Reviews of Arizona Falls
Came here on a Sunday just to look around. The place was pretty much empty with just a few people jogging by on the adjacent path. There's no ticket required to just go in and see the water falls, there's a couple little paths and you can get right up close and touch the water; though it's not recommended since it's untreated. Still a good looking place and worth the stop if you're in the area. Won't spend a lot of time here but it's a nice place.
Very cool little place to visit and spend an hour or two either by yourself or friends and family. It's cool from the moving water around you and plenty of birds to look at. Seem to be cliff swallow, they even have a bunch of little nests under the bridge. I spend about 2 hours here taking pictures and enjoying my company. Also lots of people running and biking the canal. The water was pretty brown and muddy from the recent rain we've been having. It would be perfect to bring a drink and hang out or walk around.
This is a beautiful area. I love these falls. Very relaxing to watch. Sit and unwind. Fun to go behind and watch the sun glistening in the falling water. I like how you can view them from various levels. Worth a stop when in the area.
Great location to listen to the cascading water and let your thoughts drift. Also, very educational about the design and usage of the "falls". Free admission with a nearby park and can take a stroll along the canal.
Had a great sunrise photo shoot here. I have never been though I have looked it up once or twice. Really nice little spot to catch you breath from a run or a good walk along the canal.
This place is very outdated and needs repairs. It's pretty cool though. We went in winter so there was no water falling down. The Greenway along the canal is a great place for locals to go riding on a bike!
I have been trying to go here for years! Finally made it. I took these pictures really fast to give me an idea of some photoshoots I want to do once it's just a teeny bit cooler.
Pictures don't do this place justice.
This is a man made fall over a canal seems. There are 3 forks of the falls. You can spend time near canal but not much around fall. You will like it if you love water but Water is not clear.
Not a place to specifically travel for this but if you are nearby I will say keep 1st option as Tempe Beach Park and 2nd as this fall 😬
A fun, scenic, and historical spot. Would recommend going and reading the informational signs. There are fish and birds you can see too!
Okay OKAY, WHO PUT 3 MINI MINI WATERFALLS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CITY? If that was you, I thank you sir or madam for doing God's work. We stopped by this hidden gem looking to explore more of Arizona and was quite jealous that we don't have something like this in Southern California. When you first get to the location, you don't see anything but a metal clad building next to a park. As you walk up the ramps and then back down, you walk into something that is truly mesmerizing to see and experience. To me it's a flowing work of art, to those in Arizona, this is the greatest gift around... Especially in the summer time. The photos don't do this location justice, but definitely something you should experience.
Great little park. We had a great time art, water trails and more. The history is well written and it produces electricity. Nice place to hear the water.
Very clean trails that you can walk, bike, etc on. Mainly dirt so plan accordingly.
Ample trash bins, seating, parking, etc.
There were 4 porta-potties when I went
Very cool Water reclamation site in the middle of town. Very educational & a very calming, serene visiting experience. Highly recommend
Really nice place to come and visit. Calming to sit by the waterfall. It would be nice it people were respectful and did not graffiti the area. Hopefully, it will be cleaned up.
Not much to do but a free activity. More like a small dam than a falls but interesting! Enjoyable morning!
Cycled through Old Town Scottsdale to the Falls as my turn around point. The last mile or so in hard packed gravel to the Falls.
This is actually a drop in the AZ Canal that was built as a hrdro generating station that's still in operation. In addition to the cooling spray from the Falls I enjoyed on my late APR ride there are outdoor exhibits on the Salt River project.
It does seems that a number of people lunch here. Odd since there are no picnic or washing facilities here. The trash cans were all full of pizza boxes and the like. More 'pack it in, pack it out' by visitors would make the place more enjoyable. The nearby GR Herberger park would be a better choice for a lunch spot after visiting the Falls.
A 32 mile ride this day.
At first I thought there was really a falls in Arizona, but then when I got there. Boom!
It's just like a fountain. Hehe
The only special thing about it is the that there are explanations about hydro energy being produced by the waters in arizona posted in the area.
It smells a little bit fishy here.
It's a great spot for pictures. Took visitor after dark and got some great shots. I'm not sure what it's like during the day but think it might be disappointing.
Awesome place to visit with the Tranquility sound of running water, as well as being a landmark to Arizona’s history of the canals. This Hydro plant is one of many owned by SRP. Interesting fact stones that are placed here are original stones from the original Roosevelt dam .
It was definitely an experience! The kids had a great time! It was not hard to find and a must to do if you have the time 🤗🙂
A hidden gem on Indian School road and 56th Street. Three main falls. It's a really fun time especially at sunset.
Great place to take the kids for some education on hydroelectric plants, history and a bit of fun! It can be slippery in certain spots but the main floor seems to have good rock grip to it. I question the large gaps in some of the fencing so keep your kiddos close and supervise.

November 2022
Arizona Falls is a natural, 20-foot drop on the Arizona Canal between 56th and 58 streets. In the late 1800s it was a popular place for for people to meet. They held picnics and dances and took advantage of the cooling effects of the water.
Easy to park.
Free
Very Gorgeous, totally recommend it; it smells a bit like fish just wanted you to know before you go.
Parking is tough, get there early and be ready to wait. There are pickle ball courts and a sand volleyball court. There is a long canal path to jog, a pretty environment with gravel to start then pavement.
Nice place to check out. I liked reading about the history of this location. It was a nice walk and something to do.
the two pictures i have are what it looks like but once you go down the stairs then you’ll see a “waterfall” that i forgot to take a picture of because i thought it was just nothing but terrible scenery but it’s not that bad. the waterfall is actually nice, my uber driver said we’ll only be there for like five minutes and the funny part was that everyone who came down the stairs literally did stay for about five minutes but it’s worth than the five minutes if you’re looking for that peaceful water fall sound.
I was fortunate to have visited in the absence of these Instagrammers and TikTokers on a Saturday afternoon, so that's always the best isn't it? They were probably annoying the population at the botanical garden. Thank GOD is all I'm saying.
