What a great venue! Cool atmosphere... And the acoustics were spot on. The room was lively without sounding muddled. Great drinks you can grab from Cafe Maya this place was so fun. We saw The Arcadian Wild and it was a priceless experience.
Gery Oswald
A very nice place to enjoy an evening of listening to music. We enjoyed our first evening recently and were so impressed with the staff. They took care of everyone's needs, and provided an enjoyable experience.

Lew Shieber
Great space and music you can't hear anywhere else. Newly reopened for in-person concerts and still the best listening space in town.
Mary Ann Young Schulte
Small entertainment venue that features live music. Ticket prices for performances are reasonable. Acoustics are wonderful.
Jason Wever
Excellent, non profit music venue. Concentrates on folk and Americana music. The space has great acoustics and is laid out perfectly as a small venue. Plus you can go next door to the always excellent Maya Cafe to get your drinks!
Melissa Landvatter
Fantastic venue. The name says it all. If you want to focus on the music being played directly in front of you & be in a room of people doing the same-there is no place better than The Focal Point.
Mike Buck

Jake Bishop
The volunteer staff do an awesome job of bringing world-class music to the Saint Louis community. Dervish and Téada stand out in recent memory!
Blake Taylor
Excellent music with an atmosphere focused on the music. Great for discovering good artists. Maya Cafe is right next door for drinks as well, it's very convenient. All told, the Focal Point is top tier for local music arts.
Vicki Lee
Quiet place , great for acoustic music. About 80 seats - lovely, funky music.
Douglas Stone
FP is such a wonderful venue for music. Very comfortable (get a cushion as you come in). You sit within 30 ft if the performers. Food and drink are available next door and from many other locations nearby.

We won tickets to a show at the Focal Point from 88.1 KDHX and although the tickets were only $10 we really appreciated this new experience in St. Louis. This small venue was in the heart of Maplewood, surrounded by great restaurants and places to get drinks or a Strange Donut. The venue probably seated about 100 people but that left no room for dancing which we would have enjoyed. It was very clean and safe.

Nice poetry awards ceremony. The high school poets were especially inspiring!
Tamara Blanke
Focal Point is a great, cozy venue. The monthly Poetry at the Point series is held here every 4th Tuesday, and the venue is really great for poetry readings. The staff at the Maya Cafe, located next door, are very friendly to those attending events at Focal Point, and they make their customer restroom available. Although food is not available at Focal Point, Maya Cafe provides delicious food and great indoor and outdoor seating for before and after shows.

The youngest singer to entertain the audience with a song from Frozen was a wonderful and amazing experience. Focus Point a nice quaint venue with a taste of great talent that was good for the musical spirit. I will attend in the future.

A truly local Maplewood venue with many different events throughout the week / month from folk concerts to Argentine tango dancing. The dance floor is in great shape: perfectly smooth, just the right speed, and the right amount of give. Dance events are typically run by outside organizations so you will need to contact those agencies for specifics.
Mark T

Award-winning, national, and international folk music performers, who aren't properly recognized by the popular music establishment, tour at this intimate venue. There's literally something for everyone every weekend because folk music spans so many genres around the world, including Old Time, Bluegrass, and Americana from here in the States. Any weekend might include a Japanese fingerstyle guitarist, an Irish singer-songwriter duo, or a Middle Eastern string/woodwind/percussion trio. The dedication of the volunteers keeps ticket costs low. It's a great place for a date night or to become a regular audience member and donor.
