Reviews of Minnesota State Fair
Melinda Bianchi
I was on assignment in the state of Minnesota while the fair was happening, and I am so glad! I've been to 7 different state fairs and this is BY FAR my favorite! I loved it so much that I went twice. Everyone should make the trip out here! My only complaint is that the Butterfly House is not supervised very well so tons of people grab the butterflies by their wings. If you're visiting, I highly recommend you use their shuttle system!

This was my 1st time at the Fair. I went on the final day which is Labor Day. I parked my car at a satellite parking lot 20 minutes away. The charter bus was clean and on a regular schedule to bring folks from the parking lot to Gate 5 at the fair. Getting a ticket at the gate was a pretty fast experience, especially with the amount of people entering the fairgrounds. I had a fabulous day looking at the different exhibits and attractions. I really enjoyed the agriculture building. As part of the experience I was able to find some vegan meals which were part of the Bargain Discount Book some folks gave to me. And I found the staff very friendly and helpful, especially in my quest to find Sweet Martha's Chocolate Chip Cookie stand. By the time 8pm came, I was quite satisfied with my 1st Minnesota State Fair. And my ride back to the satellite parking lot was hassle free!

Bought a ticket in a whim and was pleasantly surprised. Although it was busy with a lot of folks, the walking was fairly spread out, not crowded. Rode some rides, sipped some local brews, ate some food, saw some livestock. Good job MN!

A wide range of events and activities, including agricultural exhibits, live music, food sellers, carnival rides, and animal competitions, are featured during the fair, which usually lasts for 12 days in late August or early September. It is the largest state fair in the United States by average daily attendance, even though an entrance ticket costs around 20 dollars for adults. The fair is also renowned for its wide variety of traditional meals and "fair cuisine," including deep-fried delights.

Although the Texas State Fair may cover more acreage and days, there is no competition; Minnesota has the best state fair. Ideally, I'd plan to visit at least two days and spend about 6-7 hours a day to prevent burnout but you could truly visit every single day and have a blast! Pro tip: utilize a park n ride versus paying $40 bucks or waiting an hour in line trying to park in a fair lot. Save that money and time for more food at the fair!

It is such a great time going to the fair...we were going to take the express bus from Minnetonka but the lot and overflow lots were full....but we got there! The sights, sounds, food were all great!!! If you do not like crowds...don't go!

The Minnesota state fair is an annual tradition when millions of guests explore different things. If you like to eat traditional for state fair food, drinking a beer and doing fun, you should come. Just remember, it is happening every year, but only few days at the end of summer! 🤪🎶 …

I LOVE the state fair. Food, beer, vendors, parades, animals, concerts (although this years line up leaves much to be desired), and MORE. I go at least twice every year and have been doing so for 30ish years. The worst year was the one where there was no state fair.

The best state fair I have ever been to. The family friendly environment was such a delight. The food was good. The cost of the kids rides is outrageous. Many ride required an adult purchase as well. That’s not bad unless it's a total of 10$ for a simple kids ride. The staff was all really friendly. So much fun to be had.

What can I say? I’ve worked at the pickle booth three times this week and am tired, but want to go back.
Every year, I have to schedule something else to do, otherwise I’ll go back and spend too much money. In 2022, it costs $17.00 to get into the gate (but well worth it) but I bought the family’s tickets ahead of time at Cub Foods, for a discount.
And actually, you can pack your own lunch, snacks and whatever other supplies you need— I spent literally $0 the first two days.
Take the (sometimes free!) shuttle buses; parking is expensive with long lines. Buses are the way to go. Check the extensive and easy to use State Fair website.
Things I like to see/do every year:
-Horses (barn and free shows in the Lee and Rose Warner Coliseum)
-Miracle of Birth farm babies barn
-Horticulture building (flower display. Some people like the seed/crop art)
-The girl in butter (butter sculptures) Dairy building (I hear the shakes are good too)
-Fine Arts
-Creative Arts
-Lots of free pencils, ‘swag’ in the Education building (and student art)
-I hear there’s a llama costume show near the animal barns, but I’ve never caught it. (Check the website schedule).
••All that being said, it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. It’s packed on the weekends and even 10:00 am on a weekday has plenty of people. Check out the peaceful Mn path by the DNR building or the Fine Arts building for a break. Get there within the fair via two different enjoyable /air conditioned sky rides or maybe the free trolley. You’ll be walking a lot unless you rent an on-site scooter.
I usually go by 9:00; leave by 3:00. It’s a different vibe at night; I rarely ever go to the Midway.

Open in full force. Not many mask wearers. We noticed most items were $9 (the first 4 items we got were all same price). Corn was only $4 which due to low rain I thought for sure would be higher price. However the price to park at fair was $17!. I'd shuttle in and less wait time. Concert at grandstand was nice and clean. Avoid bathroom next to Viking hut it was smelly and nasty. They should really update that one. Wait and use the one next to the international bazaar .

I’ve never seen a city have a spot just for the fair and be behind a gate. Ya’ll fancy. Anyways the gates were open so I went in. Ya’ll have an amazing water tower which is important to me cause I document my travels with them and this one actually says “Minnesota state fair. Really cool. Plus lots of murals and just really impressive all around. Can’t wait to go to the fair with all the Minnesotans in a week. Hopefully someone will tell me must do’s of the fair so I can really experience it. I pray we are safe and able to have no extravagant dumb stuff happen that would ruin our time there. I really want to enjoy it❤️🤞
Nabeel Ozman
This was so much fun, great NEW vendors and always classic state fair.
I’d prefer earlier in the morning as there tends to be less people and more opportunities for getting things vs waiting in the line.
Taylor Colby
This place is so busy at every time of day. The parking situation is a nightmare. You’re parking on the streets surrounding and walking a good 15-20 minutes. Loved the vegan options that they had though !
hux 2012
Parking at the fair is $17, most food runs from $6+, water and soda $3. Can get around but there is crowds. You will need 2 days to see most things. There are rides, food, shops of all types from spices to cars and people watching. This can be a family friendly filled day.
If you want to try and set a budget I would target $100.00 per person for general items/food/rides.
Christopher P
I loved it! Made it there for the first time on the last day and it was jam packed but I like that! Ate some good food, checked out some cool displays, seen a pretty good band back in the back, went up in the space needle thing up in the front and caught a pretty good band at the front band shell who were giving away a kayak. Had a great time and can't wait till next year!!!

The Great Minnesota Get-Together! I haven't been to many state fairs, but I'm sure Minnesota's tops many other states in terms of scale and opportunities for things to see & do when you visit. There will be a lot of people (regardless of when you go), so plan to get to the fair early if you want to avoid the larger crowds!

Entered my ride at the MN State Fairgrounds for the ‘2022 Street Machine Nationals’. Great car show with at least 10K cars of all vintages, makes, models covering the full gambit of motoring. I prefer the MSRA Back to the 50’s show, however this show is worth attending!
Nic Castro
I was unprepared for the grandeur of the MN State Fair. It was our first time and part of the checklist of things to do to be considered a Minnesotan. Fried pickles, soft serve ice cream from the dairy farm, grilled corn on the cob, and Martha’s Cookies made it a day to remember. That being said, it’s a two day event. You can’t enjoy everything it has to offer in one day. Will be going back next year
Michael Hecker
It was great to have the Minnesota State Fair back again in 2021 and our family has now made it an annual summer tradition. I did not know what a pronto pup was until I came to the fair for the first time nine years ago. Now my favorite. The frozen key lime on a stick is another family favorite. Another one are the cookies and milk. Try to stay away from the overpriced midway, but everything else at the fair does not disappoint. It’s well worth the $16 per person admission. We were comfortable not wearing masks, along with the many others at the Fair inside and outside. We have always used the park and ride- it’s free and takes you up to the gate.
Pa Houa
Very well worth it!!!! Never expect it will be this big... Loved all the different kind if foods to crafts and etc! Including all the rides with the game prizes....
Lorraine Gaines
I attended one of the largest state fairs ever! With over 300 acres of land and the largest crowd of folks it was amazing.
Some many different food vendors, from different cultures to Minnesota finest, very impressive. In addition to a variety of discovery centers from beekeepers, gardening, dairy, horses, etc. This state fair is a definite must see for all ages.
Luis Diaz
Massive venue with tons to see, do and eat! Make sure you visit with plenty of time to enjoy all that the fair has to offer! My favorite was the bacon slabs on a stick....yum!
Mark Devino
We came from Chicago just to get to the State Fair. Definitely did not disappoint. On Labor Day 2021 crowds got thick but manageable. Great entertainment, food choices galore. Food, freaks and fun for sure.
Xtreme Ball MN
Dollar Hobbyz RC racing is the best attraction at the fair!! Lots of people enjoying playing and watching!!
Jeremy Robinson
Better this year then it has been in a long time. Covid kept the crowds down and the lines short. Big win in my book. Tried the deep fried gator. Tastes like chicken and wins my award for smallest 12 dollar portion at the fair. Save your money for a pretzel dog with 🧀 and 🥓 which is my new fair favorite. …
Maudie
Parking is always a hassle. The park and ride was helpful but there were way too many ppl to accommodate it.
Food prices were outrageously expensive. Definitely was fun but the prices and way too many ppl aren’t worth it.
Stephanie Heidinger
Spent all day here. Busy place, but big area to not feel so crowded. Food is decent, depending on what your looking for. Shows are fun, went to lumberjack & dog jumping. Lots and lots of vendors. Mostly everyone took credit cards (with up charge to use) and only a few were cash only.
Sherif Mohamed
Minnesota State fair one of the good Community visit and if you like food it’s have lots off food international food music fun ride for kids rides for adults cars classic cars antiques make sure you have tennis shoes so you can walk a lot one day is not enough
K Lynn
I have never gone to the fair and have this much less people in my life we went the very 1st day what did they say there was about 60000 you can't even tell it rained at 2 o'clock and quit within 45 minutes it rained again at 8:00 p.m. so all the night bands were delayed we didn't stay after 9:00 p.m. we weren't sure if the rain was ever gonna stop I guess some of the bands started at 9:30 p.m. way too late for us it was a great
But there was a 150 less vendors really in the scope of things think about that it was over a 150 to 200 places to eat from if I couldn't find something to eat something was wrong with m
It was a very cool day not hot in the least not a good day for vendors that way because they weren't selling a lot of drinks
My ultimate favorite place I courage everybody to try is ufta tacos it is an amazing taco not a taco like anything you'd ever try
Shannon doa played that day hadn't heard them in 20 years they did an amazing job they came out of course they've all aged but they held their own the music was as good as it was 20 years ago when I seen them I sure hope the state fair brings them back
Sorimar Santiago
The Fair itself was really good. Food can be expensive specially is you plan to be there for a long time. Plan ahead! Parking is very tricky and can cost from 15 to over 20 dollars. Then comes the walk to the fair grounds.
You'll have lot's to do, lot's of food to try, cool rides and live music. Try to avoid the weekends if you don't like overly crowded places.
Urvashi Desai
Martha’s cookies and butterfly house take the cake! The fair is huge so make sure you have comfortable footwear for walking. Please wear a mask for your own safety and the safety of others since its very crowded.

