Reviews of St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station
Poetry D
Saint Louis is my hometown but I moved away years ago, prior to this aquarium coming there. I really enjoyed my experience. The sea life was so beautiful and active during our visit. I pretty much go to an aquarium in every city I visit and this ranks pretty high with many I've seen. The cost was reasonable discounted rates for children, military/veterans, and seniors. The staff was friendly and interactive with the guest. You can even pet some variations of fish. The aquarium is what used to be the old Union Station mall and it was nice to see what they did with the space. Of course the mall was previously the old historic train station and inside there are still original fixings from the original landmark. Plus the Amtrak train still stops there. Parking was plentiful and cost friendly as well. There were at least 15 other attractions to see there but I only had plans for the aquarium. Great family adventure.

Bought the tickets online for a 9:30am entry. Came on a weekday so it wasn't very busy and had a lot of parking. The aquarium validates parking, so I paid $5 while I was there. Did the virtual train tour, which was a great way to see a bit of history of St. Louis. There were a lot of staff there that were willing to answer questions. A lot of stations where you can pet the sea animals. There is also a large play area for kids, so I would say this place is very kid friendly. I would say it takes about an hour to an hour and half to walk through the entire aquarium while taking many pictures. I would recommend coming closer to 11 as that's when they start to feed the otters. The next feeding would be at 3pm. The otters will spend most of the time swimming around, so the feeding time would be the best to grab pictures of them.

This aquarium is smaller than some but mighty! My son loves the interactive aspects of it, the ability to touch and feel some of the wildlife, and the room to see up close. This aquarium has steps for little ones, plenty of room to view and see the fish, sharks, jellyfish, etc. so there is never a time where you can’t see. The water table, stingrays, turtles, and ability to feed and pet the animals is so incredibly cool! The staff is lovely, knowledgeable, and great with kids! Had a blast for my sons birthday!

A very nice place, love the otters and getting to see there actions as they are fed. Kind of expensive for the size of the aquarium, but I know it cost a fortune to operate an aquarium which contains these types of animals. The staff was friendly and it is a well maintained aquarium. My family had a very nice time. I highly recommend especially if you have young children. A great learning experience.

My 3 year old had a blast, but I think I might have had even more fun! Petting the sting rays was definitely a highlight for all of us! Well kept and great aquarium! I've never been to one other than the one at my local zoo in Iowa and Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha. Thanks for a great experience. We enjoyed Union Station altogether!

I have been to many aquariums and this was one of my favorite. Although smaller it was extremely well designed. Tanks were amazingly clean and all of the animals looked healthy and happy. There are so many cool things to do and see. Lots of exhibits that allow you to interact with the animals. The larger exhibits with the sharks are so good the next best thing would be scuba diving. I was also impressed with all the science backed educational interactive experiences. Also they provide a sensory room for parents to use if necessary. Overall it was a fun, relaxing, educational experience. Me and my kids all agree we would do it again.

This was our first time visiting the aquarium and absolutely loved the experience. We got lucky and were only a handful of people there on a Friday night. So, our son got to have a more hands on/one-on-one experience with a lot of exhibits. When you enter, there is a "train" that you get on which was neat. One of the staff members let him feed some of the fish, which made him very happy. There are exhibits to touch sting rays and starfish, a cartoon type mini theater show where they involve you and tell jokes, as well as a handful of other fun things for kids. I definitely recommend visiting!

I have been to a few Aquariums in touristy locations, and this one is pretty good, comparatively. When you first get in you see the iconic "clock" that there are so many pictures of. Then you go on a "train ride" tour of the city, with John Goodman. Then they let you see the fish. As soon as you start looking around, you see how much they care for the fish there. (It's a lot!). They have a lot of interactive displays, so this is a great place for kids. At first it seemed like the aquarium was pretty small, but it went on for longer. There is a wonderful children's area in the middle that makes it feel as if you are approaching the end, but there's lots more excitement ahead.

We visited St. Louis just for the aquarium. We loved how clean and interactive the whole aquarium was. My 2 year old loved the archer fish feeding and the otters swimming. They have many interactive stations for all ages to touch moon jellyfish, starfish, stingrays, and nurse sharks. They had a large water table as well. The shark exhibit wasn't as large as we had hoped, but they did a great job with showing different angles of the tank. Don't plan for this to be a day long thing, but a couple hours would be enough!

We had an awesome time at the St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station! We went on a Tuesday and it wasn’t a super busy day, which was nice. We were greeted by several of the workers and they were more than happy to tell us about the different fish and other animals that we saw. We were really excited about getting to see both of their sea turtles up close by one of the big viewing windows! We also enjoyed their jellyfish touch tank, which was a very unique experience. As with their other touch tank area, you’re only allowed to touch them gently with two fingers. It’s not a huge aquarium, compared to some, but it’s a great aquarium nonetheless…we will be back.

Buy tickets online to reserve a time to enter the aquarium. If you go early the line to get in is not long.
Aquarium is small and you can get through it quickly BUT it has a lot of employees to educate you about the sea life so it’s very entertaining. It was very nice and we had lots of fun. The shark area is beautiful.
Vipila Bathvar
It was amazing experience. Lots to see and explore. Train experience was really nice.
Lots of unique sights to see like sharks, octopus, color-changing jelly fish, blue lobster (in honor of The Blues), spitting fish (my favorite show), baby seahorses, otters, etc.
It's a self-guided tour, but there are staff members nearby to answer questions if need be. The tour is really at your own leisure, super chill and there's plenty to see. They suggest setting aside about an hour and a half to 3 hours to explore everything. Took us about an hour and a half and we felt like we spent a good amount of time on each exhibit and saw everything we wanted.
Tons to explore outside of the Aquarium as well.
At the end of the tour, there's a nice gift shop full of jewelry, stuffed animals, candy, tourist gifts, etc. Definitely gonna try the Ferris Wheel next time we go. It's a little expensive but worth the experience!

This was a really cool place. Our kiddos had a great time. They loved all the hands on exhibits. This place is meant for kids. I loved the train thing at beginning such a cool part. I gave it a 4 because if you rush through it you will be done in an hour. Stop and experience it all. If you do it will take you still about 3 hours. Lots of fun things to do.

The two main standouts of this aquarium has going for it is how interactive it is and the pricing is fair ($86 for 2 adults and 2 children). I hope that they plan on expanding because it’s rather small and you will be in and out in less than 45 min to an hour. It wouldn’t be fair to compare this to your regular city a aquarium size wise. Not bad at all. I would recommend if you are okay with the factors listed above. The kids had a great time.
Sierra Wilson
I went recently for the first time near open and it's better than I expected. Walking through the various exhibits they have was an immersive experience. I never thought Union Station would get such an interesting make over with the writing of the aquarium. I feel there's just as much for adults as there is kids, just wished us gotten in sooner to see the otter feeding. All in all, it's still a very time place, but I think it'll stick around. Not quite as good as the zoo, but there's effort being made.
2 Sisters Together 2 Sisters Forever
We had a blast! One of us has been here before, and they played the role of our guide. Tommy the Otter was Awesome! Interactive and Funny! Highly recommended this attraction if your in the downtown Saint Louis area.
Jared Berry
Loved the interactive exhibits, and variety of animals all packed into a relatively small space. I greatly enjoyed my time and would recommend the aquarium to anyone, but the experience is definitely geared more towards small children. Taking away a star for the price of admission, but otherwise this is a great addition to the number of things to do in STL!

PROS: Family friendly, spacious, and fun atmosphere.
CONS: Front doors do not slide open for those utilizing a stroller or wheelchair.
TIPS: Get there on time as it can get busy late morning/early afternoon. Parking is NOT free and requires credit card only.

I enjoyed my family's visit. It's smaller than expected and the openings for viewing was smaller as well. But overall, it was a pleasant experience. The staff was very kind and answered all questions my curious daughter asked. We also added the mirror maze which was my favorite part. It was so much fun! I highly suggest it if you're planning your visit. I plan on returning when it's not as crowded.
Stacie Mitchell
The aquarium was amazingly beautiful! Had a great day with the family. We bought the pass for the Ferris wheel, the maze, carousel, and aquarium, and mini golf. Unfortunately we ran out of time and didn't get to do the maze or mini golf and trying to find help to get refunded was next to impossible. Needless to say we had to eat the cost of those adventures. Other than that, it was a great day.
R Cusick
I didn't find the price for this exhibit too high at all. The experience is what you make of it.
I visited on a Saturday morning. I think I was the only adult going through the Aquarium by myself. I feel like we should always be learning, and marine life has always fascinated me. It was certainly enjoyable from an adult point of view, even though many activities are tailored to children.
You start in a beautiful entryway, with an antique clock and screens on the ceiling stimulating a whale passing overhead. You then take a "virtual train ride" narrated by John Goodman if you wish before entering the exhibit. There were doctor fish, which eat the dead skin off your hands--not for me, but others seemed to enjoy. Stingrays, eels, otters, an octopus, a boa, tree frogs, an iguana, and jellyfish. There were many hands on activities, including one where you could get a high five from a passing ray in the water, and a display of how changing landforms affect bodies of water. I appreciated the emphasis on education and conservation. The tour guides were all very friendly and full of knowledge. I especially enjoyed learning from the person showcasing shark teeth, turtle jaws, and more!
All in all, great fun. Glad I checked it out.

Just visited a couple days ago. Date night for me and my boyfriend.
Located in Union Station, We thoroughly enjoyed the interactive experience. There were multiple exhibits where you could touch live sea creatures.
The array of underwater life was neat and the view during parts of the walk through was stunning.
If you get hungry they have a few restaurants in/near Union Station. A big Ferris Wheel to ride (which we also did). I recommend doing so at night to see the night life and city lights. They also have a fire & light show every hour on the hour, it was cute.
There are other things we didn't get to, like: miniature golf, mirror maze, ropes course, carousel, but that's okay, just means we will need to go back! Definitely family oriented!
Emmett McKenna
The aquarium is beautiful and a great experience if you are there at the right time, but you need to avoid it at certain times. I've been three times and it's a great place for tourists and kids to go, but last time I went on a Saturday afternoon there were way too many parents with kids there and it ruined the experience. They need to do a better job limiting how many people are in there at once. We were unable to get close enough to see most of the exhibits because too many parents and kids were obstructing the views. For the cost, it's not worth it if you can't get close enough to see the exhibits.
Randy Brownlee
We took my family just after Christmas. They have a beautiful setup to highlight the animals. My kids really enjoyed the touch tanks, especially the sting rays. I think we spent well over an hour there maybe two. Staff was very friendly and seemed to enjoy what they are doing. Great experience!
Kimberly Auzins
Lots to see and explore. Cool exhibits, hands-on activities like petting the sting-rays, sea anemones, jellyfish, and my personal favorite: the toothless Garra Rufa fish that nibble on your hands to exfoliate the skin.
Lots of unique sights to see like sharks, octopus, color-changing jelly fish, blue lobster (in honor of The Blues), spitting fish, baby seahorses, otters, etc.
It's a self-guided tour, but there are staff members nearby to answer questions if need be. The tour is really at your own leisure, super chill and there's plenty to see. Took us about an hour and a half and we felt like we spent a good amount of time on each exhibit and saw everything we wanted.
Tons to explore outside of the Aquarium as well.
Lots of food, ice cream, restaurants and novelty shops.
At the end of the tour, there's a nice gift shop full of jewelry, stuffed animals, candy, tourist gifts, etc. Definitely gonna try the Ferris Wheel next time we go. It's a little expensive but worth the experience!

We were treated to a virtual train and quite a few animal exhibits and attractions.
The aquarium is laid out really well as it has a more set path to follow to help the groups and masses of people that come flow through easily.
For the price it was much smaller than I thought, and you do have to pay for parking.
Plan on spending about 1 1/2 here if you only do the aquarium, and don't validate parking if you only spend that little amount of time there as you end up spending more for parking that you would have otherwise.
Renee
We were enthralled with the aquarium and all of its inhabitants! We expected it to be a short trip through, especially since we didn't have any children with us, but we ended up spending a couple of hours peeking into the lives of the aquatic creatures. We pre-purchased a timed ticket and were let in promptly. The first stop was on a train car with the BEST conductor, Jellyfish Jarret. There was a brief intro film that was geared toward children, then we were released into two floors of various sizes of aquariums. On the first floor there were a surprising number of fish who actually watched us through the glass just as much as we watched them, there were fish who spit out of the water to get their food, and there were otters who performed acrobatic feats underwater. The second floor was full of tanks that we could get as up close and personal with the animals as we were comfortable with. Throughout the aquarium there were many friendly staff members to help out and answer any questions. The aquarium was fantastic and is a great way to spend an afternoon!

So Much fun, .Very Interactive, and Really Designed to keep the entire family entertained. Only Reason 4/5 Stars is some of the exhibits were closed down and as much as I would love to say this is the family go to spot it STL, Honestly the Zoo has pretty much all the same animals and exhibits. However, what you are paying for is the experience at the Aquarium and that was 1st class with interactive train ride with John Goodman narrating the journey as the conductor! Great Stuff!
Monica Hernandez
I’ve been to a lot of Aquarium’s in the past, and this one is by far my favorite. The experience begins with a train ride hosted by John Goodman, after that, you’re free to move along the Aquarium at your own pace. There are lots of exhibits along the way, as well as many hands-on activities for all ages. You’ll find plenty of fish, sea life, and other water creatures to keep
you interested. Piranha’s, sea horses, sharks, otters, stingray’s, jellyfish, and dragonfish are just a few of the creatures you’ll encounter here.
I really enjoyed my visit, and if I ever find myself back in Saint Louis, I’ll definitely take the time to visit this Aquarium again.
Highly recommended!

