Friendly, kind, helpful staff. I especially appreciated it as I needed extra assistance due to mobility issues. It was challenging to maneuver my walker ( and myself) as it is quite cramped in the reception area, but the eye scanner staff person (didn't catch her name) was very patient and helpful as we worked around the difficulties together. Dr. Kim was a model of friendly efficiency and competence. I haven't needed glasses until now, so am very pleased that I found this office as my first, and now only, eye exam place!

I went in to check a corneal abrasion after my previous optometrist told me I had pink eye which I knew wasn't the case. Dr. Tran was very kind, thorough, and informative of why my vision was blurry. He showed me pictures of what my eye looked like and advised me on next steps to recovering my vision. The rest of the staff were also professional and respectful. This place was out of my network but I wish I came here first!

Without a doubt the best optometrist I've been to in the past decade. Dr. Leigh Kim, you are a credit to your profession. I hope you read these reviews because I am extremely grateful with how you diagnosed my blurry middle-vision. And for the internet reading this review, my previous optometrist was at another Costco in another state and he was very, very good. So how do you go from a 9.5 to a 10.0? Well, that's hard to describe, but I can honestly say there was a difference. I just very much appreciated the in-depth way Dr. Kim went about describing and evaluating my past prescription and what she thought about it, and then how she went about explaining what she thought my new prescription should be. It was very exacting, I could tell the difference immediately, and I dunno... it felt very scientific (for lack of a better description). You can tell Dr. Leigh Kim knows what she's talking about. She's got a great chair-side manner and she's very articulate and explains things well. And as I'd mentioned earlier, I was unaware my middle vision had gone. I wear glasses because I'm near sighted and simply take off my glasses if I need to see anything up close or read. Problem was, sitting in front of a computer, things were blurry. I'd typically sit far away from my monitor to be able to focus with my regular glasses. Dr. Kim said I could probably use glasses for computer work and she was right. I can see again without squinting. Nothing against my previous Dr. but he'd never noticed. Can't thank you enough Dr. Kim. And also Dr. Kim has THE BEST sense of humor. Extremely efficient and thorough: out -of-network for my insurance, so had to pay out of pocket at the visit , but they even submit the claim and my insurance will send me a check for the amount they do pay. Got an appointment within 2 days over the holidays when other locations were booking 6-10 weeks out.

Dr Kim was polite and extremely good at explaining everything she was doing during the exam.. She showed photos of the inside of my eye and was careful to describe what she was looking for. Lucky for me, everything was all good.

Friendly staff up front. One staff member helped me get over my fear with the machine that blows air in your eyes. It's a stupid fear, I know. Dr. Tran was extremely informative making me aware of the different options and examples. I'm excited to get my new prescription knowing I'll be able to see better!

I would absolutely recommend Sodo vision care! I was able to schedule my appointment less than 24 hours in advance. On the day of my appointment, I arrived 10 minutes early, I was greeted by two very friendly women, and even with being early I was able to be seen right away. I didn’t have to wait and we got straight to the pre-testing. After that was done, I was sent to wait outside for the doctor. I waited maybe three minutes and the doctor came to get me. He was very kind and very professional; he answered every single question that I had and at no point did I ever feel rushed or that he was annoyed by my questions. Everything was explained thoroughly to me. I paid for the contact lens and eyeglasses exam and I got to take home about a weeks worth of free daily wear contact lens samples to try out. Overall, I am very happy with my experience and will definitely come here again in the future or recommend others to!

The eye tests and the test results were all explained thoroughly and I was given useful information about eye allergies along with samples of eye drops to use. Which I lost. The woman who helped me with new frames steered me away from a pair I had picked because of their weight which I was trying to avoid. The people working there know their stuff.

This was our first time at the SODO Vision Care and we had Dr. Leigh Kim who did myself and wife for our yearly eye exam inside the Costco on 4th Ave S. Dr. Kim was wonderful, very detailed and explained everything she was doing compare to other eye doctors that we seen for over 40 years. What a great experience! I’ve had dozens of eye doctors over 50 years, but never felt moved to post a review until now. SODO is great! Easy to get a reasonably-soon appointment, easy to locate and park (it’s in Costco), friendly staff, GREAT optometrist who explains everything (with visual aids, too) and really cares. It’s also affordable: $100 for a basic exam (add the $30 upgrade to get a “high-res” retinal scan that’s more effective than the old dilation method), often partly covered by insurance. (Staff figured out my insurer and made the claim for me!) Then I went next door for glasses from a vibrant, knowledgeable, fun optician (Bridget). I’ll definitely return in two years for a checkup. Go take care of your eye health at a well-run, friendly, professional office - where you can also get gas and tires 😁

Let me just say this... they are an excellent vision center. But leet me vent a little too. An optometrists job is to measure my eyes and give me a prescription for them. When that line is crossed by allowing any doctor to say what brand you have to buy, there becomes the appearance of impropriety. These are MY EYES. You measure, I pick the brand. When we don't let it happen this way, companies start to give kick backs to the doctors in order to increase sales. When we let the buyer decide, the market then prices the contacts at the cheapest level. Making me pay for a second unnecessary visit that ended in exactly the same prescription took money from my pocket unnecessarily and put it in the pocket of the Optometrist. And it took away my choice. I'm not happy with this system at all. But the Doctors there, their equipment, and the whole process were fine.

