Reviews of The Merchandise Mart
Excellent place to visit. It gets illuminated and artistic videos are projected at night. Inside you can find lots of stores for the decor of your home, offices and places to eat (the latter ones are in the 2nd floor). The chicago bridal market is held here and it was an excellent experience. The building has an unique architecture and it is imposing. It is a building with a great history and it stands out for its commercial dynamism and diversity.
Truck Driver here, first time delivering to this place. Not bad getting here, take i90 to Ohio St, Right on N Orleans, Left on Hubbard then immediate Right to lower N Orleans, you will see underground entrance at bottom of hill. Security was super nice and helpful spotting. The place had construction in the garage so maneuvering was tight (make sure your tandems are slit forward). No overnight parking and no room to sit once you are unloaded. They do have clean restrooms up on the loading dock. While I am not a fan of tight places I would come here again. Almost forgot, they don't start unloading until 8:00 a.m.
Food court wasn’t open when I visited, but they do have lots of options. Logan’s Landing was where I decided to have lunch and chose a delicious salad. The bartender that also made a pretty wonderful French 75. Coffee is available from a Starbucks & Dunkin. The outside patio with lounge seating & wifi access next to the river was the best part for me. Great place to “work from home” on a nice summertime Chi day.

11th Floor @ KI & Pallas Textiles, stellar.
Floor by floor working through smaller booths on 7... Good to be back
Beautiful spacious building with plenty of restaurants on the second floor and lots of shopping centers. Never Knew this place existed they also have a water show at night on the Chicago River walk. Side note the Chicago brown line is connected to this building on the second floor.
What an awesome experience for use, future homebuilders. So many beneficial showrooms. Definitely will need to return to visit more. Multiple floors of options.
Floor 2 and a few restaurants on floor 1 make this a fun full day trip.
There is no point flying all the way here and look for furnitures. 😑
A cool thing to see for free…
One of a Kind Holiday Show was very good, abd not as crazy crowded as O t b ought it was going to be. I appreciated being able to view items and talk with employees about my purchases.
There are various stores to choose from, very clean and you definitely feel safe shopping here. The place is very beautiful and the staffs were very polite and friendly. They have very nice quality products, that every person can return back to.
The guards and other staffs are friendly. It observes health protocols properly. So, I enjoyed shopping, roaming and eating here. It was amazing. The parking space is not so crowded too. I love strolling and eating here at The Merchandise Mart
and see what's new to this store. I will recommend this shop to all of my family and friends. Shop now!
One of the best buildings in Chicago by far. It is a huge shopping mall with a great selection of shops. The architecture of the building is fantastic. At night they project videos onto the building from the bridge.
All the beautiful appliances, furniture and finishing that you can install in your home is there. Merchandise Mart is a historic spot in Chicago. Lavish, beautiful interior, great location.
This place ALWAYS let's my creative juices flow! I highly recommend going to neocon if you ever get the chance.
I was a bit skeptical about calling the merchandise mart "The Mart," (ugh...first the Sears Tower, then the Hancock, and now this, too?? just...ugh!!!" but, still, was I there for the very first outdoor digital display? The world's largest and everything?? Indeed I was. And The Mart, or whatever we're supposed to call it these days, was GLORIOUS.
I really did not do that much exploring here but there were some gorgeous scenes to take pictures at. There's a nice restaurant upstairs where you can get a wonderful Chicago Reuben.
amazing history........
The building revenues became a principal source of Kennedy family wealth, including being a source of political campaign funding....that is ...until.....
The Kennedy family sold the complex center property to Vornado Realty Trust in 1998 as part of a larger $625 million ($1,039.1 billion in current dollars) transaction, When sold, the Merchandise Mart was also the Kennedy's family's last remaining operating business. That year, MMPI was acquired by Vornado for $450 million cash and a $100 million-plus stake in Vornado. As of early 2007, the building was valued at $917 million.
I am sure is now at over a billion one writing this in 2022.
Everything at one place. Shops, Offices, Foodcourt. Brown/Purple line drops you right at the mart. Foodcourt has plenty of food options as well as Starbucks and Dunkin inside it. A bridge connects mart with Holiday Inn and other offices. Building gets lighted up in the evening which is amazing. It's close to river walk and other amazing places.
Just Amazing Architecture. I was there for the Chicago Collective a superb collection of Menswear resource and Fabulous party to boot.
Certainly is an impressive building.
You have everything you need here you can get ideas what you can do or would like to do the building is office space, shops restaurants and show rooms.
They also have cooking school or classes here.
Free wifi access to the train, I did notice that the open hours are 9-9 but I was out and about at 0630 and the doors were open.
Big building with a lot of space inside. Expo, and conventions are frequent here. Big food court and just shopping area also. Small Amazon store inside (food) for a quick grab and go. I walked around expecting something but was not sure what to expect. 0.o the L line stops right next to this place, that is the most easiest way to get in.
Great bar, great food options (food court), beautiful building
Checked top 5 hotels interior decorations. Hilton Chicago is the best design!