I made this trip to St Louis and the Union Station was one of my stops. I purchased tickets online which was a plus. The prices were not high at all I got the aquarium + 4 for only $45 a person. There is a lot of things to do here for families or just going on a date. Food, adult beverages, ice cream and sweets, gift shops, mini golf, ferris wheel, mirror maze and more. The only issue was it really wasn't a full aquarium it was more like an activity center. I'm glad I stopped in to have a good time.
J.R. Sedivy
I felt this experience was mixed.
It starts out really cool and kind of high-tech with the initial lobby with morphing projections and a virtual-sim tour which felt fairly realistic. However the aquarium itself felt fairly low tech, antiquated, and old fashioned by comparison.
Overall it's worth a look and there are some cool attractions here, especially the shark exhibit, but all-in-all it seems inconsistent.
Something that did stand out compared to other aquariums is the ability to touch certain items such as jellyfish and stingrays among others. There's even an exhibit near the beginning where you can place your hand in the water and a large number of small fish will nibble on your hand. This was really fun.
Danielle Hall
Very nice aquarium. Not a huge place but a nice place to visit for a couple hours and the exhibits are so nice, spacious, & clean for the animals on display. We really enjoyed our visit. We had checked out of our hotel after coming here for 2 baseball games and were looking for something to do for a few hours before heading home. This was perfect!
Kristen Morton
Absolutely incredible, the dome at the beginning is my favorite part, I really want to just throw a blanket on the ground and watch it play for hours. There's a fun virtual train ride before you go in and great exhibits inside, fun interactive stations for kids, over all great time!
Terrence Mahnken
The St. Louis Aquarium is one of the best aquariums we’ve been too. The production quality of the entire area rivals Disney in terms of variety, lighting, and sound production.
There was a great variety of exhibits to the archer fish where they demonstrate their spiting ability to the touch tank filled with stingrays, horseshoe crabs, and sharks. We even got to feed the stingrays. Other exhibits include doctor fish (where you can put your hand in the tank and the little fish nibble away your dead skin), river otters, and a virtual deep sea adventure highlighting creatures found in the abyssal zone.
The only criticism is that it is rather short compared to other aquariums but considering it’s only been open for 2 years, it is really impressive nonetheless.
Montell Fields
Beautiful aquarium with very friendly employees who seem to really care about the animals there.
The tanks are very clean compared to other aquariums we have visited. Our son loved the upstairs children area! I love getting to interact with the stingrays . Great place for a family day!
Paul Blair
Right in the heart of downtown St.Louis, MO. Union Station has been refurbished to host the St.Louis Aquarium, a ropes course, mini golf, Ferris Wheel, some dining options, and a very family-friendly atmosphere. The aquarium was clean, lots of sea creatures to see and touch. Was a bit pricey compared to some of the others we have been to in the region. We were thru the aquarium under an hour and saw everything. Little kids will love it.
B. R.
Great place to bring the kids! This is much smaller than the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago but still a great experience.
Don't walk too fast! Take time to check out all the different fish and marine life! Hands-on experiences like the 3D sand islands (topography), touching the sting rays, touching the jelly fish, damming & channeling water on a table, the little play areas & more all make this an incredible experience if you give yourself and your kids enough time to slow down and enjoy it! They also have scheduled times for the otter show.
Definitely worth the money as long as you don't jump quickly from exhibit to exhibit and rush through it like a lot of people do at zoos or other places.

This was the first time I have been here since it opened and I was not disappointed. Plenty to see for adults, and also plenty for the kids to see and do. This trip was just my wife and I. All the staff that I conversed with were extremely polite and knowledgeable. I will definitely be going back when I can. I did not get a lot of pictures because I was in awe most of the time. This fit right in to my love of water.

Booked online was easy you know we went a little earlier than our tickets stated they still let us through it was interesting to see wish it was a little bigger. I first experience there and we got the ride the simulated train in the room it was cool, At one point it literally felt like we were actually riding a train that was moving lol
Tara7355
Was a really great experience, you get to pet little sting rays and anemones and there are a few interactive exhibits too. Would definitely come again! I bought the aquarium fantastic five package for 45 per person, so I got to do the aquarium, Mirror maze, Ferris wheel, miniature golf and ropes course. All conveniently located in union station. Highly recommended! Food places and places to get alcoholic beverages throughout.
Misti
This was such a great experience. I got to touch a sting ray and sea anenomie, which I never thought I would do in my life. They had some really cool light shows with music playing and had some cool places to go to eat very close by. This is such a great place to go as just an adult couple but definitely with kids.
Morgan Shepard
Great location, Union Station is really pretty with a few restaurants and the fountain/fire show. The Aquarium itself, is more of a kids activity center. Not much aquatic life at all. If you DONT have a child between the ages of 3-13, you may be disappointed in the lack of things to look at. We had an infant with us, so we were unable to do the kids activities. We walked through slowly, and were still done in 30 min or less. Not worth the $25 if you don't participate in the kids activities.
Joe S
I hate aquariums and zoos. This place was awesome! It’s like a hands on house with live sea life. If your going to be small you better do something different. I had such a good time with my family!
J W
Took my wife here for our 20th anniversary. She's disabled and terminal, but loved every bit of it. Some areas aren't quite as wheelchair accessible as they could be and are hard to navigate. Obviously the designers\architects planned only for the minimal room for wheelchair clearance and nothing more like a larger chair, accessories, someone pushing or otherwise helping, etc. This made some of the areas frustrating to navigate, but not all areas are like this.
Unlike a lot of other aquariums I've been to where they try to cram as many fish as possible in tanks for people to see, the St. Louis aquarium seems to try and focus on the aquatic life in the lakes and rivers in Missouri, and ultimately where the Mississippi meets the Gulf of Mexico. So the variety of fish isn't overwhelming, but it is very informative, displayed very well, and you can see the fish in great detail with the tank designs.
The third level of the aquarium has a "hands on" area where you can touch some of the aquatic life such as starfish, rays, sharks, turtles, plants, etc,. Staff is on hand and very informative about all things available as well.
At the end of course there is a gift shop with the usual selection of shirts, cups, stuffed animals, toys, etc. The shirts were actually decent quality and not outrageously overpriced.
I'm glad I brought my wife here as she thoroughly enjoyed it and had one of the best days she has had in a very long time.
Coreane Mangione
Small but amazing aquarium! The interactive exhibits we're really creative and my kids (6 and 8) loved it. The sand exhibit where you could create land as you scooped the sand was amazing (I wanted to keep playing when my kids were done!) and the interactive otter that actually talked to the audience had my 6 yr old begging to go again. The friendly stingrays and otters were awesome. Highly recommend.
Nora Thomas
I took my daughter and grandchildren here. Best time ever! Kids were so amazed by it all. Ages 2 thru 12. Freindly staff and clean environment. They take your group photo upon entering and you can buy it at the end. It sits on my fireplace mantel. I flew out from the state of Washington to vacation with them in St. Louis. Super fun packed 5 days. We will be back again.
Verjulia

