Reviews of Seattle Aquarium
Ramaz J
are in a good location, on the promenade in the center. there is something to see and even new species of marine life can be discovered. interesting and curious. I think both children and adults will be interested. to see everything about 1-1:30 is enough. there is a cafe and gift shop inside. the guide and the scuba diver who takes care of the fish from inside the aquarium tell interesting things about them. if you want to drive there by car and park for free, then you need to put it against the aquarium that is there. look at the site and only put the car there. what else can be said? I expected more and a little better. I was at the Oregon Aquarium and it's better there, much bigger and interesting and expected something similar, but not bad, okay. There is no queue, you can arrive at the appointed time and immediately go in.

I love going to the Seattle Aquarium so much, I became a member! Great place to bring the family. It’s moderate in size so your kids won’t get too tired but the exhibits are great and the first one is even interactive. We just love seeing the seals and otters as well!
You can make park at Pike Place Market Parking Garage and ask to get 2 hours validated when you enter the aquarium. The same parking garage connects to Pike Place Market which opens up your day to many activities!

I came in last week and had an awesome experience here with my girlfriend. We ordered the ticket via our King County Library Card which gave us the free admissions (i.e., one card can take up to at most four people). There are many great and vivid selections, but I love the outside sea otter section the most. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable to all your curious questions. There are a lot of exhibitions so please take your time to visit them all. I believe there is no free public parking, so you have to pay nearby parking. If you have kids, the aquarium is a great place to learn, enjoy, and spend time with them. Overall, I highly recommend this place to local people, tourists and myself to come back in the near future.
Daniel Gerland
A fantastic aquarium with lots of exhibits and different animals. All the staff was really nice and answered any questions I had. There was a really great area out on the pier to sit and take a break. The seals and the sea otters were very cute. Everything was very well maintained and all the critters were happy and well cared for.

A special place, no matter if it's the first, third, fifth, or seventh time I had been through the aquarium. The local fish and fauna, the exotic, and the information about them is informative and entertaining. It's hard not to get excited thinking about the exhibits and their varied nature's. Touching sting rays, tide pools, and salmon ladders all are some of the things you can see and do. The gift shop isn't bad either. The facility is clean and family friendly and I wouldn't hesitate to bring explorers of all ages. It's not necessary (or hasn't been a single time I've been there) to purchase tickets prior to arrival.
Sheena Nessly
I love the aquarium. Even being a local that has been here a million times. It's still always fun. The touch tank is awesome. You have people constantly walking around educating you on things. The giant octopus is always neat. And the otters and seals are ADORABLE!!
M Kolodij
This is a good aquarium although admission may be a bit steep for the size of the aquarium. It took about 45 minutes to get through the exhibits. The exhibits and tanks were in good condition and clean. The octopus was active and interesting. The seals were playful and entertaining. A great place for kids of all ages.
Becca Johnston
Haven't been here in years so it was great to go back! It's smaller than I remember, but the exhibits are well maintained and employees were super knowledgeable. Always great to give back to the community while hanging with the fish. Although, I think I'd rather visit the zoo since it feels more interactive and of course is a lot bigger. I also forgot to get my parking validated (make sure to ask when you check in!!!) since I'm sure most people in this area know how parking in Seattle can be. Only a certain lot can be validated so make sure to prepay online and see the info within the confirmation email. The most cost effective way to visit is probably to purchase the CityPass.
Katie Slauson
Really fun, interactive exhibits! We loved seeing the sea lions and the otters get fed their dinner. The location is just gorgeous - right on the water. It was quite crowded, since we went on a Saturday afternoon. It probably would have been less crowded in the morning.
Sam Horine
The Seattle Aquarium is great - we went on a “after hours night” where they had food and drinks and it was super fun to stroll around and see the seals / otters / sunset. Would def come back and see it again - with that on the waterfront location I assume it gets pretty busy in the summer months with cruise people. They’re in the process of building a huge new addition across Alaskan Ave which will be a beautiful update to the space.

We love to visit the Seattle Aquarium, and that's why we have a Family Membership. When you after paying, and getting a group photo, you're greeted by a floor to ceiling sea wall that will captive you. Walk along the tide (encased in glass) as you make your way past the well priced souvenir shop, to the start of the attraction. We adore the sleepy octopus, the round jellyfish section - great for you influences, the sea lions and the otters! Have fun, great for a rainy day, but know there is still lots of construction all along where the viaduct once resided.
Dr. Ryan
Fun place for the kiddos. New building planned in 2025 with a lot of new exhibits, currently under construction. Lots of fish, coral, and sea mammals to observe. Restaurant upstairs has some excellent food. A great place to visit if you are hanging around pike market.
Drita D'Alessandro
My husband and I tend to visit either the Aquarium or the Zoo in every major city we visit. With Seattle being on the water, we opted for the Aquarium. Lovely place, with a wonderful and safe setup.
Very knowledgeable staff, and beautiful exhibits. My fave was the giant octopus, Mochi. He was amazing to see and interact with. The giant otters were amazing to watch as well.
Anvesh
It’s a one time thing for me. It was definitely a cute get over for the weekend. Kids would be super excited for this. You can finish the tour under and hour but that’s based on what fascinates you. It was great to just walk near the piers and snack by the waters overlooking the vessels and boats. I’d skip the aquarium if you’ve something else to spend your time on.
Ameer Kat
This was a very surprising visit. From outside in the pictures this aquarium looks fairly small. But it's actually multiple segments, with both outdoor and indoor.
The highlights were octopus 🐙, all the wonderful fishes 🐠🐟, the starfish ⭐, jellyfish , baby shark 🦈, sea otters, sea lions, and many more!
Whether you live in Seattle or coming for a tour it's definitely worth the price.
Nicholas Quintillan
Definitely worth a visit, especially in the summer season. It’s a little small for a coastal aquarium all things considered, but it’s still definitely intriguing and offers plenty of activities and attractions. It’s fun for the family and educational. The price per ticket is slightly high, but it’s not high enough to deter you.
M
I had so much visiting here with my friend!! We went on a weekend, walked in and got our tickets there no problem (and barely a line). It is expensive though, the WA adult resident rate today was $34. But the exhibits, fish, and marine life are awesome! They have really friendly educators at some of the exhibits, especially by the touch pools and by the Giant Pacific octopus! 🐙 Signage could be a lot better, make sure after the marine life section you go outside as another 50% of the aquarium is through that area! You get to see seals, otters, a giant fish aquarium, and more there. Overall I highly recommend visiting, I set my expectations low based on some other reviews but was pleasantly surprised! Had a great experience and would recommend to others!
Bryson Worden
I greatly enjoyed my time here. The exhibits and information shows a genuine care and appreciation for the surrounding oceans and the focus on rehabilitation of animals via their captivity in the aquarium leaves visitors with a wholesome enjoyment and education for afterwards as well. A fantastic experience overall and well worth the visit!
Gemsofthewild
As a homeschooling mom of 2 I love the amount of education we get from each visit at the Seattle aquarium. They are so good about hands on learning with kids when it comes to the touch and explore tanks. We enjoy that they do feedings throughout the day so you’re more than likely to see a feeding of some sort during your visit. Customer service is always outstanding and very helpful. I would highly recommend a visit to the Seattle aquarium. For families that are members of the KCLS (king county library system) you can get a free Seattle aquarium museum pass that will allow 4 visitors every 90 days. Enjoy!
Angel Kinzig
Decent aquarium. Feels a little small but is really just spread out which is actually nice & makes it less crowded. Came here years ago with the kids & returned again. Feels exactly the same. I really love the octopus & otters. Nice clean place.
Katherine Richardson
This was a really cool place. Tip: Get a City Pass. It was neat to be able to touch some of the animals. I also got to see a fish that was 80 years old. The shark room was 3d awesomeness and the corals were beautiful. All the kids running around was a little annoying but I'm glad they are being educated because they are our future. The staff was kind and patient and informative.
Kelsey D
I love that they release the critters back into the wild after observing them for a little bit. It gives me hope for them knowing they aren't kept in tanks their whole lives. I talked with a few staff members throughout the visit and they were all very knowledgeable on the displays, fish in them, and some random facts. The octopus was beautiful! We loved the jellyfish. It appeared they take very good care of the animals here.
Charles Wanke
Family fun for all ages. Lots to see and learn. For me it was definitely a destination. Conveniently located near the Great Wheel, ferries, Pike Place Market, shops and restaurants, and down town. Parking was $25 for the day one block away. However, Ivars Seafood Restaurant just a block away offered 3 hours free parking at the Pike Place parking center.
Adam Cook
This Aquarium offers some unique exhibits that are not found at other large aquariums. There are the usual touching stations as well as additional exhibits outside the main hall. One of the better viewings at the aquarium are the otters. If lucky they will be in a playful mood and will swim back and froth in front of the glass, playing with any kids that are there.
Not a particular large aquarium and it is a good stop for those with younger kids as it will only take a few hours to explore. This is worth the stop to check it out on your Seattle adventures when visiting the area.
Justin Drentlaw
Pretty cool place. Honestly it's a little small, especially for the price. But they have a lot of cool fish, anemones, sea cucumbers, urchins, sea stars, and more. The touch pools are pretty entertaining. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
Charles Bailey (DarkChuck1)
The aquarium has many different marine animals to learn about and had a Halloween themed exhibit during my visit. The staff were very knowledgeable and answered any questions I had. They do allow you reentry on the day you get your ticket so you can always go see other attractions and then come back if you want to. I strongly recommend getting the city pass to see the aquarium and other attractions around Seattle while saving money.
R. Joy Rush
I’ve been to a lot of aquariums. Don’t expect too much here. This one has the local sea life and is educational about local ecology, as well as a few special exhibits about coral reef preservation and sea birds. You can also see sea lions, harbor seals, and sea otters, though their enclosures were far too small and bare. The pacific octopus was unique and the touch tank area was much more expansive than many aquariums’. There are no sharks, sea turtles, or large ocean exhibits you may expect. For those exhibits, please go visit the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium in Tacoma.
The aquarium is a fixture of the Seattle waterfront and is generally well-kept, though there is definitely room for improvement.
Be sure to book your tickets online in advance to save on overpriced at-the-door admission. There are military, student, and WA state resident discounts available with provision of a valid ID.

I've been visiting the Seattle aquarium for well over a decade now since I moved to the Seattle area, and every experience was great. Parking is especially difficult to find but if you go either an hour or so before close (they stop letting people in at 5pm I believe) or during weekday early afternoons it shouldn't be too hard to find a spot.
Staff is friendly and willing to answer any questions about the aquarium animals which I always appreciate!
The tourist shop there is definitely on the expensive side though, I wouldn't buy there unless I wanted to consider it a donation to the aquarium.
Spacious and lots of beautiful exhibits, definitely a must-visit for those in the Seattle area!

Our second visit, this time we went for free with a museum pass from King County Library System. We were lost interested in seeing the octopus and jellyfish and they didn’t disappoint. We saw a lot of interesting species throughout the aquarium. The fur seals were our favorite as we haven’t seen a lot of fur seals and one was quite energetically swimming around their habitat. The bird area was very calming and the underwater dome was very zen as you can sit o. The benches and stare off into the 400,000 gallon biome. Great spot to stop in if you have an hour to burn. Park at the Pike Place Lot to get three hours of free parking, just stop in at the info desk at the aquarium for the ticket.
Paul McFarlane
Good size aquarium, especially for our 3 year old daughter.
Greeted by large aquarium with diver swimming and presenting.
Octopus was very cool to see up close.
Touch fish tank for experiencing star fish and other wildlife to touch.