Gorgeous clothing. Gifts. Tile store
Such awesome furniture here!!! Any thing you could imagine! Really cool stuff!
A good place for designers to go for furnishings and ideas.
Great collection of food joints for quick bites during work hours, with added convenience of metra station. Several high end shops inside, which are pricy but great to have around.
Too big. Beautiful but no reason to spend the money to come to a place like this in the age of digital. All these businesses have websites.
Interesting place to see but if you have limited time in Chicago you can safely skip seeing this building.
Only thing that bothered me is that, even though there are plany of toilets in the mall they are mostly locked for the staff and a few left for mall's customers are quite tiny.
This is a review about the office space area. I had never been in the building but I knew it was historical. We attended an event with Fox Swibel upstairs. They had spacious conference areas and good bathrooms. Despite being a large building, it was easy enough to get around. I was also intrigued by the various tenants on the top floor. Obviously there's still a lot of Home Furnishing and design business that happens there. It was really cool to walk through some of the showrooms during break.
When first opened in 1930, Chicago's Merchandise Mart was the largest building in the world with 4 million square feet (372 square kms) of floor space. Today, its size remains a wonder when looking at it for the first time. Despite its current use for storage and furniture displays, I encourage everybody to check out this stunning piece of Art Deco architecture. Within the massive structure are food options, I used to go to Au Bon Pain when working by the Merch Mart. Art on the Mart is also a must see during the summer months. 5 stars for this staple of Chicago.

Very helpful staff and security people
So happy to be attending the One Kind of Show after 1 1/2 years of the show being closed. Great to see the main floor full with wholesalers. Disappointed the second floor food court wasn't open except DD. Good idea to have Starbucks open during show and after show.
Beautiful building, beautiful architecture. The lobby is gorgeous! The building itself is full of home design stores in the first floor, food court on the second floor, and offices(?) on upper floors. There are some fun options to eat on the second floor, there's a salad place, sandwich place, soup place, McDs, pizza, etc, but my favorite was an Amazon go store. I have not encountered one of these before and even though there was a couple minutes of learning curve and a confusion of -really, I just walk out?- it was a cool experience. Though there's not much to buy besides snacks and cables.
At night, the outside of the building does a beautiful projection show on the side facing the river. It's worth walking over to visit if you're in the area.
When visiting, don't miss the Pez Hall of Fame lining the street in front of the entrance.
Visited a show there & loves it. What an iconic beautiful building.
Such great memories of “The Mart”. This was my bi-monthly work destination for about 8 years. We had an office (Croydon Furniture Systems) and showroom on the 10th floor and I loved working here. Couldn’t wait to get on a plane from YYZ and go visit our people there. Centre of the Contract Furniture universe when Neocon came around each June.
What a dynamic building. Visited Motorola on 18
One of a kind show! Very good!
Didn't go inside but enjoyed the light show on the exterior, riverfront side. You can tune into a radio station that accompanies the lights.
Historic building - not a skyscraper, but has more floor space than probably any other building in Chicago.
Nice place to work outside of home. Food court has various options. Not sure why you would go here unless you are remodeling your place. It's a beautiful building. So many people recommended it, but it was boring without a need to be there.
One of A Kind Show is always fun at the Mart!

A fantastic building filled with history and fostering the great companies of tomorrow
Wonderful building. Aside from the fact that you get no cellular service, it's a great place to be. Tons of wonderful companies such as 1871 and Matter exist here, and then there are a plethora of stores and restaurants with good food to enjoy. Access to the Brown and Purple line is available through the second floor of the building, so there really isn't much you have to want for or stress about while you're here.
Super nice security.Helped me to back in.Got a dock right away.
Went to 17th floor, Project 44 for a free coding class.
Amaizing space for the attended event.
Pretty darn fancy but also a great part of the city to explore. A cool place to check out some high end design.
Full of history... A perfect blend of old and modern architectural finishes...
Lovely art-deco building
Great place for Designers or Distributors...Business Owners.
Lots of walking. .. Lots of Shopping
Big EXpo also have Food court , Coffee, much more . Required Covid Vacinee Proof "Dont have Vaccine Station .."
Check website for Information .
World's largest permanent art installation ❤
When to the One of a kind show. First time. A lot of lovely art, clothes, jewelry and other hand made items. Will be back
Such an amazingly historic and modern building at the same time. I’ve vended here at the OOAK Chicago show before and really enjoyed the experience. Things are well run and the location and space is incredible. Make sure to find the food court in the back corner of the building.
The One Of A Kind Show was Amazing!!! Art, Fashion, Food, Unique Beautiful Things. Can't wait for next show ❤❤❤
We enjoyed the One of a Kind Show
tremendously. The only problem was the cost of the parking, however, it can't be avoided in Chicago. Next time we'll use a discount source, mine had expired. The artists and offerings were great at the show. Like anything, you need to plan ahead what you're looking for and what booth to go to. We plan on going in April for the spring One of a Kind Show .
Awesome space, great amenities
This building is stunning! Starbucks, Potbelly, on site, they even have a food court. Bridal market was so much fun!
