Reviews of War Memorial Auditorium
This is one of my favorite venues ever. I've only been here twice. Once for 3 Doors Down and recently for Alter Bridge. There is not a bad seat on the balcony in my opinion. Same goes for the general admission on the floor. It's small, but you can see perfectly from anywhere.
I had s great experience seeing Macklemore in concert here. The venue is beautiful. The open floor plan for the concert allowed everyone to stay on their feet, stay excited and dance a little. They had seating for those who wanted it in the balcony. I also appreciated that it wasn't gigantic. Since it's a bit more intimate, it seems like there isn't a bad seat in the house.
We saw the Weird Al concert here and it was the best concert I have ever been to! The concert hall is small, therefore wherever you sit is a great seat! The bathrooms are nice and there is a water fountain. The only complaint is that it is somewhat hard to find if you are not native to Nashville. You will have to pay for parking and walk, so arrive early.
Very striking place across from the Tennessee State Capital. The plaza area has interesting statues, fountains, and a memorial to fallen TN officers.
Just a lovely place. Go explore this place!
This venue has no bad seat in the house! First time going we sat in the upper level and had perfect views. Take advantage of the state building parking if you go on a Sunday. It's free and about 2 blocks away.
My daughter and I just got back home from the War Memorial Auditorium. We went to the NJPW (New Japan Pro Wrestling) event and even tho it was bot sold out it was a great show. Watching some of the Japanese wrestlers is very dream like because here in the USA you can only see them on TV or YouTube so watching them live is very honorable, like they would say. And the auditorium it's self is a very nice place, inside and out. If you have the chance to go and take your family, I would recommend that you do. For an even that you like of course.
Came here for the Louis York & The Shindellas concert and it was fabulous! The speakers are loud and clear. I don’t believe there were any “bad” seats. The staff was very accommodating. Nathan and Jeremy helped me exchange my tickets and ensure I still had a great view. It wasn’t until I visited the balcony that I realized they’re all good. There isn’t much leg room unfortunately, but that’s due to the age of the building.
Great place to read up on history before seeing Sabaton
Great acoustics! Had an awesome time seeing Monty Python and the Holy Grail, then listening to John Cleese talking with his daughter in a Q&A after the film! Will definitely be back to see a concert 😉 …
I went here for my husband's graduation from UT . It was a lovely ceremony and a lovely place to have it. I love the old buildings and great for taking pictures. I would come back to this place if they had concerts. They do have the southern book festival here every year too which is fun because there are always a bunch of different authors.
“Victory” by Nashville sculptor Belle Kinney is maybe the most arresting sculpture I have ever seen in person. If you don't look closely, you may miss the smaller Lady Liberty statuette in the Titan's hand; perhaps the most definitive statement on the survival of Western Civilization: what is all our might FOR? Rivaled only by the work of Stanisław Szukalski, (see "Aspiral") who said "America is mankind's hope".
Awesome time, trust me go for the upper level. There’s no bad seats and most people in the standing room area try to sneak upstairs.
Incredible amount of displays and its free! Covers time frame from Spanish American war to Vietnam. Mostly before Vietnam though
This place is very nice and a lot of history. Came here walked around . Made my little read everything and learn about the history of this great Nation. After a while we sat down and had some lunch . Just super relaxing and beautiful place to come and visit. The best part is that is free lol.
Nice theater seats were comfortable. Leg room was a bit cramped.
I've been to a few concerts here before and the sound is ok and the setting intimate ...but this time I was able to experience the courtyard at night and it is a stunning place to say the least. The fountains just outside the doors are beautiful as well...don't pass it by!!
Attended a meet and greet event with John Cusak that was scheduled for TPAC but due to John's filming schedule had to be changed to another date. This is the first time in the war memorial building for this type of event. We sat in folding chairs, with good views of the stage. For the meet and greet we went downstairs. There was a nice curtained area with a back drop for the greet and photos. The bathrooms were large and clean. There were soda, water, and popcorn refreshments and a separate area for alcohol.
Small venue with great views, courteous and friendly staff, cozy environment, this is how love music in Nashville should be done!
Not the worst place to catch a show, but if you’re over six feet tall or on the larger side of life, just know that the seats are TINY. There is virtually no leg room for taller people like myself. If you prefer to stand in general admission, probably a great place to catch a show.