Outdoor area (sheltered) where you can meet the seals penguins and other amazing animals
Dan Burnett
It’s a neat spot to kill an hour or so. Was feeling a bit let down until I did the outdoor section; it added a lot to the experience. Would recommend, especially for the focus on sustainability and salmon rearing. There were neat exhibits focusing on hatching, and ecosystems, and I couldn’t help but admire the intelligent design of the waves crashing in the tide pool exhibits.
charlie sliwoski
Haven't been here in years, and while it hasn't changed, it is still a great place to visit. The large glass wall where you can view the fish as you enter is fascinating and if you are lucky you might even catch a diver in there! The hands on tide pools are a must for the kids with supervised "petting" of the sea creatures. The walk through arch of swimming jelly fish is the perfect photo op. But don't miss the large octopus next to it which is my particular favorite. As you cross outside you enter a completely different experience of seals and sea lions, birds and large strange fish that all can be viewed from above or below. Plan on spending some time in the dome where there is seating and you can watch the fish swim all around you.
M'Liss B
Attended here as part of the CityPass. Overall it was a great experience. Limited fish but some really amazing open aquariums where we were able to touch different species. The Sea Lion pool seemed very small and made me a bit sad to see but overall the animals seemed well cared for.
Amruta M
Seattle aquarium was superb experience and I recommend it to all. Quite a good n interactive exhibit they have. We booked the tickets online a day in advance bec the slots get filled fast. Once u enter they have large hall where we saw puppet ocean story teller. My kid loved the experience of touching the starfish n other aquatic plants. Main attraction was the octopus who was very active and the underwater dome where you are surrounded by si many fishes! So many interesting things, fishes and birds to see! Also the pier side decks just to watch out the sea is so great. Overall we loved this place. You can easily spend 2-3 hours here if you have kids. We will definitely visit it again
Yichun C
The big tank was right by the entrance, the rest are much smaller tanks which probably disappointed me. The fish were very chilled, really seem to adapt to the ecosystem they’ve created. Beautiful variety of fish and other species. The otters were cute to watch. Try to go before sunset, outside marine life area are quite dark and hard to spot them. Otherwise the sunset view is crisp and stunning. Enjoyed it but wish it was better and bigger.
Nagaraju Rajuri
We liked the acqurium as it is spacious and people are scattered even though crowd is decent size. All exhibits are open and my kids loved fishes, octopus, sea lion, some of the rare colored fishes. Well maintained areas with hand wash and sanitized stations. Parking is free for 3 hours as you have purchased acqurium tickets. It's a 10 mins walk from parking. Kids will love it underwater dome.
Taras Yasniy Photography
Seattle aquarium is cozy space with a touch of modern design. Here, you can see many various species of marine life. I recently had done there a wedding photoshoot, which turned out to be a perfect place for photos. I totally recommend it for both, family visit and possible wedding there.
Lutao L
Worth a visit if you’re around especially for kids. It isn’t a huge aquarium but has a good a variety of ocean animals. The best part was that we got to touch the ocean corrals, plants and star fish! We were also happy to see seals, sea lions and seahorse, as well as the animals in the move “finding Nemo “
Poorva Bhatnagar
It is a good experience. I would not say one of the best but good specially if you have kids they will enjoy a lot seeing different water animals. It is a new and thrilling experience for them. Tickets are little over priced but worth a visit once.
Cosmic Demon
It was a good aquarium. They had a BR experience where you were whale spotting on a boat and rocked with the motion of the boat. Otters are super cute!!! They didn't have sharks, though. :(
James King
Such a great place to take kids and just for Adults too! Perfect sunny day, and kiddos loved the seal, & otter shows! And what a cool underwater dome aquarium also! Can't wait to see the expansion in 2024!
Bruce Fischer
It's a pretty nice aquarium for it's size, which is surprisingly small. Some pretty cool exhibits like the octopus tank, sea otters, fur seals, and touch tank. Some of the stuff is pretty dated some is newer. It's nice that they have different prices for different days. Encourages people to go on non-busy days. It's far from the best aquarium in the country but it's worth a stop if you're visiting Seattle.
David Masters
It's really good, but I do not appreciate the discrimination you use for pricing, if you don't live in Seattle you will pay more. Not on...
The staff are brilliant, the animals well cared for, and it's a great space.
Corey Hailey
This was a really nice aquarium. I highly recommend getting the Citipass if your thinking about going here. It'll include access to the aquarium, the space needle, the zoo and other attractions.
As for the aquarium itself its got a huge variation of aquatic life there
Clifton
Had a great time. Wonderful staff that can answer any questions. Awesome facility that has a litany of habitats and information. The touch tank is a lot of fun. You're going to see many different species, including some awesome invertebrates, fish, seals, and everyone's favorite otters! Say hello to the octopus for me.
Wei Hsu
Seattle Aquarium is worth visiting! You can have touching experience with the sea animals like starfishes, corals, sea cucumbers and different kinds of seaweeds. The commentator nicely introduced everything here! There are outdoor places for sea lions and sea otters! You will have fun.
Stephanie Coish
It’s expensive to get in, but it’s a really cool place to spend a couple hours. We loved the touch pools, where you can reach in and feel starfish, urchins, anemones, sea cucumbers etc. A very informative lady told us all about nudybranchs and sea slugs - which are super neat. We watched a harbour seal show and played with river otters through the glass, and were told by another staff member about a bunch of the different fish two of the tanks. The staff are all great here, from the ticket desk all the way through!
Jay Finesilver
Solid fun aquarium. Larger than I thought. Well designed. A lot of it is outside which was great fun. I enjoyed the variety of fish and mammals. Worth checking out.
Jessica S
This was my second time to this aquarium and it is simply fantastic! They do a great job of enforcing safety with regards to Covid protocol. Several sanitizer stations throughout. Every staff member I interacted with was very kind and helpful. Several staff members were able to provide fascinating details about some of the animals and were happy to answer questions from the guests. We were lucky enough to observe "Mochi" the octopus put on quite the show (definitely the most active octopus I've ever seen)!
Ashley Guenther
Came here as 2/3 of my kids are OBSESSED with marine life. They were not disappointed. The each learned something new and enjoyed themselves. Was not busy so in that aspect it was worth it. Our one complaint was lunch cost us $120 CAD 😭 and was not worth half of that. …
Joshua Porter
Best aquarium I've been to. Very educational. Beautiful fish, corals, anemones, jellies, and mammals. Favorite parts were the petting zoo of sea creatures of the Salish sea and of course the sea and river otters. Must see for Seattle
Johnathan Williams
This is a lovely aquarium that focuses upon the sea life in the Washington area. Expect plenty of fish, plants, seals, native birds, and otters. The touch tanks are a fun experience for adults and kids alike.
Kevin Shah
Took my team at work for a team day at the Seattle Aquarium. It’s a great organization that helped us with group tickets as well.
We had lunch at the Cafe and then explored the aquarium. The team really loved a day exploring and learning. The people who work here are amazing and love the mission and conservation.
Recommend asking questions and talking to the interpreters and learning. It’s a great place and the pier next to it is great as well to hang out.
Enjoy your time here for a nice morning or afternoon. It’s a big space and it feels open and growth focused. Love it.
jess padgett
Nice and clean. Good flow of exhibits. Yummy cocktails upstairs and free refills of soda. Sip and walk is what I did alone and just flowed right through the crowd and exhibits. I did the Whales VR experience. My first time doing VR. Great little watch and listen. Great spot overall.
Cam Mundy
The fish were beautiful. Being able to do the petting almost right as you walk in was cool (though usually this is saved for last) and finishing up with the watershed section with the river otters was nice :) staff was lovely and all the exhibits were sweet
Aaron Yang
Small but cute aquarium in Seattle waterfront. The best part is their events, feeding marine mammals, Santa diving photo, and touching sea animals. It's not big, but it's expanding. Some space expansion for the animals would be lovely.
HC OakleyD
Spent a good 90 mins here.
The giant octopus was great and the assistants on hand were very knowledgeable and willing to inform.
I enjoyed the mammal areas as well and the fact they try to release some of their animals back into the Puget Sound once they are healthy enough to survive.
We went early 9:30am for a less crowded experience which I would recommend
Delia Daigrepont
Don’t compare it to any other aquarium!
I found myself comparing it to Baltimore aquarium in Maryland, but it needs its own category! I adored the experience to be next to a sea otters and seals. It’s not huge, and can be toured in about 2hrs. Tickets range in price, but 3 and under are free! I drove 2 hrs to get here, and spent less than that walking around. It’s best to come during feeding time.
Andrew Jaru
Great little aquarium. It's a perfect place to bring kids and despite its size, the aquarium has quality exhibits. We spent something like 1.5 hours here and had a swell time. The employees are all super knowledgeable and seem to enjoy talking. There's also a cafe on site if you need to catch lunch. There's currently a time entry system and they do a great job enforcing it. It didn't feel crowded at all while we were there.
Jamyang Losal
We got in a little after two and by the time we worked our way through the other exhibits, we enjoyed some dinner time antics from the otters! Plus there are some stunning views and the staff is so informative. Lots of sanitizing stations and it wasn't too crowded so we felt safe.
Eric Yue Ma
Fantastic place for kids and adults interested in marine life. One can probably visit every other week without getting bored -- and thus getting a lot out of the membership.
I'd recommend timing your visit to see the special feeding session by a scuba diver at the large tank near the entrance. Bring a foldable stool if you have young children.
They have free parking vouchers for the garage across the street.
Ryan Laubach
What a great place to go if your a lover of sea anything. They keep amazing care of facility and family friendly. If your a shark or fish or sea otter or seal and you have to be a prisoner, this is the place to be. I have been attending this facility since 1982 and I recommend it to all ages and all families.
Dan G
Great aquarium with fun exhibits and knowledgeable workers. If you go early on a weekday morning it usually isn't too crowded and you can spend more time enjoying the animals.
Michael Beck
Great aquarium, but admittedly a little underwhelming when you get in and realize the place is very small. Nonetheless, it's a fun little aquarium with neat exhibits and animals to see, and being situated right off the pier makes for great waterfront views.
Kinda pricey for entry given the size of the establishment, but the funds go to a good cause. Worth checking out!
Ryan Domogma
Nice family fun. Like the otter and wild bird exhibit. The hands on display was cool but watch out for those kids splashing each other. Was worth the price.
Michelle Morganegg
I hate to leave a less than stellar review, but the cost of this adventure wasn’t worth it for me. I love aquariums and whenever we travel I find one to check out. It’s one of the smallest ones I’ve been to, but definitely the most expensive. $70 for two people is excessive.
Jeff Main
Our baby girls LOVE the Seattle Aquarium!
Last weekend we took our 9-month old twins to the aquarium for the very first time. We were delighted to see their eyes grow wider and wider in pure awe and delight as they took in wonderful aquatic exhibits galore.
It's a big world for little ones and sometimes fun new things can even seem a bit scary at first. We didn't know how their Aquarium experience would go and were pleasantly surprised as it proved to be an experience full of intrigue and fascination for our little ones.
We now have a full membership to the Seattle Aquarium for the year and look forward to many, many adventures ahead!!
Pro Tips:
• Buy tickets online before arriving; check-in is smooth & fast this way.
• Have the photographer take your group's photo. It's free to preview.
• Even the weekends aren't too busy to fully enjoy everything.
• Check their website for events and programs.
RaikooIdea1
It's a tourist spot. Pretty small. Not many exhibits. Still an experience and worth it through the citi pass. Essentially a strip with a few tanks. The reef pool was fun to see and pet some sea cucumbers.
Becky Noyes
The Seattle Aquarium was a nice stop on our journey, lots of large tanks with tons of fish to enjoy. I was kinda blown away with just how many varieties of rock fish there are! The underwater dome was definitely the highlight, I could have sat there for hours watching those large ocean fish swim about, especially the sturgeon! The "wheel.of jellyfish" was also pretty dang neat! While I do feel like the New England Aquarium has a bit more variety, if you're on the West coast and an enjoyer of fish, this is a good place to be! Also, the sea otters are awfully cute! ;)
Britany Hancock
Stopped here after a cruise to kill time before our flight and it definitely did not disappoint! They were able to hold two of our bags at coat check and their coffee shop provided a much needed pick me up. The highlight for my family were the harbor seals. They take reservations, but they do accept walk-ins.
