Reviews of Asheville Ghost Tours: Oldest & Original

This was a two- hour walking"ghost tour," but it also included a lot of historical information that I never knew about Asheville, and I'm from NC! I wouldn't recommend it for small kids, because it is two hours and walking around the city. Overall, it was really, really good. I saw parts of Asheville I had never seen. Wear comfy shoes.
Stephanie Ballinger
Husband and I just did this tour on our vacation and despite the ten degree weather it was super knowledgeable and so much fun! We loved Brian's personality and thought he made everything so much fun! Knew a lot about the history and was honest about old findings, new findings, and those told by actual witnesses. We thought his honesty and knowledge really set this tour above the others!! Would definitely recommended checking out when in the area!
Kristin Roser
This walking tour is a must do for anyone visiting the area and those who want a spooky spin on Asheville culture and history. We had the pleasure of touring with Brian —a wonderful storyteller, sharing true historical facts and how the paranormal are entwined. Truly fascinating sites, local facts, and lots of fun! 🤩 …

What a wonderful way to walk and see the lovely Asheville from a locals eyes - and get some of it's sordid history as well. Tad's energy was AMAZING - you can see in the pictures that he comes alive talking about the haunted history of Asheville! I can't imagine a better guide.
Tad, I even caught the exact moment you checked in with me - "stills or video?"
I thought you might get a kick out of it! 🤣

We did the walk though tour and It was awesome. Our tour guide was the greatest. Not only do you get stories of paranormal activities but also back stories and also you learn about some really cool history of Asheville. I would definitely go back again to do another tour. I added some pictures of the places you're told about on the tour.
Jill VanMatre
Our group had a wonderful time on the tour! Christian was so knowledgeable of the area & was a fantastic story teller. It was just the right combination of scary, exciting and fun. We really enjoyed our experience and I highly recommend! One of our group members also got a creepy picture of a white shape in the church window!

This ghost tour is so very worth going on, you get so much more for your money too. It's a walking tour of different haunted spots in downtown historic Asheville at night.
When you meet at the Masonic Temple it begins getting eerie already then after the guide gets the group together you'll begin your walk to different haunted spots such as the old Battery Park hotel where Helen Klevinger was killed, Thomas Wolfes home, and The Dueling Piano, one of the most haunted bars in the state along with several other interesting and creepy stops.
The guide we had was great, I loved that he told lots of history and background stories on each place as well as the paranormal activity he's witnessed at each location. He would show us pics and tell us about investigations they've done before at the places we stopped. You can tell he really enjoys guiding the tours, loves the paranormal and was friendly and humourous. He also gave everyone on the tour plenty of time to check out the places for themselves as well as take lots of photos. I didn't feel rushed at all. He even let me discuss and show pics I'd captured of the Brown Mtn Lights.
The tour itself took a little over 2 hours and they have different types of tours you can take as well which I plan on doing in the near future. I got some incredible pics, lots of different pics of orbs floating around, shadowy figures standing in windows, and a bright light coming from a church window when the building was totally dark.
If you're in Asheville and you're looking for something to do at night and you're into the paranormal then I highly recommend this tour. It's such a fascinating and interesting way to spend a evening. The whole reason I chose this tour rather than others is that it's ran by my favorite paranormal investigator Joshua P Warren and it didn't disappoint at all, it's the best ghost tour I've ever been on and I've been on several plus Asheville's just awesome, the whole area just feels lit up with paranormal energy and history. I'll definitely be going on more tours when I'm in Asheville again which I hope is very soon!

Tour guide is incredible. Lots great history and legends. Will Harris is a crazy story. Even my 11 year old enjoyed it.
Makayla Hannah
Tad did a great job with the walking tour! He knew lots about the area and it’s history. Learning how Asheville was developed was very interesting. I learned a lot of crime/ghost stories that circulate the city too! If you’re into supernatural and ghostly things you should consider this tour. I just recommend wearing something comfortable since you’ll be walking around downtown.

