Well I just visited this store for the first time today with the intention of buying a gun, I did not buy a gun because while the female working there was very kind and quite helpful, the guy behind the register clearly made me feel as if he had much more important things to do than spend any time helping me. Not sure what he was doing that was so important that he felt it was a good idea to be rude to a potential customer, but he clearly appeared as if he didn't want to be bothered. Even when the female attendant asked him a question he barely acknowledged her. i will not buy a weapon from him, i may go back but only because of the woman that works there.

Great place to shoot and good prices on guns and pistols. Staff are very polite and helpful. Tried other ranges and Teds is my favorite. Offer classes with knowledgable instructors. Also well stocked on shooters needs.

The entire experience at Ted's Firearms is friendly and welcoming. I took the Firearms Safety course required to apply for a Concealed Weapons Permit from the State of Florida with my 16 Year old Daughter. (Obviously she will not be able to apply for a CCL for some time, but I now know that she has had qualified training on how to handle a gun, if she is ever in the need to use one). Our father daughter experience in a small class of eight people was very pleasant. Jim, our NRA certified instructor, managed to keep most of the class light and fun. He was correct to point out that there were more ladies in the class than there were men and all the ladies seemed to be quite pleased with the atmosphere of the class. Safety is the primary goal and even I learned some new information that I did not know (which does not mean I am an expert by any means but I fired my first handgun some 40+ years ago). The key as in all learning is to listen and to keep an open mind to experiencing new things, if you do that, the class will be fun and informative. (It did not hurt at all that my grouping on the range at the end of class was AWESOME, and my daughter's was very respectable for shooting her first time. I felt completely comfortable with Jim at her side, showing her the safe way to fire a weapon in a controlled environment. Take this class - even if you might not apply for your CCL it could save your life.

First time gun owner went to Ted's to shoot . Every employee was super friendly and helpful in every way. Explaining everything they possibly could without overwhelming me. Would recommend this place to experience shooters and new ones. Will definitely go back again and again

My husband and I took the Firearms Safety Course at Ted’s today. We both thought Jim (the instructor) was very good. He covered all the material in a timely manner while inserting some locale case facts and humor along the way. He made us feel comfortable in the range even though it had been many years since either of us had fired a weapon. The sales staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. The range is nice and clean as well.

These guys are great. They don’t hound you but they have answers to all your needs. Great inventory amd have cool stuff. Shop backs the blue and the range is great! Laid back and I love supporting small businesses. If your around check this place out and their gunsmith Is amazing!! Check him out he’s great to pick his brain.

Second time shooting at Ted’s and another great experience. I usually take a friend with me to shoot and hope that they have a good time as well. Teds staff is always welcoming. We were greeted by a woman immediately upon entering and after a slight mixup charged to my friend for ammo and range time, we were good to go. I was also able to meet “Ted” himself. Very personable guy. I’d like to see a larger firearm inventory however. I also appreciated the range fee discount for retired law enforcement. This will be my go to range from now on.

Great place. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Ted took care of me personally. Went above and beyond for me. Jim helped me the days leading up to my purchase and made great suggestions. Clean store with a large selection of items. They're expanding as well. In my opinion they're the best and only place to go to locally here in St. Petersburg. I will definitely be making all of my firearm purchases from them. Great local business. Look forward to being a regular customer there, they definitely sold me with how well they took care of my dad and I.

We went there today and worked with a young man who is starting Police training tomorrow. He was excellent. He spent a lot of time with us since this was our first time purchasing a gun. He was knowledgeable and patient. We ended up being there a little bit past closing due to making a purchase and the whole staff was great . Thank you for great service. Love this place. The range is great and the employees are very professional with just a hint of friendliness to drive the customer service home. I've been looking for an good range since moving to the county and this is the best one. Yet to buy any firearms but browsing the selections they have quite the options for decent prices too. Overall I had a good experience. The instructor was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. The staff was friendly and respectful. The only take away was just before going to the range when he tried to influence me with his own political views. Speaking of immigrants and refugees are mostly all middle aged men committing crimes. What I found ironic was that he had the audacity to say it days after a white terrorist (that's what he was if if the media wont acknowledge it) Stephen Paddock just killed 58 people and injured over 500 in Las Vegas. Some people will never be fair regardless of how much evidence they have. SMH

I've bought at least 9 guns from them. The whole staff is very knowledgeable and willing to help with any issues. Ted seems a bit gruff but that's just him and I don't mind it. It's nice to have someone not afraid to say what he's thinking.