This is a quick, little area to enjoy for a bit—especially with kids to jump around the platforms throughout. This appears to be a decent and small, but interesting city project l neighboring the canal and GR Herberger Park. It's free to visit—as in actually free—to come here to chill or lounge if that's your preference. I saw some pro-am photographers and senior citizens walk-jogging confidently, so it's probably safe enough considering it borders Scottsdale. Who knows, really? I mean, I saw a single mallard napping, but it didn't look aggressive. You never know nowadays. I've seen the YouTube videos of birds losing their minds and pecking out people's eyeballs in possible revenge recently. No danger here at all.
It's a decent project. I would not lie to you. I would recommend a visit with a mandatory Thai tea if I were asked for my two cents.
They turned something that would be just a normal water treatment facility into a nice little waterfall spot. Of course a natural waterfall is always better, but it's right here in the center of the city. You get a fantastic view of the Camelback mountain.
This is such a cool place to go, and such a great place to take someone who has never been! And, it's FREE! It's such an interesting place. Everyone that I have brought here thinks it is awesome! And, when you go there when they have opened up the canal gates, it is beyond amazing! The water is gushing forth at such an incredible rate! It is truly something extraordinary to witness!
Nice park to get your steps in without having to leave town. It's busy on the weekends but almost empty at most times during the week. I've never had a problem finding parking and there's a ton of grass to hang out on or let the dogs sniff.
Very nice place to walk, read, sit, meditate, pray, relax, jog, listen to water, talk, think, or just feel some peace It's in the city but feels like a getaway to the mountains. It's good if you just need to be alone and think. Good spot for calming down
A bit of a funky smell but nice walk and something out of the ordinary
I live so close to this place and didn’t even know it was there until I saw it on TikTok! Awesome little gem tho, definitely a place to see!
Interesting little place to visit. Reading about it before we went. I thought it was going to be a bigger areas than it was. Through my research it said many years ago that the community would gather here to stay cool. The waterfalls are set up aesthetically. But parts of the area are dried out and have garbage in them.
Pretty cool when the water feature is running. It's periodically turned off for maintenance. If you're making a long trip, you may want to call ahead to make sure it's actually running.
We enjoyed the Falls! Beautiful! Nice and cool at night, just a short walk. Free to the public.
Hidden gem. Who knew there was a waterfall in the middle of Scottsdale. Interesting piece of history, nice piece of art, and relaxing sounds of water. Nice stop to destress on a hot day.
Super cool place to see. If the gate is open you can go downstairs to sit, lots of benches. Nice place to unwind. There is also a biking/walking path right near it.
Beautiful location. You can walk ride your bike on the trail.
The falls are peaceful, & tranquil. It's a short walk to the falls.
Couldn't sleep so went by for a walk. It is extremely well lit. In the wee hours the waterfalls weren't running but still could hear and see water running. Very serene and peaceful.
Couldn't find anywhere that stated what time the waterfalls run or how long. Overall reminds me of a scenic view spot you would stop off on the freeway. 5 minute walk through, snap a few photos or stay longer to relax.
Underwhelming.
It's all covered in green moss takes away from the experience would be better if they cleaned it
What a wonderful thing to find today! Highly recommend you stop in and see this very cool Hydro Waterfall!
Original Lil waterfall gathering place in 1800. Built a small plant ( hydro ) on top to support electricity to that area. Nice Lil waterfall you can walk around n there's a walking/ biking path that goes by. Close to main shopping area in Scottsdale.
This place is both a tourist attraction and a place where you can take a long walk. The area around looks safe and the place itself is clean. And it is free.
This is a nice place to relax and take in the views. Came here in the day time and at night and night was more appealing. But wish the had colored lights or color changing lights.
Fun unique place to check out. If you’re a local it’s worth checking out at least once if you’re staying here for a lifetime.
A nice place to just get away from people. Very little people were there when i went. Its really nice and if you like fishing you can do that here as well
This was a great place for a morning hike. It's on the trail of the Arizona Grand Canal. It has 3 separate viewing areas and lots of educational information about the facility. You can rent a green and yellow bike and go biking down the trail on the canal. We walked across the street to the Arcadia Park with our dogs and enjoyed the neighborhood.
Simple stop to enjoy the canals that keep AZ in water, and this artistic partnership is a fabulous spot to enjoy a selfish with some great backdrops.
This is a historic old hydro plant from back in the day, and we'll worth visiting, esp. In nice weather. The are informational plaques and a real sweet small park with good shady spots. Great people watching as it's right on the canal paths. And yes, there is a waterfall! It's a little gem in Arcadia, stop and check it out, I think kids would love it too. Park has restrooms, it's all disability accessible and plenty of parking.
It’s cool I guess? Some tiny man-made waterfalls with enough hydroelectric production to power ~150 homes.
Seems more like a tribute to SRP than an interesting and educational place to visit, but hey, if that’s you’re thing then you’ll love this place.
The history of the site is neat, and they added some cool touches like boulders from each dam that feeds the river.
Things are starting to erode, rust, and crumble, so it could use some touch ups at this point.
A fascinating rendezvous of Architecture and Nature. Nice relaxing hang out spot - a great place to cool off from the PHX heat as well! Parking for Arizona Falls is nearby at Herberger Park (keep a sharp eye on the entrance, it comes up quick).
What an unexpected beautiful relaxing place. Ran the Night Mare 5k supporting the Salt River Wild Horse Management Group. What a wonderful spot to start finish the race.
Took visiting family to see our towns little hydro generator water feature. They were suitably impressed. Many photos were taken.
Arizona falls is a masterpiece! It is a restored hydroelectric plant. A great place to bring the kids. It is fun and educational. There is a park and playground located next to the plant as well.
So cool "water falls" in the middle of the city. You gotta check it out if you're in the area. Good place to walk around with a date or little kids when it's cool. Best of all, it's free!
