Stopped by Eyes on Rosemont when my prescription sunglasses broke that I had bought elsewhere. In 30 minutes my frames were fixed and fit better than ever. Service was awesome, fast, and super nice. Would definitely come back for more eye related needs were I in the area again.

My husband gifted me a vintage pair of American optical glasses & Chris was more than skilled and passionate about helping me! It is lovely & refreshing to meet people passionate about their craft and not just trying to make a sale (not something you come across often unfortunately nowadays). Dr Johnson (for my eye exam) was wonderful and thorough, as well as Deb. I also purchased a pair of prescription sunglasses, as Chris helped me get the best deal. Thank you to everyone on Middle St! I will have these glasses for years and years!

I was born with congenital cataracts and have been visually impaired my entire life. I got cataract surgery in the spring of 2022 which greatly improved my vision but also added the need for glasses, which I had never had before. Needing progressive glasses for the first time felt overwhelming. I considered buying discount glasses online. I ended up going to Eye on Rosemont in the Old Port and I am so glad I did. Everyone I worked with there is very kind and knowledgeable and really helped me find the right prescription and glasses. At first online options seemed significantly cheaper but Eyes on Rosemont provided far more value than I could have ever got from an online retailer. I bought 3 pairs of prescription glasses from Chris in 3 months and when my prescription unexpectedly changed after 3 months Chris advocated for me and had all 3 pairs of my prescriptions changed at no cost. Maui Jim did not want to replace my prescription for free but Chris talked with them and they agreed to do it. I am thankful to have such a friendly, reliable and knowledgeable team to work with for my optometry needs.

Chris helped me pick out my frames and was very helpful and knowledgeable. Everyone at this location is inviting and personable, not to mention the office is beautiful!

Eyes on Rosemont in the Old Port sure has customer service down. Chris Bono managed to fix my glasses after they had been pronounced by another optician as unfixable. Staff was courteous and extremely helpful. I will definitely be returning whenever I need new glasses or support for the myriad pairs I already have. Thank you Chris and Eyes on Rosemont!

I've been here twice now for annual check ups, and both times the whole process has been smooth and efficient. The staff are welcoming and helpful. In the time it took for me to check out, Chris went above and beyond to clean up my glasses and even replaced the nose pads!

When my eye doctor of 20+ years retired, his patients were taken in by Eyes on Rosemont. I felt cared for and valued just as I had been with my original eye doctor. They take time with you, are informative and also have a great selection of glasses.

I got an eye exam and a new pair of glasses here last spring. When it turned out my lenses were too thick for my new frames, Eyes on Rosemont adjusted them for me at least half a dozen times for no charge. Later, they redid my glasses with new plastic frames, still for no charge,, and I have had zero problems since then. They really did the right thing by me and despite the setbacks I am a 100 percent satisfied customer. 5 stars. Thank you so much!

I was visiting Portland, Maine for a vacation in June of this year. When I was on a boat tour, one of the screws for the hinge on one side of my glasses decided to fall out. I was highly distraught because I can't see at all without my glasses, and I still had another three days before I was returning home. I was afraid I'd have to spend the rest of my vacation only being able to see blobs of color. Luckily I had a friend with me who could help me walk to a shop (which would have been impossible on my own because I couldn't read street signs alone.) We had looked up another shop, but had gotten really turned around; this turned out to be a huge positive twist of fate. We walked in, and the staff had some customers there for appointments already. When I explained my situation they let me know I may have to wait a little bit so they could finish the appointments they had there, which I more than understood and was just happy they were willing to try to help in the first place. Shockingly it only took about 5-10 minutes, which was much quicker than I expected. A lovely staff member took a look at my glasses, and informed me that they didn't have the exact screws to fit my glasses, but if I was ok with it she'd be able to use another type of screw to fix them at least until I could get home. I was elated, and she set to work repairing my glasses. It only took her about five minutes to make the glasses just like new again. I was expecting a hefty bill for emergency repairs but to my delight the staff only charged me a very small amount, and still to this day nearly 6 months later the repair is still functioning exceptionally well. I don't live in this area but would recommend this business to anyone who does as their staff alone is enough to show how well their business is run. Additionally for any unlucky tourists who need emergency repairs I would highly recommend giving these lovely people a try!

I love this place! I have never, ever had an eye appointment before, so I was nervous, and did not know what to expect. I got there about 15 mins early, the very nice lady Patricia gave me my paperwork to fill out. I filled it out, and not even 5 mins later I went it for the initial check up, and pictures. I looked around at some glasses for a minute, and then a very sweet doctor took me in. She was so sweet (she said she was new to this office and of course I forgot her name...) she took her time with me, and answered any questions I had, and made me feel very comfortable. She even took an extra step that wasn't initially apart of the original work she was supposed to do, and advised I should get dilated. The girls out front were AMAZING! They were so relaxed, and laid back, but very knowledgeable. The only girls name I can remember right now is Erin, she is awesome! They all came out to help me pick glasses, and were honest about how they looked :) It felt like a family, and I will always come here when I need anything for my eyes, AND it was all covered by my insurance so that made it even better! Thank you ladies for making my first experience, a great one!

As the friendly & helpful owner told us upon entering the shop, most of their clients are repeat clients & local word-of-mouth business. The shop is nothing fancy, but they had a nice small selection of modern men's eyewear -- something other downtown shops seem to lack. The prices were extremely reasonable for frames (no big markups), and are pretty standard for the lenses. They are extremely fast in ordering and can have your glasses ready within a day or two! MY ONLY WARNING: They do not do eye exams there, so be extra careful that your glasses prescription is received to them & then ordered out by them correctly by your optician. Double & triple check and also bring in the paperwork directly if you can. Somewhere someone took our prescription down incorrectly and the order was delayed. (They seemed to be less friendly after that, haha). Coincidently, that same week, we ran into a co-worker who had the exact same thing happen there! His numbers were also taken down incorrectly. They are super nice and friendly, and I believe in supporting local “ma & pa” shops in Portland – but you may have to monitor this transaction a little more closely than those bigger businesses.

I love Eyes on Old Port! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and in my opinion, have the most stylish collection of frames. They are also the only place in town that carries the brand Moscot, which is my favorite! Chris Bono was especially helpful with ordering my glasses and dealing with my insurance situation. He also gave me tips on how to better care for my frames to keep them in better shape and he gave me a cute Moscot reusable bag!
