Reviews of Seattle Pottery Supply
I love Seattle Pottery Supply! I buy all of my materials here, and the staff is always very helpful for any questions that come up. I use their kiln firing services regularly and I’ve had wonderful experiences each and every time. I’ve even had some very kind staff members give me positive feedback on my ceramic pet portraits :-) I recommend them highly for all of your pottery needs! — Leah (aka Lucid Creating)
Experience has been great. In and out quickly. No problems. If they don't have the product. They Will let me know.
Super happy with the service I got from Michael today!! Thank you so much for all the information. I am new to this world and it was beautiful talking with someone who was patient and helpful. The store had everything you could ever want in regards to pottery. Lots of books and glazes too! Thanks for the new Kiln!!!
I live on the Big Island of Hawaii where there aren't a lot of local options for pottery supplies and shipping options are difficult at best. Over the last year I have repeatedly used Seattle Pottery Supply for everything from a kiln shipped via freight to small one of glaze orders mailed usps. They continue to amaze and delight me with both their helpful advice and quick turnaround on orders!
I enjoy coming here. I had the greatest time finding a new wheel. I was grabbing some glazes and Mikey helped me find a cute new little wheel that fits so perfect in my studio. I love my little shimpo. Its good to see the place has corrected the old ways. I love how friendly & knowledgable everyone is. My favorite place to go in all of Seattle. Great clay bodies too!
Loved my experience today! I am new to the pottery world and I was in awe of how wide the selection was - underglazes especially. I had a lot of questions for the staff and they were very patient and thorough. I am very pleased that they offer firing services too. I can't wait to take my pieces here! Works out nicely in between taking classes at local studios. I didn't feel intimidated being a newbie here, and I was very happy with my experience. Will be back again and again!
I went in with an odd sculpture project idea and I was lucky to have run into Becca in the back. She listened, asked questions, and gave me insight into how to accomplish my goal which I would have never have gotten online or elsewhere. The products and the staff here are exceptional - definitely worth a visit !! Thank you Becca!!
I have been coming here for a while now and the staff is really nice and patient here! I felt comfortable asking super beginner questions and got clear answers and information. They did show my products they legitimately thought I would need but didn’t try to up sell me to things I didn’t need.
Always a good spot to grab pottery supplies! Friendly and helpful staff.
This is a larger store with many different clay bodies and glazes from which to choose. They make many of the clay bodies and glazes here, but also offer national brands such as Laguna, Mayco, Amaco, and others. The clay bodies they make themselves are outstanding. When I come to Seattle, I always stop here and fill up on various clays and glazes. Outstanding and friendly staff can really help you if you have trouble choosing supplies.
The shop has great selection. Trying to do anything via phone or email was problematic for me, probably because of the pandemic. In March 2021 I tried to order via their website and when I needed to modify the order or cancel it, trying to communicate via email and even after finally reaching a person on the phone and requested it to be canceled, the order still shipped the next day. Fortunately someone returned my call and caught it in time and will modify my order for pick up and refund shipping. I still encourage supporting local businesses when possible. Still a great place to shop in person
Stopped by to get some clay for a pizza oven, and the service here was fantastic. Very welcoming and encouraging. Would recommend for professional potters or someone thinking about picking up a new hobby and just starting out.
They cleaned up the place since I have been there last. Lots of clay and tools for potters.
Very cool, in-depth art supplies. My stepdaughter had course materials to pick up, and they were very efficient and prepared. They had a deep selection of books, including Dover editions, and a lot of implants for clay like pizza cutters that you might not expect. Great place to nerd out if you or your kid is into pottery or sculpture.
It was great!!! Everyone was following appropriate social distancing guidelines. The staff all had masks on. The store has been rearranged and is quite spacious allowing for ease of movement through the space. Everyone was very friendly and there was plenty of help available. I'm so glad they're open!
Good place to grab tools and materials for pottery. Employees are knowledgeable, prices are reasonable, parking is ample. You can also order a customized kiln with digital controls. What more can you ask?
I've been doing business with Seattle Pottery Supply for years. They are ALWAYS so helpful! They always remember to ask about my kids, my art, & life in general. They always have an encouraging word. Its an artsy home away from home! Great selection of materials, if they don't have it on hand they can order it!
Mikey was really helpful. He went out of his way to fulfill my order and had good communication. The guys were really nice and brought the clay to my car which was great because it was heavy.
It's a huge warehouse with a lot of really good stuff. I was tempted to buy all of their wooden stamps.
Always a wonderful experience. Staff are very helpful.
