Reviews of Bok
Carena Peters
Absolutely get married here!!!! When my now husband and I first went to Bok bar back in 2017, we knew instantly we wanted to get married here when the time came. Like many couples, we eloped in a private ceremony and Bok was able to accommodate us on our original wedding date on their rooftop in 2021.
We re-tied the knot with all of our closest friends and family April 30, 2022! We had the most incredible and perfect night outdoors on Bok's rooftop all night long.
The Bok team are seriously an absolute gem to work with and can take full responsibility for why the flow of the day worked out the way it did alongside our planners Clover Event Co. We wanted to thank Elise Miller for taking the time to get to know Kevin and I because I felt like she really understood our vision as a couple. It all worked out better than what we could have imagined. Our groom's and bridal parties both got ready in our own dedicated suites and it was seriously such a blast.
Bok is full of incredible places to shoot inside and outside of the property. They've really done an incredible job preserving the building in a way that has us all longing to spend as much time here as humanly possible. You cannot get a better view of the skyline anywhere else. Bok has an incredible place in our hearts.
Brett Skipper
Beautiful old theater. We attended for one of the Philly candlelit concerts. The acoustics were great, the candles were a nice touch, it was a great event! One note. The seats are wooden and aren't padded. Didn't bother us but it's worth knowing.
Michael Millemann
Wow what a spot! Apparently this placed had been closed for a while, but my girlfriend heard through the grapevine that Bok is a hidden gem and will be busy when it re-opens, and boy was she right!
One of the best views of the city are available at this bar. Food was honestly pretty good too! Only thing they're missing is a TV. I would definitely return here.
Arusha Acharyya
Great view from the rooftop. The ambience was also nice. Went during the sunset, the vibe was great.
Wasn't quite impressed by the food and drinks though. Had garlic truffle fries which were good. The dry rub wings were not at all good. The grown up smores was also okayish. For the cocktail drinks we had over the top and sunset both of which were average.
Natalia Aponte Borges
This place is like Disney for people who love local art, cute cafés, and a wide variety of small creative businesses. The 30’s architecture is amazing, it’s a repurposed old school and used in the best way imo. My faves are the rooftop bar, the bike shop, coffee, and mural arts!
Austin Graff
South Philly's BOK combines everything I love about travel into one- history, food and architecture. Located inside an FDR-era 1936 school building is a community of artists, makers, restaurateurs and business owners, half of whom are women.
After enjoying a sesame bagel with blueberry compote at nearby Korshak, I wandered over to BOK for a coffee at Two Persons Coffee, an independent cafe inside BOK. To my surprise, I wandered through the giant old school finding shops of pottery, art, etc. and the offices of small business owners.
Additionally, there's a rooftop bar with a stunning view of Philly, a restaurant and Machine Shop, a woman-owned bakery worth your time.
Paul Aulridge Jr
Bok has new chefs every single month, and every month it seems they knock it out of the park. A beautiful view of a beautiful city, and delicious food and drink? C'mon now folks, it doesn't get better than this.
Leena Agyapong
Neat building with historical presence in the neighborhood. The view from the rooftop never gets old and there are a surplus of businesses to shop from and support.
K. Ray
Randomly came across this old school that transformed into housing several small businesses. Love the idea of restoring the old and making it into something new. Had some tea and expresso with a friend and enjoyed the space.
Scott Anger
The views here are amazing. The food at Irwin's is also killer in both presentation and flavor. Go there now!
Christopher Waters
What a cool spot! You can see the whole city from up here. Drinks were good. Food was ok. We just got some wings and fries.
Jonathan Gomez (Johnny Vegas)
So rooftop bar hopping from city to city is sort of my thing, and I must say: This is up there with some of the most impressive Rooftop Bars I’ve come across. Some places say they have City Skyline views but end up having a mediocre shot of a couple buildings and roofs. THIS place however, one of the most amazing full city skyline shots you’ll ever see of any city.
Cool vibes, with dope service. This is a must is you’re ever In Philly! Just wish I coulda stayed later into the evening to see the sunset, but I had a catch a flight 😅
Ricky C
My Wife and I had the opportunity to attend the Candlelight Rock Classics on Strings with Grounded Aerial. We had a wonderful time. The Music was excellent, Grounded Aerial was a nice addition to the music. They do need a little more practice and a bit more choreography than just spinning for one song. Otherwise a wonderful night. Parking is a challenge, so come early. This is in the city on one way streets in front of homes. We found parking and had no issue.
Tracee King
A bit underwhelming. Does have the potential to be more. Drink menu was small, more dinner options would be best. Food advertised on the website for that week wasn't even available. Great views though!
Erica Metzger
Super cool spot. It's a collective of artists with a Cafe, restaurant, and apparently a rooftop bar. Each artist area posts their own hours but we're generally open later week days and weekends.
