Reviews of Boston Common Frog Pond
Would have been nice to see vendors with hot cocoa, tea, coffee. It was a frigid night. 12/10/22. Fun, family friendly. Park rangers very visible.
Had a really nice day there with my boyfriend. We both strolled through the water, and I went under the water sprinkler ,cool down. Great views !!!the water is very clean too.
Visited Frog Pond over July 4th weekend, always a great time to travel to Boston! I will remind even out of state travelers, this is the weekend a lot of people go to the beaches or mountains so Boston is quieter than normal.
The city re-opened Frog pond after a couple years hiatus due to Covid so it was very exciting!!
We went on a Sunday and the pond opened at 11, but it’s located in the heart of Boston Common so there is much to do if you arrive early like we did.
Carousel was running at 10 am and for 4.00 your little one or big one can ride for a few minutes,I always go on with my son.
Also near frog pond is tadpole playground always open and all sorts of climbing structures to keep kids busy until the countdown for the pond opening.
The pond has bathrooms at it and a place to buy snacks, there are lifeguards even if it’s primarily a wading pond but enough to cool off and play in.
We walked around the commons saw lots of vendors and had a great day al around!
Being the family and have a picnic!! I will be back there soon.
This is a FABulous SEASONAL ice skating ⛸️ rink in the heart of Boston Common. Less people during the week and obviously packed on the weekends!
You can rent skates or bring your own!
I had so much fun and it was my very first time to enter ice rink. My friend encouraged me to try ice skating. At first, I was so hesitant coz I think I was too old to do it and I don't think I could balance myself but thanks for her encouragement I was able to challenge myself.
This is an incredible park in downtown Boston! A great place to visit with family and friends. Lots of green area to set up a picnic or just have a good rest under a tree!
Washrooms on site. With a cafe for snacks and there are a few food vendors throughout the park. (fried dough, lemonade, arepas, etc)
Has a HUGE wading pool, a large adventure playground with a small toddler splash pad. The big wading pool - is about mid calf deep. Kids under 12 should be supervised.
There is a carousel near the wading pool $4 a ticket or $20+ something for 10 rides.
Lovely lovely place to spend you time on the 4th of July!
Beautiful park. The oldest park in Boston. The frog pond in the winter is a ice skating rink. My daughter's highlights of her vacation were skating on that rink.
Frog pond was good, but crowded and of course water not as sanitary. Wish it was chlorinated. My daughter went in and her eyes were a bit red. If going in, wear shoes and don't put whole body in the water. Animals are going in there too so be careful. The park next to frog pond was nice.
Great place to be at !! I really had fun in this park. Will definitely visit again. 😊🥳 …
My kids loved running around the park. Great playground for the kids to play in. The pond was great for a warm day. Kids really enjoyed it. The carousel was one of my favorite things there. Took me back to my childhood.
Beautiful park. Lots of people enjoying a very warm November day. Will return with my kids.
My wife and I visited Boston in the fall when the frog pond is a public ice skating rink. The area is big enough for many people to comfortably skate. They have plenty of skates to rent, price for admission and rentals was about $24 per person
First time skating at the frog pond and had a really swell time.. Renting a seal is $18, for some reason, so it can get expensive quick! Got there as the ice was swept clean. A helpful staff in a disorganized fashion
This is an amazing place to go too, my family loves going there in the summer and winter, the ice skating ring is a great experience for people visiting Boston, very unique!
Beautiful venue on Boston Common well worth a visit for ice skating at Christmas. Free entry for kids, skate rental is reasonable.
Great place during the week . Outside skating on a sunny cold day .What better way to spend a day in the winter in the City with your daughter .❤👸👍😊
I was in the Commons late night / early morning. It was amazing watching the gentleman using a garden house to build another layer of ice on the ice skating rink.
This outdoor ice rink is in the oldest public park in the country. Public skating hours are offered morning, afternoon, and evening. Skate rentals, hot drinks, and hot food are available. Can't skate? No worries, this rink has a Learn to Skate program.
This place is always packed during events. It’s a nice place to sit a watch people in the summer and in the winter.
In the summer the pond is open and there are sprinklers. I see lots of kids come here to play in ankle deep water. Not sure how sanitary it is but I guess it’s pretty clean because I have never heard of them closing it down due to illnesses. Sometimes it is closed and flushed. So maybe that helps. But also maybe it can be a way to boost your kids’ immune systems if they don’t get terribly sick from the water.
