Reviews of Riverwalk
Nice area
We loved it, it was a very easy walk and place to enjoy and admire the architecture of Chicago, it's breath taking and very peaceful. Everywhere you can see a place to sit, meditate if you like and enjoy the all the river has to offer. The Riverwalk is nice in the evening right then is getting ready to get dark. The buildings are amazing. People are nice and everywhere you got to can find an excuse to take beautiful pictures of new and old architecture. The styles are so different and complex. It is just beautiful!
The Chicago Riverwalk is so beautiful. If it's your first time visiting Chicago the Riverwalk is the perfect way to experience some of the most beautiful parts of the cities. There's plenty of places to sit down and relax, grab a bite of food, and just enjoy the atmosphere. They have water taxis and guided tours you can take, but it's just as fun if you decide to go on a walk with one of your friends and just take your time.
The color of the water is so gorgeous and unique due to the plankton and other marine life that make their home here. You can also take a subway train a few blocks away so you don't need to drive and park in the city when visiting here. I highly recommend stopping by if you find yourself in Chicago.
Absolutely beautiful, relaxing. Find yourself a seat on the very top of the amphitheater like seating overlooking the river with a cup of coffee or drink from one of the cafés along the stretch, take a small cushion or folded blanket to soften the pressure of hard concrete on the butt and retreat into your zen watching the paddle boaters and river cruise ships going up and down the river. The skyscrapers are impressive and simply beautiful to look at at nights.
It's really nice and enjoyable. Even though we went on April, it was really cold and windy. The walking path was but in some places some construction work was going on. The view is awesome, with the combination of old and new buildings. We started working from Millennium Park, alongside the lake and then took the River Walk, it's quite a long walk but it's nice.
Great tourist attraction. Friendly for kids, adults, and a good area for date night, girls night out or just to relax and enjoy your favorite beverage by the water.
Essentially there is something for everyone from Kayaking, boating, water tours, museums, music, food, drinks, etc.
One of a kind. One of the most beautiful walks in the world. Plenty of outdoor cafes and bars. A MUST SEE if you are visiting in summer. Take a boat cruise while you're here. Enjoy the most iconic architecture in the world. Rarely over crowded. Always pleasing.
Overall, walking along the river walk was an enjoyable experience. It could have been kept cleaner but that's more indicative of Chicago rather than the Riverwalk specifically. The Riverwalk gives you an opportunity to skip waiting for lights while having a more interesting perspective.
So much to do and experience here. The Chicago Riverwalk is where a fun day begins and ends. This family friendly area has it all. Activities, entertainment, restaurants, and shopping. Amazing views of the Windy City and the Chicago River, so get your cameras ready. Take a bus or riverboat tour, munch on the classic deep dish pizza or a Chicago hotdog, and take in the beauty of the Chicago Skyline with all it's architectural marvels. Add the Chicago Riverwalk to your itinerary.
We came two days after they dyed the water green. Even though nothing is open to enjoy other than walk it was still clean, enjoyable and fun to see the water so bright and vivid. I love coming here in the summer to get a cocktail or a snack. We also enjoyed it this year around Christmas time to see all the beautiful lights. Always a must when in Chicago.
Chicago is a pretty expensive city. However, to admire its worldwide famous skyscrapers and river scenery you don't need a penny.
Just enter the Riverwalk at any place and follow it. You'll pass by many astonishing buildings and see them from another perspective.
We did it early morning and at night - felt safe all the time.
This is one of the best things we did when we were in Chicago. Even though you miss everything never miss the architectural boat ride in Chicago. Make sure you do it just before sunset, you will get two different experiences when on the way up and down.
very nice and peaceful. quiet and I loved walking around. the view was outstanding. plenty of places to eat or shop. I wish I could have seen it at night but even during the day it's very beautiful.
If you are looking to explore the beauty of Chicago, a morning run or a stroll along the city, then the river walk is the best choice. You can walk alongside the river with the sight of majestic buildings and amazing restaurants. I always enjoy walking here with the calming waters of the Chicago river.
Big skyscrapers, dark blue sea and nice view!
Here I took one of the most beautiful photos I've ever taken.
If you are looking for a nice place to share on social media, this is the place for you.
River walk is super nice anytime. But especially at night in the summer. The city lights are very beautiful and it's a great place to walk and take night photos and videos.
Great place to spend time. Lot of fun to walk side of the road. You have options to get drinks and food. Also, can get boat rides. It looks great during night time with all the different lighted buildings.
Loved this view of the city! I think that the best way to view the Riverwalk is on an architectural boat tour. I'd recommend going on the last tour offered so that you can get some nice photos of the city all lit up at night. Make sure that you take a hoodie or blanket as it tends to get chilly on the river as the sun goes down. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
The Chicago River Walk is a great way to move through the city. There are many restaurants, snack shacks and ice-cream vendors along the way. Plus amazing sightseeing! FOLLOW ME for more thoughtful recommendations as I travel the world 🌎 …
Great vibe and place for please walk. Open air bars , canoeing, scenic river boat trip. Can walk to lake shore and if have enough energy to millennium park. On a beautiful day great place to walk , explore and see the buildings.
Highlight of my trip to the Chicago area! Absolutely beautiful walk along the river with lots of cute shots, benches, and beautiful skyscrapers. I went at twilight, so the lights turning on in all the buildings was particularly pretty. Very fancy and pleasant walk along the river!!
STUNNING. And free. The Riverwalk makes Chicago compelling and unique. The clever integration of business - particularly the riverside restaurants, shops, ghost tours, and boat tours - along both sides makes the Chicago River a living water highway. GORGEOUS at night, and a must-see to really experience Chicago.
I was there during the week and it was quiet and real nice. Came back on friday night and it was all vibrant and lively ( bar, music, restaurants). Feel safe as you will encounter security and police often. Loved the feeling.
One of the great walk I had in my life. Try to start from one end better from the Michigan lake side and come to the center where 3 branches of river comes together (where the riverwalk ends). This is very scenic walk and you will get lots of places for perfect pictures. Most important do it in the evening.
So much fun!! Music and drinks from different restaurants. Just fun to walk along the river and see the boats and guide services. A lot of history!!! Would recommend to walk a was to see the buildings and also the boats. We went and sunset tines and just so much fun!
Lovely views of downtown Chicago, plenty of restaurants by the river and you could literally spend the entire day and night here and it still won’t be enough. Stunning city and definitely one to visit!
The Best River walk of them all. The Wife and I go to enjoy the views as many times as We can. Usually We will park as far west as We can and walk all the way to Navy Pier and back. Always a great time and great excersize for the both of Us.
Chicago riverfront is among the nicest in country if not the best... You have the lake right there and can see all the top buildings in city. There are also many tours that take you on a boat along the water. Just don't go when its cold
Beautiful!!!! A must go if you are visiting Chicago. Please, take a tour, you will enjoy it to the max, it shows you the city from all different angles. 😍😍😍😍 loved Chicago!! …
Riverwalk in Chicago is so nice. Certainly one of the highlights. Very cosy atmosphere. Different cafes/bars. Beautiful views. Do it during the day but also during the night!
Beautiful area to explore, shop, eat, and take pictures at. If you have time, about 75mins, take a tour of the riverwalk. Highly recommend to take on the first day so as you start to venture out you have a great idea of the architecture and history that surrounds the city.
It is beautiful, full of things to do between food, drinks and chill. Boat taxis are a thing so you can even get that experience and the architecture tour is great!
When you're in Chicago, this is a must do item. The Riverwalk has such a nice vibe and it's right next to Magnificent Mile if you're up for some shopping or just walking around in the city to enjoy some views. You can walk along the Chicago River or take a mini cruise tour on the river itself. Both are very great options! I highly recommend to visit the Riverwalk if you're in Chicago.
Wow! Beautiful city lights and a wonderful chilled vibe. The riverwalk is buzzing with positivity and life! Check out the Tiki bars and boat rides. Lots of fun to be had. Awesome spot for some people watching!
Energy, fun, rive , boats and cafes! It doesn’t get better than this. Best place we hung out in Chicago. The cafes alongside the river at the best places to grab a drink or some food. On the north side there are a few upscale places to dine overlooking the river and on the south side there are so many cafe, winery, and brewhouses for a fun summer day.
There are so many different boats to get on the water, including the architecture tour, short or long larger boats and many private ones for smaller groups as well as kayaks. Really fun space for all ages.
Spectacular place with a beautiful view and a lot of restaurants along the river walk. You can also take a cruise ride to see the important buildings and it's architecture details of Chicago.
Chicago Riverwalk is not just the walkway along the river but it is one of the most beautiful outdoor space in downtown Chicago with public arts, boat tours, kayak rentals, open green spaces, museums, pier fishing and scenic restaurants surrounded by skyscrapers.