I didn't realize I could just walk in and look around at the shops or grab some food. I thought maybe membership was required but it seems as though Bok and the vendors are open to the public on all floors during regular business hours. I'm excited to go back for a weekend event!
Chelsea Hart
This is such a great and unique space in South Philly. Outside there's a dog area, playground, free library, and community fridge and pantry. Inside are so many cool businesses, artists, restaurants, and the bar has a phenomenal view. Every time I go I see something new I want to check out. Highly recommend!!
Emily Hromada
Bok is such a cool and interesting place. The architecture is really cool and the vibes of the old school are so awesome. I haven't been able to come and see all of the artists studios but the concept is amazing.
Rose E. Mazurek
Amazing atmosphere but lame drink offerings. I think it has something to do with the liquor laws . As someone who tries to stay away from sugar while drinking this definitely affects the experience. That being said I still love coming here on a nice evening !
Mark Kline
We made the reservation two weeks in advance. Day of we received an abundance of text messages confirming our arrival. We arrived on time and we’re then made to wait 30 minutes for our table. The food and the service was ok. For the $ I would expect better. The view is great.
Jason Adams
Definitely an older building that needs some work, but they are slowly breathing life into it. I love seeing old buildings be repurposed. There are some really great shops on the first floor.
Jason Evans
Omg. The view here is amazing!!! But that's not all!
The staff and service here is fabulous!!!
Kristian was our server and he made excellent recommendations on what to have. He was super nice and adorable.
I will be back soon!
John Schafer
Bok building is an old school, being repurposed. Wandered through and found a nonprofit that is recycling glass in the basement, turning it into glassware, as well as ultra soft sand. Found several arts rooms, as well as one shop that is showing off plants. Favorite part though had to be the Bok bar on the rooftop. It's 8 floors high, and for the neighborhood it is in, that means unobstructed views of downtown Philly. Really cool environment on the rooftop. Would encourage people to go for the whole building, but make sure to catch the views from the rooftop bar.
Joe Lizik
Great view of the city and a nice place to enjoy a drink outside. Have two outside bars and plenty of space to hangout with friends. Not a lot of sitting space but there are high tops and counter spaces all around.
Barb Hauck-Mah (barbhmphilly)
Philly technical high school transformed into makerspaces community with creative start-ups and good BBQ at the Smokehouse. The rooftop bar with skyline views is the big draw. Come instead for the Wednesday studio tours at 5pm and other special events. Highlights: huge flaky croissants at Machine Shop Boulangerie, kids' creative workshops at Art Sphere, Mr. Jacobi's instrument repair shop, and remnants from Bok shop classes like the Safety Rules sign.
Sophie Hunter
I graduated from Bok. I am glad the person who brought the building really had the vision to turn it into something great! There are 250 businesses there and a wellness center.
Because Bok meant so much to so many, she gives an alumni celebration for all the classes every year! Thank you for keeping our school open for so many to share!!😊
Mikaela E
Wow! This place was our first stop in Philly and it just probably has the best view of the city. Drinks and food was cheap and the crowd and vibe very chill!
Laurie Bostian
What a cool space this is! I think I need to revisit once the pandemic restrictions have eased, as there were many places closed. You can't have too many artsy environments in a city to add that essential cultural enrichment! And you can't have too many parking spaces! Haha! That's the biggest downside of trying to visit Bok: finding parking! That was particularly scarce on the rainy day we drove in from Jersey to enjoy the art exhibit upstairs at Studio Incamminati. Good energy, though.
Christian Molnar
The best views of the city. The roof offers amazing sights and has a full service bar. They also offer a limited menu that features bar staples and vegetarian options. Free parking tickets a available in the parking lot across the street (after 5 pm).
Aaron Gadbury
One of the best views of the city. Mixed, yuppy crowd. Definitely won't see them at the techno show, but glad it's getting a bigger audience
Asha Advani
Fun place to enjoy the view and have a drink. The food changes every month and has generally been ok.
Harry Mirach
Seems like they made a good choice in housing an incubator for entrepreneurs there.
Anthony Salerno
I only went to 1 restaurants for lunch it was OK. Not great but okay. Miles table. I wasn't happy. Try maybe you will like it 😉 …
Holly Patterson
Bok Bar is now my favorite bar in Philadelphia! The best rooftop view of the ENTIRE city! You can see all the way from West Philly to New Jersey from their rooftop! There is no cover charge or dress code so that makes it easy for Bok Bar to amass a HUGE crowd. The bar is a rooftop of a very old school, and the rooftop is huge! They've put tables, chairs, a lounge area, subdued lighting, an observation telescope and EXCELLENT music to create the best atmosphere. The bar itself has over priced drinks with a can of IPA beer running $5.50 per beer but that's the price you pay when there's no cover charge. Fun!!!
Anthony Hunsinger
Great venue with a great view! The rotating food vendors help highlight charity groups as well.