My family and I went for a short trip to Asheville so we had limited time to do as many things as possible. This experience was by far the best part of the entire trip. Brian was an amazing tour guide, if I could think of the highest possible compliment I would give it. He truly loves what he is doing and his extremely knowledgeable story telling crafted the best ghost tour I have ever been on. He went above and beyond sharing personal experiences and photos after the tour was over and hung out to speak with the guests personally.
Abbie Cozzini
Our tour guide was super awesome and good at what he does. I was impressed by his knowledge of Asheville and passion for all things legend and haunted. I am very glad to have decided to book this tour. My only recommendation to the company is to limit the number of people on the tour a little more. Our group felt like it was too big (there were probably 25+ people). Thankfully, Brian handled this large group size like the pro that he is!
Chelsy McGowan
Brian was amazing and made our walk around the town thrilling! Loved learning more about Asheville and the paranormal twist. I wish we took this tour early on in our vacation stay so we had time to visit more of the city that we didn't see before we took this tour. Definitely recommend!
Keri Janee
Absolutely amazing tour! Learned a lot about Asheville I never knew about. Brian was a great tour guide! Knew a lot. Definitely stay after for pictures and a few stories from Brian himself. Highly recommend for a date night.
JRJ STUDIO
Tour guide was very knowledgeable, and was very open to questions, me and my family were lucky to get into a smaller group, and were treated greatly. I would love to see more of Asheville soon, and will be returning as soon as possible to continue my exploration. Thank you for the great experience.
Rachel Smith
Tad was the absolute best of the best. Could not have asked for a better tour guide. Very entertaining and he knew so much history about Asheville on top of the ghost stories he told. I could only wish Tad did stand up comedy because I could not stop laughing the entire time😄
Shannon DeVita
Brian was amazing! He definitely made the tour an experience to remember! He brings amazing energy, stories, history and information to keep you engaged! Be sure to bring your walking shoes since it lasts 2 hours or more but it is definitely worth every penny!
Daniel Roman
Tour was ok, say middle of the road for storytelling. Worth doing for anyone on the fence. Storied were ok but telling could of been a bit more refined. I would caution not to over exaggerate things. 1000 year old elm trees… I noticed some bad reviews and these kind of things can turn people off. I also would say you can’t take all the stories so seriously like some bad reviews state. For me personally having done a number of ghost tours, the the quality of storytelling is of most importance. I liked the speaker that he used. Huge groups on this one. More of a heads up. Generally you never see more than 40, there had to be 100 or more and he said they can do up to 200… his words.
Martin Bedwell
Brian was our tour guide and was wonderful! We learned so much about the town, heard some wonderfully spooky stories, and even got some food recommendations that we followed up on. 5 Stars, no question.
Nicole Nicole
I had a great time with our ghost tour guide Tad. He had so much energy and his love for the stories was evident. This was a great last minute addition to our Biltmore trip and we enjoyed it immensely.
Holly Skornik
So we originally didn't plan on doing this ghost tour but we met a couple at dinner that just got done going on this ghost tour. They said they have never been that scared in there life. So we booked it the next day. We wanted to be spooked. Our tour guide right off the bat told us he has never seen ghost. That we wouldn't see anything because he thinks itd too busy in ashville got ghost. It felt like it was more of a history walk. He really just killed the mood. I wish we had someone more into it like the couple we met had.
Jo Ellen Fisk Cloyd
Bryan was great! He told amazing histories & stories! Didn't see a ghost tonight, but had an excellent time. Helpful hint: wear tennis shoes.
Cristina Arroyo
This is a fun and interesting tour! We learned a lot about Asheville history and also about old legends and spooky places and Asheville ghosts. Walking the city at night is wonderful as we could take our time to look at so many architectural details! The ghost stories, the interesting places and the knowledge of our guide made our night so special!
Terri Carr
Was looking for something for my daughter and I to do since we had a car rental for the weekend for a different event the previous day. Found this online last minute and had just enough time to drive from the other side of Greensboro to make the tour. So glad we did because it was not a disappointment. Even got to enjoy a little bit of the Asheville nightlife! Great experience and great town!