For anyone involved in home design, especially baths and kitchens, this place is it. They have an incredible selection of designers and design components to bring absolutely any dream to life. We live to walk through and dream, but also to get ideas to a apply when we don't have a 6 figure per room design budget.
Beautiful building... Stepping up it's food game, too.
The mart is a cool spot, but the college dorm theme isn't my favorite. There are nice, tech equipped conference rooms and the location is conducive to good collaboration, but I've honestly never heard of a single techy collaboration come from that area. The easy survey service they have also didn't work on my pixel. It was pretty disappointing for a tech spot. Outside of the dorm themed common areas the theme is overly severe and too florescent looking.
This place is incredible. So many businesses, shops and restaurants located inside. This building is also huge. One of the coolest things I saw when walking around was they had this huge projector that was displaying the news and had red cushions on like big stairs where people were sitting eating their lunch. I thought that was very unique.
huge building, great location
Huge building, lot of great store. Love spend time their
Great space! Interesting Trade Shows and Events
The most comprehensive collection of interior design vendors anywhere in the United States
Honestly even tho I never buy anything here I still think it's the coolest just for its history and current use as a tech hub. Don't fool yourself into waiting in line for the starbucks in the morning (it's the busiest one I've been too) but definitely take a strong through just to see it all. Not a half bad food court overall either.
Such a busy place, great place if you like being around places bustling with activity.
Iconic structure along the Chicago River.
Amazing building, grand elegant architecture. Looking forward to everything being open again as it would be a very vibrant space filled with people.
Best place for home design and decor in the Midwest.
I've been to Chicago many times, but I'd never been here. I'm very glad that my wife and I found it. It is historic, interesting, still functional, etc... The designs from the showrooms are outrageously expensive (the "sale" refrigerator was $8,000 at one of the locations), but they are good for getting ideas and seeing the latest and greatest. Very interesting place.
It was the first time I went inside the building. Even though I couldn't go to any place I like and spent sometime looking around in the lobby looking at the art work besides going to a show on one of the upper floor. Well, worthwhile making a quick stop at this historic building if you are close by.
The building is huge! It is one of the largest in the world. One thing that is annoying is trying to find a bathroom. It seems they have taken notice and started adding a few. Some floors have women's on one side, and men's on the other side at the opposite end! It is interesting to try to find out which elevators go to which floors, because not all go everywhere. There are restaurants (fast food) in the bottom 2 floors.
Nice variety of high end bathroom/kitchen providers and a decent food court.
A Beautiful Place with Lots of food court, sorrunded with some lovely homes and safety. A Place to Enjoy🤩 …
I work in the Mart at the Connectory. My Amazon driver Al is amazing. He is always friendly, courteous, and helpful. If we have questions or concerns he is always ready to assist. Working in a building that is over 4 million sq feet, it is essential to my everyday business to have a driver that is not only familiar with the building but friendly and organized. Words cannot express how important he is to our success. He should definitely be recognized for his fa nominal customer service, hard work and great attitude.
Love this place as they have great showroom for some of the stuff our office could potentially use and they have some great offices up there like Braintree that hosts Chicago hack night on Tuesdays
Beautiful building inside and out. The stores have interesting and high end furnishings for homes.
I was impressed by the sheer number of shops and businesses that exist within this building. Not only are you going to find some of the top brands in interior design, but there's also plenty of other places to check out while you're there as well.
Great place to shop for your needs or stop and have lunch and relax some
I went there for lunch and it was great. Lots of choices, plenty of seating and it was all very clean and safe. It also has access to the CYA Brown ljne
One of the Great Buildings and Experiences of the World! If you love design, furniture and technology you will get lost inside one of the biggest physical structures on the Planet! From Motorola to Steelcase to 1871 it's in here!
Attending Matter events on Healthcare innovation brings emerging technology to the forefront.
Very big an elegant mall. Lots of very iluminated stairwells, nice foodcourt, tons of kitchen contractors. It has a lot of space to walk, so this makes merchandise mart one of my favorite places to visit during the winter.
I was at the Mart for work show/event on a Sunday thru Tuesday. There are a lot of restaurants in the Mart but unfortunately very few open on Sunday. It would be great if more were open Sundays for breakfast and lunch when an event is taking place. Staff at the Mart are always friendly! 😀 …
Huge mega construction besides the Michigan lake. Be careful from which gate you enter and exit , you can easily get lost. Lost of food options and bars available on the ground floor
Beautiful building with a diversity of food places, such as coffee shops, quick bite places and my favorite the Kefir bar! Good place to spend sometime while your Uber driver comes your way!
It was a really cool building with a lot of stuff in it but the place I was looking for said it was there and it was not there
Nice building. Can't do much shopping but lots of companies you can find a job at.
I was impressed by the sheer number of shops and businesses that exist within this building. Not only are you going to find some of the top brands in interior design, but there's also plenty of other places to check out while you're there as well. In particular, I was impressed by the number of restaurants that exist within the Mart. It's nice to have such variety!
Incredible iconic building!
