Reviews of Missouri Botanical Garden
Quincy Blackwell
A really nice family friendly garden. Current under renovations to welcome center area, looks like a big project that will be amazing when completed. We came on Juneteenth for a free day at the gardens. They often have gardening workshops and the kids area of the gardens is amazing! Tons of fun things to play on, a slash pad, and more! Would come back just for the kids area!

We went to the Garden Glow last Wednesday, and the Garden looks great! The new lobby and front steps blew me away with how amazing they looked. Everything looks so open and modern! I am a big fan of Glow, and of the garden in general. I love how it's set up, and the sense of peace and calm I get from being among all the flora. The new gift shop looks awesome, and I really like all the learning opportunities presented to guests throughout the garden. This is a St. Louis gem that we are so lucky to have!

This is just a review of the Garden Glow for the Holidays. It's open until 10pm, so the later you go, the less crowds. When we were leaving at 8:30, it was considerably thinning out. Lots of very cool light displays. Very organized as you are directed along a route. The regular garden displays are not open. Only a portion of the garden is lit up.Nice photo opportunities set up along the way. It's a little expensive but worth the money at least once. Also a great way to get some fresh outdoor air at this time of year.

It was a beautiful space and everyone was so helpful in the lobby area. We happened to go on a festival weekend (Japanese) and it was so much fun! I know my family has already talked about going back in different seasons to see how it changes.
Also -- there are various restrooms, water fountains, and indoor exhibits to see besides the lovely outdoor garden paths.
Emily Anderson
This is worth a trip. I tried to cram everything in a couple hours.... it could have easily be an entire day event. Cafe and restroom on site.... there are SO many things to explore... kid friendly... I enjoyed the Koi pond and watching people feed them... the tropics in the dome were nice too!
Valerie Welch
What a magical place! We had a lovely time. 3 hours wasn't enough, I could have stayed all day. Bonus that our food from the cafe was also delicious and had the nicest staff ever. Huge thanks to the staffer who told me about how the wooden table was made from a tree that had to be removed from the garden, that was cool to know! One of the best botannical gardens I have been to in the country!
Sarah
We went for Garden Glow to see the Christmas lights! It was beautiful! The adults and kids both loved and enjoyed it! I have never been to the gardens during the day but I can't wait to go back, see everything in the daylight, and update this review. I highly recommend going to the Garden Glow!

The Holiday Glow event is INCREDIBLE. hands down the best decorations I have ever seen. They have everything set up so beautifully. The staff were all so nice and helpful. Plenty of restrooms throughout the walk. Photo ops are awesome!!! It's a steal for the price!!!
Sabrina Seiber
So much to see - absolutely beautiful. Family friendly - they have a whole children’s garden/play area and wide paths. Even trolley tours if you or your family members need that. There is something new to see every time you go. Very friendly staff and they have a cute gift shop at the end!
Seth O'Connor
Went here with my girlfriend the weekend before Christmas. It was a cold, but magical night. The lights and displays were wonderful with a great atmosphere. Taking our time it took us about 2hrs to walk through everything. We had hot chocolate and s'mores by one of the fire pits. If they do it again next year we'll be there!
Angie Steen
We came from out of town and seeing all the good reviews we decided to make this a place to stop. It did not disappoint. So many beautiful and unique plants, flowers and trees to see! Kids from 3-13 enjoyed their time at the kids garden too. We had lunch at the cafe and it was soo good!! Loved the view sitting outside to eat.
We spent several hours and still didn't get to everything. You could spend an entire day there for sure. A place of serenity.
Barry Schoedel
I am a member of the Botanical Garden. I enjoy walking through in various seasons to see enjoy the beauty. It's also nice to go to various events they have. Great place for family or dates. There are nice cafes and coffee there also. One of my favorite exhibits are the lily pads.
Emily Paul
The garden is beautiful all year round! It’s beautifully maintained, you can do it in an hour if you need to but could easily spend much more time. They have so many different events so there’s always something new to check out! A great place for an outing with the family to literally stop and smell the roses!
Bruna Picker
It’s being years since my last visit. It was awesome. If you have children, get ready to spend the whole day just in the kid’s area. We had a blast. So many activities! After the kids area my daughter was exhausted😂 We hopped in the tram ride to get to see the rest of the place. The garden roses are a paradise sample. Enchanting. Took awesome pictures of my daughter.
Kevin Thompson
Very cool place! We’ll worth the price of admission. We were able to walk around for about 2.5 hrs and there were some places we didn’t see. When we went in October they were setting up Halloween and Christmas lights. A few paths and places were closed for restoration, but it was still a great afternoon.
Narada Lee
Lovely and expansive botanical gardens, it just seems to go on and on, I walked around for a few hours and there was still so much I didn't see. I love plants and seeing their natural habitat. The botanical greenhouse dome was very impressive with a huge variety of tropical plants, trees, and flowers it felt like entering a tropical region. The Japanese gardens and lake were also very beautiful and well taken care of. I would love to visit again in the spring!
ca hansen
What a wonderful way to spend a day. Easy parking on site. Visited on a Saturday. Good mix of both shades and sunny areas to view a multitude of plants. We have found new plants and old that we are now interested in to plant in our own garden!
Kimberly Miller
The Japanese garden was absolutely beautiful and bloom. The climatron was very clean and and lots of room to move around. It's still early in the year so not a lot of things were blooming yet. The magnolia trees were very fragrant. Everyone was very helpful and polite. Definitely going back later on in the year when more things are in bloom.
Kristi Albert
We have explored many botanical gardens in the USA and this is such a lovely gardens! There is plenty to see and a wonderful place to walk around for hours! The greenhouse was nicely done and all their various landscapes and flower beds were beautiful, even in the autumn! You saw workers and volunteers scattered around, it was a very well cared for place! The staff were all very friendly! We were visiting from out of town and wished we had more time than the few hours we had to explore these lovely gardens. Highly recommend.
BogdanM
The botanical garden is a beautiful place, pleasant for walking and relaxing. However, my conception of a botanical garden is a little different from what I found here. In my opinion, although very beautiful, the St. Louis Botanical Garden can be better called a park. I have found here too few trees or plants from different parts of the world and many plants that you could see, just as beautiful and arranged in many other places in the city.
Sarika Khanwilkar
A must stop in St. Louis! Spent 2.5 hours and didn't get to everything. Arrived at 10:30 am and the parking lot was already full. FYI no luggage storage so I had to wheel my bag around (stopped at the garden my way to the airport) but not bad because fully accessible. The tropical plant collection and the glass chihuly exhibits scattered throughout the garden were very impressive.
Deep Chatterjee
This is a great place to visit whether you live in Saint Louis or visiting. We got a membership and it has been worth it. A walk through the garden is very relaxing. Great place for young and old. Parking is not a problem except during a festival. The Japanese garden is my favorite. There are several festivals year round. I'll leave some photos from the garden glow festival.
Mike Oliveri
Wonderful place. We killed a couple hours walking around, and most of the garden wasn't even in bloom yet. Loved the Japanese garden especially, and the Climatron was a close second. We look forward to returning to check out the Chinese and English Gardens in the Spring or Summer.

5/5. It was a very cute little place for a date. My gf was visiting and we decided to come to this place. We've been to many botanical gardens back in California. It was nice to get some steps in and enjoy the various plants. The tickets were easily purchased online and the checkin process was extremely simple and quick. Highly recommended to come here for your annual dose of pollen induced allergies.
Megan Anastasia
We loved our time at the botanical gardens! The cherry blossom trees were in bloom, and the result was enchanting. For the first time, we stepped inside the Shaw house. All of the staff were incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and kind. The same was true of the staff in the climatron. As always, it’s a joy to spend time in this St Louis garden ♥️
Travis Pezzera
Very beautiful. Perfect for a family day or even a date. Some very beautiful sights to be seen. You can also take a tram around the Garden property for just $5 per person.
James Hall
Really neat visit. I’m not a plant person per se but plenty of really cool stuff to see. The grounds are fantastic. You could easily spend a full day here and not see everything I would really like to get back there to spend more time roaming
Briana Cooper
We went and saw the glow exhibit at the botanical gardens and let me just saw it was completely worth it!!! It was easy to buy the tickets online and have them on my phone ready to be scanned at the counter to get into the program. You do have to wear masks indoors but outdoors you do not. Parking was easy and free. They have a parking lot with guides to help you park in spots. The whole experience took us almost 2 hours to go through. For sure a staple to see for Christmas time!
Coco “潇枭” Geng
Pretty Japanese garden in Fall. Photos took on thanksgiving.
We visited this garden last Thanksgiving (November 2021). A bit late and cold, most leaves were on the ground, but still got the last peek of fall colors.
Suggestions: I believe earlier November will be a better time, if you want to see the best Autumn color in Japanese garden.
Another interesting thing: We went to feed the koi fishes, but ducks finished all fish food.
Paul Blair
Acres of gardens, both indoor and outdoor areas to enjoy. Beautiful ponds. Lots of different trails to explore. Gardens from across the world! Thousands of different species. Wonderful trees. Sitting areas. Lots of photo opportunities and enjoyment for the eyes. Encourage you to pick a time when the majority of flowers are in full bloom. You will feel much better about the entry fee!
Ang Eaton
This place is absolutely beautiful and so incredibly peaceful. It's the best botanical garden I've been to so far! Place is upkept very well and there were no areas that weren't beautiful. Went with family while in Ballwin for a family vacation. They have a trolly ride but we didn't have time to do that due to our schedule. If I go again, I'll definitely do that as well. I cannot describe how stunning this place is but I couldn't help but take tons of photos! I left feeling recharged and in a wonderful mood. Great experience to be remembered for a lifetime! Loved it!
Josie Jastram
Absolutely stunning! We enjoyed our time here. You can easily spend half a day walking around, seeing all the different areas, taking in the Vitamin D, and enjoying all the sounds and smells. Each area of the gardens is beautifully designed. We were amazed at how far the garden kept going and just how much there was to see. We loved seeing all the varieties of plants, especially the ones that smell like maple syrup! Our favorite part was the dome and being able to see the difference varieties of plants, fruits, and vegetables in there. The design inside the dome was phenomenal and there were so many amazing things to see everywhere we looked. Wonderful place to spend the day!