When we visited in the first week of May, many restaurants, cafes and some of the establishments were closed, which are seasonal. Chicago Riverwalk is the treasured natural amenity with world famous architecture all around. We walked all the way to Navy Pier and came back where we parked our car.
The City of Chicago exists because of Lake Michigan and many river systems. This is one of the most important river systems for Chicago. After taking heavy lunch, we strolled along the picturesque river in a beautiful weather.
No doubt, Riverwalk has become very popular and star attraction both for locals and tourists.
The river is beautiful and when the weather is nice, this is one of the best places to be in the city. You can grab a drink and watch the boats and it's easily accessible from anywhere in the city. We had a blast!
Another beautiful walk with lots to see and experience. Plenty of seating along the way, so much fun to be had. Treat yourself and go here.
Gorgeous and Amazing Sceneries!
I loved it especially the time that I went here around mid-October the weather is perfect not that hot or cold. What I also like here that it’s very easy to walk around and tons of places to enjoy and admire the architecture of Chicago, it's breath taking and very peaceful cause got never got crowded at all. Everywhere you’ll find some place to sit and you will definitely love it while sipping your favourite drink while enjoy the all the river has to offer. The Riverwalk is also stunning in the evening because of the lights and buildings. People are nice here also as a part of LGBTQ+ Community I felt safe around here. Take tons of pictures cause every hour is different mood!
Recommend it? Yes ✅
The 1.25-mile long path has been constructed in phases over time and includes four distinct districts; The Confluence, The Arcade, The Civic, and the Esplanade. Lots of people out exercising, but there was enough space so it didn't feel crowded. This is one the nicest urban trails you'll find in the world. It's one of the highlights of Chicago.
The river walk genuinely holds some of the most amazing feats of architecture in the United States of America. It displays an array of amazing skyscrapers built by some of the best architects and in the world. If you haven’t gone to the river walk yet I highly highly HIGHLY recommend it. Plus there are plenty of nice boat tours that will explain all the eye catching buildings much better than I ever could. So go… like right now.
River walk in the evening. Not so crowded. Pleasant stroll along the river. The night-view is certainly as brilliant as daytime.
very very beautiful, beautiful than more I can think. I feel melt in the view, the air, the water... I can't how to use words to describe, come Over here and feel.
The most beautiful part of Chicago, especially at night, but also by day.
Nice places to eat too, with patios and wonderful views.
Really majestic, cannot miss when visiting.
Very nice place to sit and chill by the river! Maybe buy a coffee and have a good conversation on an afternoon! :)
The aqua color is just so soothing to look at!
The Riverwalk is a must-see and must-do tourist attraction! Brings your good walking shoes and get ready for lots of things to see and do! Beware, it can get busy so be patient and simply enjoy the sites and sounds. Lined with brew pubs, wineries, distilleries, gelato, water park, sitting areas, and even areas to fish off of - there’s something for everyone. No bikes are allowed so you’ll be safe walking amongst many locals who use the walk as their dog walk, Their pre or post work run, or even their lunch hour getaway. Lots of places to enjoy take out lunch or dinner. Live music posted weekly. Light show against the market building. Watching all the river tours and kayakers are fascinating. So much to do - give yourself lots of time.
The last time i went was for St Patricks day to see the river dyed green. Better during summer for sure, with all the places along the walk open.
I always use spot hero to find parking in a garage. Unfortunately, the cheapest is around 14$ for a couple of hours, just a few blocks away.
This place is absolutely beautiful! So very crowded but beautiful. Lots of places to eat and sit outside. Will be back for sure!
This place was one of the best things the city did. Its so charming and all yhe little stores are nice. It's really nice to walk along the river to sunny day or really any time of year except the dead of winter. It's a treat to walk there at night as well to see all the lights and reflections on the building. I live in the city and still make sure to visit the Riverwalk a few times a year.
Had family in from out of town, so took them to NAVY PIER. We decided on the ARCHITECTURAL TOUR boat ride. It was a gorgeous day & my guests absolutely loved it. Do the single deck boat it you can, you can get some shade towards the back of boat.
Chicago Riverwalk was definitely one of our favorites to do in town! We kept coming back because we just couldn't have enough of it.
Such cool vibes to walk around the river! A lot of places to sit (or walk or run!), nice breeze, nice restaurants along the way and nice tour activities such as the boat tours and kayaking (we were there during Summer. Not sure how it is in other times of the year).
One of the best and most scenic view in Chicago from near by the River. The best part is the beauty is different in day and in the night time.
One of the best experiences in Chicago. The weather was great, the people are friendly and the views are spectacular!! Loved my week staying here.
Amazing tours to see the night as the sun sets. Beautiful! A complete opposite tot he signature lounge which shows you the views from the highest parts of the city. This river is from the bottom and I’d full of life
Fantastic place to go for a nice stroll in the evening, or in the morning, or anytime of day for that matter. Beautiful views of the skyline and excellent opportunities for photography both make for a most delightful bit of well spent time. Definitely a must visit if you’re in Chicago. The city lights at night are especially gorgeous!
Beautiful scenery in a beautiful town. River looks beautiful and clean. Restaurants and seating around the river is great.
Take a short tour of the riverwalk !
Very awed at the city construction of Chicago! To me , this city seems to be more advanced than most of the cities in the world! All those skyscrapers all those wide roads! Very unlike from the cities I came from !
The tall buildings in Chicago say for this city a renowned reputation !
The river s color is very pretty ! City did a good job treating the water !
River cruise is expensive (42 per adult )
River tax is done for the season ! What a shame !
Don’t know if I will come back to this city again !
It is a beautiful city but its traffic drives me nuts !
The river walk is such a fun place to visit. You can walk at a leisurelypace, taking in all of the atmosphere. It's a wonderful walk.
A nice place to take a stroll. Few Souvenir stores. Great views of the city skyscrapers.
It was the best way for us to see the architectural beauty of the area. We couldn’t do the boat tours because of our dog.
Beautiful, relaxing area with lots of plants and benches to picnic while listening to music and enjoy the sunshine
A beautiful area to visit. Many bars and eateries along the way. Catch the river bost tours from many different spots. Do it at night for AMAZING views.
One of my favorite places in Chicago. The atmosphere is just amazing. Many restaurants, music, perfect vibes for the weekend.
Lovely walk along the river, even though it was raining a bit. Plenty of options for food and drinks, sightseeing boats, or just people watching. The river is a beautiful sea blue/green color, and so interesting that it is runs through the middle of the city. We stopped at Northmans for a snack and a drink, prior to taking an architectural boat tour.
Have to give it to Chicago. By far the cleanest downtown of a big city I've seen in a long time. Do the architectural river tour to see all the amazing buildings.
One of the most scenic places to visit. Also recommend taking the architectural boat tours.
Fantastic! A great place for a stroll to clear your head, level set, recharge, stop for a bite to eat, perhaps some entertainment…there may nothing like Chicago in the Summertime!
An amazing place to go for jogs, walks with pets. Can do workouts on the grass area at the end of the walk. There are alot of restaurants on the way. Can go for kayaking on the river or an architectural river tour.
Chicago has such beautiful buildings and skyline. I highly recommend the Architecture cruise.
Do not miss this walk next to the Chicago River! The view is simply breathtaking! You can enjoy drinks or ice cream and sit to relax !
Great Riverwalk. Beautiful views. A few places to get a drink and sit outside along the river. Plenty of people watching and boat watching. Most fun thing to do is watch inexperienced kayakers try to dodge boats. It's hilarious. Probably one of my favorite things to do in Chicago is walk along the river and stop in for a drink at a few places along the way. Lot of fun. I'll be back again and again.
Breathtaking place, beautiful and Full of colors. Many taverns, place to rest, fun, canoe and ship.
If you're downtown Chicago, you should go walk the Riverwalk. Great views of the buildings along the river as well as great walking access to Navy Pier. There are spots along the way where you can buy drinks and food, and couple areas specifically designated for kids play. North side will walk you out to Navy Pier and south side will walk you out to a marina for private boats.
Amazing view, unfortunately me that I went just for Lollapalooza and I didn’t have time to do kayak! But that is something pending a reason to come back!!!
Awsome views of Chicago and the river. We at at O'Brians and the food was great. They also have boat tours and a tiki bar with huge connect 4 games and bean bag toss.
The architect boat ride was a great way to experience the beauty of the city. The boat was Chicagos Classic Lady. The volunteer tour guide loves what she does. Great way to start your trip to Chicago
Nice place for a quiet, very late night evening walk. If and when that is manageable in this area (normally very busy during regular day/evening hours). Beautiful views of the buildings.