Cool collection of restaurants and businesses. Really rejuvenated the building. Best way to get here is via brown or purple line. 1871 is here, so that about sums it up.
Nice building. Good food court convenient to L stop. High end home improvement.
Love the food options. The shops are quite nice. I especially like The Shade Room for the variety of window designs offered.
Went to look at kitchen appliances and bathroom appliances. There's so much to see just on the first floor. Will go back and look some more.
Great little place to get all your Chicago sports stuff. Hats, jerseys, etc. Got everything we needed in one place! Awesome!
Interesting architecture and definitely a place you want to go if you are considering a remodel or build or just want to admire design.
Amazing place! you can find just about anything you can dream there.
We live 2 minuets away from it and the first time I learned the story and history was on an architectural tour boat. I recommended everybody to try the tour and take a walk inside of the mart as well.
Beautiful building with a decent food court. Brings this city so many tourists with all the expos they host every month. Very convenient location connected to the brown line and right along the river.
I adore every chance I get to stop by here. You had 1871 and Matter both based out of here. It's a beautiful building and there are always great events held here.
Great historic building. Love their One of a Kind Show.
Interesting place. I have yet to explore the entire building but I do enjoy the events they host and the sculptures / artwork they have to present on select days.
I have to go here for work meetings. I can't decide if I'd rather be at work, or go to these meetings. Luckily my work pays for parking but otherwise if I had to pay for parking that would be abysmal. It's a very busy area there's a huge Starbucks inside which is nice other than that, as far as the shopping it looks pretty standard
Nice building in downtown. Plenty of companies inside and food court in second floor.
Awesome architecture and great to walk through. Food court is nice. The video that plays at night is so cool.
This building was originally used as a wholesale market for retailers. then it was used to house furniture and other design focused companies now it’s starting to feel more with tech companies. There are some furniture companies and appliance companies that are still in the building but it’s not like a traditional mallso so do your research before you go.
Over crowded but convenient if you like one stop shopping for lunch and cafes
Such a fun place to get a bite or look at housewares. Some of the restaurants aren't the best food but are quick for lunch.
STYLEMAX is probably the best buyer experience in the country. Fantastic perks and customer service.
I love to come here to find the latest home designs. Including doors, fixtures, and furniture. All high end items, really gets the creative mind flowing!
The Merchandise Mart is a huge place for shopping (mostly home goods) and to attend different trade shows (One of A Kind, Bridal, etc). They also have plenty of restaurants to choose from if you work in the building, close by or just want to grab lunch.
So much history in this building, if you live in Chicago or visiting i would recommend just walking around the MM and enjoying it. They also have awesome places to eat and drink inside.
An iconic building offering just about everything. A solid food court. I attend classes for my graduate program here.
The merchandise mart is a great place and have a nice bar called Marshall Landing. There is a nice food court. It gets directly to the CTA and you see a lot of professional people there.
Historic and HUGE building. Not much of a tourist destination but if you work in or around this building the new food court is great! Many different food options so you're sure to find something you like.
Cool office space with a nice bar but it closes down early including the bathrooms! Be warned!
Very cool on the inside. Lots of shops all around, and the displays are amazing. Highly recommend just going here and checking it out.
Went for a private event and I must say the security was extremely helpful and very curious especially with the high volume of people
This is the spot to look at high-end design if you're in the area. 6th floor and 14th floor have the best furniture in the city. If you're visiting and love design this building is a must see
Nice displays, well laid out. Pella windows beautiful architectural window had more to offer than in it did in the spring.
One of the greatest buildings ever. Bring your walking shoes it's huge.
My office was in this building for a while, and I loved it. great location, lots of lunch options. Most importantly some amazing trade shoes are held here. One of Kind, Neocon, and some sample sales!
theMART is the world’s largest commercial building, wholesale design center and one of Chicago’s premier international business locations. Encompassing 4.2 million gross square feet, theMART spans two city blocks and rises 25 stories, and is visited by an average of 25,000 people each business day; in total, nearly 10 million people visit theMART each year.
Heavenly food options. Crowded at lunch but still worth it
This is a great place to conduct business meetings. It has a splendid view and comfortable seating. CTA train station inside the building is a huge advantage
Easy to get to by train. Fun shops to walk thru. Great way to spend the day in chilly weather.
To list this as a shopping mall is incorrect. Really for trade showroom, mostly furniture. In the public area there are open showroom rooms for kitchen and bath, all very high end merchandise. We were there for the Casual furniture show.
This place is huge. Be prepared to walk. The 2floor food court has come great variety
Great food court, but the bathrooms didn't have a changing table. Am I supposed to change my baby's diaper in the middle of the food court?
Huge selection of home goods brands have showrooms here.
Lots going on, huge venue with lots of high end home design shops , a few tech companies and some decent food options, mostly fast food.
A beautiful design meeting place in the heart of the city. So many high end designer home appliance and furniture and kitchen and bathroom and ... it’s H U G E !! Love it !
We hung out on the second floor food court. Food and drink from available establishments. More outlets would be good for when it gets crowded.
