Came here on a mildly warm, cloudy day; ran into a few Sprinkles, which made for a magical experience. Lots of info on plants found throughout the state. Currently there is a Fairy House exhibit, which was quite enjoyable. I recommend bringing a camera with extra batteries. Worth the small entrance fee.
Olga Lozinski
Spectacular! I wish I was there a week before to see those beautiful irises in bloom.
Everything is so well kept and organized. And the koi fish pond... I could watch them for hours. Definitely will be back to see more.
Rodney
Pleasant garden with walking paths throughout and nice variety of of plants which are identified. With many shaded areas a good place to enjoy the outdoors during a hot summers day. Also a very nice Koi pond with very large specimens
Stacy Stevens
A lovely place for a walk, and some peace and quiet. Beautifully maintained and very informative. We're looking forward to our first concert this year at Outlaw Field!
Rajesh Kariya
visited during their winter garden glow event. breathtaking lights, fire pits to keep you warm, very well organized with 1 way walking, very helpful and friendly volunteers to help guide you. Free hot chocolate and cookies was another added perk. parking seemed a bit chaotic despite the parking attendants beat efforts to guide people. A bit pricy at 15$ per person but still a must checkout during the holiday season.
Justin Murphy
How amazing! Loved the lights this year! We love coming to see the lights every year. Some of the same great pieces are there every year and there are always some new light displays. Never a disappointment and this year was beautiful!
Richard Sanders
A beautiful place! Most of the plantings are well signed. There are so many different areas and all of them interesting it's almost impossible to see in one visit. For local people it is definitely one of Boise's best treasures. My wife and I live in an area that has many trails and one leads to the botanical gardens so we go there on a hike very often. It's wonderful!
Samantha Sherman
Winter Garden-a-glow. Was there for my daughter's choir performance. Loved the little fire pits along the way to keep you warm as well as the hot chocolate and cookies.
Vicky Band
Was not expecting such a beautiful botanical garden. I don't know too much about plants and trees but the composition of everything just worked out really well. See the the photos for some impressions.

SO FUN. SO INTIMATE.
Just saw The Avett Brothers at Outlaw field (Idaho Botanical Gardens) and it was an epic evening. The venue is wonderful - intimate and authentic Boise and the surrounding foothills and gardens creates an ideal setting for experiencing live music.
The Avett Brothers are so talented and their shows continue to entertain us and move us.
This was our first concert at Idaho Botanical Gardens and we accidentally got into the entrance line for Garden members (which was much much shorter and got in earlier - a worth while investment) so we quickly, via phone, joined. Because we were now members we got in early and have seating very very close to the stage (although I doubt there is a bad seat in the house).
We now look forward to coming to Idaho Botanical Gardens many more times - for concerts and for other Gardens events.
Note: There are food trucks and adult beverage vendors inside so you don’t need to pack much. Also note the restrictions against brining in alcohol and limited non-alcoholic beverages. Low back beach chairs only too.
Annie Hoye
Bug Day was so much fun. We collected bugs and loved having the entomologist tell us all about each one. Highly recommend!
Gemma Marie
There is something really special about this place. We visited this place for the 1st time this weekend after hearing great thing's. We were not disappointed. We've been to various gardens throughout the states and can say with confidence this is a very unique and well cared for place with so many beautiful plants and flowers! The care, creativity and diversity you'll find here is quite the emerald treasure!
MInot Robotics
Saw a concert at outlaw field. Plenty of food trucks and if you get there early there are spots in the shade. Ensure you look at the rules prior to going. No smoking, no umbrellas, and no high back chairs....however we saw all of them and event staff did not seam to care.
Shawn Wilson
A long time friend and I visited today. It was wonderful. We had a great time. Looking at all the wonderful plants and catching up.
Andy Tassy
Just a beautiful venue tucked away in an old prison, the gardens are just gorgeous and it's a great place to visit and take in some live high desert music!
Salvador Ugarte
Beautiful garden, it gets really hot and it's a pretty long walk in the sun. I recommend hats, sunscreen, water, and comfy shoes or sandals. The koi pond is a must - the Koi have to be about 2 feet long they're massive!
I recommend coming here for a stroll. They also have a children's area, so it may be nice for kids as well.
Kristyn Hansen
Beautiful garden, well labeled with many great features. We loved the koi pond, water-wise plantings, and the firewise area! But the metal work in structures and sculptures really make the garden a work of art! Tons of dragonflies and cute lizards.
Claudia Lindsey
Beautiful high desert gardens! Huge Koi Fish in the Meditation Garden! Staff are friendly, informative, & helpful!
Naomi Thompson
I went here for a concert so I didn’t check out the botanical gardens, but the concert area is amazing, and we had a great experience. It’s in a great location right outside of downtown Boise, lots of free parking, concert tickets were inexpensive (compared to California!), and a wonderful time was had by all.
Justin Murphy
This year was amazing! No more Covid restrictions! Wander where you want, be around who you want. It was just amazing! Some old favorite attractions and some new favorites as well. Definitely a must see. Great for a date with that special someone or take the whole family!
Karl Huebner
Amazing concert venue. Had a great time. The parking situation was a bit of a disaster. Getting out of the parking lots at the end of the night was a massive issue.
Emily Biss
This place is, and has always been, one of the most magical places in the Treasure Valley. It is an escape from the city, while still being right in the heart of the city. I went to the botanical gardens, for the first time, when I was 11 years old. Now at 35, the gardens have simply multiplied, exponentially, both in beauty and that inexplicable magic. My boyfriend and I recently saw one of their summer concerts at Outlaw Field, and it was truly one of the most incredible nights we've had, locally. We usually travel out of state for that type of entertainment and fun. I already can't wait for next summer so we can take full advantage of the concerts at the gardens.
Craig Childress Johnson
A beautiful emerald oasis created in the desert. Amazingly diverse and well developed gardens in a small compact space. Nicely maintained.
The day I visited, even the small admission fee was waived.
Jamie Kibler Crousore
Great way to spend Christmas Eve. It was snowy and beautiful…it was chilly but the outdoor heater and fire pits scattered throughout helped tremendously. Tickets were kinda steep.
Cadom Skow
Great place to watch concerts, I took tons of pictures of the flowers.
Rory Fargo
Not crowded because tickets were for a 1 hour time period. Relaxing walk and get some great pictures. Summer morning wasn't crowded at all.
Desiree N G Jackson
This was our first time visiting the Idaho Botanical Garden. We came relatively early in the year so there wasn't a lot in bloom yet, but it was a beautiful day and there were very few people so it was perfect for bringing a couple of young kiddos. Beautiful grounds, friendly staff, and lots of useful info about the different gardens and plants they had on display. I really look forward to visiting again in a few weeks when more blooms have appeared.
Brian & Alex
We love the gardens, all year round! Being local, the beauty outweighs the cold!
Kerry Albright
Beautiful gardens looking forward to visiting more often.
Chad Trisler
The gardens are nice and we’ll-kept, and the holiday lights are beautiful. As with everything these days, there are always a ton of people and the line to get in, even with tickets bought ahead, stretched well into the parking lot. We got there right at 6 and got in about 6:15. After about 45 minutes it had gotten so crowded that it was basically like just walking in a line through the garden. When we left at 7, the line was still stretched into the parking lot with people going in.
Jasmine Corona
It's awesome. I never been to an amazing adventure as I did last night. My daughters Jr High Choir performed Christmas Carol's. UT was beautiful. It was a night to remember, with all the different varieties of lights everywhere that twinkled. I recommend going to thiz.
Jennifer Holm
We went for the winter garden event while visiting. Tickets must be purchased ahead of time. Great event for all ages, but I do caution folks that may have mobility struggles. Some paths are uneven, there are some good hills, and some steep stairs. Luckily for us, the weather was clear and dry. I'm not sure how they maintain when it's icy. But overall, very pleasant event.
Katt Ramen
Absolutely breathtaking, it's still a bit chilly for most flowers. But the ones we did get to see were absolutely beautiful. We all really enjoyed our time here, just walking around and enjoying the beauty. The history surrounding the Botanical was really informative and interesting as well.
Katie L
The volunteer staff were all incredibly kind and helpful. Alissa went above and beyond to fulfill a request I made. It's always a great place to visit, no matter the time of year, and staffed by wonderful people!
Jeremy Goodwin
Such a unique location and garden! I absolutely loved the natural yet curated feel of the entire place. Tons of different areas to explore and learn about new plants as well as just sit and chill listening to the many water features. It is worth becoming a member if you live nearby and want to visit multiple times per year.
Roberta Arre
A must see! This place is huge and a surprise around every corner! Right now, it is decorated for Halloween. Every employee/ volunteer we encountered was so helpful in answering questions. So glad we went prior to seeing the penitentiary only 1/2 block further.
Dave Green
Every experience with IBG has been positive. From the native plant collection to the Sacagawea memorial, it's a must see destination.
