Reviews of The Arboretum State Botanical Garden of Kentucky
This is a wonderful community location with so much to offer. A variety of themed gardens set this apart as an overall positive experience. Friendly dogs are welcome (on leash) and on our visit were plentiful. If you politely ask, the vast majority of the dog owners will allow you to love on their fur baby. The arboretum is an outstanding venue for families and the paths are easy to navigate. Most of them are very handicap friendly. No admission and all the walking paths have educational signage that is helpful. Highly recommended.
The Arboretum is a really nice place to walk about (as much or as little as you like). Lots to see (different views, different flowers and plants, depending on the season). Joggers, dog walkers, couples (seniors and young alike)...different gardens in scattered about areas throughout, beautiful organized and marked (many plants are labled/tagged for identification)... you may come across artistic creations and metal sculptures and fountains also. Great place to unwind and enjoy a peaceful walk, or run...and educational, as well!
Such a wonderful place to visit, any time of the year. There is a good variety of flora to explore. There is essentially one main walking loop with a few side trails, but in the end that’s not really a detractor. Sometimes parking in the main lot is a bit tight or the restrooms are closed, so make a pit stop before you go.
We have never been here before , came from over by Louisville. Not a lot was in bloom so wasnt expecting that. Still was pretty and well kept. Loved the sculptures throughout. Was disappointed in the size, looked bigger online. I will say will not go out of way to come back, maybe for the monarch migration.
I'm so glad I made the stop to visit this beautiful arboretum before leaving Kentucky on my road trip! I was worried that since I was visiting in October, there wouldn't be anything blooming, but i was wrong! There were so many beautiful flowers blooming, some I had never seen before! There are plenty of trails and wooded areas great for walking or jogging, and a beautiful trail that meanders through the gardens and has sign indicating each plant's scientific name. There is even a trail garden where they grow flowers to test out for a local nursery!
Lovely gardens and Arboretum. A little weird to be asked why I want to enter the children’s garden (by staff)without having children with me. Gardeners often have Children’s Gardens or corners in their own gardens. How will people learn about Children’s Gardens without observing them? Adults viewing gardens are just that-adults viewing gardens. Also, some of the gardens, especially in the Children’s area, are quite overgrown.
A beautiful park south of campus right beside Kroger Field with several walking paths. The best views are occur at the start of fall when the leaves turn blood red. The variety of crops were interesting to observe.
Loved this place! This Botanical garden is free and has an extensive variety of plants with description.
Definitely a relaxing and beautiful stop if you are visiting Lexington /UK. They also have crops growing and you can see the gardens.
Big park with plenty of paths for walking or running.
Interactive trails for kids.
This is one of the best places to come for a nature walk in Lexington. So beautifully planted, it’s still early, but the daffodils and tulips were in full bloom. It was nice last weekend, tons of dogs being walked, lots of photo shoots, people lounging in the grass. Just a great Saturday at the arboretum.
Stunning grounds. Such a neat stop on our vacation! Make sure you use the restroom before coming- their visitor center was closed and other bathrooms were locked!
I always love going to the Arboretum. Its well taken care off, so peaceful. The diversity in trees, flowers and greenery is great. My family and I always truly enjoy our time there and I personally go to walk there evety morning and is just perfect!
Really great place for a short or long walk. There's a lot of little trails to choose from. Lots of plants and flowers to see.
Very pleasent place for a stroll. Also has a Sensory Garden for children accompanied by an adult. Well laid out for various walk distances. Don't think biking is permitted. Plenty of parking
Amazingly gorgeous trails! Miles to walk and plaques detailing different plants. Lots of open spots and wooded trails as well. Will come back again and again!
Gorgeous and well maintained. Perfect for strolling, picnics, Frisbee, or just a casual afternoon. It's a shame no bikes are allowed but also understandable.
This is a hidden gem . The park itself is free.. I think the children's garden is like $2.. in this area children and adults alike are encouraged to interact with many hands on activities. It also provides access to play in the stream to cool off. Ideal for a day with the kids, or an awesome date.. 😉 …
Nature trails, gorgeous scenery, people doing graduation photos, engagements, we stopped on roadtrip to stretch our legs and weren't disappointed :p
Nice place but it has a potential to be much better than this. Nice location for running and walking or simply enjoying the beautiful scenes 🙂 …
What a beautiful Arboretum ! Came today with snow covered paths which was beautiful! Love the trails & energy of the space ❤️
Well maintained asphalt walking path as well as a trail that runs through the space. The path is about 3 miles with two loops back to the visitors center. The grounds have a variety of layouts that mimic the geography of Kentucky.... Bluegrass, plains, appalachia, etc. Take your kids! It's a great place to watch the sunrise fill up the sky.
Peaceful place to visit, even on the weekend. I should add however that my husband and I took our son early on a Sunday morning. By 10am, we were done and heading back to the car. St that time, the parking lot was getting full. There are so many different areas to appreciate within the arboretum: there's an herb garden, the rose garden, a section of home landscaping trials, botanical contests and the winners, there's a memorial to lives perished in a plane accident back in 2006. There are benches to sit and enjoy. A pond wih koi fish. Trees to wonder at. I can go on actually. Unfortunately, we did not go into the children's garden, as it was closed on Sunday morning. Too bad that the hours are within the time most people are working. Overall, it is a beautiful place to enjoy the beauty of nature.
Took my canine son last Sunday & even though it wasn't exactly a gorgeous day (it was drizzling & overcast), it was still beautiful & we had so much fun that we're going to go back today.
I’m a travel nurse and my days off are spent walking/hiking w my dogs. This is the only place in Lexington with a decent trail (two miles) tnat is actually in nature with appealing surroundings. There are other parks with paved trails but those seem to always be next to a highway or less than half a mile long. Lots of others here walking or jogging but it’s not overly crowded and definitely worth a visit if you are craving an escape from the burbs.
I visited during late October just as all the leaves are turning yellow and orange, so the views of the trees were so beautiful! Only thing is at this time, the flowers aren't blooming as well. There's a nice long trail to walk om woth your pups and so many huge trees to just sit under and enjoy the scenery.
I absolutely am in love with this place! I love walking and hanging here with friends or just by myself. I find myself coming here more alone because it’s such a great walking path and the perfect thing to recharge from the day. It takes me an hour and about 2 and half miles long for the whole circle. It brings me so much peace
Spring is a great time to visit this botanical garden. The flowering trees, shrubs and bulbs are delightful. This is not the biggest or best garden I've seen, but it is very nice and it is free. The grounds are well kept and I really enjoy the sculptures too. In the summer the roses are very nice.
Beautiful place, lots of flowers. Great walking paths. Great Kids Section Open...
We enjoyed the free walk when we came after the children's garden was closed. There were so many trails, fruit trees, and flowers (mid September) to see. Several pathways were paved and shady. I hope to return!
It was very lovely. Open grounds. Convenient and practical parking, nearby on campus restroom, lovely flower beds, clean environment with decent, family friendly activity and nature. Great for couples, singles, or elderly to visit and relax.