I love this place right off the brown line cta
Have Always Loved the Mart, it's a market for interior designers.
Enjoyed working there in the late 90's, early 2000.
great place to browse for decorating ideas for the interiors, or occasionally you might catch a good bargain on some floor sample sale.
Very nice place. Clean and secure and very friendly staff!
Great Place! Gives you the feel of Chicago And The City!! I Love It Here!
Beautiful Art Deco building. Come and check out the light shows on the riverwalk!
This is a big huge office building at Wells Street and Orleans Street and just on the North Bank of the Chicago River. I guess that used to be their headquarters for a lot of things I know that they have a lot of homeware and housewares and other furniture fashions here. It's a great place if you're a startup company I guess this is what they call it now. It's not your grandfather's Merchandise Mart. So whole new different Merchandise Mart today.
A large place with a. Lot of companies. A good food court and even shoe shine. It's a good place to work or grab lunch.
Awesome! Great stores (especially Luxe Home) and had a good lunch at one of their multiple restaurants.
They were closed setting up for a conference. Beautiful interior decor
I visited this building as part of an Art Deco skyscraper tour. Amazing architecture.
Several great shops and restaurants. Very conveniently located to our hotel.
Nice to to walk around and grab a bite to eat.
They've really updated the Mart lobby and food court. Very hip now yet still maintains that great art deco look.
I walk through it everyday. Great environment. Great product selections. Great food selections.
Beautiful property with a good food court, coffee and people watching. Luxury interior and exterior showrooms, 2 radio stations and Yelp occupy the building.
Very fancy stuff. At least a dozen floors dedicated to furniture displays. I couldn't actually afford anything there, but I know it all looked fancy.
Just had a drink looks great if I could afford to stay!
One of A Kind Show was wonderful, so many talented artists and unique art displays, jewelry and fashion... will be returning next year!
Quintessential shopping mall with a decent food court. Gets very crowded during lunch times. Also had a gym on the 9th floor. It also serves as a stop on the brown line.
Great place to check out and get ideas. Many many brands from flooring to bathroom to kitchen items to view and select. Every store you pop in you are welcomed with open arms (of course they're hoping you spend in 10s of thousands to purchase appliances and what not). Overall a great place to check out and get an sense of what you want done in your renovation plans.
Fun night of cooking. Had to share cooking activities with another couple. If you go with friends, ok. If you go as a date, could be a bit disappointing to share with strangers.
Great food options. Incredible building to just wander through. Great location right I the river and I the heart of the city
Huge building, but very well organized.
A lot of businesses and offices here!!!
Currently is a nice place to visit restaurants, go to the river walk, and see the light's protection on the Mart.
Been years since I worked there. Whole new office concept. Go Nanny is located there. Check them out if you need assistance with getting your children around town
Great shopping experience
A Commercial LandMark Property that has a Food Court and Different Businesses, Also Post Office.
Nice 2nd floor food court new layout.
Lots of cool things to see and do here not to mention it's one of the most historic and iconic buildings in Chicago.
It's the best seating place down town plus they have a awesome bonus which is power out let's in the upstairs tv room. It's great.
Beautiful building with a decent food court. The marble steps are def worth the visit.
An amazing place to walk around and window shop!
They hosted a 'One of a Kind', art show which had a variety of vendors. Loved it. Will go again!!!
6 Stars. It's an impressive jewel in the heart of DT Chicago, it's name doesn't do it justice.
Great people watching. Decent food court.
Interesting businesses here, though I've only r really visited for meetings.
I go here for the food and the train.
Other then the estimated time always being off, I really don't have anything bad to say about this place.
The mall is really nice, and good part is that you have a bunch of nice open offices to visit like 1871, that is one of the largest and famous startup incubator in Chicago.
The river walk right beside it is amazing in the summer. The ArtontheMart show is pretty nice
Indoor specialized shopping for household accessories such as flooring, kitchen, bath, etc. It has a small food court too. Amazon GO shop accepts returns for your Amazon shopping.
Went here for the One of a Kind tradeshow. Tons of people but it was a nice time. This place is huge. Easy access from the brown line though.
Beautiful showrooms and friendly staff. Sort of difficult to navigate without knowing exactly what you want. Still a great time.
Huge building with lots of offices and people. A bit too big for my tastes, but you can swing by to do some shopping or grab lunch.
Very cool historic building filled with a wide range of food, home furnishings and business offices including the 1871 tech incubator.
One of the biggest buildings in DT. Nice and clean inside.
Well secured and organized.
Take a walk , Romantic kinda
I work here. It has good food court and easily accessible via cta.
Very enormous building. Make sure you have a floor number & suite number before coming.
I work in this building and it's a fun and eclectic space. Juxtaposition of tech and high-end interior design shops is interesting although one might expect a high-tech interior design company.
The helpful folks at their loading dock spotted me into the door in minutes and had the freight off in very little time! 👍👍 …
Super grand! Beautiful lobby with huge magnificent Christmas tree that everyone one wants to take a picture
Beautiful convenient place for bridal show with great lunch food options
Best security always there for others and very helpful on direction
Great place to have lunch during working days.