The rude person at the front desk needs to consider finding a back office job or something. I literally have my hands on the mask, trying to put it on and the first thing she says is not hello or a greeting, but a rude "you need a mask" while I'm in the process of putting it on. Then "are you checking in?" in a bitter tone. She really doesn't fit in to the positive mood of the office there, and seems like an unhappy person. Maybe some bad life choices. The woman doing the eye exams on the machines, the doctor, and the billing person all are so nice. I guess good help is hard to find. But people with a sour attitude like the "greeter" should really stay away from the public and work in a basement or something.

SODO Vision Care and Dr Leigh Kim were great! Easy to book eye exam appt online. They were early/on time for appt and Dr. Kim explained a lot to me. I've been to other O.D.s but have not learned as much as I did with Dr Kim about eye health and how different disorders impact your eyes. Costco also has a wide range of eyeware and they are marked (for size, material, other features) so it's much faster and easier to find a frame that will fit. Their pricing is also better. Definitely give them a try!

I arrived a few minutes early, but they did my preliminary tests right away and I only had to wait a few minutes to see Dr. Kim. I came in because I noticed I have new eye floaters and was concerned about my eye health, Dr. Kim did some more exams on my eyes and compared them with similar past results. She did a great job explaining what the eye floaters were and that mine were not a result of a more serious condition, much to my relief. She also checked my vision and luckily nothing has changed since last year, so I didn’t need new glasses.

Very efficient operation: the exam was quick but thorough with several tests done with an assistant and didn't require drops for dilation (I paid $30 extra for a retinal scan so I wouldn't be dilated but it was worth it) for my exam with the optician. The Costco optical department outside was also efficient and helpful in finding me suitable frames (although they didn't have completely rimless frames which have been my go-to's for many years and therefore had fewer options for me to try), taking measurements, and providing all the technical features to make my glasses fit my needs. This was my first experience with Costco and SODO Vision Care at the 4th Ave. S. location and I was very pleased. November 2022 update: still very happy with the exam as the optician did determined my new lens prescription with minimal repetitions and efficient tests.

The experiences was great! Much better than other eye services. The waiting minimal but I still received an apology which was very professional. The doctor showed me a picture of the health of my eyes and explained everything in layman term which made it easier to make the right decisions. The cost was cover by insurance but I would glad pay out of pocket for such great services. Check in was a breeze and appointment request was painless. They waived my fee when I forgot to show up for my first appointment. I should not made my appointment after the weekend because by Monday I forgot completely about it.

It's a very efficient operation albeit a no-frill operation. (No fancy waiting room or out of date magazines.) It was very easy to get an appointment online. I'd refer my mother-in-law (so to speak) to SODO Vision Care! My appointment started on time, was efficiently executed and the equipment was state of the art. The SODO staff were friendly, and very conscience about sanitizing between customers. The eye doctor was straightforward and explained each step as my eyes were examined. My only few comments of constructive criticism: #1. Attire in the staff. I've worked in MD offices for well over 12 years and it's nice to see staff dressed up or in a uniform. The staff was all in jeans and sweatshirts. Seemed very unprofessional. #2. Staff space and presentation: I actually saw a staff member picking her nose as well up front. #3. Look at people in the eyes while talking with them. I saw often the front desk not looking patients in the eyes when she was talking with them or discussing payments/receipt of prescription etc. Acknowledging patients by looking at their eyes during conversations are very important, especially in the eye business. #4: The young lady didn't instruct me on what she was going to do during the initial eye evaluation. I would encourage all of your staff to introduce themselves and explain what they are planning on doing before implementing tests. It's important for patients to know what is being done to them, it also helps decrease anxiety. If everyone wasn't super nice and got me in very quickly, this would have been a big turnoff. Overall, I would recommend their practice to any friend needing an evaluation.

Frankly, I'm still not sure if I went to the eye doctor or if I dreamt it. After I checked in the receptionist told me to have a seat. I went to the chairs and she said, "No, the one in front of the machine." The tech started my preliminary exam right away. She was charming. When she finished she said, "The doctor will be with you shortly" and the words weren't out of her mouth before the door opened and Dr. Tran called me in. I have never had such an efficient eye exam. He nailed my prescription quickly. But for all the efficiency, I didn't feel like I was being rushed. He took time to answer my questions and provided good advice. I easily spent twice as much time selecting my frames as I did with the exam. Miraculous.

And he was able to answer any question I had. Wendy (eye glass counter person) was equally professional.