Charlotte Buckley
I love love love the Bok bolding building!!! Between the Bok bar & Irwin's restaurant it is the trendiest loveliest place to be!!! Check out the mini series documentary about the Bok on WHYY 💕 …
Michael Kennedy
If you feel like boozing on the top of a middle school with great views this is for you! Urinals are pint size
Peach Paulison
Great drinks, great people and a fantastic view of the city.
Linda Gageant
One of my favorites. Food and staff are the best.
Brandon Luo
Rooftop bar with amazing views. Decent fries and drinks. OK service
Randolph Tang
Great rooftop bar with panoramic views of the city. Rotating bar menu. Great place to grab drinks with friends. Only one elevator to take you up to the roof, so there may be a line to go up. No stairs.
t Henry
One of my favorite places in Philly to have a drink. The view is fantastic, the atmosphere is pretty chill and the drink selection is wide.
Ruth Nyce
This is a really cool building with lots of different businesses inside. It's well kept and always aims to please.
Jonathan Cheng
Nice views. Your typical beers are $6+. Food is 10+ for basic burgers and chicken sandwiches. Great atmosphere
Jotham Sadan
Community center with charming small businesses and great food in the lobby.
Bonnie Isbey
Pleasant Visit to Clarinet Repairman - MARK JACOBI - Skilled and Professional Clarinet Repair to USA and World-Wide Orchestral and Chamber Musicians based in South Philly, PA !
Jeremy Frank PhD CADC
Everyone seems to enjoy the view the food the people are friendly non pretentious, diverse, gorgeous views, a special spot.
Lavinia Ohea
It is an amazing view!!! the food is ok.
They closed earlier though and we didn’t get any notice regarding kitchen closing or early closure.
Jenny H
Beautiful night on the rooftop here! What a view! Service was polite and attentive. We had a great seat overlooking this beautiful city. Perfect date spot. Don't expect a full dinner here, the food was mostly small bites with just 2-3 main course options, but it was all really good. I think there are rotating restaurants, so maybe it'll be more substantial at some times. Really great spot to watch the sunset. Make a reservation and you're sure to get a good table with a great view. Cocktails were delicious. Saw some small dogs up there, although I'm not sure what the policy is on bigger pups. As of June 5, masks are still required. Great experience overall, can't wait to go back!
steve styles
I thought it was cool I only wanted to jump off like 4-5 times. But I didn't want to ruin them vibe, ya know?
Scarlet Kitty
Didn't see much of the building as the Darksome Art Holiday Market was held in one large room; but the varied crafters at the event were wonderful.
Be warned that parking is only on the local streets, no nearby lots in the immediate area; no handicap parking near to the building.
M Romex (Mr Romex)
Bok was a trade school built in 1939. It is now an up and coming hipster hang out. Lots of unique shops are moving in. It has a roof top Restaurant with out door deck and great views of the city
Deven Jackson
I'm from ciocone on 20th and Moore a deliverer to bok the only thing is when I do go here I can't get in or I can't get upstairs to the 8th floor to drop off the delivery
Jordan Patterson
Great view. Good drinks. Overpriced food
Meghan Leidy
Always a really cool and unique place to go. Fun bar, good atmosphere, and a perfect spot for a wedding. I have photographed 2 weddings there now and loved it every time.
Nick Barrett
You can watch soccer games here.
L Saji
Amazing view of the city of Philadelphia. Very chill place to go with a group of friends and just have fun while enjoying the view. Would definitely recommend when in philly.
Melinda X
Visit to art show, was excellent, enjoyed myself
Jennifer
Awesome night on the rooftop with great cocktails and excellent, attentive service. Can't wait to go back! Plenty of tables but we made a reservation and were seated at a great table overlooking our beautiful city. Fantastic date spot!
Tameka Strand
I went to Bok for my birthday and had a great time. The view was amazing.
Raymond Harris
The venue is fine but parking is a nightmare..park at the school and take an uber
Nelly
I came to bok after work one day, there was plenty of parking, they check your ID then you take the elevator to the 8th floor. The views were spectacular and the vibe was so chill!!
Sandra Ramirez
Hidden gem in the city! Cool spot for drinks in an unlikely place. Also! Can’t beat the view of the Philly skyline
Peter Schwartz
It's easy to get there from either rt 95 or the Schuylkill. There at least 2 sets of elevators and stairways. Directory needs work. Security is okay. Parking (Street only) is difficult and usually marked as 2 hours only forcing you to move your car for longer appointments. It's about 7 blocks from the Broad Street line. The cafe has good coffee. I imagine that most folks go there for a specific vendor or service.
Tabby Kern
A great spot in South Philly with awesome views! Come hungry and grab some food off of the limited menu. You will be pleased.