For the 3'd time we chose to spend a glorious day on the River with the Architecture Tour boat. Everytime we learn more of the incredible architecture that makes Chicago unlike any city in the USA , if not the world.
Awesome place to see the city view. Strech beside the river, quite happening. Also the spot where all the architecture boat rides happen. The area hosts many tall sky scrapers including the Trump tower and some popular high funda hotels. There are plenty of eating options, recreational activities. The place is absolutely happening specially after evening. Adding to the charm of this place is some of the street music being playing around this place. The place is usually super crowded. A must visit place if in Chicago.
I love this place. Great for pictures, good food and a nice walking space.
Perfekt spot for strolling around and having a drink. We liked it very much. It also offers an awesome view to the skyline.
This river walk has dramatically changed in the last several years. I remember coming down here when I was young and it was not a lovely place. But now it’s all remodeled and there’s lots of restaurants, entertainment, seating, and great views all along it. Make sure to take a stroll in the morning before it gets busy.
Great place for a walk, run or brunch on the weekends. Also don’t forget the boats and cycleboats.
We walked the full length of the Riverwalk, stopped for a drink, and walked more. Love all the improvements, additions, and variety of bars and restaurants.
This place is great for a walk along the river and if you feel like stopping for a snack & drinks you will find many options align the way. Also a good place to rent kayak if you like it ... During the weekend and summer can be packed but still beautiful.
Beautiful place to walk and relax! You can go on the amazing river tours and learn a lot about the city history.
Really eye catching view of the skyscrapers can be enjoyed from these riverwalk.. You can walk, or just relax by sitting or can have some food from riverside food stall..
The river is beautiful! Many restaurants and areas to sit along the river. Felt very safe.
This place is an awesome family friendly adventure. There are exciting discoveries for adults and kids. Whether it be the stops at the well curated play structures or amazing views, there is something for everyone.
It's a lovely experience to walk through this area and sit and do some people watching.
A must see in Chicago! Great place to walk or ride a scooter. Plenty of restaurants and bars. Must take a river tour!
We had a fun riverboat tour of the many impressive buildings in Chicago! It was very cool, and our guide was quite knowledgeable and funny! I highly recommend!
Very nice stop to enjoy the city, at the sametimecan be improved with more greens, flovers and landscapes. Worth to visit
Love walking along the river walk, especially at night. My only gripe is that some areas of the riverwalk are pretty narrow compared to other parts of the walk, so it can get congested. Really great place for photos too.
Great place for a stroll on a beautiful day. Food, drinks m, sightseeing boats and people wat hing.
The best views of the city. I recommend going on one of the architector boat tours to get the best views, photos and learn all about Chicago's beautiful buildings and skyscrapers.
Nice way to see downtown, relax, and get educated on the Chicago River Cruise.
Just a really cool place to walk around. Weather was perfect and there's tons of little restaurants to grab a quick bite or must sit with a drink and enjoy the day.
Very nice and clean walking area by the river. Many restaurants along the way. Must walk if you are in Chicago downtown.
The riverwalk is a beautiful and easy walk. Lots of places to stop along the way to grab a drink or food. Nice wide pathways and easy to maneuver stairs and ramps. Very clean too.
It is wonderful to get to know Chicago from another perspective that going on a boat gives you, I fell in love with the architecture of the city and that combination of new and old buildings.
Bequtiful. Take da walk or one of the boat tours, you will not regret it!
Beautiful. One of the best features of one of America's best cities. It's like a clean times square on water.
such a pleasure to walk alongside the River and enjoy attending to bars and restaurants around this part of the Amazing Chicago!!!
Lovely place walk. It is right next to the water and at some points you can get close enough to put your feet in. There are many different vendors and drink stands built into the walls that offer refreshments as well as public restrooms. Highly recommend visiting.
Make sure to go on a architectural boat tour while here. The history is amazing to hear about.
Love the view of the buildings with river in the middle. We ate by the riverwalk and enjoyed the view.
Wow! I love this Riverwalk. The views of the skyscrapers and the river itself are so beautiful. I also love the industrial style bridges over the river with the street names. Lots of cool places to stop along the way as well.
Very peaceful environment with lots of options for bars and food within walking distance.
We went on the 90 minute boat tour. Very interesting especially for tourist!!!
There are a lot of rental agencies available to take you on a tour through the river walk. I rented through Mercury for $40 pp. I had a really great time with my family, and Sarah, the tour guide, gave an excellent architectural tour filled with fun facts. It’s a must in the city and I recommend booking the 5 pm tour so you can get to see the sunset.
You can travel all over the world like I have, and I still find Chicago to be one of the greatest cities on this planet.
Must do if you are in Chicago, take a river cruise. You will take nice pictures.
A great way to see the skyscrapers and the skyline. Good photo opps.
Great place to take a walk or even bike. Make sure to stop at the restaurant for a quick bite and a drink.
What a beautiful sight! Truly, right in the city this is amazing! Beautiful architecture, beautiful river, bridges, and buildings. Super fun walk,, really quite an experience to be around those huge buildings right by the water...
Very pretty and relaxing to walk along the river banks. There's a lot of places to eat or shop alongside the river. If your are a tourist make sure you get someone to walk you through the architecture as you cruise along the river on a water taxi. Also I hear that on St Patrick's day they dye the river green. Definitely worth a second visit.
Beautiful spot! Tons of different boats for tours. Restaurants with great scenery. The architecture is gorgeous no matter where you look. A must stop in downtown Chicago.
Beautiful view of the Chicago architecture
Amazing during night time!!
Good vibes, amazing views. You can walk, or have a seat and sight see. Also various vendors and boat tours along the way. 👍 * Shared pics that don’t spoil the views 😉 …
Beautiful path along the river with multiple opportunities for shopping and drinking during your constitutional. Particular love to the Northmen at their biergarten near the lake.
What an amazing place with so many cool bars and views of this fab city
Had not been to the Riverwalk in quite some time (my travels downtown don't really take me that way all that much). Could not believe wealth of things to do, eat, drink and see. Lots of rest locations, good lighting, they refinished the tunnel heading to the end of the dock (I enjoyed this greatly). Definitely worth the walk.
Really nice area with lots of shops and attractions to check out
Nice walk along the river, places to stop for food and drinks. The restrooms could use attention. Nice views on a nice sunny day
The Riverwalk is beautiful as the sun goes down... ideal to listen music, a bit of wine under the stars! the calm of the water transmits peace.
Beautiful city and its scenery next on my list is wings of Mexico on Michigan ave
Excellent walk experience, very nice seeing downtown especially at night.
Very enjoyable time here love it and the weather was perfect.
tell you what, this is the most beautiful city in the US. Come check it out.
Absolutely amazing experience of magnificent Chicago architecture, iconic buildings and the river crossed by multiple bridges. If you are in Chicago this is definitely A MUST see.. Many caffees and restrumes along the way. The picture you will take along this trail are breathtaking just like the views! You will take them in your memory for many ywars to come.
An amazing way to stroll along the river. Come in the morning, when it's empty and quiet. Once you get into the afternoon you have traffic noise, lots of people strolling, and crowds at the sections where tour guides congregate to load and upload boats.
Clean, gorgeous path makes for an easy stroll. You get the breeze from the river and an amazing view of the buildings.
so beautiful and awesome to visit. pet friendly as well, calm atmosphere.
Love the riverwalk, we took a mercury night cruise, it was beautiful
A gorgeous place to wander through! The water has lots of activity with boats and the walk is full of people and restaurants and shops. It’s quite a unique and romantic place. Definitely worth a boat ride or tour if you can swing it.
Beautiful river walk on nice sunny day…Best way to explore Chicago 👌🏼 …
Great place for a short walk alongside the riverside.
A nice walk with the best view- walk along the river, see Chicago's amazing architecture and grab a drink and snack at one of the bars along the river walk.
River walk...most enchanting place..to walk/ run..both in the morning as well as evening!!
Enjoy my Saturday walking and touring Chicago River Cruise
a great place to hangout, beautiful views and chilling vibes ✨
Beautiful space in the city: restaurants, views and people-watching in this iconic city.
A must when visiting Chicago! Good food, refreshing drinks and people watching! What more can you ask for? Boat rides, tours, canoeing? They got that too!
Great place to be if you are in the Chicago area. Easy access to places to eat, and bus and river tours as well as paddle boat tours. Lovely views while dining you can grab a beer or cider at one of the places along the river walk. They have lots of seats along the river walk to just sit and people watch or chit chat or watch the sunset . Riverwalk closes at 11 pm
The Riverwalk was cool. Lots of cute tiki bars line it, and the drinks there were delicious! The river itself was very clean, and huge! We followed the Riverwalk to the park, which was a beautiful walk.
