Reviews of Alaska Botanical Garden
We enjoyed the gardens more than expected. They have flowers that we had never seen before. Everything is very well manicured, and there are multiple themed gardens to view. For a smaller botanical garden, and a very short season, the flowers were quite impressive. My favorites were the blue poppies and forget-me-nots!!
A smaller botanical garden but still very pretty. There is a paved trail and some backwoods trails. There is a very convenient complimentary shuttle that will take you from the visitor center to the gardens. I would suggest only keeping about 1.5 hours to tour the whole park.
Beautiful! Pleasant walk, clean trails, easy terrain, and a beautiful set up. Wide variety of plants and a clean campus. A lot of trails are paved and can be wheelchair/stroller friendly. Parking was unclear, but a school parking lot was nearby (we took a Lyft and had no need for parking).
A nice Botanical Garden in Eastern Anchorage. They have paved and non-paves trails. There are a lot of plaques telling you the type of plant and flower. The paved part with specific gardens took us about an hour to walk through. It costs $14 for adults to enter. We got there by taking the free shuttle from the Visit Center in Downtown on 4th Street.
Nestled in a luhs forest, the Alaska Botanical Garden's is an amazing collection of themed gardens. Truly a delight for all the senses, the sights are obviously wonderful, but we were astounded by the smells and the sizes of some of the plants. Each garden is themed so the experience is varied and there's something to enjoy for all.
This place is beautiful. They had such a wide variety of plants and flowers. It's a nice walk and would be great with kids as well. I will definitely go back if I'm in Alaska again.
Love the walk with lights, was very relaxing and beautiful. Very creative and something new and different to go to. A nice outdoor event, was worth the $.
I can't wait to go in the summer time.
Great for kids also.
Simply a wonderfully beautiful place to escape from the world. The staff was friendly and helpful. The flowers were varied, well taken care of and supremely stunning. The paths are well maintained and bathrooms cared for as well. A great attraction to go check out!
Absolutely stunning foliage and flowers to look at here. They have some garden areas that are just set up so beautifully. If you are a plant person, you need to go!
Fragrance greeted us!! Beautiful grounds and displays. Easy to navigate and handicap accessible.
Enjoy the beauty of the gardens and sculptural art pieces.
The Blue poppies were in bloom and a local artist had her fused glassworks on display featuring the lovely northern poppy and other Alaskan blooms. The herb garden smelled amazing and featured lots of different mint types. The VW bug turned topiary was a favorite for me and the woven bird sculptures were massive! Highly recommend the Alaska Botanical Garden in Anchorage Alaska. If you are in need of a walk in a beautiful space, want to sign your kids up for a kids gardening camp or need a place for a private event, you can find what you are looking for! Happy gardening.
A very pleasant way to kill time before my flight. There was much more growing outdoors than I though there would be and the whole feel of the place is very quaint and peaceful as well as informative.
My mother came to visit during the fall from MN. She has a bad knee and hard to get around. I was so happy when we arrived to see they had a few scooters to get around on. It made the walk around a lot more enjoyable! She did get it stuck at one point but it gave us all a bit of a laugh😆. …
You follow a flat groomed path through the woods that offers paths into various exhibits. Along the path were metal and reed sculptures, as well as botanical fused glass plates.
Relatively small place but very dense! We spent a couple hours here, including our time doing the 1.25 mile nature walk. Bring bug spray if you plan on doing the nature walk! Otherwise not too buggy in the gardens. Loved some of the art pieces throughout and signage for identifying flowers. Lots of beautiful peonies. Staff extremely friendly!
Beautiful and peaceful.
This is a calm and quiet respite from the city. Beautiful spaces, plants, and flowers. The displays and immersion into the environment is wonderful.
I highly recommend visiting.
We took an afternoon in the middle of our week long visit to Alaska to visit the botanical garden. It was a very nice way to unwind and take in some nature while we were in the city transitioning from one nature area (Denali) to another (Seward/Chugach).
Definitely worth the small admission fee. Take time to walk around all the areas, but also find a bench and just relax with a loved one and take in the flowers. Loved it!
Just love this place. We have a membership here and enjoy the garden year round. The fundraising events were fun this summer. The staff here is absolutely lovely and extremely helpful with gardening tips. I love that they try really hard to be creative with such a small space. My daughter loves looking at the new googly eye garden characters. It’s something to do when you need a bit of change from your regular schedule.
