This is an amazing venue to see a ballet. I haven’t been to the ballet in several years, this is hands-down one of the best venues to see a ballet. The building has an amazing decor, the seats are very comfortable, the acoustics are amazing and the staff are exceptional. I was very pleased with the show, orchestra and sets. This is the best ballet I’ve seen so far, and I’ve seen ballets at numerous venues around the country. I highly recommend this venue.

Slowly I am going to each of the venues in the performing arts district. In the Ellie Caulkins Opera House I saw Weird Al, so I was appropriately attired with a Hawaiian t-shirt. Inside was pretty and visually appealing. Acoustics seemed good as well.
Justin Hamblen
Lovely theatre experience. I’ve come her multiple times over the decades and it’s a wonderful high art theatre building apart of the great DCPA. Great building and infrastructure to support wonderful art, nice staff and great resident companies. I highly suggest a visit.
Robin
Lovely old theater. Gil's Colorado Ballet Company working hard to put out a quality product. Tradition of the Nutcracker every year is appreciated. New costumes and new set -and a new Sugar Plum Fairy

Went to see the Dracula ballet and it was so fun! Great acoustics and performers. It didn't get to hot or too chilly. Seats clearly labeled by number which makes them easy to find.
Lasalle Pinnock
Beautiful theater and our first Opera! We seen Carmen and enjoyed it very much! Only issue we had was it was very hot in theater at our seats. Made it uncomfortable and needed the AC or something on. Other that that the show was great and very nice theater!
Charissa P
Even from the rear row of box seats in the Loge, there was a good view. There was no air circulation though, it felt like 80-85 and humid. It was really uncomfortable. You could feel the drop in temperature every time you entered the hallway. The Ballet was wonderful, but the temperature ruined the experience a bit.

Great venue for a theater production. We saw The Nutcracker here tonight and loved it. We sat in the left side facing the stage loge seats. The view was about a B plus rating. You can definitely see the show and all the actors, etc. However, you aren't seeing facial reactions on the actors. For the budget minded person these are perfect seats. They are priced at $40 or $60 each. Definitely go see The Nutcracker. Well worth the cost! The view is from our seats.
Becca Algozzino
Enjoyed the show from the balcony! Pre order and pay for your intermission cocktails before the show starts because the lines are long!
Tatiana Cortes
Very nice venue!! Attended a two day event here. Seats were very comfortable. The inside is beautiful

Phenomenal music at opening weekend (9/16) with Jon Kimura on the piano performing a beautifully rendered (and incredibly fun!) rhapsody in blue! Also super glad that we found out that there are discounted prices for educators and students! It made the concert much more accessible.
Amy Stoehr
One of my favorite places to catch a show downtown! Love the balcony seating spacious and outstanding view!
Brandi Violetta
Awesome clean venue! Lots of options at the bar. Where ever you sit, you’ll be able to see for sure. Parking garage is also close and affordable.
Phat Matt
nice Performing Arts Center venue. we kept commenting that it looks like the Star Wars dome shaped building located in the heart of Coruscant's senate district is the home of the Galactic Senate chamber. you gotta see it for yourself.
david stewart
Just saw the nutcracker. The ballet is a sight to see, the dancing, costumes, music and sets were truly amazing!
Michael Victoroff
Good parking, easy location, friendly staff and ushers, excellent sound and acoustics for our show (Nutcracker). We sat in orchestra floor side boxes. Sight lines were just fine; had advantage over orchestra of a little higher view, closer than a lot of the higher priced seats. And, by higher I mean ridiculous. Fantastic, professional presentation, top notch dancers, design & choreography great for this show. Highest points.

Saw the Colorado Ballet's performance of Dracula and was delighted. The theater is very nice with fairly comfortable seating. It was as clean as could be expected considering that many people just don't have any respect and toss their garbage everywhere. The staff was polite, respectful and professional. Looking forward to returning again soon.

The Colorado Ballet is absolutely amazing!! This year's The Nutcracker was beautiful!!! The orchestra was emotion-evoking in a beautiful way as was the ballet!! Someday when I can afford it, I will have season tickets so not to miss a performance! The venue is wonderful as well. There isn't a bad seat at Ellie Caulkins Opera House! The seats are comfortable as well! I wish I had photos to share, but I don't this time.
Jeremiah Mahan
Great venue. The sound is amazing. The ballet leaves nothing to be desired. Really amazing!
Wade Adams
Beautiful Hall. The place to sit is in the balcony or loge as close to front and center as possible. That way you can see the whole set and into the orchestra pit. I also found the sound to be most agreeable there without an audience.
Michael Bergman
The venue is pretty decent. It's nice and modern.
Drink prices are outrageously high.
And they need better air circulation. We were all hot and sweaty the entire show.
Leslie McKinnon
Attended the Sensory Friendly performance of the Nutcracker. Holy COW! It was the first time my wife was able to really enjoy a ballet! I hope they offer this type of performance option for all they productions. So perfect for those on the spectrum, or with social anxiety challenges.
Thank you Colorado Ballet!!!
Jennifer Sandoval
Dracula was one of the greatest ballets I've ever seen! I brought my 9 year old niece (her first live performance) and she was so enthralled that she didn't want to leave her seat during the intermission because she was not going to miss a moment! The performers, the orchestra, the choir all absolutely honored this beloved tale! BRAVO!!
D Wall
The theater is so beautiful and the staff were helpful. Plenty of bars and bathrooms and even a gift shop. We saw the nutcracker ballet and it was very magical. I want to make it an every year tradition.
Alicia Bryant-Mayes
I love The Ellie! She remains beautifully maintained just as the beautiful arts she displays. Cleo Parker Robinson "Sacred Spaces" was incredible and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra was undeniably exceptional. Great night!
Sophia Zabel
Element entrance with several doors; Comfortable seating; no poles in the way of viewing; many ushers and concierges available for directions; clean bathrooms with close access.
Parking in the Denver Arts Complex Garage is the best choice for closeness to any venue with only the cost of $15.

Love seeing performances at Ellie Caulkins Opera House, particularly Colorado Ballet! Recommend trying to get seats in the first few rows of Parterre Seating for a cost effective but fantastic experience.
Keith Venable
Had our Christmas party at ECOH this past Friday, and it was FANTASTIC! Our contact there, Keith Truitt, the Dir. Of Catering & Events, was the best. He provided a level of service that I haven’t experienced since my days working for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company in the 80’s & 90’s. Keith anticipated all our needs, had great ideas to make our event spectacular, and was always willing to go above and beyond for us. His staff was also very helpful too; Joseph, Ben, and everyone really made our group feel special.
And the cuisine that Kevin Taylor’s culinary team provided… sooo good. They provided creative appetizers that I have never seen before and the entree selections, prepared perfectly. I got so many compliments from the attendees on everything; food, service, venue, etc.
If you are a meeting or party planner, and want to look like a hero to your group, call the Opera House. You will impressed.
David Shih
Every seat is a good seat. The subtitles for opera is a great feature. If you forget your tickets at home, can just pick up another at will call.
Reeve
Such a beautiful theater! Very spacious and modern inside! Everyone is absolutely helpful and friendly! The 3 floor bar had the best drinks and snacks including macaroons!! I was in the balcony on the third level and every seat has spectacular views! This is such an awesome theater and I had the best show experience I will absolutely be back!
k b
What a venue!!!! Not a bad seat in the house. That said, DCPA does not have enough parking to support their multiple venues. Arrive early and enjoy the local shops
David Riesch
Just saw The Nutcracker here! Wow, what an awesome performance. Highly recommend if you’ve never been here before. I love the Arts District in Denver.
Joe Riehl
Absolutely gorgeous theater. Our usher, Herman, was the best. We chatted; he went out of his way to make sure everything was in order.
Ian Hoyman
The Ellie Caulkins Opera House remains the foremost center for fine arts in the state of Colorado. The Ellie Caulkins is an oasis of elegance in an ocean of outdoorsy not-for-mes and North Face markup stores. Lovers of finery, look no further than Opera Colorado or Colorado Ballet!
Ryssa Sadusky
What a beautiful place to see a ballet! Was really busy but the staff got us right to our seats! Loved the event
Stacy Rhodes
Such a beautiful theater and an excellent show... Shen Yun. It was a phenomal 3d masterpiece, and the performers were above and beyond this world! Check it out; hopefully, it will be in your hometown soon!
Maria M
Beautiful and cozy theatre. I was in the Left Mezzanine and the seats were comfortable with a good view of the stage.
Kathryn “Katie” Olszowy
Attended the Nutcracker with my daughter, SIL, and MIL. Really lovely interior with friendly staff. Overall great experience.
Mark R.
Fantastic Nutcracker was amazing
Why can't people dress in more appropriate attire, jeans, sweatpants, no respect for the venue or themselves
Carol “happydaisy”
Beautiful venue. I've been here for opera, ballet, and concerts. All wonderful experiences.
Gayle Snook
All the seats we have had here have a great view of the stage. We go to the Nutcracker almost every year and have different seats every time.
Maria Fernanda Emme
Beautiful theater. Watched the Nutcracker here a few days ago. The Ballet was alright
Scott Lewis
Went to the ballet last night. Really cool performance, I’m new to that type of stuff (fine arts). The performers are so talented and athletic.