I flew in from Denver, CO & attended 2 days this year. No state fair will ever compare to Minnesota’s. The Miracle Birth center was so cool. This year I tried 3 new vendors just to support some new faces. The Cajun cheese curds were delicious, along with George’s fun foods swirl ice cream. I also Enjoyed several other foods including the deep fried pickles, & 1/2 pound juicy Turkey sandwich at the Turkey to go booth. The information booth staff, bus staff, & hand washing & hand sanitizer stations were also a huge help. Thank you to every employee, volunteer, & vendor who made the state fair possible this year!

The great Minnesota get together has been and always will be the highlight of our summers. There is always new attractions, vendors, drinks and food - which keeps it exciting each year.

The Minnesota State Fair keeps bringing in more ways to celebrate both the rural and the urban of Minnesota ....a challenging balance that's still a work in progress.
This huge event is still getting back up to speed after pandemic impacts, too.
I worked it this year, so not a lot of free time to check things out, but I saw more variety in music and food, and many thousands of folks from all ethnicities, having a good time !

Writing this because I miss Minnesota and the State Fair.
- This is some of the first places I came when I first arrived in the States. I came back here almost every year too. It’s crowded but it’s fun. I’m always amazed by the food here, the cheese curds, the cookies, smore, milk, and so many more.
- My family always get the coupons book so we got some good deals in that book. You just need to find the right booth for it.
- Beside eating, there are many things too see: the art, animals, machines, parade, music. I love all of it. Especially the art show and the animals. Love seeing people’s work showcasing and looking at by so many people.
- You should try to stay here the whole day and enjoy the whole fair. They have activities for all ages.
Definitely love State Fair and would love to come back one day!

In the 9 hours I was there, I witnessed nothing but chill folks. #MinnesotaNice was on full display. Even saw Senator Klobuchar!

A great place to experience a variety of things all in one place. It's a really great social event once a year, but it was rather expensive this year. Buy your tickets early, to get cheaper rate, and the coupon book can save you actual money, if you pre-read it for things you're actually interested in getting at the fair. If you want discounts, you're going to have to walk a lot for it, so make sure to bring frozen water bottles in your bags into the fair, to bring sunscreen, and my personal favorite, a baseball cap that you can periodically completely soak in the bathroom, and place it dripping wet onto your head. That trick really helped me stay cool, calm, and collected in the heat, and busyness of the fair events.

I enjoy going to the MN State Fair each and every year. There are sooo many fun, interesting, and educational exhibits to see and experience that it's hard to decide where to go first. The great thing is that there's something that appeals to just about everyone, no matter their age or background. From machinery hill to, the Fine Arts Center or from the International Bazaar to the many rides at the fair. Last but not least, many people come of course, for the vast and variety of delicious 😋🤤 foods. Whether it comes on a stick 🍡 or not, you are sure to find something to tantalize and delight your taste buds.

First time saw large gathering in US. Millions of people in single place, many events, many rides for kids, many places for food.
Carolyn Packard
Entertaining, fun gathering with many options for food and drink. *updated 2022 - credit cards accepted most places!! (2019 - Must have check card for ATM or bring cash. ) Friendly people and tasty treats. Alphabet Farm is a super opportunity for kids to learn and grow and have fun at the fair.
Nick Senn
A great time for the whole family. Make sure you pack the sunscreen and the water. I really enjoyed the museums and all the exhibits. My favorite food from this year was the hot fried chicken and the deep fried cookie dough.
Raul Cuellar
The great Minnesota Get-Together is back in full swing and better than ever!
Mark Madigan
This year the Auto Show was at the State Fair Grounds. So perfect to be able to get State Fair food. The new cars were outside which gave a better view in the natural light. They also had bunch of refurbished older cars in the Grand Stand Building. Parking was free. Better than at the Convention Center. Fresh French Fries, Cheese Curds, Pronto Pups, and Martha's Cookies. Yummy!
Rebecca Ann
Great experience! A lot to do and tons of great foods to try.
Darla K
So much to see… so much to eat… so much fun, even when attending solo. Had interesting conversations with volunteers, other attendees also alone, and bench seat comrades. Bonus—lots of steps in the six hours I was enjoying myself!
Patrick Puckett
One of the best traditions in Minnesota. So much to do, so much fun to be bad, so much food to eat. We go 4+ times a year!
Poorana Chandran
Fantastic Fair.
It's a real great MN get-togeter. Must visit at least once in life time if you're in USA.
100 of popular foods.
Good rides (bit expensive though:))
Cattles.
Horses.
Milk.
Ice cream and so many.
Tommy Williams
Still the best fair experience in the country! A little bit of sticker shock with food prices, but that's totally understandable considering the times. The expansions and improvements they have made on the North end and West end are great! The only drawback this year was lack of buses (drivers?) to service park and rides: the auto traffic in the general vicinity of the fair was horrible.
Michael Johnson
Had a great time went six days ate a lot of food went on some rides and walk for miles
Jacob Pribyl
Great place to visit for locals and those visiting from out of state. I actually prefer the events hosted here throughout the year besides the State Fair more like Back to the 50s hosted by the MSRA.
Highly recommend figuring out parking before going. There is some parking near the fair grounds and during most larger events nearby homes offer parking for a price on their property. Most larger events also offer free shuttle service from several nearby parking lots (which is what I usually do). If the event offers a shuttle you'll be able to find out where to go from their website.
There's plenty of options for food and drink, but a lot of the food stands only take cash, so make sure to bring enough. There are ATMs spread throughout the area if you need one.
Michael Birkel
Best state fair. All the different foods are the highlight. New foods are posted to the website. You can walk around with beers outside of the beer gardens now. Check out an event at the grandstand or in the colosseum. There isn't parking available in the lots unless you get there right when it opens. I recommend taking the shuttles.
Joshua Chandler
Love the Minnesota state fair my first state fair and chose this one because of the equinox which used to be in the UK although I’m super jet lagged i enjoyed my visit little shame you have to pay to enter but I understand it keeps trouble out

This state fair is very crowded and a pain to get to and park. The grounds are packed with things to do, exhibits, and displays. Older physical plant built in the public works era. Great times and much fun. Recommend going, just plan your entrance and exit carefully.
Marilea Niermann
Was part of Daliha Society and after showing enjoyed fair tremendously!
Patrick Haley
So glad to have been back to the Great Minnesota Get-together!
Cam M
The workers do a great job of cleaning up the grounds during the day and after everyone leaves, the garbages were obviously being regularly checked, the ticket lines werent as long as they could be since there were so many lanes you could go through.
The MN fair is a beloved favorite in my family so its nice to see it so well taken care of
Rosy Sánchez
This is where the fun stuff happens.
Tanisha Foster
I love this fair. I have flown up several times to attend and I am never disappointed. So much to do, see and eat. My grandson had a blast. It is extremely crowded, but we did not hear of any altercations. Tickets are prices and the activities cost between 4 to 6 tickets. I've never seen so much beer in my life and the concerts were plentiful too.. if you ever have the opportunity, this is a good to do. They receive over 200,000 guests a day.😯😯
Michele Olson
Love, love, LOVE the MN State Fair! We usually go once a year due to work schedules, but make it a whole day. Every year we'd park in the Machinery hill lot, and walk South to get to everything else. Giggles and our favorite corndog stand across from the Pet building are our first eats. I now have some mobility issues, so I was worried about all that walking. Well, we lucked out, found a FREE park&ride and got dropped off right at the West gate! We are doing this every year from now on!
So we spent more time seeing the sights on the South end this year, nice change. Even on a record crowd day, it wasn't bad walking around outside. We tried cream puffs, grilled shrimp, strawberry shortcake, cheese curds, corn dog; everything was great.
Buy tickets at Cub Foods before the fair starts like we did, more money for food. And definitely buy the coupon book; we basically ate foods that had coupons. There's a map, an index and diagrams on the back of each coupon where the vendor is located. The map zones helped too, and participating vendors display that they are in the coupon book.
We got a tip from a few people to buy the souvenir bottles, refills are $2-3, and you can use previous years bottles too! We handed out several coupons to people standing in food and ride lines, we weren't going to use anyways, and we loved the smiles & helping others to save some money!
Danika Tollefson
Faithful fair-goer for 28 years!! Sad to not attend the normal festivities this year, but the drive-thru was still fun and very organized! I was afraid we’d be in line for hours or something but it was so smooth!!! In and out in 45 minutes! Thank you fair staff!!!!
Linda Jasmin
always a great time w/ good food!

We are one of those Minnesota State Fair families that usually goes once or twice a year! It is definitely a local experience and a tradition for many. Do not miss judge this event before going and checking it out for yourself. They're literally is something for everyone whether it is checking out little shops from around the world or trying new Foods on a stick or enjoying amusement rides or witnessing the miracle of birth in the animal barns it is definitely an end of summer experience. There are great concerts and it's just fun to experience. Super family-friendly obviously!
Rain
A great experience for family & friends. Gets better every year. Good food, great fun and an awesome time as always. An annual event and my family and I always enjoy & look forward to.
Jireh Jaramillo
The Minnesota State Fair was really good this year! Martha's cookies are a must every year!🍪😋🙌🙌🙌 I had so much fun! The ferris wheel ride is also a must every year! I guess if you're reading this review because you've never been.
Basic things to know is, you should bring cash with you💵.
Parking by the State Fair is expensive like $20 for parking, so I suggest you use shuttles offered by public transportation the Metro has for the fair. Sunscreen☀️ and sunglasses😎 or a hat🧢. They will check your backpack or bag that you bring👜🎒. You can purchase your ticket at the entrance they accept cash or credit. Adults= $15, kids=$10. Obviously these are the prices for the year 2019. They might fluctuate in the future. And when you make it to the fair eat something on a stick or something fried!😉👍😂
Raquel Peralta
Minnesota puts on a great get-together!!
Allison Gladkowski
Best fair I have ever been to! It was hot and crowded, but I still had a blast! It's $14 to get in for adults and it's worth every penny because there is a ton of stuff to do there. Lots of food and activities and one-of-a-kind beers (try the s'mores one or the strawberry lemonade one!) The lines look long, but I promise they move super fast, even for beer and bathrooms. There is so much to do that I recommend going several days.
Scott Walmsley
This fair is a phenomenal representation of state fairs. We moved to MN last year, and have been twice. Even with record crowds, and we don't like busy places, the fair is so large we felt like we had space to walk and breathe. Rides were reasonably priced. Food was good, liked the fried cheese curds, tacos were hit or miss. Chicken waffle cones a must. Vintage tractor show a must.
Dawn Ritter
We love the fair! My favorite thing is to map out the new food and beer options. Makes it easier to navigate when were there. Don't shy away from going on rainy or overcast days. Lines are shorter and crowds are non existent. Fried Apple pie is soooooo good but do yourself a favor and try the new stuff! I do it every year. The Hangar is also super cool for drinks, music and food.
R David Koby
Huge, huge state fair. Can't take it all in with just a one day visit. Tons of exhibits, livestock, amusements and machinery More food than you can imagine or even have ever heard of. Lots of activities, crafts, exhibits, bands, parades, rides and demonstrations and more. Wear comfortable walking shoes. If you don't have a good time you must be a grouch..
Katie Grimes
Absolutely amazing! I've never seen a Fair of this magnitude and expertise. There was sheer delight around every turn! Amazing food, gorgeous animal barns and goods displays, AND The Beach Boys with the Righteous Brothers. Wow! What an amazing evening. Thank you!
I've definitely never seen an All You Can Drink Milk stand! Ate myself silly! Well done!
Brenda Whann
It's the fair, always fun! There are always new good foods to try, and also the stuff you look for every year! Lots of waking, lots of crowds. Only thing I don't enjoy about it is all the people walking around smoking. They now have designated areas for smokers, but many don't respect it.
cha chang
Took the kids out to the fair on the last day and it was pretty packed we had a great time. But parking is crazy and overpriced (cost more then the entrance fee)although we found a great guy with yard parking for only $10 4-5 blocks away. There was many things to do and enjoy but the kids rides were over priced, $4 a ride is bit of a rip-off. And adults chaperones will have to pay for ride fare that is unnecessary due to almost every ride required a chaperone. Although rides a rip-off we enjoyed the most of it. Most of the food turned out great.