Had so much fun creating my own earthly beauty. The guides there are so patient. Also so many colors and textures to choose from. Loved the time I spent there. It's a must stop for all those who love creativity
Amazing people and excellent selection of products. The staff is not only friendly but extremely knowledgeable and helpful. This is a wonderful space for the community and offers raku firing! I love it so much :)
Great place for those who love pottery. So many different glazes, molds and other tools abs accessories to pottery and ceramic arts this is a place to check out.
They have a firing service if you need this. Prices look very reasonable.
Tons and tons of clay choices. They have cone one through cone 10. They will fire your pieces for a price and they even do Raku firings. Their glaze selection is amazing and they have a lot of great tools for hand builders which is what I do.
One of Seattle's hidden gems. HUGE selection of high-quality kilns, clays, and glazes. A wide range of ceramic products for a beginner like me and everything for the expert as well. The building alone is worth a visit - in the SODO neighborhood with railroads, industry and grit. Check it out.
Can I give a 10+ star!! The staff are amazing, so helpful, and patient with you! I know zero about pottery, glazes, dipping, ect. They were able to teach me what I need, how to use it, and provide information about services I may need. This place rocks!
This is THE PLACE to go for clay, glazes, and really any pottery tools or materials you need. The prices are decent, they have good sales every once in a while, and many of the employees are super helpful in making recommendations and talking through options- they really know their stuff. The glaze tiles in particular are incredible- every glaze and even certain combinations of glazes have a test tile and they are very accurate. The front counter associate is not usually very welcoming (and when calling them on the phone I find them to be rather short), but if you can make the trek down there it is definitely worth the trip. This place is a treasure trove.
The staff here was so nice and helped me find answers to my questions. They went above and beyond explaining how I could use different underglazes and clays. What a great place!!
Long time customer of Seattle Pottery Supply. The new management has down a fantastic job with there customer service and store layout. I really appreciate their efforts and service.
The Good News: Of local ceramic suppliers, this is top shelf. Attentive staff. The Bad News: Parking can be tricky.
A store full of more things than I know what to do with. Of course I am a complete beginner and the employee I spoke with was friendly and very helpful in answering all my questions and leading me in the right direction. I’m grateful for local speciality stores that exist with such a great selection.
Wow, am impressed with all the pottery supplies that available in this store. It's conveniently located in SODO, off First Ave., with plenty of off-street parking in front. Found reasonably-priced, extra-large, clear, sturdy acrylic plate holders that can stand by themselves or attach to walls for display.
Very pleasant and helpful staff. I have yet to ask an unanswerable question. The store stocks more tools, glazes and types of clay than you could store in your studio. Always an adventure worth making.
It is very nice place. The owner is helping always. We love to visit there.
Love the variety of clays you can get here. They pretty much have everything you need for pottery or sculpting projects. Staff person who helped me seemed distracted and put off by having to answer my questions but, eventually steered me in the right direction.
Great selection of supplies for the novice and experienced potter. I love all the various tools and many varieties of clay that they carry. Also, lots of prepared glazes and glaze materials.
They have so many cool pottery accessories here, and so many different paints and glazes to choose from. I love how they have samples of all the glazes, so you know what to expect when you purchase.
I like coming here. It's run by knowledgeable people that are usually willing to help you out. They can be a little brusque, but I mean, it's a pottery shop, run by potters, we usually prefer dealing with clay over people. There's tons of cool stuff, an entire section of books, and it's waaaay too easy to spend all of your money here. Even if you come with a plan, you're probably going to end up with something super cool that you don't really need. But it'll be suuuuper cool.
Seattle Pottery is my absolute favorite store. I have quit my job as a nurse and started working as a potter full time. Seattle Pottery has managed my orders during quarantine well even though one order included 1600 lbs of clay and some backordered glaze. They were flexible, reasonable and safe with new owners and difficult circumstances. Check them out.

Love going to Seattle Pottery. The staff are super helpful in helping me pick out the right clay and glazes. My granddaughter has even gone along and loves picking out cute ceramics that she can glaze.
I do not potter but I took a friend who does here and they were delighted. Staff was friendly and helpful and we left happy.
Tucked way back in the industrial area of SoDo, this place is a real gem for anyone looking for pottery supplies, as well as molding and casting supplies. They carry just about anything you can think of from tools and raw materials to raw, slip-cast ceramics and literature. They have a seemingly endless variety of clay and glazes, including WED, for those looking to do sculpture work. They are a local Smooth-On distributor, though have a fairly limited selection of products.
Staff is very knowledgeable, always helpful. Mikey is ALWAYS such a pleasure. He helped me buy a Raku Kiln in time for a big move. The Raku firings every first Saturday of the month are the absolute cherry on top. Eric is amazing!
