Reviews of Los Angeles County Arboretum

I LOVE this arboretum! What a wonderful experience. And the little cafe is a great place to get a snack and a cup of coffee and watch the peacocks in the trees. Lots of great gardens to walk through and take in all the sights and smells. Parking was easy. The coffee and lemon cake were delicious. If I lived closer I would consider getting a membership. I highly recommend this fantastic place.

I have always liked the Arcadia Arboretum and especially the peacocks. Our son recently gave us a membership so that we can go year round. The grounds are great although it is a little early for the rose garden. Everything is in a great variety. The normal entry $15 charge is very reasonable and the memberships quickly pay for themselves.

Very pretty and expansive grounds but the new mandatory website ticketing portal that went live in Sept 2022 needs work. Our payment was processed 5x this morning, with no website ticket generated or email sent. Rather than offering a refund for the hundreds of dollars of duplicate admissions the entry volunteers just offered a "your additional tickets are good for one year" so use them later 😉 (...except we have had no tickets emailed to us). If you run into the same issue don't refresh your payment page if it shows nothing and double check with your CC issuer and the staff at the entrance first.

The entrance fee is $15 and is valid for one day. You pay online and show the QR code on your phone.
There are so many interesting plants. Even if you don’t know anything about plants, it’s impossible not to find any of the plants interesting.
The arboretum is very big. It may take an entire day to visit everywhere in the park. Be sure to dress in comfortable clothes and shoes. Also bring sunscreen hat and lots of water, it can get very hot. There’s not always a lot of shade.
Peacocks roam around the place. They are very loud. Keep a good distance from them.
There’s also a place where you can buy your own plants.

The Los Angeles Arboretum is a gorgeous place to photograph. We were so inspired by all the gardens. Every new turn provided a new and unique backdrop. Getting a photo pass was simple. We signed up to be members because we were so inspired. We love going in the morning but we could photograph here and get great images at any time of the day. We barely scratched the surface of how much room there is to play at the Arboretum and we can't wait to go back and photograph here again.

Such an amazing place for a walk with family or the loved one.
Every inches of the garden is a beauty.
It took us almost an hour to drive from home but it was nothing after we entered the garden.
Loves the Peacocks "the guardian of the doors", LOL.
Tips:
- wear comfortable shoes
- buy tickets online!!

Parking: tons of free parking with wheelchair access
The park is kid friendly. Filled with trees, flowers, bamboo, birds, fish here. There is a nice water fall, old cottage, several ponds, bamboo forest. To see everything takes about 2 hours more brisk walking. Some sections have more to see than other, the south side is more sparse. Peacocks/fowl are everywhere and are friendly but be careful they have huge talons. You need some good walking shoes, don't recommend sandals. Parts of the park especially with bamboo might be muddy. They have sections with butterflies, koi, turtles also.

Lightscape at the LA Arboretum is a must see! Fantastic light display,. A very family friendly Christmas activity for the whole family to enjoy. It was very organized from the parking and tram bus ride to the event itself. Plenty of friendly staff on hand. Guided, organized trail. Plenty of restrooms. Stations for snacks, drinks and S"more making. Plenty of photo ops. To top it off, a FABULOUS light display. It was our first time attending..we will definitely be back!

I always love visiting the Arboretum because of remind me the dinosaur chasing scene in the movie "Jurassic Park". All seasons' gardens including prehistorical trees and jungle gardens, and native oaks, herb and palm and bamboo collections. Please don't miss the original Santa Fe Railway Depot, opened on the Southern California Railway in 1890 and restored and moved there. It is worth the visiting if you stop by Santa Anita Racetrack and City of Arcadia.
Denisse Medina
Lovely, but not too many colorful gardens too see. I was expecting to see lots of different colored flowers.
There are lots of trees of all kinds, cactuses, maguey, etc.
Speaking of animals, we only saw ducks and peacocks.
$15 admission fee per adult (must be purchased online)
* we got to see a peacock pecking the front cars' tire, at the EXIT

Went during the light festival so beautiful. It has some trails that lead into the plants area. The view is so relaxing and the nature walk was very nice. They have a few little places to eat inside and to purchase food and drinks. I really would recommend this place if your thinking about going on a different type of nature walk.

Even when going in the winter, this place is great! There are a lot of rare plants and trees, peacocks, and places to sit down and marvel at the nature all around you. If you really love nature, and you are in the area, this is where you should go. There are also event venues hosted regularly, if you want to party, and countless historical places throughout the entire park. Visit it for yourself and have fun.

Awesome place for kids, a lot of different variances of plants and trees from all around the world. Very big place and is pretty ko how the park has different parts dedicated to certain parts of the world, it even has continent names to distinguish the fauna.
Kids always have a great time here, specially during the lightscape season. Theres loots of animals all around specially a lot of peacocks which adds a totally different feel for the to the place.
Looks like it's going through some renovations at the moment, can't wait to see what else is going to be added to the park.
Amber Frias
Attended Lightscape '22 for the first time and it was spectacular. Christmas music blaring, friendly staff, and over an hour's worth of lights to enjoy. Be sure to discreetly bring stuff to make smores, there's a dining area with fire pits!
Harry Zheng
Beautiful arboretum with pretty peacocks walking around. Not very crowded during the weekdays. Locals can join the membership and walk and exercise while enjoying the nice environment. Very close to Santa Anita shopping mall.

I strongly recommend purchasing your pass online so that you were able to scan the QR code when arriving to the gates at security to speed up the process of entering the park. When my family arrived around 1:45 p.m. on a Sunday there was still parking available.
I had a lovely trip at the LA Arboretum. It was my first time being here and it was a very special place to my family. In the early 1980s my grandfather used to work here and so this place hold a lot of love and energy within my family. And I could definitely feel that loving energy as I walked through the gardens.
I could feel the sun kiss my skin. It was a perfect warm sunny day in Southern California. I do suggest that if you go on a sunny day, bring extra water bottles into the park. The bathrooms outside will well kept and the water fountains were in convenient areas. There were so many Gardens to explore and I can definitely tell you can spend hours here I strongly recommend buying your pass online or even considering opting for the annual pass so you can enter Arboretum Botanical Gardens within California.
My family enjoyed themselves very much the botanical gardens has something for everyone. Whether that be the architectural design, the modern landscaping, the wild-but very much socialized animals that live here.
I look forward to coming back and walking around the other side of the park. This time I only discovered the Africa Gardens and part of Asia.

Not as cultivated or luscious as the other gardens in the area but still a lovely place to sit on a bench under a giant tree and forget about the world for awhile. Very peaceful and uplifting. Peacocks are a plenty. Be sure to bring a bottle of water because there’s hours and hours worth of paths for strolling and exploring.
Max Pietsch (Max)
This place is halfway between a botanical garden and a trail in the woods. It has several unique plants, but is a little more wild than a botanical garden and is actually a preserve as well. Some really unique plants like the tallest palm tree I’ve ever seen, some beautiful flowers, the thickest bamboo tree I’ve ever seen, etc. At the same time it has a long trail you can walk quickly along so it’s easy to get good exercise similar to how you would if you were in a trail in the woods.
We went at 2pm the Wednesday right before Thanksgiving and there were people but it wasn’t crowded.
Bex T
Beautiful and large garden. Great place for people of all ages, especially for families. I love all the gardens (Descanso, Huntington Library, Arboretum), they're all different and have their own characteristics. The annual lightscape at the arboretum is really beautiful and much better than the one in San Diego.
Nic
There's a bunch of negative reviews for Lightscape. But I disagree. My family and I loved it!! It was a nice night stroll through some beautiful light installations ....many of them with music. And the perfect outdoor activity to do with Omicron canceling all our NYE / Holiday plans. Our aunt loved it! She was so happy to get out of the house and enjoy some fresh air.
Some tips:
- Save your money, don't get the VIP tix. There was no line when we went. So no use for VIP tix. Just buy the VIP parking pass.
- If you park at The Depot, make sure you finish the entire course before you go back to your car...don't follow signs to the parking lot, The Depot. Or you will miss 20 minutes of installations and the beautiful finale!
- Bring your own Marshmallows! Lol. They charge for such a tiny package of one Marshmallow, one tiny chocolate and half a Graham cracker!!
- Don't be scared to ask the staff to take pix of you and your group at the framed photo areas. One staff member (wish I got his name) was super helpful and nice about it. Took multiple pix for us!
- Remember to bundle up and go on a clear night! We went on NYE and at around 8pm it was nearly empty!