Gwen Purcell
My family visited the Botanical Gardens on Thanksgiving 2020. Tickets must be purchased in advanced for a scheduled time. Masks are required. There were food trucks. We got coffee. It was absolutely beautiful. Great pictures. We socially distanced from other groups and had a great time.
Stacey Smith
This public garden is a refuge in the high desert of Idaho. We're members and visit regularly during various seasons. We almost always see cool wildlife when we visit, especially lizards, bugs, and many species of birds. I've taken a class at the garden and we've attended several events that we've enjoyed. We especially love Winter Garden AGlow and the temporary plein air art installations. I highly recommend visiting the garden for both locals and those visiting Boise! Way to go, garden staff!
Sassoun Gostantian
Very pretty during the summer time. Not only we see beautiful sort of exotic plants but also we hike to the mountain.
Sallie Moore
October is not the best time of year to visit. Admission price is $11 so was not worth it.
David Roberts
Much larger than we initially realized. It was uncrowded when we visited, and very peaceful and meditative. Admission was $8 for adults and we thought the experience was well worth it. It is also interesting for the contrast between the peaceful gentle gardens and the stark rough-hewn old Idaho penitentiary that is directly adjacent to it. The garden's grounds actually used to be part of the penitentiary campus.
puppy neff
Quiet. Beautiful. Very well taken care of. A sight to see if you are visiting Boise or if you call Boise home. They do amazing shows and art for holidays too.
Jenny Hackworth
Botanical Gardens is always a great experience, the lights were sooooo pretty. It's set up a bit differently to adhere to social distancing. One complaint that I'm not at all pleased with, my son went ahead on the trail and came to the exit before our group and the garden employees wouldn't let him come back through to meet back up with us. This was NOT ok. Just a heads up, $15 a ticket and you get to walk through ONCE, no exception, even when it's for a teenager separated from his group. My advice, take your time and don't get separated.

I have photographed many portrait sessions at the Idaho Botanical Gardens, including a wedding. As a wedding venue, I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a beautiful, nature filled location that isn’t out of town. It’s very accessible for people of all ages and features gorgeous plants and flowers for all your guests to view. They have many gardens, of which I believe you can choose which one to host the ceremony in, and then they have a reception space next to the garden store. They’re very flexible and it’s always a fun place! I’d also recommend this location to just take the family and walk around for a nice day or on a date. They always have fun things to do and see, including a koi pond!
Christian Pugmire
Took my Beautiful wife and my Mother-n-law to the Idaho Botanical Garden this past Mother’s Day. What a wonderful time we had. Nestled right below the foothills and the cross. The Koi fish are huge and really pretty. We saw wild rabbit cruising through some of the vegetables and the water features just gave such a nice, peaceful ambience. The flowers and plants featured were wonderful. Their were quite a few people there visiting but never felt crowded with all the different walk/pathways. I would highly recommend visiting this Beautiful Botanical Garden. If your going in the summer, it does got hot and would advise to bring an umbrella. Though there is shade throughout the pathways you’d probably be fine, just might help to have some cover at your convenience. Several families had packed in lunches as well and were enjoying picnics at the Gardens. Lots of open space and shade at the top of the Gardens for some really nice family time. Looking forward to next time.
Peggy L Misner
Winter wonderland of lights. Great views over the valley. Restrooms, wheelchairs at check-in with handicap parking, firepit warmup spots. Hot roasted nuts, hot coffee, hot cocoa, a building of stocking stuffers and fun for all humans. Tickets online for continuous entry with less waiting. So glad we made this years event. 2022

Updated December 2022:
Still awesome. You should attend the Winter Garden aGlow event, if nothing else.

Let me lead with some personal info, to build trust: I'm allergic to a significant number of things. Ever had an allergy test? I'm highly allergic to 60 of the 64 things they test for.
I tell you this because I need you to understand that this place is amazing. How amazing? So amazing that it's worth powering through the actual medical fact that nature is trying to kill me.
It's beautiful. It's peaceful. It's varied. There are wild growing natural portions, and maintained formal portions. There are sculptures and arbors and vines and flowers and vegetables and educational opportunities and a meditation labyrinth...and more.
Come here. Become a member. Even if you're not a person that inherently loves nature, this place engages at a whole new level.

This garden is really well thought out. It has a variety of spaces that show case the natural beauty of the landscape. There were some small trails and pathways you could follow that made you feel away from the city. I personally love the experience.
Scott
The botanical gardens is an outstanding venue for a late summer concert!! We saw foreigner, who really rocked for a bunch of old dudes! Sat in the grass until they started, then the crowd stood for the rest of the night. Great experience, highly recommend both the botanical gardens and foreigner. Also recommend parking on warm springs facing the direction you want to leave!
Kathryn Vela
It was a fun way to spend a few hours, meandering through the different gardens and learning about local flora. There are lots of nice places to sit and enjoy the scenery, and some great educational signage. The views at the top of the gardens are fantastic, you can see over the whole city.
Maria Ringold
Free strolls through the garden Tuesday and Thursday mornings! Interesting plantings for drought tolerant gardens, fire defensible spaces, and native landscapes. Many plants are identified with signage. Internet walking tour provides lots of garden knowledge. Bring the kids to play the instruments in the children's garden! So peaceful and beautiful.
Hannah La Jeunesse
We loved this experience with our children. We spent 4 hours running through multiple gardens, shaded seating throughout. There was a koi pond and a tree house to over look the pond. There was a children's garden with a steal drum, xylophone and chimes. Just be sure to have a picnic, there was no substantial food onsite.
Bryan Hood
Very nice! Would love to visit again in the spring. Great place to just stroll and relax. Beautiful foliage. Cool little labrynth!
Florepes Paredes
I like the idea of little signs identifying the plants and the benches to rest and relax, plus enjoy listening to the sounds, watching quails feed, and lizard watching me. Sitting under some older trees admiring the colors founded in the sorted plants around us. Beautiful. We are right next to Idaho's Historic Penitentiary. Very interesting.
Pallav Gupta
We went there for the first time for Winter garden glow festival and it's awesome. Children will love all those beautiful light structure they have created. Couples will have a feel good factor. Just be sure to cover yourself as it will cold as compared to the valley.
Logan Affleck (LoganA)
This location is well managed and is chock full of interesting plants and has a plentiful list of events. Attractions include a Koi fish pool, a mediation garden, children's garden, a paved Lewis & Clark themed trail, and several other themed gardens. Many musical or seasonal events happen here as well.
Robin Abraham
Winter Garden Aglow is a special winter treat, worth braving the cold. The lights are magical.
Steve Empey (Stmpy)
The lights they have for the Gardens Aglow display are really nice. The people helping were very helpful and nice. Just disappointed that the trains weren't running the night we went to see the display....

This place is beautiful. While I was there, they were setting up for a wedding. Everything looked stunning! The staff was super friendly too.
Brian Slind
My first trip to the Idaho Botanical Garden holiday light show called Winter Garden Glow. Really great light displays. Cost was a bit more than I would have liked to pay. Paid much less at the St. Louis Garden Winter Glow and it was MUCH larger.
Only negative I care to discuss is the parking...I prefer to back into parking spots, especially when I know it will be dark when I leave and therefore harder to back out of a parking spot, and when I tried to back into a parking spot one of their 'parking police' came over and told me I had to pull my vehicle in frontwards because it is Garden policy. I explained my reason for backing in and the lady looked at me as if I was from outer space and told me it didn't matter what I thought and that I had to pull my vehicle in correctly or leave. Very stupid policy, very poor parking assistant relations.
Greg Stringham
This was my first visit to the Botanical Gardens. It’s still a bit early but this was a great walk and interesting set of displays and information. Great place for a family outing!
Levi Hallman
Nice botanical garden focusing more on foot paths and a lot of natives. Great place to spend the day relaxing and admiring the desert willows.
Lance Sganzini
Great day at the Botanical Gardens! Flowers are already blooming. Perfect weather and not too many people.
Kathleen Sanders
The Idaho Botanical Garden is lovely all year long. The staff and volunteers work hard to make every visit memorable. Right now they are getting ready for fall harvest month. Scarecrows are popping up all over the garden.
megan elizabeth
We enjoyed the Garden Aglow. The walkways were clearly marked, there were warming fires all over, restrooms and beverages were available.
Kathryn Brown
Absolutely beautiful! Very well kept and so many beautiful sculptures! Not super busy when we went at 9am.
Jennifer Mcginnis
Never a dull moment here. The concert was better then I originally thought. I've never been to a concert here before but now that I have you can bet Ill come again. Good time and tons of fun.
Nancy Greer
Savor Idaho is always great!! This year I missed the food tasting events mingled with the wine tasting 🍵. We attended the first group - which was alittle like speed dating - as we had a couple of hours to get through all the booths. I prefer taking my time and savoring each glass. 🍷 …
Adrian McNamara
Loved it! Free event today for Boise bonsai society and koi ponds so we got to tour the Botanical garden as well! Cannot wait to go back! Loved it!