John Ramirez
Very nice place..a little small which is the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars Instead of 5. You can probably get it done in about 2 hours..or less. Very informative though. Love the otters
Sol
Beautiful set ups and very amiable staff! The tide pool where you can touch the sea creatures and the otters were my top favorites. Overall it is a little pricey and small but would still recommend.
Aditya S
Variety of sea creatures. Enjoyed Seal swimming around from viewing area. It feels crowded inside as its not spacious enough to handle weekend crowd. Compared to other aquarium around the world like Singapore SEA, this experience feels little pricy.
Rogelio Rodarte
The aquarium does not look so good outside, but it was really surprising inside, they great shaped thanks and a grand variety of animals. M favorite was the octopus and the otters. I strongly recommend it, if you are at the city.
The Reviewer
To be honest it wasn’t really worth it for the price but I get that it does cost money to run something like this. I was there back in August. I live in Minnesota so there’s no way I would be coming back. My sister lives out that way so we just let her keep the membership. We didn’t spend much time there it just wasn’t what we expected it to be unfortunately.
Chris Gress
Great displays and exhibits for the size. Sea lions and both kinds of otters were the stars of the show, but make sure to see the octopus. If you live in Seattle and have a library card you can go for free with the museum pass. I don't think I'd pay the $30+ per adult to go in here otherwise, hence the 4 stars.
BreeAnn Robertson
We had a lot of fun here! Lots of animals to see and some you can touch. The sea lions were so fun, and I loved the jellyfish!
Skylar Kaylen
So much fun seeing all the habitats and enclosures the aquarium has to offer. They even had little pumpkins and other Halloween decorations.
Meri Smiley
This has been my favorite aquarium yet! The sea urchins & sea cucumbers that the public was allowed to interact with, the otters, and the octopus were my highlights. There were plenty of neat sea creatures that I had never seen before as well!
C. Nixon
This place is always a wonderful place to take the kids, and honestly I enjoy it just as much!
We love watching hang the live feedings with the instructional diver.
I love that they catch and release their octopi from the puget sound every few months.
What makes this special for us, is generally I would not be able to afford this place because it is expensive, but they recently got low income memberships just like the woodland park zoo and Pacific Science Center. Making it much more accessible.
Thank you!

Between the tide pool touch tanks, beautiful fish, sea otters, and birds, the Seattle Aquarium has something for everyone to see! It's definitely worth seeing if you're visiting the downtown area.
Vincent Randy Heslop
My family and especially my daughter enjoy the Seattle Aquarium. We go a couple times a year to see what's new and to relive the experience. It's a great family activity at a reasonable price when you consider their cost of operations.. We try to avoid the touristy months as the waterfront can be challenging for parking and sheer people numbers. FOLLOW ME for more thoughtful recommendations as I travel the world 🌎
Nate Chamberlain
We always enjoy visiting the Seattle Aquarium when we're in town. It's easy to swing by when down on the piers, and it always feels like a fresh experience. Be sure to swing by the second building to visit the otters and seals!
Shel Ram
It's smaller than most aquariums that I have been to. I thought it would've been more. Nice place. Price too high for the walk through though.
Vaesen Pastry
An amazing place and a good way to support the Aquarium is through purchasing stuff from the gift shop. The clothing is made from recycled bottles, so that's so cool. The clothing is extremely soft! I also got some cute keychains and a book that called to me. It's not a Huge huge place but its definitely enough to excite people and really give you a good look at pacific sea life. The education is very cool and there is a touch room! Which is good for younger kids.
Viridiana Navarro
Lovely aquarium with very informative and fun guides. Learned a lot about the current octopus named Orbit. Sat in an underground aquarium to look at some fish. Playful otters and very active sea lions. Kudos to the team for having the love for these animals.
Nicole Daaboul
Not bad for an aquarium but would have loved to see more creatures. It is a small aquarium and can be discovered in less than 2 hours.
On the bright side, the outside aquarium has a beautiful deck near the ocean for great photos.
Alicia Cover
It was smaller than I was expecting (that's what she said!). But we were delighted to watch an octopus devour a large grab, river otters playing or fighting?, and my most favorite part was the tiny dwarf cuddle fish exhibit. I could have watched those cuddle fish all day... I want to take them home with me! The staff were great and took in a bunch of bags for us so we could walk around comfortably. I also really enjoyed the bird portion of the exhibit and chatting with the staff about their rehabilitation and each birds unique personality. 4 stars for price and because I've been to more impressive aquariums for this price.
Sean Lee
What a great way to learn about the local aquatic life! There is a large tank near the main entrance, where a diver will accompany a presenter and feed the fish. There is a large interactive area where we can touch the anemonies, sea stars, and urchin. The displays were well maintained and so fun to learn about. The staff members were very knowledgeable and helped answer and questions I had.
It can be as short as an hour and half, but we took our time and spent close to 3 hours there. Great experience!

Aside from the actual aquarium which is right along the waterfront with a really cool view of the city and ferris wheel, Seattle Aquarium makes efforts for marine conservation and protection of our oceans. It may be a little smaller than other big city aquariums, but the animals and fish here are well cared for and have space. Our favorite exhibits are definitely the octopus and harbor seals (Barney 😍 who is 37 years old - much older than the average seal lifespan and was born at the aquarium speaks to the care these animals receive.) There are also otter and bird exhibits, large tanks with different schools of fish, and tidal pools where children who've washed their hands can actually touch urchins, starfish, and coral. The tanks, exhibits, and bathrooms are clean and well-maintained. Staff has been friendly each time we've visited, and there are plenty of garages and nearby street parking. We most recently went to an After Hours Halloween party here that was well organized and tons of fun. I would pay the admission price just as a donation to this aquarium.
Sebastian Leal
Really nice and spacious. Had otter and sea lion feedings right across from eachother. Gift shop was pricey but had really nice items available
Brianne Warren
April 2022: I think it was worth going as part of the Seattle City Pass (which I highly recommend getting if you want to do more than 1 thing while you're there). I learned afterwards that all the sealife in there can be found in the surrounding ocean, so nothing has been brought in from afar. The interactive exhibit was awesome.
Amanda Panda
Had so much fun exploring here. Never been to an aquarium in my life and I enjoyed it a lot. Super friendly and informative staff.
K F
Fine aquarium, not too big not too small. Very friendly and helpful staff. Way too many kids running around screaming. I'm not sure if this is the new parenting technique, but it makes it quite uncomfortable for anyone without kids to be around. Probably wouldn't do it again.
Adele Klee
The Seattle Aquarium is always amazing but I highly recommend not going on a weekend. Not only was it crowded but there were unused strollers parked everywhere blocking everything, which was quite obnoxious. If you can go on a weekday, the trip is totally worth it.
Alicianna Massey
The staff and everyone here were excellent. However, we were expecting it to be much bigger, and saw everything in about 20-30 minutes. It was crowded in the late afternoon, so I'd recommend coming early. The food was great and I like how they offer to take a photo when you arrive. If you want to see more mammals or animals I'd highly suggest checking out the Seattle Zoo!
Sam Shults
Almost gave it 2 stars. Not worth it for the price.
Went here with my wife on a little date. We got in free that day since she's a teacher. I wouldn't have gone otherwise due to how expensive it is compared to the amount of exhibits. But, she hasn't been and wanted to go and, well, it was free.
The exhibits are just so small. You could easily walk the whole thing in 30 minutes unless you stopped to read every little placard or if you had kids with you. The 3 stars is just mostly the cost versus what you get to see.
The giant wall display of fish was pretty neat. The octopus was scrunched into a corner and sleeping the whole time. The jellyfish were pleasant to watch them doing their thing for a few seconds. Touching the various starfish and other things was kinda cool. The fish displays were, ehh. I guess. They were fine. The seals were mostly hidden and hard to see.
The otters, though, those were cool. I loved the otters because they're so freakin' adorable. Good lord. They're in a small, crowded place and even though it wasn't very busy, their enclosure was packed with people.
And I guess that's it. Maybe better with kids but, at that price, wow, you're paying a lot if you're taking the kids. Better to go to the Point Defiance zoo if that's your thing. Zoo and an aquarium to see all kinds of stuff. Plus the cool zen shark tank.
Cool Blue Kitten 14
I had so much fun and absolutely loved seeing all of the animals and different species! My two favorite things that I saw were the Octopus and the underwater dome with all of the fish!!! One of the otters even came up to the glass and rubbed his head right by where my hand was!!! I would highly recommend this place for all ages! It is definitely a fun and educational experience!
Zehra Akyol
Very very expensive to see trapped animals. All of them have tiny spaces, seals circle in the same tiny pool continuously. I wish they had more spaces at least, the bigger ones who have more intelligence like octopus and seals didn't look happy to me. They seem to be doing some good things for marine life such as reproducing corals, but I had mixed feelings, I wouldn't go there again.
Steam Towers
We came for the otters, we fell in love with the otters, we made a soul pact with the otters that we will take to the grave.....we love our new soul brothers from the sea. A great aquarium overall. Tell them your local because it's like a 5-10$ discount and they don't check.
Clane Gessel Studio
Honored to shoot The First Citizens 2022 at The Seattle Aquarium! It was awesome! See more photos on our website!
Saba Z
Fun place and you get touch a few of the sea orchids. It would take about 2 hours to see a the aquariums they have and spend some time outside to see the sea lions and otters.
Rick Rose
Wonderful experience. Both indoor and outdoor exhibits are interesting and well presented. The focus on Washington state coastal areas, plants and animals makes this a fantastic local experience.
Shawn Ang
Very nice place for kids to explore and learn about marine life.
They have a few different types of seals and otter tanks to watch.
Cater about 1 to 2 hours to explore
Abraham
The aquarium has expanded in recent years so it is worth stopping by if you haven't been here in a while. The entrance tickets are a bit expensive compared to the size of the aquarium but worth taking a look at it (especially if you get a good deal such city pass).
The thing I like the most is that you get to touch the anemone and sea urchins. 🤯
g 了个大G
The aquarium is awesome and definitely deserve a visit if you bought city pass. Though it's not as large as I thought, the experience is still priceless since that's the first I could see those live fishes just 10cm from my face.
BeBetter
Good place to visit in Seattle !
Right next to pier 55 where you can take a cruise.
Aquarium is very kid friendly. Lots of different types of fish and birds. Unique set up.
Definitely worth a visit when in Seattle !
Justin S.
it is a bit small compared with other aquariums
Still it is a nice place to see the sea animals.
To support the animals and the aquarium, you definitely need come here and see them !
Sami Biro
I always love going to this aquarium when I'm in town and it seems they made some updates! A very fun experience for a date or to bring the family. It's also right down on the water and part of the aquarium is outside.
Bethany Shields
my only real complaint was the rather rude photographer. i've lived in seattle for a few years and have only been to the aquarium one other time. i had the mistake of saying to a friend they offered a comped photo as every other tourist attraction around here offers comped photos + they quickly told me it was not in a snotty unwelcoming tone, which in turn did make me want to leave. who would pay 35$ for a poorly lit photo in front of a backdrop by a rude employee, couldn't be me. definitely the quaintest aquarium i've been to, but it's quite nice. smaller collection of fish but the otters, seals, and birds make it all the more worth it. overall, a very relaxing place to go when it's quiet. pretty cool the proceeds go back to the animals and sealife.
Kathleen N. Murray
Excellent aquarium with a good variety of animals. The touch portion was great with readily accessible hand wash stations and several employees on hand to talk about everything in the tank. It was a little confusing walking around since there are multiple loops and no real direction for starting from, we almost missed a set of exhibits because of the way we went around.
BossLady Rae
Great little aquarium right across from Pike Place Market. The exhibits we're very informative and friendly staff available at all times.
Sweetpea
Not a huge aquarium but very clean and you can tell their efforts are conservation at its finest. Spoke to a few of the biologists working in the different areas and you can tell they love the animals and what they do. Especially liked the octopus, Licorice. Very quaint aquarium with alot of charm.
J V
Nice aquarium, but not as good as Mystic or Boston. A bit steep on pricing.. 35.00+ for adults! 20.00 would have been fair.