Doesn't matter if it's snowy and the beautiful garden glow lights are happening or if it's during summer/spring and all the flowers will make you feel like you're in paradise. Botanical Garden never disappoints. Always a great way to spend time with friends, family or when you're on a date :-) We've been going here for years.
Joyce Barron
Went for the Christmas lights display. It was beautiful as always. But packed with people. The parking lot was to capacity so had to park two blocks away on the street. There was a flower house to walk through which was beautiful also.
Jocelyn Ross, Officiant on Demand
Great adventure. Lovely grounds. Lovely walk. Easy parking we even saw a wedding. O really liked the Cafe. There was bus transportation on the grounds.very nice.
Jeanie Bond
The BEST place to visit in St. Louis. And if you have a Garden Membership somewhere else, you can use it here! Every season has spectacular views. We come here every time we come to St. Louis
M J
Such a magical place for Christmas. The lights, music, hot chocolate, s’mores and plenty of photo ops. Such a fun time!! Getting in was a breeze great parking in walking distance
Amber Kaser
Absolutely beautiful. What a great time of year to show up. Could smell the flowers everywhere and everything was so well taken care of. Absolutely 10/10 would recommend to anyone in the area or visiting.
Mark S.
This is one of favorite places to walk, listen to music or a podcast or just walk in silence. I enjoy each season but especially spring and fall. There is always something new besides the old favorites including some glorious trees and flower beds. New but closing soon was an origami sculpture exhibit. And of course the people watching is excellent- families, couples, older folks (like me), a good variety of people all enjoying the beauty of nature. There were even two weddings setting up. The Botanical Gardens also has interesting history! Remember your sunscreen and water. And enjoy.
Peter Marsh
Stunning place. Walked around for hours and didn't even get to see it all. The Climatron alone is worth the price of admission. Would 100% recommend this place to anyone visit St. Louis.
Milinakm
Love this garden grounds. Workers were very friendly. Beautiful selection of flowers and trees. Gorgeous water lilies. Love Historical buildings.
David Lazar
Come here if you have kids! This place has an awesome kids area that is only $5 extra added onto already discounted kids tickets. You can literally spend hours there on the variety of playgrounds and kids activities they have!
Otherwise, the garden was very nicely maintained and huge. The main attraction is definitely the Climatron - which is a 60s era Bucky-sphere that contains a jungle like atmosphere with many cool walkways and bridges.
We visited on Halloween and, as an added bonus, they had outdoor trick-or-treating set up and everyone was in costume!
This place is a great refuge in St Louis. There is plenty to do and see even after multiple visits. Do yourself a favor and buy a membership!
Tracy Daugherty
This place was fantastic to see at night- I can only imagine how it must look in the day. I drove several hours to see a corpse flower bloom, and was there past midnight. The staff were all amazing, especially considering they took time away from family and stayed up late to make sure people could have the opportunity to view this amazing plant.
Paul
Beautiful place for a walk. Love the Whitaker Music Festival on Wednesday nights! PRO TIP: The Missouri botanical gardens is free to St Louis residents on Wednesday and Saturday mornings before noon.
adam renz
Having only visited the botanical gardens previously for Holiday Garden Glow events, my visit this September opened up a whole new appreciation for this magnificent outdoor space. The price of admission is reasonable but the price of membership is a bargain.
matt bohan
Absolutely fantastic. The Climatorium is amazing. We checked out the Japanese garden closely, but it's so large we only had a passing glance at the rest.
Phenomenal.
John Green
Went here during a visit with my Brother and desired fall colors. Back in Jacksonville, Florida we aren't able to fully immerse ourselves in this beautiful season. And was I ever delightfully surprised at the peaceful trails, variety of landscapes, wildlife and lots of gorgeous trees and colorful foliage. A truly memorable experience!
Charlie Ho
Visited for Garden Glow and it was a fun evening to enjoy the lights. The crowds were a bit heavy, especially when waiting for specified photo op spaces. Would not wait in the long line to visit the house on site, not worth it. Go spend more time outside with the lights
Andrea N
Absolutely beautiful gardens! Highly recommend, daylillies we're in full bloom and spectacular! Chinese garden, climatron, house garden great! They are cashless so order online before hand or bring credit cards.
Eric Willson
Really calming to walk through and an amazing variety of plants. I wish I knew more about different types of plants to fully enjoy everything that they had.
It was very hot when I visited, but there were plenty of drinking fountains around to stay hydrated.
Chloe Barker
Very beautiful botanical garden. It covers a lot of area and everything is absolutely stunning and vibrant. The statues are a nice plus. They offer a tram ride although I did not do that this time. The climatron is the coolest green house I’ve ever been in, so be sure to visit that if you go (you can’t miss the giant half dome!) and their Japanese garden is very large and stunning. I got to go during the origami in the garden, I wish those statues were permanent features! I highly recommend this garden!
Alexa Peterson
*Visited here a couple years ago* Gorgeous! Tons to look at in botanical area, as well as outside! My only complaint was being a momma with a kiddo - more bathrooms are necessary, closer by.
Holly Smith
I have loved this place for years. The Missouri Botanical Gardens is a beautiful place. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The grounds are well kept. They have recently been renovating and I can't wait to go back once it is finished and see how it looks.
Follow The Sun Designs Faith Roemmelt
This was my first time to botanical garden. They are currently in transition so a lot of things were blocked off. But what we did get to see was absolutely fabulous! I would definitely return!
Darlaine Donna Raley
As I remembered this year 2022 our 5x for the Garden Glow @ Missouri Botanical Garden , my husband and I still amazed how majestic the garden more because of the Christmas lights which even the sky you can see how nice the colors are.🥰🤗🤩🎄🎊 …
Scheereen Dedman
I'm not sure if a botanical garden can get anything less than 4 stars, but this one did not disappoint. And the children's center puts it above your typical botanical gardens. In a city obsessed with green spaces, this establishment still stands out. Bring quarters to feed to fish / sucks/ geese.
Rafael Arrizon
Went to shoot Infrared Photography and check out the Japanese garden. I was afraid it was going to be too small but was entirely wrong. I didn't have enough time to properly enjoy everything. There is a detail to be noticed at every angle. Worth the entrance fee. I'll be back, for sure.
Anna Glasgow
The location was easy to find, great parking and easy to get around. It started raining so the dome was a priority to visit- there was many renovations happening and not everything was open. We did not see anything other than the dome due to rain and you have to walk outdoors to get to each attraction. If anything I wish we wouldn’t have had to pay full price due to renovations happening and not everything being open. There were electric scooters available to the public so that’s always a plus!
Cailin Davis
Exquisite grounds with meticulous labeled collection of flora. Beautiful botanical gardens with easy walking paths and continuous enrapturing views. Don’t miss the Dave Chihuly glass in the reflecting pond and the entrance or the Temperate House with remarkable diversity.
Tracy Graham
The Glow Lights event was magical! My favorite part about the gardens in general was all the amazing trees. The redwood, magnolia, and giant century old trees are so magestic and stunning!
Max Plaster
We walked through the Garden Glow Christmas lights this year for the first time. This show is amazing. The lights were to music, amazing screens, lots of small Christmas trees decorated by the staff, a light tunnel, a stand-in snow globe, and the projector show on the Tower Grove house is super cool. We got the added benefit of walking through as it was snowing and cold with great hot chocolate. You will not be disappointed. I didn't take many pictures I was too much in awe.
Jeremiah Church
Here is the deal!Took the family here for family day had an absolutely fabulous time I would recommend doing the Japanese garden but it all was fantastic. Even the ice coffee period
S M
I checked this place out after work one day, and it was breathtaking. I loved every part of the garden. Please consider checking it out if you are a fan of nature. I would highly recommend checking out the Asian garden areas during the fall!
Michael Parsons
The gardens are fabulous. There is a lot of variety of plants, flowers and trees.
The tropical building has sections that made me think of Jurassic Park. Huge ferns, other worldly flowers, head turning variety.
C.D.
Giving MBG five stars after our most recent visit. There are so many improvements happening all over the park, like the new visitors center and the addition of new educational resources. The park also announced the addition of transportation trams that will make stops throughout the various gardens, making everything more accessible! Tickets are very affordable and is packed full of a days worth of exploration! The MBG is fun for the entire family, offering several interactive activities for the kids.
Be sure to visit the Temperate House and the Ottoman Garden! These are my personal favorite spots!
Jeremy
The people that work here are really friendly. They prolly send their employees through some type of customer service training, because all of them are over the top nice and very helpful. The garden itself is beautiful. Worth going a couple of times.
Rachel P
This botanical garden was IMPRESSIVE. We went during the Japanese festival and it was so fun! It was raining during some of it, but we still had such a great time seeing all of the cool vendors and artwork/displays/shows. It is such a huge area to walk around so make sure you have hydration, good walking shoes, and UV protection. The map they give you is great. The gift shop is in transition due to construction, but it was well stocked and had fun items! We will definitely be back when we go visit Missouri because it was so great and we didn’t get to see everything we had wanted to!
Neerja Tiwari
A great experience
And a must visit if you are in St Louis
Requires a minimum of four hours if you want to rush through but if you want to savour and read up all the nuggets of information then best to do three sections per visit
Loved the Japanese garden and the Washington Carver section this time
Did a quick walk through their home centre and peeped into the Climatron
Kat K
My favorite place to come when we visit St. Louis Missouri ~ this time everything has bloomed so beautifully. Can't wait til the construction is finished .. we'll be back next summer ~~
Bobby Leighton
Christmas lights were amazing. Usually I think these Christmas displays are for kids but they did a great job with interactive lights and displays, synched to holiday music. Everyone loved it!
Tonya Wright
We went for the Garden Glow. The lights and music were festive and we enjoyed our experience. There was a place to order food if you desired. We didn't order anything, but it smelled delicious. They had a couple different locations to either get hot chocolate, cocktails, or water along the trails. Several picture taking opportunities, but they are on your own. Looking for something fun and festive for the season give them a try. Happy Holidays!
Sister Rym
Our family had the honor to be invited for the Chinese Heritage Festival. The colors were bright and beautiful, there were activities every hour, and even though we had to stop and feed our baby often, we were able to catch some of the activities throughout the garden. It was lovely to see children performing under trees.
Things that would make the experience better:
1. Places for women to nurse throughout as needed without feeling like everyone is walking their way and watching. People were taking photos and videos of us even though we were tucked away from other people, it was like they were coming over to look at what we were doing. If we had a few private, shaded areas to feed our babies, we could eat and not bake in the sun or worry about being harassed and recorded. We also would have to travel too far to nurse as well. We ended up finding a perfect area near the stage with plenty of shade and less distraction so baby could eat in peace.
2. More take home art activities for adults and children
3. More water refill stations throughout the garden easy to find. We always had to walk all the way back to the bathroom area in the welcome center which is a long way when you've run out of water.
4. More trash cans throughout the garden
Rebecca McMahon
Beautiful gardens! You can spend a few hours or all day. There is so much to see! Perfect for all ages.
Kerry Weible
I'll likely return in the spring and will probably update the review to 5 stars. The construction noise near the entrance was a negative and just because of the time of year many flowers weren't blooming. However, the gardens are beautiful and there are so many unique ones to roam in. I spent 3 hours here and could have stayed longer. I especially enjoyed the English Woodland Garden and the Japanese Garden.
RedBullKC
What a gem! We strolled and took several photos of the beautiful surroundings with a waterfall, lake, streams, gorgeous buildings, statutes, water features, planetarium and so on! We were all impressed and commend the the city of STL for owning and maintaining with such meticulous care! Plants from all around the world and natural beauty only an entrance fee away! Visit and enjoy, it's worth it! We were overly impressed by the "bottled water" in a can, with refill stations throughout and each time you refill, it tells you how many plastic bottles have been eliminated! Loved it! 🌎🫒🍆🌶🍎🍅

