of the animals. The animals were actually roaming around and eating instead of just sleeping.
Davina Teter
First time visiting ZooTampa. My toddler loved it! She enjoyed exploring and pointing at all the animals. We did go a little late in the day so it wasn't as crowded. It wasn't too much for us to walk around/chase our toddler. Definitely a fun place for the family to all enjoy.
I didn't do my research ahead of time, but there's a little splash area for kids to run through. I know for next time!
Kym Zaja
$45 to get in per adult! I was shocked at that price but we had a membership to other parks so we got half price! That fee also gets you into the park the rest of the year so maybe it's not terrible if you plan on going again and again. Otherwise I think that's too much. We had a great time at all the exhibits, safari ride was an hour wait so we bypassed that. The other water ride was closed so that sucked. We pressed on. Shopping want outrageous as far as prices are concerned. You could get the kids something without breaking the bank anyway! Now on to food..... Yikes! Way too high for us! $15-20 for a burger or sandwich? I don't think so! Cafeteria food at best! So that was a big NO! Regular drinks were $7!!! THE BEST PART was the water splash pad! It was 90° so we ran around and got cooled off in the splash area and that was fun! Overall we had a great time and would go again next year!

12/30/21 - ORIGINAL REVIEW - Very cute zoo. Lots of things to do with the littles. Rides are free. The yearly pass is very much worth it. Didn’t get to finish roaming around by my favorite so far were the orangutans. They were so cute!
01/20/22 - UPDATE - We went back to the zoo and let me tell you, we had such a great time. The first visit was a bit hectic because it was during holiday break. It literally seemed like all of Tampa was there. But this time around, there were barely any people there which made it so much better to navigate and stop to see the animals. Only downer was that there were a few missing animals and the safari was still an hour wait. Hoping next visit we can go on safari. We paid the price of one ticket for the rest of ‘22 which I think is beyond worth it. Can’t wait until the warm weather comes to see how the splash pad is.
Jennifer Hodges
We were able to see most of the animals out when we went, kids had a blast. Love the pay for a day go free the rest of the year deal. Will be going again. The rides are fun for Littles. If your kids are over a certain height, I think about 46/47inches they can't go on some of the little rides.
Jenn Brown-Whale
Visited by myself around 10am on a Monday in February. The place was practically empty. General admission price for an adult seems high. The orangutans and the manatees were my favorite, both very active. I did not buy food or pay for any extras. Lots of families eventually started coming in.
Zoya Mills
Much nicer than Miami zoo! Lots of animals that you can actually see. Small enough zoo to cover the whole place in a short time. Food and snacks everywhere. Fun shows. Great animal encounters.
Erin Predmore
I bought a year pass. Loved seeing all the new babies. Looking forward to the expansion to open. The food prices are not as bad as other parks. It's really a nice park, but I go for the Orangutangs!
Mark Curtis
Overall great for the kids, but a bit pricey for adults to enjoy - recommend limiting to one parent if possible. Good variety of animals. I could have sat and watched the manatees gorge themselves on leafy greens for a few hours if my toddler let me. Some of the rides were down, and it seemed like some of the animal exhibits were inaccurate on the app map. I would plan on 3-4 hours max, there isn't a ton of content. Kid napped for 3+ hours after we left so overall a success 😏
gooffy Golf
A nice zoo in Tampa, it also have mini amusement park here for kids to enjoy while visiting here. We saw Manatee first time here, love it. Good place to bring your kids to enjoy on your free day. It also has mini show around the zoo, pls check the zoo schedule.
Dean Humpherys
The zoo was a lot of fun! The animal exhibits are large and seem to be well taken care of. Our kids loved it too. My only complaint is that the map is rather confusing and the paths aren't laid out very intuitively. A few of the rides were broken down when we visited too which was a bummer. Luck of the draw I guess. The price is steep for a single visit but they do offer the ability to come back again until Dec 2023 so if you can go again it makes it worth it.
CocoAries White
Nice zoo. And plenty to see. They have a nice kids area. They have a few rides. The water ride was closed the day I went, but they have a kiddie rollercoaster which my kids loved. The manatee walkthrough area was really great. They have your typical zoo animals. I've arrived about 2 hours after the park opened and there was no parking in the main entrance. But If you exit the park to the left there's additional parking. People were parked on the grass too. But it was a weekend day.
TJ Hapney
We came down from north Florida and had a great time at their winter holiday event. My granddaughter loved it. Animals seemed healthy and happy and was clean inside and outside of pens. Staff was great and helped me track down my prescription sunglasses I left at security. They called to follow up a couple days after, but I was lucky enough to get them back the night I lost them. We'll be back, I'm sure.
Heather Bindeman
Clean, Friendly Staff Throughout The Park. We Missed A Lot Of Animals Due To Them Not Being Out. The Kid's ( all 8 ) Were So Looking Forward To Seeing The Tigers 🐅 Especially But They Weren't Out Sadly All Day. We Were There From 11 to 5 closing time.
Can't Wait To See The Florida Section Finished.
Samantha Hannah / Realtor
Such a beautiful and well designed zoo. This is probably the best Zoo I have ever been to; filled with so many beautiful trees, plants and so much to do! I had a great time! Definitely recommend this place when visiting Tampa!
Jory Campbell
Very enjoyable place. The employees were super nice and helpful! And the place was just the right size and there were plenty of animals to see! The only downside was the parking lot which definitely needs some repairs. Other than that it's a great place to take your family!
Kimberly Mayo
Went with our son and his family and really enjoyed seeing the animals. It was all decorated for Christmas with really pretty decorations. The kids loved the lorikeets and orangutans! It was a very nice walk thru and I would recommend it to everyone!
Kelly Barto
Always enjoy leisurely walking around the zoo. I've gone on weekdays and weekends and haven't had any problems being able to see the animals. The restaurant that is located near the entrance has delicious food. Their French fries were a favorite among everyone in my group.
Ellen Lindow
Our family has loved this zoo for nearly 40 years. It's just the right size to bring little ones, with plenty of trails and room to roam without being overwhelming. And without overwhelming the pocketbook! I can spend time just sitting and watching the manatees from the underwater viewing area. And my grandson's favorite is the Roaring Springs flume ride so I spend a lot of time sitting there, just people watching. And the carousel is beautiful, and we all love the chance to ride it. We also enjoy their lights at Christmas.

Excellent experience at this zoo! Wonderful exhibits, along with up close encounters with some amazing animals. Rides & splash pads for kids, great staff. Highly recommended visiting.
Kevin Kendrick
My first time at Lowry Park Zoo . I had a good experience .We picked a great day for it wasn't too hot. In the kids area there is water feature that kids can play in. I am assuming because of a long shutdown several things were closed , but still a great place to spend a half a day or more with kids. Right now if you buy a day pass you will get to go the rest of 2022 for free.
Ali Burck
Such a nice little zoo with great areas. It is smaller so it's not a whole day thing unless you really like to take your time with the animals. I went on a Monday so it wasn't too bad in terms of crowds. Loved seeing so many of the animals I haven't seen at other zoos. Kind of expensive but I get it to have good amenities and they do a lot of conservation work so i dont mind. I definitely recommend checking out the Nat Geo Secrets of the Zoo Tampa tv series (3 short seasons on Disney+) as it really helped prep me for what I wanted to see here. Getting there early and buying tickets ahead of time makes entry super fast. They do check bags.

