Haven't flown in several years. Didn't know what to expect following the recent events. I was pleasantly surprised to find everyone was so courteous and friendly. The airport is amazingly clean and comfortable. Got through check-in and TSA quickly. The staff scanner flagged my cargo shorts, so I got a lovely pat down, but even that was incredibly professional.

Super clean airport with great ease of ingress/egress. Well-maintained facility inside and out. Very clean restrooms. I expect this airport to continue expanding as Huntsville’s population continues its rapid growth.

Nice airport with great parking. Wait times have never been to bad for TSA. Restrooms and airport are kept continuously clean. Being a smaller airport food options aren’t the best.

Great small airport. The terminal was well thought out and efficient. Rental cars are across from the terminal -- very convenient. Pleasant restaurants and places to get a drink/watch a game as you wait. Baggage handling is fairly quick.

The airport itself is awesome. Very modern and very clean. The tech represents the city for sure. Only thing is the TSA there is as slow as I've ever seen. If they can get organized, I'd call this the best airport in the US.

Good regional airport with air service from all the major carriers to a variety of hubs. Everything is clean and well maintained. A decent amount of food options are present along with various retail stores.

Airport was clean, staff was friendly and efficient. Don't bother with the ONE coffee place once at terminal. They were slow and I almost missed my flight, all for a flavored coffee. Ugh 😣 …

Clean and Efficient airport. You could even smell the cleaning solutions used at the TSA station.. additional plus TSA has the upgraded bag x-ray machines. Saves so much time.

HSV is the perfect airport because it is not stupid large and immense like Atlanta or DFW or DEN that you pass dead passengers turned to skeletons who never made it to their gate or baggage 🧳 claim - passed out and died. 😱😱😱 Why then only 3 stars for the "perfect" airport 🛫? Two biggies, for several years running, HSV has had the HIGHEST average airline ticket prices in the entire USA. No doubt because of all the federal agencies here like the Army and NASA whose employees make travel plans at the last minute and those tickets must be chargeable and/or be cancellable which drives up fares. Still, HSV has the highest average ticket prices in the entire country so when traveling for personal reasons, many folks fly in and out of Nashville, Birmingham, and even Atlanta. Reason #2 only 3 stars - NO SOUTHWEST AIRLINES. ☹️☹️☹️

Update: Small airport. Very clean. Nice and quiet. Love the people here. Very friendly! Expensive like most airports and limited selection for food. BYOF Small airport. Very clean. People are very helpful. The website boast of serval options for meals. There is only ONE option (Trailwinds) with $20 burgers....that is it. No fries. They do have pre made salads. Expect to spend $30 for a meal. Eat before you go if you can. Plenty of choices for adult beverages tho! TSA line was very friendly but slow.

Such a fantastic airport. Such friendly, helpful staff, beautiful surroundings, and neat / educational decor. Love the gardens on the parking garage. Always a pleasure to travel through! Even on the rare occasion that there is a line in security, the staff are pleasant to work with and help you get to the gate on time. My favorite airport to fly out of.

Great airport! Due to airline delays I landed 42 minutes before a meeting 20 minutes from the airport. Made it because of the quick walk through the terminal and rental pickup right outside.

Its surprising to me an airport would choose tile floors instead of smooth concrete or terrazo floors. Everywhere in the concourse, you hear a clatter of click-click-click-click or worse as people drag their rolling luggage across the grout lines of 12 inch square tiles. Otherwise, it is a very pleasant airport with polite staff, quick lines, and a clean and modern if small facility. I would note when I landed at 3pm every food business in the terminal was shutdown, but when I departed during morning hours several food options were available; but it does suggest one should bring their own snacks to be safe.

When TSA precheck means you get to go ahead of the only other person in line in the whole terminal, it makes you feel almost a little bad. Like, you used a cheat code on an easy level. Just like a cheat code, flying out of HSV makes things easier than they should be. 10/10 would depart again.

Huntsville Alabama.... It's growing on me. Texas native-born and raised. Culture is beautiful out here and so are the people. Construction is going on in the Madison area so that's a little bit of a down fall BUT I'm sure it'll look beautiful when completed. Currently growing. Views are beautiful. A little too much rain. Humidity is high.