Always love visiting botanical gardens. The bear made this an exciting visit! Enjoyed the peonies and this unique, wispy flower called prairie smoke. Nice little area to sit which is where the bear walked up.
Beautiful, lots of flowers. Expect to spend a good amount of time there. Interesting art.
When traveling in Alaska we saw many interesting flowers we had never seen before which spurred our interest in going to the Alaska Botanical Garden. You should bring your bug and bear sprays. It is a small garden but very interesting and inexpensive. We had a nice walk through the gardens but stayed off the wooded trails because it was our last day in Alaska and we had already given up our bear spray!
Cute garden(s) with a nice short hike to the creek. Nice to know the names of the plants.
I've spent 2 hrs here, didn't see bears or other large animals.
Very impressive stop in Anchorage. All outdoor exhibit, easy paved walk unless you want to take the "bonus trail." Unlike any other Botanical gardens... and by the way there's a chance to see a moose or bears! I would return for sure!
Great garden with lots to learn about Alaska's foliage. Tours are wonderful.
Great place to take a stroll and appreciate some well manicured flora. There is a trail that takes you behind the gardens and runs down to a stream. While the path in the garden is largely paved and it's accessible on stroller or wheelchair, the trail is not as forgiving. Overall loved it and loved the moment to slow down and appreciate everything
My husband and I very much enjoyed this botanical garden. We were absolutely amazed at the individual artwork throughout the gardens and some of the installations must have taken weeks to make. They also had Halloween decorations well placed in a variety of areas of the garden as anchorage Has to have Halloween early because otherwise it will be covered with snow by 31 October!
Very interesting gardens with unique sculptures and beds.
Fairly small but well kept garden. A good place to spend 90 minutes if it's not raining.
It was so beautiful and so magical with all the beautiful Christmas lighting. It was very cold, but they offered large warming firepits and hot chocolate. My first time enjoying such a beautiful place. Thank you for such a wonderful time.
Beautiful place! We didn't get to walk the 1.2 mile nature trail because of a bear but it was still amazing
Love! Such a great local place to escape from all of the busy city life. Great wheelchair accessibility and never super busy during the Summer months. Awesome little adventure to bring guests or family visiting from out of town
Beautiful lights! Firepits along the trail were perfect to keep you warm, as well as the hot chocolate (bring your own mug and be eco-friendly).
Very nice area to check I would say at least 2 times a month. Flowers and plants keep changing the scenery and surprising with different colors. You can learn a lot and check different herbs and veggies too. There is a very cute section with mini plants/succulents arranged on square concrete. You can also find nice plants for purchase. Check on their website for what is blooming at the moment and pay them a visit. It is well worth it.
Beautiful displays. Was definitely a great experience
If you want a walk in the garden here is one for long or short trails. Be careful for bears and make sure you wear long sleeves and color clothing to avoid mosquitos and a bunch of bugs. You cannot enjoy the walk or taking pictures with them flying or sucking your blood.
Other than that nice. There are benches for picnicking again make sure you bring something that does not attract bears.
Over all a good place to visit during the spring and summer.
The instructor was freaking awesome!! My son loved it and asked questions.
We came here for a winter evening event and this botanical garden is beautiful. The Christmas lights danced in the evening snow and the hot cocoa they sell is nothing to scoff at.
Very pretty. Open year round. Couple long trails with a couple gardens that are themed like herbs and rock. The nature walks are unpaved mostly packed with wood chips so wear good shoes. Bug spray is good to have for spring and summer unless you like bug bites.
The night lights were beautiful throughout the garden, I had never in the 21yrs of living here in Anchorage been there. This summer I do plan on seeing the beautiful flowers 💐 they display. Thanks you Naomi …
It was quite a nice walk in the woods. It's pretty small though, compared to other botanical gardens I've been to, and most of the property is undeveloped woods. I liked the gardens I saw, but additionally I'd like to see a water garden with maybe a koi pond, and maybe a water fountain. An orchid pavilion would be nice. There's lots of room for development and improvement.
Beautiful during the summer and the winter lights display is an experience you don’t want to miss!
It was an amazing experience. So many Christmas lights were set up on sculptures and trees.
Also good to visit with kids.
Well worth it whether you stay an hour or half a day. Kind people, beautiful grounds. Highly recommend
Very nice, peaceful, gardens. I was with a group and we had a guide who really loves his job and besides pointing out all the different plants, yes, and flowers, gave a lot of good information on certain ones as well as the layout and artwork throughout.