This place is a gem. We were visiting the LA area and just happened to be staying close so decided to visit. Really beautiful, gardens are well kept, abundance of botanical species and you’ll probably see peacocks just strolling around!
Tess Sullivan
You can explore an entire world of beautiful flora and fauna in just one park. One of the best spaces to spend a day and wish you could spend the rest of your life.

Love ❤ the arbouretum. Membership is worth it. Great place to get your walk on and enjoy the scenery. Bird watcher paradise. Cafe and gift shoppe available. Lots of clean restrooms. Plant sales and kids programs are fun!
Do Duy
Very pretty & serene. Bring snacks and stay hydrated. There’s an ice cream cart man & beverage stall ladies in the park.

It's such a beautiful place to walk around, do small hikes, watch birds, walk along with Peacocks, see rabbits, squirrels, Nature is so beautiful!!...

Two visits to the L. A. Arboretum to see Pasadena Pops Summer Concerts. On July 23rd it was "Aretha a Tribute " a celebration of Aretha Franklin's music. It was a wonderful event featuring Broadway diva Capethia Jenkins. I had such a wonderful experience in July, I returned on September 10th to see and hear "Broadway on Film" featuring guest artists & Tony nominee -Lillias White; Tony award winner- LaChanze; Tony Yazbeck and special guests; conductor, Michael Feinstein created a wonderful evening of music. It was a great way to end the summer.
susanalasus
Great place to visit! Only $15 per adult
They have senior and student discount with proper ID.
Bring a picnic and enjoy a peaceful day amongst nature and California history.
Melystikal
Came to the seasonal event at the arboretum called Lightscape and it was wonderful to see how much work with lights the workers here put in to entertain everyone. Although it was a short walk they did have several bar areas for some drinks or snacks. Awesome event to come with your family or a date.
Lucie
Perfect for walks, cheap admission tickets $15. Cafe right next to the entrance with very good snack and lunch dishes (sandwiches, burgers, wraps, coffee). Free roaming peacocks around. I'd personally suggest having about 2 - 3 hours to spend here to see most of the trails & buildings.
Fab Arte
Its a beautiful place to go and relax, the peacocks r free walking around very close to u, i really recomend u to there walk around and get some fresh air.
Fernando Munoz
Amazing views best date idea. No food aloud unfortunately. Get a season pass and take your girl there or to meditate on your own

Originally came here for the fern show which we thought would be outside the arboretum, but had to buy tickets to get in. The fern show itself was a flop, but at least we had the rest of the arboretum to make up for it. Lots to see and explore, pretty nice.
E “Kuya Eggai”
Sold out when I came; very nice lady saw my camera and let me in. Thank you for a great experience.

Recommended for those interested in plants and curious about the various fruits on the trees. Lots of species that are spaced out in this large park.
Tips/Advice:
- Free tickets every 3rd Tuesday; Register at beginning of month.
- Parking is free
- Go early in the morning, depending on season can get hot by 11 AM with little shade
- Take the right side of the loop first (Africa and Australia). The left side is the forest and is shaded and cooler
- No food at the park, but a cafe at entrance and lots of places to eat nearby afterwards
- Expect to walk 12k steps for 2-3 hours
Highlights:
- Plumeria
- Meyberg Waterfall and Baldwin Lake
- Queen Anne Cottage
- peacocks & squirrels & various wildlife... bird, ducks, turtle. Startled a coyote as much as it startled us O_O
- different collections such as palm, bamboo, aloe
- check season for rose garden, herbs, and orchid garden in tropical greenhouse

Incredible place. So many different ecosystems, just about everything labeled for those who are curious or obsessed with identifying everything. Lots of critters if you like animals. Extremely well maintained arboretum. Highly recommend

A must visit for anyone who lives in Los Angeles! The LA Arboretum is GIANT! There is so much to see here that it’s nearly impossible to see it all in a day! Obviously it’s all about the plants and gardens here… but there is so much more! There are a number of historic buildings and structures including a historic train station to see and explore! Like animals? Sure you’re guaranteed to see peacocks galore… but you’ll see turtles, fish, frogs, amazing birds… and even a coyote on our last trip, haha.
After a lot of hiking around our family enjoys visiting the cafe for cold drinks and maybe even a snack. It’s such a delightful day! Highly recommend! Also, maybe get lunch or dinner at The Old Spaghetti Factory while you’re in town!

Today, I saw a peacock fall out of a tree and I just wasn’t expecting that. I hope he’s okay.
It’s so beautiful here! We loved walking all of the paths and reading the plaques. I’m an avid gardener and it was so nice to recognize the plants and consider all of the care that has been taken into growing them. Highly recommend!

I returned to get a closer look at this natural wonderland, a collection of local and imported trees, plants and shrubs!
I was visually entertained by the neatly landscaped pathways thru the mini-wilderness, jungle, naturescapes and bush country.
The old house and barn were interesting, tho I was only able to walk inside the barn house.
The small lakes, ponds and creeks were so cool!
Beautiful geraniums added color to my visit, from the garden variety I’ve grown at home, to commercial cityscape types seen around town.
The nearby rose garden was small, tho a nice setup to see and smell!
The Mayberg Waterfall was a surprise that I wouldn’t expect to see here during a drought! There’s stepped pathways up above the large falls offering views of much smaller waterfalls on the downhill. The natural sound of flowing water was an extra added bonus!
There’s lot’s of helpful signage all around. Directional signs, some with maps and some with more information, are helpful to navigate the park.
The labeling was a great learning tool, especially with common local trees having origins from elsewhere. The Australian eucalyptus or gum tree is a good example, now a familiar sight in coastal California!

Open by reservation during the pandemic this place is fantastic. Check out the map for the different garden areas as it is too large to tackle it all in one day. . If you become a member you no longer need reservations and do not have to wait in line to get in.
The Lightscape night light show is fantastic.
Peter Xaymountry
If you haven't explore this garden then you are reallymissing out because it's a beautiful place on a great day. I got my tickets online off their website and chose the time right when they open on Saturday. Finding parking was easy but the entrance wasn't properly label signs. I walked to the door that said entrance but it's really on the left side of the main entrance. You just scan with your ticket and you basically walk in after that. The main attraction is of course the waterfall but you'll see Peacock walking around the garden too and in the parking lot. There even some hiking path with some uphill if you're looking for some workout. They don't restrict you with just walking trail, you can take shortcuts and explore on your own path but just be respectful to not step on any flowers and of course look out for animal waste. My girlfriend and I had a great time exploring this place.

This was a relaxing walk in the park, even in December. The rose garden was nice, the trails were clear and easy to follow. It was not overcrowded, so it felt calm and intimate. The price was fair and the restrooms were clean and easy to find. Parking was easy too. Nice place to visit and walk around.

One of my fav places to be a member. Our flag means death was filmed here btw so if you're a crewmates swing by and relive the romance. 🏳️🌈💖❤️ …

Where the peacocks roam. Go during mating season to see their plumes in full color otherwise you may be disappointed to find out they don’t fan out year round. The park has a fee but is definitely worth the visit with an array of plants from different regions. My favorite areas are the tropical greenhouses with orchids. Looks like another world. Annually hosts fun and unique events such as a big cacti sales and bonsai event. Very fun. Bring binoculars if you’re into bird watching. Very sunny in some areas without shade. Bring good walking shoes and an umbrella or hat for hot days. The cafe is ok and pricey. The library is tiny and wonderful with knowledgeable staff. There are old restored and museum like houses on site. Always a treat. Parking can get crowded. The mall is across the way with several good eats if youre hungry after a long walk.
Sheri
Lovely gardens and small art installations placed here and there to delight your walk. Peacocks may appear at any time but they're not aggressive. There is a small cafe/snack bar with friendly staff. Great place to do a meditative walk and the waterfall is a must see. See plants from all over the world. Can get crowded