Dennis Frymire
There's a lot to enjoy at the aquarium. Though it is small - you can get through all the exhibits in about an hour - there are plenty of interactive exhibits and the staff is friendly and eager to create a fun experience for the kids. We are members and our kids always have a great time here.
Thomas Medder
Like others have said it is a little pricey but I thought well done and my kids had fun so it was good. The virtual train is fun but the screens move quickly so be aware. My kids enjoyed the spitting fish and the sand table where they could dig a lake and river. A lot of new things to do at Union Station now. Fun few hours.
Michelle Headrick
The Aquarium was much smaller than I anticipated but it still packed a lot into it. Staff was very friendly and accommodating to sensory needs. They have a great open play area with a variety of activities for all ages on the second floor. There are plenty of opportunities to view large tanks and see a variety of fish and sharks.
Daniel Krier
The aquarium did a great job of mixing technology and real life exhibits. From the hands on petting of various fish including stingrays, turtles, and starfish to the virtual otter exhibit that interacts with the kids and the 3D aquarium of the kids' coloring projects. So much fun! The interactive underwater walkway was a blast too.
Sarah Cotter
Went on a Thursday early afternoon. Was Great! Not crowded! Highly recommend going, to anyone visiting St.Louis. The whole exhibit was great, but the shark tank was the best! We bought the ticket that included 5 things to do with the aquarium. Best Deal! Rode the Ferris wheel, did the mirror maze, did mini golf. It also included the Carousel, but we didn't ride that. Fun times 👍🤙😃
Morgan Elise
Very nice aquarium. I love that it's in a bigger shopping area too. After we got done, we walked around Union Station. It was very peaceful. I'd recommend going during the week as we felt rushed because there were several kids and careless parents all around us.
Brian Sharp
Wow we had a great day today at Union Station. Me and my daughter enjoyed the aquarium today we had a lot of fun. The virtual train ride was a lot of fun and my daughter enjoyed all the aquatic Life.
Clay Peterson
I loved all the hands on exhibits. The main aquarium could have been designed a bit better for viewing area but it works well with what's there. Very interactive and for our 3 and four year old it was great.
Miranda’s Moments
We heard from a few locals yesterday that the aquarium was a let down and we shouldn’t have booked it, but we still went and we were so glad we did!!! It was so fun and they had a lot of neat things to see. If you had kids it definitely offered more, but we still had a great time. The sea otters were definitely my fav.
Margaret Schlichter
Very small but nice aquarium. Several touch tanks and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Animals seemed healthy and happy. Takes about 60-90 minutes to see everything.
Mi-Mi Ingram
This was our First visit and it was VERY fun. The kids were excited for the hands on Experience. Very clean & Great family environment. Loved the climate controlled Wheel..Great Views!
Maeve Charles
There are some good exhibits, and you can pet stingrays, starfish and small sharks. Aquarium access alone is 25 for adults, and it is a bit pricey considering that the actual aquarium is somewhat small and doesn't take a lot of time to go through. There is also a giant Farris wheel, a rope course and even miniature golf, but all cost extra and ticket packages are very confusing.
Jennifer Mitchell
If you are wanting the kids to really have an awesome day, pet some sting rays as well as feed them, feel the jellyness of a jelly fish, pet a new creature, see beautiful fish as well as sharks, watch a fire show, eat some good food, this is the place to go.
This aquarium gives a new feeling as to how an aquarium should be. It's fantastic as well as the staff. The staff are so friendly, educational, and answers all your questions.
Also, it's not just an aquarium as they also have a room of mirrors ( $8 per person) as well as rope climbing ( can't remember the name of it now but it is an obstacle course for adults and children.)
Outside they have a jungle gym followed by a big pond with tons of coi you can feed, as well as a merry-go-round and ferris wheel. There are a couple of resteraunts . I havent even mentioned the amazing past to this place. It used to be the Union Station, check into its history and its absolutely amazing how they made it into what it is now.
As you leave, you will see the Arch too. Such a beautiful place.
I suggest trying everything out, you will not regret it.
Sarah S
This was a great way to spend the day. I love how the aquarium was set up to feel like a journey. You get to interact, touch, watch, learn, and view in this exhibit. John Goodman does the voice over on the 'train ride' to the aquarium- which was very neat and fun for kids. The beautiful visual display while you wait for your 'train ride' was worth the trip on its own. We were lucky enough to see them cleaning the tanks and were able to experience the 'Touch exhibit' with sea stars, stingrays, mantas and sea anemones. The variety and size of the various fish/mamals/amphibians was impressive. Although we didn't see one, the aquarium offers various animal interaction exhibits for kids at set times throughout the day. So, call ahead if you intend to catch one.
The staff was helpful and informative. The variety and size of fish was incredible. The otter exhibit was really cool. Overall, it was a great experience and worth the money. We went on Monday, at around 1:15, and it wasn't crowded at all. Cute gift shop too.
This is an excellent date location or weekend outing for the whole family. I highly recommend it. We also did the Soda Fountain for lunch, the mirror maze, the ropes course, and mini golf. All were a lot of fun and reasonably priced. The wheel was the only experience we missed. I hear its excellent at night.
Antonia Guevara
This place is so beautiful and fun. Great place for children, families and friends. Lot to see and do. Big wheel is a must to ride. Aquarium is beautiful to see. Just enjoyed this place.
kelli griffin
We are season pass holders and it really makes It easy and affordable. They have great programs with hands on attractions. There are several areas for kids under 12 years of age. The gift shop usually has shirts for $10. You can also bring your parking ticket in and have it stamped at the St. Louis tourism kiosk. Our parking was only $4!
Tiffany Nicole
We love the aquarium. It is a little pricey to get in but a great exhibit. There were several parts that had hands on activities and such an awesome variety of beautiful creatures! It is absolutely worth checking out. Very cool, beautiful experience.
Jaz Robertson
Me and my nephew really enjoyed!! Wish the price was a lot more affordable. It's way too small for the price you pay for admission. Sadly, it makes it a one time experience since it's so small and expensive.
Kent Ward
For an Aquarium inserted around hotels and restaurants it actually was quite nice. The kids enjoyed seeing their favorite otters, sea turtles, doctor fish, and petting the sharks and rays. Highly recommended getting the pass so everything seems cheaper the more you do. But for a rainy day in July this was a great distraction.
Katie Turner
I really wanted to love this. It was a nice experience and it was beautiful inside, I just felt like they didn’t have much for how big the place is. A lot of repeats in different tanks. Would have been cool to see a mass variety of sea creatures.
Rosemary Watson
Very neat place to visit. I particularly liked the sharks. At $25 for an adult for the basic admission I don’t think it’s over priced, as the upkeep of the place must cost a lot. I given 4 stars because if you go without children, as we did, you have to skip quite a large chunk. If you took kids there are a ton of things with hands on aspects that they would love. We were there at lunch but in the evening I think it would be great. You could go and eat in one of the restaurants (there were also food trucks) and watch the light show that they randomly do over the lake. You wouldn’t necessarily have to pay to go in the aquarium either. My other reason for 4 stars is that we tried to get a table at the soda fountain and were told it was a 45 minute wait for 3 people, despite it being Monday at noon.
Joshua
It was great to see St. Louis finally get a true aquarium a few years back, and there are some nice qualities to this one. The presentation is colorful and stylish (including some nifty technical flourishes), the staff is courteous, and there are some cool hands-on elements, including the chance to physically interact with several different animals. It's also worth pointing out that the renovated Union Station area that the aquarium is situated in is beautiful, with some other attractions you can do, including some decent eateries and some other activities.
There are, though, some things that hold the aquarium back, including criticisms that were noted when it first opened up that still hold true. It's not a large aquarium; you can breeze through all of it in under an hour, and even if you linger everywhere you'll be pushing it if you're there for more than two. Some parts of the aquarium can get cramped, especially on a busy day and even with timed entry. (I'm looking at you, otter feeding.) And there isn't much information about most of the sea life beyond basic placards showing the names, complemented by a handful of pieces of general trivia.
Price is also a bit of a nit. Admission will run $85-100 for a family of four depending on ages. That's a little higher than Sea Life in KC (which is similar in size, if more detailed) and a little lower than Newport Aquarium in Cincy (which is much larger). So not outrageous, but also some money. (Small consolation: if show aquarium tickets at the front desk parking is only $5.)
Despite all that, my kids had a good time, which counts for something. So maybe 3 1/2 stars on this one. I don't know that this will be a recurring visit for us, but it's not a bad bit of local culture to experience.
J. F
It's not that bad. The crew there knew about the species and readily provided input. Very informative, polite, and friendly. Would've been better if it wasn't so congested with participants. Thus, not every child or person gets an opportunity to or for interactions. It was a unique experience overall and I would suggest seeing this in person. It was fun.
WRATH
Loved the actual aquarium. Lots of different species to see and learn about. The train themed introduction was cheesy and can cause issues if you are prone to motion sickness. The "timed or slotted" entrance of the aquarium makes the experience feel rushed, like you're being pushed through the aquarium bc there's another group behind you.
Rajesh Subramanian
Definitely has some cool things not seen in other aquariums. Spitting fish! The petting ponds are really fun. But IMO not worth the general admission.
Tracy Riebeling
The aquarium was awesome ! It was very small but the decor was so great. They had alot if interactive areas and people to inform you of the exhibits. We are all glad we came 😁. Once there they have all kinds of stuff to do for kids and adults. …
Val Gutierrez
Nice Aquarium and there’s so much more to do outside of the aquarium. Loved all the fish that we saw. Definitely kid friendly and is always a great family option. I would visit again 🐟🐠🐡 …
János Nagy (Jangce)
It's a great place for a family day, the kids will love it. There are multiple attraction, our favorite was the aquarium. 3-4 hours is the minimum you want to spend here.
Samantha Napoleon
A very overwhelming yet underwhelming experience. There wasn't a lot of things to see at the aquarium and the line wait is terrible. But it was very beautiful when we got in and there were about 5 or 6 interactive exhibits where you can touch the fish so that was very fun. I recommend dipping your hand in the Dr. Fish tank and letting the little guys nibble on your hands (definitely the coolest part of the place). Of course I'm speaking from an adult standpoint cause I can guarantee your kids will have the time of their lives here.
Fervij Khennah Hardwick
It's a must to visit when you are in STL. I love how there are so many areas for kids to play and interact with the stingrays and the other sea animals🥰🥰 Inside has some educational area where kids can color and learn some cool stuff about fishes. Kids can do zipline inside as well .Also we did the ferris wheel after the aquarium it's an awesome experience to see the downtown
Joe Jones
Incredible place, absolutely what an Aquarium should be like, not a big place, but right for the midwest. The Café upstairs was really good for the price. Played a game of mini golf there too. And your man Eric upstairs at the touch pool is The Man, so funny and knowledgeable about all the things in the touch tabk
Zuly Alvarez
We were there in March , it was a great experience. Perfect for younger children and it has some other activities there for older kids . We took our little man (18 months) I was concerned it would be too much considering younger kids have less patience and their attention span is limited lol. But it was great and it kept his attention throughout the visit. We plan to go back with our older girls to try out the older kid activities! Mabe I’ll update to 5 stars ✨ then.
Bobbi Jo
My son and I had the most amazing experience! From beginning to end it was so much fun, and not only for my son but I really enjoyed it too. There are so many different things to see and touch. It's really just an amazing experience. We will be going back.
Jerry Jones
It was a great experience the ticket prices were not bad 25 dollars per person for the aquarium only. I loved there variety of fishes and animals there would highly recommend going there again.
Cynthia
Loved this aquarium! Can definitely see in one day/ afternoon. Family friendly. It's inside a big building, and there are lockers just outside the aquarium.
Sarah Ray
My partner and I came here on a date night and I can honestly say it was a blast! They have countless interactive stations and live shows. They have a weekly “animal guest” that they bring out with one of the workers (when we visited they had a giant hissing cockroach, but they have snakes and tarantulas that come out too)! It’s clear why this is a go to spot for parents wanting their kids to learn about aquatic life but honestly this place is just as fun for adults! It’s relatively small so you go through it quickly but it’s well worth it. $25 per adult is the price we paid and it was well worth it. My favorite exhibits were the jellyfish and the fish that are used for pedicures that eat the dead skin off your hands/feet (I don’t know the exact name of them).
Melissa Gillihan
We went there for my daughter's birthday. We have never been. It was better than I was expecting. We did it a little turned around so make sure you get a map when you first get there. Otherwise we had a blast 😉!! …
Eli Flowers
The aquarium was a good experience. The fish tanks were fun and impressive. The petting and hands-on areas were excellent for the kids. The ticket price is high for the amount of content/activity that's available.
Eric Willson
Lots of really cool fish that I had never seen before. The aquarium was smaller than I expected so I felt like I saw everything in less than an hour, but it was still fun.
Madison Sumner
It was alright, I really appreciate the hands on experiences, but there is also not a ton to do. Me and my family expected a full day excursion, but it took about an hour. It was very well decorated, but was overpriced. There is a fun train theme for kids, and it was an interactive experience. I do also see that the fish are happy and healthy, and the staff is very knowledgeable. Maybe not for a full day trip, but if you want to get away for an hour, this is a good place to go.
Baby Yeezy
A really nice aquarium. There is a lot of interactive stations where you can touch the sea life. All of the staff were extremely friendly and more than happy to answer any questions we had. Only reason I give it 4 stars is because I feel like the cost of the ticket is not what you should be paying for this size of aquarium. It was on the smaller size and it is a very linear experience. Other than that it was a great time and would recommend people go check it out at least once!
Becky L
We had a fun time! Although I was expecting more for the price. There wasn’t much to look at and you couldn’t even pet the animals they had out because of how crowded it is. The only good part of this aquarium are these doctor fish.
Samantha Mendoza
Best museum ever!!! Very interactive and interesting ! All of the staff was friendly and taught us so much. Never thought I’d be touching a jelly fish before I came here!!! Can’t wait to come back
Mitchell “BurDock Root” Bauman
I hope they are feeding those fish steak Ala carte. Had to refinance my home and sell
one of my kids just to take the other one. For the money I should have been able to tickle a great white’s belly button. After all that my son ended up crying at the end because he didn’t get to ride a carousel after 3 hours there. And what would’ve been half the cost of somebody’s doctorates degree.. in all honesty we had a great time. And I’ll have to work Saturday. Lol. Keep up the great work STL…🙏
Kaitlyn Hernandez
Such an amazing experience! Multiple opportunities to interact, watch demonstrations, and enjoy the touch tanks. Kid zone throughout, which provides kids additional opportunities to play!
FW
This was a great way to send a Monday afternoon with the family!! I loved how everything was interactive and the every last one of the staff manning the exhibits were really nice and helpful! Looking forward to going back!
Amanda M
The aquarium was smaller than I expected and the space didn’t seem like it was used as effectively as some of the other aquariums I’ve been to. My son’s favorite part was the doctor fish tank but the attendant really tried to rush people through it which is annoying considering the cost of admission. There are 2 more touch tanks on the second floor and those attendants let people spend as much time as they liked at them. It definitely seems geared more towards very small children than a lot of aquariums which was nice for us because we had 2 smallish kids with us. The way they do ticketing and a video at the beginning really made for a very crowded first floor but the second floor had more space and people were able to spread out a bit more. If you’re with little kids don’t miss the conservation center just outside the aquarium. You can color a fish, scan it and it will go on a large screen. That is free and was really fun!
KB Raif MD
Amazing aquarium. Nice displays and very educational. Lot of nice activities for kid. The train ride is plus. Must see in STL. Also next to union Station hotel and show , and rope course
Destiny Alton
Amazing aquarium. So many interactive exhibits. Employee Rob went out of his way to provide exceptional customer service. He very patiently answered all of our questions and gave us educational information on several of the species. This is the last day we get to spend together as a family until Christmas, and Rob made our aquarium experience extra special.
LA KESHA Dean (ASKKEE)
My kids wouldn't touch anything but you can actually touch the animals. I touched a starfish and a shark and all kinds of things I've only seen on movies and TV. It was a really great experience. I do feel sorry for wildlife being captured for our pleasure but it's awesome to see up close. Do everything!!! Have a ball!!!!
J Amery
This place is a terrific way to chase away some of the winter blues. The exhibits are interactive and there's lots to do for all ages. The staff was friendly and very helpful.
Michael Kaylor
Very awesome, kids had fun all day long. But everything costs now days. And this place is no different. But well worth the time and $$.
Lines were not a really big problem and the 1 problem we had they employees fixed immediately.
Kevin Setchfield Lenox
Took my wife and 2 year old son here. He had an absolute blast! HEADs up, you need a reservation for the seafood restaurant. I was born and raised in Saint Louis and I am proud to see we are building our beautiful city back up. Highly recommend!
Kassy McMichael
Fun experience. A bit pricey but I think that's because most everything else in STL is free or dirt cheap. I and my kids (7/9) enjoyed the exhibits, interactive sections, and pace. We got thru it in a couple of hours. Parking was $1/hr during a weekday. We ate at the Soda Fountain after and they will validate parking if you remember to bring it with you.
Lyla Novakowski
Inclusive and fantastic. Today was extremely busy and of course our life is still messy. However, we are blessed to know that we are always welcomed. Staff didn’t skip a beat and is always there to help out. If you live here the annual pass is completely worth it. Thank you.
Kit Brooks
We went on a Friday night, and there was barely anyone inside. I loved getting to touch starfish, sea urchins, and the rays. There are otters and angel fish as well, along with song amphibians and other fish. Watching the turtle and sharks in the main tank was so fun with my girlfriend.
Raychel Ward
I really liked how hands on this aquarium is. I had just been to Shedd recently and I love Shedd, but the hands on opportunities are eh. Union Station aquarium had a whole level of interactive things to do. I was able to feed turtles, makes lakes and islands in sand, experiment with the flow of water for making a ship go down a river, touch jellyfish, have doctor fish nibble my hands, touch anemones, urchins, and starfish, and touch stingrays in a saltwater tank. Overall it was a ton of fun.
The aquarium itself is kind of small and young, but the tanks are maintained very well and the animals looked healthy. If you really wanted to spend a lot of time here, I think 3-4 hours is stretching it. (But that's my opinion. I love fish so I could have made it shorter.)
Damisha Tavares
Absolutely had a ball! My kids enjoyed all the live action. Petting and feeding all the animals was great experience for them.
Jordyn H.
If you want to go and be able to see everything with not a lot of people Thursday's at 12:30 is the way to go. I have been several times over the past couple of months and it was the best experience this time! Even bought two annual passes for little over 100 total. Can't wait to go again.
Becka Lynn
Friendly neat place but was t worth $25/per adult for the amount of time it takes to walk through.. wasn’t bad but won’t be a “must go”place.
Jacob & Stacey Dvorak
Stopped on the way thru town to get the kids some time outside of the car, pre ordered tickets was key to make sure the right time slot was available. Waiting in line didn’t take long to enter the aquarium but if we showed up right at our time slot it could have been a longer wait.
Interactions thru out the day for feeding and experience are great, second floor had hands on activities that got the kids minds working and being able to touch the rays is always a highlight.
The Shark Cove was one of the best we have seen away from the ocean and the quality of the viewing areas made a great moment for the kids.
Shelinkzz
It was a good first experience. I liked it alot, and my daughter had fun too! Great for all ages! They also had mini golf, a carousel, mirror maze, big ferris wheel tour, and sky obstacle course/zip line.
Cheyènna
The employees were nice and the aquarium was clean. But there were only a handful of exhibits. We were through the aquarium within 45 minutes and we noticed that the other guests who went in during our time slot were also out at the same time as we were as well. I am stating this as we thought maybe we rushed through, even though we were trying to stretch out our time at each exhibit as much as we possibly could! This was the smallest aquarium we have ever visited! We were unfortunately very disappointed- not worth the money. The shark area was the most beautiful area, therefore, I am posting photos of this exhibit!
Buni M
It was a cute experience, geared mainly for kids. But we had a great time checking out all the cool fish and the stingrays and jelly fish
Travis Wader
I have heard several people express disappointment in our aquarium but let me say this: had you seen what and where this was a decade ago you would be in SHOCK at what it has grown into.
I am stoked for us to have this gem now. There's always time for it to grow larger and larger but I'm happy just to see it started at this level.
Brittany Betts
Loved it!
The virtual train is great, the visuals of the entrance and light show is beautiful, and I really enjoyed the touch tanks where you forget to pet the water animals.
Worth the money. Make sure you have on your walking shoes because it is a lot to see.
I loved the shark tanks, and the information that is shared by the staff. We went twice this year.
Geena
This is a really great aquarium! It's a bit small, but there are a lot of interactive exhibits. There was even a show with an African Gray Parrot named Rosie. There are a lot of things for kids to do during the walk through.
Theresa Rosselot
This was very fun for the adults and the children. Very relaxing atmosphere and very nice staff, again, accommodating our situation, with my sister being a wheelchair amputee. And we LOVED Tommy the Otter!!! Thx to the staff of the st louis aquarium. We appreciate ya 😉 …
Holly
It's very nice and the fish look great, but it's very small and overpriced. It took us under an hour to get through. We were pretty disappointed and my kids didn't believe me when I told them it was over. It's more like an attraction you'd see at the zoo like the monkey house.
Tracy Silliman
Had an absolutely amazing time! Loved the train ride and the sting rays and the sharks!! The staff was super friendly and informative!! Overall great experience!!
Elise G
Extremely fun to check out! Won't probably go again because it's really costly for what you get. Not very large but packs a fun punch!
Matt Fowler
Awesome aquarium! Alot of hands on displays for the kids! My only complaint would be that for the price of admission it seems a little small compared to other aquariums. But, still well worth checking out!
Gena Napier
We had so much fun here. Great for families with kids of all ages. Lots to see and do. Check out the mirror maze!
Anna Hulfachor
Definitely aimed at a much younger crowd than I anticipated. My 9, 10, and 14 yo children were not into much until we got to the touch tanks. They saved the day. We probably won't be back, there wasnt much to see, I feel like another trip is not necessary.
The "train ride" was kind of neat, hearing John Goodmans voice really took me back to my childhood for a few minutes.
The spitting fish were pretty neat.
I was really unimpressed with the narrow shark hall with the small windows. It caused unnecessary crowding as people tried to wait their turn to peep into a tiny window to see into a tank. My advice would be just keep going down the hall, there is a big wall where you can see into the same tank the windows look into. It's a much better view.
The touch tanks were fantastic! The fish all seemed eager to be touched. I've been to other aquariums where I can barely reach the fish to touch them, this is not the case here. They had sea stars, anemones, and sea urchins too along with rays and a couple other fish.
Overall I feel like if you have children under 8 they will love this place but older children may not be interested. It was worth going once for us, even if the cost was a little high for what they have.
J Lehmkuhl
The staff was so friendly. The exhibits where wonderful for kids. They also have a sensory room for kids that are getting overwhelmed.
K J
I love the sea!!! This aquarium is smaller than most but very plentiful. The fact I was able to touch the sting rays and the great historical adventure when you 1st arrive was amazing. I will go back again to get the FULL effect!!
Cassie S
Very cute! It was smaller than I hoped but it was worth the cost of tickets (I paid $25 for an adult ticket and $18 for a child). We got to pet starfish, stingrays, sharks, and put our hands in a tank of doctor fish (Garra rufa) and they gently nibbled on our hands! We also got to go "behind the scenes" of the shark tank. There were other aquariums set up as a "look but don't touch" exhibit.
All in all, even though it was small it was well worth the time and money.
Tina Barnes
Not a bad aquarium. It is $25 for adults and $18 kids.
They have piranhas, sharks, turtles, stingrays, star fish, jelly fish. All kinds of stuff. They also have a pretty cool interactive area, where you can touch stingrays and other types of stuff.
I would have to say that overall, it wasn't bad. It went by a little faster than I would have hoped, but still not bad. The interactive portion made it more worth it.
B Less2Love
Fantastic! I love the details put into the aquarium. What a way to start you STL Aquarium adventure-John Goodman's voice!

