Reviews of Garfield Park Conservatory
Came across this place on a little adventure exploring the park. Entry was $3 which for the experience was 100% worth it. The Conservatory is absolutely beautiful filled with so many plants and a wonderful atmosphere, I sat down in front of the Koi Pond and just watched the fish going around it was so peaceful. If you ever want to get back to nature, or just go on a little adventure, I'd highly recommend checking out the Conservatory and Park!
Absolutely beautiful! Be sure to grab the Self-Guided Tour pamphlet at the admission counter. Species from around the world are in the temperature and humidity controlled conservatory. The Sunken Gardens boast seasonal flowers and many benches on which to sit and reflect. Blake's Garden is an adorable little children's garden presided over by resident chickens. The outdoor gardens are free, and admission to the Conservatory was $3 on the day I visited. Well worth the price of admission!
A friend told me about the bulb and flower show at the observatory. I just live right down the street so I decided to walk down there and take a look at the spring flowers. I paid $5 to get in the door, and as soon as I walked in, the smell of spring flowers delighted and excited me! The flowers were set up so beautifully and they were so healthy and beautifully colored!!! I am looking forward to planting the flowers this year! There were also plants and bulbs for sale at reasonable prices and the staff was very knowledgeable about what type of flowers they had planted and what they had to offer.... It really feels like the people at the observatory really want to be there and help their customers, and I would recommend any observatory activity to all of my friends!
Beautiful greenhouse! Cost $3 to get in. Bathroom available. Many water features and sculptures throughout. Great variety of plants. The outside venue was under construction so it was underwhelming
Beautiful place to visit! I can't believe it took me 3 years of living in Indy as a plant lover to check it out. They've really done a great job of packing so much into a smaller conservatory.
Worth a visit to the nature. Beautifully maintained. Though one can visit all year along as its temperature controlled, the Spring setup was amazing. Great place to bring kids.
It was a really good experience! The plants were well labeled, and the staff was kind and friendly. I wish it were larger, but it's a 5 Stars for what it is! Attached are some photos I got while there.
This is a great little conservatory to view some lovely exotic trees and flowers.
Next Friday is their Christmas opening - where all the trees will be all a glow.
Price is $3.00 per person and lots of benches inside to sit and listen to the water features and watch the fish.
Indiana winters can be cold & brutal, but Garfield Park was a wonderful escape! We walked in, took off our winter coats, and enjoyed a beautiful & festive Christmas display. The trains & village were so cool and the flowers, trees, etc were just wonderful!
$3.00 to get in and it’s beautiful. I think it would be especially wonderful to go to in the winter when you need a small break from the cold. Perfect for just sort of meandering around.
A small, but cozy and well planned out conservatory, it was well worth the $5 admission. My daughter and I had a lot of fun doing the Christmas scavenger hunt. The plants were beautifully arranged.
This conservatory is an absolute gem. The $2 entry fee is very cheap, and any plant or flower lover could easily spend an hour in here. They have a wide variety of exotic plants, some 80 years old or more. They cycle through dozens of orchids as they flower, so there's always something a little different. Most plants are labeled clearly, and the self-guided tour pamphlet gives you a little more info on highlighted plants.
Absolutely beautiful, over 100 different species of plants that are very well maintained. Relaxing music playing in the background and koi fish with a water fall. I felt at peace after leaving that lingered for the entire day. Enjoy!
Definitely worth the $3 admission fee! Had soo many different types of plants, I was amazed everywhere I looked. There's plenty of shade so you won't be too hot and plenty of places to sit in case you get tired.
My favorite conservatory -chicago Garfield park conservatory-so far, it's free of charge, but reservation will be needed!
They have tropical 🍹, desert 🏜️, fern, children and outdoor gardens.
Plants are nicely arranged not like some small conservatoris who have to plant them so tight together.
I love succulents ( follow up my YouTube channel: the way to succulents, if you are a succulent fans too). So it's a must stop at Chicago
What a beautiful place! Well kept and plants are in great shape. We loved the exterior spaces as well! There is even a kids garden with a sensory experience! I'd gladly go back.
My late mother would have fell madly in love with this breathtaking conservatory! We were shortly transported into an ethereal greenhouse. One could instantly feel the stress melt away. The sunken garden made me feel like I took a trip to an English courtyard from a period piece as it was well manicured with a beautiful fountain squared and centered.
I love this conservatory. We’ve been coming here for years and it never disappoints. My only complaint is I wish it were bigger. But overall it’s definitely a nice little gem in Indianapolis.
Peaceful and educational! An explosion of floral color and variety. Lots of places to just sit and absorb.
Beautiful park with nicely manicured flower beds. The conservatory is definitely worth the $3 admission fee.
Very beautiful. Wasn't very crowded even during October fest.
