Reviews of Atwood Concert Hall
Atwood concert hall is a gorgeous venue. I wasn’t able to see a production, but I did see the showing of Aurora, Alaska’s Great Northern Lights, movie playing and that was a wonderful experience. I hope to be back and experience a show.
Saw blue man group here! Awesome. Beautiful theater as well.
I've loved attending shows at Atwood since I was a child, and now I get to enjoy shows with my daughter! I never tire of this place, and they are great at keeping a variety of popular shows mixed in with the classics.
Beautiful architecture. Very well designed for performances. Acoustics were incredible. Enjoyed the entire event. Seats were comfortable but just a few inches too close from row to row for my long legs. Mind you I'm only 6 feet. Very old but well kept. Enjoyed the catering as well.
I saw the Nutcracker and the Blue Man Group and they were both fantastic! I will definitely be returning for another show in the future.
Pretty impressive theater design and the acoustics were great. The sound quality was really good, I know that because I never had to think about it.
had a lovely time at the show, sound quality was good. not too loud, and soft when it was supposed to be. i sat In the balcony or mezzanine. Perfect seats to be able to enjoy the stage performance and see the full set. however, the seats are slightly on the skinny side and for a full figured man it was a bit of a squeeze. but not enough to deter going again
Went to see Tom Segura on his I'm Coming Everywhere World Tour. Excellent direction from the ushers. Not that they could help it, but a Chad/Karen couple on the upper balcony of course had to be caught with a phone. In spite of that, the staff handled the situation very well with minimal disruption to the show. Will keep my eyes out for another performance at this venue!
Terrific venue. Sort of the perfect size for a concert hall. I doubt there's a bad seat in the house. Good acoustics. Friendly/ helpful staff & ushers. My wife and I enjoy traveling up from Juneau to catch an occasional show and spend a night or 2 in the "big city."
A few minutes before Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone was screened live in concert! Another great experience at Atwood. Only suggestion would be to possibly give the seats a bit more padding. Normally, its fine, but after 3 hours it does start to feel like you are sitting on a board. Other than that, an amazing performance center that deserves more recognition!
I thought our seats were a lot farther back. We ended up being on the floor extremely close to stage . We saw Aaron Lewis which was an amazing show. We were off to the right of stage only like 5 rows back. Woooo
The show, Chicago the Musical, was outstanding! The Atwood Concert Hall provided a quality venue for a highly successfu well presented touring event.
Sadly not enough staffing for a comedy show. Two individuals serving beverages for a sold out show makes for most of the crowd not able to get a drink.
As we were being directed to the door for our seats we were sent about 3 doors the wrong way. Other than that it is clean and a good venue. No photos were allowed so none to post.
Took 3 youngins and they loved King and I. Very nice venue. Seats were great. All ushers were friendly and helpful.
The symphony performane of Dvorak's New World Symphony was spectacular.
Saw Stomp last night and really enjoyed ourselves. Check in was OK and the line went quickly. Seat was a bit uncomfortable but we had a great time
Gorgeous venue, great acoustics, and the shows are wonderful. Went to see Book of Mormon and the theatre was beautiful. Just to make people aware the seats aren't wide so if you're large you'll be uncomfortable, if not it is easy to sit through the performance in comfort. It's also walking distance to all the fun spots down town, so that just adds to the appeal. Worth checking out.
The PAC is the place to be for the best performances in Anchorage.
Enjoyed Little Shop of Horrors here last week. Awesome show!!
Great space with an amazing crew. Thanks for everything.
A really pleasant atmosphere to take in a show, with friendly and appropriately attentive staff and amazing architecture.
It is a good theater. Staff is always helpful and friendly. Seats are reasonably comfortable. Sound system is generally fine. Of course, your experience may vary depending on the production you are there to see.
It would be nice if you didn't have to park down the street, but it's Anchorage, not much choice.
Watched the Blueman concert, and it was very enjoyable.
Top notch place to catch a show. Not a bad seat in the house and the acoustics are amazing.
Great Cinderella performance, had a great view good crowd interaction and wasn't too cold in the theater
Blue Man Group all seats are great
Clean, well staffed, classy and elegant. Has great views of the town square. Sound is amazing inside and I have loved every show I've been to. The experience is a high quality theatre here in Alaska. 💗 …
Love it love it
Always ready for the next show!
Beautiful building and comfortable seating.
Absolutely beautiful concert hall with great performances! So why two stars? They really missed the ball when installing their sound system. For reference, I was sitting slightly right of center on the main floor (not a balcony). Not to get technical, but everything above 1k sounded muffled. In lamens terms, vocal clarity was lacking, music was missing depth, and while the acoustics in the room are great, it doesn't matter since the sound was lacking in the first place. To compensate for the muffled sound, it sounds like they are boosting the 1k and up frequencies, causing the speakers to distort and becoming piercing.