JULY 31, 2022 UPDATE!
WOW..What a difference two years can make! Our visit today felt like an incredibly different aquarium. Starting off with the "train ride" was so cool, and gave a great glimpse into StL history. The aquarium has indeed evolved throughout the pandemic, and had so many more interactions and activities--WE LOVED IT! Oddly, the ropes course was not available to our now 12 year old, as new regulations state a child has to be 13 unless they have an adult accompaniment. 🤷♀️
Overall, we are so glad we renewed out membership and visited again today, two years later. I'm so grateful for the amount of environmental education offered! Take heed to the important environmental pieces! Photos attached.
***********
It was just OK-not awful, not wonderful. Having said that, I honestly don't think it is worth the price of admission. I've been to other aquariums that really had a "wow factor" but this one didn't deliver.
The ropes course/climbing was great for $15. The mirror maze wasn't a maze at all, and was offensively overpriced. We ate at the Train Shed. The Margherita pizza, my all time favorite, was tasteless.
We bought a membership for the aquarium because it was actually cheaper to do so, and we've been twice-but our 10 year old daughter only wants to go for the climbing and is already bored with the aquarium itself.
The aquarium is new, and I hope to see it grow. For someone who has never been to an aquarium, this is a wonderful starting point! I hope it is successful and I hope it grows and improves with time.
Bill Morillo
Super cool! They do a great job at using technology to enhance the overall experience. The environments they have created for the animals there are really great!
They have touch exhibits, the staff there are really passionate and knowledgeable about the animals.
Overall a beautiful place. Well done bringing the Union Station gem back to life!
Oh and season passes are well priced.
Jay Wofford
Great family fun! Loved that they have incorporated the history of the train station into the aquarium. Lots of informative and interactive displays. (Try the doctor fish exhibit).
Lisa Webb
Well worth the combination package price. The aquarium was great, enjoyed the Ferris wheel, and Carousel, had fun at mini golf, mirror maze not my cup of tea but not bad. And we fed the fish in koi pond for fun.
K1ll Kyle
They did a good job with the small space they were given. Lots of things for kids to do. Would love to see more being taught about sustainable fishing, keeping plastics out of the water and conservation though.
Andrew Hester
Nice aquarium. A little pricey for what they have there and for the amount of time you spend there. Tickets should be a little cheaper.
My Vo
All the creatures were very cool and pretty but it was a lot shorter and smaller than we anticipated. It was still really enjoyable and it was very cool to touch the stingrays! Also important to note: it got very busy and really crowded.
TJ White
Celebrated my sister's birthday here with my son, brother, and his 2 daughters. This place was absolutely phenomenal and so much to do and see!
Talon P.S. & Tarian P.S.
Small but fun.
And when I say small I mean this is probably one of the smallest (by square foot) aquariums I've ever visited. Yet unlike larger aquariums like Atlanta this one has roomy pathways so even those using walkers, wheelchairs or electric chairs can get around with ease. Displays have wide windows so you're never caught in a bottleneck to get in or out, or blocked by other visitors also wanting to see. There is room for everyone.
There are several touch tanks, and while some people scoff at their existence, I enjoy them. Staff are there to moderate husbandry and answer questions about the critters.
The main exhibit tank is a little disappointing. No corals or plant life, and not enough surface features to provide habitat for the fish. It's bland. I hope there are plans in the near future to do more with it.
My one major gripe is the koi pond. I love koi and have koi of my own, so it was a joy to see so many colors and patterns in the entry pond. But the filtration needs to be increased immensely due to the feeding. So many of the fish have major ulcers due to poor water conditions and that was sad to see. It's alarming to go to an aquarium and find they're not putting fish health first. In these days that's just not acceptable.
All in all it's a nice pairing after a visit to the Gateway Arch.
Karoly Halvachs
Virtual train was great. So was the staff for the touch tank. It may be new and small still but the staff are knowledgable and friendly. And it will continue to grow if they keep up the great work.
Britney
Great place to take the kids, they have a lot if interactive experiences. They also have sensory friendly bathrooms and spots for those that get sensory overload to stop and rest.
Amarra Quinette
My kids and I really enjoyed this aquarium, it was a lot of attraction they even had games and miniature golf. Beautiful fish and animals we definitely advise you to make this a family trip one summer!!
Javoney Fleming
Had a nice time at the aquarium too! Can't take photos inside of the aquarium where the fish are! Well you can't use a flash
Katie Beardslee
It is a small aquarium but several interactive exhibits that make it well worth it. The animal keepers will give you all kinds of facts on the animals/fish they are presenting. The touch tanks were really neat and we got to feed a couple different things. Check the schedule ahead of time for feeding times to get the most out of your visit. You can also get your parking validated so it only cost $5 to park. They have combo tickets that make it slightly cheaper if you want to ride The Wheel. They had scheduled entry time, so we only had to wait about 10 minutes to enter.
Mary Savedbyhisgrace Wright
I'm going back. This place is amazing. We'll worth it educational and entertaining. So much to do and see here..
Paula Chau
Aquarium is located in the old train station. Really cool and interactive experience. I would plan to spend 1-2 hours here, not a full day adventure like the zoo!
Times Theory
Very cool experience and great for the kiddos! Personally it was a one and done experience for me, but my daughter really digs it every time we go. There are interactive spots as well as a few areas where you can pay for additional activities (mirror maze, ferris wheel etc) The food spots help make it a really eventful day without ever really having to leave!
Kurt Willer
Compared to the Shedd in Chicago or Ripley's in Tennessee it is fairly limited and mostly aimed at children. Some good exhibits, many of them interactive. The facility is arranged in a linear path. Expext to spend about 2-3 hours here. Bring your parking ticket with you to get a discount on the hourly rate. Tickets are timed so buy ahead. If you have smaller children and want a 1/2 day experience it is worth it.
Day June
Absolutely LOVE the aquarium. I have a member pass (highly recommend) and love going on slower days (Monday, Tuesday) to really get a nice experience. The animal education shows are super fun. Also if you have a pass you can get a tour behind the scenes of the giant tanks with sharks in them. It was really really cool. If you are there when they are doing a diving show make sure not to miss it!
They also have quiet spaces/ rooms for people with sensory issues or breastfeeding people. The rooms are really nice and not just a empty box either. It’s clear they put thought and care into the space.
Update:
I went back on a busier day and wanted to come back to this review. Going here on a busy day is much less of an fun experience. People are not very mindful of the way they take up space and the halls don’t allow for passing folks easily - especially if it’s a large family. Seeing things is much more rushed Overall it just feels like someone is in your space constantly.
I still believe it’s a great experience because of the things you CAN see but sometimes it’s less accessible than others.
Highly recommend this place on a slow day/time but I might skip it if it’s too busy.
Tasha Street
This was something to pass the time while it rained. Wasn't impressed. Literally took less than an hour and half. And was so crowded and made you feel rushed.
Janna Love
This place is totally worth stopping through or regularly going with the kiddos. The virtual train ride will have the children believing they’re riding into the ocean. All the hands on experiences are incredible for little ones. We got a little overwhelmed and overstimulated during a crowd so we made sure to come during the week for subsequent visits. There are a lot of screens/light shows or visuals; which, could be overstimulating for some. Blue light glasses are probably a good item to pack.
My son’s favorites rn are the Mississippi River water table, touching the Jellies, Stingrays and baby sharks. They were so friendly and it’s safe (read on website)! There’s oceanic learning and activities all throughout the aquarium as well as an official learning center. Within walking distance, are other carnival-esque activities. Great photos of STL as a background can be taken from the ginormous Ferris wheel. Validate your parking at the Information desk so it’s only $5 instead of $15+.
Michaelah Stamer
The train conductor was amazing and very energetic! Everyone was so informative! Great place to take kids and they even have a kids area. Koi fish pond was also very cool!
Lucas Brandt
Another great aquarium in the Midwest! I highly recommend visiting.
The collection of fish and other animals isn't the most impressive in comparison to something like the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, but there are plenty of beautiful tanks and exhibits to enjoy for a couple hours!
They also have done a great job with the programming at the aquarium - there were a lot of staff there and fun interactive experiences. My favorite was watching the Archer Fish feed by spitting water out of their tank to knock food down - just like their natural behavior in the wild hunting bugs.
You'll have a good time here if you enjoy other aquariums, and it's definitely a great one for kids.
Tim Gerstmyer
This was really nice if you have grade school kids. Not over the top, but a lot of touch-tanks and interactive displays. 4 stars only because my kids are older and not entertaining for them.
Jessica Garcia
Great staff , educational , hands on experiences at no extra costs. However it gets pretty crowded no matter when you go; which can make for an unpleasant experience since common courtesy seems to go out the window with large crowds. They should consider separating the crowd into two, that way one can start at the back end and the other at the front. I think that would make the experience more enjoyable
Sharon P.M.
A great place to visit; lots of fun for all ages. Very friendly and helpful staff. I really like how everything is very clean. All the activities are worth doing. I enjoyed the interactive aquarium. My boys currently 8, 12, and 15 really had lots of fun. We are definitely coming back with my nephews. I highly recommend!
Hilary Hex
The aquarium was very well kept and maintained. The tanks they did have seemed to have a lot of space for the creatures, and the interactive tanks were a lot of fun. Mostly I feel like it was far to expensive. We spent an hour there and it was $25 per adult, and $5 for our parking.
The staff were doing an excellent job and the idea was there, just oh boy did it really feel like they were taking us for all we had. We had to turn down all the other neat activities they had to offer because it was so expensive.
Sean Vesey
Lovely aquarium well worth a visit, very informative with friendly staff sharing their knowledge at the different exhibits.
Cote Brillant
I had a really good time with my daughter. We took time to read everything and learn as much as we could and enjoy the time for the price that was paid. Also, we tried to enjoy all the activities. We didn't get a chance to do the zipline. Maybe next time
Cody Simmons
Fun place to go! Took about an hour to get through the aquarium. They had some awesome animals there! Just wish there was a little more room for people to stand near the shark tanks but that's not there fault more the building design of union Station. But for the price the kids and adults all love it!
Doug Ernst
This place was so fun. My girlfriend brought me here for my birthday. I can't wait to come back and bring the kiddos.
Laura Luwho
We got a family pass we loved it so much! They have awesome interactive exhibits for children and it is beautifully designed. The train ride at the beginning is one of my son's favorite parts.
Karis Haygood
Fun experience for all ages! I recently visited the aquarium while staying at the Union Station hotel and it was a fun interactive experience. You are able to participate in hands on exhibits which really enhanced the whole experience! I would definitely visit again if I were in town!
Andrea N
Small but very nice, I got to touch jelly fish, sting rays, sharks, starfish and more!
Lou B. (Lily)
I absolutely love it at the St. Louis Aquarium! My love for marine life has brought me here a few of times, one of which for their High School Shadow Program which gives you a behind the scenes look at how the aquarium runs. They have multiple touch tanks and many wonderful staff that are more than happy to answer your questions. They also have a cute kids area inside the aquarium which allows hands on learning. It's a really cool experience that I think everyone should enjoy!
Rebecca Lanter
Beautiful and interactive destination, definitely in my top three aquariums visited. We really enjoyed all the touch/petting tanks, it's a magical experience to be hugged by a sea urchin! There are plenty of other super cool displays that kids and adults will love, and the critters were active and healthy. Highly recommend!
Jake White (TheFiddler12)
Great staff! Each exhibit area had staff waiting to answer questions and let everyone interact with the animals. The most interactive zoo/aquarium I've ever been to. The kids and us adults all enjoyed every part of the aquarium. My only complaint is that there wasn't more to see.
James Doan
Absolutely amazing, beautiful, awesome! Really nice place with really helpful and educated people. I highly recommend it to anyone. Great selection of animals and lots of touching the animals.
Rebecca McCoy
Fantastic aquarium! It has lots of activities for children and beautiful exhibits for all ages. They have a moon jellyfish touch tank, which I loved. Shout out to the employee, Heather! Heather is extremely friendly and informative. They made my visit extra special by connecting with my friends and I over our shared interest in biology. Heather clearly loves their job and puts 110% into customer service! Please give Heather a raise 👍
Pearl Sherman
Me and my girlfriend went and it was tons of fun! We saw a bunch of cute fish and got to pet some stingrays! Would recommend!
Ashley Martin
The experience overall was nice for the kids. I liked that they had more than a few hands on stations for the kids which definitely kept the little ones engaged and entertained. It was a lot more crowded than expected. For best value purchase the bundle because once the kids get in and see everything g they want to do it. The Soda Fountain restaurant next door has an hour wait which cut our visit but the kids enjoyed themselves. Nice family outing. They are on a time schedule so if you are more than 30 mins late you will have to see the desk. BE ON TIME
Tiff Shea
Our family thought this was a great addition to St. Louis! We loved all the interaction with the fish and other water creatures. Even after visiting the Wonders of Life in Branson earlier this year this was still different and fun along with all the other entertaining things to do now at Union Station!
Amberle Vricella
Some parts were a little dark and scary for our 3 year old, but overall a fun activity. Lots of animals to get up close and personal with also.
Sarah Polnow
Short but sweet Aquarium! Loved how interactive it is, not only for kids but adults as well. We spent about an hour here, I had such a good time!
Matthew Hargrove
Had a great time. It's excellent for kids they will love the experience and will really enjoy the touch pool with the sharks and sting rays
LeaAnn Grimshaw
It's geared towards children and has lots of hands-on experiences. There are lots of variations to the exhibits. I'd guess the average stay is about 2 hours.
J M
The Aquarium was fun and interesting and I / we really liked the hands on experiences like touching the Jellyfish and the Stingrays and even got to go behind the scenes in the Big Shark tank with a private tour. Staff was friendly and informative, very gracious.
But the Ferris wheel was an unfortunate ,unnecessary damper on our experience. The day 12/14/22 was overcast and cool however there was a turn in weather to blustery winds ,
,cold and rainy. There was only ourselves (2) in line and another couple in a gondola . We were not allowed to seek shelter under the canopy as we waiting to board. The staff present were rude, inconsiderate and short with us. Another couple eventually joined us in line and were subjected to the same inconsiderate treatment.
I suppose we could and should have aborted this excursion, but since tickets were already paid, and my wife was treating me for a Christmas gift, we persevered.
Or maybe the attendant could have expedited our boarding, in the spirit of the season.
We felt this put a real damper on the day , only to have it further spoiled as we both caught a chill and my wife is significantly uncomfortable with a head and chest cold.
This is an extremely poor way to present as a tourist point of interest.Since the staff does not have decent customer skills, perhaps some training would be in order.
This was very disappointing,!