Loved it here. Awesome space, we were in the Walker theater to see a great battle of the bands. Will be back!🤘🏻🤘🏻 …
Interesting memorial and landmark. I wasn't able to fully grasp all of the elements of this war memorial due to my lack of American history but the features and placards did help me along the way. Interesting bit of history here. I'm not a war history boffin so I don't think I truly experienced it the way it was intended. However, I did learn a bit of history and enjoyed the views from atop the hill.
This is A Tennessee Must See! A beautiful memorial that has been erected to honor the millions of men and women lost at war. It also houses the venue where Nashville's original world famous African American musicians performed during the Jim Crow South Era.Tennessee's Homeless Community have taken shelter their for years. The Great Volunteers of the State have weekly served the homeless from this State Property.Really hate to see that go!
Enjoyed myself at the legends gala event. It was a beautiful evening and everything was setup nice. The food and service was excellent.
I liked the actual auditorium for the show I went to (a comedy show). Where the auditorium was wasn't very clearly labeled in my opinion. Heading over there to the auditorium too there were hardly any lights. Could be a safety issue at some point.
The only bathrooms for attendees to use were downstairs. The concession stands were also not very well laid out. The lines for them blocked the way to the bathrooms, and it was pretty crammed in that narrow entry.
Nice little auditorium, we visited for markiplier's you're welcome tour. The seats weren't the most comfortable.
Awesome venue for concerts! Historic, beautiful and great acoustics!
Come on down every Tuesday night and help out Beautiful eyes ministry feed and help and pray for our Nashville homeless friends. Donations are always welcome
The Memorial is a good place to visit there's a museum and the State Capitol is directly across the street.
Great place to see a show. Building has great acoustics and a ton of history
Pros:
Amazingly beautiful building, with outstanding musical artists that are normally in larger arenas, easy to find parking even free in downtown is amazing! Staff is friendly & helpful.
Cons:
Opening musicians sound terrible- seems as if there is something amiss with the acoustics in the venue..I've been there for 4 shows, and same each time: main headline artist knows when the sound isn't right & has to get adjustments made & THEN they've been beyond Great- the 'opening' bands don't have a chance it seems-time restraints or ?.. Either way, they may be great bands, but I'll never know lest I see them somewhere else due to feedback/reverb issues that actually hurt to listen to. Crazy lack of restrooms.
Sad beer & liquor selection at $$$$$$.
Love this venue. Saw Macklemore this last weekend. Great sound and not a bad seat in the entire place.
It's almost like stepping back in time walking through the columns
Very beautiful auditorium and everyone was very helpful. The only cons were the seating chart available didn't match where our seats actually were (nothing huge and we were happy with our seating) and the fact it was horribly hot in the building. I mean I get that there were a lot of people in there but it felt like the heat was on in the summer. Other than those two cons (which were nothing to fume over) it was a lovely venue. I will return because it was worth going to just for the things to look at.
I love this venue! I saw Stone Sour here and it was awesome. Not too big, but not too small either. Not a bad seat in the place. The floor is completely open, and there are seats upstairs. Tickets were very reasonably priced.
Attended the Killswitch Engage show at War Memorial, and it is a very cool venue! Really neat architecture, and the sound quality was fantastic. Plenty of free parking provided in the state lots a short walk away, and the staff was super friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!!!
I've only gone to about 5 comedy shows but let me tell you this one was my favorite. The venue was incredible, it was very large and had lots of bathrooms and lots of concessions. It sounded incredible when the stand-up comic came out and started his routine. I found myself laughing through the whole thing and not once did I ask myself "What did he just say?" I would definitely come back to this location for another show.
Great venue, not a bad seat
We had a great time at the Macklemore concert! No bad seats in the place. We would go back. The history of the War Memorial Auditorium is so awesome. I really enjoyed seeing the pictures of all the famous people who have sang there and the historical figures who spoke there. It's really beautiful inside and out.
The views here are really nice and the respectful presentation was very inviting.
This is such a cool venue. The ceiling is beautiful, which is useful if you're taking your child to a hear a really horrible band and you wish to drift off and focus your attention on something else.
I love the history of the building. Some photos dated all the way back to 1931. Our concert was amazing. We sat on the Balcony Level and our seats were in Row B. I am 6'1" and 245lbs. I could not fit in the seats. My girlfriend and I sat else where in open seats and I could seat just fine, albeit the smell of a Porta John coming from neighboring concert goes. It was nasty. The bear was 8 bucks for a 16oz. Hot Dogs are 4.50 a piece. Very pricey place.