Nicolas “Slammy” Outrey
Even if it's not located in the most sexy Philly neighborhood, Bok Bar is hands down THE rooftop. Loads of room both seating and standing, good beers choice, staff on point and delicious food.
M Sean Hall
Cool AF! The views are awesome and unique, and the place is immense! Just don't try ask Irwin's restaurant (on the other side) to check out the views from their side. Snarky hostess with an attitude loves to say 'No' to that little dream..
Just Looking
This place is a bar that has a beautiful view of Philadelphia but the beer is served in cans and you can get a plastic cup to drink it in. The food is usually prepared by other places that come in and provide the food. You can eat it in take out bowls and use plastic forks and knives. The food that was offered the day that we were there was good. I just didn't like the way everything was presented.
GÜVENİR OKCU
Different atmosphere with a nice downtown view
Malarie Perelshteyn
Great view. You definitely should make reservations. This place is all about the view. It's an old school - enter on Mifflin Street. The reason I subtracted a star is because of the plastic glasses and the food wasn't that great. I wish they set up the tables so all the seats faced the view 🤷🏻♀️ …
Crystal Cheepudom
My favorite view of the city. I never go on weekend nights. Too crowded.
LaChelle Coats
Went there for the most fantastic wedding. The space is fun with ridiculous views of the city in every direction.
Matt Johnson
Do not come here if you are looking for a cheap night out, the food and drinks are expensive because you pay for the view and the atmosphere too.
That being said, it is 100% worth it. The staff is friendly and attentive. The drinks are good. They have been very safe with COVID. And the views you will get from the rooftop day or night are unbeatable.
Giana Ramos
Surprisingly modern and urban vibe !! Food was delicious . Community welcoming
Megan Wilcox
Bok has artists studios, a bar, and work spaces. I've been to the bar on the roof a couple of times and it has a beautiful view of the skyline. I briefly saw some artists studios, they were gorgeous and you could buy items. Would love to come back just to explore the studios more.
Shobita Fernando
Beautiful Philly scapes! Very old building but the view is amazing, the patio is super spacious. Must visit when you visit Philly!
Zach Mains
Amazing views, great beer and the salmon burger is great.
Clifford Workman
Awesome view, great selection of drinks (including some nice nonalcoholic beer).
Lavonya Lewis
Hello everyone I went to have microblading done the receptionist was wonderful she made me feel very welcomed she was very nice the service here was okay I had to wait an hour and 10 minutes after my schedule appointment to see the artist I wasn't really happy with my eyebrows but I waited to see what the outcome would be I just allow the process to take place I called in to speak to someone of management no one was ever kind enough to call me back even after I submitted pictures and I mean no one management not even the artist I spent $700 for this visit will actually 600 and then the next visit will be $100 I felt very very upset about this to the point of Tears that I was not important like I did not matter I didn't count at all I was very offended by such service I didn't get an appointment so anybody could look at it or try to help me understand what was going on and why it look like this but I'm scheduled to see someone in April I mind you I had this done February 15th the day before my birthday it was a gift to myself. Well let's see what happens I will let you know what happens after my next visit
Rob H.
Great location and great food. Had a fun time
Nikki Ferrell
Beautiful experience. A must do for people who enjoy arts and supporting small business.
Will Prosper
Gorgeous views and great drink options.
Lynnette Camacho
Beautiful Views, but staff isn't really that friendly - they're not rude, just feels like cashier service. Needs a better menu. I'm always surprised how busy it is there - it's definitively about the view - my friends like it more than me and that's why I keep going back. Feel like they are missing the mark since the location and views are so good.
Scott Burroughs
This amazingly well preserved Art Deco school in South Philly has been turned into a cultural center. It embodies both the history and revitalized future of the area.
Amanda Hopkins
Always fun, but gets so crowded it can be hard to enjoy. Love that they offer reservations now so you can actually sit. The staff is always incredible and everything I've eaten or drank has been good!
John M Flores
Go to a rooftop event here if you can. The view is great!
Allie Ruiz
Reasonably priced, incredible views, short lines, quick service. I honestly can't wait to go back!
Im_So_Blessed
I loved this rooftop bar. The view of the city is amazing. It's everything you need to appreciate how beautilful our city actually is. I went back in August and couple times at the beginning of September. Drinks are not too expensive, but the selection is pretty slim. Overall, I had a great time every time I went. I haven't tried the food yet, but looking forward to it when they open again.
Manoj Jain
Definitely a place to visit, have a drink, enjoy the view....grab a snack...and on select times listen to light live music.
Gabrielle
Amazing VIEW! it has an interesting vibe when you walk in, as it use to be a school... the rooftop is renovated with plants and seating and is great place to chill with friends or have a date night overlooking Philadelphia ! RECOMMEND FOR TOURISTS as you’ll definitely get a great photo shoot here! drinks are great and moderately priced. i will definitely be returning. parking is across the street and is free ! you can see your car from the rooftop. if you’re hungry they also have a limited food menu! i will be returning for sure
David Byard
As a former student when it was Bok Tech HS, I always had great memories being here.
