Reviews of Prospect Park Zoo
Lisa S
I have stopped by this cute little zoo several times in the past with today being my most recent visit. It might not be a large zoo, especially in comparison to the Bronx Zoo, but it has enough animals and exhibits to entertain a small child. The price of admission is $9.95 for an adult and $6.95 for a child, which I find extremely reasonable. They have a really cool barn with adorable friendly farm animals that can be hand fed. They also have a cafe/gift shop which has vastly improved since the last time I was here. The cafe part might be limited on food options, but they have really nifty gifts and toys. Be on the lookout of all the zoos friendly resident peacocks that are walking around so children won't be startled if they approach them. I definitely recommend anyone (whether solo or with a family) to check out this zoo. It is really a great place to spend a few hours every once in a while.

This zoo is medium sized on my zoo tour so far. This was the second zoo on my NYC zoo tour.
The exhibits in this zoo are worth the the cost offering a mix of indoor and outdoor placements. This zoo is perfect for all ages & this was reflected in the audience there on my visit.
From the front, there is a pool with California Sea Lions. There is a barn with goats, sheep and an alpaca that can be fed for 50c (2 quarters needed) with a handful of feed. The animals are very friendly. Have no fear of any adverse reactions from them. There is a hall of animals with exhibits of monkeys, reptiles, birds, cats, and even a dark room with bats. There is a trail with a wide range of animals including dingos, porcupines, otters and red pandas. There’s an exhibition on baboons that are together in a family.
I recommend this place for dates, friends, and family if you’re into animals.
Tickets prices can be found online. WCS members can get tickets free.

Great little zoo! They require vaccination to go inside the indoor exhibits and enforce masks inside. It felt safe and a fun way to get out of the house for a bit without too much risk.

This zoo is small. But still is a good place to go. First of all, it is close to us in Brooklyn. I don't need to Bronx zoo. Second, it has many animals. There is a sea lion training at 11:30. My daughters are so happy.
Annemarie Potts
I visited on a random weekday afternoon and had a great two hour visit. It's so nice to have a zoo as a resource for the borough - lots of different types of animals and there are a few interactive opportunities. Glad I went!
M. Saszare
Perfect size zoo for a family with kids.
…
Interactive Petting zoo, sea lion feedings,
Stroller and wheelchair accessible.
…
They have a wonderful baboon exhibit where you could sit down and watch the baboon families hang out.
There is no indoor cafe, only outdoor picnic tables. The gift shop is rather pricey.

Really lovely zoo with many interesting "residents" to interact with!
It might not be the biggest zoo in New York City but it's definitely worth the visit. As an adult I found the complex entertaining and big enough to spend a couple of hours.
The center point of the zoo is the Sea Lion pool, which is very entertaining and I spend a lot of time watching the sea lions play and engage with visitors. It would be handy if there is information about feeding/playing time so I would not miss the most important part of their day!
Many terrariums and aquariums are located in the Hall of Animal such as ones with birds, mice, reptiles, snakes and even bats, however my favorite was the one with colorful Amazonian forest frogs and dwarf mongoose! Family of baboons and terrariums with other monkeys are located in the pavilion named Animal Lifestyle, which was also the busiest place during my visit.
I really enjoyed the barn experience! I was able to walk around the barn, touch, pet and feed (for $0.5 per load) goats, sheeps, miniature pigs and alpacas. All animals are used to humans so they enjoy occasional scratches behind their ears and are really friendly. There is a lavatory for washing hands afterwards.
Last but not least is the Discovery trail - a place where I had close interaction with non-domesticated animals such as otters, porcupines, dingo dogs and red pandas! It was really fascinating to watch them up close (when they were not sleeping)! On the trail I have encountered many freely wandering, colorful peacocks, also used to humans.
The entry fee of $9.95 for an adult is very reasonable, the admission ticket can be purchased at the entrance as well as via QR code/online. Toilets are available at the Discovery Center around the Sea Lion Court free of charge and well maintained. Opposite is a Café and gift store with adjacent seating areas.
Paid by card. Visited in March 2023.

Out of the four zoos in the City that operate under the Wildlife Conservation Society, I like the layout of the Prospect Park Zoo the most. The peacocks that roam the park are a fun part of visiting the Prospect Park Zoo. It's very well-run, and clean. I really like this zoo!

The Zoo was awesome! A short 10s wait if you have a reservation for it.. Anyways, it was a blast. Staff was amazing, And they love company! (The animals. Maybe not the Sleeping ones though..) But also, I'd recommend visiting the SEA LION STORE & CAFE. It's a cute lil' Gift shop and snack bar. 2 to 1 things. The pics down below 👇 are just pics for what the animals are. They also put signs for what the Type of Bird, Koala, Ect. They are. Make sure to look out for the otters when you first come in. They'll be Jumpin'!
Ivan Yeung
This was a really nice zoo to visit. They had a good assortment of exhibits and the tickets aren't overly expensive. It is not the biggest zoo, but for its size there is quite a bit to do. I personally really like the interactive part of the Barn and Garden exhibit. You are able to feed and pet the animals and I think it would be a great place to bring your kids. There are also seal training events throughout the day so make sure you check the schedule when you plan your visit to get the most out of your time there. The only qualm that I have with this place is the cafe. The food was overpriced and was not very good. There are a lot of other options near the zoo and I recommend checking out those places instead. As long as you are not going here to eat, I really think you should check this place out especially if you are bringing kids.
Daviea W
Beautiful zoo with lots of wild life and trails to explore. They have roaming peacocks that are very friendly. For all the Turning Red fans they have a red panda!!!.
Arianna Rodriguez
It was really fun, and I enjoyed seeing the animals but alot were missing so that was a little let down. Other than that great experience and we got to catch the sea lion show!
Suchy Reich
The zoo may not be the biggest zoo and there aren't that many animals but the grounds are amazing and fun to walk around especially with small kids you got these peacocks walking freely around a nice sea lions pool. Monkeys and a bird house. And a nice petting zoo my kids loved it . And there's a big plus the price is very cheap going at 8$ per child and 10 for adults.
Benjamin Zimbric
Hidden gem in Brooklyn. Great grounds for a walk and really nice displays for the most part. Lost a star because their wild dog seems a little too penned in.
Frank H
Nice time at the Prospect Park Zoo🦧🦥🦔. Would've liked a little more but all in all a nice excursion for the kiddos from the norm that is Brooklyn 🚉🚔 …
Don Blake
It was my first time to Prospect Park Zoo. I took one of my grandsons to a birthday party. The zoo offers 1.5 hour slots to host parties. The staff did an excellent job managing the group of 20 6 yr olds. They gave short lectures about some of the animals. A Skink and a Box Turtle was displayed and the group was taken to the Barn where they feed sheep and goats. After the barn, they returned to the classroom area and did cupcakes. All in all it was a fine party.
Marj
It's great for a local last minute trip to the zoo if you are from brooklyn however if you children or child is over 5 this might not do it for them. Or maybe you need to pay attention to special exhibitions. My daughter is 3 and loved it.
Ashmita
Being kissed by an alpaca was one of the happiest moments in my life. Their wildlife exhibits are great too. Plus feed the goats, cows. There is a freely moving about peahen who will peck breadcrumbs from your palm. You can also make ducks squabble over the food you throw to them. You get all the food from the zoo itself. Go with your child or go to bring out the child in you.
Natasha “Frenchy” Lucas
I've been here a few times and never disappointed. It's the perfect size for walking around with little ones. The farm section is popular and interactive. The kids get to feed the animals there. The zoo's location is also near public transportation, so very easy to get to. The Brooklyn botanical gardens, museum, and main library are all within walking distance.
Mary Farmer
Wow that was fun. We loved the primates and the peacock was a big show off. It's not too big and lots of shade trees.
Kseniia Boro
A small but cozy zoo. The animals are clean, well-groomed. You can buy food in the zoo itself and feed a llama, sheep. There is a swimming pool with sea lions in the center of the zoo. The cutest thing in the zoo is a red panda♥️. Entrance prices are not expensive, great for children 4-10 years old.
Veronika Nikolaeva
Our favorite little zoo! What happened to the lovely prairie dogs, though? Haven’t seen them in a long time
Robin Douglas
Wonderful place for families, especially with young children. Admission price is very reasonable, but beware that the snack shop is pricey. Lovely landscaping and helpful young staff who tend science stations for interested children. Clean restrooms. Feeding station for sheep, etc.
Ty
Had a good time. Tickets have entry times but you can stay in there for as long as you want once your inside. Hand sanitizers are posted throughout the zoo. Was surprised to see the peacocks walking around freely. They were friendly and eating food from people and just going about their merry way. The barn feeding was a nice touch. Wasn’t too crowded which was good. The cafe wasn’t much of a cafe. More of a gift shop with few snacks. We literally got through the whole zoo in about an hour and a half. It’s small but good enough if you don’t want to go all the way to the Bronx. Overall had a good time. Would recommend for kids as well as adults.
Mrs. BENT
Great experience observing all the diverse animals. We even caught the mini sea lion feeding where they did a few tricks. My son also fed the swans, ducks & turltes. You can also feed the animals in the barn too. I love that you can cool down in the various conservatories. It was over 90 degrees when we visited. There was only one area that was closed due to covid but all in all a great day activity for the kids.
Isabel Baransky
Really manageable zoo that was clean and conveniently located. It was also really reasonably priced! The petting zoo was wonderful. Not great food on premises so make sure to eat beforehand.
Nikolai King
This zoo is amazing fill with atol to learn about the animals and have a great selection of animals to see
Nicole
Smaller zoo, but well-organized and isn't very overwhelming but not boring either.
Shauna Gonzalez
Awesome staff and great animals. I loved the sea lion training
Yechezkel Moskowitz
My kids enjoyed the zoo as the variety of animals and modern exhibits are enough to sustain the joy and wonder of the little kiddos.
Adriana Larotta
I loved the place, the park is beautiful and I like it even more than central park, and the zoo is awesome, it worth it, if you're in Brooklyn you definitely must go here
Brent Parker
Awesome little zoo, especially for the cost. Hand feed goats and sheep, sea lions a few feet away, peacocks roaming wild, and so many other cool finds. Perfect for kids.
Ahaqir Ishaq
A beautiful zoo that has over 150 animals and 400 different species. The sea Lion show is great for kids and lasts about ten minutes. It takes place two to three times a day depending on the time of the year.
Jess the Blessed
The PEACOCKS! Definitely the most memorable part, they just roam freely!
Today was my first time coming to the Prospect Park Zoo and I really dig it. I took a few of my students, who are locals in Brooklyn and have been to this zoo at least once before. The zoo is small but has a good amount of sightseeing and animal interactions for the visitors. I really enjoyed the farm part of the zoo. Got to pet and feed sheep and an alpaca (or a llama?)!
Covid has brought numerous sanitizing stations. Given that we had a 10:00am entry, park had a few visitors and finished covering the zoo in less than 2 hours :)
Sarah Conyers-Cullen
The zoo is a treasure and was a favorite of my father when he was a kid in the 60s (when they had elephants!) And mine in the 90s and this week we took our 1yr old to start the next generation!
A part of the whole wildlife conservation system of ny zoos they do amazing educational programs and have just enough cute animals to be a requested trip for kids of all ages.
Sealion training, cutest little monkeys, a nature trail with kids activities and a petting zoo!
If you are looking for extensive collections or exotic animals you must go to the bronx but don't sleep on this little gem!
The zoo is also located next to children's corner (the carousel and Lefferts house) so there is a full day of kid stuff to be done!
I always pack a picnic lunch as there are nice tables and grassy areas you are allowed to picnic on and the concessions are underwhelming
Oh and don't be alarmed the peacocks are supposed to be free roaming lol
Jason Persaud
Small zoo even smaller now with COVID as some of the exhibits were closed. During COVID they are very good with social distancing. They have floor markers, direction signs for one-way traffic and limit the number of people in the indoor exhibits. The price is very reasonable and appropriate for what is currently being offered. ($10 for adults and $7 for kids) This would be good if you are in or near Prospect Park to kill about an hour or two. Lots of street parking along Flatbush Avenue (even though street cleaning is alternate side - Mon/Thurs, Tues/Fri - it is from 8:30 - 9 AM so you could easily find spots after 9.) All staff were very helpful and kind. I would love to return once the other exhibits open back up.
Amelia G
This is a nice but small zoo. Due to covid, all indoor attractions are closed, but you can still see the sea lions, go on the discovery trail, and visit the barn. My family spent a fun 50 minutes here, but if the indoor attractions were open, we would have visited for longer. You do have to reserve tickets ahead, and not take the chance of there not being enough tickets for everyone in the group. It's worth it too get a zoo membership so you can come here as often as you'd like.
A V
At my agency we take our individuals to this local mini zoo. They love it. I also visited this place plenty of times on school trips long ago. I wish this zoo was a little bigger with more live animals.
Kimberly Deorio
Great day trip for the little ones! Varied exhibits, love the sea lions, barn animal and duck feedings are a favorite in my household. Bring extra quarters and a cup or bag to put the extra food in. Recommend visiting with the kids for a 3 hour fun engaging experience!
Maksim Bogdanov
A very nice little place to visit, especially for kids. If you have quarters, you can actually get some food to feed the animals. Nowadays, they are open only by reservations which you could make online. There is a clean restroom on site, but their little cafe is temporarily closed
Jazz MiiN
Super cute and super small. Can be done within an hour. Upon entering you can go to the right and enter the trail and go see the dingos, porcupines, an emu, otters, peacocks, and others. After you walk out of that area there are seals, marmosets, frogs, iguanas, snakes, goats, sheep, a cow, etc. I love the zoo and making memories. Even though it's small I enjoyed it.
Thomas Overmiller
Our entire family of seven enjoyed this zoo immensely. You can tour the zoo in 1-2 hours max without rushing, and it offers a variety of kid-friendly features and activities. The outdoor hiking loop is relaxing and features my favorite - the red 🐼. The indoor exhibits feature an engaging variety of animals and a pleasant experience overall, and so does the outdoor farm area.
Tanasha Billingsley
The zoo was amazing! My children really enjoyed themselves. The only thing was there was only one bathroom so we would have to go from one side to the other just to use the bathroom then go back to wherever we were but otherwise it was a great site to see all the amazing animals!
Andrew
I really enjoyed!! This been a first time for me going to this zoo. Great experience. I will recommend you to choose a week day before closing- around 2-3pm is best! Go there with family, kids, girlfriend- whatever! 😃 So much fun, and you can feed some of animals. Thanks!! I will definitely come back!👍🏻we ordered tickets online, and there you can choose a time, and book a place in the line ✅