This place is beautiful! And surprisingly to me it is the how of lots of tech companies
We were there for men's style market. Great vendors, beautiful things. Always recommend using spothero app for the best parking deal.
A very cool place to visit and browse.
Chicago landmark repurposed for multi use. Still a wonderful place to stroll through
Great place for a conference. Attended Neocon and the office furniture showrooms are permanent and wonderfully done.
Amazing architecture. Decent food options. If you are doing high end house upgrades, this is the place.
Such a great space filled with amazing companies and outstanding retailers.
Awesome places to see. The elevator guy was rude and ghetto.
If I had an unexpected day off, I'd walk on the Riverwalk to Merchandise Mart and explore the giant showrooms on the upper levels. Alas, I work a lot.
Merchandise Mart has something for everyone. 1871, Chicago's startup incubator, is housed here. There are plenty of nice food options. And the Brown Line opens into the building itself. MerchMart is a historic location in Chicago that has successfully modernized.
Constantly being updated. Only issue is it's almost a commute to simply get in and out of the building. Specially at night because the lock all the exits.
Lot of stores to see and they have an amazing food court on the second floor
The Chopping Block's Wellness Bootcamp was really fun. JC is a very charismatic teacher and all of the staff were very friendly.
Nice to see all the commercial design folks under one roof.
I think only use the mart for lunch and access to the train. It works great for both.
The place has changed much. I hadn't been there for at least 10 years. The shopping section definitely improved.
It's a fun place to see a ton of reference home furnishings. The tech incubator is awesome also.
So many places, so little time! I recommend checking out Bright Group and A Rudin.
Nice food court, clean, nice furniture, but I went there because the website said they had a garretts popcorn in there, and it was national popcorn day, and I wanted to share some with my coworkers. Well the Garrett's had be closed for quite a while, but the website did not update this info.
Great place for working. Good food options. Modern cool technology work environment. Good interior decoration shopping
My husband and I went there recently to check out a gym and we love the building it was in, including the area.
Great if you are into remodeling houses. Otherwise it's just a giant Barbie house with classy babes in formal attire.
One of the greatest places on earth! Nicknamed the Transformer because it can change at any time (more than meets the eye)
Beautiful building, wonderful staff at one of the most iconic buildings in the state!
I work here. The second floor has a lot of good food and it's not far from parking or public transportation.
It's a beautiful building in a super privileged location.
Went for a convention. Employees were help full which was great because The Mart is huge and it's really easy to get lost and or detracted by all the great shops. I suggest taking the CTA to get there to avoid parking fees.
Went here for a huge art show and it was nicely organized with courteous staff. Kept clean. Would come again:)
Large. Easy to get lost. Decent food selection for lunch
A beautiful enormous building! It’s fun to explore all of the interior design models. There’s also a nice WiFi spot in the main entrance. It’s very well done. Beginning in March 2019 you should definitely go to the river walk in front of the Merch Mart to see the light display projected onto the entire south side of the building.
Nice old building. The Chicago Bosch Connectory is located there. A hub for IoT entrepreneurs and startups.
There's always something new and different going on here.
Modernizing for sure. Better food selection; more everyday consumer spots for sitting, meeting, and shopping; plus of course the broad selection of showrooms upstairs and mostly out of the reach of the general public.
Had great time with friends. Staff is very friendly and very much recommended.
18th Floor is where Hu resides... Soon to be 19th -- but TheElevator does go higher

only downside to the Merchandise Mart is it being on the end of the CTAs loop outbound route. This makes it an absolute nightmare when you try to leave work at 5pm and end up waiting a half an hour for a relatively open train car
Variety of shops and restaurants connected to the Holiday Inn next door. Only compliant is thst not much is open on the weekends.
Gigantic building that is home to furniture showrooms. The L has a stop that is directly connected. Neocon was a fantastic experience here. They also have a food court.
Beautiful building with tons of excellent home design showrooms.
Great selection of restaurants and having a Post Office in the Mart is a great convenience!
well renovated, and a maze. I couldn't find my way. Got lost for 20mins trying to get to pivotal.
I work there, nice places to go to for merchandise.
A beautiful building, well maintained. We attend the National Bridal Market and it is by far the best market in the US!
This is one large building and has several great places to eat and visit.
If you have never seen this building, go there
The food court is empty so it's pretty much a covid free safe zone
One of Chicago's greatest beauties. Constantly changing and upgrading every time I go back into this space there's new spaces and places to be seen.
I work there. Not a lot of "Oh I just love this place!" But a nice building with good staff
Huge facility. Not much to do though if you don't work in the mart
Merchandise mart is an amazing building...part of the history of the city...once you are infront of it you can see it
Talk about Never ending. Come here for the employment, stay for the ultra lush world class events; if not because you’re completely lost by the maze of an elevator system.
The Mart is a great place to work if your interested in growing business or startups. Also has a really good food court on the 2nd floor.
I love the Mart, always go there for a Kefir smoothie or to grab something at the McDonalds, great place to kill some time.
