Reviews of New Orleans Botanical Garden
Absolutely gorgeous gardens!
Never have I ever been to such an elaborate botanical garden exhibition before.
There is so much to see!
I accidentally went when it was raining, so I’m definitely coming back on a sunny day.
There is so much to adventure into, a mini train exhibition, a zen garden, indoor and outdoor plants, swinging bench’s in a tropical forest, a butterfly garden, nude sculptures, a rose garden, and so much more!
Definitely worth it to go on a sunny day!
My husband and I love plants so how could we pass up going to the New Orleans Botanical Gardens. With beautiful sweeping walks and little nooks of wonder we spent a couple hours wondering the garden. Entrance fee was reasonable. We viewed the gardens in the winter and they were breathtaking. Now to return in the spring to enjoy the granduer in its fullest.
Beautiful and well done! Quiet and great place to relax and simple enjoy the scenery. Toy train exhibit looked cool and entertaining. Next to a children's playground with separate entrance fee but fairly well attended!
Great garden, very quiet during the week. You can park for free in front of the entrance. The park has a lot of shades in some parts. Gorgeous ponds, fountains, a miniature rail track.
There are some indoor conservatories expositions too!
You'll have some lizard friends running everywhere
Incredible display of thousands of plants, from trees to flowers to succulents, and even vegetable gardens. We easily spent most of the afternoon here, and I still don't feel like I saw everything. There is also a sculpture garden and a model train attraction. Would make an amazing venue for a celebration, wedding, or photoshoots! Definitely planning to return soon.
A beautiful garden in an amazing park. The botanical gardens are a don't miss stop when exploring City Park. Some of the plantings change seasonally. There is a tropical greenhouse and an intriguing cactus collection as well as a rotating edible garden. Be sure to take a moment in the butterfly garden, it attracts monarchs, frittilaries, east coast swallowtails, giant swallowtails, and other moths and butterflies.
This place is fantastic. Lots of beautiful plants, a butterfly garden, a cactus/succulent greenhouse, a rain garden area, gorgeous ferns. It has different trails you can meander through with swings and benches to sit and enjoy the beauty..Best $10 you'll spend in New Orleans.
Pictures don't do this place justice. So beautiful with lots of hideaways and open landscapes to get lost and immerse yourself in nature. The outdoor kitchen and vegetable garden, Japanese zen garden, rose garden, tropical plants and orchids, ferns display, sculptures, stage, the list goes on! I stumbled upon a wedding being set up and fully understand why you'd want this place to be a part of the celebration. I'll definitely be returning when I'm in New Orleans again.
A beautiful place to visit. And I have thoroughly enjoyed the Thursdays at Twilight concerts they have each week. I highly recommend planning to spend some time exploring the gardens then relaxing indoors enjoying food, drinks, and music.
On Wednesday if you are a Louisiana resident with a valid proof of residency you can go in for free! This place blew my mind. It's so gorgeous. I spent hours inside this beautiful place. I would love to see it in Spring. Here are just a few pictures of the amazing things in this place. I could have added a hammock in a few places an took a nap.
Wide variety of plants to view. Some meticulously maintained and others left to grow wild. Great size garden to walk around for a few hours. Beautiful statutes and fountains throughout.
Oh my goodness there are way too many pics to post but the garden was beautiful and the G Guage trains were great. Enough to bring the kid out in anyone. And as a bonus there were Halloween scarecrows up that were fantastic.
I loved this whole park. The gardens though we're beautiful. We actually went during a spot of rain, but it didn't hinder us one bit. This is definitely a must if your in the new Orleans area. You can take the train / bus here if need be or you can just Lyft their like we did. It is appropriate for all ages. There is a fair amount of waling but everything is acceptable.
My favorite spot from our New Orleans trip. So fun to look at everything. Everything is so well taken care of. Great spot for both adults and little ones. Would definitely come again.
Great botanical garden! The wife and I have gone to a few around the country and this is probably one our favorites. The variety of plant life along with sculptures, it was honestly a lovely experience. We showed up about an hour before close and pretty much had the whole garden to ourselves.
The botanical gardens were beautiful! The flowers and trees were well kept and blooming. My wife and I really enjoyed our time there. It was humid and we were sweaty, but that had nothing to do with the gardens. Also, there are beautiful sculptures throughout the gardens that really make you think. Don't miss the train gardens when you visit! Awesome gardens in an awesome park!
LOVE the atmosphere and scenery!! A walk in this garden will bring gratitude, peace and happiness. Definitely a must go if you are visiting NOLA!
Such a beautiful garden with so much to see! We spent two hours here because there was so much to see and it was so mesmerizing.
10/10. BREATHTAKING. so neat and beautiful. With a cool little butterfly part of the garden where I was able to see monarchs as well as blue jays. ♥️ it was a Wednesday and free to LA residents. Thought that was neat. I’ll be back next week. Front counter was nice , everything was self guided and self explanatory. It wasn’t too busy so I was able to see everything without too many people. And I thought it was neat how many waterfalls and little ponds were there.
Especially the green house having fish in the ponds and fish in swimming tanks there to look at. Also got to see blind cave fish which I never knew existed!!