Is there a better state fair anywhere else in the USA? No!
The Minnesota state fair is “the” best place for an afternoon or day(s) worth of fun, rides, interactive activities, some educational opportunities, and amazing people watching.
Some tips: get there before 9 am. The crowds will start to swell around 11 am and if you can get there when the fair opens, or anytime before 9 am, you can quickly live throughout the fairgrounds.
Buy ride tickets as soon as you get there. By midday the lines to get ride tickets can be 20 deep
Bring cash. Ride tickets and most food must be purchased with cash. There are atms but save the time in another line and bring it with you.
Slava Sponitz
If you like large crowds and greasy overpriced food like I do that’s mean that you would like any state or county fair. This year they add a lot of new food, but we were trying to eat old classics like fried pickles, roasted corn and pork chop on a stick and smoked turkey leg.
Brian Viengthong
The food is the same deep fried (you fill in the blanks). There always a line for something and the games all require 5 tickets which you get 25 in a sheet for $15. Although it can be pricey, there are plenty of family fun activities that require little to no cost. The butterfly tent is fun and the corn slide is a must.
This year I tied gator. It wad pretty good. You can never go wrong with sweet mathas cookies.
Michelle Perks
The State Fair is definitely a good time, there's sooo much to do. But you have to plan on spending a bunch of money and doing a ton of walking! The rides are good but tickets get used up fast. There's usually quite a bit of trash laying around, which is to bad visitors don't do a better job of cleaning up after themselves considering there are garbage cans everywhere.
Chad Clark
We went for a snow sculpture event. I was sort of dreading it. I'm not a fan of traffic, people, or cold. I was wrong. It was easy in and out parking and an overall nice time.
Jessica G
Lots of interesting fair food to try. Huge fair so be ready to walk. Loved the haunted house near the international pavilion. The bee exhibit in the agriculture pavilion was probably my favorite part.

The best time of the year is State Fair season! The food has classics like Sweet Martha’s but also new food every year like Nordic Waffles. The fair started on celebrating agricultural though! Spend time soaking in the fair’s roots by going through the animal barns and the agriculture/horticulture building. Don’t miss the seed art!!
Michael Rasmusson
A Great Experience every year. Please contribute to the Fair Foundation or Friends of the Fair to keep the experience great for years to come.

I can't get enough of the MN State Fair. There's so much to see and do. The food!!! Mostly I go to people watch and eat everything. Bring a group to share stuff so you don't get too full. 😜 I usually go once with the kids and once with adults. Totally different experiences. Must haves for me are the cheese on a stick, the deep fried twinkies and the malts from the dairy building. ❤❤
Jennifer Torres
Always a good time at the MN state fair. We start with history on a stick and shells beer at 10am. This year we did kemps helping hands early. The kids just love it. We have diehard twins fans so catching some ball is a must-do... We also visited the 4H building, ABC forest and math corner. Catching the sand pit at night was wonderful because it was less crowded. The kids also enjoy the kidway rides especially in the dark. We ate all the things - pronto pups, cotton candy, mouse trap cheese curds, burrito, dairy barn ice cream, sweet Martha's cookies, nitro coffee and more!
Lastly, riding the bus is our favorite part as parents! No need to fuss about traffic. Ya get there when ya get there and they'll take ya home!

Really is one of the best state fairs around. There is a large variety of activities for your whole family. Some of the best food as well. Everything on a stick! I would strongly recommend planning your day out with a map. As well as going to the information booths to see if people are running specials or sometimes there are food specials.

A fun place and event for everyone! We go here annually and have always enjoyed ourselves. The parking is always an issue. The houses around the fair let you park for 20 and sometimes 15. But if you drive around a bit you can find free street parking. Make sure to carry cash as most vendors take cash. However we managed to use our credit card as some vendors have a minimum and let you put that on a card. We are vegans so we looked around for vegan dishes. We had earth wings at French Meadow and ate at holy land in the international bazar. Holy land was my favourite vendor and they had the best foods!!

The Great Minnesota Get Together is one of a kind. Recently visited the Texas Rodeo and by far nothing beats the MN State Fair. The Grandstand for Concerts, Fry Bread Tacos, Martha's Cookies, the Pie Contests, so much more that can only be experienced in person. Spending 8 hours there is not unusual. One of the largest fairs in the Country.
Krrrag Say it like a pirate (Krrrag)
You could spend an entire day here and not see everything.
I went to the Iowa State Fair to see Bob Dylan preform around 2000 and I saw the entire fair in about 3 hours, it wasn’t much larger than my county fair.
A quintessential Minnesota experience.
Truly, something for everyone.
Every Minnesotan should experience the Great Minnesota Get Together at least once.

Fantastic place. You can spend time with your family and friends. You need at least a couple of days to know all the stands. Enjoy tasting the local beers and the terrific foods!
Collette Nicole
THE BEST FAIR! I travel from afar every year to attend the MN State Fair!!! I LOVE IT!!!!! Pronto pups, corn on the cob, cheese curds, sweet Martha's cookies, mini donuts, big fat bacon, pickle dog on a stick, strawberry shortcake.... 😋 😋 😋 just to name a few! Then there's the midway and kidway, and miracle birthing center, the grand stand, and the little stadium with the horse shows and things! This was my first year going in the little stadium area, I'm so glad I was curious! Those horses were AMAZING! Definitely a permanent mark on my calendar every year for FOREVER!! 💖
Kelzer21
The State Fair once again has come and gone. Nothing new and exciting. The best food item is a fried cheeseburger for 4 dollars off Midway and Snelling outside of the fair across the street from it. BEST FOOD ITEM!!!
Cheryl Goodall
Awesome fun so glad we were able to walk around and enjoy everything this year. Thank you Giggles for the best fair food and 2nd on my list was the bacon place right by my favorite radio station KS95 who I won entry tickets from.
Ryan Smith
Absolutely a must!! So many great Minnesota favorites to enjoy while exploring new items that you can add to your adventures while treating the whole family. Easy to get around and many helpful options if you need questions answered or where to go to find what you need. Awesome
Tracy Lester
Since I live in Michigan and we no longer have a state fair it's great to visit a great one like this one. In short. Had a great time.
Melanie Rivera
food was overpriced and not good. all the games are rigged. i loved the mocktails i had. my husband went back and got more for us! we bought a take home pail of marthas cookies and im still eating them! so good! i just cant believe i had to pay $9 for a sausage on a fork... 😫 and water was $3 at most places. thank the Lord that one food booth had water for $1.50!

I went to the State Fair twice this year 2021! The first trip to the fair spur the moment driving down the street and I said do you want to go to the fair and we said yes. The second time my daughter and her fiance flew in from out of town for a wedding and we went to the fair at noon and stayed for 6 hours. The fair has about everything you want to do you can watch baby animals be born in the miracle Barn. You can take a sky ride over the entire Fair and look at the fair from above. You could have saw the Doobie Brothers on stage in the grandstand. I love getting to the fair and being able to see the asphalt and telling the people you're with that before we leave you won't do not be able to see this street below your feet and it was true the fair was packed and the music venue was fabulous lots of choices.
Troy Baker
Are you hungry? Good, lots to eat + drink and many other activities for young and old alike! if you're spending the day I would say bring a bare minimum of $100 per person as it is a little expensive... but the food is great. with some healthy options also. and as for myself being disabled I found they do accommodate very well for handicapped or people with disabilities with easy accessibility. including wheelchairs, scooters, for rent. if you like to people watch, Food, the Minnesota State fair is for you. be prepared to stand in line, walkthrough crowded areas, is it is known for the second largest State fair in the USA as records can hit for a 10-day period of 2 million people! Have Fun.
Logan Paquin
Love the state fair...try to go at least twice every year to see everything! Tons of unique and delicious food options (turkey-to-go to deep fried oreos to bacon fluffernutter to deep fried pickles) and good drinks. A fun beer stop is Schells where you can get a blueberry or sangria beer with a frozen topper, nice for a hot day.
While it is busy, the people watching is top notch, and there is free music happening throughout each day. The Grandstand also usually has a few great shows each fair.

My family and I haven't attended the Minnesota State Fair in a couple years due to the pandemic. Since then the cost has gone up. Here is a list of current pricing. Minnesota State Fair tickets prices 2022: Adults $17, Kids (5-12) / Seniors $15, Children 4 & under are free. Parking cost was $30 this year. We paid $8 per 20oz beer. My family always enjoy the atmosphere, food and attractions at the Minnesota State Fair. There is something for everyone to enjoy! Attendance for August 28th 2022 was 161,252.
Pete Boisclair
You’ll find 10,000+ reasons to go and plenty more to come back again and again to the most highly-attended state fair in the entire United States! Make sure to grab a map at a Info booth to plan where to go and feel free to ask them how to get to your favorite food places as well. Definitely worth bringing a reusable water bottle and a reusable bag to help save money and carry any freebies or purchases you make at the fair, or just for leftover food! I highly recommend going to a Metro-Transit Park-Free, Ride Free Lot which are all over the Twin Cities Metro area. Parking nearby the fair is nearly impossible unless you get there super super early perhaps. There is plenty of free bike parking there though if you want to also bike off some of the calories from the cookies and cheese curds you’ll eat!

"No Words". It is a must to visit the great state fair of Minnesota. Especially, kids gonna love it. Also, for people who doesn't have a clue about country life can experience the live stock. Live birth giving process, different breeds of sheep, horses, cows, rabbit, pegions, hen etc. Hand made wooden furniture ( but pricy). Make sure you carry cash not credit card. All the fun games like shoot and grab gifts are very nice. FOOD: Varieties of food. You can experience everything if u go on a weekday . During weekends, you will find shoulder to shoulder people. I am not exaggerating. Literally, shoulder to shoulder people during weekends.