I love this place for it's variety of trails, and botanical selection. Great place to retreat, take a walk, catch Pokémon, or snap some pictures. Photography sessions for professional portraits requires a license from the park. Lots of dog walking. Fairly busy.
I my goodness, I didn't know there were so many trails throughout this arboretum. I went a couple years ago and just walked around the flower garden, but there are so many walking trails and running trails and it's just beautiful this time of year.
Had a great time. Plenty of natural beauty that has been well cared for. Unfortunately the children's garden was closed but just gives me a reason to come back later
Perfectly peaceful place & full of wonder, with flowers in some corners, trees in others, loved, loved, loved the logs all over & the open grassy areas with logs & tree trunks for kids to play & grown ups to sit, relax, talk & make friends.
Went there with a beautiful group from the Seventh day Adventist Church I visited today... They had planned a picnic where most everyone brought their own food, just to be safe, & i was treated to a delicious veggie sandwhich with grapes, chips & oranges... Water for our walk & just a fabulous time all around.
If I were moving to this area, this would be my Church, for sure. Thank you Christina, the Pastor's wife who so lovingly greeted me this morning after Church, & Pastor Carlis Clinton for the invitation to spend the day with you all. The Service was pretty awesome with an amazing testimony of what Hid can do in our life, if we just seek His face.
Come check them out too, at: SDA Church:
980 Lane Allen Rd. Lexington, KY... 40504
One the best and prettiest parks in Lexington!! It has a bunch of different types of flowers and plants from all around the world! And the way everything is organized and placed is phenomenal!! Including information about many of the flowers and plants in the park which is amazing so people can learn more about them.
Expansive, scenic area to walk, hang out with friends, jog, do schoolwork and so much more. Multiple trails and paths provide enough distance for long walks or runs, while large fields and open spaces provide great sitting areas. Gardens are themed to represent the natural zones of Kentucky, along with some more specific demonstration gardens.
Such a beautiful place and wonderful to see the local flora. I love walking the grounds looking for new plants. I always learn something new.
This is a very nice place near horse park, Kentucky for some evening activities. This botanical garden is under University of Kentucky. Many research scholars from different departments of UK set their experiments up there and this is so cool. Many trees are planted there with relevant and important informations. I found many known and unknown flowers and it was so beautiful. Few places were full of eye catching and eye soothing greenery at the same time. Many metal statues with fountain and monuments/ memorial are there. It’s quite a long walk to take a full round the perimeter but very enjoyable and all the way it was baby stroller/wheelchair friendly. Park was crowded but as it was big enough so maintaining social distance was not a big deal.
So relaxing. So much fun checking out the different species.
This was a neat place to visit. There were lots of trails and plants. Lots of room and everyone was very friendly. If you are looking for a free place to go in Lexington, this is the place.
Beautiful gardens. I'm definitely coming back for a picnic or to hang out and read a book.
Beautiful. Dog friendly. Family friendly.
When we lived in Lexington, we were here almost every month! There’s so much walking and discovering, especially with a toddler! Don’t miss out on the Children’s Garden!
Really cool place to take a walk or run. The grounds are dotted with trees and flowers. There are many different paths to walk on. The paved path is around 1.5 miles if you walk the whole thing. Dirt paths run throughout the arboretum and in the back are a small network of "trails" to hike or run. Lots of open space and benches to sit on. Good for people and puppy watching!
Good place to walk, run, and hangout with friends near UK!
Beautiful, and free just hard to park when there is a game at the university. On game days all the facilities are closed, childrens gardens, bathroom, welcome center, even the parking lot. But worth the trip back on a non game day.
Very meticulously maintained arboretum. A wide variety of plants, shrubs and trees, native and from other parts of the world. Rose garden is not very impressive. Many species did not have identification tags. There are only rudimentary touristy maps, no maps in detail that shows what's planted where. There's a nice paved trail and mulched trail all around. Certainly an interesting, educational, recreational space for children and adults alike.
The arboretum was a great place to spend a few hours walking around and exploring rolling green hills, gardens, and woods. The park is very clean and there is plenty of space to feel seclusion if desired. There was surprising variety of trees, shrubs, and flowers. Also a great place for a picnic - highly recommend for a pleasant sunny day!!
So beautiful. Quiet. Fresh air. Great walk around.
Beautiful paved trail about 2 miles long. Great for walking / running. Many dirt trails through woods, gardens and wetlands. This place is a treasure! Lots of benches. There is a "Story Walk" for the kids.
Awesome gardens near the stadium we visited the children's garden as well and it was a really awesome experience for our small children.
A favorite spot in Lexington to walk in peace among beautiful flowers and plants. The children's garden is so much fun.
This was a great outing for our children and us! We only experienced a small part of the park, but it is an amazing escape from the city while being in the near center of it. We walked the 15 acre woodland area and saw many trees over 300 years old and a couple that were 400+ years. Thorough explanations of plant life cycle and and soil types in Kentucky. Can't wait to return and see what else is here!
The trails are a mile to two miles around the Arboretum; they're easy trails, and there are benches along the route. In the middle, you'll see plants and flowers which give out beautiful blooms in spring. It's a nice area to unwind after a long day.
Beautiful place to get out and walk around. Not a lot of shade though. Bring sunscreen! I saw a katydid on the bench and took a picture.
Nice ground to walk around. In different season, it looks different and beautiful.
It was a nice free walk and the great place to explore. Don't go on a super hot day because there isn't a ton of shade.
Beautiful scenery. Very clean and enough spacing for people to social distance. Friendly environment
This is a beautiful place to walk, run, or just hang out as a family. The long paths are great for walking or running. The shorter paths are beautifully landscaped and have a cute walking storybook. We haven't tried the kids garden but I've heard it's great, and it keeps kids entertained for hours. The garden does have an entrance fee.
Absolutely a wonderful place to learn about nature, from the native plants in Kentucky to the insects and the very interesting creatures that surround us. Great place to take the family!
A beautiful place to get away from the city and enjoy a stroll through a landscaping art work. The trees are planted according to the various landscape found in the regions in and around all of Kentucky state. Great place to walk or run around. Unfortunately, any sort of wheels including bikes and skateboards are prohibited.
Also, a beautiful place to get engagement/wedding photos in the various flower gardens and architectural structures.
Beautiful place for a walk, lots of different plants and art. Different paths to walk, longest is 2 miles.
This place is like a magical garden ✨ I explored many hidden areas and met some wonderful pets and home owners who was super friendly and kind with conversations 😊 I found me a new sacred space …
Wonderful place for a long walk or to take photos of flowers and birds and bugs. Always a pleasure
Well maintained, free to visit (except for the kids’ garden, I love the regular garden, and there’s a beautiful forest.
Absolutely beautiful place. I can't wait to visit again!
Wonderful smells coming from all the flowers blooming. The lady at the center was friendly and had lots of information about the Arboretum and the walking trails. I especially love the place in the photo below. It reminds me of Greece or Italy.
The Arboretum is a fantastic 2 mile walking track (with a 1/2 way intersection) that is always well manicured and clean. The Children's Garden near the parking lot is a great place for kids to explore and learn about nature/gardening.