A gem within a gem, the botanical garden is one of the finest places in City Park, where one can be astounded and peaceful among the prolific and expressive plant species that are native to New Orleans, and exotics that are not entopic but are suited to our climate. They host great events, including the free to the public Wednesday evenings with fresh cuisine and live music in the garden
The Robert B. Haspel stage area was very spacious and perfect for a recital! The restroom was surprisingly overall well kept, stocked, and air conditioned. I had a refreshing experience here!
This is most beautiful Botanical garden Ive ever seen and I saw it in the off season. You need to have a few hours in order to see everything and enjoy the experience of the grounds.
I love botanical gardens; and I loved this one. Not the biggest, but not the smallest; I feel this should be on everyone’s must do lists while visiting this magical city.
This was surprisingly nice. I don’t usually go to gardens. This was worth a walk around. Bathrooms were spotless.
I wish we would have went here earlier in our trip this place was beyond gorgeous and there are so many places to walk around and check out. They even have a side with storybook characters and a play ground for kids.
Nice garden, has plenty of different flowers, plants, cacti, and groomed bushes. There's small greenhouses with tons of different types of cacti and a big indoor area with big plants.
I love flowers and I was in heaven on earth. They have many flowers that I have never seen before. Definitely have some time when you go so you don't rush.
Very beautiful garden. Lots of different areas and themes throughout the gardens to explore. There is also a greenhouse portion with some cool fish. Not much shade throughout, so on a nice summer day in the New Orleans just bring some water and sunscreen. A great spot for kids to explore or cute spot for a date. $10 for adults, $5 for kids (babies are free)!
My favorite part of New Orleans...well one of them bc its a beautiful place..but the Botanical Gardens I loved
The time, work and beauty in this place is outstanding!!!! Pictures are beautiful in all angles and the landscaping, artistry....it was absolutely beautiful
Had a great outing with my wife yesterday. Heads up it's free for Louisiana residents on Wednesday with your ID.
Educational, relaxing, wonderful time strolling around, sitting and meditating on His creation! Beautiful.
Beautiful flowers. My favorite was the succulent section. I have gone here twice now and have had a blast every time! A must do for all people visiting new orleans.
It's absolutely stunning. There are some real green thumbers working their magic in New Orleans. Breath taking !!!
Beautifully curated gardens and spaces in a stunning park in the heart of New Orleans. I wish there were more labels on some of the plants so we can find out more. Our pretty amazing to see an outdoor kitchen area set up with a legit kitchen garden!
The garden was just beautiful and clean. Wave to the plants and if your lucky they wave back!
Great place to amble around, lots of plants from around the world, and we'll manicured!
Mixed feelings. It’s definitely an interesting and well-preserved botanical gardens with an interesting set our landscapes but a few downsides are the insane amount of mosquitoes that can hunt you down and the noisy playground that exists next to it. As a tourist, I wouldn’t rate this as a ‘must’. There are better things to do with your time.
Discover innovative displays of gorgeous flowers and vegetation in beautiful surroundings. You’ll love the statues, water features, and be sure to visit the peaceful Asian room!
Beautiful gardens with scenic walking paths. Wear comfortable shoes-its a large property and there is a lot of walking. Make your way over to the art museum while you are there and check out the sculpture garden as well!
Came here for a wedding in early November. It was absolutely beautiful. The event staff was great. It was raining during the wedding but the staff did a great job keeping everyone dry.
GTN Recommended - This beautiful botanical garden is one of the best you'll find anywhere in the world. The wide variety of gardens, sculptures, and presentations make this particular botanical garden a work of art.
Tips: Ride the Canal Street streetcar line from the Quarter to City Park and walk over to the gardens. This is a great and inexpensive family activity, especially if combined with Storyland right next door. Be sure to take the whole family to the historic Train Garden inside the Botanical Gardens!
The botanical garden is a beautiful place. There are fun events, lots of native plants to learn about and of course, beautiful ancient live oaks. Set your own pace and be amazed.
Beautiful park to start. The botanical garden is only 10$ and is well worth it. You could spend a good hour or two walking around exploring. Plants are named eith placards, and laid out thoughtfully. There are plenty of places to sit and relax or take a break with the kids. The fountains are in good shape and exhibit lovely craftsmanship. There is a small Japanese garen area and a succulent room as well. If you're a plant lover, you really must stop here while in town.
There is a seperate kid area that is a few additional dollars, but we didn't explore that.
What a wonderful place! Go when it's not busy if you can so you can lose yourself along the way.
Neat and beautiful gardens for the whole family to enjoy!
What a beautiful place to visit. Live music Beautiful Greenery and the restaurant and atmosphere was amazing. Definitely try the fried green tomato casserole, mushroom enchiladas, espresso brownie and the Mojito was to die for!
Nice botanical garden, but I wouldn't go gaga over it. Areas include a large children's Storyland, lovely statue garden near the entrance, greenhouse with a living fossils exhibit (w/prehistoric plants, and a tropical rain forest. Lovely garden paths. And a certified Monarch butterfly feeding station. No senior discounts. They do have a nice gift shop just off the entrance. Ample parking on the street.
Absolutely beautiful! It’s a must see!
Beautiful and wonderful morning at the gardens.
Beautiful gardens and a great train display.