One of the best places to spend a day. Full of peacocks 🦚 , ducks 🦆, parrots 🦜set in luscious gardens. After a long hot day, cross the street and cool down at the Santa Anita Mall …
EvilDaffodil
I have been coming to this place for years. Just recently, I bought a membership for it. There is something about walking in there and looking at all the plants and all the different wildlife. Peacocks are just everywhere and that to me is the main attraction. My mom and I like to visit the orchid greenhouse. The orchids are very lovely. The rose garden is beautiful as well. Can't wait for the Spring for the flowers to bloom. The herb garden is a nice place to walk through and the waterfall is also a very nice and calm place to sit and ponder.
Jason Huff
Love this place! Great for a long walk with friends and family. Super kid friendly. The peacocks are beautiful and mischievous. My favorite walk is through the ancient forest. If you’re lucky at sunset you’ll catch white herons resting in a shaded and hidden corner of the pond. I can’t wait to go back.
Joline Chen
Really big plenty to see and to do! Peacock mating seasons go from March to August so we went at the perfect time!
Saw lots of peacock mating rituals (very entertaining btw), and even saw PEACOCK BABIES!!! The garden is beautiful and lots of seats to sit down & relax.
Olivia Reyes
Love the Arboretum! I've been coming here since I was a kid and it's only getting nicer. It still has all of the beautiful spots I used to love like the rose garden, water fall and bamboo area. Now they have beautiful succulent type gardens and tons of picturesque places. It's a perfect place to take photos of the family. They do offer membership that comes with photo permits which is a great value. I just bought a family membership which is awesome because you can get in as early as 7:30am, which is perfect because it's not too hot.
VintoW
My first visit here was in the early 70s. Cost has gone up, but the research these guys do has had an enormous impact on botany in the SW US and beyond. If you want a technical tour, call ahead, and they might take you into some of the greenhouses. Careful with the pea fowl, they can be mean.
Shelley Crawford
The LA County Arboretum is an absolutely beautiful and serene getaway! Especially these days when lots of places are closed or limited. Wish I lived closer... we'd come all the time! As a child, I had many magical adventures here, so it holds a special place in my heart. It can get hot, but there are so many shady spots and benches/chairs for rest. Also has a nice lake with many ducks and geese. Plenty of restrooms throughout the property and they were clean and tidy. Big parking lot. We are not members so the price was $15 per adult; $11 for senior citizens. Would've rated 5 stars, but the employees weren't very friendly at the check in. They are strongly enforcing the mask mandate, which I understand at the entrance... but at over a 100 acre site, and people greatly spaced out, the employees patrolling the grounds shouldn't be shouting at patrons to "wear a mask!" It was a very hot day and it was hard to breathe. Other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed visiting.
Ellen Sturgis
As east coast folk, this was beyond expectations. Saw plants from Africa, as well as the arid southwest. The map isn’t great but we enjoyed the wandering. Staff very friendly and helpful. We had about 2 hours, could have done more
Kyma A
What a beautiful collection of different trees, flowers, herbs and peacocks. If your lucky you'll run into Alvaro, he madde the day amazing. He saved me from passing out and gave me a beautiful trip around the grounds. He's a wealth of knowledge and made the day for me and my son evenorw exciting!!! He's just as fascinating as the peacocks.

The Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden, 127 acres ,was founded in 1947. Admission is a bargain at only $15.00 per person. Students with ID & Seniors: $11.00. Children age 5-12:$5.00, and children under 4 years: Free. We were so thrilled that they were still open during the Pandemic, because it's so hard to find anything open. Parking is free- a great bonus! There is a lot of walking, so visitors should wear comfortable shoes. Masks are required, but Arboretum staff aren't patrolling the grounds on mask patrol- which was nice. The Meyberg Waterfall is majestic, and the focal point of the venue. There is seating near the waterfall, where we relished the peacefulness. An additional bonus: it was quite warm on the day we visited, and the waterfall distributed a wonderful cool breeze. The Rose Garden didn't have many flowers in bloom, due to the season, but I imagine it's amazing in Spring/Summer. We were looking forward to the orchids in the Tropical Greenhouse, but it was closed. The gift shop was open, and we went inside to purchase cold water. There was a lot of great browsing opportunities, but the store was already at capacity due to Covid guidelines. There are many wonderful trees with species from all over the world. Peacocks roam freely throughout the property, adding a delightful splash of color. The Peacock Cafe looked lovely, but we didn't visit because it was take out only, due to the Pandemic. My only critique would be that the signage be better. Maps weren't available at the front gate, and we weren't sure where we were at a few times. I am wholeheartedly give the Arboretum 5 Stars for being a wonderful place for families and couples to get some fresh air and exercise and ESPECIALLY during Covid. There are many beautiful things to experience at a very reasonable admission price.
Joshua Maddux
The LA Arboretum is an incredible outdoor garden with lots to see. The garden is separated into different areas with areas like a rose garden, and much more.
We went for a family outing and ended up getting the family pass as we walked 4miles and still didn’t see everything. After being stuck inside for a year (COVID) not a bad way to get out and stretch your legs.
cheyenne yanez
The LA Arboretum is a beautiful space located in Arcadia, CA, near the Santa Anita Racetrack.
It's a botanical garden and trees and plants from around the world. It features a waterfall, lakes, gardens, and over 2 miles of pavement where you can walk or jog on. They also have greenhouse, giftshop, and cafe, but they're closed due to Covid 19. They feauture an outdoor bar on weekends.
There is abundance of wildlife here; Coyote, squirrels, turtles, peacocks, different types of birds.
Non members have to pay for the tickets online instead of at the gate.
Membership is of great value!
For $80 a year, I can get my husband, my daughter, and myself in.
They do require masks at all times. There is security on the premises. The restrooms are clean.
I suggest you bring in a backpack, snacks, drinks, a camera, sunscreen and a hat.
There's alot of space here.
This is a great place to enjoy nature in the city. There are also many beautiful benches to sit on all over the place.
HipHopDance Eliana
They only let you in if you wear a mask but inside you have the freedom to do what you see best. Peacocks roam the garden and there is a place with just forest and no pathway. We walked so far we got to the staff buildings. There are gardens like Africa and Asia. There are so many pretty flowers. Staff occasionally drive by on golf carts but they create a friendly atmosphere. The store is open and the salad I got said it would have mushrooms in it and it never did. The janitor let me leave my cute peacock drawing in their. You can also sneak food inside just hide it among clothing and they give free golf cart rides for birthdays just do not forget to wear a crown lol.
regis kwong
What a relief to walk in the park. I was stressed out with the second locked down. Luckily, the Arboretum is still open to the public.
We took a walk inside and to enjoy the various plants and flowers. Even though, it is the fall now, there are still nice plants and flowers to see here. I like fall colors with the trees turning golden yellow. You can just let yourself loose here and totally forget there is a pandemic going on right now.
With the many peacocks roaming around, we felt like we were in the wilderness. While enjoying the beauty of the arboretum, we got our exercises of the day done too. This is a great place to have a daily walk.
For those of you want to come here on the regular basis, you can get an annual membership. For those of you just want to come once awhile, you can come on the third Tuesday of the month and get a free entry, but you have to make a reservation online.
Parking is plenty. Besides the main parking lot, there are two other auxiliary parking lots next to the Arboretum.
Each New Year, the Arboretum has a moon light exhibition where the park is filled with theme animals lit up with lights. But unfortunately, due to Covid-19, this year’s light show was canceled. Hopefully we can see that in 2021.
April Tamashiro
I love taking my 10-year-old son here! This is such a beautiful and peaceful place. It is a very large area so you can get in a lot of walking, but there are so many beautiful plants and wildlife everywhere that you could stay in the same spot for an hour and still enjoy it so much! I just found out about this place less than a year ago and we've already been twice. I wish I had more free time so we could go back more often.
Randy Delaney
I enjoy being outdoors. We took the family to spend a couple of hours together and enjoying all of the different trees, bushes and flowers. Although technically it’s winter here there were still a lot of trees in the park that don’t lose their leaves. I can only imagine how green and colorful this place is during the spring and summer months.
We started our visit by paying $5 each for a tour of the park on the tram. I would recommend this. You learn about the various species of plants and trees as well as the history of the park. The tour definitely will give you a totally different experience when you visit.
There have been lots of scenes from various movies , commercials, TV shows etc. filmed at the park. In fact the opening scene from the TV series Fantasy Island was filmed at the park.
There is also wildlife that make the park home. Lots of peacocks as well. I would recommend if you would like a relaxing visit somewhere and like the outdoors the LA County Arboretum is worth a visit.
Diana Gonzalez
The lightscape in la is a must see! the place is very organized with free parking and they provide shuttle to take you to the park. There is lots of restrooms throughout the walk and food.
Guzal Mamadjanova
That's an awesome place, with beautiful nature and wild life. Cannot wait to come there back again! The only thing - outta too hot to walk there during summer days, better save the visit for the fall or spring season
Viktor Schmidt
Great experience for anyone who loves plants and nature. It was intersting too see all our house plants in the tropical greenhouse. I would recommend budgeting at least 2-3 hours to see the entire place, more if enjoy slowing down and taking photos and if you plan to eat something in the cafe. (2 hours seemed enough to just see about half the place). Parking is free, Entry fee $9 or $15 from March 1st.
Jessica Chiang
When going to the Santa Anita Westfield Mall, I had always seen this place and wanted to visit. Now, since I'm doing a lot more outdoor activities due to COVID, I've finally gotten around to making a visit and I loved it!
I had originally purchased tickets for a Sunday, but wasn't able to make it that day. I came instead on a Tuesday and was still able to redeem my unused tickets rather than buying them again which was great! I was very happy about the flexibility in which days/times you can use your ticket for. The employees were very friendly about it too and changing the date on the ticket only took them a second!
I spent most of the afternoon meandering through the garden, taking it slow and enjoying my time there. There were tons of shaded spots with benches to take a break and bask in nature. Be sure to bring some sunscreen though, just in case, and pack some bug spray as well. A peacock may even decide to come in the same shady spot as you to escape the heat!
My favorite part of the garden was the prehistoric forest area - it was very much like entering an ancient jungle with all sorts of interesting plants. It was one of the most shaded areas of the garden too which added to the allure.
Everyone in the garden did a good job at social distancing. I did see one large group gathered, but it just looked like a large family rather than a group of friends. Most people were wearing masks as well. Entry to the garden is touchless - they just have you scan your ticket and then let you enter. Some paths were one way only, but for the most part you could walk the garden whichever way you wanted.