A little slice of heaven. I can’t believe I’ve lived in Brooklyn almost 3 years and never knew about this place! It was so peaceful and relaxing to stroll along learning about the different animals housed there! If you have little kiddos then this is the perfect place to bring them! There’s interactive areas for kids to learn and play and it was wonderful to see so many happy families able to take their time without having to fight crowds like at larger zoos.
One thing I found amusing was the fact that there were at least 3 gorgeous male peacocks strutting about on the lawns near the sea lion pool, posing for photos and generally looking like they owned the place. Magnificent creatures!
Angela Maaya
Really enjoyed this place both as a zoo and a nature trail. My favourite parts were being surprised by peacocks freely strolling around, a fashionista stingray in polka dots. The price is very decent compared to other NYC zoos, and before/after the zoo you can even go to Prospect Park (free) for more activities!
Dlilah Luv
This was my first Sunday visit normally I would go on a Saturday or weekday was hoping there may not be as much people but boy was I surprised when I got there and there was a line buying tickets in advance guaranteed you got in which I was glad I purchased ahead of time...all attendees needed to wear masks with the exception of 2yrs or less...antibacterial stands were placed at different locations throughout, while walking around if employees saw individuals with their mask not properly worn they would remind them 'masks needed to be worn properly at all times' the line to one of the showrooms was a bit long and after joining and rejoing a couple times I gave up and went to the barn and trails overall it was a Sunday well spent with the kiddies will be back🙂
Ilyos's chanel
Good place for child, clean and interesting..!!!!! before you come you have to buy tickets on the zoo website and then you can go. Tickets are not sold at the box office...
Orlando Asson
I was surprised by the photos I was was able to capture here! The monkey exhibit was my fav. The time I went there was also a peacock walking around! The seals out front were fun to watch as well. This zoo has a great mix of different animals and is priced well.
Farha Anjum
The zoo is not very big like Bronx zoo and they don’t have big animals. But it is very well maintained and great for family outing! It will take around 2 hours to see everything. My favorite part was the several peacocks around the zoo. I highly recommend visiting this place!
Wasmiya Tan
Love this zoo for a quick two hour hang pre-nap. The discovery area is great for toddlers and kids. COVID pre-cautions are well done- pre-book in advance and basically contactless. The feeding farm animals is still active, which is great. There were no sea lion feedings, possibly due to the large crowd it would draw and lack on social distancing. But glad that the zoos are open again!
Alex
This is a great little zoo. Very good for families and kids. Small enough to see everything in an afternoon, but has plenty of interesting things to see.
The have a small petting zoo. You can buy food from to had feed some of the goats and sheep.
Fr Ri
Just as fun as I remember it being as a kid but smaller than I remember. Its a lot of fun for the very young (1 to 6 or 7) but older kids and teens may get bored. The peacocks are friendly and rome free in the pavilion.
James Guardino
This is a great zoo, they have lots of animals, including baboons, seal lions, and just alot. You should check the website first before going this way you can catch the sea lion feeding. I believe it's like every 2 or 3 hours and 3 times a day.
Tessa Tyo
Cute little zoo! Petting zoo in the “barn” area, you can only get food for the animals with quarters/cash, so make sure you have one of the two on hand. Looking forward to returning.
Edward Grant
An excellent place to take the kids, or to take in by yourself. On a smaller scale than the Bronx Zoo, The Prospect Park Zoo is much easier to experience fully in the course of a few pleasant hours. They've done a great job of Covid-19-proofing the grounds without leaving guests feeling either cramped or denied any experiences. The bird exhibits, in particular, are amazing. This is a GREAT place to take kids of any age. Highly recommend!
Gursharon Mangat
It is a smaller sized zoo perfect for parents with little ones children under 3 are free and adults are about 10 dollars, it has feeders for the ducks and the goats. It has a few indoor stations as well and a show with their sea lions. It is not as intimidating in size as the bronx zoo but they definitely have a ton of interesting things to keep you occupied. It has peacocks that roam free.
tclarke881
Went on a family trip. The Zoo was nice with different entrances that housed different animals.Such as goats, birds, monkeys, snakes, sea lions, turtles, and fishes. Oh and there were peacocks as well. It is a small average zoo. No, unfortunately they do not have gorillas, zebras or giraffes. Im sure they would have these at the Bronx, NY zoo. The staff were great and helpful. Overall, great to take the kids and family.
Lisa Zoller
I was pleasantly surprised by this place. It's quaint and clean with a surprising amount of walkways and exhibits. We had the place to ourselves for awhile before families arrived. We stayed till 1130 to watch the Seal feeding. What a nice morning for $9+ for an adult. I noticed they had a room for private parties for little ones too. That's a neat idea.
Darkchocolatedrop Darksweetberry
Oh my god they had so many different animals now compared to before and the exhibit. You get to feed the zebu it's most definitely a great place to spend family time and it's cheap only $8 dollars you can't beat that.oh the seals show is amazing don't forget to charge your phone so you can take video and prepare to be amaze the show starts around 11:30am.
Galyna Shulimova
Small & cozy Zoo. Animals trail is great, even in hot weather you will be fell not bad because a lot of trees.
Price of the tickets are very appreciated - $10 for adults and $6 (or $7) for kids.
Mieriem Abdullaieva
The Prospect Park Zoo is a 12-acre (4.9 ha) zoo located off Flatbush Avenue on the eastern side of Prospect Park, Brooklyn, New York City. As of 2016, the zoo houses 864 animals representing about 176 species, and as of 2007, it averages 300,000 visitors annually. The zoo is not the largest in NYC, though it’s very liked by me and my friends. Highly recommended to everyone 🐢🐍🐠🦀🦕🐺🐗🦓🐋
Shantel Moses
Small, intimate zoo. Half the size of the Central Park zoo or even smaller. But perfect to let my 5 year old run wild and free. The highlights: the barn and the sea lions.
Come in winter and have the place all to yourself. We love it then. No crowds!
Nicole Woo
The size of the zoo is great if you have 45 minutes to an hour to spend. However, due to the small size, I can’t help but feel bad for the animals here; they barely have space to fly/swim/move around.
There is a small petting zoo where you can pay $0.50 to feed snacks to sheep and goats.
Vinod Reddy
This zoo is essentially for small kids. It would be nice if they did not have to walk a fair distance from a parking spot.
Jackie Silva
While the zoo is small compared to others there is a good variety of animals to see. The use of space feels very thought out. There are some education centers and a few shows a day of how they take care of their sea lions. There is also a kids area where you take some really cute photos of your children.
William Maisonave
Had a great time with the kids. Plenty to do, plenty to see. Watched a show with sea lions, fed llamas and sheep, crawled in caves and watched monkeys dance. Place was great. Highly recommend.
Ka yan Chan
Well kept zoo with very adorable animals. One funnily obnoxious sea lion that will jump around during feeding time is just too entertaining. There is a family of red panda too that are just too cute.
Regina Minaya
A nice zoo located within Prospect Park in Brooklyn. Free parking is readily available at most times. The grounds are clean and well kempt. There are play areas for children. A gift shop and small cafe is on premises; however, only credit/debit cards are accepted. It is a great way to spend a few hours with smaller children. It is also available to visit free with a NYC Culture Pass. You may inquire in public libraries about obtaining one.
Justin Rogers-Cooper
Small to medium sized zoo near Prospect Park and Brooklyn Botanical Garden. Animal highlights include duck pond and barnyard, where you can exchange quarters for food pellets and feed sheep, goats, turtles, and ducks. Our other favorites are the baboons, Pallas cat, the foxes, bats, lady birds, aviary, monkeys, otters, dingos, and red pandas. Feeding time with the sea lions is fun. Peacocks wander around. Discovery center is kid friendly. The food options here and in Queens and Staten Island are standard, which is to say limited, and that element is in sorest need of new vendor contracts. We’ve been here a zillion times and it’s always fun, though.
Fatima Paredes
Beautifully amazing, had a great time interacting with the animals theres also red panda n dingos but the pictures speak for themselves. Worth going to Prospect Park Zoo you wont be disappointed!!!
Ann Bryan
It's small and fun. I went on a Saturday. It wasn't crowded and the kids love the barn area feeding the animals. You have to reserve your tickets before you get there online. Its better to get the annual family pass if you want to visit more than once or multiple zoos. It's way cheaper that way.
Katie Y
Excellent little zoo with nice staff. Small zoo, but perfect for small children and special needs families. Love all the air-conditioned areas which make it great this summer. Nice sculpture and the waterfowl area is lovely. My son adored the baboons. If your kid is really into animals and you take drink breaks and advantage of the viewing and sitting areas, this is a very fun way to kill two or three hours.
Also, the classic staple of amusement parks, zoos, and similar places are present! Dippin Dots are available. Really wish they had a soda fountain, cotton candy, popcorn, and more classic foods, but still pretty fun.
Chih-Ping Lee
A tiny zoo just like your backyard. It's good to bring your family to visit.
Dante Stone
A wonderful little zoo. Though not as large or showy as a lot of the other NYC zoos, a LOT of love goes into this place, and it shows! Not necessarily a prime stop for tourists with limited time, but for New Yorkers, this is a gem; a smaller, more intimate, and quieter zoo than the others.
Rosa Bertran
Not your normal zoo. Lots of endanger animals, that's what makes it special. All but one of the exhibits was open. The grounds are beautiful and full of ambiance. Loved the peacocks walking the grounds, you never know when they will show up. Enjoy!
Natalya Prokopenko
My kids loved it! Perfect size of the zoo if you have a little kids! Place was very clean and stuff was friendly! Definitely will be back!!!
Novella B
Small enough to see everything in an hour. Some of the signage are misleading and the exhibits are missing, for instance the flamingo in the avery. They charge full price even in the last hour of closing. A good zoo for younger children and they love the petting section.
Linda Gor
Nice & not crowded... We were visiting on Labor Day. Sea lions show was nice - a must see...
Comparing with our previous visit, looks like there is less animals than we saw before.
Please help Zebu!! His leg is bitten to blood by flies. He is all shaking. It's painful to see...
Plase call a vet!!
Kimberly Campos
Its ok.. really small zoo. You can really explore the whole park in 25-30 mins. Not much attractions either. The only highlight is the sea lion training feeding.
John Bravo Ayers
For $10 this place was worth it. I was pleasantly surprised at the peacocks walking around freely. The only turn off was the appearance of the sheep. They looked as if they are not properly being taken care of.
Brant Douglas
Most things were great at the zoo. From the sea live to the mammals, the exhibits were well curated. My only issue was the hungry peacocks. Please feed the peacocks. They are starving. The park posts signs saying not to feed, but I felt super guilty as they begged for nourishment. Feed the peacocks!
Matthew Klein
Small quaint children’s zoo.
You can see everything in one hour.
There are just a few exhibits, multiple of which house the same species. However the price is fair, making this a nice spot to check out. Unless you have someone (kids primarily) to show it to, this is a one time zoo.
Vianka's World
Great clean zoo. Lots a/c indoor areas to cool down and look at reptiles. Cafe is small as in the other zoos. They had salads, sandwiches, yogurts, cheeses, wraps, hot drinks, cold drinks, and ice cream. Kids can feed farm animals and turtles and ducks. Five min walk to train station. McDonald's & Wendy's in the corner outside.
Chris R
Another gem in Brooklyn. Easy to get to, animals I never seen before are on display and look healthy and the peacocks walking around make you feel like you're in an exotic place.
Nikola Stanchev
Amazing and well organized Zoo. Plenty of unique animals like red panda, mata-mata, blue frog, bird and mammals.
Marva Brown
Even on a cold day it's a very nice outing. My children love feeding the animals be it sheep, goats, or ducks. The discovery trail is a perfect hike for toddlers and pushing the baby in the stroller. And when it got too cold we were able to go to one of the inside exhibits. Oh! And the peacock that walks the grounds is amazing. We haven't eaten in the cafe for a while but it is there and open for business.