Skuffel
So much to like about the beauty of plants and the variety of birds. Grounds are well maintained. But was disappointed that some of the plants I really liked were not identified with signs. There was also quite a bit of history regarding Lewis & Clark's botanical studies.
Joshua Wizard
The botanical gardens are always a treat to walk through, whether it be spring, summer, fall, or winter. They do a great job of making each season unique, and work to make sure each visit has something new even when the plants are dormant. There is plenty to see, and the paths are friendly to all ages. I highly recommend seeing each season.
Deseire Morgan
This place was really beautiful! There were lots of little areas to explore and great picture opportunities. It seemed much bigger once you went inside and started walking around. Highly recommend!
Lauren Studley
Beautiful flowers and gardens at the base of Boise's foothills! Always something flowering. Friendly volunteers, informative signage, and a lovely gift shop for many of your gardening needs.
Sam Milewsky
An all time favorite venue. The natural backdrop of Table Rock is beautiful
Wil Roe!
Gorgeous event center to see outdoor concerts. If you haven't been get tickets, bring a blanket or short lawn chair. Find a spot and enjoy the show.
Debra Chojnacky
This year the lights were dazzling! The lights are designed to be bewitching to your eyes into a feast or colors! There seem to be almost a half a million lights this year. Some of these new light are changing colors, some are decorative blooms of flowers! New artistic exhibits like the volcano of lights add a wonderful interactive element for families and children. When you go, try the rainstick that changes the lights. Santa is a great, attraction! The lights take you all the way into the footpath up the hill to show all the fabulous winter gardens aglow, and the downtown lights of Boise!
Kirstyn Bowers
While the garden wasn't growing the lights were sure a-glowin'. This is a beautiful event with gorgeous decorations and the overview at the top with all of Boise lit up for you to see makes the trek worth it. My only problem and I deduct a half star for this is that the paths are pretty narrow and people like to walk side by side. I would highly suggest making a line down the middle of the path so people can hopefully see where they are taking up the entire walkway cause I ran into two people and my husband ran into one person.
E G
Nice place, lots of beautiful flowers, and I'm not sure how they keep them booming so late into September! I think we were past the prime, but still worth it. Nice variety of different types of plants too. Thanks.
Adam Decker
Free parking and awesome sound!
Vee H
I was not very impressed. I been to many other botanical gardens. This one is at the bottom of the list for me. However, I did go during early fall so its not at optimal season. It's ok.
Micaela Turner
Absolutely loved the garden! It was quite beautiful!! The staff is also extremely friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back!
Ankit Patel
Close by the Old Penitentiary is Idaho’s state botanical garden with more than 800 species of plants growing in 14 specialty gardens.
Covering 15 acres, this attraction is on what used to be the prison’s farm and nursery and has steadily taken shape over the last 40 years.
One area, the Meditation Garden, features mature trees that were planted by minimum security prisoners in the 1930s and 40s.
Waiting to be explored are a rose garden with heirloom rose bushes and a water garden home to koi, frogs and spectacular lilies, while the Idaho Native Plant Garden showcases the plants that thrive in the state’s diversity of ecosystems, from desert sagebrush to mountain forest species like Pacific dogwood.
The garden has a busy events calendar, hosting concerts in summer, a harvest festival in fall and the magical Winter Garden in the holiday season.
William Bertwell
Christmas lights are up and good to entertain young kids for 1 or so hours. A small gift shop with ornaments and visors to let kids experience lights differently. Can be cold so wise to dress warmly(especially the young and old). Places to sit and rest with fire pits throughout.
eliseo romero
Print your ticket if you go here, they send you to the front of the line and don't even check or scan it. While you have to wait in line to have your phone scanned if you buy tickets online. Took half the Christmas the stuff from previous years away but charge more than the previous years. They're thinking backwards here. Besides that it was still okay.
victor Sperry
It was pretty cold there but the lights were really awesome all I can say is the people that are working there or volunteered to be there are really awesome all I can say is thank you for volunteering and being there in such cold weather 😁😁😁 …
2NuiTofiga
Very diverse collection of flowers plants and shrubbery. Also the koi show was amazing as well as they have a permanent koi pond. Great amount of History stemming from the Idaho Penitentiary as well
Nicole Goddard
Absolutely beautiful even this time of year. Was there almost 2 hours and still didn't see it all. Definitely going g back there again.
Daniel Newton
So beautiful here. My wife and I visited during the summer when they had live music and food/drink vendors. The ambience and peaceful serenity create a great experience. I recommend any who haven't been go, especially if they are here visiting.
Denise Klein Dedê
The Garden was closed, we went there to a Tedeschi Trucks show
James Rodriguez
Absolutely beautiful in the winter time. I haven t been during any other season but do plan on it!
Angela R
Beer festivals, fairy houses, concerts, and beautiful grounds. Such a lovely multi functional garden.
Scott Wilkinson
Beautiful, serene, well maintained, and fascinating as part of the original yard #2 for the Old Idaho State Pen.
Ellen Mitchell
They do such an amazing job decorating the garden. There are so many beautiful structures, music, lights, and SANTA!
Bryan Andersen
The Winter Garden Aglow was amazing! My wife and I took one of of grandsons to see it -- and we all enjoyed it very much!
ricky bryan
Beautiful place to see some amazing Christmas lights. Santa is there and very friendly with the kids. Not to mention that they have a real reindeer there to see and pet
Gavin Lantry
Went for the Christmas light show this year and enjoyed it very much.
Chad Wooten
Great space, went for the Winter Christmas Lights Event and had a great time! They have events year round and always do a great job for the community of Boise!
Sean Flores
Went here for the winter garden glow, it's always a fun time for the family. People saying it costs too much, you'll pay more for just pictures with Santa at the mall. Santa is free here and they also have hot cider and cocoa, kettle corn.
Amanda Hamell
Great time. We went for the Week of the Young Child do they had vendors and music out. Part of the place was closed for construction in April 2019. Beautiful flowers, great kids garden.
ray merical
We took the whole family to see their light display last night and it was great. Anyone that likes the lights of Christmas should see them, they are beautiful.
Spencer Melton
My sister got married here in a private section during the Christmas light display which is amazing and made a beautiful background for the wedding. The staff were very nice and accommodating and helped everything go smoothly.
Jill Carlo
A lot of plants to look at. Very pretty and I loved seeing the vegetable garden and native plants to this area. Also enjoyed the sculptures.
Ed Dustin
The variety of plants was spectacular. The coy fish were the largest we had ever seen. This was during high dry heat but plants were thriving well adapted to there inviroment
The Catacombs
Fantastic place to take your kids in December. We always go as a Christmas tradition. Lights a are very well set up. They also have a train station with a small scale Village th
at the train runs around. Make sure to look for the cross at Table Rock which oversees the lights from the north eastern Horizon.
The lights also give a chance for Idaho inmates to do something constructive over Christmas as they are the ones that set them up and take them down afterward.
Mike Sleep
Probably the 2nd worst concert venue I've been to. No shade, over an hour in the drink line. It's beautiful, and at least it's better than Spokane arena!
Ann V
Highly recommend Harvest Days.
Chad Reynolds
Absolutely beautiful light display this time of year! Definitely worth your time to take a walk, grab something hot to drink and grab some snacks along the way. Absolutely beautiful!!
keuper Stark
Historical landmark features multiple collection museum on the grounds and exquisite BV botanical garden next door. Crazy to believe that inmates who stayed here are still alive and can speak of it.
Jacob Wood
Beautiful place to visit and hang out! Lot of variety in plants and vegetation. Also lots of fun events during the year - the Winter Garden Aglow is especially worth going to.
Andrea Madsen
Beautiful venue. Outlaw Field concerts have great sound and views, but the systen for buying alcohol is horrible. Long lines to get ID checked, another long line to get drink tokens, by the way that is cash only with no sign saying such so another line at the ATM, then back into long token line, then finally to long drink line! It could run WAY smoother for sure. Not thinking about customer satisfaction.
Havana Daydreamer
I went to Outlaw Field to see Passafire & Iration. I will definitely be coming back!!!
Chris Peden
We went for the winter a glow... wasn't bad although the parking was extremely crammed.. they do an amazing job with the lights however. Keep it up, be awesome to add a c hristmas story or animated light show to it.
Patti
Good family fun! I always get my entire family together for our traditional walk through the Winter Garden Aglow. What a treat to find some talented young people spinning fire set to music, with a yuletide theme! That was our favorite part this year. We love the musicians who played carols down below, as well.
ya boi
A lovely garden operated mostly by volunteers. They act as a concert venue and provide excellent entertainment all year, with events such as garden aglow near the holidays
Raymond Lindgren
Always loved this place! Gardens a glow was a success. Cocoa, snacks, strolling, caroling, lights, it went perfect for engagement night!!