Experiencing the Chicago Riverwalk was one of the highlights of our trip! It's beautiful! There are restaurants and places to sit and enjoy the sights. We definitely enjoyed it!
What a fun way to spend time in Chicago. Great views, food and boat ride to see the dites
Always a fun time walking on the Riverwalk! Lots of great people watching opportunities both walking around and on the river. Some good seating areas both in shade and in sun, and generally people will leave you alone. Restaurants along the river here tend to be a bit more pricey (this is a touristy area) but if you want to bring food from elsewhere it is a nice spot to eat.
Simply stunning and gorgeous. Now I know where the inspiration for Dubai Marina comes from.
Best views of north river!amazing
Wide open waking spaces and the views are amazing!
Great views and atmosphere, plus plenty of food and drink options.
Chicago holds a special place in my heart for its simple beauty.
If you are looking to grab a quick bite, drink a few adult beverages, hang out with friends, or play lawn games, the Riverwalk can provide you with hours of entertainment.
Even if you are not partaking in food/drink, the Riverwalk is the perfect place to take a walk. The views are amazing, it's clean, and safe.
The Chicago Riverwalk is so delightful. We're visiting at the end of June and beginning of July and couldn't ask for better weather. There are so many wonderful shops, restaurants, and activities to see and explore. Also, the photo opportunities are endless, so much to see. We never felt crowded or unsafe. It was a very pleasant stroll for a few miles. I highly recommend this as a must visit. It's free so it's hard to say no to it. In addition, I believe you can catch a few boat rides from down there as well.
The place is breathtaking. You have good views, decent food and a long place to walk with great views.
The constant cruise ships with loudspeakers may be a bit of a distraction but overall an awesome place to visit in summer.
Unbelievable place! The history and the beauty surrounding the river is a site to see! Have a drink and enjoy the views!!!!!
A lot of walking but Definitely worth it.
Nice walk and great view of Chicago buildings
What is there to say. We did the architecture boat tour. Amazing. The history of Chicago is fascinating. It was hot this summer. But we enjoyed every minute of it. Check out the local cafes and restaurants in the area. Two thumbs up. Will definitely visit again.
Outstanding urban amenity. We saw tons of people running and walking their dogs throughout the day. As the day goes on, more and more food and drinks locations open for people passing by or getting on a river tour. By evening it's a great spot for night life. Definitely tourist-centric, but the diversity of languages and types of people enjoying the river was great. Walked with some locals who expressed their happiness that visitors see something like this when they visit the city.
The Riverwalk was so relaxing and beautiful at night. We will be coming back.
Very nice and beautiful. If you walk you can enjoy the atmosphere around. If you take a sit you’ll experience nice views of the river. Or just take a boat ride. It was not crowded at 5 pm Saturday, maybe it was a special day… sitting with a cup of coffee there was amazing.
Great place, for coming back one and thousand times.
Amazing place. Must come
Don’t eat here. Drinks are great. Vibes are spectacular especially at night. Take a boat tour if you can. Even better rent your own private boat or kayak
Beautiful walkway along the Chicago River. Food and drinks were pretty good but a little pricey. The locks museum was interesting... Definitely worth $6 for the view and the history (free for young kids). My main complaint is that it could be more accessible... Lost a star because...We had a wagon and it was hard to get up and down. Some of the ramps were even closed which I imagine is a big barrier for wheelchairs so if you have one plan around that.
A nice use of space. The utilization of "underground" / under bridge spaces for commercial locations was very clever.
The handicap access points were integrated in a nice way IMHO.
Other than lacking troll related art under bridges, done extremely well.
That is called architectural tour covering architecture of the buildings and their history covered by the guide.
It is 75 minutes tour in the artificial canal from Michigan lake. All the skyscrapers are along this canal. It starts from the lake and ends in the lake very beautiful and knowledge tour about Chicago and its history. Very pleasant weather and surroundings. It is worth 45 dollars per head.
We were not the only ones who decided to take in the Riverwalk on a cool summer day. There was a steady stream of "traffic" on the walk and the river. Plenty to see if you like people-watching and checking out what restaurants, shops and stalls they have along this stretch. We stopped at Brewhouse for lunch, which is associated with Liz Garibay's brewseum.
The Riverwalk near Michigan Avenue is a really amazing area. It's a wonderful place to walk and see the sights. It's a great place to see the architecture and history of Chicago. I definitely recommend spending some time here during the summer.
It was nice. Plenty of bikes to rent. $25 bike tours. Super nice beaches near the Riverwalk. It's all great! All though, some people do like littering a lot on the Riverwalk. Someone through a soda can over the gates, and it hit the person's head. Stop littering if YOU did!
Beautiful spot to view the city from one of its best angles.
We love it and definitely going back!
Definitely alot to see. Be prepared to be surrounded by tons of people... joggers, tourists, locals, etc. Beautiful views of the city, with tons of places to eat along the way. Also tons of places to sit and catch your breath, or just relax and soak in the beautiful city.
Extremely Business for a Sunday but I totally enjoyed all the site's and viewing the Windy city
A super nice option to take a walk and see Chicago peer and shore.
I love walking along the river!
Always a great spot. Love the ambiance and great location for a beautiful walk.
If you are visiting Chicago, this is a must do. Rent a kayak, walk, people watch, get a chicago dog and cold beverage, you will enjoy your time here. Walk down to the marina for excellent views.
River walk is must when you are in downtown. Experience the threshold of architecture, watch boat riders. Eatries on the row are good to grab.
A beautiful place to walk outside in Chicago!! Very nice views
Nice little walk, pretty views
I mean find me a nicer walk if you love architecture and the Sunrise over the great lakes. Or a night time boat cruise adjacent it's shore. I enjoyed it immensely.
Good place for a brisk midday walk on Chicago's spring and chilly day. Plenty of stuff around to distract your from the weather, some of the most interesting architectural sights you can see"from the river".
I had great time visiting the river beautiful building with different shape and color recommended you to do the river bout they will till you about the history of each building. I will do it again if I could
It is a nice walk, or run if you up to it. There is music, food and more
This is one of the best areas in downtown Chicago. You don't have to spend a single dime to enjoy this walk that runs along side the river and beautiful views of Chicago's amazing architecture.
If you'd like you do have access to restaurants/bars etc.
Just loved it here, nice place for a stroll and a beer.
Beautiful scenery!!! Lots of options to eat and drink up and down the Riverwalk!!!
Fun place to enjoy the skyline and watch people pass by.
This place is simply wow! The heart of Chicago and the place where anyone can fall in love.
The huge river flowing between the tall buildings and so many bridges connecting everything, its amazing. The Riverwalk is the perfect way to admire the Chicago Architecture without any hurry by simply just walking or sitting by the side of river.
The night time was my favorite time to visit with the city lights shimmering on the river flowing beneath.
There are so many places to hangout throughout the four distinct districts. The restaurants and the bars along the path is great as well. Very nice and relaxing vibes.
Although i didn’t get time but next time I would definitely try kayaking as i am pretty sure it would be worth it
If you go to Chicago you have to go to the riverwalk. Fun people watching, seeing the boats and people kayaking. Fun restaurants and fun place to seat for awhile and relax.
Historical boat tours along the river a must do when in Chicago
Loved visiting Chicago and walking the Riverwalk. We also took the Architecture River Boat Cruise. The weather was perfect and we had an awesome day.
I adore Chicago One Amazing City
Nice walk but a bit overrated I think.
Jus finished 90min Chicago Canal Cruise. Had 60 on board. Masks req'd on entire 1/2m riverwalk & boat. Views, crew and narrator were exceptional. However, boat access for ♿ from street level was v a two story staircase drop and impossible for wheelchairs, walkers or ambulatory imitations. My fam did get a wheelchair which req'd 4-5 blks of walking to a ♿ ramp 3blk away. Lots of work for them w inclines. Can't believe city hasn't installed an elevator or more ramps. Possibly part of ongoing nearby construction. Do your homework if ♿. Otherwise a PERFECT place to stroll, take in incred skyline w many lunch n dinner options. V v v cool. See views from boat.
A whole different view of the city! Wait until 11 when shops and restaurants open though.
The Riverwalk provides a great place to walk, eat, listen to music and just watch it all go by. I recommend taking one of the many river/city cruises that you can and explore the history and architecture of Chicago. Some serve dinner, some serve only drinks, but either way, its a great way to pass some time in Chicago.
Despite living in the city for years, the Riverwalk never gets old. Even when busy and noisy, there's a weird sense of beauty and peace in this urban center. For tourists, you get to see business professionals walking to work/getting lunch, students walking to their next class, and everyday Chicagoans going about their day. The attraction isn't necessarily the Chicago river as it looks just about the same as any other body of water, but the atmosphere surrounding it is a great way to get a taste of what Chicago is about.