With that being said, I have thoroughly enjoyed the performance here. Perhaps a live orchestra without amplified sound would be much better. The performances I saw all used recorded music.
Only real downside is the don't open the seating u till 10-+5 minutes before the performance to create excitement. But it gets hot fast with everyone standing and waiting. Very friendly ushers and great seats.word of. Caution not aisle seats are actual aisles. Some are on the floor aisle next to a half room wall with seats above.. so not easy e biting if you have kids or weak bladders.
Saw Harry Potter w/Anchorage Symphony and it was fantastic. Wish there were more movies they would do like this one. Packed performance too..don't miss out on the next one. Also makes me think about going to other Symphony events.
We have seen some wonderful shows here! Amazing place!
Great venue. Excellent customer service.
The shows are amazing from any part of the theater but the seats could use an upgrade, the orchestra level seating is a bit worn out and low to the ground, the balcony not so much but still a little worn out.. with pick click give they can probably upgrade some of the seating.
Very nice venue. Great lineup this season.
Amazing Theatre! The building itself is huge and conveniently located downtown adjacent to a large park and pay lot which makes for an easy and stress free parking plan. Everything is well organized with huge wide hallways and large double doors making the flow of traffic getting in and out od the actual theater rooms way easier than others I've seen. We went to see the 2018 Nutcracker performance by the Eugene Ballet and it was fantastic! They brought in the Anchorage Symphany who were below the performance floor playing live. Great experience and they staff was also very helpful in guiding everyone to their exact seat locations.
The facility is prestigious, offering great acoustics and performance options throughout the year.
I love Atwood Concert Hall. Its carpet is a little dated but the acoustics are nice, and the general experience is probably the best in Alaska. Drinks are sold outside during intermission, but they're in the pricey side at $6 for a beer and $8 for wine. The only beverage allowed inside the hall is bottled water. No snacks so keep that in mind. Generally the shows are priced pretty well and even balcony seats offer a good view.
Biggest theater in Anchorage. Built identical to a Eugene, OR theater. Seats 2100 folks & hosts quality live entertainment.
The Anchorage Symphony Orchestra puts on a wonderful show and the Atwood Concert Hall is a great place to see it. We sat in the highest tier of seats, affectionately known as the nose bleed section. The acoustics were perfect, with every note filling the hall, and we were able to see the whole orchestra with a completely unobstructed view.
Was a small bit cozy venue. We're able to see the stage fairly well even from the moderately priced seats. Sound quality was fine too. Wouldn't hesitate to see another show here.
Nice venue. Friendly staff and a great show!
Always a great show here. No opera glasses required.
Program was great. Seats were not overly comfortable. It was a bit warm, so you need to dress in layers. Then you can remove items if needed. Needs some up dating.
Gorgeous interior and very well kept. It's in a great location, lots of garage parking nearby and always hosting great talent. I've been quite a few times since moving here and I'll continue to go as long as I'm in Anchorage.
Saw The Nutcracker. Performances were excellent and the Symphony Orchestra was superb!! We were in the balcony, but could see and hear very well. Lovely night in Anchorage, Alaska.
Great seating. Sound is great. Parking garages nearby.
Saw the nutcracker tonight, it was visually stunning. I love that you can enjoy a glass of wine during the show and they sell the most amazing ornaments.
Paying to visit Mormon missionaries seemed a bit much, but sure was worth it!
Saw The Little Mermaid. Went with my cousin and my 7 year old daughter (her and my first time going together). Excellent performance, very talented group of people.
The Arlo Guthrie concert was wonderful! Daughter Sarah sang the lead in a number of the songs and was very good. A son and Sarah's husband were the rest of the band, giving a different feel than Arlo's solo performances.
Nice facility..great concert and live play venue...
Compared to many many other venues that I have seen concerts across the country this is a nice Mall theater compared to some of the bigger venues the Acoustics are awesome I do wish more people would come up here to perform however but obviously that's due to demographics but it's worth checking out support your community and go out on the town for the night
A surprisingly positive atmosphere for a relatively small market in Alaska. Always have had great expierance with staff, also I haven't found a bad seat yet. Bravo!
They always bring up awesome shows!
I always enjoy going to the Atwood! The people who work/volunteer there are kind and helpful, however the seating is uncomfortable and the "nose bleed" seats can require a painful twist of your neck to watch the stage.
Attended the Texas Tenors show, in a word "fantastic". Great show this evening, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this performance. Keep em coming. 👍👍 …
Had and wonderful time at an amazing show. My girlfriend and I loved watching Celtic Woman. They were spectacular.
