We love coming here! Amazing baked goods! The best looking pumpkins. Great strawberry and apple picking. Everyone is always so friendly and very reasonably priced!

Thing the I love about this place is that it's local. I don't have to make a day trip. I bought Apple Cider, Apple Crisp, and Dutch Apple Pie. Just what I wanted without Traveling very far. So it is my local go to.

Great place to visit for local grown apple's and pumpkins. Nice friendly staff , good hours . They bake home made pies on site. Cash is a great idea credit cards are accepted, but they do not make much money on them
They have an apple orchard you can pick your own apples and Granger off highway 141. Fun place to take the kids and let them learn to pick apples. Enjoy

Rustic pumpkin patch in the suburbs of Des Moines. Located off Meredith in Urbandale this Pumpkin Patch/Orchard is a rustic family-friendly location.
Lots of pumpkins and ghourds to choose from at reasonable prices. Indoors they sell honey, Carmel apples, pies, and jams. They also have a variety of mums to purchase. I wish they also offered Gatorade, water or other snacks for purchase as we got a little hungry and thirsty during our visit. It is in Des Moines though so obviously gas stations or stores are nearby.
For $15 our family of three visited the patch, took a hay ride behind the tractor to tour their acreage. If I had to guess the property is probably 15-20 acres, but that’s a bad guess and not from looking it up. The tour drives past their back yard setup of things to do and around the edge of the property. We waited maybe 10-20 minutes for the tractor, then rode it for roughly 5-10 minutes. It dropped us off by the kids stuff. The kids stuff is:
- a DIY corn pool inside hay bales
- A bouncy blow up
- slides mounted to hay bales
- giant LEGOs
- tires laid on the ground
For the money we had fun but would prefer to visit other patches nearby. The orchard is beautiful located in a residential area but everything looks like it needs tlc and just wish they had more things to buy in the store. Check it out for yourself. Everything is free except the kids area and hay ride.

I love this place so much! My family have been going every since we were kids. I remember the place being slightly run down with kittens everywhere, but it's changed over the years. So much new exciting things from donuts to tubs of carmel (fall season) or strawberry picking (early summer) and the sunflower patch (summer) I come year round for apples and that darn Dutch apple pie (to die for) I've ordered pies during Thanksgiving as well and their process is very smooth. Highly RECOMMEND!!

We went here because we wanted to go to a smaller pumpkin patch that we didn’t have to pay to get into. It was free and they had a good amount of large pumpkins out to pick from in the yard and then they had big boxes of gourds, white pumpkins, pie pumpkins, and some of the little $1 mini pumpkins. They had a tractor ride that takes you over to another area but we were not sure if it cost money so we didn’t do it so I am not sure what it takes you to. You weigh your large pumpkin outside and then they hold it for you and give you a slip to take inside where you pay. You take the smaller pumpkins inside with you and give them your slip for your big pumpkin and you pay for them all together. They also have TONS of pies. Some are refrigerated and some are sitting out. We got an apple pie with crumble topping and it is delicious. I will definitely be going back to get more pies. They also have caramel apples, apple cider (with free samples), bags of apples from their orchard (kids can sample a golden delicious apple), apple cider donuts, and jars of different things like apple butter (I didn’t take time to look at all of the jars). They accept both cash and card but they prefer cash since they are a small local business and cards take a few, so bring cash! We bought apple pie, apple cider donuts, caramel some, a small bag of golden delicious apples, and sampled the cider. Everything is delicious and made there. The employees were all very kind. It was an enjoyable experience and will definitely going back again!

Stopped by recently and bought a fresh tart cherry pie. Best Cherry pie we had had and that is saying something as I come from a long line of wonderful country cooks from Great Grandma to Mom.
Amanda Jahnke
Darling little orchard. Cost to go through to pick a pumpkin is free and a small fee for rides and activities. They also have really good pies!
Margaret Kessler
Ordered pies for Thanksgiving and these were delicious just like grandma use to bake. The staff was very helpful plus fudge and caramel apples.
Natalie Gard
Been going here for years they have the best pies and apples ever! Also such kind and helpful people
Kindra Wilson
Best Dutch apple crump pie ever! Very friendly service. Delicious ciders. Lots of apples and desserts
Maggie
Very friendly, good information, answered our questions, gave us advice on how to get apples to last in the fridge. Fresh donuts mmmmm.
Nate Tieszen
Was a great time for our 3 year old. Loved the fresh baked goods and everything in the little shop
Kennedy G
Love this place, they make the ciders and pies in house each day. Best pie I've ever had
Michael Landon
The store is great, but the playground area has been going downhill for the last couple of years.

SHOP LOCAL! If you come here, bring cash! Help the small guys out so they can avoid fees. Be kind, pay it forward. Amazing pies, GREAT Cider! It's good, always buy more then 1 gallon 😉 and of course, the Apple pie is what you go for but they do have some good fudge. Check it out!! …

They seemed to have more pumpkins last year. We went again a couple of days ago and for a pumpkin patch I felt they were lacking pumpkins...what they did have was overpriced. $5 per adult and child for the tractor ride and activities seems pricey when my unlimited pass at another orchard that has a TON more to do is only a few more bucks for a whole season. We went inside the store and it smelled great but I found it gross how most of the pies had the lid off and were just sitting there with tons of people walking around/touching them. Will try again next year hopefully it'll be better at least get the pumpkin patch to look like a place you want to take pictures at. Also it's be great if you could be more inclusive to people with food allergies - vegan, gluten free etc. would be nice to be able to buy at least one item (properly packaged of course)

