Reviews of Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania
Beautiful! I came here with my boyfriend and we had a great time! It was a warm and sunny day so it was a perfect time to visit. The entire arboretum is beautiful and there is much to see. They do a great job with upkeep as well There are plenty of benches for rest and restrooms. This is perfect for a date or day trip and they even have family friendly activities as well.
Came in the springtime to see all the cherry blossoms and other spring blooming flowers! Well maintained walking paths lead you through the park to explore all the different types of trees, shrubs, and flowers this place has to offer. Plenty of parking and restrooms on site. Kind of pricey to get in ($20 per person) but worth it if you get the opportunity to explore the entire place! Lots to learn and they have placards to help identify what you are looking at.
A small slice of peace, nature, and trees among the busy and bustling city. We got there pretty late and were bummed that we weren't able to stay super late. But even the 30 minutes that we were able to spend were amazing. The Arboretum is very well maintained and accessible - there's so much we saw, and yet so much I have to go back and see!
We are so thankful for the Morris Arboretum and all their wonderful staff. We had the pleasure of working closely with both Toy and Sarah Ruth for our Fall wedding and they worked so hard to make sure that our big day was absolutely perfect. We originally planned to get married at a different venu but had to change venues about 4 months out and Morris went above and beyond to welcome us into their family and ensure that our wedding day was everything we wanted. Their incredible land is unmatched in Philadelphia. There are so many incredible spaces for photos, ceremony, and cocktail hour. It’s an absolutely stunning space and we feel so fortunate that we got to get married in such a beautiful place.
This is a wonderfully beautiful Arboretum with numerous innovative structures, great pathways, a superb greenhouse, a miniature train structure, many babbling streams of water, and contains various animal and plant life. There is a decent amount of free parking, a gift shop, helpful and friendly staff, multiple stations to sanitize your hands, as well as restrooms throughout. There are sensible covid-19 procedures in place. Can't wait to return after the spring to see it in bloom!
A great place to spend a half a day with my
toddler! Their season railway is awesome, and plenty of space to run around. It was very interesting to look for swing throughout the arboretum, we found almost all of them!
My favorite place! Such a beautiful and relaxing place to go. I highly recommend a visit! It’s nice to visit in all seasons. Beautifully and lovingly maintained, all the staff have been kind and helpful. It has become my true safe space and I am so lucky to have it a part of my life!
First time here for the Summer of swings and absolutely loved it! What a cool place to take the kids and walk around and explore. Bring a cooler with some snacks and have a mini picnic. Moms can do a lot of “sittervising” here with comfort knowing the kids are playing in a safe, enclosed space. We stopped by the cafe to grab a bite to eat. The food was decent. We will return!
Beautiful outdoor place. This is a nice escape from the city noise and air pollution to pure air and get one with nature. Enjoyed every bit of this place. Miniature train is the highlight. Good to hang out with friends too.
A lovely experience. Wide variety of trees, flowers, and other flora. Great for all ages. Good place to go for a long stroll on a sunny day. The Cafe is pretty tasty, too!
I have been going here since I was a child and now I'm so happy to be able to share this beautiful gem of a place with my daughters. I love every trip. Just so beautiful and peaceful! I do recommend trying to go on a weekday, if possible, because it can get pretty crowded over the weekend.
I really like Morris Arboretum any time of the year.
Of course spring is better when plants and trees are in bloom. Many great walking trails and unique spots to stop and enjoy nature.
Amazing spot to escape the city and get some fresh air and see some amazing trees and plants. Small enough to take kids but not too big to the point they complain. Little something for everyone between sculptures, the fairy garden for kids, the Japanese hill garden, the swan pond, and more.
Came here for the first time over the summer. Lived in Philly all my life and never been here. I have been missing out. Think Longwood gardens, but for trees. I quickly purchased a membership. Such a beautiful and well maintained area. Also forgot to add that while there are several trails to follow, there are so many hidden paths. I discover a new place each time I go!
The installation of the 10 swings is brilliant! Now watching 5 thirty+ year olds who are taking turns, laughing and enjoying the gentle swinging pleasure as their body memories kick in to say “pump your legs, stay straight .” Today I’m walking clockwise to visit my favorite trees, listen to the fountains and savor summer’s end. I am a member and LOVE coming in every season. Thank you!
We had the nicest time here. The staff was very helpful and it is such a beautiful place. The rose garden, fernery and model trains are not to be missed. You can easily spend the whole day here.
This is my sanctuary and at the same time one of my favorite wedding venues to recommend my clients who are looking for a non traditional, natural and fresh approach to a wedding celebration around Philadelphia. There is so much to do here, so much to explore and so many opportunities for amazing photography and videography. Every time my clients choose this venue, my heart sings :)
Can't wait to be back next spring for more beautiful celebrations.
p.s. wear comfortable shoes and clothes when here :)
This Graden Is One of The Most Beautiful Gardens I Ever Seen! Since it's around Halloween they Have Scarecrows everywhere and their Rose and Flowers and different From Around The World Are Soo Beautiful I also loved the greenhouse. This trip is Definitely worth it !
This botanical collection at the Morris Arboretum is outstanding and the grounds are beautifully maintained. The pathways, buildings, sculptures, trellises and fountains showed off ways to integrate a human presence in landscapes that enhances them.
Drove from Baltimore to visit the Morris Arboretum and Philadelphia Zoo. My train loving 2 year old spent two hours staring at the trains and running the loop. He had so much fun we ended up skipping the zoo. The facilities were well maintained, we had a quick bite at the cafe, and appreciated the mix of sunny and shaded walking paths. I hope the gift shop starts stocking the adorable train tshirt in toddler sizes. I suspect we will be visiting again soon.
My visit was pronted to see the railway.
The property is vast. For the most part trails are paved. But there are hidden gems, like gardens, large sculptures, creeks to name a few. To view them must stray away from the paved trail, walk on the grass and unpaved trails . There is an unpaved trail to the wetlands and view of the Wissahickon Creek
The railway was nicely done, with the lower scale fine details. Plenty to see here.
The tea house was inviting. It allows for great views all around from the susoended bridge.
Lots of walking, comfortable shoes needed, seating areas is spreadout. Wear layers this time of the year.
Lastly, suspect flowering season would be the best time to visit, 😉 return trip.
Worth exploring!
I knew I wanted to have my wedding reception at the Morris Arboretum before I was even engaged! The grounds and gardens are gorgeous. The venue was perfect for my vintage, Bridgerton garden theme. This venue offers such a unique experience, especially with the option to have your cocktail hour in the "Out on a Limb" treehouse, which we did. Our guests are still raving about how unique it was. The sunset during cocktail hour in early October along w/ our harpist we had playing created a whimsical experience in the trees. The reception tent fits about 175, but we had 115 and it was perfect. Just enough room for the dance floor, bar area, and tables without it being too crowded. The staff at the MA are super kind, helpful and responsive. They offer a golf cart for the day of to transport for photos, to explore the grounds and help elderly/handicapped folks around. There are a lot of rules since this is an arboretum and they have to protect it, but you honestly don't need much given the natural beauty. We used Wild Stems to install the dance floor and ceiling decor for the tent and Company's Coming as our caterer. The whole experience was perfect. Our guests, family, friends and most importantly ourselves all had a lovely, fun, memorable time. Everyone is still talking about it! The MA and their staff were a huge part of our wedding success!
Wonderful gardens with lots of interesting trees and plants. They also have good Halloween decorations and a great model train experience.
As an affiliate of the University of Pennsylvania, one of the perks I get is free admission to this beautiful space. It is very well-maintained arboretum with nice paths to walk on. Lots of sculptures and gardens adorn the arboretum. There's a picnic area that my family enjoyed a peaceful lunch at during our last visit. The swans are pretty. The miniature railroad display is fun for all ages. The restrooms are very well-maintained. There are educational exhibits for young learners that are fun to walk around/through. The timed/dated tickets ensure that the space is never too crowded.
All-in-all, it is a wonderful place to spend a few hours in nature.
Beautiful, well kept grounds with even nicer staff. Shout-out to Terri, who let my grandmother in as her guest for her 80th birthday. You'll definitely enjoy visiting, but remember to wear good shoes and bring some water with you. The best spots are the fernery and the train layout.
Absolutely stunning place! It's very well taken care of, with lots of beautiful displays of flowers, gardens and structures. Recently took maternity photos there and love the pictures! Staff is wonderful.
Great place for exploring and. learning. Especially love the Out on a Limb elevated walk and displays in the tree canopies. Autumn is a great time to visit, shoot fire late Oct to mix November. Interpretive signs and i.d. tags are plentiful. Docents wander the grounds to help with their vast knowledge and stories . Our favorite stops were the willow sculpture, fernery greenhouse and the log cabin. Plan on at least two hours. Acessibilty is very good overall. Fun areas for kids.