The ice skating is nice in the winter. But like I said, it is always packed. Come here early to rent some skates or bing your own. But come early so you don’t have to wait in the mile long line.
For others, bring a date and either ice cream or hot chocolate to watch people and chat. Great way to get to know each other by how they perceive others.
This is our second time ice skating here.
Pro - Free entry for active military personnel plus one other person, a cute little pond to ice skake in, they offer blue seals for an additional $15 to put your child on it and skate the child around
Con - overpriced, not enough benches for people to rest on
The frog pond is lovely. A beautiful oasis in the middle of a hot day in the city. We enjoyed the tadpole playground and running back and forth between the two. There are food carts around the area, super easy to get a bite for a hangry toddler and a bottle of water for yourself.
Boston Common is one of the gifts the founding fathers left us. Combined with the gardens, is a very large public space with lots of opportunities to relax.
My daughters best place were she enjoyed her time with her sister shrouded with other kids,if any one have a kid it better to take the there specialty at summer time
Empty this time of year. It's 11:00 AM, 10/15/22, Saturday and the park is relatively peaceful busy with tourist making their way along the freedom trail.
Very Christmassy in December
It was free event sponsored by the Friends of the Public Garden. The event was feature free skate rentals (while supplies last) and free cookies, and free hot chocolate!
The FREE skating sessions was began at 10:00 am, 12:00 pm, 2:00 pm 4:00 pm, and 6:00 pm. Space was limited to 125 skaters per 90-minute session. Free tickets were available beginning 30 minutes before each session.
My friends and I showed up at the event at 1:30pm and were pretty much at the top of line and waited less than 10 minutes to get our 3 free tickets for 4o’clock session meanwhile people were lining up for 2o’clock session. By the time my friends and I were leaving to grab something to eat and warm up the line became pretty huge.
When I return back for my session at 4pm the tickets were sold out for rest of the day. So it was good decision first stopped by to pick up the tickets in advance.
Everything was nice and smooth and well organized including picking up the rental skates. The skates were nice and sharp. So with getting rent skates and putting them on my feet I was able to happily ice skating by 4:11, including storage my stuff in locker and going to restroom. I finished my ice skating at 5:15pm and after enjoyed cookies and hot chocolate time with my friends while some people were still ice skating.
They finished the session sharply at 5:30pm so everyone has enough time to return their skates and enjoy the hot chocolate/cookie time before next session starts at 6pm.
Had a great sunday night in Boston with the family! The pop up rink this year is TINY and it was crowded until about 7 but still a good time and we will return next year. Wish they had food only surving hot coco so make sure to bring snacks.
A green oasis in the middle of a concrete world. Busy most of the time. Underground parking below the park. I stop by when I'm in the area for a stroll.
The pond turns to a Ice Skating Rink during the winters with a pleasant view of Downtown Boston as well as enough greenery being right beside boston commons.
So nice. This park suits to all age groups ie from infants to senior citizens, to walk or run to warm up or to take rest ,to eat or to fast .
Large ice skating area, rental is available, $6 entrance fee plus $12 for rent. Well maintained. The skate shows are not in best shape, bring your own if you have one.
Awesome skating rink. Last I skated there was back in 7th grade, and never again since. But I want to so bad.
Wonderful day cooling off in the pond!
We took the family ice skating here and it was great. Good skates available to rent and they have a cafe for food and hot chocolate. At night they have it with Christmas lights and it's very magical.
My son’s first skating time.
Great place to spend a warm afternoon or take a break when exploring Boston with kids. Clean and well looked after with staff overseeing for safety. Bring swim clothes and towels.
Was closed in September...too bad because the weather was warm and kids could have enjoyed wading in it. Don't know if you are ever allowed to wade though. Cute frog statues.
Great Area for kids with public restrooms not open on may 24
The park is beautiful with grassy rolling areas. No water in the pond yet and the carousel isn't on yet.
Children are having fun in pond during summer. And you can skate on the frozen pond during winter.
The best place to cool down from the July heat.
I love this place, nice ice, and good equipment. And location. And the prices.