Overall, a good place to bring the kids, but you can skip this as an adult, unless you are into aquariums.
Jamie C
Very underrated! I’m not sure why the reviews are low but this was the best aquarium I’ve ever been to. They had amazing ecological exhibits, were very authentic and accurate for science and nature.
The people that work there are very knowledgeable and you will learn a lot going through the whole museum. The museum is also very large and so it’ll take you at least a couple hours to get through everything the first time.
Highly recommend going during mating season. There is a lot of interaction between animals and the testosterone makes them pretty active LOL. Seeing animals roughhousing was entertaining to watch. Would return. Great for families and tourists. Locals get a discount!
Rebecca Gough
A nice experience with smaller exhibits and touch pools. Better suited for children, can be finished within 1 to 2 hrs.
Kyle Hotchkiss
Overall a very enjoyable experience!
The staff was friendly, and some of the larger tanks connected to the bay had a ton of fish and were incredibly fun to sit and watch. The additional exhibits of birds and sea lions and otters were also really nice.
Jonah Oxley
They have a lot more animals here than I expected. The prices are high but once you get inside you can immediately see where all of that money is going. There is a tide pool touching exhibit, bird and land mammal exhibits, rip tide tanks. The price is bit something I would be willing to pay often but for a one time experience it was worth it.
xoSkyCloudss :p
It's nice small center. Fun to take the kids there once in awhile. Kind of pricey, it's like $34 or $35 per adult. And They don't have shark in the aquarium, no sea turtles, missing lots of basic sea lives like, lobsters, squid. They have one giant lonely octopus in a narrow tank.
Dan Cesaro
Really nice aquarium. No wait to get in on a weekend morning. A lot of different things to see besides just fish.
Jonathan Escalante
The Seattle Aquarium is a delightful place for all ages. The staff is friendly, the Aquarium is clean, and they obey all state health orders. This particular day I brought my mother, fighting cancer, and was impressed with the staff. They were kind and brought my mother into the air-conditioned building as I waited in line. There was plenty of seating for her to rest as she found herself needing to sit from time to time. The facility was not overcrowded, and there were plenty of open places for us to enjoy the fresh air and beautiful views. I was able to create a beautiful memory, have a personal conversation and reflection. For this, I will be forever grateful to the Seattle Aquarium and its staff. It's these little things that change the lives of others. Thank you.
Scott J
A truly beautiful aquarium. Top 3 activities in Seattle. Highly recommend. Large touch tanks and open air harbor seals.
Dustin Erdman
I am sure that the Seattle Aquarium does honorable preservation work and contributes to the marine sciences through research. From a visitor standpoint, however, the Seattle Aquarium has limited offerings.
It seems that coral reefs are the speciality, making up the lion share of the exhibits. These are crucial to life and a joy to observe.
Lukas Kucinski
Surprisingly awesome. Came in with low expectations based off other reviews. It is pricey, but worth it. Admittedly not much of an aquarium goer, but I thought the exhibits were well maintained and relevant to the area. Some very photogenic tanks. Came in on a Sunday, not that busy. Every Seattleite should go.
Maria Miller
Such a fun aquarium. I thought it would be bigger, but we spent 2 hours and we could’ve spent a lot longer. They have so many animals. The prettiest fish you’ll ever see.
Jaime
A bit small, but a good family experience nonetheless. Between woodland park zoo, point defiance zoo, and this place i’d put this last but why not visit all of them and support all animals
Masoud Mehrabi
Not as good as the Vancouver aquarium but pretty cool nonetheless (Vancouver's has Penguins and Dolphins, Seattle's does not). The seals and otters were the highlights for me.
P.S., for fans of video games, while the exterior does resemble how it is depicted in the Last of Us Part II, the interior does not! I was pretty disappointed!
Wendy Salazar
The place was beautiful and clean. Wearing a mask is optional. I came here with my family. My baby enjoyed looking at all the mammals. You get to touch sea urchin and starfish. I had a lot of fun. They give refunds in case you had extra tickets. I really liked coming here. The bathrooms were super clean too. I'd definitely would recommend everyone to come here at least once.
Llorito Castanares Todd
My wife and I love the sea and it's animals. We visit every aquarium we can. This place was very clean and organized, we only wish it was bigger especially for the size of the entry fee.
Amanda Maebell
This was our first time to ever go. I was excited to take our eight year old. I spent $93.00 on two adults and one child. We were in there all of 35 minutes. A couple of things were cool to see but honestly it wasn’t worth the money. There were also so many people it was ridiculous. The bathroom was clean so that’s a plus. The aquarium was so small inside.
Emily Reedy Parker
Love this place for kids! Everyone one can enjoy but definitely a fun place to let children let loose and learn. I went to see the octopus 🐙 …
John Gilmore
I absolutely love aquariums and this one is good but not as good as what I expected for Seattle. It did check a lot of boxes, they have tide pools and petting zones as well as some amazing creatures I have never seen before and overall was a pleasure.
Tokyo Addicted
It is a beautiful aquarium, it’s just a limited in its size and some of the exhibits feel a bit dated. I felt you could walk through it in an hour. They have very cool an unique exhibits though, especially the outdoor annex with beach plants, water fowl and tidal pools.
Tad Bixby
Simply delightful and full of surprises! Animals from land, sea and air that fly, swim, walk and run from all over the world. Meet a Giant Pacific Octopus, Seals, Otters and more. Roll up your sleeves, wash your hands and use one finger to pet some very colorful anemone and get finger hugs from sea urchin! But face it, Giant Pacific Octopus are AMAZING!
UPDATE: NEW Giant Pacific Octopus named Orbit is 2yo and 30lbs!
Veronika Stine
Really fun! Lots of seals, otters, and fish to look at. A little pricey, but worth it because you can touch the alge and sea urchins! Sea urchins give your finger a hug! Love it!
Mish S1977
It was a quiet day at the Seattle Aquarium. Small but some nice exhibits. Convenient location near Pike Place Market...part of City Pass Ticket
Ayon Ibrahim
Definitely cool and especially great for kids, but far too expensive. Still, some of the money goes for conservation research and I do like that…
Libni Chavez
I would say the only bad thing about the Aquarium is that it is hard to find parking around (but that's Seattle for you) and that in my opinion it is on the smaller side; however, the exhibits were very well done, and their staff extremely passionate and educational, you could spend hours in the dome alone and I absolutely loved meeting and learning about Mochi (resident octopus) the Aquarium is definitely a must see staple in Seattle.
Brandon Garcia
Came with the City Pass (amazing value, you should get it if you’re visiting). It’s my first time visiting this aquarium and I really enjoyed the exhibits! Learning about the different local wildlife and how some are endangered is very interesting. I really enjoyed seeing the seal, octopus and the birds! There’s also an amazing observation deck of the water!!! Definitely worth coming to at least once!
Joe Kuykendall
This was such a fun visit !! Saw some super cool looking sea life , wasn't too crowded at all and the underwater dome was beautiful. A place I've been wanting to visit for a while and was not disappointed !
Lauren Alexander
Such a great aquarium for littles! So nice being able to get up close to all the creatures and enjoy the Seattle waterfront after.
Jake Camargo
One of best aquariums I've been to. Well worth the price. So much to see and just the environment with it positioned on the pier is awesome. I definitely recommend going here
Niki Flood
So fun! My kids and I loved the tide pools and “urchin hugs” were definitely a highlight for us! We also really enjoyed the otters!
The K Green Show
This aquarium is focused on conservation of the puget sound area and highlights the species indigenous to the area. It is a very small aquarium in comparison to many others I have visited. Has a lovely pet the sea creatures area for people to touch with one finger.. not to hold or caress like your pet cat so please don't, and several cool otters and seals. Went as part of the city pass else I probably would not have enjoyed paying full price. Children will love it as children do. Plan on an hour and ten minutes ish unless you have kids.
Sheilla Thomas
Nice place but its very small. Took maybe less than 30 minutes to walk through and we spent more time in the gift shop than the aquarium. Ok experience
sandy Purcell
Got the City Pass so we went
It was really small. The Jelly fish display was cool. The octopus just got the so he was acclamating to his new home. It was ok but good for little kids
Chris Hanna
It’s a very nice aquarium with a lot of interesting exhibits. Most of them are very well done however we felt bad for the sea lion. I hope they redo his home in the future.
Tracy and Bobby Robinson
Smaller than anticipated. Lots of fish! The dome was pretty cool! The show with the seals was cool too.
jeff reader
Smaller aquarium but very fun. Great place to spend some time and relax. My family bought the yearly membership which pays for itself in two visits and you get three hours validated parking across the street. My 4 month old daughter loves this place and will stare at the tanks and fish swimming for as long as we will let her. Great place for kids and adults alike!!
Jacob Samuel
It’s cool and they do good work here but don’t expect a zoo full of aquatic creatures. This is more of an educational experience. Takes about an hour, buy in conjunction with the city pass for the best value.
Lisa Janousek
Great aquarium! It is a really fantastic place for family gatherings or tourist stop and worth visiting!
Annie Vreeke
One of my absolute favorite aquariums. Definitely visit the harbor seals outside and the sea otters. Very friendly staff.
W Gobert
A great experience especially with family. Indoor and outdoor (otters, sea lions, sea birds) exhibits.
David Dindo
Wonderful spot for a date. The staff were helpful and informative. I wish I remembered her name but a nice lady showed my girlfriend and I how urchins give a "hug" when touched. Will go again.
jeanette lumpkin
Wonderful experience. All the mammals interacted with the kids. We will come back soon!
LLL
Nice little experience, don’t need to waste time in the front to take photos unless you planning to buy it🪝will definitely recommended to people have kids under 14+. Very nice staff team and clean environment. Highly recommended this location and will come back again …
Brandy Greene
It’s a small aquarium. But it was a nice one. Saw a lot of the normal aqua life.
Jeff Sharpe
A small private aquarium with a reasonable selection of exhibits. The price here is higher than other publicly funded or patron-funded aquariums, but as long you're good with the price, the quality is pretty good.
There are a number of nice touch pools and exhibits with local fish, which feels pretty standard at this point. Some of the standouts are a fully underwater observation room, seals, river otters, and fairly rare sea otters.
This isn't the sort of place you'll spend the day, but it was a pleasant way to spend a couple hours.
Mark Steele
Super fun and informative venue for all ages. Everything was clean and organized systematically.
Plenty of learning opportunities around every corner. Lots of intelligent and helpful staff too.
Loved the murals towards the end that addressed our role in environmental consciousness.
I heard the venue is expanding too. Hopefully, will be done on our next trip.
Especially on a gorgeous day, can spend a few hours here no problem.
Maggie Mills
Small aquarium, but tons of fun. They have a great touch tank with a lot of urchins, sea cucumbers, anemones, and starfish! The conservation work they do was amazing to learn about. All of their seals and otters were fun to watch too! Great place for the whole family.
BCOwings
It's cool be maybe and hour and a half to two hours worth of stuff to see.
Anonymous
Better than the Birch Aquarium back home in SD this place was nice especially for a tourist. You can either pay online or in person they have different queue lines for both options. Either way they limit the entry per time slot, so only 80-120 people are allowed tickets 9-10am etc. Once you’re inside you can stay in for as long as you’d like.
The fish are more on the indigenous side which I thought was cool it definitely steers towards environmentalism it’s very educational and fun for kids.
You can touch these plants that are in the front like dip your finger in the water, you can stand under jellyfish, there’s a giant dome full of sturgeons, salmon, and other fishies. They even have all of the fish from finding nemo and that usually gets people laughing.
It’s bigger than I thought and right when it opens if you’re the first person to speed run through, it can seem really difficult to find your way around. Like you have to open large doors that look like they’re for employees only very interesting.
There were tons of fish and even amphibians and birds! Thought it was cool they have an aviary again like I said geared towards PNW conservation environmentalism.
Would take my wife here next time I’m up so we can see dory and nemo again.