This arboretum literally made me so happy. I have been to a few arboretums across the country and this one totally takes the cake. I needed some time in nature by myself yesterday afternoon and loved being able to just meander, get "lost" in the trails, and appreciate the immense diversity of plant life they have been able to support there.
And, come on, there's peacocks EVERYWHERE. That alone escalates the "cool factor" of this place!
If you can, I highly recommend coming during the week - there were barely any crowds and I felt very at peace without having to dodge people.
For adults, it's only $9 for admission which is incredibly reasonable given how big this place is and all that there is to see. Parking is easy and they offer pretty good discounts for students, seniors, kids, and membership passes.
This is, 100%, my new go to place when I need some zen, quiet time.
Alana
I love the Arboretum, and have been coming here since I was a child. It was fairly busy despite covid being a thing. The weather was lovely and there was plenty of shade towards the center of the arboretum.
Because of covid, you have to order the tickets online ahead of time and scan your e-tickets at the gate. Each adult ticket only costs $15. You should bring your own water but you're not allowed to bring your own food. The peacock Cafe is still open so you can grab a light snack there. Overall it was a super sweet day and I'll definitely be coming back.
Jennifer Cradduck
Absolutely a great place to spend all day or just a few hours. The famous peacocks never disappoint. There is always something going extra from the Plumeria Day to music in the park type stuff.
I love that they have easy access to transportation for those who may need it within the gardens.
Sayali Tungare
Beautiful and serene! Cannot describe my experience here in words. It was so amazing! If you love nature and botanical gardens, then it's a must visit. There are soooooo many peacocks out in the open, walking beside you, I was amazed! The waterfall and the lake side is beautiful! The African/Australian side of the garden had such a wonderful garden full of colourful cacti and succulents!
Monica M
Great spot to see interesting plants and take a long walk with a family. I went when they were setting up for the holiday light display in November 2018 so my pictures had many of the colorful displays they had up. Also cool to see the peacocks walking around.
Sam the Maam
Even better than I remember. Wish the lake was in better shape but honestly it really didn't affect what a wonderful time we had and all the other beautiful things you could see. Wonderful place to take the kids for a leisurely walk to appreciate nature. Make sure you have plenty of time because we could have used a whole day.
Mark Lau
Great place for my morning walk. You can see all four seasons by the color of the trees and plants. Only wish for more restrooms throughout the park.
Fernando Avalos
Great place for a nature walk, place is huge with nice scenery. Cost $9 for entrance but worth it, pack some water and snacks for kids. Park has drinking fountains throughout. Parking is free and has plenty of spaces available, but gets crowded in the weekends.
Suzy Ruiz
Went to the Arboretum at night over the weekend to see the Moonlight Lantern Light Festival. It was spectacular. Wide open paths, except you have to watch your step for many of the rolling potholes and some uneven terrain- but they were mindful to place cones over these areas too.
The lanterns were very colorful, playful and fun to watch. The government colors were stunning. Felt like a kid again, walking thru a fairyland. Fun for families, couples and kids off all ages.
Diane Brewington
Beautiful, very large, peaceful place full of so many varieties of all things plants, trees and herbs. The Bamboo forest on the edge of Baldwin lake is soothing to walk through, while catching glimpses of Queen Anne's cottage. You can follow the main paths or go off exploring the many trails to discover magical places tucked within. Lots of peacocks too! Plenty of free parking.
Amir Khamesi
Great place We visited this place And both of us loved it. Parking is free and you can spend plenty of time in the garden. You can pack lunch or buy it there. Plan for a long visit at least 3 to 4 hours if you want see all around. It’s one of the best in this area. With nice and friendly staff. The ticket is very cheap and affordable.
Erica Fung
Came here because of cherry blossom~ They have plenty of parking space, and it is free. Adult admission is $15, and student is $11.
They have a lot of different style of gardens that require a lot of walking! Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water!
I also saw a lot of people took their wedding pictures here.
The gift shop is very cute that they sell handicraft that is made by the volunteers, and they are not pricey! Will continue to support!
Lily Lopez
Love it! Plant lady dreams🌿 if you plan to visit, get here early. Parking is limited, you may have to drive around or park in residential areas. There a lot of walking and sun, so bring a hat/umbrella just in case. The entrance price is $9 for adults, $4 for children and $6 for students with ID. Lots of beautiful peacocks roaming the park, you can get some pretty good pictures. The park is divided into different parts of the world.
They also have teams available that take you to different sections or back to the entrance.