TIPS:
- There are some great shows in conjunction with the fair, like, Beach Boys, Earth Wind & Fire, Etc. Concerts cost extra, but pick a group you want to see and make a folder day and evening of it!
-park at Mall of America and ride the shuttle. $5 round trip, but if all you have is a $50, they might just let you ride for free.
-to avoid maximum crowds, go in the evening while there's a popular concert going on.
-Start walking toward the shuttles for the return trip home just before the nighttime fireworks begin. You'll beat the crowds but still enjoy the fireworks.
-the miracle of life pavilion closes early so if you go in the evening, hit it first.
The fair is enormous, the weird food is plentiful, the people watching is spectacular, and it's fun to see these earnest kids show off the animals they've been grooming all year!
Aleathea Modlin
Had a good time here. I must say I do feel discriminated against since I'm a smoker. I could not believe the small smoking area and no benches for people to sit on in the smoking area. Just because I smoke I don't feel that I should be penalized. I also feel that we should be able to bring a cooler in. I'm sorry I have children and it's too expensive to buy 8.00 drinks every hour. Air show was great. Thank you to all the men and women that serve in out military.
Brook Lemm-Tabor
So good to be back at the MN State Fair. This year's biggest pig (not the one behind the lens) as well as a contented cow, some fine art, some crop art and a scary scarecrow.
Tina Likness
Visited the Fairgrounds to check out the snow sculptures and sled hill. We were really impressed with the sculptures and had a blast sledding, which I haven't done in 20 years! Other than that, there wasn't much else out here. Snow golf was offered, but we didn't try that out.
Tiki B
Went early on a Tuesday morning. Not too crowded and perfect weather. Most things opened by 9AM
Dani K
Had a WONDERFUL experience at the state fair. Lots of great (and unique!) foods to try, fun rides, and so much to see. It is a huge fair, and there is a lot of walking so come prepared. I also really appreciated how many water stations there were, it was much needed in the warmer weather. There are so many different kinds of entertainment - worth going even if you’re not into rides. The Ukrainian dancers were so fun to watch, and I could have spent hours on end in the arcade.
Jamie Hanson
Best get together in Minnesota! Love the fair! It is always so much fun! So many good food finds and fun things to see. But by far people watching is there best!
Joel Gardner
This is one of over 10,000 reviews, so one for about every lake in Minnesota.
I've talked to a lot of people about this and it's not for everyone, but it has the best of what Minnesota has to offer. From agriculture, technology, food, rides, commerce, politics, people, and pinball, there is something for you to discover. Every year it is new, yet familiar.
Teri S
The Great Minnesota Get together, Bring your walking shoes and plenty of money. Lots of shopping and tons to eat. Live music, all over the fair and tons of great things to do for the whole family.
Ve'lay “Buttafli” Me'nette
This is the first year we didn't go to a concert but we walked it like it was our first time there. I love the fried pickles and turkey leg. We went to the Butterfly House. I moved from Minnesota last year and I'm happy I was able to go during a stop there.
David Thomas-Jensen
There are five named great state fairs in the United States let me see if I can remember them all, New York State Fair, Texas State Fair, California State Fair, Iowa State Fair, the Minnesota State Fair. I have been to the New York State Fair and the Minnesota State Fair. When I compare the two you need to understand, at the New York State Fair draws its audience from a small percentage a tiny percentage of the New York City population. Let's say 5% and the other half of the audience comes from everywhere else. Nobody other than California can possibly compete with that body count they probably have the largest attendance. The Minnesota State Fair has probably the second largest attendance at a bit over 1 million. The Texas state fair is probably the biggest as far as attractions and walking size, and probably our biggest competitor for food because how else are they going to get people to go out in the middle of a high desert and 120 degrees temperature and party if not damn good Texas barbecue. The Minnesota State Fair was the one that invented the idea of putting something on a stick probably with our original Pronto pup started in God knows 1939? This Fair has been around a very long time probably longer than any other Fair other than the New York State Fair. Probably because it gets so miserably cold here what else you going to do you better have a Soiree at the end of summer before you shovel snow for the next 9 months. Probably one of the most amazing people watching environments you can get to and participate in without having to join a religion. Smart Savvy fairgoers plan their meals. When you have hundreds of amazing decadent deep-fried Treasures to taste, and you don't want to fall into a food coma at noon and have nowhere to take a nap. You need to carefully plan ahead what you're going to choose to eat, maximizing your best eating experience at the fair. Savvy fairgoers also, determine in advance what they're going to go and see plan their route taking into account what they want to eat and try to get it done in one circuit so that they can walk no more than 5 miles while here. Savvy fairgoers wear sneakers good ones ones that don't make their feet tired after a couple hours of standing, standing walking eating these are the things you're definitely going to be doing here prepare for it. Super Savvy fairgoers bring a folding wagon. why folding so you can stuff it on the sky ride at the beginning, to take you to the far end, without having to walk there. This allows you to get your tour, and eating done, without having to walk more than 3 miles, unless you screw up like I didn't have to walk back. Enough said, those who know know the fair doesn't need any reviews because it's one of the greatest fairs on planet Earth. And is exactly what you should expect at an overstuffed overcrowded super Fair. So if you don't like people and you're not really interested in food, agriculture technology, vendors rock concerts animals, rides children, snacks upon snacks upon snacks... Then this is not the place for you.
Sandy Pukay
Went for the back to the fifties show classic cars. Awesome as always. One of the vendors sells fabulous outdoor items for your lawn and gardens. Visit them every year for great deals.
McVea Butler
The big get together, Minnesota State Fair. was fantastic! The star of the fair was the food. If they could fry it, they did. If they could put it on a stick, they did! And it was delicious. The live music was good. Be ready for some dancing. The crowd was ready for some fun, and there was no noticeable trouble. A little hard to be rowdy when you're stuffed with Turkey legs! I will be back next year. Until then, its granola bars and salads!
Courtney Trebesch
My husband and I ended up going. The day was beautiful and the food was. Amazing. My favorite part for me was the butterfly house. Best👏🏼experience👏🏼ever👏🏼 it was so magical and worth that 5 dollars hands down. I spent a good 45 minutes interacting with butterflies and I didn't want go leave. Of course it's a tradition for sweet Martha's cookies😊 it was just great day and one of my favorite State Fair adventures.
Steven Pfeiffer
I've been going to the State Fair since at least 1958, including a streak of 32 years in a row. I've stayed overnight sleeping in a pen in the sheep barn when we brought animals for 4H competitions, stayed until closing and been in line to enter at 7 AM. I've watched shows in the Grandstand as well as dirt track races before they paved, then removed the oval I've gone on days when you needed a warm jacket, day's when you needed a raincoat and a raft, and days when the sidewalks shimmered in the midday heat, and I loved every minute. There is nothing that compares the the Minnesota State Fair.
Cathy Chaika
The great Minnesota get together. You really need more than one day to see everything. There is something for everyone including food, drinks, attractions and more. Rides for people from 0-150 years old. Wheelchairs strollers, wagons and electric mobility scooters can be rented.
Tim Davis
You should definitely do your homework!
Know where to park, know which day to go, plan ahead for the weather and try to get there early.
The later in the day it is, it gets hard to move around, and some areas it is literally elbow-to-elbow as you shuffle through the streets trying to get your spot in line at your favorite food Shack.
Midway games and rides have stayed the same price for the most part, food and drink seems to have held its price point as well.
...as always you have to stop by the Midway men's club and pay adage to a Timeless classic.
Nayab Latif
Love everything about the state fair but giving them 4 stars because the card system for buying the ticket at the gate was not working and we had to wait for a long time in the heat and then would go another long way to another gate to get the ticket.
Everything else was fine.
pamela hebert
I haven't been to the Minnesota state fair for years now. I know it's still fun. But I am not able to go do to health problems. My favorite foods at the fair were corn dogs and tacos. My favorite ride at the fair was the tunnel of love. I do watch the fair on the news.
Josh VH
First year living in Minnesota and my first fair....wow! Coming from the already pathetic NYS Fair, Minnesota far surpasses all expectations! Amazing people, amazing food selection and the amount of things to see and do is endless! Can't wait for the years to come!
Arne Bokkers
Great experience, good balance between rides, shows, food, drinks and entertainment! Easily a full day of fun for the entire family. Bring a full wallet as you want to try as much food on a stick as possible.
Nikhil Sukumar
This is one of the biggest fair in the United States by average daily attendance. I went there on a weekend. It was super crowded. The fairground is adjoining the Saint Paul Campus of the University of Minnesota.
The fair runs for twelve days beginning on the last week of August and ending on US Labor Day.
Major attractions include livestock, food, art shows, rides,
I tried variety of foods available at the fair. Corn dogs, hot dogs, cotton candy, french fries are the Classic Fair Foods.
Milk shakes, cheese curds from the agriculture of Minnesota should not be missed.
There are a variety of permanent and temporary rides at the venue
Joseph Shakal
The great get Minnesota together gets more n more crowded. At $15 apiece to enter, two adults are already out $50. Of course there are all animals and 4H stuff but beyond that it’s turning into a giant “Hold my beer so I can .....” event. Beer here, beer there, beer everywhere! It was fairly (haha get it?) well organized and we never felt unsafe. The app should have a better search feature, showing exactly where the booth or stall is. Free WiFi is there, and fast, but only in one or two hotspots.
Tabitha Thompson
Great time at the fair!! I always say I need to be more adventurous next year and try new things. Fun time just be patient! Looking forward to nest year and my Carls Gizmo!!

So much food. You're feet will hurt by the time you're done but so worth it. First time at this state fair and it was so much bigger then the one in NC. My favorite part was the baby animal hospital place and all the new babies being born all day.
Andy Fallon (LT Fallon)
This is a great place. You could spend all day here. Lots of food choices, but very busy. I would recommend getting dropped off by bus, which was free, parking close is $40. Definitely worth going
Anushka M
Best time of the summer! Minnesota State Fair is always a fun time. So many iconic food stops, carnival games, rides and so much more. Of course you can't make a trip to the state fair without some famous food items and here's what we got as well as prices:
-Sweet Martha's Cookies $7
-Hot Indian in the food barn and got paneer pakora $8, butter chicken samosas $8, Kerala fried chicken Kati roll $12, and mango lassi $5
-Corn roast $4
-Caramelized banana pudding from blue moon dine in theater $8
-Vanilla and chocolate twist soft serve from the dairy barn $3
-Cajun fried pickles $8
Some places have a fee for using credit cards so make sure to carry lots of cash. All food was delicious and the employees know how to make a line move fast. Very quick and efficient! We also spent some time visiting all the animals and checked out the international bazaar as well. Lots of walking involved so be prepared for some sore feet! We didn't go on any rides but they are available as well as carnival games.
Overall so glad I got a chance to come back to the fair now that they've opened again. Luckily we went on a Friday when there was a chance of rain so it was a less crowded day. We got lucky and the weather turned out pretty sunny later. Can't wait to come again in the future!
Derek
Well worth making it down to the Great Minnesota Together. But plan ahead.
-Bring extra CASH. Both for Vendors and for PRIVATE PARKING. Many Vendors are Cash Only. You can get great parking if you're willing to pay up. Otherwise prepare to search, and parallel park, etc.
-Check the weather ahead of and day of. It can absolutely downpour.
-Wear comfortable shoes that you can walk-in/stand-in for multiple hours.
Seating is limited and remember there are many elderly enjoying the Fair as well, they are often in the need to sit.
-Plan for the foods you want ahead of time, print map online or pick one up at booth, post gate entry.
-Wagons work best with kids, strollers never seemed to be the way to go. Especially for diaper situations and naps, as well as carrying cargo and left overs.
-Most likely you will not finish all the food you purchase, and you'll definitely want it later. We always do. No need to waste food.
-If you have a wagon/carrier I recommend packing small to/go (tupperware) containers and a bag from home. After putting your left-overs in said containers you then stack them inside of the bag.
-If you want it get it, it's unlikely you will be willing to back track after passing an establishment. Be efficient.