Mike H
This ghost tour was ok, I’m not sure why it has such high reviews. I’ve been on a few ghost tours in different cities and this tour wasn’t the best. The guide met with us and gave us all umbrellas because we had some storms forecast that evening. My umbrella ended up being broken and didn’t work to well lol. Some of the facts you learn are true but may of the ghost facts are fabricated as I called around and checked the next day. You will walk a few miles on this tour so have on some good walking shoes.
Kaitlin “Katie”
Loved the tour. My boyfriend and I had Brian as our tour guide. He was really funny and very knowledgeable about the city and genuinely enjoys what he does which makes it so much fun for everyone. The history was really interesting and he talks a lot about first hand experiences with ghosts too. We loved walking around the city and listening to the stories. I highly recommend this tour.
Daniel Williams
Had a wonderful time! Definitely recommended this tour, Chris did a wonderful job, would definitely come back and do another tour!
C M
I gave this 4 stars because of Tad's energy and knowledge of the legends and history of the area. I have been on other ghost tours and fully expected it to be full history and local lore. My issue was the crowd was way too large for me personally and the raucous night life with the loud cars proved distracting. If you don't mind large crowds and listening from afar to your guide as loud mufflers and music go by then Tad is your guy. None of these thing were foreseeable for my husband and I. Tad is truly a talented and energetic storyteller. The setting just wasn't for us. With that being said, you may love your experience. I'll stick to smaller groups and lesson learned I will ask questions in the future before booking a tour regarding group size, the area itself, etc.
Ashley Jackson
Went to Asheville to celebrate my 25th birthday and did the Supernatural Tour with Tad (Tadpole) as our tour guide, April 1st. He was so knowledgeable yet made the tour a blast by being so personable, friendly and entertaining! My only complaint, is that I wish the tour was longer than 2 hours! I love this kind of stuff!
Jackson Lawrence
A great tour of asheville packed with a ton of historical information about the town as well as spooky ghost stories. Tad was a fantastic tour guide and his experience in the area really shows. Two hours flew by and the walking really wasn't bad.
Pat Cannon
This tour was a lot of fun. Our tour guide Tad is an excellent storyteller and seemed very passionate about the history of Asheville's historical buildings and their reported paranormal activities. I highly recommend this tour.
Ryan Sparks
Highly recommend. Our tour guide was a great story teller and was very knowledgeable about the history of the city. Tour guides are also paranormal investigators so they have many first hand experiences regarding the stories/legends and all things spooky!
Jordan “Elmerstudd007” Pfluger
Had an incredible time on this tour, very historically informative and good exercise. As a local to Asheville I can say it is still very interesting and fun even if it is just to see all the tourists take spooky pictures. I will give the warning that to those who are not used to walking long distances or up hills there could be some issues with the walking tour though our Guide was very kind to wait for the slower individuals catch up, Highly recommend.
Brett Ball
Christian was great. Very informative and entertaining. I have to be honest though. At times I couldn’t tell if he was acting or just really into what he was talking about. I’m definitely planning on doing some fact checking on some of the stuff that he told us. Overall it was a fun experience.
Melissa Riddle
Brian was our guide and you can tell he really has a passion for his job. The stories were interesting and he was super friendly. Even in the rain it was enjoyable
Delaney Evering
My fiancée and I went on this tour January 1st guided by Tad. Seeing that both of us are from out of town, it was an interesting insight into the history of Asheville combined with fun ghost stories. Although the tour lasted 2 hours it absolutely did not feel that way! Tad was an excellent tour guide, answering any questions we had despite at times being outside the scope of the tour. We strongly recommend everyone visiting Asheville to go on this tour whether you are into history or ghosts or just want to explore the city by foot there is something for everyone!
P.S, Tad is an excellent story teller and clearly very passionate about Asheville and its history, even the spooky parts. We would definitely go back for another tour with Tad!
Ethan Perry
Great experience! Brian was awesome. We loved touring the city while also learning about the history. The stories were entertaining and engaging. It definitely helped to bring good walking shoes and dress for the weather. Thanks!