The Frog Pond Spray Pool is a family favorite for city dwellers and visitors, it sits at the starting end of the famous walking The Freedom Trail in the historic districts of Boston, in the summer, it is a wonderful place to visit, just sit back, relax, and enjoy the beauty and history of The Boston Common while watching your little kids splash around and cool down on hot summer days, just remember to bring the bathing clothes to change, if not, their under wear should do the job. There is children's playground on the site. In winter, it changes to an outdoor ice skating rink
Fun for little kids!!! You cool in the sprinklers, they have restrooms, cafeteria for by food , the park and carrousel!!!
Nice place to ice skate during the winter, but during the summer, it's a grimy puddle that parents horrifyingly allow their kids to splash around in
Love this place for the kids. Before covid they really had events all the time. Its slowly coming back and I'm so excited! They had a movie night, Halloween festivities. I love the commons. Even just people watching is a good time because there are people from all walks of life, and class, such different worlds we all love in
The pond area is great , but the I bought cheeseburgers from the Frog Pond Cafe but they were extremely oily, not tasty at all.
Kids love this place but it need a little update.. it's good for mostly toddler or kids who start to walk.
Went ice skating, was really fun and not too crowded
It's a great place to cool off with kids! There is a lot of rules so check before you come, but overall it's fun!
Beautiful area that turns into an ice skating pond in the winter. There’s a playground adjacent to it!
The squirrel population just off to the side of the pond is thriving.
We always have such am amazing time.
Really cool skating experience, especially at night! It's fairly reasonably priced for a whole day of skating as well.
Love to see the families ice skating this time of year. Boston Common Frog Pond makes the Christmas spirit in the winter and is fun in the summer.
Lovely place to walk your dog or just to feed the aquirrels
Great the ice skating in the frozen pond
This was an interesting shallow body of water with a sprinkler in the center where people were playing in.
I personally didn't get wet, but it seems to be fun for those who did.
Fun place to ice-skating or just watch
nice to play in water in summer and ice skate in winter
Very nice and there was a special skating show during New year's Eve by Olympic bronze medalist...it's a plus
Summer fun for the kiddos here. Bring towels. There are restrooms in the building at the Pond.
Went here last week. Parking in Boston Commons was really easy. Took the kids to the frog pond, there are bathrooms and a place to change right there, a nice fountain in the middle of the pond and a carousel. Fantastic place for toddlers and small kids.
Pretty useless most of the year unless it’s frozen or it’s the summer
Fun park, frog pond was drained but PLENTY of other things to do here.
Fall season and winter season in Boston common park. Spent a good time here when my friends from other cities visited me.
Beautiful park! One of our favorite city destinations anytime of year. My grand kids love the water in the summer and skating in the winter. There is a nice playground adjacent to it. Clean restrooms on site always a bonus!
In the winter, it's an ice skating rink that you can bring you and your date or your family to enjoy some fun times on the ice! In the seasons without snow and ice, the pond is transformed into a pseudo skating area where you can go and enjoy the nice weather on the park side. Definitely a nice area to set up some picnic blankets and enjoy a summer day.
A little pricey but great if you have your own skates. The ice gets pretty scratched up, but its a nice, small location so beginners can feel like its not intimidating. There are extra supports for children and beginner skaters as well. Just a really nice family friendly location
Cost to enter is more than reasonable. The staff working inside that distribute skates are very polite, skates are cleaned and well taken care of as well.
Very friendly spot to ice skate for all levels. Music playing and a overall good time!
Great place to take a date for ice skating in the winter. Reasonably priced and they allow you to rent skates if you don't own a pair. The snack bar food is just okay, but that's not why most people go. Great city views while you skate around!
My son loves this place in the winter is ice skating in the summer is a wading pool. Then there's the very busy park across from it. It is usually busy especially in the summer so you definitely have to keep a close eye on the children. Between strangers from all over and the hustle n bustle if downtown along with a bunch of kids swimming and running it could be scary if you don't watch good. There's also a merry go round. It has a changing room/bathroom in winter they rent out ice skates.
Time your visit to the church bells and be walking South to North
Great for families in summer. You can picnic, splash in the "pond"(replete with lifeguards), hang at the playground, or take a ride on the carousel. Super family friendly.
This is a fun place to ice skate in the winter, and to take little ones for a splash in the summer! The nearby playground and ball parks lend themselves to endless activities for adults and children alike.