Love this botanical garden. Has so much variety of flowers & trees that I never seen before. I am in love with the gardenia trees & Japanese tea garden section. The garden also has this vegetable garden which quite cute. $8 admission is such great deal. So worth it.
Attended the Thursday Twilight Concert - always a fun experience!
A very lovely garden. Lots of places to sit back and enjoy nature. I was surprised by the variety of gardens. There is certainly something for everyone, no matter the age.
Quick note: Bathrooms are ONLY in the main building, and you may want to stay in here for hours, not minutes! Plan accordingly. This is an oasis of beautiful and rare plants! There's a lovely collection of mature orchids, as well as all sorts of annuals, perennials, and other beautiful plants, not to mention a HUGE cacti and succulent collection. This is a photographers oasis, and for any plant lover- plan a stop here for on your vacation in the Big Easy.
So glad I've decided to the pay the $8 fee to get into the botanical garden. This place has plenty of plants and flowers to see. The grounds are well kept and should have blooms throughout the season. My favorite locations within the garden are: the orchids inside the conservatory, the lily pond right outside the conservatory, the Japanese garden, and the train garden. Tip: the main path for the whole garden has been "walked through" by a 360 camera on Google Maps, so you can get a free preview of what you could expect to see once inside the garden using The Yellow Man.
A few statues had been removed and were being worked on, it looked like the place needed to be raked, and overall it appeared time and resources needed to be invested in what could be a really beautiful place!
Amazing sculpture and botanical gardens. This is a place to come and spend a few hours enjoing diffeeent types of artwork, nature and a pond.
Beautiful place. The Celebration in the Oaks is a wonderful Christmas activity and the decorations in the botanical garden are beautiful.
The Japanese Garden was so simple, yet MAGICAL. The array of plants and detailed landscaping were both impressive. I highly recommend the New Orleans Botanical Garden if you are an outdoor enthusiast or simply adore nature.
The garden is a concentration of beauty inside a great park! The historical garden, buildings, paths, and greenhouses are a treasure! The cactus greenhouse had some amazing specimens! Make sure to ride a bike there to enjoy the whole experience!
I’m a horticulturalist and when I’m in a different city the thing after business is to seek out gardens. New Orleans Botanical Garden is one of the best, and must do. Very inspiring and wonderfully unique.
A lovely botanical garden with plenty of beautiful and interesting plant species and a very peaceful environment. The rain forest and fern sections are great, and the art installations have a meditative feel. Bring some water in the summer as some parts lack shade.
This place is absolutely stunning and worth every penny. I spent about two hours walking the grounds and enjoying all the sights. Plenty of places to just take a seat and relax while enjoying all of the natural beauty.
Attended a family wedding here. Beautiful setting for a wedding or like event. There was a possibility of rain so staff was prepared to move seating to a large covered area just in case. The setting provided for a ton of beautiful picture opps
Decent but not stunning botanical gardens. Liked the Japanese garden in particular. Nice place to wander around for an hour or so. Model trains only run at weekends.
This was such a lovely place to go. We went on a Saturday but it was not crowded at all. I kept thinking we had seen everything but then we would find another section of the garden. It would be really nice to bring lunch or a book inside to spend more time here while taking a nice rest. So serene and beautiful. My personal favorite spot was the edible food garden.
Though the New Orleans Botanical Garden is not the largest or most diverse BG's in the country. It is a very quaint, charming, personable, inexpensive, and private way to spend a morning or afternoon. The entry fee is not expensive at all, but I would highly recommend buying the seasonal pass that is good for a year if you live in New Orleans. The New Orleans Botanical Garden is a great way to escape even within the beauty of the already great escape City Park.
beautiful place in the middle of City Park. had several hours in the morning to fill and decided to visit as I am a member of another botanical garden and there is a reciprocal policy. even if it were not free for us to attend, the modest $8 charge is well worth the cost.
Really fun and entertaining. Definitely worth visiting. Only $10 per person.
such a nice display of orchids. and the grounds are just stunning!!!
Beautiful plants and greenhouse! Our favorite was the vegetable garden!
Amazing place to relax and enjoy nature!!! Beautiful plants, art, and landscaping.
If you can successfully take her on a date here, you in. It's a great 10th date. It's the greatest first date in New Orleans.
Gorgeous botanical garden, well kept and full of interesting things to see.
Annual lark in the park is adorable, shocking they ran out of ~water~ though.
Also adorable during day time.
This is a lovely and unique walk with plants from local areas. It's free to enter and picturesque from any angle. The day we went was very hot so please bring plenty of water and stay hydrated. This would be a great spot for a first/ second date or for the family. :)
I really adored this place. I went with my family, and we have a very very good time. The gardens are wonderful. We would have stay more time but unfortunately it was extremely hot.
NOLA Botanical garden is nice to gisot on a cloudy day. Check out the kitchen garden and the thrilling sculptures.
Absolutely gorgeous park, if you love nature then this place is a must visit. Incredibly relaxing and beautiful.
We only had an hour to walk through the gardens but we still had a wonderful time. There's more packed in there than I expected. I especially enjoyed the prehistoric plant exhibit, the veggie garden and the small pockets where you could just relax and enjoy the scenary. They even had an outdoor restaurant that smelled amazing (though we didn't get to try).