Small, single terminal, so lines are usually short. Limited in major airlines and schedules, never seen an international flight leave from here, so it's much more expensive than surrounding airports. Remodeled "beer garden" bar at gates.

Very nice airport. Very quiet on Friday afternoon. They have a pet area. Staff was very friendly. Seating was comfortable. My only gripe was that the airport was very very warm My puppy and I could not get comfortable because of the heat.

Beautiful "small city" airport. Very classy. Ease of checkin, security is top notch, don't have to pull a thing out of your bag. Only have to remove shoes, belt, and contents of pockets. Clean. Restrooms a bit dated in finish and appearance, but well kept and clean. Car rental was really ease, pickup and drop-off. Great airport! Great city!!

Small airport. They need at least one club or better place to eat. However, it is updated. The yogurt today was $7.30. They had sweatshirt on sale at one shop for $20.

I challenge you to find a better airport. It's modern, nice, clean, has interesting features related to space and defense, and has the most efficient check-in process I've ever experienced. You can park 30 minutes before your flight leaves and almost always make it no problem. The signage is great and it's easy to navigate in/out of. Only 15 minutes to get to downtown Huntsville.

I have been through this airport about 4 times in the past 13 years for work. Never a bad experience. Renting and accessing the rental garage Is really easy. The customer service desk was super helpful on getting maps and details of the Huntsville area. Facilities were always clean, and the TSA workers were very polite and kind. Fastest trip through a TSA station I have ever been through. Not a large selection of restaurants for those stuck in airport waiting. Nice large metals on the region on the walls. Not alot of charging ports for this needing power, but they do exist in the passage lounge and waiting terminals.

What i like about Huntsville is that it is small and it does not take any time to get through check-in and TSA. Not a lot of choices for food, but since it is so quick, you don't need to spend all the money.

Love this airport. Small enough that you dont need to be in a rush and big enough for all your needs. The independent businesses like car rentals might not be staffed very late at night but its to be expected. TSA check points are fluid and a 30 minute flight to ATL and you are ready to go anywhere in the world.

Everyone at the airport is so nice. When I arrived there was a nice woman at the information desk near the rental car desks. She was very informative and provided coupons to local attractions. Thank you! Departing, I made it from the rental car return, through security and to my gate in 11 minutes! Even the TSA folks were very nice! What a breath of fresh air. I should just move here.

Outstanding! Huntsville International Airport is a very efficient and friendly airport. It's on the smaller size and that makes it easy to get around. The rental car area is excellent being right next to the baggage claim. The area where the cars are parked is very close and convenient....just a short walk across the street and into the parking garage. The available restaurants are not plentiful, but they have great food. The airport decorations are enjoyable to look at highlighting all the incredible technology developed in Huntsville. The airport design looks very nice.

This is very small airport that is super easy and convenient to go through. The airport was very slow this Sunday for my travel which was a plus for me. I arrived about a hour and a half before my flight, but I think I could have waiting a little longer. One additional thing that I like about this place was the arrival parking area. It’s nice to have a few parking spaces available for when people are waiting for someone to arrive.

A fairly pleasant airport with some puzzling failures on the details. It's airy and spacious, with large glass windows and dramatic architectural elements. The baggage claim area never seems to have correct and current flight to carousel info. It's a small airport with only three carousels, so it's no big deal, but the message received is 'we just don't care'. The arrival vehicle pickup area has timers to show how much time you have left to wait before you need to take turns. On almost all of these timers, the car presence sensors seem to have failed. Almost all the slots - whether there's a car in them or not - show TIME EXPIRED messages with hours and hours of elapsed time on them. By now nobody pays them any mind. It's not a great look or first impression for visitors to the high-tech 'Rocket City'.

The airport was a great experience in this new age of Covid 19. We checked in with ease at the kiosk. The TSA agents were very nice and informative. One thing they did do that I have never experienced before is they patted me down from the waist down. Maybe it was because all the snacks I brought. I am taking three flights today and it's gonna be a long day. We were at our gate in no time. Boarding with Delta was great. They board from the back to the front. Very quick. All in all great experience so far. I will be flying out of Huntsville more often .

Very nice, small airport. If you are renting a car, run to the counter. All the desks only have one attendee, and no preferred lines. If you don't know what that means, walk and enjoy taking 5 to 20 minutes per customer to get cars issued.