WHY HAS NO ONE TOLD ME ABOUT THIS PLACE. It has to be one of the most gorgeous botanical gardens we’ve ever been to. Not only is this place breathtaking but the people who work there were just so amazing. We never planned on staying in St. Louis but needed a place to rest. So we decided why not explore the beauty of St. Louis and we stumbled upon the botanical gardens. Upon entering we were greeted by Cassandra and Mary who were beyond welcoming and the sweetest people, they were excited to hear about our adventure. They made sure to give us an insight on the garden so we don’t miss a thing on our tour. One of the coolest green houses we’ve ever seen. When you enter the climatron, it feels like a utopia, some of the most beautiful tropical plants you’ll see. They were also ecstatic to inform us about their LIGHT SHOW, and boy were we blown away. There were so many different light themes it was just breathtaking. It would be a fantastic first date. Upon exit there’s a mistletoe, so first kiss, hmmm… If you love everything plants, love Christmas with s’mores over a fire with nice cup of hot chocolate, photographs, love feeding ducks, or just love Mother Nature, this is a place you MUST visit in St. Louis. We just want to say a huge thank you to Cassandra, Mary, Johanna, everyone one at the blizzard bar, and everyone else who works there.
Carlos Favela
Very nice garden to take the kids for a stroll. The whole garden can be enjoyed in about 2-3 hours if you’re stopping frequently to enjoy the scenery.
Mike Brockmeier
A wonderful place filled with the beauty of God's creation. So many reasons to go and enjoy it: a peaceful walk, a romantic date, take photos, paint a picture...whatever you want! Bring some quarters so you can feed the carp in the Japanese Garden.
The special exhibits offer something new each time you go. We enjoyed the origami sculptures this time.
caleb aguilar
Great place to escape stl. I felt like no matter how many times I come I'm always seeing new things and making new memories. Here you can forget about the things going on and come back to the present. Appreciate the "gift" that we call the present.
Stephanie Whaley
Lived in area all my life and first time for a visit. Interested in membership to be able to see all the different seasons here. Peaceful and pretty.
John Krakowski
Always beautiful, always an event going on. Visit Garden Glow in the winter, the different festivities during the rest of the year. Spend an afternoon and just take it in.
Debbie Splean
My favorite place to visit in St. Louis, year round, hands down! As the seasons change, there is always a new set of colors to view. And the staff change out the seasonal planting beds month by month, not repeating annually, either, so there's always something new to enjoy in the horticultural world. Bring your children. It's a beautiful place to soak up nature and discover texture, colors, sounds and scents. You can't beat the special exhibits during the holidays, either! Children have plenty to explore, from water displays to fun statues, to a children's garden, to a hedge maze to get lost in.
Daniel J
Great spot to be outside and enjoy nature! Took the kids and they loved it. From the Japanese Gardens and koi 🐠 to the Children's garden, had a great time. Price was right at $14 for the whole family. Excellent way to spend an afternoon! …
Tati Raz
Beautiful botanical garden! Some construction were going on but we still enjoyed it. Play ground for kids it’s so much fun
Amaya Tarrants
I was absolutely blown away by how large this garden was. It is beautifully maintained. Gorgeous plants and even some wildlife throughout. A little hard to navigate in order of the map- I found myself wandering out of order and a little lost at times, but it wasn’t a bother to me. This is a must see experience for tourists passing through the area.
Season
Take your walking shoes! We went for the garden glow and it was larger than expected. The good part is that there were plenty of benches along the way. You could also eat, roast marshmallows, have adult beverages, all while enjoy the wonderful light shows. It’s worth the money.
Sarah Lorentz
I always love visiting the Gardens, but painting out for their Grand Reopening was such an amazing experience! Many thanks to the Red and Black Brass Band for their inspiring performance!
Ali Khan
The most beautiful botanical garden I've been to. Must visit. My favorite was the climatron. I can see myself visiting here often
Ranjan Sharma
Awesome place ... whole day went so fast...we enjoyed each and every garden here. Specially Japanese Garden was superb.
Plamen Kolev
I love to visit the Botanical garden. Every time there is something immpressive as planned event or exibition. I am posting photos from 2015 Lantern Festival. It was like in China! And, of course, few photos of Japanese garden from the most colorfull fall i had ever seen!
Sherry Carroll
What a lovely place to spend a hot October day! Hardly anyone there , but even if they were this spacious area has room for them all . We caught the end of the summer flowers but the leaves should be changing anytime now.
It's a manageable size place to get around and they do have a tram tour but the last one of the day stops very early so confirm the times.
Really great for little ones who know better than to head for the water (mine still don't and they are all grown lol) it's great place for responsible kids to want to run and chase ( not have a dip ) in this ideallic environment while you get a bit of a break and for the littlest ones who can't walk yet to stroll and be strolled . I think that it's no pets but check the website
Perfect for people who have trouble doing a lot of walking around but there are benches in the shade everywhere . We did not have much time there before we went home but I feel like I really saw what the city was like. The parks are so welcoming !