Beautiful gardens, exceptional art and a great atmosphere.
Would be better to visit during spring or summer, but I have to everything is still pretty decent and cute
A very beautiful garden that you can spend a good amount of time enjoying. Great for a date or just to explore and relax. Had a great time and the price isn't bad for what you get!
Very cool place to explore and get outside for greenery. Would recommend.
This is an unbelievable park and one of the best I have ever seen. Wonderful setting at every turn and even a beautiful play park for the kids surrounded by the most beautiful plants! Highly recommend.
Beautiful gardens with so much to see!
Beautiful! It is so serene and very well maintained! I loved the Japanese Zen garden
I just wish they had small scooters for the handicap and elderly to move around on the grounds . I'm never able to walk around to see much because of my mobility. I would love to be able to see much more areas of beautiful gardens 👵🏾👩🏽🦳👩🏼🦰🧔🏼
Beautiful flowers. Lots of greenery and paths. My mom loves the cactus room, and my sister loves the Japanese garden.
Beautiful plants and walkways with sculptures peppered throughout. Food and adult beverages available. Wonderful.
Such a beautiful relaxing place to unwind and gaze around!!!!
I love coming here on Wednesday nights for kitchen in the gardens! Besides all the beautiful flowers and trees, it’s so fun to see what vegetables, fruits, and herbs they have growing!
Open Wed to Sunday so it was closed so we visited the NOLA art museum garden. We did see some cool vegetation from the fence and be an amazing chandler hang from a tree 🧐😍. …
Beautiful gardens! The staff is friendly and helpful, too!
A beautiful garden with lots of water flowing and an abundance of flowers. It was peaceful and beautiful.
It does have an entrance fee so heads up!
Beautiful. Many peaceful little nooks to sit and relax. I wish I lived closer and could visit this place on a regular basis.
Lovely gardens with a wide variety of plants. Locals get in free on Wednesdays and they have free events throughout the year.
This place is absolutely gorgeous! I wish we would have had more time to explore however they close at 5. This was our first stop in a short trip so I will definitely be coming back next time.
Beautiful and spacious Botanical Gardens in City Park in New Orleans. Gorgeous areas to walk, sit, and play around. The Storyland was a fun place as well and would be perfect for kids of all ages.
I LOVE the botanical garden. The rose garden is gorgeous but the secret treasures ate the fountains and statues
Beautiful place to spend a day. Well maintained and next to the art museum and sculpture garden.
One of my favorite botanical gardens I've ever been to. Went on a rainy day but there was so much to see and enjoy. Loads of different plants and flowers everywhere, there is something different around every corner. Could have spent an hour in the succulent greenhouse alone. It was so much fun, looking forward to the chance to go back!
Great place to visit and relax
Went to a wedding here, it was gorgeous. Would love to come back and visit again.
Very unusually designed garden, full of surprising sculptures. Love this place
Beautiful gardens with butterfly exhibit and greenhouse. It’s good for kids and adults of all ages. If you're in City Park, I’d suggest you check it out.
This Botanical Garden is definitely worth the money. It's just $10.
I love going to the botanical gardens. It's so quiet especially during the fall/winter.
Great value for your money. Spend an hour to stroll the different gardens. My highlights were the alligator gar and the peco fish. Didn't like the rotting vegetables in the veggie garden. At least harvest and donate them please!
Love this place. So many things you can do for adults and kids. It’s for sure an adventure if you are curious to check it out.
This is an amazing garden. It is really worth visiting!!
i can’t say enough about the beauty of this wonderful place. so many beautiful plants!
Beautiful even 3 weeks after a hurricane, can't wait to see it in peak one day.
If you are in love with plants, you should go there! If you hate plants, you must go there and change your idea!
Lovely gardens with many different themed areas. Worth visiting multiple times per year.
Beautiful experience. I felt as if I was in the Queens garden from Alice in Wonderland.
Wow! The variety of plants is amazing. Enjoy the awesome zen garden while you are here.
Very beautiful and well maintained. Would have given 5 stars if we hadn't been locked in... Word of advice, leave 5 minutes before closing.
I can't say enough good things about the amazing atmosphere this place provides. Not only a great education center, but a wonderful place to relax plus free to Louisiana residents on Wednesdays in addition to some great food served on Wednesday evenings I believe but don't quote me on that. I am in love with this place wholeheartedly!
I had a wonderful walk through the garden with my husband!
Very small botanical nice garden😏 …
The NOLA Botanical Garden is a must see. Forget Bourbon St. This is the place to visit.
Such an amazing experience!!
Very peaceful and well manicured! Lots of cool things I didn't expect and very cheap! I've been to botanical gardens in many states and this was amazing for the price! Not as large as some but still easily spent 2 hours in there.
Beautiful botanical gardens, although they are a bit smaller than I expected. Plan for about an hour
On a nice spring afternoon we visited the Botanical Gardens. It is in City Park close to our home. The Park has many venues including the NOLA Art Museum, a Sculpture Garden, a golf course, tennis courts, many walking trails and many sports fields and 2 stadiums.