Small and convenient airport. The security is fast. I got flight taking off delay due to busy schedule and then aircraft maintenance leading to flight canceled. Then passengers made a line cut through the main hallway. In the meantime, American Airline supporters are still arguing about the next arriving flight will be delayed or not. Also, the wifi signal is bad from gate 1 to 4. Looklike there is only one access point in the middle of waiting hallway. Very nice and quiet airport but BAD service!

Not that many restaurants to eat at. Unfortunately the flight was delayed for 8 hours including almost 2 hours on the plane on departure. On arrival the plane was delayed over 20 minutes for a crew to come and park the airplane.

Ticketing is always simple and security is a breeze. I've only traveled through this airport in the fall and winter. I hear it's a little more difficult in the summer months due to kids coming in for space camp, so take that until account. Baggage is quick and rentals are abundant. Parking is right across from baggage and ticketing so you're not walking crazy distances.

Much less crowded than most airports I've been to, even on holidays. It's usually very clean & they've never lost my bag before, so that's nice. There are a couple places to eat before the security checkpoint & a windowed wall at it so you can wave goodbye until the last possible second.

We were picking up a friend at the airport and parked in the attended parking across from arrivals. I went to meet our friend while my husband waited. She needed assistance getting from the gate and the young man who helped her got his cart, picked up her luggage and waited with her while I went to get my husband to pull the car around. Excellent!

Frontier flight status display showed actual flight delay time of 8:40PM at the gate, but departure monitors throughout airport remained with the original scheduled time of 7:04PM. With all the hi-tech in Huntsville, seems like there was a communication problem of syncing. Interestingly, the FlyFrontier web site also showed 7:04, even up to the actual delayed departure. Sync? On the positive, the big artwork of Bob Womack is still beautifully maintained, and the airport management is very proactive in telling the story of Huntsville with the exhibitions and advertising displays, making the airport a well designed gateway for visitors. Lots of airports, big and small could take a lesson from HSV as a full time trade show exhibition, which is great for commerce.

We live in between Nashville and Huntsville. Without a doubt, the Huntsville International Airport is better than Nashville International Airport. Easier to drive to, easy check in and get through security. If Southwest flew from there there would never be a reason to fly out of Nashville.

Great little airport. They have done some thoughtful things like a 15 minute waiting area for arrival pick up. Limited but nice options for food and drink. Parking and rental car pickup are just out the door. No shuttle required.

It is a great airport to travel in/out of. All of the negative statements about the airport are really centered around the Airlines and not the facility. Yes, the flights are overpriced, but I only travel from HSV about twice a year on normally scheduled dates and am able to book early enough to get a descent fare. Facilities are great and keep getting better. Parking is super easy.............and payment is easy if you use the credit card exits...........no reason not to do so!

Huntsville international airport is a small airport but employees and staff are always so nice. Everyone is always prepared for people flying out. The airport is always clean looking. I like it best because it is small and very easy to get around. I usually arrive an hour before my flight and I still have plenty of time to go throught TSA , find my gate and wait. Signs are posted everywhere to help insure that you get to your gate.

Clean, convenient and comfortable regional airport, but the new Smiths Detection baggage scanners are S L O W. Rarely very busy nowadays but be warned to give yourself another fifteen minutes for this slower scanner at security.

I waited a while and nothing had to download uber and lyft for someone to take me... But that just me. If you already use uber or lyft you should be fine.

Plenty of parking space, easy to navigate check-in, gate, and security. Very clean and nice air port. The only weird part is it's oddly dead here. Last trip I only saw maybe 20 other customers. If only it was cheaper to fly out of Huntsville, a lot of times it's just a lot cheaper to fly out of Nashville or Atlanta.

Best airport I've ever flown out of or to. Huntsville is my hometown so perhaps I'm biased, and I haven't flown all that much, but every experience has been (with no exaggeration) wonderful. The TSA agents are genuinely kind (crazy, right?) and have been positive every single time I've flown. It is clean, the people are positive, and the food is very good for airport food. Though tickets are typically more expensive than out of Birmingham or Nashville because there are so many government jobs in Huntsville, they are occasionally much cheaper than the surrounding airports. Overall a great experience. Keep it up, Huntsville. ❤️

This is a really small airport, but they're gradually making improvements to it. Going through security is always really fast. There is a very limited selection for food so it's usually best to eat beforehand. They have free public wifi, which is nice to stay up to date while waiting to board.