Where do I start? Free concerts at so many stages main acts at the Grand stand this year with the Beach Boys and the Righteous Brothers so many choices for food our favorites cheese curds in the food building 1919 Rootbeer fresh French fries and Sweet Martha's cookies. We stopped at Mancinis for a messy Giuseppe which was very good so many vendors which Real Shark teeth in the International Bazaar dogbarkavenue in Heritage Square 2 of our favorites We always stopped at the Minnesota Gophers building stop and see the dogs with usually a show displays and of course animals this year we found a watermelon slicer which is sure to be easier than a plain knife. Now as far as getting there for quite some time now we go to a park and ride and ride the bus much easier than driving and try to find parking and they run often enough you can come and go whenever you wish
Jonathan Posthuma
The state fair is an annual tradition for me. Yes, it's busy, but thoroughly Minnesotan. Take the buses or public transit to avoid parking gridlock. Must see the Horticulture Building and try all the foods.
Val Sybrant
Fair was spectacular. Everything and all the workers so accommodating. Clean bathrooms everywhere and so many places to sit and relax. Can't wait for next year to go again.
JT River
THE BEST STATE FAIR IN THE US! I’ve been going since I was a kid, and even come from across the country now. So much good food and many things to see. If you don’t go you’re missing out. The Great Minnesota Get Together!
Chris Chen
What a good time. As you can see, the dog show was such a blast!
Bob Ryan
First time I've gone in 15 years. Well organized and well patrolled. Great variety of new things along side the old favorites. Well done, Minnesota
loveangel132
Always a good time. Tons of people. Only thing I wish is there were more womens bathrooms, there is always a huge line no matter where you go. But when you have 200,000+ people there it happens!
Rachel Pietruszewski (TheRachelPie)
I went with my neice and her friend, my sister and neice. The atmosphere was kid friendly and entertaining. There was many different things to see a snow maze for the kids and even mini golf!
Kelsey “Kitty” Mehl
I absolutely love the State Fair. We've gone annually for decades and I'm happy we could go back again this year.
I was ecstatic to see how many vegan and vegetarian options were available in 2022. The Herbivorous Butcher's Poultrygeist and Union Hmong Kitchen's Lemongrass Tofu and Sticky Rice were the highlights of my visit. The Vegan Arepa from Midtown Global Market was delicious and the Blue Barn with their breakfast french toast and sweet potato poutine was fantastic. As always, the cheese-on-a-stick by the grandstands is mouth-wateringly good (at the Summer Kickoff I bought 25 sticks to bring home). We were so full that we weren't able to try the sliders and marinara sub from French Meadow Bakery, but FMB has refreshing breakfast foods we got to experience during the kickoff. Another honorable mention from the kickoff was Baba's - their hummus bowls are salivating-inducing. I can't wait to see what else is going to be on offer next year!
Unfortunately one of the vendors we used to get all the time was severely disappointing. The Flowering Onion stand near the haunted house used to have a delectable item, but this year the breading was bland and the skin was still on the onions when they breaded it and deep-fried it. I paid $12 cash only to throw the whole plate away.
David Bird
Welcome back! Great times. Needs more mounted police.
Mark Ouska
Always a fabulous event and this year didn’t disappoint. One of my favorites is the Fine Arts building which has an excellent show exclusively displaying artists from MN.
Ketan Deshpande Minnesota (Ketan Deshpande MN)
Awesome food, beverages, music, shopping, people and experience packed in to 9 days of summer. Love the great Minnesota get together. Big thanks go to the organizers, volunteers and everyone that makes it possible.
Nene J
It was enjoyable event with my fam. One huge take away caught me by surprise was a couple spots at theFair Fries was so hard like chips, young girl was so stress it was not even 1030am, prefer my fries betterthan this because of the cost of these foods Oh my goodness, Mexican Hat Eatery Vendor,🤦♀️ how you gonna advertise this eatery Mexican Hat when your food has mystery meat, like Taco Bell at least I am aware on what I up against did not even give you a tomatoe, paid $26 for regular taco's & the hot tamales it was yuk,😝 so disappoint We wont go to that spot ever, fam did not want to cause a scene we took a lost, I hate they waste their money! We should have peep the space, of this vendor it was empty 🙃 when it is NOT a line the foods are NOT good majority of the time! 🤔
April Kuchta
The great MN get together! Awesome food, games, rides, entertainment. Cheap to get in and a lot of free stuff once you're in there. Great time for a while day adventure with friends and or family.
greg johnson
A lot of people and things to see and do. Free park and ride to the fair so we didn't have to pay for parking. A beautiful day and great concert in the evening.
Adam Hanson
A unique experience full of classic fair foods to unusual new ones. Worth a go if you haven't been for a while or ever at all. My personal 2017 faves are the walleye cakes and duck bacon wontons at Giggles and the triple truffle trotter at Blue Barn.
Michelle Chaput
Was able to make it to the last day of the fair and what a great day we had from the birds of prey to the bull riding and the cattle barn, skyride etc....really a must do each year
Cindy Riddle
There's a reason so many people attend. Be prepared for too much of everything. People, food, smells, walking, exhibits, and sugar. You can still find moments though. We spent an hour learning about bees and honey this year.
George Merten
I went to the fair on Friday afternoon and as I went through the gate I was stopped for having a leathean toolon. My belt which I forgot I had. I was told to surrrndrr it or take it back to my vehicle which was 5 blocks away. I surrendered it and went about my day. My problem with that is this. I had a pocket knife in my pocket that was not detected that I also forgot was there as I carry it everywhere. But my biggest problem is that I. Can’t carry a useful tool into the fair because it is a weapon but I can go to a few of the vendors there and buy the very same thing. Something wrong with that policy
Brandon Rothe
If you love people, food, rides, and live farm animals then YOU BETCHA get yourself to the great Minnesota get together!
No need to bring food (although you can!) as there is an absurdity of gluttony going on here! Bring comfortable shoes, sun glasses, backpack, and a refillable water bottle to get the most out of the fair!
Check attendance figures for previous years when considering what day you will go and obviously check the weather because sweating is in the forecast!
P Liebre
Another fantastic visit to the Minnesota State Fair.
Lovely visits this year, especially with smaller daily crowds.
Hopefully next year will be even better.
Martika
Weird vibe. Not a ton of interesting exhibits. It’s the fair but it felt like maybe they should have a better focus on community building, instead it is very monetarily focused.
Joyce K
Back to the 50s car show was amazing! So many cool cars to see and nice people from all over the country to talk cars with.. Perfect weather.
Bryce Andres
Tons of people, good ipa choices, got the sugar donut, bluberry, and key lime beers, went thru the haunted house, rode the sky ride, had a big brat, the gyro on a stick with some falafels on a stick, walked the dnr trail and got the password for the hiking club, and even got signed up for the sunday paper for star tribune. All before the grand stand event featuring the counting crows with opening by the wallflowers. I especially liked one headlight and a long December. Left on a bus to the new life Presbyterian church where there were some really nice people, and parking in the general neiborhood. Had a blast with a couple friends too!
Ryan Shipley
A must go. I've been every year since I moved here (9 years ago) and I'm still finding new things I haven't seen or done (or eaten!) before. Highly recommend the corn, deep fried ribs, and mini donut beer.
Tiffany Gutsche
Fun times for this family of four on a tight budget. Ok dog show was a bit cold by the third act we took off. Entered into Eco Building. Put on rain boots and warm clothes and braved the rest of the state fair. Sun came out again before long.
Alec From Minnenowhere
48th year at the Minnesota State Fair.
My favorite part about the Fair is that it's always the same and always different.
I can feel like I did with memories of my Grandma, then as a teenager with friends, then with my kids as babies then teenagers. Many years I've had to go two times to get it all in.
Andrew Powell
The fair was nice but they need to make better arrangements for people that want to use Uber or Lyft. The police had so many roads blocked off that the drivers weren't able to find a way to get to the rideshare pickup area. We had to walk a mile away in order to meet an Uber driver.
Mason Schierts
An amazing place full of year round events such as the winter carnival, car shows, and of course the fair itself. Massively reccomend going for food, culture and things to do.