Stone mason working across the street and also done stone work there (new addition 90ish) always love going to there ,if visiting take a look atbthe massonary ....sweet
Great place for event and great meeting place.
Great Restaurant inside!
It's a Beautiful place to be also for many occasions
Modern design. Great food options.
Art institute has a student run restaurant worth checking out. Tasty and cheap.
It's such a cool fun place to visit and look around at all the beautiful designer things
It's cool. Get off the brown line and explore.
Weird off-beat local spot for thin crust pizza made by laid-back family of owners. Shockingly great for kids. Gameroom in the back, and most of the games are free.
Landmark building that brings back many memories when it was a prominent source for wholesale shopping and interior designers. It still offers many show rooms for interior design. Good food court & train stop that brings you to the door, parking available in garage. One of a Kind Show twice a yr.
Historic Chicago landmark and home to 1871. I'm a proud member! Great food too.
im here everday for work...what can i say. nice people are here...from cta folks, restaurant workers, security and mart staff too. showrooms nice and worth a trip to visit the iconic merchandise mart!!
Great venue for NeoCon. The elevator situation is abysmal but you learn to take the stairs if you need to get to specific floors in a timely fashion.
Upscale stores. Adequate food court during the week.
Loved it. An amazing building with lots of shops and things to see. Beautiful
It was one of the best places in chicago to visit
I donated blood on the 7th floor of the Merchandise Mart back in January. I also came here the night Kim Foxx beat Anita Alvarez on Primary night🌃 2 years ago. …
Beautiful building, first floor has many options for lunch.
Great historic building with many lunch options
Had a fantastic time at the One of A Kind show
I work in the building sometimes very smooth environment! And I love the music!
Food court choices were overwhelming. Thank God there's a McDonald's
Confusing layout. First two floors are available to the general public, but additional access to higher floors (and showrooms) are delegated to Elevator access only instead of Escalator access.
Great to walk through on rainy days. The DDs rocks!!
I actually included Merchandise Mart in my walking exercises. It's a great Walk thru to get to the River Walk.
Very cool building! The Art in the Mart was amazing!
Lots of services, all you need in one place. You might get lost first time you go but workers are very helpful will help through, thanks guys
So many fantastic places on one building. Worth exploring!
It wasn't the total treasure trove of engagement I anticipated but I won't write it off. I especially liked the lounge area with the stairs.
No parking ever, can get taxis though they are queued up on the side of the lake. Do have bus stop and train stop close though. Just sucks going on elevator, literally will wait like 4 minutes;take the stairs brah.
One of a Kind Art show Saturday 12/8/2018 was way too crowded to enjoy
Very beautiful
One of the coolest buildings in Chicago, rich in history. Food Court has great choices.
Art on the Mart is the coolest thing I've seen in a long time.
Cool place to check out but easy to get lost and not all showrooms are open to public
Gorgeous place, clean and lots of fun. Tons of stores. Security. Excellent.
A true landmark withall the trappings of the old days, along with Barney and friends..... just like MayBerry.
LOVE this place. Great Restaurant options and great events throughout the year
Good place to work and conduct meetings
Very huge, good for sight seeing. lots of stores
lots of food options on the second floor food court. 1987 and Interior Design shows are always there.
Beautiful incredibly unique furniture and accessories
Amazing structure with some of the best furniture.
Signage and staff have much improved over the years. Plenty to variety for food and beverages.
Probably a good design center for designers, but I was lost as a regular consumer.
It's a must go in Chicago. Besides been a metro station, the Mart it's an incredible building with an exception architecture. It has a lot of shops and place to have breakfast, lunch or dinmer. The First floor it's full of kitchen manufacturers so if u are thinking about rebuilding your home you will definitely go there! It's also place for the offices of big corporations as Motorola.
What a big place. It adds the value to the Chicago river look.
1820 is inside it, which is famous for meeting and talks.
This is the place to come and do some SERIOUS shopping!
is this thing on?!...oh ****...
soul-weaver.carrd.co
Wow, huge building, tons of high end shops, and trade shows, food, etc. The L stops in the Mart.
Iconic space. Great for shopping (for hi-end home furnishings, dating (The Chopping Block) and even wedding ceremonies. The location is hard to beat. Home to Motorola, ConAgra and 1871 a leafing tech incubator and coworking space.
So much to see. Great ideas if your building or renovating a home.
If you've never been to merchandise mart, you should check it out. It's full of cool shops with one of kind items and has a wonderful food court with lots of options under one roof. They had the first Jamba Juice in the city before it became super popular! I am sure they still have restaurants that are up and coming.
I work in this area, super close to public transportation, and favorite coffee place is here (DD).
Located inside of the Merchandise Mart and sharing space with 1871. The people are super nice and the service is always great. I'm more partial to tea, and intelligenisa has some solid selections. Say hi to Cornelius when you stop by.
It's more than wonderful
Great space for events, not so great for parking!
Great place to hang out as a bike messenger
Chopping Block is where I enjoy going a few times a year for education.
Great mall, amazing light shows!