Unfortunately I probably will wait for the Covid stuff to be over before returning. To ask for proof of someone’s vaccine, then subsequently require masks during the whole event seemed really overboard. Everyone removes their masks while eating and drinking during intermission anyway. Maybe it’s just more symbolic than anything else.
Anyway, we had a nice time, and will maybe try the Arts again down the road, once they drop the Covid requirements.
Kentee Pasek
What a beautiful opera house. An old structure of the building on the outside and a sleek, comfortable inside. The seats are designed so there is not a bad seat in the place. For the Colorado Ballet, the seats closer to the stage shows the feet work and set detail but not the orchestra. Higher up you get the orchestra and the dancers and a wonderful view of the stage but little foot work detail. A delightful performing arts center. Well designed visually with great acoustics. Comfortable seats, easy viewing, nice bar and snack plate at intermission and a fun night.
Athena G M
Good venue. Great decor.
Not a bad view in the house.
Seats are small and not much leg room.
Sound is fabulous.
Sasha Stewart
Great auditorium, loved our time here! We will be back.
Carmel Collier
The acoustics are amazing! I love that it is just the right size to fit many people yet still feel comfortably small & intimate.
Mason Good-Turney
Beautiful location and place to see a ballet. Went here with students and had a wonderful time. Staff was helpful and patient with our middle and high schoolers.
Anne Robles
I'm very proud that Denver has continued it's appreciation for the fine arts throughout its long history as a state. This newest version of the Opera House is as beautiful as always.
Shingo S. Ishida
Came here on a Saturday night to watch the Denver opening of Frozen. Great venue to watch a live show or musical. Wish they had more elevators servicing the higher floors (mezzanine, balcony). The price was a bit astronomical for bottled water and time bags of popcorn, but I guess people have already eaten by the time the 730pm show begins.
Emily Yolo
Helpful ushers. Kind of wish I knew there ware bars on the other floors before waiting at the ground floor bar, but that's on me.
Lipsticks and Backpacks
Love the states outside! Botero is a famous Colombian artist and his “disproportionate” statues are SO adorable!
Peter Daniels
Nice venue. Rc12 upgraded because of low attendance. We had a good view of the production Sacred Places?
Mary Elizabeth Young
Great customer service. Beautiful building and accommodations.
Keith Vinzant
We bought orchestra seats and were disappointed with the view. Not much slant to the rows of seating so you get to see more of the person in front of you than the performance.
D.R. Hamblin
Amazing venue! Very modern and clean. No food in the auditorium but bar drinks are allowed 😈 …
Patricia Sommer
The opera house is gorgeous and The Wizard of Oz ballet was incredible! Wish the wine pours were a little more generous for the price.
Jason M
Great place to see a show. But lines to get a drink at intermission is crazy. Add more bartenders
Tyler B
We went and saw the Colorado Ballet performing the nutcracker. It was an amazing time!
Gave the 4 star because they require proof of vaccination to attend.
Robin Dickinson
We love attending ballet and opera here! Of course the artists are amazing. The scenes and costumes are gorgeous. The sets for the opera are completely over the top. And our ballet is now at the point of have five full performances a year, and even teamed up with two other ballets to bring about The Wizard of Oz, the most crazy, joyous ballet. We still love all the classics, but Oz is just what the world needs right now!
Bob H
Saw the Nutcracker. Great orchestra, dancers...
Staff was very helpful.
j a
Beautiful theater but the seats in the upper balcony are not comfortable. They are tiered very steeply (so you can see the stage), but as a result are very tall seats. The theater has foot rests in front of the seats, but they don't work for tall people like me - with my feet on the rest, my knees were uncomfortably higher than my hips... even being 6'5", I couldn't comfortably put my feet on the floor, either. It took a lot away from what should have been a very nice evening at the theater.
Adrienne Brown-Matthews
Went to see the Nutcracker for my wife's birthday and it was just beautiful! Love how there is a little screen in fron of your seat that helps you keep up with the story if you aren't familiar with the story. Great for kids and adults alike!
Ione Rajah
Went to see Dracula, gorgeous production and amazing sets and the ballet dancers we're unbelievable.
Brendan Burke
Google asked me to review this place. Saw Game Grumps live here and ot was awesome. Good space and could hear everything even sitting further back. Whether you have a good time or not probably depends on the event your going to but the staff and the atmosphere were excellent.
John East
Great experience, no complaints. My wife's first time to the ballet... she loved it!!!
JoDi Gove
Great night out. Thanks for supporting Colorado kids!!! Bobby G!!!
Brett Ohlen
Saw the nutcracker. Great event. If you have not seen it, you definitely need to!
Tara Waddle
We had an amazing time! Dracula was amazing
Diana Sanchez-Hughes
I Saw my second Ballet performance tonight at this Wonderful Theatre by The Colorado Ballet. The performance of "Serenade" and "Carmina Burana" along with the Choir and Soloists was amazing! The Theatre it's self is Beautiful! And very comfortable. The Staff are very accommodating. They have a place to purchase gifts and Concessions with a full bar and Coffee. Of course like all venues it can cost $4 for a bottle of water and even though there are very nice places to eat and a coffee shop right in front, they do not allow outside drinks and goodies. I recommend that you make a night of it! Go for Dinner on the 16th Street Mall ( a block or two away ) and then go see the Opera a Show or the Ballet at this Wonderful Ellie Caulkins Opera House Theatre.
Emily Herrin
Incredibly beautiful theater with helpful and kind staff. Award nice central downtown location. Seats are amazing, even the balcony has a good view. One of two theaters in the country that used the Figaro Seatback Subtitling System which gives cues of the plot for ballet and translates the operas. Parking, drinks and snacks are spendy but decent and lines are long. New security at door slows down entering just a tad but is efficient. Arrive early!!! Traffic, parking garage, and security all take time and there is no seating once the show starts. Go see ballet!!!
Taylor Ballard
I saw the Nutcracker ballet and it was amazing. The cast was flawless, the sets we're gorgeous, and the orchestra was impecable. The location makes it super easy to get to and it's surrounded by great hotels and places to eat if you're from out of town. Well worth the price of admission for a magical night. The photo is from my seat- 331
Erica Seegrist
Gorgeous intimate venue. Not a bad seat in house and the place is gorgeous. It def has Denver parking and traffic is horrible after concerts. Just plan for extra time.
Bella Michel
This is a beautiful venue. One of my favorites.
ajcmbatts09
Great views, comfortable seats, clean, easy to find seats, good auditory balance, convenient parking. Make sure you don't sit behind a pillar or equipment, there are a handful of those kind of seats on the sides. The upper floors have steep stairs, take care. All employees the past 2 times have been professional.
Katie Deichert
My daughter and I saw the Wizard of Oz and the show was beautifully done. If you’d like a drink or snack at intermission I would *highly* recommend reserving your order before the show at the bar closest to your seats. It’ll be waiting for you when you come out!
Matthew Thompson
Beautiful venue with excellent acoustics. This theater has great views from almost every seat. ECOH is our number one pick for theater or music events. Awesome place!!
Michael Lovato
Family and I went listen to Weird Al Yankovick .
Twins were thirty, oldest is forty, only child 35
And wife n I enjoyed 42 years together. Had never been to a concert. Not sure exactly what I expected.. Maybe, a mosh pit, groupies, ? None .. ir was more like watching Mikado or, Les Miserables.. enjoyable, great place for the event .
Desiree Kelly
What a fantastic venue! We had our annual awards gala for The National Association for Catering and Events (NACE). So fun and they even made up a signature cocktail just for our group. Thank you!!
Meagan Koenning
This was my first time at this venue as I'm from Texas. My brother and I came for the Ludovico Einaudi concert. It's a beautiful venue, and although prices for drinks are outrageous, it's not unusual to overcharge for products at venues like this. We really enjoyed our time there!
Rachel
Literally the best ballet I've ever seen. Had an awesome time watching the wizard of oz tonight. The choreography, the set props, the dancers, everything was awesome. I'd highly recommend this place, and will definitely be back again!
Stacy Oh
Great venue for any event.
Regina Vasquez
Had an absolute blast seeing Dracula! Great venue! Really helpful staff
Amber Tipton
Amazing! Other then the small seats and crowded theater. Especially during covid. This poor old lady was next to me coughing up a storm. Plus our kiosk was broken. The show however was amazing! The acting was good. The Shinning was my first Opera! I wanna go back. Also, they have a bar and water. But no alcohol was aloud in the theater. Bring your mask and covid info. They do require it. Have fun!!!
Lady Jane
Had a great time at the RUPAUL’S Drag Race WorqtheWorld!!!! Thank you so so much!!! Can’t wait for Rocky Mountain Horror 🥰🥰🥰🥰 …
Monica Slusser
Saw the nutcracker here and highly impressed with the performance in addition to all of the attendants!
Kyle Odvody
Just about every seat in the house has a good view. Acoustics we're great. Show was just ok but I would definitely give it a try with another show. Pre-order your intermission cocktails, worth not having to wait in line and can relax a bit between acts.
L.A. D.
Romeo and Juliet was spectacular! Love the Colorado Ballet!!
Danielle
Beautiful building! Located in downtown area next to other performing art locations. The acoustics were great. And the Colorado Ballet's performance was exceptional.