Jason Scuglik
A fun and entertaining tour of a neat city. Our guide Tadd was knowledgeable of the area and events of interest to our group. His stories kept the group engaged for the entire time. There is a bit of walking so bring some comfortable shoes, but not so much that it was exhausting. It certainly gives one some background on the area that you won't get elsewhere! Totally worth the price and time involved! We had a rather large group on this tour and I never had trouble keeping up or hearing the guide, so he did a great job managing all those people. Highly recommended!
Ed Stanley
This was a great and interesting tour. Brian, was a captivating storyteller. His knowledge of the history of Asheville and the information surrounding the history of paranormal activity is spellbinding. His ability to hold you on the edge of your seat with surprising information and humor will keep you laughing and scared at the same time. This tour is well worth the walk around the town to the haunted locations in Asheville.
Alyson Clifford
We have done a lot of ghost tours over the years and this is by far the best one! Brian was an amazing guide and was very knowledgeable about the history and ghosts of Asheville.
Jon Elmquist
We took the tour last weekend and we were well entertained. Tad provided a great experience with his story telling to set up the supernatural aspect as well as being very animated and funny at times. This tour is a good way to see downtown Asheville and provides fascinating history in places that will encourage you to revisit the landmarks during daylight hours. Thanks again to Tad for providing such a great tour!
Lauren Nash
Tad was such a wonderful story teller! He described the history of Asheville very well. The ghost stories were well researched and well told. I highly recommend this tour!
Chandler Blake
I am so glad we went on this tour! Brian was our tour guide, and while I cannot fairly compare him to the other guides, I would still venture to say he is the best! He is so passionate about Asheville, its history, and the paranormal. Whether you are a believer or a skeptic, you will be fascinated by his wealth of knowledge. Put on your walking shoes and learn about some ghosts!
LaurieBeth Shapiro
Tad was great and we really enjoyed the tour! Not only did we get some awesome ghost stories but learned some cool historical facts about Asheville.
Sandra Hemphill
We enjoyed the Supernatural tour with Tad tonight. This isn't your usual ghost tour. Tad shared history and local lore along with stories. He is very knowledgeable and a lot of fun.
Frank Slattery
Best ghost tour I have ever been on and I have been on a lot of tours all over the world. This one was better because they weren't dramatized stories that were just ones that have been told for the last 40 years some of them were new and fresh and some of them were from the personal experience of the person giving the tour or from the personal experience of other people within his organization. Including pictures that he was able to show us that he took or people from his company took. One of the places that we stopped at was an active paranormal investigation that was currently going on with his company involved.
Ashley Garrison
Had a great time on our Haunted Asheville tour! It was fun to see the city at night and get some cool history behind some of the spots. Our guide Christian was very knowledgeable and clearly loved telling us his and Asheville's stories! I thought it was very cool hearing that all the tour guides were paranormal investigators themselves. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because I would have liked a few more stops. It felt like we stood at the same places for a while. But all in all it was a great experience!
Robert Richter
I took the paranormal tour with Tad and had a great experience. Tad was knowledgeable and entertaining. This tour was a good way to have a first experience with Asheville and combined history with folklore and the paranormal.
Megan McCarren
Tad was our tour guide and he was so much fun! He was hilarious and engaging. The tour was honestly more funny than scary but still full of history and interesting tidbits. It really gets you acclimated to the city and shows you around the different areas of downtown
Cali Skye
The Supernatural Tour with Tad is well worth the money! He is a master-storyteller, well-versed in local lore & Appalachian history. An easy walk about downtown will delight, as he weaves tales of ghoul & grisly occult. Other non-spooky historic facts about Asheville, as well! I cannot sing enough praises. I will return for this one, & bring new friends! Thank you, Tad. A night to remember.
Benjamin Ross
Great evening walk around the city. Interesting, informative, and unique stories about the haunted history of Asheville. Tadd was a terrific guide. Highly recommend.
Gina DiCicco
Our ghost tour was super fun! Tad was an energetic and engaging tour guide, who had interesting stories to share and was very knowledgeable about the city. It was a great way to learn a bit about Asheville, with a slightly spooky angle.