Seeing it now transformed into small business center is good because it still holds true the meaning behind that building: giving the local and up-and-coming people a chance to build and thrive.
Mike D
Great view and drinks! Honestly best view of the city from here. Try to come at night as the skyline is beautiful. They have rotating food vendors as well. Also shout out to 2 persona coffee
Vladyslav Yavorskyi
Incredible view, mediocre drinks and subpar food.
Matthew Davis
Had a really good time with our group. Located on top of what looks like a school, follow signs for Bok. Very safe covid protocols.
When we got there they had the local drumline performing, which was a fantastic show.
Food was fantastic, catered by Rooted Soul, would strongly recommend visiting her page and trying her food. Drinks were great prices and arrived promptly.
10/10
Brittany Van Sciver
I attended a class held here and I thought it was the coolest place!! Absolutely love that it still looked like a school inside.
Samira Harris
Just OK, a bit crowded andi didn't like the food options. Drinks were good though
Vince McNeil
I enjoyed my experience here. It started to drizzle out and there were people walking around offering patrons ponchos. I thought that was amazing. I do wish, though, that all of their tables had the overhead draping to keep light rain out. The food was good, but I wasn't thrilled with the presentation; my warp fell apart within seconds of lifting it. I wound up having to eat it so much more quickly since I didn't have a fork. The non-alcoholic drinks, I felt, were severely overpriced. I ordered a ginger ale which cost several dollars and was handed a 12oz can. I felt that was a complete joke. The service itself, however, was great. We were there for a birthday party. I'd read on their website about their "bring your own cake" fee; however, since I hadn't planned this party, I'd figured the organizer had taken care of it and didn't mention it. When the host saw there was a homemade dessert on the table, he did charge the group, and rightfully so. In regards to the remaining dining atmosphere unrelated to the weather, obviously the view is spectacular. I chose not to be a sheep and take photos with the view considering everyone and their mother was already doing so. I thought the location looked incomplete, however, without viewfinders situated on the roof. I'm unsure if they used to be there or if there was some ordinance that indicated they needed to come down, but I think they would have been a great addition to the scene if allowed.
Scott Florida
This is seriously the best view that exists of Philadelphia. Their drink menu is pretty bad and you never know what food they'll be serving, but I love taking people there for the view. The entire cityscape of Philadelphia, with residential south Philly as the foreground. Go around sunset to soak it in in the light, the twilight, and the night!
Lil Dior
Bok was great I love the dog park right in front of it. It is a great spot to hangout with your dog and you can meet new people they. And everyone are pretty friendly there.
Vince M (Vince271)
This bar is pretty cool! It's on top of a school so it's only open when school is out but it's nice to visit! The view from up top is excellent and very scenic for pictures. The food is also cheap and the drinks are not expensive so it's overall very nice. Not amazing since it can get crowded but not bad at all.
Noah Reichner
Our view of the philadelphia skyline was unbeatable. Tables are spaced well for privacy and covid precautions. They have local brews and offer drinks from female and black owned companies. Food options vary by day.
Lily de la Torre
The bar area has been improved from last year with flooring and furniture. Prices are ok but also improved from last summer.
Armando Christian
Great view of Philly sky line. Yes it sits on top of old Bok High School., they did great work on the decoration. Good selection of beer, few wine selections. Gave 4 stars due small food menu. I know we cant have it all. The City view and atmosphere will make up for it
Rodolfo Bryson
Cool co-op styled space. Some cool local shops and home to one of the city's top brunch spots, Miles Table.
Thor Foster
The candlelight is an experience you have to try at least once I'm your life time
Nicholas Catucci
Such a cool place to work!
Sim Sanchez
Loved it all. The view, the drinks and the food.
Dana Dentice
Breathtaking view of the Philly skyline. You really can't beat it.
Candance Long
Loved it and has amazing views of the city!
Zhen Ni
One of the nicest view of a rooftop bar you can get in philly.
ELAINE Panzeter
wow, loved all of the eclectic vendors in this old school. The punk rock flea market held here was so much fun. Found some treasured items and relived so.e good memories. Will definitely come back.
Matthew Marino
Amazing view. It's a must try place!
Linda Hrushanyk
The Bok Bar is a roof top bar that serves beer and wine. There is no hard alcohol and as such the clientele are there to have a good social time. There are dumplings and lite food. On a clear night, you can see the city's beautiful skyline.