Anyone who doesn’t love the prospect park zoo doesn’t love any part of life. (Facts are fact), it’s super cheap and it has live peacocks walking around. Let me repeat that, you can chill with a peacock for less than $10. For being a “small” zoo it has a great amount of animals. Seals are dope too. Pallas cat was probably my personal fave. 5/5.
Cindy Moreno
The zoo was great! Small but mighty! I highly recommend visiting!
Lo Ehrhart
We love it here! Very accessible zoo for the younger kids.
lily perez
It was nice, nothing in comparison to the bx zoo but it was nice and not crowded at all which was amazing. It was just a really small zoo . I love the little areas where they played a little educational game and got stamps
Crissy Volpe
It may not be the biggest zoo around, but the ability to feed and pet some of the animals makes it a very enjoyable one.
Rika Kenshin
My best friend and i had a great time. We made the best of a girls day out. We love doing randomn things. Love zoos. Loved how small it was. Perfect for laughs and a good time.
Roy Mano
Nice small zoo located at Prospect park. They have some interesting and exotic animals, a very big barn/ petting zoo and a cool adventure trail my son loved. Due to the small size of the zoo it won't take over an hour to cover most of it and food options aren't as abundant as in the Bronx zoo.
Sean T (samtraeger)
It’s small, but definitely one of the most beautiful zoos we’ve ever visited, and a great value!
Sarah Rose
A really adorable place! It's affordable and quaint but filled with enough to last you a few hours. Animals are not kept in cages but penned off areas where they can still roam. Alot of the exhibits felt interactive so it's fun for children (or your inner child)! Definitely a fun place for a date, or to bring kids! Didn't feel too crowded, granted I came on a nice fall day.
Lizzi RN
Go early to avoid the crowds and heat. Plenty of indoor activities even if it's raining. bring snacks or picnic outside the cafe. Clean. Don't forget your quarters for the petting zoo!
Ivan Đaković
Small but really nice zoo.
Manuel Benitez
funIt's fun, mostly for small children who can find a single monkey entertainment, the petting zoo aspect is something to desired, they have a few goats and some alpacas there, dont forget to bring Case quarters or single dollar Bill's to buy food for them.
Mary Cieslewicz
A wonderful zoo for families with young children. You won't see lions and tigers and bears, but a diverse and large collection of other animals from around the world. Well maintained exhibits could use a bit more signage to identify some animals. Children will enjoy emerging from tunnels into clear domes to join the gophers in their exhibit, hatching from giant eggs, or climbing into turtle shells. The zoo has a street entrance but can also be entered from a trail in Prospect Park next to a carousel!
Jonathan Barnes
This is a really nice, small zoo. It's great for kids because it's not so daunting as the Bronx zoo and it has many activities in addition to the animals.
A little smaller than the Central Park Zoo (which is also fantastic for kids), the Prospect Park Zoo is a place that you could spend an hour running through, or a few hours, doing all that there is to be done. There are crafts by the meerkats, a feeding zoo, some structures for the kids to play on, peacocks (or peahens, not sure) which are ubiquitous to all of the zoos here, and plenty more.
I highly recommend anyone getting a WCS membership because having this place available whenever is great for those days off from school since it is right on the park, and next to the Botanic Garden and Prospect Park Carousel.
Justin Brown
When we went late December it was disappointing no prairie dogs and aviary was closed, but animals inside were rare types like the African sand cats. Sea lions put on a good show.
Karthik Krishnan
Most of the areas are closed because of the covid situation. I think the queens zoo is also much bigger compared to prospect park zoo.
Mr. Worldwide/AFJr
Prospect Park Zoo is a small zoo with a good diversity and number of animals. For sure your kids will love it!
Jeannie C
Small nyc park zoo. Most the exhibits are open for viewing live animals. Must buy tickets in advance. Limited capacity. Must wear masks while in the zoo even while outdoors within zoo property. There is a free roaming make peacock so that’s cool.
C. Ross
Love this place! It's a much smaller zoo that the Bronx so it's perfect for little legs that tire out quickly. While they don't have a large selection of animals, the Sea Lion feedings and Hamadryas Baboons make up for it. Reasonably priced, staff is friendly and during warm months you can visit Lefferts Historic House as well as the carousel to complete your trip!
Arq. Adriana Goberman
Nice - small - environment great !
JULIA NABIULLINA
If you have a kid and thinking what to do today- go to Prospect Park Zoo! It’s cozy, not too big and welcoming. Good mood is guaranteed. We all loved it!
Feed the goats/sheep, watch the sea lion, laugh at monkeys, go to the playroom for kids- so much to do! They have a new “resident” now- a mountain cat. Beautiful!
Taley Mechlovitz
My two year old granddaughter had fun feeding the farm animals.
Didn't get to see the red pandas, but that would be our first stop next time.
juan briones
Was amazing experience very clean very organized for be a big Zoo no to many guards becouse you don't need.
koko •
even though we got a reserved time ticket it was packed inside, there are long lines for the two indoor exhibits. if you’re impatient you’re not going to enjoy yourself 😭 …
David Jarrett
We enjoyed the zoo. Small habitats and several buildings closed but a nice variety of animals and interesting ways to get to them including a petting farm. Adults liked it as well as the children. WE missed all the shows and events, but it was nice they were doing them. Can't match the Bronz zoo but this place is easy to get to and fun for the family.
Sean Morrissey
The trash outside near the entrance was off putting but the staff were pleasant. Do to covid, the inside exhibits were closed which seemed to be 50% of the attractions.
Dasha
New zoo with cool animals to look at your Children will love it ! A beautiful spot to spend time with family!!!
Rich Garcia
A nice thing to do if you have kids under 10. Not much exhibit wise. But zoo has enough to enjoy and view and is set up nicely to burn 2 to 4hrs depending on your needs. Bring drinks and snacks :)
Cicily Ferdinand
Was there earlier, some of the exhibit that were closed, are now open. The children had a great time seeing the bats and the fenex foxes.
DJ Colwell
Went with some friends on a weekend. Not too crowded despite nice weather. The sea lion feeding demo is fun. It's a small zoo which is great for those with short attention spans, still plenty to see. Overall I had fun.
I'm only giving three stars because there's almost no information on the animals to the point where we couldn't even identify some of them. The signage (when present) has the type of animal, a picture, and maybe a fun fact. Unfortunately missing is basically everything else. How many animals are in the enclosure? Are they male or female? Adults? Juveniles? Where do they live in the wild? What do they eat? Was this one born in captivity? Are they endangered? The zoo website is not any more helpful.
I know that zoos are a bit of a mixed bag as far as animal conditions and I did think some of the enclosures might be too small. I am not an expert but I would really like to see some information on how they are making sure the animals have adequate space etc. and general information on how they are contributing to the well-being of animals overall.
Gloria Lewis
This used to be a great place for younger children, with a lot of interactive activities. On my most recent visit (July 1st), I found that the several areas were closed. Also there were no prairie dogs, (which was always a highlight) for the kids. The cave around the prairie dog exhibit was filled with huge flies. It seems the whole place could use a good cleaning and sprucing up. Also, perhaps a few indoor seats for dining might be good as I noticed several children afraid to eat with peacocks near them. Hope to see the zoo return to top form soon.
Tee Claxton
This year there was a lot of peacocks walking around. I wanted to pet 1 about it only wanted to eat any good on the floor.
Sarah Flicker
We had a ball checking out the animals. We also loved the interactive discovery walk. The sea lion show was truly impressive. Great way to spend a few hours with little people.
Nick Felker
This is a fairly small zoo, but it has a reasonable admission. When you walk in, you see sea lions and buildings around it. One of the buildings was closed off but the others were open. There are some animals but not a lot. Several animal exhibits only included a single one. I finished walking around after an hour and I took time to look at them all. It's a fun place to go, but I don't think I'd go again.
Theresa
I've been coming here almost my whole life!! As a child, when it was still a "zoo" (thankfully, no longer), I came here with my boys when they were younger and I continue to visit now!! I LOVE IT!! So much fun and so interesting! Cool animals to see and fun trails to walk!! This is truly a place for CHILDREN OF ALL AGES!!
S C
Great sealion show, not too many animal species, and the ice cream booth was closed when we were hot and craving for icecream.
Emily Colon
Had a great visit. It was pretty empty when I went so I got to experience everything at my own pace. Would definitely recommend going during the middle of the day on a colder or cloudy day so you dont have to worry about kids everywhere. The restrooms were clean. The price was reasonable. Saw everything in about 2 hours. Watch out for the peacocks, they roam everywhere.
Sapphire Montrelle
I loved the barn area. Feeding the sheep was my favorite part of the whole visit. You also get to feed other animals as well. Very affordable ticket prices and I highly recommend this zoo for family visits.
Charmelaine Gador-Kabiling
It's a cozy zoo and not crowded. It's small but space is utilized well. Peacocks walk around the zoo and is always fun to see. We love watching sea lion feeding and going to the barn area. The indoor parts are also enjoyed by our family.
Colleen Zayas
A great little zoo! It was not busy as if we rented it for ourselves! We were able to take all our time and watch the animals. The ticket prices are very reasonable.
J Sindone
Big fan of the Red Pandas. Very friendly staff, don't forgot to get some dippin dots.
Jay C
A good afternoon destination on a nice day. When I went, a couple buildings were closed for "the safety of patrons and animals."
Wenhui Xie
Very neat little zoo! It's intimate, fun, and houses quite a good variety of animals!
Sharra Whitfield
Great for toddlers and babies. A starter zoo. Not too big. Not too small. Peacocks are roaming about. Catch the Sea Lion feedings. Very entertaining VERY LOUD!
Irina Godunov
The baboon exhibit is fun. The kids enjoyed feeding the sheep & alpaca. Clean. Great zoo in Brooklyn!
Elly Weiss
Interesting exhibits in a beautiful setting. Staff is friendly and helpful. Be prepared to be greeted by the many free roaming peacocks!
Tori Clinton
The zoo is well kept and admission price was just 8 dollars for adults. They had a cute barn full of animals to feed and an otter show! I would definitely recommend this attraction for familes with small children.
Shawn Lane
It's a very small version of the Bronx Zoo. They do not have all.of the animals that you would see in the Bronx Zoo. But it is still fun
Bk Live
Toddlers are free..friendly staff you can feed the goats and sheep.lots of restroom
Saucy Bee
Awesome experience. Throughly loved it. Great introduction to different animals for all ages.
A.N HS
I'm came to the Prospect Park Zoo as a child and now that I'm bringing my own I am very happy to see that they've managed to change the experience yet again. Love the free roaming peacocks!
Herman M
Good small zoo for a family with kids.
Unlike other larger zoos there are no long walks her, so the children stay captivated throughout the visit and there is a good seating area that is pretty close to everything so the whole family could quickly hop over for a snack before continuing the walk.
There are many interesting exhibits but the highlights for us was the nice seal show that everyone could enjoy and the theater-like area where you can sit down watch baboons through a large wall-to-wall-ceiling-to-floor window.
My kids also loved the beautiful peacock that are roaming around freely between the visitors and the small bridge over a ponds where they could stay and watch the swans and discover turtles and other hidden creatures.
Street parking was a challenge and you might want to consider using public transit to get here.
Crystal
It was really nice but really small. I feel like The Bronx Zoo is much bigger with way more animals and activities. Also, you can't get in for free on Wednesdays like you can at The Bronx Zoo.
snehal kenjale
This is a good place for kids to see animals. There aren't many different species though.
Johana S
Really nice and cool zoo it’s small but you see a lot of animal for $10! They have two hidden spots where they keep animals in the dark/cool temperatures make sure to check them out.
Ashante Clay
Great zoo in the city. Small animals and a lot to see. Wild peacocks 🦚 make beautiful photo ops.📷 …
Philip Stelter
Phenomenal and underestimated small zoo in Prospect Park - perfect for kids
Kostadin Boychev
A great place to bring your kids / family or go on a date. Events on appointments or during the weekend . It is a little bit small, but that's it's charm too.
Joshua
Beautiful, ZOO in Brooklyn, seen this amazing PEACOCK . Good place to bring the family, very muddy this day because of the rain but still felt like an adventure
Natalie Krel
Wonderful trip not only for grandkids. My husband and I had great fun with the animals especially when fed gluttonous Lambs.
ANDKC NYC
+Love this small little zoo, you can zip thru it in a few hours then relax & eat your own lunch!!!
+I live the exotic species of turtles and birds 2 see. The loose peacocks may give u couple of scares but adorable!
+Buy some souvenirs it will help the zoo😃💙💚
+you get a good view of sea lion show too.
-the cafe food is pricey
Gina Park
Me and my sons really enjoyed^0^*
Workers are very kind!
We’ll go again!!🐒🐬🦚 …
Ruby H
Cute little zoo for little children. My kids are under 9 yrs old and still enjoyed it. Parking is along the street inside the park. Half of the zoo is indoors: small monkeys, toucan, lizards, poison dart frog, small African cat, boa, etc. Sea Lions up front, barn animals on one side, outdoor animal route on the other. It was an add on activity after the Brooklyn Children's Museum.
ozie al
Loved the zoo. For the price it was entertaining for toddlers. Sealions and moving dinosaur were the heart of the zoo. My baby has autism so he loses interest quick. Instead of finish watching animals he started climbing and crawling through cave which was very entertaining. Will come back again
Nicki Bratz
Had a great time! Animals are well cared for. There should be a better choice of drinks as it was hot and we were thirsty. That turned out to be a big deal
Greg Z
Loved the zoo! The kids have a lot of fun feeding the animals! Will be going back over and over again.
Ketevan Khokhlova
It's a bit small, a lot of domestic animals. However, it's clean and really good for kids
BK Man
Very nice zoo. Small location but entertaining for a toddler and 2 parents. No ramp at the entrance is the only complaint.
Debra Whipple
Love everything about this zoo! Such a beautiful place and so many fun things to do and see.
Jana Smith
It's a very nice zoo and a great price, $10. We started at 10am and finished by 1115. It would have taken a little longer but one of the exhibits was closed because of flooding. We caught the sea lion training at 1130. That was fun. It's the perfect size for kids. They won't get tired or bored before the end. Afterwards, we walked around Prospect Park for a while which has the last area of natural forest in NYC. It was a nice day.
Angela Chung
A small zoo, great for toddlers. Sea lion feeding is at 3 pm!
José Roberto Luna