What a lovely conservatory. They had a great presentation on captive animals and how they take care of them. Educational and fun!
We went to see the Mupindiko & Benhura sculpture exhibit in the sunken garden. It was a gorgeous way to display such beautiful art. An added bonus was being able to talk with the artist on the grounds.
I really like to visit the conservatory in winter to let my glasses fog up and pretend I’m in a tropical climate. It’s very reasonably priced and a great visit with family.
Nice place to learn about plants ! Feels like an oasis .
Highly recommend paying the $2 to go inside the conservatory. Well laid out and beautiful selection of plants from all over the world.
Excellent Conservatory, nicely laid out and a good walk around. Entry price is fair too.
Beautiful plants. Great displays
The conservatory is always such a peaceful place. The day I visited there was an African art exhibit where selected pieces were placed among the the foliage. Because there were several events happening on the grounds parking was limited.
We serve our homeless friends on the street a hot meal every Saturday night in the park. We make sure they have blankets tents and things to keep them warm and dry. Please join hearts in hand homeless outreach group on Facebook for more details.
We had such a lovely trip to the conservatory!
One of the most amazing somewhat hidden treasures of Indy, if you haven’t been your truly missing out.
Amazing place with such unique and diverse flowers, plants, and trees. And at only $2 per person, it's an incredible value. While it may not be the largest conservatory, we ended up spending a good hour walking through and taking in all the sights. I also felt very safe during this covid era as it was nice to see everyone wearing masks inside (which is required), one way traffic, and a cap on the maximum number of participants for a given time slot. I would highly recommend everyone checking out this place and I want to go back myself during different seasons to see what other plants might be in bloom at that time. And next time, take my macro lens for even better photography.
Very cute, smaller conservatory. A good variety of plants to take a look at. They had a gnome theme that was fun to find things hidden around.
Beautiful and exotic orchids! Register online. They are on Facebook. Limited capacity. Four dollar entrance fee per person. Parking is on the north side of the building.
Beautiful, has a huge variety of plants and things to look at. Absolutely would come back again. Gnome event was really cool and fun too!
I have been going here for about 7 years and it always brightens my spirits. Even at peak times it isn't very crowded. The prices are criminally low. It's a wonderful part of a historic Indianapolis neighborhood and maybe the crown jewel of the entire Garfield Park.
Beautiful space to spend some time during bad weather. Many beautiful plants, flowers and trees. Couple peaceful waterfalls to sit down for a break. Looking forward to going back and checking out the sunken garden when it’s warmer.
This was very lovely! Lots of beautiful tropical plants and for only $2 a person. I would go again. I love taking pictures of flowers!
HIGHLY recommend for tropical plant lovers. I've been to some of the top botanical gardens in the U.S. and very few have ANY area devoted to rainforest plants so this is definitely a unique experience!
Also recommend for tree lovers. This place has some really amazing ones.
Overall, definitely worth a visit and the price. Not a multi-hour long excursion (the space isnt huge), but a good place to go if you like plants and have a little time to kill.
Bonus: it's educational (they label many of the plants)
Pretty nice for such a limited size. Very relaxing. There are multiple koi ponds and water features, and relaxing classical music for the plants to listen to.
Great place to visit especially in the winter. Only $2.00 person. Currently you need to buy tickets ahead online.
As a wedding photographer, I couldn't recommend Garfield Park Conservatory enough for clients looking for a small intimate ceremony or elopement. My clients planned their wedding quickly from Florida, and the conservatory was quite helpful and responsive to them as they planned long distance in three weeks' time. Garfield Park was even willing to let us come an hour before their ceremony to capture their wedding portraits in the greenhouse, and with the perfect March day outside, we were able to capture some stunning photos outside on their property as well.
The conservatory provides that beautiful greenery feel, especially useful during the cooler months of the year in Indiana. While the space doesn't accommodate many guests, this couple's family gathered around the space and celebrated when these two became husband and wife.
Again, hands down this is a great venue for those looking for a small intimate setting for their wedding ceremony.
Small but compact. Plants are thriving and in bloom! Gorgeous moss covered waterfall with a lily pad koi pond. Ooo. Seems like it’s be a divine venue for a wedding.
Delightful place! So many cool and unusual plants...all in one place! Loved it!
A hidden gem! Cheap admission and a wonderful variety of plants. Take a tropical respite at this beautiful Conservatory. Don't forget to also visit the art center! Definitely my favorite park in Indianapolis!
Beautiful place. Have a variety of flower, fruits plants and trees. Also have a little water pond with colorful fishes.
Amazing oasis in Indianapolis, highly recommend visiting. Relatively small conservatory but has an amazing humid atmosphere, perfect for the middle of winter
small but fun conservatory. only $3 per person. great way to kill some time in the afternoon!