Very beautiful, large area to enjoy the outdoors. Lovely landscaping, neat events, tons of space. A true gem of Kentucky.
I've spent so much time here for so many different reasons. Sometimes it's just to walk by myself, another time was for a full on photo shoot. Even in the end of winter it's a great green space to visit! Word of caution: prom season brings all the lovely young people to take their pictures there so it's usually super packed and hard to find parking then.
Such a beautiful place. Not only that but everyone there (visitors) were very friendly. Great spot for photography, met a few others! Most definitely will be coming back to visit 💖 …
Beautiful place to talk a long walk or have a picnic. My daughter absolutely loved it.
Love, love, loveeeeee this hidden gem! If you're looking for beautiful scenery this is the place to go! Free parking, kid and pet friendly wonderful break from the stress of everyday life.
I love this place. Recommend visiting during the spring or summer months when plants are starting to bloom or on full display. Do NOT recommend visiting without Claritin or some other decongestant if you have allergies, though.
Bring a bike if you want to go around the whole path quickly, bring some water and a snack or something to eat if you plan on walking the duration of the path.
Great place to see home landscape options for sunny and shady gardens.
It is the most beautiful Arboretum in Kentucky if you are around you must busy this place.
This is a beautiful garden and arboretum. Lots of paths to take you through all of the different areas.
It's definitely worth the trip. Its beautiful out there.
The arboretum has a lot of low impact, high scenery trails throughout its grounds. So it is a great place to go on a long walk or a run. There is a main trail that circles the broader part of the grounds, but there are also offshoot trails to explore. My favorite one of these is the heavily wooded and serene one. You'll find the entrance next to the fallen tree.
The kids area is nice, too. There is a wonderful little stream that runs through it, and it's fun, especially on hot days, to wade and splash through it with the children. There's a lot to learn here about nature, too. We like to meet with friends and their children here.
There were many walking paths and so many beautiful places to sit and enjoy the nature around you.
Always a beautiful place! Definitely one of the best parks in Kentucky! If you're looking to learn, there are guided walks through the arboretum to learn about native species. If you're just looking to relax, there are many paved paths, as well as some dirt trails in a small forested area.
Visited for my 1st grader's school field trip. Volunteers were awesome in leading the different activity stations set up for the kids. Everything was well-maintained, and a great experience for the students.
Nice quiet place. The plants in the gardens were well labeled, but not on the walking trails.
I love the Arboretum! Beautiful place for a walk and has a children's garden area
Nice place to take a nice walk and watch birds! I also liked that most of the trees and bushes were labeled so you knew what they were.
Lots of plants and well maintained walking trails. I did visit during a drought and a lot of the plants were wilting. Will be making a return trip another time.
Always a wonderful place to visit any time of year. We're lucky to have it!
Such a beautiful place
Beautifully landscaped, nice gift shop, & wonderful walking/jogging trails.
Stunning view with a safe path to follow. Great displays for the season.
Beautiful place to view the wonders that mother nature, the hard working UK agricultural department, Master Gardeners and volunteers can bring. Lots of opportunities for picture taken with great, natural backdrop. Peaceful place to walk, including with your four legged friends. Just make sure to pick up after them. Parking can be a premium, especially on the weekend so keep that in mind.
Perfect place for a long run over rolling hills. If you're into Pokemon Go, this place is replete with pokestops
Big open green spaces with a paved walking path that circles the place. There are washrooms of the parking lot that are always open. The outhouses by parking lot are locked. The trees are set up by geographical areas. Would like to see more directional signage and distances of walking paths. Relaxing and you can bring dogs on leash.
It was my first visit to a botanical garden and unfortunately I wasn’t impressed. It was just okay. Maybe I missed something.
This is a beautiful park. Walking trails, flowers and water fountains. Wonderful spot for the kids.
Great place to walk and relax , great for young kids too
Great walking path and nature area south of downtown Lexington. Bikes aren't allowed on most of the paths. There are also short hiking trails in the wooded sections of the arboretum.
What an excellent place to bring a toddler for hours of fun outdoor time. There are functioning toy Thomas and Percy model trains, sand pits, a wading creek, watering buckets, and more in the children's garden. The botanical garden is also great for adults. Great way to get outdoors with the family!
Really nice place to disconnect and take a walk while enjoying green and flowers
Great spot in the middle of Lexington to walk around and see all the flowers and plants and the tribute to the flight that crashed years ago
Beautiful and an absolutely wonderful place to go to think and be one with nature. ❤️
All but a few flowers dead. I know there has been little rain and end of season
We saw this a bit out of season, but it was still beautiful considering! Some of the flowers were dying but many of the other beautiful ground cover was just amazingly beautiful. It was a great place to walk and just enjoy nature especially amidst a road trip.
Beautiful place for a walk. Clean, 2 mile paved path. Always people there
Nice walking trails. I was expecting more flowers and statues. Nicely landscaped!
Gorgeous place to get outside and see all kinds of people doing their thing. It's also got useful information (like that my black walnut tree likely has Emerald Ash Borers). I wonder if their arborists make house calls?
Beautiful trails, stopped here to walk our dogs. Everyone there was very friendly, it was very clean here. They provided doggy bags and trash cans. Plenty of benches along the way. Great place to stop
Lovely walk. Paved for easy running or walking. Go when flowers are blooming for a visual, fragrant, walk. Pets allowed. Bathrooms near parking lot.
It doesn’t get any better than the Arboretum - open to the public and without cost. It has beautiful trails off of the main 2-mile paved track wide enough for walkers, runners, strollers, and more to enjoy it while feeling safe during the pandemic. In the spring, summer, and fall, it plays host to flora and fauna from all over the beautiful Commonwealth. For kids, the staff have seem and finds and other educational material (such as the Story Walk) that makes for a lovely afternoon if you add in a picnic (tables and trash cans provided) and a round of frisbee or football in the expansive grass fields. Locals and guests love this park and you will too!
Magical and wonderful experience. I come here all the time for relaxation and seeing the flower bloom.
Always has pretty flowers for girls to look at. Park is well maintained by staff and volunteers
Peaceful, serene, a great place for pictures, picnic is just a walk with family
Beautiful weather. Awesome environment. Wonderful place for children to be playful, explore and just be a kid in a safe environment.
I have been coming to the Arboretum for over 20 years and it has only gotten better and better. The park has so many things to offer: an extensive rose collection, gardening exhibit, medicinal herbs garden, butterfly and pollinator sanctuary, a fish pond - truly an incredible collection of showcasing nature. Additionally the paved walking loops are fantastic for anyone - great for those who use a wheelchair, for runners, for kids, dog walking, etc. I love to come here to just go for a walk and be surrounded by greenery. Throughout the year they also offer various programming for kids and adults - from Shakespeare in the park to art galleries to gardening workshops. This will always be one of my favorites places.
Close to home, nature reprieve in the city. Our UK Arboretum never fails to be a restorative trip.
Beautiful garden and a great place for a walk.
Great walking path. Really enjoyed my walk here.
When I was in school, I spent a little of time here. It's beautiful and peaceful. They do a good job on the grounds. They have a great walking trail, amenities and a picnic spot.