The Chicago River Walk concessions have begun a phase reopening! Walk the 1.25 miles path, take in the city's architecture, grab some food and drinks and maybe rent a cycle boat, Kayak or river cruise! Enjoy a full day of fun just steps away from River Point Park and Downtown Metro Chicago hospitality and lodging amenities.
Incredible architecture, fascinating views, points of interest, restaurants. Makes me wish my hometown (Ottawa) would follow suit. If you're in Chicago you really should take it in.
Pretty nice light displays. Plenty of food booths. Better for families with kids. However, very pricey $$$.
One of the most beautiful areas in Chicago, the river walk has a little bit of everything: nice places for you to eat, coffee shops and bars if you want to just grab a drink. You can access it from different entries across Wacker but if you want to enjoy one of its boat tours, the best entry is on the corner of E Wacker and N Michigan.
Chicago Riverwalk is my favorite... surrounded by iconic buildings and the green river gives you a refresh feeling. The river walk has so many restaurants and beautiful structures across the stretch. I love going for walks and enjoy the vibe.
Relaxing walk, the place near trump tower is very nice.
Picturesque spot in the river.
Walking around the coffee river with a coffee in hand is refreshing.
Must visit in Chicago.
Nice place/trail to take a walk along the river, admire, take pictures of Chicago's awesome and historical arquitecture buildings, great views of the city, history plaques, draw bridges, monuments and art pieces to admire, plenty of bars, beer gardens and places to take a bite, unfortunately due to Covid most places of those are shut down temporarily, never the less is a great stroll from lake to the end not too far from the old Sears tower, yes it has a new name but I like Sears Tower.
Favorite place to be during the summer. There's some many amazing pictures to be had here. Plenty of restaurants, events and great atmosphere. Whether to clear your head or a romantic date this area has it all. I enjoy people watch alone the river walk while enjoying wine from the outdoor bars in the area.
Not disappointed by the river, we did a boat tour and walked along sections of the river. Lots of history in this place.
The only bad thing was the freezing weather. A must do if weather permits.
I loved it. You can walk there for hours and enjoy the river . There are lots of places to have a coffee, a drink, something to eat. They are upgrading the Riverwalk and it will be even better. A must go if you visit the city. You can find a place to relax or a place to have fun with your friends. Wear your walking shoes and go for it.
My favorite bridges in Chicago 🥰 …
Best way to gaze at Chicago’s architecture without spending a penny. Lots of bars along the river walk and better avoid these. Exorbitant prices and nothing more. Better checkout the cruises and rowers on the river. Get a candy pop and enjoy the walk at your own pace.
Great place to walk around and sight-see, also they have little bars/eatery's to stop at during your walk.
I was on a cruise when a friend was moving his boat to his winter location at River City. What beautiful views we saw when going through the locks!
Love Chicago Riverwalk. Walked here many times and also did a free walking tour. Gorgeous architecture and buildings all around. Very iconic and excellent history of the river front. If you have time take the architecture boat tour as well. Loved that too.
Beautiful views. Great and diverse dining options. Kayak options. Few degrees cooler and quieter than street level.
Lots of Chicago specific dining options and local beers at Chicago Beau House.
Awesome views and restaurants
Amazing. Coffee, Beer-Garden, wine, hot dogs, river cruises, rental boats, couple of miles long walk...dog walk. So many different Architectural display...
Beautiful promenade lowered from the St level with great view of the Chicago river that stretch continuously on the south bank from W Lake St to N Lake Shore Dr (and Lake Michigan).
The park is divided to sections by the streets/bridges. The west sections are more for sitting and hanging out, the middle sections have more business like cafe, ice cream shops and bars, and the east sections are more kids friendly whith playgrounds and also have kayaks rental.
Great for walking (also with strollers or pets on leash), jogging or hanging out / picnic. Not for bicycles.
Pedestrian, pets (with a leash) and strollers are welcome, bicycle are not.
I'm glad that the city is finally opening back up after the Covid-19 epidemic. The Chicago Riverwalk is a very beautiful, calm and peaceful place to walk along and be when you want to unwind.
The fresh air and breeze of the Chicago River is very refreshing. If you're ever in Chicago, or looking for an outside space to just sit, walk or unwind. Then Chicago Riverwalk is the place to be.
The most beautiful walk.....best way to know the city as an outsider.....did you know Chicago was named after a funny smelling onion weed which was mispronounced as Chicagu. The most unexpected weather.....rains when rain isn't in the forecast! Awesome day out....cool food....calm beach....tall buildings....lovely weather....best day out!
I found the Chicago Riverwalk a beautiful sight. The area was clean with lots to see. There are several boat tours you can take to get a better idea of what to see. There is plenty of stores and restaurants to visit. Eventually it might be as good as San Antonio's Riverwalk.
Very nice view and quiet walk but all the shops and food places are closed in the winter
Beautiful walkway right on the river. Spectacular views with a path that's easy to navigate. City is working to restore the beauty of the river and it's clear the population is too and you see new buildings popping up all over. Highly recommend trying one of the architectural boat tours and get an in-depth view of the city and Riverwalk.
We got a chance to walk the whole way of the Riverwalk. It was a good walk throughout the city and stop by at all the street food stalls along the way. The food trucks are as awesome along the way.
A must do at Chicago. You will be able to either practice sports, have nice walks with impressive views, get a ticket for a cruise and have a nice meal in one of the many restaurants by the river shore. There are toilets along the walk and stairs to go up in the city
Very relaxing walk while enjoying the magnificent buildings architecture of the downtown Chicago. The riverwalk is one of the most enjoyable parts of the city where, in a good weather, you can really see so many things going on along the way. This is where you can feel the vibes of Chicago, the windy city, with its great buildings, coffee shops, the green river, the attractions and, of course, the people.
You can jog, walk or just stroll down the water front enjoying the boats passing by and sky scrappers above. Many sit down spots with food and drink throughout. This is where you will order your architecture boat tours from, as well kayak rentals if so desired.
Amazing views of the city. Great pier. Looking forward to visiting again in the summer.
You can't miss this. Even if it is as cold as when we tried it. Overwhelming, powerful scenery!
1.5 hour boat ride so it felt long for the kids but it was an enjoyable experience. Lots of information on the architectural tour.
I was staying at the Springhill suites downtown, looking for somewhere to eat my lunch break. The Riverwalk is an awesome spot to great a quick walk, a fantastic coffee and enjoy your lunch. I came here everyday during my stay. Great way to enjoy a bit of the city.
This place is breathtaking! Perfect for urban photoshoot. One can spend whole day with the beautiful view by the lake. I'll go there again.
A very cold January day but hubby and just happy walking along the river soaking up the buildings here in chiacgo
The views from the Riverwalk cannot be beat! Super clean space, very accessible.
I was at the CHA Senior Holiday Gala, Saturday December 11th; At Hyatt Regency 151 East Wacker
Very happening place in downtown Chicago. The river has a really cool greenish blue tint to it plenty of party boats architectural boat tours or just boats that pier hop you further along your way. Riding on the water through the city is a very cool experience. It's a very friendly atmosphere with a pleasant mix of business oriented people people walking their dogs riding bikes or exercising. More than a handful of places to stop and grab a drink or a bite to eat along the water outside. Spiral walkways that connect you back up to the city streets. Definitely something to stop by and check out while in Chicago I recommend stopping at one of the outdoor bars and grabbing a drink and watching the world go by It's a very relaxing atmosphere.
Big caveat: I was in Chicago in summer and the weather was amazing. The river walk is sensational - teaming with locals and tourists. There is the right amount of bars, food places and toilets along the way. There was also quite a few temporary public installations that had been set up for people to stop and enjoy life at. A must do for anyone visiting town.
Very nice walk with all the vibe, the architecture, the views.
I enjoyed walking along the river, looking at the boats, the traveling people, the tall buildings of Chicago. Great views are all around if you like photographing.
This is the best tour in Chicago
OUr guide Spiro did a great job not only because he has an immense knowledge about Chicago but because he is very intertaining..thanks you made our trip unforgettable.
From the lake to where Wacker Drive turn South is the Riverwalk. The only reason it doesn't have five stars is because the river still isn't that clean. Most of these photos were taken from the architectural boat tour. Highly recommended.
Free activity with tons of great dining/drink options along the way. Great views.
We loved walking downtown! I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the area. I was also surprised at the lack of homeless people around. I do not mean to be tacky, but Austin and Denver are downtown areas I will not be returning to due to the sheer number of aggressive homeless people all over, so thank you Chicago for making your downtown area nice for visitors. I think if you are in the area, you must stop and check it all out.