Treyce Fugitt
Saw Beautiful; The Carole King story Live. Beautiful. The lights outside. The interior. Hands down, my favorite theater to see a show in. So far. Maybe something else I experience will top it. But this is the cherry on top for now.
LIZZY NC
The marriage of figaro was fantastic. Great sound and orchestra. Awful seats.
Brett B
Saw the ballet Wizard of Oz on 3/18/22. What joy!!! And the Opera House was beautiful as well.
Ross
Very nice venue. Beautiful fourier. Plenty of bathrooms. Very clean.
Brian Faulkner
Saw Rigoletto last night, very nice venu, great staff....parking suuuccckkkkeeeddddd.
Ed
Sitting on a high chair was kinda weird, but it's a nice venue.
The Woodmaster
It's a nice venue in a great downtown location with a lot of places around it for dinner and drinks. The staff was professional and polite. I only have two gripes. The first one is none of their doing, just a caution that you will need to get there PLENTY early just to find parking. There are some close parking garages, but it can get super busy depending on other events going on. Get there early, park, go get a drink or whatever, then go to the show. The second gripe is definitely something they could change. At the time of this review, they require you to provide proof of covid vaccination and then require you to wear a mask the whole time. I know people feel their own ways about this. Personally, I feel it's totally ridiculous at this point to do both.
Caylee Penka
Very beautiful theater and fantastic shows. I had the pleasure of watching The Nutcracker, it was amazing. I highly recommend watching something here.
jerry clower
This was my first time seeing ballet. The Nutcracker performance was wonderful. The music was excellent.
Due to covid everyone was required to be fully vaccinated and show their shot card as proof, along with a photo I'd. The opera house was beautiful. It is so easy to get to using light rail and the free shuttle bus. Light rail was $6.00 and that is less than the cost of driving, and no parking hassles. My girlfriend and I dressed Victorian and we were told how nice we looked. I suppose that being 73 and having a Victorian handlebar mustache along with a top hat helped. Definitely going again. I do believe that this country mouse is getting cultured.
Nicole Linne
The Shining... Best Opera I have ever seen! What an amazing show, the feelings and intensity far outweighed the Jack Nicholson version. The orchestra was such a big part of the creepy! The stage made it all work!! My 11 year old twins are now fans of opera!! What??? Thank you 🥰 …
Joseph Ayala
Had a great time! The usher that showed us to our seats was very informative and very professional!
Linda Gadarowski
Went to see the shining. Great fun after a long time not being able to go. The boy that plays Danny needs to be younger...or they need to stop treating him like he's a 5 year old...no more picking him up like an airplane or jumping on the bed.
Shalom A. Esparza
The Opera House of Denver, beautiful seats and atmosphere, Super Sound resonance, Perfect for Plays and Graduations.
Aaron Chaleff
Overall a great theatre, but do NOT buy seats off to the side... They aren't pointed at the stage!
My neck ended up sore because I had to turn to look at the stage the entire time. Why are the seats pointed to the Orchestra seating?!
I've been in other theaters where even on the partial view seats you don't have that problem.
Christina Kolodziej
Beautiful, intimate venue. We saw Dracula, & loved it!
jennifer horn
Saw Giselle on opening night, it was amazing and beautiful. This is the second time I have been to this venue, and it was still a wonderful experience seeing a ballet this time. The first visit I saw an opera here and it was amazing. Definitely check them out. They have drinks, small plates, but the cost is a bit pricey, so heads up.
Sherill Higgins
Most wonderful experience!!! The seating could use some improvements though . We sat in the band section, I think it should have been pitched better, was difficult to see over others heads.
Tracy Doehler
Received tickets as a gift to see the Nutcracker December 3rd. Theater large in size, balcony type seats not for those afraid of heights.
Ana Bowers
The misinformation given to me by one of the waiters of the food stand ruined my night. When I asked him if I could take my food plates inside the teather he said yes, no problem. But that was a lie. At the door, they said no, that my options were either gobble it down or take it to the coat check room. If I would have been given the correct information, I would have bought just a snack to eat during the short intermission.
Robin Sterner Reddick
Saw Carole King's musical, Beautiful. Even in the balcony the staging and sound was fantastic! Such a good story and great music ~ well worth seeing!
Alysa Lombardi
The Colorado Ballet performed and it was a great show! Very comfortable seats. Still actively taking COVID precautions- wearing a mask and showing vaccine card, no drinks other than water inside seating area during performance. Understandable considering the vaccine rate though and many older folks attending.
Eve McFarland
Beautiful performance venue. Sold out performance of the nutcracker!
Adrienne Monetathchi
Beautiful venue with excellent excellent drinks and staff to help keep you organized. I saw the Nutcracker and was blown away by the grace and beauty of the dancers. Thank you so much for this amazing experience!
Matt
Beautiful venue, attended the Denver Film screenings here.
George “Porkchop” Valdez
Watched Shen Yun was great performance.
Scott Thompson
The nutcracker was great. I thought the performance was intriguing. The music was flawless. As a whole, very well performed.
Big Choppers
Dracula was amazing... It didn't seem like 2.5 hours long....will see again!
Alyson Montoya
Gorgeous theater and the nutcracker performance was fantastic
SwineFlu Rasta
Family day at the Opera was amazing. Ellie Caulkins is always great, but you can't beat family day for introducing the Opera to little ones.
rkm3o3 - Real Konscious Moovement
This is a great venue to catch fantastic ballets! I've taken dates there multiple times and have always had a great time! Definitely recommend. 🌹🌹🌹 …
Alex Kolafa
Excellent atmosphere and wonderful operas. The seats are very comfortable and the readers make it easy to follow the story and themes.
Gregg Schuder
Fabulous venue. Saw Carmen. Wonderful.
Shirley McNeff
We had an incredible dinner, every thing was delicious.
Bill Flores
Fortunate to have watched a magnificent rendition of the classic La Traviatta! Magnifico! Bravo!!
Cynthia Wisekal
First time visiting Ellie Caulkins Opera House and got to see & hear the opera, "Tosca". Absolutely beautiful interior with an intimate stage. Looking forward to seeing & hearing "Carmen" next Spring. If you haven't been here, put it on your list of places to visit when you are in Denver.
Muriel Tilton
Went to see an amazing show. Thank you Game Grumps. We had so much fun. Great staff too!
Claudia Felix
Beautiful Opera house. Amazingly managed!
Donna Eastman (Valazen)
I love going there. It is easy to get to, easy to park, the drinks are reasonably priced. The space is very welcoming. Nothing takes away from the opera itself, which has always been great.
Melissa Sweet
Great show. Professional staff, very helpful.
Jade Ca
The lines were very long if you were on the mezz or the top floor.
Lauren Carr
Nice venue. I feel like the signage to it could be better but maybe I just missed it the past times I've gone. Staff is nice and always happy to help. Seats are comfortable. Water fountain water is cold! The place has always been clean. The Broadway production I saw there had great sound, no complaints. The choir concert I saw there struggled a bit with sound, it was hard to hear them loudly or clearly, not sure if it was the singers or the venue though.
Carol Tiroff
Prices are like you are finding at any sporting event where they have a captive audience
Mathew Braun
I went here to see The Book of Mormon with my wife and friends; it was a great experience. Parking isn't too bad (there's a lot available in the area, including the DPAC deck), and the amenities are good. There are several bars/concession stands inside of the venue that serve somewhat over-priced, but still enjoyable beverages.
The theater itself is excellent; seating is more or less in a stadium-style in the upper levels, so you can always see what's happening on stage. The sound production and lighting are top-notch.
If there's a play in town, I highly recommend coming here to see it!
Anna McMahon
Always good returning to this beautiful theater. Even seats in the highest balcony have great views and sound quality. The ushers are incredibly helpful and kind, asking at intermission if you are enjoying the show or if you would want to move down a few rows to unsold seats.
Alex Philipson
Went here to see the nutcracker and was impressed by the venue. The lobby isn't huge but there's bars and a gift shop and people to help with finding seats. Gives a very old school theater going experience. Restrooms are clean and easy to find too. The seats are very comfortable and have displays describing the ballets too. Easy to get to as well and plenty of dining around.
Sarah A
I did not go into this Opera house but from the outside it was very impressive with pieces of artwork.
Ziggy 79
Absolutely beautiful on the inside. I've walked by this building many times and never realized what was inside. Large and great viewing perspective from the seats. The seats themselves are pretty comfortable. For tall individuals, you may not have much leg space. The acoustics were very good (we saw a comedy show).
Linda Byrd
This is a beautiful facility, not a bad seat in the house. We saw "Don Quixote", ballet version. It truly was a a great performance. First time at the ballet for me. Music was wonderful, dancing was superb, overall fabulous experience. If you get the chance go. Patrons were an eclectic crowd, some dressed to the hilt some in jeans, seems it wasn't about what you wore but how you appreciated the whole experience.
Jay Leff
We go several times a year to see the ballet and it's always a great experience. All the staff is kind and helpful. It's easy and quick getting in and to your seats and the dancers and orchestra are incredible! We love going to events here and are always excited to experience a new show there. I definitely recommend going to an event here (especially the ballet). You'll have a great experience!
Danielle Barton
Went to see the nutcracker. Great sets and sound. The beginning half of the nutcracker was boring at times....but overall a good experience.