A beautiful gem of a garden in STL-the Teahouse is a must see however you have to get there early to secure your spot. Tickets are very limited to preserve the peace and ambiance on the island.
Chris Lee
This was a beautiful place to visit. It is like an oasis in the giant metropolis of St Louis. The Chihuly glass works and art were a perfect accent to this garden. This place is definitely worth seeing. You will not regret the peaceful serenity of this garden.
K. Graham
Super great garden experience! Lovely attendants that were all willing to regail us guests with garden history and fun facts and absolutely gorgeous plants all around.
Bryan Grace
Was a really nice visit, not crowded so you could take your time.. feeding the koi was cool.
Now what some would call the downside.. a fair amount of things were closed and a lot of construction/set up for the festival of lights was going on..
Still worth the visit and the lights will be fantastic..
Katelyn Brewer
We came here on our weekend getaway and it was probably my favorite thing we did. All the flowers were beautiful. I like that there were maps so we knew where to go check out next. We went during the Japanese Festival so I feel like there were more people than usual, but we still made the best of it and it just added to the fun people watching.
Shunna Joshua
This was a Mother's Day treat from my mom and I had a great time. I will definitely be back next year if they have Grapes in the Garden.
Brandon Robinson
Amazingly beautiful gardens, with a great variety of plants from around the world. All areas are kept incredibly well and plants are well labelled. The Chinese and Japanese gardens are definitely a highlight, and are designed exactly like the parks and gardens you see when traveling there. A beautiful escape to Asia without even leaving Missouri.
C
Beautiful charming Neighborhood outdoor and tropical indoor themed type and local gardens with art sculptures in tje Lily pads. Have to go all year round to get the full effect .
The botanical garden has over 79 acres of land with spectacular green spaces that enhances the quality of life and environment of the area!
Renae Grimes-Avery
Even on a cloudy/rainy day (sprinkled rain) this visit is always a treat. I'll be back! Special tip: Take a towel to dry wet outdoor benches if you need to rest occasionally... most seating is exposed to the rain!
Susan O.
Attended the Garden Glow Christmas lights on a Friday evening. Very crowded but the lights and music were enjoyable. There is parking at the garden but also a couple of blocks away.
Dob Dobbin
Whitaker concert series on Wednesday from 5-9. Advanced reservation required. Great gardens with so much to see and do. Food vendors and drink vendors throughout the garden. Truly an awe inspiring place. Don't miss out if you have a chance to visit.
Dee White
Today was H-O-T! WE e didn't cover as much as I would have liked but certainly Iiked what I did see and highly recommend fur others. My favorite parts were lily ponds, tropical rain forest, home gardner and the Chilully glass decorations.
der Giso
Relaxed location with wounderful composition of garden architecture and design -worth to stay the whole day, even in a hot sunny day you find a shady place to rest.
Linda Houseknecht
Missouri botanical garden is so beautiful! Whether you are visiting or you live in St. Louis, always a great place to visit.
Lynn Hardin
The gardens are set up nicely. The plants can be hard to identify even with the tags. The art is beautiful.
Shasta Parks
Loved it! It was cold when I went but I enjoyed the walking and consivtory was amazing!!! The Japanese and Chinese gardens are always a favorite of mine!
Stephanie Murrell
I love the integration of sculpture and nature. The sculpture exhibit included when I went was oragami. This are was placed all across the gardens so it was like a little treasure hunt. I mean they gave you a map but it was a still a nice surprise when you saw the sculptures. My favorite and the largest garden is the Japanese gardens. I really enjoyed the climatetron
Brian Cunningham
Our first time going to the Garden Glow. A last minute decision that we will always remember. I don’t know that I can accurately describe how amazing it was. Highly recommend!!
Blackhaw Viburnum
Garden Glow in winter is fantastic walk through light display. Beats sitting in a car and looking at lights. Allow 2 hours to soak it in. Dress for weather.
Rose
There should be an alternative way to do the Glow, other than making people stand out in the freezing cold waiting to get into the Glow. There was a lady in a wheel chair with Oxygen, a Lady sitting as her knee was stiffing up from the cold, then me I've had 5 back surgeries & the cold hurts.
Not as festive as it use to be, pretty disappointed with not a whole lot of Christmas time decorations. No Wreaths, Santa's, Candy Canes, Reindeer, Snowmen, Bells, Jingle Bells just alot of Trees.
There was too much white thoughout especially the Glow sign, why not red & green?
Really not as festive as some of the drive thru with Christmas lights.
Need someone to direct traffic going out of the lot, traffic is just out of control almost hitting people walking out too.
For all the money they make the circumstances could be more humane, myself I'll go to the drive thru Christmas Lights after the dissapointing journey and save money along with staying warm.
Mary Casto
So beautiful even in the winter. I loved seeing Chiuly glass in the dome. Very helpful guest services.
mark davenport
Wonderful day at the botanical gardens. This place is so full of wonders. Become a member get the discounts and take the whole family.
Jeremiah Church
Here is the deal! What an awesome way to spend family time or to just meditate in the Japanese garden how about listen to story time no matter what you choose you will leave renewed.
Bryan Rupp
The Missouri Botanical Garden provides an amazing experience for those of us who enjoy gardens and plants. Of course the most outstanding garden is the Japanese. However, other gardens are just as impressive but smaller including the Chinese, Boxwood, Rose and the phenomenal Climatron featuring a tropical rainforest. This is an absolute must see garden for enthusiasts and for those desiring to see the highlights of the St. Louis metropolitan area. It's important to note the pictures taken were in late October. Christmas decorations are in the process of being added for the upcoming season. Update: the visitor expansion is absolutely phenomenal. Definitely worth checking out!
Brianna Doyle
Beautiful new gift shop with such cute stuff. I absolutely love the gardens too. Love the new spaces they created!
John Van Duzer
Beautiful grounds and information. We went while the iris garden was in bloom. Absolutely fabulous.
Shilpa Sanapala
Went on 3/26, only weeping cherry trees and a few magnolias seem to be blooming right now besides daffodils and a few other bulbs but it was a beautiful day and the Missouri botanical garden is definitely a great place to visit throughout the year.. will definitely go back on a warmer and less windy day.
Sam Ambrose
Garden Glow was a unique, amazing, wonderful experience. Tip- Wednesdays are family nights and will save you some money.
The Santa was genuinely the best we've encountered!!!
Michael Sullivan
One of the best botanical gardens to be found. Overall size makes it great for an hour or a day, the scale of each individual section is perfectly done. S tier, 10/10, would recommend
Shana Dearing
Beautiful space to visit.
The gardens are spectacular, and the paths are easy to navigate.
Could easily spend the day there.
David Mack
Absolutely amazing gardens and exhibits. This was my first time and I will surely be back.
Alexander Henderson
Arguably one of the best gardens in the world. The Children's Garden is the best I have ever seen
Michael Terrell
The botanical gardens are always beautiful no matter what time of year you visit. The new visitors center is not fully completed, but the rest of the garden is beautiful!
Heidi Reckel
The Garden Glow is not to be missed. MOBot is always good to visit any time of year. So much to look at!
Caitlin Jo Ramsey
This is one of my favorite places on earth. I used to visit regularly as a St. Louis local, and still travel back to this city just to visit MoBot. The Japanese garden is world class. It even features a lake stocked with Koi that kids enjoy feeding.
BadASS Chass
I had the best time here as a kid for the Japanese festival and now all grown up go for a walk in the lights for Christmas garden glow what a great time and so beautiful I highly recommend this for everyone
BESTOFYOU17
We normally enjoy the Garden Glow, but this year there were a few aggravating aspects that hindered our experience. We have gone a few times over the years and the light displays are exactly the same. For the steep $60 price tag for our family of four, you would expect more. They are currently under construction, so a lot of the areas are closed off and unaccessible. They seemed to overbook the tickets this year over years past, making it very crowded and nearly shoulder to shoulder. I understand that we bought our tickets on family night, which saved us a few dollars, but it wasn't worth the crowds.
J
Went for the origami in the garden event, and I have to say, I already want to go back. The food they sell there is good, the park is gorgeous, very nice to go with friends or family, and it seems like the events are all fun too. It was fun to look at all the amazing origami statues and see some of the paper displays. Hope to come back soon.
Dillon Browne
Wow! Went for a good friends wedding and was beyond impressed. What a beautiful space, and just magic in the sunset. They did an amazing job hosting the wedding, an unforgettable experience!
Shritam Mishra
Visited for Christmas Light Shows and it was spectacular. Spread across very large area, light show were amazing.
Lisa Milhaven
Superbly well-maintained garden with so many different beautiful areas. I went in early fall and there were still so many plants in bloom. I could spend all day here!
Andrew Gall
Great night at the Garden Glow! The event was very well done and fun for all ages. Most of the light displays are synced with music and are all very cool in their own way. There are tunnels of lights in some places, which make for great photo opps. They have fire pits for s'mores, but they close at 9 and adult hot chocolate drinks , but they shut down at 830. The entire display is open until 10, so it was disappointing those amenities closed early. The times could be different on weekends. Regardless, definitely worth visiting to get in the holiday spirit!
Eli G
I would give 5/5 stars if they made the gardens more wheelchair accessible, and/or had recreational wheelchairs for rent or reservation, and had more non-gendered/family bathrooms. Fantastic place. Great collection of trees and plants. I love to picnic at the Whitaker Fest on Wednesdays in summer for free! I smell the corpse flower when it blooms. I walk through the light displays in winter.
They recently remodeled the inside and it's all one level which is better than the two levels before.
They have a coffee place, and a restaurant place, a gift shop.
Parking lot or street parking.
Check the website for events, tickets, and when they offer free entry (Wednesdays in the summer)!
Glenn Goldman
Nice garden with different areas. Water lilies are blooming and were beautiful. Capacity controlled so it doesn’t get too crowded. Origami sculptures added a nice contrast to the gardens and flowers. The climate controlled garden was very well done.
Jennifer Rechlin
Incredibly beautiful and extensive gardens. One could easily spend an entire day exploring and still have more to experience.
Jason Barker
Glad we had a chance as a family to enjoy the Japanese festival. Well worth the $16.
Samar Acharya
Beautiful place with lots of varieties of plants and flowers. The climatron was the best but pretty much everything was awesome. Very much worth it esp. if you are plant and nature lover. Also the origami touch is great.
Lee Folino
Wonderful place to spend a day in St Louis! The Climatron is amazing, ponds with water lilies are like paintings, the Chihuli glass pieces add beautiful touches... and so much more. A must-see.
Christie Smith
The visitor center there was recently renovated. It looked AMAZING! What impressed me the most was the very TALL ceiling, the decorative lights and the Gift Shop itself. The garden looked very nice as well as the Japanese festival events there. We had a wonderful visit today!
SKC Bœn¡t'à
Love the seternity. Beautiful garden with amazing plants. Well maintained. Cooperative staff. Children discovery park we couldn't visit and it also come in paid tickets.
Poy Lert
Very good and neat botanical garden, but we visited on a very hot day (100 F). I think we should have visited in fall or spring instead.
Kiran Nicole Buckhannon
Like oh my goodness! The the Glow in the park Christmas light festival.... Beyond beautiful a lot of work got put in by the people that did that I want to say especially good thanks too my person I ran into that was awesome he was one of the employees that had put that up so massive props and full respect to the hard work that Dan and the other few people that were part of his crew and for the time to do that.. don't quote me on it I do believe if I remember correctly it might have been him and 4 others bc I was curious how many people it took.. and Shaws garden in the regular season is awesome too I love the Japanese garden or Chinese garden I'm not sure which one it actually is but I'm not going to be in there and say the Asian garden because yeah I mean yeah but the people of Asian descent style garden there you go LOL and my favorite thing is the tropical biodome with all the cool plants...! I haven't been there before the glow in the park for many many years since I was a little kid amazing memories love the maze though I think it's probably the fact that I'm taller I always thought you couldn't see over the hedges strongly love it beautiful time I'd recommend it any day not sure if they still do it but I think on certain days during the week if you go early enough it's free to get in but don't quote me cuz I was just from when I was a kid it might have been changed all now.. m
Fuchi Chuchi
We were fortunate to attend the holiday lights and we just loved it. It was a magical experience 💕 …
Denise Hignite
Amazingly beautiful. We got caught in a downpour which just made it that much more memorable! LOL
Daisy M
I was told by several people to visit the Botanical Garden while I was in STL as it is one of the best in the US. I am a flower nerd so this was a great stop. So many colors, shapes and sizes of flowers to see.
Other reviews complained about the temperatures, well, this is mostly outdoors so obviously the temperature is out of their control. It was hot when I went but I brought my water bottle and wore comfy shoes.
Additionally, if there are certain flowers you are wanting to see in bloom, know when they bloom in this region. The lilies were gorgeous, but the irises were not in bloom for example.
I can’t speak to most indoor spaces as many were still closed due to Covid but some were opening the following day (again your job to research this).
Great place. Cute gift shop too. You can honestly spend several hours or hurry through most spaces in 1 1/2 hours. I chose to spend almost 3 hours (stop to smell the roses, watch the fish and turtles in the lake/pond, bird watching, and just reading signs and looking around).
Isaac Finn
The most beautiful place I have been to. Everything is well made, and the whole place is so clean. We ended up walking over 4.5 miles! It was way bigger than I had expected, but the entirety of the park had flowers and all sorts of unusual things. I will be here again! (Also for you bathroom people, the bathrooms are great) Also, I was making a video of the scenery, so I didn't get too many pictures.
William Perry
Amazing gardens with sprawling varieties of plants. Great place to take the family for a picnic or even just to burn off energy. If you love spending time outdoors and the beauty of nature, this is an absolute must see! Every month different varieties of flowers bloom spring-fall!
R G
This was the first year I attended the Garden Glow. It was a nice display of lights and the people that orchestrated the event must have put in a great effort. I’m not sure that I felt wowed in any way but I could imagine that kids likely might be somewhat wowed.
Tuxedo Park B&B
Put off Garden Glow until the weather cooperated. It worth the wait! Plenty of parking, beautiful lights, fun snacks. We stayed and played for hours.
jason hardy
Every visit, I discover a new nook or secret garden that I somehow missed in my dozens of visits. One of my favorite places to recharge.
Mike Kunz
The lights for Christmas were very nice with many new additions from the last time we were there. The crowd was for the most part controlled and not bad.
Sean G
Went here during the day to spend some time when a friend came to visit. Always a delight, really interesting collection of plants. They do a great job of labeling and categorizing native plants so you can plan your own backyard flower garden. My only complaint is that water is $3 to $4 a bottle there, so make sure you bring your own water bottle.