An open space suitable for walking. Lots of people from different ages spend their time here walking, some walk their dogs. It has rose garden, vegetable garden, and many more. Certain parts are woods and certain parts are open areas. There is also children garden special for kids.
Great walk through several nice gardens.
This was such a great way to start our vaca with our young daughter. The ground were well cared for and the staff in the Children's Garden was so sweet to my insect and bug loving daughter. Great visit for all the nature loving kiddos.
The park is very relaxing and well cared for. The children's garden was closed, which we were greatly looking forward to using. Instead we walked on one of the many paths. The paths weren't very clearly marked, so we ended up missing the main garden because the kids were too tired by the time we found it on a map.
Beautiful plantings and buildings. Lots of pollinators grace the grounds and the buildings are great for symposiums and the like.
The Arboretum has nice walking paths lined with a variety of native trees flowers and greenery. The paths are laid out in such a way you can determine the length of your walk. Some people stroll for the relaxation some run. Theres lots of room for a picnic in the park as well.. Our family favorite is the Children's Garden we don't mind paying a couple dollars for this treat. It's a nice size with simple earthy adventures. Pack water shoes towels and a change of clothes for your littles because there's a small stream they will beg to jump in! Once they're in there's no stopping them from getting drenched from head to toe! The Garden Walk Way has occasional tree coverings to keep you from baking in the sun too much but you will still get plenty of Vitamin D.
Just wish it was bigger . Could spend all day here if the weather was right.
The best to walk and run. As big as Jaobson park..No disc golf but a beautiful past ...Also a good place for runners ...I am keeping the fifth star for the flowers this summer !
Very peaceful. 1 love going there for evening walk.
Nice place to take a walk and see some plants/flowers.
Always something different in bloom each time you visit.Never disappoints.
Beautiful garden. Very nice walking trails. Lots of photo opportunities. Children's Garden requires entrance fee. Also PokéStops for Pokémon Go.
Safe, clean, well marked trails.
Beautiful area right on the UK campus!
A lovely free place to walk with (most of the time) available parking to enjoy being outside. There are paved walking loops, each maybe around a mile, with slight elevation. No bikes, but you'll always find runners, strollers, walkers, and dogs. There is also a children's garden for a fee, with events. The memorial sculpture is pretty and the gardens in the middle are educational and beautiful, particularly in some seasons.
Great place to walk, run and hangout with friends. I LOVE getting away to spend time with God here
This is a great place to go be in a tiny spot of nature and just relax for a minute. Whether you want to take a walk or just chill, this is a decent place to do it with beautiful scenery.
Great place for walks with friends, dogs, or just by yourself. Nice scenery for a pretty day, with great labels for beginning botanists. This arboretum also has a couple beautiful art pieces on permanent display, one serving as a memoriam for those lost in a tragic lexington airport plane crash. The grounds are well kept and there is at least a mile or two of paved pathways throughout the park. Fantastic place for a sunny day!
Minus the folks walking close to you without masks, it's a very relaxing place to visit if you're trying to get out during the pandemic.
I really enjoyed my visit to the Arboretum. I'm so thankful that so many species of plants and trees are available to view and to study. I especially enjoyed the buckeye trees and the other nut trees that are popping out. Looks like the Arboretum needs a little more support money wise. The grass was pretty long in many areas, I know it's expensive to care for it. Many identification tags, that are so important. seem to be missing. I drove 25 minutes to get to the Arboretum to look at a specimen of an Eastern Cottonwood tree. That species seems to be a little scarce in this area of Kentucky. I'm a botanical collector and I needed leaf samples from that species. I at 1st wanted to see a speciman and note the condition of the tree. I made use of the Walk Through Kentucky website and the Arboretum's map and location guide for the tree. I found it. But much to my dismay the tree was not alive but still standing in place. No leaves. I searched but as far as I could tell there were no other trees of that species. I hoped for someone at the main office to be available for me to question regarding that tree. But the arboretum hasn't had that kind of staff for a while. More need for funding I suspect. I hope some corporate sponsors from the Lexington area see this comment then send some generous donations. Or maybe the college could move some funds toward the Arboretum. But thanks to everyone who is working on behalf of the Arboretum for what is available.
Beautiful plants and flowers. Really relaxing place to visit with family and loved ones. So many bees thriving and buzzing around!!!!!! 🐝❤ …
We enjoyed the variety of plants ; shrubs and flowers. We have been to.garden's all over the U.S. and these were some of t h e best.
Absolutely beautiful! Absolutely loved it. It was a lot to see.
Such a lovely place to walk around and enjoy an afternoon.
Beautiful park!!!! Grateful to have this beautiful place for the community! ❤️❤️❤️
there are beautiful trails, in summer is an invitation for great walks, in winter a great place to exercise.
The Arboretum is absolutely gorgeous! I was there in April and it was perfect weather. We enjoyed a nice walk along the paths, were able to park easily in the paved parking lot, and found the visitors center to be very helpful and informative. They provided a map and brochure so we could plan our walk. There were lots of places to sit in the shade and the sun. It was well maintained and very clean. Lots of flowers starting to bloom too!
Lovely place to walk. Great children's area with educational displays as well as as a running replica of Thomas the Train and his friends.
The UK Arboretum is a very good place for people of all ages to visit. The flowers are beautiful year round, there is a very nice children's garden only open during daytime hours, the restrooms outside are clean most of the time (some people are rough on them, especially on weekends). There are long paved running paths and offshoots that are mulched. There are not supposed to be bicycles on the paved paths. The paved paths are easy for strollers or wheel chairs, but the prettiest flowers are on a path with small gravel, so not as wheelchair friendly for those not strong enough to push easily.
It has been years since we visited and were delighted to see all the gardens and walking paths that have been added. There are sculptures, interesting plants with identification tags and the Flight 5191 Memorial sculpture and garden. Lots of people walking, jogging and pushing strollers. Dogs were all on leashes. Plenty of parking.
I always love coming here. My kids love climbing on the logs and running through the gardens. It's always beautiful, well kept, and big enough to never feel crowded. The bathrooms were also very clean which I was not expecting. They've added some tables out near the logs which is nice for parents.
In town for several weeks for work travel and this is one of my favorite places to be. Beautiful trails, perfect spots for picnics. Lots of shaded parking available.
I like the Arboretum because it has nice walking trails and a variety of beautiful plants. There are benches set at intervals along the paths where you can stop to rest or chat while enjoying the scenery and the day. It is a very peaceful place to visit while possibly also observing squirrels, birds, and butterflies as you enjoy seeing the overall beauty of the park and its' well kept grassy fields. This is a great place to visit in Lexington!
I love botanical gardens. For the size this one packs a lot. It is well laid out. I find it better suited for families than most. Kids can play around in some areas safely and not get bored just looking at flowers. Pleasant place for walks if like me ypu want something besides a treadmill. It is NOT all paved walks like some. This makes it very nice on my feet. Photography opportunities here. Highly recommend.