Sequoia Sage Garza-Keith
They should take pride in the work they produce. The facility was beautiful, and the performers we're brilliant! I will definitely go back!!
andrew flood
We've seen a handful of plays here and I really love the venue. Who wouldn't? I thought it worth adding that they were very kid friendly when we went to see the nut cracker. The employees were telling my five year old things to watch for and were so friendly to him. And they have boosters so he saw everything perfectly.
Zechariah Dike
Took the family to a showing of the wizard of oz. This place always puts on a great show! Make sure to bring your mask and vaccination card.
Sabine Rocho
Fabulous environment, enjoyable performance. Fantastic performances 👏 …
Wanda Arbo (Pickles)
It was ok .. the vheck in screening for vacination was good.. the difficult part is when they cranked the heat up for the Nutcracker and it was scorching in the mezzanine. People were dripping 😓 it was so hot. Cold outside doesn't always mean you need 92 degrees inside. …
Josh Alt
Extremely nice space to be in. You feel very close to the stage regardless where you sit. The multiple entrances can be confusing. Once inside, it can be hard to navigate around without interfering with your peers . The seat was very comfortable. I wish the corridor or alley by the entrance were wider. It was hard to walk by once it is full. Be patient when you are going or go out especially if there is a huge crowd.
Overall nice place with a lot of nearby restaurants and activities, there is a nice open space right down the stairs outside the opera house.
Hopefully you enjoy Denver as much as I did.
Kyle Bullock
I've seen several plays/shows here and have had great experiences every time. Easy parking and great concessions.
Patricia Heinz
It was amazing!! The dancers were perfection!
The orchestra was outstanding, it was beautiful musical talents ! I loved the performance 100%.😍👍 …

This was been my third show here and I've been impressed with the production each and every time. They provide closed captioning for certain productions on the backs of each seat, the sound is great, and the venue is small enough that all the seats are decent. Plus, the woodwork inside of the Opera House is simply beautiful!
Wild flower
I hadn't been to been Opera in quite some time, what a treat!
Jack Kesterman
1st time to see an opera! "The Shining"
Loved it!
Ally Manthey
What a beautiful venue! Came here for a ballet and had a wonderful time. The seats are comfortable and had little screens to view subtitles, which was very helpful. Didn't seem like a bad seat in the house. The staff were all very helpful, also. Fun to visit for a "fancy" (for us) night out in Denver! It's proximity to the lightrail make it convenient, too.
Rob Moore
The view at the theater was fantastic, I've been several times and never had any obstructed view. The theater is small enough to always provide an intimate setting even in the cheap seats. The staff is always helpful and friendly. The only problem I have with the theater is the leg room, it's like sitting kin coach on an airline.
Jason MacFarlane
I am in love with this venue. The Acoustics are terrific and it's a wonderful beautiful space. I've seen three concerts here over the years and an opera plus multiple guest speakers. I really hope more people start booking this venue as it really is my favorite in Denver. The complex itself has tons of parking and is really nice to walk around with great views.
Lynnette B
I saw The Lion King and it was such am amazing experience. However, the attire is extremely casual unlike NY or Chicago theatres.
Mary Halpin
Beautiful performance at a marvelous venue!
Nik Kesic
All I can say is it is gorgeous.
David Johnson
The seats are comfortable and despite sitting near the top the set was easy to see. The acoustics are fantastic and there are few better places to catch a play. Drinks in the lobby are crazy expensive, but outside that it's a great experience.
Aaron Wong
Always happy to see a show here. Great venue, with a paid parking structure. If you are traveling from outside the city be aware that events like baseball games will affect your drive time. Leave a little early and please enjoy the show!
Shannon Milliken
So special to begin a tradition I grew up with... took the boys to see the Nutcracker!
Niki London
Beautiful theater. Had never seen a show here and bought tickets in the balcony. Very uncomfortable. Seats are like high barstools with your feet hanging down. There is a bar in front to rest your feet but seats in front push back and leave very little room for your feet. Stupid seating plan. Also very bad if you are shorter. I'm very tall and still had a hard time. Will never get seats in the balcony again.
Matt Stickel
I was there for the Digital Summit. The seats are uncomfortable, the light fixtures look like they have stuff growing on them and one of the stage areas smells like mildew/mold. Whenever I'm in that room (because I've attended the past three years at this venue), I can't stop sneezing. The area outside the theater is very nice, clean and modern. It'd be nice if they renovated the theater, reupholstered the seats and cleaned the fixtures on the ceilings. Just needs some TLC, that's all.
Noemi Nunez
My favorite venue for any Art's performance or symposium in Denver. I love the behind the scenes rooms as well, full of beautiful paintings and tastefully decorated. Haven't miss a single ballet season since I moved to Denver. Definitely one of my favorite seasons of the years and tradition!
Rob Chilcott
We had a great time. The venue is awesome and the staff worked well under pressure.
Emma Aragon
It's been a tradition to see The Nutcracker here every year for Christmas! Love to dress up and see amazing performances. The outdoor strip of theaters sets the mood before you walk into the theater with your tickets which feels so special! Concessions, coat check, souvenirs, restrooms, and helpful staff. Make sure to get there early to check your coat, get a beverage, and find your seat. You may be able to get a picture with a performer after the show in the lobby or sometimes on intermission. Best place to park is the garage although when a show has ended it takes a bit of time to get out of the garage, but for a woman it's better than walking blocks away in heels to find your car in hopes it wasn't towed. I can't wait to go back!
Maya Lee
If you are performing here or working here, the staff is moderately organized but mostly expect you to set up on your own. If you are attending a show here, be careful if you are up in the balcony seats as there are gaps between the walkway of the row your on and the seats a row down. There is a high chance you can misstep and get stuck in between if the lights are dim. It won't kill you but it won't be pleasant! I would highly recommend to get there early instead of late, especially if your seats are in the middle of the rows as the more packed the auditorium becomes, the harder it becomes to get settled into your seats. Great shows, actors, and musicians.
Jennifer Kern
Great opening night! Tosca was great.
Angelica B
This venue is beautiful! I love seeing shows here because it's so classic. However the seats are a bit uncomfortable after a while. I know they are a bit older and the theater is still very well kept so I only knock them one star for the seats.
Kevin Medrala
Been there to watch The Nutcracker and Dracula, and it's a wonderful venue! I had seats up in the box, then one on the floor for either show. Seems that you get a great view of the stage regardless of where you're sitting! Goes without day by that the staff were great as well.
Chris Calabretta
Beautiful venue, show was great, I'm not sure you can have a bad seat with the layout. Drink prices were pretty high, but they did have an option to prebuy drinks for the intermission which was great. We just had to walk up and get them, no need to stand in line.
Heather Conway
Beautiful venue! Glad I was in a row with neck rest. Any closer to stage in orchestra seating might not have been as comfortable. Acoustics great and interior design congruent with the age of building
Sarah Johnson
It was great! I watched the alice in wonderland show. I love the venue, you can hear everything clearly. But if you are sitting at the top you are not able to see all of it. Some parts are blocked from you view. The only thing that was frustrating was parking!!! We were there 30mins early and it took about 25min to park in the garage with all the traffic. So we had to run to not miss the show.
Melissa Holtzclaw
Disappointed that we paid for front row seats in a box suite and our seats were occupied when we arrived. The usher who escorted us to our box told us we had to wait until intermission before asking them to move from the assigned seats we paid for.
David Brown
Absolutely love this Theater, we saw Fun House what an amazing cast
Wendy Miller
What a cool venue!! Magical, just like the show we were going to see. A beautiful old Opera House in Downtown Denver. The staff were helpful and attentive. The seats were such that there was no obstruction of the stage. We were in the upper mezzanine and had no problem seeing.
Ashley Boggs
Always love to watch the Colorado ballet perform at this theater. It's such an intimate experience. They theater is just the right size and located near some great restaurants. If you are going to use the parking garage be aware there is only one entrance in and out. So get there a good amount of time before!
Sally Christine Fryer
I always love coming to the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. I feel like I can say that I've never had a bad seat while sitting in Orchestra seating. I have yet to have the chance to sit anywhere else but I feel like goose seats would be a great view as well.
Drinks can be a tad pricey here but they usually are in places like this.
Ilene
First time. What a great place. First time at the opera. What a fascinating experience. The usher was so helpful, clean bathrooms and I felt it was a great adventure for me. Parking did cost but worth it in the cold temperatures and convenience.
colormesarge %
Show was phenomenal. Was weird to have people all around me with outside food and talking loudly through the show though. Other than the open mouth hacking the lady behind us was doing, we really enjoyed our front row seats. In hindsight, I should have mentioned something to an attendant during intermission.
Jeff Parnell
I've been here at least 5 times, all for ballet. As of now, I haven't found a bad seat in the house for ballet, even at the back of the balcony or far left/right (although I haven't been completely at the end or in box seats), I've always had a decent view of the stage . I've been to the Met in NYC quite a few times for ballet, and although there's no experience like being at the Met, the Ellie feels more intimate. The acoustics at both venues are great.
Goldilocks
We went to the matinee showing of The Nutcracker. It was fabulous! The ballet was very well done, ushers and other staff were courteous and friendly, and for being downtown, parking was relatively easy. Will definitely go back to see another show.