Christopher Vinson
Enjoyed the gardens.
Staff was very friendly.
Visitors were kind and respectful.
So many gorgeous plants.
Really enjoy St. Louis
Brandon Bowman
One of the best Botanical Gardens that I have been too! Highly recommend to families looking to spend some quality time out doors. They even have a nice kids section where they can explore and climb. If you go to the kids section, pack a bathing suit as they have a small splash area. Overall, this is a must see sight.
James Michael Freeman
The botanical garden was one of the highlights of my recent trip to Saint Louis. Everything was immaculate. I'll let my photos explain how gorgeous this place is.
Will Langton
Beautiful in every season. Enjoy a long, scenic walk with family and friends — or stop and smell the roses at every turn.
Carton Steam
Garden glow is beautiful. Wonderful facility anytime of the year. Well maintained and organized.
Stephan L K
We make an attempt to visit this garden every time we visit family in Saint Louis. Such a beautiful place.
Jamal Williams
The Chinese Cultural Day was awesome. This was my first time attending this event. I always enjoy going to the Missouri Botanical Gardens.
Grant Langbauer
Visited during the origami exhibit / 4th July Weekend. Was busy but not crazy. Arrived around 10:45am. Parking was available [free] in parking lot. Appears there is an expansion project underway [near entrance]. We really enjoyed this botanical as it had soo many areas to explore!
Abby Bartlett
Wonderful gardens! I really enjoyed my visit here. If you’re a St. Louis city or county resident, make sure you bring proof of residency for that sweet admission discount ($6 vs $14). My favorite exhibit was the one with all the dug-up stumps - super interesting. This garden is a can’t-miss.
Samantha Fisher
Beautiful facility with so many types of plants and flowers.
Sonna Egbers
We love this place. They have great events.
They continue to make updates and upgrades to the entrance. New tram tours. New scooters to rent to get around in.
Warren T Nance
One of the most peaceful places in St. Louis. If you're visiting for the week or weekend stop here and take some of the best pictures possible.
Charles Long
You will not find a place that is more beautiful than this. Each season brings a new view of things
Marian Brockel
The new visitors center is beautiful and very handicap accessible. Had a good time
Ashley Rene Casey
If you're from out of town - visit. This garden is quite beautiful and relaxing. There are so many plant species, including some that are only a handful in the entire world. MoBot does a great job of not only providing a beautiful place to explore (and take pictures) but also to contribute to horticulture.
If you're local - buy a membership, festival level If you can. The festivals are all so cool and cultural and fun. If you have kids, it ends up paying for itself. And, when you have folks from out of town, you have a place to bring them.
There is a kids section but you have to pay for it (unless you have a certain level membership).
Jenny McGinness
This place is absolutely beautiful and we cant wait to go back again!!
Rick Noll
BEAUTIFUL, MAGNIFICENT, WONDERFUL... We spent two hrs there before they closed and could have spent 2 hrs more. Very relaxing and great get-away for a day.
Please take advantage of it if you can. If you live in St.Louis do not take it for granted. Be proud of this gift you have.
Patricia Sommer
Lovely setting but I must have been there in between things, bc most fountains were off & most flowerbeds empty even though the weather was unseasonably mild & I would have at least expected mums. Looked like they were preparing for holiday display. New building is beautiful though & the gardens are probably delightful in peak season. Enjoyed the trees & grounds nonetheless but was disappointed that the main house of the founder closed early the day I was there. A bit pricey for just walking around a park.
Kent Blunt
Great gardens with a ton of variety! Join the arbor clubs and get in free with membership!
Natalie Tull
Shaws Garden was what my grandmother called it...and it's one of the best things about St. Louis. Such a gorgeous place to walk around, explore and enjoy by yourself or with family or friends. I have gone all throughout my life and now go with our son and his boys. Even our 3 yr old grandson absolutely loves the Garden.
Tara B
I used to go here as a kid it was so beautiful. I went the other day and it kind of looks ran down. It's summer and most the flowers were not in bloom they're doing a lot of construction we took the tram ride which takes about 25 minutes so we got to look around. It's not as pretty as it used to be but still good if you want to walk around and look at flowers all day.
Lance Bakore
The garden, staff, and exhibits have much improved over the first time I went in 1993. The current construction looks like it will be a nice improvement. Lack of enough parking on site costs a star. Too many people had to walk over a mile in the rain from side streets.
Doug Stern
While neither Henry nor I is an expert in plants and whatnot, we both had an OUTSTANDING experience here. I remember it well...and would love to come back.
Nico la
I took my mom here in the spring a few years ago. It was absolutely gorgeous, we highly recommend it. It was lovely to walk around all the gardens and we will be going back the next time we are in St. Louis.
Simi
Beautiful gardens and exhibit space. Plenty of parking with overflow options as well. Really found the buildings on the property to be quite beautiful as well. Went for the evening Christmas lights, would love to go again in daylight to explore more!
Jeremiah Reising
My wife and I loved it, my two kids (B7, G5) did not. Bring some quarters to feed the coy fish. Unfortunately the dome was closed for us when we went, so we didn't get to see it. Lots of inspiration and beauty for any home gardener.
Zac Platt
We went to the Garden Glow and had a fantastic time! This is the second time that we have gone and it did not disappoint.
Dena Devall
Always lovely! This year they are having Origami in the Garden & it's great. We go at least once a year but I try to get there more often. They have a tram for those who can't walk the whole thing and a great area for kids. Go & enjoy!
Richard Nelson
Missouri should be proud to have such a treasure. It isn't just a "bunch of damn flowers". It's so much more than that. Take your lover there, walk slowly, and hold hands. It's a wonderful place any time of year. (Seriously guys.. perfect date place, ESPECIALLY during the holidays when it's all lit up. BONUS: The restaurant is AWESOME, and is NOT expensive as one might think. 14$ got an AMAZING meatloaf dinner!
Tyler Kelly Propst
My mom use to take me here and now I take my son! The kids area is a great place to let them run free and explore. If you are not a member they will charge for entrance. Botanical is beautiful any time of year! ♡
Karen Heath
Free entry, beautiful plants and flowers, the Japanese garden is elegant
Vicky Treffert
Okay, so I went with my Horticulture classes and instructor, for a field trip. We had a limited window but lemme tell ya, I'm coming back. Luckily for us, it was perfect weather for this field trip. Absolutely gorgeous, friendly staff. BRING. YOUR. CAMERA. Cannot stress that enough. Until next time, will have a better review
Helen Buck
We always go to the Japanese festival every year it's a beautiful and amazing cultural event in Missouri botanical garden is a fantastic job of welcoming our sister city Seiwa Japan.
jazmin marburger
Very pretty well taken care of plant life. Truly stunning
Ryan Glanzer
I was traveling solo and had an hour to kill in STL before my hotel room was ready, so I swung in here as it was rated the #1 local attraction on TripAdvisor. I was very surprised at how expansive this was. Normally plants don't interest me, but this was very well done and I could have spent well more than an hour there!
Zoey K
Beautiful garden with many different types of spaced to see. I really enjoyed the origami sculptures which I believe will be exhibited through October. I also loved the Climatron conservancy which houses many tropical species.
Kendra Marsh
Highly recommended getting a membership! The beauty of the park changes with the seasons, honestly keep discovering more of it each time I go. It’s impeccably maintained and cared for by master gardeners.
Garden glow open from Nov to early Jan, is a great date night. Lights are intricately strung in formations and dance throughout the garden in tune to Christmas music. Definitely a can’t-miss local holiday attraction!
Nate Coates
We could have easily spent a whole day there. I've never seen such a variety of trees before. Love this place
donna m
Went to garden glow..great weather and the music with the lights were awesime
Katharine Hutsler
Attended the Garden Glow yesterday evening and it was amazing! All of the light displays were wonderful and well placed and organized! Beautiful evening!
m j
We had such a wonderful time at the gardens last week, we hadn't been there in many years and the new additions are impressive. I would ask they consider a senior discount for all seniors not just the ones in the county. $14 each to get in is a little more then we expected after the 100 mile trip one way and the price of gas. I would understand one senior price for those in the county and another for those outside the county and would personally find that very helpful. Over all the garden is as beautiful as ever and we are blessed to have such a place in driving distance. Everyone's was kind and the place immaculate. I highly recommend everyone visit.
el jefe delito
Nice large outdoor space to get lost and see a lot of plants. Use Google Maps or you'll never find what you're looking for. No Senior Discount for out of towners tho.
Steve Vogel
An annual membership to this place is only $75 for two people. It is a very well run, historical St. Louis treasure. It's also recently been remodeled. Be sure to make this an annual visit or more, like many do with The Zoo, The Art Museum, and more. It's a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
Keith Riney
First time ever going to the Garden Glow.
Had a wonderful time and loved all of the lights on display
Tessa Dengler
Holiday theme Garden Glow lights. Firepits for overpriced s'mores. They sold out of hot cocoa by 8 pm. Crowded on Weekend. Plenty of wheelchair access and restrooms
Kevin Hacker (Khacker)
This is a great place to walk and see the flora at different seasons. Today was a just a day to walk relax and enjoy the day. Update: 8/26/22. Today we visited the new entrance for the garden. Awesome. This botanical wonder always impresses. The quietness of the Japanese Garden. The Climatron, note they moved the Chihuly chandelier to the Climatron. The Sassafrass restaurant got an upgrade as well as the gift shop. All these upgrades share space with a new membership and Information area. This update is what an Internationally known botanical garden needs and deserves. Thanks to the philanthropy of the Taylors and all St. Louis members. Enjoy the pictures.
Austin Duncan
Such a beautiful landscape, you could wander the grounds aimlessly for hours. The sheer number of different plant species is unimaginable. The price of admission is very reasonable. Definitely one of my favorite places in St. Louis.
Heather Fielder
Beautiful grounds and friendly staff. A bit pricey but worth going every once and a while.
Right now there is an exhibit called Origami in the Gardens included with admission. See the photo below. The sculptures are wonderful!
Tip: Bring quarters to feed the koi fish and turtles in the pond.
Amber Buck
Amazingly beautiful gardens. The amount of work and planning that goes into maintaining these gardens astounds me. The Japanese garden is probably my favorite part, but the entire grounds are worthy of your time.
Matt Frierdich
This place is awesome, especially if you have kids! It has changed so much over the last few years, and it is all to make things more accessible and family friendly. In addition to the impressive array of plants (and shade for the summer!), the kids area is worth the price. There is tons to do and available for a wide range of ages and abilities. We had a great time and thought it was a really fun place to try again (and again!)
Tiffani Kraemer
Missouri Botanical Gardens is a gem of St. Louis Missouri that is among the treasures of my childhood memories. It's celebration of culture and natural beauty has been a significant contribution in the shaping of my values, interests, and goals in positive ways. And now I am blessed and honored to be able to share this piece of art with my children. I hope to hold this place in our hearts for generations and years to come. Thank you Missouri Botanical Gardens.
Julie H
Just an amazing and large botanical garden. Huge variety of plants- water features - garden styles. The Iris gardens (Spring) and lily gardens (Summer) are not to be missed. Great festivals and shows too. The climatron runs year round.
Kristin Thompson
This is one of the best places to go in Saint Louis. It is beautiful year round and has something for everyone. I’m excited to see the new visitor center completely built.
ONE WAY
I remember sneaking in through metal bars 50 years ago at age of 6 running around with friends from Russel st! Playing in water fountain on hot summers!
I gladly pay when I grew up and still do... so beautiful! Peaceful!
Forgive me Missouri Botanical Garden I didn't know any better
Andrea Shirley
My 1st year attending GLOW.
It was beautiful and the weather was nice.
Cheryl Ann
I took my chances and paid in person to avoid the online processing fee. Crowded enough, but still so many places of solitude. The gardens are incredible and must see for your St Louis stop! No parking fee, but if unable to find a spot on site, plenty of off street parking that is also free.
Wendy Bade
A beautiful winter wonderland in lights, all while set to music.
JL Ross
TIL plants communicate with each other. Visit the resonance exhibit at the museum on the campus to learn how.
Rebecca Peterson
Visited the Gardens to check out the new entrance. Beautiful building. We also enjoyed the 1 pm docent tour of the garden. We've been members for many years, but have never taken the opportunity to go on a tour. Really learned a lot and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Ken Katerberg
Autumn is a great time to see the Japanese gardens. Since there are normally no flowers, the tree leaf colors stand out better.
Update early September 2021: many fall flowers were still blooming, and the Origami-inspired sculptures were fun to see. We had a good time.liking forward to the renovations coming up the entrance!
Jeremy Rhodes
I've never been to a garden quite as expansive or with so many varieties of plants. Wonderful trip. Kids were good during the trip, but you will need to find some ways to entertain them while doing all the walking.
c l a r i s s a
Absolutely beautiful! I went for the Holiday lights event and it so amazing!
Ryan Floyd
An awesome way to spend a few hours in St. Louis. Especially if you enjoy horticulture and nature. The Climatron is awesome! Seeing massive Rainforest plants and the waterfalls were gorgeous. The Japanese garden was also stunning. And of you get too hot, spend some time wondering paths in the English forest garden to cool down. Definitely worth the time.
Rebecca Ritter
It's always a magical time at the Garden glow. The evening goes so fast but it's so fun you don't even realize the time spent. The photo ops for family and friends are always a huge Plus. The blue tree remains my absolute favorite.
Gajen Jan
What a beautiful day at the Missouri Botanical Garden today. It's kind of crowded but not bad at all. Amazing place if you are fan of learning plants (Botany 🪴). Lots of beautiful trails for walking around. …
David Rigsby
LeeAnn gave my Mother and I a much appreciated and very informative tour of a majority of the grounds. Then encouraged us to roam around freely and enjoy ourselves. Such a beautiful place with rich history and bright looking future.
Andrew Smith
We attended the best of Missouri days. The vendors were all wonderful, and the garden has always is beautiful. The only thing my mom does not. Like is the new building, she likes the old fashion looking buildings.
Mark H
If you've lived here forever or if you're just visiting St. Louis for the weekend The Missouri Botanical Gardens are a must see. They have gorgeous events that are accessible and inexpensive and if you're a resident sometimes free! You can learn a bit about plants or just marvel at the stunning architecture and the vegetation that resides there. No matter what season you'll enjoy your time there! Psst... Never miss The Garden Glow!
Heather Peterson
Gorgeous. Staff were friendly for purchasing tickets, in the gift store, and pointing out the bananas we missed in the Climatorium. (We loved the Climatorium, which was surprisinlgy comfortable on a hot day.) Don't forget to look up, or you'll miss some gorgeous flowers.)We were pleased to see the children's area with a place to play and will recommend this place to older relatives who could use the tram.