Cute man made location with some falls.
Arizona falls is a historical attraction, and yet a modern hydrodynamic marvel at the same time. Children can learn the basics of hydroelectrics while experiencing the sights that the falls have to offer. Great for a short visit with kids, or after dark, a secluded spot for a fun, romantic getaway, if even for an hour. A word of advice, though... If you plan on taking pictures, be aware that there WILL be water on 3 sides of you at some point if you head below the falls. Be mindful of any equipment you don't want to get wet. Be sure to read up on the history while you're there, and you'll see that Arizona Falls has been visited for over a century by locals and visitors just like yourself.
It's cool to visit at least once if you like being splashed by reclaimed untreated canal water 😂
I was impressed by the design of the a water fall and how it produces power. It is an engineering marvel, we need more clean energy for sure.
If you are near that area then go for a walk
It seemed to me that the facilities were originally designed beautifully, but have not really been maintained. The information was very interesting.
It's a hydro power station made into a little man made falls. But you may smell a bit of the stench from the water on a hot day.
We enjoyed walking around the falls. It’s peaceful. There’s a walking trail and some pretty trees. Other than that, there isn’t much to look at so kids might be bored. Great place to talk a walk though!
Nice little park to visit.
If I lived here it'd be a great place to go walking or just to relax.
Pretty nice during this 60° weather. love the water but it’s untreated canal water. somewhat of a trail.
Very interesting, I loved the plaques describing the history of the area and canal
Absolutely love this place! Love the waterfalls! So peaceful! Beautiful! The sound of running water from a waterfall can really put you in a tranquil peace! Everyone should go there!
Reggie the Registered Donor for Donate Life AZ.
Great place to go walking. Loved looking at the work they are doing. Sad the water wasn't running.
Excellent place to check out!
Pretty interesting place in the middle of a city. Decided to check it out just because and it was definitely worth it.
Relaxing summer nights...
Nothing crazy but worth a quick stop to experience the man made falls and the history of how they came about to be.
A lot of people biking and jogging the trail leading away from this fall
Kind of a neat place, it highlights the hydroelectric capabilities in the valley, some cool architecture and a nice place for a walk as well as take pictures.
Not a bad place for being in the middle of the city, I bet it's cool there in the hot summer days
An interesting stop. A quiet walk and waterfalls made by man to help man. Nice stop. Doesn't take long to see but can stay as long as you like.
It was so nice here. My family and I enjoyed ourselves here.
Nice place to stop and cool off by the waterfalls when riding bikes or walking on canal
Quick stop to learn about a restored hydroelectric plant. In the 1800's it was a local gathering spot to socialize by the falls. Then in 1902 the built a plant to generate electricity. It was rebuilt in 1911. There is art work, history and info about the technology behind the power plant.
By the time we were out in the 109 degree weather, we were ready for some water! This is a neat little place to cool off and take some fun pics!
Lived here for 2 years and never knew about this place. Nice stop next to a park.
Beautiful man made falls - worth a visit if you are in the area
24 hour location so you can pop over here and see the sights whenever. Was very chill.
It's a great place to take a break. Cool history of the falls. Walking/biking trails near by.
It is a great joy of mine to learn about local history. Who knew a desert could have a waterfall in the city? A secret hidden in plain sight. Plenty of parking.
Well designed attraction that is easily accessible for everyone. We are looking forward to riding our bikes to here when the temp drops!
Okay, so it’s not Niagara Falls, but this it is the most water I’ve seen flowing in the desert. However, it’s not the attraction that’s makes this scene work. It’s having a family friend named Hazel. She extracts joy from the mundane and recycles it back to the people she is with. Yep, she is some kind of friend to discover new things in Arizona.
I will post pictures when the falls are turned I give it 5stars for being there . Couple different ball fields softball . Came for the walkway but I couldn’t get in from the parking lot , cute little area we will be back
Neat place to take a walk, explore, and take pictures. Not crowded.
Beautiful and serene. The water smells a bit but well worth it
Nice little spot to relax and watch the water falls.
Quick stop worth checking out. Very nice art installation mixed with some civil engineering.
Was sorta stinky..but liked the waterfalls..took a few pics..
It's a hydroelectric dam. I thought it was legit waterfalls that had man made features which I guess is correct but honestly a let down if you're expecting plain waterfalls.
I just saw it and quickly selected to go there to waste an hour before going to the airport. At least it is free!
We stopped here after visiting Hole in the Rock. It was very pretty and interesting to read about! Would recommend if you are in the area.
It was a nice place to have a picnic in the middle of the Arizona Desert!! The sounds of the falls are awesome!
Really nice piece of engineering blended into nature & the sparrow nesting is a nice touch!
Relaxing little area to hang out! Very refreshing.
Decent little place for geocaching. Not much else and smells funny due to the algae.
Shot some pictures to share , awesome view of the mountains. Close to dining and nice walk around the canal.
I can't belive I waited this long to go check it out. I definitely recommend biking to it if you can. If not their is a parking lot on the north side of Indian School rd which has a short path that leada ya straight to it.
Amazing place for just relaxing and listening to the waterfalls. I was very impressed.
City did good job here. They could have just done the bare minimum here and addressed the needs of the water needs to fine. What has been created is a nice park, a fun place to visit and a place to see unique water falls and features. Walkways, over looks, bridges all for people to enjoy and relax. We need more features like this one. Who would have imaged a water fall in the middle of the desert
Great road side attraction, easy parking, super quick walk from parking lot to the falls
Very nice structures. With safe walkways for different views. Was well signed, explanations clear. Very interesting, seating areas in great places. To enjoy the sounds and sights of falling water safely.
Kids should love this place as well.
Amazing place relaxing and if you are lucky you might see fish like i did
Nice walk. Gorgeous place with neat architecture.
Waterfalls in the middle of the city: check
Good place for walking in the evenings: check
Cycling: check.
