From the minute I walked into the Vance Thompson Vision office in Omaha, I was impressed. The office is bright and clean and the beverage area and chocolate chip cookies were great. Their reception staff all had smiles on their faces and were friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. My wait was minimal. The staff that completed the vision tests were very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. The Dr. explained everything and answered all my questions. The day of my cataract surgery, all of the staff were amazingly friendly, from the receptionist, my RN who is great with IV's, the anesthesiologist who made me feel heard to Dr. Baartman who was reassuring, warm, and explained everything he was doing and he accomplished my surgery with humor and even sang to me. If I had to sum the entire experience in 1 word, EXCELLENT! I would highly recommend Vance Thompson Vision for your vision needs.

Wow! I love Vance Thompson Vision and am so grateful that my optometrist recommended Dr. Brandon Baartman at the Omaha office! I just had cataract surgery and after only a day following the second eye surgery, my long distance vision is 20/20 again without the increasing haze, blurriness, color blindness and night glare etc. Dr. Goertz provided the optometric recommendation for cataract surgery and he was also top notch! I am really disappointed with my mono vision as far as what I can see up close. I cannot read instructions, or letters and/or numbers on a dial or jar. I believe there should’ve been a better explanation of what I could expect to see. I said I did not have any problem wearing glasses to thread a needle, but there are so many more things now that I’m not able to focus on. When Dr. Goertz said he would make it a 2 or 2-1/2, I had no idea what that really meant. I can still read a book, but I have to hold it much further away than what is in my comfort zone. I do believe he did say some thing about how it would have to worked with the right eye but didn’t really understand what that meant. I guess I’m disappointing because I had better close vision than I do now. Otherwise, I am very pleased with the service and the distance results. Another thing, I had been talked into getting the drops from your office because it appeared cheaper. I believe now that if I would’ve had gotten a prescription, I could have turned it into my insurance since I would have had a prescription number, etc. I did call and request this, but didn’t have all the information needed.

From the minute we walked in the front door and were greeted with warm smiles to the nursing staff to the doctor for surgery…. I knew we had made the correct decision to have my surgery done in Omaha. Such caring and compassionate people! Not to mention the skill of the medical staff! 1st class operation from the moment I walked in the door . The 1st surgery went very well although I had unfortunately drank a little fluids prior to the procedure and was unable to have any relaxing agent but the topical drops worked fine. the 2nd procedure the following day went equally well with just topical anesthesia. Follow up was uneventful and my vision in My worst eye is 2020 the other eye which was not quite as bad as 2025 but correctable both eyes to 2015. I can't Believe how much clearer everything is and how good the color is. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends. I am a retired physician and I recognize a well run medical operation when I see it

Very kind, professional and capable staff. Procedure went off without a hitch with great results. I have had glasses since 2nd grade and it is awesome to be able to see again without glasses or contacts. The staff and Dr Baartman are pros at this and walked me through the whole process from Pre Op/Post Op texts and videos to the Operating room where he gave step by step guidance and what to expect during the procedure to help me feel calm and validated in what I was feeling/experiencing was normal. This lessened my anxiety. They were right on with time frames for recovery expectations of eye irritation, to halos, to completely clear. I wish I had done this sooner. Thanks again Vance Thompson Vision.

I am not easily impressed. Having said that, I was very well impressed this time. The care before any procedure, the concern by Dr Barton to provide all options available. The terrific friendly nurses, the cleanliness could not have been improved on in any way. However I will comment that the sunglasses given for comfort and protection after surgery are way UGLY 😏.

Great experience! From booking my Lasik preliminary appointment to my re-check after PRK surgery my experience with the staff at Vance Thompson has been wonderful. Dr. Goertz, Dr Baartman, the eye techs, office staff, and surgical support staff provided me with a great experience even in light of COVID. Dr. Baartman and Dr. Goertz both have an amazing way of interacting with their patients given they wear masks just as the patients do, and maintain as much social distancing as possible. I knew that my vision had diminished as I got older and as a diabetic my retina consultant told me several years ago I had cataracts forming and that One day they would need to be addressed and he told me he would advise me when the time had come My retina cancel referred me to Vance Thompson and they did a thorough evaluation and then schedule my surgery and explore and all of my options moving forward I was a little apprehensive at first when I went in for the cataract removal on my first eye. The next day my vision was once again restored and the clarity and definition was like I was a young man again I don’t know why I waited this long to get this done I still wear readers for up close vision but it’s been an amazing transformation!!! I had cataracts removed from both eyes on two consecutive days. My results with the lenses I chose were as promised. The only regret I have is I couldn't afford the best they had to offer to correct both near and far vision. Adjusting to reading glasses is a challenge. But my distance vision is absolutely wonderful. That is what they promised. And that is what they delivered.

I wish I could give the Omaha Vance Thompson Vision Center 10 STARS instead of just 5! I live in central Nebraska and was referred to Dr. Baartman by my optometrist. He thought I would be a good candidate for Corneal Crosslinking due to the progression of my Keratoconus. From the initial consultation to the actual procedures my experience was OUTSTANDING! The staff is so personable and helpful. The moment you walk through the doors, you immediately feel at ease and pampered. I would like to specifically give a shout out and big high five to my Optical tech, Meg. With the procedure being approx 2 hours long, we spent the most time together. She has a gift! A gift for putting the patient at ease, making you feel completely taken care of and you immediately trust her and know you are in good hands. You can teach techniques and you can learn procedures - but what she adds to Vance Thompson cannot be taught - it's just who she is. What an incredible asset she is to the team! I also had another delightful tech (not sure if that is her title) named Megan. She and I bonded instantly and chatted as if we had known each other for years. LOL. If we were not in a pandemic I would have hugged them both on my return for my second procedure - that's how incredible there were to me! If you are considering any of the services that Vance Thompson Vision Center offers, DO NOT HESITATE to give them a call. I promise you will be so happy you did!

When I walked in I was greeted immediately. All of the staff was friendly, and answered any questions I had. I had LASIK performed, and it was done quickly, and as comfortable as possible. Vance Thompson Vision did a great job. Just have one quibble. Thet did not explain the chaices about eyedops after surgery very well. For $85 you could get 1 bottle with the 3 prescriptions all mixed together, or get 3 separate prescriptions. That meant 3 times thw effort to apply drops if you got the 3 prescriptions. But the kicker, which was a real financial kick in the wallet, was that one of the drops cost $385 at Walgreens with just enough to do 1 eye for a month. Ouch. And completely avoidable.

My 13 year old son was diagnosed with bilateral keratoconus and needed crosslinking done in both eyes. We came to Vance Thompson after being diagnosed by another provider and they picked up his case and immediately began advocating for us. Insurance denied the procedure multiple times and they fought right alongside us to get the procedure approved. We had multiple setbacks in getting the procedure done and they went above and beyond to advocate, support and encourage us. The professionalism and compassion that was shown to use was outstanding.