We attended the Moonlight Festival in the evening last year & again this year. There were a couple pieces that heldover from last year but there were plenty of new ones to see too. The lanterns & lights are awesome, plenty of photo ops, & a handful of interactive spots. The acrobat show was impressive.
I still need to go back during the day to checkout the plants properly.
Karen L Lawrence
My daughter, son & I went to the special event, "Moonlight Forest" during the Christmas holidays. There were so many beautiful light displays to see that we didn't have time to see the show that was on the main stage. Fortunately the weather was nice and it wasn't too crowded so we could see all of the displays.
Rucha Tadwalkar
A hidden gem in LA! I found this place because I was randomly searching for the Fantasy Island house on the Internet- this is where they filmed it! If you were/are into American 80’s television, then you will be even more excited to come here. I never expected the variety of plants and flowers. Beautiful walking trails. The Peacock Cafe has many options on the menu, good food, and nice outdoor (and indoor seating). Peacocks are walking all over the park and are friendly. One could easily spend the day here. Entrance fee is totally reasonable. Will definitely be coming back here!
Javier Heyer
It was amazing! Went to see the Magical Lantern Art Festival and some if the displays were gorgeous! The Chinese acrobats were outstanding, and the Face Changer kept us scratching our heads, how do they do that?! Different food trucks were available and lots of seating, bring a jacket as it got quite chilly! A+
L.J. Herndon
Never a disappointment regardless of the time of year. Always enjoy walking around the grounds and seeing the lush landscape that is meticulously cared for. Best time to visit is in the Spring when flowers are in full Bloom and then in the fall when the foliage has started to turn
Becky Hejka
The Arboretum is 127 acres of plants and trees, collected from all over the globe, by different owners of this huge property. Some of these selections of plants and trees, are sectioned into the areas of the world that they are native to. There is a 40 minute tram ride, for a $5 fee, that's extra. You will hear history of the park, from the tour guide/ tram driver, and interesting trees and plants are pointed out along the way, thru a large portion of the park. Lakes, waterfalls and fountains dot the property, along with a few buildings that were used by the previous owners. You may recognise these from the scenes from movies or T.V. shows. Apparently, a pair of Peafowl, were brought here from India and the offspring have filled the park! They wander, nest, preen, fly and roost in the trees, of this entire property. Coordinated gardens , of the kitchen, English, cactus, California, Mediterranean, and tropical kind are well planned and ready for you to explore. There is a small cafe/ restaurant serving salads and sandwiches, with indoor and outdoor seating. Also a small, quaint gift shop, with restrooms nearby. We paid $ 9.00 for adult admission.
elvira evans
Beautiful and a very long walk! There is a grassy area where you can sit and relax tho.. Benches along the route. Lots and lots of jungles and trees.. Large lake, peacocks everywhere! Historic house!! Beautiful lawns!! All in all a very nice place to be.. Make sure to wear a nice walking shoes. And don't forget the hat...
astaquenopueda
What a beautiful place. I felt like I wasn't in the city for a while. The animals, trees, flowers, lakes, and ponds were amazing. I will be going back for sure. My nephew loved it.
Meme Nisimo
The Arboretum has reopened to the public. Tickets 🎟 are required for non members but members can arrive at any time. Masks and distancing are required.
As large as the Arboretum is, there are areas where people congregate, like the waterfall. Sadly, groups of people removed their masks for pictures.
We just avoided these spots, and the majority of people were responsible and kept to protocols.
junex B
Had a great time at this park! Large and so many areas to explore. I would suggest if you use photoshop or do other digital art work, this park can give you great textures in photos. I like how everything is separated based on the continent. Makes it easy to pick and choose where you want to go first.
Doerte Sennecke-Chow
94 degree weather made pleasant by plenty of shaded areas, a breeze over the lawn and a drink in your hand. The facility offered a pop up bar stand outside.
Timed entry due to Covid19 pandemic in 2020. Timed entry made for a restful experience and free roaming in lots of unoccupied spaces.
Online tickets were easily available at Arboretum.org.
We bought the online tickets upon arrival. We were able to get them for the current timeslot and entered right away.
We did not make it all the way to the waterfall this time. Planning to come back for it on a not so hot day.
Jessica Guillen
I went with my partner during the Lantern Festival and we loved it. The special event was magical with all the lights/lanterns. The grounds were fantastic and very well kept. I will come again for this event next year and I will most certainly come again to the arboretum just to spend time in a beautiful, nature focused space.
Paul G
Located just off the 210 freeway and across the street from Santa Anita Park, the LA County Arboretum is a great place for dates, families and visitors to the city. A beautiful and peaceful oasis in the middle of the metro area.
Man-Yan Lam
Varied plants, accessible paths, and wonderful sights and smells even after a series of heavy rains. Prices in cafe were reasonable too.
Josephine Ong
I was here during the Moonlight Forest Lantern Festival, and I must say it was an awesome experience to see the beautiful giant lanterns with my family. Although parking is very limited, they reserved an area near the event for extra parking and there are shuttle buses to take you back to the park. Overall the lanterns are truly a work of art and worth seeing. #MoonlightForestLA
Æbîlēne HNrs
It was a nice surprise. It's actually better than Descanso even if there are more plants than flowers. The bodies of water with all of the fishes, ducks and turtles are awesome. The waterfalls is so gorgeous you'll forget you're in Los Angeles. There are also a few peacocks who loves to show off. Fun visit.
McKenzie Turner
We love this place! My daughter always has a fun time looking at the beautiful peacocks and flowers. The Queen Ann cottage and barn is always a favorite too. We gets passes every year.
Josie Zinberg
Arboretum Al, is a wonderful guide and very informative about the surrounding territories. He was very helpful and very nice. The Arboretum is a wonderful place to go, even on a hot sunny day. Lots of shade, wonderful smells, and lots of peacocks to enjoy! Thank you for keeping this wonderful place open!
Ezra Dubej
They had a bunch of port-a-potties set up for their evening light show, and had many signs pointing to them, but they were all padlocked shut for the day crowd. The actual bathrooms are buried in out-of-the-way places.
If you’re going to spend the time to lock/unlock all the temporary restrooms, take an extra 30 secs to cover the signs pointing to them!
David Strickland
This place is beautiful! The Arboretum is an oasis in an otherwise busy area. Totally became a member. It was supposed to be the busiest time of day, but the place is big enough that it didn't feel crowded at all... Mind you it was a hundred degrees on the day I was there, but it never felt like there was too many people there. Every one of the staff members I encountered were delightful. I can't wait to go back and spend some time really exploring.
Tzvi Hametz
What a beautiful place! It's huge we couldn't even get through the whole place in one day! Great for all ages. Wheelchair and stroller friendly. This place is kept meticulously clean and it's educational to boot.
Mandi Orr
Absolutely amazing magical beautiful place. It is a huge garden that always has something beautiful to see blooming. I was in pressed by the tropical green house with the orchids. The prehistoric forest is also a must see! Highly recommend stopping in to check it out.
Jennifer Kuiper
Nice chill place to walk, lots of open or more closed off places to sit and relax and enjoy the nature. I love the lay out of the park- different sections for aloe, prehistoric, plumeria, etc. The peacocks are all over the park-, friendly, and beautiful.
Gregory Rassolov
The Arboretum is large and has a lot of beautiful plants, with plenty of water scenery to admire and wildlife (especially peacocks and waterfowl like geese, mallards, and coots) to observe. Photography for personal use is free. The layout of the Arboretum groups plants from the same continent in fairly large and distinct areas, and you can walk through them and admire the trees and shrubs from (for example) Australia at your leisure. (Bring decent shoes and socks just so the twigs scattered on the ground don't poke you.) There are also greenhouses and special gardens. The price is very ready, and overall it's a lovely place to walk around for a few hours or just to relax in.
Celeste Forslund
Such a beautiful experience. So many amazing plants, trees and flowers. Very rare ones too. Had a great experience here. Also a very nice place for walking.
Kenan Dokuyucu
I love this place there are such a wide variety of trees, plants, flowers etc. to look at. There are also several signs and a map so you don't get lost. If you venture out here make sure to check out the waterfall as there is a nice view of the mountains. And if you happen to be a fan of peacocks then you are going to be very happy as they roam freely about the park.
A Diamond
Beautiful place nice to go during Covid they limit the people inside and it’s not overcrowded people usually stay at a distance
Masonic Traveler (Masonic Traveler)
A beautiful gem for the city of Los Angeles. It’s groomed, clean, and full of delightful plants to check out. Look for the banana trees to see how they grow. The barn and original house are VERY cool and the recreated native peoples grass hit is AMAZING.
Audy Vasquez-Ramirez
It was so pretty we love it. Plenty of parking a bit pricey but we enjoyed ourselves. Wear warm clothes it was very cold. Adjacent to freeways and malls!!
Sarah
This place is peaceful and beautiful. Only $9 to get in and the scenery is worth every penny. Walking around amongst the wildlife is amazing.
Manuel Rodriguez
Beauty upon beauty. Lots of walking or jogging trails. A bit cool in the mornings due to plenty of shade. Rich with history beautiful peacocks, ducks geese and more. Very relaxing place, .y 9 year daughter loved it.
Jenny Day
Absolutely loved this place! So beautiful, words can't describe. It was like being at Fantasy Island (they did film the tv series here too). Want to go back very soon. Amazing!
Ian Jones
Went for the Christmas light display. Path runs visitors one way though a variety of different art installations. Can get crowded at points, but opens up nicely during the second half. Walk takes anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.
Babaj Garrison
Lightscape at the Arboretum.
Outdoor walk in the evening during the holidays.
Enjoy the surroundings of beautiful trees and landscape dressed in heavenly lights.
Recommended for all ages.
abushehab (al3aqeed)
A great place to have outdoors fun see some Peacocks and different animals also there’s a big lake that looks weird it has too much algae that made the lake color green, also there’s the house of the late Elias J. Baldwin where they kept all his furniture and belongings.
Arnell Ando
Wonderful arboretum with lovely trees, scenic views & walkways to explore. Colorful birds including peacocks strutting about, like they own the place. ;) Currently open (during COVID-19) with safe distancing and reserving tickets ahead online. (Bring your own water.) Had a great time with family.
Leslie A
I went during the time they were having like a night festival event but ended up going in the morning. I assume it would look 10x better at night! Beautiful place to just walk around and enjoy nature!
Joon K
This place is a gem in the San Gabriel Valley. A great place for the young and the old to stroll the beautiful thematic gardens. There are different blossoms for every season, if you can say the are seasons in SoCal. I'm discovering new things everytime I come here. The price is decent as well. $9 for adults and $4 for kids under 12 and $6 for seniors.
Rudy Gonzalez
Love coming here during Christmas time. Great decorations and lights.
Vince Almaraz
Amazing place. A beautiful arboretum and botanical garden. A great place to walk around and enjoy the sights. It also has a sizable population of peacocks, plus various other wildlife. The lagoon is gorgeous and was filming spot for the opening sequence of the late series Fantasy Island. It also has an surprisingly good cafe. The food is excellent. Highly recommended.
Nazim Deen
Amazing displays. The tickets were only 28 and was well worth the drive and price. I highly recommend this place to go for on a date or take your family.
Joseph Valdez
Great place for a early morning summer walk. Nice safe place for some peaceful exercise. Fun for older kids where they can burn some energy.
Douglas Chan-Wing
Amazing gardens of all sorts. They also host seasonal music festivals, festival of lights this winter, and can host events. Local gem fun for all ages
Heidi Thomas
We went in mid-October and it is so gorgeous. Not just for wedding photos, but it’s so pleasant to just walk around and get some fresh air. We really love coming here year round and seeing what blooms at different times of the year.
Carlo N.
The LA Arboretum is a 127-acres of stunning gardens and natural landscapes located in Arcadia. We went to see their holiday MoonlightForest event. Admission tickets are timed and price was reasonable at 22 bucks. It was a magnificent light art display and show performance that everyone can enjoy and have fun especially kids and romantic couples. Perfect spot to bring the family and your significant other. Moreover, they have food trucks and cafe. Staff were nice, competent and attentive.
Parking lot (Gate 7 and 8) can get full pretty quickly. I suggest you come early. And bring jackets because temperature drops late at night to 45 degrees. Overall, we had a lovely fun time and highly recommend this place.
Victoria Kondo
One of the best arboretums I've ever been to. Members get in free with no reservation times right now. Regular patrols of employees ensure people social distance and wear masks.
Jose Alonso