Absolutely beautiful place to enjoy warm tropical climate and see unique plants!
What a great fun exhibit! The kids and I had a great time trying to find everything on the scavenger hunt. We saw different gnomes everytime we were looking for something.
Beautiful place. Love spending the day here.
Great place to visit, very nicely laid out
Very pretty. I was not disappointed. Does not take long to get through, but you can take your time.
Great place! Love the plants
The main building is a lovely little tropical paradise. Most impressive were the Bird of Paradise plants flanking the indoor entrance. There are informational posters about the rainforests and conservation. My kids loved seeing the koi fish in the little pond.
The sunken garden was a bit boring for the kids. It's more of a garden for people who wear monocles and top hats and drink champagne with violins playing Boccherini in the background. The "Children's Garden" was a classroom garden that has been pretty much abandoned over the summer. I'm still glad we went, as the main attraction (the conservatory) was worth the donation price of $2 each.
Felt like i walked into another world. Very beautiful plants to see.
Garfield Park Conservatory is a wonderfully, warm and green oasis in an otherwise dreary and gloomy Indiana winter. It's lush tropical foliage provides a welcome respite from the drab leaf-less trees of central Indiana in the winter. Of course during the summer it's neat to see a variety of plants as well as their outdoor gardens. The conservancy has numerous programs for kids and adults. The admission price of $4 per person/$10 per family is well worth it for helping keep this living sanctuary around on those chilly winter days.
I have visited this park for 50 + years. I often get food from nearby restaurants, and my GF & I go and eat there. I don't really know why but it gives me a calming relaxing effect. I only go there during daylight hours & I truly feel safe there.
If I was to describe it I would say it's huge and a lot of trees and trails and lots of people walking dogs & riding bikes. Not many parks can compare to it because of it's many activities. Creeks run thru it, City streets too.
I haven't been in the new pool.It looks like a splash park. I did swim in the old pool, it's a parking lot now for the largest covered area in the park, where people gather for parties and reunion type stuff. It used to be a covered horseshoe game area.
The Sunken Gardens & Conservatory is the area I visit most. I recommend it if you like tropical plants & flowers I'm not sure if the banana tree, with bananas is still there or not but I thought that was cool & unique
Cool plants, inexpensive prices
Have a Children’s area and awesome sunken gardens.
Great place to do pictures.
Had a great time here while I was visiting Indianapolis
You guys have been on top of the aphids this year! Only saw a couple plants struggling from them this last visit.
Flowers are looking and smelling gorgeous. Koi are doing great too it seems
We walk through the Sunken Gardens … they were very nice. Also went to the Farmers Market.
Beautiful conservatory with lots of exotic tropical trees and flower. The admission was very reasonable as well.
This place was adorable! My niece's and I checked out the gnome scavenger hunt and we loved it! Everything was well ran and the scavenger hunt was engaging and fun. The girls loved finding the different gnomes and various items on the list and they were especially enthralled w the waterfall. One of them dropped her new toy there and we left out contact info and they called a few hours later when some nice ladies found it. Great place, will go back!
We were there for the last live music, beer and tenderloins. Great night out on a beautifully evening. Cannot wait for the season to start next year.
Good place to see a different kind of plants.
You have to buy a ticket $2 before you get in.
Nice relaxing place to be at. Beautiful plants and trees with ponds and small waterfall. It’s nice and warm even in the winter time. I wish it would be free for all to enjoy!
This small, but charming, exhibit is a delight to visit. The Christmas “Holiday Display” is a fun event for the entire family.
What an incredible collection of plants and flowers. For only $2 what a cheap price for seeing such a treasure. There is a huge amount of skill going into keeping this place so beautiful.
This was is small but mighty. The grounds are beautiful in the summer! The koi fish are beautiful as well
The GP conservatory is a great place to check out. As far as the playground equipment I nodded to, those are obviously not in the conservatory but are in the park, which is another great place to visit.
Peaceful, beautiful garden, koi swimming in pools among plants of all sorts . Been there over 50 years
Beautiful visit during the Tulip Show. Love the conservatory greenhouse and the sunken garden.
Wonderful offering of activities for the whole family. Farmers market, dance & art classes, pool, gardens, music & movies in the park...and many activities are free. If you live in Indy and haven't been to Garfield Park you should check it out. The conservatory costs only $2 per person and is full of beautiful rainforest plants.
You have to pay to see the plants inside the building, but the outside is free and so gorgeous! Definitely worth walking through with a loved one and/or pet. Great spot for pictures for prom, homecoming, birthdays, etc.
For only $2 it's a nice break in the middle of winter. Beautiful flowers. Not very big, so it won't take you long to get through.