Excellent spot too take a leisurely stroll through the city while feeling like you’re also in a more laid back and relax mindset along the river. Numerous restaurants and bars complete a water lifestyle with tiki torches, palm decor, beach music etc. If you find entertainment in people watching, you could sit here all day long.
Yet another wonderful sight to behold, stroll or dine in at — Riverwalk is free to visit and offers considerable fun activities.
Chicago Riverwalk is enveloped in by High rise buildings including Trump Tower.
Cycle boats, Local Cruises, Water Taxis can be booked/rented on-site or online if you wish to explore more! But keep in mind some Water Taxis/Cruises are available until November only.
Sip your drinks by Lakeside restaurants, Cafes, and Bars.
We spent about an hour here strolling along and observing local cruises in the Lake.
One of the most beautiful destinations!! Food, music and the views - mesmerizing! If in Chicago, do come down to the riverwalk.
Just a nice place to be. Very clean and a good way to spend time in Chicago.
My favorite city amenity in Chicago. A beautiful and unique place to walk by the river and it is shaded most of the day. Watch the tour boats and kayaks. Peak daytime hours can be crowded, so I like it in the morning when it is quieter. It extends from West side loop and all the way to the lake. And it looks as it may connect to Millennium Park via a walk way on Google map. I really appreciate this scenic place to walk out of the city sidewalks.
Great vibes, plenty of restaurants and places to stay r oll.
Absolutely loved this beautiful stretch , perfect for running, relaxing , strolling or taking pictures , the river cruises are delightful to watch too
Leading up to our trip to Chicago and even since we arrived I've heard many say, be careful downtown. We parked at a Millennial Park garage and walked to The Bean and then to the river. We never felt unsafe. We took the river architecture cruise. It was great. We really enjoyed our afternoon on the Riverwalk.
The River walk is like the epicenter of Chicago. Seeing it evolve over 15 years dramatically it is now one of the most beautiful and active places for tourists and city folks. It is peaceful and safe at night. Lots of entertainment and places to relax along the Chicago River.
Walked here on a Saturday but it was not too crowded. A few people walking their dogs and going for a run. Lovely view of the Chicago skyline and a great spot for taking photos!
100 % percent recommended!!! If you want to run or walk this is the place! Amazing view in whole pathway! Lugar espectacular para caminar correr disfrutar del skyline de la ciudad!
The Riverwalk was very nice and clean. Loved watching the boats go by while sipping a beverage. Great day!
The Riverwalk has great sights, plenty of people, and has plenty of room to sit and rest
Excellent, safe way to enjoy downtown Chicago. Nice restaurants, bars available. Just a relaxing environment. Wish it was nonsmoking like San Antonio Texas
June 19th, 2022 best day ever! Beautiful weather, it's Father's Day and the Chicago Riverwalk is an eclectic, fun, food filled, people watching adventure not to be missed.
Amazing, beautiful walk, bars, restaurants, shades, kayaks, people...all come together to a wonderful experience..
Really liked the Riverwalk. Highly recommend walking this as far as you can. Especially if you have nice weather.
CHICAGO has done a great job cleaning up the river and this is a great way to see it
Beautiful walk. This is a nice place to go for a bit of exercise or pokemon go play. The walk along the river is very relaxing and has lots of small things to see like plaques and murals.
The night scene is even better with the light-scape. The whole stretch of skyscrapers along the river makes it unique and fabulous.
Chicago's Riverwalk is a fantastic destination. Enjoy the views, a leisurely walk, architectural sights and treat yourself to a bite to eat after exploring the wonderful scenes from river level. Fantastic at night!
This place was dope and neva been there before as I was visiting from tha West Coast. Fabulous scenery/views and can't wait to make it back when I have more time and its warmer!!
I had early morning walk , seeing sun rise was wonderful exy
The Chicago Riverwalk is showing its best color on St. Patrick's Day Celebration when the Plumbers' Hall go around motorboats , while dyeing the Chicago River in the color green. The Chicago Riverwalk has been improved with tourist amenities, facilities, and many other attractions for visitors and local residents to enjoy a strolling walk along the Chicago River. A wonderful tour for visitors to the Windy City!
The Chicago Riverwalk is a bustling place with lots of energy. I visited with a group on a Tues afternoon and I was surprised how crowded it was with sightseers and locals alike, although the weather was absolutely perfect that day and summer was late in coming to Chicago this year so that probably was a factor. We took the 1.5 hr architectural boat tour with Shoreline Sightseeing and really enjoyed it. You hop on the boat right off Michigan ave so it is very convenient. This is the best way to get a good look at the various buildings while enjoying some time on the water too! The guide was knowledgable and engaging, so learned a bit about the history of Chicago. I highly recommend it!
We really enjoyed the Riverwalk during our visit to Chicago. Early morning walks were lovely, quiet, and had far less foot and bike traffic than the afternoon. Plenty to explore along the lakefront as well. Would love to try kayaking on the river next time we're in town.
Chicago has a beautiful skyline. It's amazing, being from New York City (where the skyscrapers are marvel) in Chicago the architecture is a much nicer array of buildings. The colors vary (shades of blue and green) and it seems planned, whereas NY's is just too many overly tall buildings, packed together. Chicago wins, but I still love my Empire State!
The Architecture Tour was very informative. The view was spectacular. The boat was clean, and the bench was reclined appropriately to see toward the top of the buildings. The tour is rich in Chicago history.
A must if you are visiting chicago. A great place to take a leisurely stroll, snap memorable selfies taking advantage of the beautiful background.
It's awesome. The view is great. I super recommended.
Chicago Riverwalk is must visit. It covers all the skyscrapers in downtown through walkway. You can go for Riverwalk if you don’t wanna do architectural river ride. That’s option you can have! You can have great time at night too!
Beautiful architecture, boat and people watching.
Lots of views, shops all along the walk, a lot of sitting areas.
This was my favorite part of The Loop while visiting Chicago. The Riverwalk is beautiful and there's many places to stop to grab a drink or a bite to eat.
Very enjoyable walk, especially in the evening. Easy access, good for all ages.
Beautiful boat tour on the river
Great way to pass your day in Chicago. The cruises are a nice way to discover the architecture and history. You have different places to have a drink or grab a meal. Loved it!
It nice place to have a walk
It was everything I hoped it would Be! I wish I knew where the best areas for tourists were along the River Walk. We did take a boat tour though & a bus tour which had great information & facts.
A very cool urban walk. Great for people watching. Makes me want to go on a boat or kayak tour real bad. The coffee/beer/cafés are cute.
First time visiting Chicago? Then this is a must see/go!
The Chicago river walk offers a lot. Bars, cafes, lounging, rentals and beautiful views of sky scrapers and water.
Had a wonderful time on the Urban Architecture boat tour very informative and great commentary.
Amazing view with lots of restaurants that provide varieties of food. Nice ambience. One of the good place to spend your evenings with family/ loved ones/ friends.
We stayed in the holiday inn right next to the mart and the view of the Riverwalk was wonderful! We enjoyed the architecture, art, foliage, water features and people we met (my kids would like to add dogs).
We have been to many Riverwalks and in the US and overseas and the Riverwalk here in Chicago doesn’t disappoint!
What a beautiful place! Absolutely breath-taking!! The buildings are fantastic, the water is beautiful, and the concept of this riverwalk is fabulous. You can take in the beauty by walking and enjoying the cool air (even in the summer, thanks to the water!) Or you can also do a riverwalk cruise, which I strongly recommend. We did the "Architectural Riverwalk Cruise" which is a 90-minute guided tour with an expert tour guide who gives you the history, and even some engineering descriptions, of the buildings and city you are seeing. You can also take some great pictures from here. You can see a lot of Chicago, just by taking this cruise. We were only in Chicago for a day, and this was an excellent way of seeing the most in the shortest amount of time!
One of the most beautiful part of down Chicago it almost is sort of whimsical that such a gorgeous part of nature flows through the concrete jungle of downtown.
One of the most beautiful riverwalk i was at.
Clean green water, amazing skyline.
A beautiful way to see downtown Chicago. Check the architecture, relax, or eat at one of the many restaurants. Although it's super nice in the warm months, it gets pretty cold otherwise!
Beautiful site views. Wonderful walking through Riverside.
Don't want to be missed.
Very clean..
Amazing views, at the of the River walk there is a grass and some places to sit. A lot of places to eat and drink. If you want some history, you can find a free walking tour.
Chicago river Walk is a very nice trail along the river with a short version of the entire history of Chicago at the entrance, beautiful seating areas, flowers, entertaining, bars, street Food and much more. Should be on every ones to-do list, while in Chicago
I liked walking here in the evening after dinner. It’s nice and has shops to look at. You can also ride the tour boats they have there.