October 7 / 2022 , 330pm on a cruise to nowhere 😁. Ended up at Morris Arboretum . WOW 😳, this place is AMAZING, didn't get to see everything will definitely be back . 👍Need more pictures 😂 …
What a great place to walk around!! Well maintained flower gardens. Such a quiet little peaceful area!
Gorgeous landscape and views. The facility is very well preserved. I went here to set up for an event as a vendor and was treated very well. However, there are a lot of restrictions. It was also 95 degrees when I was setting up so it may have skewed my opinion. The rose garden is gorgeous and very well preserved.
The Morris Arboretum is a treasure of early 1900s garden design in the European fashion. The Victorian fernery, restored, is a masterpiece. Tree lovers will enjoy the mature cultivar specimen, a rare treat. Their education program seems highly involved, great to see.
I LOVE photographing weddings at Morris! Great staff, food, location and vibe. Melisa & Cole had a blast! Ig @moonhoneyphotography
Beautiful grounds with colorful foliage, sculptures throughout, and plentiful walking paths + benches! I visited in the later summer and imagine it would be spectacular to visit in each season to see the changes in the landscape and the plantings.
This place is very quiet. We will return anyway. The nature and the entertainment for kids are great. The staff is nice. Thanks.
Great to be a member again!! I love going to Morris for a few hours and having a family picnic, exploring our favorite spots and enjoying nature! Perfect way to socially distance as the summer comes to an end. Especially appreciated the running model train exhibit!!
Great staff. Friendly and helpful. Experiences for all ages and many interests. Lots to explore. Rose garden and Wetlands are very special. We enjoy the evening programs.
Went here on a Tuesday. Was very relaxing with beautiful views everywhere you look. My favorite spot throughout the park was most definitely the redwoods, when looking at them you almost feel transported to a different place. The only thing I would have liked was more of the little informational stands that described the different types of trees/plants. Overall a beautiful place and would definitely go again. Also I would like to add that while sitting at the benches by oak aile i was surprised to spot a deer roaming the gardens here and it was a great pleasure to watch.
Cool sunny day for a wedding. Turned a lot cooler after sunset.
Nice venue for this wedding, champagne first, ceremony next, treehouse for appetizers and the warm tent for reception. Could only have asked for warmer weather, everything else was perfect.
Amazing and the perfect for children. Most of the paths are paved and stroller accessable. Set aside 1.5-2 hours to cover the entire arboretum. Highly recommend. Students bring your Penn card for free admission.
Beautiful garden- loved every bit of the tree top net, tropical rain forest, rose garden, miniature train tracks - worth visiting
Amazing arboretum! It’s about a 2 hour walk and is super peaceful. Lots to see. You could spend all day here if you wanted.
A great place to visit with a nature-loving toddler. There is so much to explore and to do, you are guaranteed a couple of hours of engagement!
I have driven past the Morris Arboretum hundreds of times. I’m so glad I explored it today. Extraordinary gardens and space to walk and enjoy.
Beautiful venue for an outdoor wedding! We were able to tour the grounds before and after the ceremony. Nice patio type area for dinner service and dancing.
The train garden is beautiful. The little replica houses are whimsical and clever. Lots to see and explore. The fernery is stunning and so calming. I could spend hours in there! Can't wait to go back in the spring.
Sarah Ruth, the rentals manager at Morris Arboretum, guided us from day one of our wedding planning. She was professional, well organized, and her communication was excellent. Expectations were set from the beginning; Should you book here, remember that this is first an arboretum and protecting the grounds is top priority (tell your memaw to leave the confetti at home.) Nature gifted us an INCREDIBLE display of fall color. The event was seamless, our guests raved about both the foliage and the way the caterer used the spaces (be sure to go with Out on a Limb for your cocktail hour!) and our photographer marveled at the beautiful grounds. We felt supported in our decision to work with Morris Arboretum every step of the way. What a wonderful way to start our marriage! We are still glowing from the weekend. We absolutely recommend holding your wedding at Morris Arboretum <3
As you walk through the arboretum, you will delighted by one beautiful sight after another. Lots of very old trees, some from the 1800's, and shrubs will enchant you. The rose garden is wonderful with enough beautiful colors and scents to keep you busy for hours. A number of interesting exhibits that are unique. You can spend a whole day and not give everything the time it deserves.
I really enjoyed the arboretum. The canopy walk, rose garden and garden train were some of the highlights. I also liked all of the large, unique trees at the arboretum like the awesome Katsura tree.
This is a beautiful place to visit and walk around. Numerous individual gardens and foliage all around in between gardens and displays. Of course, the time of year dictates what is in bloom. Family friendly with kid play areas, a lookout, and even a simulated birds nest. If you are a walker, flower enthusiast or just looking for some ideas, this is a good place. Restrooms available. Check website for temporary displays. And, don't miss their outdoor train display. Hopefully it is operating when you visit.
The Visitors' Center staff was incredibly nice and helpful. The cafe staff was fine and the food was very good as well as good value. The gardens are lovely, well maintained, and easy to navigate. A little pricey for the entrance fee. We loved the trains, Mercury's Temple, and Out on a Limb. Would definitely go again, especially if a coupon was available.
I’ve held a reciprocal pass for gardens across North America for years. Morris Arboretum is one that I’ve revisited a few times. Plenty of room to wander via numerous walking trails (and accessible trails!) to experience various gardens, including but not limited to a fairy garden, a conservatory, interactive games/activities, tree houses, a suspension bridge, impressive garden railway, and sculpture garden for those with varied interests… Healthy outdoor ecosystem with a great variety of trees and plants, a pond, and so many types of ducks, birds, and insects!
We visit every fall to admire and vote in the creative community Scarecrow competition. On our recent visit, we admired the pristine renovation of the Orange Balustrade overlook. There is so much to enjoy year-round for all ages. There's a treehouse, a pond for swans and geese, an ice house and a little log cabin. A little off the beaten path is a Zen garden which is near the sauna-like fernery . If you have more time, there's a footpath that overlooks the Wissahickon Creek. Note that dogs are not allowed and food options are limited outside of summer peak hours.
The train setup was fantastic. A little trains go through all sorts of interesting little scenes. Note that these are model trains. They were plants and trees there that I have never seen before. A great experience!
Great place to come and relax and see nature. They have a decent amount of diverse settings with different fountains, a large sized bird nest for kids to look at and even a large model train section (during the summer).
Fun place for the kiddos to explore and good green outdoor space for adults to visit. Very cool activities and structures.
2022 review: We are so lucky to live near here. Now I have two kids and it's a perfect place to spend the day... with them or away from them!
2019 review: Beautiful lawns and gardens. (Mostly lawn.) Hilly, but a big hit with young families. Bring sun screen/hat.
Morris Arboretum is like a gem of joy in the middle of our beautiful city. I spent my time roaming the grounds. Listening to the nature sounds, birds, trees rustling. The gardens are gorgeous. I sat and journaled and literally spelled the roses. Absolutely refreshing.
The history of the Morris family buying 26 acres of land, including the Compton Mansion back in 1887 is quite interesting. Glad that Penn was later able to take ownership to make it available to the public.
Beautiful gardens but i wish they had more winter activities. It is worth the trip and the bathrooms are open all year round. The gift shop was pricy but most of it is hand crafted and handmade.
We go to the Morris Arboretum as often as possible. There are many paths to wander with markings for trees and plants of interest. The grounds are clean and well maintained. The Morris Arboretum is great place away from the hustle and bustle of the city with plenty of fresh air to enjoy.
Beautiful location Great catering facilities Very enjoyable Paths to Walk Very very well run
Now about this place. For one it's is truly a beautiful garden. A family place for kids to learn and see a different view of a hike and pathways through a beautiful garden. Also have a big hand made bird nest children, can run around through a high bridge and can see garden area's from bridge. That was fun. Just not a big big person myself so please come prepared with insects protection. They town me and my son legs up.... But over all a different view not saw daily. Definitely a awesome place for romantic long walks, with that special someone.🤗🤗🤗🤗
Did not expect what I found coming to Morris Arboretum. I was very impressed by the selection and the beauty of it all. The living sculpture was pretty awesome!! I really hate that absolutely hideous tent they attached to that beautiful house! Whose idea was that?!?!?! I wish I had more time, and more of the buildings were open. Will defiantly be back!!!
Beautiful place to walk and absorb nature.
I visited the Morris Arboretum when my parents were in town as a fun, family-friendly activity. The arboretum is difficult to get to without a car, which is why I hadn’t been there before. We went a little early in the season to see much in bloom and didn’t get to explore as much of it as a I would have liked due to my mom’s mobility issues, but what we did see was lovely. The history of the arboretum is very interesting and so hope to go back eventually to see the parts of the grounds so didn’t make it to on my first trip.