The Botanical Gardens are as nice as I have seen. We first went to the culinary garden full of vegetables and herbs. These were not planted in rows like my fathers vegetable garden but were in beds and laid out like a flower garden. The brightly colored Swiss Chard , a more decorative kale and the biggest cabbages I have ever seen. There was also a large outdoor kitchen where my daughter in law tells me there are cooking demonstrations.
Next we went to the Cactus House full of decorative cactus and succulents. We also visited the Train Garden which was a large outside electric train exhibit. The train ran thru areas that were like the neighborhoods of New Orleans, with replicas of house and buildings of those neighborhoods.
We went on to the Rose Gardens with old roses on one side and modern roses in beds. The Old roses were in bloom but we were too early in the season for the modern ones. But the plants looked strong and vibrant. So I am sure they will be wonderful in a few weeks.
At this point my feet started to fail me so we hurried back to the gate. We passed the Butterfly Garden, once again too early to be in full flower but we did see a yellow butterfly. We passed the Orchid House. On the way out we passed the water lily pond. It was not quite late enough for that either but we did see one bloom. Unfortunately we missed the Camellias but my feet were really paining me. They promised to take me back another day.
We went on Saturday so there was an admission but I saw a sign that Wednesdays were free.
The only disappointment was the Japanese garden which was very plain and grey. I would have enjoyed a Koi pond and ornate structures maybe some paper lanterns hanging from the trees. But maybe once again it was the time of year and it is more lively later.
The gardens were nice but to find the entrance was not easecwhen you are on foot.
Very well laid out, clean and not to pricey
Nice place to visit! Beautiful gardens
I really think they shouldn't be open this time of year, very interesting place to visit but looked deserted compared to the times I've visited in the summer.
Beautiful gardens among wonderful trees and some of the best seating in South with swing under Oak.
Oh man! What a gem in the city of New Orleans. The lilly pads alone are worth the price of admission. Free on Wednesdays for Louisiana folks with an id. The fern room is really cool too!
Such a beautiful place that gives peace and happiness. My son and I always enjoy it.
I attended a wedding here. It was a beautiful location and we have good memories.
Such an incredible space!! A must visit in New Orleans. This beloved botanical garden is the heart beat of city park's incredible garden spaces. Inspiring examples of on trend green spaces abound, honoring Louisiana's climate and the diversity of botanical species it supports.
We felt that the botanical garden was slightly overwhelming for the price. I hope that it is more beautiful during other seasons. We visited during February.
Awesome garden to view lots of cool statues. Lots of benched to rest at
found the botanical gardens by accident, excellent by world standard with great lay out, Japanese garden was a highlight
Great awesome selection of cactuses we really enjoyed I put that on the other one but we were disappointed half of the park was closed we were really really happy to see that they were still doing it but we wanted to see the 12 Days of Christmas the more traditional things not will of the wisp. But all in all it was a great experience and we really enjoyed it. I liked how everybody who was there and I know there were some smokers there no one smoke cigarettes inside and I thought that showed a great sense of community I guess for the
We went to a birthday party at the train garden the kids had a great time
Cute place... 8 bux for admission, which is fair... They were just starting to decorate for Christmas and putting up lights...
Great place to relax and admire the beauty of the mother nature.
Absolutely beautiful and there is so much to see! I would definitely go again.
Absolutely gorgeous! Loved learning from the gardeners
Huge, lots of fun to walk around and look at everything they have. Along with everything city park has to offer, it's definitely a must visit if you enjoy flowers.
Really good botanical to visit. Well planned and lots of interesting gardens and sculpture. Wish the gift shop had been open when we were there.
The Botanical garden was an excellent experience. The breadth of their collection and their arrangements were brilliant. Particularly of now were the tropical rainforest and living fossils greenhouses. The tropical rainforest has all sorts of orchids in bloom in their natural habitats, so it was quite interesting to see how they thrive in nature. While the loving fossil exhibits included species that have been around for hundreds of thousands of years, with a love plant and it's fossil side by side for comparison! Other than these two there's also a miniature train track that goes through a model town with different attractions in NOLA. The statue garden is also worth a visit.
Definitely recommend a visit here.
Gorgeous gardens! Some really amazing greenhouses, but my favorite was for sure the cactus hothouse. We didn't know there was a model train area before we went and it was such a hit with the kids!!
Beautiful area even in winter. Friendly staff. Wished there were a few more signs to distinguish the plants and coming from the desert, widh the desert plants weren't all in pots. But it was beautiful 😍 …
Great experience
This garden is huge! The flowers were in bloom October weekend. It is well maintained. The gardens do have rental packages available. This would be an amazing site for a gathering or wedding. The price was $5.00 I walked the entire garden in under 2 hours.
Wow! For only $10/adult you get to experience one of the coolest and most unique gardens ever! Beautiful and original plant sculptures and gardens, this made for a wonderful experience for our New Orleans vacation!
Beautiful place, great to come with the family or solo.
A stunning location perfectly geared towards giving you a beautiful wedding venue to capture lots of one of a kind memories within. Looks breathtaking both in the daytime or at nighttime. I actually got to be apart of a wedding at night and was able to also see the venue in the day time hours and both were very distinctly gorgeous.
So pretty! We enjoyed viewing all the plants they had here. Very well maintained. Wish their hours were earlier or later in the day as it is very hot in the summer.