Bonnie Easton
Great stories told by an engaging guide well versed in Asheville history. A paranormal investigator for decades, our guide left ample room for skepticism, while encouraging the imagination...maybe you did see a curtain shift in that dark old house...or maybe it was the light thrown off a passing car. The tour was a balanced mix of history and campfire story (depending on what you believe). However, whether you are a believer or skeptic, this tour is proof that some non-paranormal history is enough to leave goosebumps.
Max Vander Ploeg
It was okay. The tour leader seemed more concerned with being entertaining than informative. Over the course of 2 hours, we heard 3 in-depth stories and maybe 1 short story. We walked right past some legendary haunted spots (such as the ice house where bodies were stored during the 1918 Spanish flu) without a word.
My wife went on a different tour with this company & said it was much better, so the experience is pretty much dependent on the tour leader.
Patti Berry
Brian was very knowledge about the history of Asheville. He did a great tour especially with the fact that there were 2 drunk guys following us making a huge scene when he tried to talk yet he still did a great 👍 job. Learning about the suicide/murders of the area was interesting. Definitely check it out. …
Samantha Franks
This was our first ghost tour, and we had a blast! Brian was our guide, and he was extremely knowledgeable about Ashville and all the things that are said to haunt it. He was also very friendly and comical. The tour is a great way to learn some interesting history about Ashville that you otherwise may not get to hear. I highly, highly recommended it! Wear comfy shoes as you will be walking a good bit, and bring a jacket!
Sierra Werner
This tour was amazing, I highly recommend! Tad is a fantastic tour guide, what a cool human. Very friendly and tells the history and stories very clearly and keeps you intrigued, even in a down pour of rain the whole time. Tad knew the spots we could hide under to escape the rain and did a hell of a job speaking over the noise. The tour itself was really freaking awesome, lots of cool stories and spooky spots to explore. We will totally be brining people back to take this tour again with Tad!
Barbara Price
Great tour guide...very knowledgeable and animated. Tour lasted about 1 3/4 hours and consisted of moving as a group to different locations around downtown Asheville to hear stories of historic events that have lead to present day ghost sightings. This tour is not scarey but is very interesting. Be ready for tour groups of 70 people.
Shelby P
Have been on a few ghost tours in the past. Savannah and New Orleans and always thought the "orbs in the pictures thing" was cheesy. Was pleasantly surprised that this tour led by Tad was more focused on the history and background of the stories rather than the silly stuff. A solid 2 hour experience with some good info on the city of Asheville and some of the more gruesome stories surrounding it. Would have liked to have seen a few more places and heard a couple more stories would be only negative feedback. Other than that, definitely enjoyed it
Joe Pickett
Second time we went on this tour. Brian was a great guide and knows a lot about the history of Asheville. Tour is not that strenuous and can be walked easily.
Brittany King (Fire & Suds)
Christian was an excellent guide! The tour was informative and of course spooky! A fantastic way to see and learn about Asheville. I highly recommend!
Josh Sunderlin
Tad really did a great job and kept our very large group entertained. Really can't give him enough credit for talking loud enough for everyone to hear and keeping up the enthusiasm. There isn't a lot to do in Asheville after dark that doesn't involve drinking too much, so take a 2 hour break from drinking to learn about some spooky history in this fun little town - definitely won't regret it!
Cody Brazeel
Definitely worth the money. I was very happy with it and enjoyed it. It was cold and snowing a little but but that wasn't an issue cause it was really enjoyable. Brian had alot of information and was able to answer all of my questions and showed me some pictures and videos of what was talked about during the tour as well
Alex Tallman
The tour was full of eerie stories which was expected, but I also learned a lot about the history and background of how Asheville came to be. Our guide, Tad, was very knowledgeable and animated story teller.
Our tour was on a Sunday night, and there were about 50 people. Social distancing was a little challenging at times, but they strongly encouraged the use of masks and the vast majority of people complied. It was easy enough to avoid the small handful of people that did not wear a mask. The guide was wearing a mask between each stop and only removed it at each stop along the tour when he was a safe distance away.