You can enjoy an easy connection with nature whitin the city. Great place for families and children, they will have the chance to see sea liones, birds, fishes and monkeys. There is a carousel outside and a store and cafe inside, both very convenient. Don't hesitate and enjoy this Prospect Park small yet nice spot.
Tanya Louison
I went with my twins on their camp trip....they are two and were very interested in all the sites and naming the animals..it was my first time too so we enjoyed it together
Tamanna Shamim Ahmed
Truly amazing place. My 2 yrs enjoyed a lot there. Wanna go again.
Mordechai Steinberg
Spectacular zoo for younger children. The zoo isn't too big, so no need to walk around for hours without seeing any animals. Cages and exhibits are pretty small, so children actually get to see what's in the cage. Grass and landscaping is really nicely done, it's a pleasure walking around on the grounds in the zoo. Many different types of animals, from monkeys, frogs, mice, and many more options. There are indoor and outdoor exhibits, so you can go rain or shine, hot or cold, literally in any weather. Overall a stunning zoo for very young children, not ideal for children 10 and older. Would definitely recommend for small families with young children.
Karyn Jay
Enjoyed this weekend with my family. I always feel like a big kid at the zoo so it was the perfect activity to end the summer with.
Justine Jones
Good for a small zoo, could use a bit more exotic and bigger animals like(lions, giraffe etc.) The baboons were the best!
Max Paulson
Fun, small zoo. Perfect for spending an hour or two at, or just going to walk around.
Sassy Miller
Great quick trip for children! The sea lion feeding was the best part but you have to stand around early to get a good view.
Marcello Musumeci
The zoo is quaint and dinky and unabashedly charming. I had a date with my girlfriend here, just for fun, after the burden of impressing her all the time had passed, and we had such a lovely time. Peacocks just walking around. Really lovely.
Ishaan Horwith
A very cute zoo, however, not the best if you want to see exotic animals. This zoo is located in Prospect Park, and is very small and lacks a variety of animals. They have on common zoo animals, like lions, zebras, giraffe, alligators, etc. The most exotic thing they have is an orangutan enclosure which is quite boring. Not great if you want to see exciting exotic animals.
Sherreka Lowe
It's decent although there's not much to see here. My 3yo loves visiting only to feed the animals. The baboons are my fave.
loinsworth sankarsingh
I just wish it was larger because they might have been able to have animals like lions and tigers and giraffes and rhinos. However, for its size, it's a lovely, well designed and extremely interesting place to relax. My personal favorites are the sea lion show and the peacocks which roam the grounds freely and interact with visitors in a friendly and trusting manner.
If you have several hours to spend in a relaxing, entertaining, interesting and educational environment, this zoo is well worth the price of admission. Oh, yes. Almost forgot. There are also clean bathrooms, a well-stocked cafeteria and empathetic and responsive staff.
Kavita Ramlochan
Very small but enough animals and activities to keep your little ones busy.
Darya Potor
The best zoo in Brooklyn. Very clean and beautiful
Lynn Fp
Amazing creatures & you get to learn a lot! Also there are random peacocks walking around so watch out!
L E
I had a great time. It's big enough to entertain and educate a group of 3rd graders and small enough to see in a day.
Svetlana Reyblat
Amazing experience! We ordered tickets online night before the visit.
K O
Loved this zoo!! The layout is wonderful, buildings comfortable to be in, perfect amount of animals for a Liesurly walk for adults. The zoo is clean, and employees are so sweet. Entrance fee is perfect.
The drinks were pricey so bring your own water. They don't have water refill stations though. Bring your own snacks or lunch they only have ice cream, chips, tea or coffee, bottled soda, water and juices.
Tracey R.
Hall of Animals closed for renovations. Asked the woman who was selling tickets if there were any exhibits that were closed and she said no so feel a bit mislead. Small zoo - can see everything in less than an hour. If you want a more exciting and interesting zoo, visit Bronx zoo
Ackeem Rhooms
The zoo is amazing a great place to bring children or come feel like a child as an adult it separated into 3 segments of the zoo and has sections where you can actually feed the animals. The indoor exhibit was also interesting to see and the different breeds of animals were something special even though I feel like their were not that much animals there, it was enough to make it a well worth trip to the zoo.
Adam Iannazzone
Pro tip: go during the week if you can. It’s less crowded, and the animals are much more active!
Justin Stevens
Wonderful soon for families. Just the right size. Not overwhelming for young children and very approachable exhibits. Diverse amount of animals to see and learn about.
Gina Yang
Not much animals, but is enough for little kids. A great place to spend half day.
Imani Taylor
For the size of the park i expected more from this zoo but it was a good experience . Parking was easy to find on the street
virginia mumtaz
Great zoo. Good attractions, reasonable prices.
Eleanor Miele
If you haven't been there in a long time...it's time for another visit. Happy, healthy looking small animals in social groups and enriched environments. The grounds are beautiful.
Jean Gazis
As a small zoo, it's easy to do the whole thing in a couple of hours and very accessible to young kids, so you can visit often and get to know the animals. The trail area is also a good spot for birdwatching.
Константин Мищенко
Beautiful zoo! A very exciting time to spend!
Celeste
Went here with my 1 year old. It’s the perfect half day trip! He loves looking at the sea lions. All of the animals seem happy and well cared for. The zoo itself is clean and well managed. Would recommend visiting the zoo and then heading to the children’s corner in the park!
G P
Difficult entering and leaving with stroller, entrance very far from parking, Disappointed in petting zoo ,not really much interaction with animals, overpriced and poorly stocked refreshments in gift store.feel NYC can do better
Cesar Anthony
Cute place for kids Doesn't take much to see everything Its a 1 hour stroll through the zoo.
Amy Cole
Small but nice. Stars of the show would be the sea lions and baboons!
Shawn Eng
Nice little park, not crowded, several seal feeding show daily, clean facilities. Outside the perimeter however, was a different story: between our parking spot and the entrance we passed by multiple mentally ill persons yelling at bystanders as well as homeless people on the park benches.
Kofi James
Good zoo and great location. Really good and you can see everything in about 2 hours or less depending on how fast you go through things. All indoor exhibits are cleaned frequently as groups walk through. Safe, clean, family friendly and easy access to prospect park to keep you surrounded by nature all day.
Gary Dreifus
Nice, clean zoo with helpful, friendly , courteous staff. Perfect for the little ones! Parking is a bit of a problem.
Roman
Lots and lots of fun. You will spend there at least few hours.
Queeny S
It was my first time here and I guess I expected a zoo to have some more animals in it. lol maybe they were all sleeping. We got here at 3pm and really just saw some tree animals, birds and mostly reptiles. The peacocks roaming around freely was the highlight of it all. The barn was a little more exciting. I prefer Queens Zoo over this any day!
Ana Feliciano
My daughter and I love it, went there for school trip, it wasn't crowded. Kids have lots of fun.
NYC Limo and Vintage cars
The park was clean and inviting. The staff was proactive and interactive.
Jaime Lynn Quackenbush
I love this little zoo. It has enough to see and do to feel substantial without being overwhelming. It's also beautiful. I've taken my kids several times a year for the past 8 years and went today for the first time since Covid. Their safety protocols were well established and we had a great time. The barn area and Discovery Trail are great for kids. If you go, look for the pack of roaming peacocks that seem to own the place!
David Ebert
10 years I lived in new York and overlooked this zoo. It was PERFECT for a day with my 4 and 2 year olds. I was so impressed with the variety of animals that they had for a zoo that I didn't even know was tucked away in a park I'd been to dozens of times. Right when we walked through the door we were greeted by a peacock walking around my daughter was so excited. The sea lions centered right in the middle of the zoo put on an amazing show and now my daughter wants to be a sea lion when she grows up. I could believe how close we could get to the primates as well. A baby monkey put his hand against the glass with my two-year-old son. It was an incredibly special experience and I'm so glad that this is there.
Jayme Quan-vie
Very nice for younger kids. It was not too busy and kids were able to move through the zoo freely. There is a small area to feed animals.
nm saidi
Small but wonderful. My kids loves to go once in a while
Shmuel Chaikin
Small zoo but quite nice anyways. Enjoyed walking around for a few hours with my wife and daughter. (not a full day trip)
Mehdi Sijelmassi
Kind of overpriced for $10 but still pretty fun to pass the time
krazykat
It's small but nice. Take your time as you enjoy it.
Soul of Lotus Yulia Mingazheva
Nice small clean friendly zoo. Our 20 months baby enjoyed feeding barn animals!
Jessica Ella Alston
I love to come here just to see some animals and get outside it’s a bit restricted because of covid right now. But affordable little activity to do in the city.
Jessica James
Beautiful zoo, my son and I loved every minute of our trip especially the peacocks walking around. Hidden gem and super affordable
Larry Santee
Very nice zoo with most animals I didnt know they existed; the little ones will like it and parents knowing that its safe, small enough, just right for smaller kids. As an adult i enjoyed being in a park environment and also being right in Brooklyn..worth a visit for any age!!! Go right around 930-10am if your parking; after 10am you can park no standing signs.
Matthew Hanagan
Pretty fun spot although quite small. Good for kids.
Luis Gonzalez
Not as big as the bronx zoo but still cheaper in price and your child well love it
Wyatt Beougher
Surprisingly expansive zoo for being nestled away in Brooklyn. The enclosures were well-maintained and the animals appeared to be in good health overall.
Raelynn
Honestly Prospect park is worth $9.Its not big but its big enough to enjoy. What I didn't like was how there was barely any animals and that kids were all over the place.Parents were not watching there kids so be mindful of that.Other than that I liked it.
Moishy Schwartz
Beautiful place for kids
Loved to see the new baby monkey
Joanna Louis Goodridge
Lovely zoo..but I believe they can add more animals..my kids loved feeding the ducks and doves and turtles
Tina T
Small but enjoyable. Love the seal shows and those beautiful peacocks roaming free. Totally worth it ..recommended.
David Chambers
Members for a decade but we haven't been in a while. We were surprised that we needed to make a reservation to limit the amount of people inside but we were still accommodated. Great place to spend a few hours doing something different. Probably not enough stimulation for older kids but bring them anyway as they get some exercise and can get to feed some of the animals. Street parking available on Flatbush Ave depending on what time you arrive and the day.
Itx Venom
It’s beautiful I took my girl friend there and she enjoy it and it’s in a good area with all these plays to eat when your done in case your wondering they have mc Donald’s ,Wendy’s ,checkers and Popeyes it’s beautiful
Jessie Serre
Very well kept, and a fun, intimate experience for the kids.
Kacper Jarecki
Very cute little zoo. They have red pandas!!!
Africa Fannis
Not how it used to be but still a place to visit especially with the little ones..
Moishy Freund
Great place to air out or have a good time with family & kids..
Lisa Monaco
Cute little zoo, perfect for small children and babies. Currently some indoor exhibits remain including the area that houses the fennec fox. You can easily see everything in under 2 hours. Kids will especially like the barn and the trail as well the sea lions although no feedings are taking place during public hours
Ahmad Tayel
Small and good for quick fast visit
Sunny Liu
Very nice little zoo in Brooklyn, when we visit the Brooklyn botanic garden, we always stop by this zoo. It is cross street from the garden.
Divyam Bansal
The Prospect Park Zoo is a 12-acre zoo located off Flatbush Avenue on the eastern side of Prospect Park, Brooklyn, New York City. As of 2016, the zoo houses 864 animals representing about 176 species, and as of 2007, it averages 300,000 visitors annually. The Prospect Park Zoo is operated by the Wildlife Conservation Society. In conjunction with the Prospect Park Zoo's operations, the WCS offers children's educational programs, is engaged in restoration of endangered species populations, runs a wildlife theater, and reaches out to the local community through volunteer programs. Its precursor, the Menagerie, opened in 1890. The present facility first opened as a city zoo on July 3, 1935, and was part of a larger revitalization program of city parks, playgrounds and zoos initiated in 1934 by Parks Commissioner Robert Moses. It was built, in large part, through Civil Works Administration and Works Progress Administration labor and funding. After 53 years of operation as a city zoo run by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, Prospect Park Zoo, also colloquially known as "Brooklyn Zoo", closed in June 1988 for reconstruction.
Andras Szerencses
Not a huge but an awesome place. It's clear and enjoyable.
Valerie Davis
Not as large as some zoos...but we had a great experience. The barn rocks! Sheep, goats, cows, pigs, and even alpaca!
Ivelis Medina
This visit is affordable and exciting. It is safe to come and visit. They are following the CDC Guidelines. Lots of hand sanitizer stations. You can interact with the animals by feeding them. Bring quarters to buy the food from a machine 50 cents. It is great for all ages.
Ruby Miller
Took my 4 year old and had a great time. I haven't been here in about 10 years, maybe more. We really enjoyed the barn and the birds. It wasn't overly packed and the staff was very helpful. We will be returning again soon.
Mike Steevens (Mikee)
It's a very small but awesome zoo & those Sea Lions r such characters, I really enjoyed it because i wasn't here in like 10 years or more & it was also on a very quiet day & perfect weather, so i had a blast & look forward 2 coming again in the future. Awesome place 4 kids as well with a petting zoo. I remember when we were little kids we used 2 come here on our holiday season & enjoyed it.
Nicole Salmon
Fun and interactive place for curious little minds.
San y
A small zoo located near downtown Brooklyn. Good for small kids for a visit.
Not many big animals in the zoo given its small size.
Not stroller-friendly entering and exiting the zoo since there is no elevator but a long stairs by the entrance. needs to hand-carry the stroller up and down the stairs which is a pain.
Adeel Paul
Great place to calm down and enjoy natures beauty.
Andrew Ringel
While the zoo is on the small side there is still lots of fun. The discovery tail is a nice scenic walk with lots of interesting animals including dingos in red pandas. The Barn is also lots of fun were you get to feed and pet animals. What's really nice about it being small is you can see the whole thing in one day. If you want fun for the whole family this is the place to go.
STEPHEN HENSHAW
Great little Zoo and a great place to go if you're trying to get away from the big crowds of the Bronx Zoo!
Austin Nixon
It's not big. But it's just the right size to see everything in a long afternoon visit. There are in door and out door exhibits that are well laid out. On a crisp late fall weekday it was just the thing to get our little guy out of the house. Almost all the animals were out and it was not crowded at all. Their covid precautions made us feel very safe and welcomed.
Davison John
Great experience love it
merlin takashie
It's small zoo but worth it, especially baboons