The airport is small and usually easy to get thru TSA. The few restaurants inside are nice and affordable. The only thing I don't like is it's harder to get direct flights directly to Miami. It's also more expensive to fly out of Huntsville compared to say Nashville or Birmingham.

It took 10 minutes to get from ticketing, to my gate. 10 minutes. With 6 people in front of me at the security check in. I've never had anything go that fast in my whole time flying. It's also set up well and staff is friendly.

Beautiful airport, but horrible at updating customers on flight status. The last two times I’ve flown out of here, both times my flight ended up being severely delayed or canceled altogether, but I received no notification even though I had enrolled in text notifications. I had to go ask the flight attendant at the desk to confirm what I suspected, then ended up having to wait to fly till the next day because everything was already booked. This needs to be fixed because time is of the essence when flying.

In fact, I came home on March 17th from my mom's 90th birthday celebration and even without a mask, I felt safe from the Covid-19 virus, as housekeeping made sure that everything was clean along with Delta Airlines! Second time through the airport at 05:00 and the TSA are not working efficiently. TSA Pre check isn’t working or printing on the tickets, the scanners aren’t working correctly so they have to rescan people holding up the lines, and they will give you the full pat-down search even if you do not need it. One agent in particular was extremely rude to my wife and patted her completely down then made her stand there while she tested ‘suspicious’ substances on her hand; total power trip on the over reactive search and testing. I’ve been through several airports and traveled internationally, this is not an airport that I would recommend getting there at the prescribed buffer time. You should get there at least 2 hours before your flight in order to get through the TSA so you aren’t running to your gate.

I would like to Thank Charisse who is the supervisor at American Airlines for all of her help. My plan was going to be delayed and I was going to miss my connection so I was able to take another flight the next day. Charisse went out of her way to make sure that I was able to retrieve my baggage from the plane and also walked me to the ticket counter to make sure I was able to get onto a flight the next day. Let's face it, air travel today isn't what it used to be. The experience flying in and out of Huntsville is about as easy an airport experience that you can get these days. Departures: At $8 per day, the economy parking lot is a short walk to the terminal. I carry-on my luggage, therefore am able to skip the ticketing area altogether (with pre-printed or e-boarding pass) and go straight to security. I've never seen more than four people in the TSA Pre-check line, which makes security a breeze. Free wi-fi is available for use while waiting for flights and the new all-glass jetways are really cool. Ground holds due to Atlanta ATC notwithstanding, departures are quick and easy, never having to wait for more than one other plane. Arrivals: For those waiting to pick up arriving passengers, Huntsville is one of the few remaining airports that allow you to wait in your car outside the baggage claim exit. No need to drive around in circles or wait in a cell phone lot 3 miles from the airport. High airfares: If you purchase your tickets far enough in advance, ticket prices in and out of Huntsville are reasonable. However, if you wait until the last minute, be prepared to pay a lot for convenient travel to/from a community that has a lot of last minute government travelers.

An easy airport to move around in with very nice facilities including jetways with glass sides. Lots of aviation, rocketry, and defense industry artwork (don't forget to look up at the ceiling tiles!) and ads around to make for an interesting stroll through the concourse. On the double TV displays hanging at each gate, one has the news while the other is always an ad reel for local defense companies. The gates are wide and uncrowded, but a lack of charging stations or outlets on the benches is a major drawback. There are only a few outlets scattered among the 12 or so gates. As far as food goes, I only tried McAllister's because everything else was closed on a Sunday afternoon. It was perfectly adequet; neither good nor bad. In summary, this airport is nicer than it seems to have any business being based on how sleepy it felt when I passed through on a Friday morning and Sunday afternoon. I'd be pleased to use it again as the combination of nice facilities and small crowds is certainly pleasant.

If your traveling internationally and are close to this location, I would recommend the Tennessee International Airport over this location. Reason being, the flight cost is almost half for only an hour or two more of driving. Besides that, the airport is pretty organized and if you get lost easy, like me, the staff are always available to help. Plus baggage claim is right near the exit.