This is a nice landmark but there was one thing I didn't like. There are lots of signs saying no skates, skating or bikes. I totally understand and agree with this at the top of the steps but it really limits peoples access especially in a city which encourages travel via scooters. The lower area below the steps could easily be skate-able without causing damage or safety problems and if they are still worried the edges of the water feature made of marble could be protected with anti-skate attachments. I think this would be much more inclusive for younger people and still maintain the respect required in the upper memorial.
...not bad...wished more exhibits...
This place is huge. For me it was like going to see something built by the Greeks. Huge columns and an even large layout. There was only one fountain going, so it is probably a sight to see them all going. In a way with the city all hustling and bustling, it was peaceful. The city workers were putting on decoration for the Christmas tree in front of the capitol building, which is a spectacular view from here.
The auditorium doesn't look like it should be a part of the legislative plaza, but it's definitely a hidden gem for those who don't frequent the plaza for legislative purposes.
We attended a sold out event at this beautiful venue. While the building is lovely to look at it, it was MISERABLY hot in there. The last time I was that hot was at an outdoor concert mid-day in New Orleans in August. Honestly, we nearly left midway through, and were relieved to get out when the talk was over. If you attend an event here during summer, bring a fan, and dress comfortably in something that doesn't show sweat.
Beautiful and historical venue, cozy inside. However, the bathrooms are only available on the lowest level and the bar setup is crazy. No actual lines so it was group crush mode to get a drink. They did not have near enough bartenders to handle the crowd for JRad. It was an exceptionally warm night in February (65 degrees) & it was sooooo hot inside the venue. I guess because of the age of the building, they don't have the ability to air condition on demand in Feb?
Absolutely beautiful theater! We had an amazing time at the Phil Wickham, Brandon Lake and Pat Barrett Singalong Tour!
Great venue! Even though I do not live in TN, I would definitely go back for the right show. Not too huge, not claustrophobic, great sound...jt's a unique place, glad I made the trip.
Besides the architecture and history, the great thing about this venue is that there's a large open area in front of the stage for those who prefer to stand and dance, and there's also a huge balcony for those who prefer to sit...
The not-so-great thing about this venue is that people stand in the balcony anyway during performances, despite the huge open area in front of the stage for them to do that, blocking the view for everyone else sitting in the balcony.
Also, humidity management seems difficult here.... and with "$9 for a litre of water"-level prices on concessions, you may want to hydrate before you arrive.
I visit the War Memorial Auditorium at least once a year for the "It's a Wonderful Life" foundation charity event. Highly recommend that you visit this place of you like historical Nashville venues. Willie, Elvis, BB King, and JFK have all taken the stage here!
Went here on a forced field trip for Graduate School (I'm in my thirties and I'm still doing field trips). Facility is deceptively large and the layout can be slightly confusing. All in all it's a nice place right in the smack dab middle of Nashville. I would stay for the picture opportunities above ground and skip going inside.
I absolutely LOVE attending concerts here! Best Venue for Major acts in Nashville! GA is always a "up close personal experience w/ the Artists" and also offers great VIEWS from the seating balcony! Be sure to check the website for tickets to events before you buy them through ticketmaster/Tickectfly or any event ticket supplier.
Most the music venues of Nashville continue to have great sound quality at shows. After 100+ concerts over the last 4 years, War Memorial is by far my favorite. Floor tickets put you right in front of the band. If I ever know a band that is stopping here, then I plan on going.
We went to see Trey Kennedy. The process to get in was seem less. The facility is great. You really can see well from all angles.
It honors our fallen soldiers of course!❤️ As well as, it's a great place to exercise, sit hangout under the shade trees by the statue. And every Monday @5:30 volunteers give free haircuts, showers, clothes, and meal. Every Tuesday @7:00 volunteers give out free clothes and meals. Anyone is welcome. Rich or poor!
And would like too mention that sucurity is provided by the TN. State Troopers.
Small intimate venue, very good for up close and personal. The will call procedure could use some help. Maybe a giant sign? Security could be quicker and more efficient. But, other than those 2 things, great place for an in your face rock show..
A small theater tucked away inside of Legislative Plaza. The seats are reasonably comfortable with adequate leg room. Due to the small size, there really isn't a bad view from any seat.
Thank you guyz for all that u do..