This aquarium was lots of fun. They had a lot of different exhibits as well as multiple hands on. First place I've been able to pet a shark! They're doing a good job of cleaning and keeping their patrol as safe as possible. The location in Union Square makes it a great place to fill your day with things to do.
Ana S (blastkat)
My grandchildren would love this aquarium. The exhibits are interesting. However, what makes this truly worth the visit are the interactive tanks. You not only learn about the wildlife but also have the opportunity to touch them. We'll definitely have to make reservations for another visit.
Paige Ross
This is probably THE BEST aquarium I have ever been to. You can take the metro to Union and it's *right there*. The beginning of the tour is fun and really sets the tone for the rest of your visit. The interactivity never ends and is so much fun. All of the employees and volunteers truly care about this place and want you to learn and enjoy as much as you can while you're here. They encourage you to turn back before going to the gift shop and making sure you get as much as you possibly can out of your visit. If you can, please visit the aquarium if you're visiting St Louis!!! I'll definitely be back :)
Jeni Weidenbenner
It was great to see Union Station recommissioned as an aquarium. The setting is well thought out and the staff have spaced out people to lessen congestion and observe social distancing. Once inside, people don't always observe the guidelines, but it's mostly acceptable. There are a lot of engaging displays for all ages. The touch pools are especially exciting! Overall, it's worth the time and money, and I'll definitely visit again.
Julie L
Very nice, really improved the area inside and out. Was hoping to see coconut the sloth but asked at the end and they said he only comes out once in a while, my daughter was disappointed. They also could let you know when you go through the shark cavern you end up at the exit.
Andrew Kassel
Nicely done, but a little expensive for the size. The rays are fun. The big tank is cool. Crowded. Tons of little kids while we were there.
Alisa Green
We had an excellent time! Great variety of small petting pools, loved the virtual train ride and shark cove. The kids chose to do the air obsticle course. For two kids over 13 was $30. They enjoyed it so much I had a hard time getting them to leave.
We rode the ferris wheel. I dont recconend this experience on hot days. It was a sauna. But a great way to see the st. Louis sky line. Even if those tickets cost $35.
A very large koi pond. Feeding is pretty hard. Must have some quarters or some dollars. But the machines were very hard to get any pellets out. Maybe thats so the fish don't eat to much though.
We just really enjoyed the hands on parts. Touch star fish, and other small squishy fish.
Parking was easy to get to, and it only cost 5 dollars if you got your ticket stamped inside.
Justin Baughman
We enjoyed the aquarium. It wasn't the biggest or best, but it was great for the space. It was very cool that it was inside the old train station. It had some fun exhibits that our daughter loved. They had a lot of interactive things for kids. It was cool to touch the stingrays, the dr. fish, and the touch pool animals. They had a kids area to make shark hats before entering the shark canyon. They had a fun boats and rivers play area our daughter loved. Overall it was a very fun experience.
Cody Mile
This was a lot of fun for my wife and I. It was only $25 a ticket and allows you to walk around fully immerse yourself in an underwater experience. I really enjoyed the area where you can touch the fish gently. My one criticism is I wish the viewing gallery for the large oceanic display was a little bigger. With that said, it was a good afternoon.
Shyla Roe
I would say the aquarium is very nice. It is kind of small and I think it’s a little expensive family with three adults and one child was $95
Ashley Lynch
We went despite some of the reviews we saw. We had a great time. I'm from Chicago so it's hard to live up to the size of Shedd, however while this aquarium is small I loved the hands on approach to some of the stuff you can see. The little video show on the ceiling is adorable and definitely will catch little one's attention. We also enjoyed the mini golf and ferris wheel. The soda fountains milkshakes were also cool but pricey.
Shelby Kohler
Such a great experience! Nice and knowledgeable staff as well as a variety of animals and exhibits.
Howard Gunning
Fun place. Restaurants understaffed with longer wait times. Staff friendly and helpful.
Erin Welch
What a great aquarium! We've touched stingrays before, but here we got to FEED one! There are more touch pools here than many aquariums, including moon jellies and the coolest little fish that nibble dead skin from your hands--it sounds bizarre but is really cool. All of the employees are wonderfully friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit!
Sterling
Enjoyed my first time coming here. Spent 3 hours looking at creatures I love! Touching some species of rays, which my lady loved isn't something you get to do often. The octopus & jellies were wonderful also. Took a little behind the scenes tour at Shark Canyon. Pretty cool, will be back in the future.
Mike L.
Truly a gorgeous place. And the attention to detail was outstanding. There is something there for everyone. Kids have a play area, parents get to see some cool creatures. This is an awesome family experience. Just make sure you bring your pocketbook. It is a bit pricey.
Gabriel Towery
This place has a nice charm to it.
I appreciate the level of care for the animals,
I really loved how interactive everything is.
Proof that good things can come even in limited quantity.
This place is not big, but you can really experience, learn and interact with much of the sea life! It's worth a stop!
Audi McAvoy
Entrance fee was a little high, but it is a nice facility. All of the staff were super friendly and answered all our questions. The immersive video/train ride at the beginning was fun. And, it's a hands on experience. Several of the exhibits allow you to gently touch the animals!
Haley Conrad
Super fun, if a little pricey. Interactive and fun for all ages! I loved the jellyfish and my 2 year old niece loved the river and the sand tray. The Ferris wheel is a must, with a great view of the city and a partial view of the arch.
Crystal Burns
The atmosphere was kind of cool. Love the St. Louis old town vibe. The aquarium wasn't worth what we paid. It was pretty small. Hardly a variety of animals. You can go through it in like 35 minutes or so. The fairs wheel was pretty neat, it has air control. The only bad thing I can say about it is the waitress at the restaurant. We ate at the Train Shed and she started out nice but ended up getting an attitude because we wanted her to split our checks up. She brought us one big check when we were ordering for two families. She more or less yelled at us for not telling her to split the checks before she brought it to us. She hardly came to our table after the food was brought. Then popped up with the check. Its something to do if you're bored.
T.J. Cash
The St. Louis Aquarium was a pleasant experience. It's not as large as other aquariums I have been to but it does offer several interactive locations. They have a few touch tanks where you get the chance to touch some of the aquatic animals. They also have scheduled feeding times to give you the opportunity to see the animals eat and learn a bit about them. They also have a rotating crew of ambassador animals that give you yet another leaning opportunity. The place is definitely worth the visit and take the time to enjoy the educational experience as well.
Natalie Smith
This aquarium is really beautiful. The lighting and the TVs show a lot of sea creatures when you're walking along a hallways. The entire place is around a large water container filled with all sorts of sharks, fish, & turtles. The upstairs is Fantastic For children however they did not have an octopus. Overall I'd give it a good rating
Mark Williams
This is a must see destination in St. Louis. We made a a date out of this attraction along with the other attractions at Union Station. To see all the everything at the aquarium takes about an hour and includes a number of interactive exhibits.
Benjamin Schwantes
Fairly average aquarium. Typical selection of fish and animals. A few touch tanks and children's activities. The shark tank/reef is well done. Well laid out facility. They have attempted to tie the aquarium in to broader St. Louis themes. Perhaps I'm just a little jaded since I've visited some of the best aquariums in the U.S. Worth a visit if you have extra time and money and need to keep kids occupied for a couple hours. St. Louis has so many free or inexpensive attractions, however, that I would put the aquarium at the bottom of my list of things to do.
Hill Demand Respect
I reserved my appointment and purchased my ticket online. Due to unforseen circumstances I arrived late, however, they graciously accommodated me. Thank you St. Louis Aquarium! Once I began my tour, it was nice but I expected much more. I've to the Aquarium in Atlanta Georgia as well as a few other places. I've seen places that not only have the aquarium seen in the walls, above our heads, and under our feet as we walk throughout the tour. This wasn't the case at the St. Louis Aquarium. But it had some nice things to see. I included a few pictures so you can see for yourself.
Dave Wineberg
I highly recommend this experience! We took our 7 year old here. It was a very interactive and made even better by Erik! My daughter followed him around the Shark & Ray touch pool, tidepool and turtle feed. She asked him so many questions about the different creatures. He was very knowledgeable and able to point out and let her touch everything pictured.
C P
The people were extremely friendly and helpful, there are alot of interactive displays for children. The train ride in the beginning was fun and informative. We really enjoyed our time there but the price was a bit steep for the amount of things to see.
Lisa Marie Michaelis
I can't wait to go back !! Taking my grandsons next . Longtime lovers of Sharks and all Aquatic creatures my son and I had an amazing time . The show before you even get in is amazing. So many beautiful species of fish . Both fresh and salt water. The otters ,turtles ,frogs . The touch pools amazing!! The otter that is interactive with children well done !! So many children's activities we didn't do but will with the grandchildren. But the viewing of the sharks ,fish ,sea turtles. Stunning .I'm so happy we have this in STL now !! If you haven't been definitely check it out !! There are some other neat activities there also. Mini golf ,Carousel, Ferris wheel and more
Jessica Renn
It was very nice! Loved the interactive experinces! A little shorter than other aquariums we have visited in the state. Got a little pricey to do all the extras since you had to buy tickets for each attraction you add on. Overall very good experience!
CompletelyLost Cosplay
The educational instructors are concise and kind, and taught us all about every critter you could touch. They also taught us about the injured and healed up sea turtles in their care. The tanks and enclosures were clean, properly kept, and large enough for the animals exhibited to have plenty of space for exercise and enrichment. They made sure all of the staff knew my service dog and I were coming through the exhibits, so that my dog would be the absolute safest while she cared for me. Everything was clean and spread out, making sure to keep everyone safe during Covid. The restrooms were clean as well, lending for a safe and lovely experience. My two companions had a wonderful time as well. Our first time visit went incredibly well.
Mary Condit
We did the back of house tour, and it was absolutely amazing. Brian was our guide and he was informative, friendly, and let us take our time! The aquarium is so well done and the staff care so much about the animals. Lots to interact with, great for adults and kids.
shari blanner
The employees here are awesome! My son went on his 1st date with his Girlfriend there and decided that it was the perfect place to pull off a surprise engagement. The staff was so helpful with us coordinating when and where they were at so we could pull of the surprise! Thank you all so much!! Memories for life!
Nicole Roper
We had an amazing outing at the St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station! It was nice giving Our oldest daughter a day to herself— since our baby was born we try once a month to devote to her alone. But she even thought of her little sissy while at Build A Bear! Big softie! For $35 we spent almost 6 hrs at Union Station visiting the aquarium itself, riding the huge Ferris wheel from the 1904 worlds fair, carousel, mini golf and mirror maze. We all agreed this is a 10/10, definitely a must visit place in St. Louis!
Lucas Montaigne
The aquarium was so. Much. Fun. We finally got our first chance to go check it out, and it's such a better use of Union Station than it was as a mall! Took us about 2 hours to go through the whole thing. Our 2 and a half year old absolutely LOVED it. She loved the touch ponds, got to feed a turtle, and loved seeing the otters eat! We had such a good time and are so excited to go back!
Ty Howard
First time visiting and will be back. Fun and relaxing family experience. Kinda pricey but ok.
Dan Story
Maybe a little pricey for the length, but was very cool and well designed.
Got to touch an animal, so all in all successful
Isabella Schepisi
lots to do and see at and around the aquarium! highly recommend for kids and adults
Stephy P
This place is ENORMOUS and has a beautiful array of marine life. I visited while on job training and was super impressed, loved the virtual otter interaction! The touch tank was interesting as well. Outside of the aquarium there is a massive pond with hundreds of koi fish that you can buy fish pellets for (they went nuts). Will definitely return when I'm back in Missouri.
Heather Foxx
We had a great time at the St. Louis Aquarium. We enjoyed touching the stingrays as well as being able to see sharks swimming above us. We further enjoyed ourselves outside on the rides and playing games where I won llamas which happens to be my favorite animal. I'm sorry we missed out on the band that was preparing to play later.
Kelly Tabolt
We recently started homeschooling and have been looking for alternative things to do. I found the homeschooling class the aquarium recently started offering and am so happy we gave it a try. We’ve never been to this aquarium so it was nice to get there and have it be a time of education but fun meeting other homeschoolers.
My kids have some special needs (the now offer a sensory homeschool day as well!) and they provided them with sensory bags to have in class as well. They loved the experience!
The staff were all extremely helpful and courteous as well. The person in charge of the education program went out of his way to make my kids (and me) feel comfortable being there. Great program! And great time!
Ramon Allred
Very beautifully made and very new, the staff is very friendly and answered all our questions. The sting ray little pool was very cool, as it was the one where the fish eat your hands' dead skin. The kids area was very cool too, our kids loved it.
Sarah Shen
The aquarium is quite small, the mirror maze is overpriced and scary for the kids. BUT we love the rope courses (both the big one and tiny kids one) here!!
Amber Qualls
My kids and I really enjoyed this. Tanks are full of things that you wouldn't normally see. I was amazed by the jellyfish and being able to touch the stingrays and starfish was pretty cool as well!
Nathan Kowalski
Once you get past the cringy entrance presentation it is not a bad aquarium. It's small compared to most, with fewer exhibition tanks than some comparable aquariums, but it makes up for it with more hands-on exhibits than you find elsewhere. That is what made it memorable for us. Slightly overpriced for the quality and size, but makes for an enjoyable couple hours down town.
Angelique T
It was pretty cool. My 6 year old enjoyed it. They could add a few more exhibits. She liked the area with the Dr fish who eat the dead skin off your hands(eww) the staff seemed really enthusiastic about everything and the season passes gave us a discount on the train shed restaurant. Our food was tasty, fresh and hot. Our waitress was very nice.
Raecheal.willman2021 Willman
Beautiful attractions.
Absolutely delicious food at the train shed.
Short wait times for all activities.
Amazing sea creatures and habitats.
Knowledgeable, fun, and interactive employees.
Exciting surprises.
Brittany Harvey
This was fun date for my husband and I. UPDATE: My husband and I loved it so much we took the kids and it was just as beautiful and exciting! There was something for everyone..my entire family spent waaaayy too much time in the interactive sand lol but this my new favorite place! So glad I can share this childhood experience with my kids!!!!
Michelle W
I enjoyed what I saw but was really disappointed with how little there was to see.
The hands-on area for touching the sting rays and other areas is awesome, but as an aquarium, there were not many areas to see for fish. The price was $25 and there was about 1/4 to see compared to other aquariums such as the one in Springfield and Branson. I don't think it was worth the purchase price.
Chicago Cameraslinger
This aquarium saved my entire vacation.
Interactive and immersive at every step.
The shark cove was my favorite!
Joe O'Kelly
I really enjoyed our time here. This is very interactive with the children. It wasn't very big, but well laid out. The handlers were very informative. I thought for the size it was a little pricey, but I am cheap. I will probably go back sometime.
cheryl gozzi
The aquarium is small compared to other big cities, like chicago, but the tanks are beautifully kept and there is a lot of interactive experiences. For families with sensitive kids, possibly sensory processing or autistic, some of the transitions might be hard. My son had a difficult time in the shark exhibit. Nothing is posited about the lights, music or loud sounds (the zoo on the other and does a FANTASTIC job with this)!overall it’s a good way to kill and hour or two.
LaMar Peterson
The aquarium was a fun and neat adventure for the entire family. Being able to see all the different types of sea wildlife was interesting. My kids favorite part was being able to touch sting rays and sharks. The time spent there was about an hour and a half to see all the exhibit exhibits. The only issue is that no one was social distancing. Being in close quarters with the amount of people who were there made it difficult. Union Station as a whole was enjoyable too. Having other activities, food, and a place just to soak in the scenery all in one spot was convenient. My family spent the afternoon and evening all there and time just flew by. If you are visiting St. Louis this is a place that is worth the time and money you spend.
Craig Traverson
The intro faux train ride was enjoyable and I believe kids would like it. The aquarium has some interesting displays and creatures to be seen, especially the sharks. The price seemed high for the size though.
Elijah Brimer
Took my family of four, we had a great time. Would give it 5 stars, but I thought it would be a little bigger, but overall very entertaining and great family place. $15 per adult to ride the Ferris Wheel next to Union Station, got some cool pictures of the city.
Jerelyn Victoria
The aquarium is smaller than many I’ve visited but it’s incredibly interactive! I enjoyed touch jellyfish and sting rays as well as seeing the variety of aquatic life they had there! It’s the only aquarium I’ve visited that lets you touch jellyfish and that alone is worth a visit back!
Marie
I am so glad that we finally have an aquarium in STL. I thought it was a really cool aquarium - definitely a great place to bring kids. The touch tanks here have more to offer than the zoo. Union Station as a whole is really neat now.
Dasha Phelps
We had a blast!! Our Girl Scouts were so excited to visit, The kids loved all the activities upstairs!
The only downside is, the Live Otter show needs to be sensitive to their young special needs guests. Otherwise, we will definitely be visiting again to check out the other attractions in Union Station!! 😊
Brandi Tucker
Holy cow! AMAZING experience for my golden birthday! Everything ran so smoothly despite covid restrictions. We accidentally purchased late tickets online and they exchanged them for an earlier time no questions asked. The stingrays are so friendly, definitely go see them!
Denilson Mendez
An amazing and very interactive aquarium! I would recommend this aquarium to anyone. A big pro is that it is located at Union Station with several other places to check out all in one spot, that makes it perfect for any age group and group size.
Danielle Santiago
Love this place! If you are ever in the STL area this is a perfect stop for the family. The staff were extremely informative and made it fun for all ages. Prices are reasonably priced, everything was clean. I am looking forward to the next visit.
David Mueller
Staff were very kind and helpful. The aquarium has a lot of interactive sections which were very neat. In relation to some other aquariums, it is on the smaller side, though the unique exhibits helped to make the experience very fun.
Colby Phillips
Stayed at the Union station hotel so decided to check out the aquarium. It was clean, and not too busy when we went. However, the whole aquarium itself is very small. It’s definitely geared towards children too. Great place to take your kids, I would pass on it for adults.
Brooke Lynne
They did such a fantastic job! Its so beautiful and the kiddos loved it! From the time you walk in to the time you walk out its amazing. They have a huge variety of underwater animals! Including otters! Our favorite was the string rays and sharks!
Chad Brauss
So many interactive activities. More then I expected. I ended up buying an annual pass since it was such a cool place.
V W
Beautiful setup, well maintained, and friendly staff.
The interactive exhibits are fun, well planned and thoughtful for the animals.
I had stingrays rubbing my hand like a cat. It was amazing!
Aaron Barbee (A-A-Ron)
Assuming you like interactive fun, this is a good place to go. I couldn't even tell you how many 'critters' I got to touch during our visit, but it was a blast. I assumed it was all just 'look and see', so I was very pleasantly surprised to find out that this was more of an immersive experience. Lots of things for kids, too. I can see opportunities for other viewing options or places where more information/exhibits could be placed, but I've only visited during a pandemic, so maybe things are limited right now.
Rachel Trent
First time my kids and I visited an aquarium and it was pretty neat. We loved petting the stingrays, horseshoe crab and a small shark!! They also had like a jungle gym area above where you could walk on the ropes and had a zip line. Outside was a ferris wheel and you could feed koi fish. I recommend going there too!
Rachel Floyd
I won't give it a 5 only because the website made it seem like the aquarium was much larger than it was, we got through it all pretty quick, so turned around and went back to the water table for the kids to play for a little. Cute place but we won't be going back, it was a 4 hour drive & we expected there to be more.
Jeff Barnhill
The entire family had a great time. My boys are growing up and soon won't want to do these things with me. So take your children and enjoy there lives..
ishwor marahatta
St. Louis Aquarium at Union station is definitely of its kind. The concept of the aquarium is beautiful. They have a spectacular infrastructure outside as well. It looks like it has completed its construction. The parking and ticket fee is a little expensive. The first step of the aquarium has a motion automated train which is a great concept. They have few aquatic animals which you can touch and feel it. Doctor fish gathering a huge crowd. They also include 5 min show on your ticket. You miss the 4D theater experience other aquariums offer around the country. I think they need to have at least a few 4D shows. It is good for one time visit.
Connie Crane
I've been to better aquariums it was nice but some exhibit were empty or not done. kids would like it
Neal Haegele
Lots of fun. Great for kids and adults
Thomas Ison
The place was just ok. It was small and didn't have a lot. I've been to much bigger and more impressive aquariums for the price they charged. They focus more on small interactive displays instead of large tanks full of fish. Was fun but probably wouldn't go again.
Whimsical Society
Was impressed with the displays they had available! Having been to Georgia Aquarium and other larger establishment s, I had low expectations at the start. However, they have lots of unique interactive exhibits for both young and old and I found myself smiling by he end!
Alexis Renfro
The aquarium was really nice, but if you just buy tickets for the aquarium only be prepared for a very short walk through.
There is a ropes obstacle course and some other things for additional fees.
There is something to eat near by and the scenery outside is beautiful.
Patricia Beidle
While it's not a large aquarium it certainly is a very nice one. It's interactive for the kids and adults. You can tell the employees enjoy working there because they are so good with the people visiting.
Rebecca Arvieux
We loved it! It was clean, the staff was friendly, the fish and animals looked well taken care of and any questions we had were answered with enthusiasm.
Taylor Leigh
Awesome experience! Super cool place to see, all the fish were beautiful. We loved the interactive parts. Kids would love this place! Staff was very friendly and polite.
Lincoln Glab
This was great!! The whole family loved it. It is not set up as a boring purely educational aquarium. It is fun, interactive and it kept all our kids, and our attention throughout. Highly recommend visiting.