This is a yearly tradition that we love and wouldn't miss. Every year there are new exhibits and foods. It's just the best source of cheap entertainment.
Dan Midthun
I go every year! I try all the new beers, and a few of the new foods. Great excercise, and the people watching is the best! Best fair in the world!!
Noah Lindsey
Fun as always. The corn and all beef corndogs are the best. Cafe caribe had great food and drinks too.
Jameel al Khafiz
I did the 5K and ate so many things. Have to go back again to come close to experience it all.
Jennifer Holmboe
Every year my family and I enjoy visiting the state fair, always enjoy seeing the new stuff and coming back for our favorites, I love our state fair, it has something for anyone young and old. Just wish it lasted a bit longer then only 12 days. It's definitely the great Minnesota get together
Herb Klemz
Went to Back to the 50s. 10600 cars and lots of great people. Good times!!
Paul Veit
Nothing like it! It's a 12 day party of food, beer, music, and shopping. Never miss it and go as many times as I can. So much to do and see.
RAMSEY BOYD
Back to the 50's car show. Most of the great food vendors of the state fair where open too. Over 10,000 vintage cars on display. Great weekend!
Jennifer Hill
Best fair in the US bar none. Clean, amazing foods, great farm and ag displays. All around a real food and entertainment treasure. You MUST get a bucket of Martha's cookies on the way out...oh, and milk, and a giant pickle!😁 …
Natalie Warren
Absolutely the best fair in the US. Pro tip: go at night and during the day during the week after school has started!! Less crowds. If you go on a Saturday you will have to wait 20+ mins for one item of food on your list 😩 …
Brian “Bo”
I've been attending the MN State Fair for literally my entire life. Haven't missed a year, well, until this year. And not it's not by choice.
(Note: Ive never got free admission to the fair and the only affiliation I have, is simply the love and memories I have of it.)
I've moved away from the great state of Minnesota due to life/career choices almost 2 fairs ago. I was fortunate enough to make it back last year, but due to financial obligations, that streak will sadly end.
I've had some of the best memories of my life on those fair grounds. Memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life. The beginning of the MN State Fair has been something that I have looked forward to every year starting on the the first Tuesday of September.
It's not souly because of the Ye' Old Mill, french fries, cheesecake on a stick, big fried bacon, haumted house, the skyscraper, tipping up a bottle in the midway, the insane amount of animals or the chocolate chip cookies...
It's all of it.
We have over a thousand venders that come and go that draw us to the fair. Some small... some large. There is a lot of new comers every year and the good ol greats that we look forward to from the last.
But we should never boycott everything that makes these 12 amazing days amazing. Unfortunately a torn apart family had to make a very tough decision after an owner had passed. From my understanding, this put the MN State Fair smack dab in the middle of this controversy.
This shouldn't stray us away from the thousand + of other venders out there (along with the hard working staff of the state fair)loose our business.
The Minnesota state fair has an obligation to make the public keep coming back with innovation and authenticity. But one thing that comes with that, is what only I can imagine is insanely hard decisions.
Big surprise the Minnesota State Fair is for profit, but how else would they be able to keep up everything from the landscape and buildings to the roads, parking lots and overall innovation. Without that, it wouldn't be the second largest in the country.
Yes, the original cheese curd stand will be have something in its place this year. But this is nothing different from year to year, other than it sounded like this time around, this particular deliberation took months to come to a resolution.
In end.... Don't boycott... But rather support the things you love about the fair and try something new, who knows.. maybe it'll be me next thing you love about the best 12 days of the year in MN.
Robert Atlas
First time visiting the state fair. It’s a must. The day we went their were 222.000 plus people that day. A sea of people! Lots to eat and see! A real people watching extravaganza!!!
H Frederick
ALWAYS a great time! Fair. Food...anything you want. One exception is the eco display which was full of unscientific info and predictions...as usual!
Guinevere Kile
My first time but definitely worth every step! Lots of fun for every age group. Will definitely be back next year
Mike Abrams
Fun fair experience, and a good selection of concerts in the grandstand. One of the top 5 fairs in the country. Worth a trip.
Eugene Crandall
Food on a stick! Rides!! And lots of people 🤣 …
Sean Conley
Goats and llamas! They're my favorite part of the Fair. Easy to spend a whole day petting animals, checking out exhibits, and eating.
Beautiful Earth!
Lots of fun $14 to get in . Wear comfortable shoes lots of walking.. Lots of rides Rides cost 5 to $6 depending on the ride.. Third largest Fair
Andrew Auchampach
What can I say, it's the state fair. As always the prices seem to continuously go up if not sky rocket from year to year. However the vendors seem to continue to offer up new and intresting foods, albeit most are far from healthy but what the hell it's the fair. The only place and time where we as Minnesotians can kick up our heels and throw caution to the wind along with our budgets and have some fun.
Jennifer Nguyen
Great place to end summer. There are lots of things to see, do and eat!
For nursing and pumping moms, there are 4 places you can nurse you child and/or pump. Rated in order off my preference. (2017 info)
1. Care and assistance facility on West Dan Patch and Leggett. Here in a private room, you can nurse, change diaper, pump (electrical outlet) and use the restroom. There's running water to rinse out your pump pieces. Comfortable chairs, air conditioned, nice staff. This is the best location IMO.
2. My talk 107 at under wood and Randall. This location is hosted by WIC. You can nurse, pump (electrical outlet), change diaper in a communal space. There isn't running water or a restroom. However, they provide essentials in case you run out: wipes, ice packs etc.
3. Health Fair 11 at Underwood and Dan Patch. There are private rooms (2) to pump (electrical outlet) and nurse. No running water or restroom. It can get very loud from all of the traffic.
4. TPT PBS on Cosgrove and Wright. This area isn't very private, however there is an enclosed area blocked off by black curtains. You can only nurse here or use your manual pump.
Thanks to Minnesota Department of Health for accommodating for nursing moms and normalizing breast feeding!
Larry Lindahl
It's the state fair, c'mon. Walking, eating, smelling, listening, watching. Everything Minnesota and more. I do not like big crowds but I make myself go every year and I enjoy it. And if you get there early enough, the streets are open and the bathrooms are clean and empty.
Joey Cortelli
Minnesota State Fair is rather a tradition for the Midwesterners to go and enjoy concerts, drink beer, eat lots of unhealthy fried food, listen to music and walk around and see the same things I've been seeing for the past 10 years. Nothing's changed except prices were higher this year. But we love it and we'll be doing the same thing for the next 10 years or more.
Jesse Cloeter
I could go EVERY SINGLE DAY! Going again Friday. When it's over I'll be excited for next year. Take the park and ride to get there.
Tina K
Always a great time! Many years of memories and great food. The crowds are getting to be crazy but thats what I love 😍😍😍 Now if they would build a hotel on the fairgrounds that people could stay in. Or little log cabins or tiny houses. That would be awesome. As always my fav food is the fries. …
Ryan Miller
I was here for the 2019 soundset. The facilities were set up nicely for a music festival. Plenty of atm...food vendors and port o potty. We got the VIP ticket which was a out 250. it. Got you seats on bleachers at all of the stages and special air conditioners bathrooms. This alone is worth the ticket. There is always parking and shuttles. Great spot for a concert.
Joe Obrycki
No better place to be in the summer. Hundreds of thousands of people coming together for the biggest get together of the year. Never gets old and I'll love it forever.
Cassi
Never disappoints! Extremely crowded, but that is to be expected. It's the biggest State Fair around and happens once a year. Tons of unique food and drinks. Always something new to try! Cheese curds, Dill Pickle beer, Roasted Corn on the cob, Fried Cookie Dough. Love this tradition.
Mason Y
Huge fair with lots to do and see. Really fun place to visit as a new resident of Minnesota!
Istiaque Ahmed
I loved the food and crowd!
Thy Chea
Have not been to Minnesota State Fair since 1992 living as a Teen. Now it is year 2021, and I think it is pretty good with more shopping & food. The fair has many international gift and food stands from around the world. Minnesota State Fair has lost a lot of business to County Fairs being better each year with the same cost. At 42-years old, I will definitely visit again next year shopping mostly.
Darren “Waazakone Binesi” Landgren
Awesome experience. Something for everyone. There are rides, educational attractions, merchandise building, arts, animals, horse shoes, music, beer, unique food, rides, vendors showcasing all of their products and services, w kids corner, late night concerts, gifts, wheel chair rentals, camping, and much more. Everyone is kind of rushed and overwhelmed but it's still fun.
Marcia Terazzi Basso
Fun, exciting and big fair. Every one in the family will love this place, so many things to do and eat!
Mrs. Sumner
The fair was so awesome today. The weather was perfect. The food was so good.
Forrester S
A lot of great vendors, was relatively clean for a crowded day. Favorites were the Turkey Leg, corn on the cob and the alligator on a stick but it really goes well with BBQ sauce
Amy Cluckey
The MN State Fair is awesome! We come every year, opening day. The baked goods competition is fierce. Walking around all day enjoying great nibbles, using the blue book, and scoring flavored lip balm is a perfect day. The traffic and parking when you get there is the only downfall, leaving is way better.
Scott LaRose
Visited here for the Back to the 50's car show event. I really enjoyed this type of venue for this. It was really fun to walk through, parking was easy.
Rafael Estrada Moncada
First timer! Great fair. I would encourage everyone to take the skyglider early on so you
can get a birds eye view of all the food vendors 😆 …
Harriet Om.
I had tons of fun. State fair is a must visit each year. I love garlic fries the most
David K
One of the best fairs in the country! I love to eat my way through the fairgrounds while people watching. There are so many things to see and do. I like to check out the DNR building and watch the fish in the pond. The Heritage building with the 4H projects. The fine arts building has great displays of art and photography. Then there are the animal barns. What I mentioned is just scratching the surface. The fairgrounds also host various other events throughout the year. Today we are here for a plant sale check out their calendar of events on their website.
Billy Tresco
It's in the middle of February but I am PRAYING soo hard that the 2021 MN State Fair will not be cancelled this year. I'm from Ohio but have attended the fair for the past four years and it's the highlight of the year for me. A huge variety of food choices and the entertainment offerings are endless. I will challenge anyone who says it's not the best fair in the United States! It is well worth the eleven hour drive I make every year to experience it over the Labor Day weekend.
Julie Cabinaw
We went on the last day and that was perhaps a mistake. It took ages to find a park and ride lot that was open (2 hours from the time we arrived in the area to entering the gates) and it was so so so packed it was difficult to enjoy the fair. I think we just picked the wrong day! The food we had was yummy but couldn’t find anyplace to sit and enjoy it for a second which was hard!
Michael Kelly
The great MN get together- what hasn't already been written?
I'm just going to share a couple photos to hopefully brighten your day. Give it a chance, and you can't wait until next year:-)
matt matti
Food parade 2020. Great atmosphere and a very special thanks for everyone who was there and for keep the fair going at least this way.
Jemma Hanson
The fair gets better every time I attend. Great food, music, and rides! I would recommend you attending next year!
Channa Peters
It's the great Minnesota get together! Every year I find something new and yet I still have a small but ever growing list of favorites to visit year after year. There's no better place to settle the debate on pronto pup vs. corn dog!
Alicia Lessard
Lots of things too and great food but way too busy with 4 kids. Would go to this with older kids or just adults.
Kevin F
Fairs coming up in a few weeks and I couldn’t be more excited, plenty of fun things for everyone in the family to enjoy and an incredibly diverse selection of food to try. Couldn’t recommend more. Although it can be very expensive it’s definitely worth it.
MNtwinsfan4ever
The food is the best! We go every year, it's a tradition for our family. I'd suggest to buy the Blue Ribbon bargain book once you get there. It's $5.00 and well worth it. This year we had small kids with us and they loved the rides and the raptor show at the DNR building.
Jim Haun
Always a great fair. Food prices are up. Coupon book is worth it. Shop around. Bottle of water $4, $3, or $2 in the same block.
Michael Calhoun
The best get together on the planet. So much to see, do and eat. Plan your outting before you go to maximize your visit. We spent 10 hours there one day this year and didn't get close to doing everything we wanted
Jessica Murray
Very cool snow sculptures in the winter. Would have enjoyed an outdoor ice bar or some more adult activities.
Eric Acosta
Great place for friends, kids and family! Even with a stormy night (past Saturday) it doesn't send you to oblivion and decide to never come back, in fact, you go home shower it off and plan the next trip back the following days 🤣 …
Benji Tri
While I don't enjoy paying to get into a fair, the MN State Fair is a unique experience that every Minnesotan (and others!) should probably do at least once.
Jen Butler
Always a good time with the family at the great Minnesota get together! It’s one thing we can usually get a couple of our adult children to join in on.
Bruce Lee
Always a fun place to go have fun. Other than the drama that happens every so often. Finely worth going though
Racquel Naylor
Go to the FOCI glass blowing demonstration. It was extremely interesting and fun! This is just one of the awesome things to do at the Great Minnesota Get Together!
linda vang
Great food, and great projects for my kids to play. The only thing is that its extremely crowded and very dirty.
John Edmonds
Weather was great. It was cloudy, so no sun beating down. Warm, with a nice little breeze. Park and ride was so convenient!
Diana Eide
I don’t enjoy crowded places so the fair is not my favorite. We do try to go every so often as I always think it’ll be fun, then I get there and remember why I don’t like it. Most of the food is ok, but it’s SO expensive. It’s fun to go if you’ve never been and then decide for yourself whether it’s good for you or not.
Jackie Kevitt
We go every year and have an awesome time. Have to get a gyro cheese curds and of course a chocolate malt. Watch the horse shows, and people watch.
David Olmstead
Went on a day with record attendance with 3 kids and still had a blast. Tip: limit kids to 2 rides out of the Midway. We have never had a ride meltdown. Our kids know we are there to... eat.
What to eat:
Wild rice burger in the Food Building
Freshly made pretzels
Deep-fried everything
Angel Conde
Went to Florida state fair August 27th I believe it was and oh my the food was delicious Nordic waffles/ Martha cookies with milk 🥛 …
Melanie Roth
Had a great time. I didn't eat enough thou. Yeah I know crazy huh!! Only ate 1 taco.
Joyce Kovacs
Great experience. Something there everybody can enjoy. Great art show. Be sure not to miss it !.
Olivia 73captain73
This was the 2nd year I went to the fair, and I had a BLAST!!! My experience was absolutely WONDERFUL!!! Do Urself a favor and GO to the Minnesota State Fair!!!
Arin A
First time at the State Fair and I was blown away about all the activities and people. It was an adventure. Lots of vendors and most importantly awesome food. Like the bowl of cookies and much more
Megan Matthew
The state fair itself is a great time! There are paved streets to go through and sidewalks throughout the ground making it more accessible for people in wheelchairs
Aubree Dill
I must-do in Minnesota!! Hugenormous!!! You need 2 whole days.... At least. Don't forget to take a bucket of Sweet Martha's Cookies home at the end.
Tracey Cramond
Look forward to the fair every year! So much to do, see, and eat. Parking not an issue this year.
Andrew Hanselman
Lights colors sounds and the food. And so much more. People watching at its best
So much to see and do.
Crystal Kegg
It was alright it could have better b the prices have gone up.sum Getting in nd food. But iam definitely going back tho next year.. 😁😉💰💰!!! …
Code
Always a great time going out to the state fair even in the winter to see the amazing snow creations. photos were taken in 2014.
Reinaldo Chacon
A foodie bucket list must, exotic and amazing offerings all within walking distance and all within the same grounds, visit the exhibits or take the rides to make time between eatings, would return all years if possible. Best fresh lemonade and corn on a cob of my life!
Joshua Barrett
The State Fair was great, a lot of cool foods and neat beers that you can only get at the fair! Plus there were a lot of cute animals especially the ducks!
Tried gator for the first time, tasted like chicken fried steak!
KJ McGraw
12 STARS MINNESOTA!!!
You’ve done it right again, perfect fair food, great crowd, good to be home again. Other States can only wish to be you.
leo spott
From scrapbooking to running into politicians this is the great Minnesota get together! This is the biggest event every year and it works because everyone and there work and hobbies have a space at the fair. From corny rides to eating fresh corn it is the type of place where you and your family can get a vibe for this great state.
Jon Strande
The largest gathering in Minnesota, always a good time for friends and family. Always recommend the French fries, and mini-doughnut beer is a new classic. Pro-tip: if you can stomach the long lines, parking in the actual fairgrounds is about half as much as parking in a private lot right next to it.
Mr k (Ed)
My favorite holiday of the year. It is the great Minnesota get together. What is there not to like to. The energy, positive vibe, the corn, the cookies…..etc
A must go every year
First Name Last Name
(Food court) Best Cheese Curds in the galaxy. (The Fair) Lots to explore. Very crowded.
Pierce Novak
The only reason for going is the mashed potatoes on a stick. Potato Man and Sweetie located next to the horse barn. Also, the corn on a cob, buffalo, lemonade, french fries are amazing. Don't forget to see the biggest hog and the huge horses.
Meghan Montoya
Definitely a summer tradition! The food is amazing, every different kind that you can think of. Rides, animals, exhibits, art, shopping. Our family looks forward to it every year.
Jason Buckendahl
Best fun ever!!!! Gets better an better every years my family an i cant get enough!! Love It
Brady Lange
Always busy but for good reason! Great selection of foods and drinks!
Olivia Kopecky
Been going to the fair since I was a kid. It's a great place for the whole family.
Paul Budziszewski
It would have been much more fun if my wife and my oldest daughter were into being there.
Aaron Dahl
Such a great place to attend every year. Great food, smells, people, attractions and constant improvements are always being made.
Tony Blume
Jalapeño Cheese curds by the big slide were great. It was a busy day today
Peter Fleischhacker
Our state fair is a great state fair. Plus. If you go for the day and run around the whole time you'll still miss so much. The best for me is karaoke at the beer garden, the art building, and the music being made everywhere by every kind of music maker. My top is to find the A line BRT and find a way to take it to the fair for a stress free arrival,. You'll need the energy later.
dennis cipala
The place with deep fried food, but not just deep fried foods also beers or alcohol that you can only get there. They also have shops there too. Don't forget the rides and fun games to win prize.
Sergio Meyer
The state fair is amazing. So much food and fun things to do. Very busy each year though.
Christopher Tales Franklin
Even though there were more people than I've ever seen at the fair, we still had a whole lot of fun!
Cake
The Minnesota State Fair is the best. Went to the Iowa State Fair in 2016, it does not compare to Minnesota's. The Pronto Pup is a must. Shopping is always interesting, never know what we might carry home on the State Fair bus. Rode the largest traveling Ferris wheel, good view. Bands playing at many locations & its free. Best food & drink deals at the Midway Men's Club.
Maggie Barnard
Great day at the Great MN Get Together and we all sweat together on 9/1/22 😁 Still a great time, really appreciate all the memorial benches. …
Jack Lawrence
As long as you're ok with crowds and you're up for experimental unhealthy eating you'll have a great time.
Darrin Thomas
Back to the 50's car show. Over 11345 cars of all sorts in one place. Hands down best car show ever.
Lori T
I waited one year to buy this cookies!!! My kinds wouldn’t forgive me If i hadn’t buy a bucket of this sweet treats! We love them! Worth the line!!
Jive Midnight
Always a great time to be had by all. Everything you can think of on a stick. So many different foods to try and every day there is new stuff to see. Ride the Sky Ride or the Space Tower for a great view.
Max Robinson
Greatest fair in the USA. Eat the sweet Martha's cookies, the grilled corn and the cheese curds. See the animals, crafts, and catch a show at the bandstand!
Jason Gudim
The Minnesota State fairgrounds were better taken care of this year, I found the bathrooms to be much cleaner than I expected... Trash disposal was a little bit behind. I was actually really surprised by the prices this year, admission was high but some of the foods look like they've been taken down a few dollars to get the food moving... I saw that a bucket of Martha's cookies was going for $19. I saw that from the street but that was kind of shocking to read cuz usually those went for $21 to $25 if memory serves me correctly in years past. All in all for people who just a year ago were scared to even see each other within six feet to be now shoulder to shoulder if not closer was a strange experience and I'll leave it at that. I look forward to going again next year if the economy doesn't collapse. :)
Caiomhe's Corner
Good food! Fun rides! Free rides to and fro! What more could you ask for?
Jen Peters
Wow! So much to do and see! Lots of great food, tons of rides, great entertainment.
D K
Never disappoints!! Do your best to make at least one trip ! It's well worth the drive !
M W
Great time. They offered military night ( Free) cant beat that!!! Thank you!!! The dragon lights were only $5.00 and light up snow cones $8.00. Loved it here will definitely be going back.
Nathan Smith
I will always love the Minnesota State Fair! I try and go every year! Can't miss it!
Erika Quigley
I'm a Minnesota native and have grown up going to the fair. You should try it if you were born here or not. If you dont like crowds go during the week, but its always busy just better during the week. Must see if your are in MN in late August 😊😊 …
Nicholas Oslund
I go multiple times every year. There is so much fun to be had, so many expensively delicious foods, and the people watching is unbelievable. They ALL come out of the wood work for this celebration. The amount of entertainment is crazy!
Mandi Barnes
Great fair this year, tons to do!! Plan to go a few days to see everything.
Ryan Rampersad
It's the state fair! It's an unusual year so attendance has been lower. Stay safe.
Mary V.
Only went 3 times this year. Love it. Do not like the parking arrangement.
Richard Stoeckel
Just a great time. Plenty to see and many great opportunities to fine a good deal on something you've been shopping for. I use the lot to go toGophers football games and ride the shuttle. Only $10 to park and get transportation to TCF stadium and back. They allow tailgating that adds to the entire experience. Always fun to mingle with other Gophers fans, and even with the opposing fans. Getting in and out is a breeze. Never any long lines. Plenty of trash containers and also have containers for recycling. I highly recommend the State Fair lot if you are going to a Gophers football game.
C R
The best fair in the great country of ours. So many different foods, so much to see and do. . Cheap also. We loved it. . Best place get some corn on the cob, sweet Martha cookies and bottomless milk next door
Queen of sheba
.Earth wind and fire and Sinbad as the opening act. Enjoyed my birthday at the Minnesota state fair
Bobby Stillz
Huge...will take you 9 years to see it all, but great time.
Theo Hughes
Family and I had a great time here lots of food choices and things to look at.
Toubee Heu
Always awesome going to the mn state fair
Michael W
The great Minnesota get together is truly a grand experience. Once you figure out parking (which absolutely sucks, so I suggest talking only one car or better yet none at all), you'll be set back in time a little bit to a true fair with street vendors, performers, and all sorts of day long entertainment. Where walking shoes!
Alex Moliski
Not being from Minnesota I decided, on a whim, to fly from Texas to see the Minnesota State Fair. The fairgrounds are massive and filled with friendly Minnesotans, fried foods, and fuzzy friends. I particularly liked the beer garden area and tried over 12 different kinds of local beers. Will go back next year.
Transportation was tricky due to the extreme amount of people. Patience is your friend.
M Cox
1st time going to the 50s car show. Had a blast, only wish my Dad was still living he would have loved it.
Brett Johnson
Hot, crowded and the largest daily attendance.of any fair in the US. Worth a look see...
Veridian
The great Minnesota get together, indeed. Lots of fried food (on a stick) and lots of music (live). I'm glad its not an presidential election year, it gets crazy political otherwise!
Miriam Ouellette
I can't wait for this year's State Fair to begin.....Opening Day is on my birthday 🎂 If you see me, say hi!! …
S Taha
Very crowded, but I guess this how state fair should be. food is amazing and rides are endless. I got fried pickles, corn, cotton candy and fries.
Konr Ness
I have visited the fair 19 years in a row with my now wife. It is not cheap, but if you go into it budgeting to spend $75/person you can have a lot of fun. For me, it's all about the diverse options of food.
Jenn Bigelow
Always a great time here! But they should def. add some Ag related degree/college options in the college building for potential future students, especially with so many 4Hers up there for projects and interested in Agriculture!
Rick Lally
Some good food. Some foods were a hell no.
E P
1 of my favorite place, never get tired walkimg, we did 15 miles and still don't see everything
James Hannon
By far this is the best State Fair in the nation. Make sure you start the day with an empty tummy because if you have a craving for some kind of food its all right here
JC Younger
Best state fair in the USA!
Conye
Disney world, but you wait in line for food instead of rides. Everyone needs to experience the Minnesota state fair.
Mark Gjertson
Always loved the great Minnesota sweat together. However the prices have gotten higher and the food quality lowered. Also many favorites over the years have been driven out by Fair politics. I understand prices need to go up over time but some things are just outrageously higher.
Deborah Kemp
12 funnest days of Summer!! Wahoo. I always go the 1st Friday, before the grounds get so trampled and destroyed. Must see.. Grandstand market, International Village, try the soba noodles with chicken, too much to list. Saw Brandi Carlisle at Leinnie Lodge. Soo fun. Great weather is setting attendance records. BIG shout out to HomeTown Mobility for my scooter rental and HealthEast for shuttle ride from my car to the gate. Too much fun and most of it free. The Great Minnesota Get Together is truly that. Come spend the day with thousands of your friends and neighbors.
Reda B.
I recommend to go there during the night. Good music and vibes. During the day it is very crowded.
Elizabeth Fluegge
We go every year we have a great time. So many things to do and see, it takes more than one day to see the attractions. Always check out the barns and 4-H buildings. A+++++
Ryan Larson
What is there to say about the MN State Fair that hasn't been said before?
An amazing place to have a beer, people watch, browse stuff you will never buy. It can get very crowded and some of the prices will make your eyes widen but we still go once or twice a year.
I totally understand the people that haven't been here in years also. The places can get sweltering hot and the crowds are endless. Still, it wouldn't be the end of a Minnesota summer without the State Fair.
Kerzy Tibok
Awesome fair, probably best in the country. Make sure to try the Miller's Cheese Curds -- they are to die for !!
Sonic Quick
Food, rides, games, and entertainment was plentiful at the fair but it was extremely crowded.
Jonah Olson
really good food and other things would definatly recomned but parking is a little hard
Robert Krueger (Dr. Krueger)
Have a good time everytime I go. We use the free park and ride. You have to enjoy crowds. Lots of free stuff to do and see but bring lots of money for food and drinks.
Rhonda Fenlason
We had so much fun. We even ran into friends & met new ones. Thank You! 9-1-18
Ben Allen
I love the fair so much. Hoping for an annual pass for 2020. And better music.
JJ Storland
Wide open space and we always enjoy waking around and looking at different floor options.
Teshia Wilbert
Had a wonderful time this year! From the deep fried Oreos to the roasted corn, the homemade fries to Martha’s Cookies!! Yummmyyy! Even walked 25k steps! Went twice in one day!
Carol L
This was my first time going to the Minnesota State Fair since moving here 3 years ago. It was the perfect year for me to attend as there were not large crowds there and I didn't have to wait in long lines to get food or drinks. The weather was beautiful. I arrived at 5:45am. Waited only 15 minutes until the gates opened for parking. I purchased tickets and a coupon book ahead of time at Cub Foods. I had a cinnamon roll and headed over to see the animals. From there more food, farm equipment and other sights. Because it was Military Appreciation day, I was able to watch the wonderful ceremony and flag raising in honor of our military. As the Star Spangled Banner played two military aircraft flew over. How beautiful. 🇱🇷 A great day had by all.
Jeri Bohks
Its ok. You know when you attend you'll spend lots of money. Food and merchandise to sell you. I did purchase xmas gifts though. Not to bad of prices. One very rude clothing store inside the pavilion that probably lost $100 purchase from me for being too hands on when trying on a sleeveless vest. I wasn't finished trying it on when the clerk came up and started putting her hands on me. I was with a friend. And was trying to speak with her. But over All is just s huge state fair.