Kellyn Green
Tadd was amazing. The tour was very interesting and fun. Tadd knew so much about Ashvilles history and was very funny! I personally enjoyed him taking the time to discuss several things with my family. We had several questions for him and he stayed to explain all of our curiosities. Highly recommended!
Katie Pollard
Brian is the best guide ever! He is so informative and knowledgeable about all the stops. You can tell he really loves what he does and also loves spreading the history of Asheville to others. The stops are really neat and the museum at the end was cool. Brian isn't afraid to answer any questions you may have. Our group had an absolute blast and I can't wait to go back and do the tour again!
Bronwyn Merritt
My husband and three kids ( aged 16-21) did the Supernatural tour with Tad and thought it was about the best thing ever. Walking around in the evening, the spring weather just coming on and the city looking great added to the substance of the tour, which is just a lot of really fun storytelling and history.
Lunden England
Fun tours with great guides! I have now gone on both the classic and the supernatural tours. From my experience, I would recommend the classic tour, but I enjoyed them both! Be prepared with good walking shoes.
Tj Jacobitz
Had a awesome night. Brian was our tour guide and would definitely recommend him. His knowledge of Asheville and the paranormal energy surrounding the area was top notch. Would definitely do it again.
Charmaine Chaffin
So much fun. Our guide Christian was extremely knowledgeable and nice. Hearing all of the ghost stories and seeing the sites of Asheville was really cool. Highly recommend checking out the tour when you visit.
Mark Zanowicz
Went tonight with my girlfriend. I’ve done many ghost tours all over the country and this was by far the best one I’ve ever been on. Lots of interesting history about the city infused with some of the most terrifying paranormal occurrences I’ve even heard. Our guide (Brian) was very enthusiastic, friendly, and knowledgeable. You could tell he knew what he was talking about and wasn’t simply reciting a script. The locations you go can feel pretty eerie and the museum at the very end has some very bizarre and fascinating items. I would go again on my next visit to the city. For anyone with the slightest interest in the paranormal, I couldn’t recommend this tour more highly.
Kim Lowry
It started a little late due to traffic and an accident on the interstate, the tour guide even split the group into two, to give us a more personal tour. Very informative. A lot of walking but we'll worth it.!! Excellent job!!
He did a great job, answered all our questions and the tour even lasted for 3 hours!! Go see them, learn the history that Asheville has to offer!!
Harmony Campbell
In 2016 My best friend and I try to find fun things to do when I visit her in Tennessee. We were spending a day in Asheville and impulsively decided to schedule the tour. We were a little hesitant at first when we met up and found out we were the only 2 doing the tour that night, that quickly changed! The tour guide was simply amazing! We had the best time, our tour guide was knowledgable, funny and went above and beyond!
Thaddaeus Edwards
The tour is fun, funny, thoughtful and packed with fascinating information about Asheville's history. As explained at the beginning of the tour, the lens through which the paranormal is viewed is a historical one. This not only adds context to the surroundings, but also makes the stories come alive (or at least resurrected). Great storytelling!
Daniel Morris
Loved this very nice tour didn't know all of this about Asheville definitely got a few chills recommended
John Jarrell
Tad was wonderful! He kept us moving in pouring rain to strategic locations where he was able to tell wonderful stories, point out authentic locations of where untimely deaths took place, and keep us on watch for ghosts. We did not see any, but that did not mean they were not there!
Chris Olson
This was a fantastic tour! We went with low expectations- just looking for something to do while the kids were home from college over Christmas Break and we were totally blown away. The tour guide was friendly and kept us all captivated as we learned so much about the town and some of the local lore. It was really well done and we had a blast. Thanks so much for a fantastic evening that we will be talking about for a long time!
Jennifer Bonnett
Amazing tour! Tad was super knowledgeable about the area and had the perfect personality for the job. Loved to hear the history of the town and the haunted story that go along with.
Daniel Bentley
A fun time with a lot of paranormal history. Brian was our guide and he presented the tour with a great mix of humor and seriousness. We have done ghost tours in several cities and it is always nice to have knowledgeable guide work personal experiences to share. Would recommend going with this company.