A very nice walk in the garden. Peaceful, nice trails throughout and around the perimeter. Beautiful flowers, berries, mushrooms. A great place to visit, and great parking in the school lot on weekends and when school is out.
Lovely, good signage, pretty small. Cool sculptures around the path, and a nice gift shop. They also have holiday lights up in the winter which are nice, and a summer picnic dinner event that I'd like to try.
I had so much fun with my friends! Loved the lighted trails 😃 It was so pretty! …
Beautifully kept grounds, labeling was good, while not obnoxious. Very nice place to walk and experience the outdoors.
Such a pleasant sunny day, punctuated by the numerous humorous "scary" & entertaining emplacements throughout the grounds. Screeching cats somewhere out there, too -- tho we never did find out where.
Very clean and so many beautiful colors of flowers. Great place to bring out of town guests!
Great place to spend a morning. Lots of plants and flowers. Great folks. No food so bring your own snacks
Lovely place to wander
The garden is beautiful! Year round there are things to enjoy as your walk around the garden. It also hosts fun summer camps, neat events, and an epic plant sale. A "must visit" stop in Anchorage!
Different types of flowers and plants glow in Alaska. Beautifully designed and clean.
Even if it was not any flowers due to the winter. It was still beautiful to walk thru the garden. Also they had sleds and scooters you could ride. The bathrooms were clean and very warm.
I went to the “Boo-tanical” garden. It was late season so nothing was in bloom but everything was nicely decorated and I enjoy walking around during the visit.
One for sorrow, two for mirth…. Regardless of which version of this childhood rhyme you prefer, the two magpies are an impressive sight, brightening the long Alaskan solstice night.
The garden was so beautiful and made for a great day trip with my friends.
The flowers this time of year are gorgeous, and its warm enough the only reason you'd wear a coat is to keep the bugs off. Great for a romantic or peace finding stroll!
Peaceful walking paths thru the woods to different areas. Beautiful flowers. $14 entry fee. Be sure to wear mosquitos spray.
A great, relaxing journey through the garden. Plants are well marked, but with subdued labeling so it's not distracting. Easy walking along the pathways.
Visit San antonio botanical gardens or san Diego for a wow factor garden, this was quaint. I did enjoy the art structure of night and day birds. Worth it for the discounted fair, skip it ar full price.
Winter light shows are fun. Check it out.
Beautiful, serene, worth a visit
A perfect place to un-wind and very wheelchair friendly. The trail is paved, getting to some of the flower arrangements was harder, for wheelchairs, I do recommend an attendant. Well worth a visit!!!
Lots of mosquitoes as expected. But beautiful place to explore 😍 …
Easy walk. Lots of beautiful flowers
Awesome advice on local area from the lady at ticket booth. Very helpful. The trail was pretty and many plants were marked for identification.
Even though it's late in the season, there were many beautiful plants, herbs and flowers were still out.
It was an extremely cold night for a walk, but we braved the holiday lights at the garden. They were beautiful, and the people working there were very informative and friendly. Can't wait to go back this summer when everything is green and in bloom.
These gardens are really beautiful. The staff members are great. I strongly recommend!
I chose the wrong time of year to visit. Majority of the plants were not uncovered nor growing yet. I am sure the displays will be amazing once Mother Nature warms up the grounds!
This place is really great. New flowers and plants to see each time you go. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. There are a lots of variety to enjoy.
This is a very special and beautiful place. Well worth a visit! They also have plant sales, so one may purchase some of the lovely plants on display. Anchorage is blessed to have this gem.
Love this place. Love how it's pretty much out in the woods, without being far out. Right off muldoon, and we loved the family friendly hike that was part of the garden
Such beautiful flowers! A very relaxing garden.
Beautiful gardens, but sadly smaller than I expected. Took my time, but was done in 1 1/2 hr. And I'm a HUGE plant person.
For $12 it was pretty cool. There were a few flowers I'd never seen. And the size of the leaves on the Shieldleaf Rodgersia were enormous.
Great place to walk around. Bring bug spray.
Small but beautiful garden. Lovingly maintained. A gem!
Great place to visit during summer month!
Mixture of mild wilderness and horticulture. Outside fenceline is dog walk. Good to see at least once after June.