Grew up going to the Texas State Fair, and this was my favorite state fair experience ever. Definitely go to the police k-9 demo and the lumberjack show if you can. Already counting down to next year!
Megan Lilly
Highly recommend the Salem Lutheran Church Diner! Lutherans are known for their Great Hospitality! Just dont bring in your Parrots!
Brianna Nauman
I always love the fair, lots of food and fun. Never disappoints.
Sheila V
Great food, rides, and shops. The coupon book is great for saving a big chunk of money.
Brett Thompson
Classic state fair, the increase of sweet Martha's location in the last few years was a great addition
Arin Wuraola
This fair was crazy. The biggest fair I have ever been too. So many people. I was fun. My only regret is I didn't get to eat the bucket cookies. I will have to go back next year for that.
Tracey Schuetz
Visited the park for a different venue than the state fair. Grounds were really nice and consider going back for MN state fair.
Kris Friday
Fun. Just fun. The food, rides, displays, shows, and all the other things were amazing. Very well done and I will be going back next year. Parking was a bit of a walk, but not too bad. Bussing is available if walking isn't possible for you.
Will Huhn
Great place to eat every type of fried food imaginable and see what Minnesota has to offer
Mckayla Smith
Minnesota Horse Expo
Loved it! I was there 4/14/2022 a lot going on loved every moment of it. Don’t bring dogs as you won’t enjoy it all. It’s always the weekend of Easter Sunday.
Andrew Schneider
Best fair in the world. Huge. Great food, animals, agriculture, and entertainment.
Benny Grover
Great seats at REO Speedwagon and Styx. Was disappointed in the animal sections. Most of the animals were gone.
Sludge Guzzlers
The Great Minnesota Get Together, the best state fair I’ve ever attended.

