Reviews of Grovewood Village
Nice place to visit for some history of the area. Details on the wool fabric mill. Also there is a car museum. We also enjoyed the shop with pieces of various things from fantastic craftsmen.
Next to the exclusive Omni Grove Park Inn, this place is a find for anyone looking to acquire unique, quality art pieces from Carolina hand crafters or anyone who just loves looking at art. The Grovewood Art Gallery even let me bring my two dogs inside!! I bought about $300 worth of ceramic pieces and they were all high quality, well made, original pieces of art that anyone would be proud to display in their home or office. Prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly and helpful. The grounds are also the historic home of the old Biltmore Industries so it’s fun to poke around. I visited even though I wasn’t staying at the hotel. Parking is free and plentiful and the grounds are beautiful.
It was a nice little area. Bought a couple of things from the art gallery and the prices were reasonable for handcrafted goods. Friendly staff. Would have liked to have seen the museums.
While there we visited the car museum, and the Homespun Museum. It is free to visit but I recommend a donation . Beautifully maintained museums and grounds.
Neat place to visit. The gentleman in the Car Museum was very friendly. The staff in the store was not very friendly, one especially. I still say visit, there's a lot of history here.
Oh, what a gorgeous place to feast your eyes on beautiful art of all kinds! From the sculpture garden out front to the two floors of inventive, beautifully crafted art indoors, it was a wonderful, visual treat to visit Grovewood Village. The staff were friendly and helpful. I pored over beautiful, one-of-a-kind paintings, furniture, pottery, and much more, wishing I had unlimited funds to buy the beautiful carved dresser, the playful koi bench, the fox painting on wood...and so much more! Visit Grovewood's web page for a taste of what you'll find on site. Better yet, make a personal visit, or two, or four.
Unique pieces of art. Friendly staff. Beautiful outdoor art for pics
Whether you’re staying in the Grove Park area or you’re staying at the Omni Grove Park Inn make sure you check out Grove Wood Village. We had a spectacular time lots of art and history. Fun for all ages. If you’re staying at the grove park and they offer free shuttle service. Guest services should be able to help you locate the shuttle.
I loved this place. There are very interesting museums located at this village. You can enjoy here an awesome collection of old cars for free. Also can enjoy the work of many good local artists and buy their work. The nature that surround this museums is very beautiful too. I recommend this place as a good Sunday destination with family or friends.
We thoroughly enjoyed walking around and seeing all the art work and building structures. Although the antique car museum was closed during the time we came. We came on tuesday and they open up Wednesday through Sunday. Its definitely a place to visit.
I'm not sure why previous reviews were mixed. The auto museum is stunning, even if cars aren't your thing. Next is the gift shop which is massive and so inspirational. The artist studios were closed. All the staff I encountered were so friendly and really wanting to help with information. Oh yeah and there's a cool little museum about textiles where you definitely start. The sculpture gardens are so cute and relaxing. Driving up to the village is also a treat. The homes are beautiful and well landscaped, each super unique.
There's free parking and you can explore this old village and see artist work and cool items to buy along with some history some of the history here is quite amazing it's a beautiful walk and it's a beautiful atmosphere.
Local craftsmanship and worth visiting for the exquisite array of furnishings, wind devices, jewelry, clothing and a few antiques. The antique car museum is also a must see! Check out the old firetruck and other vintage vehicles from the 20s through the 50s. Plan to spend at least a couple of hours and have lunch at the café.
We went to Grovewood Village to go to the Grovewood Gallery, which has a beautiful selection of furniture and pieces of art of different types. We purchased one for a gift and we’ll always go back to look for something special.
Great place to see and Purchase Art, Jewelry etc... Antique Auto Museum was closed upon my visit. If it had been open I would have gave it a 5 star.
This is a little shopping area at the Grove Park Inn. We didn't realize they had a small classic car museum! They had about a dozen classics in relatively good shape. Great information on all the vehicles. No charge to visit but they do have a donation box so be sure to drop in a few $$ to help keep this place open!
This museum is filled with so many beautiful cars. And the history was something that I can not even put words to. For those that have never been here it is definitely something to see. It is located behind the Omni Grove Park Inn. It is in fact all one place, it's confusing for anyone who hasn't ever been. Just park and take a long beautiful walk! 😍😍
Loved the history, the art in place, the local artist offerings... And the staff were nice and engaging - always willing to share a story. Plus 1 for the drive in too - great views.
AWesome car museum, amazing things at the art galleries. No fees to get in,just wear a mask.