Beautiful scenery with a variety of businesses and tours. A must see spot! 🤩 …
Good location to walk along the river downtown. Lot of food options too along the way
Great place to go for a scenic stroll or have a glass of wine and unwind. There are multiple food venues along the river walk and withing close proximity to the river. You'll be able to see people kayaking down the river. Best time to go is twilight when the sun sets and the night comes to life!
❤️ walking along the river! 😉 Nice place to hangout. 🌈 …
Chicago at it's summer best! People watching, food and drinks! A little pricey and full of tourists, but you're in downtown Chicago and along the River! Plenty of free benches and chairs to sit along the way.
Love the river walk. Architecture is awesome. Plenty to do. An eclectic variety of people walk the river. Never a dull moment
I highly recommend this activity. It's fun just be ready to work! We thought it would be relaxing but it was our first time so we really had to listen and follow directions. The staff is great super patient and friendly. I'd suggest watching a few YouTube videos before going. Head out early because it may take a minute to find it especially if you are on the wrong side of the river like we were. LoL
Absolutely beautiful! I was there in early Oct so the weather was absolutely perfect. There are several cement stairs with trees in certain spots spots to go seat down and read a book under the shade. You’ll get the nice breeze and get to watch the water taxis and people canoeing. If you are visiting Chicago, be sure to stop by and take in the view and if you have a few hrs to spare, seat down, grab a book and relax.
Beautiful place for a stroll. Grab a drink and watch the boats and buildings.
Loved the riverwalk....lots of places to sit and enjoy Chicago. Many bars and eateries too!
Got a chance to hear some live Jazz on the riverwalk. What a great scenery and good music to listen to. Thanks Chicago Smooth Jazz radio station and the Event Horizon band in Chicago
Good if u like a party scene. We did a company dinner cruise. The dinner cruise had great food. But so much garbage floating in the river, kinda makes it a turn off.
Extensive network of walking paths threading along Lake Michigan, just blocks from downtown buildings. Part of it was in serious disregard, with gaping holes in the concrete which went unmarked by safety cones or rope! Beware of them, especially at night! I was shocked that we weren't protected from them.
It's scenic. You pass parks and the "Married With Children" water fountain. Frequent free concerts. Plenty of eateries nearby, and museums.
Walking to my work every morning just makes my day, then with new places and shops by the side make the place more charming
Relaxing and beautiful. You can people watch, eat drink or dance, find an activity such as biking, kayaking, or booking a tour. But mostly a pleasant place to stroll and see the city.
It is a very nice boating experience cruising through on the Riverwalk in between major builders with the family 🤗🤗💖💖💖 beautiful 80 degree weather🚤🌞👍👍👍💞💜💛💚💙 …
The Chicago Riverwalk is an open, pedestrian waterfront located on Chicago River in downtown Chicago, Illinois.
It extends from Lake Shore Drive to Lake Street. Called the city's 'Second Waterfront', after Lake Michigan, the Riverwalk contains restaurants, park-seating, boat rentals, and other activities.
The Chicago Riverwalk is a very nice area.
The Chicago Riverwalk is an open, pedestrian waterfront located on the south bank of the main branch of the Chicago River in downtown Chicago, Illinois managed by MB Real Estate. It spans from Lake Shore Drive to Lake Street. Called the city's 'Second Lakefront', the Riverwalk contains restaurants, park-seating, boat rentals, and other activities. Its current and planned final extent was opened to Wolf Point in 2017
Nicest river walk in Chicago which is not to say it rivals San Antonio's but it is nice and clean. Some nice river cruises are offered. And you have some cute bars and restaurants.
Just beautiful and full of life. I took a tour aboard Chicago's Little Lady, and it was great. Boat is ship-shape and a delight to be aboard.
There's nothing better than enjoying the Chicago Riverwalk on a warm sunny day except enjoying the Chicago Riverwalk on a cooler sunny day.
If you go during the summer you will encounter lots of people, my suggestion is you wait for cooler weather so go in the spring and fall and it will be much more enjoyable.
A nice location to enjoy some of the best sights of the Chicago river and Chicago's gorgeous architechture.
Unfortunately people waiting for a table at the bars and restaurants block the walkway so it's crowded in some spots.
Especially crowded at City Winery where they have seating and stairs where you can sit and enjoy the boats passing by. In fact, it looks like most people bring their own drinks to enjoy by the river and not that many are actually purchasing at City Winery.
Bike owners, dog owners, and strollers should all be banned from the Riverwalk
Bicyclists are supposed to yield to pedestrians but they don't.
People leaving their dog poo in the carefully landscaped shrubs/flowers right across from a restaurant is not very appetizing.
You can hop on board the Chicago Water Taxi for a different view of the city and the Riverwalk.
In fact, you can walk right into Navy Pier if you want to lengthen your stroll and see another iconic Chicago landmark.
If you can avoid the rude bicyclists, the dog owners who do not clean up after their dogs and the people with strollers who will Ram into you at a moment's notice, you'll have a wonderful day.
Great walk from the loop down to Navy Pier. Lots of choice for refreshments and some stunning views. Good atmosphere and felt safe.
Excellent tour guide, beautiful and extensive views, lengthy but not too long. Snacks and bar in the cabin
Really enjoyed our time here. Wish the weather was better to spend more time here. If you're coming to Chicago, definitely check the Riverwalk out.
We did the architecture tour with CHICAGO ARCHITECTURE FOUNDATION CENTER. It was amazing. Great job by these guys. Shout out to STEVE! FANTASTIC.
Fantastic view of the city , the walk show you a different part of the city !
Started at Michigan Ave and walked west , stopped at every bridge to look back East , a different look of the city , very cool
One of the hottest new places in Chicago. With restaurants, bars and wineries Live Music boats and kayaks there is plenty to do and there is always something to see. You can now walk from Lake Michigan all the way back to Wolf Point where branches of the Chicago river come together. Plenty of benches have been added if you need a rest. Restrooms are also scattered throughout. See a new skyscraper being built, watch boats pass by or even catch a river taxi. Hint do the all day pass and take the taxi the entire trip in the day the go back and do it all over again at night. The changes will amaze you. Then afterwards check out Art on the Mart light show. Be sure to head towards the lake on Wednesday and Saturday nights for a view of the Navy Pier Fireworks 9:30 (Thursday) and 10:15 pm (Fridays) Memorial day to Labor day
Lively place to take a stroll. Lots of food and drinks along the way accompanies the amazing views of architecture!
Patrick was our tour guide and he made the trip a shining star in my vacation. He was lively, engaging and kept our attention with his very concise and colorful story telling about the architecture and resilience of the Windy City aka Chicago.
Living it up in Chicago. Jesus knows how to bless your socks off. Thank you Kim. Never saw this part of Chicago. It's beautiful.
We didn't get to spend as much time as I would have preferred in this area, but the one day that we did our architectural cruise the atmosphere was nice despite the light rain.
One of the most beautiful walking past in downtown Chicago. It starts close to the Ogilvie train station to the intersection of Michigan Ave and Wacker drive. Just a beautiful path with views of the river and surrounding office and residential buildings. There are also small restaurants where we can eat and drink along the way.
Visited the Riverwalk on a Friday eve and it was wonderful! Beautiful views, lively atmosphere, and so clean. Lots of live music and people watching. Only downfall was the length of the drink lines but in general they moved quickly. Highly recommend for visitors!
For an astounding view from the water, hop on the Chicago Architecture Foundation Center River Cruise aboard Chicago’s First Lady Cruises. Voted one of the top 10 tours in the U.S. by TripAdvisor, this popular 90-minute cruise is narrated by CAF-certified docents who point out more than 50 architectural gems along the Chicago River. As you pass by you’ll hear about Chicago’s fascinating history and the design giants who shaped the city’s world-famous skyline.
Best way to see Chicago and it's magnificent architecture along the river. The riverwalk has restaurants, bars, public restrooms and a ticket booth offering a variety of cruises on the river.
This has to be one the jewels of Chicago. The architecture is a wonderful mix of the old and the new... just so interesting to see. If you're in Chicago don't pass up the Riverwalk.
Beautiful area to shop, drink, eat and watch the sunset
What's not to love about this place since it really got built up nice. Like hanging out in the room across the britannica building..but I hate to put that on here because it's a little well know secret that locals know.
Trump tower and all other sky scrapper appear just awesome from this place. This place can definitely make one relax after hectic day. Must visit this place!
The river walk is really nice.
You have joggers biking you can even rent a kayak or even a boat or use the river taxis that they have.
There are restaurants and cafes just off the river walk as well very nice idea
Always a treasure & pleasure to walk in Chicago riverwalk. The choice of bars, food joints, the assembly of people and the architecture makes the place always a goto for us. The evening strolls and the river cruises are both fun.