I will say I have been in many gun shops in my time and this one is just ok so far. I took my girl cousin there after I had bought a 38 for her to shoot and we had a pun intentional blast lol! They have good prices on their firearms and accessories. I am gonna say this, and not in a mean way, but, the only reason I gave you guys a 3.5 and not a 1 is mainly because of your couple of girls and the other guy behind the counter helping me out. I was told by the owner don't ever come into his shop with a loaded concealed firearm (as I do have a concealed pistol lisence in the state of FL) as I was in the process of purchasing a pistol from his shop. I am younger, don't know if that had anything to do with it but he was eye balling me down like a criminal the whole time my CPL and Drivers Lisence was being ran. I almost just walked out, but it was the girls and the other guy working behind the counter that were very nice and kind and kept my respect. As we returned, I stayed away from Ted, and stayed close to a great happy charactered gentlmen that helped us in the range and made my almost non purchase into a return visit to shoot! My advice to the owner, feel free to judge after a background check ok, and the CPL Lisence speaks volumes in that department! Other then that, will consider returning. And if you think I'm making things up, look down at Matt Parks expereince with Mr. Ted.

After finding that the St. Petersburg police pistol club is closed to the public- I found Ted's firearms located on 9th street N -33710. I wanted to shoot my new S&W bodyguard- I purchased 1000 rounds online so I was ready to break in the gun. Jim Lawson waited on me. He was very friendly & when he found out that I was a veteran he gave me a 30 day comp membership for free. In the range I loaded my clip and prepared to start shooting- gun jammed right away- could not get one shoot off then couldn't clear the jam. Went to get Jim's help- he came to the rescue- not only did he clear the jam but brought me a box of bullets from the store to try- my 1000 rounds were out of specs - would not accept any money!! How could you ask for any better service!! Thanks Jim & the other fellow for such a great experience- I can't say enough!!!

I purchased a hand gun at Ted's not long ago. They didn't have it in stock, the next day they received a shipment. I was called and picked it up. Great bunch of folks, Ted introduced his staff who were very friendly and helpful.

Jim the instructor is very thorough and makes sure you understand safety and the laws of firearms. I would recommend this place for anyone who wants to get your cwp. You get to fire off 30 rounds instead of the one round like you see from groupon deals. It's worth the money to get the extra education and hands on experience.

Well stocked, air conditioned indoor range, but folks behind the counter are what counts. If it is firearm related, you're covered. I'm a relative newbie customer, they are my go to FFL, and willingness to HELP makes all the difference. I especially appreciate their efforts to introduce women to self defense CCW and developing their skills, the ladies behind the counter know their stuff.

Took the gun safety class today with my sister niece and sister's friend. None for us had knowledge on using handguns but after the class and having instructor Jim today we all left with feeling great with what he taught us and showed us. I will try to keep this as short as possible. I sweat. I'm not a slider guy. I had to go into the hospital for emergency surgery. When I got home, my glock was FROZEN. The action, had no action. FROZEN with salty sweat. Took it to Ted's Firearms. Not only did he clear the "pipe". He said "I can't let you walk out of the shop intill I clean this. He took it completely apart and CLEANED IT. Now THAT'S service. Thank you.

This place is A bit pricey compared to other places such as Shooter's World. The range has no AC, it's super hot during the summer time.

Selection of handguns for purchase was limited, but they have a great little indoor range for $12 /hr and had a good deal on surplus brass 1000 rounds for the same price the cheapest steel jacket ammo is online after shipping. I was looking for a range that was safe and efficient without having a screaming range instructor breathing down my neck and this place was exactly that. Bring your ear and eye protection like any responsible shooter, and they have everything else you might need to practice. They do have a policy against certain types of steel jacket ammo, like many ranges do now. But their brass ammo on hand was priced extremely fair if that’s all you brought.

They stayed late on a Sunday after already putting the firearms in the back room to assist me in purchasing a firearm and even helped me look for a holster.