Wow! Two other grads and myself ordered clay last Thursday. We got our 1,500 lbs of clay today, Monday. I was waiting for the order to take a week or two, but this is incredible! Thank you, Seattle Pottery Clay for such a quick delivery, friendly phone service, and unwavering patience answering our 20 questions. This was our first order through SPC and would definitely recommend this company to other ceramicist, graduates, and ceramic professors, especially at our university. It is also very refreshing to have such variety of clay bodies to pick from.
My only criticism- I wish SPC's website was a little more search friendly. Having the clay description page merge with the clay price page would be much more efficient for deciding what to order. Four other people decided not to order with us because of this search puzzle.
They have so many products to be excited about... books, tools, glazes, and clay are just the start. The best part is that the staff knows their stuff!
Seattle Pottery Supply Inc and Crucible Kilns is the best place in the entire U.S. and perhaps world to purchase all things pottery-related - kilns, clay, glazes, raw materials, pottery wheels, and studio equipment. You can even have your pieces fired. Their comprehensive online e-catalog is wonderful ... now with even their own YouTube channel on it that they have put together with great how to videos on it.
Wow what a great place this is to visit and the staff is both friendly and helpful. Their monthly raku firing sessions are wonderful and so is their excellent raku school firing service which is a wonderful learning adventure that they bring right to the school...and what wonderful art books and magazines they have. If you are a teacher, sculptor, professional potter, ceramic artist or home enthusiast, Seattle Pottery Supply is YOUR place ...that's there to serve you... phenomenally well. I highly recommend Seattle Pottery Supply and Crucible Kilns
Throughout the last 13 years, I have found Seattle Pottery to be an excellent resource for anything I might imagine doing in clay. They provide many choices of glazes and underglazes, clays and slips, cast ceramics and kilns. They fire their kilns on a regular basis to allow those of us who don't have a kiln to use their facilities more effectively. I used to be a glassblower, but I have found a comfortable niche with Seattle Pottery. I'm glad they're here!
Few places like this, from the classic warehouse smell to the angled floor to what I assume used to be a railroad loading dock. Lots of clay, more glazes than I could ever use, tools small and large, and decently-priced weekly firings for your clay/bisque.
Love this store. All the staff were very helpful.
Got some ITC-100 for a forge, great price and quick to get it on the way. The website isn't as fancy as most but I have no issues using it again for any refractory supplies I need in the future.
Amazing pottery store. Perfect for everything you might need as a beginner or expert
Pretty good selection, almost everything you'd need. New ownership is making things run a little more smoothly and the service seems better...no more waiting for a handwritten receipt!
Such a great experience! Went today for the first time and it was amazing! The staff was extremely knowledgeable and patient. Very well organized, and they had EVERYTHING!! Great experience!
So many things to look at. Very friendly staff! Loved it
My business if fused glass. I get great bisque molds for slumping, products to repair my kiln and various tools which work with glass. Always great service.
Great place if you know EXACTLY what you want to buy. If you have questions, don't waste your time because they will treat you like you're wasting theirs.
Always helpful with any questions- they ship my clay all the way to Hawaii and they are so fast! I love this company!
They were helpful. You got the clay yourself from the backroom. Princess wetter fair
Awesome spot for pottery supply. Great prices
Staff is so helpful and patient with all my many questions. They have almost anything you may need for all your ceramic endeavors
My go to for ceramics supplies. Friendly and super helpful. Big shout out to Mike for helping me solve a problem I was having!
Seattle Pottery has lots of great stuff for making ceramics. Clay, low and high fire glazes, tools, books, and raw materials.
Always worth the trip into town. They always have what you are looking for and have a wealth of knowledge. The staff are friendly and more than helpful!
Had a fantastic time here today. Great place to aquire what ever you may need for all your pottery and ceramic desires.
Best help around for figuring out what glazes you need or tools or clay! Great raku firing every first Saturday!
The store is great, lots of good product, but the customer service is a bit lacking. You get the feeling that questions aren't welcome.
Super friendly staff and a lot of inventory to choose from. If you're looking to get into pottery, this is the place in Seattle to go.
Wonderful Shoppe! Kind and generous owners!
They opened just for us on a bad weather day! Thank you so much!!!
Got what I needed with no trouble. I then had some car trouble in their parking lot, and the staff kindly helped me out. Thanks, SPS. :)
Got good stuff. Some of the staff are grouchy Everytime you see them, but others are friendly. They are helpful too.
Just passed by...but it looks ...promising
Someday I hope to visit in person, but for now ordering online from them is great.
Huge selection, open layout. Their prices can be a little steep and sometimes they're a bit grumpy, but I love it anyway.
Lovely place. Great customer service, they assisted us when though we showed up really close to closing time.