Serena Callihan
Overall, not a bad visit. Not as exciting as I'd hoped. The crowd, even during timed visit entries were hectic. We took our two young children, and there were a lot of adults pushing through them to see the tanks. We tried to keep the rule of "take a look for a couple of minutes and then move on." So we weren't standing in front of the tank for a long time. Even then, people were pushing through and jumping in front of our two young children in order to get a better view. It would've been nice if it was regulated a little better or workers there to make sure people were respectful (there were plenty of workers but they just stood around). It would be very educational for 6 years old and up and pretty cool experience for all ages aside from the crowd.
Reghan German
Wonderful place to spend an hour or two! Although on the smaller side, I was keen on the fact that a lot of the animals were local to the area. I'm often not into zoos/aquariums for how the animals look distressed or trapped but the animals here really seem well taken care of and loved here. Take for example, Barney, one of 3 harbor seals at the aquarium. Barney is 37 years old!!! The typical life span of a harbor seal is 20-25 years old. What I loved most about my experience today was how helpful the staff/volunteers were. I love learning about animals and I felt so welcomed to come up and ask anyone affiliated with the aquarium my questions. I was intrigued by the coral propagation and think the aquarium is doing a wonderful job educating its visitors on what is living and happening in the water.
Jeff Potts
The aquarium was nice but was super crowded. We had a two year old with us and the displays were only interesting to her for a few moments. The aquarium costs more than the Woodland Park Zoo and we were able to spend a lot more time walking around looking at things at the zoo. Might be worth the money for older kids or adults that want to spend more time at each tank but the value wasn't great for us.
NorthVan Larry
We like it, but we missed some of the shows. Overall, it is worth visiting.
Anh Ly
Beautiful aquarium but it's relatively small compared to others in the nation
Allie L
Super cute, the volunteers were very knowledgeable and friendly. Kid friendly of course, but I do wish the parents would actually control their children. Accessible, I went through the whole aquarium with a rollator. Loved the conservation and rehabilitation work they spoke of, fun place to visit!
Christian West
So much fun. Great exhibits. And such a wonderful variety of animals to see. Plus I love that their water supply is literally pumped directly in from the ocean below. It ensures the animals are getting the right water quality and nutrients in the water that they need.
Jim Freed
Went for the aquarium after dark, which was a 6/5 stars. Such a fun time and we'll planned and thought out when compared to similar events hosted but other public science centers in the area. Especially nice without kids everywhere and recommend the after dark events to everyone. Fun times, DJ, other guests performing. Food was very unique and was alright but one of 2 options was vegan and did not seem good, the other option was good but the food was just sitting out so it was cold, stale, and could have been much better if kept more fresh. Normal visit with kids and crowds, it is more challenging to enjoy. Was a little disappointed with the amount of natural decorations like kelp, lots of obviously fake kelp. Looking forward to the expansion for sure, but I think there could be more local tank like a deep pacific ocean exhibit. I think the local freshwater exhibit is very well done.
Aurora
Cute little aquarium. Loved the goofy sea lions and river otters. It’s one of the smaller aquariums I’ve been to. Definitely geared more toward elementary kids and younger. My adult brother and I still enjoyed the different exhibits.
Jennifer Lemus
Absolutely lovely place and the is to notch. They took the time to really explain all the wonderful sea creatures to my 9 year old that keeps journals of all creatures he encounters. Wonderful layout and tons of amazing fish, birds, and animals.
Tric Delic-ious
One of our best experiences in Seattle. The staff were so friendly and informative. We spent almost 3 hours here walking back and forth through the different exhibits, each time observing new and wonderful views. The seals and otters were absolutely adorable.
Morgan
Worth the trip for the Pacific Northeastern Octopus that they capture and release each year. At this time because of COVID the feeding is not announced because of crowds but we got to see Licorice (the octopus) swim and change colors, it was amazing. They also had a great walk through jelly fish display in the same room with tide pool displays where you can pet the anemones and sea cucumbers. There is a coral growth room and a salmon hatchery. I was surprised for being located on a doc that there was a whole separate section with seals, birds and other wild life that you walk outdoor and up a ramp to. They also have a small gift store. Absolutely worth it!!
Marcin Bojanczyk
This place is on the smaller side, but very full of things to see. My 21 month old loves it, especially the touch tank. Super bonus for the 3 hours of validated parking by Pike Place. My two gripes would be that members don't have the same entrance availability as folk who buy tickets (we'll see sold out for a time slot while those buying a single day ticket do have availability), and there's no reciprocity with other aquariums. That said, this is a perfect place to spend some time, especially on rainy days.
Brian Tayloe
Cool place! Great volunteers. Looks like they are expanding too.
Lilia Dronyayeva
This aquarium is rather small, but there are plenty of great touch tanks for kids and the stars of the show are definitely the harbor seals outside.
charley cook
I love this Aquarium! With all the construction parking is a bit pricey or you have to walk a fair distance. But once the construction is done it's going to be such a beautiful Waterfront and there will be a lot more parking. Be mindful not to park in the construction parking zones.
Cat Cosby
We took my kids for a fun day at the aquarium. The staff was so welcoming. They took the time to explain things and encourage my kids to engage. They encouraged them and gave fun learning moments. We had so much fun.
Isabel Bishop
This is a great place to explore and wander. Looks small from the outside but quite a variety of animals and exhibits. Great for children especially, lots of hands on and educational experiences! I wish there was more for adults and it can get a bit crowded, but I'm looking forward to their new expansion!
Alaa Alk
Start your visit with this nice place, it has lots of animals, i give 4 stars because it can be better.
Vera Daetz
It is a very nice place and a great learning experience, for kids and adults.
Vanja Cingel
Pleasant attraction which doesn't take long to get into, if you haven't reserved your time.
Nice exhibits, knowledgeable and friendly staff, overall, very fun. I only gave four stars because Vancouver and Toronto aquariums are much better in terms of display. Otherwise, it's a must-see, especially for families with kids!
H D
Fun for all three generations of my family. Touch pools are large, and the tropical fish are beautiful.
Tom Veatural
Great place to spend half a day looking at fishes. Good social distancing program by giving people time slot for entrance. A lot of educational information about native fishes. Beautiful view of Seattle skyline. Free street parking on Sunday and holidays.
Nathan Kroll
Amazing place! So many great photo opportunities. Friendly informative staff, really clean facility.
Valerie Brayton
Loved it because there aren'tany more whales or Polar bears in captivity there. Very fun for toddlers too! They has staff to educate and answer questions and some spectacular thanks. My Grandson loved it and my teenage Granddaughter tolerated our fun and smiled at least twice .
Josh E
Awesome aquarium with some pretty cool animals. The info was also laid out in a way that was really easy to read, and the employees were really helpful and knowledgeable about the animals they were working with. Would definitely recommend going if you're in the area
Lilly Peterman
Absolutely amazing set up, filled with cool animals and information- touch tank, coral nursery, fish, shell fish, sea lions, many more! Mostly indoor, some outdoor but covered, wheelchair accessible- can take you 90 minutes if you walk through moderately quickly, I was there for three hours :D— they have people there to explain things and answer questions about the sea life, they are all volunteers and are amazing!
Caitlin Renee Steuer
Fantastic aquarium for babies and toddlers. Very stroller friendly with free parking across the street.
Jasmine T (Jasmine)
They had a night time 21+ event and that was a really cool experience to see the aquarium at night.
Rick T
Very nice attraction and alot of sea aquatics.
Brian Zientak
Super cool spot. Very educational and diverse exhibits. Kids seemed to love it. The otters were adorable and my girlfriend and myself spent quite a while watching them. Worth the price of admission without a doubt
robert wakeland
The aquarium was nice and it didn't feel crowded. Plenty to see for a good experience. The best aquarium I've been to was the Shed aquarium in Chicago. However, this aquarium was more than adequate for an outing on the pier with so many other attraction directly around it and the scenery it wasn't just about the aquarium the whole experience was top notch!
Ayo Peters
What a fantastic experience! We saw aquatic animals that I never thought existed. This is a must-see for tourists.
Kim McClendon
Featuring sea lions, otters, and some giant fish tanks! This is a nice place for kids - there are "touch tanks" where you can touch sea anemones and starfish! Right at the entrance there's a floor-to-ceiling tank where a diver inside answers your questions (look online for times, this usually every hour or so, I think). It's not the biggest aquarium, but I spent an easy couple of hours there and read about half the signage.
Desiree Duarte
Lovely afternoon with my kids. The Seattle Aquarium is a great destination for families.
Judith Thomas - Logan
The aquarium was busy Labor Day, though still has fun walking around, watched the otters, touched the sea urchin.
It is worth buying membership for the Aquarium.
Will be curious to see when the Aquarium will expand and have more information exhibits sea mammal.
Courtney Shaffer
It was a great place to spend the day with our 4yo. We were almost late for our time slot, because we did have some issues finding parking, but maybe there's somewhere you're supposed to park, I'm not sure. I already can't wait to go back but will probably consider becoming a member as they start charging ~$20 at 4 years of age. Oh, and I was very pleasantly surprised that the touch tanks were open. I wasn't sure how C19 would affect that.
Mike Roberts
Small but nice exhibits. It was a fun experience
Jamison Komaiko
I know people are saying the aquarium is small and all other negative things about this aquarium, but personally, I had a great time! I got to go with the CityPass and I have no complaints. There are plenty of exhibits and stuff for kids. I would gladly go again! The sea lions were my favorite 😜! …
Hailey Phan
Beautiful and well maintenance aquarium. Even though lots of families and kids here but everyone keeps it quiet and relaxing. The membership is worth the money but the ticket itself is not affordable compares to the size and the variety of fishes here (sadly, no sharks no dolphins).
Lauren Galt
Went for a Halloween event, all the staff were lovely and the atmosphere was great. The aquarium is just a little small.
Rachel Leighton
I'm not sure if the aquarium has gotten smaller since I was a kid or if I just outgrew the aquarium but I remember it being a lot bigger and more impressive. My young kids(2 and 3 years old) seemed to really enjoy themselves. This is the first time in probably a decade I've been to an aquarium but I think I prefer the one in Point Defiance over the Seattle one.
Bon Val
I took my grandkids to the aquarium. It was our first visit. The interior of the building looks very good considering how old it is. There were little kiosks set up here and there, good directional signage and informational plaques. The animals and fish looked well. The kids (5,7,12) had a good time there and learned some things too! A great place to take your family, a friend or just visit by yourself. Highly recommended!
Carolyn Wei
Marine mammals, sea life, and sea birds. What more can you want? This is a fantastic aquarium. I can’t wait till the expansion is completed that will connect the aquarium with the Pike Place Market level.
Pro-tip: park in the Pike Place Market garage on Western, and ask at the aquarium for a parking voucher. That will give you 3 hours free.
another-citlali
The aquarium is great. 2 hours of walking around. The exhibits are really nice and the staff there is super knowledgeable about the animals, talking to them makes the experience way better. (Ticket + parking is around $50-$60)
Courtnie Weaver
This was such a fun experience! They allow guests to gently touch the sea animals and they have more than a typical aquarium! We were able to see otters, sea lions, and plenty of birds. The only down side was the picture system crashed and they lost a bunch of groups photos.
Christopher Yang
I really loved this aquarium. The underwater dome, the birds, the large mammals (harbor seals, fur seals, river otters, sea otters) were all highlights. We arrived right at opening on a weekday; by the time we were leaving, a school trip arrived and it certainly got more chaotic, especially at the petting area. I've seen some poor comparisons to the Shedd, but I certainly enjoyed this aquarium more. If you're hoping for trained dolphins doing tricks, you'll be disappointed here, but the more naturalistic focus here was great for us.
Mary Maas
Our grandson saw this as we walked towards the waterfront from Pike Place Market. So we went there! It was terrific. So glad we did. It was a great experience and educational for them. And I personally adore sea otters!
Shoshana Farland
I love the small and cute aquarium. I really love that they thrive as a research and recovery facility. I had a great time viewing all animals and wish them all a successful recovery. :) I would definitely go back!