Brian O'Shaughnessy
World class botanical gardens. Lots of great events that happen throughout the year. Also just good for a walk on any given day.
Mary Ann Young Schulte
This place is a St Louis tradition and favorite. Beautiful. Just attended the Garden Glow.
Sarah Hemond
Missouri botanical gardens is my favorite place to visit when I come home. Still so much beauty in the Fall. I'm a little saddened by the latest renovations / changes to the building, which do not fit or enhance a garden atmosphere.
Brandice Huffman
Went to the Japanese festival. It rained all day and we came prepared with umbrellas. Was very disappointing thou. Most of the events were rained out, very little places for people to stand out of the rain and the vendors were overwhelmed. Paid for tickets for the Japanese festival and the best I got was barely hearing the drum performance. No food. No souvenirs. No shows or events. Definitely not worth going. Oh, and it took us an hour to park. Spent a total of 2 1/2hrs at the gardens. Not worth it.
Jana LaRue
This is hands down the best botanical garden I have ever been to. It is worth a trip to St Louis just for this garden. I can’t recommend it enough to everyone. It’s the best way to spend any sunny day for sure.
avida zarei
It was one of the most beautiful places on earth you should visit. You need at least 3 to 4 hours to be able to visit the whole garden. Btw they have a special place for children too that costs 5 dollars for each child and free for adults.
Dustin Clary
This place is great wish it wasn't so much to visit but I guess it has to be to keep up with all the beautiful things my favorite part was all the koi in the huge pond I loved it
Lissha Westmoreland
This place is incredible. I will go again and again for years to come and they are even expanding the park currently. This is a gem in St. Loius I did not know about. Kids 13 and under are free, adults are $14. Give yourself time to take in the scenery, at least 3 hours.
psych_nurse mama
Terrific collection. Peaceful wonders of nature enjoyed by all.
Brandon
Beautiful place. You could spend hours in this place. There is so much to see and everything is gorgeous. I do recommend purchasing tickets online ahead of time so you don't get turned away on busy days when they sell out.
President Camachojr
Definitely worth taking the time to spend a whole day enjoying everything, when I went there were a lot musical bands/performances. Even Without whatever events they going on still a great place to visit. - 1 star because restrooms are yuck but it gets lots visitors so...
Lynn Edgar
Beautiful lights and the perfect night for a proposal. It couldn't be a better backdrop.
Scott Perdue
The Garden Glow is a must-do each December!
Robert Washburn
Wonderful botanical garden. World class Japanese agardwn
Snowwhite Nixon
Loved all the beauty. Staff was super helpful and the gardens are beyond well maintained. The origami statues are a wonderful addition in things to try and find around the garden
Tiffany Kasmarcik
Had a wonderful time. The tropical plant planetarium was our favorite. I was surprised at how many roses were still in bloom. The new entrance area was opened and absolutely beautiful.
Carol Burton
An absolutely fabulous place. Be prepared to spend hours here, both for the outdoor experience and going through the Shaw home. We're from out of state, but this is my third visit here. Every season has something to offer. So beautiful.
Dirk J Borgman
Great gardens. This is a well developed garden with a lake and many water features.
Fake Person
Adding this review a little late but is was super beautiful highly recommend!
Gentle John
Expansive gardens with huge variety of plants, flowers and herbs. It is well worth visiting if you like gardens. Their special exhibits are fantastic like their chihuly & origami exhibits.
Autumn Smith
Botanical garden is great overall, love it. However all of the vending machines were down/broken and we had a hungry/thirsty family who had to trek all the way back to the front for a water. Also went to the kids area and although it's open again with time slots, many things are still closed such as several of the rope bridges, no boats in the water flow area, the treetop areas, and the pretend market. Was still worth going and had a good time, but get drinks before you start!
Cadence Giddings
Beautiful gardens, a great place to go walking during nice weather. The tram tour is fun.
Alyssa Wors
One of my favorite places in St Louis! Whether you're going to one of their many festivals (Japanese Festival, Best of Missouri Market, etc.), the Garden Glow during Thanksgiving and Christmas, or just for a leisurely stroll through the gardens, it's a must see!
Earlene Bonin
We go on Wednesday's to walk around it's free before noon for seniors that live in St. Louis County and City. You have to show your drivers license or proof of residency.
Christine Vanwyhe
Beautiful place. A perfect way to alleviate winter blues.
Desmond Seananners
14$ entry, 3 hours and we didn't get to see everything
The “YouBoost” Channel
A December visit. We really enjoyed the Holiday flower show. Plus the Climatron is great all year around. We will do the Garden Glow next year.
Sarah J
Lovely botanical gardens. I've been to gardens that are prettier, with more variety, and are more engaging, but maybe this can be blamed on COVID and just the fact that a lot of stuff wasn't blooming yet. I didn't love that I saw staff approach people (who were around no one at all) twice for taking off their masks for a quick photo. Just seems unnecessary and unfriendly since we're all outside and way more than 6 feet from anyone else. One more thing - there were about 100 signs for the same type of daffodil planted all together in the same bed, but then other plants would just go unnamed. That was frustrating.
Adam Wright
Most incredible place. One of my favourite botanic gardens in the world. Some renovations being done but doesn’t at all affect the endless plant displays available. I visit here every time I’m in St. Louis.
Amber Schultz
There's a beautiful array of flowers everywhere you look, the grounds are immaculately kept, all in all one of the prettiest places in Missouri! A must-see for any visitor!
Yvonne Lowe
I hadn't been in a couple years and decided to see the Garden Glow Christmas lights. It was such a neat experience. We visited the gift shop then got hit cocoa and coffee and headed outside. We had a drink and snacks and sat by the fire pit watching the Christmas lights blink to the music.
Jane Santucci
Great place to learn and relax. Kid friendly.
Stacy Bliesener
Beautiful to see but you need an entire day to see it all. We spent about 3 hours there and I was so sore from the walk. Gift shop was crazy expensive, unfortunately we didn't buy anything because the cheapest item was definitely not worth the price.
Jamie E
Garden glow disappointment this year. We’ve gone each year for five years. It progressively gets more expensive, more people, with less interactive activities such as magnetic snowmen, twelve days of Christmas, maze, etc. This year the highlight for us (maze) was closed. The excuse was “snow.” For as much as we pay each year for a membership, there is no reason the paths in the maze couldn’t have been shoveled and salted like the rest of the gardens. Very disappointed. Hope one day they bring back all of the activities that were available in 2019.
Pat Boggeman
It's always beautiful no matter the season. A wonderful place to find inspiration for your own garden. I love the vertical vegetable garden
A wonderland to walk through.
Arkiemah Darien
I always have a great experience. This day I brought my son here as a science field trip. He had a great time and learned a lot about plants and animals as well.
Tara Allen 51
Such beautiful gardens with so much Chihuly glasswork throughout the entire place. This is one of the most chill botanical gardens I've been to where you can find so many places to sit and enjoy the beauty around you, whether it be watching the sun around the pond, sitting in the trees, or within the flowers. You will definitely need to take your time here.
Missi Rochman
Wonderful time at the garden glow...a must see experience if you haven't been...hot cocoa and cookies were a nice touch! Missouri botanical gardens has fantastic events!
MeLynda Williams
The dome was beautiful! It was neat to see jackfruit, cocoa, cashew, and allspice trees/plants, as well as the gorgeous bloomed flowers.
I can't wait to be able to return during summer months when their outdoor gardens are in bloom.
Elizabeth Winder
Loved everything about it. I wanted to take pictures of everything I saw. It was a very enjoyable day! Looking forward to coming back soon!
Logan Schoch
What an incredible place. Acres and acres of gorgeous landscape. Every type of plant you could imagine from tropical, to mediterranean, to the high desert. The plants and landscape are manicured perfectly. I saw so many exotic plants that I didn't even know existed. Each area with a different theme and rustic buildings/decor makes for enjoyable walking while taking in the scenery even if you aren't interested in plants. It is a perfect place for photography with beautiful backdrops. The two cafes on site have a great menu selection to enjoy while you are there. It is a great place to take your family and let the children run around while exploring the children's discovery area. It is quite a large plot of land that will take multiple visits to see everything. They also feature music and light art events throughout the year that you can bring a picnic to and enjoy. It is definitely worth the price of admission. I will definitely return!
Ashocki RAM
Absolutely spectacular me and the kids enjoyed it!
Kris Peterson (krisp - she, her)
MOBOT is always beautiful and Garden Glow is a highlight of the year for me and my family.
It’s not cheap, but you can take your time, there are plenty of photo ops, and hot beverages to keep you warm and toasty.
Mark Snowden
Visited for Garden Glow, which was great as usual. However, the animation projection on the building wasn't as good as in previous years. Loved the new building, first time visiting since the opening of the new building.
Tom Warfield
Wow, this place is amazing! I've been to several botanical gardens and this one is the best.
The restaurant was also better than most when considering ' museum ' type environment.
Wickedly Purrfect
Beautiful garden to stroll around. We went during the peak cherry blossoms and tulips bloom. Hopefully the Children's Garden will reopen soon.
Todd Ball
My wife and I visited on a very nice day and we were blown away. It is the perfect place to take a relaxing walk. We enjoyed seeing different layouts of gardens, beautiful plants, trees, flowers , and bushes. We took our time, and at several places we spent hours sitting and relaxing. Even though we live three hours away we are considering a membership. I would recommend stopping in if you are in the St Louis area. If you live in the area and have never been you are missing out on an gem.
ladybug
loved the light show! careful with the fireball hot cocoa theyre pretty generous with the fireball 😂
it was a really fun walk through and i loved seeing the old house and the projections. 10/10
Erez Haluf
It is a Fall festival, it is one of our favorite places to visit during fall in STL.
Shandi Greve Penrod
Always a treat to visit the Botanical Gardens. Right now, visitors can find and marvel at the metal origami structures. Some of them really look like the texture of paper! Stunning, really. Very detailed, for what started as paper.
John Dlabal
Completely worth multiple visits! The grounds are perfectly manicured, the buildings are pure aesthetic and the flowers are stunning. This is instagram heaven!
Aman Mandal
The Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis is a National Historic Landmark and a center for science, conservation, education and horticultural display - widely considered one of the top three botanical gardens in the world. It features 79 acres of horticultural displays, including indoor conservatories and demonstration, formal and international gardens.
This breathtakingly gorgeous botanical garden showcases the beauty of the natural world. The gardens are very well-maintained, and during COVID, everything is clearly marked with directions and indications for physical distancing. The Visitor Center is under construction, but they clearly direct people to get to the garden. There are Chihuly sculptures throughout the garden as well.. There are so many different species of plants here that it could be mind-boggling, except that it's all super peaceful and calming, and allows us to enjoy the gardens at our own pace.
Terry Batts
Beautiful light show everyone in the holiday spirit. The plants is awesome they just opened up a new side to so come and enjoy the season to be jolly
David Mikovits
Lovely place for a long walk. If you are from out of town and a member of a different garden, it's worth it to check the reciprocal garden list and see if your membership can be used here as well.
Shannon Bellemare
Our first time for the Holiday Glow exhibition. This is a must see experience.
Hannah Franko
I have been visiting the Botanical Garden since childhood. Their landscaping and collection of plants is still the best I have seen compared to every other garden I have had the pleasure to walk through.
They currently have a wonderful visiting sculpture garden showing the complexity if origmi, definitely worth seeing.
Sajay Padron
Garden Glow is amazing. There are a lot of light/music shows. Fire pits to roast some marshmallows and drink some hot chocolate.
There are plenty of hand sanitizer stations, everyone was wearing masks. It is a very nice activity to do outside, and you will feel very safe.
Michael Wooff
Wonderful! Such a beautiful place to go for Christmas lights!
Maelca Duncan (MAELCA)
Biggest botanical garden I’ve ever seen a lots of different kind of flowers, and the orchid show I love it, first time I’ve seen different kind orchids different color and the petals so big , and it’s amazed me the bonsai trees live long years ago highly recommended
Oranda Merckling
This was my first visit to the botanical gardens and I must say it was so very beautiful!
I hope to visit post covid to experience everything that was blocked off like the tree house in the Japanese garden and stray walkways.
Highly recommend!
Maggie Foster
Many years ago, I used to visit here with my friends and family. In High School, we took a trip and I learned much about native species, I also lost my class ring (1979) here... I still remember this place with great fondness.
kristen malone
This is one of my favorite places to go! It’s beautiful any time of year. The Japanese gardens are probably my favorite. They have a good selection of plants (including succulents and cacti) in their gift shop (which was way bigger than I expected). There are lots of events here too throughout the year.
Gloria Bain
This is my favorite get away place! It has something for everyone year round. Their children's garden will delight everyone! It's over 80 acres of different themes, from Japanese to English and so much more, it's hard to describe! A wonderful restaurant, great gift shop and year round classes of all sorts and the flower shows they put on along with the different flower societies are spectacular!
Antonia Schultz
My son's school had a field trip to the Botanical Garden and now he's really into watching his chickpea growth. The students planted chickpeas as part of the field trip when it came to learning all about seeds. We were given some free time with the kids after the planned activities and they wanted to find the Venus Fly Traps. They were disappointed by the smaller size of them in this location, but they loved exploring the grounds! Overall we had a wonderful time and the staff was so friendly and helpful. We plan to go back for a family outing!!
Melanie V
So beautiful! So much to see! It's very large, but not hard to walk it. They do have tram tours if you prefer to ride rather than walk. Guided tours are also available. Admission is very reasonable at $14 per adult. Lots to see and if you love unique plants, trees & flowers from all over the world, you'll be in heaven!!
B Biswas
Never a dull moment at this beautiful garden. Always amazing - rain or shine. Came back after a few years - still the same awe inspiring garden.
The COVID related precautions are sensible and welcome. The garden keeps a track of how many people entered, etc. Frequent hand sanitizing stations, and all guests wearing masks are a welcome scene.
The garden is getting ready to wibd down from summer and getting ready for fall and winter. Still plenty of blooms and such. The butterflies are everywhere!
Kara Dunkel
Gorgeous wreath silent auction and many wintry displays to enjoy! The Climatron was a trip around the world in foliage and the Mouse Ear Poinsettia did not disappoint!! Yummy salads at the Sassafras!!
Anthony Arns
Orchid nights was absolutely fantastic. The colors and variety were amazing. The staff did an excellent job of meeting everyone's needs and keeping the attendance to a max number turned out perfectly. Everyone seemed to have a great time and the live band was a really nice touch. To top it all off there is a phenomenal Chihuly in the foyer!