It was a very nice walk thru nature. But coming thru the gate there is a strong, definite smell of sewage and the porta potties look like they haven't been serviced in a long time....there was a service date calendar on the door and it showed last year dates not to mention the amount of cobwebs inside the hcp toilet
Beautifully maintained and curated. Easy paved path. Gorgeous peonies (in July at least).
Was a fun visit when we couldn't hike cause the weather
Very nice gardens. We had good weather, but be prepared for the mosquitoes.
We visited the Christmas light display here. It was a lovely experience with a walking trail, kick sleds, and even a few fire pits along the way to warm up. Walking through a Christmas light display is a whole different experience from a drive through light show.
Dinner was very good, drinks not so good. The Ambiance is out of this world. Staff was phenomenal.
Amazing place for a date with my wife. We love it.
Love this place, every time we go there is something small that is new. Very well manicured and clean area, still with a wild vibe. Can't say enough good things about this place.
Phenomenal gardens with tons to look at. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I went in mid September, the colors were beautiful and the Halloween stuff was very cute. Absolutely would love to come here again
We love coming here for the Christmas lights every year!
The Alaska Botanical Garden was well maintained and cared for. Lots of varieties of flowers, shrubs and art work scattered throughout the garden. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. It was a little short of a visit for the cost, but it was a very pleasant experience that I didn't mind it. I would recommend it.
Small, but pleasant botanical garden.
Interesting seasonal theme decor makes this a good place to share with visitors, kids, friends.
Was really interesting with all the diverse plantings, wish it wasn't raining, but without the rain it wouldn't be so lush.
This place is beautiful and educational in the summer. It has great displays in the winter as well! Kids love checking out everything there and seeing how it all grows. It has beautiful gardens, easy hiking and open spaces. I saw that they have catered picnics on Thursdays. We might have to check that out.
Amazing and cute place. Very fun tours. :)
It was a lovely exhibit. You pay less than $10 for the fall exhibits and they have such cute spooky decorations.
Perfect little walk to enjoy nature.
Great place if you want to walk/hike a more leisurely, accessible trail. The herb garden is my favorite & the kids all loved discovering the plants in there (pineapple mint was a favorite). Worth the fee.
A quiet and peaceful place with beautifully laid out themed gardens.
Nice place to walk with nice people to welcome you. The lights are such a great winter treat and we enjoyed the ice sculptures while they were there
The Gardens are very well kept and maintained. Perfect for a quick little quiet outing within the city limits. The half mile paved trail takes you next to every sculpted they have for your viewing pleasure. The two mile nature trail is nice for a scenic walk through the woods. Port a' potties are on site next to the herb garden and actual bathrooms are right past the front entrance on the side of the glass walled building. Overall not bad for a small fee.
Beautiful but icy with warmer temps
This is a wonderful place to visit in Anchorage, especially if you enjoy trails and you're interested in learning more about the local plants of Alaska. There are specialized gardens, such as an herb & spice garden, and a trail with many nooks where local plants like spruce trees, devil's club, fiddleheads, berries and more can be seen during the summer and early fall. If you like gardening, there's an annual plant sale in late spring (May) where you can buy starter plants. And even though there is less to see in winter, this botanical garden is open year round so you can visit anytime. If you love the natural environment of Alaska and love botany, then this is the place for you!
This place was absolutely beautiful. It was a great way to spend an afternoon and enjoy walking around. There were many beautiful plants to look at as well as flowers to photograph. The long sleeve shirt I bought there almost 10 years ago still fits great. I'd still one of my favorite shirts.
Wondrous walks through a forest garden. Many wildflowers but some exotics as well. Gift shop. Some trail markers warn that bears might be encountered.
Gorgeous gardens on a half mile paved walkway. There are some unpaved paths as well as a trail that runs along side a creek. Bring your bug spray!
Have been to the holiday lights the past 2 years. Great time, good to take a toddler for a walk.
They had a live ukele bad and hot drinks the night I went in 2019.
Believe it was under $10 per person. It took about 20 minutes to make one loop with a toddler.
Their greenhouse is heated if you need to warm up on a cold day.
My daughter and I had a lovely stroll through their garden; it was fun to view their plantings during this transitional time and see them prepare for winter. I spoke with a gentleman prior to my walk and told him I was fascinated with poppies, and when I returned, he had gather some seeds for me - so sweet. I also loved their herb section, their white borage was fantastic as all their herbs. I recommend taking some time to enjoy this garden, I hope to someday return in spring or summer :)
Wonderful beautiful garden 😍 …
Really great! My trip was super educational.