Lovely experience! Nice place to bring your family for a picnic or just stroll by yourself. Will definitely be returning with my little one!
Limited admission during the pandemic made for an uncrowded Sunday afternoon. Guests (& staff) adhered to wearing masks even in open spaces so I felt safe visiting. Most paths/areas are shady so it's a nice way to spend even a hot afternoon.
One of my favorite places. Gorgeous setting. I've taken classes from science to tree climbing. Even after 20 years climbing as an arborist I picked up new skills. I've spent half days just strolling along admiring trees and flowers. A family member had an amazing wedding there and we had the place to ourselves. The trees are all tagged for general knowledge. The fernery is awesome and really neat experience in the winter. I like the elevation changes through out the park. Makes for a gentle work out.
I sometimes mix a hike on Forbidden Drive and the Morris arboretum. There's some breakfast shops and restaurants near by. Great day for getting your flora on. A wholesome experience.
The Morris Arboretum is always a treat! I love that they have a mix of sculpture, native forest, ornamental gardens, and conservatories. I love the Tree Adventure exhibit too, even as an adult! Lots of great interactive and interpretive stuff which I always appreciate as an environmental educator
My daughter's school took a field trip here today and it was beyond awesome for the kids. We had a great time making our way around the gardens and running them up and down the hill by the ha ha wall was really nice! It's so beautiful this time of year and very enjoyable with or without children. As we were leaving my daughter was asking when we're coming back. Loved it!
Excellent arboretum, managed by University of Pennsylvania. The trees and plants are being built in the landscape. They are well marked by common and scientific names, making it a pleasure to walk around and learn about plants. The ground is well kept. The staff is helpful.
The "out on the limbs" exhibit is popular with young children and adults alike.
Family can spend 3 or 4 hours to explore. A place to spend with children on a nice day...
This is the most beautiful place this side of the world. It's beautiful all year round. I'm in awe of something different every time I visit. I'm having my 50th birthday party here and I can't think of a more special place to celebrate my new beginning.
Lots of work has gone into this place since I started coming out 20 years ago. They do everything they can to preserve the beauty. They've cared for the trees until they grow old and die. That's a long time. They also are constantly updating the garden with new plants and attractions.
Beautiful gardens. Interesting to see more of the tree structure without leaves in the winter. Lovely views and sculptures too.
I love walking through Morris Arboretum. It is a beautifully landscaped space with lovely gardens and spaces for just sitting and enjoying the grounds. The only downside is the price tag. However, the arboretum often offers discounted admission during the winter months after the holidays, and if you walk or bike in, the admission is half price.
I definitely loved Morris Arboretum! First of all, I love flowers and trees and springtime is my favorite. I went in early April and very much enjoyed the tulips and daffodils and especially the cherry trees! The log cabin was also a favorite as well as the redwoods. I would definitely return soon to see late spring plants and flowers. Well maintained, and really relaxing. And last but not least, I absolutely loved all the small paths and Japanese garden!
Pristine, quiet and relaxing place to go on a beautiful day. We came for the train exhibit (seasonal), but left full of joyful experiences and a great hike. The Garden Railway exhibit is rather small, but still very much worth it. You'll be taken aback by the whimsical models of classic Philadelphia/Pennsylvania architecture, or the elaborate and beautiful bridges, rivers, tunnels and winding tracks with lots of cool engines and train cars, but one thing is for sure - you and your little ones will not forget this so soon.
Don't stop there - go see the log cabin, treetop walkway with a human-size bird nest, the sculpture garden, the only free-standing fernarium in the country, and the beautiful rose garden that doesn't just feature roses!
After this trip, you'll be hungry, so stop by The Persian Grille, or Ye Olde Ale House nearby.
And come back in every season - this is a garden after all, so it's beautiful in every light, cover and temperature.
Beautiful and relaxing, and much less crowded than Longwood. There's a lot to explore here, with many exotic species of plants and trees. Highly recommend the "Hidden Gems" tour. Pack a picnic and spend the whole day here; there is also a cafe and small gift shop onsite. The treetop experience and model train area are truly unique. Not as immaculately landscaped or maintained as Longwood Gardens, but definitely beautiful and worth a trip!
Lush, verdant and peaceful. Beautiful, well maintained gardens and grounds. The Garden Railway is a particular draw for children as is the Out On a Limb tree canopy walk and scavenger hunt (ask in the visitor center). We found the grounds to be well attended yet not crowded at all. Ample parking. Worth a visit on your next trip to Philadelphia.
It is absolutely beautiful place in any season. Best part is one can let the kids run around without worrying them to get lost. I would suggest a visit on a sunny afternoon. It was quite pleasant and I recommend it.
If you're looking for a beautiful venue, look no further. Morris Arboretum weddings are gorgeous with a plethora of florals and plant life, its like a photographers dream! Staff on site was so kind and accommodating getting my couple and I anywhere throughout the grounds while simultaneously keeping us dry from the rain.
This is one of the best places around Plymouth. I recently discovered it after staying in this area for so long. I loved it for its calmness and scenic beauty. Its a great place to be with nature. Kids loved the toy train.
We love this place. So beautiful at any time of the year. Everytime I go I discover something I had not seen before. We really enjoyed the holiday rail garden. So amazing. We look forward to our next visit.
Visited the holiday garden railway nights back in December. It was amazing. Only downside is that it’s hard to get here through public transport. And walking from the main gate to the top of the hill in pitch dark with no street lights is a little tough.
Great Place for spending a day with family and friends. Beautiful parks, trails, tree house, gardens and swan 🦢 …
Such a beautiful place. Well laid out, easy paths, with new gems around each bend. Highly recommended.
Autumn is one of the best times of year to get out and wander the paths and learn about the generous history of the Morris family and their gift to our region.
Such a beautiful oasis❤ We get a membership. You can spend a day and just relax. They also offer classes, host events and have special event days. There's a cafe with organic food and a gift shop. It really is a jewel. You should visit!
The rose garden is wonderful with many varieties of roses, herbs and other plantings. The wetlands are also wonderful and natural. And the trees....!!
This is just a generally nice place to visit and either learn or simply get in touch with nature. They have several events throughout the year for all ages. Spring and summer are the best times since that is when the trees are full of leaves, but all times have their charm.
3 stars are for value/price ratio. If the ticket was $10, then I would give it 4 stars. The grounds are nice, though not spectacular. You can cover most of it in 2-3 hours. A few trees are interesting. Visitor center was crowded as was the main parking. If you have a day to spare, I would recommend spending a bit more and go to Longwood Gardens. Morris Arboretum is a nice place, but for $19 entry fees, underwhelming.
Truly an amazing oasis of nature in the heart of Chestnut Hill. It's like a smaller Longwood gardens, but what it gives up in size it makes up for with the rose garden, swan pond, log cabin by a brook, tree walk, and model train exhibit. The family had a great time and we'll definitely be back.
A wonderful and beautiful place to spend a day with friends and family, with stunning views, animals, birds, and deer.
I thank the on-site staff, who was well received, and welcoming .
This place is gorgeous. If you love nature then this is a good place to go. Also, great photos were taken here.
The staff is always nice and they actually offered us a student discount even tho not everyone in the group had a student ID.
The only thing I found complicated was getting there. You need to take the subway from downtown Philly and then a bus.
Nice place. Beautiful gardens and trees 😍 one of my favorite places been going for years …
Lovely afternoon outing, I'll have to come back in the summer for roses
I was only here once and it was this past Father's day with my kids who are members. I can see why,..the staff is polite and helpful. The gardens are a gem and the lay out prevents you from feeling you walked that far. Something to see at every turn. Must see the redwood trees! Plenty of shade trees on a scorching day so you are not frying in the sun.
Check it out. I hope to see you there.
An amazing place for a wedding!
The cocktail hour in the tree house is unmatched!
Great place to walk around and enjoy the sights. Especially when the trains come out! Kids and adults love the trains.
Beautiful and so many things to see. The tree canopy is very cool. Can't wait to go back and explore more. The gift store has so many great items.
I had a great experience at Morris Arboretum. I was there for 3 days for a tree climbing class. The class was awesome. I learned a lot. The campus that I did see was beautiful.
I was immediately in love with this facility. You really need to see it. I attended a wedding there. Perfect location for a wedding. Wear comfortable footwear.
This is a lovely place. I love the trees, flowers, rolling hill and sculptures. Remember water sunscreen and a bandaid if your kids are adventurous. Be sure to check out the treehouse, fernary and rose garden.
Beautiful cherry blossoms and several events during specifically Sun/Sat. Taiko drumming was enjoyable and a tea ceremony demonstration were available. Two tours were also available for the specific trees.