The prospect zoo is decent and has a small feeding area for the kids to feed some animals. The indoor attractions area closed. The zoo feels like a walk through a park with the sights of limited animals. I prefer white post farms due to the engagement it allows for the kids. The prospect zoo and the other city zoos are past it's prime and should be re-imagined for today's kids.
kenny bowell
Great scenery . Kid friendly. Polite staff members. Similar to central park zoo.
I wish there was a hot food option but the gift shop is nice. Also close to the prospect park carousel.

This is a small zoo. It has many beautiful peacocks, red pandas, a interesting baboon troupe, many tamarin monkeys, hornbills
Samah Awad
Different types of animals
Great place to make many of memories and take many pictures
Debbie Grosser
Wonderful small zoo. Good for all seasons.
B Young
The newly reopened zoo is very efficiently setup, with the entrance and exit loc8by the carousel. The zoo is now setup in a series of one ways to maximize the flow and allow visitors a clear path to visit and see all of the exhibits. Nearly everything was open on my September 5 visit. Sadly no Sea Lion feedings, but, the petting zoo was open and feedings were available there.

Was very fun tye exhibits were great and the staff was very informative and interactive with children
Renee Rodriguez
The price is right for this small but lovely zoo. They do a wonderful job of making it feel as natural as it can, with animals which are far out of reach but easily viewable. The animals also have plenty of room or a shelter when they want to retreat from the humans.
My only criticism is the price point of everything in the cafe--needs to be about a dollar less for everything in there.
Also, once you are inside they do not do a good job at all of ensuring everyone is wearing their masks. I watched twice as Security personnel loped along, looked at whole families with their masks around their necks, and didn't say a word to them about putting their masks back on or keeping a 6-foot minimum distance. They need to get on that.

My 4 year old son just had his birthday party here arranged through the zoo. It was amazing and there were 3 zoo staff members helping out that made it easy for us to actually have fun and not sweat logistics the whole time. They got to pet a snake, a turtle and a ferret and then feed the sheep and goats. The zoo staff made it highly fun and interactive. Way to go and thank you to Darlene! Additionally, this is a great small zoo that kids will love. If you are set on seeing big animals like giraffes and hippos you need to head to the BX zoo.
Johnny
I love zoos. Visit one on most vacations
Gabriela Reyes
Love, small but has a good amount of exhibits.
ronald howard
Nice and small zoo with so much to see. My toddler loved it!
Jason Murray
Great place to spend a few hours with the kids. Definitely plan to watch one of the sea lion feeding shows. As of August 2021, tickets need to be purchased online, not in person.

Native New Yorker— from Queens. Been to Bronx (too big to navigate with or without kids), Manhattan (parking a nightmare as expected but overall nice), a Queens (mediocre not thoughtfully designed). Prospect park zoo is our favorite! Small enough but thoughtfully designed which made the one way route for covid easy for them. Spent an hour there with two kids 4 and 2 years old. Few tips for COVID. the website seemed to say you must have advance online tickets but if not at capacity they were still selling tickets at the gate. The gate being the prospect park entrance (children’s corner sign— no sign mentioning/confirming this was the new temporary entrance) not the Flatbush ave one (I thought someone would be at the main entrance to guide but nope and some people couldn’t find it for a long time). Secondly, people mentioned the indoor spaces were closed. Now as of Aug 26th I saw at least two indoor spaces open but there was a 10 people capacity so a line was formed outside for the hall of animals and another one I can’t remember. And lastly till sept 7th all essential workers are FREE to all zoos as a thank you— so grateful for this! Use the code hero2020!