The Moonlight Festival is awesome! They have food, snacks, and drinks including Hot Toddys and Spiked Hot Chocolate! Dress warmly, and arrive early on a weeknight for easy parking and less people.

It's fantastic ,the view is great, a real jewel of nature. Peacocks everywhere and at dusk you can see them up on the trees ready to rest .
maria
Nice place to walk around and see different plants. They have various ponds with turtles and fish, there's also peacock. My only big complaint is that they don't provide enough bathrooms.

This place is gorgeous and a wonderful place to get your steps in! Got a membership today and I got a nice 3.5 mile walk in and didn't even see half of the place! General admission is only $9 and after seeing it, you'll understand how much cost it would be to maintain the grounds! Free parking too!

Richard Rivera
It was our very first time. The arboretum was absolutely gorgeous. No complaints here. If you enjoy the outdoors I highly recommend a visit!
Richard Aguirre
This place is lovely. Great way to spend a Saturday morning. The peacocks need to learn to chill out and get all the way off my back whilst dining at the cafe, but I guess it's not their fault people are conditioning them to human food by disregarding the signs.
Love the variety of flora as well! Bring the kids!
Mercy Hasselblad
Gorgeous plàce with so much to see and some incredible events! The astounding variety and display of the different plants was beautiful. I went on a relatively cloudy Saturday and it wasn't crowded at all. Loved wandering around and breathing in the trees from around the world.

My favorite place to take the family. Very spacious, lots of beautiful, well cared for flowers/plants, peacocks freely roam the grounds, and there are multiple ponds and a waterfall with fish and turtles. I purchased a family membership to use during the quarantine and go at least once a week. It is definitely worth the money.
Denice Todd
A perfect place to get away from the hustle of city life... if only for a few hours.

Truly gorgeous grounds. We wandered for most of the day & only managed to see about half of it! So many beautiful trees, bushes, flowers, & even wildlife-peacocks, turtles, ducks, geese, koi, & other fish, too. Lots of paved trails as well as more natural, yet well-groomed pathways; definitely something for everyone!
PJ Clarke

Wow! If you're at all on the fence about visiting this magical land, don't hesitate. The Arboretum made a beautiful and active day date. Not too far from downtown Pasadena, a perfect way to end the day. I think we spent about three hours in total for 9 dollars a person. Can't beat that deal.
Heather P

I love their yearly light show! Stretches of beautifully lit displays. Many couples, families enjoying the scenery, taking selfies. Their entrance fee, is pretty steep at almost $30! :(
Its been years that I haven't been here in the daytime but I'm definitely going to make plans to go.
Timothy Ochoa
I really loved this place, it is huge!! Always something new to look at.
Socorro Sperati
Came here as a child and had not been back. Today I shared this amazing place with my family and we loved it! Tons of walking which didn't feel like tons of walking. This place is stunning. I want to go back so I can really see everything. I love the peacocks that just wander around free. The staff is great, especially Ivonne. There is a gazebo on the premises that just screams wedding venue and every section of the park is dedicated to different types of plants. Bring a picnic and just hang out a while. You won't regret it. Can't wait to go back.
Beatriz Morales
It's a beautiful place, fa.ily place outdoors for people that love nature...

Even in winter, this is a wonderful place to visit. There is a little of everything; open fields for picnics or running children, gardens, greenhouses, an antique house, waterfalls, fountains and so much more! The paths are well marked and there are maps at key points to help you avoid getting turned around. The roaming peacocks are a sight to behold as well.

A very large, well kept park. Has many beautiful mature trees, a green house for tropical plants, and a beautiful pond lined with palm trees. Has a large group of peacocks in the park and you may be fortunate to see a male bird flashing his feathers trying to impress you. Parking is free and entrance fees are reasonable.

Loved it! The lighting and the music this year was beautiful! Highly recommend it!

Mind blowing! I had no idea so many acres of lush green scenery and wildlife I was missing out on. Went early on a Friday in May, almost empty! What a magical experience to have the park nearly to myself. A must see for anyone, at least once! Although you may not see it all in 1 day. Peacocks were amazing walking around everywhere. The greenest place I've ever see!
David Baca
It was a great place to spend some time and relax. The foliage was amazing. Great place to visit!

Beautiful gardens. A lot of variety. If you enjoy history check out the cottage and the train depot! I suggest going on the week day...weekends get very crowded. $6 w/ student ID. $9 for adult.

Beautiful place, and visiting on the free day was great! There was no line--I went in at about 2pm--even though it was a free day.

Mitesh Damania
Amazing place to get away. Lots of walking and exploring opportunities. Be one with trees and nature a block away from civilization.
There are tram tours on the weekend for a few hours. Call I'm ahead of time time and check for times. Its a very very limited schedule. I recommend the tram as it introduces you to all the important areas of the place.
At the end of 2018 they have the Moonlight festival where they light up props made in China. Some of them look like they could be Rose Parade floats. They are stunning and a bit quirky and you can tell a lot of time and effort went into them. Go enjoy them! There is a separate fee in the evening for entrance but see all the objects during the day.
Cost is only $9 to get in during the day and you can get a membership that will allow you in unlimited times. There are a lot of people walking and exercising everyday.
They have docent led tours, mostly in the mornings. Check their website.
The volunteers, docents, and staff are a treat. The visit quite a pleasant experience.
Elicia Miller
Great place to getaway in the city. Some parts were a little sparse though. Great for the price
Lily Brennan
I really love the tranquility the garden can bring .It was like stepping into a magical garden and all else that was on my mind froze. I love how well kept the gardens were and how many variations of trees and plants there was to look at and discover.

Lewis Jasper
So much fun! I don't recommend going in December simply because you'll miss alot of the blooms but it is still amazingly beautiful
Julie Vaillancour
This event of lights called the Moonlight Lantern Festival was so much fun, and beautiful. Absolutely recommend going.