I love coming here and have been for years.
Antonio Garcilazo
Being from Indiana and only experiencing my local county fair, this fair blows it out of the water. With every type of fair food imaginable.
Kyle Wright
The Great Minnesota Get Together! Third year at this event and it's always a good time. Lots of walking around and checking out the food and vendors. It was not held in 2020, so I expected a much larger amount of people. I was pleasantly surprised when it wasn't crowded for our trip. Lots of interesting things to do and see as well as rides and games.
Jerry Kreckow
Wonderful experience. I wish they had more than 1 park-and-ride in the North metro.
Elizabeth Newmaster
It's big and busy but there are lots of information booths with maps etc available. Lots of fun, it's not to be missed.
Rachel
Really fun time and well organized. Only complaint is that it is just so crowded on most evenings, and all weekends. Parking can also be a hassle. I have had a good time here each visit.
Rebecca Ts
Pretty crowded on Labor day. Good food to try. Go to Sweet Martha’s and try their cookies!
Rob Miller
One of the best if not the best State Fair. Lots of people though, almost 200.000 the day I attended. So much to see and EAT! Super view from the giant Ferris Wheel!
Marisa Leggett
It was great!!! Sights...sounds...and smells...but after so many hours there...it got to be overwhelming...
Dallas Gibson
Amazing food, amazing people. Lots of fun when you go with family or friends
John Wazlawik
What's not to love? Food , fun, food, frolic, food and great people watching. Don't forget those Little Donuts right in front of the grandstand.
Sabina Bahman
It was fun!
Ramiro M Diaz Rodriguez
Family place ❤️
Xavi
No other fair compares to the Minnesota state fair. So much food here that I recommend coming with am empty stomach. And if you haven't tried "Sweet Martha's cookie's", you're missing out in life 🍪 …
Charles Cedar Jr
Always a great mix of traditional favorites and new things to eat, see, and do. An end of summer spectacle that should not be missed.
Jessica Hanson
It was awesome this year! We went on Thursday evening which was a cooler evening with little bouts of rain scattered throughout the evening. There wasn't as many people there as previous years so we were able to park in the lot, saw almost the entire fair and hardly waited in line at all! It was glorious. We shopped and bought lots of stuff as well and ate a ton of food compared to previous years as we didn't have to wait hours in line! Highly recommend going this year 🥰
Josh Vogel
It is always fun to try new food and the classics. There is also great entertainment and a lot of activities to try. The people watching is also worth admission.
Arielle Tiamiyu
The Great Minnesota Get Together amazing food, best state fair in the country!
Leeann Jorgensen
Always fun and slightly unusual fun. Skip the grandstand with poor sound and go to free music venues
Britt Nelson
Love the state fair! From unique beers to deep fried everything. There is plenty to do here for all ages and types.

Faith Teasley
I enjoyed the state fair if you are looking to pay to get into pay for everything state fair is the place
Marc Asch
Great Minnesota get together and best fair in the country. Largest daily attendance, wonderful variety of vendors. Friendly crowds, lots of animals, lots of horticulture, lots of things for the kids and adults too.
Andrew
So sad that its closed for 2020 due to Covid 19. I sure hope its back next year.
Jkobski
I love the fair, it's always such a great time. when i can actually get in that is. I feel like the parking situation is just unacceptable anyway you look at it. the close off all the lots, close all roads and any roads in a few mile radius have signs saying no parking durring state fair. which of course police are strictly forcing. It's completely unreasonable to host an event that so many people will flock to and then have a large attack force of police ready to penalize anyone wanting to park to get into the fair. Now I was not one to get panelized. I parked in the rapture center lot of the u of m but as soon as I pulled in they switched the sign to full. so really try the park and ride or just dont try it. I was stuck in traffic for 2.5 hours. it's not worth it. and for that 3 stars is a good review.
Michael Vitt
Lots of good eats and fun people/animals to watch
Monica Jeffery
The fair is awesome , something for everyone. Food, drinks, rides, art, games, people, weird weird people!
Mandy Griffin
Like a huge family reunion with all the best food and never ending activities. Excellent people watching. Try to go at least twice to take it all in.
Paul Hansen
Experience three great concerts; Montgomery Gentry, Dire Straits Legacy, and Gypsy.

Fun place! Lots of different foods to try and lots to see! The Minnesota State fair is either the biggest or is almost the biggest fair in the country! The slogan for the Minnesota State Fair is "The Great Minnesota Get-Together" no wonder it feels like its a way for Minnesotans to get together and have a great time! It can be very crowded though and it can be easy to lose someone in the sea of people but otherwise its a great place to go! 😊
Carol Orcutt
Weather fought us, Covid fought us, Vendor's cancelling fought us, Music Shows cancelling fought us and we still had a great time.
Manjusha Keni
Lots to do and see. Every food imaginable on a stick! Quite an experience.
Vince Aimutis
Always love the fair. Whatever your fancy, there’s something for you. Foods, Beers, People Watching, Midway Rides, Knick Knacks, Animals, etc. Lots of people so pick a day/time that isn’t as busy if you don’t like crowds.
New foods and beers every year, but the classics remain as well.
Oma Mansaray
Had a great time. Went twice this year once with kiddos and then date night/day
Sassy SlayJ
We always enjoy the haunted house and the food too! We try to go early to avoid the crowd but this particular day was a Saturday so it was packed. Nonetheless we had a good time and saved money purchasing tickets from a family friend.

It was great not having to wait in long lines, liked the new exhibits or vendors. Didn't get a chance to try new foods!!! Would have liked better grandstand shows!!! Wanted to go back for seconds, but was in a car accident. Thanks Security Staff for allowing it to happen this year!
Clifton Vollendorf
I was there when the bullets were flying and survived so it was a decent time.
Ron Ausen
Linne stage: earplugs required; why didn't they provide for this decibel hazard?
Adam Zimmerman

Tacos right outside the fair and there is a THC Delta 8 booth right next to it called Kooka
Sean Werner
Everyone needs to go at least once! So you can decide for yourself because I know I will be going back, if not for just the fried chicken and buckets of cookies.
Michele Munson
What a lovely day had by all 8/31/21

Although it kind of marks the end of summer but no summer can ever feel complete without visiting the fair.
Clarinda Dodson
Great fun to look forward to every summer! Great food, great people watching.

Biggest State Fair in the United States. 12 days of fun ending Labor Day. If you're just visiting or new to MN, one shouldn't pass up chance to take in the sights. So many foods on a stick and great place to people watch!