Will Bolick
This is a historical journey of epic proportion. Christian, our Virgil for this adventure, is very knowledgeable and provides a story telling experience that us unrivalled. This tour is a must for any trip to Asheville. The walk is pleasant with opportunity to sit and enjoy a verbal portrayal of historic events. And the museum is absolutely amazing. From the ever elusive big foot to chilling FACTUAL tales and artifacts.
Aradhana Dasi Ainsley Bresnahan
My friend and I were walking back to our car and we saw this huge group go by us. We kind of giggled for a second and jumped in the group. Tadd seemed warm and the group appeared entertained! We walked 2-3 blocks with them and now I hope to buy a tour in the future! Even though I have lived here for a bit, there is still much I would love to learn. Thanks for being cool, Tadd. :)
Linda Adams
We had the best time on our Ghost tour in Asheville, NC. Tad was a wonderful guide. He was full of information, great story teller, and absolutely hilarious.
Kerri Ellis
Tad the tour guide was amazing! Very knowledgeable and interesting. This tour is really fun and you get to see some really cool parts of downtown Asheville. Also, at the end you get to see the supernatural musuem which was really neat too.
Melissa Hicks
The classic walking tour is good. Not only will you hear ghost stories, but also, you will learn a lot of history of the city. Brian was a great tour guide. I would give it a 5 but meeting for the tour was a little aggravating. We walked to the tour, arriving 45 minutes early. We had walked a lot that day. We had been instructed to meet in the alley behind the masonic temple. Since the building appeared to be quiet and empty, I didn't see a "no loitering" sign, I decided to rest prior to the tour starting. I have been having therapy for my back and hip for a year. I am working hard to re-gain my strength. The other guide approached us asking if we would be doing the tour. He then told me not to sit on those steps and to go stand in the alley. I told him I didn't think it started for a while, so I would really like to rest first. He said he wasn't trying to be the police but when people are there, they would get mad over it. I sort of felt the way an employee would feel if their boss told them they couldn't be sitting, but their shift doesn't start for 30 more minutes. I just feel like what I was doing as a pedestrian before the group met shouldn't have been of their concern. Then when we got to the alley, we had to make sure not to stand anywhere except the alley because tenants in neighboring apartments would get mad. So, if you take this tour, don't show up too early unless you want to stand in one place the entire time you are waiting. Do not sit on those steps. Do not stand near the neighboring apartment building. Also, use the bathroom because there is nowhere to go before or during the tour. If there were a better starting place, I would have given it 5 stars. Brian was a good story teller.
Denise Sprague
The tour was good. I would have preferred more walking and more stops. The tour guide, while interesting, but spent too much time talking at each spot. I felt he could have walked at bit more/shown more sights while still imparting his stories.
Anna Meadows Helvie
I booked with some friends, and we all really enjoyed this tour. Tad was our guide, and he was very good. He is likeable and is a skillful storyteller about Asheville's history and paranormal doings. He explained what makes Asheville a unique town unlike any other in North Carolina or, indeed, the South, and relates that to the deaths that led to current hauntings. Tad has a diverse academic background and works professionally as a folklore and occult researcher, all of which certainly enhance the depth and quality of his tour.
I chose this original "Haunted Asheville" ghost tour because it was developed by Joshua P. Warren, who is an internationally known researcher in many aspects of the paranormal and the occult. If you have any deep interest or expertise in these subjects, this is definitely the tour you want to take, because all of the guides are engaged professionally with this subject.
If I re-visit Asheville, I'd take it again, and I recommend it to all visitors interested in historical hauntings.
Nancy Reid
Tad was an excellent guide, very animated and knowledgeable about the history of Asheville and ghostly occurrences. I definitely recommend the Haunted Asheville tour to anyone that might have the slightest interest and I’m looking into the paranormal tour they do.