P X
Great aquarium built right into the sound.
Prebook tickets, the confirmation email has the address of a garage where you get 3 hours for free. You can easily spend 3 hours there.
Staff is always friendly and helpful. If your lucky you will see the octopus while it is out.
Puget Sound
A very friendly and knowledgeable staff makes it a good experience. The volunteers really make a big difference. Go immerse yourself with all the sea creatures. Touching them with one finger will bring a smile to your face.
Momo Lebrun
Loved it here. It's just a serene space and the sea otter and sea lion experience was amazing to say the least.
Francisco Gutierrez
The experience was amazing. We really enjoyed visiting the aquarium. My daughter loved the otters so much that we bought a stuffed animal and named her mishka.
Although our visit to the aquarium was pleasant, I have to say that our parking experience was not. We parked at Hillclimb garage. Paid almost $50 to park and ended up getting a ticket for "Not paying".
Dylan B
Nice place. Lots of touch pools for kids. The underwater dome was my favourite feature. Not as big as I had hoped. Maybe half the size or smaller compared to the Vancouver Aquarium.
Veronica
Very nice to see the fish but I couldn’t enjoy the sea creatures because most of them were not visible in the morning
Joe Ludwig
The fish, aquatic life and other animals on display are fun to see, but the overall size of the museum was incredibly underwhelming. Perhaps I'm biased since my closest home aquarium is the Shedd in Chicago--which we usually have to cut off from viewing at a certain point since it easily takes up an entire day to go through. I believe we were in and out of the Seattle Aquarium in under 90 minutes. It would be more reasonable if the tickets weren't $40 per adult.
Sepherah Hale
I loved going here. The guides here I believe were volunteering, from what I remember. They were really informative and nice. It was a really cool experience to have the spiny sea creatures close their spikes around my finger because they "sensed" it was there, crazy cool. Their spikes can't penetrate human skin to poison people, just little fish, which they eat.
J. B.
Awesome aquarium!
Bought tickets at 5pm (last call), and was able to tour the aquarium with little to no other visitors present. Upon entering, I was met with a wall of sea life. On the side of it was a cylinder enclave that allowed for great photos. Passing the wave/ reef simulation, I entered the "touch pool" (but not able to do so to date), and was met with 2 very knowledgeable employees who answered my every question about the sea life present. Giant Pacific Octopus caught my attention as it sprawled its glass aquarius. After the fish tanks, the bird area, and the overhead aquarium dome, I was stuck watching the otters play. 1 spun in the water constantly (wish I knew if that was normal), while the other 2 floated on their backs. After, salmon exhibit and River Otters paved the way to the exit. Store was closed at this time as I left, and proceeded down the pier to watch a wonderful sun set slowing making it's way down the mountain ranges of Washington. Fin.
Erin McGee
Well organized, especially amid the pandemic. Great experience for children and adults alike. My favorite area was the underwater dome near the end. Very special to see fish swimming above and all around you. I also felt the tanks were all well-maintained and clean. Well worth the visit!
iamar Kinhawk
I was surprised to find that I was there for almost two hours. A relaxing space to learn.
Colten Munyon
It's a good aquarium for not technically being on the Coast.
If you get the City Pass it is definitely worth going, I don't feel full price is worth it.
The Newport OR aquarium is a better aquarium.
Eben Sutton
Fantastic exhibits, including on this visit a large octopus and river otters playing. Lots of touch pools for the kiddos, each with a helpful volunteer. Ask about an under-appreciated local celebrity: the aquarium's long-billed curlew.
Tim Kelly
It really is a cool place, and there are many neat fish and other aquatic life to see and even interact with, but the value for the money is absolutely not there IMHO.
If the kids admission was about half price, it might start to be more appealing, but as it stands it was about $120 for myself, my wife, and our 4 & 6 year old boys.
Thomas Kim
They have quite a few different species, but nothing too exciting or special.
Helena Ramirez-Watson
Not as big or extensive as other aquariums I have been to, but they make up for that by having things like an underwater dome, multiple touch tanks (even though my nephew refused to touch anything) and being all about PNW conservation and education. It's a great place to take kids for a couple of hours and would be even fun to read all of the information and learn without kids.
Azim Kasimov
Nice play to spend time with kids. Keep in mind that you can park in pike place parking and Seattle aquarium gives you a ti ket that makes your parking free. Limit is 3 hours. I wish i could know that all the times i was there before.
SoonLee
Loved loved Aquarium. Actually I didn't like the gift shop. Young lady with black hair and dark eyes stepped away from the register to watch just myself. Little to her dismay, I spent quite a bit more then what she anticipated. She had a harden exterior. Sorry to disappoint you hun I have money. She disappeared before I finished my shopping. Too bad would of loved to see her reaction.
Carrie Clark
We love coming here!!! Its so nice and clean. We get the city pass when we visit otherwise its pretty expensive.
Lori Atkinson
I have not been to an aquarium in years! I visited my son and daughter in law last week and we spent some time at the aquarium. What an awesome place! The employees there are so kind and informative!
Kesten Davis
Seattle Aquarium is heavily involved in conservator work which makes visiting an intensely enriched day out.
I highly recommend using the time of entry ticket. They take your temperature before you enter and are strictly controlling the number of people in the building . They have markers on the floor to help with social distancing and all folks (staff or guest) must wear a mask.
Bonus...you can buy a mask from the gift shop or even online. I personally adore my octopus mask.
I highly recommend the Aquarium. Signing up for a specific entry time was significant in making our visit amazing!
Helena Kingfisher R
A delightful, safe family outing or place to take a date.
Their new covid precautions are great—I would have visited sooner if I knew how few people would be there. Their timed ticket system and one-way route of the aquarium seem to be working well.
Going through the whole aquarium took us about 1 and a half hours. You could stay even longer if the weather is nice and you spend some extra time watching the seals from their outdoor seating!
Elizabeth Dawes
Best aquarium I’ve visited!
MDH
Not a large aquarium, but we love going there
Kerri Dellinger
This is a fun indoor activity for both kids and adults. Plan for spending 1-3 hours to see everything. There are many exhibits featuring PNW aquatic life, including an octopus, sea otters, and seals. The underwater dome was the highlight during our visit.
Delta Varela-Glos
Went for a private event and we had a great time. The touch tanks were open and we got to watch them feed the otters! This was such a beautiful space for a beautiful day.
Jarred S.
Went here while on a short visit to Seattle. For the three of us it was almost $100. There is a decent amount of stuff to check out but I do feel it was a bit expensive for what it was. For younger kids it probably would be a cool place to visit (and a little cheaper for young ones) but for older kids there may be better ways to spend $100 to entertain them.
MeL VL
Nice small aquarium and good for an hour or two when visiting the city if you like to explore the under water world. They do a decent job of trying to get people to social distance by limiting the number of visitors through reservations and floor signage however with children and larger groups it would have been nice if staff were available in different areas to remind people as well.
The exhibits are nice however I felt the price was a bit inflated for the experience. Also I wish there were staff available at the different areas to answer some of the many questions I had - you are left to try to read wall plaques and match what you are seeing to what is on the plaque photo.
novita liangga kumala
The staffs were really friendly, helpful and informative. The signage to ensure flow and distance were clear for me. They really ensure the capacity of the aquarium so ppl can keep their distances.
In addition, my favorite were probably how they package the 'practical next steps' to avoid causing more harm to wildlife and environment. Next steps are practical and doable even for kids!
NaNa M
Not worth the price. They have no big fish such as sharks, dolphins, or stingrays. The deck is nice and they have some nice tanks to look at but overall not impressed like I was with the aquariums in Florida, Tennessee, California, and Chicago.
Michael Murphy
Quick and easy… love the otters, harbor seals… and more
Jana
Very nice place to visit with kids and showcase them different species of Ocean. New thing to learn for me is, there are few Birds which can fly, walk as well as Swim.
I felt the Admission Fee is a bit higher for Seattle Aquarium. Have been to few Aquariums especially Atlanta Aquarium, which is huge compared to Seattle one, The Admisaion fee for Atlanta Aquarium includes Dolphin show too has just few dollar price difference than Seattle.
Marcel
Went there during my trip to Seattle in Nov-2022. When I bought a ticket at the entrance I tought "Wow over $30, this is a bit high, for such a small building". But at the end, it was worth it every Cent, only also due to the fact of the outside venues, where you can spot seals, sea and river otters and many more. I would recommend this place to other visitors.
Naz Mufti
It's not worth the price. It's tradition for my husband and I to go to aquariums in different states. This one was the most medicore to the ones compared in Chicago, Tennessee, California, and Florida. No big big fish, no dolphins, no sting rays, no sharks. The outside was nice. Maybe if you're trying to kill time but not too impressed.
Eduardo Laureano
Very nice place. The staff was very knowledgeable about the whole aquarium.
Steve Stone
We enjoyed the aquarium.Cant wait to return after the new shark and rays experience is finished.
Brandon ActR
Good sized aquarium, nice diversity of exhibits. My own gripe was the amount of unsupervised children running around screaming and blocking the views. Though , that's the parent's fault, not the aquarium's.
Deb Venable
Covid style the touch pools are all closed. But they do have fun and friendly staff that energetically tell you about the creatures in the pools. They don't super micro-manage you like some places do now with rules Rules RULES (looking at your WP zoo), so it has the same fun feel as before just with masks now and no touching to explore. You get to go through everything once on a one way path, but when you are done you get the option of going back through any exhibit that you want, so of course we went back to the octopus because that is my littles favorite. Takes about an hour and a half for us to get through at a leisurely pace stopping at each exhibit. Very family friendly and fun activity that ALL my kids can enjoy at once.
Reegan Mair
This place was the best, but sadly I missed the great Pacific octopus which was my main reason for going. They should perhaps warn visitors of this as it's a rare attraction - i can't be the only person who went specifically to see it. Or maybe I am just that big of a dork. But I shouldn't be forced to confront that fact.
Emily Woodward
One of the best aquariums I've ever been to. Plus the location just adds to the experience. Even saw some otters just outside which was so fun.
May Farrell
It was really cool!! So many cute sea creatures. They are big on conservation. The puffins and river otters are super cute.
Brendan McNeill
Great experience overall, little spendy but the otters are worth every penny.
Michelle Masson
Took my teenage daughter mid-week and it was lovely. Not crowded at all, very quiet and we were able to take our time where we wanted to. It was bigger than I remembered, but still pretty small for a port city which is why I give it 4 stars. They've recently released their octopus into the wild, which is FANTASTIC and I'm very proud of them, but it was still kind of disappointing as she was always a favorite.
They've got the whole thing marked for one-way traffic, which is a great idea but a couple of signs weren't completely clear, and we got stuck at one point because the couple in front of us wanted to watch the seahorses for a while (can't blame them, the seahorses are mesmerizing) and there wasn't enough room to get around them because there was another exhibit on the other side. We ended up watching the screen and learning more about the rockfish, which was fun too.
Garrick Bennett
Great time at the aquarium, our toddler loved the fish and all the rest of the creatures on exhibit. They do a great job of showcasing but also advocating for species.
Bon Bon
I loved it!!😍 The location is perfect lot of things are near By for example Seattle great wheel... etc parking lot is hard to fine for free if you do you lucky but if you’re willing to Pay that’s great and if you are in Inventure person you can take the train and bus.. …
Magnus Thomasson
It's ok .compared to most city aquariums it's small and underwhelming. No sharks except a few small ones in the large some room. No shows going on not sure if they had any...I think they should definitely add more especially for a big city aquarium. Enjoyed my time with what I saw but have seen way bigger and better even in my home state of ct has two nice big ones that are better it seems this place should be much better
Carlos Sierra
Always relaxing. Not to big, not too small. Parking across the street is a rip off. I park at Benaroya and walk. Good place for small kids. Love it!
Dave Hinojosa
Very enjoyable! Peaceful place to visit. Loved all of the fish, mammals, birds & invertebrates. The Salmon ladder was great to learn about.