Beautiful gardens, displays, walking trails and train display for the holidays. Great ideas and ways to educate children and inspire them to learn about nature!
We went here last week my granddaughters. We had the BEST day. They loved it & didn't want it to end. We didn't either. You can stroll around endlessly. This place is just amazing
Beautiful place!! Can't wait to come back in the Spring!
Great place to walk around, beautiful views, beautiful flowers and foliage
Absolutely love morris Arboretum!! I took my engagement pictures here and had to visit again when the flowers were more in bloom. Love the net canopy too
This is a beautiful quiet place to walk and reflect. My husband and I took my 2 yr old granddaughter and she loves it. We are now members and we look forward to visiting often.
An area treasure! So lucky to be able to visit this arboretum. I see and learn something new every visit.
A beautiful retreat. Flowers, sculptures, peaceful walks. But also fun for kids of all ages! Great to learn about nature, very educational. On one walk we saw two rabbits, a woodchuck, chipmunks, not to mention numerous birds and butterflies! The model train is great to watch as well. Fantastic place to go for photos -if you want to get a professional photo session done, you are going to get some amazing shots here!
Beautiful! Easy parking. My granddaughter loves the trains and we love exploring. Very nice paths. All the benches are nice for taking breaks and also for soaking in the beauty.
Beautiful place to visit. This is a place for all ages. It's a easy walk and has a lovely collection on trees, plants and flowers.
Hanging out in the treetops and listening to the creatures all around. Such a phenomenal experience. Definitely worth a visit.
Love it, love it! Close by, always changing and something for everyone. Trees are incredible and the wooden train world of Philadelphia is amazing for all ages. Be sure to take the family to the holiday display!
The Morris Arboretum is absolutely beautiful. I would be more than happy to get lost in there! The Rose Garden specifically has some breath-taking views - I definitely suggest bringing along a camera to capture your visit. Visiting in the summer isn't too bad at all - the trees offer great cover so you can get a break from the sun if you need to. Definitely worth a trip!
Fun visit for all ages! Clean environment! It looks like so much work was done to put the railroad together. Wonderful experience!
Beautiful but very hillysome very steep. Can't avoid them. Several older people doing the hills wellmust go often.
This is a great place to spend time outdoors and explore. They have a wide variety of trees you don't see in the area (redwoods, katsura). We were too early to see the azaleas in bloom, but there were other flowering trees in bloom.
So pretty and so much to see! Be sure to wear comfy shoes its a huge space we walked a couple of miles.
Beautiful fall colors very close to Philly. You can spend a lot of time admiring the trees and finding your inner peace.
It s a wonderful place to spend with a family. The kids will be fascinated by the swan lake , magnificent trees and beautiful flowers.
Very nice to enjoy a stroll and natural scenery. One of our go-to relaxing spots.
Very enjoyable, explore at your own pace and don't be afraid to go off the path because there's more to see.
Really nice place with great collection of trees and other plants. Really nice during blooming season, but also great in Fall. Really relaxing experience that I plan to visit more. Clean and beautiful, looks like people spend a lot of effort caring about this place.
Absolutely beautiful grounds. We attended for the first time for a wedding, and will be back soon.
P.S. reciprocates access with Tyler Arboretum
The Arboretum is always beautiful, I've been going there since I was a kid and my family and I always find something new. Well-paved paths mixed with nature trails make for a great mix! Definitely worth the admission or membership price.
historic and educational place
promotes an understanding of the relationship between plants, people and place through programs that integrate science, art and the humanities
Very cool place. It’s absolutely beautiful and has plenty of stuff to keep young children interested and having fun. I think the trains were the most fun thing for me and the kids. It an amazing setup.
So many beautiful trees and plants. Lots of spots to sit, relax, and take it all in. My only issue is that it’s kind of expensive. I think we’d go more often if the prices were lower.
Beautiful arboretum. You'll see plenty of wild life while walking around the gorgeous grounds. Plenty of benches and paved walkways as well as grass paths. Huge sculptures and fountains. There's also a swan pond which is picturesque. When you're tired of walking stop by there cafe and grab a bite to eat.
Awesome place! We came for the Christmas train set up. Recommend
Morris Arboretum is a lovely place to visit when in Chestnut Hill. The parklands are well laid out with many established trees, good paths and water features like the Swan Pool (with its resident pair of mute swans). There's also abundant wildlife including groundhogs and chipmunks not to mention the many birds here. There are also wilder area and wetlands to explore as well as the garden railway.
Beautiful gardens and grounds... great place for the kids. We saw a lot of wild life like chipmunks, bunnies and birds. The kids scavenger hunt was great fun!
Wonderful time, bring friends and family. Amazing trees, flowers, garden, streams and much more. Such a beautiful place.
So much to see... beautiful place to visit. Clean, quite...hard to believe it's so close to Philadelphia and Plymouth Meeting. Highly recommend!
What an amazing arboretum with a huge space, lots to see.
I went with my daughter and grandkids and we had a amazing time it is beautiful there. Great exercise.
Great place for a nice walk with the family. Parking is outside on the street, during the weekend may be hard to find parking.
A beautiful and serene place to visit year round but particularly in the spring, summer and fall!
Its gorgeous here! You can stroll around and take in all the beautiful views or even attend or host an event there!
This place is beautiful! I had learned about it through a friend who saw a picture of it. I came in not knowing what to expect and it was so nice. There are many different components to it so there are trains for the kids and a rose garden to walk around and other parts that are fun and beautiful. I'd reccomend a picnic on a beautiful day
Absolutely gorgeous! The 175 acres is not too big nor too small for a casual visit. Visitors will be able to find different interesting things in different seasons. The arboretum is just for everyone to enjoy.
One of my favorite places to visit. Amazing views and just so much to see. Each season offers new jewels for the eye.
So beautiful! Pack a lunch and stay all day! Wheelchair/stroller friendly, great for kids.
the kids love this place. every year when we study trees we come the scenery is breathe taking
Everyone is very friendly. Great territory and a couple of things were good for the whole family. The trains are amazing!
This was great even on a really hot day. Very enjoyable and the volunteers were all super helpful, friendly and informative.
I love how beautiful it is here, gods landscaping. I’m going to take my wife there and surprise my darling 🇨🇮🇺🇸🇦🇴🇰🇭🇵🇷 …
This is a perfect place to have a picnic or a lazy day walking around. Check out the fernery and have a walk around the log cabin and the railway park. Make sure you carry water and a hat for a sunny day. There is a Cafe but its not always open. Also, free entry with a penncard.
Full of rich experiences for adults and kids.
This is a truly wonderful place. Very good energy there. One of my favorite places in Philly.
It's a beautiful place to walk. They have so many beautiful gardens and places to stop and admire God creations
Beautiful place to visit. My family loved it. Looking forward to returning.
Great place, packed with horticultural goodies and fantastic garden train setup. Spouse said its the best he's ever seen.
The rose garden in the summer is truly SPECTACULAR. The treehouse walkways will entertain the most rambunctious kids for at least an hour! Even in spring before the roses bloom, the pathways are wonderful and full of plants and flowers. Don't miss the hothouse full of ferns and a babbling brook
Great place for a field trip! Staff are all sweet and knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
Our family has been visiting Morris arboretum for many years. If you are going to visit several times, a membership is your best bet. There's something blooming almost every month of the year. It's a great place for a walk and to enjoy nature. It's a photographer's delight or find a quiet spot to meditate or write.
It has a lot to offer for the family! Relax and enjoy the garden railway even over Xmas! You can
take a stroller! Take snacks & drink. Kids will enjoy the egg nest! Wheelchair accessible!
Free parking, $20 Adults advance tickets About 2-3 hours
Such a wonderful place to experience especially during the holidays!
So beautiful so well kept such a wonderful place to visit!!! Will totally need to go back!
With good weather, divine. Beautiful gardens; open spaces; plenty of rest areas; spacious, immaculate rest rooms; and fantastic electric model train set-ups. Will revisit often.
Beautiful, peaceful, clean, well taking care of land.
We will be back!!!!
Beautiful place to bring your family. Loved Patrick Daugherty's sculpture.
Beautiful setting!
I wish I had more time to see the place. Great walk way above the ground in one spot.
Tulips are blooming right now. LOVE.
An amazing and special spot. Great with kids…
Very beautiful place to visit. Just wear some comfortable walking shoes.
A great place to unwind from Technology and take in nature. Perfect for children to explore and enjoy a natural environment.
Beautiful place to enjoy nature. We spent a couple of hours here after lunch and enjoyed walking around. It was a little crowded but to be expected on a gorgeous day. We'll need to go back to fully enjoy the experience as we seemed to have missed some areas based on other review pictures.