Beautifully maintained observatory and gardens. I cant wait to see the Sunken Garden in full bloom!
Beautiful gardens and fish! Definitely worth your time and small entrance fee. The size and variety of plants is mind boggling. Additionally unlike many indoor tropical gardens (at least on a rainy day in April) it isn't so hot and humid that spending an extended period inside is intolerable.
LOVE this spot, such a beautiful place to visit even when the weather isn’t exactly perfect. I’d highly recommend coming here for a date!
For what it is, this place is absolutely gorgeous. I toured the outdoor gardens as the rainforest garden was closed. I ended up snapping a few photos of an absolutely stunning sunset.
Nice towards the end of the summer & fall when the flowers are in bloom, very green not much color in the spring time.
NO TRIPODS, whine, blah...
It's only $2 admission
Small but totally worth it. The conservatory is beautiful and we'll maintained.
Beautiful location and GREAT price (very affordable!) Gnome Away From Home exhibit is currently going on at the time of this review, and they do many other special themed events.
Great place to experience and get away you wouldn't believe what's in there in the middle of a park in Indiana
The park overall is wonderful! The playground itself is a little rundown and has a few parts that are broken. My daughter loves the sand pit, but it seemed to have a lot of mulch mixed in with the sand.
Such a pretty atmosphere I loved it went with my boyfriend
I actually went to the park to walk my furry buddy, but we did go by the observatory.
We love it here. It's close to home, there's always cool family friendly events and they're usually fairly inexpensive. Plus it's a beautiful place.
The plants and flowers are very interesting and nice to see. I'm sure upkeep isn't as easy as just watering everything though. However, part of beauty comes from within and seeing plants wilted or the baskets with plants that have outgrown them or the tall stems with giant leaves cracked and now dried up could have been prevented I think, or at least remedied soon for the sake of keeping it beautiful, not making me feel sad for these uncomfortable plants
A very interesting place, species well described and the visitors get equipped with a self-guide providing even more details. We loved it.
It is a beautiful and relaxing place I would highly recommend it.
We were here for a concert done by the pride of Indy bands. The venu is great with adequate seating available for all but a very large event. The surrounding area is a very nice spot and would be wonderful for a picnic or small family gathering.
Thank you so much for letting my pet honey bee "Beatrice" come to visit!! It's the best place in Indianapolis on a cold winter's day to visit!!
It's not too large though big enough. They have a beautiful array of flowers, trees, and other plants. It's well worth the price of admission!
Not to be confused with the much bigger chicago conservatory of the same name, this is a nice place with a large variety of plants
Beautiful place, every time I go here I am absolutely taken by all the flowers and big leaves and plants. It is crazy to me that all these beautiful plants could be stored in indianapolis. This is a great place to go if those winter blues are kicking in.
Well maintained conservatory in the middle of the city? AND there chickens?! What's not to love
Lovely for only 3$. Very nice.
Love the variety of plants and the little koi ponds.
Absolutely beautiful.. you have to visit
The most darling conservatory. Entry is only a few bucks. They often do adorable events and decorate the garden for them.
There is a small area at the entrance where you can purchase a few plants for yourself.
I grew up in this side of town and this park and conservatory were a big part of my childhood. I have always loved this place and they have done a fantastic job of preserving it.
It is a nice, clean and quiet place to just have some private time on off hours and in the Fall especially when the shadows get longer and the Sun closer…definitely worth a visit.
Enjoyable greenhouse with wide variety of plants, trees, flowers. Has some nice water features and fish as well. Excellent retreat for the middle of winter blues, a warm way to get out of the house and enjoy sunshine.
Beauty around every corner, amazed I've never been before! Educational, entertaining, different, and relaxing! I'll be back!
Absolutely loved it. As did the 2 year old daughter. Great place to take a few family photos.
Amazing little spot. My girls and I really enjoyed it!
Great selection of plants. Like everyone else I wish it was bigger.
Beauty at its finest a must don't miss out on this experience.
Fern room is fantastic! So many types of ferns and cycads that have not changed evolutionary wise since the dinosaurs existed It's like stepping back in time several million years
What a beautiful place!!
The gnomes on spring break display was awesome!
The Bitanical gardens is a nice place to visit all year round.
The sunken garden with the water fountains is beautiful. But it isn't ready to see until late spring because of it being outside.
Peaceful and beautiful; my family and I love to visit here and all of Garfield Park area.
A small but nice conservatory with interesting plants, beautiful flowers and friendly personnel.
Nice place to visit.. been many times
Ohhhh😍😍😍😍
This place is where all my problems disappear
And new hope is born
When i come with my pets and my family—(wife) its amazing how simple and cool and beautiful this place can be, we mostly lay on the grass after an long walk so
Please come here and enjoy
Indys oldest park, a tiny oasis amid the harsh urban landscape
It's always quite elegant if you want to see some beauty in Indianapolis go there the do have days they are close to properly attend to the plants the staff is very knowledgeable about the plants
Beautiful place where my daughter-in-law had her baby shower
Great place to visit. Two dollar admission charge.