Enjoy!! Year round events!!
pete h
Beautiful as always. My wife and I visit several times a year for various events and it is always a pleasure.
Susan Busche
A wonderful place to visit during the holidays. Massive light display...and there are a variety of different types of lights. It is a see to believe kind of place. Admission price is reasonable.
Sophie 67
Beautiful gardens. Things are starting to bloom. A lovely afternoon. Lots of sunshine. Will definitely be back.
Sherri Putney
Beautiful garden. If visiting on a hot day, bring an umbrella. They have some, but run out.
Rob Harrison
One of my favorite spots in town. Great for concerts as well. Staff is incredible too
Olga Pasechnik
Very beautiful nature, and a lot of flowers. Colorful Christmas lights.
Brendon Matthews
Great experience and definitely worth the visit especially during the winter event
Emma “Di” Frost
This was amazing!! Beautiful scenery and loved the wildlife seen on the trails.
Tiffani Fisher
Went here for a Shakey Graves concert. Absolutely loved the set up! Would love to come back again!
Susan Joy
A quiet afternoon spent exploring the Garden and sculptures. Enjoyed the fire wise garden. Worth the visit.
Angel Cervantes
Great place to go for a walk and just be among the many native species of flowers/plants. Clear and well kept.

Was there for the lights and I can tell even without the stunning decorations it's a beautiful place
Petey Deligiannis
The garden and glow was amazing way better time then I except to have. They had free hot chocolate for the kids even adult kids too
gerald altieri
Christmas at the Gardens is magical . The lights perfectly hung , staff friendly . Just a great evening with family .
John J. Sims
Amazing gardens! Beautifully maintained. Tranquil spot.
Jenny Holt
Wonderful! The only thing I would change is they could have made a grade on the lawn so you can have a better view for us short people in the back. Sound was good- environment was good. Lots of fun.
terian98
Beautiful, relaxing and informative. It is a very nice place with a variety of garden styles. Good for all ages with plenty of places to sit and kids activities as well.
Luis M.
It is an awesome place: even more awesome during the Winter Time. It’s magical ⛄️🎄 …
Don Essig
Christmas lights show was fantastic. They managed crowd admirably.
Tazz
I visited these gardens on a weekday right as they opened at 9am. The areas with lots of flowers were very pleasant, and there were even a couple ducks who came to visit up close in one of the ponds as well.
Took off one star because the gardens were rather small for the price they charge; I’ve been to free parks with more flowers and exotic plants than this garden had to offer.
Second reason for taking off a star is that they had 5 or 6 Ricinus plants just hanging out on the side of the path, unmarked. I understand the poisonous beans won’t grow if the flowers are trimmed at the right time, but this does not stop the growth and production of caustic acid along the internode and nodes. This plant is very colorful, and having it exposed along the path with no warning signs seems careless to me.

Went here for the Antiques Roadshow. The place was a perfect setting for filming a episode. The layout and flower gardens was amazing. Would like to go back and look at the rest of the place when it's not packed with so many people.
susie hooten
It's a magical place ! I've been 3 years in a row, and last night was my favorite!
Leane
Beautiful gardens for strolling and enjoying Idaho flowers and botany. Enjoy The Idaho Botanical Garden A-Glow in the winter, but dress for cold!
Audi N Sade
The walk up consists of grassy areas where concerts are typically held. Once you pass that area you are quickly met by the garden area. On the left, there is a covered patio area where you can enjoy a meal, if wanted.
Drake Balius
Was pretty fun to walk through the Christmas lights they do every winter, I'd definitely recommend going after the first snowfall to really get the extra level of wonderment from the event!
Gavin
Definitely not for everyone it can be quite boring if you're not over the age of 70.
Storm Rider
Their Christmas light display was gorgeous and the Santa was almost believable.
Lea Yegge
Stunning venue. The perfect dinner date or a night out with the family. Very laid back and chill environment.
Lea Skelton
So a beautiful gardens so much to see. It took us about 2 hours to walk threw.
Ashley D
Great place for a peaceful stroll. My kids love running and watching for animals. We have visited during all seasons and have always been impressed.
Felicia Ybarra
Pretty cool and unique place. Will be back.
Bianca Andrew
It was so fun I go all the time with my family and sometimes even volunteer with my grandmother 10/10 would recomend
Chase Wilkerson
I had never been to Outlaw Field before, caught the Grouch, Sunspot Jonz, Passafire, Atmosphere, and Iration. Great show!
Simon Genovese
You might think the price is too much... you would be wrong. It is quite beautiful with plenty to see, and because there is a monetary barrier to entry not only is the experience premium, but unlike a publicly accessible park you get to experience that beauty in more peaceful surrounds.
Steve S
So colorful and so many plants and trees to see! The new Firewise Garden was very well marked so we could see what name went with what plant. So extensive...it really takes more than one or two trips to leisurely take it all in.
Laurie Black
The kiddos had a great time... and Santa was there too
Melissa Cortes
We have been garden members for a few years now and on this occasion we went to the Maren Morris concert. The set up is really perfect. There isn't a "bad" view anywhere. They had a decent selection of good trucks. The drink options were great and 44North was giving away some free swag so that was great. We got little tumblers and hand fans. Perfect for the heat.
h marie
Incredible. Beautiful. Amazing. I'm thankful for all our volunteers.
Lynden Jensen
We went for the Christmas lights. It was very well done and stunning. There were vendors and free hot chocolate. It was a good experience.
Doc Kovacs
Nice small gardens. Not extensive plantings. Looks like it needs more...everything.
Dalton Sullivan
Great place! Prepare at least 2 hours to spend here as there is so much to look at!
Zachary Ahrens
We were visiting friends over the holidays and had a wonderful time at the garden lights.
Brian Gifford
A great place to visit and see some beautiful nature and sculptures! Check out the Lewis & Clark plant exhibit and the koi pond.
Carla Bradley
Such beauty in the close up Christmas light displays and the views at a distance are breath taking
Randy V
Was a beautiful night. No snow this year so that was different. Handicap parking was available even though they were extremely busy.
Alexandra DuSablon
Not only is this a fantastic botanical garden with beautiful plants - from native species to edible plants to firewise landscaping - they also always seem to have fun events going on! It keeps us coming back multiple times throughout the year, because it's always different. The summer concerts and Halloween festivities are my favorite. Truly one of my favorite things about Boise.
Candace DeMeester
Not quite in bloom by end of March (obviously, but wanted to warn the less nature inclined), but still wonderful to walk around.
Dustin Tucker
Live music here is just the Best! Really anything you do at The Botanical is always good
Brook Bowen
This is a beautiful place to be winter or summer, and very educational.
Kyle Green
The best venue to see a concert in Boise!
Donna Wills
YaHoo had a merry time. Walking the lighted paths with family was truly nice. Thanks for all the planning and hard work to provide a cheery atmosphere.
Angela Cummings
So beautiful. Flowers around every corner
Mel Rios
Pretty garden considering the area. Had a nice walk with my family enjoying the sights. They seem to offer numerous programs for all ages.
Amy Mitchell
Stunning place! Love their Winter Garden a Glow
James King
Nice Light show. A little spendy but goes to a good cause. Worth while to take the time to go and see it.
Patrick Peters
We thoroughly enjoyed Winter Gardens Aglow at the IBG! This is our first Christmas in the Treasure Valley. You really have to admire and appreciate how much effort the staff put into the show. All of the volunteers along the way were very nice and helpful. Thank you all!
Kelly Sparhawk
We go to the Winter Garden Aglow every year and it always takes our breath away!
Beth Charlton
It was beautiful! Great spot to have dinner with Mom on Mother's Day.
Melissa Horeczy
Beautiful gardens. They keep renovating and adding new things. Just gorgeous.
Kim Nixon
I love to bring my granddaughter so may things to explore and discover
Eric carlson
Way cooler place today than it was when we did field trips. And that was pretty rad. The do concerts. Events for kids....super rad indeed
Elizabeth Dickey
Great music in a beautiful setting. Friendly, helpful staff- paid & volunteer
Mitchell Oliver
Beautiful layout. Not that many flowers, but the layout and other design aspects made it worth the trip. Beautiful place for pictures. Bring water because there is no place to buy water. Be careful with bugs, I got stung by one.
kevin lopez
Amazing venue for great concerts. Sunset was beautiful and the sounds are great
Chuck Cronenworth
Awesome place to see! Especially on Christmas Day...
Royce Stuart
Went for the holiday lights and was very impressed.
Hailey medley
So peacefull, the koi are amazing
Jacklyn Donahue
This is one of our favorite places to visit. My girls absolutely love seeing all the flowers and beautiful plants. There is a great play kitchen, sandbox and cool statues and musical instruments hidden around the trails. It is well maintained and has brand new bathroom facilities that are very kid friendly. The kids events are also excellent and well planned. Our favorites are bug day and winter garden aglow.
