Reviews of Maryland Center for History and Culture
Beautiful museum. Docent Tour very well done.
The Unfinished Revolution
Maryland in the Wars for Independence
The Unfinished Revolution explores the turmoil of the United States’ emergence on the world stage between 1775 and 1815. The exhibition highlights two points that became certain—the country’s revolution remained unfinished, and Marylanders of many races and creeds were at the forefront of each conflict. Opening September 10, 2021.
I really enjoyed the MD Historical Society museum. All of the exhibits were interesting. I especially liked the Spectrum of Fashion, Four Centuries of MD History, the Civil War and War of 1812 exhibits
Great museum for Maryland history! Some great special exhibits!
Come to the MCHC and enjoy the welcoming atmosphere as the history of Marylanders from across the State of Maryland is celebrated. It is a place to marvel at collected art, textiles documents and other items of historic value. Learn, be enlightened and spend a few hours stepping back in history! BTW the gift shop holds lots of treasures!
Great showcase of Maryland History and the staff were wonderful on our 5th Grade Field Trip.
Very nicely done museum! Friendly helpful staff, beautiful exhibits, great gift shop. Library for research on site. Permanent collections and special exhibits. Free parking. Well worth the visit!
Fascinating and underrated museum exploring a lot of Baltimore/Maryland’s history and culture. This place is off the beaten path so isn’t on the radar for either tourists or locals but is definitely worth a visit.
I got there at about 945 am on Saturday. It was nice and quiet and they had a free parking lot, which is always a bonus in a downtown setting. Most of the items are very specific to Maryland (of course) and the associated heroes of the war of 1812. The first floor is a large amount of paintings. Things on the next floor up are very interesting. There is a very large display about Elizabeth Patterson Bonaparte. I enjoyed this the most. They explain in very good detail her story and have quite a few very wonderful pieces. The cost is 9$ for adults.
Love walking through this beautiful eclectic space!
Love MdHS! The museum is full of gems and thought provoking exhibits, and they have lots of cool rotating exhibits and events. They are also a customer of mine and are great people to work with :) Treat yourself and visit them soon!
This is a great place to learn some intimate history of Baltimore.
Definitely worth a visit of several hours. Honest, no punches held exhibit on the civil war and racism. Great exhibit of period clothing, with backstories on the garments. Many fine artifacts from a range of subjects, from native items to everyday prosaic goods.
Great please to visit to learn about MD history.
We had a wonderful experience working with the reference librarian and finding information from the last century. Maryland has such a rich and colorful past it's worth spending a lot more than a day here. The folks here who work here couldn't be more helpful and the exhibits are really informational and easy to use. First-rate!
Finally got to go here a few weeks back. Love this place has free onsite parking ( a rarity in Baltimore) the inside was clean and week kept. Lots of interesting exhibits. A great way to spend the day learning a little history of Baltimore.
Baltimore's true diamond in the rough. To the east are wonderful neighborhoods, to the west you really don't want to go there. The museum was wonderful but the staff and police seem not to care about the homeless man living on the porch of the Pratt House or the condition of the house of their biggest benefactor. This place could be so much better.
Wonderful Museum we went on a "free admission " evening according to their website but they did not let us pass the door until one of us became a member. Maybe 1 day they will have a free visitor or dollar day like the other great educational institutions.
This is a great place to bring your family. I enjoy learning , I had a wonderful experience during my visit .
It's a decent museum with artifacts and history surrounding the Baltimore area but there are better out other options i would choose. If your time is limited, I'd go to other museums located nearby.
It is a nice museum just too much emphasis on one subject.
Awesome museum. Awesome library. Friendly folks. Shame that they knocked down nearly a block-and-a-half of historic buildings and homes a few decades ago, to create what is now a mostly vacant parking lot. Minus one star for that.
Went to a lecture there and had a little time to look at the exhibits. Wonderful facility. They have parking too, a great thing in the parking-starved downtown.
I'm glad we went, but it wasn't a peak experience. There were exhibits on the War of 1812 and the Civil War. There was a big exhibit of old furniture. There was an exhibit about Elizabeth Patterson Bonaparte, who was briefly married to Napoleon's brother Jerome; she appears to have been the Kim Kardashian of the early-to-mid 19th century. There were photographs of Baltimore from the mid-20th century civil rights movement. It was all vaguely interesting but nothing grabbed me. If you want to learn about the War of 1812, go to Fort McHenry.
Great exhibits showing the varied history of Maryland. We really enjoyed the history of African Americans in MD. Definitely a great learning experience.
I only used the research library, but the staff were generally friendly and helpful, and after a hiccup we were able to get the wireless internet working. They definitely had a lot on local Maryland history, and I think I'll be back to do more research.
Great research library and collection
This place is packed with so much information regarding the birth of our nation, the Civil War, etc. Maryland history is national history. The building is beautiful, and you can get some fresh air in the courtyard.
This was a fantastic Historical society museum. Very well put together, informative, interactive, etc. Wonderful giftshop, too. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Will definitely go back.
Great little place! Look on the website and they link to a blog post about how it is a good date spot for couples. Mention the article and couples get 50% off admission.
Just enough and not too much. Perfect sampling of Maryland history. Good for vacationers and locals alike. Great programs for homeschoolers...keep it up! :-)
Wow so much amazing history is hidden within these walls. A must see if you never went to this museum.
Second only to the State Archives, it is a treasure trove of genealogical literature
Amazing place. Great staff and the artifacts are over the top! We learned so much more about our great state of Maryland!
Small and great exhibits. Staff friendly and helpful. Easy parking.
A little known treasure. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The Battle of Baltimore (War of 1812) SURPASSES Fort McHenry!
The staff is very helpful and the exhibits are interesting. Maryland history at it's best.
So fun! i loved the fashions and the quilts, also the photography from the civil rights era
This a great place to go with children and as an adult. I have been here recently with my children which was fun for all of them.
Great museum, interesting exhibition, dont miss the furniture on the 3rd floor!
Free parking and a very interesting and informative museum regarding Baltimore colonial history.
What a great place to learn more about your state and your city currently they have a very nice installation called the spectrum of fashion
This place is amazing and spacious. Great for events. The young lady at the front desk wasn't helpful.

(Translation) It publishes the museums and archives of the Maryland Historical Society. I visited Johns Hopkins University in this town to browse the records left by DC Gilman, the first president. JHU's facilities are still nearby. Even today, the association is located in the heart of 19th-century Baltimore.
Many of the exhibits also leave a strong impression of local history. It is also a museum where you can enjoy looking at the exhibits.

展示物も地元の歴史を色濃く残すものが多い。展示を見ても楽しいめる博物館でもある。