$2 to get in, beautiful tropical plants, educational, lovely all around!
Awesome place to visit in Indy!! It's still a treat to visit after all the years.
I discovered this gem while looking for things to do with a visiting family member. It was the perfect choice!
pretty little place. nice area to just get it and let the kids explore.
Relative large facility that is always a lovely and cozy place to wander around or sketch. There is a really small entrance fee and benches all around the conservatory.
Beautiful. We went at Christmas time and it had trains set up inside that went all around and beautiful greenery and flowers mainly poinsettias. Absolutely gorgeous
Incredible tropical greenhouse!
Beautiful park lots of parking and things to do.
A hidden gem in Indianapolis. A lush tropical greenhouse complete with koi fish and a waterfall and they host interesting events frequently.
Wide variety of tropical plants. Educational, great for kids and enthusiasts.
Visited for the gnome exhibit. Pretty small conservatory but with lots of plants packed in. The signs that are around provide info on the more popular or numerous plants you'll find. Wouldn't go again but nice one time visit. The walking trails outside were nice as well
This was a beautiful place. The $5.00 we paid to get in it was worth it. I loved it.
Visited for a couple of recent special events (Gnomes and Orchid Show), and both times, I enjoyed my visit in the conservatory. The plants are lovely, and a walk through the conservatory is really a nice oasis into a tropical paradise. It gets a bit toasty in the heat of summer, but the rest of the year, it is a pleasant retreat.
For the size, I thought it was great! There was a great variety of very interesting, tropical plants and trees. A good little place to visit, and you can also do some walking around the park outside on a nice day as well.
The sunken garden is beautiful. The bathrooms are closed for some reason.
Beautiful & peaceful environment.
The conservator and sunken gardens are an Indianapolis Treasure. Only thing missing is the old German bakery that used to be on Shelby.
Cool place to spend an hour or so and check out very cool plants especially in the colder months
Awesome place really good band playing and excellent weather.
A small but beautiful greenhouse of tropical plants.
Beautiful flowers. They have a brochure that has specific trees and flowers numbered 1 - 27. As you find them in the greenhouse it explains what they are and used for. Very educational as well as pretty.
Really a neat place for only $3 admission
Pretty nice place great for picnics
The conservatory is a cool little spot. It's not an all day event but is what you choose to make of it. Great for all ages. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I bring my 4 yr old and he loves it. Sometimes I bring my sketch book. It's very peaceful. They put on a beautiful display for the holidays. The sunken gardens outside are a great place to walk and take in the surroundings. Definitely a great way to experience some plant life from all over the world!
Decent place to relax but you see a lot of the plants they have on a daily basis in south Florida. So it doesn't have the same effect if you spend time in Florida but the atmosphere is definitely worth $2. My 3 critiques are plant repetition, koi and it has been here way too long to still be that small.
I went here yesterday and it was a very nice experience! The displays they had put together of the gnomes were really cute and clearly had a lot of thought put into them. The plants were beautiful and it was a nice escape from the cold dreary day outside. Even though it was cloudy outside it still seemed bright inside the building. I also really loved the incorporation of water into the displays!
Friendly staff and cool plants. Be sure to smell the lemon geranium
It's beautiful. I love the beautiful plants and fish. Peaceful
Had Family Fun enough space for all types of Events
I recommend Family Fun Time Here at Garfield Park
Beautiful collection, very well maintained
A beautiful greenhouse/botanical garden.
I'm unsure how much it was to get in, as my sister paid the way but I am sure it is under $5.00. It is a brilliant place to visit with family or stop in by yourself to spend time with gorgeous plants. I love it.
The indoor portion of the conservatory is beautiful, and the open air space is so nice and peaceful. With the low admission price, it's worth the time to go here and check it out!
Such a beautiful and relaxing experience. Being a massive greenhouse I thought it was going to be baking hot inside but it was actually air conditioned. One of the coolest things they had was the plant that when you touch it, its leaves close up. Also a lot of beautiful flowers and koi fish.
One of my favorite places to visit in my neighborhood.
I especially like the Sunken Gardens and Blake's Garden
Gorgeous orchids, great place to visit in the winter. Would recommend for school-age children but not toddlers, as there are some rare plants that should not be touched. Something is always in bloom and you can smell if you don't touch. They have a cocoa tree that produces cocoa pods and vanilla orchids with real vanilla beans. Can attend workshops and classes on bonsai, gardening and horticulture. Great first or second date destination.