Lexie
This Opera House has shows of all genres. I have gone to a Ballet and an Opera and loved both! Even the highest section of seats has a great view. The staff is very friendly and helpful when finding your seats, the bar, or the restrooms. The art around the building is phenomenal to look at if you need to walk around during intermission.
Stephan Meyer
I thoroughly enjoy watching shows here. The layout of the building is such that you really can see the stage despite tall people sitting in front of you. The Acoustics are wonderful and the chandelier that comes down out of the ceiling as an especially nice touch. The place is draped in class watching shows here overall experience wonderful
Lizzie Zabojnik
Great shows! Very professional, very beautiful theater to sit in, but come really early to park in the parking garage, because other visitors to downtown will take up all the parking if you are going for an evening show. There is lots of parking outside a couple blocks away from the theater too, do don't panic.
David Fasman
Saw Book of Mormon here. A very nice theater with a modern yet traditional vibe to the space. All of the staff were helpful and friendly. The chairs are comfortable and the seating is layed out well so it seems like there are very few "bad" spaces in the theater. I suggest buying your parking pass online before the show as the garage can get full easily and parking around the area is very limited.
Christopher Vest
Great theater, modern-wood themed theater providing a great experience for shows. The location is staged in a pretty neat area with lots to see and do. Highly recommend catching a show if given the opportunity. They have concession stands, and restrooms as well for all visiting.
Chris Johnson
This was our third or fourth time to Ellie Caulkins Opera House. We parked at a lot about a block away for $15 (there's also easier access from the light rail) seats are all good and like a good Opera house the acoustics are fantastic. The performance was traditional and true to the original and they provide English and Spanish subtitles for the performance. We had a great time as usual.
Gareth Middleton
Hard to beat the Ellie for a ballet- friendly staff, comfortable seats, and a good bar menu make it a great theater. Watch out for orchestra seating however- the pitch of the floor is gentle, so your view of the stage may be blocked by people in front of you.
Heather Schmidt
This is a great performing arts center. The seats are comfortable and the staff is friendly. They also have monitors on the seat that display which act is happening. The only problem was there were only three stalls available in in the women's restroom when I went. After the first act I ran to the bathroom and still ended up waiting the entire intermission. I feel bad for the women behind me because they couldn't get back to their seat on time. Note: go to the bathroom before getting there and you'll have a great time.
Kelli Limbaugh
Simply amazing theater. I have been there for many productions but this last time I was working behind the scenes for a conference. When it was over i stood on the stage and I sang The Impossible Dream to an empty theater. It might be my closest shot at Broadway but i felt it down to my soul and my colleagues gave me a standing ovation.
Edgar Carreno
It was really nice to see the opera live. It was crowded. The employees were very kind. The options to eat at their first floor very limited.
Nwoo
My boyfriend got us tickets to go see The Nutcracker as an early Christmas gift...
And it was an amazing romantic time...
We did dressed up..and we decided to take a Lyft to and back .
We ordered drinks and pre-ordered more for the second show... And they were ready by the time I got down to the bar.
It was very nice inside...the workers were very polite and made you feel fancy. Haha
There was high school students playing at the front and they did a great job.
Even other people going to see the same show were polite and as excited.
The performance itself was great.... you were enchanted with the orchestra and the ballet performers...
It was a a great show....since we've signed up, we've gotten offer's for upcoming ballets and we plan on going.
Butch Richardson
I occasionally work there. I'm a Local 7 IATSE Union member. We set up the shows for the publics enjoyment. I love working there.
Summer Wasson
Masks for safety, easy to find seating, staff was helpful and very efficient
Crystal Duckhorn
Very beautiful place with a mix of unique decor. Show (Book of Mormon) sounded and looked good in the theater. Drinks are highly overpriced ($16 for a mid-grade double shot). Would love to another show here.
Connie Presley
We bought tickets in the front row of the highest balcony. It was impossible to even see the stage without leaning forward and resting our heads on our hands the entire performance. My neck started to hurt. The top seats are very high and felt unsafe when walking between people in the front row as the wall over the edge is not high and you could easily stumble and fall over. The usher also had to remind everyone not to put their programs on the wall in front of their seats, as they could be knocked off onto someone seated below. Otherwise, the theatre is beautiful and easy to navigate in the common areas. I will definitely spend more on a ticket next time and sit in a lower section.
Emily Goodin
We visited The Ellie for a Sigur Ros show and had an excellent experience. The venue was beautiful, with plenty of room between rows of seats (we didn't have to stand to let people pass by, although we typically did). There was a very short wait to buy drinks beforehand and plenty of staff to direct us to our seats and to keep people in line. The only negative was the extreeeeemely long line for the restrooms during the intermission - both men's and women's. I ended up just going back to my seat (luckily I wasn't desperate).
Andrew Parker
A beautiful opera house and a great place to see the ballet. They offer drinks, snacks, and gifts in the main lobby. Their restrooms are always clean and the attendants are friendly and helpful. Dress up in your Sundays best and have a great time.
K L
A spectacular venue! This is s very vertical architectural masterpiece. Elements of Salvador Dali reinforce a design that puts spectators only a short linear distance from the stage, albeit from a high angle. What is truly nice about this venue is that it is friendly to all price ranges. Even the cheapest seats in the upper balcony have a wonderful view of the stage.
Mandy Fox
This space is really nice. The sound was good. The bar was understaffed. The balconey seating, last 3-4 rows, are not comfortable for people over 6 ft tall. There should be a notification of this when buying tickets.
Jeremy Coss
This is a beautiful venue and I have yet to sit anywhere that made it difficult to see the whole stage.
Ethan Jantzer
Great venue. Rather intimate and definitely smaller than the seating chart makes it look. Just about any floor seat is a great seat and first several tows of balcony are almost equally good.
Tee Purifoy
Thank for accommodating this big group. It was a nice space.
Cristina Twigg
The space is STUNNING, a really cool looking venue. Plenty of seating where it feels like it's impossible to have a good seat. And, you can order a drink to have it waiting for you at intermission. Great service!
Josh Lowmon
Good venue. Saw the Nutcracker but had box seats which are pretty tough to see from if you are not in the first row. Second row seats are elevated but not enough to see over people's heads and unfortunately without the powers to see through human flesh, you will have to hope for a relatively short family to sit in front of you.
ricky kelly
Great music venue. Controlled the volume to be able to hear but not go deaf. Stadium seating keeps views great for all. Can pre-purchase intermission drinks before the show.
Stefan Volf
Saw my first Broadway play here called the last Book of Mormon on my birthday. Great staff and good drinks were had. Seats were awesome as well. Hope to return soon.
Aaron Todd
We went to see The Nutcracker and it was incredible. The area around the theatre is pretty good fun and the venue is awesome.
The only bad thing I'd say is that it got really warm in there during the show.
Carol Skelton
Beautiful venue! Highly recommend taking the train here, since the station is literally across the street. When you enter the performing arts complex, the opera house is the first building on your left, immediately adjacent to 14th.
Inside the venue is beautiful! There is a Chuhuly chandelier in the lobby, a statue of ballerinas in the lobby, etc. Watch for the house chandelier to close up and move into the ceiling before showtime. It's cool to see a massive light disappear like that.
Drinks and food are a bit pricey and the wait can be long. I suggest ordering your intermission drinks before the show to cut down on the wait time. Pro tip- Limelight, across the pavilion, also serves booze. I believe they share a liquor license with the opera house too. Also, you can check just about anything at coat check, not just coats! Coat check is in the lobby, on the left side. It's free! You can get assistive hearing devices there too.
If you're looking for the bathrooms, mens and womens are located on either side of the theater. Family restrooms are only on the left side though. Go up or down one flight of stairs to the "in-between" levels to get there. In the elevators, restroom levels are denoted with an "R."
If you're attending an opera here, don't feel like you need to practice your German or Italian beforehand. They have English subtitles on the seat backs :)
Have fun, and enjoy the show!
Hannah B
Fantastic staff, DO NOT get 4th level balcony seats. They are absolutely terrifying and have no safety features. A manager was kind enough to move our seats due to the house not being full.
Chelsey Christy
My husband and I went here 2 weeks ago to see The Nutcracker and it was amazing. This theater is so beautiful and it's a magical experience. Don't forget to dress up nice, or you'll stuck out like a sore thumb😉 …
SOADKitty Blu
This place is cool! My brother in law took the husband and I here to see Book of Mormon. The seats are comfortable. Bathrooms were clean. They have a great wine selection. They also sell flavored popcorn in little bags. The area around the theature is pretty cool too. A lot of restraunts and bars. Great spots to grab some food or cocktail before catching a show here. Parking at the convention Center and taking the 5min walk over is easier than actually using the theater parking.
Lindsey Helgoth
The theater is beautiful, but the seating in the area we sat in is awful. We bought nose bleed seats (level 4), so I wasn't expecting a great view, but the view was actually just fine. The problem was that the seats are so uncomfortable we were all miserable. The seats sit up high like bar stools and then there is a tiny spot that sticks out about 3" from the backs of the seats in front of you to rest your feet. So basically you are constantly kicking the people in front of you. I'm 5'-6" and I had a hard time reaching the foot rest, so my legs and feet kept falling asleep. Also, if you don't like to sit up super straight, I'd recommend buying seats in another area to see if they are more comfortable.