The Boston Common and Frog pond need no explanation. Absolutely gorgeous, particularly in the spring. Find the Good Will Hunting bench, it’s real.
Small pond. Nice to ice skate. But very small. Can get cramped in there. Walls are not all sturdy. Not too expensive though.
Fun in the winter for ice skating and nice for the little to cool off in the summer when they full it with water
The price can be fairly steep if you don't have your own skates. But its a very friendly environment and the Skate Guards not only keep people safe but give tips to beginners on the ice. The night skating when all of the holiday trees are lit up is beautiful and exciting
In the summer is perfect for the kids to play, but in the winter is perfect for the whole family.
I love ice skating here in the winter, and bringing the kiddo to the splash pool in the summer.
Great winter skating and great summer splashing. Next to a playground and merry go round.
Lots of open space for play, picnic, strolling....
Cute little area for small-rink ice skating. Diego that drives the zamboni for the ice rink is a nice guy.
It is a great place to bring your kids they also have a little playground to the side and a small little splash pad for the younger kids in the playground and then they also have a merry-go-round and they have vendors selling food and a restroom
There are lockers to store your bags, you can get the rental skates in your size, the staff there will help you out in case you are not able to skate or fall down. Open to the public, clearly visible, neatly maintained. Had loads of fun!! Definitely worth another visit.
Still fun bringing my daughter 20 years later.
Loved ice skating here
Very nice park, ice skating in the winter, there's a playground and seating areas
Looks like it will be fantastic, when it opens for the season.
Best area to hang out for the day if you don't mind being around people. Makes it a little easier when you have children with you as well. They can run and splash in the water then go a short distance to the playground
Super fun for kids when weather allows. It's very shallow but still there are lifeguards watching, which is great
My girl's 11 and 5 had a blast a long with my other half and I. I do wish though the seals (for ice skaters that aren't experienced) were monitored and readily available for the small children like my youngest daughter who had NEVER skated before this to have been able to use it versus the older children who didn't actually need it but wanted it! But overal it was an awesome time!
Very nice place to sit and people watch. No one bothered me and I felt safe sitting here. Will go again. The benches are always almost taken so get your seat early.
I'm sure it's nice most of the time. However, there were countless people playing in the water, and then the following day it was drained and people were playing in the basin. Also, no ghosts.
Fun! It was busy and there’s always those 1 or 2 obnoxious people showing off that could slow down, but fun time with the family
I love going to Frog Pond every single summer with my son. We take the train in from the south shore and spend the whole day there. We play at the splash pond, feed the birds, ducks and squirrels and then we get a delicious slice of pizza from across the street. Best pizza we've ever had and they give you an enormous slice for the price. We love getting away from the suburbs and spending the day away in the city. We always have the best time when we visit Boston Common. It's so beautiful, scenic snd we carry many.memories with us every single summer!
A very lively park as always!
The pond was a hit with families with young kids. Lifeguards were stationed around to keep people safe. Free restrooms were available.
They have awesome events here all year long: jack-o'-lantern float for Halloween, tree lighting around Christmas, and skating all winter. It's really a fantastic spot.
There is a sweet playground right next to it, and so many cool things are within a couple minutes walking: food trucks, sledding up at the monument, events at the common, shopping on Newbury street, the theatre district, historic Beacon Hill, and the flower garden & swan boats, to name a few.
They have skate rentals, if you need them, and there's a carousel right next to it, most of the year.
Was a little fun, but for $12 the rental skates were pretty bad, the laces dont go high enough to support your ankle at all... Also crowded. These problems would be okay if cost a little less though
Cool place in the summer. Fountains & different monuments/ statues to view. There is a large shallow water area for kids to play in with a concession stand. Ducks & swans in the pond area closer to Charles Street . Awesome garden with areas to lay out around the pond as well.
Lifeguards on duty were very attentive and polite. Water clean. Playground needs updates and much needed repairs. I'm surprised that such a busy playground in the most visited park in the city is not kept in better conditions.
Reminded me of New York almost, will definitely return.
My favorite Park 🏞️ see people life from all the world …
Ice skating is hard... But we met wally!
I love the energy of children playing safely. The water is so warm from the sun and shallow. You can find a shady spot and watch. Or follow your child while getting your feet wet. Great free Boston activity!