Beautiful garden to get lost in. I loved my time here.
Incredible!!! $8 a person and worth every penny.
Great lil piece of mind in new orleans,do have a picnic and rest up here! I remember catching fish by hand here ,As a child when my cool parents would go to contcerts, and do cheap outing for us kids.truly a blessed place
Beautiful gardens, statues, and water features. Visited in November from Massachusetts and was very impressed by the layout and selection. Plenty of benches to sit and rest and enjoy the views. I wish I had more time to spend there.
This place just goes on and on. And it has a few different themes. I liked how well they had the plants labeled. I was fortunate to speak with one of the gardeners pruning some plants, and from then on when we crossed paths he would point out small things i probably would hwve missed. That was nice of him.
Beautiful place. A must see if you are around the area.
Wonderful, peaceful, and quite large for what I was expecting. They have a wide range of plants for your viewing pleasure, an area for you and the kids to run and play, a greenhouse full of succulents and cacti, and a vegetable section.
Make time to visit! It's so gorgeous
Love this place , great to be in the heart of the city and have a place to breath in nature.
what an unbelievable place. for sure got our money’s worth with the family here. it was endless spectacular gardens, but the highlight was lunch the japanese garden. my boys particularly loved the living fossils greenhouse (aka ferns) and the rainforest with waterfall. the train wasn’t working but they still got to see the largest set of their lives and they’ve been building train tracks at home like crazy since. they enjoyed playing on the ‘secret stage’ (if you can find it, it’s probably the furthest point from the entrance). it was easily the coolest gardens i’ve been to in my life. we will for sure swing by next time we’re in town!
Very nice! Quite and peaceful. I went in September and it wasn't really at its best. But I believe that in spring is beautiful. Maybe the maintenance could be better, there are some areas that seems to be a little bit neglected, like the greenhouses and the horticultural fields. I also expected to be bigger and I thought that the ticket is probably a little expensive for the size of the garden. But it was a really nice experience.
Just a gorgeous way to spend an April day away from the Colorado snow! This park is beautiful but Huge. Bring your walkin' shoes. The live oaks and Spanish moss are everywhere and beautifully frame photographs.
For out of towners, take the Canal St.-City Park streetcar all the way to end. Just remember how to get back there for your return. Breadcrumbs don't work. Geese!
Was in new Orleans for the week on holiday and made sure to come. Well done on having a bunch of varieties that bloom in all seasons. Will most definitely be on the list to come back to the next time we are in NOLA
Always a treat, I go during the week when not so crowded. Beautiful gardens.
One of the nicest botanical gardens around!
Really beautiful and relaxing place! We were there in April, and not much was in bloom but there is a really cool greenhouse full of cactuses. The Japanese garden is cool, the sculptures are interesting, and don’t miss the train exhibit! It’s tucked back in a corner, but totally worth a closer look. Entry fee was cheap too!
Free to locals on Wednesdays! The rest of the week, adult admission is $8 and it's totally worth it. Beautifully designed gardens that include a rose garden, fountains, a Japanese garden, a veggie garden, even a children's space. Plenty of shady spots to grab a seat, but grab a bottle of water before you start walking, since it can take some time to get through the entire garden, depending on your pace.
So pretty! I love walking through here, especially if there's an event and it has a nice set up. Great to go with family or alone. Kid friendly. Plenty of parking. Self guided - as in no tour guide or group (from my experience anyway)
The fountains and sculptures were beautiful and so was the landscaping. However you don't get the true "botanical garden" experience in this locations. Most of the plants that were in season, were dead and not taken well care of. Most of the trees seem to be not taken care of and have mold...
Such a beautiful place to visit, even during winter months! Beautiful variety throughout the gardens and quite a treat inside the green house. So lush, cozy and inviting, guests tend to linger just a bit longer amongst the lush greenery!
A gorgeous, compact park that is great for all ages. Recommend getting their early to avoid the heat.
This place is full of lovely plants and vibrant colors! I was astonished by the variety and the size of the them! I would go again for sure! The flowers were blooming everywhere even though it was autumn and there was so much park to see!
It's a great out door space with beautiful environment. If you live in the greater New Orleans area it's worth the trip.
Wonderfully enormous selection of plants in colorful orientations, the scent of flowers throughout most of the gardens. It has a few informational points as well regarding rainforests and fossils. Sadly I didn't have enough time to view the entirety of the gardens, for there was too many fun things to see!
Lovely
The Botanical Gardens are festooned with Enrique Alvarez sculptures from the Works Progress Administration that built City Park in the 1930s. It's amazing to see such wonderful art right under our noses. Museum quality work.
The garden changes yearround, and has some regular sites: the koi pond, the alligator garfish pond indoors.
Full of information and helpful workers who can usually answer any question about plants in the garden.
If you're a native, you can volunteer and help them keep the place spiffy and weed free.
I really enjoyed my time at the botanical gardens. Beautiful place to take pictures. Lots of places to sit down along the way and restrooms available.
A well-groomed garden, where one can relax in a peaceful environment.
