Town Traveller
Tour guide is very knowledgeable about Hawaii's history. Interesting place to learn about the early missionaries of the island.

Fascinating place with the oldest building in Hawaii and very knowledgeable docents. Tour provides a lot of information about the missionaries and how they incorporated with the Hawaiian royalty.

Best fun looking around this site, we stayed there and let others find us. The team there even moved us around to see more

Enjoyed strolling the grounds of Museum, being transported back to a more peaceful way of being and time. Will definitely return to learn more with a tour. The gift shop is beautifully arranged with books and by local artists.. Simply Amazing, and i tell you what .. 'The North Shore Goodies' Original Chocolate Coconut Peanut Butter is absolutely delectable. Highly recommend grabbing a couple jars to take home. Will have to get the Banana MacNut Peanut Butter, next time!

Cool place with lots of history about the missionaries and their life in Hawaii. They have a printing press which was great for the kids and adults to see in action.
The old missionary house is the original house from the 1800s.
Camilo Menjivar
It is a fantastic historical place and host of the Hawaiian Shakespeare Festival.

Nice place to visit. Did not really have a chance to enjoy the tour / check out the gift shop as I have visited on Sunday when everything was closed.

Take a time to check out some of the historical buildings of Honolulu including the Mission Houses and old church.

This is a can't miss tour!
So normally I post quite a few photos while posting my reviews and try to write a "beginning to end" but we arrived at the gift shop unsure about the tour but th was one starting in 5 minutes and it was twelve dollars per person so we did it. Our group walked out and we in silence for a few steps and all went "holy s#&÷ that was awesome". We (mostly I) tried to trip up our guides with a plethora of off topic late- 1900's Hawai'i questions be he answered them like a boss! The history of the settlement is really worth hearing and I'd call it a must do tour.

Nice little piece of history here. Here’s a snippet - all of the lumber to build the main house was shipped from Boston Mass!

A beautiful location, knowledgeable tour guides, and a captivating history about the ABCFM's mission to bring the hope of the Gospel to the people of Hawaii. A few highlights you'll see are the oldest building still standing in Hawaii, Coral Stone buildings hand cut from the ocean floor, and original furnishings, plus so much more. A definite favorite for tours in Honolulu.

Lovely and very interesting to see the how missionaries lived so many years ago

Even the gift shop is an education! Ask for Diane. She knows pretty much everything! She's revamped the gift shop so that all the goods are made by Hawaii artists. Amazing & beautiful tile work can be purchased here, locally hand-made & terrific smelling soaps, and all goes to benefit the museum.

Had a nice tour of the historic buildings. The history of of the printing press was interesting as was the translation and printing of the bible into the Hawaiian language.
The gift shop was nice. Staff were very friendly.

Tour's good. Cafe's good (long wait during lunch time though). Make sure you check out the gift shop! Their price is lower than other museums like bishop etc

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the guided tour by Docent Rose Hansen
through the Mission House buildings on the Kamaaina discount Sat, even though the weather was very rainy. Her attention to detail in sharing the history of the early missionaries in Hawaii, their lifestyle and challenges throughout their time here, their artifacts, and the contributions and influences the missionaries made to our Hawaiian culture and history thru the printing press, music, fashion, construction, and of course in religion, were most enlightening, and even different from our early understandings. We highly recommend this tour, or even a revisit, to visitors and kamaaina alike. Mahalo to Curator Mike and Gift Shop assistant Grace for a very memorable experience.

My annual visit to their store in conjunction with the Mission Houses Craft fair. As usual, a great selection of books and gifts.

It was an excellent, hidden amidst century old missionary buildings in central Honolulu. Unquestionably private rederves. Sadly, closed now, a faded paper says closed now returning soon. I'm told it's been closed 6 months now. I truly hope that it returns. It was the coolest unknown spot in the middle of Honolulu.

Amazing artwork & historic dwellings to view. A cute gift shop to buy local art.

We had a great tour today led by the curator. He was very knowledgeable and sincere and you felt he loves what his work and it shows in his presentation. Thanks.

While visiting the Mission Houses, definitely stay for a bite at the Mission Social Hall and Cafe - "comfort food with a nod to history" is how it's described in Facebook. The service is efficient and the food is super ono (delicious)!
Susan Hashimoto
Lovely setting for the outdoor Shakespeare plays!
Laughing Tanuki
The cafe service is excellent and fast, the catch of the day BLT and the broccoli cream soup are ono.

This is the country within a country established by the earliest American missionaries, and it is also the base that later overthrew the Kingdom of Hawaii. Not much to see.

I thought it would be a great way to study Hawaiian quilts, so I went. I couldn't see the work because it was exhibited at an exhibition in Japan.