This is such a pretty place to walk! The paths are paved except for a few optional areas. There are lots of trees and plants that are so beautiful. This place is dog friendly! There are a couple doggie bag stations throughout the park.
beautiful handout place from the busy roads. they have a good pathway which extends amidst the tall trees giving us the experience of walking in the . middle of forests./ parking is free here. so can cone whenever we need and be here as long as we like. its refreshing
Always a great time at The Arboretum. Pet friendly (on leash) and open areas for retrieving play. Asphalt walking path 2.0 miles as well as trails through the natural areas. We go 4 times per month and always seem to discover something new. Walking/reading walk with signage and children's area for younger visitors. A Lexington/UK gem.
Beautiful public gardens and a great place to walk. The flowers are mostly at the front of the park and don't comprise a large part of the grounds. The rest is dedicated to the natural Flora of the area, and there are also small spaces devoted to Flora from different parts of the state. There is one concrete walking path around the park that is probably a little over a mile's walk. My favorite part is a woodsy area off to one side, where there are a few dirt trails you can walk when it's not muddy or icy.
The aboretum is not filled with showy or exotic plants, but rather a place to enjoy nice weather, local Flora and an easy walk or picnic.
Paved and off road trails are a great way to get miles in in all weather and seasons. The children's garden is wonderful too. Hopefully it can be open this year.
Love to walk here. The paths and trails are well marked and easy to traverse. Benches along the way so you can rest and relax. Great for dog walks and jogging too. One of the few paved paths that doesn't permit bicycles, just pedestrians.
This place is amazing. Better toward the spring and fall but great place to walk. It's also a great place to take photos. You could take anything from wedding to graduation to family photos here. There is also a children's garden. I'm not sure on their exact hours but it's beautiful and fun as well. Love this place!
The arboretum was absolutely beautiful when I went over this past summer. It was full of life in much more than just the plants there. People brought their kids, animals, there was even a little tiny birthday celebration held at a picnic table for these adorable little twin girls. All in all this place was very wholesome and it would be a wonderful place to take the whole family, and I would recommend you do so, without a doubt beats staying inside.
Was a nice, after supper walking trip. Lots to see if you like nature!
The Arboretum itself is beautiful and we love the book walk, however, we drive an hour and a half to go to the children's garden, and it is totally worth it. We have 3 kids ages 3, 8, and 13 and they could spend the entire day there playing.
My wife and I enjoyed the experience. So many wonderful things to see. While we only spent a couple of hours, a family could make it into an all day event. If you love nature the many varied plants and flowers make for an experience you should not miss!
It's a park. It's a nature museum. A wonderful place to take a calming walk. If you are into nature photography, bring your camera - especially in Spring or Fall. It's big, so wear comfortable shoes and bring a stroller for small children.
I'm always a fan of arboretums, especially in the middle of a city. It's so nice seeing the buildings around yet having a quiet, peaceful environment to walk or sit and enjoy nature. That said, I can't say I really recommend going to the arboretum in the winter as a friend and I did. Nothing is in bloom (obviously), and it's of course somewhat chilly to be walking, but I'll be back in spring or summer and I'm sure I'll enjoy it even more then.
With a rarity towards nature and with all the Corona virus bullsh*t (forgive my french), this place is a place a relief, a place of meditation, a place to renew ones bonds with nature.
I'd recommend this place all day everyday.
Beautiful is an understatement. Natural, nature, flowers, greenery, walking trail, gardens... Just imagine the rest.
Flowers are blooming too as of 15may21.
I love this place

We recently explored the Arboretum. Overall the trails and paths are in great shape and provide a meandering experience. There were a few occasional joggers. I am not sure if bikes are allowed on all the paths. There were bike racks at the central area. There were whimsical educational signs for children along the paths. Educational signs explained the water and plant management efforts as well as geological info. There is a separate children's area but it was closed for renovations the day we were there. The visitor center has public restrooms. We did not tour the center though. Dogs are allowed on leash. There were several water fountains centrally located and there were large metal water bowls for the dogs. There is supposed to be an app to show the trails but it wasn't working. There were not any paper trail maps available. There are plenty of benches throughout, most of them were in shady areas.
As far as vegetation/plant life it is seasonal of course and is cared for mostly by volunteers. We've been there in the past when it was fantastic. This day was mostly to provide our dog with a new adventure, so we were not focused on plant life. All in all the Arboretum is a great place to take an hour or two stroll. If the timing is right the plant life would be fantastic too.
The Arboretum is a beautiful park that has a lot of shaded areas and places to sit. The statues are pleasant to look at, and scattered throughout the garden. There are also wide open fields and a bike trail for those who want exercise.
My only gripe is there there aren't many colorful flowers for a botanical garden. Of course, this one is named after trees, so maybe that's to be expected.
Long walking trails, beautiful gardens!!
Beautifully manicured grounds a great place for the whole family
Beautiful park with ample running paths, places for kids to play, and a gorgeous walking area filled with flowers. They've recently begun to embrace natural walking paths (finally!) for those who don't always want to hit the pavement. It looks like they're redeveloping the stream zone that runs across Alumni; kudos to the university for being mindful of resource revitalization!
Great relaxing place to visit. When the weather is wam, I come here often with my son. We like to walk along the trails and occasionally toss a soccer ball or frisbee. Great place to run as well. I find the natural beauty of the Arboretum to be relaxing. Highly recommended especially on warm/mild days.
The variety of plants and flowers here is amazing! You can see so many different things in one place. The Story Walk was a hit with our 3 and 5 year old...Educational and kept their attention. They also loved climbing on the logs by the entrance. As a family of 5, this place was a win for everyone!
Fantastic area to walk, run, or hike. Unfortunately biking isn't allowed, but you can bring your dog. Try going in the morning when it's cooler. Many trails are paved and have little shade.
Well it is winter time. I'm sure it's much more beautiful in the summer time or in the spring. But I did enjoy getting out and nature and walking at first I thought it was boring. But then I became more interested in the different paths in the different trials. I will be going back.
The arboretum is a lovely sprawling open space. They've laid it out so that there are plenty of small forest paths, running tracks, picnic spots, benches and carefully manicured gardens and veggie patches. It's beautiful in the spring time and very easy to reach by road or otherwise.
A big beautiful outdoor gallery of gardens. Its one of my favorite places to go with my son. We can keep going till he's wore out. I checking things that grab his imagination and mine.

(>💐 Very peaceful and beutiful gardens very well kept I have not fully explored it yet but I may return one day all in all a great place to take pictures or just get some cardio maybe even read a nice book in the gardens.
A great place to walk around and enjoy the outdoors that's close to campus and downtown. I personally love the walking paths and frequently go on walks with my wife. It can get kinda crowded at times, but it's a big enough place that it's not usually a big deal. I have not yet checked out the children's garden (costs money to enter) or the visitor's center. There are also a lot of signs around the paths that have information about local wildlife, geography, etc. for those that like to learn. Great place for kids and for walking a dog.
The Children's Garden was a great park to take a toddler to nine year old. My two year old granddaughter had a blast digging in the sand for fossils, splashing in the creek, story and craft time, pretending to fish, watching the trains, and pumping water for the garden. Bring a book and let your children spend a whole afternoon here... don't rush the fun!
Great place for a workout or taking pictures!