We always have a wonderful time at ZooTampa. The kids really enjoy the play area, animals and the entire park. We’re repeat pass holders for years. All though we’ve moved to Orlando we frequently visit. Bring water, sunscreen and plan to take a ton of photos!
Gabe
This is an extremely fun zoo. They even had rides! A little log flume and roller-coaster. The log flume had no line and we got soaked. That kept us cool
J Erickson
We had a great experience at Zoo Tampa today! Every staff member we came across was so friendly and kind. Staff can really make or break a place. This is just a great place for family to spend the day. We also took advantage of the pay for a day ticket which allows us to come back for the rest of the year. We can’t wait to go back again!
Karyna T.
Such a nice zoo! It’s a perfect size with lots of activities for the kids. My toddler is almost 2 years old and he had a blast! We will definitely be returning.
Demonrulez Leiva
There were a ton if animals and my favorites were definitely the koala and the sea otters. They are amazing creatures. The sea otters were really active. But maybe you should be the judge of that. I loved my experience here at the zoo. It was beautiful and very active during my visit.
Autumn
We had a lot of fun. We got there around 1pm on a weekday but all the restaurants and shops were closed by 3pm. We had fun though and getting to see some of the animals there for rehabilitation was great.
Bonnie Cantrell
Had to take off stars.
This zoo is starting to be less and less family friendly. Barely anything in Wallaroo anymore.
Prices are completely out of hand. $32 for a mediocre cheese pizza that can't even feed a family?!
The changes to the Florida boardwalk are nice.
So many areas that seem neglected, either under utilized or not being used at all.
Higher prices with less to do, eat and see.
Margarita
Take your kids and enjoy animals and Creatures of the Night. I was here second time and it still interesting like at first time. Zoo has different locations and activities during day.
Carmen Montalvo
Beautiful ❤️ visit. I love the animals they look happy. It was very hot today. Bring water clothes for the little ones. You can bring drinks and snacks that is a plus.
Nsncy Muggelberg
ZooTampa is a wonderful experience in the day, at night, magical. Granted most the critters are sleeping or in their 'barns' but the themed areas lighted and staff costumed experiences make it just as wonderful of an experience.
My niece wanted to visit the zoo so we chose the Christmas night experience. So worth it!
BleedingEyes _
We had so much fun and a lot of great memories there! We learned so much and got to experience some interesting animals. The Siamangs had everyone mesmerized listening to their songs. Watching the rhinos poop was memorable, and the bats had a cute area to sit and watch. The dip ‘n dots were delicious and left me smiling and satisfied. Can’t wait to go back!!!
Adriane Guerreiro
I LOVE this place so much! Getting the membership was the best decision. The place is great, the staff is always nice and there is a kids zoo with rides which is so helpful for parents with little ones
True
Great place took the year family plan. So I can go as many times as I may want within the year. The water ride was under maintenance so that was upsetting but my little ones enjoyed everything.
K. Miller
The evening Christmas event is great. While some of the animals were snoozing or trying to stay warm, there was plenty to see and no crowds. Pizza was delicious too.
Tiffany
First time visitors, had a great time! Got a pretty decent burger and fries from the first restaurant near the entrance (a little pricey, which is to be expected $9 for a kids meal $13-$15 for an adult burger). Spent 4 hours and didn't finish the entire zoo. Of course we have a toddler so spent over an hour in the kids splash zone and riding the rides (included in the admission). The petting zoo was a little anticlimactic. A nice day to spend with the kids! Be ware of the gift shops they are $$$$ but Will be going back for more fun.
Irene Conley
Open year round (but not all rides and concessions are available during off peak season). Animal encounters are well worth it! Go early in the day when the animals are active.
Tori J
By far the cleanest zoo I've visited. Animals appeared well cared for and the staff were knowledgeable and friendly. We really enjoyed our visit and will be back again.
Cat neon
Great zoo, crowed but we went during the holidays still once inside it didn't feel uncomfortable. Food was expensive but pretty decent street corn and nachos were great. It felt smaller than we expected but still lots to see and made for an awesome day! Staff was really great clean facilities and bathrooms great job!!!
Cassi Miyama
Staff is largely friendly and happy to work there. Zoo is doing some construction but remains clean and open! Just a nice day overall.
Not too crowded on a weekday.
Pay for a day come back all year tickets are a good value.
David S
This zoo was great. The exhibits were in great shape, staff was very friendly, and the animals all seemed happy. Really glad we took a day to go check it out.
amanda ortiz
A little pricey in my opinion but definitely a good place for children. They got a whole section for the little ones. And the family annual passes seem like a great deal if you go frequently.
Keith Gow
ZooTampa is by far the best zoo I have ever been to. It is well laid out, the enclosures are exceptionally well designed and if I was an animal and had to live in a zoo, that's where I'd choose to live. There were different species from every region and the verious species were very active and entertaining especially the birds. The crowds were light so we got prime views wereever we went. We went in February, the day was overcast and warm but not too hot. I would recommend this zoo over any other.
Zark Muckerberg
Haven't been to a zoo in 25+ years but I really wanted to see the shoebill stork. Closest thing to a living dinosaur we have on earth. Only got half way through the park and never made it to the Australia part. Will be back soon to continue. The koala wasn't in the Australia part but was next to boomers Cafe. If that was Australia it was the only part we saw before we had to leave
Deanna Stotler
Very nice zoo in Tampa. Parking is free. Recommend getting there early and pre-purchasing tickets. There are various different exhibits that have unique animals not typically seen at the zoo as well as what you're used to seeing. The gift shop is also very nice and has cool memorabilia.
Kaitlyn F
The Tampa Zoo is an extraordinary zoo experience. There are so many unique animals to see. The waits were minimal and there was plenty to do. From live feedings to upclose encounters, this is a must do zoo!
Sarah Mae
It was a nice zoo in Tampa with a variety of animals & things to do. They had a lot of spaces for a parking lot. It was busy on a Saturday, but this was the weekend of MLK so it makes sense. It was expensive to get in - $45 and the selection of animals was just okay. They also had a huge kid section with a roller coaster & a water park area. You can tell this is a tourism area for families.
I will say that their displays were nice & you could see the animals up close, whereas other zoos do not do that. I recommend this to young families but be aware of expenses.
Joe Jaquet
Great place for a Family Day. Still expanding, but lots to see. They even have some water features (Splash Fountain and. Boat Ride that definitely gets you wet)
Brent Warner
I remember coming to this zoo as a kid and felt the same joy seeing my own experience the zoo. Really great to see it again, excellent experience and nice to see rides still operating.
Trinity L
Smaller than some other zoos I have been to but overall, great stop to spend an hour or two (depending on whose in your party and what time of day you stop by). They currently have a great promotional offer right now so you pay for a day and can come back all year for free! That coupled with free parking (which is generally rare for zoos) makes this quite a find. There are a good variety of animals here and the layout is great to walk around and not feel to exhausted getting from one section to the next. The grounds are quite clean but the bathrooms were horrible. They were a mess and many of the stalls didn't have the necessary supplies stocked. With that being said, they do have a lot of food/beverage concessions stands with quite a variety of options to fit everyone's needs! There is a few small rides for kids, a "petting zoo" (you can pet the goats IF they come up to you through a fence so call that what you wish) and many areas for kids to play. I'd say this zoo is definitely more geared for younger kids but overall it is a good place to kill some time!
Rick Kuzdak
Wonderful zoo. Clean & nicely designed. Very enjoyable experience. Pleasant & helpful staff. Will definitely return & hope to enjoy a signature encounter or two.
Mols Mama
Really liked the Zoo. The food was surprisingly good. I was disappointed in the number of closed exhibits and closing a portion of the zoo for some event without giving prior notice. The behind the scenes look at manatee rehabilitation was well done.
Joe Ferrante
The kids and I enjoyed seeing all the different kinds of animals. The bathrooms were clean and conveniantly throughout the park. Most of the ride attractions and some of the interactive animal exhibits we're closed the day we went, I'm guessing due to staffing issues. All and all it was a very enjoyable visit.
Matt V.
It was a nice zoo. Granted we didn't go on the best weather day but the zoo wasn't anything special. It seemed small, especially for the price of admission.
Kath Jones
A lovely zoo with the highlights being the urangutans and the manatees. Well sign posted and plenty of cafes to buy drinks and food. We felt sad that some of the animals were on there own and looked quite lonely, but they all looked healthy with clean cages.
etian contreras
One of my favorite places to visit in the Tampa area. Beautiful exhibits. Very friendly staff. I love the conservation work that they do.
Great food too.
Stephanie V
I went to this zoo for the first time with my family and it was very nice. It was clean, had variety of things. Staff was good, the only thing I would have appreciated was if all the water were turned on. We was around the kids area and they have some water attractions for kids that were turn off. It was a really hot day and this would have cool everyone down.
K “Five Nights At Lolbits” Jones
Animals seem well taken care of. Staff I've encountered have been friendly. Drinks and food are high priced but average for such a place. You can often find something affordable in gift shop so taking home a souvenir won't break the bank. My daughter picked an owl plush today, under $10. While touring at a leisurely pace it typically takes us 3hrs to see all exhibits. You can add in shows and/or an animal encounter to make it a longer trip. I (still) just wish the paths were a little better marked. Some paths need a little work, they make the wheelchair ride rough but overall they're good. They updated the pass to allow for monthly pay. They range from $9 - $19 a month. The $19 is 2 named adults, 1 adult guest, and all children.
Steve Zebrowski
U haven’t been here in about 10 years it’s actually a really good zoo. Had a good time and nicely laid out I will be back again in the future I was there for the Xmas lights at night and missed a lot of the exhibits and rides that closed early at 4 pm that day.
Lynn Williams
My first time here and we were not disappointed. Great staff, good food, lots to see and do. I became a member and we will most definitely be back! 🙂 …
J. Collins
Here, you have a very well maintained and respected ZOO, and it is within a residential setting. Kudos to all the workers and management.
Go to Disney+ and watch National Geographic's filmmaking and interview with some of the current personnel
Visiting the zoo(they have rides, and of course a safari tour)or watching the NG Special will not disappoint.
Anna Lee
So many activities for toddlers here! Could be cleaner but a very fun place for kids. My 2 year old had a blast.
Hallie G.
We absolutely adore this zoo. The animals are very well taken care of, and they have so many options for special encounters. It's always very clean. The burgers & hot dogs are really good, and so are the drinks. If you have kids, pack clothes for the splash pad! I love that all of the rides are included with the price of admission. We are members and go often!
Dianne Sims
Wonderful zoo. Get there when they open to see the animals at their most active. Skip the Safari Expedition unless walking is an issue, you'll see more and better views on foot. And don't miss the manatee feeding! And spend time in the Aviary
Janet Morton
It's a great adventure, with lots to see . My husband and I, did one adventure with African penguins. Outstanding. Presentation with Rachel. Little warm but overall fantastic.
doug baker
The Tampa zoo looks pretty rough. 3/4 of the animals were put up or nowhere to be seen. No Okapi, no wild dogs, hippo, no stingrays, and many others. There were fans around blowing on you that were rusted in half with big pieces flying off of them as they were shakily running. The elephants had no covering on their structure that was supposed to have a tarp over it so they can stand under it. While areas shut down for private events or closed for some reason. How can you charge 45 or $50 per person to come in just to look at some palm trees?
Mary Kuhn
Awesome as always. Only negative the walk around from handicap area to get to gate, should have an entrance for those parked in that area to get in there. My dad has trouble walking and from parking in front in handicap area we mid as well have parked in normal parking because you have to walk a pretty good distance. Otherwise it's still a good as ever even without the rainbow bridge
Kyla Webb
Only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because areas dead end and you have to loop around a lot. They have a Wendys Frosty cart in the children area that makes Sundaes. There are a few rides as well aimed at smaller kids. They do a African safari but when we were there all the animals were much closer by walking around the enclosures and the people in the safari truck barely saw anything.
John Manfred
Awesome Zoo, very well layed out! Loved the rhinos and the bears! Looking forward to coming back again soon. Great family destination for sure.
Julia Kiser
Don't miss the Florida Wilds bear & panther chats. Cool down inside the manatee underwater observation windows. Great experience and so well maintained. The animal "chats" are so informative. Pay for a day and return for free the rest of the year (with a few exceptions).
Audra May
Lots of fun for the family. Took my grand son, he had a blast. Lots to do, animals to see, rides, games, play ground, splash pad, safari, carrousel and, snacks. It was decorated so cute for the kids for Halloween. Buy a ticket and get to come back for the whole year. We will be going back!
Elena Christinne
One of our favorite Florida zoo because of the Shoebill stork.
You can witness the care and love for the animals they have here. There's so much for everyone in the family.
There distribution allows you to explore every area of the zoo.
Bring water it gets really hot during summer time.
Also if possible take advantage of their passholder prices if you're a Florida resident, makes the visit more affordable.
Tony Stefanski
The improvements done to this Zoo since the last time I was there is breathtaking. If you haven't been to this Zoo, or haven't been in a while, Go. Lots of areas to sit and rest or just admire the animals.
Anastasiia Belaya
Great place, lots of animals that I have never seen in my life. Received a lot of positive emotions. It will be interesting for both adults and children. Thanks for such a great place!
sabrina genao
If i had to say 1 thing is don't go to the Africa expedition I waited 1 hr and 30 mins for a 20 minute ride around the Africa portion of the zoo. You can see all the animals you could see on the expedition if u just walked around. You'd probably be able to see them better too. But I digress I love lowery I've been coming since I was a kid. Hot dog was 6 bucks and was good.i would say tho that's bc it's so hot rn the bird feeding near the komodo dragon isn't always available since the birds don't get so hungry when it's hot.
Michael Mathews
Great time at zoo. The fans and cooling areas helped a lot. We had a good time and got educated by the staff. Will come back.
Ashton Zellars
10/10 would go again. Take some devil's lettuce and enjoy some beautiful animal's... Only downside is to many children. I wish they had like an adult only time so we can avoid the chaos that is children running around.
sean thompson
Great zoo, loved seeing the manatees and all the other animals. Liked not having to pay for the rides and other attractions inside the park
Berta B
Fun experience with the kiddos while in Tampa. We enjoyed seeing all of the animals and loved how they were grouped into sections based on continents. Great family-friendly option to try if you’re in the area.
Benn D
Had a great time, wasn’t crowded at all.(We went on a Wednesday.) Lots of animals spotted out and about in the morning.
Enclosures were placed well, the whole day was an adventure around the bend.
Just wanted to add mornings are best times to see the animals, by midday early afternoon they seem to go into “hiding” back in the shaded areas.
Veronica Talbott
Such an amazing zoo. We absolutely love visiting. I think my favorite part is how affordable the experience option is with the animals.
Dragon Gurl
We took the grand kids to the zoo. They liked the animals especially the lions and the gators. They like the splash pad too along with the playground.
TheSpaghet
It was a really fun time and a great experience overall, durring Christmas time they have light shows and and music playing and obviously plenty animals to see. the only drawback was I could not find any primates dispite seeing a sign for the (I only saw 2 orangutans)
Ravindra Vankadara
Very Nice and well Maintained zoo
So many Animals and people who working at Zoo are great and taking care of those animals for further generations.
Parking can get easily and free of cost with Zoo ticket
Magan Ratcliff
Very clean, fun atmosphere for the family. Not too expensive especially with their pay for a day go all year program. Free parking, free rides. Great for the entire family
Chelsea Shaw
My family and I spent my son’s first birthday here and we had an amazing time. We can’t wait to come back.
Con: The food is crazy expensive and tickets are double the price they were before the pandemic but overall worth the experience.
David Lynch
Very nice Zoo that is laid out into different regions of the world. The manatee exhibit is probably the best part, giving you a great view of the creatures above and below the surface of the water.
Travis Miller
Took my 2 year old to creatures of the night, it was a blast !!!!my really enjoyed himself just as much as me amd his mother. The staff are super nice ,great experience!!!Definitely worth getting year passes
Miranda Nicole
This was the best zoo I have ever been too! It was large and not over crowded, and not overpriced. Despite the rain, the gift store had ponchos and umbrellas for sale so we could still enjoy the day. There was a wide variety or animals, as my favorite were the rescued manatees. Wonderful place with awesome staff. Will definitely come here again.
Felipe Reyes
Nice zoo unfortunately not all animals were able to be seen. Was hoping to see some snake exhibits, but unfortunately none existed here.
Tammy T Martin
We went there on Sunday afternoon. It was a little crowded. No face masks required. You should pack some snacks for your kids or you will have to wait in a long line. The only thing I didn’t like is the restroom cleanliness but we sure have some fun!!
Ps.If you stay until almost 5, you might get a chance to see the zookeepers feed the animals with only some fews people left :)
hawra alnabi
My first time visiting this zoo from MN. It’s a beautiful zoo and definitely one of the best I’ve visited. We saw animals that we haven’t seen before at other zoos. It’s clean and the animals look like they’re taken care of. They have an aquarium as well as an exciting bird sanctuary. It’s definitely a fun place for the family and kids.
chelsea greenhalge
I absolutely love this Zoo. Our family had the pay for a day return all year passes this year, however I definitely think we will be upgrading to a membership for 2023!
Sydney Mari
Very cool place to take your kids, besides all of the interesting animals they have a little train, splash pad, and a kiddie rollercoaster. Sounds odd but if you’re allergic to bees watch out.. idk if it was the drink we got or what (flamingo icee) but there were bees everywhere, in the stroller, our backpack, there were also bees swarming around the garbage cans so it may have been the drinks. So many bees 😳 . Besides that disclaimer it was a fun time, I plan on coming again :)
Draven Blaze
Such a beautiful zoo. Went with family and we enjoyed it very much. My favorite part was either watching the Otters or Manatee.
The King
Had a great time. I would say to bring a hand towel because you will sweat from the walking. Also wear a hat and good shoes not sandals!
Pamela Kerns
This is a great Zoo! The addition of the Florida animals made it fun to go back and revisit. Loved being able to see the manatees close up.
Abney Family
This was a great experience for our daughters 9th birthday. We bought the family pass & will be sure to make this a frequent place to visit!
Meng Thao
Great zoo. Wide walk ways. Clean bathrooms and paths. Plenty of parking.
I specially like the different themes such as Asia, Africa, etc. The animals were very active and came very close to us.
Price for snack and drink was reasonable like most zoos. Lots of shops, sitting area, and bathrooms throughout.
You can save a few dollars by purchasing tickets online. Plus, you can skip the ticket lines at the entrance gate. The kids rides are included. Short but still fun. The zoo does have a nice water theme play area so go prepared.
Jose Meraz
family friendly, awesome zoo. bird cages, African animals including a family of elephants. apes, plenty of food and clean washrooms.
Sarah T.
If you have the money to do one of the add on experiences, I would highly recommend doing the face to face with the Aldabra Tortoises. Not only do you get to work with some very knowledgeable staff members, but you get to love on these sweet babies and take pictures with them. What more could you ask for? 10/10 would highly recommend this for anyone coming to the zoo.
Nicole Anderson-Brandford
If I should use one word to describe this zoo it would be AWESOME! I felt like I was taking a tour through a real jungle, I had a blast and will definitely go back.
Lisa Le
Our family had a wonderful time visiting Lowry Park. My 3 year-old enjoyed almost everything, but it was getting to see the manatees up close that captured her heart. She rarely ever sits still, but she sat there in awe for 10 min while listening to her daddy share stories/facts about these gentle giants. We can’t wait to go again 💚
Kristan Flores
I love this zoo. It’s smaller than what I’m used to with The Jax and Philly zoo but nice. The only issue we had today was the food my husband was given raw chicken tenders. He brought them back and the cook yelled at him saying he knows how to cook. First time ever having a problem here. This will not stop my family from coming back only eating here.
Faith Ebersole
Wonderful zoo, love that the parking is free and the little safari ride is free as well. They have a kids coaster and a water splash ride as well. The Wendy's frosty stand was so cute. Lots of animals to see and they have an area under construction where they will be adding more. Get the city go pass and you get admission here, plus 2 aquariums, Busch gardens, and a dolphin cruise for only $120 a person.
Mary Cross
Reasonably priced one day pass. Discounts available,Military is one of them. Huge zoo with lots of things to see and do Restaurants, snack bars, alcoholic drink bars, and family rest areas. Rides for adults and children. They have water splash park also Handicapped accessible
Morgan Beck
First time at Tampa zoo! We loved it. Definitely will be coming back. We even got the yearly pass!
Jim in the snake and Manatee area was the best! He gave us information about the snakes and was very nice!
Gary Cohen
We had a fantastic experience feeding the Greater one-horned Rhinos Jamie and Johnny. We had an opportunity to see Gronc their offspring and the staff was very knowledgeable, upbeat, and patient. Can’t wait to go back and see these Rhinos again!
The rest of the zoo was also a great time to walk around with an expansive Florida, African, Asian habitats with special sections for primates and a kid friendly “Wallaroo” exhibit.
TLDR: A great time but I would recommend paying extra for the expeditions, buying tickets online to enter quickly and hassle free, and expect to have a 5-10 min walk from parking location depending on availability.
Additional Info: there are designated smoking areas within the park and there are a lot of children as this is a great opportunity for them to learn but it can lead to loud or chaotic environments.
Melissa Geltz
Great time! We got in about 12p and stayed until 6p for a little bit of the creatures of the night. Overall it was a great experience and lots to see.
We did the refillable alcohol drink for a more adult experience 🤣
Thomas Libbin
Nice little zoo, alot buildings closed. Some sections closed, like the Florida exhibits, but still charge $45 a person to get in
Javier Ortega
Great, educational experience. My wife and I don't have kids and we really enjoyed ourselves way more than what we thought we would. Definitely fun for all ages and totally worth the price of admission.
Jonathan Hinerman
My wife watches the TV show about the Tampa Zoo. We decided to come to Tampa primarily for this Zoo. I will say, I was expecting it to be a bit bigger. However, basically every single exhibit is actually used unlike most Zoo's where a good 50% is empty. I could tell they do some really good work here. My wife was super happy with the trip.
janet Perez
ZooTampa has an array of hidden gems along each path. The animals were pretty active and we only encountered maybe 2-3 exhibits that were not open. The parking lot gets crowded. As crowded as parking was the zoo itself was not overly crowded. The whole area was clean and inviting.
They have a kid area with rides and a splash park. The splash park is free and great for cooling off :) (not sure about the rides)
Plenty of eating areas to satisfy you including ice cream and Kona ice.
** vending is expensive. 4$ for Gatorade but was charged 8$?? Not sure why.
Over all experience was really great. Got season passes and can not wait to return.
Kylee Cox
This is one of my most favorite places. The animals are well cared for and seem to be happy. The primates and birds are always playing. And there are so many different species having babies. The Zoo is never over crowded and they are always doing so much to make it better.
Heather Dougherty
ZooTampa is one of our favorite spots. It is much more than just a zoo with a littler roller coaster, an awesome playground, an amazing manatee viewing center, and very fun Halloween and Christmas celebrations.
John Smith
My children and I travel Florida visiting state parks and zoo's. This is one of the best ones to visit by far. I love coming here and it is fun multiple times a year. My son made me ride the water coaster 6 times which ended in alot of wet clothes.... Can wait to come back. Only thing I would have liked was more interaction during the special encounters.
Daniella Wycoff
Such a great time! Definitely loved feeding the birds! Food was very good and everyone was so nice and friendly!
John Fiske
This was my first time visiting this zoo. While it is not as large as other zoos I have visited nor was well maintained, it was a very nice experience.
The staff were professional and go out of their way to try to be helpful. There are numerous exhibits and animals from all over the world. It was an informative and excellent experience.
I was particularly impressed by the lack of hidden fees. There was ample parking and it was free. There are several rides that were good for young children up through teenagers. Adults can ride with very young or height challenged children so they can experience them too. There were no additional charges for any of the rides or shows. Food and drink prices were quite reasonable.
I highly recommend this zoo. This will be a repeat place for us to visit.
Juli Halifax
Great zoo with plenty of animals to see and activities to keep adults and children busy. Very clean. The food in the restaurant is surprisingly very good!! I'd say better than most big theme parks. I recommend getting the annual pass and coming back to visit weekdays, and for the Halloween and Christmas events.
Emily Bean
Love this zoo! The macaw fly overs are so much fun. Lots to do and see. If you are local, get a family membership. It's well worth it.
Scotty Barnes
Pretty good day there. Some attractions closed for renovations. Kids missed the horses and goat area. Oasis restaurant was short staffed, bit the girl at the counter was doing her best. For the price it's not bad.
Derrick
Had a good time. Much to see, and FREE parking!
Pro tip- this Zoo is included in CityPASS and will make the visit cheaper.
Mikas M
Great day at zoo. Not many people on Sunday. We had line free water rides. Got wet and happy.
Stephanie Jordan
We bought a pass so we can visit anytime we want, we love the zoo and if you get the chance you should come see this zoo, it’s featured on secrets of the zoo
andy wang
April is the best time come to FL, temperature around 87 ,low humidity, happy family time, there’s restaurants inside, refill your energy.
TJ
I've been to the zoo a few times, and it's always enjoyable. There are lots of things to do for kids of all ages.
sandra birberick
Best Zoo in Florida!! Beautifully landscaped and awesome animal exhibits. The Elephant encounter was amazing!! The park was clean and the employees were very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Great experience!!
Denys Ivashyna
We loved this zoo from the first visit. I can definitely recommend it for anyone to have a great weekend.
Maureen Schnitzer
We really enjoyed spending 3 hours at the zoo. We both felt that the areas for the animals were inadequate, small with no stimulation. It was really sad to see some of these animals just surviving. The wolf's were playing with each other but otherwise SAD.
Andrei Barna
The whole Zoo is ready for Halloween filled with shows and sets and haunted house and costumes characters! It was a “scary “ experience for all ages. The reservation was $5. / person and you get a $5/person voucher valid for the day
Doug Epps
Awesome Zoo. The Family are members of the Jacksonville Zoo & try to stop at any Zoo's the we find ourself in the same town as. The Tampa zoo has great enclosures for the animals & a wide variety of Amina that the Jackdonville zoo does not have. All around great day. The 3 Shoebill's are half of what is in the US.
Tonya Johnson-Jenkins
Great zoo! We especially loved the safari ride! Military discount here!
Zein Ferdousi
So much to see and do as a family. The zoo is in sections so if you're a local you could take time to tackle one or a couple at a time. Many animals and birds, fun rides and activities!
Catherine
ZooTampa was amazing and had so many wonderful exhibits. We were so happy with all the benefits included with the price of admission.
Eugenia Murray-McGinnis
We had a wonderful time at LPZ. We brought our 18 month old Grankids and I wasnt sure how much they would enjoy it. Well they loved it. They squealed in pleasure at the animals and smiled and clapped their hands on the rides. I highly recommend this zoo, it is so much more than a zoo!
Kym Hessing
The Zoo itself was wonderful. Awesome place for the kids. They loved it. It's better than the big crowds at the big amusement parks. Only problem I had was a big black snake came out of the scrubs and touched my foot which I'm terrified of snakes. So I had to leave the park early due to anxiety and didn't carry any meds to relax and my grands didn't like that. It was their first time going. One day we'll try it again.
Tricia Sellner
Nice zoo for families. Not too spread out, but plenty of well kept animals.
Angie Lewis
Would LOVE to give it 5 stars but was not made aware of how many sections were closed right now when I purchased the yearly membership today. The park was very clean and well maintained. Many beautiful plants and amazing animals to appreciate! Family friendly spots to cool off in!
Donald Eberhardt
You get to have a up close experience with animals that you normally would never see and you can also learn alot of stuff that you didn't know b4 but you should go when it's not so hott outside lol
Beth McNabb
Surprisingly not crowded on this beautiful Fall Saturday in October! Maybe families were getting a beach day in before the snowbirds arrived? The zoo was showing her Fall colors and Halloween flavors. It was a great day to spend time with family!
Martin Denham
Been before,interesting animals and park.
Could have done with more outlets open when we went, but overall a pleasant experience.
Granddaughter loved it!
Richi Velez
It's a nice time. Not the best Zoo but they're expanding. Xmas event is ok. Not much else to see. Great for little kids.
Pooja Apte
ZooTampa is a great place for all ages!! We have pay for a day and come back all year tickets to the zoo. It’s a great deal plus parking is free and plenty.