My kids had the best time. Staff was really friendly and the apple pie was divine.
Chris Morse
Had a great time with my youngest kiddo here for a school trip. Awesome apples, cider, and PIES!!!
Al Howarth
Love Iowa Orchard. They have the best cider and fruit pies on Iowa. Super friendly service is the bonus. Don't judge this book by it's cover. Go inside and get lots of food. Buy some cider donuts and try to eat just one.
Jorge Padilla
You think your Granny makes the best pies in the whole wide world? well sorry to break it to ya, but these guys do. Best pies in town for sure! Getting 3 for Thanksgiving.
Darrell Ledbetter
We expected a large commercial building, but was thrilled to find a quaint little shop. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The Apple Cider doughnuts and frozen Apple Cider drinks are delicious. The pies looked wonderful as well, but we had no way to transport them back to Oklahoma Maybe next time!!
Daniel Walker
I really like there pumpkins they were so big and a a far price. My friend really love their apple cider. I also got a cute little pumpkin which was cool.
Tim Schroeder
Apple trees are gone for this year but they have a new orchard growing. The play area is great for younger kids. Apple pie and caramel apples are very tasty and worth the trip by themselves. Great family operated business.
Katie Mulera
I like the honeycrisp apples at the orchard. They had bags to buy, $25 and $16 each. They also had other items to purchase, pie, juice, jelly/jam and other types of apples too. They asked if they could help me find anything when I walked inside and that was nice. They also have pumpkins outside too.
Marie Hertzlich
Cozy, charming little place I've been visiting every autumn for about a dozen years. Amazingly high quality products from cider to pies to their bags of apples. I will buy a peck of my favorite variety (Ida Red) and it will keep if stored the way they suggest until at least Xmas. So delicious!
Katie Hall
Very small, because it's so close to the city. They have enough of everything if you want to get a taste of a pumpkin patch/apple orchard. Their apple pie was delicious and we purchased a new kind of apple developed at ISU that was really tasty. Like that their staff seemed knowledgeable and was willing to help! We didn't try the caramel apples, but they looked AMAZING.

This small business is opportunity for Urbandale too.
A retired teacher had brought a new Resident in to choose a gift pie..
"A welcome to Urbandale pie.".
What a benevolent way to build community!
All of my questions were answered by the
Pie baker with patience and smile!
Made my purchases with ease and I will be returning..
Thank you

My favorite place to celebrate the arrival of Fall!
Don McCusker
Can't speak to all of the pies but I picked up a "special order" pecan pie last weekend. Still warm when I picked it up and SO VERY GOOD when I got into it later in the day. Awesome and highly recommended.

Seems they are replanting Summer of 2018 as more and more trees are getting cut down every time we pass by ... a sign out front would help customers know what is going on
Michael Anderson
Wonderful apple dishes. Try the cider!
Shelby-Lyn Lawton
..... It's great to have such a wonderful place right in the Des Moines area... Most of the time the pies are really really good ... However, I was going to call them, because the crust on the pies we got recently were so thin on the bottom they did not hold up to the pie filling .... I was disappointed, in all of the pies, due to this.( Especially the Dutch Crumb Apple, and the Cherry- these need a GOOD SOLID bottom crust )
A good pie has an appropriate bottom crust, not one so thin that it fell apart and would not stand up to the filling. This had not ever happened, so I'm sure that it was due to the Thanksgiving Holiday , however, .... I'm hoping that it isn't a recurring issue.
Max Kohn
They made exquisite pies!!
Melissa Kyler
friendly people, not overcrowded, fun tour of orchard on hay ride, kids loved the family fun area with tires, slides, hay maze, and corn pit. the pies, caramel apples, and jams looked delicious! cider samples were great!
Carole Hutchinson
Bought an unbaked pie and acorn squash. Put them in the oven this afternoon. Pie is excellent and squash was very fresh and cooked perfectly.
Kimberly Decamp
We come here every year. Close to home. Pumpkins 🎃 and apple 🍎 goodies including carmel apples and apple crisp. Donuts 🍩 and cider also 😋. …
Samantha Allen
There isn't a lot of stuff here to do... Plus its over priced... From the slide to the trampoline to the food in the bakery... You can get a lot of the same things at your local grocery store and it would be just as good. They do MAKE thwir own caramel for their caramel covered apples, but they are $5 for a caramel covered honeycrisp apple. The pies are also pretty pricey, frozen or baked.
Josh E.
I have fond memories going here as a young child. Back then it used to be on the edge of Des Moines but now their is an entire community surrounding this beautiful orchard. So yeah, they mainly have apples but a few other things as well. Definitely stop by if you've never been and check out their farmers' market stand downtown as well.
Kerry Isbell
Ha! My sister and I popped in for a DELICIOUS caramel apple. They are soooo good. The place smells awesome. Friendly, helpful staff.

Love this place! There pies are delicious! I would recommend the strawberry rhuburb, they also have a fall celebration, and hay rack ride which is a great outing for the kids.
Miss Queena
Apple pie had a pure and creamy filling that was naturally sweetened and my mouth felt refreshed with a gooey reminder of how fresh the pies are. Turned around 3 times because there was no sign or sandwich board on the curb.
Donna Garvey

The dumpiest building across from expensive homes, but delicious, assorted flavors of pies and other take-home goodies. Apples for sale as well as apple cider. Tasty jams for sale, too. Prices on everything are high. Guess people will pay for quality foods. The cherry crisp I had was delicious.