I went just as things were starting to warm up for a date. The trails are all vrry lovely even though some things hadn't been set up yet like fountains. The university has done a wonderful job creating a place were people of all ages can enjoy the outdoors in a safe environment
A place to stretch your legs on a sunny winter day, with mostly paved paths. Wish I could see it in spring.
We just love this place. Well kept up, many beautiful flowers and trees. A big dog pooped on the paved trail and wasn't picked up. Could've been a neighbors. We always see the dogs on leashes. I also loved watching the squirrels and birds while sitting on one of their many benches for those like me who need a rest now and then.
Beautiful tulips in bloom, along with dogwoods, and many other flowering shrubs. Enjoyed our walk along the path. The only thing that kept this from being a 5-star rating is the fact that there were several places on the path blocked by standing water. Shouldn't be a problem if you go on a sunny day.
Beautiful and educational. If you are a pokemon Go player, head out there for some great finds and lots of poke stops. The garden is so beautiful and well maintained. Highly recommend for leisure visit with the family.
Kids garden was a fun morning! Super-cute area with lots of fun learning for the littles.
Only wish the wooded trails weren't right alongside the road & housing, but it's great that this is set aside as green space in the midst of the hustle and bustle!
There is much to praise in the Arboretum experience. Paths are well maintained, many trees and plants are identified, special gardens are beautifully planned, and the forested area is just large enough to allow an adventurous spirit in wanderers without actually getting lost. However, my one criticism of the Arboretum is a big one: The Children's Garden is accessible only to kids and families who can pay an admission fee or buy a membership; everything about this policy is wrong. Can the administrators not find a more equitable method of collecting revenue than barring certain people from certain areas?
Beautiful place for walking.
Very fun place to go for a walk or run. What made it better for me was that they have a kids section. Which is the only part of the park you have to pay for, but it's worth it. There are a lot of things they can play with and my son really enjoyed it.
I LOVE this place!! Absolutely beautiful walks & my son loves it as well. It started raining last time I was there & there's trails in the trees that provide perfect coverage 🤣 loved it! …
This is a great place to let kids explore, run, just be kids. They have a kids gardening area that isn't too expensive, SO MANY like stops, lots of open areas, dog friendly and no breed restrictions. Great for bicyclist and joggers alike. They also do weddings. Multiple friends have gotten engaged here.
One of the most lovely places to visit in the Lexington area! Learning about plants, animals, and the regions of our area is so much fun here! There is something to look at around every corner, and every path you take is sure to make your trip delightful. They also have a children's garden, which is truly magical. Definitely a go to for a fun family outing, a walk with a couple of friends, or even alone. Plus, it's FREE! Visiting is a must!
What a sweet little arboretum to walk around with family and dogs. Nice facilities and kiddo enjoyed the book walk.
A treasure in the middle of the city of Lexington. Oh how it has continued to be expanded into a top notch botanical garden over the years.
Great place for a walk and to enjoy nature!
Super awesome place. I recommend it to everyone. Nice place to enjoy a stroll and look at the flowers or take your dog and go for a run. The gardens are amazing and they put forth so much effort to make the place feel welcoming.
Great place to walk. Easy parking, clean bathrooms, beautiful plants and information on the species of plants.
Very beautiful. Wow, I've been driving past the Arboretum for many years thinking it was something really small and not well kept. Visited last week and it's huge and so well done. Congratulations to the caretakers.
The one caveat which was not a big one, is that the restrooms close fairly early I think it was 4:30. Just be aware.
Beautiful place and easy paths and trails to follow. Extremely clean and organized and so nice that wedding and group meeting can be hosted there.
I love walking through the Arboretum! It's so peaceful, and the scenery is so beautiful with flowers and trees throughout. Whether you're coming here by yourself, bringing your family, taking a romantic stroll, or hanging out with friends this place will not disappoint.
A very nice part of Lexington, nice and big for wandering. My favorite are the gardens. We have a nice long blooming season here and the gardeners have taken care to plant with that in mind. The whole park is very artistic as well. Very active.
A beautiful venue. Lovely gardens, varied walking paths, a wide range of bird habitats, etc.
Spent a weekend out with the spouse. Decided to stroll through the arboretum to digest. Had not been in the three years I've lived here and my husband from the area never had. First off the trail is lovely from a stroll, run, bike etc. Nice paved area and everything. So if you live locally perfect. For us we adventure in the woods constantly and were looking for a more enlightening experience. As in local trees with placards etc. Granted there are some. Ultimately I expected more. There was s lot of hype with the place from locals. I've been to arboretums before and thought this would be a cool way to really get more in depth. Maybe we missed something after taking the entire path and a lot off the paved trail. In a way I was slightly disappointed. We were also taken back whilst being understanding when we first got there went to the visitors center to read up on the area etc. Found out it was closed due to a volunteer meeting. Don't take me wrong I love volunteers. We both volunteer for many things. The moment was on of really the one time we come here and it's closed so y'all can hsve cake? Even after explaining we just wanted to check out some pamphlets and literature real quick and we never come and are not in town often the girl at the desk still wouldn't let us by. So we were polite and went exploring. Something on the website would have been nice at least. If not for us for the folks who drive far and wide and may have come especially for the arboretum etc. So there you have it. I give it 4 stars on the lack of what I know arboretums to be and for the visitor center closer. I don't believe in bad reviews. I do believe in honest takes and impressions. I definitely would recommend stopping by and finding out for yourself if it's your thing or not.
Great place for a walk or run. Lovely gardens and flowers and nice in the springtime especially. The trees are a nice museum of different arboreal regions of the state too, but this goes unnoticed by most visitors.
A wonderful park to walk around and just burn some energy in the outdoors. The memorial is a beautiful tribute to lost love ones. Big open spaces. Great for a day outside.
Such a great place to have a little picnic or take a nice walk or run. With 100 acres there is a lot of space here, especially in the middle of the city!!
We had a wonderful walk at the Arboretum and enjoyed a relaxing break near the welcome center. This is a great place to visit often.
I love, love, love the arboretum. It is always clean and feels safe to walk around. It gets busy in the evenings after work with lots of people out walking with their kids and people jogging and everyone just in general enjoying this wonderful and amazing green space in the middle of Lexington.
This is one of my favorite outdoor spots to run, walk, or jog in Lexington. If you do the entire trail, I believe it is right around 2 miles. There is a lovely garden, plenty of local and regional plant life, and a children's garden, among other things.
Beautiful place to walk and enjoy nature. Very safe and relaxing environment. Highly recommend! Whether bringing your dog to walk, going for a jog, or just walking with a friend, this is a neat experience!
This is a gem in the Bluegrass. Really a nice place for a stroll or a run, very safe, and a great be place to take photos any time of year. Very impressive collection of native trees and a series of gardens that gets better each year. One of my favorite places to relax in Lexington.
Nice place (in town) to hike on a snowy morning, when county roads might be treacherous.
Beautiful and so tranquil. Great pkace to jog ir walk.
While visiting friends in Lexington I enjoyed greatly the Botanical Gardens at the University of Kentucky. Spending a day there I went and took my friends back the next day. And have even visited a third time within a few months. Beautiful grounds with educational kiosks throughout the garden. A lovely place to spend the day. And it's free!