Garfield Park Conservatory is always a nice place to visit. The plants and the setting are beautifull, with holiday themes during the holidays. Its affordable, relaxing and kid friendly.
Great public gardens and conservatory. Take a stroll around the park, some pics in the sunken garden or better yet visit the xonservatory! Great in the winter when outdoor warmth and greenery are missed!
What an amazing place. My family and I went on a rainy Saturday afternoon. $2 a person to get in. They have a large variety of species that are present. It's beauty is remarkable. It also has an amazing waterfall where there is a bench so you can soak it in (pun intended). There is also a sunken garden, but we were unable to check it out because it was raining, but from what we could see it was also beautiful. Hidden Gem for sure.
I absolutely love this beautiful garden area.
Really liked this part of the park. The indoor area is nice in the winter time but it is a lot smaller than the Garfield Park one in Chicago. The outdoor gardens are free and offer lots of space to spread out and relax.
Lovely inside and we had a perfect day to walk around outside. I'm sure it will be beautiful outside too in the spring/summer.
Beautiful place to visit but hours are extremely inconsistent towards fall and winter. The sunken garden is still closed at noon on a Thursday. Seen multiple people hope to walk through but get turned away at the locked gate even though it says it opens at 10am. If hours were more consistent i would give 5stars
I wish that i would have visited the conservatory sooner. Among hundreds of species of flora, there are some truly beautiful trees. At a $2 entrance fee, its affordable. I wish it was bigger, but it is a gem to behold. Well-marked paths guide you through different species of trees cultivated from india, china, central america, south america, and beyond. I found the koi garden ponds to be quite inspiring. They are well stocked with colorful fish, large lilly pads, and plenty of inspiration to draw from. I wish it was bigger, but just having public access to the conservatory is appreciated.
What a park
They have a botanical garden with lot's of tropical plants! I just loved seeing! And library, & Swimming pool for the family !
Well worth the $2 admission, make sure you call ahead!
Great day to enjoy a fantastic park!
It was absolutely lovely, a gem of Indianapolis! If you plan to visit, remember it is quite humid in the conservatory, so dress accordingly. Also there are mosquitoes, so come prepared to leave with a few bites.
Always great time upon visiting here. Enjoy seeing new things. Love all the difference in collection of plant varied in the collections. Keep the good work
Beautiful botanical garden and conservatory. It was only $2 to get in and I spent around an hour here. It's a small garden but definitely worth the trip if you're in the area.
Cool place to go but alot of dirty people or ones who play games an steal
A peaceful and relaxing addition to any day. Outdoors feels like walking through an European Victorian garden, while indoors has a mini rainforest complete with waterfall and coy ponds. There is a nominal fee for the indoor part, but I always walk out renewed so its $2 well-spent in my book. The conservatory has also become very popular for small weddings, so if you're thinking that direction you'll want to schedule early.
This is one of my favorite places to go in Indianapolis. It's so beautiful.
Been walking my dogs for years there can't believe how they've let it rundown.
Beautiful, healthy plants. Ponds and fountains are clean. Landscape/arrangement of plants is Beautiful. I was in awe. Loved it!
Great place on cold winter days
Absolutely made our Daughter's Wedding picture perfect!!!! First day it reached 80 degrees so a little warm inside Conservatory but for a 15 minute Ceremony it wasn't unbearable. The view truly made up for it!!!! A very pretty Botanical Garden!!!
A beautiful Christmas experience that's got a lot of history behind it. I used to visit this place when I was 5 with my grandparents. Now I can take my kids here in the winter for the holiday eye-spy and tropical plants. Always a unique experience!
Pretty cool....while I'd prefer a visit in Spring for touring the outdoors, it was a nice mental vacation on a gloomy day.
Park and setting is beautiful. Fountain area so pretty. We didn't get inside as too on a Sunday. But will go back!!
The 2022 orchid show
Great experience that most people are unaware of. The conservatory is an amazing and refreshing place to visit, especially during the colder months of the year. It is a treasure of botanical delight.
This is an amazing part of Garfield park! It contains a vast array of sub-tropical and tropical plants, from grasses to massive trees. It has multiple ponds with different kinds of fish, along with a large waterfall. They have some tropical animals permanently there, and they also host things like reptile or amphibian exhibits on weekends from time to time. Outside they have the sunken gardens, with all kinds of beautiful flowers, fountains, and walkways completely enclosed by tall rod iron fencing. All for $2 per person.
I love the trees in Garfield Park and the conservatory. Soon the flowers will be blooming and the fountains will be on. It's beautifully maintained and it's my favorite place to walk.
This is such an underrated date location. We went here our of curiosity since I lived down the street from it and we really had a good time. They have plants from all over the world. They have birds that fly around in the building. And the fountain gardens are right outside, so you can enjoy the park as well.