Had a great time at the Frog Pond ice skating for the first time in years! Wasn't expensive and we were even able to rent skates there included in the price of getting in. Another really good thing is that they had the zamboni come out from time to time go over the ice, so it's nice and smooth all day long.
We got lucky! they had free ice skating sessions for winter till 23rd feb I guess, and free rentals too! :) I enjoyed my time at Frog pond. The Volunteers were friendly and offered great service!
we didn't see any frogs (ha ha) but seems like a great place for kids to play in middle of park. Plenty of space and bathrooms nearby.
Great time ice skating! A little pricier than I remembered: $42 for 2 adults and a 3yo to enter and rent, but fun and memorable and worth it. Staff friendly
Nice playground. My boys love the frogs statues and know all their names.
I love coming to this place. It's nice and relaxing. It's really fun in the winter to skate on the pond. I came here with my family a few weeks ago and they had food trucks selling food. It's always nice coming to frog pond
There are public restrooms and concessions here! Additionally, in the summer kids can wade in the water at certain times and in the winter there is ice-skating. The little frog statues at the end of the pond also offer a neat photo op. Definitely check this place out as part of your tour of Boston.
Great place to take the kids for skating, it's a must do. Could only be better if the hot dogger skaters weren't zipping around our 4 year old. Fun experience always.
From my own experience, the Boston Common Frog pond is a fantastic ice skating place. It is indeed a great choice of a place to relax, learn ice skating or improve on your ice skating skill. I had my first opportunity to skate in life here and I treasure it. The Frog pond attract large numbers of people even as late as 8pm. All the support needed in case of emergency are provided.
A part of boston common park, at snow, this pound will be use for ice skating
I haven't went yet but i going soon and i love how it could make kids happy in all 4 seasons and i know that could be tough. So thank you for making our children as happy as possible no matter the weather.
I feel that the name "Frog Pond" rather conflicts with the pond's clearly artificial design. A pool of water in a park is always nice, though.
Frog Pond was a great way to end our day touring around Boston.
Great spot to sit and relax.
So nice to sit and take it in.
Winter ice scattering. Summer water/frog pond. In the Boston Common. Just lovely to sit early and later in the day. Peace. Nothing there now with COVID19.
I go there now with friends or alone. NICE
Pretty awesome to have a public standing pool in the middle of the city. Kids had a blast so make sure you bring extra clothes and towels because they will definitely get wet exploring this area.
The Frog Pond is a fantastic family friendly location. In the summer, it offers access to shallow cement pool and water sprinkler/spout to cool down and get wet.
Wintertime transforms this said same location into an outdoor ice skating venue.
This is a fun experience everyone should do at least once. Keep in mind that it is a bit pricey, but understandably for being such a main tourist attraction. This only applies in winter though, when frog pond is a skating rink. There are often a lot of people, so it can be crowded, and they don't Zamboni very frequently.
Lots of mice kind of gross. All together a beautiful park if you can avoid stepping on them.
Ice skating rink is decent (a little overused when I went), but it is also fun as a fountain in the summer to cool off! The water was warm and my 3yo loved it!
Great place for the families and kids...
Nice place to go for a walk.
Nice area for kids to play and swim.
It was amazing!! So fun to take my shoes off and run through the water after a day of walking around and exploring Boston.
I went here in Fallout 4. Nice place, watch out for the swan in the pond tho, he has a bit of a temper
Good place to take a picture with the frogs. There's even a children's playground area for you to drop them and walk around taking turns
Soooo many squirrels in this park
Nice place on a hot day. Wasn't too crowded. Impressed with the number of life guards and the facilities
Great for tourists who are visiting the city and want to get all that Boston has to offer. But, if you’re a local in the state or enjoy ice skating, I’d go to your local rink instead.
My wife and I visited it twice, very relaxing
Experience of Boston common is phenomenal. There is so much to do here, totally family oriented.
A nice ice skating arena with a decent cafe. People from all levels come here.
Love just going to Boston to just sit on the grass in the Common to soak up some sun and people watch.
Skating on the Frog Pond in winter is so quintessentially Boston. If you're there in the summer, they have water spritzers for little kids to play in. In general it's a nice spot to stroll, or to just work it into your walking-commute : )
Beautiful park and place to have a picnic and time to think
They need to clean up the pond. In the winter it's for skating, I believe later in the summer they allow kids to swim/bathe. But now it's just a dirty duck pond.