Having been to far more exciting zoos, this one is a bit boring. The kids enjoyed the baboons and the sea lions but not much else. There are no large animals in this zoo. The carousel was closed as it is only open for specific months during the year. There is a section with barn animals but you are not allowed in the fence with the animals and you pay fifty cents for goat food and literally get four small pebble sizes of animal food.
Make sure to bring food and drinks if you come because there is one small food shop with snacks and it is seriously overpriced.
There was a whole group of parents and children waiting to watch the sea lion feeding at 2:00. After fifteen minutes, a security guard decided to finally tell us that the schedule had been changed and the next feeding would be at 3:30.
I remember coming to this zoo with my school as a child and having many more interactive projects and activities....
A bit of a let down for the parents, but still interesting enough for very young children.
Elena Alimova
My kid's favorite zoo. Just book your ticket in the morning and you can see all animals. Also, they have a little farm animal section where kids can feed goats and lamas. And tickets are not expensive as a Central park zoo.
Mila Sokol
Very nice place, the only cons are almost all visiting places are closed in the Zoo now. You will be just walking around, not a lot of animals and birds to see.
Cliff Resnick
The zoo is well maintained and lots of fun. It's more low-key, not sprawling, so it's doable in a couple of hours of that's all you have, and a good scale for kids. Beautiful flora abounds and animals seem happy for the most part, but I do wish they'd let that bobcat go.
Yolo .Vision
Small but enjoyed my visit. Knowledgeable staff and wondering animals.🤗 …
Ahmed Nagaty
Amazing place for kids, they love it 🥰 …
Yehudis Milstein
It's great for small children that need to be indoors. Everything is just the right amount for small children. The bathroom was very clean. Every exhibit the children are able to go very close and the animals are interactive. The baboon exhibit was exciting for the young children. The zoo is also scenic you can take nice pictures with your family. The seal show was entertaining. There were a lot of nice places to sit and eat. The petting zoo was clean and the animals were friendly. The peacocks were friendly as well.We enjoyed our visit.
Yann Trudel
Great Zoo, the entry wasn't much, and not too long to do the round
Inga Aliakskina
Great zoo for toddlers, it is quite small, but animals are really close to each other, you can also feed farm animals and watch swimming sea lions in the pool. It has also a very engaging glass cage for monkeys. It is a whole family with playful babies, tired mommies and serious daddies. You can watch them for hours!
Jennifer Zivkovich
It's a small zoo but I feel like that works better for the kids because they can see everything and stay as long as they want in one place without me feeling the need to bug them about moving on so we can see more. This is definitely a quick trip. If you're an adult looking for a nice zoo trip then this may not be for you, you should probably go to the bronx zoo
Jose R Lopez
Very nice location and the small zoo just adds for a day visit, get ready for a walking tour. My dad use to bring me here as kids, I've took my kids as well. This was very different zoo back then from when my dad took us. It's been updated nowadays. If your into family time spent in an outing, then this is for you. Plus you also have the Brooklyn Botanical Garden across the street to also enjoy, if you want to continue your family outing.
It's a bit expensive and that's why I gave it four stars. So learn to save like I have. Buy your yearly membership pass that best fits your needs. It's also good for Bronx zoo, Central Park zoo and New York Aquarium. So four places to visit in a year time. Parking is free for Bronx zoo and NY Aquarium. Plus I pack up lunch/sandwiches, snakes, fruits and drinks; head back to the car for lunch time to eat. That's just another way to save money. You also get 10% off on shops and food purchases with your membership pass.
Li You
The zoo was well maintained, it was not big but full of charm. We were lucky enough to catch the sea lion feeding time, I Salute the staff working on the Christmas day and being so professional. Highly recommended if you are visiting Brooklyn.
Shiane G.
If you go with your child, as most do then it's five stars because kids are fascinated with almost anything, which is great. But you even then you could see everything, even if you stop to feed the farm animals for a while in about 10 or 15min. Definitely a one time thing, because it doesn't leave a feeling of wanting to come back at least not with my son. He was more wanting to go back for the gift shop than the zoo itself. That being said, it's a nice thing to do with your family.
Steacy Curry
Not a ton to see, but worth the small entrance fee (about 10 bucks). You navigate yourself through this quaint zoo and really have the luxury of time and space to do it at your leisure. We were able to sit in the baboon area for quite some time so we could feed our daughter and watch the animals play. Different areas of the grounds felt really disconnected like the barn and the trail, but it was still easy to get through. Main entrance is NOT stroller friendly, so you have to go through the other entrance (that you won’t know about on your own) or lug your stroller down several stairs. Staff were lovely though, coffee at the cafe was terrible but the gift shop was small and cute. Legitimate food options would have been appreciated, but I don’t think this is a busy time of year for them anyways. Definitely go for the indoor exhibits! Especially since it’s across the street from the botanical gardens and everything over there is currently dead!
Toni Celestina
I love this zoo especially the petting zoo which I'm sure is closed due to Covid. But it's such a great zoo if you have little ones that get tired easily because it is small. Me and my family love to have lunch picnics right after! Definitely a must go!
Gene Smith
A great small zoo for the whole family. The sea lion exhibition is great. Kids will love them.
Ashley Francois
The most perfect small zoo for my 20 month old
Matt Seabrook
This zoo far exceeded expectations! We went on a bit of a rainy day, but there were absolutely no crowds so it was a very comfortable experience. Both the indoor and outdoor exhibits had an interesting array of animals, and this zoo was far less depressing than most I've been too - the animals all seemed relatively comfortable (at least as much as animals in a zoo can be).
Matthew Hart
Great zoo in Brooklyn in Prospect Park
Sara Key
Need something to do with your kids on a weekend or by vacation?!
This is the ideal place to go!
This is a zoo full of different types of creaters, animals and more! They have plenty of interactive things for the kids. There is an outdoor lunch area! There is a sea lion show which all kids love! To cover everything on the zoo you abound go a couple of times. Decent pricing. And a convenient Location. The only problem is parking.
This is such a good thing to have in our community!
Fayanna Jarrett
The little ones had fun, I enjoyed the sea lion show and the walk throughout the park. Nice little Zoo to view a few animals. The girls especially loved the Barb yard and the sea lion show. We walked to one of the playgrounds and spent the rest of the afternoon there.
Arthur Smile
Hall of animals is now under renovation (that's 1/4 of the zoo) 12/26/21. The Sea Lions are always nuce as well as the alpaca who never turns down treats. The only large exibit are the baboons.
J N
Not a very big zoo, but a decent variety of animals. They have a red panda and two pallas’s cats which I haven’t seen in an American zoo before. Some of the buildings are closed because they’re not big enough to distance in. The buildings that are opened are capacity-controlled in addition to the zoo itself requiring timed-entry tickets. The lines to get in the buildings moved quickly so not a bother and it was nice that the whole zoo wasn’t packed. There’s a barnyard area where kids can feed the animals.
Philip Borycens
Small zoo but perfect for a couple of hours of strolling. Loved how the peacocks just wander around. One of the things I learned there is that some animals survive much longer in a zoo and enjoy a better quality of life because of being so well cared for. There's a good variety of creatures from both land and sea. I highly recommend it for whenever the weather is good!
Edward Aminov
Excellent small zoo. With a small but great selection of animals, birds sea lions. Has a nice petting zoo inside. My 2 year old daughter loves this zoo because it is not overwhelming, small and never crowded. We go there almost every weekend.
D jojic
G reat place to visit with kids . Children under 2 have free access and for adolts the tickets to are pretty cheap. We Always have a great time .
Carly Somers
Great experience! I don't know why it says people spend up to 30 minutes here, because I was there for an hour and a half! Nice variety of animals with fun activities like sea lion feedings and a barn where you can feed sheep, goats and cows. For a smaller zoo it has a lot to offer and I would absolutely recommend! Cute animals seem happy and the staff are knowledgeable.
clarissa krigger
We didnt go to the zoo but we got see the peacock's!!!! Now I really want to go to the zoo. I haven't been to the zoo in years.
Marc DeTomaso
It was on my bucket list, and I loved every part of it. I think everyone should make a trip here at least once. Bring sun screen and extra water just in case. If you need vitamins or supplements you can save yourself time and money by getting them at mphs.gethealthy.store
Angel Zhou
This is a pretty small zoo that you can plan to enjoy for an hour or two. Kids love the petting zoo and the baboon mountain. The nice thing about the layout is that all the exhibits are pretty close to each other. Kids can see all of them. In a big zoo, it is impossible to get to see everything in one visit.
Catherine Carlisle
Small but super cute. Worth the price. Great for kids!
Michael Castellano
A small but very well kept zoo in prospect park is perfect for kids (and adults) to visit while enjoying the park. Though walk-ins are allowed, you may get shut out if capacity inside exceeds limits.
Alrighty 1
It's just a nice place and the nicest thing about it is seeing the kids having fun and of course, screaming everywhere as loud as they can😊😇😇😊... …
kika Lemus
Small but entertaining. The sandwich prices though 8 bucks for a tuna sandwich too much! We did everything in 2 hrs! My son loved to feed the duck will defently recommend.
Mignon Fatta
Small, intimate zoo. They have a lot of cold weather animals on display which was good as it was a very cold day when I went, it only needed the snow leopards to be complete. I loved it, make sure to see the sea lion show.
CHRISTINA JETTER
Clean, open and a lot of fun. No matter your age.
Traci
This zoo is perfect for small kids and big kids alike. Not exactly the place to spend an entire day, but if you get there early enough, you can do the entire zoo in a three hours without crowds. Make sure you check out the sea lion feeding schedule and my personal favorite, the gopher holes. Sure, adults may be a bit big to be squeezing in there but you won't want to miss out on that photo opp.
LuckySuePro
A place to bring kids so they can learn about animals..
Jacob Levin
Food was what you would call, zoo food, but otherwise interesting place to visit, and cool animals. Along with nice smart staff.
Dmitriy S
Nice place to take kids to show them around. Grounds are not huge so it can be a quick trip.
Green Family HQ
I think the booking system has improved the flow of being able to see the indoor creatures easily. The sea lion show you isn't in but I think the ability to have space and see the animals more than makes up for it. Stop off at high grade coffee which opened as covid hit for an excellent coffee and pastries (near the station) . The shop in the zoo is open and you can buy little ones and adults animal masks for $5 a big selection.
Abdul Aziz