What a great location to visit to check out all kinds of different plants, animals and flowers. Relaxing to walk around the large grounds, and hard to believe this is in the Los Angeles area. Check it out!

Augie Besa
We went on a night that it was supposed to rain, but it didn't and so we were treated to a truly magical show.

Andrew Lopez
Beautiful place with plenty of things to look at. Highly recommend coming during the spring or summer when everything is blooming
Vee Sainz
Amazing! Super friendly peacocks. The Arboretum is so tranquil and fresh; music was perfect. Great way to end the week. :)
Avijit Nayek
It is a great place to visit. You can walk, sit and enjoy. They have many different kind of trees; and collection is really good.
You will get a green land within LA. You can see many peacocks. Sometime they give pose to take a picture with you. :) However, for that you have to be luck. You may chose a cloudy day to get this experience.
You can find different kind of roses there. You can find a waterfall there. It is nice to sit and take picture there.
It is good amount of walk. If you can not work, I think they have bus or tram tour.
In summery, if you have sometime and want to be close to nature, it is a very good place to visit.
JoAnn Han
Great place to take your family for a nice walk through its 127-acre botanical garden and historical site. Located in the city of Arcadia, California right across from the Santa Anita Westfield Mall. Adult admission fee is $9, children ages 5-12 is $4, and children under 5 is free. Whether it's a day pass or full year admission that your paying, it is well worth the price to help maintain this beautiful botanical garden.
Eugenia Jimenez
Its a beautiful yet relaxing place to visit. Kid friendly
FairytaleFilmmaker
This is an incredible display of artistic lighted figures. I was especially impressed with the Tera cotta army display since I'll never get to see the real one in China. There were so many wonderful photo spots. Worth every penny and parking is pretty easy if you can be patient with the crowds.
Eric SC Chan
A nice place that you can't miss.
Mary van der Eb
It was amazing. We had such a great time. We felt like kids again. The Moonlight Lantern Festival.
Shelby Barone (OC Moms)
I don’t know how I never knew this beautiful place existed until now. I recently went here for an event for the DVD release of Christopher Robin where I had a private lunch in the garden with Jim Cummings. This place is an instagrammers paradise!! There are so many trails, beautiful flowers/trees and photo opportunities. I can’t want to bring my children back to walk around and have a picnic lunch in the park. I recommend allowing enough time to spend most of the afternoon enjoying the beauty of this hidden gem in LA!
Ryan Larson
Beautiful trails and water features. One of the best botanical gardens.
Nadine Morrison
Beautiful gardens, birds and ponds. A serene atmosphere for a walk or find a quiet shaded bench area to take time for your devotional. All of creation sings!
Ariston Collander
Great place for an afternoon stroll, especially while they prep for the Moonlight Festival.
Allen JR
Amazing hidden GEM right here in the middle of civilization.
Peacocks walking around and fanning their feathers all over the parking lot. Something beautiful right here in Arcadia.
Take your lunch break by the pool and enjoy this beautiful and serene place. You don't even have to pay admission to start enjoying the park.
Buy the yearly pass and visit often. It'll be one of the best things you do to reduce your stress levels.
Frank Lopez
I fell in love with this place because I got to see nature and also is the most beautiful place that I've seen
AC (Arielle)
Beautiful place, some of the indoor gardens were closed due to maintenance and covid restrictions. It didn't take away from the experience. It's great for exercise and being close to nature.
Karen Ruiz
This place is nice to walk through, there's a variety of plants from outside the USA.
Peacocks just roaming free.
Alisha Hare
Beautiful place to go with the family...

~Experience~
I go here to walk around and enjoy the scenery. There are gardens, landscapes, and ponds. I've seen turtles, rabbits, squirrels, ducks, and the beautiful peacocks! A lot of people take pictures and you'll see professional photographers too. They also have different events such as walks, workshops, and shows, etc. My daughter took an art class here and she enjoyed it. They also have a gift shop in the front that sells snacks, plants, candles, toys, books, jewelry, peacock feathers, etc.
~Food~
There is a Peacock Cafe that serves drinks, salads, sandwiches, burgers, and soups etc. You can enjoy the food at the indoor and outdoor seating. At our recent visit, in the middle of our walk, there was a cart selling ice creams; my daughter got a drumstick.
~Notes~
-Price: Adult $9.00 - Students (with ID)/Seniors $6.00 - Children (5-12) $4.00 under 5 free

Had so much fun at the arboretum. Wasn’t expecting it to be so large. Saw lots of beautiful things I had never seen before and the peacocks made it so memorable
Jimmy Anh Truong
The best of light shows at this place. It’s called Moonlight Festival in Arcadia California. It was so beautiful and very colorful of lights . The night was right for taking family out for a walk and enjoy the night. It would be a perfect time to get away from hectic daily life and too much politics during this election cycle . Too many people were out tonight for this festival. Everywhere to go , people were just ooh and ahh when they saw these design of lights. For me it was a real treated , I can hardly wait to see the next one next year .
Cat Lover
Was very nice had waterfalls and was clean and had peacock's walking around.
Michael Douglas
Beautiful light show, planning another trip during the Christmas season.
Lily Dawis
"There are so many natural wonders in the world, so blessed when we could turn to nature to play and learn a thing or two... " #LDfinds #LilyDawis
Been fascinated with peacocks, the beautiful males, the relatively plain females, their mysterious ways of jumping high, squawking and strutting their feathers. There were so many in this vast arboretum, casually resting or strolling about everywhere, perched on branches, rooftops. Aside from peacocks can see a few wonderful buildings and barn. Saw signs that there may be sightings of bobcats and foxes too so best be aware and wear sports shoes.
Must visit factor: ☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️
Silvia Hernandez

Beautiful place to spend the day
Karin Haspell
Lovely place for an afternoon stroll. The place is pretty large, so you probably won't see it all. Depending on what time of year you visit, you will see different things in bloom. The peacocks were really strutting their stuff on our visit in March. Great escape from the city.
Gina Flores
GOOD place if u love nature
Norma Cardenas
Great place. I attended an evening performance of the Pasadena Pop Orchestra featuring the Beatles music. We arrived early and parked across the street to take the shuttle-totally free and very easy. Once inside, you pick your place on the grass. Or you can purchase a table closer to the stage. We brought our own chairs and blankets and brought a picnic dinner and snacks. The venue offered a couple of food trucks. Or food can be purchased at a couple of restaurants located across the street. No problem hearing the concert wherever you sit. I highly recommend this to anyone. They provide different kinds of music....on different weekends. Worth checking out. Only during the summer months.
During the day....this place is great if you like being outside. Lots to see in nature and lots of walking .
Leanna Dawn
If you visit make sure you put bug repellent on..the pond is green and mucky I got chewed up by mosquitoes...
Jazz Shademan
I love the arboretum and I loved what they did this year! All the lanterns and lights were so beautiful. It was very cold in the garden, but at least they had kiosks with got drinks- that helped! Also the parking situation wasn't that bad, even though it was very busy. Everything was well organized. 👍 …

Cheryl Lee
I never tire of the beauty of nature featured at the Arboretum. It's a new adventure each time.
Teri Bocko
It’s a tremendous collection and well maintained. The worst part is you still cannot walk up and buy a ticket like before. I wanted to visit the gardens to escape technology and disconnect. Having me step to the side and have to use my phone to purchase on non peak days is insane. It makes zero sense and is really annoying. Please bring back selling tickets at the gate.
Adlaremse Ollitsac
Always chose this place for my photo shoots. Its calm, relaxing and beautiful scenary- Credits to photographer 🌟 @creation_is_key …
James Hill
Couldn't ask for anything better. Lovely place for peace, and quiet time. Summer events are a blast, parking is great, staff is awesome, restrooms located throughout the park. "Known for photography"
Evgeniy R
Very good park. Peacock walk around you. Interesting trees. Beautiful place.
Janelle C.
A smaller version of the Huntington Library but with peacocks. Took about 3 hours to explore the whole place and there are a ton of smaller trails to follow. They hold concerts here and tickets are pretty cheap.
Eddie Shahverdian
I love it. I just hope my side kick or my owner will be here next time.
Dana Dorn
We love the arboretum! Can't wait to come back with our kids!