Ed Schmitz
Attended liberty Flea Market run by Captains Vintage. Great Vendors great selection of vintage tee shirts and vinyl Records
Potso Vickers
Great school and fine arts program. Neat shops inside, Nice bar and restaurant also in building
Joyce Coleman
Went to Bok ALUMNI DAY at the Bok Bldg. Great Fun!!👏🏽👏🏽 …
tim mironidis
Fun place
Dave Janiec
Odd location. Difficult to access. Crowded. Loud. Bar and food service makes you feel like you are at the torn-down Veterans Stadium: drinks expensive and extremely short pours, food in paper bowls. On those merits alone, this would have been a two-star review, but it is without a doubt, for all of its shortcomings, one of the best open air views of the downtown skyline and still a bit of a scene. I hope Bok Bar is more than a flash in the pan and finds a way to stay relevant longer term. It's nice that some entrepreneurs are willing to make the effort to repurpose some of the older buildings that are architecturally interesting.
Mory Katan
Very cool rooftop bar with a great view of the city. Parking lot across the street helps avoid street parking. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Restaurant was very clean and drink options were plentiful. Would visit again.
Gregory Brown
This place is so cool. It appears to be an old school that was repurposed as a community Center / museum. Many of the classrooms have been made into art exhibits. Some of them are used for workshops and classes. I came for a flea market that was being held in the gymnasium. I got some great Essense soy based candles and some artisan jewelry as gifts.
Kevin Mogee
Go for the views. The view of the city is the highlight. The food is just okay, and the drink selection is average, but hanging out on a rooftop bar with a bunch of friends is always a good time.
RJ Runowski
What a find. Great food and flavor. Coffee shop and bakery in the same building. I will be back.
lance kellam
The view! This place is all about the beautiful 180 plus degree view of Philadelphia, rising up from the homogenous South Philly sprawl, from Southwest to camden, atop the 8th floor roof of a gorgeous art deco style repurposed middle school building. Patio deck with partial shade covering and seating options. Beer menu is ok but a little on the pricey side at 7$ average per can, coupled with a small pubgrub like food menu . Again, it's all about the view.
Robert Moore
I work at Bok. It's an old/ historical building. It has great atmosphere generated by businesses run by entrepreneurs and by building staff that truly care about the building and its people.
James Lye
Definitely a cool spot but they only have beer and wine. That being said, the view of Philly from the rooftop is amazing at night.
The bathrooms could definitely use some TLC though.
Dmitry Akselrod
Great multi-use building in an up and coming neighborhood converted from the old Bok high school. There are businesses from photography studios to hair salons. The rooftop bar has decent drinks and a fantastic view of the city. There is even a futsal league in the old high school gym now.
The only thing missing is a coffee shop or a restaurant.
Gabe L
Nice views from large art deco school building, converted to studio, chef, and event space.
Kimberly Ann
Many unique small businesses inside though it looks like just a school. There aren't any huge markings to tell if driving by (as I was looking for a business- maybe they all should list business name at The Bok School instead of the address. Even the front door isn't every eyecatching- old, no window to give an idea that it's in use. The building is hot, no A/C. It is clean. There is little Street parking available. I'll go back in a few weeks and post a pic of the 'front door's so that anyone reading this and looking to visit knows what to look for. Overall, supporting these local small businesses with community support makes this a worthwhile stop.

Love the repurposed school building, great spaces spaced out, located easily off several bus and subway lines, near fantastic local eateries.
Greg Budriss
I went to the coffee shot that was on the bottom floor of Bok. The place is nice and has a really area to enjoy your coffee. The coffee is not that good. And they ask for a tip before they make your coffee, who tips before service?
Ryan Schmid
A cool and unique addition to the south Philly bar scene. Views are amazing and being in a repurposed school is a one of a kind experience. Prices are typical for what you would expect craft beer and food to go for. Go for the view!
Sascha Schmidt
Nice view, good prices for the drinks
Stephen Singer
Bok is a tragic monument to the erosion of public space, civic purpose, and public education. The criminally underfunded school district sold off an under-used technical high school building for short term cash in desperate times.
The space is great. The interesting workspace and local businesses there are inspiring, and it is thankfully not wasted as upscale condos, but it is hard to see it and not also feel sad.
Joy Montagnaro
First time at the Bok Bar! Loved it! The atmosphere was mellow, the music and seating arrangements were cozy and condusive to conversation and the views were spectacular!
Sebastian Guide
Great views and music selection. Very cool that it's in a school.
Darren Fava
I attended the Open Studios tour at Bok and was thoroughly impressed. The Art Deco pile of a building itself is impressive, but the community being created inside is even more so. It is a mecca for makers. And what a diverse group of makers!
I met artists of every stripe - young, older, newly-minted, accomplished. Printers, leather makers, potters and bakers. (Hey I might have the makings of a poem here.) There were interior designers, jewelers, sculptors, a maestro of musical instrument repair, and even a maker of wood eyeglasses (who sadly wasn't there but left out a sample of his work).
Everyone I spoke with talked about how much they enjoyed being in the building and how friendly their fellow tenants were. Some came from other parts of the city (and region) and some live just a few blocks away.