Went to the Melissa Etheridge concert on Thursday evening. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen and the Atwood has wonderful acoustics!
The entire PAC is wonderful with an eclectic set of shows throughout the year. (And good wine selection too... the malbec is pretty great.)
We had a great time watching opening night of Spamalot
Beautiful huge modern theater complex. Lots of helpful ushers and great staff, front & back.
Cabaret, an excellent production. I am so glad the Anchorage Concert Association brought such a good production to Anchorage. Also a good history lesson of how things can go so wrong so quickly.
The seats I were in were up high but I could still see the show clearly and hear it clearly. The place is stunning.
Great shows at times. Seats could be more comfortable, but certainly not bad for a few shows a year.
Enjoyed "The Book of Morman". Not what I thought but laughed a lot! Great music, singing and dancing too! (Definitely for adult audience)
The Anchorage Symphony Orchestra knocked it out of the park with their rendition of John Williams Music. Not to mention the beautiful concert hall with excellent acoustics.
Beautiful venue, acoustics are excellent! ' Chicago' was flawless and service very good. Go!♥️
The ballet was terrific. Difficult to get served during intermission; the theater was too warm.
Lacking enough stalls in the bathroom, not wheelchair or mobility-issue friendly. Also, if you want a show interpreted, they only give you one option, and usually it's the crappy timing.
Great shows, Pleasant comfortable than you, good acoustics , afult refreshments at half-time.
Saw The Book of Mormon here. So fun! Every seat feels like a great seat!
Nice theater and building. Could not see stage clearly from my seat. Don't sit in the back if you want to see.
Where else are you going to go in Anchorage? It's convenient to get to, and while up on the 4th level your nose might start bleeding it's still a good venue.
Beautiful architecture. Many community events are held here. I was at the orchestra and really enjoyed the experience.
Fun experience seeing MJ
Saw the Celtic Woman Christmas concert. Loved the venue and ease of preordering drinks for the intermission.
Always a Great show. Always great people trying to help. Its a beautiful venue.
Amazing area to be in. The seating is a tad bit cramped, but thats what intermission are for. Staff was professional and went above and beyond with patrons with extra needs.
The show was excellent but the cold air blowing on us for the entire show....was definitely REFRESHING!
Very helpful and friendly staff, helped us find our seats, sound was amazing, anchorage orchestra was top notch.
A great place to go and see performances and concerts. The first floor is obviously preferable and for the time being is generally not too expensive
Beautiful performance of Shen Yun! Music, costumes, choreography and sets were all superb!
The volunteers that staff the events are always cheerful and happy to assist in locating seats or anything else that is needed. Hooray for the Boomers!!
Really love the musical we went to see. I just really didn't like the story of it
Was wonderful went there to see Celtic Woman Christmas concert the wife and eye loved it a lot!
Love this place. Been seeing shows here since I was a we lil lad
My son and I are going to our 2nd concert tonight it's a great place to go. I recommend it.
Chaperoned my 9 year olds class amd a few other classes from her school and it was fun. Will likely do more chaperoning in the future.
Saw blue man group
Great performance. However, they need benches for handicap to use for walks to and from their cars.
Enjoyed the show - quick customer service and ease in finding our seats.
Great place! Attractive, easy to use, nice area, very good sound and visual experience.
Excellent venue for the performing arts. My wife and I always do the season pass to save money.
The hall needs a major update in their sound system.
Beautiful stage with great shows
I am here for one day and was recommended to see a show. So glad I did.
Beautiful concert hall. Very good visibility in nearly every seat.
Saw a great show, no problems getting in and finding a seat.
Beautiful building, nice concert hall.
Great sound
Good place...great seating. You'll have a great time.
The seats are old and cramped, but the hall suits it's purpose. It's all about the talent that makes the evening here.
Always offered wonderful entertainment just at a price that's beyond the reach of some.
Went to see Little Shop of Horrors, it was great. Definitely would recommend.
Great concert hall. We just saw Arlo Guthrie there.
Welcome to my concert hall! I hope you love it as much as I do.
Best theatre for touring Broadway shows, headlining acts and more!!!

Excellent Venue
Fantastic!!
The Performing Arts Center (PAC) is a wonderful place. Atwood is one of the concert halls. The experience from beginning to end is simple, friendly , and entertaining - from getting tickets at centertix to seeing the performance to leaving the hall. The place is clean and well kept, the shows are excellent (and such a blessing all the way up here in the far north!), and the employees and volunteers are tremendous! Did I mention the amazing volunteers? Wow. They fulfill your needs before you even realize you have a need!
We always enjoy performances here.