Great mix of companies and offerings, right on the Chicago River.
Incredible selection of high end furnishings! Gave me ideas for my own home.
Nice and renovated food court.
Upgraded a lot since the last time I had been there.
Very nice and clean shopping center that also can take you directly to the Holiday Inn.
great art on the outside of the building, great to see the show
Had a good time at the outdoor market.
Good products but I had to wait 5 minutes to find some help in a shop, at the end somebody from another shop went to call a sales assistent.
Such beautiful view of the city
It keeps me dry when i walk through it to get to my job on the other side of the river.
This sis where the mob would do it's weekly milk and eggs runs. Much history here.
Huge, tons of design resources, exhausting, geared much more toward interior design than architecture. For professionals, not a shopping mall.
I work there, beautiful place
Merchandise Mart has been continually upgrades since I've lived here and the building has more amenities than ever, including indoor maps with turn-by-turn Googe-like directions.
Large variety of vendors
Artwork beautiful, so many food options, love the Keifer store!
Huge selection of food places. Navigating the elevators can be confusing for first time visitors.
I work here but even the food and store options make it so easy to find everything in one place.
Very interesting collection of businesses located in the building. Home to a very successful business incubator.
I am an Interior Designer and I need this place. First floor is open to public
Nice place, nice food court
Overall pretty great mall!
Keeps getting better, but could use work. 1) easier access to station, especially for ADA and strollers. 2) getting downstairs from the food court in that crappy staircase is horrible. 3) dump the smokers on the east entrance
These guys need to specify better driver instructions .....
Very broad selection of showrooms and food. Marshalls Landing has an interesting bleacher seating section for sitting and working, or messing about on your phone
Great place for interior shopping
A great example of the future of working spaces
If you are looking for modern vanities, cabinets, or even kitchen and bathroom accessories this is the place!
A remarkable collection of furniture and interior design shops, all under one roof.
Great place to work downtown.
Awesome place for a holiday market! Great architecture, city icon!
Largest building in the world! Once Owned by the Kennedys til 1998
Nice place to sit down and relax. Also alot of eating places
Was there for One of a kind show.. Huge space bright and busy
Artisan Cellars is a must if you need a good bottle of wine.
The Merchandise Mart is also a food lover's oasis by the Chicago River. There are many Chicago food specialties inside the Merchandise Mart Food Court yard. Epicureans delight in food at the Merchandise Mart.
Downtown Chicago is so Beautiful..
Perfect historic building to explore in Chicago.
The Food is good, the lounge is great and the CTA acess makes this place even better
Good place to have breakfast
I love the food court . Lot of nice restaurants.
Problem of the parking, they will send you to the loading dock which is on Kinzie need some extra time
A great place food and drinks..love it customer service is the best!
Clean and easy to get to. Lots of shops and food choices
Work there. Good food court. Very expensive furniture, but top-end
Great food court, Brown & Purple lines stop right at the building and great history
Came for the One of A Kind show. Have a great time every year we go.
Great place to learn the latest trends
The mart can be extremely overpriced, but I think most people come to expect that. protein bar and McDonald's are probably your cheapest options food wise.
Lively, and everything convenient for office tenants. "L" stops at 2nd floor entrance.
Sitting area at Marshall's landing is great and great selection on the second floor for food
Super interesting place. Everything you’d want to see.
Lots of lovely memories every-time I pass this miracle cloud!!!
Iconic, gigantic, & lively. Can not imagine any other workplace than this.
Amazing and huge place. This an iconic Chicago building.
Great to be working in an iconic building
I have never been. Would like to go one day.
Lots of food options, great location, great views of the Chicago River!
A lot of home and commercial furniture and design stuff. Food court is decent at best.
Historic. When the apocalypse happens, this place will be a stronghold.
Attended the Casual Market Fair at the Merchandise Mart- Professional organisation and providing all the amenities needed
Some great showrooms here
Love going to the Neo Com show in spring. Can't wait for this year
Great veiws of the river and lots of pleasant places to get coffee or wait
A nice variety of shopping and eatery! Cant wait to go back!
This place has a variety of house appliances on first floor. Food court is available also on the second floor.
Very cool place
Good but not so good
One of a kind show is a great place to find unique gifts
A neat food court and sitting area upstairs, with easy access to the brown line.
Impressive structure at beautiful location
Good restaurant options.
Nice food court on the 2nd floor. Great gym on 9th
Recent renovations and additions make this a destination and not just a train station.
I work there indirectly
Largest building in the world for a long time
EVERYTHING! I LOVED working Here! I LOVED shopping Here!! I TRULY LOVED finding home DECORATIONS HERE!!!
always at merchandise mart on thursdays at billy goats buying burgers excellent cheese burgers
Great mall in huge historic building with the characteristic architecture of the '30s
It's big and you can find what you are looking for!!
Awesome place to get motivated and hearing some great ideas.
Awesome office building. Largest in the world and completely modernized
The Merchandise Mart building so large, it used to have its own zip code. Today, theMart is a humongous collection of wholesale showrooms. Best to go on a weekday when everything is open.