Lucero Marquez
You ever have those weeks where you just need a win? Man, the new year really started off that way for me but I am so thankful to have had interacted with Kay. They put a smile on my face while at the ticketing booth and I was able to enjoy the aquarium so much more. Thank you Kay, and I hope the Seattle Aquarium realizes what a fantastic employee they have on their hands!
Protato
Really fun. Workers are helpful and extremely knowledgeable on the various exhibits set up around, with each theme being fun to explore. Only gripe is that I wanted to see more 😅 …
Kyle M
We had an excellent time at the aquarium. The staff were very friendly and there was a lot to see. We parked nearby for about $20 and walked a couple blocks. There is plenty of food nearby to make a day of it. You also get a discounted price if you are a Washington resident which is nice.
nathaniel dread
Excellent experience but not as large as it could be compared to other states (NJ). However, they have sea lions and otters, and they let you touch the starfish and sea cucumbers...
Aquatic Pet Care, Inc
Small but fun place to learn about ocean.
S “Shyi” M
No this place! This was a great moment. It not Sea World, but a great place to shows they take great care of all the animals. The cuties area was the otters. Great fish and the starfish coordinator was very knowledgeable, and enjoyed talking about the different kinds of starfish and sealife in his section. This place is a "Shyi Recommended!!!!" take your kids, they'll enjoy it easy to pay for tickets online or in person, and one there,, its and easy way to walk though the whole aquarium. Go there and tell them Shyi sent you 😉
Allison S
I love how the aquarium posts educators at exhibits to enhance the experience for visitors. Good selection of animals and the perfect size for younger children.
TJ B
Loved seeing different types of birds, jellyfish and my favorite, harbor seals. Interesting that the aquarium pumps water into its displays straight from the ocean below!
Patty Stone
Took the grandson, had an amazing time! The touch tanks can keep him busy for a long time. Great atmosphere, educational and fun
Paul Thompson
Great pla e to spend with kids for a few hours. Staff is always very courteous.
Sean Austin
To start, overly priced for what they have. Small engagement area. Did like the sturgeon in the large tank. Outdoors is nice where the seals and otters are.
Jaikishan Tekwani
Very good experience, good diversity in species, well-maintained street side parking. Should consider buying a pass compared to the one-time ticket.
Drake A
So much fun it was so cool. I would say this very nice. I've been to many aquariums and I got say this one was pretty good. For the amount of space they have they really got it down. It has a whole lot of neat things. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.
Jennifer Russell
It was neat, way to pricey for the little bit that we actually got to see. My personal favorite was all the outside things.
I was excited to go because my son's school had there prom here, I see why he was disappointed now though.
Tyler Martindale
Always a fun day at the aquarium :)
Will Jackson
Had a amazing time and my daughter loved it, till it was time to get something to eat and found out they only took credit cards no cash. So we had to leave and go to pike place to get some food
Holly Johnson
When we first walked in there was an employee in scuba gear in the tank that had a microphone and was telling us about the fish and wildlife she was working with. It was very cool! I was disappointed with the dome tank. We were hoping to see more sharks. But everything else was really cool! It was also nice to be able to step outside and see the Puget Sound. Also, the otters and seals were so cute!
Anz Cho
I love coming here !
In about 1.5 hours you can cover everything here .
Loved the seals & octopus feeding times.
Enquire about different feeding times before coming here .
They have interesting sessions & presentation for school groups, you can reserve that too.
Enquire about free entry for public school students groups as well .
Food court & gift shop were expensive though , luckily I bought my own food.
S Bee
Excellent! Physically accessible except for a few stairwells that don't have ramps to get up close to exhibits. There aren't any signs indicating what you're looking at; instead they have a monitor cycling through with an image and a text blurb about each creature in the tank. You have to be able to read quickly and you're out of luck if English isn't your first language. Not good for visual tracking, taking notes, or getting a picture to look it up later. It's easier to get a picture of the animal and look it up using Google Lens or Reverse Image Lookup. Beyond that, it's a blast. It was crowded on a weekday, I can't imagine what it looks like on weekends.
Kiana McMillan
It's ok, didn't seem like a whole lot was there to see/ do. A bit over priced for such a seemingly small aquarium, but I was there for my daughter's 7th birthday and she enjoyed herself.
Bhagya Perera
Had a fun time at Seattle aquarium
Katie Worsham
A wonderful aquarium. Did not feel like covid restrictions made you miss too much that it wasn't worth it. Would definitely go again if we visit there with other friends or family. Plenty for kids and adults to look at and enjoy.
Alexander Sokol
Amazing aquarium right on the harbor. Surrounded by great entertainment for the whole family . And if you're lucky you might see a killer whale!
Michael Tang
Fairly sized exhibits. Good for kids.
Pamela Velez
Had fun looking at all the fishes and marine animals. Too bad we went there at night so we couldn't see all the seals; we saw two of them though. All in all, my family and I had fun and iI bet it's better in the day!
Trevor Price
It was great the kids had fun great exhibit and had a alot of fun even though it was winter time and cold out we really enjoyed ourselves!
Kate
*delayed post, please check to see if the aquarium is open before you head there.
The entire family, three generations, spent the afternoon at the Seattle Aquarium and there was always something new to look at. A tide pool touch tank, the hall of fish, an octopus introduction, seahorses, an outdoor bird sanctuary, otters and sea lions, a wave demonstration tank and interactive divers in more than one area (including an underwater dome).
It seemed a bit spendy at around $30 per ticket, but I’ll have to admit that the price was worth the memories.
sarah Schmitt
I loved seeing all the fish and the otters. They were super cute. It was pretty busy when we went but otherwise a very fun experience.
Charise Shigeta
Lots of great exhibits!
Captain Vanz
This awesome place is for all ages. Ocean creatures shapes, sizes, colors and sounds are adventure package this place has to offer. It's worth every dime spent. Kids love their day stay of fun and observe marine creatures. The uniquely arranged aquarium and color effects brings the magical water like you are under sea water. We definitely experience the underwater adventure without going under! They also have food court which offer variety of sumptuous meals. Highly recommend this place. If you are lucky you will see a scuba diver and a performer wearing mermaid costume dancing inside the big aquarium.
Myles Brothers
Came her and enjoyed this place. The staff here is very informal and helpful. The only reason I’m giving 4⭐️is because the cafe had closed early unexpectedly🤷🏾♂️We still had fun! …
Holly Rule
Nice little aquarium. We ran here last minute to get out of the rain. Kids loved it! There's plenty to see without being overwhelming.
Alfredo Rosado
It was such an amazing experience, first time here and i love it. Has some spectacular views and i will defiantly recommended.
A A
We loved this aquarium. It's always fun to see animals up close. It was clean and had floor markers to help people stay 6ft apart.
Pakapark Bhumiwat
It is a good place to go with kids or family. The place is pretty big and really worth it. The price is not very high if you pay with the city pass.
Ethan Gordon
Great exhibits even with the added COVID restrictions (no feedings, 1-way only). We could even stop and snack at the (closed) outdoor cafe.
My only complaint is that some of the tanks (especially towards the beginning) lacked fish labels, so we weren't 100% sure what we were looking at/for.
Ralph Palmer
Excellent aquarium. I like that it's focused almost entirely on the Pacific Northwest. There are also some nice interactive exhibits with helpful assistants - like docents.
Zaayer Nasib
Highly recommended especially with kids! All sorts of marine life such as fish, plants, seals, otters housed here. I really appreciated the wide open spaces provided to all of the animals here, all of which seemed happy and content thankfully :)
The caretakers and staff all seemed to be genuinely care about all the animals.
Renee Corbett
We went through the aquarium in about 1.5 hours while reading every sign and looking at every aquarium display. It was smaller than I expected. I don’t recommend going after the sunset (which was around 4:30 PM in November) because all of the outdoor displays are too dark and you don’t see any of the mammals or birds.
YY Zhang
Cute aquarium, kids friendly, diverse sea creatures but a bit small. Perfect place to bring kids here over and over again.
Krissy H
This place was cool! Our group saw a lot of fish, otters, anemones, and birds! It's probably cooler with children but it was still a lot of fun for all of us adults.
Brad
BUSY. This place was all kinds of busy today. The coolest part was to know that the water is filtered through the ocean. It had a decent variety of fish, nothing special. Staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. I really enjoyed it and so did my son.
Alejandra Villegas
Kind of small and good if you have some extra time. In general it’s ok.
Lily Mann
I think everyone should go here at least once!!! Just the live tanks alone are a phenomenal experience. There is so much to see - fun interactive staff to talk to - and other variety of things to do. It also has a cafe upstairs when you first walk in if you need to vibe or wait for your group.
Kenny
Very cool aquarium not too big a pretty nice diversity of fish and different animals.
micah sanders
I found the overall environment to be relaxing and fun. A great place to take the family or just sit and enjoy the fish.
The aquarium isn’t too big and makes it easy to move from exhibit to exhibit. On top of that I found the staff to be supper helpful and friendly.
Overall, a must see
Deangela Khan
Great place to go! Tide pools and a dome aquarium so much to see and do. Kids lived it and we adults did as well. Great stop and would recommend if you have the time.
Russell Nagle
Always a great time. You can see it all in about 2 hours. The Seattle aquarium let's you get really close to the otters which is my favorite part. Lots of good food and drink options in the area for lunch after.
Sherrie Tennessee
Great experience for kids and adults.
Haneul Kang
Small aquarium packed with fun. Wish they had more fresh water fish like cichlid
Isabelle Johnson
Absolutely gorgeous specimans, and the guides were incredibly knowledgeable and intellegent! Especially at the tide pool and large native species tank
Douglas Nelson
Was a great little side trip. I enjoyed the beautiful corral collection and the underwater dome.
Deanna Marinello
It was very cool and my nephew loved it. It wasn’t very big, and I’m not so sure I’d go back because it’s pretty expensive. The fish dome was cool and the seals were feeding when we went. It’s a good spot to bring people from out of town.
Sarah Owens
This was one of my favorite attractions. I could have spent the entire day at the Aquarium! Definitely worth checking out! Fun for all ages.
Jimmy Son
Compared to other aquariums I've been to (Monterey, Baltimore) this one is lackluster. But, if you need an activity for the kids, you could do worse. Highlights are the touch pools, octopus and seals. Oh, and the otters (sea otters and river otters) are very charming.
Maggie Liu
This is my second time to go. Good place to visit in Seattle. Friendly staff, cute sea animals and clean environment. Feel the ticket is a little expensive because the size of the exhibits is a kind of small.
Jordan Lee
Not gonna be that guy to not give an aquarium less than 5 stars. Bit small for the price so get the Seattle citypass to bundle and save some money.
I'd go again just to see that big puffer dude chilling in the tank. Seals were cool.
Chris O'F
Get aquarium for the size, lots of hands on areas for kids and guests to interact with sea life. Closes early so be sure to get there during day light.
Jazzy Hunter
This was a very nice experience with the family. We learned a lot. The staff was so nice and answered any questionswe had. At the Aquarium they offer pictures that are available on the same day.
Jupiter Floros
Presentation was great, content needs updating. I was expecting to see more big fish tbh. The first tank is incredible as it has a fairly big (!) glass wall but the fish in it are not impressive.
Juleen Keller
The Seattle Aquarium has a lot of fun/educational programs for youth, and adults. My grandchildren love the touch pools, mammals, and their star, the octopus.
Alain Ortiz
Fun and engaging. It was great getting to interact with their aquatic life and learn about them.
Gregory Schmidt
Nice small aquarium on the left coast. Neat hands on experiences also...
Mel Fellrath
Got in with my CityPass. Not the biggest aquarium ever, but the seals alone seal the deal. Adorable! Touch tanks were fun with informative staff nearby
Kyle
Loved this aquarium! One of the best ones I've ever been too. The animals were active and happy, also got some food from the food court which wasn't bad either.
Casey Baldwin
We loved the aquarium, the kids had us go back after lunch and finished out the day there.