Michele B
Off the chart in beauty and friendliness. Incredible place to host a corporate event.
Kallia Chidester
The Christmas lights are a tradition I look forward to every year.
Anthony Mishler
It's a beautiful place to bring family,We came when the glow garden was set up so pretty. We will DEFINITELY come back in the summer!:)
Rebecca G
We’ve done this for a few years and it is always a good time. The lights are beautiful and the staff is friendly and helpful. It’s a great fundraiser for the botanical garden in the off season, too!
SANDREA MORGAN
Such a great time @October Harvest Festival & Scarecrow Stroll!
John Capp
Loved this place. It went on and on. Obviously we are going to have to come back to see what we missed...
Yesli Ruiz
Went for a concert. Other then the aftermath [getting/ leaving] it was awesome!!
Laurie Paine
Great Garden Escape is always amazing. Even on a 100+ day you are in the shady trees, watching the band with a great view of the foothills. Willow Creek & Lost Grove supplied delicious food and drink options. I like to go on a stroll through the gardens during band breaks. They procure eclectic bands from a variety of genres. The Shivas were awesome last week!
Jake Reed
Went there dec. 3rd at night for the Christmas decorations. It was beautiful. Well worth seeing.
Shitsville101
I love the botanical gardens. $9 for adults, memberships available. There's a wide diversity of plant types and they host a multitude of events throughout the year from concerts at outlaw field to winter gardens aglow. Most events are family friendly. They have an interactive children's garden, a pavilion with the Lewis and Clark story and plants they saw on their journey cross country, a little gift shop and lots to explore. You can also rent the gardens for weddings and events.
Leeann Jorgensen
Beauty, information and calm. Great gardens, some construction
Kevin Ellis
Great concerts
Erica Dymen
Absolutely lovely place to tour as well as to volunteer with. I have volunteered with my school the Idaho Fine Arts Academy for the last 5 years doing both the Harvest Festival and Winter Gardens Aglow and we always feel very welcomed and appreciated. The staff are hard workers and easy to get along with, and the environment is absolutely wonderful no matter the time of year. Highly recommend that you visit if you haven't already. The view of the Old Idaho Penitentiary from the gardens is a really cool sight as well.
Diego Hilleary
The place is huge and gorgeous, with a variety of gardens and trails. The plants are well labeled, so I could learn the names of native plants. The habitats also attracted a lot of birds, lizards, and frogs. Bring lots of water if you come in the summer! I'm excited to come back in the fall and winter to see how it all changes.
Nancy Baker
We got married at the gardens. Very small, very peaceful, very nice. Loved the quiet and outdoors.
JohnPaul Jimenez
The Gardens light displays were absolutely beautiful. They do a fantastic job using all of the space to create an amazing family friendly place to take in the beauty of the Christmas season. Traffic gets pretty crazy so I highly recommend going earlier than later. They also do a great job of having drinks for both little kids and big kids.
Valerie Abon
After almost 9 years of living in Idaho we finally came here and I regret not having done so sooner. Lovely place to explore or just sit in a quiet corner. Liked it so much I got a membership. Truly an oasis in the desert. And if you're into birds or creepy crawlies you can find those too if you're paying attention.
Rebecca Lupkes
What a beautiful display of Holiday Lights! This was our first visit to the Botanical Gardens. And it was amazing! We had a beautiful night for it. A bit chilly but perfect for seeing all the beautiful lights that are there. We were even able to get a nice hot drink. The volunteers and the people who put this together I've done a lot of work. And it's just beautiful! We look forward to going back in the spring or summer when the flowers are in bloom to see it in a whole different light. Will be inviting my daughter and her family from Oregon next year to come enjoy the holiday lights at the botanical gardens. Thank you it was beautiful and well worth it!
Sharon Garvis
The Botanical Christmas lights were absolutely amazing and awesome!
Mark Surby
Went for Winter Garden A-Glow and it was great. Really looking forward to coming back in the Spring to see everything in bloom.
Linda Vanacore
Such a beautiful place. It is a must see when in Boise.
Valerie Culver
The Steve Miller and Peter Frampton show was amazing, and great for all ages. AND I got to bring in my own water. 👌🏻 …
Shane S
Beautiful gardens for just a stroll or events. Winter Garden Aglow lighting is also very pretty
Reatha Baker
Went to see the Christmas lights. It was absolutely beautiful!
Kristin Caudill
Winter garden a glow was beautiful as always!

Lyle Falkner
Super beautiful here! The Koi are HUGE!! Very peaceful and well taken care of.
Amelia Doty
Great venue for concerts and other special events.
Dawn Beard
Beautiful and fun. Inexpensive family adventure
Patricia Ponce
Beautiful garden, relax and have your camera ready!
E skiles
Nice place to walk around. Went during the holiday lights. It was very organized. One-way paths and plenty of options to take ramps instead of stairs to get around.
Grace Ocker
Awesome place to bring your family or kids. The winter garden a glow is the best thing here during the winter. Thousands of lights hanging all around making the garden look beautiful. When there’s snow on the ground, it makes the experience even better but either way, everything is still beautiful. They also serve snacks and hot chocolate there as well as getting pictures with Santa or a reindeer. Good place to make memories with the family.
Matthew Bates
Cool location to stop at. They just host events as well.
Sarah Phipps
Love visiting the Botanical Gardens, especially during Christmas time! Fun & festive!
Michelle Rosenberger
We checked out tickets from the Nampa Library. It was a great outdoor experience. Very spacious, so all the groups were able to distance, so didn't need to wear a mask, although it looked like most groups had them just on case.
A great range of plants. I especially liked the meditation area, very peaceful. I also liked the top of the Lewis & Clark trail, looking out over Boise.
toni linquist
We bought our tickets online and the gal at the booth was so kind and friendly. She thanked of for purchasing our tickets online and for coming. We spent about three hours exploring the gardens and took a lot of beautiful pictures. I'm very much looking forward to going again and bringing my family.
TheHolydiver35
It was nice to see all the native plants. Only sad part is you need to bring your own water fountains were off and no way to purchase drinks. But it is very beautiful
Annie Call
The Idaho Botanical gardens is by far one of Boise's finest year-round attractions, from the summer Movies Under the Stars to Winter Garden-a-Glow, it is a must-see for visitors and locals alike.
Amy Storms
This place is beautiful is the winter! The large amount of people kind of ruins the feels but overall nice.
KRISSY CULLUM
It was so beautiful. This our second time going to garden aglow
Kristen Dean
My family and I went to the aglow event during the Christmas season. We arrived about 30ons after opening. The traffic getting down the street to park was pretty backed up, but it was nothing compared to what we saw when we left! So much traffic!! So get there early. It's definitely worth it. It was pretty busy, but didn't feel like it everywhere. people can wander wherever they like first and not all be directed in the same path, lowering foot traffic jams. Never had been before, but will probably be a new yearly tradition. I actually can't wait to visit during the summer and walk around the lovely garden.
Josiah Mott
Very nice display of Christmas lights this year. I would of given 5 stars, but due to the walkways not being cleared of snow from the further parking lots, we had to move our two kid stroller to the street to make our way up to the line. Would of been absolutely perfect if they were cleared for strollers and those with disabilities. Hopefully this post will help make it better!
Lucas McDermott
A sincerely awesome place with great people and history. My favorite venue in the area to catch a concert!
Kent Smith
I have only visited these wonderful gardens during the winter when they are all decorated with an amazing light show, but that is reason enough to come here. It is a beautiful setup with more lights than you have ever seen in one location, and the lights stretch all the way to the top of the gardens. If you do come in the winter, be sure to bundle up because it will be cold.
Angela Forrester
It was so cold the day we went but still so beautiful even in the winter.
Richard Gaskill
No matter what season you come it's always beautiful. On this particular occasion it was during the winter and I went to the Winter Garden aglow event. The lights were absolutely impressive and it was just staggering to me the sheer amount of work that must have got into making this event as amazing as it was. I give definite kudos to all the volunteers who were willing to stand out in the cold to make a real difference to the people who came. Thanks!
Karen Hebert
Beautiful gardens and friendly volunteers. A few trails were closed but a map kept us on track. Lots of shade. A few water features were not working. Overall a very pleasant place.
Joshua Hayes
One of the truly special and most peaceful places in Boise. We spent a delightful afternoon picnicking and enjoying the babbling streams, the soft chimes swaying to the breeze and the gentle warmth of a perfect day. Definitely would recommend!
Jason P
I visited during the winter lights event, so I'd definitely say the event was magical. They had interactive booths where you could actually control the Christmas lights! It was not only fun for kids, but adults as well. There were tons of creative outlets for not only the guests, but also the artists to express themselves through. I'd 100% recommend visiting the location if you're in the area during Christmas time! I don't know about the regular setting, but it was magical during night/christmas-time!