Beautiful sanctuary and escape from the bustle of the city with an immaculate rose garden. They have a raised platform to experience life amidst the tall trees which was unbelievable
Very nice gardens, I like the rose garden The sculpture garden really there's nothing there one big plant, I was looking forward to the Japanese water garden but there's no water in it. But I'll probably come back it is a pleasant place to walk.
Absolutely beautiful grounds and the staff is great! Plenty of parking and a few wheelchairs available.
Beautiful and the rose garden was so peaceful. There were quite a few kid camps so be careful you dont get bumped into
We've been members for 10+ years and visit often. Beautiful in every season! A true gem in the Philadelphia area. Highly recommend checking out the (less visited?) parts on the Highland Ave side of the property such as the sculpture gardens and the grotto.
Extremely beautiful! Went there with a 7 year old who loved it. Very green, huge place. Can easily spend the whole day there. Lovely sculptures of the wonders of the world, all made with natural materials. Will definitely be going there several times again:)
Great place for a long walk. The trees and flowers offer scenic views just about every step of the way.
Great place for a wedding, but also a great place to bring your kids for some nature fun.
Roses are in bloom. Beautiful. We love this place.
Beautiful. Surrounded my nature in the city.
Just lovely! A beautiful place for a walk.
My Daughter and Son in law brought me to see Christmas Train set up.It was at night so could not see the grounds. Will have to see the grounds which I was told it was beautiful.Oh back to the trains and light displays where very nicely done.My very young Granddaughter looked in awe at the lights and trains. When I comeback from Upstate Ny in the summer for vist,we'll have to drive the grounds. Nicely Done☺
Love Morris Arboretum
Just went for our 3rd visit!
The gardens are spectacular and who doesn't love trains😊 …
Had an outdoor walk in the winter with my mom and aunt. When it seemed my mom needed some help (she developed pain while walking), the staff was very friendly and was happy to help her by offering a ride in the gardening golf cart. All the staff are very nice. The walk was beautiful with so much land around and varied views from each direction. Store and visitor center not open due to pandemic, but peeked inside fern house, looks really nice inside.
Best secret park system in the Flourtown region. Huge walking space that's open year round, safe, and beautiful. Perfect for the kids, and it even has a small café open during the warmer months. The annual membership was wortg every penny
Vast and beautiful gardens of all different types. Hours of enjoyment as you wind through intricately thought out scenes of natural beauty. Food on premises but packing a picnic lunch and finding your own private shaded space is enjoyable to. I would suggest spending the day to anyone that loves nature Beauty and Gardens
In April, I spent some time at the Arboretum taking photos of Lyman Whitaker's sculptures, which I found to be absolutely fascinating. The attached photo is a composite of four different photos from various angles and spinning at different speeds. These photos are blended with a number of backgrounds, textures, filters, and blend modes. I call it "Spinner in the Wind".
After Labor Day, the crowds are gone and it's a very peaceful place.
My grandchildren love it. Nice place to enjoy what God gave us
I'm a photogrpher so I love this place, the different areas where you can take pictures. It's a fee to get in but it's worth it. Super welcoming, even kids come and some were riding bikes. I love it here
Drove in from over an hour away just to come here. Totally worth it. Despite being “in Philadelphia” it feels like it’s in a totally different universe. It was truly relaxing and incredible to walk through these well maintained grounds. I love going to gardens and arboretums, and this one was definitely in the top percentile. Highly recommended for all ages!
Beautiful grounds with interesting displays. The willows are spectacular.
Went to a wedding in the Rose Garden it was beautiful very nice place would like to go back on my own
Beautiful. Recommend going on a weekday when there's minimum foot traffic.
It's beautiful, no doubt. Your experience will vary depending on the time of year, but there is a lot to see. We went in mid-May - the roses weren't out yet but plenty of Spring flowers still were. You may want to check their website to see what's blooming. Out on a Limb is perfect for kids.
Played a wedding here. Beautiful site. The sculpture gave us a lot to discuss on our break...is it a clock? A hungry bird?
What a fantastic place. This is my first time coming to the Arboretum and it was well worth the trip. A great place for anyone who loves outdoor activities. Plenty to see and explore with information on every plant species they have along with details on how they got the plant. Amazingly well kept and a friendly staff greet you up front. Absolutely worth the the $20 for the entire place.
I absolutely love this place!! So serene and beautiful!! Definitely a spot that I don’t mind escaping to from time to time!
Fantastic place to relax and experience nature. Stroller friendly and great for kids of all ages. Their memberships are reasonable and their staff is extremely friendly.
My husband suprised me with a small drive and walk and this is where we ended up🌹🌾🌺🍃💏 …
A lovely way to spend the afternoon. Bring a picnic basket.
Awesome Event and the grounds were beautiful ❤️🤗💐 …
Beautiful and well maintained grounds to explore and have a picnic. The rose gardens is a must-see attraction. The only detractor for me is a lack of an indoor attraction that many other mid to high end arboretum have on their grounds. Winter visits would be more worthwhile if they had such an attraction.
One of the best places in Philadelphia to spend an afternoon. It’s an especially underrated place to go with younger kids. Lots of room to run around, cool plants to look at, and a bunch of areas that kids love - an extensive model train path through miniature historic sites, a log cabin where you can play Lincoln Logs, a maze like sculpture out of tree branches, and a walkway/replica birds nest/netting area 40 ft above the ground. An arboretum may sound boring and snooty but it’s really not.
This is a great place for a nice afternoon stroll. Lots to look at and occasional activities. I do like when they have special exhibits.
This place is definitely a hidden gem of the Philly area.
A beautiful place with amazing scenery! Well worth a visit and I would definitely recommend as a wedding venue! They keep it very interesting with different pockets to the arboretum. Rose gardens and toy trains rolling through trees. Sculptures and season themed décor. Check it out.
Great place to learn about trees in a beautiful landscape
Beautiful campus with lovely sculptures and tree houses. One of our favorite places to walk.
WOW! This is the best train display available. Going during the weekday holiday, we really beat the crowds. Held the attention of the grandchildren well beyond the calling of a hot chocolate.
Very nice place, we usually go with guest passes but have done maternity photos and they have a train exhibit during Christmas that my toddler LOVED
Holiday trains are our favorite. Treehouse, Swan Pond, and the Bronze Bell are other must-sees
Beautiful relaxing place. The trails are clean & there is something to look at everywhere you look. Some of the trees are so unique in shape & very old. They had a scarecrow walk while I was there & it was cute. Looking forward to going again.
Love that they posted infographics around the property to educate the visitors on the surrounding foliage and ecosystem. Most of the trees are tagged in case you want to find out what species they are! Definetly coming back to see the park in every season
What a beatiful place. Beautiful gardens. Interesting to see more of the tree structure without leaves in the winter. Lovely views and sculptures too.
A lovely space with several different very creatively landscaped gardens! We were a bit early for the rose garden but I'm sure it will be gorgeous when they are blooming. The gift shop was small but boasted a great selection. The only thing I'd say is many of the gardens weren't very well weeded, but with the extent of the grounds this is fair enough!
Stepping past the cheerful and helpful receptionists at the gift shop, you enter into a rich and fantastic world, like stepping into a story book! The perfect setting for my good friend's wedding. Very professional arrangements and services throughout the entire reception as well.
Friend had a wedding here and despite the rain, it was a lovely time. Cute and rustic. The property is beautiful!
Beautiful surroundings, peaceful, and a great day with the grandkids!
The Morris Arboretum was lovely as usual. They had a tent sale and we were able to get lots of nice little things for our grandchildren and ourselves. It was also member plant giveaway day so we were able to make a nice choice to add to our garden at home. Masks are required. There were stations for hand sanitizer. Everyone was social distancing and it was a beautiful morning to visit. Can't wait for the scarecrow contest!
Not fully in bloom at this time but overall great experience. Fun to explore.
Awesome Arboretum. Great place for family, meditation and relaxation.
Great outdoor space to hike around and enjoy the outside. Trees and flowers with a nice path to walk and enjoy everything. Cherry blossoms were neat to see but it was a little early in the season to see much else. If you park in the lower parking section there is a shuttle up the hill or for the strong legged a walk up there big hill is rewarding.
One of those places you are surprised to find within a bigger city. It is quite large and you are able to feel pretty removed from the city itself while there. It is also fairly large, letting you split up your time exploring if you want and still be able to take a good amount of time there. The model train setup outside is very impressive and would wow any kid (or adult for that matter) interested in trains. They also have a great rose garden, but I'm not sure just how long those will keep blooming through the summer. This place is also right next to a huge park with lots of trails that is worth checking out - Wissahickon park.
This place is truly magical!
Great place 👌 …
Had a wonderful day with the whole family!