Oh my gosh, this place is the bomb and well worth purchasing a year membership to. The membership pays for it self after 2 visits.
We go nearly every week now to see the animals and every visit we catch different photos and learn more about the animals that reside there.
This trip we saw the otters swimming and playing in the water after their meal, which was amazing to watch.
Plus they had the sloth out as one of their 30 minute exhibits. She was so adorable.
You come to saint louis, mo the aquarium is a most to have on your attractions to visit and experience.
Steve Alier
So much to do and see! I was a little intimidated by the price at first but after getting inside and watching all the amazing wildlife and activities I 100% recommend!
Jess Findlay
As a whole it is very geared towards children, adults will find some interesting things (touch tanks) to do and see but it is a short tour through, about 30 minutes to walk through the whole thing if it were empty. We enjoyed the touch tanks and seeing the sharks but wished it had a bit more to it, there are about 20 total tanks ranging from 2 ft by 2ft to your standard aquarium view. Some unique species like Octopus, otter, Blue lobster were neat to see. COVID puts a bit of a damper on things making it hard to free roam and really enjoy the exhibits so I place most of the blame there
Joey R.
Great aquarium with lots of friendly and knowledgeable staff. Lots of activities for kids of all ages, very accessible for people of all abilities. Kids love playing in the water and interacting with all of the different exhibits.
jessia90
Really cool! They had a ton of stuff to do. There was upgrades you could do. We got to put sting rays, little sharks, and they had cool sucker fish! Only reason I gave a 4 star instead of 5 is because it was quite expensive.
Ryan Knudsen
I thought it was great. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was ample staff for the low crowds when I went. Granted, it was a weekday at 2 o'clock during covid season. Not sure how full the place gets on weekends. I can see that the price is a little high for some people, especially if it was busy in there. But having the place eventually to ourselves made the experience worth the 25 dollar admission. Took about an hour and a half for us to get through.
Emmy Barnes
For a small aquarium that has just started up, the aquarium at union station is worth the price of admission. You could walk through and see everything within an hour, but we stayed for three hours and really enjoyed our visit. We particularly enjoyed the stingray touch pool, the live animal shows including the three-toed sloths who we stayed and watched for the duration of the time they were out, and the shark reef. We talked with the sloth handlers who gave a lovely presentation and answered all our questions, they were super friendly and educational. We also enjoyed seeing the behind the scenes area of the shark reef and they answered all the questions we had about the sharks and sea turtles. For us, it was worth the pricey admission for a one time visit. The animals all seemed really happy and well taken care of and this aquarium is AZA accredited.
Brian O'Shaughnessy
Really fun daytime activity with the family, Union station during the holidays was lively and festive.
Shandi Greve Penrod
Fun place to go with the family with some very neat exhibits. My family spent a leisurely hour and a half there. If it's adults only in your part you probably only need about 45 minutes. It got somewhat crowded even with their "very reduced capacity," so I'm not sure I would want to go mid-day during regular times. At this point in things, I wouldn't go back again. They enforced masks on but didn't enforce masks to be over noses or enforce social distancing even when it WAS possible. SO many people not doing those things. We enjoyed it, but we won't likely go again for several years. EXCEPT, the aquarium activities that were not even part of the paid exhibit (the virtual fish tank and the interactive and beautiful wetlands exhibit) were great and not at all crowded, so I would come back and do those again sometime.
Marci Rinehart
Wonderful aquarium! Lots of great displays and lots of hands on with the fish. You can pet sting rays, touch jellyfish and anemones. Very informative and fun! Will definitely return!
Tony Holt
Super pass all the way! Took my wife and 7 year old. The aquarium 🐠 was great! Had sharks 🦈, jelly fish, turtles 🐢, Sting Ray's, otters, and many other fun interactive attractions. Ropes course was awesome, Fire show 🔥, ferris-wheel 🎡, mirror maze, and more. …
Brian Link
Great place to come visit. Plan on spending around $6-10 for parking. Stingray experience was fantastic and enjoyed the view from the top of the Ferris Wheel. Did not do the ropes course but it looked like a safe and fun experience as well.
JessAnne Denning
All the workers were kind and doing their best to keep people (and animals!) safe. The aquarium itself was full of amazing technology, fun facts, and of course wonderful creatures of all kinds! My friend and I were very impressed and plan to return sometime!
INDIANA JONES
Kids had alot of fun. Got to touch and feed stingrays. That was fun. Wish the aquarium was longer and more fish / sharks. Was a fun day trip from Indiana.
Jessica Chavez-Smith
Oh man, the opening of this place was pretty awesome with the screens and colors! It took us a good 30 minutes to wall through the whole place, but I'm sure you could stay longer. The giant shark tank was really cool and all the fishes were pretty awesome! It was pretty busy so make sure to plan ahead of time when buying your tickets. Overall it was a great visit.
Ashley Wilkins
Awesome experience! They had so many different fish and other ocean animals there it was fun to be able to see them all. You could bet some smaller sharks and stingray as a part of your ticket as well as two floors of aquarium! We can’t wait to go back and try out some of the extras there as well
misty burks
Great place. Don't reserve the 3pm time if you plan on doing any attractions. There isn't enough time as they close at 5. It was a bit crowded but all in all well worth going.
Denise Randolph
Wonderful, intimate space with unusual fish. I appreciated how friendly everyone was. Many of the exhibits have an employee prest telling interesting facts and antidotes about the animals in the exhibit. Great learning place 👌 …
Cookie
STL Aquarium is an asset to the city. The BEST attraction hands down. Check out the website, buy the whole packages if you want to to more than the aquarium tour. Book in advance. They are wonderful at social distancing. The Wheel is amazing, the pods are climent controlled and sanitized between uses.
Amy Davis
I have always loved Union Station, now it is also an aquarium! We had lots of fun! It is shorter than larger city aquariums but it is still wish going.
Greg G
One of many things to do at the newly revamped Union Station. It's a small aquarium, but worth a trip to visit. The otters are the best thing to see, very active and just funny to watch. Exhibits are small but they did a great job maximizing each area. Tickets are required and also masks.
Josh Gibson
This is our first visit here. It was worth the time during our vacation in St. Louis to stop and explore. The kids loved it. There are several things to see, do, and learn about.
Margaret Eisenberger
Not really on a par with aquaria in Baltimore, NOLA, Monterey, Vancouver, Chicago BUT!! As a family outing for kids up to about 10, absolutely outshines those all. Both a 10 yr old and a nineteen month old were mesmerized by every tank and activity station to the point of having to be dragged away to the next, which promptly captivated them even more. Staff are excellent, we expect to be back regularly on our family pass.
Tony
This place is great. They are expensive, but they have amazing interactive exhibits. Watch the otterd play, touch a ray, feed a ray, touch a shark, or one of my favorite exhibits is the Doctor fish. Put your hand in the water and let the fish clean your hand. It's a shorter visit because of the size of the aquarium, but finish your day with mini golf, or a Ferris wheel ride. I recommend it.
Clayton Bulice
Absolutely fabulous! And being in Union Station means that when you are finished seeing the aquarium then you can get a bite to eat or enjoy other attractions. They have lots of animals that live in and near the water.
It is interesting that Landry's Seafood House is so close to the aquarium.
Brittany Beaver
This aquarium is very clean and well thought out. It’s on the smaller side but has a lot more interactive exhibits than some of the larger aquariums we’ve been to. We will be back!
zander ruffner
It was probably the best aquarium I have been to but the bad part about the aquarium is that it is short...yes you do get to touch sting-rays and sharks and other animals. I would recommend it to because it has a mirror maze and a balance rope course and activities for kids.
Rosalinda “Rosa” Molla
Our family had an amazing time here! The doctor fish and the stingray touch tank was the best! All of our kids were able to feed a stingray and their reactions were priceless. Their mirror maze was okay but very short. We will definitely be doing the ropes course next time because that looks like a blast. We also rode the ferris wheel which was a great end to our day.
Heather w
Union station is big enough for an all day trip, but the aquarium is not an 'all day' trip itself. We had a great time!
MeLynda Williams
My husband and I came here at my urging. He's not big on aquariums, but he walked away from here with a smile on his face.
All the interactive exhibits were fun and unique. Our fingers were nibbled on by fish, we got to pet and feed manta rays, see Rosie the African grey parrot.
There are several other things for kids to do. We plan on returning with our kids soon.
Robert Beckmann
Great experience! Loved seeing shark’s in St. Louis lol and the 7 ft long alligator gar was something out of the prehistoric era I also went to the seafood restaurant at the food court and had red snapper tasty 😋 …
Cord Blumenstock
Very cool place to burn some hours. Lots of activities for kids. Water table, stingray encounter, shrimp and starfish encounter, ropes course (extra) mirror maze (extra) a gift shop and cafe. It all looks amazing. It is a bit pricey for a large family. We will be returning, season passes available.
Shellie Yale
This place is so cool! Thank you for building us a rad aquarium st. Louis!! Takes about an hour to get through but seriously cool. Can't wait to watch this place grow. Just get tickets ONLINE before you go. They send in groups every 15 minutes to cut back on crowding. Love their system
Tami D.
Loved the aquarium!! The area was clean. We parked in the lot, it was expensive but close. The people that work there, for the most part, were so nice and enjoyed their jobs and made it a pleasant experience. Would love to go back one day
Jazmine A
The family finally went for an outing today. This was a great pick ! Superb aquarium, absolutely gorgeous. Our deal package included the ferris wheel ride. Plenty of restaurants are here as well.
Love it !
Lorez Williams
It was very friendly and a amazing atopmshere. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable at every station on each floor. Actually having an appointment allowed you to spend more time with staff and listen to amazing structural stories and true facts that you didn't know. Questions were answered no, matter how small or big. The social distancing was pratice and everyone had on mask 😷. The light show with the clock, the interaction with the animals, and the light up parking with several security as well as police present made you feel safe inside and out. I must say great job by staff. I even had problems with picking up my tickets in will call. But he was very fun, helpful and professional. He made it happened. I was impressed 👌. The price for parking was not expensive at all. I think every family should experience it. Also the guide at the shark tank, turtle tank, the fish that eat off your hands, and with the clock when you enter thank you....your awesome.
Nina Brown
This has been the best Aquarium I've been to!
Melissa Payne
Very much worth the entrance cost. So much hands on experiences. Hand washing stations after each exhibit. My kids had a blast. Will be visiting again.
Bridget Anderson
St. Louis Union Station is such an amazing place! Check out EVERY part of union station, not just the aquarium! Many things to do - aquarium, wheel, ropes course, carousel, light show, fire show, and delicious food at the restaurants there. Seeing such a variety of animals is so cool! The staff are experts and do a great job at educating guests. I bought a season pass because I plan on visiting Union Station frequently. Very accommodating and such a pleasant experience!
It’s worth it to buy a group membership for a discount, and to make it faster to get into the aquarium.
Hope Wills
Best time to go to the aquarium is now. What a neat place. It’s bigger and better than I thought it would be. Like I’m actually thinking of buying one of those yearly passes. It was educational, the people working there went out of their way to tell/teach you about the animals and where they came from. I can honestly say I can’t wait to go back.
Jamie Strusz
What a magnificent experience! Really hands on and delightful, and we (two adults) were totally surprised. We went to the large Monterey Bay Aquarium in November, but we both preferred St. Louis! Wonderful time.
Ny'Tia Patrice
Despite being in the middle of the country ( landlocked), the STL Aquarium really made my class feel like that had transported to a big coastal city aquarium. It was absolutely magic, and we had such a wonderful time. They loved they chance to see the wildlife up close and even got to touch a few.
By farthe best additions to the STL family-friendly attractions roster.
Lauren Wenger
I've been to the National Aquarium in Baltimore. My expectations were low. But this aquarium is very interactive and has a lot of sea life hosted here! I was very impressed!
Amy Podhrasky
Definitely not the biggest or best aquarium I've ever been to, but it's definitely a must see. Staff is super helpful, the layout flows nicely. We were there on a very busy day and it was still comfortable inside the exhibits. Lots of cool interactive things for kids. It will be much cooler in the summer when the outside is open as well. Parking was very easy too!
Bond O
Very interactive!! Omg, just love what they have done at Union Station!! Def recommend this for any age especially for the kids.
Jessica Mills
My husband and I had a blast. The interactive parts was great, and we even got to see some behind the scenes care for the animals. The staff was super friendly, and answered any questions we have.
RICK ETTERLING
If this is the first aquarium that you will be going to then you will be happy. Plenty of activities for children. The river otters are the best attraction especially at feeding time. The shark tank is nice as well. Not a lot of other exibits but maybe they will be adding more. It is obviously not as established as the Shed Aquarium in Chicago or the aquarium in Atlanta. The virtual train to get in was fun. Well done. The staff might need to be trained on facts more. Several versions of facts about the same fish sometimes from the same person.
Jaura Otto
My kids loved this place today! I've seen a lot of people say it's not worth it, and that's a bummer. It's not the Baltimore aquarium or anything, but I think it's a nice new spot in STL. Lots to do, and Landry's was phenomenal. My oldest and I will go back without the baby so we can do the ropes course and mirror maze.
Toni Kemp
The Saint Louis Aquarium was better than I imagined, it was organized and timely. We bought tickets, printed them and got inline for our scheduled time. The fish were beautiful. They have areas where you could touch the fish, feed the turtles and see other creatures like lizards. The only con was parking probably more so on the weekend - is crazy... But it was worth the time. ***Remember to take your ticket in if going to the Aquarium to get validate at the gifts shop for $5.00, which is worth it if you stay longer than 2-3 hours.
lisa moore
The Aquarium displays were beautiful. And we absolutely loved all of the interactive areas, where the kids (and I) were actually able to touch the animals. The kids also very much enjoyed the interactive play areas of sand and water, with boats. The scavenger hunt kiosks were also fun, and very educational.
Diane Perkins
Fun,exciting place to go. Very fun!
Justin Henderson
Always enjoy family time at the Saint Louis Aquarium. The staff seem happy to be there, and the layout and flow are family oriented. Plus they keep adding new things
Stephanie Will
It's not Sea World or Shed's Aquarium but it's a terrific place to take kids. Tons of hands on learning and exploring. Lots of friendly and knowledgeable staff around. 🐟🦀🐙🦑🐡 …
