My family and I took a spontaneous trip here it was such a great idea.. it was our very first time going and what a wonderful experience! Our whole family enjoys space science and this place was right up our alley from my 21-year-old to my 11-year-old to my husband and myself we enjoyed every single second we spent there! It was so much to do and see.. One thing that we all love that its very,very interactive We definitely want to go back! Wednesdays are the best because it's free to Illinois residents. I really like the fact that they stay open late and what impressed me the most is that it's very,very family-friendly. From the nursing rooms in the bathrooms everything is well thought out.. my favorite part was seeing one of the oldest telescopes in the world!!!!😳 I just could not believe that they have it here & so much more!!!! The location itself is beautiful .. 😱 Wow!! The view in the evening of the city is simply spectacular !! Honestly pictures really don't do it any justice!!! Go ahead & make plans to come to one of America's oldest planetariums! 😁

Best views of Chicago Skyline in my opinion. Expect to catch multiple wedding photoshoots if you go during a nice weekend. I came here by bike every time and it was really nice. Highly recommend a trip out here whether you're a local or a touristy. It's a really nice spot to relax or take the most picturesque photo.

This is the best spot for the Chicago city skyline view without any obstructions. Get your camping chairs, mats and you can peacefully relax in here. Plan your parking ahead of time as this location is crazily packed as it’s right next to Planetarium and Shedd Aquarium.

I needed more space and I got it! Great place to go to learn, and enjoy a high...among the stars and the planet. It's a small museum relatively but you have to explore and bask in the activities to really have an immersive experience. If you go to the shows...GET THERE 15 -20 MIN BEFORE IT STARTS. it will get packed and you'll regret it lmao.

Visited the planetarium with my wife and son during our trip to Chicago. I wasn't expecting to spend as much time as we did but we were there about 2.5 hours. We enjoyed the history and interactive displays. This is definitely a stop that needs to be made when touring the Chicago museums.

The best place to get great pictures of the skyline! It’s easy to get to it from the walk trail as you enjoy a view of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline! I highly recommend coming during sunset time! It’ll create good memories!

The Adler Planetarium Skyline Wall is located on the northeast tip of Northerly Island, and offers one of the best possible views of the entire Chicago skyline. It’s a great place to go with a group if you’re looking for an amazing photo backdrop. The entire walkway offers beautiful skyline views, but my favorite place is all the way at end next to the Adler Planetarium where the walkway curves to the right.

One of the best views of the skyline in the entire city. The farther out west you walk, the more you can see. At night the city lights are spectacular and a must see. If there are fireworks going on at navy pier, you get a unique view, but may need binoculars. One of the best spots to catch the sunset with the skyline in Chicago.

It is a great location right on the water. There is a lot of interactive exhibits. Cool lighting and simulations. The kids learning center was our favorite. We did not give ourselves enough time to properly enjoy everything. I would recommend going in the morning and plan for several hours of enjoyment.

This planetarium has a lot of shows and exhibits to offer; we easily spent the day here. The all access pass includes all the shows but you can only get a ticket for two at a time; after that you have to keep going back to the ticket counter for more tickets even though they're free with all access, which is my only complaint. The planetarium is very clean and the staff very helpful. The Galileo cafe is a nice spot for lunch and you're right on lake Michigan! There are also several kid areas for little ones to explore and craft. Can't wait to go back.

Good place to visit. Only show in Grainger Theater are valuable to view, but the story could be little boring. Enough artifacts about planets and flight to the moon. Inventors room for kids, and a big playing yard for youngest. Cafe inside has a great view to the lake.

The Adler was exactly what you would expect from a planetarium. It was informational, educational, entertaining and large. It has a lot of cool information, areas where the kids could play and plenty of information for the buck. It was a bit pricey in my opinion but it was worth a day trip. The location was cool and the walk was fun from the hotel.

This planetarium has lots of items from Apollo 13, a rock from the moon, and a meteorite you can touch. The dome theater is beautiful, but I would have appreciated a show with more focus on scientific information and less about fancy animations (specifically talking about the new “Imagine the Moon” show. I’m sure others are probably more up my alley). Go on the first weekend of the month and show a Bank of America card to get in free!

Always a great to place to go with friends and family for perfect skyline shots of our beautiful city every time. Just be careful when traveling with kids and littles here as there is no barrier to prevent falling by in to the lake. Free parking on Sunday’s arrive early or check spot angel and always read signs the city is Notorious for doing Street cleanings and “special closures” seemly always land coincidentally on the museums free days, limiting the street parking time to just a few hours in the afternoon forcing public transit or costly parking fees. FYI Check out spot angel for free spots or reduced rates.

The area around the aquarium and planetarium is absolutely stunning! You can get some of the best views of the city from there. It’s great for all sorts of occasions from a jog, socializing, walk with a date, to meditating. There are plenty of parking spots but the ones closest to the water might be taken.

Hands down best place in Chicago to view the skyline. Visit it at day time or night, this place will not disappoint you. Make sure to bundle up if you're visiting in winter since it's always a lot colder there and a lot more windy. Be sure to check the bus timings before visitng to avoid missing out on the last bus if you're visiting late night.

This is such a lovely place to walk and see the tip of Lake Michigan. People, that thing is huge...It's like being at the ocean. And the walkway is a great place to see as much as can be seen. Grassy areas to lay down and even a small wooded area where you can get some shade.

The breathtaking view of the city of Chicago from the Adler Planetarium and the Astronomy Museum was the first planetarium in the western hemisphere. What appeared in the image is not just a beautiful background of the city, the wonderful sculpture that can be seen at the entrance of the observatory is titled The man enters the cosmos is a bronze sculpture made by Henry Moore. It is definitely an incredible space to spend the day admiring the view and all that the planetarium has to offer from shows, wonderful exhibits loaded with quite interesting and fascinating information.

Hands down the best place in Chicago to see the skyline. Navy Pier does not beat this view. It is unobstructed, and the best view is in the morning. It is a long walk from the loop, but beautiful next to the lake with a trail that leads from the loop to here.

Oh, the views you would have! Whether watching the sunrise over lake Michigan, or the moonrise on the lake...or the view of the cityscape leaves one mesmerized. No wonder it is a destination by itself during summer. Bring a picnic pac and stay a while. Parking is a bit tough to find and often becomes very limited during special events but go round and round and you are bound to score a spot. Worth waiting for. Adler Planetarium is temporarily closed. Check the website for opening date. Walkway arond the planetarium is open for public. It's a nice walk to go around the building. There is a small beach to the left of the planetarium.