This little place is so much fun with variety of animals, birds and even rides which includes safari. Wallaroo is a children’s play place with roller coaster, train ride, slides and splash pads. They do have good restaurant with options of pizza, fries etc.
They have a big carousel at the center of the zoo. You get good views from this place and also an awesome ice cream in the nearby shop. There is a fun water ride too.
We again visited the place today and they are already working on Creatures of the Night event for Halloween.
Definitely recommend this place to everyone!!
Nicole del Ponte
Very nice zoo! Wide variety of animals and the workers were very nice! The food there was delicious and I had so much fun feeding the lorikeets! Some sections were closed due to renovations but I still definitely recommend!
Becca Bock
We visited on New Year's Eve and had a blast. The kids loved the dance party even in the rain. The new years hats were a special touch to celebrate. We arrived around 10:30 and went straight to the jeep safari ride and didn't have to wait long. We also have a family membership and decided to pay for an encounter this trip and although the penguins were booked, We decided on the rhino feeding and had a ton of fun. My kids are 7 and 5 and even as adults we love this zoo.
T B
We visited the Tampa zoo with our son's class. It was well organized and we had a great time. We had time to see everything. They had a nice clean area for the children to eat their lunch and also a great place to have lunch for the adults. They even offer gluten-free options that were okay. I didn't get sick so that's always the best! All of the employees there were very nice and helpful.
LaShonda Nash
One of the best zoo's we have visited so far 😁 .. We were truly impressed 😍😍
Roger St Laurent
We've been here every year for the past 3 years. So much fun for the kids. Please see the attached pics.
Ruth Searchfield
The property is well maintained and clean. Plenty of animals to see. Loved watching the elephants and giraffes. Nice areas for children. Plenty of places to buy food.
Jason Walton
ZooTampa is a great adventure for the family. Short of having “adult-roller coasters” like Busch Gardens, it definitely rises to the competition—especially considering the price and the experiences offered.
The park is clean, staff is welcoming and helpful, and there’s many things to do from “little roller coasters”, water splash pads/areas, as well as a beer/wine garden adjacent to a wide-open cafe.
Jonathan and Candy at the Florida Grill make an incredible shrimp tacos basket and many small craft beer offerings.
As far as the animals there are many up close and interactive experiences.
This is a great day-experience for everyone in the family with gift shops through the park—Cheyenne was especially helpful when one shop was locked up and helped open it to grab a specific gift!
Serge FS
The zoo is interesting, but now part of the exposition is closed. Poor navigation, since in the center of the carousel and the food court and it is not clear how to get from there, for example, to the African exposition - they were looking for an entrance for a long time. It is also not clear why the zoo is open only until 5 pm, and some attractions are safari, up to 3 pm, in general, it is interesting, especially the manatees were delighted.
manny boykins
Christmas in the wild was definitely a blast. Will return back during the year to see the other events that they host.
Monty_Renee Pearison
Great place for toddlers and kids of all ages. Make sure to pack sunscreen and hats. The Wallaroo Family Rest Area is a great area for toddlers and young kids.
Michelle Doyer
It's a fun small Zoo. Needs some more updating. Would be a lot of fun with young ones! I enjoyed myself and got a membership!
Karen Gonzalez
Nice zoo, very family oriented. Lot's of fun for kids and adults. Great variety of animals. Whwel chair and special car accessibility.
Vil Ramirez
Great zoo. Came to the zoo while on vacation. It’s a smaller zoo then I’m used too but it was nice. Some areas were closed due to construction but otherwise it’s pretty nice. The primate are really close. The exhibits are well placed for all to view. I recommend getting there early as the heat was bad after 1130 am.
Tim Ross
Love this Zoo, but everything inside is really expensive. Eat before you go!!
The zoo itself is broken up into 4 sections with everything from giraffes to manatees.
Ansley Powell
Best Zoo I have ever been to! Staff very friendly & knowledgeable. Animals all seem very content. Only had allotted two hours and wished we had longer. As an unexpected bonus, zoo also had a few rides and safari.
Mario Palomeras
Is amazing and really clean fully recommended family plan
.. I didn't gave 5 Stars because parking is a F disaster
Kellyanne Koemp
This place was amazing! We took the behind the scenes Manatee tour! Loved it!! So interesting!
melanie griffith
I was absolutely thrilled to visit Zoo Tampa again after 33 years! My husband and I even had a few conversations with some amazing people who care for these amazing animals. The Manatee Rehab Program is awesome!!!
Brad Simmons
Absolutely love this place. Have the pay for a day, come all year pass and love it. I'm an animal lover so this is heaven for me. Took my nephew and brother over the summer and they loved it too. Very handicap accessible everywhere except the front gift shop, little difficult to get through there.
Steven Lowe
Staff members were friendly. Park was clean. Animals were healthy looking and fun to see.
Joe C
Fun zoo the whole family enjoyed! The manatee section/ aquarium was awesome!
Stephanie Michelle Chlebowski
Fun little zoo. Packed full of animals, interactive and informational. Water parks for the little ones to splash around in. Several rides for the kiddos as well. Parking is freeeee, I guess this excited me😂 not too busy on a weekend and it was affordable.
Wolfram Don - Mary
Lots of fun little holiday activities have been added. Took the safari ride for the first time and found it quite enjoyable.
Dakota Campbell
Great zoo, me and my wife had a blast. Lots of attractions and wide varieties of animals. Would recommend to anyone
The manatees were awesome!
Mario Valdez
This zoo was remarkable. It is a small zoo but it is very charming. The admittance fee is comparable. It is well marked and has interests for all ages. The animals appear to be well fed and taken care of. The zoo grounds are well maintained. There is free parking and there is wheelchair accessibility. The afternoon was delightful and this was a great experience. Very educational.
Deborah Schnitzler
Great place to take the kids. Make sure you bring a change of clothes so they get wet in fountains.
Pamela Lowrey
Great experience absolutely recommend visiting especially during fall the weather is great and the animals seem more active than when it's summer and too hot.
Diane Johnstone
Beautiful Christmas lights in the evening
Easy to walk around and see everything
Lots of places to eat and drink. Was great!
Khaled Khirfan
Cute zoo. Not as big as other big city ones, but has plenty to offer. You can experince most if it in under 3 hours. They even have mini rides and coasters so young kids can ride. Parking is free which is a big bonus, entrance fee felt a bit steep but we had thr tampa pass so it was not an issue for us.
James Eustace
Great experience! This was our first visit and we decided to buy an annual pass. Beautiful exhibits, lots of shade, and friendly helpful staff.
Irma Riordan
My husband and I too our girls for the first time a few weeks ago. We have a 4yo and 2yo girls we also have 4month old boy. Our girls loved it. Definitely bring bathing suits or extra pair of clothes. The girls enjoyed the splash play area and the playground as well as the kiddie roller coaster which has height required to ride alone or need an adult to be accompanied. I loved how much animals you get to see up close. Honestly better than the Animal Kingdom when it comes to animal interactions.
C S
Had a wonderful experience here. The animals genuinely looked happy and healthy and had big enclosures. The safari rover tour is a must-do, but there was plenty of other things to do and see including very reasonably priced up-close animal experiences. The fresh lemonade made in front of you was delicious and seeing the bees around it made the experience more fun. As a late 20’s couple with no kids, it was a great date.
Tamara&Ken Gary
First time. Laid out very well. Lots of variety of food. Lots of activities for kids. Will go again
Chris Edwards
This zoo is a pretty decent size. Lots to see and do. Animals looks to be well taken care of. Lots to learn and plenty of demonstrations, feedings, and other things to enjoy. Prices on drinks and food were a little steep. $8 dollars for a bottle of water? Photos were taken at the front entrance by zoo photographers, in front of a green screen which was a super neat idea, but the price to purchase these photos was a little excessive. Overall a great experience though.
Ricka H.
My family went to the Halloween event which was after hours, my children loved the pirate magician and haunted house. As the evening went on it did feel more festive, but the walk ways were pretty much dark. I would recommend getting to the zoo as early as possible for special events as well as a normal visit as it does get crowded and waiting to get in can be tedious with little ones.
John Monteiro
Great Zoo. Lots to do and see. The safari ride is really fun. The staff is extremely friendly and informative. I especially loved seeing the Rhinos and Giraffe. They have a Halloween event going one right now during the weekends. It's call creatures of the night. It's family friendly and gets busy later.
Diana Ramirez
The Zoo has this offer when you pay for one day to ask for the rest of the year for free - it's worth it that way.
Julian Manzo
ZooTampa was a great experience. They had a wide variety of animals out and they were pretty active. Monkeys swinging, elephants playing in the water, and manatees swimming to name a few. Water splash pad area for the kids was nice. Definitely put them in a swim suit, so they can enjoy. We received 50% off admission due to being a member at our home zoo, which was nice. A nice added touch, that our home zoo doesn’t have, fans everywhere!
Sophia's View
This zoo was so amazing! I love that it's broken down into different areas and I love the fact they have a mino aquarium. That was a nice surprise and a great way to cool down some. What was even more interesting is the mini amusement park inside of the zoo!! A great break in-between seeing the animals. An all day event
pamela Heinz
Great little zoo.. they do good work there caring for the animals. We took the safari ride after waiting in line for an hour. It was informative but not great viewing of the animals. The better view was from the walking path. I bought a membership... good through 2023. I get in along with one guest. 10% off select merchandise and food. Also get in free to the events...i.e. Creatures of the Night, their Christmas lights event, etc. Great deal!
Beverly boggess
Very disappointed in the creatures of the night event. Brought my four-year-old special needs grandson, my own fault for not considering the fact that the animals would not be out at night and that's really what I brought him to see. They had little shows going on throughout the park but they really were not geared towards children his age or with his needs. They had multiple bars set up throughout the park and it just had a feel of a parent's Friday night out getting drunk while their kids roamed freely within the zoo. Just didn't feel like the right environment. The food was unbelievably overpriced. I ordered the pizza pockets that were shaped like skulls for the Halloween theme. They looked really cool and tasted okay. One order comes with two skulls, also ordered one child's mac and cheese, one french fry, a small bag of chips, two small sodas and a chocolate milk. It was $60 absolutely insane. Later in the evening we had two Dippin Dots which are served in a little cup about the size of half of a solo cup and it was $20. So overall spent about $200 between tickets, food and a Halloween necklace and my grandson was able to see a couple of giraffes, some bats a turtle and ride the carousel twice.
Thomas Briggs
Fantastic zoo! Animals seemed very energetic and well taken care of. Friendly staff and lots to see and do!!!
Darrell S
Lots of animals, lots of rare ones too! Little pricey, but a good half day activity. Bring proof of military service for a nice discount.
Bruce Benar
I loved the zoo, it has so many animals and birds. The zoo is quite big and it gets tiring when you see everything. You can also use a toy train to see it. We prefer to walk. I didn't like that.
We had a slice of pizza and fries. I didn't like either. The fries smelled funny and I'm guessing cheap oil was used to fry them. We went to a light show at night so we went early at noon to see all the animals and then watched the Christmas light show at night. There was a lot to eat
The venues and zoo were very busy at night. There were also meet and greets with Santa Claus and various click props for a photo with the family... Overall a nice experience except for the food.
K B
I absolutely loved this zoo. The views for the animals are great. Most of the animals are active walking, swinging. We went with our toddler and newborn, spent about 2.5 hours here. It's definitely a place for toddlers, there's a lot for them to do. I recommend it, it's better than the Miami Zoo.
Nathan Taylor
Beautifully landscaped, bird show was great! Posting this photo on the off-chance the employee in the shot sees it and can use the image
GoalGetter 77
Zoo Tampa (which I know as Lowry Park Zoo, lol) was great! It was the first time I took my twin girls and we loved it! The weather was perfect and everything went well. We bought the Pay for a Day passes so we can go back for free anytime throughout the year (other than the few blackout days- which are very few). We look forward to returning! There was a lot we still have yet to see! A lot of walking, but great for family fun. I noticed that most (if that all) areas were wheelchair friendly, which is great! And I definitely appreciated the many benches along the way to sit and take a break for a few minutes along our journey.
Jason Dillard
This place was the best zoo I have been to. Me my son and wife had a great time. Very family oriented and also very well put together and placed.
Nicholas Christy
Wonderful zoo with great exhibits and beautiful animals. The Orangs had a new addition to the troop that was absolutely adorable. We love going to Lowry Park Zoo.
Genevieve K
The new Florida exhibits are nice a very informative. It's always fun to stroll around the zoo and spend time watching the animals' behavior.
Allyssia Brandon
We have been coming to ZooTampa for years. This zoo is such a great experience for the whole family. All year long they have great attractions. You can't go wrong spending the day here. The animal enclosures are well maintained. You can learn so much about the animals and how you can help protect them. The staff is great as well. You really won't regret going to visit.
Ammiee Gerrity
Have been going to Lowery Park Zoo for over 30 years. It is exciting to see it's growth! Perfect place to spend a day with the family!
Florence Schmitt
My children absolutely love this fantastic zoo. They have a wonderful area for the little kids with a beautiful carousel, a petting zoo and water splash zone. The animals are happy and have big enclosures, I've always been sceptical of zoos but this one really changed my mind. The monkeys are my favourite, if you're lucky you might see the baby orangutans, they are so sweet. There's a lot of walking so wear comfortable shoes. Avoid holidays to miss the crowds, there will be longer queues for rides and to buy tickets. Membership is recommended if you live in the area.
Ani
We got the annual membership and love bringing our litter boy to see the animals. It’s always clean and well maintained. I think it would be much improved if the food area had better AC circulation it was so hot and it desperately needs areas were people can cool off.
Tiffany Comitalo
Beautiful Zoo! Well maintained, lots of animals and friendly staff!
TLG
I enjoyed my first visit to Zoo Tampa. I went primarily to take pictures. I arrived right at opening so there was minimal crowds. There are a few attractions closed for renovations but overall there is plenty to see. I recommend a visit!
Jonathan Herbin
Nice size Zoo. Not too crowded on a Friday. The exhibits were a nice size in which you are able to see the animals close up. Other zoos that I've been to are sometimes so large the animals seem to be hiding way in the back. Zoo Tampa doesn't have that problem. They serve alcohol at food stands. The pictures at the picture booth were amazing! I won't spoil it but, you must check out your pictures that are taken of you when you first walk in the gates!
Rachel Williams
Great Zoo, overall! However wish all of the exhibits were open then it would have been perfect! What they advertise is not exactly what's available. Tons to see, perfect family outing though.
Amanda Munguia-Byrd
I absolutely LOVE this zoo! It's my happy place, truly. The birds, bats, and petting zoo are my favorites, though the petting zoo and lorikeet feeding experience are currently closed <sad face>. At least I'll be a member when they return.
Brad Jones
Wow, its been a while since I have been to a destination and been impressed with all aspects. First, the food was excellent. Clean areas. Amazing kid entertainment. Great value for the money. Lots to explore. Cant wait to go back and see more animals and enjoy kid friendly attractions.
Carol Alford
First time to Tampa Zoo, solo trip. I had so much fun. I loved it. Took lots of pictures.
Karen Freihage
From the beginning everyone we encountered was very friendly and helpful. The animals were lively and active. The food was good and reasonably priced. The grounds and restrooms were very clean and well maintained.
Inclusion Revolution
As much as I love this zoo I only have one problem with it, I attended one of the Zoo-Boo nights, I was really looking forward to it I absolutely love Halloween but I underestimated how busy it would be (my fault) , I wear sound reduction headphones and I was overwhelmed so I took a moment and sat down in my sister's wheelchair, we were going through one part of the "Spooky attractions" and one of the scare actors decided to get as close as humanly possible to me and attempt to scare me, I didn't understand why out of my whole group she decided to scare me after all I was apart of a large group, my only thought is what if this had been a smaller kid? I can control my noise intake and I understand what the scare actors are doing but someone smaller it might cause them to have a meltdown. But! This wasn't everyone that night I also had the pleasure of meeting the "spider Queen" was completely understanding with my headphones she was even kind enough to take a picture with me
bohoparis
Love the animals here, great for all ages. This is a must to visit in your are a Floridian!! The size of the park is nice and big and they have many different variety of stuff you can do here. My experiences here are great. I would come again. Super fun and enjoyable time here :)
Rachel
The zoo is an awesome Tampa experience, fun for all ages. It's a great attraction for young kids with a carousel and whole area dedicated to kids with a splash pad, playground, and rides.
The manatee cave is a must visit. It's dark and cool and offers an underwater view of the manatees. You can watch them eat and swim. Kids love it and it's a nice place to sit down and take a break from the heat.
The new Florida Wilds offers great views of the Florida panther, wolves, and bears. We've been able to see the bears and wolves quite active in their enclosures.
The zoo has started offering some pretty good food options. The kids area has a Wendy's truck that sells ice cream and I've seen street corn stands for sale. There is also a hot dog booth with specialty hot dogs.
The Africa area has a nice safari ride that takes you behind the scenes of a bunch of different animals.
They seem to have such great staff and really passionate animal keepers who are always happy to talk about the animals and share their knowledge.
Brandon Mathews
It was amazing we did the elephant encounter where we were able to take private photos and behind the scenes of the elephant enclosure also watch them do tricks and things that help out the trainers overall great experience we will be doing it again
Justin Marx
We love zoo Tampa! Great family fun. We have a membership and love coming for quick trips with our kids. It’s like Disney for animals. Great staff, great at holidays. Definitely worth the money for a membership or just a day trip if from out of town. Plenty of shade in the hot months, and AC in the underwater manatees area.
Susan Allen
My family and I had a wonderful day at the zoo. I was impressed how thematic and cohesive the park was. There was quick info everywhere and lots for my little granddaughters to see and do.
dingkos
Great place , we have membership which is the best deal
We love taking our out of town guests!!
But zoo brew, we were disappointed this year only got 2 drinks because lines were terribly long, not enough trash bins ,I threw away other people's garbage laying on fence posts. The best was ZOO TOPIA with Big bad voodoo music group
Sonia Ramirez Lujan
I really enjoy the zoo. You can notice they really take care of all the animals. I took the manatee and elephant tours and they were really fun!
WillowWho Flowers
Was there on vacation. Im from Bklyn. N.Y. im here on vacation. My nephew's school had s little Christmas Show which turned out to be really lovely. The Zoo looks amazing with all
The lights.
Rosa Cruz
Lovely zoo... we had a nice family day!
maureen torres
Zoo was beautifully decorated, went there for a finance presentation with Mosaic Fin. Group. These young gentlemen are very knowledgeable, personable and there's no pressure to buy. We enjoyed appetizers and cocktails outdoors before the presentation and a nice dinner inside during their informative session. Very glad we found our financial team! I highly recommend them.
Nareshkumar Acharya
This zoo is definitely one of the good place to spend time with kids. It is beautiful and well maintained. There are a lot of animals n birds to watch and experience. The surrounding is so beautifully maintained and feel of nature retained with a lot of trees, gardening, flowers, ponds, etc. Definitely a good attraction for kids and to some extent adults. There are various region or exhibits. There is carousel, roller-coaster, train ride, banana fly ride, splash pad and children's play area too. There are also options available for food, soft drinks, ice cream, etc. Especially would recommend to go with the special offer such as buy for day and visit throughout the year that is currently going on
Asjla Moss
Love love love ZooTampa! Since moving to FL we’ve bought an annual membership, and it’s been so worth it. I love that we can take a guest for free each visit (we’ve utilized that several times with family members visiting). Lots of animals to see and get up close to. I really enjoy the fact all the rides for the kids are included for the entrance price. (It’s nice to be able to allow my kids to go on them without shelling out more money). The wooden playground is also fun for the kids as well as the splash pad. The big water ride is a fun way for the whole family to cool off too. One of our favorite activities is touching the sting rays and walking through the aquarium and manatee area. Overall just a super fun place for the family. There’s something for everyone, no matter the age. Also their various events (recently dinosaurs alive and “Christmas in the wild”) are such cool things to attend as well!
Trapped On Vacation
This isn't the greatest zoo I have been to but it isn't the worst. In general the zoo needs to focus on minor projects to better present a more maintained public image, I think by reducing accessible guest areas and relocating animals to a more compact area of the park will create a better flow for guest spending and general upkeep and maintenance.
The areas of the zoo require the most improvement are in the Australian area, Florida boardwalk and Indoor manatee viewing area. Some fresh paint, updated lighting and sound system would make the area brand new.
The directors of the zoo need to focus on general refurbishment of the existing facilities, additional gardening landscaping a place making project if you will. A few more attractions wouldn't hurt either.
Elizabeth Earley- Frost
Attended Christmas in the Wild. It had really pretty lights and a small dance show in the kids splash pad area but they don't have anything "extra" from their normal daytime zoo experience. Got some pictures with so very pretty characters on stilts but that's about it. Honestly it depends on what you're into and how much you're willing to spend.
Laura Duplain
ZooTampa is a gem. We are season ticket holders. I love the reasonable ticket pricing in comparison to many nearby theme parks. Halloween and Christmas have been our favorite annual visits. The zoo is always updating their exhibits and habitat areas.
Angel Bussert
Decided to visit the zoo I went to as a kid all the time and it has really turned into a stunning place to visit. Beautifully kept animals with tons of enrichment and wonderfully decorated enclosures to mimic native environment. So glad I got to see what my childhood happy place has become.
Casey G
Had a great time. My child enjoyed it alot. It was warm but they had a good amount of shade. They need shade in a few more spots like at the ordering window at the Starbucks beverage shop and few other places but their fans helped cool us off along with the water ride and splash areas.
Jonathan Fudge
Having not been to the zoo in a long time, it was amazing to see how well cared for it was. This zoo has so many places to see and seems to be huge.
I absolutely loved getting to walk around with my 2 year old daughter and seeing all the animals.
The staff we interacted with were great and highly recommend checking it out if you are considering it.
Martin A. Alvarado
Undoubtedly the best zoo I have ever visited! They are not crowded at all. They have a great selection of animals like elephants, giraffes, crocodiles, and orangutans to name some. They have a child rollercoaster, train ride, and water ride. Multiple interacting activities with animals are present. It was so clean and spacious. Would definitely return again.
David McGaha
Of course the rain came in but that didn't stop us from having a wonderful visit. Saw all of the animals except the Elephants. We figured they may have been put up because the lightning and thunder coming in. But we really did enjoy our visit. The rained helped to cool us all down.
Chris Foster
Great place. Lots of species in easy to walk area. The short truck ride is fun and educational
Steve Farb
ZooTampa at Lowry Park is the perfect size for a full day of viewing the different exhibits and enjoying the park. Many of the visitors are families with young kids and there is a kid themed mini amusement park as one of the lands/regions inside the park. Bring bathing suits and water shoes for the kids to enjoy the water features. There's one very short water ride for teens and adults that actually is just the up and drop for a very big splash. The zoo is well kept and the animals well cared for. Five Stars.
Gia
Great variety of animals, great service, park clean, amazing kid section. My son loved it! We will be back!
K W
Great day today. Parking was easy. Purchased tickets online. If you have kids pack the bathing suits. There is a large splash play area with sprinklers and large dump bucket. There is seating available around the splash pad to observe the little ones. Grabbing a bite to eat is located nearby as well. Decent playground for kids from 5-12yrs old plus a smaller one for the younger ones.
Anna Molenaar
Great fun for the little ones and the adults that take them. The kids enjoyed the animals and the rides. We took advantage of the season pass discounts on food, but recommend that you take water and don't forget the snacks.
Cathy Anyon
Wonderfully relaxed experience. I've been coming here for 40 plus years. Weather was beautiful today not too hot.
Lissie Morales
Lowry Park Zoo never disappoints, we had such a great time with our family. We were there to celebrate our boy Gabe's birthday. The cupcakes purchased there were not very good. I also don't know what happened to a kiosk that had a super long line and we weren't told that it was because a register was down. Everything else was great we had a great time and were able to snag some lunch next to the koala's.
Eudrecka Durham
I have been to many zoos. However, I would have to say that this one was one of my favorite. It has plenty to do. It's clean, and the exhibits are excellent. They also have some animals that I have not seen at other zoos. Make sure you prepare for lots of fun. If you are bringing children, make sure they gave a change of clothes because there are water activities. You can also bring food in. The food is costly, so bringing drinks and snacks in will save you a few bucks. (no lids it straws allowed in) It will be HOT! Remember sunscreen, bug repellent, water, snacks, and a change of clothes!
Mich Phy
Nice variety of animals but not that big, which is a plus for me. You can easily get through it all within 4-hours which is enough time out in the hot sun. Great family adventure.
Ana Isabel Aguirre
it is simply fantastic to recreate the animal world and enjoy a fun day with our children
Andi Sinclair
Was sad at the about the amount flamingos and that they didn't have lions. The stingrays had died the day before we went. On a plus side the manatees were awesome and the monkeys. The landscapes were nice and enjoyed all the little waterfall features. Kristen the animal trainer was very informative and patient.
Paul Huber
Went for Christmas in the Wild… the decorations were nice but we saw maybe 5-6 animals at best. I get it’s at night but there was no indication on the event that all the animals would be put away for the evening (we got there at 6pm). Good event for kids as they had activities and sing-alongs, but not great for couples without kids.
CyberKeith
Really enjoyed my visit. I liked that they had many animals from Asia that I was completely unaware of. They also had all the regular Africa (🦏 🦒 🐘) and Florida (🐊 ) animals too. The animals looked like they were well cared for. Lots to see and surprisingly the food was even good. …
Adrienne Jordison
My 2.5 & 1yr olds loved it! Bought season passes right away and went twice in our first week. Lots to do and see! The kid area is fantastic with some free rides, play structures & a spray pad to cool off. We’ll be back lots this year!
The only thing I’ve found to complain about is the main washrooms in the kid area don’t have hands free doors which makes it extremely hard to bring a stroller in. The indoor attractions have them which makes it a breeze for strollers, wheelchairs, and carts though.
William Andrew Sheppard
The new Florida area is a nice addition to an already great local zoo. We have annual passes and go a few times a year.
Indu Vishnu
I’ve visited N number of zoos and this one is particularly awesome!!! Park is so well maintained, felt so welcoming by all staff, animals are so freaking awesome!!! Overall I would give 5 star! Kids would definitely love it! Plan for a whole day trip, I’m sure you won’t disappoint a visit!! Orugutan’s were our favorite of all!!
heather kirkpatrick
Always a great time at the zoo. We're pass holders which makes all events feasible for a large family and the kids are always exhausted when we leave. It's nice to leave the kids at home too, they serve alcohol during most events.
Shannon Vanderpool
Nice clean facilities, animals were active. Make sure to do the wildlife connection
Bill Richard
It makes for a great day visit and there are plenty of things for kids including rides and a splash area. Lots of animals and easy to spot. We had lunch at the restaurant near the entrance and had really good burgers. Was not expecting much after having burgers at SeaWorld and Busch gardens. These were grilled not steamed and had a bunch of topping choices and cheese options.
Florida Life Family Adventure
Great price for the family all year long.
A little taken back about some stuff not being open when we went . You would think June its all open but that was not the case. Hope they get it all back up and open soon. Other wise a family price pass is a wast of money.
Had a good time over all. We will be back.
Amanda Varga
First time at the Tampa Zoo. I thought it was awesome that the rides were free with the Zoo purchase! Some of the exhibits were closed which did suck. Enjoyed the fans around the park. The down fall was it started to rain, so we ran into a food court building in the front and with the rain the ceiling was leaking water inside of the building.
Trianah Jackson
I really like this zoo! Lots of food and things to do. I only with they had a few more animals (lacking in big cats). But the way they have it split into different areas really helped make it more magical for my daughter. It was pretty clean and we went during music in the wild so there was lots of music playing! Also we missed roaring waters because it closed down before we got to it (3pm) so I wish we could’ve done that too. My daughter had fun in the little kids area riding the rides. All in all we will be back!