Overall a pretty nice place. Since the water is reclaimed, there is a slight smell in the air, but i personally didn't find it a bother.
It wouldn't be a totally impractical idea to have people new to the valley to get a mailer.
After decades and having driven by many hundreds of times I visited the adjacent park and the falls. My first impression was being confronted with the power and volume of the water flow. It hit home unlike seeing the many canals and their beauty. I thought, thank you SRP. Seconds later it occured that I should decrease personal water consumption. The parking is adequate. Sidewalks are wheel chair accessable. Consider visiting and sharing your impressions.
Really cool place, open 24hrs.
Pulled up at 1am
Cool hidden little gem in the heart of the Arcadia area of Phoenix
While its small, its pretty cool to go to on a vacation in this area.
Nice little scenic stop with historical tidbits peppered around the site. Also leads to a nice trail that goes along the canal.
It was nice to see the different waterfalls a good place if your looking for a short walk and also it's rite on the canal which was nice to walk.
It's a cute little site to see in Arizona. It was a bit of a let down to see graffiti written on the walls of the area.
Beautiful place in the heart if the city. Almost like a special get away from hustle and bustle. Wonderfully designed and engineered. Water falling cools the evening are and seems quiet and secluded.Nice for a easy get away for peace and quiet.
Stopped here randomly while driving home the other day. Not too much to see, but with a 2 year-old that loves water, it was definitely worth the stop.
Beautiful place . So relaxing. Good place to metatate and feel peace.
We took a nighttime tour of Phoenix and showed each other the nice views that we each knew. This was one of them and is a very cool spot to visit. Free, neat waterfalls, and unique photo opportunities.
If you are expecting a natural waterfall with a pleasant hike or walk…this is not!! It was a water treatment place so that was a fun surprise lol. Nice tennis/Pickleball courts nearby though
It's a very relaxing place to walk around
Its an amazing display of art. Its prominent history and educational awareness makes the visit spectacular. Its a small area that allows you entrance to paths along side the aqueducts. Id definitely want to relive this experiance with friends and family.
This is a nice spot to stop if you are walking nearby. It is a man-made waterfall on an untreated water canal, with the accompanying fragrance. Cool architecture and snippet of AZ history.
It was an interesting place to visit. There isn't a whole heck of a lot there, but it's interesting to see and understand how the history of water had played such a pivotal roller on shaping this area.
Besides the smell it's a nice place to visit
Beautiful. And scary. Apparently the scooters go here to die.
Cute little stop with the kids. Nice sitting area
This is a great course for racing 5Ks: flat and fast.
Beautiful man made waterfall with a few seats to sit and enjoy.
Great place to reminisce and take a walk with a significant other or on your own.
Might look sketchy at night but give it a chance it gets better past the parking lot 😄 …
Enjoyed it, but there wasn't a whole lot to see.
Nothing too exciting but is interesting and a nice place to take a break.
Pretty cool spot with a little information about our water system
A nice get away to collect your thoughts while looking at moving water.
P.S.A: PLEASE PICK UP YOUR GARBAGE WHEN DONE VISITING. ITS A GOOD LITTLE GET AWAY SO PLEASE DONT LITTER.
This is absolutely a beautiful and historical place to visit right here in Phoenix! Everyone should go!
Very interesting place with nicely maintained informational signs. Area is very well lit.
Easy parking at an interesting local site.
Excellent place to cool off
Yes you can walk near the cool falls
Just discovered this place driving by. Really nice.
Super relaxing, calming environment. We went after dark, and there were not too many people there - maybe a handful.
Took a walk thru the walkways and just enjoyed the view.
Fantastic spot to watch a sunset while out cycling. 🥰 …
Nice super quick stop with our toddlers on our way by. The girls loved it, and it was a nice stop on a hot day with the water spray. They were a little mad they couldn't get into the water at all haha... Nice place for pictures, but not a very long stop. Park on the other side of parking lot if you are interested with kids.
From other reviews it looks pretty no matter what time of day or sunlight
Loved it, needs a lot of maintenance and landscaping care...Please
Unbelievable open secret!! After finally visiting for the first time, I absolutely cannot believe that I once lived so close (about 5 miles) for so long (2 years) without ever even knowing that it was there (nearly 8 years ago!).
Now that I've been, this has become a regular visit spot even though its about 20 miles away... Go figure...lol! And... Go check it out!! :-D
Super cool canal falls - must vist
Relaxing place .
It's just for walking along the canal, there's nothing to buy here.
Cool to see in person but the water had a dead animal smell like something died in that water. Then we saw people fishing in it? We're not from here but it was cool to see.
Interesting look at bringing water and hydro power to the desert.
Nice little place. Free to enter. Big parking space.
It was a great place to see!
Great piece of art always worth a visit
Neat little attraction if you’re in the area
Magnificent viewpoint of camelback during sunset.
Really a cool thing to see for sure.
#hairball
Great location to meet up for a group ride or run. The canal stretches miles and miles West and East from this location. Great nearby options for snacks/beers to celebrate your victories.
Love ❤️ the place I never known this. Place existed
Fun location, peaceful even with traffic.
Always enjoy a morning run or walk along the canal when in town!
Was different than we thought it would be.
A wee bit of history here.
There are not that many people there to see this water fall turned into hydroelectric plant.
Such a nice place to visit.
An interesting stop for a few minutes. This can supply electricity for 150 homes
Very interesting piece of history hidden in plain sight.
Been in the valley a long time and never knew about this place stumbled upon it by accident. It's very cool for what it is and especially where it is. I'd recommend the visit at sunset
Pretty neat place to stop at if you're looking at something to fill a little time gap in your day.
It was a very relaxing vibe, white noise everywhere and the water smells pleasant. Lots to read about the canals and water systems.
Nice place to walk.
A beautiful place to go located between Phoenix and Scottsdale. The place seems hidden away from most places but is worth checking out non the less. The place is soothing, relaxing and amazing to go to. Arizona falls is a must stop place to any who enjoy hearing the sounds of waterfalls.