A nice place to visit in North Asheville. Love the outdoor scupture garden. Car museum isn't open right now.
Nice antique car showroom and an art gallery nearby. Be sure to check out the hotel lobby and views outside.
A step back in time visiting the Car Museum. Loved it and friendly staff. The artistry in the village is creative and inspiring. A great history lesson on the early beginnings of Asheville money.
Known today as Grovewood Village, this historic site once housed the weaving and woodworking operations of Biltmore Industries, a noteworthy enterprise in the history of American Craft and textiles, founded by Edith Vanderbilt and two inspired teachers, Eleanor Vance and Charlotte Yale. Our 11-acre property, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is home to Grovewood Gallery, working artist studios, a sculpture garden, Golden Fleece restaurant, the Biltmore Industries Homespun Museum, and Asheville's only antique car museum.
This was a great place for a quick stop. Especially if you have a car lover in the family! It's free but donations are appreciated!
Very cool place. ELDR restaurant is excellent. Purchased a new lamp at the gallery next door too.
Parts were closed, but the sculptures were nice to see. I enjoyed some of the art inside for sale, but didn't want to spend too much. If staying at the Grove Park Inn, I'd walk right on down and have a look around.
Beautiful neighborhood! Be sure to check out the classic car museum and the art gallery where you'll see sime of the most beautiful handmade furniture!
Nice stop for a couple of hours, cars were great to look at,and arts and crafts were pretty good.Nice setting and free.
Nice place. Cool old stuff. Dye building was. Ot open, but looked interesting
Great place, beautiful gallery and car museum. Love it!
Beautiful artwork quite pricey though. Car museum was nice
Great artwork lots of beautiful stuff and a few old cars too
Interesting information about the building of the Grove Park Inn and the families who lived here.
Fun place for a rainy day! Nice people. Fantastic art in the showroom/studio. Weird hours on most of the buildings on sight. Call ahead to make sure they’re open.
The art gallery has beautiful items and all for sale. Prices are for the well to do not average folks so it's a look but unable to buy place. The car museum had knowledgeable staff and cars are awesome. It's amazing too since 1 family owns all of them.
A beautiful gallery with some of the finest glass work, and wood work you will ever see.
A must do! Great experience, quiet, full of history and art.
Sculpture Garden is incredible. The Automobile Museum is a must if you’re even just a little bit interested in cars. Love that they support local artists in the Art museum. Enjoyed lunch on the terrace at the Grove Park Inn.
Beautiful facilities. Great car museum. Art Gallery is terrific. Fantastic furniture at the art gallery. Lots of eclectic wood work and lighting products.
Cool places to explore. Helpful staff willing to engage in informative conversation.
Awesome place if you're in Asheville you got to visit botanical gardens is right down the road you could spend all day there. I couldn't believe it was donations only and I was very happy to give.
This is a fun little excursion. A walk back in time and a look at furniture from local artist that fits with the natural feel of the area
The best and most interesting venue outside of the Biltmore Mansion. Much better than Biltmore Village.
Lovely gallery with local artisans' work. Interesting history of location along with fabulous antique car collection.
All in all a great place to visit. Went for the antique car museum, the homespun museum, and the gallery. Was not disappointed at what was offered. This place is full of history and it’s great to see a piece of history being preserved so well. The location is very good for us as we’re only doing a quick visit in Asheville. It’s not far from downtown, and parking and admission is free.
O my goodness! It was amazing! The whole village had anything that you would want to do or need. A very upscale restaurant, a yoga studio, museums. This place is dated back in time, but brought up to date. It is absolutely beautiful!! The Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC is A MUST SEE! It's a gorgeous hotel and restaurant!
Enjoyed the car museum. Mostly 50s or older vehicles. The small textile museum is interesting too. The connected gallery has a wide selection of artistic products from local artisans. Be sure to visit the second floor of the gallery shop which display for sale some unique and fantastic furniture showing some great craftmanship and style.
We really enjoyed our time here. The car museum was well done with some interesting cars. The mill museum had some nice examples of Roycroft furniture and other artifacts from the original mill. The gallery was amazing. Lots of awesome hand made furniture and such. Believe it or not our entire family enjoyed it.
100 times worth the visit for the car and wool weaving museums! Kids and adults loved this attraction equally. Beautiful grounds complete with sculpture garden. Knowledgeable and friendly staff.
Amazing art gallery and museums. Great historical buildings!
This is a fun little outing! Come see a collection of old cars and if you come during one of their special events you can check out what the local artists were making!