Mj Williams
Everything was beautiful and well taken care of! Staff was friendly and quick to answer any questions. Lots of different areas to look at.. definitely worth the money. Very affordable as well. The koi pond was especially beautiful.
Dana Woodbury
These gardens were beautiful and we were some of the only guests there. It was a great way to spend some time outside. The koi fish were very fun to watch. There was some construction going on near the koi pond when we went, and the hammering detracted a bit from the quiet nature experience, but it was still an enjoyable time.
David Sportiello
In spring the flowers are in bloom everywhere. Definitely a place to go for a simple date to walk and talk. If photography is your thing there are many different types of flowers you can take pictures of. My favorite though is winter when everything is lit up with millions of Christmas lights. The people are friendly the line to get in is reasonable and it just looks amazing.
Candice Bell
Fantastic concert venue and great food truck selection during the outdoor concerts.
Shannon Sanderson
Such a beautiful place! We loved the koi pond and the quiet gardens.
Elkana Kipsang
We had a good time although we arrived an hour before they close. Would have loved to spend at least a couple of hrs there to enjoy the beauty and learn about the names of various plants
Juan Lugo
BEAUTIFUL place 2 hold an outdoor concert....GO 🎶REBELUTION🎷....... …
Жулдыз Исмаил
So interesting place
Eddie Perez
Went there for a school field trip but unfortunately it was raining the entire day. I'm sure June would be a 4 star rating. I was happy to find some shelters to get out of the weather. I realize in May the flowers are just starting to come back so definitely plan a visit in June. Also gotta try the winter displays they have I heard it has been wonderful.
Doni Wingfield
We bundled up, got tasty hot coffee and chai, and strolled through Winter Garden Aglow. The lights are beautiful, everyone was wearing a mask and keeping their distance. The volunteers we're cheery and helpful. We had a lovely time.
Tyler Spencer
Beautiful garden, magical during Christmas time.
Shaina Lynch
Wonderful place and a lovely koi fish!
G-Opal Garcia
Greeted by a very kind lady. Ticket booth girl had a very cute costume for halloween. Visited for a bit, a nice atmosphere. Nice for kids. Not to busy, even during an event. My favorite was the rose garden and the meditation garden. Also the cute corn maze was adorable haha.💛 make sure to have phone fully charged to take a lot of pictures.
Samantha Snyder
Great place to leisurely walk and look at the beautiful plants! It was such a fun afternoon seeing all the different gardens they have set up! We especially loved the koi pond!!! I will definitely be making a return visit!
Andrew Teets
Winter garden is always a joy to behold. totally worth a trip every year. Bring warm clothing!
allison Kerpa
One of the most beautiful locations for any event and epic views of downtown..
Christopher Weston
Always a great experience at winter garden aglow! Santa was there for pictures, they seem to have added more lights this year, drink vendors for kids and adults (try the mulled wine, it's awesome) all make for a great evening out. Bundle up though, it gets chili, especially I'd it's a beautiful night.
BB2
The garden was beautiful i went at night so i couldn't really see the flowers or plants but they had lights and many beautiful stringing or tunnels when i went with my family it was a blast even when i went a few years ago it was such an amazing experience i could never forget it. Highly recommended to nature lovers!
Michael Patience
Didn't see the gardens, but we were there to see Piano Guys at Outlaw Field. Nice little venue. All lawn seating, right up to the stage. Beautiful backdrop with rocky hills, and Table Rock close by. There are several food trucks on hand, in case you decided not to bring a picnic. Parking seems a little limited. We ended up at the Table Rock trail head. We had a great time. YMMV.
Rachel Walcott
My husband I just had our wedding ceremony and reception at the gardens! It was perfect, the staff was helpful, and Whitney (Event Coordinator) did a good job at making sure everything was being handled correctly to keep the gardens as beautiful as they are. Great spot for a wedding and reception!
Kim Hamaker
The display was lovely, paths clearly marked and staff both friendly and welcoming. Winter gardens aglow was well worth seeing.
Kent Werber
The Christmas lights were beautiful!
Amanda Thorsvig
Wonderful spot in Boise, beautiful gardens, fun for the kids, and lots of events that make becoming a member totally worth it. Highly recommend!
Berta Jackson
This place is huge and they always have awesome bands. My only thing would be that the staff check chair heights. We went to Lord Huron and the were a couple there with high chairs that were not allowed and no one said anything to them. Over all this place is amazing with beautiful views!
Kaitlyn Malone
This is a beautiful garden right in the foothills of Boise. Decent priced entry fee with lots of walking space. They offer a map at the front, definitely take it. Lots of cool and unique sections like the rose garden or Koi pond. This is the second time I’ve been and it definitely won’t be the last. Lots of gravel walkways so bring closed toed shoes to avoid the annoying rocks. Also be sure to bring sunscreen as there is some shade, but most of the walkways are in the sun. It’s also right next door to the old idaho penitentiary and the idaho mining museum so there’s other attractions nearby!
Chris Anderson
Went here for a Josh Groban concert. It was amazing. The setting was beautiful near the mountains outside the old prison wall. They definitely take great care of this place. If you’re looking for a nice peaceful place to visit or a fun concert I would highly recommend checking it out.
Sue Lentell
Fairy Garden exhibit at the Idaho Botanical Garden is awesome! You can see it until June 19th!
James Reynolds
It's was a lot of fun
Brian Rhodes
Went for the Winter Glow. It is pretty and a very nice casual thing to do. However no music, or anything to make it feel like Christmas. It was quiet and felt like I was walking around a desert that people put up a bunch of lights. Very debatable on being worth the $12/person.
Jomarie Thomson
Absolutely beautiful and so much to learn!
Gary Balleisen
We visited the Holiday Light Show and it is exceptional. A lot of artistry and energy has gone into this display. Very much a good event to enjoy especially in these trying times.
Lea DeBord
I LOVE IT! wouldn't want to leave!
Carolann W
Friendly staff and beautiful grounds! I love that I could have a little picnic here and enjoy the open, lush space. I’m excited to go back when I get the chance!
Karla Rodriguez
Muy friends and I went to the Idaho Botanical Garden for the fall break and we loved it! 🍁🌿🌾🎃 …
Martin Smalley
As always! Great Experience!
Mr M
Went here the night after Thanksgiving to see their Holidays/Christmas lights show. Lots of lights and different colors to see. Needs a lot of work in design and organization, but still thankful it's there as an activity to bring the family to. There are also tents or buildings around to purchase refreshments along the way. Thanksgiving week will be very crowded.
Courtney J
Such a gorgeous and great place to visit. During the spring when everything blooms, it's fascinating to learn about all the wildlife in our backyard! During the winter, the garden puts Christmas lights out. It's truly stunning. I felt like I was at Disneyland.
M.T. Haskins
Love this place. If your able to see a concert here definitely do. Christmas time they have a great holiday light show
Emily Ford
I took my 14 year old nephew and even though we got there a little after 4 we still were allowed to go in and we had a wonderful time in the short time we had. Lots of amazing plants and wildlife. Definitely worth visiting!
Todd
Visit every year for the lights during Christmas time, absolutely love what they did this year! It gets better every year. If you haven't been, GO! Is beautiful and good experience for all ages.
Deanna Giovannetti
Great family day trip! Has attractions year round to enjoy!
Crystal Odegard
Beautiful lights! Beautiful view! They had a great Santa and cookies and cider/hot chocolate. We enjoyed ourselves so much and highly recommend it at Christmastime!
Lori Hepko-Slye
The Holiday Light show is just gorgeous. This is perfect for a family outting especially ones from out of town or state. They also serve coffee, hot chocolate..a few vendors and a small gift shop. Check it out. You won't be disappointed!
Gloria Geleynse
Love the summer concerts on Thursdays : Great Garden Escapes
Madeleine Matt
Surprisingly big given what you can see when you first walk in. A mid July visit was great, lots of blooms. The koi are ridiculously big! Interesting information about fire wise landscapes, Lewis and Clark, etc. The one downside is that labeling is really sporadic -- so if your goal is to identify plants, this is not the place!
Tonya Lindler
Beautiful, even in October after the first frost
Kevin Rossman
Love the Idaho Botanical Gardens!!! Can't wait to make it out to this years Garden A Glow! We go every year and there is nothing better than they beautiful lights, Christmas spirit, with some hot cider and cookies. This is one of the winter highlights in Idaho so don't think about going just go! You won't regret it. When I was at a local event recently I ran into an employee of the event named Gill and she was informed me on all of the updates of this years Garden A Glow and I can't wait to see it all! Buying my tickets for the family soon as this place never disappoints.
Justin Montoya
Has some hiking trails in the back. Have not tried them yet. Flowers and plants. Some of the art statues are pretty cool. Its best with the winter lights though. They light up just about everything with Christmas lights.
Geri Beck
Best light show since.... ever. Every year it seams to get better. this year they've out done themselves. I always try to go a couple times per year. I loved the interaction light shows. Great job Staff!!