Kidrolla (Kidkrypto187)
If your visiting STL this is a good spot to check out, kids will love this place as well lots to do. You will have a good time here very nice clean environment and friendly staff.
Mike Wilcott
The aquarium was nice, but definitely something better geared for young children. I've traveled a lot and been to other aquariums that cost the same or less and have much more to offer. I visited with an adult friend and we were through the entire thing in about 25 minutes. The video introduction narrated by John Goodman was a nice touch to the entry, but I was underwhelmed after that. St. Louis Zoo offers almost just as much marine life for free, with much more to see.
Be sure to buy your tickets online ahead of your visit so that you know exactly what time you can enter. All entries are timed at 15 minute intervals and tickets can sell out each day.
The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and did a good job of engaging and teaching the guests.
Josephine Graham
I’ve been here multiple times and it’s always just as fascinating. I love that it’s interactive and you can get up close with different sea creatures. Fun and informative!
Sherrie Cahoon
Best place ever!! Everyone has to take the family here!! We had so much fun doing everything and will for sure bring family back and do it again
Basel Safi
St. Louis aquarium is one of the places that is a must see in St. Louis. It hasn’t been here for long, it’s been almost 4 months since the opened on Christmas week. It’s a great place for families and kids all ages. I had my 5 and 7 with me on this day and they loved it to the point that the second we left they asked if we can go back again when we eat close by. We didn’t know that it’ll be crazy busy on weekends and luckily we had someone to let us know that we can book the tickets online so we don’t have to wait in line. Lots of interaction with the fish and others inside the aquarium.
Will definitely come back again
Rebekah Plumb
We had an amazing experience here! My only complaints are that it was a little on the small side and a little pricey. I love the way they let you touch most of the animals and feet the animals!
Dustin Lively
Having been to several Aquariums over the last couple of years, and this Aquarium being BRAND NEW, and state of the art I had very high expectations. The Union Station aquarium did not disappoint! Friendly staff which is super helpful when a place is slammed packed! Parking could use more signs, but overall we were able to park pretty close. We walked around for about 2 hours just soaking it all in. The Soda Fountain Shop was nice and very tastey. Also if you go and get even just a soda fountain drink, they will validate your parking!!!! So take your parking receipt in with you. They gave us a 3 he validation, so we did not even pay for parking.
Robert Sprenkle
This was a spur of the moment adventure. We really enjoyed the Aquarium. They have numerous touch exhibits.(Favorite was the Doctor Fish). They have numerous Jelly fish, sting rays, sharks and they even have an octopus. We will be making this a stop from here on out.
Tyra Thomas
We had an awesome time! Price was very reasonable. I had three 17 year olds, 19 year old, 12 and 9 year old and the teens enjoyed it just as much as the younger kids, especially the ferris wheel! My mom and I enjoyed it as well!
Kate H
Beautiful design and great habitats. Shark cove is awesome! Several "touch tanks" including doctor-fish, sting-rays, urchin, star fish and a few others- not to mention Lord Stanley the blue lobster!!!
Siddique Hameed
Great place to hang out with your family!
Pat Green
Awesome venue with interactive exhibits! there is a ropes courelse right above the venue, so you can easily make an afternoon or day out of it with the kids!
Dawson C
I was very impressed at the size and amount of sea life on display. The entrance to the main area of the aquarium had an amazing digital roof display that is worth watching until the end before continuing into the rest of the aquarium.
Conor McCartney
A wonderful place
10/10 would do again
Tessa Heskett
So much fun!! Love every part of it! The mirror maze was so much fun, a little pricey. ($8 per person) The high ropes was also a good time. ($15 per person) The aquarium itself was really cool, they had a bunch of awesome fish, the doctor fish were my favorite!!
Patrick Bryan
If you have children it's lot's of fun for them. As an Adult, I have been to better Aquarium's. Paid a little more, but far exceeds this Aquarium. For me, it's not worth the $25.
Malieya LiliPop Williams
This was a great trip! due to covid it was empty! This is a very cool place with lots of cool things to do, but due to covid, there were barely people there! There are quite a bit of hands on fish!!
Schultheis Productions
Excellent place to take the kids. The experience was amazing but just a little short.i would highly recommend buying tickets in advanced due to being very busy. There are so many things to do here. One of the best places in St. Louis
Daniel Warren
Super cute aquarium! I love the style! I wish you could buy packages for all fun experiences at one window instead of multiple windows.
Marcus Wells
I spent more time at the St. Louis Aquarium than I originally thought I would. But that's because it was better than I expected. There's something for everyone.
You'll start with a virtual train ride. Then from there, you'll encounter hands-on experiences, interactive experiences, and close-up experiences. Kids will love the interactive experience with Tommy, the river otter. Tommy is in a virtual environment, but talks to you, answers questions, and tells jokes. There are plenty of animals to see, and some you can interact with. I touched a ray for the first time ever and fed a fish to one. The staff is extremely helpful, pleasant, and knowledgeable. Every single one of them was impressive in all three aspects. The variety of animals is impressive and some of the views and experiences are breath-taking.
In total, I spent almost two hours experiencing everything. That said, I bought a combo ticket, which entitles you to experience all of the paid attractions: The Aquarium, ropes course, mirror maze, carousel, mini golf, and The Wheel (the 200 foot ferris wheel). Yes, there is much to do. The combo ticket is $50, and a pretty good deal if you want to do it all. Also, with the combo ticket, you only have to visit the Aquarium on a specific day and time. For the other attractions, you have 90 days from the date of purchase to use them. I ran out of time on my first visit, so I will be returning within the next couple months. Aquarium tickets for adults (I had no children with me) are $25. I know admission for The Wheel is $15. I've heard that The Wheel is a 15 minute ride and you'll go around 3 times. For what I intended to do that day, I would have spent almost $50 anyway, so the combo ticket made the most sense. Check the website for individual attraction prices and combo ticket prices. Some discounts are available. You can save time by buying your tickets online. It's also a way to ensure admission at your selected time. To control crowd-flow, tickets are sold in 15 minute admission blocks. Take the guesswork out of the process, and buy ahead of time. You'll be glad you did.
If you park on the Aquarium lot (there is more than one, the website has a helpful map to guide you, and I've included the map in my photos), you'll be given a parking ticket. Take your parking ticket inside with you. Upon exiting the Aquarium, inside the gift shop (because of course you exit through a gift shop) you can pay for your parking there, and it will only cost you $5.00. If you don't take your ticket, you'll have to pay the lot's hourly rate. Don't forget to take your ticket.
There are three on-site eateries. One is upscale dining, one is general fare with a nice variety, and the third is American fare featuring burgers, fries, and shakes (where the old Hard Rock Cafe was).
The Aquarium is accessible for all. There are escalators, elevators, and/or ramps close to all stairwells.
You should go. I'm glad I did. Have fun!
Lisa Moll
This is not SeaWorld or the Shedd Aquarium. However, it is a fine place for an aquatic adventure! Let the fish nibble on your hand. Gently touch the sea stars, hermit crabs, stingrays, sea snails, jellyfish, and other animals. Watch the staff feed the animals, and listen to them share their knowledge. Take your time, observe, ask questions,nd enjoy the experience.
Alan Lanzer
I will preface this by saying I am really happy that someone wanted to rehab and bring Union Station back from the dead. However I was not very impressed with the Aquarium as a whole, and they really need to refine many things for this to stay open in the long term. We did not have the same issues as many others when it comes to long waits and ticket issues, but the crowd control was horrendous. They don't seem to know how many people that are currently in the aquarium and will just keep letting more in if they have tickets or the season passes. It was overcrowded and unpleasant to be stuck in such a small space with 1000 of your new best friends and their children. It was a bit expensive for what you could actually see. We really expected more based on the hype, and hope they can survive. If you are looking for a more engaging and better experience, go to the St. Louis Zoo.
Angela Corbin
Not as easy to get in and out of for seniors as it could be. Our Uber could not get to the exit so we had to walk to the front of the hotel in the snow. Also could not get into the aquarium through the hotel. Not easy to navigate all of this with my 92 year old mother.
KoCo Plush
Great place for all ages and groups. Inside the Union Station Plaza..only thing is line are long wait between 30min to hour for tickets. I would suggest you buy online to avoid some of the wait time. And it sold out on the first day we went.. we purchased tickets for the next day. Good thing we did cause it sold out again.. Nice place and other activities for the family inside the Union Station place
J Schupeffer
We enjoyed it, but in our opinions it's made for younger children in some aspects. The jelly fish exhibit disoriented our child and she physically got ill.
Alexander Jensen
I had a blast and I'm very glad that they were able to do something with Union Station. The aquarium is not particularly big, but it is fantastic. There are also plenty of other things to do there if you don't want to spend the $25 (for reference Shedd Aquarium in Chicago is $40). Between the 2nd floor rope/zip line course, giant ferris wheel, aquarium, restaurants, crazy fire stuff going on in the middle of the lake there... It truly has something for everyone at this point.
David Williams
"My first job was at Union Station in 1989. Let's see what the architects at PGAV have done to my memories."
That is what I was thinking as I drove toward downtown to visit the St. Louis Aquarium for the first time. Once I entered, a rush of emotions and memories flooded my mind, but something was different. That something was everything! This place is fantastically designed, constructed, and adorned. I'm aware that I should mention the animals. Ok, here goes. They're awesome. Now back to how cool the building is. In all seriousness folks, go. Take your families. Live. Love. Learn.
Keisha Russell
It was amazing! Great job creating an aquarium for STL! Renovations on Union station are beautiful. Family friendly, even though everything costs! It's a lot of activities for all day fun! Customer service was good! My family loved all of the creatures inside of the aquarium. The seahorses were my favorite. The hands-on areas were also the best we had a great time! It also helped to grab a yearly membership. We walked right to the front of the line!
Bud Tod
We REALLY enjoyed this new aquarium in St. Louis. Located directly inside the beautiful St. Louis Union Station, the aquarium is very nicely appointed. It is very child-friendly and based... but that is what aquariums SHOULD be about IMO - a learning experience! We enjoyed all the employees as well.
Terica Coleman
This is a good place to visit while in STL. My son loved it. We stayed about 2 hrs. There is a animal spotlight every hour. Save money by adding on other activities through their website. The mirrored maze was fun but short.
The Aquarium is surrounded by good restaurants. We dined in Landry's.
David k
This place was over hyped. The line for tickets is crazy if you have little kids. The little sharks were cool and the stingrays. There was a water table for kids to play in that was really neat. Every thing that was at the aquarium was interesting and it is neat you can two finger touch a couple of the exhibits. I personally would save my money and go to the zoo. Out side of a couple of really cool fish, little shark, octopus I didn't see, and a sloth I didn't see the zoo has everything else. The zoo blows this place out of the water! I gave it 3 stars because every single person I interacted with that was an employee was very knowledgeable and very pleasant to talk to!
Marc Crawford
For the price, this place is very disappointing. The zoo already has an awesome sting ray exhibit. Not sure why they thought another sting ray exhibit is needed in St Louis. The display at the beginning is cool, but I paid to see fish, not some fancy computer generated movie. I was just so disappointed by the lack of fish. Also, I was shocked at the amount of people that were allowed to enter the aquarium at one time. I guess there was no concern for public safety with Covid-19 going on. Such a huge disappointment.
Heather Brown
Great place to take your family even during this whole pandemic. Safety guidelines are used an I did not feel uncomfortable. The fish are beautiful. The lights and experience was very nice.
Lynsey Wickam
The staff is super friendly and great. It's very clean. There are touch pools and fun little things for kids. A couple of the attractions were shut down due to covid-19. Social distancing markers are in place and masks are required for anyone over the age of nine.
Hollie Smith
This is not a huge aquarium, but it is by far the most interactive I have been to and they have a lot of things to look at too. Definitely good for ages 3 to 12.
Chloe Jacob
Amazing! Would definitely come again. I think that the stations that you can be physically involved with the animals makes the aquarium very unique. The staff members are placed at each station are very engaging with the children and are educated and enthusiastic.
Marlee Harris (armychiqharris)
Great experience for kids. My son enjoyed himself. Limitted experience due to covid-19 but all in all happy with the quality time spent with my minion. Loved petting the sting rays and sharks! Can't wait to go again and experience all the aquarium had to offer one day. Food can be better. Over priced and not of good quality.
Adam Hawkins
Very nice experience. They paid close attention to the number of people inside and their body temps. They were very knowledgeable well equipped with solutions for incidents. Exhibits were beautiful and staff was very engaging with answers to questions and other interesting info. My grand daughter didn't want to leave. Return visit is a must for us. Thank you guys for an awesome experience. Grand daughter said it was the best day.
CJ Roe
Pretty cool. Had some cool fish and other creatures. Hands in stations with sting rays and some other ocean life. Kids got to do some feeding. There were some pretty good size sharks in the tank and the way it's designed, everyone can see em!
Raven
Beautiful aquarium, clean, staff were great. Awesome for families or a date. Definitely recommended St Louisians and visitors
Harry Doolittle
Fantastic use of a smaller space. Really unlike anything in St Louis. Great engagement around every corner. Worth price of admission and then some! My kids are 17, 16 and 13 and they loved it. Younger kids will REALLY love it.
Diane Ganden
I felt that new Aquarium was expensive considering the exhibits. I do feel that this area of StL will get a large draw from 1st time visitors. Union station should do everything in it's power to capitalize on their engagement.
Vamshi Krishna
Too expensive for the attractions at the aquarium.
The only thing that is nice is the shark canyon and the gift shop.
Wheel of st. Louis and carousel all are fun for kids.
Melanie Rhianna
Definitely a must if u have kids and are in the st louis area this place was fun and had lots of neat fish and much more we loved the sea turtle and feeding the other turtles they had. It also was very clean and lots of sanitizing stations friendly staff
Pat V
One of our granddaughters wanted to go to the Aquarium as part of her Christmas gift. She had a great time. We'll be back.
Josie Marshall
Good Place it was so much fun
Aliya Nursabrina
We had a good time! Very beautiful place to visit!