Mateo Homan
Beautiful hall. Surprised to be able to hear HVAC noise throughout the performance. It wasn't loud, just a constant pitch that didn't fit with the orchestra. Disclaimer, I work with live audio for a living, so I may be a bit sensitive to such things...
Varnam Othique
Been here a few times now, each time was great. I do wish the seating had been built with more leg room so you're not having to stand up for every person that wants to walk in and out. Also, a coat check would be nice.
Amanda Richardson
The staff and performers at this beautiful venue were amazing! I'm so thankful for the student program that allows viewing off full performances at the final dress rehearsal. What an amazing opportunity to introduce youth to the arts!
Steve Smith
The seats are a little interesting. The person that was in front of me moved a lot. He found a way to lean back in his seat which didn't give my legs enough room. He also found a way to lean forward and I couldn't see the stage. Otherwise, the Opera house looks and sounds nice.
Dia Campbell
My favorite arts venue in Denver! Every seat in the house is wonderful; the row spacing is very cleverly done so that no matter how tall the Goliath in front of you, you'll be able to see the show perfectly! Make sure you watch the chandelier at the beginning of the show; it's lovely!
Taryn Robertson
This is the most gorgeous place. Lovely and charming. I really appreciate that you can purchase drinks and then pre-order drinks/food to be ready and waiting for your during intermissions. Really enjoyed this on multiple occasions!
Erik Freeman
Excellent theater with comfortable seating. Views are good from most angles. Bathrooms were very neat and clean. Drink and snack service was quick and the employees were very friendly.
Alisyn Crawford
Beautiful location. I took my daughter to see The Nutcracker and it was wonderful. There wasn't a bad seat. The theme of the show took over the entire lobby and you were absorbed by the enthusiasm.
stella bellucci
went to see the nutcracker after covid and they had finally opened up again. love being able to get back to this gorgeous theater.
Ryan Taylor
Went to see the Nutcracker, everything is good from the architecture to the acoustics. Definitely arrive at least an hour early if you plan on getting drinks or snacks because the lines go into the lobby.
Andre Jackson
Seats are fairly comfortable for us larger people. Not as much leg room asbo would like.
I was sold a seat in th Loge. The ticketing service said it was the best available however most of the orchestra was empty.
The accustics were amazing. Ibwas able to hear very well in my seat.
D T
One of our favorite places for a date night. Grab dinner and drinks somewhere in downtown, watch an amazing show...Great experience. Staff is awesome, they have a bar which gets really busy during intermission (pro tip, preorder your drinks and pick them up and avoid the line).
Dave Richards
The Nutcracker was AMAZING. We particularly liked the classic theatre having the modern electronic text at every seat for story naration. When we got there it wasn't clear that you could not bring drinks or snacks purchased at their bar back to your seat, which was very disappointing considering we bought them at higher than average costs, then had to slam them or throw them away to get back to your seat.
Devin Jenkins
Great, intimate venue. The only downside is that orientation of some balcony seats forces you to kind of twist sideways to watch the show. If you can get more central seats, it's worthwhile.
Josiah Feuerbacher
A fantastic venue to see a show! Saw the Nutcracker. Great visibility throughout the theater.
Tom Kelley
Very nice place... comfortable with good views and acoustics. We've been going each year since the venue opened about 13 years ago.
This time we saw an excellent production of La Traviata.
Ross Jacobsmeyer
I'm admittedly a traditionalist when it comes to opera houses but this was a beautiful renovation. Unfortunately the renovation didn't improve the acoustics which are mediocre at best. Here's hoping the city will rectify this at some point. Bar selections adequate if overpriced. Staff generally friendly though poorly trained and too often not very knowledgeable. Opera Colorado seems to on the rise. Hopefully their home will follow suit.
Karen Crawford
The opera house is a great place, although I didn't appreciate having to produce my drivers license and covid vaccination card in order to be allowed on the premises
kerry Prew
Love Denver for having a fantastic commune of theatres downtown, so much fun always, no matter what venue you choose. The hot chocolate isn't very hot at Ellie Caulkins (Boettcher gets that prize) 😆 but I ❤️ the experiences anyway. Ballet is a refreshing change from the onslaught of modern music. The subtlety of expression and emotion through music and dance is so easy on the mind.
Elijah 'Eagle' Lewis
As an IATSE Local #7 union stagehand, I have enjoyed the honor of getting paid to work some fabulous regional ballet and opera shows the past couple of decades pre-Covid-19 pandemic.. I hope to see a return to regular shows soon.
Lilia R.
This opera house is very well kept overall and has a modern feel outside the theatre proper. Inside the theatre has a really cool aesthetic with a retracting chandelier and great wrap-around seating. I think I prefer it to the Buell because such seating makes the performance feel more intimate.
Steven Low
This is a beautiful venue of great historical significance! The staff top to bottom, well they are the best without question! Attended a wedding here that was a fairytale event fit for any princess!
Bennie McMullen
Like most other reviews I found the seating terrible. No matter how inexpensive it is, I do not recommend sitting in the top balcony level, not because of the sound or the view, but solely because of the seats. They are the most uncomfortable seats in the whole place. That is saying something because none of the seats I have sat in have been comfortable.
Carrie P
I've seen several operas here and most have been very well done. The bartender RJ was charming and did a great job of having our drinks ready at intermission. This is a beautiful opera house, don't miss Kevin Taylor's downstairs!
PlayLyss Aka Ayssa Leiby
Beautiful venue with great acoustics. Very comfortable seating and easy to read translators on the backs of each seat. Really enjoyed the show I saw tonight. Fiiiggarroooooo.... 😊 …
Richard Zurn
The atmosphere was very nice. The spacing between tables gave a feeling of privacy not normally encountered. All the food was delicious and well presented. I have never had a better experience at a restaurant. I give it a top rating.
Paul Hernandez
Beautiful building, great sound. Strongly recommend a concert or event.
Charlotte Tankersley
Beautiful venue with excellent views from most seats. Ushers here are always friendly and helpful and we've always enjoyed the experience including its convenient location next to the light rail.
Mary Crimmins
Beautiful facility, great acoustics.
Gary B. Haley (Attunist Trilogy author)
I noticed that the acoustics in this auditorium are a higher quality than I expected. I have some damage to my ears and often have trouble getting all the dialog at musicals and plays, but in Ellie Caulkins I caught most of the dialog, as opposed to 50% or less in most places. Seats were not uncomfortable! Staff was great.
David T
Awesome venue and every seat is decent
Richard Jacobson
This is a beautifully concert hall. I would live to see other acts here.
Retta
Attended the production of Tha Wizard of Oz, a gift from our children. An amazing performance, definitely recommend seeing it,,,
Erin Self
I don't think there is a bad seat in this place. The dancers and orchestra were wonderful. Park in the performing arts garage so you don't get stuck paying high fees for street lots.
Connie
The building looks modern on the inside and not super impressive from the vantage point of the seat itself, however, it was clean and nice overall. The seats were cushioned, but somewhat rigid in the back. I would still definitely come back.
Elisse Kenaley
Beautiful Venue, the seats are in the smaller side. I'm slightly shorter than average and was quite comfortable, my husband however who is 6'4 was extremely uncomfortable the entire show... Tall people beware!
Alicia Aringdale
I love this theater. The sound quality is very good and in the many plays, musicals and ballets I have been to I have never had a bad seat. The decorations in the building are so lovely.
Jamie Lynn
I saw Sleeping Beauty here with my sister!
💜Love the staff, they are very friendly
💜The performance was amazing
🤔Make sure you press the red button on the seat in front of you if you want annotations for the ballet
🤔Don’t leave during intermission!
Gail Henry
It was very nice, enjoy it very muvh
GMJ
Wonderful venue to take in a show. We attended a magic show most recently, but have attended other productions in the past. We have always enjoyed this venue and they are masters at providing a great atmosphere to be entertained!
Green Mountain Sports
Beautiful place! Don't think the staff was ready for crowd that RedBull Media House and MSP films brought, they were grumpy. And don't step over the seat in front you either, I believe the usher would have tarred and feathered me if she had her way.
Elena Kavetski
We've been here first time at the Nutcracker in December 17 and were very impressed. We got the greatest pleasure. Will definitely come again for new performance by Colorado ballet!
Theresa Tee
Really enjoyed Wizard of Oz ballet. Only wish it had a longer run. Parking and traffic can be nearly impossible, so plan where you will park ahead of time and have back ups! Prime orchestra, conductor, ballet company and original music...all Broadway-worthy!
Marco Nistico
Fabulous opera house. Great facilities for artists. The backstage area is very good and the dressing rooms excellent. The shows presented are of the highest quality (and I am not saying that because I perform there)
Traildust1
If you’ve never been here you’re missing out on a great experience. We have been here several times and each time the shows have been fabulous. I’ve seen people dressed to the T and others dressed normally (like me). They have food and drinks.
Nic Filz
Very comfy seating, easy to move around. Nice theater. Great lounge area downstairs! Ample parking. Only two blocks from 16th street.
Kelly McKirahan
Great venue in downtown Denver. Parking at the venue is $15 and conveniently located.
Rance Massey
My favorite of all the buildings located on the DCPA campus. Have enjoyed many wonderful performances here. I'm a big guy, and love the comfort and room they're box seats offer.