I came here 10 years ago as a teenager and fell in love with this city, I still feel just the same. Christopher Nolan's Gotham City, the home of The Oprah Winfrey show, jazz musicians on the street, The School of Art Institute of Chicago, Fazlur Rahman Khan's architecture (an immigrant of brown skin) and deep dish pizza, you are sublime. Chi-Town I love you forever. Riverwalk is beautiful.
A must visit when you're downtown Chicago! It's a perfect spot for photos. Take one of the boat cruises, it's totally worth it.
I love the Chicago riverwalk. Lot of restaurants and outdoor activities, perfect place for jogging or just stroll and outdoor walk by. One of the best attractions in Chicago.
An awesome place to walk in the summer
So much to do, see, eat, and drink. Grab a chair at a restaurant or bring a blanket for the lawn. Sit, chill and people watch! Or get on a river tour, they are everywhere!
Fantastic place to take a stroll any time of the day and any time of the year. Great views of downtown architecture and also a good place to hang out and people watch in the summer.
Fantastic. Parts are being remodeled. It can be busy but worth it. The connection to Navy Pier is very confusing now but only due to construction.
I can spend my whole day here. Loved it.
Interesting to see a river flowing through city.
Very neat area. Great people watching, you'll see some characters. Expensive drinks. Good vibes.
Really nice places to visit when in Chicago. One can Kayak, walk and take great pictures, but I wouldn't eat there cuz it's touristy asked not that great.
Gorgeous view but early November isn't a great time to visit. Most everything is closed for the season.
We had nice walk at river. It is so romantic and quiet place. River was so clean. But there is no many choices of restaurants/ bars.
Beautiful views, nice walking area and had a nice hangout spot for shade, drinks, and live music!
Beautiful walk along the river. Many restaurants/ bars that offer outdoor dining.
I always enjoy myself when I go to the Riverwalk... the scenery is beautiful Chicago's skyline is like no other !🔥 …
Nice atmosphere, some memorials, lots of water to see, many outdoor concession stand places and brewhouse bar environment. In nice weather can enjoy outdoors next to river
beautiful and peaceful walk along the river almost to the lake. There is a view of the skyscrapers, lots of good restaurants and places to rest.
Great atmosphere, clean, restaurants, shops, boat tours
It is nice experience to stay there. The room and bathroom are clean
We booked 2 room one is on the first floor and other is on the 4th floor .The first floor had some bad odor and the 4th floor room smell good
This is wonderful place to take a walk or grab a few drinks. Looks stunning when the buildings light up in evening. There are covered places where you can escape the wind/ rain. Do not miss this.
Beautiful place
So many different places to sit and grab lunch or a drink. From an irish pub, to a tiki bar, to City Winery, to a Cider bar... there is something for everyone. Amazing views of the Chicago River! There are a lot of River Cruises to choose from, and it's a short walk to DuSable Harbor as well.
You can also kayak on the River... but I wouldnt recommend it. I've seen so many close calls with boats and tourists in kayaks 😆
Wonderful experience to stroll along beautiful Chicago River. Accessible for everyone (strollers, wheelchair users) thanks to the ramps. A perfect way to discover Chicago’s stunning architecture. DuSable Bridge, Trump Tower, the brandnew Apple Store, etc. There are lots of places to eat, sit, play and relax.
It’s a cool place there just to chill or something. I also took a little cruise and I had so much fun.
Had a blast!! Played bags and had drinks. Docked right at the river. Service and atmosphere were great. Will return
Beautiful view of the river. Ate at Chicago burger company ...delicious. Lovely fountain towards the end of the walk. Umbrella lined table and chairs. So enjoyable.
Never has Dallas seen this type if inclusivity. Not what I've heard about Chicago and so happy we made this trip! New respect for this area. I love it.
Perfect walk path to get an amazing view of the Windy City and good spot for tourists and city photographers.
Cool that this exists. Love the artwork along the way. But... there are gaps, some sections are hard to follow where it goes, and many street crossings are not at controlled intercections.
Beautiful for a nice walk around the river! I take my dog here on the weekends!
A little touristy.....but we had fun. We had some drink. Pretty view as well.
I drove to Chicago then I asked at the hotel I was staying she gave me best advice to park my car out side chicago at rail station because it was Sunday it was free parking then I took tran and it was 8 dollar return that was the best thing I arrived at grand station out tallest sky scraper in Chicago and for 69 dollars 2 day pass for hop on hop bus and 1 X boat ride out side the harbour and river
Took the shoreline architectural view fireworks tour. Caught the first fireworks of the season. Absolutely loved the experience of 75 minutes of the tour, and had an amazing tour guide, Rachel, you rocked!!
Great place to see the city from river level. Shops and places to eat and drink with bathrooms along the walk.
I really enjoy walking along the river and appreciate the city made this change for the pedestrian path. This provides the city Chicagoans a very cozy place to meet, sit, work out or just chill. Hope they can extend this to the south branch.
What a great way to get away from the traffic noise and smells of Chicago's downtown core while still being there! Walk down 20 steps, visit little restaurants for a quick bite, walk aways or take a ferry. The view is lovely. The air smells sweeter. Families sit in the grass or walk their dogs.
Very beautiful area. It's perfect for date walks and they have stairs where you can chill and talk maybe have some snacks. Also you can take boat tours.
Beautiful walk with plenty of sitting and dining possibilities.
Great views!
Today we strolled along the Riverwalk and took in a beautiful display of the river and city. This is next level walking area and quick access to the boat tours , food, drink and a nice place to sit.
I’m giving the river walk just four stars because they restrict open container alcoholic beverages a few feet past each establishment. If you buy a drink at one restaurant or bar, you have to consume it there. It’s a good idea to pull up a chair and take in the sites bc you can’t walk with it. Shout out to the @IslandPartyHut for the sweet view of the river and lawn chairs to relax in.
Beautiful. I enjoyed the walk. In the heart of the city, yet very serene. Highly recommend the architectural boat tour in you are planning to hang out at the river walk.
Beautiful place to walk alongside the Chicago River and view the numerous high rise buildings and hang out for a bite in several food options.
Very cold and windy weather. The facilities of the riverwalk is renewed and getting nicer with all seatings and wood furnitures. Very nice.
Lovely place, great views. Good food, very peaceful.x
I went on a Chicago Foundation Centre cruise and it was excellent! The docent was very knowledgeable and peppered architecture facts with interesting observations on the growth of the waterways and how architectural style evolves. A definite must if you are intrigued by the river and the disparate style of incredible buildings that dot the riverwalk. May not be your cup of tea if you only want anecdotes and oddities
Best sightseeing in town. The architecture boat tour is worth the price. Best seen at non-rush hours. Sometimes in Summer and Autumn you can catch a light show too.
Came to see the Chicago Riverwalk during St. Patrick’s Day weekend. We got to go for a stroll and enjoy seeing the Green River!
It's the best part about this city. I've been living here for two years now, and I still can't get over how beautiful it is.
The Chicago riverwalk is a must. Great people watching, plenty of enjoyable spots to get overpriced drinks, watching art on the mart, and gaining an incredible vantage of the downtown skyline.
A scenic tour through the river. It is filled with many different restaurants and always seems to have life surrounding it. The views here are amazing as you get to experience the architecture as you walk. They also have some games set up so you can feel free to get your competitive juice flowing
It's a beautiful & very good place to walk around and enjoy the time with family and friends.
Columbia College Chicago graduates got the opportunity to obtain their degree and enjoy the affluent, beautiful atmosphere of downtown Chicago!!
Nice place to run a walk, especially if you make it down towards the lake. There are good views and it's a bit quieter than the bustle on the streets. Plenty of folks running in the morning. We felt very comfortable running here as visitors.
Had a wonderful time with my wife in this special place!
The Gangster and Ghost tour was awesome! So much history, I greatly appreciate the lesson
Walking downtown is so much fun. Theres so much noise and music and life going on. This year we were lucky enough to make it to the river being dyed gree. Absolutely breathtaking
The Chicago Riverwalk is a multi-use public space located on the south bank of the main branch of the Chicago River, extending from Lake Shore Drive and Lake Michigan to Lake Street.[1] The Chicago Riverwalk contains bars, cafes and restaurants; small parks; boat and kayak rentals; a Vietnam War memorial; and other amenities. Its planned final extent is Wolf Point
Chicago Riverwalk is the main reason my visit to Chicago. It’s the best river I’ve ever seen. Very well planned architectural design incorporated to the whole beautiful view of the Loop.
If you have not been to riverwalk you havent seen Chicago. Absoluteky gorgeous
Excellent public space. Highly recommend signing up for a boat tour.
A wonderful path along the absolutely well maintained and beautifully designed waterfront.