Pretty cool place to see.
Really neat location with interesting information about the place. Came here at night with my boyfriend, the spot with all the falls is romantic. Definitely recommend checking this out. There's an entire parking lot for it.
I really like the display here, there's a lot of facts and information about the history of Arizona and our water system. The roaring water is pretty impressive and I would recommend anyone to go and check it out there is also a setup of some mini waterfalls and there's an opportunity to take pictures there. You also have the opportunity to walk along the canal
Some cool views even at night!
Not as big or cool as we had hoped but cool nonetheless, along the Arizona Canal as well which was awesome to walk along and read about!
Beautiful place. Great for kids. Also connected to a park.
Interesting little urban waterfall connected to the canal. The park attached to this is quite small (no playground), includes bathrooms grassy area and tennis courts.
A nice place to just relax. Very nice!
These are not natural waterfalls. The visit may roughly take 15 minutes. Going at night ia not recommended. There are a few benches when you could sit down and chill. There's a tennis court nearby if you like tennis.
A fun little thing to do for a few minutes and kids like the small water fall but I would only stop if you are already in the area.
It's a cute date spot. There's always people around, even if you go there super late to avoid the AZ 🌞
Wonderful piece of Phoenix history. The hydroelectric generation is still operational today!
Went for a run here and didn’t expect this treasure. Really well put together!
A quick stop. Nothing extraordinary, but still recommended since it's free and easy to get to.
For whatever reason I like this place. It's a waterfall/ electricity generating facility. If you enjoy listening to the sound of the running water and the feeling of the wet breeze on your face, you probably will enjoy this place. It is also quite enjoyable in the evening solitude after a nice bike ride along the canal. Cheers!
Nice seeing water going again. So peaceful
Pretty cool place.
If you want to claim to have visited Phoenix's only waterfalls this is it. Stopped here on a bike tour.
Serenity. Information, inspiration. A quiet place to take a much needed meditative 5-20 minute time out. Uninterrupted. Learnt some well to do projects and worth SRP has done. Changed mu view if them completely . Oened up my mind.
Closest thing to waterfalls in old town/South scottsdale area. Tourists , tourism, visitors and scenic tours and hotel staff should defininateky be aware of and both highlight as a spot of beauty and zen. Reminder to take your peace of breath when you need it and that being alone is actually a beautiful thing at times.

Psst!!! Don't tell everyone, this is a spot secret!
This is my G-19, top level security, hideaway, place that takes me away from here & I use to clear my mind or to relax. Best kept secret in the Valley. Can have bugs & flying insects (nats? Termites?flies?) due to the water in certain areas, if you're squeemish. Wear shoes that have grip (no flip flops) and you're okay w/ getting dirty from the wind blowing dust, dirt & sand plus wet pavement in a few spots. There are places to sit. Please leave you pets. Everybody isn't a fan & it more for human enjoyment. I turn my earbuds and just watch the water and feel the coolness. Can get hit during the day when temps 110°+. Best times are about an hour before dawn until about 90 minutes after and about 45 minutes before dusk until the lights come on & the sky is dark. There's some seating. Please don't litter. It's for everyone, not just you. Pretty safe even at night. There are security cameras in several locations that are possibly continually monitored by PPD. I can't say enough about how I love this place! It's a must see for chill space for up to an hour.
Cool place to check out! There are walking & cycling paths nearby and observation areas for looking at the SRP project and falls. Great views of Camelback Mountain too.
Very nice place in the middle of the city take you out of the noise and heard the water falls is very nice
Very cool water features!!! Great for pictures. The actual site is not very big. Nice place to see if you're already in the area.
Ran a race. Beautiful mountains around.
Beautiful architecture that creates a calm and peaceful setting. Definitely worth a stop and stroll about 😁 …
It looked better on the news program.
Very pretty! The sound of flowing water being in short supply out here!
Beautiful quick stop
I have lived in Arizona for over 10 years and did not know about this beautiful place...
Urban waterfall. Beautiful. Unique.
Cool to see, great amount of learning information.
Fun, quick place to visit. Nice photo spot. Beware of the rotten fish smell!
Would be 5 stars if I were allowed to kayak it or raft down it but naaahhhhhhhhhhhh.
Pretty cool but not much to do here.
So peaceful. And beautiful at sunset.
Very nice spot well lit at night
Went there with my girlfriend and watched the sun rise . It's a cool spot to checkout
Quick place to visit for 15 minutes. Not much to see. It's more like a step in the canals water flow. Dual 20 foot falls and plenty of stairs. Not recommended for people with disabilities in mobility. Nice and cool during the summer heat!
Nice peaceful spot in the middle of the city. Gained a new appreciation of the ways water has been harnessed.
Nice little rest spot if you're biking the Arizona Canal Trail. Very relaxing late at night and helps clear my head before taking a long bike ride.
My son told me about it so we came to check it out. Pretty cool place. Has a park with grass and plenty of free parking. Facility is clean and well taken care of.
it was closed so i didn't get to see much
Beautiful (even though man-made) waterfalls in the middle of a desert city! Quite peaceful at night, some might call it romantic, & big enough for some privacy away from other visitors
Really cool. Really neat mechanical engineering and cool ecosystem. You should Google the history behind it. Pretty neat at night I'm sure. Can't swim in the water. Water Is not treated
Cool little artsy spot to take the dog for a walk
Great piece of Phoenix history. There are man made mini falls. Great place for a bag lunch from the local deli across the street.
Easy to get to
Maybe nicer in evening
Such a cool spot to relax in the middle of the city.
Decent park. Cool place to see some water. I hope they will pave more paths to connect the falls to the canal trail. It's strange how you go like a hundred yard east and west of the falls and all of a sudden the paths are paved. Why not connect it? Would make the falls more of a biking/blading destination if more was paved...