Remake Glass in the basement made an impression with demonstrations of how they turn recycled glass into all manner of drinking glasses, vases, pictchers, and more.
I've lived nearby in South Philly for more than 15 years. I knew there were creative people all around me, but most of them worked outside the area. Finding workspaces full of creative folks meant going to Old City or Northern Liberties or elsewhere. I'm thrilled to know that now there's a home for them right here in the neighborhood!
I look forward to the imminent opening of "Two Persons Coffee" so I can spend more time in the building.
CR H
Best view in Philly. Drinks are ok.
Rich M.
There's alot going on here. From office spaces to day cares to restaurants and other small businesses. It saddens me that this building is no longer a high school as it was years ago, but happy it's still in use. It has history. Both good and bad for most.
Rachel Romma
I can't really say anything but good things about this space; it's a long-closed Tech School in South Philly that's been repurposed as an Arts and Entertainment space. It's surreal.
They kept everything thing same: Walking in, past the lockers, you'd think you were still in high school, fondly thinking of that song(s) that embodies your entire experience at that age. It's surreal. Walking into the bathrooms is a more intense version of previously stated, except you realize how low the toilets are, and how much smaller we all used to be. Very nostalgic! The Christmas arts bazaar last week was pretty decent. While it had the usual suspects of artisanal soaps and bad jewely, it had some true gems showcasing their wares.
The rooftop bar off the chain...you will never, ever, ever see views like this anywhere else in our city. Enjoy!
Ruth Ramos
Nice place for a party but it's too cold.
Yscha Werdmuller
Great view, great staff!
Angela Hou
Really interesting building that was once a tech high school, now repurposed for commercial use. Best known for its rooftop bar, but also houses a lot of creative-type local businesses, a coffee shop, and a hair salon. Has a hipstery vibe, like something you would expect to find in Fishtown.
Marcus R.
The crowd varies with the night, but it all works itself out. Music, food and beer & wine. The views are worth the visit, and once the sun goes down, the energy spikes way up.
Note: there is no smoking on the rooftop. Save yourself the hassle and keep the cancer sticks for the street. Other than that, here's to good times.
Simone Conosciani
Good location, nice skyline view of Philadelphia. Food wise nothing special very limited choices drinks are ok.
Susan Wysor Nguema
Great views, cool pop up menus every week. GREAT Sunday drag brunch!
Keerthi Channarasappa
Absolutely gorgeous views of the city!
Jason Lewis
Three stars for providing one of the best views in all of the city. Minus two starts for its beverage offerings. No cocktails found here.
Christopher Harris
Went for the views but the food was pretty disappointing for the pop-up that week. Highly recommended still!
A Santiago
Great skyline view of the city
JD Rivera
I love this place I was one of the first residents to come in to this building and I've seen it grown and grow into it one of the most beautiful places spiritually because the people inside are great there so many different types of artists Indians and so many different types of businesses it's so cool and on top of it well on the bottom of it is my gym Warrior boxing they have helped me grow as well as they have grown and have treated me like part of the family since day one I love my building and I love my gym is awesome I would recommend it to anybody to visit or even just try to get their business in there and be part of the family it's a great place
Adit Desai
Nice rooftop bar on top of an old school. Great local taps and rotating food
Lisa Rebel
Some “staff” were not only ignorant but out right rude Other than a few nasty people who in my opinion needed a nap the rest of the merchants were a pleasure
Dr. Shawn White
Beautiful view of the city. Drinks are very small for the price. Exceptional staff
Harry Spivak
Great collection of local businesses and very cool events.
Daniel Meacham
Drinks are kinda weak but the view is ridiculous
Frank N Williams Jr
Food was fantastic & service was equal to that. The only reason why they didn't get 5 star was due to one order being wrong. Despite that I was still go back. I would also recommend the place.
Patrick
Great view of the city, friendly staff
Santos Vega
Great food great service fun place to be
Andrew Fuller
One of the best places anywhere to watch a sunset. Decent beer and wine selection. Food can be intensely spicy, but tasty.
George Williams
Loved the views and the price of everything.
Elaine Stewart
The Federation for Neighborhood Centers is there.
Destiny Etienne
Beautiful scenery. It’s BYOB, but if you decide to not they have a very small but sufficient list of wines and beer.
Pawel Rogowski
Great views and brews
Stephanie Tonelli
Havent been to the bar. I dont drink much. I just battled the gym there. If you like rooftops and alcohol. I recommend it. Who doesnt like the night sky and alcohol? #teaminstinct
Laura Powers
Great variety of business locations, most responsible building management team, and most respectful of community relations.
fanny allender
Go there right before the sun goes down, the view is breathtaking, and the music selection will just help you forget your workday.
Tip: don't go there on a rainy day, you will end up like a wet dog
Lauren
Super cute spot, located at the top of an old high school. The furniture isn't too comfy or inviting but the views make up for that.