Susan H
The lights are amazing! Can't wait to see this spring to see the flowers. This place goes on and on forever! Santa was visiting and stopped in one of the greenhouses to take pictures amongst decorated trees.
monnie
What a great community effort. All those years I've sent my greens with the compost bin; I have reaped the rewards today. The site is clean, the dirt doesn't smell and the drive is beautiful. I forgot to take photos but i highly recommend!
Ceirra Davis
Beautiful and peaceful area with an abundance of plant life native to the area. Perfect for a peaceful afternoon and a great place to bring kids.
Steve Bedient
Went to see the Christmas lights at the Garden Aglow and it was amazing. Pretty crowded, but to be expected for such a peaceful and beautiful Christmas hike. Going back in early summer to view the native plant exhibits and the Old Idaho Penitentiary next door,
Derrick V
Fun, lights, hot chocolate, and beautiful gardens. Bring the kids.
Mark Schauer
A beautiful, expansive garden! I went just as everything started blooming, so there wasn't much to see. However, there is quite a lot of artwork around the garden, and it's a nice place to go if you want to get away from everything. I'll be going back in about a month when everything should be in full bloom!
John Sorenson
Winter garden glow was great this year, seemed smaller than years past, but it was well run with covid and distancing guidelines. Love supporting this place, I miss the summer concerts.
Josh Hartley
This is one of the reasons we love coming to Boise for a quick weekend getaway. This hidden gem is fantastic. Beautiful grounds, plants, and landscape. Our 2 & 4 year old loved running around each distinct section to find something new and loved the little playhouses. A must do if the weather is nice out.
Peter Floren
Really enjoyed the Koi and Bonsai show.
Tasnim Ara Islam Mou
The Idaho Botanical Garden is a 50 acres garden lie in the Boise Foothills and it is adjacent to Old Idaho state penitentiary. There are different types of gardens: English Garden, Herb Garden, Idaho Native Plant Garden, Vegetable Garden, Children's Garden, Meditation Garden, Rose Garden, Water Garden.
Many events are arranged by Idaho Botanical garden throughout the year. The Christmas lighting (Winter Garden aGlow event) is one of those. The event ran for 10 days.I went there during 2018 Christmas lighting. The garden was ornamented with diverse colors of lights. The garden was clean and nicely organized. The parking was just nearby. Loved enjoying the lighting and the environment with my friends.
Ben Harris
A great garden to stroll around in, and even a better concert venue. Went and saw Shakey Graves here, and it was quite fun. While it was hot, there were plenty of food trucks on the premises to get cool drinks from. The relaxed lawn atmosphere adds a really nice mood to any concert you'll see here.
James Vail
Absolutely beautiful, this place never disappoints..
Susan Thorn
Every time of the year we've visited has had ingress own advantages. Fall was still luscious, with Idaho suited plants, rose & herb gardens. Kids have fun playing in the thundering treehouse, playing drums and chimes.
Christmas is so beautiful with all the lights festooned in the shrubs and trees.
An annual family pass for $99. is the way to go!
Karma Kamil-Leon
I've only been to winter garden a glow, but it was one of the most visually stimulating events I've ever been to or seen. Definitely recommend going! I'll have to go again in the spring/summer to see all the flowers.
Patricia McKernan
Their Garden aGlow is awesome!
stephanie pedraza
This place is a must see if your in the area, so many species of plants and the view is amazing once you follow the path that leads up a hill. We seen little birds and baby bunnies everywhere, my 4 year old loves it here. They do have little streams of water around the gardens but I do wish they had a little pond of some sort to cool off in the summer. Will definitely visit again.
Janelle Ogletree
Just visited for the first time for winter garden aglow. It was fun seeing all the lights and it was a great time walking the grounds, drinking cocoa and hot cider. Can't wait for spring/summer to tour again when the garden is in full bloom!
Jaime Christensen
My Horticulture classes are held in the garden so I am in it multiple times a week and I never get bored. The garden is absolutely gorgeous and well designed. My favorite garden withing the IBG is the English garden which happens to be the first garden you see, but the meditation garden is really cool as well with some rather large Coy fish.
Jackie H
Saw Nathaniel Ratliff last night and it was a great concert. Plenty of bathrooms, beer, and water. The stage was big and the sound was great. Will definitely go again. The website wasn't completely clear but if you go take only low back chairs.
Megan
Love this place in the Winter time. It makes you feel so festive and there is an obvious amount of creativity which makes this place so unique and a tradition to walk through during the holidays. When its not decorated in lights it is a beautiful fun place to have a family field trip.

The botanical gardens are a hit all year long. In the summer the flowers are a spectacular sight to behold. It is the perfect space for both small intimate concerts, as well as the large outdoor concerts or outdoor movies that it hosts. In the winter the Winter Gardens A-glow is a must see experience for all ages.
Amber Hawton-Hill
It warms up quickly in this dry dusty area but touring first thing in the morning is well worth it! It was fascinating learning about the preservation of native plants by Lewis and Clark through today. I also loved learning about edible plants and once used for medicinal purposes. There was so much great information to absorb and the kids loved seeing the lizards everywhere too!
Russell Snow
Impressive lighting of the structures and plants. We attended the Winter garden aglow. I think downtown Caldwell is superior because it has more of a Christmas/holiday theme. The carolers were enjoyable and they were the primary Christmas impression along with Santa Claus whom I did not get a glimpse of because the lines were endless. Just my thinking.
Austin Frantell
Beautiful garden, love the different types of plant varieties they have there.
Scott Mullins
Pretty place really pretty had a great time tons of lights in the winter.
Kathy Cleary
The Winter Lights show at the Botanical Gardens is absolutely stunning. Thousands of lights of all colors have created a magical land. A must see!
Darla Rohrs
Very pretty place and people!
Rachel Aldous
The Christmas lights every year are amazing!!
ThatGirl208
This is a beautiful location in Boise with trees, flower, and plants to learn and explore about. The botanical gardens have events for holidays and concerts during the warmer weather. I’ve been there for my children’s field trips as well. I’d recommend going for any event, date night, or on a regular day as a family.
Kelley Morton
This was an interesting display of native plants. I like the way they have woven the historical nature of the site with the garden. We have been here for the Christmas lights and spring flowers. Can't wait for other times of the year!
Savannah Powell
This place is one of the most beautiful places in Boise. I strongly suggest going to see this beautiful garden. I broug.ht the family and we spent 3 hours there just walking around. They have a really cool tree house for the kids.
Brian & Karen Davis
Had a really nice girls night out walking through Winter Aglow. It is a little pricey just for a walk around a garden and I wouldn't be able to afford to take my family but it was beautiful. Caldwell lights are pretty impressive too, and they are free. Still, I give it 4 stars because I had a good time.
Sean Adamcik
Thank you Conrad
George Geranios
Went to the fall scarecrow event. Scarecrows of all varieties, a band, food and fall plants. What more do you need?
Nathan Hehn
The lights they do for Christmas are awesome! Little pricy to get in, but it sure is awesome. They have food trucks there, which make it a fun night for the entire family. Parking is ok, very there early for the lights and plan on walking a distance.
Melissa
Wonderful garden year-round and the Winter Garden Aglow is a must see family holiday event. A Boise area treasure!
Matt Huston
Winter Garden A-Glow was fun but super crowded. Being winter the cold and wet were expected but they attempted to have fires and warm drinks. The crowds were a little difficult but it is still beautiful and a wonderful date night experience for that someone special. Ultimately I would do it again.
Jerisa Ropelato
They always have the most amazing lights. And its such a good price. And free cookies and hot chocolate!!!! Definitely recommend if you're visiting for the holidays.
Erika Holmberg
Favorite venue in Boise.
Devin Daniels
Went for the Winter garden event. My family had a good time, which is why I'm rating it 4 stars, but I was personally underwhelmed. I would've been more impressed had either they used the lights to accentuate the plants rather than just covering them up, or if they're done something more interesting with the majority of lights rather than just constant-on. Definitely a missed opportunity.

Magnificent views, Winter a Glow was beautiful. Super long walk, so wear comfy shoes. Reason for the 3 star was b/c the website says AAA discount can be given and when we got there they wouldnt give us the discount.
Desiree Camarena
This place was fun, lots to see, and family friendly. Staff was nice. I felt that it was a bit overpriced. I understand there is maintenance costs and employees but I also know they must make some good profit off of special events held there and photo shoots.
Kevin Laslo
Gorgeous! Very beautiful flowers and plants. There is an awesome tree house that looks down into the koi pond that has over a dozen huge koi fish and they are spectacular. Beautiful areas for some amazing photos. It would be a beautiful place to get married at. They do that too by the way. The only reason I didn't give them a five star rating is because it's not the greatest place for strollers or wheelchairs. All in all it's awesome. Must see. Also it's cheap.
H Arnell
Awesome gardens and history of Boise wrapped up in one place
From the concerts in summer to Winter Garden A Glow for the holidays, it's worth the trip every time!