There was not much to do or see nut there was good picture spots
Absolutely beautiful, so many hidden treasures. Love it and want to come back!!
Really enjoy it here. Very relaxing. Nice for whole family or just a couple's days out. Kids will like the big hammock area, for lack of a better description, and toy train displays. Check for the latter to make sure they're running as they aren't always, which is a shame as it's the highlight for kids...and maybe for many adults too.
Absolutely gorgeous HUGE arboretum. Perfect spot for young families! My 3 yo and 1 yo LOVE it.
Fun for kids and adults. Nice day trip. Limited food options on days they're hosting events.
A special place! Do yoga Tuesday nights!
Awesome place to walk with kids
Flowers and tree lovers, this is haven for you guys.
We had our first visit to Morris Arboretum just two weeks ago and it was BEAUTIFUL!! My kids were excited to be outside and enjoying the sunshine in spite of COVID. We brought a blanket and a basket of goodies and had a lovely lunch in the lawn. We've definitely got to go again.
Really pleasant surprise. Went specifically to see garden railway, which is awesome, but also walked grounds. Filled with all types of sculptures, tree "house", and lovely walkways. Need to return in spring/summer to get full floral and tree effect.
Absolutely loved the Arboretum. The trails are all lovely. I especially loved the different gardens and incorporated art that one can explore throughout their journey.
They offer food and beverages from their Cafe.
I recommend their water bottle (you can refill along the trails) with their fig& Brie panini.
Thank you for a peacefully educational experience.
Great for kids! Swings, miniature trains, treehouse and scultures were a hit!
Such a amazing place. Great place to walk around and escape the world. Such a collection of different displays. Amazing Gardens but my favorite part was the outdoor model railroad.
Our family really enjoyed our day at the arboretum. The flowers and trees were beautiful, and you get to see a small amount of wildlife. Lot's of open green space to enjoy, walk around. Next time I may bring a book and just enjoy the fresh air and quiet.
There are so many trails, and they are clearly marked. The main trails are pages, so it's easy for all ages and abilities to get around. My kids have fun at all the different little destinations around the property. The train garden is a must-see for kids. The staff is friendly and helpful.
I love coming here. Very beautiful and well kept. They have all types of flowers and trees. You can spend the whole day walking through the place. It does have small ponds and little bridges. You also can see animals here. What i really enjoy about this place is the peace and quiet. You can sit on a bench , lay on the grass see different species of birds. It's a joy coming here. The fresh air , the smell of the flowers and the natural beauty makes you want to come back as often as possible.
Loved it, awesome place to be surrounded by flora.
Beautiful picturesque garden to spend some quality time !!
I have visited couple of times with family and friends. It's beautiful quite and serene environment never fail to amaze me. The train layout in summer gives the curious minds of kids a run through the time.
Be ready to spend couple of hours in various sections like rose garden , sculpture and fountain. It is worth the money !!!
Great place to get outdoors during Covid, beautiful even in the winter without many leaves! Quite a location for weddings, definitely gets booked out quickly for the full wedding! Advance tickets are required currently even for members. Penn card holders get in for free. Check their website for purchasing tickets!
We just had our wedding here 10/16/20 and it was stunning. The gardens were so lovely, the staff was so easy to work with. Highly recommend if you're thinking about a garden wedding!
Serene oasis in a busy city. We attended a lovely wedding and reception.
Amazing place with beautiful vistas and incredibly well-kept plants. Definitely worth spending an afternoon here and enjoying the flowers. I'm looking forward to going back when different ones are in bloom.
Very easy and beautiful to take a walk. However, two things were to cut a star from the 5 star rating.
1. Its cafe was disappointing. Its atmosphere and decoration was shockingly poor. I expected some kind of cozy cafe to relax, but...
2. There were many kids from schools field trip. I wish the kids did not shout nor scream. While I was there especially in the morning, every place in the garden was endless full of loud screams which distract the beauty of nature and air from calm and relax. I don't mind they run and play in the beautiful nature; however they should learn how to behave in the public place. It would be great if Morris Arboretum consider educating or noticing visitors no shout no scream.
Beautiful place, green, sunny and peaceful
Pretty, clean, enjoyable for both kids and adults. My toddler loves the trains as I love the trail to walk around. The rose garden is also very pretty. Always an enjoyable time.
We visited with young children, and it was magical. An elevated boardwalk in the canopy of mature hardwoods, an impossible woven willow sculpture to explore, a summer fernery, and beautiful stone walks lined with old trees made this an arboretum to remember. The large grounds hold many other features... Too many to list!
Breathtakingly beautiful, there are no words😶 …
A great experience. Loved the various trees especially. The trains were a really cool touch. We're actually going back with 2 others next weekend.
Great place to visit when you need a place to stroll around in greenery
Beautiful place to spend the day or part of the day.
Beautiful place so much to see and do my first time there but my daughter in law and grandson go quite frequently if you have small children it's a must don't overlook the trains
We came here for a wedding and it was a gorgeous venue. There were so many places to take pictures (for the wedding party) and there was a really cool tree top lounge that you should definitely check out. Very beautiful place, and educational!
I was here for a wedding. The grounds were spectacular! Even the buildings, roadways and walkways were well-maintained and cool. I was not impressed with the catering company though. I've been a wedding videographer for 30 years, so I've got a bit of experience when it comes to wedding catering. These folks were dropping the ball at every turn.
I look forward to returning here to explore more of the beautiful landscape. However, hopefully not to go and attend, as a guest, another wedding.
The plant sale had some great plants and was staffed by very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful people. Walking around the gardens afterwards was a lovely end to the day. Very tranquil and relaxing with some interesting plants on display. Looking forward to going again next year.
This is a real paradise just outside of the city limit of Philadelphia! 😍🌞😇😻😊👍 …
I was there for a memorial service. I thought it was perfect. I need to go back a walk the whole property in another day, without the rain .. :)
Well worth a visit. A wonderful place to walk and enjoy what nature has to offer.
Beautiful trees, well kept. Easy for families. Lots pf different trails even off thr main paved trail. I would highly recommend for anyone with young kids also. Day lasses are expensive, but if you live in the area, yearly memberships make it very cheap even if you go once or twice a month. I would highly recommend
I can’t even express how great this venue was in words. They went above and beyond their standards, and the place is beautiful!
After Christmas in the winter is probably NOT the time to visit; cold and not much in season other than the fernery.
From walking the grounds in winter I can imagine spring will bring the place to life again.
Great train display for Christmas! Definitely recommend it.
I think it's a beautiful arboretum; however, there was also posses of little bridal rental groups moving around that would go into certain locations and not leave some sort of sign that the area was closed for touring. It's kind of annoying to move into an area where there's a large group of people only to be given dirty looks and shooed away when you also paid to visit. Otherwise gorgeous and a really nice walk.
Beautiful gardens. Relaxing place to take a walk, have a picnic and spend some free time. All year round; Flowers in the spring and summer, beautiful leaves in the fall, and holiday lights in the winter. Well worth the membership as it pays for itself if you go a few times a year. (And its tax deductible!)
Great family activity, or a place to escape for some peace by yourself. The grounds are well maintained, amazing array of plants/trees, fountains, seasonal events. Price is reasonable, but if you're going more than once or twice a year, just get a membership.
Had a really nice afternoon there with my lovely girlfriend. Beautiful setting with diverse flora as you would expect. I look forward to returning and spending more time there to learn more about some of the trees and plants on display. Also some interesting kinetic art/sculpture on display which we really appreciated. Overall it comes highly recommended from us.
Went there a few weeks ago and while it was incredibly hot outside we had a lovely time. It was beautiful and we'll maintained. Some of the places are not the most accessible but we made do.
Loved loved loved. So beautiful. Not expensive at all. Loooved the green house area. I went around the fall time and of course some flowers were missing, but the grounds were still immaculate. I could tell it wasnt their busy season because of how little people were there, but their high season has a bunch of cool things like the mini train railroad for kids and families. The swan pond was super cute. had a lot of fun there.
A beautiful place to spend a few hours outside with kids. The staff were friendly, bathrooms were well-maintained, most guests were wearing masks. Overall a great place to frolic outside.
Every visit there is something new to see. The trains are one of the fun stops. Love the rose garden. Take a tour on your first visit to get the lay of the grounds. So many private hideaways with great views.
Incredible and beautiful in any season. You have to visit a few times to really explore everything this place has to offer. Great for nature lovers, gardeners, and fun family or romantic walks. They also have a lot of educational programs and summer camps!
The Thomas the Train exhibit was the highlight of my two year olds week. The food was far above my expectations. I believe this place is peanut free so that's a nice thing for the parents of kids with allergies to know. A nice place to stroll around for the afternoon. Very well kept and clean. Q
Great place to spend the afternoon
Absolutely gorgeous arboretum. Enjoy a walk with the butterflies, check out the model train section, it will make you feel like a child again! Wonderful gardens.