This is a beautiful place to take the family to. It's a lot of walking but it's worth it for getting the kids to do some physical activity.
Chen Lisa
The park has a café, offer many services, and the petcocks are always fun to watch (can be a little noisy once the thrill is gone haha).
Love it even more with the moonlight lantern festival! Well designed event takes you through the entire park with creative lanterns. Very thoughtful - extra parking at the race track area, food trucks, bathrooms and trash can everywhere, service car and adequate man power throughout the park and parking area. Very impressive!
I would suggest to come before dawn to experience both the daytime and night time view (and avoid the extra 20-30 minutes on transportation for the night event. Still, totally worth the it!).
This park normally doesn't open after dark.
VINCENT CHOW
$5 tram ride worth the price, 45 mins ride to see all the good stuff about the park.
Mary m
Fun, colorful. We had a nice evening.
Dana Branch
We went to the moon lantern festival at the arboretum and it was fantastic! Of all the holiday light events in the area this is by far the best. Be sure to dress for the weather as it will easily take 2+ hours to see everything but it is a great experience for all ages
Issack Ozaeta
I would suggest going on an overcast or cloudy day as there is very little shade. Lots of different plants and flowers to see. Enjoyed the time we spent here which was about 3 hours.

It was Beautiful all the colors and Amazing creation it was Nice cold out there everybody got along good I have never seen nothing like this 😊😊👍🏽👍🏽 …
Sylvester Lacy
Just wanted to take the kids somewhere natural and cerebral. The were displaying the winners from the Rose Competition. And of course the peacocks were out in force! There was like a 70ft tree laying in the lagoon though and the water quality seemed sub-par. Plus the secondary turtle pond and attached stream were dry and not operating.
Samuil Daylis
Absolutely great! Moonlight Forest festival arts items dedicated to Chinese New year are astounding. Took more than three hundred pictures.
Jewel Tomasula
Gorgeous! We visited during the daytime on Christmas Eve. We enjoyed the gardens and saw an incredible diversity of plants including many flowers. The lanterns were fun to look at during the day, even though they are meant for night time viewing. Parking was free and easy, and the admission to the garden was affordable.
Jessica Langenfeld
This arboretum has a great variety of plants and trees that I have never seen from Asia and Australia. Lots of fragrant eucalyptus.

This trip to the Arboretum was an evening filled with food and sights. The Moonlight Forest is in town and covers the entire grounds. That is a huge exhibit which includes food trucks and fun light up gadgets and toys for the kids. Eventbrite has tickets; adults are $28 and children a couple bucks less. 2 times are available 5:30pm and 7pm.

Very nice place for nature lovers. Food not allowed inside the park. Restaurant is available inside the park. We can have our own food out side the park.
Renee Beanes
The L.A. Arboretum is great place to unwind. Enjoy a good stroll through mini trails or stay on the beaten path among many plant species. The peacocks show off their plumage in the spring. Twice a year you can take a tour through Lucky Baldwin's "Queen Anne Cottage" and visit the old train depot which is open on Tues., Wed. and Sundays of every week. Many amazing photo ops near ponds, a waterfall, beautiful plants, flowers, greenhouse, rose garden and more. Many movies, tv shows and commercials have been shot here through the decades! It is such a jewel with the beautiful San Gabriel Mountain range in the back ground.
Sienna Kim
Nice Moon light forest event

Just Amazing – plenty of things to see plus a cultural show!
We were there on a Friday for the Moonlight Forest Lantern Art Festival at Los Angeles Arboretum and the crowed was light. The lanterns were breathtaking. Some we huge – the Imperial Palace, and must have taken a lot of labor to build. The cultural show was cool with Chinese acrobats and traditional dances. Purchase your tickets online a wear comfortable shoes since there’s a lot of walking.
Lots of free parking, food trucks and gift shops.
Cristina Rivera
The Moonlight Forest was beautiful. My family loved it. A bit pricey but definitely a great experience!
liana ho
The Los Angeles County Arboretum is an awesome garden. Our family and friends has a great experience exploring the garden. The garden has many characteristics with flowers, trees, cactus, and bamboo. This is a peaceful garden. It's really nice to see how there were many peacocks living in the garden.
Abel Estrada
An absolutely amazing destination. There are so many different types of trees, plants, and there are peacocks and ducks all over the park. There is a lake and also a waterfall. There are many locations that are perfect for pictures...so make sure you take a camera and or have a full battery life on your cellphone because you will have many opportunities to take the perfect picture with your friends and or family. I spent the day, it was a good walk and there are plenty of benches in case you get tired. The park is maintained very clean and the staff is very friendly.
David Benavides
THE MOONLIGHT FOREST. The festival is great. There's also an acrobatics show. Parking could be a headache, there are shuttles running from the overflow parking areas, your best bet is to park at the Westfield mall parking lot closest to Baldwin. Parking is free. Shop around for discounts. It's a long loop to walk and it can get real cold so wear warm clothes. There's a lot to see. Enjoy.
Roni Baize
My children and I went today for our first visit. It was amazing. Perfect social distancing outing! Peacocks everywhere. Cafe had snacks, salads, sandwiches and drinks. It was around 80 degrees, but there were plenty of shaded areas to cool down. The property is well maintained and the staff is very friendly. For the garden to be right off the freeway it seemed like we were in the middle of nowhere. Plenty of places and spaces to explore and my children loved running around and not having to worry about being too close to others. The lake, ponds and waterfall were beautiful to say the least. The wildlife was such a pure example of nature’s beauty. Plenty of free parking. Out times tickets were for 12 and we stayed for about 4.5 hours, which was amazing with just me,my 4 year old and my 7 year old. We will definitely be back.
Maverick
As soon as you drive into the parking lot you realize you are there for a good time. Love how freely you can walk through the reserve and how peaceful it is.

A true arboretum (collection of trees). The Australian area due to its size gives you a sense of actually being in Australia.
jennifer b.
The arboretum is the best place to go for a walk. The Plumeria are beautiful!!
Vern Bauerle
This trip was like a return to paradise, not only for myself but our whole crew as well. I keep thinking of new reasons to return here. Just a few: awakening the childhood desire to learn new things, seeing dozens of things you never imagined existed, any questions you have about plants, trees, etc. find answers here from the experts other experts learned from, tv and movie locations from the lagoon where Tarzan fought to the death with a 10 foot crocodile to the Fantasy Island lacy white antebellum cottage and carriage house, close encounters with peacocks, where California history started, sparkling your desire to learn answers to questions that occur to you like popping corn kernals. Fun, awe, wonder around every turn, a great place for any and every age.
Jennifer Noh
Love going here with my active, adventurous two year old! It's very affordable and there are great membership deals. Right now the peacocks are quite active and are not shy around people so it's a great time to go. The place is well-maintained, clean and good number of restrooms. If you're a mom of young kids, go at around 10-10:30 to find parking in the front :) It's when the morning crowd is on their way out!
andromeda Gal
Took the new membership tour. The tour guide is a botanist. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Loved the peacocks.

The LA Arboretum is a stunning set of gardens and features to wander around in.
They've a huge variety of flora from across the globe, all curated by region of origin.
The prehistoric garden is a particular delight with its rainforest feel, and the Queen Anne cottage nestled in one corner.
The true highlight of the arboretum, though, must be the peacocks that roam wild across the gardens and, indeed, outside the confines too!
While the LA Arboretum pales in comparison to the nearby Huntington Gardens, its admission is far more reasonably priced ($9.00), and so is still worth your time.

Absolutely love this place. Large spacious open park with so many different plants to see. Each walking trail has a different theme from a different country. Cafe and gift shop available. Over 150 peacocks roam this park which is the highlight of the park. So peaceful. Water areas are nice and peaceful to sit by. Definitely a must see landmark.

A place of such fantastic beauty should not go unappreciated! From the calls of the wandering peacocks to the scents of the jasmine and orange blossoms, from the beautiful waterfalls to the tall bamboos and everything in between, this is a place to take it slow and enjoy the serenity. The staff is friendly, as well. Visit and support the Arboretum!

Such a beautiful walk to take with friends and family. So much too see. Beautiful gardens, plenty of rest benches , shade and direct sun paths. Wife and I loved it so much we purchased a 1 year membership. Kids will be here mid August and can't wait to take them.