If you visit Alaska you need to visit the botanical garden very beautiful place.
Small facility packed with many varieties of plants. Our visit is towards the end of the summer, so the various gardens were not in peak bloom, but still a nice sanctuary for a quiet walk.
Great to see many young people strolling and identifying flowers by name! Good family place.
Gift shop disappointingly small and the potted plants available were quite leggy. Virtually no stock of seed packets.
The garden seems to rely heavily on volunteers for operations.
The Gardens are on the left after the turn from Tudor. The sign for the adjacent secondary school is more prominent than the sign for the Garden.
Only two minutes from the urban feel of Tudor Rd and the U Med district, catch a breath of fresh air at the AK Botanical Garden. Especially handy if you want to feel a connection to nature without going for an hour long drive out of town.
Excellent experience
Went in the winter, lol but still was fun, we made it fun
Beautiful gardens with great energy.
It is the nicest it has been for a long time
It was cool. It could use a few more exhibits but still fun. You will get bit by mosquitoes, bring spray theirs is a bit over priced. The girl at the admissions desk was nice and genuine.
Lovely!!!
Don’t miss it.
Unfortunately I came before the season and gave a $5 recommended donation. Though most of the flowers had yet to be planted (many growing in a greenhouse), the rock garden had come back and was well organized and labeled. Overall cute, and spread out enough for events, activities, bonfires and lots of great viewing. I picked up stickers and jam at the store. If I lived in Anchorage, I would become a member.
I've come here for the Beer in the Garden event and for the Valentine's Evening event and both have been great. The Valentine's day event (most recent) is what I'll talk about. I found the event to be very romantic with a walk through the garden all lit up with hearts and lights. There's even an area for food and wine. It was a blast and my wife loved it. We went for a little over an hour and even had an area for s'mores. The great thing about this is that it's not just for couples, but for families. Children loved to see the lights and can partake in the s'mores. Would definitely come back again.
Excellent community resource. Come see what the plants you own can do. A natural setting interspersed with stylized gardens, formal and semi-formal.
They also have a shuttle that takes you from the log cabin visitors center directly to ABG. Runs on the hour starting at 9AM till 11AM breaks at Noon , then starts again at 1PM.
Children's Gardens and programs, plus a garden center with excellent plants for sale.
Big property with a wide variety of plants. Their trails need a little work because they are not the most clear. We got a bit lost. Beautiful place to spend a morning. Wear insect repellent.
This botanical garden finds itself surrounded by a natural forest, which was a delightful departure from other gardens I've visited. There are hiking trails accessible from inside but we chose not to follow them because a bear had just been spotted and we didn't want to encounter it or its family.
The gardens here are beautiful, thoughtfully planned, and lovingly maintained. Signeage and plant choices inform the visitor about native vegetation and ecosystems, while demonstrating the variety of non-native plants that can grow and thrive in a sub-Arctic climate. Several garden designs have been chosen to illustrate aspects of local history and culture.
In addition, the botanical garden is an active part of the community, offering classes, day camps for kids in the summer, and social events. The botanical garden is ever-changing and growing, in terms of both the vegetation and the infrastructure. It is well worth a visit.
So pretty!!! The flowers are beautiful and the staff is so nice! I love walking around and enjoying the scenery. You can also buy plants here if you'd like which I think really cool!
Very pretty place. Clearly marked & easy walking.
Dec not botanical garden. Can't grow a lot because it's Alaska.
I have been coming here since the start and been a member many of those years, it is amazing how far the garden has come. If you are from outside Alaska with a different climate, or from a large city with a very old botanical garden, it will not be what you are used to. But it is well worth a visit and a great place for a walk.
Very relaxing and gorgeous. If you are a plant lover you will really enjoy it. They have a bunch of different sections you can check out, like an Herb Garden. It blends really well with the natural greenway that surrounds it
Come during the winter to see the light displays.
I have been in Alaska visiting family quite a few times and no one is as friendly as the staff at the Botanical Gardens. It's right in Anchorage but you feel as if you've left the city completely. It's so peaceful, beautiful, and serene. And the staff are so helpful and educated on all species within the garden. Highly recommend!
Awesome place all year round. Fun for all ages
Very nice trail, extremely easy walk around the .5 mile trail. Fair warning, admission is not free. It's worth paying to get in if you're up for a lovely walk in nature.
Beautiful native flora. Very helpful staff.