We are pass holders and we love going there. The safari is great. So many animals. Love feeding the birds and getting face painted. The refillable drinks are great and love the kids area. Rides, playground and splashpad

Great time at the zoo with extended family. A little crowded for Halloween but fun nonetheless!
Brian McHenry
Part of this rating was our bad timing. Arrived mid day (temp was mid 80's, felt like 90) when most animals were sleeping. Lots of things were closed (rides and exhibits). Food service options were very limited (unless you wanted sweets). Most of the presentations are scheduled for the evening (because they are Halloween themed). Get there early (or late afternoon)! Bring a hat, fan, water!! They need misters and more water fountains. Kids have a splash pad.
Evelyn Wallace
Overall it was a great place to visit even tho some of the animals were not out. As many touristy places prices on merchandise are high to be expected. Wear comfortable shoes since it is a long walk and tho we visited during a weekday, it was very crowded. I would definitely visit again tho some staff members @the shops could benefit from some training to improve their attitude.. i was shocked to see alcohol is sold here considering it is advertised as a family friendly place.
Side note: if you visit please deposit the trash in the designated receptacles, we observed a lot of people leaving cans and beer bottles all ver the various exhibits 😡 come on people!! animals safety depends on it.
Shawn Dear
This zoo is remarkable. I live on the east coast of Florida and have an annual pass to brevard zoo. This allowed us to get a discount on tickets when we were visiting family in the area.
My 16 month old daughter loved the manatees and all the animals. I also loved the fact that it was very easy to see all the animals in the display. The facilities were nice and clean, staff was friendly.
I will gladly drive 3 hours to visit this zoo another time.
Ana Marquez
Very clean facilities. We'll.....bathrooms need s more attention Specially for the holiday events. But in general we loved it. Animals are very well care. First time going there and we can't wait to come back. Food is ok. Variety of animal encounters and activities.
Rebecca Stephens
What can I say... This is the best zoo I have ever been too. Such a diverse group of beautiful, healthy animals. Friendly and relaxed staff. Relaxed atmosphere. It clear that the animals are so happy and very well taken care of. My favorite place in Florida!
Travis Landgrave
Went for the CF walk so entry was free very nice park but alot of animals were not available that day. Still all in all a good day and a good park to visit.