Nice and small zoo to go with family.
Kids would love it. Not many wild animals like lions, tiger, giraffes, etc but you can feed goats, sheeps and lamas.
Bryan V
Nice small zoo and can see under an hour. Minus a star if you don’t like poor attitude of young staffers at front. Also online ticketing rules and procedures are out of date.
Nancy Vega
Animals are in good care, Is really enjoyable.
Suanne Lee
A small compact zoo that keeps kids entertained for about 2-3 hours. Best for kids under 10 I think, since there is less to see/do than Bronx. Good number of spots are wooded so have bug spray. Sea lions and the baboons are the best exhibits.
chama sklar
Small, but a fun hour or two. I'm sure it's closed now, but I went a few months back. They have a nice mix of indoor & outdoor animals. They also have a nice gift shop to buy snacks or trinkets. It is small, but it's right near a historical house & prospect park if you want more to do.
Peter Lin
Small. You get what you paid for. It's good for a quick thing to do
Odalys Jimenez
The animals were showing out. Also they were enjoying the nice sunny weather. The zoo was very organized and ensured enough distance of the people that were there for a nice experience.
Eve Mosher
This is a small zoo in comparison to something like the Bronx Zoo, but it is so nice to have a zoo in the brooklyn park. I like that each borough has a zoo. And they are all under one umbrella, so a membership (reasonably priced) gets you in everywhere. This zoo feels neighborly and is a great spot for young kids. There are just enough exhibits to be interesting, but not so many to be overwhelming. I wish the food options were better, but they don't frown on you bringing your own food. I also miss the wallaby walk through area (where they ran free) but the petting zoo is still great.
Jack Kool
Always lovedddddd, the brooklyn zoo. So many animals to see and enjoy your day.
I haven't been too this zoo in years. I'm hopeful taking my nephew or my daughter very soon. I always had a great time at the zoo. Taking pictures in front the animals or windows. Eating good food chilling with good company.. plz enjoy
Finch
Suuuuuch a good time! Free roaming peacocks, sea lions in the center plaza, indoor pavilions with reptiles and inviting nature trails to explore. There's a petting and feeding zoo with barn animals. Entrance is $10 per adult and kids under 3 are free. Really fun thing to do in BK with the kids. Smoke parking right outside on street bordering the park provided you get there early.
David Green
Brought our FasTracKids Preschool for a visit. Was met at the gate and signed in, no problems. Met by a professional guide and nice helper. She had good cheer and expertise and patience for 10 young children. Made our visit smooth. Fun zoo for small children. A Lot of variety of animals to see, learn about and feed! Only minor gripe was a very limited & somewhat expensive cafeteria, so next time we would bring our own food. Otherwise, a first class operation, recommended visit for young children.
Mellissa Lezama
Beautiful zoo with lots of cool animals and fun stuff for kiddos to see and enjoy.
Chandra
Great zoo for small children. Older kids may prefer a larger zoo like the Bronx. Good inside and outside spaces to view the animals. Make sure you have singles to exchange for quarters that way you can use it to buy pellets for the animals to eat.
Jeffrey Rozwadowski
This small zoo has a nice collection of animals, including Pallas' cats, hamadryas baboons, and dingoes. The barn and discovery walk are especially nice for children.
Lyndsey Koenig-Goncalves
Excellent little zoo, perfect for the younger kid set. Beautiful in the park. At times you feel like you’re walking through a peaceful forest. Good variety of animals. Staff friendly and informative.
Charles Pifer
A small and quaint zoo. Great for young kids as the seals and wandering free range peacocks are very charming. Admittedly, we did not see the whole place as we arrived about 40 minutes before closing. The food options and gift shop are a disappointment, run down and haphazardly setup, so make other plans for this before or after visiting. Great location, but be warned that Google may point you towards the inaccessible rear of the zoo which if on foot leads you through the park and then a series of increasingly densely vegitated Forest paths that will make you question whether you are on the right track, or possibly even still in Brooklyn.
Karen Quackenbush
I was amazed by how many animals and exhibits were there. A great use of space. Well designed and well maintained. Delightfully interactive for young children. Knowledgeable docents are available in each area to answer questions about particular occupants. So much to see and learn.
Chuck “John” Pulumbo
It was a nice experience. It's worth the couple dollars. Lots of learning activities for kids. The seal feeding was entertaining. The monkeys are a must see. There isn't a whole lot. It's difficult to make it an all day affair, but it was a fun time for my family and I.
Adam Segal-Isaacson
Great small zoo. Good for short trips. Lots of smaller animals indoors and out, including farm animals and ducks you can feed. Watch the sea lions be fed in the afternoon (check schedule). No larger animals (elephants, big cats, bears, etc)--for that go to the Bronx Zoo. Prospect Park Zoo is great for a short trip with small children. Warning: the cafeteria has only snacks essentially. Bring lunch if your trip covers lunchtime. There are tables outside where you can eat.
Lizbeth Arce
It's great for young kids ages 1-7. I say that because it is a small zoo. Nothing really wrong about that, but with the older kids they would get bored. The petting zoo is always a great way to end the day here.
Mirbek Toktobekov
Great place to bring your kids!
Ken Kumayama
Here for a birthday party. Perfect day for preschoolers!
Brian Diaz
Not a big zoo however for little children to run around, see and feed a few animals overall a good experience. Staff are very friendly and professional, and keeping on top of covid precautions.
Ben Guy
Really nice. Small but beautiful.
Netasha Hendon
Small zoo but nice.
Eugene Summers
We were astounded at how much the zoo offered for such a low ticket price. The aviary, sea lion exhibit, and monkey enclosures were all fantastic. We were able to leisurely take about 500 pictures in two hours on an April Saturday and we were never crowded.
Maddy Griebel
Zoo is small but well kept. Lots of indoor exhibits with smaller animals, areas to feed animals with food from crank machines. Sea lion training is really fun, get there early for a good spot. No cooked food, only snacks.
Naziha Halkoum
We enjoyed being there with the kids
Andy Ebbin
Great zoo with a variety of animals, fish and lizards. Not very expansive and mostly indoors, so it's good for rainy or cold days. Very kid-oriented with a great nature trail, duck pond, and big petting zoo. Not a full day activity but a great time nonetheless.
Justin Anselm
A small but nice zoo to visit for a really fair price.
Cha
Yay! Love the petting zoo. Also, close to the carousel, so makes a great day out with a little one. I wish there were better options for food so we can comfortably spend the day there without having to lug our own food. But overall, love our local zoo!
Jack Sparrow
Perfect for a quick zoo trip like 2 3 hours tops and your outta there
Amethyst Adventures
I haven't been here in a long time but I wasn't disappointed. Beautifully remodeled, clean and well staffed.
Alba Cocco
Not much animals to see but friendly staff.
Beerinder Rodey
Great zoo for kids. Small but a decent variety of animals to see. My kid particularly like feeding the turtles, ducks and goats. Street parking is tough and last admittance is until 5 on a weekend, despite hours listed indicate 5:30.
J. D.
Best to go on a cool day weather-wise, or you may not see some of the animals because it's too hot for them. This is no fault of the Zoo. They have some pretty good exhibits here, 🦇,🐍,🦎,🐟,🦔,🐆(Pallas cat) to name a few. They also have a Dingo, which is pretty cool. Lots of 🐒 at this Zoo also, and they have a sea lion exhibit. You can see them get fed. It's a good Zoo if you have small children, not to big to be overwhelming. They have activities for them too. It's, not the Bronx or San Diego zoo, but it's a good place to visit.
Erika Perez
Nice small zoo preferably for younger children I think $8 for adults children younger than 3 are free. They have peacocks roaming freely throughout the zoo and there's always staff guarding them, say hi to Baldy for me! He's the only one with no feathers on his head
Sabrina Simmons
My grandkids had a wonderful time!
Devi Priya Jain
A small zoo that can be covered in half a day; very clean and I love their idea of kids stop (I don’t remember the exact name) there. We’ve to stop at 6 different places set by them, all through the zoo, where they’ll ask us/kids some questions (related to animals/nature) and explain the answer (like how can duck eat in water etc)
Loved the sea lion show
Pedro Fombellida
Great place for kids and adults alike. It's a beautiful example of landscaping and a great source knowledge. Our kids loved the hands-on activities and all the programs there. The staff is really knowledgeable and friendly which makes the experience worth the while. Not a large park but definitely but a great child memory for sure!
Arlyss Troge
Excellent little Zoo that can be visited in a couple of hours. Be sure to time it so you can observe the sea lions' training/feeding!
Anastasiia Dehtiarenko
Nice and small zoo. Again, red pandas are the best.
Craig Corbeels
A small, decent zoo if you're in the area. For $8 it's not bad. Not a huge amount of animals, and they don't have some that you may expect to see like big cats, bears, etc. They have a petting / feeding area with farm animals, which is nice. I think it would be a good zoo to visit if you have children with you, otherwise I'd probably skip it and head to a bigger zoo in the area.
Grace Miller
Loved it. Many different species and very organized 👌.
Katari Sporrong
Red pandas! River otters! Feed sheep and an alpaca! So many neat birds and bats and tiny monkeys. This is a cute little zoo with interactive elements. Came here for my very low key bachelorette party. Great spot.
Katharine Critchlow
The perfect sized zoo for little kids. Sea lion shows are super cute. One note - there's not much in the way of food. Best to bring your own lunch.
David Jones
This is a great place to take young children to learn about monkeys, dingos, sheep, frogs, swans, ducks, birds, sea lions, and more. On Saturday try two o'clock entry because parking on street became easier when we left around this time.
Danny Hayden
It's tough to rate any zoo. If compared to the Bronx zoo, it doesn't compete. If you are looking for a smaller zoo that you can cover it all in a shorter amount of time, it's great. Be sure to visit the web site to know the animals that are there, and aren't there. It's a nice clean park. One thing they can do to improve is get some items for the very very small gift shop. It's pretty non existent. We were there to buy and left mostly empty handed but for a few lil things. Also have to street park as they have no lot.
Sarah Campbell
Great little quarter-day zoo. Very small but filled with interesting animals. The only complaint I have is the fact that there were at least 3 exhibits closed which is a fairly large percentage considering the smallness of the zoo.
Themis Thomassin
I was doing a semester abroad in New York from Germany, and was staying in an Airbnb in Brooklyn. After exploring Brooklyn a bit I finally visited prospect park (which I loved) and finally the zoo!
With all the hustle and bustle of the city it was nice to find a clam place to just relax a little. I also visited Central Park zoo, which was great too, but there were sooo many tourists and people. The good thing about prospect park zoo is a lot of it's visitors are actual people living there and it's not as crowded and full. It's quite a small zoo, but it was worth it! Me being an animal lover I loved spending time there - throughout my semester abroad I went back quite a few times so I highly recommend visiting it if you're nearby!