I was invited by a friend to go to the War Memorial Building , for a Conference on the Right to Live Movement . We enjoyed a luncheon , and several Guest Speakers , then went to the Cordell Hull Building, for signatures to back , and vote in the that no abortions are to be legal , except it be done to save the mother . also to vote in a child to be accepted as alive at conception . It was a beautiful day and I pray we save our children . I t was a beautiful day , and the People at both places were kind , and welcoming . The waitresses, and waiters were professional , courteous , and took special care of all of us . The Band was also a delight .
Not a long time to wait, Parking is Great. Happy that my handicap tag let me park free at the meter 😁.The Ladies behind the desk were very Patient and I think them for that.🌸🌹🌻🌺Have a Blessed Day.. …
I pass through the War Memorial several times a week and admire it each and every time. 👍 …
Came here for Sound Tribe concert and did it rock. The house was full but the line kept moving fast outside to get in, the only bad thing here was the bar which had such long lines that the wait was forever and they ran out of water bottles.
Sound - was pretty good and balanced not as great as tpac or rymon but on part to them.
Staff - was great and courteous but that all depends on the kind of concert and crowd you are expecting.
Overall good place and parking will always be expensive around so might as well uber.
This is a good facility for a movie screening & public speaking, and there is plenty of room to mill around, outside, before & after. The basement restrooms are clean, and the surrounding square is quite spacious.
Nice venue, but the staff kept telling us different times for when doors would be opened. It seemed lile everyone had been told some thing different. Other than that, though, the place ran pretty smoothly.
Saw Haim and Lizzo here last year and hands down it was the best concert I have ever been too! We even sat in the balcony back row!
Love this venue. Would give 5 stars, but when they put the chair seating on the floor, they don't take into account the size of people. I only had ownership of 3/4 of my seat.
We had great seats . Was very comfortable . Only thing was a lady beside me wouldn't stop being rude with her loud laughing during the performance of all ,I couldn't hear well.
The concert was awesome. Great bunch of musicians.
Awe inspiring. It's a beautiful place to not only reflect, but it's a great place to take your kids and explain what true service is all about.
Special exhibits for Police Officers, Korean War, Vietnam War, and WWI/WWII.
Love the intimate setting of this venue. Clear view of performers on both ground and balcony is a huge plus for me. Staff was helpful and friendly.
Great venue smaller and intimate
Did the walking tour as a field trip today & learned so much... Great historical & informational field trip... Tour guide was very engaging, funny & knowledgeable... Too bad some idiot jogger yelled out some stupid, non 4th grade field trip appropriate & ignorant comments while jogging past the Andrew Jackson Memorial right before calling Andrew Jackson a sociopath in front of at least 4 classes of 4th grade students listening to the tour guide...
My kids and I love this venue for going to see wrestling shows. It's gorgeous. Very tight for to make it to the bathroom though, which is downstairs
I had a great experiance today at War Memorial building. It was really fun and nicely ran by their event staff on hand.Alot.of history here.Soda and snack machines as well as restrooms are located in basement.Had a great time
Nice old Auditorium in Nashville. I saw casual concert of Jamey Johnson and Alison Krauss. It was a short concert fund raiser. Only complaint, not enough songs.
I like the layout of the auditorium but it's super hot and seems to be very little air flow....it gets stuffy.
Seats were so tight together you were rubbing on the people you sat next to. Overall a nice venue. Very intimate.
No parking on site. Main floor has no pitch but there is a balcony where you can look down on the stage. Look for parking below Capitol building or the archive building which is free at night.
Great venue. Only downside is the bathrooms are on the very bottom floor which sucks when you're all the way on the top floor and have to pee during a concert 😂 …
Just wanted to say thanks, Out in the courtyard every Monday night there's a very friendly group of people that Serve Food, Offer Showers, Haircuts, and Clothing to Nashville's homeless.
Absolutely beautiful venue. I would call it the best indoor venue in Nashville if I didn't have such a love affair with Exit/In.
Room is nice enough, and there are no bad seats, but only one restroom in the whole venue.
Killer skate plaza. If you go at the right time, it's legit. It's difficult to find such smooth stone without dealing with the dust of being indoors.
Didn't like them selling alcohol had a Christian event 🤔 but didn't stop me from worshipping in Jesus. …
Great venue for a show. It's small enough that there isn't a bad seat in the house and it's very personal.
Went to a comedy show...seats were great for the view but a little tight. Not necessarily handicap accessible building.
Venue was hot as hell but great show.
I have seen many shows here. The view is great. The sound is great. My favorite place to see a show in Nashville
Beautiful venue have only seen speakers here but I assume it's just as great for musical acts.