Tilisa Crandell
Such an awesome garden! Staff was super friendly and helpful. Lots of shade to escape to on a warm sunny day. Flower, plants, trees, gardens, ponds to delight everyone! A must see in Boise!
Erin Hagadorn
Saw Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats. Awesome 👍, beautiful venue, very comfortable and relaxed.
Great food truck options! Beer was very reasonable at $4. Love this place! …
Patrick Cusick
They've done a beautiful job with the place. The grounds are gorgeous and informative, but I find it entirely too expensive. This really is a place reserved for people who can afford it, when it should be accessible to everyone - no matter their income.
Dawn Burke
I used to love this place when it was accessible by car. Now it is a long walk to reach and I am too disabled to walk. Friends helped me in my wheelchair last time, but the ride was uncomfortable. I really liked to go alone and take photos.
Jena Faulkner
Beautiful lights displays!
Mandi Oliverez
Winter Garden aGlow was pretty. From what I'm told, prices have gone up over the last couple years. First time experience is fun but not something I'd do every year.
Norm Vogele
I always enjoy a visit to the botanical gardens, whether for a summer concert at Outlaw Field, a walk through the rose gardens, or admiring the xeric native plants and all the lizards and birds living among them. The only way the gardens could be better is if they were larger and offered more of their plants for sale. One definitely needs to bring water, and sunscreen to make the most of any visit.
Ronald Widman
Spectacular gardens. The English rose garden is amazing. Dont be fooled when you first enter as it appears that it is small and rundown. Well worth the price of admission.
Margaret Nelson
Great place to go for a walk. English garden section was very pretty this spring.
Sara Murray
It's so beautiful. I took my 3 year old with me today and he had a blast. We went searching for lizards and he found at least 6 if not more. Definitely going again
Carter Beals
Quiet and serene atmosphere. Lost track of time at the koi pond. Saw a Great Horned Owl chilling in a tree. Definitely one of my favorite places to spend time.
Q Lucas
We took our granddaughter to the Bugfest and she (and uthes) had a great time, the flowers are beautiful and there is plenty of shade and tables to sit back and enjoy or rest, plus the restrooms were clean.
Kayla K.
Its not even summer yet and this place is beautiful! My 18mo and 3yo love it, there are plenty of places for the kids to run and play. The koi fish are beautiful as well
I cannot wait until everything starts to bloom.
Brandon Williams
Very nice light displays. Fun for adults and kids. Nice warm drinks and snacks available for purchase to help with the cold winter weather.
Debbie Sharp
The winter lights were awesome.
Gary Vanlier
Was far more enjoyable when we first arrived in Boise 2006. Used to have high school choirs singing Christmas carols, an many more hospitality tents, with mulled wine and hot choclate, and cookies. There was many more more barrels with fires to stop and warm yourself. Used to be $10.00 per car, now $12.00 per person, don't think we will ever go again.
Suzy Nesbella
I always love the Idaho Botanical Gardens! Whether it's Winter Garden Aglow, music in the gardens, or a good friend's wedding, the Botanical Gardens are the perfect spot to hang out. Beautiful. Calming. Refreshing. Worth checking out.
Elisha Duff
We went to see the lights! Very beautiful! The only reason for 4 stars is because it was pretty pricy. Other than that, so beautiful! The light T.P that responds to moving objects inside was super neat!!
Angela Dibble
Such a wonderful way to spend time with your family! Beautiful, stunning lights. Very positive atmosphere, Carol singers were lovely to listen too!
Dillon Profit
This place is always beautiful! Very kind staff also. I do wish their was a place to buy a coffee or something. I think all they sell is water, maybe they have a reason for it but make sure and stop before you get there if you want something.
S178 Travels
This is a well designed botanical garden. It is smaller than some others but still has a nice variety of plants and gardens. There is a Lewis and Clark garden with a wonderful statue of Sacajawea. This garden is also full of wildlife including a hooting owl. This is worth the stop when in the Boise area.
Joe Maldonado
Great place to visit. Lights were amazing.
Boise Bass Boy
Went for the light festival, they had vendors and free hot chocolate and cookies. The lights were amazing!!
Gabrielle Vance
Early Spring flowers @ the garden right now. Crocus, daffodils, miniature iris, hellebore, just to name a few. I love watching the progression of seasons week to week hear. Get a membership, it is well worth it.
Rich Gummersall
We have gone ro the winter garden a-glow every year for the last 10 years. Even with the current COVID-19 restrictions the Garden was beautiful with friendly staff taking care of everyone.
Caty Couture
We had fun walking the lights for Christmas. Will have to make it a tradition.
Jim Prinzing
Great holiday tradition! Very organized and great friendly staff
N Meier
Fun place to hang out for a picnic or concert in the summer or see Christmas lights and Santa in the winter.
Jenifique A
I thoroughly enjoyed their Christmas lights display. It highlighted all of my Christmas outings for the season. The same goes to my children. The three of them range in age from 14 down to 7
Carmen Gomez
It was beautiful magical and memorable I can't wait to go back again!
Mike Cluff
My family always enjoys this place.
Marnie De Bois
Stayed at the penitentiary for their first overnight paranormal slumber party! It was awesome to be able to go around different areas of the penitentiary that aren't normally open to the public. Got to sleep in an actual bunk and that was pretty cool!
J E
Located next to the old penitentiary you'll find this gem. After you pull into a gravel parking lot, you'll enter a nice area of lovely plants. Good variety of botanicals. Nice creeks running through it. There is trail to a place where you can overlook the grounds. There is a kid friendly area too. Be on the look out for a variety of birds. There are loads of shaded places to sit and view the lovely grounds. There is a gift shop and coffee shop onsite.
Terra Hill
So neat. My family loved it!
Chantha Kammer
If you are new to Boise, or haven't been to the Botanical Garden, this is a great spot for anyone to visit. It is extremely well maintained, and great to volunteer at! Any season of the year is a great time to go.
Addison Biason
Winter Garden aGlow has a beautiful light display, including really cool interactive lights. Hot chocolate, hot apple cider, and cookies are available by donation, and a Dutch Bros truck is on site. (You can also get kettle corn, caramel corn, and doughnuts there!) $12 admission is a bit much, but it supports the Botanical Gardens so it's okay.
Kenzee Bowles
Absolutely gorgeous and perfect for family adventures, date night, or solo strolls. There are both native plant gardens and exotic species all labeled meticulously by staff that is friendly and knowledgeable.
Peter H
Really wonderful place to go see the smaller, independent movies that don't show in the larger multiplexes. Small theaters, fun reasonably priced snack bar with wine & beer and even a cafe menu. They also have a video rental selection of movies. Very friendly place.
Alan Kindall
Great facilitators today and the gardens were beautiful and usual!
Ted Caranto
Better than I expected. Dont be fooled by Google Earth/Maps of the idaho Botanical Gardens scenery. Its worth the stop. I visited early-summer, and everything was great. They have multiple themed gardens, from an English setting to a very indepth Idaho section, there is a lot to see. We even packed a small lunch and enjoyed it in the Rose garden.
Dan Lehn
Went Winter Garden Aglow. Spectacular lights and Christmas displays, Christmas music, hot cider and coco, cookies and kettle corn. Lots of fun. Will go again next year!
Jan Mendez
What a beautiful October autumn afternoon. Don't miss this Boise gem! Very safely managed as well. Can't wait for the sparkling winter evening events.
Fiery Faelight
The light event was beautiful and it was not over crowded. Enjoyed showing my son the lights. He originally did not want to go, annd then didn't want to leave when it was time to leave.
Lisa Crane
Love this place. I'm a photographer and take my clients here for photo sessions. The garden is always changing and something new is in bloom everytime I go back. They also added a ton of activities and play areas to keep the kids amused.
Dana Fleming
What a special place! Happy to support it as it grows.
Michelle Ellway
I took my Grandson today and a employee heard me say we we going to the fish pond. She let my 2yr old grandson feed the fish .. she was amazing... I think her name was Danelle.. amazing person thank you for the great experience my grandson got today
Aria Dark
Love these beautiful gardens. English garden, lush roses, fire wise plants, desert blooms, stunning wildflowers, lavender, Japanese maples, Autumn squash gardens. (Metal Sculptures have become overwhelming in the gardens, tho.)
Kevin
Decent spot. Mostly well kept with cool plants and sculptures to see. The fairy house exhibit is the best.
Bryan Ellsworth
Very beautiful. Only been during Christmas light show but plan on going in other seasons soon. A must see Christmas show!!
Magali Maddy (MmMm)
It was a great visit.
Douglas Ackley
Winter garden aglow is always fun at Xmas.
Gary Tang
My favorite go to place! Especially when roses blooming.
Theressa Bingham
We go every year when they have the military appreciation day during December. The kids really enjoy all of the lights the train and of course visiting the best Santa of the year.