Lots of Japanese maples. Shade was WONDERFUL... 89°
One of my favorite botanical gardens in the area. The Morris Arboretum has an excellent variety of temperate plants from all around the world, and it's beautiful in every season. It's lots of fun to visit throughout the year and see the differences.
What an amazing place! Amazingly beautiful open green space so close to the city. Great for all ages - we bring our young kids often. My sister was married here. This is one of those you don't want to miss!
Great place to walk and enjoy nature. The gardens are breathtaking. My grandchildren absolutely love the birds nest, playing in the nets attached to the trees, and looking through the binoculars. Another favorite is the scavenger hunt.💝 …
Neat Christmas outing. Would have expected more decorations in the place, but the train area was awesome. It was not too crowded as you get time tickets to keep the crowds down. Gift shop and cafe are small. Hot Chocolate was terrible! Bring your own!
The beautifully laid out gardens is a perfect destination for a quiet stroll or bird watching. I love the always changing flora. A very sweet gift shop too. Consider a membership, you will want to return...again and again!
Great please to keep in touch with nature, open fields, rolling hills, old forests, etc. The trails are accessible and paved. They have a great outdoor model train exhibit.
Beautiful grounds to walk through on a spring day. The rose garden was our favorite.
Surprised at how nice and refreshing the atmosphere was since I had heard of the place but never visited. Bathrooms were clean and almost made one forget they were outside restrooms.
Beautifully landscaped gardens. Several miles of easy walking.
Free for children. At first $16/adult seemed high but after visiting the many gardens, sculptures, buildings and special exhibits (model train landscape & artist bird house creations), it was worth it.
Straddling the Philadelphia city line you could easily mistake this place for the English country side. Numerous trails wind through a landscaped series of gardens from formal to eclectic. Modern art pops up all over the place to keep you guessing. A tree top walkway complete with nets you can lay in tops off this amazing hidden gem. Summer 2020 the restaurant / cafe is closed but there are vending machines & restrooms.
Beautiful place, well maintained. Lovely landscapes. However nothing much for small childrens to do, only net playing area which is not at all enough to keep toddlers or young kids busy. No play area. Even cafe closed at 2.30pm on weekends.
Visited today at near perfect temps in mid 70s. Gardens are beautiful. Champion trees were amazing. The outdoor train garden was very well done. Quite enjoyable overall.
Very well kept grounds, good for a nice walk to see the flowers and sculptures or to bring kids for the educational elements. Cafe food was surprisingly good, esspecially the waffle fries, but all the condiments did come in packets. Suggested you bring your own water bottle, there are fountains near the bathrooms.
As a photographer, you get lucky when your clients pick a location like this one to get married. So many beautiful spots. The Rose garden and the Fernery (Greenhouse) are magical. The wedding is in a few weeks and I cannot wait to photograph it.
Beautiful. Walk in the park area, look at trees, eat there (seasonal), play in the water, art exhibits. Great for a stroll, or day with the family. The model trains are really fun in the winter with the kids.
Beautiful and lovingly maintained. Lots of different fun areas to explore. Kids especially liked the Tree Top and parents liked the many fountains. Friendly staff.
We had a great day out with family!
Had the best time here! The grounds are absolutely beautiful-so much to see I could have stayed the entire day! Scarecrow display was perfect for a 4 year old. Will definitely be back!
Great place to spend time with family.
Wonderful nature walk. The trains weren't on but they will be. Very accommodating for people who need wheelchairs, I highly recommend this place
Really great place. I'm a member of Longwood Gardens and Winterthur, and if I lived near here I'd join Morris Arboretum. Lovely formal gardens as well as informal ones, natural settings, wide variety of flora, and plenty of walking paths (mostly paved), Lots of things to interest small children, too. I'll be back.
Wonderful place to walk and relax edith sculptures and fountains as well add interesting plants and trees. Beautiful flower displays.
It's so beautiful! And time just melts away. I spent about 2.5 hours there with kids and we still could have explored a lot more.
It is a very nice arboretum run by the University of Penn students. I'm a member, so I have been there many times. It has been so hot this summer that the flowers aren't as vibrant as usual, but I would not let that deter you from going. There are three bridges and outdoor trains for the kids. There is a lake with ducks and swans. Bring your walking shoes. It is a nice open area for walking.
Beautiful place, peaceful and tranquil
100% must see. I'm looking forward to coming back in the summer.
Incredible place to get out & take a walk.
Loved this place! Ask at the visitor center for the scavenger hunt sheet. I had as much fun checking for the clues as my son did (nearly eight). The train tracks, Japanese garden, and fernery were wonderful to see. Personally, this place is in my top five places to visit in Philadelphia.
Genuinely one of the best family experiences in the Philadelphia area. The grounds are very well-kept and such a joy to explore, with so much variety in flora and fauna to observe and interact with. There is a nice little cafe and a gift shop on site. The staff and volunteers are all very knowledgeable and pleasant, and more than eager to educate the visitors. Plan several hours for your visit.
Today a friend and I did an amazing photo shoot here with my acoustic guitar! The employees were ALL so kind to us, and even checked in with us to see photos and chat! (Earlier we had a negative experience at Chanticleer Garden. They did not allow us to enter simply because I had a guitar, but were rude and disrespectful towards us about it.) But it was so refreshing to know that here they are welcoming of instruments and photography! We will be tagging Morris Arboretum in our photos and coming back for other projects and enjoyment! Thank you so much for your kindness
The fernery alone is worth the trip, but we appreciated the many other areas as well. The great lawn in the English Romantic style and Japanese garden are worth the walk to further corners of the park. Concessions are nothing fancy, but reasonably priced.
I didn't get as much time as I would have liked here, but I think that will always be the case. It is a beautifully-landscaped arboretum with plenty of spots for families to explore and enjoy. I look forward to my next visit when the weather warms up!
Lovely place for a family outing.
Took our 4-yr old Granddaughter to see the Parade of Bubbles.. She loved everything she saw
Gorgeous grounds and lush gardens are just a few of the breathtaking views you'll get a glimpse of while you're here. Come early so you're able to take your time walking through and take in all the beauty.
Great outdoor space. They have a treehouse area for kids all year round. They also have a train set up in winter. There are usually various exhibits rotating through.
A really nice place that can hold large groups of people. We attended a school function and the outdoor area is beautifully maintained with trees and flowers. One of the nicest gift shops is housed here.
GORGEOUS! Attended a wedding in the garden. Cocktail hour was in the tree house, it was magical.. And the reception was amazing!
I proposed to my wife here a few years ago and we absolutely loved it! The swans were beautiful and the scenery was great! Definitely recommend!
Beautiful place to chill. Last night's sunset in the autumn tree tops was incredible!
Wonderful time. Nice open park, plenty of cool areas to check out and probably some of the nicest staff members I've ever dealt with. Great place to take the family for a walk in the park, or for a picnic.
We love the Morris Arboretum!! 💜 …
I didn't know what to expect, but I got library passes and so I took my 3 year old son to see the Thomas train! I didn't realize there was so much to do! The gardens are beautiful with lots of different flowers and fountains. The sculptures were unusual. We saw a duck family in the creek by the log cabin and some chipmunks scurrying here and there. The birds were mostly run of the mill robins. The trains were really fun. My son was thrilled to see Thomas and his friends as were a bunch of toddler and preschool boys! I appreciated the houses and buildings that made the backdrop of the trains. You can spot many replicas of historical Philadelphia buildings.
But the surprising favorite was the Out on a Limb exhibit. On one side is a lifesize robins nest with 3 robins eggs. The kids had fun climbing in here. On the other otherside are ropes to climb or relax depending on your age! It's like a giant hammock.
The food is very limited to chips, popcorn, fruit snacks, ring pops. No real food. They also have a vending machine with snacks and one for ice cream. Not the place to go if you want a meal but you can eat elsewhere. Bathrooms are few and far between, but otherwise we had a great day. I drug my child out kicking and screaming when they closed
I recently visited the Morris Arboretum with my husband and 3 year old son. I thought my son would like it but he loved it and had an absolute blast with favorites including the tree top, the model trains, the many fountains, the log cabin and the fernery. It's a very beautiful and well kept aboritum with hidden gems all around.
This place is world class, immaculate, and amazing. A must destination for Philly visitors. The trails are in excellent condition and sections have beautiful plants/flowers. The trees are cool too. It is hilly so wear good shoes.
Love visiting the Morris Arboretum. My kids love it too. Beautiful gardens and the staff is very friendly band helpful.