It was beautiful just what we needed ✔️🙏🎄🎶 …
Beautiful! We hit at the right time and with the cool summer we had, everything was blooming at the same time. A must visit!!
The staff were kind, the gardens were well cared for and beautiful. It’s a fun place to take a walk and spend an afternoon!
Fabulous time, much closed down due to Covid, but perfect time for locals to visit . Clean and homey, welcoming fire blazing. Freshly baked cookies and sandwiches made to order. Wonderful day!
Very beautiful place, very kind people. I had a person with disabilities with me, and we had no money, but they let us enjoy the gardens around the outside for as long as we wanted. Very peaceful.
If you're looking for color in life then you'll find it here.
Take an allergy pill because you'll be surrounded by flowers. The vibrant colors of the flowers will amaze you. The walking path is very flat, so no tripping while staring off into the distance. Bring water because you'll be dehydrated by the end of the walk.
If you're lucky you'll see the wild porcupine eating some flowers.
So beautiful and peaceful. The flowers were at their peak. It was nice to be able to walk and enjoy the summer sun. If you enjoy species of flowers this is a must see. 🌻 …
Beautiful gardens, plenty of exhibits and friendly staff
Nice stroll in the winter or summer. Ironically, for being outside among plants, trees, oxygen, and, gasp(!), a few people, they decided to be mask nazis.
It's a bit ridiculous. They choose for you. But they likely feel like they are saving lives or some other tripe by making everyone outside look like bank robbers.
Beautiful space and very kind workers!
Nice relaxing place.
Beautiful place to spend an afternoon.
Was there on an Alaskan cruise in June 2018. Stopped here before our flight left that evening to go home. One of the most beautiful places I've been to in years !!! There are plants and trees there that are absolutely stunning that are not only native to Alaska but so many other things to see. I have NEVER seen rhubarb plants so huge in my life. 2 words for this place...totally awesome !!! A must see if you have time to kill in Anchorage while waiting for your flight !!!
Wonderful place. Many ideas for themed gardens. Great place to take guests, or just enjoy the flowers.
The Gardens were beautiful, as the Christmas light show. Bit, it would be more of a summer place for sure
The Alaska Botanical Gardens are truly magical. They are a delight during winter, as well as summer.
A really wonderful garden. Not very big, but a lot of love had gone into it. Different community groups have built and maintained their part of the garden. Visit there and feel the love.
Hours are variable based on volunteer timing. Beautiful and informative garden space with small hike in natural flora. Gates surround area to keep wandering moose out.
People during the holiday season should dress for warm because this outdoor park is really spectacular this winter season.we all need some cheer and joy and it is here for the whole family..
Small but beautiful! Check out the events page ahead of your trip to see what you can include before visiting
It would've been great if they had small tours. A few sections were closed off due to bear sightings.
Been waiting all winter so I can start again. Great place. Employees answer questions about the plants. Was way cool. If you have kids. Be sure and ask for the scavenger hunt pages
This Garden is spectacular. They have many of the native Alaskan plants and have put a lot of work into growing them. I would definitely visit again as it is peaceful and serene.
great garden with lots of plants that were blooming. Clean bathrooms and is handicap accessible. nice garden walk that takes a couple hours.
This is a hidden gem with appeal for year around outdoor enjoyment. Spring and summer is popular but I was there at +6 degrees at night in early January 2020❗️ It was a wonderland and serene!
We went here for the light display and it was absolutely beautiful! Can't believe I haven't been here before, but we'll be back in the summer!
Beautifully kept gardens
Very nice gardens. The restaurant want open so there was no place to get refreshments.
I had a Beautiful walk around the garden
The Botanical gardens look gorgeous! However the price to get in is a little high in my opinion. $12 per person.
Beautiful gardens year round. Staff is friendly and the main trail is paved.
Great place to walk and scenery picture taking.
Lovely, calm , beautiful
I always try and visit the local Botanical garden when traveling through a town. I'm from Florida, and I really enjoyed the diversity of Alaska's Botanical garden. Beautifully kept, friendly staff.
Affordable, peaceful, and beautiful. Lyle's Garden in particular is a must see. I'm always inspired with ideas for my own garden.
Lovely walk, beautiful flowers, all kinds of smells and gardens to view. At the time of this posting $12.00 for adults to get in.
Small, but very pleasant garden, with lovely areas of beautiful plantings interspersed amongst a natural Alaskan landscape. Wonderfully relaxing!