LOVE this ZOO! They have a whole section of the zoo dedicated to small children. My 4 year old rides the small roller coaster and plays in the play ground. There's a water / splash pad. Big fun for small kids.
Kristi Garcia
Took my son for his first ever zoo visit and he had so much fun! The petting zoo has changed to where you can’t enter the enclosure to pet the small farm animals but the goats will come up to you for scratches.
Stingray exhibit is closed for now. Aviary is also closed due to avian flu.
Even with all the closures we had fun and paid extra to be able to come back as much as we want for the rest of the year. Highly recommend for families.
Brooke Star
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Lowry Park Zoo. I haven't been to a zoo in a long time so it was fun to walk around and see the animals. I was disappointed that there currently isn't a giraffe feeding encounter because they apparently traded female giraffes for a baby. Also there are a lot of vultures hanging around the flamingo area which is a lite creepy. Most of the animals were active and fun to watch. I bought the ticket that allows me to come back for the rest of the year so I look forward to coming back.
Ghost Arias
Overall it was a good experience, it has things to do, the animal captivities are in good condition. However, I visited the park twice in one week, first day was a Saturday and it was an awful experience for my daughter, we got there after a storm around noon, so everything was closed, no rides were open. so we decided to wait it out. they advice us to seek shelter, we enter a restaurant and there was no one working the cashier, so we could not buy drinks or food. After two hours, still nothing open, we gave up and left. The second day we got there and had a better experience with rides and attractions, unfortunately, after a couple of hours started to rain again and they closed it down. Knowing that nothing was going to re open we left.
Sabrina Kerr
A lot to see! And they do meetups with the animals at designated times where the staff interact with the animals while they inform you about them too. The safari ride was really awesome you get to see some endangered animals that you can't see within the zoo because they keep them in their open habitat to thrive. Definitely would go back! It took us about 4-5 hours for our visit and we saw everything it had to offer and even got to feed Lorikeets. Their splash pad for little ones was very nice. Highly recommend they wear a bathing suit they will get soaked.
Rosemary Jones
Wonderful experience. Make-up destination for limited animals at Clearwater Aquarium. Tampa zoo caters to customer's needs : fans in seating areas, refreshments always near including frozen daiquiris & beer, splash pad for kids. They have a wonderful variety of animals from Africa, Asia, Australia, Florida
Meaghan Burnett
Other than the Atlanta zoo this is one of my favorites. Great animals, interaction and learning opptunities. The animals are well taken care of, have a lot of enrichment items to help keep their mind and body engaged. Overall great zoo.
Kristopher Gates
ZooTampa isn't perfect but as far as I'm aware it's Tampa's best option and it is lovely. Have been many times and some exhibits are excellent (primates are a star). Expect some high prices and kid oriented presentation, but nothing surprising.
They do a good job and take great care of their animals, who 'speak for themselves' in promoting the wonders of nature and importance in conservation.
Leland Lucia
I liked the zoo a lot. It's well maintained for both humans and other animals. We had grandkids running around and overall I think they liked it. I didn't see any type of informational show although there was an area that was closed off that looked like they might have one so not sure. Bring your own food if you intend to be there at lunch or dinner as quality of their food stops was not very good and pricey. The one downside was waiting in line for the Safari style truck ride. They didn't seem well organized and it took a while. Ticket for adults was $46 and kids are $36 each. If you have AARP you can get a discount but we found out you have to order the tickets online. I was a little disappointed there was no petting zoo like at the Central Florida zoo. The parking area was pretty full but we didn't have a problem finding a space.
S. Chang
This zoo is definitely one of the better ones I've visited, the animals look well cared for and the Manatee exhibit is particularly exciting, this zoo is definitely a good experience. However I will say that the food is pretty expensive and so is the merchandise. Parking is plentiful but the zoo is very popular so it fills up quickly.
Keenan W
Absolutely love ZooTampa. I've had a membership pass for a long time now, and it's always nice to just be able to walk in anytime I want. The park is well kept and well staffed, and they're not shy about interacting with visitors. They're pretty good about knowing the answers to questions about their animals and areas, like the stories of what brought them to the park.
Kellie Barnett
Loved this day. Everyone had a great time. 2 year old loves the animals, 4 year old loved the rides (which are included), and I loved that we only had to pay once and can go back for free. Spent the whole day there and detoured to Portillos for dinner! Great day out.
Scott Remy
Nice zoo. Lots of parking. Even with the limited admissions it was crowded in some areas. So people were rude. We enjoyed our time there. Some of the restaurants were closed. A lot of the animals were inside due to the heat.
Autumn V
Went while on vacation today as part of the Tampa City Pass. The zoo itself is beautiful and one of the biggest we have been too. Sadly there were quite a very animals not on exhibit for one reason or the other. The smell by the monkeys was almost unbearable. But the staff with the manatees were so great and informative. We would probably visit again if in the area.
Jorge Pellicier
The staff was very helpful and friendly. There was lots things for todo.
Teri Heath
Wonderful zoo. Lovely habitats for all the animal.
Unnecessarily Necessary
I like going to these theme park type places but feel as though they should stop gouging and get back to the people
Peter Simmons
Lots of free stuff for the little kids, plus amazing pay to pet animal exhibitions
Kirk Poulin
Great place to bring the family for a day of fun at a decent price
Dan Collins
Nice well laid out zoo. Many active animals.
Nice amount of shade for us non Floridians.
Andrea Bohn
This is the most fun I've had at a zoo, ever. While it has a small zoo vibe, it is to its benefit. There are plenty of amazing animals to see (rhinos, tigers, manatees, sloths, to name a few) and it isn't overcrowded.
Additionally, they weren't trying to squeeze every drop of money out of you that they could. There was a whole kid section with a carousel, baby rides, and a splash pad. None of it cost extra and it was a ton of fun for the kids.
Cleanliness and Covid-wise, masks are not required in outdoor areas and people are asked to maintain social distancing (which is awesome because I don't want people invading my personal space anyway). Indoor areas such as the manatee tunnel, restaurants and restrooms they ask that you wear your mask and all of the staff wear masks. The staff also regularly clean surfaces that the guests use (such as wiping down the animals after each ride on the carousel).
If I lived in the area I would come back to this zoo all the time. And I highly recommend it to anyone who has children and are looking for something fun and worth the cost.
Dennis Bankov
Nice zoo, definitely worth checking out
Tyler Cabanaw
Great exhibits and features. Great for all ages