Fun place... seasonal. Refreshing and fun loving place. You can come n enjoy with your friends and family. Summer you can come to relax n winter you can skate on snow
The Pond is kept up nicely.
Beautiful park to take your kiddos to relax and enjoy the day. I wish we had something like this back home.
Don't ever in the summer time here get the dippin dots ice cream MAJOR RIPOFF 4.75 fr a cup that was not even full???? And had no flavor whatsoever stick to the he regular soft serve and ty other stuff waste of money the pond itself is completely cool at all times and in all seasons.
...❄Snow ((( the remnants of snowfalls and the most beautiful scenery of nature in ... Of Nature ; to Clean Our Mind)))...
Expensive, especially if you have tall children. Charged my 10 year old grandson adult price for skate rentalsbecause of his hight.
This place is so cool!
Beautiful pond in America's first public park. Skating is fun here during the winter. Pond is sort of a misnomer though as its only a like three inches deep.
It was good but cold. Fix cold then I'll come back. Add space heaters plz, don't worry about ice meltage. Also needs more seal scooters :)
Had a great time taking my nephew ice skating at the frog pond ⛸️❄️💙 …
Its GORGEOUS here in the summer time & BEAUTIFUL in the winter time!! In summer you can come cool off your toes in the pond & in the winter time you can ice skate on that same pond!! 😁👍🏼 …
Very nice pond
Boston Common Frog Pond is a good place to go when you just want to relax and take a walk with ur family or friends.
Nice Park with the pond for the kids to play
Great American Park, large expanse, open with lots to see, War Memorial on the Hill. State Capital Gold dome, flowers, ponds, swans, it's got it all. T is right there and restaurants n Bars all around. Enjoy.
I love the little froggy statues because that way we have frogs for the kids even in the winter when the rest of the frogs hopped south for the winter or are hibernating or whateva it is that the frogs do for the winter???
It was a tradition to go to frog pond and skate during the holidays. I wish the rink was larger.
Loved it got to take a picture with the Mayor. 😃
Fun for the family at a reasonable cost. Plenty of rental skates available, not as crowded as one would expect.
The staff is friendly and helpfully the rental skates are well maintained weekday there is plenty of room on the ice.
Great place to Walk....Read...Speak to Friends or Just enjoy.the Beautiful Atmosphere....
Vey nice place 😍
Really nice and cool i loge to skate there 5hx ur the only place i would go to and u clean the ice really good um proud 💐💐 …
I love going to the Boston commons and taking my grandson, when the frog pond is open he loves to play in the water
A great Boston attraction year round. In the summer you have the iconic swan boats. In the winter there's fun ice skating.
Frog pond is a really beautiful place. You can walk around it. Part of the Boston Common park. One of the events that takes place at the pond is the Pumpkin festival.
Fun spot in the heart of the city! Lovely walking paths all around and benches for people watching and catching some rays.
The frog pong is impressively big and even has a lifeguard on duty. There are restrooms at the pond, but there are only a few stalls, so there may be a long line.
Beautiful place for the children, and for the parents too, both will enjoy.
Nice place to visit, actually I was in town for about 5 days and came here probably half a dozen times, convenient locale and ice skating in winter
So much fun!!! Had a blast with my family. Favorite place I've ever skated
Great place to take a pit stop while touring Boston. In the summer the kids can paddle in the pond and in the winter they can ice skate.
This a skating rink is fun, but if you don't know how to ice skate It's gonna be a long day try to get round that more than once
Skating on frog pond during the winter has to be one of Boston's favorite winter activities. The Christmas lights add a nice touch to the ambiance.
Amazing place for kids to get a cold dip for free, play in the park, plenty of shade and snacks around.
Beautiful location. During the warmer seasons they let kids swim in the pond and during the winter they have ice skating.
Ice time.
Such a fun place to ice skate. It was really beautiful as the sun went down and the lights came on.
The ice skating ⛸ is fun but they don't zamboni the ice often enough so there are a lot of falls...
My granddaughter had the best time ice skating for the first time. The seals were especially helpful.
I love skating here during the winter!!! It's so much fun :D