Beautiful Gardens. I have been coming to the Botanical Gardens at City Park in New Orleans since I was a little girl. A lot has changed in the last 60 years. My husband of 44 years and I used to ride our bikes through it. It was free! There was no lighting of the oaks at Christmas in the park. I miss the quiet tranquility, but they have made the gardens and City Park safe and lovely!! Fantastic, historic venue for weddings and more. Highly recommend.
Nice garden, have seen a lot better but adequate and worth checking out. Japanese section was small and no real water features. Don't miss the greenhouses as there was a nice variety in there. Main pond and water lillies were lovely.
The entire place was amazing. My favorite part was an enclosed area for rain forest plants.
Amazing and beautiful space definitely worth spend a couple of hours wondering/wandering around!
Awesome gardens!! Lots of shade and benches. Lunch at Acorn th cafe at the Children's Museum is a must! Little ones will love Storyland.
Place was well kept. Easy an hour walk.
This was great and an awesome deal. We didn't even get to see it all... There was so much. Will definitely be back. Don't forget to wander around Storyland, especially if you have kids!
Botanical garden is amazing any time of the year. The Japanese garden is my favorite. Dinner on Wednesdays, it’s also open later to accommodate that
The gardens are great! There are fountains vegetable patches, Rose gardens... There's a large green house that is beautiful; which even has a fossil garden and "living fossils". There's a sculpture garden as well. Very Serene and beautiful. It's free on Wednesdays with your Louisiana I.d. too!
First visit. Unfortunately the trains don't run until the weekend. Very nice site seeing. We played putt putt in the park as well.
Wednesday nights at Kitchen in the Garden are always wonderful! Great food (order ahead on the Botanical Garden website) and the most beautiful setting.
beautiful place !
Beautiful place, so much to see and do! It's a family friendly place & so the gardens are so lovely and relaxing! Also, admission is FREE on Wednesdays!
Sculpture Garden is beautiful. Download the app!
Beautiful place with many things to learn.
Love attending different events here. Brunch on Sundays is my favorite. You order your selection of food when you purchase your ticket but they dont cook it until you are there so its fresh and delicious.
Such a beautiful and calming part. Definitely need to visit if you want to take a break from the busy French Quarter. We rode the trolley there and back from the French Quarter costing us only $2.50 round trip.
A beautiful and well maintained garden. Looks like it's a popular spot for events and photo shoots. The brickwork was inspiring.
Beautiful, even in the winter! I would love to tour this again with everything in bloom!
Wonderful time at the botanical garden. Beautiful gardens, fountains, and sculptures. The train garden was very fun and unique. Highly recommend!
You can wander around for hours! The sculpture garden is well worth the price, as is the little railroad. On weekends the garden railroad is operating. Tram will take you there. It's the end of the line so no worries where to get off.
I traveled specifically to see the Japanese Garden but was told it was under renovation. The director (thank you!) was kind enough to let us sneak a peak because I informed her I was from out of town and didn't knows when I would be back to visit again. Absolutely stunning! And The Helis Foundation Enrique Alférez Sculpture Garden, WOW. I was told that for the month of October only, Wednesday nights are free (regardless if you are resident local or not) with dusk to dawn live music. Definitely a slice of Heaven and a great place to meditate.
Love this Botanical Garden. If you live in New Orleans I think it's easy to overlook this place as either another tourist attraction or under look it as another park. But it's a really beautiful garden and has an excellent sculpture garden/exhibit featuring a local New Orleans artist I had never heard of.
Gorgeous but masks not enforced inside....which is legal I guess but there was an unmasked coughing person in gardens which was worrisome! Unmasked families were also in the orchid/bromeliad area too which was a bummer because that’s usually my favorite thing to see. C’est la vie!
Lots of beautiful things to see. Not the greatest staff, but very nice facility.
Didn't get to go through the whole garden due to the time, but loved what we saw. The tropical flowers were incredible!
Very pretty garden! Nice to walk through, with a cute hot house
Sculpture garden is peaceful and interesting.
A really nice botanical garden in City Park. The Enrique Alvarez sculptures were a real highlight of the garden. They are scattered throughout, so be sure to keep your eyes open for them. In the summer it is quite hot, so be sure to bring plenty of water.
It's well designed, beautiful, and well maintained. There's lots to see so plan on staying a couple of hours at least.
Absolutely beautiful! Well worth the stop for any nature enthusiasts. The staff was very friendly too. I definitely recommend stopping here.
Nice place to take pictures and look at the beautiful scenery. There is an Amusement Park and place for kids called StoryTime that is next door if yu are traveling w| children
Absolutely beautiful 😍 …
Beautiful! Make sure you go on the right path. I expected lily pads and saw the Little Mermaid. Talked to the desk and discovered my mistake lol. Don't miss this New Orleans attraction!!
Reminded me of a scaled-down version of the gardens in Europe. I enjoyed the symmetry of it all.
While somewhat small the grounds are beautiful.
I love the botanical garden. I see new beautiful plants every time
Exceptional park and gardens. Beautiful art work. Great place to relax from bustle of city. It's a shame you can't enjoy a picnic here. Don't know why....
Beautiful and serene
Beautiful scenery, sculptures, and fountains. Great for children and adults. Restroom facilities in multiple places. Butterfly garden, and train models. Free on Wednesday for louisiana residents.