It's a pretty small Aquarium. But still entertaining. It took us two hours to look at it all. If you get the city pass(which I recommend that you do) you get to see the Aquarium. So it's a good deal and makes worth going to see it. They do have a lot off reef fish and corals. Some that I myself haven't seen was pretty cool. I gave this Aquarium a 4 just because I have been to many others and just though this place was very limited. But still pretty interesting to see.

It's a small but very nice aquarium. There's some amazing native fish tanks that you can just sit and enjoy. Their octopus Mochi is super cool! He's very active at odd hours, so there's a good chance you can catch him wriggling around his tank.
Oliver Day
This place is nice but small, you could possibly spend about an hour or so here and is pricy. Super fun to play and touch with the sea creatures.
Awnye Foster
I loved the interactive aspect. We were able to pet the starfish, anemones, and sea cucumbers. I wish there were sharks or small whales, but the exhibits they do have are nice.

The aquarium though smaller than what I'm use to made up for it in the hands on experience, it was extremely professional and all the employees very knowledgeable about any questions I had. Will definitely go again.
Kevin Coughlin
Park across the street. Easy to get to on weekday mornings. Lots of well kept exhibits that the kids love. Also touch tanks. My son loved it!
Da Tan
Giving it 4 stars because I really enjoyed the aquarium but it’s smaller than i expected. Good thing we had the citypass! Price is a bit expensive given the size
Natalie Jorgensen
All of the animals here are amazing ! I had never been to an aquarium before and i will for sure be going again. They all looked healthy and happy. It was so cool the way that they had them displayed in their own ways. The facility was very clean and friendly
James Winterswolf
Think of this as a very educational sanctuary, not a big see it all aquarium. This aquarium doesn't have it all and they know that, this aims to be a good example of what animals you'd find in the Seattle region, not everything found swimming in water over the globe. The staff is kind and ready to teach and it's an enjoyable experience, just doesn't compare to many of the larger aquarium's on the west coast in terms of creature variety. I'd say it's great fun for anyone under 14 and a reasonably interesting time for anyone over 14.
Sunny
You can touch animals here! (The water is very cold so be a little careful not stay in the water for too long)
The staff working here are amazing.
I saw a whale in pictures outside but there is no whale 🤣
Crewsont
A great facility with a lot of sea life and displays for the entire family to enjoy. Lots of great areas for pictures and a lot of knowledgeable volunteers around to eagerly help you. I will definitely be returning
Chandra Mohan
Great aquarium. Looks small but lots of things to check out. Spent 3 hours and felt an hour or two more would have been good.
Jamie Waller
I personally did not really enjoy the Aquarium, but it could also be that it is targeted towards a younger audience. It was good that it was included in the city pass and for a family it could be a nice thing to include on a walk along the pier.
Ruben Garcia
Great aquarium, a great place to bring the family the ocean life here is awesome..
Maxwell Atwood
This is a fun destination for all ages with frequent live demonstrations and informative lectures. However compared to other aquariums the selection of fish and wildlife is quite small for the price paid. I was expecting a bit more for something so close to the waterfront and a place so dedicated to marine life. However it was still well worth the visit and I enjoyed my time here. The underground water viewing was great and the otters are some of the last entertaining I’ve encountered. Definitely worth a stop while in Seattle. Also close to many waterfront restaurants before or after your visit.
Jay HoL
Very small aquarium. Not sure it was worth the $30+ for an adult. We spent about 90 minutes here and we really stretched it. Very clean and nice. The otters were cute. Very informative.
Madan Ankapura
Easy access to public transit
Can easily spend couple hours with kids
Relatively small
Timothy Morgan
A good aquarium, it is pretty standard and nothing too special. Great way to kill an hour if the sun gets a bit too hot in the afternoon and was fun to be able to stick your hand in the water. Other than that I can't say there is much more to it than that. Wouldn't plan to go, but was nice decision once I went.
Bhargav Jhaveri
I was curious to know about how they operate this and the staff explained things really well. The most amazing thing which I found is they use sea water only with some basic filters used. This way they create a close to marine environment for the sea animals. Great job team.
Kate S
I spent two hours here watching the fish and cute otters. Well worth a visit. Best to get here at 9:30 am.
Devon Jordan
This is a great little aquarium! We had a few hours to kill before we left on our cruise and tho seas the perfect way to kill the time. Great variety of exhibits and a great representation of the Puget Sound!
Emily Umphreys
The aquarium is a great stop when visiting Seattle. Or if you live here! There's several really cool exhibits, natural water filtration, and a kid friendly area to touch different ocean plants in huge water tanks. I recommend the City Pass so you can get the most bang for your buck. Free parking in the Pike Place Market Garage if you get a voucher from the aquarium.
Matthew Booher
So many varieties of marine life! Interactive displays, touching pools, and educational exhibits Galore.
We brought our four-year-old granddaughter through thoroughly enjoyed all day in heaven. Especially fascinating for her for the jellyfish and they're awesome display!
Nice variety of land exhibits as well, showing the Persian sound and ecosystem.
With all the construction on the street in front, parking is a big issue.
josh kim
Surprised how big it is. Lots of things to see. Sea otters, jelly fish.... So many sea creatures. Buy a city pass. Much easier to get though things. Location is pier 59. Park near the parking structures or street for cheaper parking.
Isa Layton
Really nice aquarium, it's bigger than I thought it would be. Lot to see! Sea otters were my favorite! So adorable! Although it's kind of sad to see some of the animals displayed in such small spaces.
Mitch McCurry
I really love a good aquarium. This one has an area to touch starfish. It also has an octopus and otters (my favorite). It is a lot smaller than others that I have been to such as the Georgia Aquarium but still worth going to
Susan Postle
Was about $80 for 2 of us to visit. It's clean and well managed but nothing exciting to see. The exhibits are mostly aquariums with boring fish. I did like the otter exhibit. They were adorable and active so you could watch them. It took about 40 minutes to see everything and thats I'd you take your time. It's a nice location right at the waterfront but the value just wasn't there.
Paul Thomas
This place is great. A must see, features so much on local water wild life.
Alex DeLeon
I feel like I give this place a go every few years, hoping every time that it'll have improved since my last visit. As yet, I haven't left impressed. I think the truth is it's just an okay aquarium in a city where it feels like we should have a stellar one.
The staff is superb - they're informative, and great with the kids coming through. But the facilities are small, outdated, and the layout is constrained by the lack of space this aquarium is provided because of it's tight footprint. You will blow through the entire place in about an hour, and for the price it just feels like a letdown.
This is a GREAT stop for kids under the age of 10 who want to spend time in a hands-on exhibit with sea anemones and starfish, but for anyone else you're honestly better off saving your money.
Alexey Gavrilov
Fun time seeing all these fish! You can even touch some. Very enjoyable. There are so many fun things at this aquarium.
Yasmeen O
Such a beautiful experience. Definitely remember it being much bigger as a kid lol. It could take you an hour or two to walk through but we took our time. I loved touching the star fish and watching the sea otters eat their meal. We also got the sweet photo at the end. The top floor has a sweet v lil bar as well/finger food that was decent for a quick snack. Would come again (:
Krista C
The aquarium was busy, but plenty to see. The tide pools were fun as we got to lightly touch some sea creatures. The salmon room was awesome to walk in and the seal lions and seals were the highlight.
Justin Sharick
I was surprised at how much they fit into what seemed like a cramped wharf. This aquarium has tons of cool exhibits to check out and was worth the price of admission.
Kishore Kumar V
Very unique sea creatures
Steve Mitchell
Appears small on the outside actually has quite a lot to do, great for kids and for a great day in Seattle
Kent Santin
Cool aquarium with some interactive features but overall quite small in relation to other aquariums around the country.
Adversperate
Nice aquarium had a great time there the prices be killing me $34 general admission other than that I thought they’d have giant sea tanks I didn’t explore around enough I missed some spots but I will come back for more loved it
Angel Espinoza
Kind of small but the have a good amount of sea animals!!! Birds and otters included!!! The workers were educated when talking about the animals!!! I would definitely recommend to go!
Shaun K
Fun place to take the family. Loved seeing all the local wildlife. Wish there was more sharks or bigger exhibits but it was still fun and cool to see.

I purchased the City Pass Seattle and took advantage I enjoyed my time with friend I meet at space needle it was the perfect evening I loved touching the live fish and the very best part was my little friend in the water we went over to the Ferris wheel afterwards
Nicole Draws
This is such a fun place to go. The animals seem like they're taken very well care of and it's very educational. This was my second time going and it was still a great experience. The people who work there are also friendly and knowledgeable. This is definitely my favorite aquarium out of the few I've been to.
Jessica Maughan
Great little aquarium! Reasonably priced for Seattle. Annual memberships and programs are available to low income families and foster children.
Carolyn Trexler
We love the diversity of animals and the touch tanks! The staff and volunteers are nice and informative, too!
Ashley M.
Wonderful! So up close and personal and the staff was very attentive to the fish. We saw one that looked like he was struggling to swim and we got a staff member who got a manager who took care of it right away. Beautiful set up and it felt like we spent an entire day there! It was part of our City Pass and I am so glad we did it!
Sherrel Caprio
The way the water is pumped in from the ocean is the neatest! Amazingly helpful and knowledgeable staff. Great about covid guidelines. Gentlemen at front desk was SUPERB!
Jayesh Shah
Good place to spend some time with family watching fishes. It is a small aquarium but you could spend hours if you are interested in reading and watching fishes.
Aleah
Great place to go with friends, family, or even on your own. So many awesome exhibits and programs, and you can really tell they care about marine life.
Britney Carter
Smaller than I thought itd be but i know they're building a new addition. They have touch pools where you ca touch cool sea creatures like starfish and sea cucumbers. They have mammal areas where you can see otter and seal feedings. These were super informative. They also have a section showcasing their coral reef "farm" where they are growing coral! Very cool place.
Shweta Karki
First of all, if you’re new to the City, I’d suggest you to get the “City Pass” and you’ll get to visit 5 places including Seattle Aquarium.
Second, Loved the Aquarium.
N C.
This aquarium was small compared to the others that I’ve been to. It would only be worth it if you had the CityPass, because I would not pay for this. There weren’t a ton of sea life at this aquarium. It’s a tourist attraction, so expect there to be loads of people there. The children there seemed to have really enjoyed it.
Gina G
Went this week with a reserved time slot. Easy to reserve by mobile, a little harder to scan (couldn’t get it to work and no one was there to scan it in). I enjoyed the exhibits and the sea otters are always my favorite. However, it’s a very small aquarium and overpriced by at least 50% on the ticket. It probably took me less than an hour to see everything.
Chris Moore
Such a neat aquarium experience. Coming from the SF area, we were not expecting anything we hadn't seen, but the exhibits were beautiful and unique. Great for kids, very interactive!
Morgan Lindsay Hannigan
Cool little aquarium, but the octopus looked like it doesn't wanna be there
Roy
We had a great time. Fun for all ages.
Lt. Gen. Logan
Not that great for being this close to the ocean. I was hoping for bigger and better ocean life for the price too. $30 for residents.
Christina
This place was a blast! My two boys loved all the hands on exhibits, touch tanks, squid dissections and super cute seal and otters swimming around.
Chet Ragsdale
Average as aquariums go. Wonky layout, lot of coral and sea grasses etc; a couple of Seals and otters partially visible. Many fish. A lot of salmon, a few birds....Many, many families and kids.
Scott F
Always a fun stop when in Seattle, but it’s not massive in size. Went on a Monday and it was packed! The salmon exhibits are always my favorite and I hope one of these times to finally see fish in the ocean exposed ladder.
Ews
A cool aquarium.. I got to go because I purchase a Seattle pass.. something cool to do in your off time.. nothing special here but it’s always fun to gaze at fish sometimes
Marshall Gill
I took my two girls here and the only negative thing I can say is it's a bit pricey!! We always enjoy our visit and love all there is to see! Very educational and first time we ate at the cafeteria and I was very pleasantly surprised in how good everything was.
Simon Furber
Smaller than I thought but great place. Friend staff amazing creatures. You'll love the Sea Otters.