Beautiful and lush all year round. There's some special fun in March when the Gnomes come to inhabit the Conservatory for a few weeks. Kids today were having a great time doing a scavenger hunt, searching for the different gnomes.
Absolutely beautiful. Cheap and friendly, and a good place to take the youngins.
The park itself has no issues. Quite a few fat squirrels begging for food, a running creek and a perfect place for walking a stroller.
I was thoroughly impressed with the variety of beautiful plants here. It's really humid and hot inside but I'm not complaining. That's what the plants need to survive. I want to build a small house in the middle and live there. 😄 …
Loved the arboretum!
Beautiful place,Love it❤️❤️
Nice place to walk threw. Beautiful.
We stopped for a picnic lunch and watched the fountains! Beautiful 😍 We have visited the Conservatory before! Breathtaking! …
Beautiful and well maintained both inside and out. The water features are quite enjoyable. A great place for a walk inside or out. The neighborhood is known for a bit of trouble, but the police patrol often.
If you luv plants u luv this place
Ghoulish Garfield haunted conservatory is always great! Even get me jumping or running by a couple of great scares!
I love riding lime scooties in the garden
Boy, the big glass house is so beautiful. It is really a special place. I have been here with my family in the month of April and May -- thanks to my enthusiastic mother -- and it is part of my favorite childhood memories. My mother gets smarter the more I look back at it. Beautiful place, do go.
Took my twins yesterday. They had so much fun. Its always clean and well maintenance..
Love coming here.
Christmas village was very beautiful
Love this place. Just what we needed on a gray overcast day, a feel of the islands.
The Sunken Garden is gorgeous inside and out!
I love going there to see how much the plants have grown. Plus, they're setting up for Christmas
Best place in town to melt away the winter blues with some warm, lush, tropical energy. At $2 a person, it's much cheaper than a Caribbean vacation.
Pretty lawn area with plenty of photo opportunities, there was a wedding party taking advantage of the colors when I was there. The inside of conservatory is very small though, so you'll likely spend most of your time walking around the lawn .
Fun time visiting the beautiful gardens today. We even found all 19 of the hidden flamingos!!
Beautiful park. We took a classroom of 3-4 year old kids. I would suggest (1) you take older kids maybe and (2) *pack bug spray*. They have the worst and biggest mosquitos I've ever seen in Indiana. The teachers seemed very happy with the trip, but I spent the entire time swatting bugs off of the kids.
Great place, but the indy parks website pdf map is old. Watch out! Visit the Conservatory park office and grab a new one or you won't be able to find specific shelters
Such a beautiful park. So well maintained with a gorgeous greenhouse, walking paths and gardens.
I liked it just crowded the day me and my wife went !!
Love Garfield Park, we drop off recycling here and they have a really nice family friendly pool...there is a play areas for the children, an affordable atrium, and a stunningly beautiful Sunken Garden.
Small but packed full! Train displays were very nice and there is a scavenger hunt. Christmas is a great time to visit, and it's only $4.00.
Flower and tulips 🌷 were beautiful. Great 👍to see after winter. …
Lovely but smaller than we were expecting! The grounds are probably a much better part of the attraction during the spring and summer.
Absolutely beautiful place me and my children love visiting here highly recommend
Well worth the $2 very cool little place with lot of exotic trees and plants wanna see bananas growing in indiana this is the place
Loved it, beautiful, diverse collections of plants, ponds and a waterfall.
We love Garfield park conservatory! Its amazing how the entire place can change even over a couple months. Very beautiful and inspiring. Always some cool plants at the front for sale.
Nice and clean and people actually have their dogs on a leash. People are friendly as well.
This is a hidden gem of indy. It's definitely worth a visit, and better than yet another coffee for a one on one meeting or conversation on the bench or in the chairs available inside.
Warm when it gets cool. Always beautiful and educational. Would be our destination for garden getaway.
Stopped here to eat my lunch, I'm pretty sure there is some weird stuff going on in the parking lot. It definitely doesn't feel safe.
Small but fascinating garden. Took us about 20 mins to walk through. Looking forward to seeing the outdoor summer garden later the year. Well worth a visit.
I love the gardens and waterfall. I especially enjoy the different art & display shows they have thru the year!
Attended an activity for 2 to 5 year olds and had a great time. Indoors at conservatory with snail story and craft and real snails and slugs. Also fed the koi! Outdoors with sand and slime and sidewalk chalk. Childrens' Garden is very nice too.
Sign up for their emails about their monthly programs.
We love this places for a nice break - $2 admission to explore the inside and enjoy the sunken garden - perfect for a picnic.