It is a cool spot to takes some pictures and feel a cool breeze off the water
Great visual water experience. We need a place to enjoy the water. I had 11 year olds who wanted to get wet and were tempted by the canal and areas where waterline was not fenced. Very dangerous. I feared my puppy was going to fall in the water.
Pretty spot next to the canal. Could use better shading for seating
Feel free to check out my Instagram for more photos ig : xjoshuawellsx
Very cool, calming great place to hang out for a little bit. There is even ducks swimming around. Very picturesque. Thanks to all the hard workers contracted by SRP that built this waterfall canal and thank you SRP for designing the best looking canal in Phoenix it's just not plain jane like the others in town that are closer to where we live. Will be going back though maybe at night for better pictures.
Super cool design that lets you for all intensive purposes walk right under multiple waterfalls through its well planned architecture. You can also see everything from above. There is nearby parking and a nice biking / hiking path runs along side the canal the falls are built on and continues through Phoenix into old town Scottsdale.
I was looking for unique places Arizona Falls comes up so I decided to go. It's a restored hydroelectric plant. The water that falls from it are pretty cool. Good place for photos. Then there is a path that runs along both sides of the water way. It's not paved very well be careful of stumbling on small rocks. Wear correct shoes as I did not. It looked like a great walk. I ventured out maybe a 1/4 mile round trip. There are porta pottys. I could see tennis courts in the distance. Very clean. I will be back to actually take a walk or ride a bike. I enjoyed myself.
So interesting and a hidden gem right in the middle of the city. I grew up here and had no idea it even existed until I saw an article in the AZ Republic. It would be a great place to bring a sack lunch and sit to enjoy the cool refreshing air off the waterfall.
Neat place to take a quick detour
Excellent little hideaway. Nice place to go and chill and relax for a bit. Kinda cool what they did with a canal! The lower area by the waterfalls is VERY slippery!!!
Knowing nothing about these falls it came up as a point of interest on google maps as something that was near by where we were. The falls were not in for our visit. Not sure if they have a time or whatever might need to look into that. Not sure it would be that interesting even if they were on. But kind of funny and ironic as a place like Arizona shouldn’t really have waterfalls especially in the spring and summer.
Very pretty. Great quick stop.
Cool place takes 5 minutes to see it all. Not a destination but if it's on the way I recommend. Cool side note, birds made nests from mud on the far end.
Neat place I've driven by here a thousand times and didn't realize it was here.
Awesome place for free fun, education, and beautiful waterfalls without the hiking like most AZ waterfalls. Highly recommended! Great place for a free date with cute waterfall selfies and learning about SRP supplying us with energy.
Very cool spot to chill and soak up some very energetic negative ions dispersed by the tons of falling waters. Very noisy, though, due to the emense amount of water passing over this once natural geological formation. It can also be a bit trash infested, and dirty, so keep watch on the kiddies, but a great place from the normal site seeing adventures within the city...There's a Starbucks and Yogurt place real close - bonus!
This is a fun visit spring, summer, or fall. However, in the winter the canal water level is too low for the "falls" to flow. Winter is a nice time for a hike or bike ride along the canal trails some of which is concrete. Rental bikes are available along most of the trail with your smart phone by the hour and can be left anywhere along the trail.
Park was rather bare bones compared to others I've seen in Phoenix... But the waterfalls were a rather ingenious invention, and it put the decommissioned water plant to good use. Not at all crowded on a weekend day, and there is a grassy area nearby with trees.
A hidden gem. Very interesting, educational, and beautiful. Plus there is a nice park with bathroom. And the trail was a lovely stroll.
If you want to get away from your house before you lose your last thread of patience worth the drive for a bit of history and cool spot to sit. Nice park as well and tennis courts.
If you want all the canal smell with the added bonus of great architecture and some history, look no further! Best canal overpass. Not sure what else to say, still a canal
It’s a cool sight but really not much to see for more that 10-20 minutes
Cool spot to explore with the kids. Nobody else was around either so it was perfect.
Ran a 5k here, it has a great view
We have been going here for quite a while now for different kiddos Sports practice events. It's a nice place not too many people which allows for a good amount of space to practice, a good amount of shade, public restrooms, and a large parking lot. I would recommend this place.
Cool place to visit for some nice pictures. Also some cool informational signs on how the water canals were made and are used.
We had heard a lot of good things about Arizona Falls, and we were in the area with some out of town guests, so we decided to go and show them. We were extremely disappointed when we arrived and saw that it was part of a construction project, and it looked to us like they were dredging the canal that the water feeds to, which resulted in the falls to be turned off. Couldn't find any information saying how long it would be down or when water would be flowing again. We will go back, but probably not for a while, just because it's not near our normal areas we go.
Love this place. Open all night has great energy. Maybe because it makes energy
Majestic and powerful! An awesome hidden treasures here in Arcadia, AZ, part of the Salt River Project, dating back over two millennia, as part of the Hohokam water canal system...the first hydroelectric power plant and today, powers the town of Arcadia (approximately 500 homes).
They host events and engage tourists.
A beautiful, must-see spot in Arizona! I love this place!
Arizona Falls are restored hydroelectric plant & gathering place with waterfalls, a shaded viewing room & footbridge. The site showcases the Phoenix Art Commission’s "WaterWorks at Arizona Falls" project, designed by renowned Boston artists Lajos Heder and Mags Harries. It is a cool place to stop by and hang around for a while, if you are in the area and like waterfalls, water or interesting places.
You'd never guess we have this interesting park in the middle of Phoenix. It's a great reminder of the importance of water in the desert and all the work done to manage it. Open to the public any time you need a waterfall in your life.
Fun little spot we stopped at for a quick picnic. We sat on some rock benches and my kids threw twigs in the water and watched them flow down the waterfall.
Awesome spot to cool down on a hot day. It was entirely too hot when we went, there was no one out, and we made it 5 minutes before the sweltering heat got the best of us. I'd love to return a cooler day.
Very neat place.