Rimon Mikhael
Very nice brew and good company ..awesome service
Tanya Cruz-Cooke
Great views and amazing ambiance . It was perfect way to end our weekend in Philly on a roof top watching the sunset with a cold beer .
Phil Young
Historic building repurposed as a work space. Good idea, great vibes
C Mateo
Bok bar has some of the best views in the city, not the best pricing, service, selection, or food. But decent in all areas and worth a look
Tyler Moore
Great, unique food. Great, unique atmosphere. Servers (actually everyone) were always smiling and answered questions easily. Will be going back!
Kelly Seppy
The individual spaces are nice and inviting but parking and going in and out is inconvenient. The immediate neighborhood is congested and it takes a while to punch in your code and get up to your destination.
Javier Lopez
Nice view, good food, craft beers are awesome. No liquor yet but scenery is good. Nice pre gaming spot
DJ Stuhler
Fun rooftop bar with amazing views of the Philly skyline.
Sunday afternoons are kid and dog friendly!
Kristine Mannone
Attending a candlelight ballet and it is lovely just wish I had grabbed water before I went in to the theater
Jon (Jon)
Amazing atmosphere and greet beer selection.
Irfan Raza
Awesome location for a small business operator. Provides plenty of options in terms of space to operate from. There is a bar on the top floor too.
Pam Newman
The school elements are still very much in place, and the coworking spaces still feel a lot like classrooms, but the repurposing of the space is fantastuc and lends to cool businesses having the space they need to exist affordably in south Philly (including a rooftop bar, printmakers, an event venue several workout spaces and a coffee shop)
Alicia Tate
Super cool multi purpose building... we've been for dinner and eye brow care ☺
Helene Fencl
This place is mind blowing. The variety of shops, personal help groups, professional crafters , and therapists, doctors and the best human touch ever.
vincenzo m
Great view, good range of beers
Patricia Merseles
Very interesting repurpose of the facility.
I felt the $5 fee to get into the flea market was too much for that 'part' of the venue
BlackMadonna HEIRLOVE
My beloved BOK A.V.T. H.S.
saddened to come to know your no more.
Great times here. Performed in talent shows.
Which I auditioned songs of Janet Jackson, CONTROL...Pattie Austin HEAT OF HEAT....
and became part of a singing group, performed prior to assembles IS THIS THE END by NEW EDITION.
Which, I even knew those gentlemen @ 18th & Catherine St. @ a friend's birthday party. Memories.
Also, was granted the opportunity as a Commercial Art student, to study at PA ACADEMY OF THE FINE ARTS Broad & Cherry St. & later awarded the chance to venture to NY NY ART MUSEUMS!!! Great times.
I miss my beloved BOK! must visit to see all the goings on there. WwwwwwwwowwwW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looking at those pictures....auditorium my commercial articles the corridors & walls where I hung my Poster running for President 1987'........
I just wanna cry.....i now reside in ILLINOIS & I tell you, when your away from home (a stranger) people will not be afraid to +@#!%? with you.
But I love my city! FOR LIFE NO DOUBT! Be well all.
One more thing...i was going through my things & came across a pic taken of me & a guy I found interesting/ we study Commercial Art same time. Pic taken in the gym. I even recalled coming to school perhaps in shocK after finding out my mom went away (in her sleep @ the hospital) few hours after we finished visiting her. I shared it with my gym teacher. She was friends with my mom sort of. Well, my mom would check in on me (because I was being bullied, and mom straightened it alllllllllllll out. Trust.
Sweet Pie didn't play. Everybody knew my mom. & she loved the kids, and they loved her aswell. Trust
Well, I guess that's all. Miss my school. XoxoxoX!!!!
Dawn Baynes
The view is fantastic. The staff is nice. Larrie is a doll.. She is spunky and full of life.
Joanne Reilly
This building has a long way to go with renovations but I really like the Smokehouse BBQ restaurant and I'm looking forward to more good restaurants here.
Kimberly Lasisi
34 years later....words could not express how good it felt to experience familiar grounds..... so many members and happy to be here to see be able to visit once again. Overwhelmed!
AJ Antonioli
Worth checking out just for the view! Good selection of beers, but the food is lacking. Mix it up with something fresh.
Deron Smithwick
I know the school is closed but I wantd to go on record that I was a part of the class of the 1983. Our class was very small only 200 plus students graduated but it made for close nit community of learning and fostering friendships, that's BOK was aobut I would not change going from west philly to south Philly for the world.
Sinsai Reddy
The purfic view on a perfectly sunny day.
But nothin good on their menu. Special MENU for great BEER. GO FOR THE VIEW!!!!
Michael Broderick

I only came here for a reunion, from out of town. I couldn't find parking anywhere. I'd think that if they were turning it into a business they'd want people to have a place to park and enter.
