The staff was very nice and knowledgeable. They did a lot of testing on both eyes and determined I needed to have two cataract surgeries. Dr Green examined my eyes and talked with me about options for new lenses. He did an excellent job on the first surgery. I have had no pain or problems. The first couple days, a thin cloudy white film blurred my vision, but now that has cleared. Everything looks bright and I can see blue again. White looks brilliant white instead of ivory. My vision in my left eye went from 20/100 to 20/40 the first day after surgery and I am not done healing yet. I can't wait to have the second surgery. I was given an information folder with everything I needed to know to prepare for surgery and potential risks. We discussed my options on eye drops, insurance coverage.and scheduled all my appointments. Erin, my surgery coordinator, responded quickly to answer any questions I had.

It was outstanding. I have been seen by other optometrist where my visit was less than favorable. My visit to Galanis was actually pleasant and informative. Each staff member was very pleasant, friendly, timely and informative. The Doctor, Dr. Sorce , was extremely friendly and super informative. When you first walk into the Galanis Cataract Center, something is so unique. The staff are ALL so pleasant. Whatever they might be doing is not as important as you. All questions are answered until you have no more. Everyone who worked with my eyes were kind and respectful. And my doctor took all the time needed, answered my concerns, and showed thoughtfulness for what I might need. The dry eye drops sample he gave me work all day on one drop! Plus the anti-itch drops do the same. Just this alone has made a major difference in my daily comfort. I am so pleased to have found Galanis where I feel safe and cared for to highest level. The replacement lenses options were well explained, including which were appropriate for my personal condition and pricing, so that I could make an informed decision. The surgery on my right eye was very quick and painless. Followup immediately after the surgery was convenient as I didn’t have to make another trip the day after surgery. First day it looked like looking through a thin layer of skim milk. The following morning my eye was no longer dilated and now white actually looks white, and everything is clear. I’m looking forward to the second eye surgery and am so glad that I chose Galanis Cataract & Laser Center!

BEST STAFF EVER! I was super nervous about getting the yag procedure. I arrived at the office 15 minutes early just like they asked me to. I go inside … I’m at the wrong place. Gah! So I called and talked to the front desk person who was very understanding. When I arrived at the right office I was very frazzled - I didn’t want to be late plus I was already anxious about the procedure. Everyone was amazingly reassuring and calming. Even if it was a problem for me to have arrived late, they didn’t let me know or feel that. Then, I get called back to the exam room and met Lisa. She recognized my anxiousness and carefully talked me through every step. She was calming and very gentle. She took her time and made sure I was comfortable. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Of course everything went well with my procedure too.

I woke up Friday with my Eye stuck shut and itching. I am from Va, and do not have any doctors in Mo. My sister called her eye doctor, Dr. Craig H Sorce,O.D. He was booked solid, but he managed to squeeze me in. The care I received was exceptional, my wait time was not much longer than if I had an appointment. Everyone in the office was friendly and treated me as if I was a long time patient. Dr Sorce was very thorough and found the problem, he prescribed Eye Drops that helped immediately, I’ve been taking them for 3 days and the infection is almost gone. I will continue to see Dr Sorce and would definitely recommend him to my friends and family.

The surgery only took a few minutes, and I can assure you that there was no pain at any point, before, during, or after. The hardest part was the numbing drop. I can now see near and far without glasses. Wow! What I noticed immediately was that the lights in my home were much whiter than I thought. This is one of the best medical practices I have ever been to. They are all very helpful, efficient, and friendly. They make you feel like you are an important part of the healthcare team, and encourage you to ask questions. I had never seen what my retina looks like, pretty interesting. I asked what Retinosa Pigmentosa looks like, a condition my brother has, and they pulled up an image and explained it. I wish I could get my brother to move his files, but he wants to stick with his grumpy, non-communicative eye doctor. I disagree with some of the previous posts that said they are slow. They do have a very busy practice, but they seem well staffed, and always get to me very quickly. If you are having your eyes dilated, it takes a while for the drops to take effect, so that could add to the perception of a "long wait".

If you are looking at this review for Dr. Galanis, then I can say, unequivocally, this was the best decision I ever made, going to this doctor to remove my cataracts. If you need more info, read on. I was a bit skeptical at first. I mean, after all, I never had cataracts before and no one ever touched my eyes. I need my eyes. I am a piano player for several churches. My first visit for the evaluation was met with a lot of waiting. Later on, I realized it was because of the special care they give everyone who walks through those doors. No one is rushed through. Everyone is treated with respect, given the utmost care on an individual basis, and made to feel as comfortable, at ease and at home to the best of their ability. From the receptionist, to the technicians and nurses, both at Dr. Galanis's office on Watson Road and The Eye Institute on Manchester Road, to the other doctors (mine was Dr. Barlow), to the last person you see to set up your next visit, I can say without a doubt, it was a wonderful experience. I am sure there are others out there that can do what he and they did. But to me, he is the best, his staff are the best, the doctors, technicians and his staff are all the best at what they do. So the decision for you should be to call them for an appointment as soon as you can and quit worrying. You'll be in good hands. You'll be able to sing the song, "I Can See Clearly Now, the Cataracts Is Gone!".