The holiday lights was well done. A really nice time for us and our nearly two year old.
We had so much fun walking and looking at all the beautiful plants and flowers !! Just wished we saw more native plants and flowers from Alaska !! We really wanted to see the FORGET ME NOTS !!
Loved it-- friendly staff--awesome gardens-- saw a moose on the backside nature trail. Bring bug spray you will need it!
Quaint little botanical garden in Anchorage. Not too big if you want a short walk in the shade w/ the little ones, it's great!
What a Beautiful place. Such knowledgeable staff. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Thank you, Stacey. Your love for what you do truly shows.
Staff was very helpful getting my wife an electric cart to get around the 11 acres of beautiful flora and landscapes, is breathtaking to say the least, the head groundskeeper answered all my questions, a great place to go and relax
Beautiful place, big and beautiful flowers and herbs
Great little walk with a bunch of stuff to see. Their gift shop is cute and the flower baskets are very reasonably priced.
12 dollars per person.
My families and I had a great time here. Good for short time hiking and learning botany.
Went to their annual plant sale. Great selection of northern flowering plants for the Alaskan climate. The gardens are beautiful as well.
This is a charming sanctuary in the woods. The staff were great and even provided a complimentary scooter for a member of our party.
The Holiday Lights in the Garden event was beautiful. Definitely recommend it, especially when it's snowy and cold.
Easy to spend a half day!
Very nice walk, lovely arranged gardens...Only complaint is that the store and bathrooms close an hour before the gardens!
Beautiful garden. The mosquitos were horrible. I bought their mosquito repellent, thank God it worked.
Designed to have blooms throughout the summer. Amazing that there is much to see in September just weeks before the snow will likely fall.
Small but nice garden
Beautifully landscaped with additional paths, about a mile long each, outside of garden bounds. You could easily spend hours here
Really lovely. Beautiful gardens. Nice nature walk. Friendly volunteers.
Alaskan summers grow amazing flowers. The gardens are nicely laid out along a wooded trail and thoughtfully curated.
What a cool place in the summer. The flower gardens here are beautiful in the summertime. The staff is very nice and knowledgeable.
Great place to visit.
A wonderful walk in the woods with the beauty of nature to behold everywhere you look. The colors are magical and the smells marvelous.
Always a lovely stroll through well tended gardens and wild areas. Well worth the time for both locals and visitors.
Beautiful gardens!
Amazing! The owners and workers do a fantastic job at keeping the area clean, beautiful, and fresh!
Beautiful place to view Alaska's Flora. Walking paths through the gardens and a visitors center. Love to visit!!
Very clean, well layed out
Great place to spend an afternoon. Picturesque, friendly staff, and worth a visit.
Nice, well kept gardens. Friendly staff. And they even provide bug spray for free :)
Can't wait to see it in full bloom and when we have more time!
They removed all the PoGo stuff in the parking lot. The flowers are nice in the garden though.
Beautiful place. However, it's a small place. Can do with more tagging of the plants
Good quality and worth visiting, but not spectacular, and not very extensive. Use bus route 25 and get off on Baxter st. to get there.
Nice little place. Fairly focused on native plants.
Timing is everything as the growing season for this Garden is very limited. Additionally it is a very small garden which can be walked in less than an hour.

(Translation) Handsome. Super recommended for all the people who visit Anchorage in Spring. We paid 14 dollars for the entrance and we enjoyed a wonderful place, very careful and authentic. More than 350 plants from different places in Alaska and the world, trails, lots of art everywhere (paintings, sculptures, interventions, etc). Although there are warnings for the possible appearance of bears, we did not have the good fortune to observe any in the 4 hours of our stay. The botanical garden has a picnic area, free Wi-Fi, a bookstore, a souvenir and gift shop, and restrooms. We recommend a visit by bike. In Anchorage there are paved bike trails that are amazing. Bring a mate or a coffee to enjoy nature. For added peace of mind in Anchorage, carry a bear spray on your backpack belt and follow the recommendations of local residents... Enjoy Alaska!!!! (Translation) The Alaska Botanical Garden brings together, with name and description, the flowers, shrubs and trees of the country. There is a short padeo, with sections of aromatic herbs and spices, flowers, vegetables, in pleasant spaces and benches to rest and talk. And a long walk, with forests of pines and birchs, which produces a honey similar to that of maple; a stream, and you can find wild animals. It's out of the way, but it's worth it if you're in Anchorage.