They also have a shop with handmade home goods, jewelry, furniture, and other cool items. This is a cool getaway in the heart of Asheville.
Excellent Arts and Crafts, some of the finest wood furniture I have ever seen. The Textile Museum was small but full of information and history. The Car Museum really fascinating. Some cars I had never heard of and very informative history plaques with each vehicle. An Absolute must see for anyone visiting Asheville. It is actually quite hard to find but is literally right next to the Grove Park Inn, although it cannot be seen from the hotel. I venture to say not many people know about this gem.
Car museum and art studio/shop was great. The Golden Fleece restaurant has been closed for 2 years!
This is a neat little get away place that is hidden by the crowds and the Grove Park Inn. It is actually next to the Grove Park Inn, but on separate land. There is an art gallery, two free museums (antique car museum and Edith Vanderbilt's Biltmore Industries, which is who built the quaint buildings) and a restaurant.(the Golden Fleece) Parking is free. The lawn has artwork and places to sit and a great view. A hidden gem.
Beautiful location on the property of the Grove Park Inn. I was here to visit the Grovewood Gallery. I didn't have time to check out the other businesses. I'll definitely make a trip back for the other shops and museums.
Great place to visit if you love art.
A great destination for a day trip. Plenty of awesome art inside and out and lots of cool cars in the museum. Worth checking out if you're in the area.
Lovey little area with interesting things to see and places to shop. Lots of local history.
Beautiful spot to stop and shop for fine crafts, grab a bite to eat and a greek-inspired restaurant, visit an antique car museum, or just stroll the sculpture gardens. Be sure to take the free tour of Biltmore Industries, which once made the finest cloth in the US, if you're there mid-day (Wed-Sat).
Great classic car musium , art and craft shop has beautiful and joyful pottery and ceramic art and wood furniture , definitely shouldn't miss this place if in Asheville NC .
Cool private car collection with rare Cadillac Eldorado with stainless steel top.
I visited there with some friends and my daughter. Everybody was kind and helpful, it was beautiful that day and the place was a great experience. Lots of amazing things to see. I would recommend this trip to everyone.
Just a nice little piece of history. Probably shouldn't plan to spend more than an hour there.
The car museum is fantastic.
Lots of old cars with detailed descriptions to learn about them and their history. They are very well taken care of and look great. The worker there was very friendly.
We ate lunch at Edison Craft Ales & Kitchen which was absolutely delicious with great portions. We really enjoyed the views of the Great Smokey Mountains from our table.
A wonderful area to visit within walking distance of the Grove Park Inn. They also provide shuttle bus. It has an art gallery, restaurant and a antique car museum.
The antique car museum spot on-donation only entry. The history of the woodcarving & homespun woolens were fascinating too bad they have become a lost art.
Loved visiting this shop! The furniture, art and accessories were just gorgeous.
There is a nice gallery to visit and a car museum, we enjoyed the visit
Very interesting with captivating historic facts & beautiful cars!!!
Incredible place to visit. Free parking. There's the car museum as well. Loved visiting here.

Beautiful! An opportunity to spend a few hours enjoying the sights, buildings, shop and museum. Treat your senses and check it out.
We liked the car museum and artists store... High end crafts to purchase and enjoy
This is an incredible gallery. It is behind the Grove Park Inn (also an incredible destination). Make the effort and set aside the time. You will be glad you did...
Wasn't able to go into some of the places because they weren't open. The outside of the gallery was awesome!
Crazy overpriced had some wood statue lookin thing, for 14000 bucks, about the size of a clarinet case. Wierd.
Beautiful and unique art and the antique car museum is awesome.

The art gallery is the best for local artists. Golden Fleece has great food.
Tucked away beside the Grove Park Inn. Neat little car and homespun museums and a very good art gallery of local artisans.

Cool area with neat car museum and art gallery.
We always take company to Grovewood Gallery and the antique car museum. Always a great day.
Nice gallery and the antique car museum was fun.
The car museum is totally worth it. Plus its pretty close to downtown
Some interesting art pieces but I'm not sure it's worth making a trip if it's out of the way for you
A bit hard to tell which shoos are ooen and which are just workshops for the artisans.
Always interesting in a great setting. Gift shop, furniture and antique auto museum.
Beautiful scenery, near the Grove Park Inn and it has the amazing Gold Fleece restaurant
Lots of history and lots to do. Good place to spend a day or stay for a few nights!
Nice decor/landscaping. But difficult to navigate at night. Needs more lit signage.
Nice places and friendly staff and in all the shops.