Acepelli Ohlsson
Not a bad seat in the house but they weren't enforcing the mask rule at the opening of the Film Festival.
Jordan Estey
An absolute must see for anyone visiting Denver who enjoys the arts. An impressive building with and great history. Love all of the artwork inside and the staff are top tier when it comes to their knowledge, welcoming guests, and having an overall appreciation for their jobs.
Ashley Adams
The Opera house is not only a good place to watch a beautiful performace, its also a place to enjoy a silly one! We saw Champions of Magic a few weeks ago and it was a blast. There are plenty of places to grab a bite to eat before the show, or after, like Kevin Taylors at the Opera house, of Limelight. No matter the style of the show, it always proves to be a great memory.
Jennifer Elliott
Very comfortable seats and English translation on a small screen in front of you. Made experiencing operah very enjoyable. Need opera glasses for details. Take advantage of packages offered to get a great deal on tickets.
Ilise Meyers
Such a wonderful theater 🎭 Comfortable seats, great accoustics and wonderful stage. …
Sienna Flanigan
Very fun place to go to, lots of really exciting shows and lots of really nice actors and actresses there! I would recommend classes there for kids teens and adults who would want to do acting very fun! I would also recommend for going to see plays and musicals!
Kaimon Santiago
Amazing show, friendly staff, and a beautiful venue! My friends and I had a wonderful experience!
Pamela Colborg
My son had his wedding here. The staff and the facility were amazing! The staff was very attentive, professional, and warm; a rare combination. The venue is absolutely beautifull.
Lew Johnson
The parking lot staff really fell down this year as, compared to last year, other events I've been to at this place. The staff was innefective. I was pulling on to 13th at 645.still took me 50 minutes to get to the garage. Only to find out it was full. "Where do I go " The response was, there a lot of parking. Its downtown! Stern look. The troupe made up for being late. Particularly the usher that helped me find a seat. Mine was occupied by someone that purchased a ticket. Meaning! I paid I got here first. Still the performance rocked the house. White rabbit🐇, last year. king of hearts in 19" Brother! Love you. Alice: stunning as all on the, teaser Facebook. Caterpillar, no adjectives in my current incarceration adequately defined your performance. Mwah!! Mad Hatter😡🎩 your so talented I am, jealous. Despite the foibles, on my part. This performance needs but 1 ( one) thing. More dates. Y'all killed it. 😊😝😁✌🤟🙌🤣
Rox T
Beautiful venue! I love that there are cc screens on the back of the seats. Could use another bathroom or two but still a great place to visit.
Jacob Smith
One of my favorite places to see a good show in Denver. Even if it is not the biggest show you will enjoy your time here. I would recommend trying to get closer to stage as the view from the back might need Opera glasses.
Dr H
Beautiful building, great acoustics, wonderful performances. It is housed in the former Auditorium Theater originally built for the 1908 Democratic Convention. Note the original exterior architecture.
Nathanael Martin
Great seating options, even in the less expensive areas. For ballet, I recommend sitting in the mezzanine as you will more fully appreciate the movement and flow of the entire ballet. No need to sit too close.
Martin Huter
The Ellie is fantastic as a performance venue. Saw The Barber of Seville. First time I had been to an opera.Sound was great, made the event more enjoyable.
Jan Schoenfeld
Lovely building but very uncomfortable seating. Acoustics are great. If you are seeing something you really want to see, you kind of forget about the seats.
Nicki Burke
So gorgeous & management is great to work with!
Jeffrey Jantzen
Easy to navigate, thanks to the full staff of exceedingly helpful people. Clean environs with a very nice bar, and a delightful stage. Only complaint is the seating. Slightly small seats, and a little tough to navigate.
Lizzie D
I've always enjoyed my visits to ty he Performing Arts Center. The Denver Symphony is outstanding and the most recent performance of the Nutcracker was magical. I highly recommend checking out the shows. Always something interesting and for all kinds of audiences.
Tessera *
The ballet is magic. Vax and mask requires, but if Sugar Plum fairies can dance in a mask, you can watch them in one too.
Darin Belair
Show was excellent, the theater is good....traffic and parking is kind of rough. Go early to beat the traffic to park.
Jesse R Peterson
Was here for a graduation. Over all the experience was good. There were three graduations scheduled in different venues at the same time. This made getting out of the parking garage a terrible experience. Took 45 minutes to get out of the garage.
Allison Powell
Nutcracker for the holidays was amazing. For intermission make sure to pre order cocktails. It is an amazing perk.
Barb Nicolson
The Theatre is beautiful, is easily accessible, and the seats are clearly marked, and comfortable. The theatre has a nice slope so visibility is excellent as are the sound and lighting.
Dępręsęęd Dęmøn
A special family event to the Nutcracker.
We are so blessed to live in Colorado and to have a venue of this nature providing cultural experiences while raising our children. Since we live in Centennial, it’s always an adventure making it downtown to enjoy an evening of city life.
Alexis Price
I had a absolute great time. The staff is so nice and helpful! The theatre itself is beautiful! I would highly recommend seeing a show here!
John Miller
Hands down my favorite place to see a show. Have been to multiple broadway shows at the Ellie (wicked, les mis, book of mormon) and it is great: classic beauty with great sound and sight lines. Compared to other broadway venues I have been to in Charlotte, Seattle, and Phoenix, this is the best.
Kaia Knudsen
I saw the nutracker as well as frozen would recommend just make sure you look good.
Jasper Hendrickson
Inside of the Ellie Caulkins Opera House resides one of Denver's hidden gems. That gem; adorned with a superlative bar, a historic galleria and an esoteric yet inviting ambiance is Kevin Taylor's at the Opera House.
Kevin Taylor is a master at his craft. Thoughtful food and a service team that rivals the best worldly restaurants is a not to be missed experience. You'll find no shortage of creativity or flavor. It is the perfect pre-show experience to really make a special night.
Mary Adamski
Excellent concert. Love the salsa beat. Was wiggling in my seat and tapping my feet to the whole thing. There is rich talent and amazing voices in this choir.
Ann Marshall
We visited Ellie Caulkins to see the Nutcracker in 2015. Please don't waste your money, the production was mediocre at best. The music, lighting, dancers, and overall performance was a complete bore. The 3 stars listed are for the Performance Hall itself and the staff.
Manuel
We have been there for a Christmas classic: The nutcracker. Excellent venue, fantastic performance. The whole place is very tasteful. The building itself is lovely architecture
Oxana Veksler
Very comfortable concert hall with good acoustics. The polite staff. Convenient parking, cost $ 15 per evening.
Robert Turner
Great performance by the Colorado Ballet. Seats are comfortable and the translation/narration on seat in front of you is nice for both ballet and opera when we have attended.
Veronica Rodriguez
So fun great atmosphere
Stan Morris
The performance was flawless and yet the ushers allowed entirely too much foot traffic during the LIVE event which is extremely inconsiderate and disrespectful to the performers.
Will definitely choose seats located away from the EXITS.
S.P. Dudley
Been to this theatre multiple times and I can always say that the Ellie Caulkin is the gem in the performing arts complex. A more intimate theatre, it can still hold a couple thousand. Be prepared to que for restrooms during intermission.
Janet K
Such a beautiful location. Lots of beautiful wood, bright chrome, and comfy chairs. I was in the 4th balcony. Still able to see and hear everything. Lots of artwork spread throughout the building.
Ann Marie
We saw The Marraige of Figaro, it was awesome.
The Ellie Caulkins Opera House is also beautiful inside and out. Not a bad seat in the house, staff was very friendly.
Kay Thomas
Beautiful space with excellent performances!!
Alexis Quintana
Came to see Bill Burr and had a blast! Theater is beautiful and sounds great. Seats could have been a little more comfortable.
Jim Blum
Wonderful music and a beautiful performance. The seats are uncomfortable. They are too narrow.
Robbie Wurst
Best performance of The Nutcracker we have seen and we try to go every year! Ellie Caulkins Opera House could work on better regulating the temperature, it's always so hot inside and freezing outside.
Marshall Huwe
Had a wonderful evening at the Nutcracker. It's a small, but really nice theater and the seating is excellent. Easy parking nearby. Just a really nice experience all the way around.
James Seechurn
Wonderful atmosphere and acoustics. View was great from the mezzanine
Geoffrey H
Beautiful facility with very helpful staff
Jennifer Lonnes
Great, on opening night for Colorado Opera!
Alison Powell
Beautiful interior and comfortable seats too watch the show. Just be aware they won't let you bring drinks into the shows even though they sell it there.
Stephen Tifft
Great center for a play, musical, etc. Always enjoy going to a show here and it is a short walking distance from 16th st mall where you can go to dinner. Only downside is they are a little slow at getting people into the theater because of security.
Marnye Keller
Beautiful, great sound!
Brandon Williams
Beautiful facility with friendly staff. Great acoustics and not a bad seat to be found. The Nutcracker is a Denver must and going to the Ellie Caulkins is an essential part of that tradition.
E J
Great to attend live events again!
Jeff Bruce
Nice seats. Good sound. Convenient parking.