János Nagy (Jangce)
It's a lovely place, especially after a summer shower. The smells are just good, the flowers are awesome, it's very a well kept garden!
Rudi Hodge
A friend and I came to St. Louis for the day and we visited! This place has so many neat things to look at and explore. We went on both floors and explored the garden outside. It was lovely. The inside on the first floor had a beautiful plant sanctuary right inside the building under the skylight. I will definitely come back here.
Amanda Kriss
I find myself at a loss for words when trying to describe how much The Gardens mean to me. How no others I have visited have compared. How much I respect and admire the staff.
I have been going to the gardens ever since I can remember. Over the last 31 years I have seen it evolve and change always for the better.
My Christmas present for many years in a row was a garden pass for the year. During my darkest times the beauty and peace walking, writing, working, napping, and meditating here have helped me through.
I wish I could live inside its walls.
Adrianne Martin
Always beautiful. Worth a winter walk.
Andrew Darling
A beautiful place to see when the weather is nice. Admission is a little expensive at $14 a person but not completely unreasonable considering the time you can spend here. Staff are friendly and eager to help with questions. The Japanese garden is gorgeous when the cherry blossoms bloom in late March and early April. Water fountains line the walking paths and there are many convenient places to sit and rest if you need to. I always enjoy taking friends from out of town to visit here.
Chris Lane
Very Nice place to go even if youre not into Botany. If you go on days when they have festivals expect it to be packed. All the fairs, and activities they offer here is great
Adithya “AJ” Naresh
On of the best botanical gardens I've seen in the US. Must see if you are visiting St.Louis.
I particularly enjoyed the home garden section which provided a lot of ideas on how to plant different vegetables along with flowers and other companion plants.
Weather in August was excellent too.
This place is huge, so be sure to schedule the whole day for it.
Carlos Rivera
Great garden! The staff is friendly, the grounds are clean, and it invites you to relax. There is a lot to see and do. If you have kids they have a park (it’s cost extra) for them. It’s worth it to wear them out.
Jen Ulasiewicz
There is so much to see here! You can spend an entire day walking the grounds here enjoying the stunning gardens. There are plenty of events going on year round and it changes with the seasons so coming back at different times of the year is a must! :)
Laura Bonneville
This garden has so much to offer. We went when about a third of the garden was closed d/t COVID-19 and renovations - I can't imagine how long it would have taken if we were able to go through the whole garden. I'll be back next Spring!
Alika McGuire
Love the Japanese festival, the cherry blossoms, and the Garden Glow. I like the renovations too.
Phil Patterson
One of my favorite places to take a morning, noon, afternoon, or evening (only on Wednesday’s in the summer) walk. Wind through different gardens each blooming at different times, anytime of year. The tram tour provides great historical information and plant and garden specifics. Bring your camera or use your smartphone to document all the beauty!
Benjamin Stone
Strongly encourage you to buy a membership to the Garden. They have special events all year long. Beautiful place to visit!
Bill Dauben
I was trying to figure out something that my daughter would like to go to. So I convinced her to go on an adventure but wouldn't tell her what it was. When we arrived We parked a couple blocks away, because I didn't know any better.
We arrived at the main gate and walked in to get out tickets. Nice 1/2 price discounts for local residents which is nice.
Going anytime here is a treat, but going in the early spring is definitely my recommendation. Everything in bloom, the smell of the flowers, and the lush green grass. Absolutely stunning.
Taylor Vinson
One of my favorite places in STL. Very large garden and really pretty during the spring. It’s a great place to take pictures and go on a date.
Clara Murphy
Had a blast exploring here! The gardens were stunning and very well maintained. Everything was organized very nicely and interesting to walk through. The day we went there was an event going on and it was pretty chaotic, still very enjoyable though. The gift shop sells plants that are super affordable and of all sizes! Highly recommend going and checking out!
Ashley Moses
Always a nice visit, great time of year to go and see the cherry blossoms. Easy to reserve tickets and social distancing is done well.
B R
Most relaxing place in st louis
DIANA CALDERON
Beautiful totally a gorgeous place
Anoop Kasa
A beautiful place which is very well maintained and organized. People who likes plants, nature and gardens, this is the best place to bring them. you could literally spend hours here, there's so much to look around. there is even a store inside where you could buy plants and other souvenir items. plants are decently priced. would definitely come here often.
Roxana Ortiz
Loved this! So many plant varieties from all parts of the world. Only bad thing is the heat was exhausting so we couldn’t see much but what we did we enjoyed. Took the tram which was about 25 to 30 minute ride but you definitely enjoy it much more by walking. Would definitely recommend!
Mike
Went to the orchid show today with my wife, seem like it was smaller than years past but the flowers were absolutely beautiful.
Caitie Forrest
It is a beautiful park and well maintained. It's still the off season so it wasn't overly crowded(with people or flowers!). The magnolias, daffodils and tulips were all in bloom and lovely.
My daughter loved the Children's Garden area which is really a large play area. It is an additional price, but 3 and under is free.
We will be going back in a few weeks to see it all again, and to see what all we missed from this trip.
Bob Schwartz
Go..this is one of the best places in the city..it costs a little to get in, but just go. Feed the koi. Enjoy the regular events if you're a local. It's truly a gem and the city is lucky to have it.
Gretchen A.
I love the gardens, always have...... and though the special light up events they have now throughout the year are most beautiful....I wish the costs for tickets were more affordable for a wider variety of the public to experience the events. I LOVE anything sparkly and pretty lights and beautiful gardens, but the cost of tickets prevents me from visiting the events more frequently.
Again, such a beautiful place ..... I'd definitely recommend a visit to anyone with an interest in horticulture or simply a peaceful beautiful place
Gerome Q. Banks
Absolutely gorgeous but all the buildings were closed, most of the exhibits were closed, and many of the paths were closed. I would go back after COVID but definitely wouldn't pay $14 while it's mostly closed down again.
Jerry Bice
Went to the glow exhibit and it was magical
Marissa Murray
I wish we had more time to explore this place! Such a wide variety of plans and art. It was very hot on our trip, I reccommend visiting the botanical gardens on a cooler day.
Clint Soldan
I've been to botanical gardens all over the world and I think this one is the best. The reason is the size and scale. It is large enough to walk through in about three hours so it is not overwhelming. Since it is sectioned off it different themed gardens, it keeps your attention and you're entertained. Very family friendly. Lots of garden shows such as the Garden Glow at Christmas as well as Japanese and Chinese festivals. Higher memberships allow you to bring in guests to the garden for free. Great way to entertain out of town guests.
Bill Brown
The Missouri Botanical Gardens are a great place to go visit. It has wide winding Trails wrapping around ponds and Gardens representing different parts of the world. The gardens are littered with sculptures waterfalls and various displays. It is wheelchair accessible and there is a shuttle to take you to different parts of the Gardens. They have a great gift shop with an education area for kids and adults. They also have special events throughout the year. If you are anywhere near St. Louis the Missouri Botanical Gardens are well worth the drive.
If you like trains and poinsettias then you should see the Garden Land Express! Beautiful display.
GJM 0627
Excellent place to visit in St Louis. Miles of paths and greenhouses, with numerous exhibits, such as Victorian Home and gardens, geodesic dome "Climatron", Japanese Gardens, Children's area, many acres of beautiful plantlife and flowers. Special events such as Garden Glow, Christmas Train exhibits, Chihuly glass in the gardens, are wonderful. Their restaurant is also good, with reasonable prices, as well.
Kassy McMichael
Such a beautiful place and tons of interesting plants to see. Visiting in October there were a lot of "transitions" for holiday events happening on the grounds bit we still enjoyed our visit and can't wait to go back when it snows and in the spring for different scenery!
Lucinda Hamilton
Absolutely gorgeous! A must see for all ages. Visit at different times of the year to get the full experience.
Reno
Garden offers special exhibits throught the year and also offers many indoor exhibits making it a great visit in any season or weather. The exhibits include historical, art, cultural as well as botanical themes. A large gift store and two restaurants, as well as children's activities and gardening advice add to the fun!.
Evan T
If you live in st louis its definitely worth a trip ($14 tickets otherwise) Easy to get lost inside of this timeless garden. Exploring gardening styles from all over. Especially beautiful Japanese architecture. Currently undergoing construction and alot of the buildings are closed. But still a beautiful getaway definitely recommend.
Matt Alvino
Beautiful, pristinely kept gardens with a taste of nearly every ecosystem on earth. Not a ton I can say to describe the botanical gardens, so look at my excessive amount of pictures that only cover like a 3rd of the place. Every time we go we find a new nook we never saw before.
Great way to get steps on a Saturday morning. I say Saturday, because that is the day, plus Wednesday morning, city and county residents get in for free. Have to be there before noon.
Kayla Christine
I've lived here my whole life and never have made it here until today! I was missing out. This place is beautiful! I gave my experience a four star though, because even though we paid full price A LOT of stuff was closed. I understand why, but for everything that was closed, there should have been some sort of price cut, or warning before paying. It was still an amazing experience though, and I know the pandemic is causing a lot of stress on everyone so I totally get it. Would recommend to anyone.
Deb Boylan
Always one of my favorite places on earth. I wish all the "busy Ness " would be over. Each time I have been in the last 2 years, the leafblowers, little motorized carts have made so much noise. One of the reasons I used to love this place was the quiet. I remember when the workers used rakes. My vote, ban leafblowers in mobot.
Erin Paul (xSilverMoonscar)
The Bontanical Garden is so serene. Each garden is so well kept and must take so much dedication. My first visit was in 2014 and I've been coming back ever since. I am now a member and love attending the festivals! Thank you for making this a wonderful place to relax and visit.
Bree C
Absolutely beautiful. We spent about 3 hours here and STILL didn't see everything. The Japanese Gardens and Climatron areas were some of our favorites. I highly recommend visiting and giving yourself as much time as possible so you can really enjoy it.
Maria Ashby
The Botanical Garden is magical. It's easy to spend a warm day relaxing and enjoying all of the plants and flowers. There is so much mystery and majesty to take in. I love to check out the various buildings on site, and the many different gardens. My favorite is always changing, but the herb garden is most interesting to me. They grow every herb you can think of! The landscaping makes me feel like I am on royal property. This is a must visit for garden lovers!
Britt (Mamacita)
Best place ever. Just go and experience it. Theres so much to see and do during different seasons. The lantern festival, Japanese festival, music festival in the summer. They have something in winter where the whole garden is beautifully lit. It's a must see. But summertime on Wednesday nights there's live music you can bring a picnic, wine, or purchase your own there, enjoy the live music, walk the park after hours. Still pretty family friendly. It's a free event they offer here. These kinds of things are what makes our city great and brings us together, but no one talks about that on social media or in the news. So come support botanical gardens and support a better, happier community!
Amanda Albert
The garden glow was absolutely magical!
Justin Carroll
The Missouri Botanical Garden is my favorite place in St. Louis. I could spend hours looking at every single plant. They also have a lot of great events and festivals through out the year that are worth going.
Austin MacDonald
Was here for the holiday light show through the garden. Everything was wonderful except for the very beginning, they made everyone wait outside in freezing temps and windy weather before letting people inside.
Julia Melatis
As always it was lovely! We had our first visit inside the new museum in the Victorian Garden. The ceiling mural is stunning! It is original to the building and was beautifully restored. MoBot is a favorite place of mine to go walking!
Karen Brutzman
Beautiful! My friend and I are traveling from Washington state. We had about 4 hours to spend here, so we started with a Tram ride. Our tour guide (Craig) did a wonderful job sharing the history of the gardens while pointing out some of the features we could explore in detail on foot. What a lovely afternoon!
Peter Packer
An amazing place for persons of all ages you don't have to just be interested in gardens or botanicals to enjoy coming here highly recommend becoming a member of you're a local thier extra event such as glow are out of.this world and amazing just like their equally awesome staff
Mark Zeman
The Botanical Garden is one of the city's top attractions, particularly in the Spring, when many of the flowers are in bloom, as well as during the many festivals and special events it hosts. Allow plenty of time to enjoy your stroll so you're not hurried. The gift shop has lots of distinctive, cool things too. There is an enclosed greenhouse for orchids, as well as the enormous glass geodesic dome, the Climatron.
Sazzad Hossain
Very beautiful place. If you are interested to know about trees and gardening great place to visit. There are some small museums inside the botanical garden. We enjoyed a lot. Ticket price is worth.
Char Char Jack~
Absolutely beautiful and brilliant. We took a bus tour to the gardens and everyone had a great time. You could easily spend an entire day exploring the grounds.
Steven Díaz Zalduondo
Spectacular!
This place is gigantic and beautiful! It was peaceful and there were so many wonderful views of all the different exhibition of plants, trees and lake.
Btw. At the entrance you can buy food for the duckies and fish.
Steven Hung
Awesome gardens, lots of great variety. Worth the trip if you are in town. The tickets are cheaper if you are a St. Louis resident. Also they host some free music events during the summer that is worth checking out. Parking can be a little tricky as it can get full quite quickly.
Lindsay Aiello
79 acres of gorgeous! You can't possibly see everything in a short day trip so plan multiple hours. Our tour was said to be 1 hour, it lasted 2 and to be honest, they still weren't able to cover everything. The tours are free and ran by awesome knowledgeable volunteers everyday. The have night activities too, like the Flora Borealis exhibition. The garden collection is one of the largest in the world. The history of the place is interesting to learn about, especially Henry Shaw. Make sure to visit the climatron, museum and old library.
Amy Workman
Covid special review: Still fantastic. Few things to note are getting tickets online ahead of time, masks required even outside, and most inside areas are closed as well as the Children's Garden and drinking fountains. With that in mind make sure you're ready for the weather and bring lots of water, sun protection, and snacks especially for kids. Fish food is purchased as you come in electronic payment only (2 bags for $3). Other little things are closed such as the walkways onto the lake in the Japanese Garden and the sheep are roped off. I was disappointed in what I knew what my toddler was missing, but she didn't and had a great time.
Brandon Eddy
I can't knock the gardens because I went in March. In the tropical plant dome it was warm and vibrant. I will have to come back in Spring to see all the fountains running and plants in bloom.
arin smith
What a great time at Ghouls in the Garden this year!