Awesome time! Great place for family fun time
Oli Luna
Pretty good zoo, the staff was super intelligent and knew their animals well. The backstage / behind the scenes tours that we did were unfortunately kind of underwhelming. While they were incredibly educational and gave us a closer look at the animals, it wasn’t nearly as exciting or as up close as it seems based off of the front entrance descriptions. We did the manatee hospital and the elephant tours. The manatee hospital was adorable but it was fairly hard to see the babies most of the time. I understand that distance and safety are both required but there should be a better way to view them since they are the central part of the tour. The elephant tour was mostly just a “stand here, get a photo taken, watch the elephant train while we tell you facts, questions, leave” sorta deal. It was very quick and while I immensely enjoyed being near such an amazing animal, I was kind of disappointed at the lack of interaction between us and the elephant. Minus those things, this park is beautiful, clean as can be, and clearly everyone who works there loves the animals as if they were their own. I loved seeing how passionate the tour guides and employees were about the animals and their jobs.
Hawaiianrose
I went on a week day. It was very clean. All of the rides were down except for 1. Most of the small eating stands were closed. Thankfully we bought the City Pass or I would have been even more disappointed! Definately not like it was 3 years ago when I visited.
Todd Emerling
Great zoo! Lots of things to see and do!!
Karla Thompson
GREAT ZOO!! Takes a good 2 to 2.5hrs to walk through. Really loved seeing the manatee. We went early in the morning to get there for feeding time it was cool and all the animals were out enjoying it. We all enjoyed the sting Ray touch tank too.
Jim Brown
Great visit. It never gets old to walk around the zoo and see all of the different animals. It is also cool when you see staff and animals that you have seen on the Animal Planet TV show. Great fun for all!!!!
Dre Mccomb
Great zoo and will definitely come back again
Bill Prymicz
Zoo Tampa is an amazing place. The people who work there are very friendly and knowledgeable. You can easily talk to them and they will answer any questions you have. The animals are great to see and they have a good variety of them. I would urge everyone who loves animals to visit Zoo Tampa at Lowry park.
ricky reynolds
I had a wonderful visit at the zoo 2 weeks ago. The staff there are friendly, and they take the time to answer any questions you may have. The grounds were clean and we enjoyed looking at all the animals. I will be back soon.
Ron Rodgers
Great place! Lots of animals, animal exhibits. Feed the giraffes, take a safari ride, let the kids play in the water park, petting zoo area. A little bit of everything to keep the kids, as well as the adults entertained!
Haley Hagle
Of all the zoos I’ve been too (including San Diego), I’ve never been so up close to all the animals before! At each exhibit I could clearly see and learn about each animal. I recommend going in the morning when the animals are the most active. I loved the Florida section with all the manatees, especially at feeding time. Never knew they had “hands” on their faces that helped feed them! Also, it’s very family friendly. Lots of rides, activities and play areas, so I can see why it’s a must-see in Tampa.
Cain Marko
We had a lot of fun, we went for our 3rd year anniversary and it was amazing! As conservationist we love going to good zoos and aquariums, and this zoo was amazing! Not only that but they are AZA accredited! We had so much fun learning and studying and as a surprise I got us 3 different behind the scenes tours and they where all amazing! Normally I would only do 1 tour but ZooTampa tours are very low prices! I mean just to see and pet a penguin was $19.99 a person! Normally it's like $45 or up at other places! So because of that I got us Manatees rescue and African Elephant tours which where amazing! Love it and will be going back again soon!
M Chu
Definitely one of the top zoos we've been to. The water ride in the kids area in the Australia section was closed the day we visited. Tons of things for little kids to do.
The gem though is the manatee rescue area of the zoo. What an amazing up close experience with these gentle giants. Volunteer Ron was very personable and gave my wife and I lots of great insight into the latest manatee challenges.
Arrive early when the animals are active and when parking is more plentiful. Plan to spend 3 hours to enjoy the zoo.
Dan Wortmann
This zoo was a great time and was the best zoo experience we've ever had. There isn't too much walking between animal exhibits and a lot for the kiddos to do along the way - including a kid area with rides and a playground! While some things were limited due to covid, we were still able to spend a good 3.5 hours covering the zoo.
Cherry Holmes
I've visited this zoo 7 times in over 19 yrs. My family and I were very disappointed at our last visit this labor day weekend.
Be prepared to be searched as though your going through a major airport. And your wallet screaming bloody mercy.
Its has become very over priced considering the zoo's declining attractions and dilapidated state.
General appearance needs updating and a fresher look. Its not at the level of Depressing, but not sure how to describe it and still give the park hope.
Bathrooms not regularly checked for cleanliness. 60% of restaurants and concession stands were closed. Bring snacks or lots of money for food. Unfortunetly their unwilling to trade a unwanted family member for water.
Apparently hot dogs contain gold and drinks are your only option to possible dehydration. Just pretend their flying in your drinks to justify the cost.🤑
They have done a decent job considering the under staffing. What staff they do have are pleasant and others just need to be relocated to another job.
It was 78 degrees but many of the animals looked like they were over heating or dehydrated.
The water filtration systems to bears habit was disgusting. 😬
Many of the animals had no stimulating activities within their habits which added to their withdrawn behavior. When they have had enough of human they just hide their heads and you pretty much see animal butt's during your visit, I was impressed.🤔🤦♀️
This is mainly a bird and elephant zoo.
The only smile I saw on my adult family members was the water boat ride where you can stand on a bridge or side viewing area to get soaked.
This a great way to cool off and smell like sewer water soaked with dead fish for your entire visit.🥴👍👍
The age group this best caters to are parents with infants and elementary children.
If your able to afford an additional $80 I'd recommend going to Bush garden's for a entire day experience instead.😏