This was a great and simple place for the kids to enjoy a little run-around time. The children’s garden looks like a lot of fun but it is closed right now for some reason.
Very nice tail to walk around.
Absolutely lovely. I may be biased .. I was there to witness my son proposing to his now fiancé. She said Yes! We walked the gardens and had family portraits made. They were beautiful.
The Arboretum includes a good urban trail system highlighting the variety of plants and trees that grow throughout the state. The topography and vegetation of various regions of Kentucky are featured on signs next to portions of the trail. The gently rolling paved trail accommodates people of all fitness levels and ages. The Arboretum features a children's garden that frequently offers activities usually at a minimal cost. It is a great place to spend time learning more about the state and staying active at the same time.
This is one of my favorite locations in Lexington. In the spring it is bursting with plant life. Flowers blooming and greenery everywhere. My kids love the Children's garden (which you do have to pay to get into) and the Storywalk (free as you walk through the arboretum grounds. I also use the paved walking trail for exercise. My mother loves to visit the gardens every time she comes to Lexington. Such a peaceful retreat from busy life.
The arboretum is a in a very beautiful and peaceful location, inside the University campus. The space itself is very well kept, creatively planted, with interesting sculptures and gazebos that create unique "corners" within it. Every now and then there are seats and picnic tables, where you can rest and take in the beauty around you. It features free gardening classes, volunteer opportunities and many different thematic gardens-the herb garden, the edible garden, the bee garden etc. There is also an area especially designed for children, with small animals and events that keep them happy. With so many flowers in bloom and the beautiful landscaping, I felt as if I were in Paradise! Also, the staff who worked on the gardens, mainly young men and women, were very polite and extra nice and helpful. They seemed enthusiastic and passionate about what they were doing and the resulting beautiful arboretum is proof of that!
I never fail to get a peaceful walk in here. Beautiful scenery even when the flowers have yet to bloom. Also, I see people come from all over so it's nice to know people respect nature this day and time.
This was a really nice and quiet place to take a walk. It would have been nice if it were easier to get to on foot, but once there the paths were pretty and tranquil even with lots of people out and about playing Pokemon Go in its first week
Very pretty park to stroll through. Lots of interesting art installations to admire, and enough trail to run or bike through. Definitely an enjoyable place to spend some time.
Well kept and a great place to get some family pictures or just take a stroll. It's dog friendly with plenty of walking trails and seating and a couple bathrooms. It can get pretty busy here though at times
Really enjoyed the path around the grounds to run or walk. Distance is about 2 miles with very gradual hills.
Awesome, inexpensive place for the kiddos, and adults. We go a few times a year. They were so kind today and gave us seedlings for lettuce and kale. Highly recommended for a fun, cheap, outdoor activity.
Terrific place to run or walk. My kids enjoy naming the different trees and plants. Parking is always available, and this is a nice way to find nature in the middle of the city.
It's a very pretty place to take a walk enjoy the out doors. It full of every kind of tree that is native of Kentucky in the Arboretum. Full of beautiful flowers and a little pond in the Center of the Arboretum.
Such a beautiful place to visit
My husband and I stopped to get a little rest from traveling and we are so glad we did . The grounds are just immaculate . I can only imagine that if it had spring or summer that this place would have been absolutely stunning . It was a cold cold March day when we stopped so most all flowers and plants seemed dead but what was alive it was with beauty . We walked around and enjoyed it all . I would love to go back in the summer . Well done on this beautiful place . Marty and Cindy Conner from Florida .
The UK Arboretum is a beautiful and expansive park with a diverse range of species of flower and trees, along with great walking/running trails. It's good for all ages, with a children's park, and safe, well maintained paths through the forest.
It was beautiful and lots of different trails to walk on even some gravel trails to walk on as well i recommend everyone go here to walk or run because it's different each time you go
Its Very Nice and Peaceful.
Love It
Beautiful, very well maintained and endless gardens. We enjoyed our afternoon and will return the next time we're in Lexington, for sure. You can not possibly see everything in one day!
A tree lovers Paradise, mostly any exotic North American plant species and more, rare, uncommon, the amount of species in the excellent Park and Gardens that they have at this facility is truly amazing. A must-see spot.
This place is gorgeous. One to see!
It is so nice with all the small trails along with the main concrete trail. And such a broad variety of flowers, herbs, and trees. It was very clean when we were there too.
Check out the Arboretum if you haven't already! It's perfect for running, walking, whatever you want to do. Except biking - that unfortunately isn't permitted anymore. During summer, the gardens are full of color; during fall, the scarecrows and pumpkins come out. It's a cozy part of Lexington, and I would definitely recommend coming out.
...not to mention, it's a pokemon nest. :^)
Beautiful property! From rolling hills to architecturally designed gardens, this is one of the best places in town to take a stroll.
My wife and I enjoyed this place.
Wonderfully maintained space. The Children's Garden is amazing. Explore the bike trails and see the Burl Oak. Also explore their low to no-cost workshops and teaching sessions.
Great place for the family. Very kid friendly. $3 per person to access the children's garden or $10 per family. Definitely worth it. Make sure to bring a change of clothes for the kids. They'll want to get wet.
Childrens garden Is great for little ones. Elevated train tracks w/ 6 Thomas and friends trains, flowing stream, pond w/ fishing vessel, sand area, log house, water wheel, gardens and much more. Main park has paved running path, numerous flower gardens, herb garden, demonstration vege gardens, sculptures, fountains and much more.
Such a wonderful place, we had a great time and will definitely take more walks here. Very relaxing, we might even take our dog for the trails!
Really nice place, it's like a massive garden
This place has everything plant wise. At first I thought it was just a huge flower garden. It has many flowers but it has everything you could hope to see at a botanical garden. Very beautiful place.
Lovely place near campus. The wooded section is small, but nice to walk through. If the weather is nice, you can expect a lot of people to be out running or walking.
Great walking paths through varied trees and flowers. Was very busy when we were there but still plenty of space.
Great place to walk around! Lots of different trails that are kept clean and are fun to walk through. Definitely a place worth spending an hour or two.
Beautiful, peaceful place to take a long walk, enjoy some scenery and maybe get a little exercise. Oh and it’s free. Not sure what more you want.
Take a walk enjoy nature in the middle of town learn somethings about trees and plants. Chill in a hammock. If you Pokemon go plenty to do. Great place.
Beautiful grounds, well maintained.
A free place to go walking, running or take your dog. They have an amazing kids garden with a lot of stuff to do for kids, but that cost money and is only open certain days , the only downfall.
It's amazing here. Great walking trails. So much diversity of plant life. And you can bring your dog.
The arboretum is beautiful and a great place to be outdoors/walk around near UK. It is well kept and offers lots of things to loom at. Even though I am a winter person myself, this is a beautiful place with snow and ice.
What a great place! Tons of paths through trees and gorgeous gardens. A very peaceful place to relax and walk for a while.
I have always loved going to the arboretum on weekend mornings. It's a great place to walk your dog or just to see the beautiful trees and plants.