We have never done a food tour and it was great fun. We met nice people, Zac told us about Scottsdale, and had a nice variety of food at 5 different restaurants. We will do this again even in other states. Well worth the money!!!
Nice place to visit and next to a park. Good for meditating
Arizona Falls is a neat feature to stop and see. It is part of the canal system and has a bike/walking path next to it. There are quite a few 5k events that happen there. The parking is less than desirable because it is just a big rectangle parking lot with only 1 entry/exit. It can get very congested with events there. The restrooms are also less than desirable because of the lack of privacy and the horrific smell of the open waste below. Make sure you don't need to go while you're there.
Its an interesting experience. It would be even better if people were able to see the turbine at work... but still good place to check out.
Great little spot to cool off in the shade and eat lunch or relax
It is an interesting 5 minute diversion. There are tennis courts you can leverage. Worth a ten minute side trip but wouldn't make a day of it.
Perfect to sit and have some air in the heat
Such a relaxing place to visit, love to sit there and watch the sun go down. So Beautiful.
Honestly just fine, not really much to do, the waterfalls while nice really all that there was to seez beside that there is a small park, so I'm sure many can find some enjoyment from this
Surprised the wife with a detour trip to the falls
It's beautiful. There are waterfalls, a second story, bike paths and places to sit and enjoy the scenery. Also there is a Pokemon gym. There is also a Pokemon gym at the church Norse of the falls and in herberger Park to the east and for Poké stops. You can sit in one parking space and drop 3 lures at pokestops and be busy for quite some time.
Was a nice place to stop and have a break on our canal ride. Added bonus: Got to enjoy the radio+snoring from the transient gentleman napping in the corner. (I don't mean that sarcastically)
You'll be amazed of this construction.
It's a pretty interesting structure with cool history behind it. Worth checking out.
Finding water in the desert is its own little miracle! I just wish there was green space around the falls where you can set in the grass and look at the water.
This place is a little different from other places in Phoenix. Read the plaques and learn a little about why Phoenix even exists.
Cool place to take out-of-towners. We use the adjacent park as a jumping off point for bike rides along the canal to the Scottsdale Waterfront.
Not in operation at the moment. Cleaning canal.
didn't even know this place existed. all the sudden there's a damn there and I'm sleeping on it at 3:00 a.m..
Great place that shares a little history. Open 24/7. Bring a coffee and your thoughts.
It's very nice and quite. The water wasn't on but I'm sure it's beautiful when it is.
Amazing place right off the road. I love to take pics there because we don't have a lot of waterfalls in PHX. LOL Perfect for my Steampunk shoot. Thanks Mardi Gras Costume shop for helping with this one.
Cool scenery, great place to take a date for some walking and talking
This is a great spot to take a date and just enjoy the surroundings. The water is loud enough to give a cool effect but quiet enough for conversation at a normal volume.
A pleasant surprise in the dessert! Nice little park, relaxing scenery and fish to view! ADA/wheelchair friendly in most places.
I love this place, a great place to come for a walk and to just enjoy the outdoors within city limits
Arizona Falls lies on the Arizona canal trail so if you walk, run or bike around, it is a nice place to stop by. Number of info panels that are quite informative. There is a park in the area so it's ok to drive here and park. I like these industrial spots so I give my 5 stars.
Arizona Falls is Drop Dead Gorgeous! First you see it then you drop dead... LOL beautiful houses beautiful landscape nice quaint organize shopping. People in this area are living a good life... Also the Mayo Clinic is not far from this location so you know it's nestled in a good area!
Love this place! It's a great opportunity to learn about history and see some mechanical things in action. Alao has a wonderful Park and it's right along the walking trails of the canal.
Liked it, more of a place to have a party or a picnic date there. Very small area so not something major to see.
Even though this place isn't very big, I love visiting it. Be careful though..the water makes it slippery.
I stumbled upon this place by accident and had no clue it existed. I don't have any words for the awesomeness of this place. If you're stressed out or looking for a tranquil place for meditation, this is the place to come to!
Great to visit because water in the desert is amazing. The loud crashing of the falls in the space provided makes it a little difficult to enjoy, cacophonous even. Still a great place to visit and introduce others to.
Nice little spot for viewing a waterfall in the middle of the city.
Urban waterfalls, a nice surprise that this is open to the public :) make sure to enjoy :)
One of the best place & no one believe there's is a falls in Arcadia & It is worthy & fantastic & you can spend trail along canal & watch Arizona falls & watch birds as well👍 …
So so peaceful ✌️
such a fun place to watch a winter sunset in Phoenix! the water smells a bit fishy but... it's got fish in it, what do you expect! plus there are interperetive signs that tell the history of the canals - from their native american origins until now! and there's a beer garage right down the street!
Interesting visit and not a long stay. The park next to the waterfall has volleyball, tennis, and pickleball. Good entertaining stop.
Though we liked the overall feel of the place, the area stinks. Be prepared for this when you visit
Kids thought this was cool to check out. We will have to come back. The Falls actually weren't running maybe because of the rain.
We stopped here on our road trip. It was a lot smaller then I thought but was still nice and not a long walk
This area is best accessed from the 5802 E. Indian School Rd. parking lot. Climb up the stairs to see the SRP Energy signs, then take the stairs down again.
By the falls, there were some concrete cubes (presumably seats that you can sit on), however it was too wet to sit on any of them. The falls have 2 sections- one is a gentle cascade that falls over a rock wall and then in front you have to 2 falls that face each other on opposite ends of the bank. The falls weren't the huge waterfall I was expecting, but still a nice view.
Downsides were- the area by the falls was wet, looked drab in colors, and the water fountains did not look too clean to drink from.
Nice pice of Arizona history. While man made the falls are a place to relax.
This was a really pretty spot to check out, I do wish there was more material about the history of the location but still a cool place to check out.
Nice little fall right in the heart of the city. Kids loved seeing the falls. Neat spot to hang for a short amount of time but not a singular destination on it's own.