Halloween month Creatures off the Night was AWESOME. Great for toddlers and little kids. The family fun is super wholesome. The Junkyard hunted house trail was seriously cool and scary. A+
Bortt
A very nice zoo with great annual pass rates - 115/year and it gets you a guest. Lots of great animals and informative crew members. And their Macaw Cafe at the front is actually pretty good for being a food center in the front of a Zoo
Mark H
Had another great time for Halloween for the kids. Creatures of the Night was great. Only draw back was the flume ride was closed again, safari ride closed early. Otherwise a great outing. Food was great as usual
Crystal Smith
Ive always loved the zoo! No big cats (Lions)here. But that's ok. I actually believe animals should be FREE. But rehabilitative and sanctuary services are necessary... donate time & resources to caring for all gods creatures...
Mr. Nieves
Wonderful family experience! Every single time you go, they have something going on making every visit Unique! We LOVE this place! Their "Encounters" are Really awesome! You enjoy while learning!
John Pilz
This is a place to see animals from around the world, see animals unique to Florida, and enjoy family-friendly rides and attractions.
Lawrence Jennings
Very nice zoo but prices for food is like a theme park. 30 something bucks for a pizza. 8 dollars I think for a smart water. I guess that is how they get you for giving you a free pass for the year after buying a regular price day pass.
Kamal Patel
The lights were better than expected. They also had characters throughout the zoo and they did an amazing job engaging the children. Would love to come back soon.
Kristi Kelly
I've been going to Zoo Tampa since it was Lowry Park Zoo and this time was just as magical as my previous visits. You are so close to the animals, it feels like you can touch them. I am from Detroit originally and there's an excellent Zoo there. The difference is how intimate Zoo Tampa is. Don't miss the Manatees!
Dantes1844
Perfect place for adults with young children! We have a blast. Plenty to do and it's not too packed. The animals and rides are the best. The prices are great too. Highly recommended!
Joseph Southard
Great time & got to meet a couple rhinos & feed some birds.
Dianne Bennett
We had a great time looking at the animals.
Rachel Morrison
A small, fun zoo that focuses on conservation and rehabilitation. They have several extra activities such as a behind the scenes tour of a manatee rehabilitation facility on site where they treat a hopefully rotating roster of the gentle giants, aiming to release them when healthy. Consult the zoo's website for their list of daily talks, shows and activities, as well as purchasing tickets ahead of time for entry and extra tours. There is a section dedicated to smaller children with a splash pad for fun on hot days, and rides for them as well.
Tina E.A.
Always a fun experience and the animal encounters are a great way to add an everlasting memory.
Jason Hommes
Family love this place all of the animals and staff seem happy and there is plenty to do and interact with
Dan Mathis
Great zoo with a good amount of space for most of the animals and nice to walk around even if it's crowded. Playgrounds for kids, eatery's and they have some rides as well.
Everything Home
I loved it went there for the Halloween event! Got to see some of the animals, would like to see more space for the animals though however the giraffe enclosement was a bit small I thought for such big animals as well as the elephants. But overall what a fun place to go to I loved it.
April Cronin
For a single day ticket I would say it's a bit expensive, but we get the rest of the year free, so it's worth it. The animal encounters are fairly priced, so we'll do one of those each time we go back to get our money's worth. A lot of the really cool animals were sleeping and the water ride was shut down, but overall my kids enjoyed it and it was a good family day out!
Jonathan Kincaid
We had a great time. Our 4 year old found Creatures of the night to be a fun/spooky experience. The orangatangs were particularly active at night. Really great deal for members!
Steven Loaiza
The Zoo was amazing, my kids had lots of fun! I believe it's a bit overpriced but after seeing all the activities for the kids and the events it was worth the visit.
I wish we could see the animals closer, the elephants were pur away for the safari expedition which was a bit unfair for the rest of the visitors and the wait time for the safari was over 70 mins. Other than this is was a nice day for the kids!
Vincent
Great place to take the family. There were quite a few attractions. Buy the annual pass and you can take a guest for free. The annual pass provides for discounts on the amenities as well as other Tampa attractions. We visited the Tampa aquarium the next day for 1/2 off.