Its beautiful from what you can see on the outside of the gates but contrary to their main sign they are not open on mondays an Tuesdays apparently.
Absolutely loved it went the weekend after the frost sadly a lot of the out side plants that don’t take the cold well well is to be expected but the quantity of plants they have is so massive there was still so many plants to gaze on with the different areas u can spend all day walking around in this perfect garden paradise with breath takeing sculpture garden and a zen Filled bamboo forest amazing location in the park easy to grab a cup at cafe du monde and take a stroll threw the garden perfect for a couples day out or an educational adventure for kids with the option to volunteer at the garden your more of the type that enjoys getting down and dirty this is the place for u from Sunday walks in the sun to a hand full of dirt this place even hase a spot for the train enthusiast and story land right next door for the little ones one stop adventure always there ready for the family if your coming to New Orleans and your thumbs are green it’s a must stop Also the tickets for adults 10$ and I believe on Wednesday it’s free local admission gotta love Nola
So many gardens and so beautiful! Highly suggest an hour or more to explore. Right my to Story Land and amusement park for kids.
Nice small botanical gardens. Has Japanese garden, edible garden, greenhouse with orchids, bromeliads, and succulents. Can see full garden in 2-3 hours.
Love these gardens. Lots of old roses and cacti. Very nice place to visit and city park where it’s located is pretty nice as well. Also art museum nearby.
Again another place in city park for anyone who love flowers get ideas for your next gardening event.
InnerCityPeice -Take a walk around to admire the art and greenery.
My favorite part of my trip to NOLA was the gardens - beautiful waterlilies, cacti, Japanese meditation garden, orchids .. everything for a nature enthusiast!
It was ok, was expecting more blooming flowers. Plus there was a bunch of groups taking professional pictures so couldn't see all of it.
If you're visiting city park I highly recommend the gardens
It's just absolutely beautiful
Enjoyable any day of the year.
Beautiful place, great variety
Couldn't leave till we saw everything
Very beautiful ❤️ garden located within City Park 🏞️!So many beautiful flowers 🌷 …
This place is beautiful! As a photographer I loved the scenery!
We kept finding more and more areas to explore, really neat quiet experience!
Fabulous. We loved the layout. Easy to walk and explore.
A lovely way to spend an afternoon, even if not everything is in full bloom. I would love to see some educational tours or classes here.
Very beautiful spot in the heart of City Park. Totally worth the trip on a beautiful day.
More than a botanical garden it has green infrastructure on display like green walls and fountains, all the while displaying great garden design like Longwood or Filoli Gardens.
Unbelievably beautiful!
This is my happy place. It literally surrounds you with the love and care that hundreds have put into nurturing the most spectacular plant specimens in an incredibly calming atmosphere.
Ok but a looooong walk to get there. Park is pretty
My husband took me here during one of our many walks while I was pregnant with baby #3 and it was beautiful and calming...
They should go and have fun at the park and city park with fun rides
Beautiful oasis
Favorite place in the whole city to visit. EVERYTIME we go there is new plants and new blooms to see.
Beautiful place, authentic feel. Just a great meander through the foliage. Don't miss it
Great garden to visit in New Orleans. Many species.
Beautiful gardens!
Such a pretty and relaxing space to chill and walk around. The plants are so pretty
Absolutely beautiful garden. I come here at least twice a month!
Beautiful and definitely worth your time.
Not stunning like some other gardens I have visited. This might be a victim of following my visit of the sculpture garden, which was superlative.
We enjoyed the Conservatory, the Enrique Alférez Sculpture Garden, and the Stove House and Dungeons!
Kind of dissappointing; small and not much to see here. I was expecting something like the botanical gardens in Sydney. $6 entrance for adults.
Free and open to Louisiana residents on Wednesday. Butterfly and edible gardens are beautiful.
Absolutely gorgeous.. a must see and enjoy
BEAUTIFUL 🥰 so clean and the staff takes such good care of the plants. A must go! …
My daughter and I had a lovely time walking around enjoying the beauty here . We love to frequent here .
fun! and appreciated all the renovation
great place to bring children.
I love the renovations that have been working on.
I am in love with the botanical garden I had a really nice time walking through and taking in the sights without being rushed
Nice place to spend some time. It is close to the NOMA and the Sculpture Garden so you can spend several hours in the area
Normally great but there is a lot of freeze damage. It will be great soon. Free for Louisiana residents on Wednesdays.
Went during the garden show and it was a nice spot. It looks like it needs some repairs to the paths.
Great day out, well cared for and peaceful
Beautiful but a little overpriced in my opinion. Kind of small. I base everything off of Chicago's garden and this is wanting.
Amazing gardens! I will definitely be back.
Gorgeous. Even in the winter. The green houses steal the show but the roses were also in full bloom.
Loved the train set and enjoyed sitting around in the gardens.
Mystical
Beautiful
Wonderful Place for
Wandering, Meditating, Reading, Friending
So beautiful and peaceful here. Especially wonderful when they host the Chinese lanterns and the holiday lights.
Honestly, quite disappointing. I'll revisit once we're more removed from the destruction of Ida's warpath.
Beautiful, enjoyed every minute of our time there.
Beautiful gardens, water features. Excellent in so many ways.
So beautiful ❤️