It was a beautiful day and the falls and information signs are really cool.
It's pretty small, but the water falling looks very good.
Love running races here. It is so nice to run the canal. The waterfall is peaceful in the evening..
Definitely a cool construction and worth a look! The skeeters down on the lower level were about the biggest I've ever seen, so keep an eye out for em
Nice park with some hydroelectric knowledge. Enjoyed the falls.
It was very interesting. We had no idea that it was there and just happened upon the falls. They have outside public restrooms for visitors.
Pretty cool. You'd never know the place was there without travelling the canal path or stopping at GR Herberger part. Nice place to take a break.
I like this place because is peacefull with the park and the canal good place to take a walk and stretch your legs read a book or simply just to get away from the old lady
Great place to practice taking moving water photos.
It's a fun place to visit and and go for a walk. I would recommend not going later in the night because there are a ton bugs/mosquitoes that come nearby the water.
ARIZONA FALLS
Ok sort of place. Probably really nice when the falls are open. Located next to Herberger park. You can easily take a walk or ride bike along the canal from this location.
Did a 5k race there is a nice spot
Great place to visit during cooler weather...
Cool place. Nice informative & interactive way to see the water recycling process. Super nice at sunset with camelback mountain in the background.
Tha k you for preserving this little spot. Well designed surroundings and great to have explanations of what the river is doing. Loved out stop here
Nothing too special but it was free and it was something to do while I was already out
I stop by on my bike rides now and then.
Interesting and historical, hot and humid in the summer.
Awesome place to unwind!!
Awesome little spot to hang out and listen to the falls.
It was closed and gated on my visit
Love this place, nice falls and I do a lot of my races there.
It's nice you can go down to an area that you can sit under the fall
A must see.
An amazing place in Phoenix. I've lived here over 40 years and never stop by. It's a little waterfall and kind of peaceful.
Pretty cool. Canal water ways from ancient Indian canals. Pretty fascinating.
Learned some new AZ history
AZ falls is a hidden gem on indian school - 56th st. Cool off from the heat, shade ,& water falls to watch! History placards, super🌴🇺🇸♥️🙂 …
This place is very cool. Its one of those hidden spots that I've driven by a hundred times but never saw.
Nice relaxing place. One spot only to sit and view the falls.
Great gem of the city
Not amazing, but cool for a short walk and a little history.
Located along the canel, it is a nice spot for a photo op.
Nice little spot to visit and the park next door made for a great afternoon
Dope little waterfall place to take pics with my slam piece 👌 …
This is a fun find. Take the family, stop and see this cool little place. Learn a little. Stop and think for a second. It's worth your time.
Went in the evening after sunset. The falls were beautiful and very peaceful.
Fun little visit. I wouldn't make a special trip for it, but we were driving past and stopped.
Such a lovely area. The park on the other side has very soft grass that is great for picnicking.
Interactive tour was informative and well done. Enjoyed learning more about the history, upkeep, and services provided by the canal system.
Falls weren't running.
It was interesting, my date hurried me threw it tho. I did not get to explore, maybe next time.
Cool little peace in the middle of town. Good history.
Very peaceful to listen to the water. Nice hiking nearby as well.
Quite a nice way to take Canal water and put it to good use as well as creating an aesthetic stop while walking or bicycling down the canal path
Nice waterfalls and power station exhibit. You can walk around and see all the parts of the falls.
Nice place to walk around and see the Falls. Great opportunity for beautiful scenery and exercise with family, friends, and loved ones.
Had a mini photo shoot tonight🌃🌙 💓
This photo was taken on my phone but the photographer used a professional camera📷
Not a bad place for spending time in evening
Cool concept and literally takes 5 minutes so see
I love this place and have for long time. I come here too relax and clear my thinking. Best place ever
Really cool place, worth a quick stop!
Nice rest stop on our bike rides, water is flowing again after dry-up for bridge repairs to the east.
Arizona falls is a great place to reflect on things. The canal is empty at the moment so the waterfall is not running. That's why I gave it 4/5
Neat place to take kids and learn about water. Take a lunch. Good rest stop as you bike or run the canal.
Cool place to look at you can fish there
Nice but not too much to look at. But it was a nice man made waterfall.
Beautiful park. Nicely maintained trails and restrooms. Very quiet and peaceful.
It was a lovely view!! However it would have been much nicer if the waterfalls were running!!
Phoenix has a waterfall. Great place to stop by and checkout to learn about Phoenix and SRP history.
Cool spot, but the water is gross and it's spraying everywhere
Great place to take a walk, have a chat
Nice location🙂
Arizona's first hydroelectric plant, this is now a part of the Central Arizona Project canal system. It may not be a massive museum, but it does tell a history about Arizona's energy system. Just remember the water that courses through it and the canal is reclaimed system water - not for swimming, drinking, or fishing..!
Absolutely gorgeous. At least three sets of man made waterfalls. Great for photos.
Nice place to cool off if you stand right next to it.
Phenomenal place. Great history.
Locations and sunset view is great! Only negative point is for stinky water smell
Park area clean good place to walk the dog away from a lot of ppl and other dogs you're able to avoid if needed
Visited at night and loved it. Probably even cooler during the day
Loved it. And very surprise of this beautiful place. Visit it, you'll love it!
Very cool place that many don't know about. Check it out!
Love it, cool place to chill. . But there were no lights on at night. .
It's a beautiful Oasis in a busy part of the city. Eat at one of the nearby delicious restaurants, and walk off your meal at Arizona Falls.
Gorgeous bike ride to take to a little known piece of Arizona's history. Such power it has to give, especially after a storm!
Neat place. Nice to see the progression of what started with Hohokam Indians digging by hand. Not at all natural. Interesting engineering.
Great place to explore, exercise, have group events.
Lovely place! Anywhere with moving water is a plus for me😊 …
Great place to get some exercise. Interesting too!
Nice place to stop and cool off. Water fountains are cold. Not crowded.