Arianna Trout
It was amazing! Bought tickets last minute because I was looking for something to do. Well worth the price. Recommend to anyone who likes a good spook

We went. We had Chris. We didnt know what to think my wife and I were the only customers for the night. The entire tour was awesome. We got a personal seeming tour with chris. We went in learning a ton and ultimately came out as friends. Chris is awesome and taught us so much about Asheville during our trip. Be aware there is a decent amount of walking. We enjoyed it. The tour starts behind the temple and may seem sketchy at first but everyone is so nice and welcoming. Thanks again chris!
Laura Eavenson
I like that the guide specified that he only talks about currently active spots/spots that he believes are really haunted. There were some cool historical facts - since this company does their own investigating it would have been nice to include some of the evidence (footage, EVP, photos...) during the tour.

This tour was awesome... my boyfriend took me on this tour last night as one of my valentine's presents. I love all this paranormal and weird.....we have already decided to go back for the Friday tour. We will be enjoying another of Tad's wondeful tours in the near future... he was very knowledgeable and used history, intellect, and reason to discuss the happenings around Ashville...Thank you for the wonderful night.
Ashley Eson
Tad was a great tour guide. Enthusiast host that made walking the streets of Asheville fun and spooky. Good way to get to know the city and its history. Great way to spend an evening after dinner.
Cody Johnson
Thanks to Asheville Ghost Tours and "Tad" our tour guide for a GREAT time. 👍 History, folk lure, and a great guide. …
Katelyn Shattuck
Really neat way to explore Asheville. Christian was friendly and gave a great tour. Didn't see any ghost... 🤷♂️. Worth the time.
Only downfall was all the second hand smoke. Tour guide was smoking so it was kind of hard to avoid.

We went on the Asheville Haunted Tour for the Halloween season. It was incredible! Tadd was extremely knowledgable on Asheville, all of its history, and all of its gooey, gory mishaps. His knowledge on history and his extremely out going personality made for a wonderful and memorable tour! My boyfriend and I have lived here our entire lives and we still came out with so much insight on our city. Also, the mystery museum was incredible. I completely recommend every person, local or not, go to the Haunted AVL tour!
Glenn S
Our tour guide Tad was very entertaining and knowledgeable. This is a fun 2 hour tour with plenty of regular Asheville history mixed in with a good dose of the darker historical side as well.
Jake Ruddy

Sarah Murray
This tour was fun. Our guide was very informative and excited about sharing the ghost stories with us. He gave us not only the lore, but the history behind the stories as well. Not your typical ghost tour, but really cool if you like learning about the area as well as some spooky happenings. Get ready to walk a lot though!

Me and my wife are in town for a conference and thought we would do this for fun. We have been to Asheville many times but never thought to take a ghost tour. We had a great time. It was great to get the history of the town to go with the ghost stories.I highly recommend doing this tour!
James Stephens
Our tour guide,BRIAN, made Asheville come alive. Learned a LOT of Asheville history. Which tied in the ghost stories and experiences better. The ghosts mean a little more when you know where they come from. Ghosts aren't relegated to spooky houses and creepy graveyards. Sometimes they are right out in the open
Mary Beth Sallaz
At first I missed the beginning bc the mmeting map given and the original map were completely different. I chose this tour bc the location correlated with the other events my boyfriend and I were doing earlier that day. HOWEVER, we stumbled upon a tour that just started and we were allowed to join in. McLeod was his name..he was very kind, knowledgeable and witty. I had a great time and definitely recommend it...just keep in mind that they send a map in your conformation email and it might be different from the one on the website.
Valerie Johnson
Brian was our host. He loves Asheville. He is a history buff. He is a paranormal expert. AND it shows in his storytelling!! Enjoyable experience. Wear good walking shoes!!

It was OK. Many of the stories were definitely a stretch and I wasn't able to verify much compared to tours that I have taken in other cities. I did enjoy the walk and hearing what different buildings were.

Our guide Tadd was amazing. Fun guy, and makes sure everyone could hear him well. Was not expecting that big of a group(common to see 80 people in one group) but he made it work very well! Answers questions as they come up. You can see that he truly cares about what he does. You can sense the passion he has for these tours. He truly enjoys what he does. Learned alot about the city with him, and he is always checking to ensure that the group doesn't get split up.