The grounds were sprawling and had a diverse array of plants and art to see including large sculptures and fountains. What brought us here - and was most disappointing - was the "picnic area". One of our kids wanted to have a picnic and when we saw picnic area on the list of things on the grounds we decided to check this place out. The "picnic area" is unfortunately not an area to have a sit in the grass classic picnic, but a small deck area with a few sets of patio furniture. To add to the disappointment, there were two creeps working on a shed in the area that had to be told to stop blatantly gawking (leaned way back to keep looking around a tree) at my girlfriend. Extremely disrespectful. This put a damper on the whole day. We probably won't be coming back.
One of the most beautiful places around Philadelphia. The grounds are always immaculate, and there's a balance of organized gardens and wild wetland areas. If you have kids, there are always activities and scavenger hunts. The staff are always friendly, and you always feel welcomed.
Beautiful outdoor space! Very pricy if you're bringing kids or more than just one adult, but many of the Montgomery county libraries have passes. The little greenhouse with Coi pond is lovely, if a little small (ie in really cold weather it's not worth it). The treetop walkways and giant bird's nest are great. It would definitely get five stars of it wasn't so expensive.
We continue our yearly membership here. My kids love to go and run around look at the trains and just be outside. Most of the cost for the membership is tax deductible. They always have something going on and is just a nice place to be.
Wonderful place to walk, sit and relax, and pack a lunch. My young kids enjoyed seeing the ducks, playing in the treehouse area, and walking through the beautiful gardens.
Just want you now we have a phenomenal time the children really enjoyed tree house
Urban treasure. The stick sculpture was amazing! Flowers and trees from around the world.
Great place to visit if you enjoy the outdoors and gardening
If you love trees , this is the place to be. What a great variety of trees. Very relaxing place that exceeded my expectations. Looking forward to going back soon! Very nice gardens as well.
This arboretum is beautiful! It's so serene. At one point, I found a little turtle near the end of our walk. If you enjoy arboretums, you won't want to miss this.
Longwood gardens but more family friendly. So beautiful, especially on a perfect fall day. So many little pockets of fun for kids and adults. Check your library for passes!
An amazing place. We were there for a wedding and loved what we did see. Planning on going back in the spring to explore more.
A complete surprise!
On the very edge of Philadelphia, in the suburban neighborhood of Chestnut Hill. Beautifully maintained. An outstanding spot to stroll for a while, sit for a while and resume strolling.
Hidden right smack in the middle of this sylvan oasis is a real-looking, not so miniature railroad, complete with tooting and bell ringing railroad engines.
Bottom line: a visit to this green oasis will delight old and young.
This is a great way to spend a few hours on a nice day. Spring through fall, there is always something in bloom and beautiful sculpture and interesting activity
Love the landscape and it's quiant and remote location. The arboretum has many informative features and marker that make learninf fun and easy. Great for kids and adults! Proxcimity to the city makes it worth the drive
Beautiful. Well maintained. Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful volunteers who generous inform visitors about its very interesting history
The arboretum has many different varieties of beautiful trees and plants, varying from roses to redwood trees. Sculptures adorn the grounds, and there are a few hidden walking/hiking trails. They even have an exhibit set up in the trees.
Nice atmosphere. Great location for date/couples and families. The only reason astar was deducted was because $20 is a little steep per adult. I'm all this place was beautiful.
Love, love love Morris Arboretum. Great place for a walk! Grandkids like it here as well. Lots for them to explore, play, run. Each season is like a new park.
Lovely gardens, I don't really see why the fernery is closed to public during Covid, you could at least not rope off the whole outside so you can try to see in.
Great for kids, the climbing net and model train display are wonderful.
One of our favorite places to go, it's beautiful
Absolutely beautiful! Definitely a must see for families or to just take a walk among stunning trees and flowers! Love the swan lake too :)
Beautiful arboretum! I love the swings attraction throughout.
This place is amazing. Great for kids and a picnic.
Certainly a beautiful place, immaculately maintained by Penn. The only unfortunate thing, in my opinion, is a shortage of identifying signage. The trees themselves are glorious, and varied, and I would so like to have learned more about them!
Great place to experience nature and do an easy hike. A little pricey but free for anyone with a PennCard and $10 for other students with ID. Don't miss the canopy and the train exhibit!
Beautiful English gardens and private walks as if you were way out in the country. Best of Philadelphia treasures. Thank you John Morris!
A cute botanical garden, with a rose garden, a greenhouse, area for kids to play. Also looks like a cute place to throw a reception. Free for UPenn card holders, there's a diacount fir other students, and 19$ for adults.
My husband proposed here so these gardens will always hold a special place in our hearts! Gorgeous grounds and very well kept. Highly recommend!
Holiday garden railway was excellent yet again!
we came from ny to visit this place and we don't regret at all, from the entrance nice and polite lady welcomed us, it was really good experience very beautiful place. thank you to the workers there for taking care of the place and keeping that place nice and clean.
Love this tucked away gem in Philly! Small but amazingly laid out, feels like an escape to a magical garden. Great for all age kiddos, get that energy out and be somewhere beautiful, win win
This place is beautiful with a number of fin experiences. I think my favorite was the canopy net where you are about 30' in the air and can look straight down.
We got married at Morris Arboretum this past April. Everything was absolutely beautiful like I had imagined for my dream wedding. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because they are a bit difficult to work with...
We had a great time here today! Very well maintained and so much to see! Whoever is in charge of the plants is amazing !!
Just discovered their cold brew coffee. So good!
How do you go from $9 for kids to almost double that per adult?! Its nowhere near as big or nice as longwood gardens just more expensive. Might be a nice place to hold a wedding reception but not just to take a walk.
Beautiful Arboretum! I went recently on a picnic. So, I brought my own food and loved the gardens. Go and try it!
Beautiful place, stroller friendly with lots of little nooks and crannies for the big kids to explore.
Beautiful gardens, I've been going since I was young and they always find a way to keep it exciting and fresh each visit. I highly recommend
This is a beautiful place that is beautifully maintained. My family and I love coming here all year round.
I was there for a baby shower and it was very beautiful. I would have to visit another time to give a better review
Very pleasant place on a hot day. The grounds are clean and we'll maintained. There are special things to see to keep the attention of kids and cranky adults.
5 stars is really all we need to say, go visit. 20 bucks to get in, money well spent
My 18 month old loved the trains and treetop area. Will definitely be coming back. We were able to get in free with our Tyler Arboretum membership.
My wife and I were married at the Arboretum ten years ago. It is a great reminder to simpler times and the magic of that day.
It's worth every penny on a relaxing Spring or Summer day.
Wonderful trees, grounds and garden railway. I am a member, and usually get there 6-12 times a year. Looking forward to annual scarecrow competition that starts soon.
Great Arboretum. Beautiful grounds. An area with model trains set up and running. Nice walkways and handicap accessible areas. Gift shop and cafe. Plenty of parking.
We loved our trip to Morris. The model train display is amazing. The design and installation are brilliant
Beautiful place but we are always in a wrong time.
Just simply natures beauty. The staff is friendly, confident, helpful and knowledgeable. I can't wait to see it in the spring when my son gets married in April.
Love walking through the gardens and visiting the “Fernery.” Not as formal or large as Longwood Gardens, but every bit as enjoying, and they have never been crowded.
Love the trains. It's better in spring and summer but still worth a visit.
Wonderful place for a walk. Went to see where Christmas railway, but they don't rub in the rain. I've been a few times and I'm still finding new things and enjoy the changing exhibits
Love this place. Check your local library for free passes.
Very beautiful and relaxing!
Beautiful and historic. The developments of the last 25 years make it even better. Love the garden train and "out on a limb" experience. Great for the whole family.
Beautiful Arboretum loved the gazebo in the rose garden
This place was recommended to me with such sincerity that I decided to visit. It truly is amazing and is worth "walking the distance". Do not judge by the photos. They are nice but do not represent half the beauty of the site.
Gorgeous - and with ponds, the treewalk, nest and cabin, fun and engaging for children. I look forward to taking the family back for the holiday train display!
We are members for many years, such a beautiful place. Great for kids to play and run. High, but reasonable price for admission. Also, special events, such as plant sales.
The gardens are always changing not just with nature's seasons but with new plantings and themes. I go often and find something new every time. It's a great place to recommend to visitors to Philadelphia.
This was absolutely beautiful. We mainly stopped for the 'out on a limb' exhibit, but loved the whole thing. It was extremely hot the day we visited, but it was worth it.
We love the Arboretum! It's beautiful kept and peaceful. You have to visit the swan sisters.
Beautiful gardens. It's a very peaceful and enjoyable walk through the gardens and in the wooded areas
Morris is such a beautiful and tranquil garden. Great walking exercise. Plenty of shady areas to relax. Plus a creek and a pond with ducks and swans and fountains.