Absolutely beautiful. Great place for educational family trips, vigorous runs, or slow casual strolls. Went here on a date and it was chill, inspiring, beautiful, and relaxing.
Beautiful place to walk, particularly in the colder months when there are les people walking.
A gem throughout the year Nice walk at to exercise.A visitor center and several workshops! Fly kites or take a pinic or bring a blanket to enjoy the serenity of the park.
Pretty place to walk or jog, especially in autumn. Trees are awesome to see and it feels nice outside. Happy Halloween!
Great walking/jogging trails, pet friendly, lots of trees, blooming and open area. (Surrounding area full of one-and-done early bloomers and smells of desperation...mostly near Rupp Arena)
Beautiful! So much to see. Numerous benches all over. Dogs on leash allowed. Easy parking.
Visited for pokemon go, really enjoyed the scenery! Perfect for a nice brisk walk, walking with friends, and enjoying nature as well as artwork. Will return.
Today was my first time here and it was very nice. Aside from the sounds of Lexington traffic, it was peaceful. As a bonus there was a kitty on the trail I got to pet.
Quiet beautiful place to enjoy nature near the heart of Lexington KY
Good walking trails, enough people to not feel secluded, but not so many as to feel crowded. Nice plant and tree selection that gets better every year. The Arboretum also has several Pokestops for Pokemon Go players. I got enough Eevees to evolve Jolteon there.
Okay walking trails. I'm not sure if we went right before routine maintenance or what but it was pretty grown up and weed-ridden. I'm sure it's much nicer once it's been maintenance.
Great place to get outside, walk, let kids run, just a well kept park.
Great park with paved walking paths. Beautiful landscaping year round.
Beautiful flowers for any person who enjoys botany.. Names are clearly posted of each tree and flower in the park.. Plenty of benches to sit and admire the gorgeous surroundings.. Excellent place for photography, fitness, and dog walking..
gorgeous. had a lot of fun places for my niece to play too.
The improvements Marcia oversought while director continue to flourish in this already well planned outdoor area for the enjoyment of everyone. The walk across Kentucky- where trees native to regions across the state are planted in respective areas- make habitat for birds, owls, even red foxes. The central home demonstration garden displays many perennials, shrubs, and trees, some even state champions.
Great little park with an excellent running trail.
PROS: the walkways are nice and the distance within LEX is short.
CONS: it's always crowded, people with dogs can be hypersensitive about their pets, and the distance withing LEX is short.
The only park in town with extensive trails for walking or running (no cycling). Good place for kids to run around and climb old tree trunks.
As a nature lover and photographer, the Arboretum is one of my favorite places to go. It is also home to the memorial for Comair 3191
Nicely done aboretum. The planted area is smaller than we expected but the overall park area is large. Nice place for a walk to break up a toadtrip
Ahidden gem in the city. Peaceful and clean if you jeep to relax I recommend a stroke through here.
The trees and flowers are absolutely gorgeous in the springtime. The colors are just amazing. Worth the walk through.
Such a gorgeous place for a walk! They've done such a beautiful job with the gardens.
LOVE 💕 IT!!! Such a peaceful and beautiful 😍 place to walk and exercise, read a book, take pictures Or have a small picnic!!! Very, Very RELAXING People!!!😁🙌💖🙌👍😊 …
A great place to wind down
My first time to visit, looking forward to spring and summer visit. Pretty even in the rain.
Been visiting this place for 20 years now. Amazing
One of few great places to enjoy open green space near downtown Lexington. It also feels very safe in terms of Covid-19.
We just happened to be driving through town and were very surprised. Absolutely worth the stop! We took the kids and got to meet some master gardeners who taught our kids about several plants.
One of the best nature walks in the area. Walk through the woods and see some of the 100 year old plus trees. Great meditative opportunity.
Tons of things to see here. Clearly marked walking trail with interesting trees, flowers, and sometimes wildlife. Great place to go on a walk or run.
The Arboretum is one of our top five play places. We love the Children's Garden, and have lots of picnics after we play on the logs.
Absolutely beautiful amazing amount of different varieties of botanical species. Nicely arranged. Definitely a must see in Lexington
On UK campus. Fun to walk through on the way to the stadium. Signs and activities, lots of childrens activities all throughout. Not overly crowded and bathrooms nearby also.
It's located in the bustling center of town, but when you're there you feel like you're miles from the city. Take a walk and discover the numerous gardens tucked away. Even catch a Pokemon or two.
Beautiful area. Will have to remember to plan a visit in May or early June. Really enjoyed.
Less crowded early morning and close to twilight. Great place to watch a sunset in town.
Nothing was blooming when I went but the trail was still a beautiful walk. I will definitely try again in springtime.
Children's garden
It had been a while since I have last visited the Arboretum. And I love everything they've done with it. Good place to go take a walk. Will be back soon.
Beautiful gardens. Nice memorial.
Really nice place to go for a long relaxed walk a jog, riding a bike or a hoverboard. The flowers are very well maintained and the place offers many photo opportunities. There is even a vegetable garden. Parking lot should be larger, to accommodate more visitors.
Beautiful place. Wish we were not planning our Hand Fasting ceremony in Feb. The gazebo would be a beautiful location.
Fantastic park for UK students!
Although small and honestly somewhat barren relative to the images one might conjure for such a place, it remains an oasis in central Lexington allowing one to walk paved trails and relax while enjoying an eclectic collection of plants.
Beautiful. Lots of really good and simple walking paths. Dog friendly.

The perfect spot to meet a friend or loved one for a walk. I enjoy being so close to campus.
Great place for children especially active outdoor children. The river bed proved extremely popular. Worth every penny of the entrance fee.
This is one of Lexington's better known, unique attractions due to it's connection to the University of Kentucky, having easy to follow signs to both it, and Kroger Field which is across the street, it's great location off alumni, allowing it to be in town yet beautiful and open and an easy location to get I'm and out of, and lastly it's most important feature: It's beauty.
Today, I went there for a volunteer's orientation, specifically for the children's garden. Ive been living in Lexington for a long time but this was th first time visiting the children's garden. It's a hidden gem with all kinds of activities for little children. I am looking forward to volunteering there.

This was a beautiful place for us to visit! Beautiful flowers and landscaping! Thank you?
The arboretum has always suffered from a deficiency of forest cover. The wind is excessive because of all the green grass fields. UK should aggressively add forest and prairie to the arboretum. The creeper is also keeping the woodlands area quite sick and killing off older generations of trees. The management of the forest is simply not as good as Floracliff or Holden or Bernheim.
I am a grad of UK but it is time to be honest about our arboretum. Needs more arboring.
Beauty and tranquility in the heart of Lexington. A much needed walk! I loved the pagolas and fountains in the garden!

A perfect oasis and a jewel in the crown of Lexington. The atmosphere created for children is exceptional, and provides a walking track for adults to unwind and connect with the trees of Kentucky.
The wide, paved trails are great, the informational brochures have great detail and maps, and there are lots of Pokéstops.
Not a lot was in bloom yet, so 8f your looking to see more butterflies, I'd give it a few more weeks. It was my first time, I look forward to going back