Nice aquarium located inside Union Station. Wasn't anything 'spectacular' but a cool place to visit for sure.
At current, they have timed entries due to covid restrictions, so anticipate a short wait (10-15 minutes).

This place is amazing! From the doctor fish that eat the skin off your hands to the stingrays that get jealous if you pet the sharks and not them, this is a greatand highly interactive experience for all ages! It is very informative. This is definitely a must do when you are in the area!

Union station is known as one of St.Louis’ top family destinations and they never disappoint us. I highly recommend, as a transplant here from Springfield, to hit this area up regardless if you have children. It’s got something for everyone and it’s always a good thing when I can relax and enjoy a beer and watch our kids play in a safe area.

We only did the aquarium but the space is so much fun and worth paying for parking to go visit especially if your in that area for a sporting event!

Interactive, friendly staff, cool animals and fish, clean safe environment. It’s a wonderful spot! It is a bit pricy for the size but I’d say it was worth it just for the really cool interactive parts.

As someone who hasn’t been to an aquarium in a long time. I was very impressed. I enjoyed it all. Not only are the aquariums very pretty you can also get stingray’s and I believe some kind of small shark. They had mini golf, mirror maze, roof rope and more. Brought out my inner child. Best thing was the Ferris wheel with the AMAZING view of STL. Good finisher for food was the soda fountain. Everything was amazing. No complaints at all. Thank you!

I loved the Aquarium it was beautiful and well kept. Loved the animals. Definitively will go back.

The aquarium showcased a nice variety of fresh and saltwater fish in a variety of creative ways. Many fun other activities like the ropes course, mirror maze and Ferris wheel. They even had airbrush tattoos.

Had a very good time, it has a good atmosphere. I wish it was bigger hopefully there's some type of expansion or something coming soon but overall it's very interactive. My tip to anyone visiting is to take your time. It's not a rush, especially with how small it truly is.

Pictures don't do the aquarium justice, so stop in and check it out.
Staff was knowledgeable, displays were clean, and animals seemed well cared for.

Man taking family photos was super nice and great with the little ones throwing a fit. Place was super clean. Exhibits were neat to look at. Restrooms offered free feminine products which I almost never see. Staff was friendly. Parking was easy. Loved the kid zone that offered free crafts and interactive exhibits. Kids had a blast and it doesn't get much better than that!

Pretty neat aquarium with some very cool interactive things to do. My favourite quick spot for some entertainment on a recent business trip. Only 4 stars bc it was a little pricey for the size but I absolutely loved it

Great place!!! Grandchildren loved it. I love the effects they have done to heighten the experience. Definitely will go back.

This aquarium emphasizes on visitor experience. You can touch some fish with your own hand and has a virtual train in the beginning. It’s the most interactive aquarium I have ever been. I feel sorry for the volunteers that have to talk all day to all visitors. The shark valley is a single huge tank that paths are designed to go around and beneath it. I really like this kind of design because in this way, there are more spaces for fishes to swim and explore. Hope they are not that bored. Some porkfish stopped traveling in groups. One squirrelfish stays still facing the window to observe visitors. One lookdown got a bite on its back. He also stayed still showing the scare to us.

It was small. Tickets entry is divided by time so I'd recommend buying online tob get the entry you want. If you buy at the site you may have to wait. I went on the weekend when there was alot of people there so I waited 2 hrs. Luckily there are other things at Union Station while you wait. Also there is a delicious restaurant I tried there called the Soda Fountain. The aquarium is small but it's very interactive. Kids as well as adult kids will love it.
Serena Lahey
Lots of touch pools, so that was great! It was a little pricey for the size. We got to touch rays, sharks, starfish, and jellies!!!
Ash GR
Nice experience, there are lot of interactive sessions as well as activities for kids. You can also touch the fishes, the gift store has a good collection as well.

My son was a bit too old for this place but we still had a good time! He doesn't like to touch anything like the sting rays and what not so we knew that would not be a big thing for him. We loved looking at all the views in the shark tank and we got to see the otters get fed. Had a great time!

People very nice, overall services are elementary. The overall facility is beautiful and a lot of fun, but it just isn't for older children or experienced adults. The aquarium itself is very nice and laid out with obvious thoughtfulness and it has its beauty, but is extremely Limited in its size and displays for what one has to pay. I went in with perhaps a higher expectation that I should have, but at least I had an understanding that it would be filled with a lot more aquatic displays than there actually were. It's certainly worth a one time go, but nothing would draw me to go back a second time. Management and the folks working there really were fantastic.

Pretty cool interactive aquarium. Loved the little spitting fish, the nibbler fish, the otters and the stingrays etc. Can not recommend enough. Also home of a blue lobster

Today was my first trip to the aquarium and I left disappointed. Overall, it's a very nice, clean facility with beautiful exhibits and a very friendly staff. But the size of the aquarium complex was underwhelming. It just seemed very small with a confusing layout making it difficult to navigate.

This was amazing! So interactive. While there was not a lot of exhibits, what they did have was wonderful. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. If you have littles this is definitely the place to go!
Gene St. Clair
Underwhelming is the word I would use. It's not bad but hardly worth the $25. They do have stingrays just like the zoo that you can touch and feed shrimp but they have that at the zoo as well. The tanks are extremely small. I suppose in the Figured that can expand.
Kaitlin Shillig
This place is awesome! There is an aquarium, an indoor ropes course, restaurants, a gift shop, ferris wheel, and more! Lots of fun for the whole family at any age. There are kid-specific areas, too, to set the little ones loose to play for a while. Easily can spend the entire day here, but if pressed for time you can probably make it through just the aquarium in about 1-2 hours.
Rebecca Luginbill
Aquarium is small (we skipped it). Has attractions here geared for grade school kids. My teens enjoyed the high ropes course.
Shelby Hays-Duvall
The aquarium was very cool and interactive for the kiddos! We loved being able to touch some of animals and see all the exibits. I only wish it was a bit bigger with more to see.
Alexis
This aquarium was top notch and super fun for the kids. The “train ride” that starts the tour was amazing and unexpected. Everything was hands on, they got to touch the fish, jellyfish and sting rays. There was a shark tank which is a must for an aquarium. They even had a sensory room for autism which shows you that they went out of their way to think of everything. We had a blast here and easily could have spent 4 hours at this location. Price was great too for what you get!
Nichole Ort
The interactive exhibits we're great....a lot of hands-on stuff but definitely on the smaller side. The whole place was really cool and we will be back again for sure!!! Good experience for the price!!
Brian Van Hoosier
The attention to detail here is second to none in the city. the staff and cast all know they are part of something special. We have been there about a dozen times this year and it just never gets old. Such an immersive experience. Thanks for everything to everyone
Susan Wyatt
My whole house went today, it was awesome, so many different things to, but all of it was so fun, great for family outing!
Shea Z
Great aquarium! More interactive touch tanks than any other I've been to, and they don't charge extra for many of them.
Kat
I would say it is kind of small compared to many I've been to. I think the coolest thing was the dr fish that you can stick your finger. Maybe more interesting to little kids.
Jason Lusk
Great array of aquatic life. Though smaller than major aquariums, it holds its own with the overall experience.
Carrie White
Beautiful aquarium, prices aren't bad. Had a lot of fun!
Jay H
Glade to see union station being used. The aquarium was nice., nothing mind blowing though. MIRROR MAZE WAS FUN! overall not bad for $21 a person .
Dave Cameron
We went on a weekday in November; and there were very few people there. At many places throughout, there were employees showing hands-on exhibits such as doctor fish (eat the dead skin off your hands), rays to touch, an animal was brought out with a keeper talk, and a play area for little kids. We even saw a brief interactive show designed for the 6-10 year-old set. Took us about an hour to see the whole thing. It is 2 floors, has quite a variety of fish, sharks, otters, an octopus, and other sea creatures
Crystle Phelps
The aquarium isn't big. Took about 30 mins to make it through it. The ferris wheel was nice.
Lara Pippin
Love the place. Need more things to interact with tho but worth going. Just make sure you go at feeding time or else your done in about 30 or less min.
Shannon Jamison
Amazing place to explore lots of different species of marine life can't wait to go back.