It's a cozy parknot too many animals to see--but the sea lions are just great and even in winter it is a good place to take a walk. my personal favourite are all the beautiful peacocks--gives a surreal effect for an Indian woman to see them in the heart of Brooklyn!
Dainna Mcmillon
Great first experience for my baby girl. She loved it. Just wish it was bigger.
Tommy Valentine
Too the family and had a great time
Zhanna Kaykova
Beautiful zoo. There is a lot to see. There are peacocks freely roaming around. My favorite part about the zoo is is it’s size. It’s big enough to keep young children engaged and small enough to get home in time for naps.
A I
My babies loves this zoo. This place is quiet, not crowded. Bring quarters so you can buy food to feed cows, sheeps and piglets. There is only 1 problem main entrance has too many stairs. I am recommending to buy tickets online so you can enter from other side of park.
Chantal Mitchell
This zoo is small and barely entertaining. The only thing my kids enjoyed was feeding the goats. This zoo needs more interactive material to keep children and adults invloved.
Cass Kelly
Great experience for smaller kiddos. Only issue, there are stairs to enter the park. May not be suitable for those alone with strollers or in wheelchairs, unless there is another accessible entrance. Fun watching the peacocks walk freely around the park.
Jennifer Rangel
It's a simple park but with a few charming extras like the carousel and zoo. Many paths within the park its easily to get lost quickly if you're not paying attention lol. Perfect for picnics, families or a run, etc.
It's a great escape from the busy streets!
Rachel Marks
Cute little Zoo but parking is such a pain and yet the walk really far into the park itself before you even get to the zoo
Stephanie K
Really nice little zoo in the middle of Brooklyn. My first time there and we had a nice time. There was only a few other people there so it was almost as if we had the place to ourselves. Bring your own food/drink if you would like, as their choices are extremely limited. I love the old buildings and history as well.
Richard Hince
Very small zoo, although there are some nicely presented exhibits. As usual though I felt somewhat sorry for some of the animals especially one very lonely looking cat. I visited in winter, naturally the experience would be far better in summer.
Matthew Jones
We took our summer camp classes to Prospect Park Zoo as a field trip. For the most part, as things are with kids, they enjoyed it. It was a very hot day and there happened to be a few camps there at once. The Zoo is not the biggest so it did feel a bit cramped. One big downside is the lack of water fountains around the park and kids get tired and thirsty very quickly on a hot day.
Oleg Polovets
Great place to escape from big busy city. You can feed the birds and animals that always brings joy to kids and adults. The zoo is conveniently located in Prospect Park, so you can spend some extra time with Nature after the visit to the zoo.
Steven Kreger
It was very good small but worth the visit
Howard Accurso
I went with my grandson who is seven. We especially liked walking along the Discovery Trail and the gift shop which offered a fine selection of toys at reasonable prices. Don't miss feeding the ducks and swans. Healthy food is available in coin operated dispensers. Several peacocks roam around the grounds showing off their plumage and of course that's what peacocks do best.
Mahmoud Rabah
Great little zoo. The layout is comfortable and relaxed. The exhibits are clean and interesting. The price of admission is reasonable. It's just a really nice zoo that's terrific for kids.
Colleen F
For the size of the zoo it is nice. Most of the animals are kept inside, which is rare for zoos these days. They do have a petting zoo area where you can feed the animals. My favorite was the peacock today had free range of the entire place.
Denise Williams
This is from previous visits why l gave this rating, unfortunately l was not able to go inside. I didn’t realize you cannot go in anymore without purchasing your ticket online. I was so stoked but that joy turned into disappointment. I had my cousin from Jamaica visiting at the time and l wanted her to see what l told her prior about the zoo.Prospect Park and The Bronx Zoo are the only zoos l will visit. Prospect Park Zoo see you soon, again, with my online ticket!!

The zoo is not that big but they do have a good amount of animals there. They have the sea lions in the middle once you enter the zoo. They have indoor exhibits and a few outdoor exhibits. They have a feeding area where you can feed sheep. Its 50 cents for the food to feed the aninals. They have a change machine if you need change. They also have a barn area on the other side. There are peacocks that roam freely. They have a small gift shop with food but i would suggest that you bring your own. They have outdoor seating to eat and 3 small tables inside the gift shop / cafe to sit.

It’s a mini zoo. But a great place for Brooklyn residents to go with kids. Sea lion feeding was interesting.
Entry price is reasonable, roadside parking is usually available with a little effort.

Cute zoo and everything. Had a great time.
But the food/consessions at the store were way overpriced, you can maybe buy one drink. The dippin dots come in bags instead of cups and its like $5 for one little pouch. Thats insane.

Prospect Park Zoo (and the park as a whole) is a terrific place to visit, whether for a walk or jog in the park, family outings, or just to visit the zoo and to see the exotic animals there. Accessible via the Franklin Avenue shuttle or the B48 bus. Located in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, NY.

Small but nice famiky-friendly local zoo. My daughter loves it.

The main court yard with the sea lions is really nice. A much more grandiose view/entrance than the Queens zoo. I think overall the Queens Zoo is better but the sea lion show is much better than the Queens one. They actually have a commentator. I guess you could say that the sea lion is their main attraction.
The zoo is just really really small but how can you blame them when there's so many zoo's in the same city. The discovery trail is okay. Not a lot of animals and there's too much fencing (not as good for photography). The Queens Zoo doesn't have a lot of fencing at all.
The souvenir shop is dismal. I think my kitchen is bigger than the gift shop. Not much to look at or buy.
The "cafeteria" area is just vending machines. I guess it's too expensive to have a real grill there. They do have a kosher vending machine.
One good thing is that there's TONS of AC in all the little buildings surrounding the main courtyard. You can see all sorts of animals and critters, but the dirtiness of the glass affects the quality of your photos.
The "Barn" area (or petting zoo) is small too. The Queens Zoo is much bigger but I feel like the animals here are more attentive and interact more with the humans. One interesting display is that the children can learn how to milk cows. They have 3 wooden cows filled with water and they have stools for kids to sit to pretend to milk the cow.
The only reason I'd come back here is for the Red Panda. The panda was hiding and I didn't get any photos of him/her. The dingo here is pretty neat. Not as shy as some other animals.
Parking on Flatbush Ave is free. Just have to walk quite a bit to the entrance.

Very good for kids. My two little ones didn’t want to leave and spent hours enjoying the animals. We have been to several zoos both in NYC and around Washington DC but this one is really among the best.

Don't get lost! While maps works in the park...it is easy to wander and become turned around. There are plenty of benched, trees, grassy areas. There are playgrounds and of course, the zoo. Please don't litter - take your trash with you.
Oh! and it is easily accessible from several train stops. Nice in any weather.

Cool sea lions, wonderful exhibits, great animals. The baboon butts are hard to take but this is a great 2 hour trip to see some wonderful stuff.
Pretty affordable admission. No food so bring your own but they let you eat what you bring.
go to the carousel while you visit. Kids love it.
don't miss sheep shearing!!!

So so much fun. My toddler loves to walk around and see all the animals even though we go there so often. Its fun and entertaining especially the pathways, feeding the animals and the sea lion

Nice zoo but it's quite small

My Toddler absolutely loves this place!!! It’s fun and interesting, but not so big that he needs to be carried like at the Bronx Zoo! The petting zoo section is world class as well.

Great zoo. Red panda is great.

Very relaxing place to enjoy with your family. It’s probably one of my favorite Zoo’s in NYC. They don’t even over charge like most places in NY - $8 for adults and ONLY $5 for children. It’s a smaller Zoo than other locations but it’s a must go!

It is a pretty place. It is also a very small zoo with few exhibits: a small aquarium with about ten fish, a cat, few birds, few monkeys. Outside they have a couple of sea lions, some goats to feed with pallets you buy a small handful/50c. It is good for very young children, probably up to agree 7. If anyone is in a stroller, be prepared to carry it down and back up the steps to get in/out of the park (doable if you are two young parents). It is a pretty little park, but expensive, especially if you need to cut it short because the kid is cranky. Parking in the area is worse than most places.

Kids like it. We have been there more than once. They have a petting zoo and activities for the kids. There is a scheduled Sea Lion feeding and training. Loved the huge glass wall where you can sit and watch the monkeys.

Perfectly lovely zoo in Prospect Park with sea lions at the centre, outdoors, and various indoor sections to visit and see baboons, tamarins, frogs, some fish, turtles, snakes, etc. There are peacocks roaming the grounds. You could move through the space within a half hour if you aren't stopping long at each exhibit so there's plenty of time to stop.and watch the animals you're most taken with for as long as you like. Make sure your kids aren't expecting to see lions and elephants and bears though!

This a small zoo but my family and I love it. The sea lions, red panda, birds in the Aviary, ducks and geese at the pond and Boris the Pallas Cat are particular favorites of mine. There is a nice combination of fun activities for kids and informational text for older children and adults. The teacher PD workshop that I attended here was among the best I've ever participated in. Well worth a visit during a trip to Prospect Park!

Totally enjoyed Prospect Park Zoo. Small zoo but some interesting animals. Always feel bad about having them locked up. A few of them seemed agitated. The sea lion routine can make one forget. Hope all are treated well.

Great place to bring kids-not to much walking, interesting animals.

Great zoo for a 2 hour trip. No parking lot. So finding parking was a bit hard.
Tara Ann
We take the kids here on trips every year. The exhibits are kept clean, the staff is helpful with information and directions as needed. Children always have a good time.

It's a small zoo with enough to keep your family busy for a morning or afternoon. I was disappointed by the zoo's cafe and store, so I was glad I had packed a lunch. The baboon exhibit, barnyard, and the outdoor aviary are definitely highlights. In summertime you'll run into a fair amount of camp groups. A nice place to combine with a visit to Prospect Park or the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens.

Small but still a decent zoo... Best part is feeding the animals in the barn or the ducks... My daughter loves it
Inevitable Difference
I love that you can feed the sheep here. The park size of the park allows you to see all of the animals. There is also sea lion show a couple of times per day. Admissions was $7 and change for an adult on a Tuesday. Not too shabby!

Its ok. Small and has 2 indoor exhibits so you can go in the winter. But dont expect to be there all day its a 1 to 2 hr experience and nice for kids to hust run around and play. More like a park. Dont need a different tickets for children's zoo. Only one cafe not very extensive so bring your own food. Only street parking and trains arent that close. Friendly staff. I prefer queens zoo but most of queens zoo is outdoor and has separate charge/entrance for childrens zoo. Queens zoo does have parking and is a bit bigger