Paige Liberski
Seats not very comfortable. Great selection of shows. Average pricing for them as well. $4 water bottles (bring your own)
Blake Farmer
Part of Denver center performing arts complex. Nice complex with great plays. Restrooms need some maintenance and overall the place needs a bit of a face lift. Seats are comfortable.
Jeff Parnell
Acoustics were very good, from my seat I could hear everything from the stage and orchestra pit. Modern look and feel to the opera house too, it was nice.
Kelly Hickler
Saw the Book of Mormon here and had a great time. Beautiful facility with great acoustics. Will definitely be back to see another show.
Ben Petersen
Great view and sound no matter where you sit, quickly got in and out of the theatre and they have enough bathrooms so you don't have to stand around too much during intermission
Anthony Thiros
One of the most exquisite buildings I've ever seen. Saw the Book of Mormon there and it was fantastic! The architecture is amazing and the seats are comfortable!
Nasiri Suzan
Saw the Opera Pagliaccio. Beautiful Opera House and fabulous performance.
Kassondra Crane
I had my high school graduation there. I loved it. Such an beautiful place to have events happen. Then it's close enough to go to different places in Denver before or after.
Martin Herre
We watched Tosca. Entry only when vaccinated, masks inside during whole performance, except when taking drink during intermission.
Steve Trujillo
A truly wonderful and beautiful venue. Love the architecture from days long gone. Acoustically sound with a great view of the stage
Elvis Diaz
As always this theater never fails with the quality of service and performance it displays. Prices on drinks are a little high but fair for market. Would recommend staff very friendly and helpful
Cory Sanger
This place is wonderful for seeing the theater and the ballet amazing how to get your inside very wheelchair accessible including seating and restrooms the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable there is food and drinks served here as well
chance black
Outdated and very hot inside. Parking to get into the event especially when near by events are going on will be a huge headache. Concessions and bathrooms are straight from the 80's. This review is based on the facility and not the performances.
Sara Dyer
Awesome place! High priced drinks but what can you expect? We saw Bill Burr and it was great. Like this place much better than Paramount.
Mickki Garrity
Love the Ellie! I've visited for various shows in the past, and most recently for TedXMileHigh. The Denver Center for the Performing Arts is so great -- what a wonderful resource to have in our community.
Linda Hooks
I've seen one Opera and one ballet so far. I will be coming back as often as my wallet allows! Fabulous!!!! And my kiddos love it too!! LOVE!!!
Susan Ferrari
Best place to see a ballet. Beautiful interior. Seats up the upper tier can be very warm and muggy during performances.
Clair Beazer
Beautiful venue, ernest hard working staff. Acoustics excellent, a landmark jewel the city of Denver can be proud to weave into the fabric of the community. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Mary Scott
This is the most amazing place to have a message on Revelation! The Opra house was filled with people wanting to know about Gods future plans for -- us-- humans and Jesus soon return. Free parking, free meetings ,just as God is free to us. GREAT MESSAGE
Marie Barnes
We saw Giselle preformed by the Colorado Ballet. The Opera house was nice clean and beautiful.
Desna Orlovski
Beautiful place and friendly staff. The drinks were strong but delicious.
Christopher Rodriguez
It is very beutifull house. The guests are polite and very welcoming. It is one of the best theaters I personally have ever been too.
Donna Lee Giddings
This is what a $22.00 glass of wine looks like.
Cleo A
Gorgeous opera house. Good bar options, but expensive, to be expected. If you go to the bathroom during intermission use the ones all the way upstairs, they're less crowded!!
Jeff Hensiek
Great atmosphere and the performers were awesome. We saw the Nutcracker Ballet. I really liked the building and the and the architecture.
Daniel Davis
Took my wife here to see the colorado ballet's nutcracker. Great venue, great show and great experience. Have been here many times to see different shows and never disappointed.
James Brewster
Overall, a great experience. However, there were limited lines for concessions, and we spent the entire 20 minute intermission waiting in line to but snacks, with no time to eat them.
Tina Carlile
So much fun! Saw wizard of oz and really enjoyed it!
Nick Capra (Nickthegoatboy)
I was here to see Erasure (concert). It was warm to hot in the seats - you had to get up every couple minutes to let someone in or out since the rows were so long, and the sound wasn't that good.
Christina Argo
Saw The Nutcracker it was elegant, beautiful and amazing!! 👍❤️ The facilities were stunning. The only downfall is the women's restroom lacked some necessities. …
Kay Dirling
Lovely venue. Great sound, all the seats have a good view. Love seeing ballet and opera here.
Teneka Rodriguez
Kevin Larson's Presents White Rose Gala NYE 2016
Ted Lapis
Alice in Wonderland ballet was a delightful fantasy, faithful to the storyline & satire. The Ellie Caulkins Opera House is a fine venue for this show. The sets, costumes, and dancers were enormously entertaining.
Viki Duvall
We saw Book of Mormon this evening. The Ellie is a beautiful venue. Located in downtown Denver, it is one of the main locations for the DCPA. Drinks are a bit pricey, bit that is to be expected.
Lynne Heidman
Love the theater,.but they definitely need a few more bathrooms. It's difficult to get back to the show at intermission because the lines are so long.
David Piroutek
One of the two best places I have seen a show in. Acoustics are great, the seats are very comfortable and the views are excellent. I want to go there again.
Cody Duthoy
Great Opera House. Saw Beautiful, about Carol King. Phenomenal show. Phenomenal setting. The theater is amazing. The complex is equally amazing.
Raymond Rogers
I've been there quite a few times always nice. 👍 …
Josette L
Saw a play here with the kids. Lighting was great, music awesome. Wine and drinks outside the event. Live music outside . Was a good getaway. Night out with the kids.
Rocky MountainHI
Wonderful Theatre complex, just saw BEAUTIFUL-The Carol King Musical there, great sound, comfortable space, that fosters a coherent community spirit. LOVED IT!
Mike Noe
My partner and I always have a wonderful time at the Ellie. The attendants are wonderful and are on-point with scheduling drink orders during intermission.
Keith Conklin
We were there for the last dress rehearsal of The Nutcracker. Good time was had by all.
I don't sugar Coat, I call it how I see it
Nice venue. Please keep it at a comfortable temperature. there's no reason why ac can't be turned on, on a summer night!
Jacki Donner
Lovely venue. We had box seats which were comfortable and offered a great view.
Channie Hart
Attende for family member graduation. Some of the staff were a little clueless. When asked for more them one program it was refused even though they were not passing out programs when we arrived we had to go back and ask for one after we were already seated
John Taylor
A fine venue, the only complaint was the seats were difficult to access. The view once seated was great and acoustics as well.
antoinette west
This place will always have a special place in my heart. We go there every January for the Dr.MLK Humanitarian awards. The orchestra is always fabulous!
Jan Soria

Terry Barkhaus
My daughter and I loved it!!!
Ryan Bronco
Beautiful tri-level theatre. The Denver Christmas Cantata was hosted here (sponsored by IYF). Check out the Gracias Choir - they perform every year in Denver!
Bruno Silva
Beautiful venue, very well organized, modern amenities (low FoV text displays for translations of non English words, mounted on every seat).
H Johnson
A nice acoustic space, though the seating is not pleasant on one's back. Still, a good place to take in a show!
michael valadez
My wife and I come here every year for the nutcracker. The sound in here is amazing. The seats on the fourth level are pretty uncomfortable though.
Francisco Hernandez

Jack Hoffman
Beautiful comfort venue with great sound and refreshments.
Chris Mcgary
Saw 'Beautiful' there today! Great seats, wonderful sound. Bring a jacket tho, it's cold inside
Colin Gordon
Theater is a fantastic place. Great view in every seat. Seats are a bit small but not bad.
Todd Reade
Good venue. Can't find any decent eateries nearby. They (Limelight, The Corner...) have marginable food and sloooow service when I've been there in last year.
Matthew Peetz
Went to see the book of Mormon. I will be the first to admit that the seats we had were not the best. That being said the only part of the show that we could not see were a few actors heads that were tucked behind the props over on our side of the theater. The only other issue was waiting in line for the entire 15 minutes in intermission to get drinks and having to rush back to our seats before the doors closed.
d kowalski
Amazing comfort foods and favorites that we come back for often. Good craft beer selection. Nice atmosphere and mix of people
Terry Collins
Great place to catch theatre or opera, the acoustics are second to none
Savannah Sanderson
Beautiful theater!
Jon Buck
Fantastic venue and wonderful experience to see the Colorado Ballet and Orchestra.
Ricardo M
I liked the play they did on Peter pan but I felt as if there weren't many people of color(Audience/actors). This play kept my attention 4/5
John Scott Wren
Great place. Sorry to see it close. What happened?
Ann Schumann
Really love this theater. This is the first year we sat in the balcony, we had a great view and sound.
Kelsey Shiba
I love how intimate the theater feels. Even though I was in the balcony I felt close to the stage and could see the orchestra and the actors.
Nick R.
I have been here quite a bit. I have seen ballets and an opera there. There is only one problem with it. I wish there was more seating inside while you wait for it to be seating time.
Rebekah Stewart
beautiful theatre, and not a bad seat in the house! can't wait to go see another show!
Mark Sandusky
Fabulous Cleveland Parker Robinson performance
Gretchen G
This is a really cool place to see a play or whatever you're doing to see. The only problem with this venue is the lack of bathrooms. Mega lines.