Loved this beautiful conservatory. I went during the "Gnomes Away From Home" event. Not only do you get to enjoy the beautiful plants, but they had gnome dioramas complete with a scavenger hunt to find various unique gnomes and items hidden throughout. Examples include "two bigfoots, a ninja, a checkered flag." $4 admission per person for that event. It was well put together, and I would happily go again. They have many other events, but this is the only one that I've been to so far. I know that they are having the Orchid Show on the 13th and 14th of April.
I thought it was beautiful and different
Love all the plants, really peaceful
I found 20 bucks right out side there lol was nice clean park far as I could tell just finished construction on bridge everything nice an clean. Plenty nice bike an walking paths.
Nice but pretty small. Can walk through in 20 minutes.
Sunken Garden was beautiful for Oktoberfest. Also got a chance to walk through their exotic plants conservatory! Amazing night!
Not as great a variety of plants and flowers as they used to have. Also. It is no longer free. Tells you how long it's been since I was there last. Brought a friend who had never been there before.
For someone who has lived in Indianapolis as long as I have, it is a shame that I didn’t visit earlier! This is a gem in Indiana! This place is great! The observatory is awesome but the park is large and friendly. The place has concerts, fountains, and it is a great place for pictures. This is an Indianapolis must see for both visitor and local alike.
This is the most beautifulest place over the flowers do the little great beds that run through with the little fish the birds recipe for place to be in beautiful highly recommend
I love the conservatory! Tons of exotic plants, a pet snake, Lillies, a waterfall... So beautiful, my favorite place to hide away and relax in the city.
A beautiful place to escape for a piece mind. And a getaway with your love. ❤️🌹 …
Superb!! The labeled greenery was informative. But the best part, & most fun, was the scavenger hunt for the gnomes. So many different gnome scenes,,,SO cool😁 …
One of my most favorite places on earth!
Take my kids there often to catch pokemon the night time guard is very friendly and always welcomes us. Alot of people goes around the time we do and we always meet someone new in our neighborhood
Love taking my 4 year old here take him all the time. Clean environment and they keep up on there park
Very nice garden but very minute. I cracked a joke that I expected it was almost a frisbee park and then two guys with frisbees came down the stairs into the garden literally within seconds. Edit* I should add I just visited the Chicago botanical garden in Glencoe so that may have jaded my view of this one.
This stop is well worth the $2 price of admission. Lots of beautiful exotic plants to behold, including unique flowers.
I love this park. I remember coming here as a kid, now I am bringing my kids. The Pagoda building and playground areas are wonderfully laid out and the Sunken Garden is breath taking.
This park Holds Some very important memories for me. Teen hang out to ride the trails with my son. Not know enough to comment on the Historical record of this Property but know in my HEART its special place. Enjoy Garfield park, one of the secret south side spots of Indianapolis, Indiana.
A hidden gem for Indy. Unique, cheap ($2/person) and a great place to see Green throughout the year.
Absolutely beautiful and peaceful. Good place for anyone that would like a nice place to do some outside yoga or meditation. Or even have a wedding haha
Went during the reptile and amphibian show. Kids loved it. Enjoyed walking amongst the plants and seeing the fish.

Can't wait to go back it was so beautiful. It was like being in the rainforest. My children loved it and so did I.
I was at the park for a CAGI "community action of greater Indianapolis"event, "Art in the park", it's a annual event, music festival, youth dancers, blues, & rap, singers, plus a comedian, awesome day of fun. Garfield park, Indianapolis Indiana

This place is a childhood favorite. Lots to do, very spacious, beautiful gardens, and a great Conservatory. There is a pool, playground, and a great date nite place for a picnic.
Great place for a walk around the sunken gardens.
Never been inside during normal operating hours, seen a little during special events hosted in gardens. Seems pretty nice from what I did see.
Sorry didn't take any pictures. Next time I go I will. The nicest place to visit and see all the wonderful plants.
They have plants from all over the world. Cheap entry fee. They also host orchid and bonsai shows which are really neat.
Nice park. Spring flowers are in bloom.
I think it always feels good to take a walk through the park. It's like it literally makes you feel better and you never know what kind of wildlife you will see from squrel to groundhogs

The Garfield Park Conservatory is beautifully kept, inside and out.
A great place to walk, explore, and enjoy nature!
Beautiful flowers.Indoor and out. And the fountains are nice on a hot day.
we loved finding all the things on the scavenger hunt
Little moments of beauty in nature. They work hard to guide visitors to behave appropriately and quickly clean up after those who don't.
Absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous 💓❤💓 …
Beautiful conservatory and garden. A hidden gem in Indianapolis. Peaceful and romantic. The Saturday farmers market in the park is also the best!
This is a gorgeous park!!

They've been really fixing this place up lately. There have been more police Patrols in plain clothes officers patrolling the park the past few weeks.