5/16/2021
Wonderful time with the family visiting the zoo on a Sunday morning. The park was full early on so there was quite a walk from the parking lot to the park. We purchased our tickets online and had less wait time. There is a bag check at the front so there is a line (as in most entertainment parks) before you go in, but it moved swiftly.
There are a few fans and lots of shaded areas to shield you from the hot Florida sun but there are areas where you'll wish you had brought sunscreen, a hat, and shades for your eyes.
We downloaded the app and it showed us how to trek the park from one side to the other.
Lots of things are not open but maybe now that things are opening back up, we're hoping they open soon. We were disappointed to see the website did not mention attraction closures (if it did we totally missed it).
We were able to make our day ticket into a ticket for the rest of the year (a special they are running). We went to guest services, paid $3 per person and got the extension. It was super easy.
Food- They have lots of little stands to get souvenirs, drinks, popsicles, ice cream, etc. Our only suggestion for them to make better is in the pizza diner (the only sit-inside restaurant they have open at the moment). They had one cashier so we stood in line 20 minutes before we were able to put our order in. The one cashier had to stop constantly between customers to go get cups on the other side of the building, then she'd have to stop again to go get the customer pagers when she'd run out, then she'd go back with what appeared to be a receipt... it was a terrible system of operation considering the size of the building, the fact that she was the only cashier, and the amount of guests in line. Several times another employee came out to get cups and make other runs for her, but never opened the other register to make the line move quicker.
Some of the shows are totally closed and the ones still open have less show times. We found the cost of food to be high ($67 for 4 people) until we saw how much food you get served -none of us were able to finish our plates. A parent could share a plate with a child both get their fill.
Overall great experience ☺️.
Danny Stover
Went for the Christmas lights celebration. Loved it. All of the staff was so friendly! Only complaint was food accessibility. They had several restaurants closed for private parties, and we didn't know until once in the park.
Jennifer Butland
Love taking my son to the zoo!! He always enjoys himself and it’s always kept nice. My only complaint is how loud the music blasts through the entire park. It can’t be good for the animals and it’s so loud in some places it’s hard to hear the people you’re with.
LITINREALLIFE
There had been MASSIVE. changes to the zoo experience. you can no longer pet stingrays or feed them shrimp, the Roaring Springs rollercoaster 🎢 is up, you have to schedule an appointment to feed the giraffes, the safari ride doesnt open until noon on some days and the malaysian tiger is not ever around to be viewed. however if you want to get GREAT exercise, view some animals, and spend time with your kids then its fun.
Chris
Fantastic! Jose at Macaw Landing started our day off right and it was great from there. We did the Elephant tour with Logan and it was amazing! My wife and I had a great time.
Mary Eisenman
We bought season passes and couldn't be happier. No, matter how many times you go...you never know what surprise you'll find next. We've already been at least a dozen times and look forward to our next zoo adventure...from new born baby arangatans, birds in flight, wolves on the prowl, penguins eager to put on a show, to playing in the splash zone...there's something for everyone from 1 to 101.
Amanda F
Absolutely adorable! This zoo is very well-kept and full of fun activities. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful. My family loves it here!
Karina Audige
Great zoo. All animals had amazing habitats. Very well taken care of and clean. So many shows and activities. You could spend the entire day there.
Susan Clement
The staff was friendly and professional. They made us aware of a deal that we overlooked.
The food was good and fairly priced for a theme park. We were able to see all the animals.
Diane Boos
Had a great time seeing all the animals. Masks were semi-required. Open air spaces that you could maintain 6 ft spacing they are not required but in closed air spaces like the manatee tunnel and other areas they are required. Beautiful Christmas are set up and starts around 4pm with extra vendors.
Kateryna Yevstihnieieva
Zoo Tampa is a great place to spend time with children. The zoo is divided into zones. The animals are well-groomed. We were on the Christmas lights and everything was so festive.
On the downside, we were on a weekend and there were very few parking spaces. Although, we didn't have to wait long to park the car.
We will definitely come back here more than once.
Chad Ridge
Amazing zoo! Lots of different kinds of animals and lots to do! Animal encounters sell out fast so book before you arrive (I think 30 days before)
Tracey Keiser
This zoo was just okay. Zero Covid protocols or enforcement in place if that’s something you care about. About 10% of guests were wearing masks and there was a lot of people there on a weekday. Impossible to social distance inside or out. Staff wasn’t interested in helping or answering questions unless you pre-paid at the door for a tour or additional activity. I would recommend saving your visit for a cooler weather day as there is A LOT of walking and not a lot of shade. A 16oz bottle of smart water was $6.99 before tax- be warned, eat & drink before arrival and bring an empty water bottle to fill. A lot of the food places were simply closed. Parking was a big challenge & we ended up having to park rather far away (8-10 min walk)- keep this in mind if you have small children or elderly folks in your party. Stay off the splash platform unless you want to look like you went diving in all of your clothes. We learned the hard way! Bring a stroller, pack snacks & wear comfy shoes. Check out online deals for admission before paying full price at the gate.
Angel Jeter
Zoo Tampa is nice. The layout is a little tricky but they offer complimentary maps. There were a good amount of babies born in the past year. It does get hot and misting fans would be appreciated. There is a toddler / small child water area in the chldrens zone to help cool the kiddos off. Best advice - to stay hydrated! They offer unlimited refills for the day on their souvenir cups. If you come back, bring your cup to save money on a daily refill sticker.
Justin Messmer
Well-laid out, animals around every corner. Clean walkways and bathrooms. Polite and helpful staff. Short wait to get in for internet purchased tickets. I got to touch a big ole danger ravioli. Parking Saturday morning was it's own adventure. Would recommend.
Seemore Bucks
Great Zoo experience all around. More than a decent selection of animals. A lot of turtles and Birds. Probably appropriate seeing it is Florida. Lots of kid activities and rides. All sections were secluded to themselves and region oriented. A lot of displays let you go inside them and interact with the animals. Great layout over all. We spent 6 hours there and it flew, no birds intended !
😅🤭🤣
Plus the PARKING was FREE!!!
Mileisa Chaparro
Great first time at the zoo! Everyone had a fantastic time! I will definitely be back to visit. It is worth to get the membership or at least check out the Pay-for-a-Day and get in the rest of the year FOR FREE!
David Gordon
I have an annual pass and go to the zoo once or twice a month. I enjoy taking pictures of the animals and talking with the keepers. The backstage tours are worth it as well. I have been on two of these and there are more I will try.
Carl-Rosa Diesing
My husband and I go just to enjoy the day, love the walk and people watching, we enjoy watching families enter-act and of course the animals, we recommend mornings during spring and summertime around breakfast time all the animals are out and it’s not too hot for them ! May everyone have a blessed and great visit 👌🏼🦏🐒🦛🦒🐘

This is a very good size zoo with beautiful foliage and landscaping. Very impressive Manatee hospital with up close encounters with the injured creatures. The Orangutan space is fantastic and they were wonderful to watch. Good food in the snack bars and great service. Good Covid precautions with masks and social distancing. Lots of birds exhibits and the Komodo dragon was a hit. Very large kid play area with rides and fun stuff for all ages.
R Lin
Wow, this is a fantastic zoo for all ages, the perfectly cool and interactive park of your dreams! My mom is animal obsessed so we always stop at a zoo basically anywhere we travel, so it’s safe to say I’ve seen quite a few zoos. It’s also safe to say ZooTampa is so different from every zoo I’ve been to- they have found a way to stand out and impress even me! It’s soo fun! All the animals are grouped by the continent you can find them in naturally, and then there’s a special section just for the celebrities you can find right in the backyard of FL! There are small amusement rides in every section and even shows throughout the day where you can interact up close and personal with various animals. Lots of little restaurants to eat at and stands to grab a quick drink or refresher. It’s hard to even describe but somehow ZooTampa has found a way to make their park so much more homey, it doesn’t feel so caged and like a circus or dirty and stuff like some other zoos feel. This feels just so nice and family-oriented, so laid back and purely enjoyable. I really am blown away impressed, so I say it’s definitely worth the visit!
Sara Stone
Nice park. Definitely worth a trip....lot of walking to do so bring comfy shoes and be sure to put sun protection on you and the kids. They also have two areas for splash pads...one is more filled with fun activities but both are accessible from the front of the park where the entrance is and one in the kid area. They also have a few areas for food and drinks.
Antonio Pinedo
Lots of attractions currently closed or under renewal. Still a good experience, but there's a lot to improve. Used to be much better before COVID.
wendy Sanderson
Generally, I am not a fan of zoos. This one was actually very nice. Habitats are created to resemble the environment they came from.
It did not feel like the animals were imprisoned.Spend a day there, you will not be disappointed!
Baylie F
Great zoo with a good variety of animals! Expensive, but buying a season pass is worth it if you'll visit more than once! Paths are well maintained and animals seem well cared for.
Shelly Bankov
I have lived in Tampa for 15 years and my first visit to Zoo Tampa at Lowry Park was in November 2022, but I wish I had gone there much sooner. This is a beautiful place with so many wonderful animals to see and learn about. The employees are so friendly and knowledgeable and I feel so welcomed there. I especially like watching the monkeys, but all of the animal ambassadors are fantastic. My husband and I became members on our first visit and I anticipate being members for years to come.

We had a great time. It is so big. You can spend all day there. The animals was neat and they had some I had never seen before. I recommend it to everyone.

Was really great I haven't been in a long time and I loved it. Was great for our toddler. The water splash areas were clean and not too crowded. Everything looked great

Wife and I were visiting from Michigan. We like zoos and had to check out the Tampa zoo at Lowry Park. Typical animals you would expect to see except for no lions. Learned today that Africa has penguins in the south. Go figure! Loved the Aviaries. Lots of exotic species. Whoever manages the grounds, flowers, bushes, trees, (etc.) displays deserves a pay raise! We were as much amazed by the grounds as we were the animals. Worth another visit next year.

It was overall a good day but the animals looked really sad and their homes were small. The price was comparable to better zoo's. There wasn't a lot of animals. Workers and maps were hard to find once you left the area near the exit. The gift shop was really cool especially all the stuff made out of trash or stuff that will go towards helping the beach get cleaned. The manatees were awesome as well as maned wolves. But the larger animals were pacing or wanted to get out through their gate and it was hard to watch even knowing that they probably wouldn't be able to survive in the wild again. The woman showing us our photos was rude and impatient and there was no one to tell you about the animals like I've come to expect. However it was a nice day and the hogs/ pigs (Pumba) were very cute.

Loved the zoo and it’s still fun even at my age. The boat ramp and park with gondola’s was also nice, very clean, and unexpectedly did have a couple of places on boardwalk at waters edge in need of repair

I enjoyed Zoo Tampa very much. It was a very hot day in mid-September, and the animals looked exhausted. We got to see the baby Orangutan climbing and interacting with her mother. It was so cute.