They do a great job with the orchid show to introduce some art, educational content and a magnificent splash of colors with orchids in bloom.
This annual event is a great way to forget about winter and enjoy a tropical setting. You can stroll afterwards through the gardens or swing by their shop to get a souvenir or a plant for home.

This place is amazing! The different regions are clear and each one is beautiful. We spent all day here and it wasn't enough. The food at the restaurant was okay, but that's not the focus or the purpose. Any restaurant is an added bonus to a perfect place. The whole family loved this place.

I absolutely love MoBot! I go every year for the Japanese Festival as well as other events/ occasions. Each time I am greeted by happy staff members. I love to go during the spring when the majority of the gardens are finished budding and blossoming/ blooming. I have gone on Wednesday nights for the live music which is cool because it’s open to the public and you can bring food/ beverages and relax under a shady tree. I went to Garden Glow for the first time this year and it was nice. I wished for a larger display, maybe over the water or something, but it was nice!

take yourself, take your wife, take your kids take a friend - doesn't matter, go there. you'll find peace of mind, Zen nature, beautiful plants and scenery and you can learn a lot of new things about nature. I'm coming back for sure for the night event

What a great place! I loved the beautiful spring colors that were exploding around us. The terrarium was beautiful and a great respite from the generally dreary day outside. The ottoman garden was our favorite because we hadn't seen one before.
Definitely worth going!
Rachael Conners
Beautiful variety of local and global gardens, interesting landscaping with good walking paths. Lots of fountains and water features, a mini history museum in the old Shaw house, and interesting garden statues and accents. The staff at the front were very kind and welcoming. I really enjoyed my visit.
Heather Tullock
Attended the Japanese festival here, I didn't realize how big this place was! So much to see, alot of walking so wear your walking shoes!! They also have a large gift shop and the "dome" had some amazing plants!!
Amber Walgamott
Such a beautiful garden and the free summer concerts are a must! You can bring your own coolers and there are even little parks for kids to play with splash pads that stay open till 7 when the concert begins.
Diana Gaillardetz
This was such a beautiful place much larger than I expected. We went with my son and his fiancée were able to get in free and I paid a small amount as an out of state visitor. The Japanese garden area is particularly interesting with its sand display and many Japanese plants. I also like the area that showed you what plants to plant around your home.
Roberta “Robin” Reuben
The Missouri Botanical Garden is beautiful anytime of the year. I really enjoyed the many varieties of water lilies, many in bloom. No buildings are open due to Covid-19. Masks must be worn at all times. Easy to social distance .

Beautifully done Christmas lights.

The botanical gardens is one of my favorite places in St Louis. Very photogenic, peaceful, and beautiful. These photos are from spring of 2018, specifically from their 'Sake and Sakura' event, including the usually closed off teahouse island in their Japanese garden. The Japanese Festival in the summer every year is always a go to event. Parking on a normal day is easy and free, but on days of big events like the Japanese Festival, get there as early has possible to get a good spot, or to even find one.

Love going to Shaw's. Everytime I've gone to visit there is always something new to see. I enjoy going there just to stroll around and see what new surprises I will discover. It is very relaxing and calming. It's a great place for adults and kids. It had a kids garden area with playgrounds, treehouse, water discovery area and musical toys that are built to stimulate creative growth.
Todd Slawson
This place is simply amazing. Check out the garden glow for the holidays but enjoy this garden year round.
Jordan
I visited for the garden glow and it was satisfactory. Price for food and drinks were far above value but the lighting and effects were quite nice
Sandy Kollar
The garden glow lights were amazing, but the Lazer light show was not as good as 2021.
Tranese Boles
Such a beautiful place to see at night with the Christmas lights. My family and I had a wonderful time.
Lavonne Wieland
Great experience. We will go again next year if they continue to have the Garden Glow. They have beer, wine and hot coco too for sale if you choose to drink. We also took a tour of Shaws house for free inside the garden.
Moriah Messineo-Benge
Wonderful hospitality, great easy to walk paths, including those riding on wheels as well as little running legs. Upon entering one Dome it feels like you've stepped into Jurassic Park, IT WAS AMAZING!!!
Michael Frodyma
Possibly the biggest botanical garden that I've ever been to in any city. The gardens are massive, taking several city blocks. Expect to stay here for at least a few hours, and then only seeing the big highlights of the gardens. There is so much to see here and well worth the admission price. If you're a STL resident, be a member and help support this amazing place. The gardens also hosts events days and evenings which make this even better.
Linda Reed
Very beautiful place it cost 12 to get in wish they had it cheaper for couples that being said was the best garden I have seen take a bottle of water and be prepared for lots of walking. Does not open till 10 tho which is sad would be heavenly to have mourning coffee there
melvin hile
This is a perfect place for plant lovers. We took over 3 hours and still didn't see everything. They are conducting massive improvements, it will be spectacular when complete.
Susie Corley
Stunning Christmas decorations. Wreaths for auction very under whelming. Pointsetta display not at all like depicted in St Louis Mag. Can't wait for train display like they had years ago.
Tyler James
The gardens are a great place to go and enjoy the wonders of nature and see some amazing plants. The Garden Glow was awesome, tons of fun for the whole family. It is very crowded at times, but the crowd of people moves around quickly. Great photo shoot opportunities.
Jayna Jones
We went to the Garden Party because they were offering $10 tickets through the end of Sept. It was a gorgeous night and we really enjoyed ourselves. They have some neat lighting experiences that make it really special!
Blake McMullin
A very nice facility, with a huge variety of plants. There's a lot of indoor variety as well, so you can stay busy even in the heat. This Botanical Garden can definitely take more than a day to thoroughly explore. Staff is friendly and helpful as well. Pricing is fair.
Jon Barnett
Absolutely amazing place to visit. It's a quick hop off the interstate with plenty of parking and things to see. We were amazed by the orchid walk and statues. Make sure to stop by Gringo Jones on the way. It's only a couple blocks away and worth the visit!
Jim Asbille
Our visit to the gardens was a wonderful surprise. We intended to stay a couple of hours but were there over 4! The gardens are beautiful and well kept. There is also the bonus of the Shaw house and the Japanese garden is spectacular.
Katie Moest
A lovely garden with a lot of different kinds of plants to see. The flowers are lovely, but I especially enjoyed feeding the koi. I really enjoyed that there is a lot of interesting sculpture mixed in among the gardens. I would definitely recommend it for tourists and locals alike.
TL DeMrk
Too bad I cannot post smells here! Amazing time to visit, the cherry blossoms were blooming, but so were lotus trees, tulips and so many of my favorites! I was on the road, but needed to stretch my legs before getting back on the highway ... Easy place to do!! I saw everything in-and-out with the time I had.
Marcy Livingston
My favorite place in St. Louis! Love going early in the morning and strolling around with my kiddos. The children’s garden is fantastic, however I’ve been going here since I was a kid, and didn’t need a separate children’s garden. The whole place is magical so the children’s garden is a bonus! We love feeding the fish in the Japanese garden and bringing a swimsuit to run through the fountains on a hot day! Sassafras also has wonderful food!
Diane “Di” Egberts
I attended the Orchid Show and it was stunning. I had no idea what to expect and let me tell you, it was a show stopper. I enjoyed walking around, reading, learning and enjoying the many gorgeous orchid that were on display. An afternoon well deserving of your time to see them. Go, you will not be disappointed.
The pictures below are only a few of the many gorgeous orchid to look at. The name of the Orchid is posted first, then the Orchid itself to view. Enjoy!
Kenneth Kriegshauser
A wonderful and calm place to visit in the middle of the busy city. Walking the paths are a great way to de-stress. The many festivals and garden glows are always worth the money. The children's area is first rate.
Jesse Lundgren
Always a fun time visiting the gardens. There is lots of natural beauty to see every time you come, which changes with the seasons. On special event days it gets a bit crowded, but the grounds are large enough to let everyone spread out and enjoy still.

We attended Garden Glow in December while in St. Louis on business. What an incredible experience. I have never seen Christmas lights quite like the ones on display here. From lights flashing and changing color in synchronization with Christmas or classical music, to hillsides covered in luminaries changing up and down the color spectrum, to curtains and tunnels of twinkling lights to walk through- the overall effect was breathtaking. We were also lucky enough to be able to tour an 1800s Greek Revival mansion on the grounds, festive with Christmas decorations. A couple of cafés and refreshment stands offered hot chocolate to keep the cold at bay. Be sure to plan enough time to visit the large gift shop, loaded with live plants, books and gifts for garden and nature lovers. What a wonderful place!

This place is so amazingly beautiful! The water lilies were so perfect they didn't even look real, and the climatron felt like you were walking right through a rainforest. We had a great time! I'd definitely recommend wearing comfortable shoes and visiting on a cool day if possible.
Alicia H
A beautiful place to visit with wonderful staff and volunteers! We enjoyed the free 219th birthday celebration for Shaw and will definitely be back on another visit soon! Plenty of space to walk, family and stroller friendly, and restrooms available and easily accessible to all throughout. Also a free splash area in addition to the one in the children's garden and many children's activities offered!
ashley scaggs
I absolutely loved this garden. It showcased many different aspects of our fauna world and different climates as well as histories. The Chinese garden was so peaceful I felt that I could've spent all day under the trees as it sprinkled. It was well worth the ticket fee and the gift shop was cute too! I found some good things that were on sale for presents.
Tucker Butler
What a beautiful place to visit and unwind from living a fast paced life. The botanical garden offers a beautiful oasis to escape to and reconnect with nature. I recommend going during glow night, where lights add a fascinating touch to the variety of plants that are located in the garden
Rebekah Chamberlin
This place was much better than I expected as I am not really a plant person. However they had a lot of diverse, unique plants that were cool to look at. The place is pretty big and you can get some good walking in or you can take a tram. I wouldnt go on a super hot or cold day as it is mostly outdoors.
RICK ETTERLING
Beautiful place. We love coming here. Seth at the membership desk was very helpful and is also very funny. Good person to have. We enjoyed the iris garden while in bloom. We were married in the rose garden here in 1995. Fond memories of course.
Jack of All Trades
I must confess, Missouri Botanical Garden is one of the best place I visited in USA. Managed so well that nature is at best. Many attractions such as beautiful and colourful tulips, trees which are having medicinal values and decorative purposes are in plenty. Climatonics which house plants in control temperature. There is museum as well along with "Shaw" the founder of botanical garden house. Tram rides are must for child and families. Eating and washroom are always there at regular intervals. Ponds having ducks and colourful fish are amazing. Must visit place!!!

Garden glow is the absolute best thing to see during the holidays! Make sure to find the wish book and write down your wish for the New Year.
David
Always been a fan of the MBG in the day time. However The family decided to check out the lights at the garden “Garden Glow”
Very nice time, we purchased tickets online and found our markers really easy. Staff was directing traffic like champs and kept great order and balance.
Easy to get in and out and while inside the lights were awesome. They had Hot chocolate stands and adult beverages available
The night was full of fun and we would do this again in a heartbeat.
If you’re in the area it’s worth it
Go do it!
Jeff Minteer
Absolutely gorgeous, seems to never end so wear your good walking shoes and be prepared for 3-4 hrs. minimum to cover it all at a steady pace...so worth it, the beauty is everywhere you look!!
Andrew Landis
The gardens are wonderful. We only had time for a small portion, and what we did see was great. Will definitely want to come back and spend more time here.
Marit Ivory
Beautiful garden. $14 for nonresident, $6 resident. A lot of the gardens are closed due to covid and construction. There are Chinese, Japanese, Lilly and Rose gardens. You could spend all day here.
Joe De Cordoba
The botanic gardens in St. Louis make fur a wonderful retreat to stroll through what amounts to a very large park filled with a dazzling array of flora and fauna. There are many distinct sub-gardens that offer specific climate zones showcasing flowers and plants. The indoor tropical plant exhibit is especially vibrant and worth visiting.
Dustin Sellers
Botanical Gardend is always amazing. We just finished the Garden Glow and loved all of the lights!
Chris Sellers
This is one of the most beautiful places you’ll ever visit. Our only downside is that we didn’t have enough time to see everything. This place is HUGE so plan a lot of time if you want to see everything. We will definitely be back on our next visit to St. Louis.