Fantastic venue to watch some great bands. Easy entry and exit, and beer stands are always close by.
Cool outside of the venue but the acoustics on the inside weren't great. Sound cut out a lot.
Great venue! Awesome acoustics and great view of the stage no matter where you sit.
Sound was perfect. Plenty of room. They have seats for those who prefer them. But the sound is what I loved mostly. It was perfect.
Very nice place and the staff is outstanding. The only suggestion would be for them to have more than one person assist with the merchandise so that the line moves quicker.
Saw Godsmack here. Great venue. Loved the smaller size. Puts you close to the music no matter where you are.
Great close environment for a concert seats up top a little snug and cozy just a little tight still awesome
Went here to see a wonderful comedy act and the place was fantastic. The one recommendation is maybe some lights for the line when it gets dark.
This place is pretty awesome. I've now seen the Nashville Symphony and a heavy metal band in the place and enjoyed each time.
I love this place because there is so much to gain! The history the park the city! It all meshes together beautifully!!!
Great venue. Its not very big so every spot has a good view.
The building is really neat shows are great there, but I am quite biased as I work there.
Saw Weird Al. First seats were up top along the wall and couldn't see a thing. Moved to the floor and was very satisfied
What an awesome venue to see a concert. Easy access in a very safe area.
Truly a gem in Nashville - a beautiful place.
Intimate venue for a show, with a great view from the balcony. The venue's acoustics could be better though.
Probably my favorite venue in Nashville. Great acoustics, nice staff, beautiful building, clean bathrooms.
Beautiful, historic monument. Small venue, very personal shows. I got to meet some big names here.
Great venue for live music. Parking can be a little tough, but expected downtown.
Great concerts. I've been here 4 times and keep coming back for more!!!
This is an important Memorial, but is unfortunately in disrepair. It is in desperate need of a cleaning and polishing. Very sad to see my state capitol represented so poorly here in this place of remembrance.
The facilities were beautiful and made the event we were there for so much better. Would definitely go back!
Went and volunteered with shower up to serve Nashvilles homeless and less fortunate. Always a great experience and beautiful atmosphere
I loved to go here a lot when I worked down town for events. The staff is very friendly and helpful too.
Good place to see your favorite bands. It's loud so bring ear plugs
What a great venue, felt up close and personal with the entertainers we saw.
Beautiful venue, staff was exceptially helpful. Easy pick up/drop off.
nice place to see.
Awesome venue and no matter where you sit it's a great seat
It was a nice, large place. I feel like it could use some of the outside space better but it did its job.
Went here to see Chris D'Elia and had a FANTASTIC time. The drinks and food are expensive, but that's how it is at all events..
Went here to see Seether.. Awesome venue.. No fights no BS just an amazing concert at an amazing venue..
Great building, mostly solid stone. Good acoustics, decent seating.
Very cool place and venue. Lots of history in them walls.
Beautiful event space. Great place to see a show as well.
Awesome place to have a concert. Very big and spacious location
Awesome venue!!!
Very dated, but great speaker system and not a bad seat in the place.
An amazing place for any venue you want to have there.
Macklemore concert has by far been my favorite. I LOVE the atmosphere of this place!
Love how small it is and there are both seats and GA area. Only gripes are there's only one bathroom and no food or concessions.
Very good acoustics and I always love the shows here.
Nice venue for music. We saw Jrad there so it was a GRATE! time!
Saw a phenomonal Macklemore concert here. Love the intimacy of this place, small venue.
This is a good place to visit if you like history or classical architecture, good for photo backdrops.
Great place for long nightly walks, becareful though the pavement is slippery when wet
Great acoustics in the venue! Love the building setup!
Awesome place to see a live show! Acoustics are amazing

Excellent place to see a show. Right in the heart of downtown Nashvegas!
Amazing venue for live music! Always love the show!!
Great venue. One of my favorites in Nashville
Best place I have ever been to see a concert.
Exterior floors and stairs are marble and granite. Wear shoes with good tread.
Hard to find (it’s underground) but great place to see a concert.
Awesome venue. Classy, no bad seats
Great venue. Not a bad seat in the house!
History. Presence. Stateliness. But dress for little A/C. I still loved the venue.

Thoughtful and artistically designed! Memorable experience for all ages!
Perfect concert experience, except that it was very hot!

Strange setup. Don't get balcony seats by the stage as your view is blocked.
The wma was a great place and the preformers. Was great thank you so much
Decent sound and a balcony that you can actually see from.
